Having a goal in your life is important. Otherwise, you won't feel the need to live on.

Yet, some can't achieve the goal because of they don't know how to set it effectively and correctly.

Yes, the goal setting is as important as the achievement. You'll reach your goal a lot more easily if set it well.

Here are some important notes for you to comprehend on an effective goal setting:

• The most important thing in setting your goal is to be precise. Try to include time, date and other details to ease you in the process. Also, it helps you measure the achievement.

Write your goals down on paper so that you can avoid any confusion. It also can help you commit to your own words.

• Try to set goals over something that you will still be able to control. This can help you guide your accomplishment in the goal. Avoid anything that might have external factors that might keep you away from achieving your goal.

Try not to make goals based on a reward system. It might highly motivate you at the commencement but once you achieve these types of goals you might not feel as much personal satisfaction.

• It is extremely vital to set a realistic goal. Don't set a goal that is too high for you. You have to know your level of performance. The goal has to be set within the levels. One or two levels higher will be acceptable. But, five to ten levels higher will just end you up in desperation for not being able to achieve the goal.

• Yet, don't make it too easy when setting your goal. Low goal is easy to achieve but you won't get as much satisfaction.

The process of goal achievement should also be a process for you to be a better person, to be more self-confident. If you can achieve a big goal, it will surely raise your self-confidence level. Just get yourself be challenged by your goal.

Don't be afraid of failure. Yet don't let it get you drowned.

• Thinking through your goals before you make them. This way, you can end up making only wise goals.

You need to go through several details and factors before finally setting the goal. First, consider the other commitments that you have made, will it be keeping you away from your effort to reach your goals? Second, how much time you have to devote to achieving your goal? Do you think you have that much of time? Third, what are the skills that you need to have to help you reach the goal? Forth, think about alternative ways to achieve the goals.

If you have set the goals in a correct and effective way, you can now do all you can to make them come true. Good luck! <bio>Riana Lance has a deep concern on health.
Why do some people seem to succeed in all they do, but others flounder along at the rear? Mostly it's because the successful people have set goals and take steps to successfully achieve them. So how do they always seem to achieve their goals?

Here are five strategies they use:

1. Start with a long-term goal, write it down, taking into account when you are goin to achieve the goal and why it's important. Try and be as visual as possible, explaining how the achievement of this goal will change your life for the better. Once this long-term goal has been documented, break the goal into tangible steps that need to be taken to achieve the goal.

2. Make certain that you really want the goal. Ask yourself, "Do I really want this goal? Will this goal give me a better life?" Answering these questions will give you more drive to achieve your goal.

3. Speak up. You should not keep your goals to yourself. Sharing your goals can help you get the support you may need from others. Some people are concerned with telling others about their goals because they are worried they will fail. However, telling others means that you are more likely to achieve your goals either with their support or in-spite of them.

4. Write down your goals. This strategy is advisable for those who have a long list of goals. After writing them down, review them regularly. You may also want to keep them handy to keep you motivated.

You have to discipline yourself to stick to what you have written. Do not just write them and tuck them away somewhere 'safe'. Its better to keep them where you will see them, try sticking them to the refrigerator.

5. Stay on track and do not give up. Reviewing your goals will help open your mind to see if you are on the right track. While on track, you may have to face challenges that might change the way you see yourself.

Never be discouraged. Encountering obstacles is just a test for how dedicated one is to achieve the goals you've set. It will all boil down to you preparing yourself to face anything and doing everything to get to the goal that you have set for yourself. Only you can make it happen. Nothing can stop you if you have set your mind to it and commit to taking action. <bio>Stu Pearson has an interest in Finance, Business and Technology.
Goal setting is possibly the most important success secret you were never taught in school, yet it remains one of the most powerful tools you can use to achieve what ever you want.

With the influx of people seeking fulfilment and success in all aspects of their lives, more and more people are turning to techniques such as goal setting to facilitate their path to success. However goal setting remains one of the most underused techniques which are readily available to people from all walks of life. The problem is goal setting is not a compulsory skill taught in schools and when it is, the importance of it is often under emphasised and neglected.

Anne Sprigpitt owner of http://goal-setting-secrets.info says, "It sickens me when I hear people say 'I've never been taught how to set goals', or 'what are goals and what's the point of them'. It really is disgraceful that our children are not trained how to set achievable goals and then taught how to re-evaluate them once they've been achieved."

"Goal setting is not difficult and should be utilised by everyone from high school kids to top business executives, if people don't know what they want or where they are going, how can they expect to achieve anything other than mediocrity. The most successful people in the world know this and use goal setting techniques on a day to day basis to get what they want."

"The key point to remember when goal setting is to use the SMART acronym; goals should be Simple, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time related."

