Did you know that they way you store your wine affects its taste at least as much as the way it's made? Wine that's exposed to light, temperature changes, fluctuations in humidity, and excessive vibration can easily go bad, lose its taste, or suffer other unpleasant effects. This is why people have traditionally kept wine in cellars and other cool, dark places where it won't be disturbed. Unfortunately, most of us have neither the time nor the money for a wine cellar. Today's modern replacement comes in a huge assortment of styles, types and a vast array of manufacturers.

Danby Wine Coolers

The Danby company makes a range of quality coolers for wine storage. No matter what size your wine collection may be, there's a Danby cooler model that will fit your needs. All coolers are stylish and modern in appearance, so they won't clash with your d=E9cor. If you're serious about wine, you need to add a Danby wine cooler to your home.

Insulated Wine Coolers

Danby and other brands of well-made wine coolers are insulated. That means that heat can't get in to spoil the delicate flavors of your wine. Wine should be kept around fifty-five degrees Fahrenheit for the best quality. That's about the same temperature that's always present far underground, explaining why wine cellars have been subterranean. Now, insulated wine coolers provide a way to simulate those conditions.

Small Bottle Wine Coolers

Not everyone has the space for a large piece of furniture just to store wine, or enough wine to fill it! That's where smaller wine coolers come in. With capacities around thirty bottles, these wine coolers are appropriate for the home without much space, or without a lot of wine.

Countertop Wine Coolers

For the user with even less space, countertop models are available. They offer the same quality wine storage in smaller units. Countertop wine coolers usually hold between six and twenty bottles of wine. They only take up a few cubic feet of space in your kitchen, dining room, or entertainment room, and provide great wine that's been stored properly, whenever you might want it.

Built In Wine Coolers

Of course, for the person who's really serious about wine, there are built in wine cooler models. These range from a twenty-seven bottle wine cellar, to an executive model, which provides a controlled environment for up to a hundred and sixty six bottles of fine wine. When you really want to take care of your wine, and have a large collection, these fine pieces of furniture are a must. <bio>Bottle Wine http://Cooler.com is here to help you make wise decisions on your first or next bottle wine cooler purchase.
Wine cellars are typically underground so that they are kept from bright light and high temperatures which can cause wine to spoil. You can either build shelves for your wine cellar or buy from a commercial builder. It is very important that the shelves allow the wine to lie on its side keeping the cork moist. Otherwise the cork could dry out. The area that you plan to use must not be too moist or it will cause your wine to rot. Wine cellars need to have a consistent temperature and humidity. Wine cellar equipment is available to monitor both of these. It would be best to have the monitoring equipment so that you know whether your wine is being kept at the correct temperature to allow it to age.

Wine Cellar Cooling Systems

Eighteen degrees Celsius is an excellent temperature for storing wine. The best thing to remember when storing wine is to keep the cold in, no heat, and control the moisture levels. A wood door may be used as long as it has good weather stripping and a threshold. Some people use metal doors, which is ok too as long as they are insulated well.

Basements are the best choice for a wine cellar because they can be easily remodeled to maintain the ideal temperature. As long as there is good drainage for the excess moisture to be funneled away from the wine there should be no problem. Wine cellar cooling systems need not be expensive but they must work correctly.

Many good cooling systems are available depending on the amount you want to spend. They are not any noisier than a bathroom exhaust fan. There must be a room next to the wine cellar for exhausting the warm air from the cooling system. This room needs to be at least as large as your wine cellar and if it is bigger that is even better. The room temperature cannot be more than 30 degrees warmer than the wine cellar.

Wine Cellar Lighting

Since lights generate heat,

low voltage lighting is required. Track lighting is an option that works well. If you use overhead lighting, you have to be careful of the moisture barrier. Using timers is a good idea, along with motion detectors, this can be a good way to regulate the lighting so that your wine doesn't get too much light.

If your wine cellar is in a basement, lighting is an important factor. It has to be monitored so it doesn't cause the temperature of the wine cellar to get too high. Use a separate circuit breaker from the cooling unit to hook your lighting into. Although you don't want the lighting to be too bright, you want enough to be able to see when you are in the wine cellar. Wine cellar lighting is an important factor if you want your wine to age properly.

Wine Cellar Doors

The wine cellar door needs to be an exterior grade door. It has to have weather insulation stripping on all four sides. A threshold must be used to form a tight fit when the door is closed. If air is escaping around your door, the temperature cannot be maintained at the best level for keeping your wine from spoiling. Wood doors are fine if they are solidly constructed. However you can use a metal door as long as it is insulated on the inside. Many people prefer the wood door over the metal due to cost and availability.

Wine Cellar D=E9cor

Your wine cellar d=E9cor can be as fancy or as plain as you want it to be. Some people go all out and have mahogany doors, fancy wine racks, decorative lighting, bars, and almost a set up good enough to live in. However a wine cellar can be relatively plain with storage for the wine that you build yourself. It doesn't matter to the wine as long as the temperature is consistent and the room isn't bright as all outdoors.

