If you have been marketing on the internet for a while now, you should have realize the importance of keyword research. It doesn't matter how or which way you earn money online, most likely or not, you still must have the proper keyword research skills to analyze what these keywords means.

Keyword research is the first foundation step for any website, seo strategy and even article marketing. Without doing keyword research, you are only assuming keywords you think people are searching in the search engines which may not be true.

Most people uses overture keyword inventory database to find out what people are searching for online because it's free. The other two keyword database are wordtracker and keyword discovery which are paid subscription.

Comparing the 3 keyword database

Let's take a look at how all 3 keyword database gather their database of keywords.

For overture, it is the collective keywords gathered by the yahoo and overture search engine and it tracks keywords up to 30 days.

One disadvantage of overture is the keyword search volume may not be always accurate as it can be skewed by automated bots hitting their search engines.

For wordtracker, it uses meta search engines such dogpile and metacrawler to gather its keyword database. It tracks keywords up to 90 days and it's keyword database has approximately 330 million keywords.

Wordtracker database is more accurate than overture as the chances of automated bots hitting meta search engines are pretty remote.

The disadvantage of wordtracker is that it does not accurate represent the internet's search volume keywords since meta search engines only takes up less than 1% of total keyword search volume.

For keyword discovery, it gathers data from more than 180 search engines with the majority from google. It tracks up to 365 days and has approximately 32 billion keywords in its database.

The major advantage of keyword discovery is in its massive keyword database which can allow you to dig up keywords that may not show up on overture and wordtracker.

Now you might think keyword discovery is the best keyword research tool since it has the largest keyword database. However it may not be necessary depending on what you want to do. For example, if you are just trying to come up with new ideas for a product or a website, then overture and wordtracker will be sufficient.

If you are trying to gather a large keyword list for your niche, then use keyword discovery. If you are doing ppc with adwords or yahoo search marketing, then developing a huge list of keywords is important and keyword discovery can do that better than wordtracker or overture. <bio>Discover the keyword research tool recommended by Ricky Lim at http://epromote.info/1/nb.htm that allows you to mine keyword discovery, wordtracker and overture databases plus 13 other keyword tools. </bio>

The most important ' component ' of a web page, if it concerns to come high in the search engines, are the so-called keywords. A keyword is a word (or range of words) where people are looking for in the search engines. If people want to learn more about horses then they type in the search engine e.g. "horses". If someone wants to learn more concerning web hosting they type "web hosting". Therefore both "horses", and "web hosting" are keywords.

It is very important that you know which keywords are important for your Internet site. Thereby it is not important which keywords you yourself find important, but which keywords potential visitors will type into the search box when they are in search for information which is on your site to find. Even afterwards take the time to think about concerning the keywords: "what would an average person type into the search engines box?". Make a list of all these keywords.

For example:

- concours - feeding - hippiqu=E9 - horse

- horses - horse-riding - horse-training - jump - rider - riding school

After you have considered as many relevant terms as possible it is also important effectively to know how many people search on your keywords. Usually the search engines do not give you this information for free. There is however a good Internet site which is specialised in this matter: Wordtracker.com. At this Internet site can look up you for free how frequently there is searched on certain keywords in Altavista. That gives of course no complete picture but it gives an useful impression. It is, however, just a bit an experiment before you get results, but that is worth it!

That is however not yet everything: Wordtracker.com give you also information about how many competitive Internet sites there are with your keywords, and therefore how much chance you make and how high you can come in the search engines. This is extremely valuable information! If you want to know what your keywords are doing in the other search engines you can conclude a subscription at Wordtracker.com, then you have enormously much extra information on your keywords which is in the free version not available. After your visit to Wordtracker.com. you know exactly which keywords are most important.Place these keywords on your list.

All rights reserved.
Looking for a great Internet marketing research tool? Look no further than Wordtracker. This indispensable tool will tell you exactly how popular particular keywords are in relation to how many sites are ranking under them. And that tells you how easy or difficult it will be for your site to rank under those keywords, as well as how much traffic you can expect to get from them.

In fact, this research can be used in almost all aspects of starting and running a profitable online business: from identifying viable niche markets, to optimizing your site for the search engines, to running successful pay-per-click campaigns.

And identifying hot keywords is a breeze when you use the best Internet marketing research tool available to you -- Wordtracker. Here are five easy steps for finding top-performing keywords and using them to their best advantage:

1. Build a list of keywords you think people are using to search for products in your area of interest: All you need to do here is put yourself into the shoes of your potential customers. What words would YOU use to describe something you didn't know very much about? Formulate a list of 100 to 200 words and phrases.

2. Refine your keyword research in Wordtracker: Read my 2-part blog post for a great introduction to this keyword tool. Then go to Wordtracker and plug in your keywords to get a list of related words, find out exactly how many people are searching for them, and see how many sites are ranking under them. (NOTE: The paid version is far superior to the free version.)

3. Check out the competition: Not all of the "competing" sites in Wordtracker will be real competitors. So type your most promising keywords into the search engines and size up the sites listed under those terms.

Are they selling something entirely different? Do their sites look unprofessional and have no opt-in forms? Are they offering something for free that you want to sell? By looking at the sites that come up on the search pages, you'll know who the competition really is and what you have to do beat them.

4. Test your keywords using pay-per-click ads: Once you've further refined your list, test them out in pay-per-click campaigns. This is the FASTEST way to see how much traffic these keywords will generate. And it will also allow you to see which words convert the best.

5. Spread your keywords to the far corners of the 'Net: Put your keywords EVERYWHERE, including your website copy and code and in your opt-in offers -- and watch your traffic numbers soar!

Once you've completed these five steps, you could see huge gains in your traffic and conversions.
The process of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has gained popularity in recent years as a mean to reach target audiences through improved web site positioning in search engines. However, few have an understanding of the SEO methods employed in order to produce such results. The following tips are some basic best practices to consider in optimizing your site for improved search engine performance.

