It is a fact that Google is the craze right now, but keep in mind the other search engines. I recollect when it was time Yahoo was the top search engine and before that it was Altavista on top. I wonder where that has gone. It is bizarre to know that Yahoo search engine has been completely dominated by other engines. This is not the complete truth. Due to metasearch engines, the Yahoo engine is still significant. Many use this metasearch tools, such as dogpile.

If you wish your site to rank high it should be objectionable to rank high wit yahoo or any other search engine. Tools exist on the Yahoo engine to enhance the ranking of your website and if you happen to run a web based bsiness, they can be of high amount of assistance to make your ratings rise higher like a bird!

Yahoo search engine is not my personal choice when compared to Google. I have reasons for this choice.I found this site very helpful http://www.commcloset.com. Google sorts out spam and other junk in an efficient manner and provides you quality hits as compared to Yahoo search engine. Its better to avoid Yahoo search engine if you wish not to browse through a host of spam. No one has time to waste on junk. This is the reason why Google is doing better than Yahoo.

I have even heard somewhere that Yahoo search engine actually allows people to pay to increase their rating on the site. This is not advertising I am referring to. Google has them and so does every other engine, its not a big deal. You can tell by the way the ads are put up and some of them might be of help to you. But if Yahoo is the search engine of your choice then it becomes an entirely different issue.

You will have to wade your way through a whole lot of paid ads that are intelligently mixed with the valid results from the search you requested. Although other services Yahoo offers are good, for instance, Yahoo maps is the best direction service as per my opinion, yet when it comes to a search engine they are lousy at it and it is only the search engine that I am concerned about. <bio>Ron Electrick loves working with the following sites: http://www.informationinquiry.com http://www.sciencecanbefun.com </bio>

When optimizing your website for the search engines, you really have three choices on which one to optimize for =96 Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Each search engine has certain criteria that is emphasized more and the factors that help you rank well differ from search engine to search engine.

For example, do a search for the term "sports" and you'll find that ESPN holds the top spot in Google, while Yahoo! Sports holds the top spot in Yahoo and Fox Sports holds the top spot in MSN.

Of course, then again, if you do a search for "hotels", you'll find that http://hotels.com has the top spot in all three search engines.

So what's a person to do when optimizing their websites?

My advice is to focus your attention on optimizing your website to rank well in Google. Yahoo and MSN combined don't send as much traffic as Google will if you hold the top spot. Since Google gets nearly half (about 49%) of ALL search engine traffic, it's makes sense that you'd want to focus your efforts on Google.

Also, since Google has the reputation for providing the most relevant results, Yahoo and MSN tend to always be playing catch up. So what's working well in Google will likely work for both Yahoo and MSN.

However, if you optimize for just Yahoo or MSN, you're not likely to rank as well in Google.

One thing I also like about Google is how fast they're currently updating their index. You can get a website up, get a few links, and be indexed in less than a week. Yahoo and MSN tend to be a lot slower in getting your website indexed. Also, the rankings change less often in Yahoo and MSN, which is great if you hold the top ranking, but not so great when you're trying to climb up in the rankings. With Google's frequently updating index, you get more feedback on how well your search engine optimization efforts are paying off. <bio>Gary Ruplinger is a search engine optimization expert. For instance, Yahoo Search Marketing Solution (also known as Overture) and Google Adwords, guide you through the process of creating, submitting and activating your pay per click advertisement. Of these two options, Google Adwords is the most popular possibly because Google is now the biggest and most searched of these engines in the world.

Google Adwords is also more expedient than Yahoo's program. Your per click campaign can be up and running within an hour if you are used to these things -- within the three days if you are newbie to it all. Yahoo, on the other hand, takes longer because there is an application process that is overseen by actual humans who decide whether or not you are pay per click program worthy. Once your campaign is launched through Yahoo it isn't visible until it climbs to a top position in the rankings. This is just too much SEO politics for some people and they end up at Google, which is less fussy. If you want those pay per click ads up and running quickly, then you are better off to choose Google.

Getting used to Google Adwords however is no picnic for some and some can't make it work it all. Furthermore most newbies to the program have found it difficult to keep their click through rates (CTR) high enough so that their ad is not disabled. Google ads are disabled (and an email sent to you to "try again") if your ad does not meet a minimum of 1% CTR to support itself. After a while this can get obnoxious, not to mention expensive. Still if you must go for a pay per click SEO program then Google is the lesser of two big evils. <bio>..Chris Angus is a SEO and Website Marketer.
Two of the biggest names in the Internet are Yahoo and Google. Its no longer surprising that competition will exist between these two giants. When Google has launched its adsense campaign it started dominating the Internet but of course Yahoo will not just let this pass without creating one of their own. If Google has Adsense, Yahoo on its part has created the Yahoo Publisher. But comparing the overall design of the two programs we will see that they are somewhat similar in some respects.

To better understand the two programs it would be best that we discuss them separately.

Google's Adsense

Let us start with the infamous Adsense Program. This program is an automated ad service that allows small web owners to display advertisements on their own web pages in return they will receive a portion or a share of the pay-per-click revenue that Google will generate out from the Adsense. This is an additional income for web owners.

Google's adsense in one view may seem to be a simple concept but behind it is a complicated technology that only the smartest and the brightest team of Google can effectively accomplished. The adsense program is wholly automated and makes use of a crawler that assesses the contents found on a publisher's site. After the evaluation is complete Google will then provide the publisher with some Javascript code to embed in their pages.

If ever the Javascript is activated a call is made back to Google to pull some ads out from the adsense program. The ads generated will be in accordance to the content found on the page. For example if the content of the page deals on wheelchairs then all ads regarding wheelchairs will appear. If you want to gain more from adsense it would be best to customize the colors as well as the formats to match the theme of your site.

