Wifi is an internet technology which allows you to access the internet within a local area without the need to physically connect your computer to a computer network, instead a wireless broadband signal is sent around the local area allowing computer users to connect to the internet in that area wirelessly. In case you were wondering Wifi stands for Wireless Fidelity and Wifi hotspots are public areas where you can access one of these wireless broadband signals. Public places where you can find Wifi hotspots these days are hotels, airports, restaurants, cafes, bars and railway stations. All this means you can travel around pretty much anywhere in the world and find Wifi hotspots from which you can wirelessly and easily access the internet, meaning you can keep up to date with your emails, surf the internet and do all the other useful things you do on the internet whilst on your travels. This technology is particularly good for business users who can gain extra work time by squeezing in internet time at various Wifi hotspots.

What Do I Need To Use My Computer In A Wifi Hotspot?

Well first of all you will need a wirelesss LAN network card installed in your laptop. This can be bought in your local computer store or in an online computer store and is not very expensive to buy. The other thing you will need is an account with a Wifi internet access provider so that you can connect to the net when in a Wifi hotspot. One thing to note is that there are several different Wifi internet access providers and that not all Wifi hotspots can be accessed by all the different Wifi internet access providers networks. This means that if you want to have maximum choice of Wifi hotspots to use, then it is a good idea to sign up with more than one Wifi internet access provider. The other thing you need to know is that most Wifi service providers charge you an hourly fee for using their service. These charges can add up, so if you are a regular or heavy user then it might work out cheaper for you to sign up for a monthly service plan which some providers offer and this could save you a lot of money as you will be paying a fixed monthly fee regardless of the amount of time you access the internet through Wifi hotspots. <bio>Miguel Poza runs a website about broadband and broadband service providers with many reviews of UK and US broadband services, a guide to broadband technology and links to cool broadband content.
When choosing what sorts of items to use in your business promotions, one of the primary considerations is whether the item you are giving away is useful to the person who is getting it. You want your item to be in the client's hand and in his field of vision as often as possible. Your logo and your contact information should be associated with products that are up-to-date, helpful, and useful.

This is why more and more businesses are turning to promotional items that are connected to computer use. Almost every business and every potential customer is connected to computers in some way, and any promotional product that makes that connection easier and more efficient is a good choice of product.

One such promotional item is a wifi detector. For those who require a wireless connection for their laptops or other equipment, wifi detectors help them to discern where they can find an adequately strong signal to use them. Wifi detectors come in many convenient types, many of which can detect a signal of up to 150 meters away.

Pens

There are several kinds of pens that can double as wifi detectors. This extra degree of usefulness helps keep your brand in the customer's view in many different situations.

Flashlights

You can buy small flashlights with wifi detectors on them. These can double as an emergency tool and a wireless signal detector, serving your customer well in both ordinary and extraordinary circumstances.

Flash drives

Both flash drives and wifi detectors are commonly used computer accessories. It's especially handy to keep these things together, since the customer might use them both at the same time.

Camera

Some wifi detectors are built into small digital cameras. Your clients can take pictures, then when they use the wifi detector to find a place where they can get on line, they can upload and send those pictures.

Key chains

The obvious benefit of having a wifi detector on a keychain is that your client will always know where to find it. Another benefit is that your clients will draw out their keys several times a day, and your logo will be there every time they do.

WiFi detectors

Some wifi detectors do not serve a secondary function; they are simply small, pocket sized devices, imprinted with your logo, that will help people find out where they can get a wireless signal without having to take out and boot up their laptops or PDAs. Some wifi detectors are also partnered with camera detectors so that your customers will be aware of when they are being watched.

Sometimes more than one of these devices is paired with the wifi detector. You can find flash drives that are also flashlights and wifi detectors. You can find key chains that are also pens and wifi detectors. Obviously the more features an item has, the more it will cost, but it may be a small price to pay to have your brand play such a big part in a customer's daily life.<bio>Matt Franks is director of Fluid Branding, the UK's largest supplier of Promotional Wifi Detectors and other Promotional Products at www.fluidbranding.com.
A basic WiFi home network can be assembled fairly quickly. However, many homeowners aren't aware of all the options available for making their network better. The wireless network can have its capability, performance and security improved. Consider these tips for improving your wireless home network.

1. Upgrade or replace with correct hardware

In addition to the basic WiFi equipment such as the router and the wireless card, which may be upgraded with newer, faster or more compatible equipment as it comes on the market, other wireless gear such as video cameras, game adaptors and print servers are fun to consider. Do the research and get the best quality equipment for a good price.

2. Install the access point strategically

Assembly of the wireless home network can be done easily--so easily in fact that some people rush into the project only to discover that it won't work in parts of the residence. Or, perhaps the network works just great until it crashes every time a cordless telephone or microwave is activated. So non-techies are afraid to try to fix the poor performance of the network because they might make it worse. By moving the wireless router or access point to another location, many of these common WiFi networking problems will be solved.