The racks for the wine come in all kinds of sizes, shapes, and materials. Some people like the iron wine racks. The tasting table is used in some wine cellars for either a display item or an actual tasting table. Wine glass racks and tabletop wine racks are all fine to have if that is the d=E9cor you prefer. Nonetheless the main objective for your wine cellar is to age the wine at the precise temperature and conditions that it requires. <bio>http://winecoolerfridge.com is here to help you make wise decisions on your first or next wine cellar equipment purchase.
If you own a wine club or are an avid wine collector, then it's a must that you know the different aspects and benefits of a wine cellar. So read this article and study the meaning and various management aspects of a wine cellar.

Basically, a wine cellar is a kind of storage room or storage lot for wines in barrels or bottles. The wines could also be plastic containers, amphoras and carboys. The cellars are generally and prominently situated completely underground. These also have a direct contact with the surrounding soil following small gaps in the initial foundations.

These wine cellars provide the opportunity for protection of alcoholic beverages from prominently and typically harmful external factors. Moreover these provide a constant apt temperature and darkness to the wines. These are also used as modish surrounding for tasting of wine.

Well, the cellar management and wine management systems are reciprocals and dependent on each other. So let us study the various aspects of cellar management in the context of wine management system.

There are 4 basic elements that you need to manage in the wine cellar for elongated and effective storage of wine. These four elements are basically position, light, temperature and humidity. These four aspects need to be taken care off well, so that that every wine that comes out of the cellar tastes fine and people can enjoy it.

Position and Peace

The first thing which plays an essential part in cellar and wine management is the peace and position of the wines. The bottles need to be kept safely in a horizontal manner, so that they are not disturbed in any case. The reason that the bottles should be laid horizontally is that they should always be in touch with the cork and thus get prevented from drying. If the cork dries out, then the bottle would get affected by the bacteria, fungus and yeast, and this would later create off flavors in the wine.

It should be also ensured in the cellar room that the wine remains undisturbed for a very long time. As the time would pass, the wine would age and change itself in the bottle. It would continue to form sediments and these sediments should sink to the bottom of the bottle.

Temperature

Cellar management also requires that an appropriate temperature be maintained in the cellar. The wines in any case should be kept away from extreme cold temperatures and heat sources. The wines should not be stored in freezing temperatures which could cause the bottles to break. The wines should not be exposed to heat above 64F so that wines don't get cooked up in the bottle and develop off flavors. So there should be maintenance of a constant temperature.

Light and Humidity

Wine should be protected from strong and direct sunlight as it could have an adverse effect on the body and aroma of the wine. Darkness is the best option that should be maintained in a wine cellar. The humidity factor should also be kept in mind and the humidity level should be maintained high to avoid cork shrinking from the outside. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.how-to-make-wine.org </bio>

No matter what you tipple is; white, red, pink or sparkling, storing your wine correctly is essential. Simply putting your favourite bottle above the fridge and forgetting about it for a year could drastically alter the taste, then, when you come to enjoy it at that special occasion, it might not be as favourable as you hoped.

Despite wines being a perishable commodity, properly caring for and storing your wine can actually improve its' aroma, flavour, texture and complexity over time.

Step 1: How long are you storing your wine for?

The first decision to make is how long you are planning to store your wine for. Generally short term storage means 3 to 6 months and should be your cheaper, less cherished wines, where as long term can mean decades and should be reserved for your quality, precious wines.

Step 2: Correct storage conditions

Whether it's short or long term storage the same rules apply, firstly and most crucially the bottles should be laid horizontally instead of upright, this ensures the cork remains moist, to stop it drying out.

It is essential to keep the wines in a vibration free environment so they can not move about, therefore on top of electrical appliances or a place subject to external forces (i.e. from a subway) should be avoided.

Wine can be greatly affected by its surrounding temperature; the ideal temperature is roughly 55 degrees Fahrenheit (12=B0C). Bottles should be kept out of drafts and any temperature change should be very gradual.

Additionally light can negatively impact on a wine, which is why some wine bottles are made of coloured glass. Wine must be kept out of direct sun light, since too much light can react with proteins in wine, forming a haze and bad aromas to pollute its' flavour.

For long term storage, the correct atmospheric conditions are required. Humidity has to be very high, approximately 70% or more, in order to stop the cork drying out and to reduce the chance of wine evaporating. Also when storing long term, consider the wines surroundings, ensure there are no other foods or liquids that could be absorbed into the wine itself. Substances with strong aromas for example fuel or vinegar must be kept elsewhere!

Step 3: Enjoy=85

When the time comes to pop the cork and savour all your hard work, drink responsibly but do try to finish bottles within a few days of opening, since as soon as the wine is exposed to air it starts mixing with oxygen. This is known as oxidation, which also alters the essence of the wine.

Correct wine storage is fundamental for any serious wine lover, enthusiast or even hobbyist. The most effective storage is in a wine cellar, since numerous bottles can be kept conveniently out of sight yet in the perfect conditions.

Cheers! <bio>Spiral Cellars http://www.spiralcellars.com/uk/index.html offer custom built, cost effective underground cellars, which can be fitted quickly and discreetly. Professionally installed and only taking up a tiny amount of floor space, Spiral Cellars cellar's can hold up to 1600 bottles! </bio>

Phantom linear strips make ideal wine cellar lights. Due to both their flexibility and concealment, they can be positioned in a variety of positions that create both direct and indirect cove lighting effects. In smaller wine cellars, they can function as the primary light source, and in larger cellars where people gather for a quiet getaway into a better, alternate reality, linear strips can be used to create ambient wine cellar lighting that contributes a vital element to romance, mystique, and relaxation.