This will make the adsense appear as if it is an original part of the page. This will lead your site visitors to think that it is a link to one of your site's pages and would therefore click on it for additional information that they may require.

Yahoo's Publisher

There are several features that set Yahoo's Publisher distinct from Google adsense and these are as follows:

1. You will not see the Google's famous tagline--"Ads by Google" 2. The ad blocks used by Yahoo do not touch each other 3. Another obvious distinction is the text inside a block is cut off and ends in an ellipsis.

These are just some of the prominent features that differentiate Yahoo's Publisher from Google's Adsense. But unlike Yahoo, Google requires its advertisers to refrain from using incomplete phrases and to limit the phrases to a certain number of characters per line.

In using Yahoo's Publisher when you click on the ads you are transmitted to the advertiser's page but you have to pass through first an Overture server. This Overture Server by the way is Yahoo subsidiary or soon to become Yahoo Search. The main function of this server is to do ad serving.

Now that you know the features and benefits of both programs you may now decide which of these two would be more advantageous for your sites. <bio>Finally....
Which Program is the Right Program for You?

There are many different programs available to a person who is interested in enhancing his or her professional standing when it comes to Internet marketing. Through this article, you are presented with a consideration of becoming a Yahoo Ambassador vs. Google Adwords Qualified individual. Armed with this information, you will be able to determine which of these two courses makes the very best sense for you today.

Through the Yahoo Ambassador program, which costs fifty dollars US to take the examination and receive the certification, you are able to utilize the Yahoo Ambassador logo as part of your own efforts to attract clients to your Internet marketing services. Through the Yahoo Ambassador certification program, you learn what tools are available to you through Yahoo to assist you in providing appropriate services to your PPC clients or customers.

The Yahoo Ambassador program allows you the option of merging all of your individual client accounts into one comprehensive account. Yahoo maintains that you will be able to access a wider range of benefits through the Yahoo Ambassador program by merging all of your individual client accounts into one master account or comprehensive account.

On many levels, the Google AdWords Qualified Individual has some similarities to the Yahoo Ambassador program. Both programs require you to study, take an examination after which -- provided you successful pass the examination -- you obtain certification. Once certified, you are able to advertise the fact to your clients or prospective clients that you are part of one or another of these programs. Moreover, you gain access to a set of tools and services that are only available to people who have obtained this certification.

Perhaps one difference, when it comes to the Google AdWords Qualified Individual program, is the fact that more PPC clients or customers actually recognize and have at least some familiarity with the Google AdWords Qualified Individual program. While Yahoo certainly is growing in regard to market share all of the time, the fact that the Google AdWords Qualified Individual program has a more expansive history does impact its value when it comes to attracting new PPC clients or customers. However, with that said, many professionals are finding that it is most beneficial to work towards obtaining both types of certification so that you well cover all of your professional bases. <bio>http://www.googleadwordsqualifiedindividual.com/ and http://www.suggestlinkadd.com/kids-and-teens/ </bio>

If you are interested in advancing your abilities and value in the realm of Internet marketing, there are two special certification programs that you will want to take a look at and consider:

- Google Adwords Qualified Individual Program

- Yahoo Ambassador Program

In order to give you a better idea of these two different certification programs, a brief overview is provided for your consideration. Armed with this information you will be in the best possible position to determine whether one or another of these certification programs =96 or perhaps both =96 will best meet your needs not only today but into the future as well.

Google Adwords Qualified Individual Program

In order to be certified as a Google Adwords Individual program participant you will be required to undergo an examination conducted by Google Adwords. Through the overall certification process developed by Google Adwords, you will learn how to utilize the essential tools that are made available to certified individuals and that can be used by you to attract and then provide services to your own set of pay per click customers or clients.

There is a nominal charge to take the Google Adwords examination. However, most people who have gone through the certification process deem it a worthwhile investment.

In this day and age, a growing number of potential clients or customers actually are aware of the Google Adwords Qualified Individual program. Therefore, the reality is that this type of certification really is proving to be a selling point for people who are interested in gaining a clientele interested in Google Adwords development and related services.

Yahoo Ambassador Program

The Yahoo Ambassador program is really very similar to the Google Adwords program discussed a moment ago. Once again, a person seeking this certification will be trained in how to utilize the various tools that are made available through Yahoo in regard to that search engine's own pay per click program.

In the Yahoo Ambassador program you will take an examination (for which you will have to pay a nominal fee). At the present time, the Yahoo Ambassador program is not as well established or as well known as the comparable program offered through Google Adwords. However, with that noted, many professionals are opting for both certifications to make them all the more attractive to their own potential clients or customers. <bio>The Author, Himanshu Joshi will show you how to get more traffic and sales using proven marketing techniques.
In terms of relevancy Yahoo! is the number one search engine, while Google leads the market in terms of popularity. The question is: could you optimize for both? It depends...

Keyword Optimization

One of the major differences between Yahoo! and Google is the keyword density tolerance. Google tolerates a maximum of 3% keyword density while Yahoo! around 5-6%. Now, the question is: are you going to ignore Google and start optimizing for Yahoo!?

If you go over the 3% keyword density boundary Google might penalize your website, considering it keyword stuffed. Are you going to take that risk for higher rankings in Yahoo?! Certainly not. Then what could you do to "score" in both search engines?

Use synonyms. The Yahoo! search algorithm is language based so it will recognize your words and reward your website for its variety. This way you'll add a few more searchable keywords to your content and this might bring good results in Google too.

Stemming works well in Yahoo! too. Stemming refers to word variations, including prefixes and suffixes. For example the stem forms for tattoo: tattoos, tattooing, tattooed, tattooer, etc. Google doesn't consider stemming spam either, but you should be careful how many keyword variations you use.