Goal setting is a straight forward task which allows you to identify what you want and how you're going to get it and provided you follow a few simple rules it could be one of the most important techniques you begin to utilise in your day to day life. <bio>For more help and advice on goal setting visit http://www.goal-setting-secrets.info and find all the tips you need on how to set goals to create easy stepping stones to get what you want. </bio>

Goals are very important in everyone's life and, as such, goal setting is equally important to helping us achieve our hopes and dreams. The most important aspect of goal setting is to make sure that the plan is a realistic one. For example, it's impossible to make it a goal to win the lottery. Why? Because gambling is a game of chance and your actions have no real impact on whether or not that particular goal is achieved. The best type of goal setting is that which is done with a certain degree of practicality.

A plan of action is the first important step toward goal setting. For instance, an individual who wishes to attend college and needs to save money can work out a budget to earn cash while attending school part time. By enrolling part time, the tuition will be less expensive and even though the degree completion process may take longer, the ultimate goal will be reached in time. This is a good example of positive goal setting.

When working out a goal setting plan, it is important to choose one that is realistic. A poor example would be saving enough to become a millionaire within a specified amount of time and no real way of coming up with the funds needed to save. There is nothing wrong with having big dreams and trying to reach impressive goals, but it is very important that they not be unattainable. If an individual were to participate in a goal setting exercise at an unrealistic level and that plan were to fail, depression would surely result. In order to avoid this negative emotional impact, practicality is the key to positive goal setting.

Once goals are set, it is important to stay focused. This means being careful with funds if the goal is one that involves finances. An example would be saving a down payment for a home and seeing a snazzy new sports car that catches the eye. An individual who stays focused on their goal of home ownership will feel much more rewarded than those who give in to the temptation of a quick purchase, which is likely to result in buyer's remorse.

Goal setting is an important part of everyday life. Whether it's a homework assignment that needs completion, a work project that has to be done by the end of the day or a financial goal that needs reaching, effective planning will help even the most challenging goal become closer to being reached. <bio>To find out more about goal setting, please visit our website at http://www.goal-setting-guide.info .
If you write your goals and just hope to magically achieve them without committing yourself to it then you are just like most people. It is common for a majority of people to get stuck in an endless cycle of goal setting and giving up right away - and not accomplishing any goals at all.

Commitment plays a large part in getting goals achieved. If you do not commit to achieving your goals, then your goals will seem unimportant and since it is not important, you will just be tempted to quit before you even get started. However, show some commitment to your goals and set daily reminders to yourself about these goals and you will be encouraged to achieve them.

It is not that hard to commit to your goals as long as you set your mind to it. Here are some doable steps:

1) Make sure the goals you set are important to you. This is tricky as it is easy to fool yourself into thinking that you want one particular thing when in reality you want something else. Take your time in figuring out what it is that your heart wants to achieve. Know your reason behind a specific goal. How will achieving the goal benefit you? How will you feel after accomplishing your goal?

It is best to write it down in a journal and keep it close by so that you can easily go back and read it as often as you need to. Writing it and reading your goals and reasons behind them over and over again will help you commit to the goal.

Don't forget to ask yourself if the benefits you will get outweigh any effort that you will go through to achieve the goal. If you believe that the benefits outweigh the sacrifices, then, go for it - work on achieving your goal.

2) Make sure to consider the "what if's". Think about the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/consequences" rel="tag">consequences if you do not continue on with achieving your goal. If the consequences are not all that grave, then perhaps you need to reconsider your goals. Make your goals top priority wherein if you don't work on achieving them, you'll be faced with an unfavorable consequence. Be creative. You can promise to give something up if you do not achieve your goal. This way, you will try your best to ensure that your goal gets accomplished.

3) Renew your commitment each day. When your goal is new and your motivation is high, it is so easy to be committed. However, you need to stay committed until your goal is achieved. Make a conscious effort to remember your goal and its importance to you each day when you wake up. That is why it helps to write your goals down in a journal so you can read it over and over and remember its importance. Make a vow to work on your goal each day until it is achieved.<bio>Being a mom is extremely rewarding, but it's challenging.
Everybody has a set goal in their minds which they want to achieve in life. It could probably be through business, a life-long pursuit or a short term goal. Whichever is the case, goals are usually what everybody would want to attain in the end of it all no matter how difficult it is going to be.

The same principle applies for insurance agents, especially the independent ones. The primary attitude of a real estate agent is to just be positive no matter what it takes to achieve ones ultimate goal. This is true since in every success comes a challenge and challenges are a good thing.

Though it may not sound good or you might even say there's nothing good at all in challenges, but for an insurance business, challenges are actually good for future expansion. The more you can conquer over negative situations, the quicker you'll get to your attained goal. You see, without setting any definite goal, success wouldn't be anywhere near.