Because many wine cellars are intended for viewing rather than visitation, lighting them with standard overhead accent lighting fixtures can often detract from the presentation of the wine bottles and the aesthetic of ornamental wine racks. Wine cellar lighting in this type of environment must completely hide its source and magnify the bottles, labels, and racks without giving away the source of illumination. This can be difficult in narrow confines that often resemble a long closet more than what most of us think of when we visualize a room. In such quarters, Phantom linear strips can be mounted on the rear interior of the doorway of the wine cellar. Light shines back into the room from the concealed strips, creating a luminance that appears to grow out of the corridor and intensify as it reaches the bottles.

In larger wine cellars, lighting takes on a more subtle role as an accent to atmosphere. Wine cabinets and wine racks stand along the walls, normally surrounding a table or two where people can gather and enjoy wine and cheese and quiet conversation. Most wine cellars of this nature, though spacious in floor space, nevertheless have low ceilings. Flexible cove lighting strips can be mounted on top of racks and cabinets, shining light upward along the back wall and reflecting it off the ceiling. This is similar to valance and cove lighting, but it has a much more powerful effect due to the space limitations of the low ceiling. The light appears to climb the wall and wrap itself around the ceiling, fading toward the center in a gentle glow.

Lighting wine racks themselves can also be done with similar effect using linear strips. Because Phantom makes every LED energy saving lighting strip custom to the dimensions of either a horizontal or vertical mounting surface, strips can be fitted to the interior of the rack to emphasize the label and surround the bottle with an aura of light. Or, wine cellar lighting strips can be concealed behind the racks along the rear surface of the wood, shining the light forward for a silhouette effect. Because of this remarkable flexibility and precise matching of fixture size to mounting dimensions, the possibilities for wine cellar lighting with Phantom custom lighting strips are as many and varied as wine cellars themselves.

For lamping options, we recommend LED 2800K festoon lamps as the most ideal source of both direct and indirect wine cellar lighting. 2800K festoons produce the warmest possible colour temperature available in LED, and they are a viable replacement for incandescent and xenon light sources. It is extremely important to use LED strip lighting in any wine cellar if at all possible. The absence of UV radiation and infrared heat renders the light harmless to the wine itself and prevents interference with any refrigeration systems that may be in place. The distribution of light produced by the 2800K LED festoon is indistinguishable from that of previous, more primitive technologies, and is ideal for creating an atmosphere of warmth, colour, and comfort. This is also the most energy efficient form of wine cellar in cabinet lighting and the best option for those who wish to leave the lights on for most, if not all, of the time.

Due to the highly original and custom nature of wine cellars, lighting in these environments has to reflect a level of equivalent customization and adaptability to some of the most eclectic cabinetry and interior architecture found in refined and elegant settings. Because our Phantom LED cabinet lights are all manufactured custom to specification orders, the best way to order these lights is to contact our main office and send us blueprints of your wine cellar (if available), along with a series of photographs that will help us build your lighting strips specific to the dimensions, floor plan, ceiling height, racks, and cabinetry of your cellar.<bio>Phantom Lighting. If you do an internet search for wine rack you'll find sites that have custom designed wine cellars to hold hundreds of bottles under perfect climactic conditions to sites that have decorative countertop wrought iron wine racks that hold 4 to 6 bottles, the choices are endless.

Those who teach about wine storage teach about the importance of temperature, humidity, ventilation, and the angle of storage. Some even preach that care should be taken to make sure there is no vibration to work up the sediment from the bottom of the bottle. A little too much for me.

If you're like me, you only have a handful of wine bottles at any time, maybe 4 or 5. In keeping with the fundamental basic of never letting a cork dry out, I've got the bottles rolling around on their sides in a cabinet in the kitchen. This has been OK for my 4 or 5 bottles, not one of which cost me over $25.00. But now it's time for me to step up and find a wine rack.

Most true wine connoisseur's, those who spend their time researching the best year for a particular grape, who know the best growing regions and grape varietals, those who know how the wine is aged, those who spend anywhere from $50.00 and up for a bottle, who may buy a case of wine at a time, those people require more sophisticated wine storage.

All I want a wine rack that will hold a few bottles, out of the way that will look nice and enhance the style of my kitchen. There are many styles to choose from. There are some shelving wine rack units that come in a variety of finishes that will hold up to 150 bottles, too big. There is the 12 bottle wine rack with a very industrial look of wire and wood, not my style. There are some lovely wrought iron wine racks. A lovely set that are actually bookends that each hold three bottles, great to use if I had a library. How about a wrought iron cabinet with a lovely leaf design that holds up to 33 bottles? Or, a wrought iron hanging rack that holds up to eight bottles and eight wine glasses.... now we're getting close.

You may be amazed at the number of different wine racks you can find that will enhance the style of your home. <bio>To learn more about http://www.wine-rack-design.info please visit http://www.wine-rack-solution.info </bio>

At first glance, a wine cooler might seem like something only the rich would buy. After all, who needs a special appliance just to cool wine. However, if you're really serious about wine, and like entertaining, a wine cooler is a must. If you collect vintage wines, you're surely aware that light, heat, humidity and vibration can all aversely affect wines and possibly spoil them. This is why people have traditionally kept wine in cellars below the home. A cellar is a place where it's always dark, around 55 degrees, and where the wine won't be disturbed. Few of us have the luxury of keeping our own wine cellar these days, however. This is where Haier wine coolers can fill the gap.