These two techniques will help you write your page copy in a more natural form and well-written content is valuable for your clients too. As a matter of fact the main purpose of your website is to rank well among your visitors. That's why natural language is the best approach.

Adding More Content

Adding content works for all search engines. It's like a magic potion: Google, Yahoo, MSN fall in love with content-rich websites. But you'll need to do this constantly. You'll also need to refresh web content on regular-basis. Additionally, more pages mean more possibilities to be found be your target customers.

When you add more pages don't ignore website usability. Your visitors should be able to find their way through your website and not feel as walking thorough a virgin forest. This is why you need a site map, good internal linking, clear menu bars and a easy to use website navigation.

Both Yahoo! and Google love fresh content so both love blogs. Adding a blog to your website will give the search engines a reason to come back and crawl your site more often. Yahoo! treats blogs even better than Google, so it shouldn't surprise you when you see a blog placed higher in the Yahoo! SERP than in the Google SERP.

Remember that each page, no matter how new, needs its own title and description. META tags are not as important in Google as they are in Yahoo!

In conclusion, enough quality content, good keyword choice and relevant linking will bring you results in all search engines, no matter the algorithm differences. But if you optimize for Yahoo! it is always useful to know that content is really the key. <bio>Scott Lindsay is a web developer and entrepreneur.
Bloggers often ask how to get their blog listed in the major search engines.

Here's how:

1. Submit Directly: Submit your blog via Google's free submitting form. http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

2. Submit your sitemap to Google. http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

3. Submit your site to DMOZ, the Open Directory Project. Keep in mind that http://DMOZ.com is run by volunteers; therefore it may take some time before you are listed and a submission does not guarantee listing.

4. Get a Qualified Backlink: Get linked from a website that search engines crawl regularly and add your link to forum signatures. Google states, "Google's robots jump from page to page on the web via hyperlinks, so the more sites that link to your pages, the more likely it is that we'll find them quickly."

5. If your blog isn't already listed in Google's Blog search engine, you can submit it manually. Add your blog to Google's Blog Search. http://blogsearch.google.com/ping

It usually takes a new website about a month before it's fully indexed by Google. Google Blog Search indexes blogs by their site feeds, so be sure that you publish a site feed.

Keep in mind that, while Google dominates the web, it isn't the only search engine on the web.

Yahoo Search is one of the major search engines and directories online as well, so you are going to want to submit your blog to Yahoo's Directory. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?17051064

It could take eight to ten weeks before you are listed in Yahoo.

Yahoo Site Explorer allows you to explore all the web pages indexed by Yahoo Search. http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

Submit your blog to Yahoo Site Explorer. http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit

Submit Your Feed to the Yahoo! RSS Browse-by-Topic Directory. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/my/cgi_rss_submission

Submit your Media RSS Feed to Yahoo! Search -http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/submit?

You can submit your blog to Msn at http://search.msn.com.sg/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD

SubmitExpress.com will submit your blog free to the top 20 + Search engines.

If you don't already have a Technorati account, sign up for one at http://Technorati.com and claim your blog at Technorati. Technorati is a popular weblog search engine.

Bloggertalk.net offers a list of blog directories where you can also submit your blog to increase your exposure online. http://www.bloggertalk.net/blog_resources-cat-369.html

When submitting to directories, be sure to take the time to read the submission guidelines provided by each blog directory.

Getting listed in the major search engines alone doesn't guarantee traffic. Your blog content guarantees that.
Many people claim that there is no such a thing as Sandbox in Google and Yahoo. Google's representative even came out and denied the `Sandbox' concept. Sandbox effect is just too obvious to deny. They are just playing the words. Yes you can say that there is no such thing as a `Sandbox', but there is a fact that new websites don't rank well in competitive keywords. So, the `Yes' or `No' answer is really depends on the definition of what a `Sandbox' is.

In the SEO industry, almost everyone knows a newly registered domain doesn't rank well in competitive keywords. These new baby websites can still rank well or even become number one search result in some niche keyword phrases. A little earlier I talked about how to have a Google Sandbox escape in the other article, now I would like to talk about Yahoo Sandbox escape to help new websites to rank well in competitive terms.

Google is more machine based, so what you need is to play with their algorithm. Yahoo is a relatively more commercial search engine. As you can notice their search result has more commercial sites on the top 10 results while Google has more non-commercial sites. Although Yahoo heavily relies on the machine to get the search result, it still manually changes the results to reach Yahoo's best interested. In the contrast, Google almost totally reply on its calculations and data without manual input on getting the search results. So when you search for `search engine', Google does not appear as the number one in their own result!

For a Yahoo Sandbox escape, you might need to spend some money on there directories. Although Yahoo directories are not appearing in the Yahoo front page anymore, people still use it for search. And the greatest thing about directory listing is that you can almost immediately (a few days) jump from number 260 to top 20 for a competitive keyword after your site is included in their directories. And you actually get real traffic from these listings. The directory would give you not only one link but at least 8 links. For example, you are listed in `oil painting' category. You would be listed in oil painting category of Yahoo US, Australia, Canada, India, Philippine=85 For Yahoo, you know you are a VIP because you will rank exceptionally well compare to your competitors with the same amount of back links.

What frustrates me is your title and description in Yahoo search will be changed. Yahoo stuff would manually make a title and description for your page. And your title would often appear to be your domain name. If your domain name doesn't have anything to do with your content topic, the searcher might not click into your site even though you are the top search result. What can you do? After you have build a lot of quality back links and your site has grown old, you cancel the listing. <bio>Please feel free to use my content and give credits by linking back to us with anchor texts.
Article marketing is becoming more popular as webmasters realize the value in their content. Because of article marketing's popularity, there are literally thousands of article directories all over the internet, with new ones being launched every day. Today, finding the right article directory can seem to be a daunting task.