3. Change the channel number

Another tip for improving a wireless home network is to vary the channel used. In the United States, as well as in most other nations, WiFi equipment can send signals on a variety of channels. Wireless routers usually are shipped with a default channel and many homeowners do not realize it can be changed. If the neighbor's router or other electronic equipment causes radio interference, try changing the WiFi channel.

4. Upgrade access point firmware

The built-in programmable software of the wireless router or access point is called the firmware. The factory installed firmware typically works for a time, but usually needs to be upgraded or replaced periodically to get improved performance, more reliability or security enhancements.

5. Improve strength and range of the access point

Sometimes the wireless signal of the WiFi router or access point is just not strong enough. This can be caused by distances or home construction features such as brick walls. In order to solve the problem the WiFi antenna on the router can be upgraded or a wireless repeater can be installed.

6. Improve strength and range of WiFi clients

The signal strength of WiFi clients can also be improved. When treating a WiFi client that has a short range in comparison to the other devises, you may want to choose this option. This same method can improve laptop computer's ability to connect to hotspots.

7. Improve wireless network security

Many homeowners consider their wireless network a success when basic file and Internet connection sharing are functional. However, if proper security features are not in place, the work of network setup remains unfinished.

While the basic setup and equipment of the wireless network may be perfectly satisfactory to the homeowner, part of the fun of technology is the opportunity to make good better and better best. <bio>Stephen Jones is the owner of: http://wi-Find.com - http://www.wi-find.com - global ; http://voxa.co.uk (http://www.voxa.co.uk); and </bio>

I have owned a laptop off and on for a number of years. Due to battery life and accessibility, they have just not been a cost-effective solution for work or pleasure. That is until recently.

Last fall, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop primarily for work. It has been the best computer investment I have ever made ... and I have five computers in my home (Note: I am writing this sitting in the passenger seat of our family SUV after visiting Grandma.).

This is not a commercial for Dell. This is about laptops in general and the minimum specifications you should look for if considering a purchase. Keep in mind, advances are constantly occurring and the technology here will be outdated soon. Use this guide as a minimum starting point.

To me, the biggest concern or problem with a laptop has been its portability ... portability meaning the battery is needed. You absolutely have to have a computer with Centrino™ Mobile Technology. The Centrino™ technology allows my battery to power my notebook for up to four hours! Four hours!

With four hours of computer time, you need to be able to access the Internet (Thank you Al Gore). That is where WiFi comes in. Of course you want your laptop to have the modem and cable adaptors, for online hookup, but it would be an absolute crime if you didn't get WiFi capability. WiFi is nothing more than having a wireless Internet connection, thus no cables or plugs for the laptop.

Third, you want to have as light weight of a laptop as you can without sacrificing keyboard size. This makes it that much easier to carry around and you will find yourself carrying it around more frequently.

Fourth, you want a CD/DVD recorder on board and at least two USB ports. The CD/DVD player allows you to watch movies or backup important information. The USB ports allow you to hook up peripherals such as cameras, printers, etc.

Last, but not least, are the "other things" you need to make your laptop perform as good as its big brother. You want at least 256 RAM (I recommend 512), a 30 GB hard drive (I recommend 60 GB) and a screen and keyboard size that fits you.

Good luck! <bio>The author makes a living in the field of research and if you have found this article useful, try clicking on his specialist resource sites, http://www.reviewlaptops.info and http://www.wifi-laptops.info .
Wireless broadband access is a way to receive broadband on a computer without the need for wires. Instead a broadband wireless signal is sent around a local area using a device called a wireless broadband router which enables other computers within that area to connect to the broadband internet connection wirelessly.

What Can I Do With Wireless Broadband Access?

Well this cool innovation makes it possible for you to set up a wireless broadband connection in your home, which lets you use the internet on your laptop or a second desktop PC without the need to connect them to your main computer using wires. You would also be able to receive your wireless broadband connection in your garden and be able to move around from room to room within your house with your laptop whilst continuously connected to the net wirelessly. Once you get this handy facility you won't want to go back, its just so useful and convenient, especially to people that use their computers a lot at home.

The other great use for wireless broadband is where you can access the internet at public places such as cafes, restaurants, airports, train stations etc.. The way this works is that a business such as a cafe for example broadcasts a broadband signal in its immediate local area which you can log onto using your laptop (which needs to be equipped with a wireless network LAN card) This method of wirelessly connecting in public places is known as Wifi and the places that have these facilities are called Wifi Hotspots.

So How Do I Get Wireless Broadband Access?

