There are several ways that wrestling fans can gain access to all the information they need about World Wrestling Entertainment action. So many avenues of entertainment are offered because the WWE is one of the largest wrestling organizations in the world. The wrestling action that fans are privy to is top notch and guaranteed to bring them hours of thrilling entertainment throughout the week.

A great deal of access to World Wrestling Entertainment action can be gained through the WWE internet website. Throughout the week, fans can check this internet site and find out who was defeated in matches that occurred the day before, or see who is scheduled to attend the next Survivor Series showdown and which wrestlers will be paired off against each other. There is plenty of bad blood among professionals wrestlers today, because they have been tangling with each other for years, and the action can get very intense and gory at times.

When fans want to see what is happening with the superstars of the World Wrestling Entertainment world, they can turn to many television programs and see those superstars in live events. The WWE hosts Raw and Smackdown on a regular basis and fans of such wrestlers as Triple H or Randy Orton can see what grueling encounters they had to go through and learn what the ultimate outcome was for those wrestling matches.

The World Wrestling Entertainment network also offers a variety of entertainment to fans. The fans can also keep up with the latest divas of wrestling and find out who they are with from week to week. Some wrestling matches in the WWE center on the women of wrestling and the championship titles that they win during the course of a year. The women of wrestling are very beautiful and are sure to bring a wide range of entertaining conflicts to the ring when they wrestle week to week.

The World Wrestling Entertainment network sponsors a diva search throughout the year because fans deserve to see beautiful ladies that are also outstanding athletes in their own right. The WWE will schedule many matches for these women and the physical contact will be harsh and brisk because these women are still trying to prove their worth and become a household name just like their predecessors. Of course, in wrestling, there is always going to be eliminations but these ladies handle it in stride.

The Survivor Series is but one wrestling event sponsored by the World Wresting Entertainment network that fans are willing to pay good money to see. Fans love this type of wrestling because it does not require them to leave home, and they can invite friends over for an evening of World Wrestling Entertainment action that is sure to be very thrilling and rewarding. Fans love being able to see the live action of professional wrestling at home and friends can split the cost and have a great time.

Fans have access to a treasure trove of wrestling action every year at the World Wrestling Entertainment sports spectacular adeptly named WrestleMania. This event features all types of live wrestling action and will usually include at least one cage match. WrestleMania XXIV will be held in Florida and is sure to be an entertainment spectacular that fans will not soon forget.
All you wrestling fans out there who aren't quite sure what to do for their next vacation should plan a visit to Oklahoma City. That's because the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Oklahoma City and it is a must see for anyone who enjoys wrestling. Here you will learn about wrestling's past, its present, and the plans for the future.

It is such an educational trip not to mention enjoyable that individuals who aren't that big on wrestling will probably even enjoy it. There really is a lot to learn because the sport of wrestling did not begin with the WWF - WWE. Instead, the sport had a much more modest beginning and the museum celebrates this as well as all the leaps and bounds the sport has made in popularity since.

When you head to the museum make sure you plan on arriving Monday through Friday 9 am until 4:30 pm or else by appointment on the weekends. Within the Museum you will see the Paul K. Scott Museum of Wrestling History, the John T. Vaughan Hall of Honors, Gable/Smith Room, FILA International Hall of Fame, William S. Heins Jr. Library, Cliff Keen Theater, as well as others. You will learn so much about wrestling that you never knew before when you visit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

When you visit Oklahoma City you will also find many other things to enjoy. You can play golf, go shopping, enjoy seeing professional sports games, and even more. Oklahoma City is the most populous city in the state of Oklahoma so there are lots of things for tourists to do and see here. You will love the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum as well as everything else there is to see and do.

There is a website that has great information on USA Vacations and Unique Travel Spots Listed State By State and Season, the website is called: Seasonal Vacation Spots, and can be found at this url:

http://www.seasonalvacationspots.com

By Robert W.
It has been rumored for some time that professional wrestling is not real but after viewing a professional wrestling match personally, there are many people who have had their opinion's altered or changed completely. The blood and gore that occurs during professional wrestling matches is very real and there are many doctor and hospital bills that can be verified to prove it those that are left doubting.

Since professional wrestling is centered on being a family entertainment venue, there is a considerable amount of censorship that takes place to quieting the actions that professional wrestlers take when they are in the ring on any given night. Every professional wrestler establishes a persona that is angled toward increasing public appeal in the sport and in the wrestler. All of the outrageous antics that a wrestler comes up with while training for matches from week to week to meant to gain a wider viewing audience.

All of these antics are meant to be a method of showmanship but there are times when the antics get out of hand and injuries occur where none were intended. The had hitting action that occurs in the ring is done in a pre-rehearsed skit that is meant to earn the professional wrestler a following of fans who grow to admire the way the professional wrestler handles themselves in the ring. When physical damage occurs to another wrestler at some point during the time in the ring, it almost guarantees that the two wrestlers will develop bad blood toward the other and revenge tactics are sure to follow in the very near future.

Other wrestlers might enter the ring when a wrestling match turns ugly. These professional wrestlers are viewed as the bad guys by the audience and are also viewed by the crowd during professional wrestling matches to be men that do not have a sense of honor. Anything could happen when they enter the ring because some of the wrestling moves that they choose to use are not sanctioned by any wrestling organization. The bad wrestlers show up in the ring just to add the the mayhem that is already in progress during the match.

A wrestling fan should expect to see many unsavory tactics used by these individuals when they are enjoying a professional wrestling match. It is not uncommon for these wrestlers to use any item available to get their point of displeasure across. Some professional wrestlers will incur many injuries during their time in the ring. At any time, they know they can become victims of assault by another wrestler. Being bashed in the back with steel chairs is a common tactic among wrestlers with no honor. Some relish in the reality of being able to toss a wrestler over the top rope without fearing any reprisals for slamming the wrestler into the arena floor.

Fans will certainly be exposed to a lot of violent behavior while viewing a professional wrestling match. The violence is what people seek when they buy their tickets and professional wrestlers do not have any plans that will disappoint those that expect the worst to happen on any night that a wrestling match is scheduled. Some wrestling fans will pay to view an ungodly amount of physical damage that is doled out to a wrestler during a match for a championship belt and the fans will look forward to seeing how that wrestler will retaliate after they lose the match. <bio>James Brown writes about http://www.sportposterdecorations.com </bio>

Wrestling and in particular that which is meant for entertainment has gradually gained its way to be one of the most popular sports for entertainment. A lot of people consider this form of entertainment to be one of their most favorite. There are lots of celebrities involved in this form of sport. In fact, wrestling is a worldwide entertainment.

The truth about this form of entertainment is that most of the actions are predetermined. This does not however reduce the number of spectators glued to this form of entertainment. More and more people are watching this sport on a daily basis and all over the world. The best way to believe in all these is to take some time out of your schedule and watch this highly entertaining sport.

World Wrestling Entertainment is a form of sport that has generated great characters and these characters have gained their places as celebrities in this sport. These have also generated lots of trade names and these are what spectators use in making out one actor and his traits from that of another. What is usually peculiar about these actors is that what they portray in the form of violent behavior towards others is usually faked. But all these are necessary in order to thrill the spectators. One of the most celebrated actors in this entertainment turns out to be John Cena. He has incredible talents to thrill the public. He is multitalented. Apart from being a strong wrestler, he is also an artist and equally a very good singer. Do you know that he is the present World Wrestling Entertainment title holder?

Where Did John Cena'S Career Begin?

It all started when he undertook wrestling lessons and he first came into light at the Ultimate Pro Wrestling. He was very successful at this stage and thought about joining the World Wrestling Entertainment, in which he signed a contract. It did not end here. His first television appearance was recorded on June 27th 2002 in which he wrestled against Kurt Angle. When he started his wrestling career, he was thought to be unequal against almost all his opponents. But he proved his detractors wrong and came out to be victorious over all his opponents. He also faced so many obstacles from his opponents. A good example is the fight which pitted him against Brock Lesnar, who was then the title holder. In this fight, his career almost came to a halt as a result of injuries sustained. Although this was one of his most difficult matches, this is where he picked up his trade name, F-U. This title was in response to F-5, title for Brock Lesnar. Later on he also took up the slogan "you can't see me" to be his trademark.