So, the question becomes, how do you determine which article directories are the best?

Though there are several websites where you could find hundreds of article directories ranked according to popularity, it is best that you make your own evaluation based on your niche as well as your personal preference. Here are a few factors for you to consider when ranking article directory sites.

1) How old is the site?

With the launch of the Wayback Machine, it is now possible for anyone to check web pages that have been archived since 1996. Enter the names of the article directories you are considering and find out how old they are. In this case, the older the better. Google looks at site age for trustworthiness.

If you can't find a site in the Wayback Machine, try doing a whois search. This will give you the date the domain was first registered.

2) Find Google and Yahoo backlinks

If you have already submitted articles to various article directories, enter the title of a few of your older articles and do a Yahoo as well as a Google search.

See where your article is ranked in the search. The articles that are in the top few spots would have been submitted to well-established directories or what Google considers to be the best content display.

The higher up an article directory is listed on Yahoo and Google, the more effective it is.

3) Look at PageRank

PageRank is the numeric value that Google assigns to every web page and is an indication of the importance of a website. The numbers range from 0- 10, with 10 being the most important. Submitting your articles to directories with higher PageRanks can increase your exposure manifold. <bio>http://www.LinkAcquire.com will get you higher search engine rankings through one way linking services. </bio>

In an article appearing in USA Today on Monday July, 16th, 2006, speaks to the fact that click fraud has hit a peak where the advertisers of Google adwords and Yahoo sponsored listings are paying far more money for illegitimate clicks than ever before. Click fraud occurs in pay-per-click web marketing, when a user or computer programs click on a sponsored link on a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, where the competitor's true goal is trying to deplete adversary's marketing budgets, through fraudulent charge to the advertiser.

For costly search phrases, those over $2 per click that generally comprise the majority of an advertiser's total expenditure; click-fraud was 20.2 percent, according to a survey by Click Forensics.

"For the first time, we have industry data that clearly shows what many have expected -- organizations purchasing higher-priced search terms are significantly more vulnerable to click fraud," said Tom Cuthbert, president and chief executive of Click Forensics, in a statement.

Both Google and Yahoo have been sued via class action lawsuits for this practice and both Google and Yahoo have decided to settle these class-action lawsuits to limit their prospective liability for previous click fraud. The article states, "If approved, the two settlements would address any click fraud that occurred amid more than $22 billion of ad spending... A two-day court hearing on Google's offer to pay up to $90 million in refunds and attorney fees is scheduled to begin July 24... Yahoo's proposed settlement, which doesn't limit how much the company might pay, will take place in a California Federal court."

Perhaps, the most appalling aspect to this whole case is a statement made by Google in March where a company agent stated that from an economic viewpoint it was logical to "let it happen".

Google may be getting out of this case easy, if in fact they are allowed to payout only $90 million dollars. Where Yahoo will not limit the amount of damages they may pay. It should be noted that in the latest ComScore report, Google accounted for almost 50% of the search engine market share, while Yahoo only accounted for 28%.

"The settlement is just a joke," said plaintiff Joseph Kinney, a security consultant who said he has lost about $1,500 to click fraud on ads related to his SafeSpaces.com Web site. "A jury needs to hear these issues and Google needs to be held accountable."

The latest lawsuit to deny the proposed settlement argues that the settlement should be rejected because it would not "adequately compensate advertisers who lost money from fraud".

"Under the settlement, Google can pay a half a percent of your losses, or $5 on every $1,000 of losses claimed", said an attorney for the plaintiff. For instance, a loss of $10,000 would garner a coupon worth $50 from Google that could used only to buy more advertising through Google. <bio>The above article was written by Attorney Michael Goldstein, of http://www.goldsteinandclegglaw.com/ - Attorney Goldstein is a licensed Massachusetts lawyer who practices in the area of cyberlaw, and intellectual property law. </bio>

Want to get into the top 5 of either Google or Yahoo? Make sure your website contains the top 10 factors for deciding a top search engine ranking.

It does not matter if you have the cure for cancer, if nobody knows about it you are not going to make any money. A top search engine ranking in either Google or Yahoo is the surest way for buyers to find your products so you can become a wealthy marketer. Google and Yahoo are responsible for about 80% of all search engine traffic in the world.

Make sure your online business or website contains these top 10 factors used for determining sites with a top 5 search engine ranking in Google and Yahoo.

Factor #1: Number of Quality Sites that Link to Yours

Google and Yahoo put a lot of significance on how many quality sites link back to yours with a page rank of at least 4 and above. This is probably the most important factor when considering a top search engine ranking.

When search engines see lots of important sites link back to yours it must mean that your site is also pretty important.

Remember the purpose of the internet is to provide information back to the end user. As someone is conducting research on the World Wide Web, sites must also participate and flow and connect to other related sites allowing those searching for your keyword terms various paths to the information being inquired.

Factor #2: Number of Pages Your Website Has

A website with less than 50 pages is really going to struggle to get a top search engine ranking unless it has more quality back links coming into it than their competitors.

Factor #3: Keywords in Your Title Tag

Google and Yahoo look to see if your keywords are contained in your page title and description. Make sure your keywords are also listed within your heading and subheading tags.

Factor #4: Keywords Showing in Links

Keywords that are highlighted within a link are considered more significant than those not at all highlighted within a link.

Factor #5: Keywords in Bold

Likewise words in bold are also considered more important than those not in bold.

Factor #6: Keywords in URL

Websites that are in less competitive markets that contain the keywords within their URL are considered more important than those sites that respectively do not.

Also keywords in the URL that come before unrelated words are considered better than a URL that follows an unrelated word within the URL. For example if your keyword is televisions, a URL with `televisions' followed by unrelated words such as your name `Mike' is better than putting your name `Mike' before `televisions.'