The first step to any SEO campaign is to identify the search terms (also referred to as key terms, or key words) for which you want your site pages to be found in search engines =96 these are the words that a prospective visitor might type into a search engine to find relevant websites. For example, if your organization's mission has to do with environmental protection, are your target visitors most likely to search for "acid rain", "save the forests", "toxic waste", "greenhouse effect", or all of the above? Do you want to reach visitors who are local, regional or national in scope? These are considerations that need careful attention as you begin the SEO process. After all, it's no use having a good search engine ranking for terms no one's looking for.

Your target terms should be at least two words in length and, of course, be relevant to the contents of your site page. Your own intuition and team brainstorming are good places to start with key term selection. However, there are tools designed to assist you in validating your choices and researching search term possibilities you may never have never even considered.

WordTracker and Overture offer two of the most popular such tools: WordTracker (www.wordtracker.com) is the industry standard tool used for search term selection research. Although there is a fee for using the full version of WordTracker, they also offer limited trial where you can test out the system. Overture (www.overture.com) also offers a "Term Suggestion Tool" that can be utilized for researching target search terms when you sign up for a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) account with them. By strategically selecting terms that are popular enough to bring you visibility with target audiences, yet not so general/competitive that a prominent ranking will be difficult, you can ensure that your SEO efforts are built on a stable foundation from the start.

We Have the Terms, Now What Do We Do With Them?

Once you have selected the search terms you want to target, the next step is to integrate the terms into your site pages to make them relevant.

Selecting Pages for Optimization

Initially, the pages that you select for optimization should be those that offer the most focused content relating to the terms you want to target =96 you may already have such pages on your site, or you may need to develop them from scratch. You can optimize as many pages as you like, but each page should focus on no more than one or two of your target terms. If your organization <bio>Get even more search engine traffic with help of Jeff Colman's new SEO software - TargetedVisitor.
Not content with your site's page rank? Of course you want to be on the first twenty search results when somebody typed in the keyword you are targeting. However, you are apparently getting nowhere. Perhaps it's time to do something about it.

--- Keyword Density Misconceptions

One of the first things you should check is your page's keyword density. Check your articles' content. They say, to increase the traffic in your site, you need to maintain a keyword density of 2% - 12% in your articles. The higher the percentage, the better are your chances to be on top.

Since you think this is the best that you can do to increase the traffic in your site, you will keep in mind to maintain such a percentage. Hence, in writing your articles, you will aim to reach a certain percentage that you have set. This would not be a problem as long as it is well-written and organized. However it is more than likely that your articles will not make sense because of such great keyword density.

--- Keyword Spamming

After packing your pages with keywords, you may not still be able to attain your page rank goals. Your articles may be keyword-packed but the search engines may just lump you up with the keyword spammers. This will not do at all.

The key here is to use other words related to your keyword. How will you do it then? Perhaps the dictionary will help you on this. Writing an article can be exhaustive, though, and it will be even more exhausting if you need to seek related words. There may be times when you run out of words and all you can do is to keep on repeating your keyword/s.

--- The Wordtracker Solution

Should you want your site to be top ranking in search results try other means aside from maintaining a certain percentage in word density. Analyze your articles keyword content and variation using a wordtracker.

In case you don't know, wordtracker is a tool that you can use to search for other words related to your keyword or keywords. Just click on the word universe and all the words related to your keyword or keywords will appear. Thus, you will not keep on repeating the same word or set of words over and over again until you finish your article.

Through the wordtracker, your article will appear very well-written and informative without much difficulty on your part. You can now write as many articles as you want, each packed with relevant keywords that would boost your site ranking, without sacrificing the quality of the information you are conveying to your target market or readers. In short, your pages are keyword-rich even while they makes sense to your target readers.

You may wonder how you can be on top of the search engine results pages if your keyword is not mentioned in your article a lot of times. The fact is, search engines can now group keywords and keyword variations. As long as you have a lot of your keyword variants in the article, that article will still be considered keyword dense and thus relevant. This can lead to increased page rank.

There is a bonus, too, to using word tracker. Once your target consumers reach your site, they will find your content and articles informative and easy to read since it is not filled with a recurring keyword or keyword phrases. Your readers will then find your articles worth reading because you don't sound so redundant, and they may be induced to bookmark your page, refer you to others or better yet, buy your products or avail of your services. <bio>David Bain is the author of the free report Top 10 Search Engine Optimization Mistakes.
Search engine optimization (SEO) refers to methods of making web sites "friendly" to the different search engines, and many consider it the best strategy for long-term traffic generation. Optimizing your site doesn't necessarily guarantee high search engine placement, but you'll have a much better shot at it than those whose sites aren't optimized. And the core of search engine optimization -- the foundation upon which you'll base your entire optimization strategy -- is keyword research.

Anyone reading this article probably realizes the futility of just guessing which keywords to optimize for. It's possible to do everything else right but still fail miserably. You might optimize your site for keywords that don't get any searches at all, or -- what's more likely -- you'll choose keywords that are too general and nearly impossible to rank highly for. The answer? Use keyword research tools.

The tool that I use and recommend is called Wordtracker. Wordtracker is a keyword research tool that uses metacrawler information to pull keywords and keyphrases from a search query database. (Don't worry if you didn't understand that -- neither do I.) What it means is, Wordtracker helps you find relevant keywords and then tells you how often they get searches. Here's how to do it:

First, you'll need to sign up for an account. You can get a free trial, or you can get a paid membership for a day, a week, a month or a year. The free trial is severely limited and not very helpful; it shows results only for MSN, and it allows you to research just 30 keywords at a time. You'll want results for Google and Yahoo! most of all, and you'll have to go through hundreds or thousands of terms before you find the really juicy keywords you'll want to optimize for. That's why I recommend signing up for a one-day membership at first. You'll get to try Wordtracker with all the features enabled, and a day's membership only costs around seven bucks.