Haier Wine Coolers

These refrigerators are high quality, attractive, and designed to keep your fine vintages at the perfect temperature and away from sudden environmental changes. Haier makes a line of wine coolers that will fit anyone's needs, from small countertop models, to large coolers that will fit even the biggest wine collection.

Dual Temperature Wine Cooler and Dual Zone Wine Coolers

Since different wines need different temperatures to taste their best, collectors of both red and white wines will find that a cooler which offers two different temperature zones can keep both kinds at their ideal. Dry white wines, blush, and rose wines ought to be stored at 55 degrees, and served between 46 and 57 degrees. Champagnes should not be stores, but should be served between 43 and 47 degrees. Light red wines should be stored at around 55 degrees, and served at that temperature. A fuller bodied wine is best stored at a temperature colder than 55 degrees, but served between 59 and 66 degrees. With all the differences, there's no wonder that the dual zone wine cooler was developed.

Wine Coolers for Sale

Now that you understand how a wine cooler can help you improve the quality of the wines you serve, you may wonder how to find them for sale. Unless you have a local retailer that deals in wine coolers, finding the right one could be difficult. Fortunately, the Internet allows you to find any wine cooler that you might want. A few searches for keywords relating to the specific kind of cooler you're interested in, as well as some time spent comparing prices can allow you to easily find what you're looking for.

Wine Coolers Reviews

However, unless you're already an expert in wine coolers, the range available can be bewildering. This is where wine cooler reviews can help. If there's a model you're curious about, but aren't sure is what you'd like, just search for a review on it. Remember that you should look for reviews on the specific model number, or you might get conflicting information. Other customers who've bought the wine cooler you're curious about can tell you about its reliability and how well it treats their wine. By shopping carefully, you'll find the perfect appliance to store your wine. <bio>http://www.whichwinecooler.com is here to help you make wise decisions on your first or next bottle wine cooler purchase.
Despite what many may think, the area known as Hungary holds more wine tradition than any other country in Europe. Most of this very tradition is just now surfacing in the light, with people finally starting to catch wind about everything Hungarian wine has to offer. Even though many wine drinkers aren't familiar with Hungary - there are many who are http://www.packagehost.info

Hungary is home to over 20 wine regions, fully of forests, vineyards, and orchards. With several different varieties of grapes to offer, the vineyards found in Hungary have flourished since the great Roman Times. The weather in Hungary is seasonal to say the least, with cold winters and extremely hot summers. This weather allows the soil in the country to be diverse, which allows wine makers to create a variety of quality wines.

Despite the communist control in the past, there are several different wines found in Hungary. Although the vineyards here produce a lot of excellent wines, Tokay Aszu is by far the favorite here and the wine that locals always love raising their glass to. Tokay Aszu is a popular wine with meals or dessert, in Hungary and also happens to be one of the most popular dessert wines in the entire world.

Tokay Aszu was discovered in the mid 17th century in Hungary, quickly becoming a favorite for many European aristocrats. Even though it was great to the taste, many believed that certain types of the wine had mystical healing powers. Although this was strictly a rumor, it actually helped the wine become more popular than ever. Over the years, Tokay Aszu was one indeed the most popular wine in Hungary, spreading to other areas of the world as well.

Egri Bikaver, also referred to as Bulls Blood is another popular wine found in Hungary. This is another popular wine for locals, and can be found throughout the world as well. Getting it's name from it's color, Bulls Blood is truly a feast for anyone who likes wine. The wine is dark red in color, yet sweet to the taste. The wine was first developed back in the 16th century, and remains popular even to this day.

If you ever visit Hungary, there are many places you can visit to get some great wine. You should also make a point to visit Tokay, located in the northeast. You can take a train from Budapest and arrive here in a few hours. There are several different wine flavors and varieties here, sure to please just about anyone. The wineries found throughout the Tokay area are normally open for tours and tasters from May to the end of October. If you visit during these months, you can tour the underground cellars, sample the superb wine, and learn more than you ever thought possible about the manufacturing of Hungarian wines.

All in the all, the wine found in Hungary is great to have in your collection or just have around the house for special occasions. You can get it by the bottle, the glass, or by the case. All types of Hungarian wine has been perfected over the years, making it something that you really can't go wrong with. If you like to drink wine, as most of us do, you really can't go wrong with any type of Hungarian wine. Hungarian wine gives wine lovers plenty to study, plenty to order, and plenty to drink. The wine is very tasty and refreshing - and it helps to keep the nation of Hungary thirsty for more. <bio>http://www.packagehosting.info </bio>

Wines as we know them are generally distinguished as either red or white wine. However, this distinction is much too simplified considering the various types of wine depending on the grapes they were made of and the location of the vineyard where they were grown.

Having invested possibly hundreds of dollars in your latest bottle of vintage wine (ah well, we can but dream), the next important decision is where to store this prized possession?

The knowledge that wine can come in hundreds, perhaps thousands of flavors, can leave you with a feeling of dread especially when you have to order wine in restaurants. The basic rule is that there is no one perfect wine because it really depends on your own taste buds. An expensive wine that may taste perfect for one can taste horrible to another.