Factor #7: More Significance Given to First 25 Words on Page

The first 25 words of each page are given more weight than all other words on the page. Make sure your keywords are in the first few words of your page. However, if you try and just list the same word or phrase 25 times repeatedly Google and Yahoo will penalize you.

Factor #8: Greater Than 300 Words on Your Homepage

Make sure you have at least 300 or more words on your homepage.

Factor #9: Keyword Density

Keyword density is not as important as it once was in the past but it still is an important factor. In order to get a top 5 search engine ranking look at your competitors sites and compare the density of their sites to yours and try and match their density.

Factor #10: Page Rank

Want to find out the page rank of your website or the page rank of another site? Download the Google toolbar and make sure the page rank indicator is activated. One major factor in determining your page rank is the first factor listed in this article. Quality back links are the most important factor for formulating your page rank.

A top search engine ranking in Google and Yahoo is decided most often by the combination of these 10 factors. If you want to get into the top 5 of the two most important search engines than make sure your website applies these major search engine ranking factors. <bio>Tim McGaffin has helped many online businesses acheive their financial goals. There is a big difference between the two. Matt Cutts is a really smart guy and a lot of people read his blog. When interviewed the stories have titles like "Matt Cutts on SEO". But in reality, he works for Google and the story should read "Matt Cutts on Google Optimization".

We all know that more searches are performed at Google than any other search engine or portal. But a good SEO Professional will tell you that putting all of your eggs into just one basket is a bad idea, even if the basket is really big.

SEO is more than just optimizing your website for the Google Search Engine. You want traffic from multiple sources, not just one. Can you survive on just Google traffic alone? Yes. You can survive on bread and water for awhile too, but do you want to?

MSN Traffic converts higher for some websites than Google Traffic does and vice versa. Yahoo traffic converts higher than either one of those for some products and services. Then there is Ask, AOL, Dogpile, Alta Vista, and many others out there. Some are just compilations of results from other search engines and some have their own way of rankling sites. You want traffic coming in from all of them, not just Google.

You can also get quality traffic from email marketing, advertising on websites that target the same audience as you, press releases, article marketing, web directory submissions, and more. All of these sources can bring you more traffic and sales.

Number of Searches VS Number of People

On SEO Blogs and Forums you see people arguing that Google has 60% or 70% or 80% of the traffic and the numbers they use change with each post they make. There is a huge problem with their numbers.

More experienced Internet users generally use Google, while newer users tend to use MSN, Yahoo, or AOL. How do I know? When you bought your last new computer, what was the default home page? More than likely it was MSN. Yahoo seems to become many people's home page as well because of their advertising and marketing strategies combined with Yahoo Chat and Yahoo Mail. If the user chose AOL as their internet service provide as millions of people have, then AOL becomes their home page.

Newer users do not tend to change their home page as much as you might think. Many don't even know they can or know how to do it. So they use the search feature found on their home page.

Now add to that, more experienced users search more times per day than less experienced users. SEO Persons, Web Designers, Marketers, and other Techies do as many as 20-30 searches or more per day. Researchers, Writers, Teachers, Professors, and others may even search more times than that per day.

Newbies or part time Internet users would consider 10 searches in one day a lot. Many of them likely search way less times than that per day.

So Google has, well let's say, 70% of all searches done in search engines. But each person who uses Google searches an average of 10 times per day to use a low figure.

Yahoo has about 15% of the searches made each day. Let's say their users search an average of 5 times per day.

Now let's take a sampling of 100,000 searches. Many more than that are done each day, it's just a round figure to work with. 70,000 of those made at Google and 15,000 of those made at yahoo. That would mean the 70,000 searches at Google were performed by 7,000 people. The 15,000 searches at yahoo would represent 3,000 people. So Google would have 2 1/3 more people searching than yahoo.

But when you say 70% of the searches vs. 15% of the searches, it makes it sound like Google represents 4 2/3 more people than yahoo. The Number of searches vs. the number of actual people searching tells two completely different stories.

Traffic from other websites, web directories, article marketing, press releases, smaller search engines and directories, and more are not counted when people talk about these percentages either. This means if you factor in all of the other traffic sources, Google becomes even smaller in terms of actual number of people.

What About Social Bookmarking?

Now if you want to really talk about percentages, the growth of social bookmarking and social networking has really changed the numbers. Many people today find what they are looking for at social bookmarking websites and for many these sites are now their home page.

Millions of people are using Technorati, Digg, Delicious, Mixx, Sphinn, Facebook, UAN.ME, Blog Catalog, Bloglines, and other Social Networking and Blog Search Websites

So why is it when people compare searches done at Google, msn, and yahoo, don't they include the number of searches done at social bookmarking sites in the equation?

The Internet is evolving. Social Bookmarking is becoming the primary source for information for millions of users.

I'll close this by saying once again; do not gamble all of your resources on just one source of traffic. Do not ignore Google because more searches are done there than any other search portal, but diversify your SEO Strategy to combine all of the different sources of traffic if you want to guarantee the stability of your online business.<bio>Chris McElroy aka NameCritic provides complete SEO Services that help you get traffic from many different sources.
Google is the Web's most popular search engine, powering not only the popular Google.com Website, but also Yahoo! and AOL. Being listed in Google is very important, and being listed highly in Google is the goal for all internet marketers.

But how do we go about doing it? How to get rank high in those search engines?

If you have been around the internet marketing world then you would have known, in order to position high in Yahoo andamp; MSN, you need to pay a high price for your site to be listed high. However there are many myths about how Google works and, while fairly harmless in themselves, these myths tend to allow people to draw incorrect conclusions about how Google works. The purpose of this article is to correct the most popular Google myth.