To set up wireless broadband in your home, you will need to have a broadband connection already set up, you will need to buy a wireless broadband router which is the device which sends the wireless broadband signal around your home and you will need to buy a wireless network LAN card for your laptop or second PC which receives your broadband signal. Once you have the network set up, you will also have the added advantage that as your computers are networked together, you will be able to send and receive files from one computer to the other, read files off any of the computer hard drives from any computer in the network and print documents directly from any computer in the network. You will have to leave your main computer on for all of this to be possible though. However you don't need to leave your main computer on to use your broadband wirelessly around your home as the wireless broadband router will still send the broadband signal around your house even when your main computer is switched off.

If you only want to use your laptop in Wifi hotspots when you are out and about then you will only need to buy a wireless LAN card as a broadband router is not required in this case. The other thing you will need is an account with a wifi service provider to give you wifi access.

Wireless broadband routers and wireless LAN cards can be bought in most offline computer stores or you can buy them online too. <bio>Miguel Poza runs a website about broadband andamp; broadband service providers with many reviews of UK and US broadband services, a guide to broadband technology, computer security and links to cool broadband content.
You might already have a laptop, or plan to buy one. Either way, you might be interested in buying accessories for your laptop. Laptop accessories can come in handy when needed, and can increase the enjoyment of your laptop experience. These accessories often can be used with most laptops for any kind and brand of laptops. Some laptop accessories may be gender orientated, but most accessories for laptops are not. This article will describe present popular accessories for laptops.

Targus Ultra Lite Notebook Case

This notebook case is a great way to provide protection for your laptop while traveling without having to pay too much money. The Targus Ultra Lite Deluxe Notebook case have plenty of pockets, features, padding, and weighs only about 2 pounds. The notebook case have extra pockets to fit other electronic devices such as PDAs, organizers, cellphones, etc. The case can carry up to the size of a 15 inched laptop.

Sony SRS-T77 Portable Speakers

The Sony SRS-T77 provides great quality sound despite its small size. The system weigh only 12-13 ounces and is about the size of two CD cases. The Sony SRS-T77 do not have a volume control button, you will have to use your laptop's volume control. The system performs best at moderate to low volume levels, but will distort at high levels. The Sony SRS77 takes 4 AA batteries or you can use the AC power adapter instead.

Sennheiser PX100 headphones

The Sennheisor PX100 provide rich sounds but is a little soft on more aggressive music and sounds. The Sennheiser PX100 makes up for this though by being able to play very loud without breaking, which is something most similarly sized headphones can not achieve. The unique flip-fold feature gives the headphone the capability of turning 90 degrees. (again something most headphones can not accomplish)

Kensington WiFi Finder

If you have wireless Internet access on your laptop, then the Kensington WiFi Finder will be extremely helpful to you. The WiFi finder can be used to search for 802.11b wireless networks. Now even though your laptop can do just fine searching for wireless Internet locations, it will create a scene walking down the street holding a laptop to search for one. The Kensington WiFi Finder is about the size of a credit card. The downside of the Wifi finder is that it will not tell you if the wireless signals is WEP encrypted. <bio>A great related article about finding cheap laptops can be read at http://ezinearticles.com/?Discount-Laptops-Guide---How-To-Find-Discount-Lap= tops-Onlineandid=685597 </bio>

Wireless data acquisition is the latest technological marvel. Tired of messy wires dangling all over your rooms? Need a tangle-free, uncomplicated way to transfer and receive data? What if your data could just magically zoom from one device to another without your even seeing it? This is just what WiFi and Bluetooth technologies do. It may surprise some of you to know that the block diagram of a wireless data acquisition system looks exactly the same as one with wires. This is because only the wired network is removed and replaced by the wireless one. Everything else remains the same. The only difference is, instead of data going over wires, it travels wirelessly.

So what makes this magic work? Usually, a wireless capable transmitter is fitted onto a transducer. This transmitter will be in sync with all the standard communication protocol. The Wifi or Bluetooth enabled transmitter may be placed within in the transducer itself. This helps the creators to get the signal over a wire less system from the transducer. Because only digital signals could be sent over such networks, using the regular WiFi or a Bluetooth is not possible under these circumstances. So these get sent as an RF signal. Before using it at the destination point, the RF signal is isolated and its value is taken.

If an analog to digital converter does the work of transmission, it is generally transferred in digital mode. Designers of the technology have realized that the standard forms of transmission carry more weight and the data they convey are easy to use. The data would then make sure that the WiFi or Bluetooth is received using a well suited design. If such is the case, it is also convenient to provide a network as these devices also come with a plug out of their Ethernet ports. This allows the device to become a part of the computer network without any hassles. An added advantage is that, the software programming used to capture the input from Ethernet ports such as these, is pretty simple to use as well.