You have to remember though that the goal you set should be attainable, timely and realistic. Certainly do not just decide on meeting up with prospects in one go or even 50 clients for that matter. There has to be a fixed goal for you, say, 10-15 clients would be enough in a day. This should already give you enough time to talk to each of them and process what they're individual needs separately.

When you have successfully done this for some time now, you can add another goal for your insurance metrics. If you think that checking on insurance updates from the internet for an hour or two everyday is going to be a plus to your insurance knowledge and skills, then do it.

You don't need to set big goals right away. What you can do is to start on taking over full responsibility of small goals at first and then when you have managed to do so, proceed to take on big goals in a larger scale. <bio>Shareen Aguilar is a writer for http://www.insuranceleadsgeneration.com which has information on generating Insurance Leads. </bio>

Some of you may think that this topic is nothing but crap. Let's face it is it hard to set goals for yourself then suddenly you will be setting goals for you and your partner which is completely absurd if you are to think about it. But is it really not possible? Think again!

It's never really too late to start setting goals. There is this famous adage that goes something like this -- It better late than never. Actually this is one of the best things about life since you are not pressured into doing things that you don't feel like doing take for instance setting goals. Nobody will pressure you, it's entirely in your own discretion whether you set a goal or not.

There are advantages when you have a goal. First of all it gives you a sense of direction. Second it gives you a sense of achievement. Third goals give you a sense of security. Fourth goals serve as a gauge of things that you want to achieve. If you want to become successful in your career, in your relationship or for short in your life you got to have a goal.

Singles Relationship Goal Setting Developing a relationship is not the hard part. It is keeping and growing the relationship that is often the hardest to achieve. You might ask, why? First of all, a relationship is compose of two distinct individuals with different breeding, attitudes, characters, morals, likes and dislikes, so forth and so on. Basing from the aforementioned we can conclude that a relationship is not an easy partnership but this should never hinder us from wanting to have a relationship.

There is really no such thing as one-size-fits-all solution. But generally the best way to having a rewarding relationship is to set goals. By setting goals you and your partner is guided into developing the relationship that you both wanted. Communication, an open-mind, love and respect are contributing factors to a successful relationship.

How to Set a Relationship Goal? It is very important for you and your partner to talk about things that you want to achieve in your relationship. However keep it mind that there should be no pressure on any of you or else your goal setting will become obligatory and often makes the relationship suffocating leading to separation. In a relationship goal setting everything should come out voluntary meaning you both do things for the relationship because you want to and not because it is an obligation. <bio>Goal setting is the foundations of a good life, learning how to set goal and reach them is a new art practiced by few and learned by many, learn how to set Personal Goal Setting and start your change today at http://goalsetting.zupatips.com </bio>

You probably have an idea of how much weight you want to lose, but have you really made a commitment? When you set a goal - and write it down - you are, in fact, taking the first step to committing yourself to achieve that goal.

There are four requirements in setting your weight loss goals:

1. Your goal must be reasonable and achievable.

2. You must set a time frame for achieving your goal.

3. What is the main reason or motivation to reach your goal?

4. What weight would you be satisfied with if you can't quite meet your initial goal?

Now, set some workable goals for the next several months. Make sure these goals are ones that you are willing and able to work toward during that time. Keep the acronym, TRIM, in mind while setting your goals. TRIM will help remind you of the four requirements mentioned above.

T: Time - An effective goal should have a deadline. Choose some date in the future. In our example we'll say three months.

R: Realistic - If you try to set a goal you can't reach, you're setting yourself up for failure. Make sure it is a goal you can reach.

I: Inspiring - Your goal should be something that really matters to you; achievable but challenging enough to make it exciting.

M: Measurable - A goal must be measurable. Otherwise, you will never know when you have reached it!

Make your goal as specific as possible. Instead of saying, andquot;I want to lose weight.andquot; say, andquot;I will lose ten pounds by September 1st.andquot;

Make a least two other goals, such as fitting into a certain pair of jeans or exercising, for a period of time besides making the goal to lose weight,. These would be andquot;subandquot; goals. So, if you don't reach your weight goal, you can still feel some success by reaching another goal. This will keep you motivated to keep trying.

For example, you could be replacing fat with muscle (which weights more than fat). You're looking and feeling better but the numbers on your scale haven't changed. You won't be disappointed about the weight on your scale because you will fit into those jeans again and you will have succeeded in reaching one of your goals!

Once you have decided on your reasonable and measurable goals, write them down. Make a contract with yourself to work toward those goals.

Why do you need a contract? Because just because you have some goals, it doesn't mean that you have committed to them. Make a promise to yourself in writing. You could even have a friend or family member witness it for you to make it more official. It will also give you extra motivation to keep the contract.

