When you're about to embark on a journey to the Philippines, the two most important questions to ask is "when" and "where". If you're traveling to the Philippines, do be aware that the experiences you're about to encounter is unlike anything you'd encounter anywhere else in the world. Each and every country has its own unique experience to offer you and when you travel to the Philippines, you should expect the same.

When Is It Best To Travel To The Philippines?

Are you allergic to rain? If so, it would do you good to avoid traveling to this part of Southeast Asia during the months of June till November as that's when the occasional typhoon or two makes time to visit the Philippines. Traveling during the rainy season of the Philippines can be quite a hassle, especially if you don't have a car. But if you do, you could expect smaller crowds to contend with as most people tend to stay indoors.

If you're unable to take the heat and still be merry, then you should not travel to the Philippines during the months of March till May because that's officially the summer season of the country. Everyone heads for the nearest beach so if you don't want to feel crowded when you're sunbathing, set your travel date for another time of the year. The Easter season is always busy for everyone in the Philippines so expect a difficult time on reserving transportation when it's Holy Week.

If you're on the lookout for the world-famous fiestas that only the Philippines could offer, schedule your travel date for January, May or December. The flower season of Baguio -- described as the summer capital of the Philippines because of its perennially cool weather -- is something to look forward to. And then there's the Santacruzan during May and which each and every town parades its most beautiful residents in a walk around town.

Where In The Philippines Is It Best To Travel To?

There are so many types of places to visit in the Philippines that it's hard to enumerate each and every one of them. Beaches, however, are one of the most favorite travel spots of the country so if you want to enjoy your stay in a beautiful paradise of clear blue green water and cool white sand, you could check out Tali Beach, the world-famous Boracay or try surfing the secluded beaches of Surigao and La Union. <bio>John Grant has been living in the Philippines for 5 years and has travelled the country extensively. His online Philippines Travel Guide http://www.netguard.dk covers major destinations like Boracay http://www.netguard.dk/visayas/boracay/ Puerto Galera and Palawan. </bio>

When traveling to any other country, may it be the Philippines or Holland or Zimbabwe, you're sure to come across all kinds of hassles and obstacles that could give you a pressing headache and make you wish that you're back at home sweet home. But it's really not necessary to go all through that with the right amount of preparation and research. When traveling to another country, you should always expect the unexpected and make sure you have a contingency plan for each situation you might find yourself in. And in your trip to the Philippines, here are a few suggestions you could take to make your trip to the Philippines hassle free.

Philippine Travel Tip #1 -- Weather This, Weather That When you're in Dubai, you're sure to expect extreme heat during the day and extreme cold during the night. In the Philippines, however, there are no extremities in temperature to watch out for. If you're going to travel to the Philippines between the months of March till May, be sure to bring lots of light clothes because it's the hot and dry season. During the months of June till October, it's the rainy season that would greet you on your Philippine travel. Lastly, the months of November till February are possibly the best times of the year to travel in the Philippines because it's cool but dry. But to be more specific, if you want your trip to the Philippines unmarred by the occasional typhoon, set your travel date between the middle of December till mid-May.

Philippine Travel Tip #2 -- Everything's Within A Call Away? Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, is also dubbed as the texting capital of the world because everyone, and I do mean everyone, has got a cellphone -- or two! -- in their name. That's why if you're lost, you need not worry about looking for the nearest public phone because cellphones are able to work in almost all places in the Philippines. Quite a convenient thing for anyone traveling, isn't it?

