The tiny republic was founded by a Christian stonemason named Marino (or Saint Marinus) on September 3, in the year 301 C.E.

Question: Which continent is the largest?

Answers: Asia

Trivia Teaser: Asia is the largest and most populous continent or region, depending on the definition. It covers 8.6 percent of the Earth's total surface area, or 29.4 percent of its land area, and it contains more than 60 percent of the world's human population. Australia is the smallest and lowest-lying of the Earth's continents, having a total land area of some 8,560,000 square kilometres.

Question: What is the earth creature with the longest neck?

Answers: Sauroposeidon

Trivia Teaser: Sauroposeidon, a huge, long-necked sauropod, was found in Oklahoma, USA, and may be the biggest dinosaur yet found. The name Sauroposeidon means andquot;Lizard Earthquake God,andquot; because this behemoth probably shook the ground when it walked. This giant plant-eater weighed about 60 tons and was about 60 feet tall. It has the longest neck in the fossil record, beating even the enormous dinosaur Mamenchisaurus. Individual vertebrae (neck bones) are up to 4 feet (1.2 m) long. A single bone looks more like a tree trunk than part of an animal's neck. Sauroposeidon lived about 110 million years ago, during the mid-Cretaceous period.

Question: Name one of the first crops ever cultivated? (there are 3)

Answers: Rice, Millet, or Sorghum

Trivia Teaser: Rice, millet, and sorghum are thought to be the first crops ever cultivated. Rice has been cultivated for over 5000 years. There are thousands of different varieties of rice (Oryza sativa). At the International Rice Research Institute Genetic Resources Center in the Philippines, there are 80,000 rice samples in cold storage. Rice is grown on every continent except Antarctica. The millets are a group of small-seeded species of cereal crops, widely grown around the world for food and fodder. They do not form a taxonomic group, but rather a functional or agronomic one, based on similar characteristics and uses. Sorghum originated in the north-east quadrant of Africa and spread from there throughout Africa and into India. In 1994, sorghum ranked fifth among the most important cereal crops of the world after wheat, rice, maize, and barley in both total area planted and production.

Question: What is the largest fish in the world?

Answers: Whale shark

Trivia Teaser: The whale shark is a the biggest shark and the biggest fish in the world. Despite its name it is NOT a whale. The whale shark is up to 46 feet (14 m) in length and weighs up to 15 tons. The average size is 25 feet (7.6 m) long. Females are larger than males (like most sharks). It has a huge mouth which can be up to 4 feet (1.4 m) wide at the very front of its head (not on the underside of the head like in most sharks). It has a wide, flat head, a rounded snout, small eyes, five very large gill slits, two dorsal fins (on its back) and two pectoral fins (on its sides). Whale sharks have about 3,000 very tiny teeth but they are of little use. This enormous shark is a filter feeder and eats by sieving huge amounts of plankton through its gills as it swims. The whale shark has distinctive light-yellow markings (random stripes and dots) on its very thick dark gray skin. Its skin is up to four inches (10 cm) thick. There are three prominent ridges running along each side of the shark's body.

Question: What is the longest river in the world?

Answers: Nile

Trivia Teaser: The longest river in the world is the Nile River at 4,157 miles long. The Nile is located in northeastern Africa, originating from tributaries of Lake Victoria, and flows into the Mediterranean Sea. <bio>If you enjoy Trivia Games and Trivia Contests you should enter the Trivia Teaser Online Contest at http://TriviaTeaserOnline.com </bio>

Just about everyone in the world knows that jolly toy-bearing Christmas figure from the North Pole, but how much do we really know about him? Here are a few quick trivia questions about our beloved Santa brought to you by www.247trivia.com.

Q: Where does the name Santa Claus come from?

A: The name Santa Claus was derived from Sinterklaas, the Dutch term for the ancient Christian figure of Saint Nicholas who was famous for his generosity to the poor (more about him later). The Dutch immigrants to America imported their gift-giving saint to New Amsterdam where he merged with his British counterpart, Father Christmas, to become America's own Santa Claus.

Q: everyone knows that Santa lives in the North Pole, but where is the real St. Nicholas from?