Use the TRIM method of setting goals for weight loss and you will have more success in reaching those goals than just having a vague idea of how much weight you want to lose. <bio>Jude Wright is the owner of andquot;9 Weeks to Weight Lossandquot; at http://9weekstoweightloss.com .
It's coming to the end of 2006 and the new year is coming. During the new year, many people will set their goals such as faster job promotion, a salary increase, spend more time with your family etc. While it's good to set your goals for the new year, most people never actually achieve their goals. Why?

The simple explanation for that is 2 fold. One, most people do not set clear goals and have a very vague idea of what their goals is. The second reason is most people do not take steps to achieve the goals they have set.

In a way, the second reason is dependent on your goals. If you only have a vague idea of what your goal is, then it becomes almost impossible to take steps to achieve your goals.

The following 6 key steps will help you achieve better results with your goals:

1. Set a specific goal.

Setting a goal that is specific allows you to have a clearer picture of what you want to achieve. For example instead of setting a goal of I want to be rich in 2007, set a goal that you want to earn $100,000 in 2007. I find numbers and figures when setting your goals makes it more achievable and more easily attainable.

2. Set a timeframe for your goal.

Every goal you set must have a timeline. The reason for that is so that it can be easy to assess whether you have achieved your goal and if not, the reasons why and how far off to your goals are.

Setting a timeframe also motivates you to meet the deadline and to take necessary action to meet that dateline. If you do not set a time frame to your goals, you probably end up chasing that dream for the rest of your life.

3. Set A Realistic Goal.

Your goal should be realistic and achievable in a timeframe that you set. Setting a realistic goal makes it more achievable and real rather than a fantasy. It's not a bad thing to have high goals but you may need to tweak your goals as you go along if you find that it is not realistic.

4. Chart Your Progress

It is important you establish short term goals or what I called landmark goals that determine your exact position on the goal you are setting. For example, if you aiming to earn $100,000 a year. Set a short term goal of $30,000 in march, $60,000 in june and then see if you met your short term goals.

Doing this allows you to determine whether you are exceeeding or lacking behind in your goals. Then you can take extra steps to catch up.

5. Be prepared For Obstacles

Many a times, you will be faced with obstacles along the way to your goal. It's perfectly natural and do not get discouraged or frustrated. One of the greatest achievements you can accomplished is to overcome these obstacles.

Even if you did not achieve your goals, take it as a challenge for your next goal. The point is never give up.

6. Give A Reason For Your Goals

Sometimes, setting a goal by itself is not sufficient to motivate you. Deep down inside each of us, we have a personal reason for setting that goal. For example, setting a goal of earning $100,000 a year. The reason could be so that the family can live in comfort and the children can have the toys they always wanted but couldn't have.

If you can follow these simple 6 key steps, they can give you the drive to succeed in your goals and in life as well. Goal Setting may be cliché but if you follow and take steps to achieve it, you will achieve the goals in life you wanted. <bio>Ricky Lim is the online editor of a goal setting website at http://goalsetting.selfimprovepedia.com Visit his site today for more info on business goal setting and personal goal setting. </bio>

I'm sure you, like me, are bombarded with emails, conversations and thoughts about goal setting, particularly each new year. If I had a nickel for each email I've received since Jan 1st that talked about goal setting, I'd be a rich woman! Yet, have I set my goals down on paper yet? No, I haven't. Until this week, I have been diligently trying to avoid the whole topic, no doubt because I have had limited success with achieving any goals I'd actually written down in years past.

Then recently, some information came my way that just made so much sense. It's not new information, that's for sure, but I guess my mind was just finally open to it and it sunk in. I FINALLY understand why having a "why" visibly attached to your goals is so important. And even more importantly, why your "why" must be in front of you at all times.

Here's what I learned: the reason so many people fail to achieve the goals they set for themselves is they focus too much on the process of achieving those goals, rather than their "why" for the goal itself.

For example, the #1 goal set each Jan. 1st is to lose weight. So many people seriously set this as a goal for themselves as each new year begins, yet so many never realize their goal. Why? Because they focus on the process of achieving that goal, rather than why they have the goal in the first place.

The process of losing weight is not all that glamorous, to be sure. You have to change your routines, get moving, be consistent, and be patient as you work through the process. If you decide you are going to walk briskly for 30 minutes each weekday, what happens the first day it rains?

If you are focusing on the process, your thoughts will likely sound something like, "No, I'd really rather not get soaking wet today, thank you very much."

But if you are focused on your goal of having more energy and being able to keep up with your kids or grandkids, then you'll likely be thinking, "Ok, where can I take my walk that I won't risk pneumonia in the process?"

I have resolved to only write down goals for which I have a strong "why". I encourage you to do the same. Forget what everyone else's goals are. Forget what everyone else says you should be able to accomplish. What do YOU want to accomplish, and why?