Philippine Travel Tip #3 -- Party Time! One of the most unique and enjoyable experiences you could have when you travel to the Philippines is being part of the fiesta season. The whole town or city usually participates in a fiesta and each and every house is open to all, natives and foreigners alike. Filipino delicacies are prepared in each household and colorful banners are hung everywhere so that you'd know when there's a fiesta going on. You could also try participating in one of the native games that's usually played like climbing a tree slick with oil or being blindfolded and try hitting the "palayok" or pot filled with candies and coins for children. <bio>Dan Eggers live in Dumaguete City in the Philippines, his Dumaguete City Guide can be found at http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/ and his lively Dumaguete Forum at http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/ </bio>

The casino sector in the Philippines is one of the fastest-growing parts of the Filipino economy. Philippines casinos are popular with locals, but it is tourists who increasingly form the mainstay of most casinos' clientele. Traditionally, most casinos in the Philippines have been licensed through a state-run company called PAGCOR, but recent liberalization of the rules has allowed private firms to open up casino ventures of their own, encouraged by the growing popularity of gambling in the country.

The largest concentration of Philippines casinos can be found, unsurprisingly, in the capital of the Philippines, Manila. Manila casinos are the biggest and most popular in the country, attracting thousands of visitors every year, many of them travelers from abroad. The capital is very popular with tourists from neighboring East Asian countries, but also further afield, including the USA and Europe. Consequently, casinos are a natural magnet for visitors wanting to relax in what can sometimes be a very crowded and busy city, with a varied and thriving nightlife scene. Manila casinos are famous for their relaxed ambience, and socializing is viewed as being almost as important as gambling. The pace of the games is often quite slow, which acts as a welcome antidote to the frenzied pace of city life.

One of the most popular Philippines casinos was the PAGCOR-owned Subic Bay Legend, situated at Subic Bay north of Manila, on the site of a former US Naval base, but the casino was closed in May 2006. However, there is another casino in the Subic Bay development called the Diamond, with tentative plans to create further casinos in the area. Casino development is further encouraged by the positive business conditions in the Philippines, a cheaper place to do business than alternative countries such as Macao and Japan, and the more relaxed rules on casino ownership in areas like Subic Bay, which have andquot;Special Economic Zoneandquot; status to encourage investment.

In addition to these developments, there are several casinos further afield in the Philippines, including the islands of Cebu and Davao. The PanAsia Poker Tour has also hosted its first event in a Philippines casino, the Philippines Open, which is open to poker players from around the world and is held at the Airport Casino Filipino. Philippines casinos are a growing part of the Filipino tourist scene, and they provide an increasingly attractive alternative to casinos in other East Asian countries. <bio>This article is the property of http://www.philippines-casinos.com </bio>

For many centuries, Subic Bay was recognized as a deep safe harbour. Realizing Subic Bay's potentials, the Spaniards used the bay as a port to defend and maintain the Philippines as a part of their empire in the 17th century. In 1885, it was built into a naval base that utilized the safe harbors and natural resources.

After their victory over the Spaniards in 1898, a naval repair and supply base in Subic Bay was established by the Americans. It was only reachable by sea until 1932 when the zigzag roads were opened linking Subic Bay and Olongapo to the rest of the Philippines.

The Japanese bombed Subic Bay in 1941 and was held by them until the US took back the Philippines in 1945. The naval base was returned to the control of the United States. The two invasions by the Japanese and Americans produced a number of bombed or scuttled naval ships in Subic Bay. Scuba divers from around the world are now enjoying these wrecks in their underwater graveyards.

Control and maintenance of Subic naval base remained under the United States despite the Philippines gaining their independence. The United States was given 99 years free access of the facility via an agreement signed between the Philippines and US. With the outbreak of the Vietnam War, Subic Bay became a strategic site in the maintenance of a strong US presence in Asia.

In 1991, the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo covered Olongapo and Subic Bay with nearly half a metre of ash. After the Senate of the Philippines rejected the renewal of the US bases treaty in 1992, the Subic Bay Freeport was established after the last of the American naval ships completed its pullout of forces.

Since then, Subic Bay Freeport Zone has now become a well-known economic, commercial and tourist hub. It is booming with world class restaurants and duty-free shopping.

Subic Bay is situated in Zambales Province on the west coast of Luzon 120 kilometres north of Manila. Mountains with lush jungles bound its coastal area. Mountains with lush dense jungles, suitable for trekking, surround the coastal area. The bay cuts out into the South China Sea.