As far back as 2004, he has become so famous that he is known by every TV viewer. He also takes part in the Royal Rumble that comes every January. John Cena has preserved his position in this sport and was the 6th but was defeated by Big Show, another of wrestling celebrity. This defeat made him reconsider success as part and parcel of his career and he bounced back to defeat Big Show to become number one in the world of wrestling.

All wrestlers are looking forward to fight their way through and develop their own trade names that their fans will use to differentiate them from other wrestlers. Perhaps, they will one day be like john Cena who has adopted more than one trade name. World Wrestling Entertainment offers one of the most entertaining sports that can be watched wherever you find yourself. But it will be best for you if you take along your loved ones or friends and enjoy what the game has in store for you.<bio>Discover more information on trademark registering as well as tips on intellectual patent trademark when you visit http://www.howtotrademarkcopyright.com, the premier resources on how to trademark copyright.</bio>

Shuai Jiao is probably the world's oldest martial art. In modern Chinese, its name is used to refer to any wrestling sport. Outside of China, though, it means the ancient Chinese and Mongolian wrestling styles. Legend has it that Shuai Jiao is descended from a sport called Jiao Di, where the contestants wore helmets with horns on them and tried to head butt each other. I don't know about you, but I bet getting hit by one of those hurt! In 2687 BC, the Yellow Emperor's army even used Jiao Di to gore rebel soldiers.

Jiao Di didn't keep its horns, though. In the Qin Dynasty, it combined with the grappling sport called Jiao Li turned into a public sport for amusing the Imperial Court, and recruiting the best fighters for the Emperor's bodyguards in the process. I bet you didn't know that some contests could last a while week and have over a thousand wrestlers involved. Wrestling in some form or another was taught to soldiers for all of China's history, but it wasn't called Shuai Jiao until 1928 when the rules got standardized for competition. Now it's popular among the Mongols, and is taught to police and soldiers in China and Taiwan.

Now, when the Emperors were using Shuai Jiao to pick out the best bodyguards, fighters did their competitions bare-chested. Now training is done in a heavy cotton jacket for better protection. However, it's important to know that in Shuai Jiao, you don't try to get a hold on your opponent's clothes. Instead, you grab his muscles through the clothing and use that to throw him. The jacket you wear if you're learning Shuai Jiao has another use, too. It helps you control and throw your opponent by being close fitting and having short sleeves. You generally wear Chinese martial arts pants when learning how to do Shuai Jiao. You can practice barefoot, but a lot of people wear wrestling boots.

Although Shuai Jiao is the oldest martial art, it's split up into a bunch of different styles. In different regions of China, they practice Shuai Jiao with a little bit of a different flavor. So Beijing has its own style. Other major kinds of Shuai Jiao are Tian Jin, Mongolian or Boke, and Bao Ding, as well as a lot of minor variations in different provinces. You've got to expect that a martial art that's been around for thousands of years would have a few different ways of doing things.

Since Shuai Jiao developed from combat techniques on the battlefield, it doesn't beat around the bush. The grappling techniques it uses are no nonsense and practical, and they get your opponent on the ground as fast as possible. However, almost every martial art has some philosophy thrown in, and Shuai Jiao isn't an exception. The advanced fighter uses the principles of Yin and Yang to balance and complement each other. Shuai Jiao has been around for a long time as a fighting discipline, and it looks like it's here to stay. <bio>Yoshi I Kundagawa is a freelance journalist. It is most definitely a combat sport and also a self defense system. Sometimes referred to in the USA as Sombo, Sambo literally means "self-defense without a weapon" and has its roots in folk styles of wrestling like Mongolian Khapsagay, Armenian Koch and Georgian Chidaoba.

Although there is no real recognized founder of Sambo, Anatoly Kharlampiev is often officially stated as being the founder. Vasili Oshchepkov, who was shot during the political purges of 1933, and Viktor Spiridonov, due to a shoulder injury during the Russo-Japanese war, used Sambo as a soft, aikido-like system.

Sambo is one of the four styles of amateur wrestling practiced today, the other three are Greco-Roman wrestling, Freestyle wrestling and Judo. FILA accepted Sambo as the 3rd style of international wrestling in 1968. In 1985, the Federation International Amateur Sambo (FIAS) was formed. Sambo was a demonstration sport at the 1980 Moscow Olympics but due to the large number of boycotts that affected the games, numbers were insufficient for Sambo to be included in further games.

Originally a single system, there are now four recognized styles of Sambo. Borba Sambo or Sport Sambo is very similar to Judo or wrestling, but unlike Judo, allows leg locks but choke holds are forbidden. Self-defense Sambo is much like jujitsu or Aikido and works on the basis of defense against attacks armed and unarmed. Boyevoye Sambo or Combat Sambo was developed for the military and included the use of weapons and uses disarming techniques. Competition in these styles is like the older Judo combined with mixed martial arts with grappling and striking used extensively. The last style is Special Sambo, which was developed for the Special Forces of the Army and the Rapid Reaction Police and different branches of the service use different techniques. Those who participate in Sambo competitions normally wear either a red or blue jacket called a kurtka, a belt and shorts of the same color and Sambo shoes called sambovki.

Russian martial arts differ from those of the east in that they are not so much based on techniques but are based on training concepts. In Eastern martial arts, the instruction is through rehearsing moves and techniques where as in Sambo and other Russian forms, they are taught to use improvisation but within a certain structure. Students of this style are taught that pain is a penalty for an incorrect move and when you stop getting hurt, you are doing it right.

Today there are Sambo schools and teachers worldwide and the sports popularity has grown immensely in recent years. <bio>Yoshi I Kundagawa is a freelance journalist.
All fans of the WWE brand whether it's Raw, Smackdown! or ECW we all know once the show ends on that particular night you're counting down the days, minutes or hours until the next two hour event. Sure, the WWE has a website so you can get show recaps, other various news items, or a bit of info to wet your whistle that they just don't show on the television. But in reality, if you're a hardcore fan sometimes you need a real fix or supplement to hold you over until that next day of the week when the next event is all you care about.

Well the solution is in front of your face and you can now be "Smackdowned", "BodySlammed" or "Tossed Over The Ropes" any time your heart desires. You see, The WWE has been releasing DVD's recently that allow you to go back in time so you can recapture a special moment, see what you missed, and have countless hours of wrestling in the comforts of your home. The professional production of these videos is great and even though the feuds that fueled the matches might be gone from the current storyline they still hold enough weight to make them relevant. These matches caught on tape never seem to grow old. Plus, if you're just getting into the WWE brand it might give you the history you never knew about. Either way, you're going to be fully entertained and very pleased with what the videos have to offer.

Individual Story Lines that never grow old.

Individual stories have been featured on such WWE Superstars as The Rock, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Nature Boy Ric Flair. These DVD's are fairly inexpensive for the amount of material you get, again the production is very good and its kind of fun to see how young Jim Ross, Bruno Samartino, Haystacks Calhoun and The King look in some older footage. It's also interesting to see how the characters have changed and who they were called at the time of filing. Are you ware that Hunter Hearst Hemsley is now called Triple H. I am sure you were not until now.

Have You Attended any of the Live Events?

If you have been lucky enough to attend a live show for Raw, Smackdown! or ECW then chances are you can catch the rebroadcast on television or even on video and tell all your friends who weren't in attendance with you, "Hey, I was there! and it was awesome!". Clearly the best way to find out what happened, what you may have missed and to keep it forever is to buy a DVD of the event. These pay-per-view DVD's cost around $25.00, it's cheaper than going and they don't exclude anything. You miss nothing, get to see it over and over again and get something you can hold onto forever. Many times you'll get better coverage than if you attended, I know being in the arena and hearing the intros is electric and nothing can replace that but having the action in hand is just as fun. Just turn up your speakers on your surround, dim the lights and feel the electricity in your own home.