Building your own wireless data acquisition system is pretty easy too. Just look up the relevant devices on the internet. Many websites are dedicated solely to marketing such devices. Depending upon your needs, they can create and deliver the wireless data acquisition network to you. It is better to have an entire network built on a wireless platform, than to have one on a wired platform. In the short run, the wired system may seem to make sense, because it is cheaper. But in the long run, wireless will become far less expensive, so it makes sense to invest in one. Why is the initial investment in wireless larger than a wired system? Because in one go, the company will set up the device that will never require maintenance, never need repair work and never give you complaints. A wired system is cheap to set up, but difficult to maintain. There also seems to be a reduction in the overall gain of companies in using wireless data acquisition networks.<bio>This article was written by Brian May of Small Business Local which is a performance based marketing agency that provides search engine marketing columbus ohio for it's clients.
The public email system is so polluted with email invaders -- those creatures who will stop at nothing to get into your email box with unsolicited junk, viruses and spyware -- isn't it time we got a private, regulated email system?

And what about personal privacy? Every email we send and receive these days is stored forever on many ISP servers. As an example, most free email services never delete any email, which means if someone with a subpoena wants to see what you wrote five years ago, the free public email network must cough it up.

And then there's the issue of sensitive information you need to send to another party. You shouldn't use a phone, cell phone, fax, or public email because all of those are so easy to intercept. But if you were using a private, encrypted email network, you could send sensitive information with 100% confidence.

If you're a WiFi user, you really are vulnerable. Most WiFi networks are not protected, not up-to-date, which means when you log on and start sending email, every keystroke of yours can easily be intercepted by another laptop user just yards away. However, a private, encrypted email network would save you.

Okay, enough day dreaming. There really is a private email network that offers one-to-one private and encrypted messaging and file transfers. It's about time, actually. The new private system is called "Eyes Only Email" and it's free to register. The software is also free.

Here's just one fact you should be aware of: 1 in 8 Internet users have had a major, often costly spyware problem. (Consumer Reports, State of the Net 2006, 08/06.) Spyware does not and cannot exist on Eyes Only Email, a private messaging network.

If you're unhappy with the public email network, then take yourself off the grid and go private for one-on-one communications. You'll enjoy absolute privacy, encryption, and confidence. <bio>Mr. Hart is the software engineer who designed Eyes Only Email and the network it uses. You can learn more about Eyes Only Email at http://www.EyesOnlyEmail.com and register free of charge. The software to access the network is also free to download. </bio>

VoIP has exploded in popularity over the past year and there are no signs it will be slowing down anytime in the near future.

There will be more and more VoIP companies springing up and giving your phone company and long distance carrier a run for their money. Within the United States many of the VoIP service providers work on a small either monthly or yearly fee and will give you a small box about the size of a credit card to plug into the USB port of your computer. This is the VoIP jack. Normally you are assigned a phone number that can either be your primary or a secondary line. This number is the VoIP number people can either call you at or you will be making calls from. You simply connect to the VoIP service and then make your phone calls. You do not have to sit in front of a computer. As long as that VoIP jack is connected - you can make all the long distance calls you want within the United States and Canada and talk for as long as you want. This is excellent for both individuals as well as people who work out of the home, you can save thousands of dollars in long distance and international phone charges.

Another thing to look for when you're shopping around for a VoIP service is if they are available over WiFi. This is great if you travel internationally or in areas where there are limited access phone lines. You simply use the WiFi feature on your cell phone to access the Internet, surf over to your VoIP service provider's WiFi site and make your calls.

If you have friends or family overseas that you want to keep in touch with many VoIP service providers offer the ability for you to get the VoIP jacks, have a local number assigned and then send them to your friends and relatives. They simply plug in the jack, connect to their Internet connection and using the VoIP jack, they can actually make a "local" phone call to you. This negates the international calling charges and makes it very easy to stay in touch and talk for longer than a few minutes. You can now afford to stay on the phone until your new baby niece does says something cute, your nephew can sing you the song he learned in kindergarten and it won't cost you an arm and a leg any longer to keep in touch and talk as long as you like.

Worried about static and those phone connections that sound like the other party is a tunnel shouting? Not an issue with VoIP. Rarely is there any difference between the connection you get over VoIP and your standard land line-in fact, most people report the VoIP connections are even clearer than what they are used to hearing on international phone calls placed in the traditional manner.

VoIP is gaining in popularity and is getting more easily accessible around the globe. Make those long distances seem a little closer and get the magic of VoIP working for yourself!<bio>Anthony Coleman is a researcher offering up-to-date info. on the best voip service providers. BEST VOIP SERVICE</bio>

(If you use a USB Cable, insert it into your PSP, switch your PSP, then go to Settings, and scroll down to USB Connection). After accomplishing this level go to My Computer -> Open the new Removable Disk that has become visible. Create a folder with the name "PSP", in that folder create a new folder named "PHOTO". Now take the PSP wallpapers you have decided to have on your PSP and transfer them into the "PHOTO" folder.