A: St. Nicholas who many consider to be the inspiration for modern Santa Claus was born in Patara around 275AD. Patara is located in present day Turkey, on the Southern Mediterranean coast in what is today an international tourist resort area where visitors spend hours basking in the warm Mediterranean sun. Certainly not a place you would want to be wearing fur coats in.

Q: If you really wanted to find St. Nicholas today, where would you go looking?

A: You may enjoy a trip to the North Pole, but if you really want to honor St. Nicholas, you would do better by heading towards Italy, where the remains of St. Nicholas are stored in the basilica of St. Nicola in the city of Bari. They have been there since the 11 century when they were, uh=85 borrowed=85 from their previous resting place in Myra in present day Turkey.

Q: Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and his companions take Santa on his rounds completely airborne. How is it that reindeer can fly?

A: Many people believe that the tale of flying reindeers (as well as other parts of the Santa story), originates from Lapland in modern day Finland. Some say that in Lapland reindeer had a habit of seeking out the hallucinogenic amanita mushrooms which they ate and then would prance around while under their influence. As these mushrooms are quite toxic, it was regular practice for local shamans to drink the urine of tripping reindeer for a "safe high" and then "fly" together with them. This could also explain the general cheerful disposition (with the "ho ho ho" and all), and the flushed red cheeks of today's Santa.

Q: Where did Santa get his unique outfit?

A: While it's no secret that the marketing people of Coca Cola have a lot to do with the modern image of Santa, some say the roots go way back. The same North European Shamans that liked to consume those red and white mushrooms with their reindeers used to wear quite a similar outfit when they went out to collect their pickings =96 red and white fur trimmed coats with long black boots. As implied above, it's quite certain that St. Nicholas was no inspiration for this outfit, as he lived in sunny south Turkey.

Q: Who was the first to create Santa's modern image?

A: Coca Cola still uses the iconic images of Santa which were hugely successful in the 30s, and created for it by the gifted artist Haddon Sundblom, an American of Swedish origin (does Northern Europe ring any bells here?). However the modern image of Santa was only finally standardized in his works, but had actually been developing for years before. Coca Cola wasn't even the first beverage company to make commercial use of every child's jolly toy bearing hero =96 a company called White Rock beverages used him to sell ginger ale and mineral water as early as 1915. However earlier versions wore a wide variety of colors. Coca Cola's Santa is the one the finally set the record straight, and since then Santa has been wearing nothing but Red and White. <bio>Lewis Payton writes trivia questions for the best online trivia games site in the Internet - http://www.247trivia.com Join for free. </bio>

How did he do it? How did your geeky cousin come up with such a cool website? Not only does it have great pictures of your latest family get together, but it also has the actual latest news headlines and even stock quotes. (And you never even knew he was into the stock market?)

Actually, he probably isn't. Chances are, he was just smart =96 he used free web content sites to spice up his own website.

Free web content sites and free article sites are quickly growing in popularity on the internet. And no wonder: They allow webmasters to quickly refresh their sites with new stuff, thus ensuring visitors will keep going back to them. (In the internet world that's called "stickiness".

What kind of content is available? Just about anything, from the latest news, trivia, quizzes, animation and clip art. Some even provide templates to help you design your website and counters to keep track of how many people visit it. Another nifty feature many free web content sites offer is a link to advertisers: If you link to one of them and a visitor from your site clicks the link, you could earn money. That's an easy way to earn a few extra bucks, isn't it?

Where does the other free content come from? Mainly from writers who want to gain exposure (or at least keep their hand in writing).

For instance, someone who is a trivia junkie might like to come up with fun quizzes. Rather than try to have the quizzes published by conventional means, he or she can submit them to a free web content site. If enough people select those quizzes for use on their website, it could generate enough of a "buzz" to make a publisher take notice. Even if that did not happen, the trivia junkie still gets the joy of sharing his or her hobby with others.

Are you a writer but don't know what to write about? Many of the free web content sites have lists from publishers who are seeking specific subjects. Some sites allow web designers to have material custom written for their site. Check these lists to see if something meets your special interest.