Pick Your Favorite Superstar and I am Sure the Video Exists

The Undertaker has been a phenom for many years in the WWE. His unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania has caused everyone to try and knock him off the top of the ladder. Although he's 16-0 at Wrestlemania he's still had some great matches that allowed The Dead Man to entertain us all. Here are a few memorable ones. The Undertaker v. Brett Hart at Summerslam 1997. This was Brett's last title reign after defeating The Undertaker. Wrestlemania 17 is where it looked like Triple H might end The Dead Mans winning streak but The Cerebral Assassin didn't know who he was dealing with. Badd Blood with Shawn Michaels in 1997 was the first Hell in a Cell match, and it was appropriately named, Kane made his first appearance in this legendary match. Kurt Angle's last great match in the WWE was No Way Out in 2006, both Superstars gave a great show and this ranks up there with one of the best performances ever.

So now is the time to bring the excitement of WWE Wrestling into the the comforts of your home. Just what exactly are you waiting for? You can catch all the WWE Wrestling excitement at www.mywrestlingstore.com<bio>Peter owns and operates several online stores including a WWE Wrestling site where he and his family enjoy hours of wresling excitement.
This is the 15th "Balistik Blabber" article and in case you just joined the bandwagon, I'm your host Wrestling game, bringing wonderful and sometimes awful memories of ex-WWE stars back into the spotlight! To my regular readers, thanks again for all the support! Your suggestions for this article are always appreciated!

I promised you something "awesome" for this week's article... and after researching the history of this guy, I am elated to say he is more than just "awesome"; he could very well be EPIC. I bring you one of the most agile heavyweights to grace the ring.

MIKE AWESOME!!

Nowadays we see a lot of "power" wrestlers doing lots of "power" moves like chokeslams, sidewalk slams and powerbombs. Unfortunately, most of them stick to just those moves causing critics to label them Joe-"5-moves"-Wrestler or something like that. Then we have Michael Lee Alfonso~

The cousin and childhood buddy of Horace Hogan, Michael and Horace were impressed at the success of Horace's uncle Hulk Hogan during the 1980s. Before I continue, I just want to point out people don't seem to think this 2nd degree connection makes Mike and Hulk Hogan related but oh well, you decide~ After training under Steve "Doink 2" Keirn, he started wrestling for Steve in Pro Wrestling Federation (PFW) in 1989. After that he wrestled for the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) for awhile and suddenly got a big break appearing in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) for the first time as...

A LUCHADOR!!!

As "The Pro", he basically jobbed but that is irrelevant. The following year (1990 to those not doing their math), Mike was on his way to Japan to work for Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW)!!! He used the name "The Gladiator" and began wearing face paint as part of the gimmick.

Standing 6 feet 7 inches, this guy was a sight to behold in Japan! Even more surprising, he was fast! He could run, he could jump, he would even do planchas and top rope maneuvers! It was in this fashion he made an impact in the company! It was here he would begin his monstrous feud with Japan's rock-headed Masato Tanaka and carry it over to Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW)! Working between FMW and ECW from 1990 to 2000, he got his first major title victories. These include the "FMW Brass Knuckles Tag Team Championship" together with Rick "Big Titan" Bogner in 1993 and then the "FMW Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Championship" against none other than the company's top performer HAYABUSA in 1995!!! After the match the two warriors embraced and showed respect for one another, truly a classic match... and it is now YOUR assignment to find and watch this match on YouTube! It'll be worth your while trust me~

Mike was forced to vacate the title due to an injury but later recaptured it in 1996. In a grand victory over W*NG Kanemura later that year he unified it with "FMW Independent Heavyweight Championship" making him a double-belt champion! The guy was ON FIRE as he added the "FMW World Street Fight 6-Man Tag-Team Titles" to his record the following year and thus making him a triple-belt champion!!!

Just a random story during his stay in Japan: he got in trouble with the Yakuza! To those who don't know, the "Yakuza" is Japan's version of the "Sicilian Mafia" or the "Chinese Triad". It happened in one FMW show where some Yakuza were beating the crap out of his friend Sabu (!) and he made the save. This forced Mike and the rest of the foreign talent of FMW to hide out in their lockers because the other members of the Yakuza were waiting to do evil things to them in the hallway! Thankfully, FMW veteran Atsushi Onita was able to grant them safe passage out of the arena and into safety!

Soon after the fall of FMW, Mike returned to ECW (1998) for his second run, along with Masato Tanaka to continue their hellacious feud. With each man picking up the victory after every other match they had, it seemed neither man would be the clear cut winner... until that year's "August Heat Wave" PPV where Tanaka got the win at the end of Mike's second ECW run. It would be on his 3rd time with ECW would he earn its top prize in a slobber knocker of a 3-way dance. Fighting against Taz and Tanaka, Mike would end the bout with his signature "AWESOME BOMB" on Tanaka to become the "ECW Heavyweight Champion" in 1999! The gold keeps on pouring with the attainment of the ECW World Tag Team Titles with Raven in 2000!! It seemed like everything was going Mike's way until that faithful April of 2000... Mike jumped ship to WCW while still the ECW champ, causing mayhem between the 2 companies! Before things got ugly with legal mumbo jumbo, a compromise was reached and Mike Awesome relinquished his title to Taz and continued on with WCW which would lead to one of his most embarrassing gimmicks ever... "The Fat Chick Thriller" and then later... "That 70's Guy"... I'd like to skip the details but that wouldn't make this a "fair" look into his career so instead, I'll summarize: both these gimmicks were "so-so" compared to his "neutral character". Thankfully, being the great wrestler he is, he still managed to put up impressive matches with these gimmicks. These matches include a grudge with Vampiro and the Insane Clown Posse. Other highlights of this time would be when he Awesome Bombed Hulk Hogan through a table (seriously, not a lot of people got to do that) and also when he threw Chris Kanyon off the first level of a three-level steel cage. Oh yeah, did I mention that "That 70's Guy" got a talk show segment called the "Lava Lamp Lounge"? Check this one out; he looks like a certain "Shame".

After nearly a WHOLE YEAR of having these gimmicks, he finally dropped them and became "The Career Killer". Surely you get the point just by reading those three words? It got changed to "The Canadian Career Killer" when he joined "Team Canada" with Lance Storm and Elix Skipper (I miss these guys...). Together they did great, except one time when Mike lost to Konnan in a "Hair VS Hair" match, costing him his mullet~ In 2001, WCW was finally purchased by the World Wrestling Federation (GASP! THE WORD THAT MUST NOT BE SPOKEN!!!) thus officially tying him to the biggest wrestling company of the country. He was put into the "Invasion" storyline and even got his first title, "The WWF Hardcore Title" (how befitting) when he attacked Rhyno who had just beaten Test for said belt. This was the only decent push he had until he lost the title to Jeff Hardy. Not happy with how the WWF runs things and completely livid at the intense backstage politics, he was extremely (no pun intended) overjoyed when he was fired. After the release, Mike went back to the indies, even appearing on Total Nonstop Action (TNA), and then for "Major League Wrestling" (MLW) in 2003. Here, he became MLW champion for 10 minutes after beating All Japan Pro Wrestling's (AJPW) Satoshi Kojima. It wouldn't be until 2 years later we would see him again facing his long-time rival Tanaka on the 1st "One Night Stand" PPV. Although Joey Styles and some of the fans seemed to hate him for his past actions, the crowd still cheered both men and gave a standing ovation to its finish: Awesome Bombing Tanaka to a table outside the ring, followed by a slingshot plancha and the pin.

In the following year of 2006, Michael Alfonso announced his retirement from professional wrestling. He wanted to be with his family and said that the only thing that would bring him back to the ring was a "decent pay", something he claims he rarely gets. It seemed like a pretty good end to a high-octane wrestling career...

Sadly on February 17, 2007, Michael was found lifeless in his Tampa, Florida home. He was 42 years old and survived by his wife and two children. Why it had to end like this we may never know but wherever he is, I can assure you he's still as awesome as he was when he was in the ring giving us great wrestling entertainment!