When ordering wine in restaurant, ask for the wine you personally prefer or have gotten familiar to the taste of. If you are the adventurous type or you really don't have an idea which wines are good, then it is always practical to ask the help of the waiter or the restaurant staff taking your order. It is proper to surmise that the staff or waiter should have been given instructions and the basic training in wine selection by the restaurant owner or manager. But what if the waiter is just as ignorant as their customers about their wine list? What if the big decision as to which wine to order is left in your hands? Art of Wine Tasting.

If no one on the staff is knowledgeable about wines or can't make suggestions, ask the waiter to just come back and then ask your companions about their preferences. Ask your dining companions whether they prefer red or white wine. The most common choices would be chardonnay for white wine as this is the king of white wine, or cabernet sauvignon for red wine as this is known as the king of red wine. No other choice could be much safer.

Wines benefit from being kept in dark conditions. Although this is not always practical, wine should certainly be stored in an area that is not exposed it to direct sunlight.

If you are eating white meat life fish or chicken, it would be best to order white wine. If you have chosen red meat like pork or beef roast, then red wine lie Pinot Noir would be an ideal wine to order. Ordering wine by the bottle is sometimes cheaper than ordering wine by glass. There are restaurants that offer discounts to customers who order two or more bottles of wine.

Whether or not you have a limited budget, it is always wise to ask for the price of wine per bottle or per glass, if only to have a stock knowledge of their prices the next time you are tasked with the same decision to order wine for the group. If money isn't a problem for you, then Dom Perignon would be a good choice although this wine is higher priced than the others. There are equally good wine sparklers like Iron Horse or Domaine Chandon which are priced reasonably, depending on where you are eating.

There are wines that are better when they are less than three years old. You can try ordering white wines like Pinot Blanc or French Macon are dry white wines that command good prices and can be eaten well with appetizers. Wines are best drunk when they have been properly chilled.

Many modern wines do not need to be aged over a great period of time; therefore extensive cellars are often unnecessary. Having said this, if you have the time, space and resource to excavate a cellar, your wine will surely benefit. A purpose built cellar is not normally an option for most households and so suitable alternatives must be explored. <bio>Learn the art of wine tasting at http://www.wine-city.info </bio>

Wine is just not a beverage or a drink. Winemaking is a craft that has refined and evolved over the centuries and lent its magic touch to the tables of generations of people. To many people wine is much more than a drink; it is a passionate hobby that traces the creation of the wine from the formation of the grape, the juicing to the final wait as the wine matures in its wooden casks. Wine clubs have come into existence as a means of sharing knowledge bout the wines. They usually offer a selection of wines directly from the manufacturer. The internet has opened up new avenues in understanding and appreciating wine as it has connected the buyer, the seller and the manufacturer, and perhaps, even the growers.

There are wine experts in the wine club who give advice and share their experiences. The members can ask questions about the wines, receive guidance from the wine-expert or the winemaker about how it is to be served, preserved, presented and what food accompanies it. Amateur wine lovers can learn that about process of wine making, which involves the fermentation of grape juice changes it chemistry and converts it partly to alcohol. Winemakers have spent lifetimes in perfecting this craft and achieving that perfect taste and blend.

A wine club is thus a great way for a novice to get acquainted with the kinds of wines including rare wines and vintage collections as well as acquiring knowledge about the pricing and labels of the wines. Such clubs send out a few bottles of wine every month so that the members can savour the different kinds of wines, from the famous white wines of California to the vast variety in Italy to the sparking reds and rose wines from France.

Wine clubs thus make various kinds of wines accessible and provide a platform to exchange information about wines. Wines also make wonderful gifts and wine clubs arrange the delivery of these in decorative wine baskets.

Some wine clubs also arrange tours to the vineyards so that the members can comprehend the process and taste the wine straight from the wine maker. Since wine is an natural product, the final taste depends not only on the grapes that are used, but the climate, the soil, the method used, including the kind of wood used in the casks that they are preserved in, and the time used for maturation. Apart from this, there are many blends used to create the perfect blend.

Understanding the intricate methods employed in winemaking and tracing its history enhances the experience of drinking the wine. Winemaking had its origins in France and war almost wiped out the knowledge of wine-making. The monks who cultivated the vineyards and stored the wine in the cellars under the monasteries kept the wine making craft alive. For a long time after, the wines from monasteries were considered of superior quality and commanded better prices. A good wine club is an excellent way to acquire and appreciate wine.<bio>James Copper is a writer for http://www.cecwine.co.uk</bio>

Stroll along the roads of Montefalco with a wine walking tour to visit the many wine cellars of the area and experience their superb wines, walk through the vineyards, and soak up the beauty that only this region of Italy has to offer.

Many other festive events all centered on the grape harvest and the delectable grape products including wine can be found throughout Montefalco.

You will enjoy the opening ceremony, which will introduce not only the beginning of the festival but also the delectable wine of the year. Then you will be able to join the wine walking tour through a tree lined avenue and participate in a delightful meal at Jeunes Restaurant with of course an exquisite glass of vintage Sagrantino wine.

Throughout the entire festival, you will enjoy learning about the history local wine production including the way in which they create these exquisite raisin wines.