Top No. 1 Myth: The Higher Your Google PageRank (PR), the Higher You'll be in the Search Results Listing

This myth is frequent, and is the source of many complaints. People often notice that a site with a lower PageRank is actually listed above their high ranked site, and got upset. While pages with a higher PageRank do tend to rank better, but it is perfectly normal for a site to appear higher in the results listings even though it has a lower PageRank than competing pages.

The reason behind this is Google is also examine the context of your incoming links, and only those links that relate to the specific keyword being searched on will help you achieve a higher ranking for that keyword. Therefore, even if you have thousands of incoming links to your site and with a high page rank, it's still very possible for a site with a lower PageRank to in get a higher listing position, if the site has more of the high page ranked links with the on-topic contents in those sites then in which case the site with a lower PageRank will be listed above its competitor in the search results for that term. <bio>Make $30,000 Per month PT/FT Start today!! <a href="http://moneymadam.11k4u.hop.clickbank.net" >http://moneymadam.11k4u.hop.clickbank.net </bio>

Building a website can be an arduous and time consuming task, especially if you don't have the right tools. There are so many web hosting companies out there that profess to make things different, but that isn't always the case. As a matter of fact, it rarely is the case. Yahoo web hosting is different. For a small fee, you can get set up with everything that you need to get your website up and running the right way the first time. No matter what type of website you are looking to build, Yahoo web hosting has the tools that you need to make things go as easy on you as humanly possible.

Easy to Use Web Authoring Tools

One of the best things about Yahoo web hosting is that you can get your website up and running quickly. These tools aren't so generic that your site looks like everyone else's website, but they do offer design templates that make it easier to put up your site than you ever thought possible. And Yahoo Web Hosting is compatible with 3rd party web authoring tools such as DreamWeaver or FrontPage.

Turn Visitors to Customers

There is no use in having a website if nobody visits it, and there is no use in having visitors if your visitors don't make money for you. Yahoo web hosting gives webmasters the tools that they need to be able to turn website visitors converting into paying customers.

The service gives webmasters all of the tools they need to convert traffic into customers, including a way to track the number of visitors who come to your site on a daily basis as well as the search engines that brought them there. Keyword research is a breeze with Yahoo web hosting as well; the keywords that were used to draw people in to your site are all at your fingertips as well as the referrer web sites. The Yahoo web hosting service definitely takes the guesswork out of being a webmaster. You can know exactly what to target and who to target without having to spend all of your time researching trends, and that is one aspect in which the service definitely pays for itself in the end.

A $100 credit towards the Yahoo search marketing program, a $50 credit toward the Google AdWords pay per click program and a free submission of your site into the major search engines=97Yahoo and Google are all included with your subscription.

Your Options are Open

With Yahoo web hosting, you only have to pay for the web site hosting plan that matches your needs. Whether you need a Yahoo Merchant site or a Yahoo Store account, which offers ecommerce to the public, the Yahoo service has got you covered. This gives you the freedom to conduct your business the way you want and grow with time.

Security in the Yahoo Service

The Yahoo web hosting services provide more than 200 email addresses for your business and you can rest assured that they give you more storage than you will ever need. SpamGuard keeps those nasty spam emails away from your business so that you and your employees can stay focused on work and not have to worry about computer security and spam. You can get access to Norton Antivirus as an extra measure of protection as well, so any malware that gets through is immediately taken care of.

Support When You Need it Most

We all need a little bit of help sometimes, and Yahoo's hosting service gives you all of the support that you need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With personal service and prompt attention, what more could you ask for in support?

Yahoo web hosting is where it's at in the world of web hosting. For small businesses with big aspirations, there are few services better than this. <bio>Russell Blanc is an expert in the web hosting industry and Yahoo Small Business and manages an information-rich web site at http://www.Website-HostingCo.com about Yahoo Small Business and Yahoo Web Hosting exposing the features and benefits of Yahoo properties. </bio>

A lot has been said about getting higher rankings in Google, and virtual space is literally overflowing with information detailing how you should make website submissions to Google, get a higher Pagerank and higher Google rankings ad infinitum. However, in the bargain of submitting to Google, many webmasters forget the second most important search engine on the internet--Yahoo. When it comes to people looking for certain information and products, then Yahoo also has a dedicated clientele that cannot be ignored when making search engine submissions. A small yet comprehensive guide about getting listed in Yahoo is as follows:

• The first thing that you need to do before you submit to Yahoo is to analyze whether your webpage actually has original and valuable content. Pages that focus on human beings rather than search engines are appreciated by Yahoo and as a result, you will rank higher if you provide good content interspersed with useful hyperlinks and accurate meta tags.

• The key to getting higher rankings in Yahoo search results is to submit your webpage to the most apt category available. When making website submissions to Yahoo, make it a point to locate the correct category for your website, since this would help in getting your site listed quickly and easily.

• When making web site submissions to Yahoo or even when making other search engine submissions, make it a point to adhere to all their rules and regulations. Search engines can afford to be quite pricey and ignoring a small rule or by rule can get your site blacklisted.

• A particular idiosyncrasy related to Yahoo is that the search engine condemns the use of promotional copy on websites. As a result, you might face problems getting your site listed if it is full of promotional words like best, cheapest and unrivalled when making web site submissions to Yahoo.

• Most search engine bots have become quite savvy and are undoubtedly becoming savvier by the day. Avoid keyword stuffing on your site since this will only create problems for getting your sites listed with search engines. Make sure that you have a low keyword density and that your text makes sense to human beings before making search engine submissions.

• When making search engine submissions to Yahoo, you will need to provide them with correct information since the provision of any kind of misinformation regarding your business; its policies and procedures will be taken as fraud. So be doubly careful while filling out search engine submission forms and double check the information that you provide to prevent any future problems.