Subic Bay brags of interesting wreck dives. It is home to a impressive combination of wrecks. The six wreck sites have an average depth of 45 ft.

Subic Bay boasts of its rainforest and a white sand beach. Its world-class facilities, which include a marina, yacht club, hotels, shopping arcades and food shops, are supported by Philippine tourism. An international airport is another attraction.
Why travel to Cebu, Philippines of all places? What makes Cebu, Philippines special among all other places in the whole country -- or the world even? If your travel plans for this year includes Cebu, here are some reasons why we're certain that you won't regret your decision on choosing Cebu as your travel destination.

What Makes Cebu Popular Even if we weren't to talk about any of the famous tourist spots of Cebu, Philippines, there are still other things that make Cebu so very popular with the tourists. First, there's the food. If you love those ripe yellow mangoes, you absolutely must go to Guadulupe because their mangoes - served dried or not - can never fail to make taste buds water.

And then there's chicharon or pork rind; if you've never tasted chicharon yet, a good place to start would be at Cebu. Other food to explore in Cebu would be "puso", the hanging rice, dangit, a dried fish usually eaten for breakfast and budbud, another type of rice.

And then there are the souvenirs or other accessories that you may only purchase in Cebu, Philippine. If you come from a country experiencing all four seasons -- people back home would probably appreciate if you give them the beautifully hand woven blankets made from Argao. People with deep faith would no doubt appreciate as well gifts of the Medallions of the Christ Child. For fashion lovers, jewelry made from Mactan stone, corals or seashells are very much popular.

Lastly, there are the guitars. People with fine ears for music can't help but appreciate the quality of guitars manufactured in Cebu. If you also want to see with your very own eyes the manufacturing process of a guitar, from start to finish, LapuLapu City of Cebu is the place to travel to.

And now finally, we come to the places...

Magellan's Cross -- Since the Philippines began to be of interest to the world thanks to Ferdinand Magellan's discovery in 1521, tourists might as well begin their travel plans by visiting Magellan's Cross which is found in Magallanes Street of Cebu City. This place is of much historical value to the Philippines because it's also where the baptismal rites of the earliest Filipino Christians were held.

Mactan Island -- Water sports have always been a favorite activity by tourists when visiting the Cebu and if you're fond of this as well, make sure that you drop by Mactan Island because the waves there are alike no place else!

Cebu is also the jumping point to other exciting destinations like Dumaguete, Bohol and Sumilon. <bio>Dan Eggers live in Dumaguete City in the Philippines, his Dumaguete City Guide can be found at http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/ and his lively Dumaguete Forum at http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/ </bio>

Christian speaker Peter Hansen has started a new humanitarian relief organization (Angel Relief) after seeing the great need for humanitarian help in the Philippines. Christian speaker Peter Hansen has traveled most of the world, and seeing the great basic needs for help, has brought his attention to do more relief work.

Peter says: It is overwhelming to see the great needs among people in places like the Philippines and even in Eastern Europe! I want to help and sow a seed into these peoples lives and give them a hope for the future, even though it is very difficult for them. Being a light is what can make a world of a difference in their daily lives.

Together with his fiancee Abby, they have traveled throughout the Philippines speaking in churches and High Schools and giving out rice and food to those with a need. Recently they went to General Trias in Cavite, Philippines where Peter spoke in two Assemblies of God churches. In the churches they gave bags with clothing and food to those who needed it and throughout the morning they went to very depressed areas where people were living in handmade shelters of wood and old materials. Here they gave food and clothing to families with children.

Peter says: Being in a place like this just makes me want to do more relief work. The children were so happy to see us. It was a great experience to see their faces with big smiles. We want to do and continue more work in areas with poverty and hunger. It is a blessing to give and know that what we do is a great help in their daily lives.