Every day holds a new tour and a walk down an ancient path to a beautiful vineyard and awesome wine cellar. You will love taking the guided tours or venture off on your own to discover the countryside, the vineyards, and savor the delightful wines of the region. Many of the tours give you a chance to step back into history not only through the beauty and architectural design of the medieval churches but also through the adventure of tasting vintage wines of the past. <bio>Information about the Wines of Montefalco http://www.tuttomontefalco.it/eng/montefalco-wine/wines-montefalco.php and Montefalco href=http://www.tuttomontefalco.it/eng/index.php http://www.bed-and-breakfast-in-umbria.it/eng/montefalco/montefalco.aspx Tourism Montefalco </bio>

So you've decided to take a large step, and move from wine lover to wine connoisseur. You are going to buy a wine cellar. This guide will give you all the information you need to make this purchase.

Wine Bottle Storage

The ideal location for storing wine is a dark, draftless area that stays at a constant 50-60 degrees, with 60-70 percent humidity. The bottles should be kept on their sides to keep the corks moist, and should be exposed to limited vibrations. This will ensure that you will be able to keep bottles at their best for years to come.

One thing to consider if you decide to purchase a large wine cellar: make sure the unit will fit! This sounds obvious, but many times stand-alone wine cellars are much wider than a standard door. Another thing to think about is weight. Consider not only the weight of the storage unit, but be sure to calculate 3 pounds each for a standard bottle of wine. You might not want to store your wine upstairs. This is another reason that wine is typically stored in a cellar.

Types of Wine Cellars

If you are lucky enough to live in a house, maybe you can use the existing cellar or a spare room, or have one built. Just be sure not to skimp on building materials - it would be silly to have 400 bottles of wine crashing to the floor because you wanted to save a few bucks on thinner wood. Also, be sure the condensation will be able to evaporate; otherwise, the humidity will increase beyond ideal levels. Consider the cellar as an investment.

If you don't have a large amount of space, you can buy a freestanding wine cellar. While not actually a cellar in the traditional sense, these are large units that can be stored in a house or apartment. They are available commercially for a wide variety of prices. Always consider where you are going to be storing the wine. If it will be kept in your home, you will not need to have as much insulation or as strong of a cooling unit, but a unit kept in the garage will have to be much higher quality.

Building Your Own Wine Cellar

The best location for the cellar is below the level of the house. If your basement has outside walls, keep in mind that north-facing walls will get the least amount of light. Some smaller crawl spaces may not work very well if they experience extreme changes in temperature. The same goes for a garage. The first floor of the house can also be used, and as long as the house stays at a fairly constant room temperature, the cooling unit will not have to work too hard.

Framing

The first step in building a wine cellar is the framing. The outer walls of the basement or room should be framed with 2andquot; by 6andquot; wood studs. If the floors are cold, use 2andquot; by 4andquot; studs.

Insulation

The next step in the creation of a wine cellar is insulation. The room needs to be kept at the most constant temperature possible. The best type to use is sprayed 2 pound polyurethane, although less expensive methods can used, especially if the cellar is on the first floor of the house. Once again, consider the cellar to be an investment.

Doors

Don't forget about the door! It needs to have weather stripping and also be insulated. Otherwise all the work done to insulate the walls will be wasted.

Drywall

To finish the walls, use a drywall that is resistant to moisture. Other wall material can be used, but make sure that it will not soak up moisture and that it will not impart an odor on the wine.

Racks

Don't leave the design of the racks until the end. Start first with this design to make sure that you have enough space for the number of bottles you'd like to store. A good place to start would be to look at the smaller racks available at your local wine store. These will give you ideas on the design you would like. Once again, make sure the construction is sturdy enough for the weight of the wine.

Temperature and Humidity and Wine

As mentioned before, the ideal temperature for wine is between 50 and 60 degrees. If the temperature is too high, it will spoil quickly. If it is too low, it will not age properly. If the temperature changes often, the cork will expand and contract. This may lead to air getting into the wine. Keeping this in mind, never buy wine chilled at a store, as you have no idea how long it has been that way. Also, don't keep wine in your own refrigerator for more than 1 or 2 days.

Humidity can also damage wine. If the humidity is too low, the cork can dry out. While a tipped bottle will keep one side moist, the rest of the cork can become cracked and brittle.

Also, ensure the wine will be kept in a dark place, away from vibrations. Colored bottles help keep the light out to some extent, but don't rely on the bottle to keep the light out. Movement may cause the bottles to shift. Wine needs to stay in contact with the cork so it will not dry out and crack, so limit the movement the bottles are exposed to.

Wine Cellar Cooling Units

After you cellar is complete, you can purchase a commercial wine cooling unit. Many of these work similarly to a window AC unit. They vent through a wall rather than being installed in the ceiling. However, if you are below ground or for some other reason cannot use a window unit, there are commercial units that can be installed. These are slightly more costly, but work well in those situations.

Every wine has an ideal aging time. If your wine cellar is built properly, it will keep your wine for years to come. <bio>Jason Connors is a successful writer and wine connoisseur providing valuable tips and advice on wine cellar design, wine making, and wine basics. http://www.about-wine.net </bio>

Entertaining is something that almost all adults have to do at one point or another. Some of us enjoy it while others feel it is a chore. We all want to be great hosts, whether it is for a dinner with friends or a party or a meal with a client or the boss. Preparation is the key to entertaining like a host extraordinaire. You need to pay attention to details and make it an event to remember for everyone who attends.