Once you have your account, log in to the members area. Click on "Keyword Universe" (top left) and you'll get a screen prompting you to enter a search term. Enter a generic term as a jumping-off point. For example, if you run an online dating site, you should enter a term like "get dates online" or "internet dating." It doesn't matter if the term is incredibly broad; we'll narrow it down in the next step.

Let's go ahead and use the dating example for this exercise. I've entered the term "online dating," leaving both the lateral and thesaurus match options checked. This gives us a lot of different related terms we can expand upon, including a bunch that we might not have come up with on our own.

I'll now click on "online dating" in these results, which brings up a new box on the right side of the screen. This is a list of all the search queries for the term "online dating" that appear in Wordtracker's database. The first column ("Keyword") shows the search query; the second ("Count") shows the number of times the search query appears in the database; the third ("Predict") predicts the number of searches for that query in any given 24-hour period; and the fourth ("Dig") lets you "dig deeper" to find even more specific variations of that query (click on the shovel icon to dig deeper). Clicking on a search query in this list will add it to your keyword basket, or you can choose to add all of them at once. I'll add them all, and then click on the blue arrow in the bottom right corner ("Click here for step 3and#8243;).

Now we have a few options. "Export Keywords" sends the list to a text file that you can print out or cut-and-paste. "E-mail Keywords" lets you e-mail the list to yourself or anyone else. "Competition Search" is what we're really after, so click on that. This will bring you to a screen that lets you choose two search engines to check for competing sites. Definitely choose Google, and you'll probably want to choose either Yahoo! or MSN for your second one. Leave "KEI Analysis" and "Quotes" set to "Yes," and then click "Proceed."

We now come to a page that ranks our keywords by KEI, or Keyword Effectiveness Index. You'll notice that each search term has been assigned a KEI value. The higher this is, the better the search term; i.e., pick a search term with a high KEI value, and it'll be easier to optimize your site for it. Each term has a different KEI depending on the search engine, so be sure to check the same terms in different engines, depending on which ones you want to rank on. (Also, remember that you can only perform a competition search for 100 terms at a time. If you have more than 100 in your basket, you'll have to go back and do everything again for the next 100.)

According to Wordtracker, KEI is determined by comparing the number of competing sites for that term with the number of times it appears in the Wordtracker database. A KEI value of 10 or less means a poor keyword, between 10 and 100 is a good keyword, between 100 and 400 is an excellent keyword, and 400 and up is practically a gift.

The results for "online dating" don't look very promising. Our best term for Google is "dating agencies online in somerset," with a KEI value of 84.941. If this happens to be your niche -- that is, online dating agencies in Somerset -- then this is a fantastic keyword. For most of us, this would be pretty useless. We can see that the next one down is "top online search adult dating service hiv positive dating" with a KEI value of 22.091. Again, probably not quite the niche we're in, and the KEI isn't nearly as high as we'd like it to be.

At this point, you'd go back to step one, choose a different result, and repeat the process all over again. With some patience, you'll uncover those juicy niche keywords with high counts and low competition, and these are the words you'll optimize your site for. <bio>To see a version of this tutorial with screen shots illustrating each step, and for more articles by Ryan Cole, visit http://www.theinternetmarketingblog.org/2006/09/09/using-wordtracker-to-improve-search-engine-ranks/. </bio>

If you are reading this you might be close to setting up your first website ever or you can be a person with experience that is just curious to see if there are things that you might have missed. Whatever the case is I hope to be able to provide you with a few of the things that I personally feel are important when you are picking the right domain name for your new site.

I assume that you have already found the topic that you are going to be focusing on and therefore I will not go into any of the things that relates on how to find a profitable market online. The reason I say this is that I assume that you new site will somehow have a business related theme as a personal website with pictures of your family and stuff doesn't need much consideration when choosing the domain name.

So let us get into the things that I strongly feel you would have great benefit from.

It is a know fact that more and more traffic (aka visitors to your site) comes from the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN (which has now launched their new site called Live). So with this fact in mind you will need to find out how to get the best possible placement in the search engines so that people will come visit your site.

Most online marketers agree that from a SEO point of you the right keyword rich domain name can help your site rank better that if you are not using a keyword rich domain name. You might say that site like http://Nike.com, <a href="http://Amazon.com" >http://Amazon.com and <a href="http://Ebay.com" >http://Ebay.com doesn't have keyword rich names and you are absolutely right.

However the difference between you and the great site is that they have much larger advertising budget than you have and therefore they can get away with having names that doesn't make much sense. So if you are on a small budget I suggest that you go for the keyword rich domain name approach.

Choosing a keyword rich domain name does not mean that you will have to end up with a name that nobody will ever remember. That can be the case but it doesn't have to be. Let us say that you are going to create a site that deals with pets. Maybe you want to sell pet toys and other accessories.

What I would do is to go to the site called: http://www.wordtracker.com/free-trial.html and sign up for the free trial. Once you have received the e-mail from WordTracker you would enter "pets" in the field.

You'll see that the word "pet supplies" has a count of 2,000-2,500 visitors in a 90 day period. If you had paid for the full version of WordTracker (I strongly recommend that you do) you would have found that for the keyword phrase "pet toys and supplies" and that 145 people are searching for that particular phrase every day and that there are only 857 sites competing for that exact phrase.

Now that is great information and you can now use it for finding a domain name that will 1) Tell your visitors what it is that you do and 2) hold some really great keywords that you will want to target to rank in the search engines.

If you go to the site called: http://idenion.dk/tools/multidomaincheck.aspx you'll be able to enter domain names in the box and test whether they are available. I have just tested the domains http://pettoysandsupplies.com and http://pet-toys-and-supplies.com and both of them are available. That is great news as the domains names will help you some of the way to get the high rankings that you want. <bio>Mikael's http://www.mrieck.com/domain/ site features information and guides to effectively finding the right domain name. </bio>

Keyword research is such a vital aspect to your overall success online that it simply can't be ignored. You need to be able to find good keywords to target, quickly and easily. There are many paid options out there for your keyword research, but I must say that the only keyword research tool that I use currently is a completely free tool from the most powerful search engine online, Google. That is right, I use the free Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

The Google Adwords Keyword Tool is arguably the best keyword research tool available. With their latest update, I can now make this claim. This tool now gives you actual numbers from Google itself that tells you the volume of searches that are done on a given keyword. Before this tool would give you a bar with a volume indicator on it, but now they give you actual numbers. These numbers can really help you identify good keywords that you should be focusing on for your website.