Thank you Mike... rest in peace!

Thanks for reading and I'll catch you all on the next issue of "Balistik Blabber" to see which ex-WWE talent will be remembered!<bio>http://TheWrestlingGame.com/Wrestling http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wrestling/articles/balistik_blabber_mike_awesome.asp</bio>

When the whistle blows and the match begins it's too late to wonder if you're cardiovascular training is going to carry you through to the end.

Wrestling is a high intensity sport. Thus, conditioning for wrestling calls for high intensity training. In addition wrestling not only requires high intensity power output but an ability to sustain this output for up 6 minutes. Cardiovascular conditioning is one of the most important aspects of a wrestler's training but many times we see wrestlers during the season running for miles only to find themselves tired after the first minute of a match. Many wrestlers ask why this is; the answer is simple, they are training the wrong energy system.

In part 1 of this series on cardiovascular training we will look at the body from the heart, muscles, and lungs. Let's take a look at how exercise affect's the body.

When we exercise, our muscles use ATP (adenosine triphosphate) for energy. ATP is the only form of energy the muscles can use. Since this is true, if there was no ATP already synthesized and stored in the tissue cells, you could not perform immediate strenuous work, such as picking up a heavy object, or walking up a flight of stairs. The following events occur in the cell to produce ATP energy: First, there are about 4 seconds worth of ATP already stored in the cells. After this period of sustained muscle contractions ATP in the working muscle is exhausted and the cells resort to the use of Creatine Phosphate and ADP to create more ATP which can provide energy for about another 25-30 seconds. Therefore, the cell has a total combined storage of energy available to last up to about 30-35 seconds during sustained muscle contraction before the cell must resort to the conversion and use of stored muscle glycogen. When energy is needed for longer than 30-35 seconds, stored muscle glycogen is broken down to produce ATP. The end product of this process is then converted into Pyruvate which can also be used for ATP production in the presence of oxygen.

So what does that mean to our bodies? Well since the heart and lungs are somewhat slow in delivering oxygen during the onset of aerobic activity, the pyruvate is used for energy until the heart and lungs catch up and can keep up with the oxygen demand. The rate of breathing is extremely labored at the onset of aerobic exercise because the heart is not yet beating fast enough to provide an adequate volume of oxygenated blood to the working muscles, and the lungs are trying to compensate until the heart does catch up. Once the heart catches up and can provide sufficient oxygenated blood, the respiration decreases, when this happens its called getting your second wind. With that in mind, as your heart becomes stronger, more oxygen will be transferred through the blood system into the muscles. This will help prevent early fatigue. As your mind adapts to an increased workload, you will be able to ignore the discomforts that precede fatigue.

The Energy Delivery Systems

During the course of a wrestling match both the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems are called upon to supply the energy demand. When an athlete trains by running 2 miles a day they are training their aerobic energy system (also referred to as VO2 Max). This system is considered to be the basis for all athletic conditioning. For wrestlers a good solid aerobic training program during the off-season will prepare them for the more intense demands of the season. Its good to remember that recovery from anaerobic exercise occurs through the aerobic system, so that throughout a match, at those times when the intensity may be decreased, the aerobic system will provide the energy to renew the aerobic system. In part 2 of our series on cardiovascular training we will focus on what exercises provide the best results for wrestlers and how to prepare your training for the upcoming season. <bio>Mike is the owner of Grapplers Gym and http://www.grapplersgym.com.
Welcome welcome welcome...oh and welcome to another exciting addition of The TNA Main Event Mafia. So I'm no Matt Striker...but I can only hope that the next WWE draft he ends up on raw :D This week I plan to complain to you about the newly formed 'Main Event Mafia', the Montreal Screw Job. And interviews..and why they are a lost art. Let's get started!

This week on Total Nonstop Annoyance Vince Russo in his amazing and slightly awkward knowledge decided that "Hey the new world order killed WCW..lets bring that state of mind to TNA." Cue the Main Event Mafia. The Main Event Mafia is made up of superstars who are always part of the main event(or so they believe). "The Icon" Sting, "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash aka weak knees McGee, Kurt Angle, and BoOoOoKaaa T (whose finally stuck with one accent). Other members pending the next couple of Impact could include "Instant Classic" Christan Cage and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner. The team to me is at the breaking point already. I think they can be great, not anything like New World Order, but more of a Four Horsemen (Of course there could be more then 4 members).

According to unconfirmed reports, the faction was made solely to give pushes to TNA originals, mainly Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. Personally I find the whole idea very dumb and very useless. Just the name 'Main Event Mafia' sounds like a weak attempt a play off of the new world order. Sting and Kevin were both apart of the massive explosion of failure that that faction was. What I see is this branching off even more till it becomes more of a problem then it needs to be.

Now when you look at the way they are bringing the young gun's the 'TNA Originals' I think this is looking a lot like the millionaires club and the young blood. The Millionaires club and the young blood during WCW was where guys who had made a name for themselves, Ric Flair, Sting, Hulk Hogan, were moved to a group were they were made to be portrayed as overpaid crybabies that were forced to forget all the history they had brought into wrestling and job to the younger guys. I think that even if the name is 'The Main Event Mafia' it could turn out the same. I wouldn't mind seeing Nash job, since I personally hate him, but Sting deserves something better then this. You didn't see WWE stick flair in a deadbeat faction before he retired. Sting isn't getting the amount of respect Ric got in his final time in WWE and that's going to be the down fall of this own
faction.

My main problem is the addition of the 'Legends' title that TNA introduced on Booker. Russo...alright ya got me what's the point of it? Oh? No answer? Just like I thought. DROP IT!. Worthless can't begin to describe this title. Pointless could be a word to describe it. TNA shouldn't be focusing on bringing more titles in a roster that hasn't proved that they deserve anything like that. TNA needs to focus on building superstars. What, in thirty years, will people remember from TNA. You can look as far back as you can in WWE, and names like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan among others will be installed into WWE for life. TNA has to produce some sort of legend (and no the 'Hardcore' legend Mick Foley DOES NOT COUNT, nor does Jeff Jarrett) TNA's lifespan clock is ticking, and the company known as total nonstop action's lifespan is almost up.

Well now lets move to my next topic, one of the more controversial topics back in the time of the attitude era, The Montreal Screw job. The story goes a little something like this, Brett hart was going to WCW. Vince knew it, Shawn knew it, Brett knew it everyone did. The problem with his departure was the fact he was the current WWF champion. Brett wasn't drawling money, and since he was moving down south to Georgia to be apart of WCW, he needed to drop the title as soon as possible. Vince called for him to lose it at the 1997 Survivor Series...which was held in Montreal, Brett's hometown. Now back in the days of the NWA, and the AWA you would see guys that would refuse to lose in their hometowns. Yes, this is understandable since you're a "star" there, but sacrificing your reputation for the betterment of the company is what made Ric Flair a superstar. Brett refused to lose in his hometown.

His idea was, "Hey..I'll win tonight then come to Raw the next night and give the title back and be on my way." Yeah..not real bad when you think about it, but the way Bret was getting recruited by Ted Turner Vince's thoughts were more of "if I don't get this belt from him Sunday, he could take the biggest belt in WWF with him to WCW and my company be down the tube"

See, Vince's character on screen isn't as evil behind the scenes. Another problem with this whole ordeal was the fact that, though I hate this part of any contract, Bret was given "Creative control of his character." Hulk Hogan if you are wondering also had this in his contract. Well on came Sunday, and Brett still hadn't agreed to drop the title. The match was, to one fall, Shawn Michaels against Bret Hart. Shawn was escorted by Chyna, Triple H and Vince who was there to "Watch."