Angel Relief will continue to help with food programs in the Philippines. Between 16- 23 percent in the Philippines suffer from hunger. That means more than 15 million people have a difficult time getting food in their stomachs everyday! Aside from that, those who life in poverty will make their children work instead of sending them to school. Angel Relief will also make a school supporting program and help the poor with school supplies. Angel Relief is working together with churches and schools to make it easier to distribute the help and keep it under supervision to make it safe.

Peter says: As a Christian, it is my duty to help people in need. But it is not only a Duty, it is something deep inside my heart that wants to help and spread the love of Christ to those with a need of any kind. As a speaker and preacher I know my words have power, but the truth is, my actions and attitude have even more power. It is true with all of us; we cannot say something and do something else. We have to do what we preach! <bio>Peter Hansen is a young dynamic Christian speaker who has spoken to thousands of people about faith and life and being involved with relief work in many countries. Angel Relief International is a Christian humanitarian relief organization helping the homeless and poor. http://www.angelrelief.org </bio>

Bohol is by far one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines. With its combined historical and natural sights and a number of high class and budget hotels, this is a must see destination to make your stay in the Philippines complete.

Bohol is as mentioned one of the best tourist destinations that the Philippines has to offer. It is an island located literally in the middle of the Philippines and is part of the Visayas region. It is accessible by boat and by plane. Bohol can be reached from Manila via Cebu which takes about 50 minutes by plane or an overnight boat ride. From Cebu a fast boat to Tagbilaran which is only 1.5 hours, or one of the ferries to either Tubigon or Talibon would be an option too.

The most practical way to reach the island is to catch a ferry boat from Cebu to Tubigoan and take a bus from Tubigon to Tagbilaran. This is a faster and cheaper way to reach the capital compared to a direct boat ride. Bohol belongs to a tropical country prone to typhoons yet its geographical location has helped the island to be shielded from typhoons due to the fact that the surrounding islands blocks the heavy winds prior to reaching Bohol.

Bohol offers a wide range of pristine tourist destinations both natural and historical in category. Beaches, natural parks, wildlife and the famous Chocolate Hills are just a few of the highlights of the island. Bohol is as good as it gets and what better way to spend an unforgettable vacation than to complete it with the right place to stay.

Bohol Hotels offer high quality services and affordable rates. Most of the hotels are resort hotels and are located near white sand beaches. Other hotels are further inland yet are still fashioned out in a nature oriented outlook. Bohol hotels offer comfortable accommodation, recreational and dining services.

These hotels offer tours and transfers around the island so there is no need to worry on how to go about the vacation that has been planned for. There are travel packages offered by most of the Bohol Hotels and lasts for 3 days and 2 nights, but one can always extend if this time frame is not enough. There are a lot of hotels and resorts around the province of Bohol and it is all about choosing the right one and the right place to stay in which suits both your needs and your budget.

when one plans to explore the Philippines in a naturalistic approach , then Bohol is a must see place, especially the world famous Chocolate Hills and the very cute tarsiers only found here.It is one of the best choices amidst all the other islands of the archipelago. Its hotels add up to the beauty of the entire island. Whether you want to stay in a beach resort or in a place near the busy medium sized places like Tagbilaran and Tubigan, Bohol has it all waiting for you.<bio>Peter Garant is writing articles about both Bohol sightseeing and Bohol resort for his philippines travel sites.</bio>

Region 7 in the Philippines is characterized as central Visayas with places such as Dumaguete, Bohol, Siquijor and most importantly Cebu. Cebu is one of the biggest cities in the Visayas and it is the ultimate trade city of the south. Cebu is the oldest city in the Philippines and has the only International Airport in the Visayas which makes Cebu an important metropolis in the Visayas.

The native language of the Philippines is Tagalog, but the native language of Cebu is Cebuano, which is also spoken in other places such as Bohol, Leyte, Negros Oriental and parts of Mindanao. Every city in the Philippines has a patron saint and the patron saint of Cebu happens to be Our Lady of Guadalupe. There are many religious events in Cebu and the saint that is widely used by the natives is Santo Niņo de Cebu. A whole festival is dedicated to him, called the Sinulog which is celebrated every January with street shows and dances.