Second is using accessible WiFi Internet Access.
Headphones are necessity for many people. In many cases you simply cannot listen to the radio, television, or your mp3 player without headphones. However, most devices that come with headphones have head phone cords or wires. These cords and wires can be cumbersome if not annoying and restrict your freedom. The freedom you have been looking for is available through wireless headphones.

Do you prefer hearing your favorite radio program as you do your daily activities around the house or would you rather carry your iPod with you wherever you go? Do you train on a treadmill? Have you ever tried to increase your pace only to accidentally move your headphone wire sending your precious iPod player flying across the room.

One of the major features of wireless headphones is that they allow you the mobility and freedom of listening to your favorite audio gadget without being attached. Imagine going from your living room to your den without having to carry your radio. If you're looking for freedom and mobility, wireless headphones are the answer to your problem.

Do you get upset when you get tangled in your headphone wires while sitting at your chair at work? Have you ever forgotten that you wear wearing headphones only to snap the wires as you suddenly yanked them accidentally?

Another benefit of having wireless headphones is not having a cord to get tangled into knots. Remember the days when phones had cords, usually the phone cord would get tangled on a daily basis and you would have to take the time to untangle the cord. Most people got irritated with this minor hassle that they went out and bought a cordless phone when they became available. Just like cordless telephones, wireless headphones do not have cords to get tangled allowing you to move around your chair at your office at home without having to agonize about getting tangled wires or much worse tripping over the wire causing serious damage.

Would you like privacy when watching television at home in your den when people around you are speaking except your headphones isn't compatible with your television? Have you tried using headphones with your mp3 player and found out that you need a different attachment?

A third major benefit is the number of gadgets that require headphones is astonishing and manufacturers are developing new products regularly. With all these audio gadgets at our disposal it is comforting to know that wireless headphones will work with all these audio players. Having the flexibility to affix to a wide variety of electronics makes them more useful to consumers.

While there are many reasons to buy wireless headphones, these are some of the main reasons why you wireless headphones are becoming very popular. To summarize wireless headphones allow you the mobility and freedom of listening to your favorite audio gadget without being attached, there are no cords or wires to get tangled into knots, and lastly they provide the flexibility to affix to a wide variety of electronics making them even more useful for consumers.<bio>Wireless Headphones are your hassle free way to listen to your favorite music, radio program or tv show.
Since 2005, the sales of laptops have displaced those of desktop PCs in the United States.

Due a constant drop in price rapid technical improvements and the swift evolution and extension of the WAN technology, notebooks are destined to replace desktops in most areas both professionally and at home.

Laptops will account for more than half of the worldwide PC shipments by 2011, according to a new report by IDC.

According to the Gartner Group, worldwide some 257.1 million PCs will ship this year, and 60 percent of them will be desktops. PC growth for 2007 should be around 7% while laptops will grow by 18.6% and will continue to maintain a double digit growth at least until 2010. Desktop sales are still strong in the EMEA and Latin America with about 60% of all shipments.

In more mature markets notebooks have taken over and continue to grow at a much faster pace. This would hardly shocking news.

Notebooks take up much less space than desktops, they're portable, and given their relatively low cost compared to a few years ago, you can just buy a new one when you decide you want to upgrade.

Specific reasons of the evolution from desktop to laptop:

- Price: While laptops are still more expensive than desktops for the same power/capacity, the gap is constantly narrowing. In 2000 you could expect to pay almost double for a laptop comparable to average desktop priced around $1,000. In 2007, you can expect a $300 to $500 difference depending on brands.

- Power: The same applies here. Even in the early 2000s, any heavy database user or serious gamer would not hesitate one second in between a desktop or a laptop. While there is still an advantage for desktop, this barrier has come down drastically; in fact many IT departments have migrated to laptops and only the most serious queries are run on servers. The same applies to gamers where only the most demanding games need to be run on the most advanced desktop. For the average user using office and going online the desktop have no specific advantages

- WiFi/Portability: The explosion of wifi spots is a decisive factor that explains the migration to laptops. Years ago, laptops where generally used because you could take them with you when traveling, nowadays in many areas you can work while traveling (airports, trains, restaurants, coffee shops=85) are among the location where you can actually go online at a very comfortable speed. You can even use such tool as Skype with a wireless laptop and have video conference anywhere you have WiFi access.

In addition, laptops are continually getting lighter and screen sizes bigger. Most new laptops come with 17 inch screens and weigh under 7 pounds. Those with 15 inch monitors generally weigh under 5 pounds. You can buy them new starting below $400=85

The desktop will not go away anytime soon, they will slowly evolve in a different market demand such as Media PC environment (TV tuner, DVR, radio, music) for the home or used as back up device for your laptop. Chances are that when it is time to replace your DVD player you will may buy a PC and you will also get use to download TV shows on your computer and watch them on your TV.