How To Use This Tool More Effectively?

One simple method for utilizing this tool more effectively is to type in the main keyword of your niche that you are trying to target, and make sure that "Use Synonyms" is checked. That will bring up potentially hundreds of other keyword combinations that either use that phrase or a similar phrase.

Once you get your results you can find good niche phrase to easily rank for by sorting by the Advertister Competition. Look for the keywords that get some search volume, but have little advertiser competition or no advertiser competition.

Once you find these keywords you can go to Google and search for that phrase in there. The logic behind this method is that if people aren't paying for these keywords in Adwords, than chances are people aren't trying to optimize for this phrase on their website. Since there is less competition trying to rank for a phrase there is a better chance you have of getting targeted traffic from that keyword phrase.

Now, I am not saying that you just focus on these niche phrases when you optimize. You should optimize for the more broad phrases on the main parts of your website, but these longtail phrases are great for writing posts or for getting good search engine rankings for niche phrases. Don't get discouraged if a keyword only has 1,000 visitors per month. That is not a bad thing because if you can get 5% of those visitors each month, that is an additional 50 targeted prospects that will see what you offer, and you do the work once to get ranked.

Why Does This Tool Blow The Competition Out of the Water?

Many of you are familiar with WordTracker as a keyword research tool. I feel that this tool totally blows Wordtracker out of the water because I feel the data is more accurate than WordTracker, and also the amount of keywords that this tool picks up way exceeds WordTracker and their limited resources. The other reason I like this tool better is the price. It is FREE! You can't lose with it.

Other Important Notes

Also, when using this tool and considering the volume they show there, remember that these numbers do not represent data from other search engines like Yahoo or MSN. So keep in mind that across the board the volume is higher.<bio>Paul Counts is an SEO consultant and Internet entrepreneur.
In order to find the right tools to research high paying AdSense <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/keywords" rel="tag">keywords, it is important to know what information you want o know about keywords. It would be just great if there were a tool that told everyone exactly what Google pays for each keyword, but that doesn't exist and anyone who creates such a tool is certain to be barred from Google forever because it is a clear violation of the terms and conditions of having an AdSense account to reveal any income information to anyone else.

You can use Adwords keyword tool to select keywords and you'll get some information. But there are many, many great tools out there that will help you select the right keywords for your AdSense campaign focus. Look for only those tools that provide information about the number of searches performed, the number of competing websites and a "guestimate" of profitability.

Keyword elite will do all of that and a lot more. Keyword elite allows you to create keyword lists with the most profitable keywords and thousands of variations. Keyword elite let's you spy on your competitors adword campaigns so you can do better. With keyword Elite you can find the highest paying keywords for adsense publishing.

WordTracker is probably the best known and most popular tool for finding keywords that are profitable and that have little competition. However, it does entail a subscription fee so that you want to subscribe for the period that you will actually use the tool and no longer. You can subscribe for a day, a week or a month, or indefinitely. Only those people who use the tool frequently should consider an indefinite subscription due to the high cost.

NicheBot is a free tool that is really handy for this. Unlike WordTracker which costs quite a bit for a subscription, this tool has just about everything you need or want and it is absolutely free to use. It is web-based and perhaps not quite as fast as WordTracker, but it works just great. And it is being upgraded all the time with new features.

KeyWordDiscovery offers a free trial period, after which there is a subscription fee. However, it is a reasonably popular tool for keyword researching.

Overture Keyword Research Tool is another free tool that you can use. It gives you the information you need but the output is based on Overture search engines and you would do much better to get Google search engine results.

To find the right tools for you, try several of the free tools you'll find with a simple Internet search. You may find one that meets your needs very well. If not, then it is time to begin using some of the subscription services. **************** About The Author **************** Peter is the owner and webmaster of: http://keywordselite.powerrss-seoelite-xsitepro.com/ - http://www.web-optimum.com- http://www.powerrss-seoelite-xsitepro.com/keywordselite.html **************** About The Author **************** Please use the HTML version of this article at: http://www.isnare.com/html.php?id=41232

Extensive keyword search and analysis is essential for website publishers. The performance of a particular website will depend upon the keywords it used as its content. For instance, if your website focused on "swimming", its contents must have keywords and phrases that portrays on "swimming". In this way, the site's popularity search in a search engine will be higher, thus placing them on higher ranks during a particular search.

Another thing aside from higher rankings in a search engine is the profitability of the website. Although there are really high profits that can be derived from using Adwords or Adsense, if your site uses keywords that are not popularly searched by Internet users, there will be no visitors that will click on those paid advertisement.

How will you determine if a particular keyword or phrase is popular to Internet users? Fortunately, there are keywords analysis tools and software that you can use to determine it. In addition, it will not only identify what keywords are popularly searched but also it will determine how many times that particular keyword or phrase has been searched. It will be a great help in optimizing the contents of your webpage.

There are number of keyword research software that are available for keyword research and at the same time for its competitive analysis. Keep in mind that this software may be free of charge or will require you some monthly subscription.

Yahoo! Search Marketing

One of the major search engines in the web, Yahoo offers this search marketing tool to webmasters and Internet marketers who want to know the keywords people are searching. All the keywords that are stored in their database are updated in a regular basis. And this tool is offered free of charge. Just log in to the provided link in the Yahoo home page.

Wordtracker

It is one of the popular keyword research software tools in the web today. Keyword results that are provided by Wordtracker are compiled from Dogpile and Metacrawler. Although the services provided by this software will require you monthly subscription, it is worth the money that you will pay; it has the ability to provide you the keywords you need to optimize your webpage content.