Cebu is the center of economic activity in the central Visayas. The total investments, export and import of Cebu city totals an amount of an estimated 10 Million US dollars, which makes Cebu a powerful metropolis. Cebu has big industries including electronic, computer, food processing and most importantly mining and shipping industries. When you take a bus to Cebu city you will see the big coal mines near the sea and you will even drive underneath a mining company that is situated alongside the highway. Most of the shipping industries are located in Cebu which makes this metropolis the most and easiest accessible city in the Philippines. National and International shipping is going through Cebu and the city earns millions just from the shipping taxes and toll taxes.

Other multimillion business chances can be found in the Mactan International Airport at Mactan City, Cebu. This International Airport gives access to all the trade opportunities in Asia, Europe and the US. Cebu is also the home of the International Convention Center in which the 12th ASEAN summit has been held where world leaders congregated. This shows that Cebu is already the international metropolis that it should be. The education in Cebu is also very international. The first International Academy of Film and Television has been established in Mactan, Cebu in 2004 and is the only international film school in the Central Visayas.

The central Visayas also have a big network of print media and broadcasting media. Cebu itself has three local newspapers that are published daily and several other little tabloids and community newspapers. Broadcasting outlets are also numerous in the queen city of the south. Cebu has three television stations that can be accessed through cable and a total of 23 radio stations with 13 AM radio stations and 20 FM radio stations. This is just another proof that Cebu City is not only the oldest city in the Philippines, but also one of the richest and economically stronger cities in the Philippines.

You can also find many historical monuments in this central Visayan city. One of the most important and often visited monuments is the Magellan's Cross. Magellan's Cross can be found in a small chapel that is located next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niņo, which is fronting Cebu's city hall. Cebu has something for everybody; good food, great malls for shopping, and monuments for your cultural desires. Cebu will be unlike any other city you can visit in the Central Visayas.<bio>Peter Garant is writing Cebu City articles for his site about the Philippines.</bio>

When planning a vacation north of Luzon the choice would likely be Baguio City. And no wonder--it's the summer capital of the Philippines since September 1909. Baguio, Philippines has since been among favorite tourist destinations in the country and even in Southeast Asia.

Baguio, Philippines used to be known for vacationing in mountain cabins on hilltops and hillsides during holidays, summer time, Christmas, or even ordinary days in earlier times. Today, mountain cabins still flourish in the city with chimneys, like those at Teachers Camp along Lenard Road. But most lodges in Baguio today are hotels and inns.

Having an altitude of 1500 meters, temperature can drop to 7.1 degrees Celsius like in March 1963. It even fell at a low 6.3 once in January 1961. It can also soar to 30.4 degrees Celsius like in the summer of 1988. Baguio, Philippines is sometimes referred to as Little America or Europe especially in cold months when people in the streets wear thick colorful sweaters or jackets and bonnets.

Going to Baguio from Manila takes some 5 hours to travel via bus or car. The North Central Luzon Expressway (NCLEX) is taken past the picturesque provinces of Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, and parts of La Union. At the foot of Baguio, Philippines there are 3 routes to choose--the historic Kennon Road, Naguilian Road, and Marcos Highway. The trek up from here often takes 30 to 45 minutes.

Kennon was designed by Americans in the 1900s and constructed with the help of native Igorots. Somewhere halfway this route is the fascinating Bridal Veil Waterfalls with a hot spring underneath and past several camps is the huge carved rock, the Lion's Head. After some more ascending turns and twists Baguio City, Philippines emerges.

Naguilian and Marcos Highway ascend more gradually than Kennon but takes longer to traverse. Buses and trucks take these routes. There's a point along Naguilian where the China Sea and parts of Pangasinan and La Union sprawl in the panorama. Going up Baguio, Philippines is quite breath-taking.

The traditional stop once in the city is at Session Road. Historic and romantic Session Road is the city's financial center and thriving businesses line up along it. Session is a gauge of the city's progress. When everything's upbeat at Session so is everything else in Baguio, Philippines. Be sure to drop by Baden Powell Inn and Baguio Museum on top of uphill Session Road.