Vince and Bret before going out finally had came to an agreement that allowed Brett to retain, but Vince had other plans. As the match progressed, it got to a highpoint where the finish was going to need to be put in place, just not the finish Brett was thinking of. Shawn went and successfully placed Brett in Brett's finish hold, The sharpshooter. As Bret squirmed in pain, Vince quickly jumped from the metal folding chair that he had been sitting in and demanded the bell be rang. Shawn quickly dropped out of the ring as items began being thrown at the ring. Shawn was declared the winner, even their was no tap out by Bret. Vince would later go on to say that "I didn't screw Bret Hart..Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart."

This is where my opinion comes in. I agree with Vince 110% on this incident. If your leaving a company you should have enough respect to drop the title (if you hold on) to who they ask you to. You then in return leave without an uproar, you go to the new company with a good reputation behind you and have no hell left in your last promotion. Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart. All you needed to do Bret was drop the title and move to WCW. Now you get the chance to be as bitter as can be for as long as you see fit. YOU cause this Bret, Shawn nor Vince had anything to do with it.

My last bit of babble is something I hold near and dear to my heart. Interviews/Promos have become a lost art in Professional Wrestling. You no longer see the interviews that could top any match on any card. The interviews that do tell a story. Here is my list of the top interviews of my time.

List of Top Interviews

1. Ric Flair
2. Sting
3. Shawn Michaels
4. The Undertaker
5. Eddie Guerrero
6. CM Punk
7. Chris Jericho
8. Triple H
9. Randy Orton
10. Hulk Hogan

Yes, I know some of those are more or less superstars from this time period. The amount of excellent interviews from back in the day of different promotions and territory is something the wrestling world needs again. Other notable mentions I left off the list would be :Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Interviews are made to tell stories. Ric Flair told stories with his interviews. After you listened to him you knew who he was what was in his heart. Sting left a tingle down your spine after he gave a heart filled scream fest at you. You can still go on youtube and look up his last interview for Nitro. The match was him against Ric Flair and I still!!! still!!! get a tingle down my spine when he begins that segment "Surprise surprise" could never fit the lasting impression Sting left on wrestling. Well I think that's all I could bore you with this week. I am very proud to see that America has made history. Monday night on raw Mike Adamle ACTUALLY got cheered. Given that it was after he announced his 'resignation' but hey a pop is a pop.

Until next time Monkey's :)<bio>http://TheWrestlingGame.com/Wrestling http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wrestling/articles/the_everlasting_ramble_main_event_mafia_and_interviews.asp</bio>

"Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation" - because they said, "He has an unclean spirit." (Mark 3:28-30)

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come." (Matthew 12:31-32)

To those Christians who think they may be guilty of having committed the unpardonable sin - study the above two Scripture verses very carefully. Unless you have directly called the Holy Spirit Satan himself or a demonic spirit like the Scribes and Pharisees did back in Jesus' day - then you are nowhere close to having had committed this unpardonable sin.

The only other possible scenario would be if you have decided to completely forsake and abandon God all together by choosing to believe that He no longer exists, or deciding that you want to change sides and follow and worship after the devil direct. Even then, you will still have some time with the Lord to see the errors of your ways and the bad choices you have made.

God will not give up on you and He will continue to chase after you - even if you have fallen into a Satan worshiping group. Many people who have fallen into these types of dark groups have been rescued and pulled out of them by the Lord after a certain length of time. But again, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will not chase after and strive with you forever. Realize that there are limits and boundaries to God's patience, grace and mercy.

Unless you are treading or entering into these types of extreme dangerous grounds with the Lord - then you are nowhere close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Losing some of your faith, getting mad at God, holding grudges against Him, pulling back on Him, and arguing and wrestling with Him are not direct acts of blasphemy against His Holy Spirit.

God is obviously not going to be happy with this kind of child-like immature behavior, but you are not going to lose your salvation over it, and you are not going to be deemed guilty of blaspheming His Holy Spirit by throwing some of these kinds of immature temper tantrums.

The Bible says that our flesh and spirits will war against each other and for some, their flesh will at times get the upper hand on them. But don't misconstrue this type of roller coaster ride in your walk with the Lord with either blaspheming God the Father or the Holy Spirit. This is why Jesus had to come and die for all of us - because of our sins, because of our sin nature, and because of all of our character flaws and imperfections.

Just realize who you really are in Christ and learn to grow and mature in your walk with Him and try to keep your temper tantrums and pity parties to a bare minimum. This life is way too short to be wallowing in wrestling matches with the Lord, holding grudges against Him, and questioning some of the decisions He may have made with your life.

Realize that God the Father always knows best, trust that He has made the right decisions in the way that He has been handling your life, and press on into the calls and divine assignments that He has set up for you to walk in with what little time you still have left down here.

You only get one chance in the eternal scheme of things to accomplish God's perfect will for your life down here on this earth. Don't blow it or lose it because you have been wrestling with God over all of these years over issues that you will end up finding out later on were a complete waste of time to be arguing with Him in the first place.

Remember, God is perfect - you are not! God always knows best - you do not! God can see into you future - you cannot! Trust God - because you can't trust yourself or the world in general to achieve your full potential in Him in this lifetime! <bio>Article written by Michael Bradley, you can get the complete article on the fruit of the Spirit at http://www.bible-knowledge.com - and get 20% off retail on all Christian books at his online bookstore at http://www.bibleknowledgebookstore.com </bio>

You're probably wondering, "Who carries keycases nowadays?" Well, a lot of people do. You just don't see them because they aren't exactly toting them around for everyone to see. Keycases allow people to carry their keys in their pocket like they're carrying their wallet. It remains flat in their pocket or their purse, so no one knows that they have it. Does this mean that using promotional keycases as a marketing tool isn't going to work because people don't really ever see them in a person's possession? No, it doesn't.

For those who do not carry around keycases, promotional keycases can be a very good gift from your company. This is because people lose their keys all of the time. They lay them down in some strange place within their home and then they're late for work or for an appointment the next day because they have had to literally tear their house apart in order to find their keys. That can be such a frustrating feeling, so any way in which they can keep track of their keys is a way that they are going to be very appreciative about. Yes, they can get a key holder to hang next to their door, but that's the problem. They would have to hang the key holder next door and there is just too much work involved in that. Who's to say that the keys would even make it anyway?

The smart thing to do

Promotional keycases are smart because they do make it a bit harder to lose keys. Having such a functional and practical promotional item can also deter laying keys just anywhere. Promotional keycases are also great at keeping the keys separated. This makes finding the right key easier than wrestling around with a massive keychain. What's worse is when you end up wrestling around with a massive keychain in the dark. With promotional keycases, the individual knows exactly where the key is because they can touch each and every one of the keys or they might know exactly which one opens the door just by counting it. They'll be appreciative that you thought of such a neat promotional idea.

When customers receive free things from a business they don't expect to receive something such as promotional keycases. They expect smaller things such as pens and pencils. Sometimes the biggest thing they expect is a mug or a t-shirt. They don't expect to receive something that is quite that functional.

Effective promotion

So now you can see how promotional keycases can be great for promotion. You can print your business logo and contact information on the front of the keycases and your customers then have this constant reminder of your existence. They won't be able to forget about you because you'll more or less be present right in front of them every single time they reach for their keys. That is better than putting an ad in the local newspaper in hopes that your customers will see you so that they don't forget about you.<bio>Matt Franks is director of Fluid Branding, the UK's largest supplier of promotional keycases and other Promotional Products at www.fluidbranding.com.
Good day and welcome to "Balistik Blabber", my little corner of wrestling opinions, suggestions and wishes. Today I'll be talking about something serious... it's about the anti-wrestling movement... specifically, a book that recently came out with a very, VERY long title... behold:

"Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit and the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry"

This book contains a gold mine of scandals within the wrestling business, including the following which I found and edited from "The Score Boards Sports Forum" due to some very grisly detail. The complete and unedited list of items can be found in this link:

WARNING! This list contains very crude content! Read at your own risk! Parental guidance is strongly urged.

1. What life really was like at the New Japan dojo during the company's peak, including countless stories of outrageous hazing, violence, psychological and sexual torture.