Nichebot

Nichebot provides you an updated top 15 weekly list of the popularly-searched keywords in the Internet. The result is retrieved from the Wordtracker database; thus it assures you the best keyword search you need. It has a thesaurus, keyword analysis, and other useful functions.

Google Sandbox

Although not as flawless as the results posted by the three previous keyword research software, Google Sandbox is still worthy and actually can be relatively useful when used with other keyword analysis tool. All you have to do is to take the results you have obtained from the Sandbox database, copy, and paste it to other research tool to provide you extra results as well as search counts.

Google Suggest

This research software is useful to analyze the competitiveness of the keywords that you have searched by popularity. If your keyword is low-competitive, you can use it as your webpage content in order for your site to gain higher rankings in a search engine.

Overture Keyword Tool

It is the longest-running keyword research software that has been the favorite of many Internet marketers before the introduction of the Wordtracker. It jumbles up the keywords along with the phrases that you have used and eliminates what it thinks are irrelevant words. It is quite effective if will be used with keyword analyzing software.

These are just some of the keyword search software that you can use in determining the keywords you need to optimize your webpage content and at the same time improving your site's rankings in major search engines. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.keyword-service.org </bio>

One need to choose those keywords that are frequently searched for and which is in high demand, but not being already used by many other websites and competitors, and thus has low competition. There are a number of keyword research tools that can help you find them.

Apart from the Wordtracker which was already discussed in an other article, we have some more equally important research tools like the Overture, Google AdWords Keyword and Guidebeam.

Overture's http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ keyword suggestion tool is free and much quicker to use than Wordtracker. It works more like the Wordtracker but doesn't tell you how many websites are targeting each keyword phrase. For example if you type `Computer', the Overture search suggestion tool will tell you that during the last month the word `Computer' was searched, say for example 459550 times at http://Overture.Com. Similarly 'computer game' was searched 302210 times. Also, given one word it will tell you all relevant combinations of that word, which are based on actual searches done by people. If the word you keyed in is not a common search term then you will not get any results. It means that very few people have actually searched for that word during the last month.

Even Google Keyword Tool generates potential keywords for your ad campaign and reports their Google statistics, including search performance and seasonal trends. Features of this tool include:

=95 Sorting the results of your desired keyword search by popularity, past performance history within the AdWords system, cost, and predicted ad position.

=95 Easy keyword manipulation where you can select a few keywords here and there or add them all at once.

=95 Searches for keywords present even in any webpage URL specified by your search. It can also expand your keyword search even further to include those pages that are linked to or from the original URL page.

=95 More keyword results are generated based on regularly updated usage statistics database. This helps you to get new keywords or phrases.

Guidebeam http://www.guidebeam.com/ is an interesting resource. Type in a phrase and it will suggest a large number of related searches. The numbers generated against each phrase are Guidebeam's estimation of how relevant that phrase is.

These softwares are useful for researching how people search the web and then optimizing your own web pages so that more people find your web site. <bio>Claim Your Free Advertising Ebooks Here: http://www.460freeadvertisingsecrets.com Find out how you can build a large list very fast: http://www.7dollarsecrets.com/?=geri_mason@ntlworld.com </bio>

One of the most important tricks in internet marketing is that keywords are important for search engine ranking.

To get high search engine ranking, you need to discover what keywords your visitors use, and to avoid keywords which you will share with a lot of other websites.

One thing to remember is that your readers will use a variety of keyword combinations. To improve your search engine ranking you need to include all those possible variations.

For example, "keyword" can be typed as "keywords", "Keyword", or "keywords". Wordtracker or another similar service can help you get all the terms you need so you can improve your search engine ranking.

Once you get your keywords, you need to use them frequently in your website so web crawlers will think that your site is relevant and automatically give you a higher search engine ranking. Of course peppering your article with keywords is not enough.

The position of your keywords is crucial to your search engine ranking. For example, using keywords in your title and at the start of the article gives a better search engine ranking than putting them at the end of the article. Your links should also either use your keyword or be surrounded by them--another trick to good search engine ranking.

But even if you use thousands of keywords in your website, if you are competing for a commonly used keyword then it would be difficult to get a good search engine ranking--competition is just too tough. In this case, it would be better to use a keyword which less websites use, so your search engine ranking improves.

How would you know which keywords would improve your search engine ranking? Aside from Wordtracker, you can try looking at the service you provide and the common situations or questions that would prompt people to do a search engine google search.

For example, someone researching on keywords is probably studying search engine ranking, improving search engine ranking, search engine ranking tips, and how to get higher search engine ranking.

Study these variations and incorporate them in your site, and you'll achieve higher search engine placement just by modifying your keywords. <bio>To learn more about how to claim $50 in FREE Advertising, plus easily earn Pay-Per-Click money to promote your Web site(s), go to http://www.bigdaddypays.com/payperclick Steve pavis tries to be at the cutting edge of new concepts that are profitable for the small to medium size business, who need all the help they can get.
A high Web site ranking is essential for online success. Besides creating plenty of backlinks to your site, one of the most effective ways of getting higher rankings is to embed your site with optimized keywords.

Here are 3 key considerations:

Consideration #1: Create a keyword candidate list:

The first thing you need to do is locate keywords that are actually relevant to the content on your Web site. This may seem obvious, but it is not as easy as you think if you try to do it manually. For example, if your Web site offers a customized logo design service for online businesses, you may want to associate the keyword logo design with your Web site. But, this single keyword will not be enough due to other factors that influence the viability of a select keyword. So, you will need multiple, relevant keywords to embed into your site. In this example, you would want to create a candidate list of multiple keywords - between 20 and 100 - that relate to the concept of logo design.

Consideration #2: Find frequently-searched keywords:

The next element is that the keywords you find need to be frequently-searched on top search engines. For example, if you come up with quality logo design services as one for your candidate keyword list, this at first glance seems to be a good candidate because it is directly relevant to your offering. However, you also need to find out just how many times people search for this term. If the term is relevant and frequently searched, it has met almost all of the necessary criteria as a winning keyword. However, if you find that quality logo design services only gets 3 searches per day, you may want to not include it in the content of your Web site.