WHY?

When you figure that out, then make life easier on yourself and keep those "whys" in clear view. Focus on how you'll feel when you achieve the goal - live it NOW.

Monitor how you talk about the goal.

Concentrate on the positives of your "why", not the negatives of the process.

Tell someone else about your goal, so you have someone to go to later and say, "Please...remind me why I'm doing this again?" It can make all the difference in the world...in your world. <bio>Suzanne Bird-Harris is an accomplished coach and writer assisting women in stealing back their thunder by shortening their learning curves in life.
Successful goal selection stems from our inner perceptions and the congruence of our actions. If what we want and how we go about accomplishing our goals is incongruent, then we are likely to experience a degree of self-sabotage.

In order for success to be achieved, one's intentions and actions must be in alignment when selecting and committing to a goal. It is important to take time to consider if the results you desire will actually be processed effectively by your goal choice.

Ask yourself these 3 questions when contemplating a goal:

Do I truly WANT what I think I want?
Do I earnestly BELIEVE that I can achieve my goal?
Do I deeply feel that I DESERVE to have what I want?

It is certainly better to be clear about your answers to the above questions than to forge ahead and then have nagging doubts. Otherwise, you may become a candidate for self-sabotage. So, how do you explore your true intentions so that ultimately your actions will be in successful alignment?

The answer is to take a close look at your real intentions, your level of belief, and your feelings about deserving the outcome. Let's take a look at each of these points.

Explore your real intentions. Why are you acting on this particular goal? Is it actually your goal or the idea of another person? Is the goal 100% what you want? Taking the time to consider this fundamental step is very important and can mean the difference between success and disappointment.

Explore your level of belief. In addition to wanting the goal, do you truly believe the goal is achievable? Do you believe down deep this is important enough to you to go after it? Have you thought about the tools and resources you will need for positive action? Can you commit yourself to what is necessary to accomplish the results you want?

Explore your feelings about deserving the outcome. While this may seem strange, if you do not completely feel that you are worthy of a successful outcome, all the time and energy invested simply will not bring the goal to fruition.

If you want the goal and believe in it, but have any doubt whether you are worthy of its success, figure out why you feel this way. Most likely, when honestly addressed, you can resolve this issue and move forward.

It is absolutely wonderful when your intentions and actions are in alignment and you know that you want a goal, believe in it, and deserve it. But, unless you consciously deal with these basic elements, then it is possible to sabotage your well-intended efforts.

In summary, a well-structured goal is essential to establish a clear path to a desired outcome, but carefully selecting the right goal is perhaps even more critical. That also means that the intent of the goal and the actions to implement it must match. Pursuing a poorly conceived goal is paramount to self-sabotage. Learning to make a successful goal selection is fundamental to goal-setting.<bio>David Schaefer is a success coach and writes on the topics of personal and career development.
Recently, I have someone asking me the following question:

"I'm a happy person, but I want to achieve a lot of things like confidence in being around with people etc. If I try to achieve these other things like confidence, it will affect the happiness I'm trying to achieve. How can I involve these things into my goals and yet be happy at the same time?"

It took me a while to understand his question. (Note: I've tried to rephrase his question to make it easier for you to understand). Finally, I realize that he has a conflict between goal setting and happiness.

Then I found out that many people are having similar difficulties as well. On one hand, they are trying to keep themselves happy, one the other hand, they are trying to achieving more things. But when they fail to achieve their goals, they become unhappy.

This has inspired me to write this article.

The problem experienced by the person with this problem is his goal is adding pressure on him, such that it makes him unhappy. That's because he has defined his happiness as his goal! If he does that, he will NEVER be happy because goal is meant to be achieved, yet happy is a state of achievement. Can you see these two things are totally opposite to each other?

You can never achieve something you have not achieved! So how can you be happy?

What he has to do is to be clear of the way he define happiness and the way he define his goal.

You can read more about the right method to define your happiness at <a href="http://www.subconscious-secrets.com/define-happy.php" >http://www.subconscious-secrets.com/define-happy.php.

If he wants to achieve his goal of being confident in meeting people, he can define happiness as "talking to 1 stranger a week", but he sets his goal as talking to 3 strangers a week. If he defines his happiness and his goal that way, he will be happy if he talks to 1 stranger and very happy if he talks to 2 and extremely happy if he talks to 3!

Remember, happiness begins with how you define your happiness. If you mix up your definition of happiness with your goal, you will never be happy! <bio>Kenneth Koh is the editor of subconscious-secrets.com, a website where you can download http://www.subconscious-secrets.com and read more about the write way to http://www.subconscious-secrets.com/define-happy.php. </bio>

I am often asked if I engage in the practice of goal setting. I usually answer that I don't. I have tried that in the past and it didn't work for me.