2. The behind-the-scenes story on Kensuke Sasaki beating New Japan trainee Hiromitsu Gompei to death.

3. The most coherent and well-sourced profile of Antonio Inoki (a Japanese wrestler who Hulk Hogan once KO'd in the ring with the "Axe Bomber" stiff lariat) being a somewhat crazy and gullible person, being fooled to believe in the existence of treasure so much he almost hired a search crew for it.

4. An account of Riki Choshu and Masa Saito being completely rude and brutal including a situation where Masa Saito beat the stuffings out of Vader for trash talking with him... this led to Saito to knock Vader out for real in the middle of the ring and having the referee count Vader out...

5. Stories about Benoit being very violent towards new trainees and Jushin Liger randomly punching rookies in the face for the heck of it.

6. A previously unpublished story about how Bischoff started Nitro to avenge himself on a rib played against him by an unnamed, anonymous devilish promoter.

5. The bar-none most uncensored look at modern-day Vince McMahon, his outlandish behavior, and his bizarre relationship with Stephanie.

6. The first behind-the-scenes, uncensored, completely honest look at what it's like on the WWE Creative Team, including interviews from a half dozen former writers on the record including Heyman.

7. That longtime WWE Head Writer Dave Lagana fired in early 2008 for repeatedly extorting sexual favors out of the wrestlers, male and female alike, with the alleged knowledge of WWE management -- a scandal that has been successfully kept from the press until now.

8. That Vince McMahon recently fired a heavily injured wrestler for seeking medical help -- calling him a "*****" who wasn't worthy of being a WWE wrestler and creating a neurotic fear of rehabilitating injuries within the WWE roster.

9. Some great McMahon family stories, including the account of writer Dan Madigan driving in the McMahon limo... apparently, he watched Vince very gently cradle and snuggle Stephanie to sleep in his arms, then fall asleep himself snoring... it's not over 'coz he suddenly catches HHH looking at them drool unto each other and snore into each other's faces with a mixture of utter repulsion and spectacular triumph.

10. That multiple sources claim Dean Malenko was allegedly Eddie's drug hookup?

1. An entire chapter delving into the life of Kevin Sullivan (Benoit's WCW "rival"), including his many secrets... how he used Nancy to get booking power... eyewitness stories of his drug abuse debauchery... how he beat Nancy, and how he convinced Nancy to pretend to cheat on him for the show... and then beat her until she finally decided to actually cheat on him for real.

2. Publisher PR. "Despite regularly passing "comprehensive" World Wrestling Entertainment drug tests, Chris Benoit's psychological meltdown was partially caused by an enormous drug habit that he maintained for the majority of his WWE tenure. On a daily basis, Benoit haphazardly mixed huge dosages of amphetamines, steroids, painkillers, psychiatric drugs, and alcohol -- with catastrophic effect on his psyche."

3. PR: "Chris Benoit had displayed dangerously violent and sadistic behavior as early as 1987, and over the next twenty years he was involved in countless incidents of cruelty and extreme hazing of younger wrestlers."

4. Sullivan booking era, "In 2000, Chris Benoit threatened his bosses in Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling with the promise that he would mutilate himself on live television if he was forced to go through a storyline he didn't like."

5. The gritty details about Benoit being a drug addicted lunatic...

6. Probably the only honest psychological profile of Benoit published, speaking in detail just how much of a selfish, misguided, utterly cruel and ridiculous man he always was and how his choice of lifestyle indicted him from the beginning.

Like a lot of things, we will never be sure if these allegations are true. It clearly says that interviews were conducted including "FORMER" employees of the biggest wrestling companies then and now... doesn't that mean "DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEES"... the kind of people who would do anything to get back at their former bosses for kicking them out? How reliable is that kind of data? Nowadays, people blog about something and people may very well accept it as fact without even checking... like Wikipedia.

What is it with these guys who continually try to make wrestling look so bad? I know they may be doing this for the sake of children who don't know the difference between real and fiction but this is getting ridiculous! I mean this guy actually made a book to reveal these things about these people whom he has nothing to do with and to a guy whose reputation has already been tarnished enough! The author of the book is a TRUE CRIME writer... why would he touch on a topic that has little to almost no connection to his field of work? No, don't tell me about the time Sabu and RVD got caught with drugs... or when Hulk Hogan's son getting into that car accident... or the time Ric Flair got arrested for getting into a car accident... or when Psicosis punched and stole his friend's car... or even about the infamous Brody murder... these were rare and unfortunate occurrences. There are still over 10,000 other amateur and professional wrestlers who are alive, healthy and living a clean life. I smell something fishy and it most certainly isn't my dinner (I'm having pork chops!)!

It is my opinion that the writer did this solely for the money. I mean, come on! There are tons of other worse things to write a book about...graft, corruption, the so-called war on terror... why couldn't he just write about those instead? Why did he went out of his way to find people and ask them about the wrestling industry? To put what I'm trying to say bluntly: IT WAS NONE OF HIS BUSINESS! Oh wait, I hear some defenses...

"He's only concerned about the welfare of other wrestlers struggling in the business"

I only see a guy trying to get money off a tragedy.

"But he's a legal consultant that manages Hurricane Katrina rehabilitation"

So he helps people... There! You see? Why doesn't he write something about the government instead since a lot of analysts say it was the government that screwed that one up!

"You're just a whacked up wrestling fanboy! Shut the hell up!"

Why, yes I am! But you don't see me stepping on other people after they've been humiliated do you?

Listen, I don't want to drag you further into my rant. I won't tell you to side with me but one things certain: the publication of this book may raise more awareness for the welfare of all the people involved in the wrestling industry but underneath all that good, all it has done is to make wrestling look bad and has undoubtedly brought more shame to what's left of the reputation of the man named Christopher Michael Benoit... You can call me a Benoit fanboy all you want but I still hope that one day the investigators will admit they got it wrong... or maybe somebody told them to fake the evidence... that maybe he didn't do that to his family...

Why did Mr. Matthew Randazzo V (there, that's his name... if you agree with me and want to contact him in some manner, there's his name) have to do that to make his point? Why couldn't he just lay off guy even if he really was a jerk to others? Benoit has lost everything... he hit the bottom of the pit... this book throws garbage into that pit... it is uncalled for and just plain unnecessary.<bio>Wrestling News http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wrestling http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wrestling/articles/balistik_blabber.asp</bio>

I'm often asked the question "Which is better, Karate or Taekwondo?"; "Which is stronger, Judo or Kung Fu?"; or more direct questions such as "Could you beat a Mixed Martial artist in a fight?"

Thanks to the current popularity of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) we are seeing a showcase of different styles being pitted against one another. However my answer to all of these questions has to do with the many different paths that are available in the martial arts, and the one common destination.

Before I elaborate on what that actually means let me first give you a situation. You are standing outside your local shopping mall and you want to get home. How many ways could you do it? Well you would normally drive, either in your car or someone else's but you could also take the bus, ride a bike, walk or even hitchhike. Which way is best?

Of course most of you will tell me to drive. It's quicker, you don't have to pay for a bus, you have control of your trip and you don't have to use much energy. But are any of the other methods any less valid? You still reach your objective, and that is to get home. Granted it takes longer but maybe you learn something along the way that could be valuable for the rest of your life; or maybe you just have a miserable journey and wish you had driven!

Different martial arts are very similar to that. Some of them are like riding your bike. You get some exercise without straining yourself too much, but it takes a little bit longer than you wanted to get to your destination, others are like walking the whole way - it takes hours to get there but you see all kinds of sights on the way and learn a lot. However, you have to decide whether the time it took was worth the effort. Then finally you have the quick option to get in your car and drive in order to get there quickly. Some martial arts offer you this too but you have to ask yourself if you were even looking at and enjoying the sights along the way, much less learning something.

So which is better, Karate or Taekwondo? Which is stronger, Judo or Kung Fu? I have an answer and here it is!

No one martial art is better than another, yet at the same time all martial arts have something that is better than the others, and ultimately the choice one makes as to which martial art to study comes down to personal preference.