Burnham Park is the most frequently visited tourist spot here. It's just at the lower end of Session Road. Daniel Burnham--the park was named after him--was the city planner and architect who designed Baguio, Philippines in the 1900s, intending it to look similar with how US cities were planned. The park is lively with boat-riding, biking, concerts, food, and sometimes tribal festivals.

Vacationers also visit far-off tour sites outside the city proper where pines and thick mists abound. Places like Mines View Park, Manor House, Wright Park, the thickly forested Camp John Hay and the Philippine Military Academy, Crystal Cave, Lourdes Grotto, and more.

Taking a break in Baguio City is not just a vacation; it's an adventure.<bio>Peter Garant is writing Baguio City articles for his site about the Philippine Islands.</bio>

Experience to swim in a two-foot water. In addition, do the same hopping in the ever famous Hundred Islands of Pangasinan in Luzon. Watch how the sea water engulfs the little islands when the transition of tides began. Wear you best swimsuit and diving gadgets as you leap into the clear blue waters of the island. Aside from that, you can also experience scuba diving. Most beach resorts now in the north provide this kind of services in order to showcase at the same time the magnificent coral reef of the country.

If you are not the type of person who simply enjoys to lay down and tan your skin under the heat of the sun, hopping from Luzon to Visayan beach resorts are the bests for you! In fact, most of the westerners now are realizing that the waters in the southern part of the Philippines are perfect enough to compete with the best of the best waters of Hawaii, Australia and those other countries that are known for surfboarding. Asking for the biggest catch, it is budget friendly. Trainers are friendly and hospitable in accommodating and attending to your needs.

Are you already mouth watered? Well, these are just a few of the beach resort destinations that the Philippines can offer. In fact, there are other resorts in the Philippines.

Pool resorts are around the metropolis for those who can not hop around the country for an out of town. Within Metro Manila, the country's capital, you can see various swimming pool resorts that offer different amenities.

There are those that have golf courses inside for those golf enthusiasts. Some have tennis courts and badminton courts. There are various treats and tricks in the swimming pool itself which has automated waves.

Swimming pools are certainly safe for your children because swimming pools are created for their heights. For those who love diving, there are diving boards =96 high and low, to suit your desire.

Here's another, Philippines has also this nature based resort, the first eco-resort in the country and the best catch, and it lies within the heart of a crowded city. The La Mesa Dam Water shed has a state of the art and clear waters. It has a fusion of man made innovations and nature's prowess in one. Swimming pools are not just the only thing that it offers. Springs and lake pools are options that will surely confuse you. You can also do picnics and biking around the area.
The Philippines is an archipelago, having 7, 107 islands, and is abundant in nature, warm people, natural wonders, and filled with pleasant discoveries. Philippines is now considered as one of the top destination in the world, having 1.5 million foreign tourist arrivals for the first semester this year.

With hundreds of destinations in the country, the top 3 on my list are the following:

1. Boracay

Boracay is located in the northwest corner of Panay Island that belongs to the Visayas island group of central Philippines in the Pacific. It is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations, and now, became an international destination too. The White Beach and Bulabog Beach are just the two primary tourism beaches, which are located on opposite sides of the island.

Aside from taking dip of the crystal blue water, you can also take a boat around the island, hire a motorbike or scooter to explore the place, or go horse back riding, and experience the native villages and sceneries that usual visitors don't do.

And, did I tell you that Boracay has one of the most beautiful sunsets? Well, you don't surely want to miss it. And, the fun doesn't end there yet, since Boracay nightlife is pulsating with so many bars and restaurants around that will give you fun until dawn.