Consideration #3: Find keywords with few competitors:

Of course, keywords like your original one - logo design - may be searched for hundreds of times per day on major search engines. But, a quick Google search reveals that over 5 million other Web sites also feature that phrase. Good luck getting your site well-ranked for this keyword! Reason: unless your site ranks on the first few pages (and preferably page one, above the fold) in search engine results, your site might as well not be ranked at all. Visitors will have to find your site some other way.

What to do: among those words on your candidate list that you have found to be frequently-searched, it is time find out which ones are featured on relatively few other Web sites. To do this, you can do a manual search on Google for each keyword (which is very time consuming), or you can just run a keyword search on a keyword optimization tool.

A keyword optimization tool is an online software application that will do everything listed above for you. Learning to use a keyword optimization tool takes very little time, and the investment in such a tool can pay for itself by using it to find just one, well-chosen keyword. Note: right now, Wordtracker=AE is offering a free trial for their leading optimization tool.
The job of a good search engine is to do its best to accurately match the keywords of a human user with relevant Web sites. It stands to reason, then, that those Web sites that feature frequently-searched content - content that is optimized - will rank higher in search engines than will other sites.

Here are 5 tips for doing search engine content optimization.

Tip #1: Do not rely solely on keyword meta tags: Five to ten years ago, you could do good search engine optimization just by submitting your site to a ton of directories and loading up your HTML with keyword meta tags: information that search engines could see but that casual site visitors could not. Nowadays, keyword meta tags do almost nothing to help your site achieve a strong ranking. That said, it never hurts to take the time to find some good meta tags, as some search engines still use them to help classify your Web site. Go ahead and use them, but do not rely on them solely for your optimization strategy.

Tip #2: Make sure the content is relevant to the mission of your site: The days of packing your site with irrelevant keywords are over, as search engine meta-crawlers are increasingly sophisticated at assessing content quality. Instead, focus on finding content keywords that accurately reflect the mission - or goals - of your site. This will also increase the chances that people who actually desire the content you offer will visit your site.

Tip #3: Find content that is frequently searched in search engines: This is pretty straightforward, but Webmasters and content creators often overlook it: make sure the content you are using in your site is associated with keywords that people are actually searching for. There is really no way to find this out, however, without using a keyword optimization tool (see #5 below).

Tip #4: Use keywords that are featured on as few competitive sites as possible: Yes, you want keywords that are hot, but not so hot that everyone and his brother have them featured in their Web sites. Rather, competitive keywords are those magical ones that are both frequently searched and underrepresented on other sites.

Tip #5: Use a keyword optimization tool for best results: In order to get optimized content, you are going to need a keyword optimization tool. Overture provides a nice, free tool for doing quick searches, but it is severely limited in terms of speed, functionality, and its ability to tell you whether a keyword is competitive. I recommend using Wordtracker=AE, the leading tool available today. You can get a free trial at: http://www.Wordtracker-Free-Trial.com/

Search engine content optimization is almost important as having good content: without it, the people you are really targeting will rarely find your Web site. Embedding your site with content that is rich with keywords that people actually search for, but that have few competitive Web site featuring that content, is one of the smartest things you can do to improve your site rankings. It is worth spending an hour or so to really get to know a keyword optimization tool and start finding keywords that really set your site apart. I guarantee your competition is already doing it. <bio>Got optimized content? If not, your site is likely missing thousands of potential hits per month.
Having a web site that is high on the list of natural search results can be an enormous benefit for your business, but the question is, how to get your website there? You may already have some knowledge about the use of keywords, but to get your website on the first page of search results, and hopefully to the top of the list, identifying the right keywords is extremely important.

When working with keywords for your website, there are two things that you need to keep in mind. The first thing is relevance; search engines are getting a good deal more "intelligent" than they were in the past, and simply putting a high incidence of keywords on your website will no longer get you the top ratings. The keywords should be well-integrated into your site in a constructive way.

The second thing to think about are the keywords themselves. While the keywords for your site may be very obvious, you still might not be reaching the right audience. For instance, if you run a site selling bird care supplies, you will probably get quite a few hits from people looking to buy the birds themselves and people doing research on birds. Hits from people who are uninterested in your services will still drive up your bandwidth costs, so the question becomes, how can you find keywords that will maximize the number of relevant hits to your website?

One tool that you can use to guide your search for good keywords is Google Analytics. With this free application, you can keep track of what people are searching for when they come to your site. This can tell you what search strings people are using to find to your site and whether your keywords are representing your site in an accurate fashion. If you find that most of the people who come to your site are actually looking for a related product or something else entirely, it's time do some rewriting and rewording!

There are also programs out there that are meant to help you improve your keyword strength. Wordtracker is one of these; not only does it analyze the strength of your website in terms of its ability get top search engine hits, it will also help you come up with improved keyword strings. The more information you feed into it, the better your results with Wordtracker and programs like it will be.

Getting to the top of the search engine list is one way of getting on top of the competition. The people who are using Google and Yahoo are already looking for you; if you can make it easier on them, you'll have a self-selecting customer base ready for you and your products. <bio>Norman Vincent is a UK based Keyword Specialist (http://www.keyword-researcher.co.uk).
Do you know why...?

Even though your website promotes a product/service, your website is a product unto itself, and you have to promote it. A multimedia approach is most effective. Make sure your URL appears in all ads you do for your product/service, as well as on your letterhead and business cards. Teach classes or give lectures on your topic of expertise and hand out class material that has your website and contact information included. Whenever you send email to an affiliate, partner or customer, include your website address in your email signature line.

Search engines consider where you place your keywords, and how many times you use them, in order to figure out your ranking and the relevancy of your site to a customer search request. You want to be ranked as high as possible on the search engine list, so place keywords in the page titles and meta tags and early in the content of your page.