Let me give you some concrete examples of what I mean by this answer. Firstly consider a 250-pound muscular, well proportioned man being pitted against a 150-pound toned guy of equal technical ability in a wrestling match. There is no doubt in my mind that the bigger guy will win 9 times out of 10 because of his sheer size and strength. There is a lot of skill involved in wrestling and that is why I said they have the same technical ability. But wrestling generally favors the bigger fighter.

So let's put these same fighters in a Karate tournament where the goal is not to pin your opponent into submission but to score points through quick, powerful and focused techniques. The small guy now doesn't have to worry about being smothered, he just has to worry about whether he is fast enough to get in and out of the big man's guard and score the point. The chances for each fighter winning are a little more even in this match.

Now let's make the small guy a ju-jitsu expert who understands wrist locks, arm locks and pressure points and let's make the big guy a lumbering yet strong oaf. I would almost guarantee that the ju-jitsu guy would win this fight in spite of the seeming size disadvantage.

I hope that you've understood what I'm trying to say in this brief article. The point I'm making is that the question of whether one art is better than another does not depend on the art itself, but rather on the person who is studying that art. If the art is suited to the practitioner, then the martial artist will ultimately become very skillful and very accomplished. On the other hand, if the martial artist can't kick, yet chooses Taekwondo as his style he will have a very hard time!

So which martial art is the best?
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity and ratings over the past couple of years. Love it or hate it, it looks like the UFC is here to stay. Consequently many men in the 18 =96 34 demographic are becoming more interested in the martial arts.

After watching great strikers such as Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva and Houston Alexander and watching the incredible grappling and wrestling skills of Randy Couture, Matt Hughes and BJ Penn, many martial artists are asking themselves the question "Will my martial art get me to the UFC?"

The answer to this question is very simple.

No, your martial art will not get you to the UFC! Make that a maybe, instead of a definite no.

OK, I can already tell that some of you may be shocked at that one line put down of you, your chosen martial art and your UFC aspirations. After all I don't know anything about you but let me expand on my answer so you know where I'm coming from.

First of all, it is important to understand that no one style has all of the elements of a complete fighting system for success in the Octagon, but many styles have a lot of them. The UFC, Pride, WEC and Elite XC are all labeled under the category "Mixed Martial Arts." This should tell you a lot in relation to the question of whether your martial art will get you to the UFC. Mixed martial arts is exactly what it says it is =96 a mix of several different martial arts pulled together to create the full skill set of techniques needed for survival in the ring, cage or octagon (or the street for that matter!)

To be a successful UFC fighter you need to have a great stand-up game and a great ground game. In addition to this you need to learn take-downs and take-down defenses. This doesn't even include the physical conditioning or the mental aspect of preparing for a fight. So here are some suggestions as to which styles you should study to give yourself the best chance of becoming a good fighter.

=B7 Striking Skills: Boxing, Muay Thai, Shotokan, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Savate =B7 Take-Downs: Judo, Hapkido, Sanda (San Shou), Sambo =B7 Grappling and Submissions: Wrestling, Brazilian Ju-jitsu, Japanese Ju-jitsu, Aikido

There are many other martial arts not on this list that are also worthy of in-depth study; and some of them on the list include all of the above skills to a greater or lesser degree.

So will your martial art get you to the UFC? Not by itself, but if you combine the strength of your chosen art with the missing elements that you need from some of the other styles above, then you will be well on your way.

For more in-depth information on many of the most commonly practiced martial arts, get my FREE "Beginners Guide to Karate".
The whistle has blown marking the end of the first period of your match. Your heart is racing and you can hardly breathe. You have been running 2 miles everyday just like your coach and dad told you to. So why are you tired after only 2 minutes? Running long distance conditioning works the body's aerobic energy system to use energy over a long period of time, where with wrestling we are required to sustain high levels of energy very quickly and recover in a short period of time.

As much as a wrestler needs to have heart on the mat to win, they also need to condition the heart long before the match begins. A strong, well-conditioned cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels) will enable the body to receive more oxygen and a higher volume of blood with every pump of the heart. It will also allow the wrestler to sustain a high level of exertion for a long time. Obviously, such cardiovascular conditioning will enhance both the youngster's health and their wrestling performance. In part 1 of our series on cardiovascular training we learned how the body is affected during exercise. We learned how our body uses ATP for energy and how aerobic training helps us to recover from anaerobic bouts of exercise. When we talk about training we are not trying to take any thing away from what coaches are doing during practice only explaining how training affects the body.

In part 2 of our series on cardiovascular training we have made a change to our program so we can take a deeper look at cardiovascular training by going inside the different types of endurance that we as wrestlers use.

What is the objective of endurance training for wrestlers?

In a sport that many spectators characterize as sudden, explosive attacks and counterattacks that are executed on a repeated basis for duration up to 6 minutes or until an opponent has been pinned, the need for endurance training is simple, to develop the energy production system(s) to meet the demands of a wrestling match. It has been documented that the average wrestling match has an explosive attack executed approximately every 6-10 seconds. For top level athletes endurance training is just as important as training for technique. When it comes to a wrestling match, weekend tournament wrestlers who lack good muscular endurance and aerobic/anaerobic conditioning will start to tire as they wrestle in the later rounds.

What types of endurance are there?

Endurance is the ability of your body to maintain a high quality of work in the face of fatigue. There are 4 major types of endurance, aerobic endurance, anaerobic endurance, speed endurance, and strength and power endurance. All 4 require a good sound aerobic conditioning level to maintain them.

Aerobic Endurance

Aerobic means andquot; With Oxygen.andquot; During aerobic exercise the body is working at a level that the demands for oxygen and fuel can be met by the body's intake. Physiological adaptations to aerobic exercise involve some of the following:

Respiratory System:

Enhanced Oxygen exchange in the lungs Improved blood flow throughout the lungs Decreased submaximal respiratory rate Decreased submaximal pulmonary ventilation Cardiovascular System:

Increased cardiac output

Increased blood volume, red blood cell number, and hemoglobin concentration Decreased resting heart rate.

The basis for almost any sports conditioning program is good aerobic capacity. As we mentioned before a good solid post-season and off-season aerobic conditioning program will be the foundation for the upcoming season. So what does all this mean to a wrestler? Having a good solid aerobic conditioning level will ensure that your heart beats slower but stronger, moves greater volumes of oxygenated blood (which is important for your muscles), and you breath slower.

Anaerobic Endurance

Anaerobic means andquot;Without Oxygen.andquot; During anaerobic exercise at maximum effort, the body is working so hard that the demands for oxygen and fuel exceed the rate of supply and the muscles rely on stored reserves of fuel. Few sports display the anaerobic stress that wrestling does. The majority of the bodys musculature is subject to prolonged, short bursts of high intensity efforts during the course of a match.

To ensure that wrestlers have the anaerobic capacity to compete, let's look at what anaerobic endurance is and how it affects the body. Anaerobic endurance (capacity) refers to the maximal amount of energy that can be produced during the first 15-90 seconds of all out effort. The major limitation on anaerobic capacity is the build up of lactic acid in the working muscles, a by-product of metabolism when the demand for oxygen in the working muscles is not met. Lactic acid causes the muscles to fatigue by disrupting biochemical reactions that produce energy for muscle contraction (The feeling you get in your forearms and lower back during and after a match). The effect of training for anaerobic endurance is to increase the muscles tolerance to lactic acid so that there is a corresponding resistance to fatigue.

Speed Endurance

Speed-endurance training improves your ability to tolerate increased amounts of lactic acid in your system and lessens your feelings of fatigue as you wrestle at high intensity. High speed drilling is a good way to develop speed endurance and when incorporated with chain matches or grind matches, will also help develop high levels of anaerobic conditioning. Running, swimming, bicycle riding at high speeds or for a given distance or time will also help increase your tolerance for lactic acid buildup.

Strength Endurance/Power Endurance

Strength endurance is the specific form of strength displayed in activities which require a relatively long duration of muscle tension with minimal decrease in efficiency. There are two types of strength endurance, dynamic strength-endurance, and static strength-endurance.