It recently became clear to me that I do set goals, but there is a difference between what most who teach "goal setting" tell you to do and what I have found that works.

Let's cover what I found doesn't work. Here is an example of what absolutely doesn't work for me:

"I am going to lose 20 pounds by December 1st."

That's the standard way many folks teach to set goals. Why doesn't that work for me? There are a lot of reasons:

1. It puts the goal "out there"... it sets me up for procrastination. I don't worry about it until right before December 1st.

2. If I lost 15 pounds, I feel like a failure. Even though I lost 15 pounds (which should be great), I didn't meet my goal, so I failed. It discourages me from setting more goals.

3. If I lost 25 pounds, I feel like rewarding myself for doing really well... perhaps by going out to eat. It also sets me up for failure next time I set a goal. My mind remembers when I overshot my goal and how easy it was, so I don't try as hard the next time.

So what can we do instead. There are no time limits for any "goal" in my notebook. There is also no pressure. It is simply a list of things that I want to be... only it is listed in present tense. The way the above would be written in my notebook is:

"I am thin, healthy and attractive."

It doesn't have to happen by December 1st. There is no way for me to fail. That is what I want. It is what I'm going to get. By writing it down, I start my mind to working towards that goal. I also believe it notifies God (the universe, your higher power, your higher self, whatever you believe... it doesn't matter for this purpose) of my desires and He helps deliver them. It takes some of the arrogance out of the equation (that belief that I can do it myself) and at the same time takes away the self-beating (what happens when you don't meet a goal).

In the end, it frees me to give my everything to that goal without reservation. I run as fast as I can... and then I rest. I live life as hard and fast and as passionately as I can... and then I rest just as hard and passionately. There is no "reckoning" day... there is only living.

I find this method a lot more productive than the standard "goal setting" methodology. I encourage you to give it a try. <bio>James D. Brausch blogs daily about what it takes to run a successful Internet business.
Setting goals and making plans are simply a part of life. It is no secret that most aspects of our lives must have goals set and this is especially true in business. In order for a business to run smoothly and properly, it must have a set of solid goals to work towards. Setting a goal full of milestones and objectives, is an extremely crucial aspect of planning and running a business. Essentially, setting a goal can literally set your business up for success or failure.

While goal setting is an important aspect for any business, not everyone really knows how to formulate objectives and implement them for achieving the goals. A new business owner may not understand the importance of establishing solid and reachable goals for their business. Setting achievable goals gives the business something to aim for. With a target, you know better where your efforts need to go. A goal also gives a sense of direction to the management team. Knowing what the goals are and what they need to do, allowing for harmony in the office.

There are five basic rules of setting business goals. First, be very specific in your goals, right down to the most minute detail. Your objectives and goals should be extremely specific and include fractions, ratios, numbers, frequencies and percentages. Second, you should be able to measure your goals. In other words, when you set a goal, you should be able to track all actions and progress with the goals. Make sure the goals are reasonable and attainable. You should never set goals that are too far out of reach, doing so will set you up for disappointment. The goals must be realistic, but require effort on the part of your company.

You should also create goals that are relevant to your business. When creating goals, keep in mind the type of business you run and what areas you intend to implement those goals. You should also set a time limit on all goals. Look to achieve specific objectives within a specific amount of time, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, etc.

Overall, create a business goal that is solid and stick to it. Deviations from the plan, could set your company up for failure. This is why you want to follow the above steps to ensure that all of your goals are attainable. <bio>Jonathan Mayheart, with a solid knowledge of personality psychology and BioData, has published articles on goal setting, personal goal setting and business goal setting .
I'm a big reader of motivational books. I've both succeeded and failed at numerous aspects of being a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an insurance agent, a salesperson and a business owner. I have a health insurance agency in Connecticut and several websites including http://www.BadSalesLeads.com. I'm enjoying some success now but had several hurdles to overcome with each venture. Sometimes it seems that nothing comes easy in this life. Fortunately various success-oriented and self-help books have helped me trough many rough times.

One day it dawned on me that much of what I've read in these books can be found in Matthew chapter 7, verse 7. Which reads (KJV): andquot;Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto youandquot;. Asking is about goal setting. Seeking is about looking for opportunities to help you achieve your stated goal. Knocking is about taking action. Only when you have done all three can you get what you want.

Ask and it shall be given you

In order to ask, you have to know what you want. You have to define your goal. This, of course, is the starting point. How can you possibly achieve a goal that you haven't set or cannot state? Be specific. A desire to be rich is fine, but that desire does not translate easily into an action plan. andquot;I want to be rich by being the best insurance agent I can beandquot; is a better goal. andquot;I want to be rich by selling health insurance to self-employed people in Connecticutandquot; is even better. Write down your goal or goals. Putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard is better than just thinking or talking about your goals. After you've defined your goal with specificity ask through prayer.