Think of your website as a series of websites, not just a home page. Then you realize that each page of your website must be search engine optimized. You can help accomplish this by using keywords in page titles. The title of each page, the keywords you use on that page and the phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site using different search engine terms and techniques, so be sure you capture all the keywords and phrases you need for each product, service or information page.

Because the web is an ever changing landscape, you have to keep track of your own web results, what is happening with the competition and the best and highest search engine ranked sites. Find and use tools that will help you cut through the muck and mire and get to the heart of what is happening, develop your website plan, test your own website links, develop and review online ads, find affiliates and partners and more.

Make sure you are using the right keywords to get potential customers to your website. Do some researches on sites like http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/. Type in the keyword(s) and keyword phrases you think are going to work on your site, and see if these are actually the ones that most customers use. Include commonly misspelled words in your keyword list so you Don't lose a customer just because they Don't know how to spell.

You can also test keywords at wordtracker at http://www.wordtracker.com. Wordtacker will allow you to find and research dozens of combinations of keywords.

Using the correct keywords to attract your target audience based on what they search for will cause search engines to spider your articles more often, raising their rank in organic searches.

Begin testing this idea right away... <bio>Jon Roussel is a five year veteran of the home base business industry.
What do I need to know first about law firm Internet marketing?

"In modern business, it is not the crook who is feared most, it is the honest man who doesn't know what he is doing." Pablo Casals

There are tons of vendors out there who want to sell you websites and law firm Internet marketing services. Most are honest people who simply don't know what they are doing. In many cases, they are attempting to sell you something that is overpriced and that won't produce you any new clients at all, let alone good clients. The attorneys I have worked with report to me that the whole Internet marketing process confuses them. They don't know who to believe. Some have spent considerable sums already on websites with little or no results. I aim to stop all that. So keep reading.

Do I need law firm Internet marketing?

Yes. According to Reuters News Services by 2007 there will be over nine million legal services searches done online each month. Additionally, prospective clients and clients expect you to have at least a website or think you may be behind the times if you do not. Finally, while the yellow pages are not a good attorney marketing vehicle today they are going away since people are searching the Internet and not going to the yellow pages.

What is/is not law firm Internet marketing?

Having a website is not law firm Internet marketing. At a minimum you do need at least a "brochure website" of a few pages, however, that website is unlikely to get you new business and is definitely not Internet marketing. The rest of this article (in four parts) is going to help you get clear on what Internet marketing is all about.

Where does Internet marketing begin?

Law firm Internet marketing begins with you becoming an educated consumer and then keyword research. Researching your practice's best keywords will tell us what words your prospective clients are using to search for legal services on search engines, what legal services your prospective clients are the most interested in, what your prospective client is thinking, how to attract these prospective clients to your site at the search engine instead of going to your competitors site, what your competitors are doing/not doing, what content to write for each of your top keywords (recommend writing a page each to at least the top 20 keywords), what are the words to use for PPC law firm advertising and how to begin search engine optimization. If you have not adequately completed keyword research using software tools like Wordtracker you have not done adequate keyword research and are likely to fail at your law firm Internet marketing.

You mentioned, "...what content to write for each of your top keywords...". What are you talking about exactly?

I am talking about what is known as the CTPM model of Internet marketing developed by Ken Evoy M.D. in 1997. This model works because it is in total alignment with how the Internet works. The C is the first part of the model and it stands for Content -- create in demand content (you determine what is in demand from the keyword research). The T is Traffic -- attract targeted traffic. The P is for pre-sell -- pre-sell the targeted traffic (using such things as newsletters, RSS feeds, free downloads, e-books, autoresponders, audio, video, and teleclasses). The M is Monetize -- this is where you convert these pre-sold prospective clients to clients easily.

You mentioned, "...tools like Wordtracker..." with respect to keyword research in law firm Internet marketing. What is Wordtracker?

Wordtracker is a software tool that can be used to thoroughly research your keywords. Wordtracker is at least arguably the best keyword research tool in the marketplace and there are others. You can go to http://www.Wordtracker.com to get all the details. Your vendor can use this tool easily and should use it for keyword research to put your law firm internet marketing on the right track from the beginning if at all possible.

You also mentioned "...how to begin search engine optimization." What is meant by search engine optimization (SEO) and exactly what is it and how does it fit into law firm Internet marketing?

There is no mystery in SEO in particular and law firm Internet marketing in general so don't let anyone bamboozle you on that one. As I said earlier SEO begins with appropriate keyword research. If you have not done that you are dead in the water since this is the foundation of everything that comes after in law firm Internet marketing. The next step is the "C" or content mentioned earlier in the CTPM model. You will need to write "keyword optimized" content to each of your top 20 keywords or another way to say this is writing your content in the way that search engines want to see it so they rank you higher than your competitors. Your content needs to fit together in a site plan (the term site plan refers to in what order your pages will appear and how they link to one another) that has an appropriate pyramid type structure. This pyramid type structure includes your home page (the peak of the pyramid) themed keyword phrase being supported by all the tier two pages (the next layer of the pyramid) and their tier three pages (usually the base of your pyramid although you could go deeper) support them resulting in higher rankings for all of your pages. There are some technical aspects to SEO as well like the use of clean HTML, heading text, meta tags, alt tags, site map, etc., however, mercifully I won't go into those since they should be known to your technical person. The bottom line is put nothing in the way of the search engines spiders (spiders are sent out from the search engine to "read" the sites on the Internet) being able to "read" your site like fancy flash pages get in the way big time for instance. To know more in depth about keyword optimization you can go to http://www.Wordtracker.com where they have a really fine Keyword Research Guide if you want to know more of the details. All of what I just told you is known as "on site optimization" strategies for law firm Internet marketing. There is also "off site" optimization as well involved in SEO. Off site optimization means getting one-way links from high-ranking pages of other sites that are related to your top 20 keywords (there we are again with that keyword research being vital) that link to your site. Search engines see these links like a "vote" for your site. The more high quality "votes" you have the higher they will rank your site. The term "link popularity" is used to describe this process in law firm Internet marketing. The royal road to high quality links is having (here he goes again) keyword researched and keyword optimized quality content on your website. You get these links from website directories, article directories, online forums, press releases, etc. I left out reciprocal links because most SEO authorities think they are no longer worth the effort since they are difficult to get and don't really contribute much (or can even hurt) to your page ranking.