Select the Details to Match the Event

You need to make sure that the details of your event match the type of event you are planning. If you are planning a wedding with 200 guests, chances are you will not want to have it at your home. If you are planning a party to celebrate something important, you would be amiss to not include champagne. If you are planning a tailgating party, it is not the time for food that requires fork and knife. You need to carefully choose the location, the drinks, the food, the décor, the guest list and all the other details in between.

Plan to Have More than Enough

No matter what you plan to serve for food and drinks, make sure that you have more than enough for all your guests. If you are only serving beer and wine, buy enough beer for everyone to drink only beer or enough wine for everyone to drink only wine. You never know what your guests may choose to enjoy, so it's better to be prepared. Nothing looks less pulled together than an event that runs out of food or drink.

Keep it Simple

If you are planning a formal dinner, you may only want to serve wine to keep things simple. A nice before dinner glass of wine can be followed by wine on the table that pairs well with the main meal. But again, keep it simple by offering 1 red and 1 white. Sometimes too many choices are overwhelming. Add a dessert wine to finish the meal.

If you are having friends in for a more casual affair a choice of a mixed cocktail or a nice glass of wine is just perfect. This gives your guests the chance to try something new or go with a sure thing. Be sure to have a couple of different wines on hand to account for different tastes.

Have the Necessary Tools

It is important to make sure that you have the tools you need to ensure your event goes smoothly. Have a wine opener on hand that is quick and easy to use. Make sure you have stemmed wineglasses if you are serving wine. Have ice on hand to chill white wine, beer or other drinks that need to be served cold. If you want a casual outdoor event, get a supply of disposable dishes and put out garbage cans on the edge of the action. Make a list ahead of time envisioning the party and you will have it all under control.

Entertaining like Martha is a simple matter of preparation and attention to detail. When you know what kind of party, what you are serving for food and drink and the tone you are going for, the hard part is done. The rest is simply making sure it gets done. Then relax and enjoy your event with your guests!<bio>To Find more about wine gift and wine accessories.
Make the most of your next wine country trip. Wine has been a big part of a lot of different cultures for many many years. You might not think it so =96 to you wine is probably just be something you drink with dinner, and your knowledge of what constitutes a good wine might simply be limited to what tastes good with whatever food you have prepared. However, there are many people who have made wine into their entire lives, and wine is very important to many countries =96 in culture, in life in general, and in people's minds as a staple of their lives. This is part of what makes wine tasting trip so fun, and so interesting. However, there is much more to going on wine country tours than simply sipping on wine in different vineyards. Wine country tours can be the most interesting, enlightening, and fun times you can ever have.

What Are They About?

You might be thinking what wine country tours are all about. First of all, yes, the wine tasting part is included in wine country tours. You'll visit the different wineries that are located in the area you are touring, and get to sample the different great wines that they sell at these wineries. However, wine country tours are about much more than simply drinking fine wines.

Firstly, most wine country tours include tours of the grounds where the grapes are grown that make the wine. Most people who enjoy wine don't really understand where it comes from or what makes it so special, so on wine country tours you'll have a chance to really dig down deep into the details and begin to learn more about what makes the wine so great, because you'll be learning about the grapes that are grown.

Next, you'll be able to tour the places where the wine is actually make. This is often the best part of wine country tours because there aren't too many people in the world who know how wine is made and who can tell you the exact process behind it. On wine country tours you'll be able to see this first hand, and the next time you take a drink of wine you'll be able to think about exactly how the wine came into being.

Often, however, the best part of wine country tours remains still the tasting of the wine. This, of course, is something that you can experience for yourself, and that you can remember always. You can also, if you're lucky, take some wine home to share with your loved ones! <bio>Tango Pang is an authority in the Wine Making field. Wine making can be fun.
Aside from the brief mention here and there with regards to the Wine Bug or Bugus Erectus, very little mention has been made as to how versatile a wine holder or wine caddy really can be! At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, I would like to point out why I love wine holders and wine caddies.

A wine holder is a great way to display that single bottle of wine that you want to set apart from the rest of your collection. Maybe you have a bottle of wine that you bought while on your honeymoon in France, or maybe it's just a bottle from the market, which you think is fabulous, either way wine bottle holders are a better option to simply standing it on the counter. We all know that bottles should not be stood up because the cork can dry out and spoil the wine, so not only does a wine holder display you favourite bottle, but it also does this the correct way!

Some wine holders also double as a wine server, which makes it even more appealing. Aside from just showing off a bottle of wine, wine servers also are a great way to serve that Chardonnay or Merlot at a dinner party. From traditional to a little more eccentric, wine servers are always a conversation piece as well as a fantastic method for displaying and serving wine.

How often have you been invited to dinner and showed up with a bottle of wine in a plastic supermarket shopping bag or a brown paper sack from the liquor store? I know I have done it many times, and always feel a little awkward showing up at a nice dinner with the bottle in a brown bag that makes you look like a bum. Enter the wine caddy! Able to hold from one bottle to a few, a wine caddy is, in my humble opinion, a much better way of transporting wine. Some even hold wine glasses, which is perfect if you are looking to have a lovely picnic in the park (be aware of public drinking laws before doing this, while it might be acceptable in some places, others you could get arrested).