Seek, and ye shall find

When you know what your goal is you can look for opportunities to help you achieve that goal. Seek out opportunities that will help you achieve your goal.

Knock and it shall be opened unto you

Once you've found an opportunity that will move you closer to your goal, must take action.

Asking, seeking and knocking are not interchangeable or synonymous terms. In order to achieve your significant goals you must take several steps. The first is to ask or state your goal. The second is to seek out the best opportunities to move you towards that goal. The third is to move away from the intellectual exercises of asking and seeking and start doing something concrete and tangible; knock on the door.

This article can be copied and reprinted but only in its entirety. The article was originally published on http://www.BadSalesLeads.com/articles/Goal-Achievement-According-to-Matthew.htm. The article starts with the heading andquot;Goal Achievement According to Matthewandquot; and ends with this sentence. <bio>Alston J. Balkcom has been a Connecticut insurance agent since 1985.
Have you set goals for yourself only to fail to achieve them?

You need to follow sound goal setting techniques if you want to achieve your dreams. These techniques may be based on your own understanding of various issues, or on advice given by your parents, professional counselors, and seniors. But, no matter where they come from, they can make a big difference between success and failure.

The first thing you need to do is write down your goals. Remember that until a goal is committed to paper, it is not a goal; it is simply a desire. You also need to write down the benefits that you hope to achieve.

The next step is to pick a deadline and determine your current state of preparedness to achieve the goal. You should also identify which problems you are likely to face. This will make you mentally ready to conquer them.

You need to often review your course of action. This gives you a chance to change your goals based on your revised circumstances and needs. It is also good to surround yourself with people who are positive about your approach and who will cheer you on. Keep away from those who belittle you all the time. They can do more harm than good by trying to dissuade you from achieving your goals.

Your goals must arise out of your belief in your capabilities. This is very important, because no goal can be achieved that is not based on self-confidence. Motivation is another important psychological factor. In fact, motivation and goal setting are like two sides of the same coin. Your goal cannot be achieved without both of them.

Finally, all your goals should have several short-term targets and a long-term target. The short-term targets (or sub-goals) should have deadlines, and should merge with each other in seamlessly. You should review your goals periodically and modify them when and if your needs and circumstances change. These techniques are the best way to set and achieve goals. <bio>Patricia Johnson writes for several online magazines, including http://lajop.com and http://lotuv.com </bio>

Before we go into a goal setting tool, we should explain what goal setting is. Simply put, it is just personal planning for your life. It is a map of your life, with your preferred destination, and the route you want to take to get there, drawn out by you. Most commonly, goals are career-based or financial based.

Goals come in different stages. First, a long-term goal of what you want to accomplish with your life. Then you take those goals, reduce them to smaller goals, and create steps that you will follow to achieve each one.

So how do you achieve these goals? In the journey to achieve your goals, there are many things that can detour you along the way. The normal ups and downs of everyday living or unexpected hardships are just a couple of these things.

This is where the goal setting tool comes in. A goal setting tool is something that will make it easier to stay on the road in the quest to achieve your goals. Goal setting tools are normally considered one of two types.

You have mind tools, such as motivational reading, reading of books, and researching for information that will help you achieve your goals.

The next is technical tools. These are tools such as worksheets, forms, and certain techniques such as breathing exercises, as a few examples.

By putting to use a goal setting tool, when you have a problem with reaching your goal, they will help you solve any problems much faster and easier than if you did it alone. The fact is 90 percent of people who use goal setting tools achieve their goal. Since there are different goals, there are different tools to use also.

Articles are a great goal setting tool. The reason for this is that they normally focus on a certain subject, are short, and get right to the point.

Words are a basic but powerful goal setting tool. Words are not just communicating; they can influence you or even alter your behavior and thinking. Always try to choose your words carefully. Use positive words, not only in speaking but in thought also.

Another useful goal setting tool, used in any type of relationship, is listening. Being a good listener is more than just paying attention to someone. It means paying strict attention to what the other is saying and not interrupting.

Money is an excellent goal setting tool. By using money as a goal setting tool, you are focused on the necessity of maintaining balanced goals. This leads to a more calm and content life. Using money as a goal setting tool, should not be confused with making money as a primary goal. There is an old saying that "no one on their deathbed has ever said they wish they would have spent more time making money" By using money as a tool, instead of a goal, your whole outlook on life will change.

There are many software packages out today that are being used as goal setting tools. Using software, will help you set your goals in a more organized, flexible, and planned way. It allows you to state what you want to accomplish, list all the areas in your life that you feel is important, and your expectation of each. It allows you to set up an action plan and a to do list for achieving each of your goals. The advantages are everything is in a central location, no papers to lose, and no bad penmanship to de-code. This software allows you to become your own life coach.