We have completed the first part of law firm Internet marketing at this point. In part two we will go into Google Page Ranking, dealing with your competitors, RSS, the factors surrounding costs of law firm Internet marketing and more. I am committed to you being a master of law firm internet marketing at least to the point you will get new clients from your efforts and not get taken to the cleaners by vendors who may not know any better. <bio>Henry has individually coached well over 500 attorneys.
Before you begin your website's on-page optimization and link building, it is important to first research which keywords and search phrases will attract relevant visitors. To do this there are a few tools and techniques which will help you make a decision on which keywords to target.

Keyword Research Tools

Probably the most popular keyword research tool on the Internet is the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool created by Aaron Wall. This tool currently exports data from Wordtracker which periodically compiles a database of over 330 million search terms collected from Dogpile and Metacrawler. From these Wordtracker results this tool then estimates the daily search volume levels from Google, Yahoo and MSN for each search term. Typing in a keyword or search phrase will also bring back a variety of related search terms that also generate volume. Previously this tool used results from Overture's keyword suggestion tool which generated volume results from their paid search network. Now that it uses Wordtracker, the volume results for this tool seem a lot more accurate.

Another tool to use is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. This again will bring back a variety of related search terms for the keywords you type in and will provide search volumes, this time though in the form of a bar rather than an actual total number. Although this data is taken from Google's paid search results, it is still valuable information as you are gaining knowledge of search volume actually from Google and not third party esitmates.
In this series of articles I am going to be talking to you about what is sometimes referred to as an "online science". Now don't panic, as always I aim to keep things as simple as possible. So spend the next few minutes with me and I assure you that you'll be blown away with what I am about to talk to you about.

Let me start at the beginning=85

As we are all aware, people use the Internet to search for information. By providing people with this information we can make a killing. We simply find out what people are searching for, and then we provide them with it. Simple!

Now here's the thing. If you can "optimise" your web site to show up whenever people in your niche market search for information you can make a huge amount of money online. For example, if someone typed in "kidney stones cure" and you're the top web site in Google for that search term you can pick up tons of free visitors to your site and explode your online income.

So many think that topping the search engines can only be done by huge companies, or those with massive budgets. The truth of the matter is it's free when you know how. Over the course of a few articles I am going to show you step by step how to top the results for your keywords related to the service or products you sell. We're going to be able to do it quickly, relatively easily and most importantly without spending a single penny.

So what do you need to do first? Well the first thing you need to do is create a large list of keywords directly related to your niche or service. You can do this by using http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/.

So let's say you were selling a product on "how to grow the perfect rose garden". You'd go to the above link and type in "rose garden". Now make a huge list of all the keywords that show up that are directly related to rose gardening.

Once you've got a list of 50 or so keywords your ready to start optimising your site for the search engines. I'll be showing you how to do that in the next article.

Please don't let the name "search engine optimisation" put you off. It may sound technical and that you need to be some sort of online whizzkid to be able to do it, but the simple fact of the matter is do it correctly and it doesn't need to be technical at all. <bio>Andy Michaels is an information publisher specialising in helping people start their own home based business.
The most important ingredient for online success is the ingredient most people pass by. It's the foundation. It's the groundwork that forms the basis of everything you do thereafter. Without laying the foundation, all your efforts will produce inferior results. This article will briefly describe the first steps to building a successful online business.

The first thing you need to do is identify your target market. This may sound overly simplistic but you need to get specific here. Who is your market? Who are they? What do they do? What do they have in common? Try to get as specific as possible and write everything down. Make a series of bullet points describing your target market, your audience, your ideal customer.

Once you know who you're targeting, you need to develop a list of keyword phrases. This should start with a visit to your competitors' sites where you can view their meta tags and see what they're targeting. The next step is to put your favorite keywords into the publicly-accessible Google keyword tool to see which words have the greatest organic search volume while encountering the least amount of competition.

Take those keyword phrases and enter them into a Google search to see what the competition is in the organic world (as opposed to the ppc world). And lastly, enter them into the WordTracker keyword tool to get an estimate of their actual daily search volume. With these four steps, you should be able to find a series of keyword phrases you can target that have the least amount of competition.

With your targeted keyword phrases in hand, you can begin writing your positioning statement. Your positioning statement should be between 15 and 25 words long and should accurately and concisely describe your business such that anyone reading it for the first time could immediately identify your business and core competency.

Your positioning statement should be included in your meta tags as your website description. It should also be included on your homepage so visitors will see it first when they enter your site. Lastly, your positioning statement should be used in every online location that includes a backlink to your website, including article directories, forums posts and email signatures.

Go back to WordTracker and get a one-day membership. Enter your chosen keyword phrases and print out the related words it generates. The search engines look for related words when they index your website and the best resource for determining the related words you should be using is WordTracker. The one-day membership will cost you about $8.

Keep the list of keyword phrases and their related words near by when you begin building out your website. You should get in the habit of incorporating them as often as possible on your individual webpages. This will become natural after a while but a conscious effort needs to be made at the beginning to develop the pattern. Your keywords should also be included in the meta tags of each page on your website, customized for the content on that particular page.

Taking these steps will leave you with a better foundation than 99% of the websites out there. It really doesn't take that much time. You can do most of it in a single afternoon but the impact on your websites focus and search engine ranking will magnify all the other internet marketing activities you undertake. Lay the foundation first and move forward afterwards. <bio>Tactical Execution with Patrick Schwerdtfeger (http://www.tacticalexecution.com) is a strategic company focused on growth marketing and program implementation across business markets.