What's next for laptops?

- On one hand they will continue to improve in the traditional "way" catching up with the desktops in term of power and capacity and slowly replacing desktop for most needs.

- Another aspect is the extra portability evolution already underway with mini laptops, palmtops, tablet PCs and touch screen laptops. Combining extreme portability and WiFi, these mini laptops will replace gradually paper and pads, order sheets, notebooks and others... As you write or type any information on your mini laptop (orders, notes, drawings, questionnaires=85.) you have the ability to immediately save, sync or communicate the results. <bio>Christophe Catesson - Communication Manager for http://www.bestlaptopsreviews.com.
Zune Reviews

Microsoft has joined the portable multimedia player bandwagon by releasing the Zune player. Not surprisingly, it has since been the subject of mixed reviews. The Zune reviews flooding the Internet and print media have bordered on gushing to downright scathing. Indeed, it's enough to confuse and overwhelm the average consumer. But how do you know if the Zune is as good - or as bad - as they say?

The Pros

A Washington Post Zune review by journalist Rob Pegoraro declared that the Zune is "more pleasant to use than other iPod rivals." Understandably so. The Zune player boasts of crystal clear audio, fantastic QVGA video display, FM radio, up to 80GB capacity, track sharing, and =96 dig this =96 cutting-edge Wifi, the singular, defining feature that even the most scathing Zune reviews can't complain about.

In one of the more positive Zune reviews available, Jason Cross of Fox News wrote that asthetically, the Zune "looks and feels great." It's soft finish makes you want to touch it and doesn't get as "fingerprint-ridden" as the iPod. It's easy to hold and control with just one hand.

With over six million =96 and counting =96 music files available, Zune music reviews have been kind, to say the least. The sound quality is superb, and Cross swears that the sound is "slightly cleaner than the output from the latest iPods."

Zune movie reviews have also been promising. Though it's the same resolution as the iPod (320x240), it's half an inch bigger (a full 3 inches, instead of the iPod's 2.5 inches) and is bright, sharp, and beautiful. Furthermore, it turns 90 degrees, which makes a big difference. By turning the Zune sideways, you get a 20 per cent bigger screen size, making videos and photos far more watchable.

Zune download reviews are raving about its Wifi capability. Engaging in Wifi allows you to transfer and receive music and pictures to and from other Zune players within a 30-foot radius. A song can be transferred in 15 seconds and can be played 3 times in 3 days before being prompted to purchase it from the Zune Marketplace. Cutting-edge Zune-compatible software from Zune Empire is also available to maximize your Zune experience.

The Cons

On the other side of the fence, Zune reviews have been less than enthusiastic. It has been unkindly labeled as Microsoft's not-to-be-outdone, "me-too!" portable multimedia player. It is also noticeably bigger than the iPod and earlier Zune reviews accused it of being heavier. However, it has since been found that though a little taller, it weighs roughly the same as an 80GB iPod.

A product review could make or break anything, whether it's a person or a product. But as the recipient of mixed Zune reviews, the Zune player is neither made nor broken =96 yet. Indeed, though there was an onslaught of negative Zune reviews at the beginning, more and more positive ones are being made everyday. It was apparent that the initial Zune reviews were rushed and hell-bent on proving how it doesn't measure up to the iPod. Fortunately, the tide is turning. At the end of the day, the best Zune reviews still come from you. <bio>Whether you're looking for Zune reviews or information on downloading movies and music Zune http://Empire.net is the place to search. They have put together a Zune resoure that cuts through the garbage circulating the internet to bring you the information you need.
There has been a long standing debate as to whether Mac laptops are better than PCs. Owners of Mac laptops say yes. Many owners of other brands hate Mac laptops and vehemently say no. Let's compare the Apple powerbook to other brands based on a set of features.

Processors:

Powerbooks are now capable of using the same Intel processors as other laptops, so processor speed isn't really an issue anymore.

Operating system:

This is probably the area with the most intense debates. The Mac OS X utilized in powerbooks uses a Unix platform to drive it's system. Many programmers believe that this gives the powerbook an edge as it is a superior system, since it can handle a large number of applications running at once.

Software:

It's true that much of the software being created is geared more towards PCs than powerbooks. In terms of productivity tools, powerbooks come with a complete set of software that is comparable to the typical Windows software. You can get web browsers, email tools and even antivirus software. However, if you plan on using Mac laptops for gaming, you may run into some problems. Many of the popular games just aren't compatible with the powerbook. Even the graphics software, for which Mac laptops were famous, are now compatible with PCs.

Customization:

This may just be the area where PCs win outright. Just take a look at Dell. While you can customize your powerbook, up to a point, it's nowhere near what companies like Dell and HP are offering.