So this is why I love the wine caddy and the wine holder! So many styles and so many uses, I only wish I had written about them sooner! <bio>Ken Finnigan is the CEO of http://www.finestwineracks.com a website specializing in quality decorative wine racks and durable wine storage systems. </bio>

There are several ways that you can store wine but without doubt the best and easiest for most people is in a wine rack. It's the best way to ensure that your wine is safe when stored -- even for a short period of time. Of course you must always ensure that your stored wine has the right conditions in order to mature properly, and these include the right temperature, light condition, humidity, and movement.

Remember the most important factor when choosing a wine rack : you need one that will store your wine properly. It can be the most beautiful looking system in the world but unless it stores the wine in the right conditions it is useless.

There are an increasing number of styles to choose from such as wall mounts, side mounts and stack systems plus each of these come in many different sizes starting from as few as three bottles (though I believe there are some racks built to showcase a single bottle of very special wine) right up to literally hundreds.

Just remember that the perfect rack for you depends on your individual needs and your available space so don't be seduced by the latest design that looks great but in reality is incorrectly shaped for your cellar or kitchen.

Horizontal wine racks are still among the best choice for most people. Despite all the fuss about vertical racks they really aren't a good choice for storing wine - and there is a very good reason why.

Quite simply in vertical racks the bottle itself is stored vertically which means that over time the cork will dry out and start to shrink and this brings air into the wine which ruins it. Alternatively vertical racks are fine for storing wines for short time periods but if you are laying a bottle down for more than a month or so then you really need a horizontal system.

As with vertical racks there are good reasons to also avoid tilted racks. As well as drying out the corks they can also lead to the sediment being deposited too close to the cork -- another good reason for recommending horizontal racks. With horizontal racks the sediment will fall towards the side of the bottle, preventing any spillage when you pop the cork. Furthermore don't forget you can also add more racks to a horizontal system and grow along with your collection without any problems.

The two main materials used for wine racks are wood or metal. Metal racks are the strongest while wood is a bit more flexible and some people also think wood is more visually pleasing and a bit more durable. And no matter what material you go with you have a choice of placements with your racks -- you can mount them on a wall, hang them from the ceiling or simply place them on the floor.

A wine rack or storage system is a great investment for anyone who really enjoys and appreciates everyday bottles of wine as well as fine wines. Nowadays they are relatively cheap and come in various sizes to suit all kitchens and cellars, both for domestic and commercial use.

A good rack can keep your wine stored in tip top condition for years to come but just make sure the conditions in the storage room are also correct so you are able to enjoy that special bottle when the time comes to finally open it. <bio>Fraser Neilson is webmaster at http://www.FairWine.com and a graduate of the Wines and Spirits Education Trust. Increasingly, given the rising number of wine aficionados around the world, a residential wine cellar is gaining ground as a status symbol for both the mature connoisseur as well as the entry-level enthusiast, but its utility extends far beyond that.

Essentially, a wine cellar is a storage space that protects wine from potentially damaging external influences. Because wine is a natural, perishable food product, it is vulnerable to exposure mainly from heat, light, and humidity. However, if stored properly, wines not only retain their quality, but also improve with regard to aroma, flavor, and richness as they mature.

Building your own wine cellar Before you begin, remember that the ideal wine cellar must provide constant temperature, humidity, and darkness. Add to that well-ventilated and clean surroundings, and your favorite Chardonnay and Cabernet are in good hands. So what are the basic steps to keep in mind?

- The more you research, the better your chances of building the perfect wine cellar. The Internet offers a vast number of sites that offer wine cellar kits. Prices for these kits may range from USD 2000 to about 4000, but that's a slightly conservative estimate, and process can increase depending on the quality of your wine cellar racks. Bottom line: don't scrimp on costs because ultimately, your expensive wines will suffer.

- Depending on the size of your house, you may choose to place your wine cellar below or above ground. Obviously, those with larger houses can accommodate wine cellars above ground, but the basement is the safest bet because it will support the combined weight of the cooler and the racks.

- Your area selected, begin work on insulation. All inner walls must have at least R-11 insulation while outer walls and the ceiling must have at least R-19. If you choose the basement, a vapor barrier with a concrete sealant over it will be adequate for the floor. The vapor barrier =96 usually a 6mm polyethylene plastic sheet =96 should face outward (the `warm' side of the cellar), as opposed to the `cold' side. This is something you have to be careful of: if the sheeting faces inward, damp will set in and damage the walls.

- Next, install a door. The ideal door must be solid, windowless, and insulated =96 NOT wooden, because they are not adequately insulated. Also ensure that the weather stripping is adequate and the door is airtight.

- A very important step is to place the cooler, which is ideally placed at the back of the area for aesthetic purposes! Typically, the cooler should be placed between crosswise boards about 6 inches down from the ceiling.

- Finally, finish the walls and lights. Use a drywall to finish off the walls and cover up with durable strip paneling. When installing the lights, avoid recessed lights because they make the cellar less than airtight. Aim for simplicity and you'll be ok. But remember, light switches are best placed outside, or else they get in the way of your wine racks. <bio>For more wine tips and top of the line wine accessories visit the best http://www.thewinestandard.com wine gift store on the web, The Wine Standard.