• Yahoo requires that you provide them with a physical business address, instead of just a mailing one. This is a good thing too since it keeps scammers out.

• Remember that your site will not be looked upon favorably if you have links on link farms and if you have resorted to paid linking. The same case applies if you have your back links on sites that are blacklisted. Excessive keyword stuffing and content duplication will also lead you nowhere when you are making search engine submissions. Apart from these, you should also avoid using any cloaking techniques or methods that will temporarily inflate your search engine rankings, and hopefully, you will be able to make search engine submissions that get you high search engine rankings in Yahoo.<bio>Terry is the owner of one of the Internet's most popular site promotion websites - www.iSellPagerank.com.
Introduction

Google's search engine undoubtedly changed the world of search and the Internet by storm when it first came out. With its simple design and fast relevant results Google fast became the number one search engine in existence and Google soon became a household name. Yahoo! and other search engines were clearly affected, but with Yahoo's wide range of product offerings Yahoo was still safe and had their own niche. Google, however, started offering other products that clearly stepped on Yahoo's toes and the battle began. One such product is Gmail. Gmail shocked the other email providers out of their complacency when they offered 1GB of space for their users and along with it introduced cool new features (i.e. conversations) previously unheard of in the email industry. Gmail also operated with unprecedented speed and left new users wondering how they ever had the patience with their other email providers' speed. Yahoo then became clearly competitive and started ramping up their efforts to improve not only Yahoo Mail but their whole line of products. They knew that the days of complacency were over. Finally they had a worthy competitor. As for the users, good times was coming because with competition came better services for them.

Many of Google and Yahoo's products offerings, like web and image search, are almost indistinguishable from the user's point of view. However, there are also products that differ quite significantly, reflecting Google and Yahoo's difference in their general approach. One such is the Alerts. Google and Yahoo Alerts are simply updates on certain topics of interest delivered to individual users. Google and Yahoo Alerts differ in the kinds of alerts they offer, in the look, and the features they bring. A casual glance at their alerts page would even make a user think that they do not have the same function.

Google Alerts

Google Alerts, just like their web search, is a simple, no fuss, and result oriented product. It gives email updates of the relevant Google results based on your choice of query or topic. Google Alerts deliver updates only via email and gives the users the option of telling Google how frequently they want to receive updates. Google Alerts offer only three types of alerts based on Google search results from the Web, the News, and blogs. It is somewhat limited compared to the alert types that Yahoo has to offer. However, since it is query-based the alerts can be virtually about anything you are interested in getting updates of. The key with Google Alerts is to enter keywords or key phrases that will give you the most relevant results.

The Google Alerts page is very simple and is very easy to manage. It, however, lacks any aesthetic appeal whatsoever, except maybe for the fact that the text is very readable and the color scheme is not garish. The alerts page looks really bland. But for those who are after function and relevancy of results this should be no problem.

Google is however out to address the problem of visual design. For the first time since Google came out they have asked a visual design guru to join the company to give their products a much needed facelift. Hopefully Google Alerts will be one of the first to get some makeup on.

Yahoo Alerts

Yahoo Alerts offers a volley of alert types. Some of the alert types are: Missing Children, Auctions, Breaking News, Feed/Blog, Health News, Horoscope, Mail, Market Summary, Movie Recommendations, Music, Sports, Stocks, The Apprentice: Donald Trump, Traffic, Weather, Travel Destinations, Yahoo! 360, etc. Each alert type has a different format and has to be activated in different ways. For example to for Blog Alert users have to enter the URL for a website's RSS feed, choose how often they want to be updated, and then choose the mode of delivery. For Travel Destinations Alerts users have to choose among a list of cities the destination they are interested in. Yahoo will then send the users updates on airfare, hotel and car deals for that destination as well as photos, reviews, and news. The alert types Yahoo offers are very interesting and varied and will surely be of importance to many people. Due to the many options it appears to be more customizable than Google alerts. However, since the alert types are all pre-packaged there is actually less versatility as compared to the alerts one can get from Google, which if used properly can actually give you a more customized and specific alert.

An advantage Yahoo Alerts has over Google alerts is their varied modes of delivering the updates. Google sends updates to users through email only but Yahoo users have the choice of receiving updates through emails, yahoo messenger, and even their mobile phones and other mobile devices. This is of course very useful to users who are not online all the time and wish to be updated whenever and wherever they are.

Another big plus for Yahoo is their look. The Yahoo Alerts home looks simple and but is very pleasing to the eye. It's very easy to shift from creating new alerts to managing your present alerts. The format for creating each new alert is not very consistent though (i.e compare create Music Alerts and Destination Alerts). The inconsistency is not such a big deal but I would prefer a more consistent look so as to not be confusing and generally pleasing. That's just my preference though. But for the eye candy factor, Yahoo Alerts, unsurprisingly, wins over Google Alerts.

Using Yahoo and Google Alerts

The key to making either of the two alerts work for you is your innovativeness. Although most users probably use Yahoo and Google alerts to simply keep track of simple updates like the weather, stocks and news, which by the way are the most popular types of Yahoo Alerts, some users have taken it a step further and made the alerts work for them. People use the alerts not only to keep track of their interests but to keep track of other things as well like:

•their competition •how widely and how fast their press releases are being picked up by other publications •emerging trends •websites that are try to sell hacks or downloads of a certain software owned or sold by their company •add a news update section to their site

These examples can be found on a forum discussion on Google and Yahoo Alerts from Web Pro World. <bio>http://www.theinternetone.net </bio>

There are many Search Engines and Directories, but only a few major ones will bring you most traffic. In this article I will describe how to submit your site to Yahoo, Google and Open Directory

1.) Directories And Indexes

First, I would like to describe a difference between Directory and Index. Directory is a collection of links divided by subjects just like Yahoo Directory at dir.yahoo.com. Let's say you are interested in Finance. Go to Business andamp; Economy section and press Finance. You will find variety of topics listed under Finance.