Security:

Anyone would be a bit skeptical about an operating system which prompts you to download and install security updates to fix bugs on a regular basis. Windows isn't the most secure system, as evidenced by the tens of thousand of viruses that attack it. The powerbook does have a more secure system, but there are viruses out there that attack Mac laptops, just nowhere as many.

Cost:

You only need to take a look at various company websites to know that powerbooks are more expensive than PCs. The powerbook operating system itself is cheaper so it may be an option if you're building a system yourself.

So what's the bottom line? Mac laptops ruled the roost, as it were, for many years. While the OS X operating system is still superior, PCs have come a long way in catching up. Unless you really have a strong preference, you might be better off getting a PC with a good antivirus program. <bio>Jim Grayson contributes articles on many topics.
The single most important reason anyone buys a notebook is for portability. This is something that you can take anywhere. If you frequently travel in your work, you need a notebook. If you are a student going back and forth to the university, you need a notebook. If you are journalist traveling the world and submitting articles, you need a notebook. And today's notebooks can be as powerful as most desktops with dual processors, large capacity internal drives, and other attractive features. But which one is right for you? How do you determine what type of notebook will fit your current needs plus allow you to expand for the future?

And the first part of the answer to the question of which one is right for you leads to a half-answer: "It depends." It depends on what you are going to do with the computer. Are you going to use it for work or recreation? Is it something needed for your profession or are you a hobbyist? Do you play a lot of games? What level of internet access do you need? It is also important to remember that unlike desktop models, notebook computers cannot be upgraded easily. In fact, they usually have no upgrade path so you should take the time to get exactly what you need in terms of features and performance.

One characteristic of a notebook computer one should consider is the screen size. If you need to be able to have a lot of landscape for projects you are working on then consider a wider screen. Screen sizes usually can range from 10.4 inches to 17.1 inches. If you do a lot of work on an airliner in economy class, you are probably better off with a smaller screen size (because of the reclining seatbacks in front of you). Also a smaller notebook is just easier and lighter to carry around. Some who do presentations with their notebook computers will benefit from larger screen sizes such as those that use the newer WXGA technology. WXGA notebook screens can achieve resolutions up to 1366 by 768 pixels.

Battery life in your notebook computer is very important too. If you move around quite a bit, you might want to consider buying a notebook with not only a long lasting battery (most go 2-3 hours), but also one where buying a spare battery is not very expensive. One very inexpensive solution for the battery problem is to buy an external universal battery that can last up to 3-4 hours.

Another feature you need to consider when buying a notebook is internet connectivity. You will find that a popular way for people to work these days is with a wifi-enabled notebook at a wireless hotspot (such as in coffee shops, restaurants, libraries and airports). If you are buying an older used notebook, you may have to get an additional wifi-card if you want to have the mobile connectivity provided by this technology. Also, you will find that most hotels nowadays offer high-speed internet access but it is usually through a wifi connection.

And lastly, you need to consider what other options you want for your notebook computer. Do you want a CD writer or will you need to record DVDs? Do you need premium sound? How large of a disk drive do you need? When it comes to disk space, CD/DVD writers, sound cards, memory, and processor speed, it's best to get it now as opposed to get it later. Here's why: The upgrade path for most laptops and notebooks is not very long. This is because notebooks are probably replaced every 2-3 years. They are quick becoming just as expendable as a set of tires for your car. And if you do not maximize on memory and processor speed, your notebook may not able run efficiently the new application and game software. The more your notebook is adaptable to software upgrades, the longer it will be an effective tool for you. <bio>This article can also be accessed in portuguese language from the News Article section of page http://www.polomercantil.com.br/notebook.php Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for http://www.polomercantil.com.br </bio>

Have you ever tried watching cable TV on your PC? Well, you might not have realized it yet, but the whole experience is not just amazing, but it's habit changing as well. But there are no worries, because it actually changes things for the better. Here are a few things that you might not have realized about cable TV on your computer and how it can change your life.

Saving Dollars

The one thing about cable TV is that it has become a necessity and many people are willing to spend as much money as they can just to stay connected to television. Why? Because people want to stay updated with all the latest events and also want to be entertained when there is nothing else to do around the house. But maintaining a cable service can also be very expensive.

The one thing that can become quite the monthly hassle is cable fees. Americans from all around the nation pay many dollars just to watch cable television. But with cable TV on your PC, this is something that has changed. For a one time fee and installation setup, you can enjoy television on your computer for the rest of your life and you won't need to spend a single sent on a monthly basis just to enjoy your favorite channels.

The World At Your Fingertips

You know how television has changed the world because it connects you to what happens all around the world? This can't be any truer with the new cable television technology for the computer. You not only get to enjoy a lot of channels from around the US. You can also enjoy channels from all the continents from various nations. How many channels does that add up to? Well for this technology you can enjoy up to 3000 channels! Now when you access television programs on your PC or laptop, you are truly enjoying the world at your fingertips.