Ultimately, goal setting is important and goal setting tools are essential. You need to find the right tool to help you get started on the right track. You can use the more traditional routes and tools, such as speaking to others and affirmations, or inspirational quotes, just to name a few. You now also have the option to go a bit more high tech and have a software program monitoring your progress for you to see and to adjust if necessary. The choice is yours. Happy goal setting <bio>Jonathan Mayheart, with a solid knowledge of personality psychology and BioData, has published articles on goal setting, personal goal setting and business goal setting .
We all have goals. Some goals are long-term and some are short-term. Some are goals we have shelved for so long they are dusty and covered with cobwebs. Some are freshly minted. However for those of us who are not as successful in life as we would wish we often despair of achieving our goals. Some goals seem out-of-reach and unattainable. This does not have to be what actually happens. We have the power within ourselves to change our lives and the place to begin is when we are setting our goals.

There are simple rules that make it more likely for us to achieve our goals and the first is to follow the K.I.S.S. principle. In other words, keep it simple stupid. The more elaborate and complicated we make our goals then the less likely we will be to follow through with them.

The best way to simplify your goal setting is to only set one goal -- the ultimate goal. After that then everything else is just details. What is the ultimate goal? What is your final destination? When you are on your deathbed and you cast a look back over your life then what do you want to see accomplished there? When you look around you what do you want to see? That vision is your ultimate goal.

We all know that having a destination in mind makes traveling easier. Knowledge of that destination helps us plan what to pack and controls our transportation decisions. The same is true when it comes to setting goals and achieving those goals. If we know our destination then we know what to pack (and what to leave behind) and we can make better decisions about how to reach that destination. Simplifying our goals to that one ultimate goal also helps us focus on that one destination rather than constantly detouring and losing our way. It also makes it easier to measure the importance and relevance of so many other decisions that impact our daily life when we have the measuring stick. If we take Path A or Path B which will be more effective in reaching that ultimate destination?

Naming that ultimate goal for ourselves is a tremendously powerful tool for our own success because so often we spend our time and energy focusing on managing the details of our lives. We are simply reacting to whatever is thrown at us by others or simply by daily life. However in order to truly achieve success and achieve our goals then we must take the lead and that means acting. Simply by setting our ultimate goal and focusing our energy and time on that goal means that instead of reacting we are now taking action. That action means we have taken a leadership role in our own success. Simply by taking that action we are taking control of our own life and that is a very powerful step toward success.

If you want to achieve more success in your life then you must set one simple goal -- the ultimate goal for your life -- and you must get out in front of the goal to take action with your life instead of reacting all your life. <bio>Deanna Mascle shares more motivational and inspirational messages through her Advice Column blog at http://justfolks.net </bio>

Planning for success is an important way to overcome barriers to growth. It's similar to taking a vacation. You need a guide or a road map to keep you on course and give you direction. Would you attempt to navigate a ship on the open sea without a chart or map? Of course not. Even the ancient mariners used the stars and constellations to find their way.

A plan is a powerful tool for achievement. It's a magic key that helps you reach your goals and gives you the momentum to get through difficult passageways. Planning prevents unnecessary detouring, and helps you take responsibility for your actions. Goals are what keep you going and give you your focus. Keep focusing on your goals and continually take the needed steps to reach them. Your ability to keep moving after achieving one goal depends on how clearly you see the next step to set new goals.

Goal-setting is an ongoing, reciprocal process between you and the world. Accomplishing your goals helps you to overcome inner barriers of fear, and affirms your self-confidence. Goal-setting is not a mundane process. It generates out of your human need for self-drive and accomplishment. This drive for accomplishment is innate, it comes from within you. When you set goals, it solidifies you physically, mentally and emotionally. You begin to feel more connected to yourself and to the world.

There are six ways to focus on your goals and plan your success. It is important to include the following in your goal-setting procedure:

1. Identify your goal and make it a realistic one. You must care about it.

2. Select a goal that you can work on, rather than something someone else has selected for you.

3. Make sure it's specific, not vague. For example, choose a skill like "Communicating more effectively with your friends by using positive vocabulary," or "Managing your time more efficiently by stating a time and date for getting your goal accomplished." Selecting a goal you can do something about gives you the power and influence to actively and assertively accomplish your goal.

4. Have at least one goal or objective every day. Feel a sense of joy and fulfillment whenever you take a step toward accomplishing your goal, or objective.

5. Experience how your feelings and thoughts are pulled by your stated goals.

6. Reward yourself for every goal or objective that gets accomplished. Remember to be consistent when rewarding yourself as well. <bio>Make Life Magic! http://www.xtrememind.com http://www.JobCentralAsia.com http://www.powerconsultants.net </bio>