2. Bohol

Located in the Central Visayas region, Bohol is the home of hospitable and warm people. Boholanos, as what the natives are called, are very proud of the natural wonders that are bestowed in the island. To name a few, it is the home of the famous Chocolate Hills! Imagine seeing no less than 1268 hills, that are uniform in shape and will turn chocolate brown during summer, and from which the name was derived. You can also see the Tarsiers, one of the smallest known primates and be amazed when they turned their heads by 180 degrees.

Bohol is also blessed with a numerous white sand beaches, and Panglao Island is one of the famous destinations, having powdery sand. It has a large number of top class diving sites, which both foreign and local divers would consider it as diver's haven.

3. Palawan

Palawan is located in the Western Visayas Region and the islands stretches from Mindoro to Borneo in the southwest. The place is for adventure seekers and nature lovers and its famous for its marine sanctuaries, white sand beaches, and exotic wildlife.

One of the "a-must-see" in Palawan is the Tabon Cave. It is a 138-hectares, of rugged cliffs and deep slopes. Because of its importance to Philippine History and heritage, the site was declared a Museum Reservation Site by virtue by the Philippine Government.

Another is the El Nido marine reserve. The scenic landscapes, crystal clear waters and the isolation from the big crowd of the city usually attracts and fascinates the travelers of the place. Kayaking, snorkeling, diving, hiking to the peak of the island, bird watching, sunbathing in a white beach are just some of the activities you can enjoy.

There are still a lot of things that Philippines offers, and it's just there, waiting to be discovered. So, travel in the Philippines now! <bio>Experience life in business and pleasure with luxury and style at a very affordable cost and hospitable people. Travel in the Philippines now!
The Philippines has recently gained itself a bad reputation due to all the political on-goings in the country. Clashes between rebel forces and the government, rumors of coup, status of emergency declarations, and even suspected links to the al Quaeda -- no wonder some Western governments cannot help but release travel advisories against visiting this country.

Before you decide against a trip to Manila, you should bear in mind that the newspapers do not always give an accurate picture of a situation. Sensationalism is their business, and sensationalized news is what you usually get.

Manila is located in the northern island of Luzon. The terrorist stronghold is located in the southernmost part of the Philippines -- two big islands away -- in Mindanao. The status of emergency was indeed declared but civilians basically continued to live their normal lives even as it was in place.

It is very easy to get around in Manila. The jeepney is the Philippines' most common form of transportation. It is actually based on the US Army jeep but is longer and fits about 16-20 people. You can also get on buses, the Metro Rail Transit, and hire cabs. Language is not a major problem as even the people on the streets can speak rudimentary English.

Manila is well-known for its nightlife. You can find bars open until 3 or 4 in the morning. The Makati and Malate areas are where you can find the hottest clubs and bars. Makati is a bit more expensive but safer as well.

Malls abound in the metro. You can find anything from designer brands to nondescript but very cheap brands. Food is not a problem. Filipino food, American fast food, Japanese food -- you can find anything there.

Filipinos are very hospitable by nature. You will be surprised at how friendly and helpful most of them are. It's actually a different form of racism -- they seem to treat Caucasians in a much better way.

Cost of living and traveling is so much lower than in western countries. So if you have dollars or euros, chances are you will have no problems availing services that meet your standards. Hotels and other accommodations are abundant and easy to find.

If it is the beach you want, then you can opt to go out of the city. The nearest beach can be reached in about 4 hours from the city. You can take a plane to other parts of the country if you want to see more.

Whether you are traveling alone or with your family, Manila is a good place to visit. It will be a rich cultural experience for you. <bio>For more information please visit http://www.444.net.. </bio>

The Philippines is one of the most sought after travel destinations in Asia. With its unique and diverse culture, visitors from both sides of the world cannot help but wonder at the beauty and attractiveness of this country. Its diverse and interesting culture is a result of its colorful past.

After being colonized by various countries for several centuries, it has emerged to become one of the most beautiful countries worldwide. Among the most visited parts of the Philippines are Manila, Baguio, Boracay, Palawan and Cebu.