TV On The Go

The one thing you can't do with a television set is carry it around while watching. Sure you can pick up a portable television but you won't enjoy cable channels on it anymore.
The question on many laptop-toting individuals is "Can I watch TV on the computer?" Technology has taken great leaps and bounds, sometimes even more ahead than we have ever mentioned. Gone are the days that we thought television would be the final and only way to broadcast programs and news casts. These days, it's all about satellite television that streams straight into laptops and computers.

How Is It Better Than TV?

You might be thinking that there is nothing quite like watching TV. Then again, there is nothing quite like surfing the Internet either. But imagine watching television and surfing on the Internet but doing it all on the same platform. Now that is a neat idea. Not only can you watch television on the PC but you can do it while working. This is actually very convenient for people who would like to keep up with the latest news from around the world while working. Satellite television straight to your laptop or your computer is also much better because you are no longer restricted to the limited number of channels that cable TV providers offer you. One can have access to 3000 channels from around the world.

The Price Is Right

Now, you may be enjoying all your television broadcasts on your cable service for a monthly fee. But if you switch to the satellite television on your PC as a solution, it is definitely going to save you more money than you ever dreamed of. Think about it. Sometimes it's those monthly cable bills that eat up a little more money than you'd like to spend. Satellite TV on your PC solves this problem by offering you software that you can install onto your TV for a one-time, very low price. You can then start enjoying 3000 channels of programming from all around the world and you won't have to pay a single cent ever. No more monthly bills to worry about, just pure access to all the news and entertainment you can handle. It's better than free because it's unlimited!

Can I Watch TV On The Computer Anywhere?

Remember that all you need to have in order for this to work is a computer, or a laptop and reasonable Internet access. Of course, having broadband will definitely make the experience much more enjoyable. The point is that is all you need aside from the software that you can buy at a very minimal price. You don't need any satellite dishes or any special peripherals for your computer. What this means is if you install this into your laptop, you can enjoy television anywhere you can hook up to the Internet. Imagine watching television at all your favorite WIFI hotspots with friends or co-workers. There are even some parks that have free WIFI (depending on the city) so you can also sit in the park and still enjoy watching television.

It may seem that this is all too good to be true. But the truth is that this service does exist and it has been seven years in the making. Programming experts and technicians alike now have an easy-to-use solution for you to be able to enjoy television virtually for free. So if anybody ever asks you, "Can I watch TV on the computer?", a simpler answer would be, "Why Not?"<bio>Enjoy live tv viewing anywhere.
Wireless Internet technology, also known as WiFi, is really taking over the way people access the Internet and it has become widely popular in a very short time. The reason for this is it allows individuals to access the Internet via a network hot spot without the use of cables or wires. The signal is simply transferred through radio signals, which makes connecting to the Internet via your computer in different locations very easy.

Since wireless technology makes connecting to the Internet as simple as possible, many businesses, universities, hotels, cafes, schools, airports and homes are realizing the importance of offering easy Internet connections to both students and professionals. Generally, hotspots are offered to patrons at a reasonable hourly rate or either free, depending on where the hot spot is and who the target market is.

The one disadvantage these businesses have that install wireless networks is that any user in the area of the network can log on. For those offering free service this is not big deal, but for those charging for Internet it is. There are, however, security precautions that can eliminate unauthorized users that include a virtual private network and Internet Protocol Security.

The hot spots are really catching on worldwide, so if you are traveling or even just in your city, you will notice many areas that say hot spot or Internet zone. Cafes and bookstores as well as hotels and airports are some of the more popular areas that you will see on a regular basis with hot spots. However, more and more locations are noticing the need for this service and offering it.

If wireless Internet is something you really enjoy in the real world, then you can also have it in your own private home or business. It makes working or surfing the web significantly easier for all the Internet users because you can work wherever you need or want without the hassle of a lot of wires and cables. So, if you want wireless Internet go ahead and have it installed or install it yourself because it is really effortless and takes little time.

There is some equipment you will need to get started, of which you can buy yourself or pay a technician for all of the equipment and the service of installing the wireless Internet. Basically, you need to have a high speed Internet service, a router, and then each computer that will access the network needs a wireless Internet card if you did not buy it WiFi ready.

If you want to install wireless yourself you should simply buy the recommended materials and then follow the directions. There is a lot of help online that will guide you through the process. However, if you don't feel like dealing with the headache then simply hire a technician to handle the whole process for you.

Finally, when you have wireless Internet installed in your home or office, remember that you should take some precautions to prevent your neighbors or other unauthorized users from stealing your Internet. A virtual private network or Internet Protocol Security will secure your network and allow only authorized users to connect. <bio>Robert Michael is a writer for Dvdn Wireless which is an excellent place to find wireless links, resources and articles.