Index is the number of sites available for search. For example, you go to Yahoo.com and enter andquot;Napoleonandquot; in search box. Results will show a number of sites related to Napoleon in Yahoo Index. The same is true for any other search term. There are millions of sites in listed in major Indexes.

2.) How To Submit Your Site To Yahoo Directory

Listing with Yahoo Directory will provide several benefits for your site. First of all, you will get some traffic from Yahoo Directory. However, number of visitors will depend on category where your site is listed. There are some highly competitive categories that may not generate much traffic. Also some search indexes are more likely to include your site if you are listed with Yahoo Directory or Open Directory Project which is discussed later in this article.

You must decide what category your page will be listed under before before submitting it to Yahoo Directory. Usually there is more than one category appropriate for your site. You have to decide which one works best for you based on several factors: relevance, number of competing sites under the category. For example my site www.yourcareerlinks.com is listed under Business andamp; Economy - Employment And Work - Careers And Jobs - Jobs - Directories.

In order to suggest your site to Yahoo Directory, select your category and click Suggest A Site link located below upper right corner. If your category is commercial, you can list your site only through Express submission.

Express submission costs $299. Yahoo editors check your site within 7 days. Please read Yahoo instructions carefully. Your payment of $299 doesn't guarantee automatic inclusion. If they approve it, your site will be listed in Yahoo Directory and you will pay $299 annually to maintain it in the directory.

Yahoo Standard Submission is free for non-commercial sites. Yahoo doesn't state when your site will be reviewed with free submission. If you have time to wait, you may try this option.

3.) How To Submit Your Site To Yahoo Index

When you go to http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html, first option is to submit your site for free to Yahoo Search Index. Before you do that, your site must be optimized for Search Engine inclusion with appropriate titles and meta tags. Below you will see what title and meta tags look for this page:

Web Marketing, How To Submit Your Site To Search Engines

Title describes your page in a few words. META name=andquot;DESCRIPTIONandquot; is a short outline of what your web page is about. META name=andquot;KEYWORDSandquot; includes keywords relevant to the page. Each page of your site may have different Title and Meta Tags

The purpose of relevant titles and Meta Tags is to help web surfers to identify sites they are looking for through descriptions and keywords. However, it is quiet hard to get top Search Engine placement ( whch is to get listed among first 20- 30 results ) these days. There are many competitors, rules and criterias are constantly changing and it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain high ranking in the Index.

Chances are that your site is not going to be listed high with Indexes. Therefore, my recommendation is to use free submission options to Yahoo Search Index or any other Search Index for that matter unless you are an expert in Search Engine optimization and ranking. You don't want to pay to get ranked number 256 or whatever.

4.) How To Submit Your Site To Google

Google is another major Search Engine. They offer two opportunities to market your site. You can submit the site to Google Index for free here. As I stated before, you probably are not going to get high ranking, but you might get some clicks from Google if your site will be listed.

Another option to advertise with Google is through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Program called Google AdWords. You can read in my article about Pay-Per-Click marketing here.

5.) Open Directory Project

Open Directory Project is directory of web sites managed by volunteer editors. Inclusion is free, but it has to be approved by editor. There is no time frame as to when your site will be reviewed. If your site is not listed within a few months after you applied, you can submit it again. Open Directory is located at www.dmoz.org. You should find appropriate category for your site and submit it.

There are other Search Engines out there. Many are based on Yahoo or Google Search. For example, Alta Vista (www.altavista.com ) is now based on Yahoo Search index. Therefore, if your site is listed with Yahoo Search Index, it is probably listed in Alta Vista as well. Some offer paid inclusion in their Index such as Excite while others like Lycos offer Pay Per Click options

In my opinion, the best way to bring traffic to your site is to list it with Yahoo, Google and Open Directory Project. In addition, one should use Pay Per Click marketing which is explained in my PPC Marketing Article at http://www.webhostchecklist.com/payperclick.html . <bio>Archie Lubman http://www.webhostchecklist.com/tophosts.html </bio>

If you are marketing your site on the search engines, the keywords you choose for your site are crucial. Choosing the right keywords for your site should be the first step in search engine marketing.

The key to choosing the best keywords is to choose keywords that are properly targeted, high volume, and low competition.

Targeting

When choosing your keywords, choose keywords that will give you prospects that are likely to buy your product. For example, if you are selling Oriental Rugs, the keyword "rugs" would be an okay keyword. The keyword "oriental rugs" would be better, and the keyword "buy oriental rugs" would be ideal.

Search volume

When choosing a keyword, you'll want to know how many people are searching for that particular keyword. The easiest way to do this is to use the Yahoo Search Marketing keyword suggestion tool. This tool will tell you how many people on the Yahoo network searched for that keyword last month.

Another good tool is the Digital Point keyword suggestion tool, which will give you data from the Yahoo network and from Wordtracker.

Competition Level

The competition level for a particular keyword can be a little tougher to determine. For PPC marketing, the Yahoo View Bids Tool is very helpful. This tool will show you what advertisers are bidding per click for a keyword. This tool is also helpful for SEO, but there are other ways to determine the SEO competitiveness of a keyword.

Using Google, you can get quite a bit of data that can help you determine how many websites have been optimized for keyword, and how well they have been optimized. Use Google to check on:

How many sites are returned for "keyword" How many sites are returned for "allintitle: keyword"

Then, use Yahoo or MSN, to see how many backlinks the top ranked sites for the keyword have. <bio>Evolution Internet Ltd offers a range of Keyword Research related services: http://www.evolution-internet.com/60/keyword-research.aspx </bio>