Each of these travel spots has certain things to offer which are completely different from the other. Among the places mentioned, Boracay is probably the best. Despite being commercialized all over the world, this beautiful tourist spot has maintained its quality, as well as its reputation as one of the top beaches in the world. It offers good food, cozy hotels, exciting outdoor activities and endless partying with its beautiful crowd at night.

The most important part of this country is Manila, which serves as its capital city. Most of the important events in business, politics, as well as in arts and entertainment, take place in this area. One of the major events flocked by both local and foreign devotees is the feast of the Black Nazarene, which is held annually in Quiapo.

Meanwhile, Baguio is the summer capital of the Philippines. Visitors can enjoy the good weather and outdoor activities offered by this place. Among the top outdoor activities in Baguio are horseback riding and boating. Another main feature of this place is the flower festival, which serves as a garden show for home gardening and small businesses within the area.

Palawan is undoubtedly one of the best tourist spots in the country. This place combines urban development with exotic wildlife and natural resources. The discipline and cooperation of its local residents help maintain the natural balance of the environment. Besides its beautiful white sand beaches as well as its azure waters, visitors can also visit good places like the Calauit Island in Northern Palawan and the Tabon Caves in the southern part of the region.

Cebu will not be outdone by its counterparts.
Somewhere in Southeast Asia between the Philippine Sea and the East China Sea, east of Vietnam, south of Taiwan and just north of Indonesia, lies a much neglected but historically and ecologically prized archipelago known as the Philippines. This understated cluster of 7,107 islands is the perfect tropical getaway balanced with just enough colonial cultural intrigue and undulating urban energy to keep you going. Despite the country's somewhat turbulent recent history, the Philippines has reached a level of stability making no better time than now to travel the wonders of the island-nation.

Colonial Legacy, Indigenous Heritage The first western encounter with the Philippines occurred when Spain's Ferdinand Magellan arrived in 1521, initiating over 300 years of Spanish colonization. A tremendous amount of today's Filipino population is a fraction Spanish, although a negligible number of residents are completely Spanish. The United States took over colonization in 1899 until the Japanese invasion of the strategic islands during World War II. Following Japanese defeat, the Philippines received its independence in 1946. American cultural and military influence still permeates through island culture, although the last U.S. military base has finally been closed. Original human settlement in the region began about thirty thousand years ago when people crossed then-existing land bridges from Asia. Malaysian and Indonesian settlers joined the fray a few thousand years later to constitute a most interesting blend of semi-indigenous cultures still present in the Philippines today. Direct descendents of the first arrivals currently live in the northern province of Zambales.

A Pocketful of Paradise The nation is divided into three main regions, each with its own metropolitan hub and particular points of interest. Luzon to the north is the most populated region, with the expansive capital city Manila as its main destination. Travel farther north to Banaue where a spectacle of rice terraces had been etched up along the hillside by the Ifugao tribespeople over 2000 years ago. Also, don't miss the truly isolating beauty of Hundred Islands National Park where you may just find a beach all to yourself, as there are literally hundreds to choose from. The central region of Visayas is mostly smaller island clusters and famous for Boracay Island's White Beach and surrounding resort and aquatic activity areas. Make sure to explore the island's less crowded, but just as white-and-turquoise beaches. The southernmost region of Mindanao is home to Davao, the largest city in the world by land area, and the stately Mount Apo, the Philippine's tallest mountain. Enjoy a thrilling river rafting trip in Cagayan de Oro or get back to basic Filipino life in the Tiruray Highlands where the remote shores of Lake Sebu are peacefully inhabited by the T'boli tribe.

While the Getting's Good With nearly 40,000 kilometers of coastline, a fantasy-like landscape of tropical greenery, and world-class cities offering world-class cuisine and lifestyle, it's hard to imagine that this puddle-jump in Southeast Asia will remain a secret for long. See for yourself why the Philippines is one of the last remaining gems of biodiversity and indigenous culture in this ever-growing region of the world! <bio>For more information on international travel and discount airfare to Philippines, visit http://www.cfares.com, your source for cheap airfare on the web. </bio>