Dynamic strength-endurance is best known for movement during swimming, running, or rowing, where there is a repetitive motion executed in short rest intervals.

Static strength-endurance is associated with activities where it is necessary to exert isometric tension of varying magnitude and duration.

An example of when strength endurance for wrestling matters most is late in the 3rd period. You shoot a single leg takedown and your opponent sprawls down hard on your back. Pulling the leg into your body and being able to stand up with it to finish your move when your tired requires endurance. You will see many wrestlers slowly start to flatten out and not have enough static strength-endurance to hold the leg and keep their body upright.

Power endurance is another specific form of strength training that involves the recruitment of fast twitch fibers over a prolonged period of time. As mentioned above, anaerobic conditioning improves resistance to fatigue in a time frame of 15-90 seconds of all out effort; in the same way power endurance training can shorten the recovery time needed to produce explosive movements over a prolonged period.

An example of power endurance in wrestling is the ability to take that last second shot with extreme explosiveness to win the match and avoid going into overtime even though you are dog tired. Another example, outside of wrestling and inside the weight room, is when a person is doing box jumps. If you have an athlete perform 40 continuous box jumps, by about 10 or so (depending on the height of the box) that athlete will start to slow down (the extreme opposite of what we are trying to accomplish with box jumps) and probably have cut his shin on the edge of the box because of the inability to produce power past a certain point. Instead of doing 40 continuous jumps we would rather prescribe 10 sets of 4 or 8 sets of 5 jumps, hardly ever needing to go over reps of 5 unless utilizing a kettlebell, with rest in-between. You could say it's kind of like interval training but with explosive and/or ballistic movements (kettlebell swings, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, etc.) In conclusion, cardiovascular training for wrestlers is more that just running 2 miles or riding your bike around the block. As you are starting to see, wrestling is about anaerobic conditioning. Aerobic conditioning plays a major role in providing a good solid foundation for cardiovascular training but its the anaerobic weight training and conditioning that will carry you to the top of the podium.

In part 3 of our series we will take what we have learned about the body and endurance and use it for designing your own wrestling workouts to help you become the best conditioned wrestler on the mat. <bio>Mike is the owner of Grapplers Gym and http://www.grapplersgym.com.
When I first started studying the history of music, I did not know what I was getting into. I had a notion that music history was somewhat of a trivial pursuit...

Honestly, I only followed my history of classical music course because I needed the credits. I am sure some of you out there can relate to that. I did not know how fully interesting music history could be. You see, in our culture many of us do not really study to comprehend music. For much of the world, music is a language, but for us it is a thing that we consumed passively.

When I started to study about the history of Western music, however, it changed all that for me. I have had some experience using musical instruments, but I have never mastered one enough to really comprehend what music is all about. This class showed me.

When a lot of us think about the history of music, it means the history of rock music. We presume that the history is plain because the music is plain. In fact, neither is the case. The history of music, whether you're talking about classical music, rock music, jazz music, or any other kind, is always complex. New chord structures are set up carrying with them new forms of understanding humanity. New rhythmic patterns are established, carrying with them new methods of understanding history. And music shows all of it.

History of music nowadays is even more interesting. Even when the class was ended, I could not stop learning about the history of music. It had stimulated my appetite, and I wanted more. I acquired all the music history volumes that I could discover. I even started to examine forms of music that had not interested me before in the hopes of improving my musical knowledge further. When I was in school studying toward a very different subject - a degree in engineering - I had thought about giving it up and going back to obtain a degree in musicology. That is how much I am fascinated by the subject.

If you have never taken a course in the history of music, you don't know what you are missing out on. You do not miss what you don't know about in a way but then again... Believe me the CDs will never sound the same to you again. Actually not only the Cds but any type of media you are or will be using to play your favorite music. The whole thing will seem much more rich, much more luminous, and much more important. A new song can reflect a new way of being, and a new way of imagining existence in the world. This is what learning about the history of music means to many of us. Just try it and you will see.

Listening to music now has a whole new meaning. You can imagine all the different types of musical patterns there are in the world. It make your musical mind really expand. <bio>Paul Zirka Is A Well Known Internet Author And Enjoy Sharing His Knowledge With You The Reader.
The Parents Television Council (PTC) has been a watchdog of family values on television since it was founded in 1995 by longtime political activist L. Brent Bozell III. It is a US-based nonprofit organization which aims to "restore television to its roots as an independent and socially responsible entertainment medium". The group's stance if officially nonpartisan in nature, but it is known for taking a conservative stand on sensitive matters. It has embarked on a number of highly-visible undertakings, including cable choice for family-friendly networks, exposing advertisers that advertise on objectionable programming and calling attention to the disrespect of religion on television.

The PTC is mainly involved in the evaluation and rating of TV programs as well as in educating media as to what constitutes acceptable and unacceptable television fare as well as in organizing national advocacy efforts, when necessary.

Since its inception and because of the significant role it portrays on television, the PTC has been involved in a number of controversies through the years, including the following:

In November 2000, the World Wrestling Federation (now the World Wrestling Entertainment) sued PTC for false claims, libel, slander, and other charges relating to a campaign which was used to raise funds for the Media Research Center, PTC's mother company, and the PTC. The lawsuit was settled out-of-court for $3.5 million in July of 2002. The WWE also parodied the PTC on their show.

In 2004, PTC became firmly entrenched in the public eye for its activist role regarding complaints to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about the Janet Jackson Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy. During this show, one of Jackson's breasts, covered only by a nipple-shield, was momentarily displayed on network television. FCC chairman Michael Powell later revealed that the number of indecency complaints to the FCC had risen from 350 in the years 2000 and 2001, to 14,000 in 2002 and 240,000 in 2003. He said further that 20% of complaints lodged with the FCC in 2003 were filed by or through the PTC. Not counting Janet Jackson-related complaints, 99.8% pf all complaints were made by or through PTC. One backlash from the prominence of these revelations is a growing concern in some sectors that a single-issue activist group is exerting undue influence on the process of media regulation in the US.

In 2005, PTC and other media watchdog groups criticized the Carl's Jr. commercial showing reality TV star Paris Hilton in a provocative swimsuit soaping up a Bentley automobile and crawling all over it before taking a big bite out of the burger. <bio>Kadence Buchanan writes articles for http://foracloserfamily.com/ - In addition, Kadence also writes articles for http://ecookingcentral.com/ and http://iwomensinterests.com/ </bio>

If you're like me, a teenager or young adult, just getting started in the big wide world, getting credit can be tough. Most creditors want to see a solid credit history before they give you a loan. They seem to be as clueless as I am as to how to get a credit history. After all, how do you get a credit history when you have to have one to get credit? Duh!

As frustrating as it can be for a young person, there are a few ways to get some credit history, to at least give you a little something to show the bank.

Co-signer The easiest way to get started with credit is to get a parent, grandparent, etc. to co-sign a loan for you, usually a car loan. However, for some of us, that is not an option for one reason or another. Another option you can consider is a co-signed credit card. Just be sure that you pay your bills on time, or you'll just get yourself a bad credit history and be in worse shape than when you started!

Secured Credit Card You can also get a secured credit card. You would make a deposit of perhaps $500 to the issuing bank. They would then issue you a credit card with a $500 limit. That protects them, and will give you a credit history. A word of warning -- the leading bank that issues secured credit cards has a very bad record with the Better Business Bureau, so check out the bank first!

Secured Loan You can also get a small secured loan. You deposit $1,000 with the bank as collateral, and they loan you $1,000. This is really pointless, except it does give you a credit history.

Lastly, once you get some credit history, keep in mind that you may be able to get a fuel card or department store card before you can get a credit card. Check and see if the fuel / dept store card will report to the credit agencies and help improve your credit history.

One final tip -- if you're buying a car and need a car loan, a good salesman will help you get a loan. That's actually how I got mine -- along with a large down payment and a co-signature. <bio>For more great resources on credit and financing, visit the Money Forum: http://www.gotalkmoney.com </bio>