Does it sound too good to be true? Maybe yes, maybe no. Remember the old adage, "You get what you pay for." But with the publishing industry as competitive as it is, you may find some really valuable information in that free article. Just be sure to carefully read the content you are considering to make sure it is accurate and well-written enough. Badly written material is bad news for your website, no matter who wrote it.

Also, it pays to do a search to make sure the article wasn't ripped off from someone else. Simply type a key phrase from the material you are considering into your favorite search engine. If the search reveals another article very similar to the one you are considering, it may have been plagiarized.

It is also important to consider readership. If your website is mainly geared toward "Star Trek" and its many sequels, do you really want that wine review article in the margin? Likewise, if you're fairly conservative, read that romance column carefully to make sure it does not espouse values that you don't agree with.

Part of the beauty of free web content is that there is so much available. You can change content as often, or as little as you like. You can experiment with both the look and the content of your site =96 and have fun doing so.

Likewise, if you are a writer, you can try your hand at writing movie trivia and if nobody seems interested in it, you can always go back to sports writing instead. As long as your content meets the site's parameters, it will still be available for others to see, and perhaps use. It is helpful that many web content sites have a rating system. It allows you to see how your work compares with similar works and perhaps help you to match your material to reader interest.

Using a free web content site has many advantages, both for writers and for web page designers. Find them by typing "free web content" into your favorite search engine. You'll be amazed at what's out there for you to use =96 free. Who knows, you may even find stuff written by your geeky cousin =96 and use it too. <bio>Moe Tamani is a search engine optimization specialist for SEO 1 Services links http://www.seo-1-marketing-services.com http://www.internet-marketing-cafe.com http://www.seo-services-expert.com </bio>

Many people new to internet marketing wonder why search engine optimization, or SEO, is so important. In explaining why, this article could be very short or very long, according to how much of the topic I wish to write on, although the answer is basically a matter of common sense.

Anybody who uses search engines to find out information, which is the vast majority of internet users, uses phrases to find the information they are seeking. These phrases, to them, best describe the information they seek. Thus, if the are looking for information on what to look for when buying a second hand car they might use the term `buying second hand cars', or `buying used cars', or `how to buy used cars' and so on. Each of these terms is commonly termed a `keyword', and searching for the most used keywords, or even lesser used keywords, is big business on the internet.

If you have a website, or even just one web page, dealing with that topic, you can optimize it only for one of these keywords if you want the bets results. Many people make the mistake of trying to optimize a webpage for all the keywords they can think of, totally ignorant of the fact that if they have 20 keywords then they should have 20 web pages, each optimized for one keyword.

Some people make millions of dollars explaining to others how to find and use these keywords on their websites, even though it is historical information. Yesterdays most frequently used keyword could never be used again for the rest of the year. Let me give you an example of that.

When I was new to internet marketing, I wrote a website to sell my trivia quizzes. I run trivia quizzes in my local pub, and at that time also sold them to pubs in nearby towns and cities and wrote a book on how to go about it. I decided to advertise it online and also to sell my trivia quizzes. I paid $6,500 for a mentor from Corey Rudl's Internet Marketing Center to teach me how to do it, and I was shown how to use keyword research to publicize my book.

My mentor ended up recommending I use the keyword `black American history quiz' since it had a very high demand and low supply: so I did. Silly me! He was Canadian, and he didn't know that the word `quiz' in the USA can also apply to a school exam, and the `black American history quiz' was in demand by American high school kids for an exam on the topic.

I spent a fortune and made zilch. That is the last time I paid for information, and I was ripped off by the late Corey Rudl and his so-called Internet Marketing Center. At least that is my experience. It was only later that I found I could have got the same information free by registering for a few newsletters from other marketers.

I ended up losing many thousands of dollars through that experience, and using the bad information I was given, and am only now making up for it. That is the importance of knowing how to use SEO in your website. Learn how to select and use proper keywords, and do not be mislead by trends or spikes due to high school exams or current news as I was.

There are techniques to use to ensure that your website gets traffic from people browsing the web for information. If you know these techniques, you can make money from any topic, or niche, even if you personally know nothing about it. I have many websites on a number of topics, each of which makes me money in many different ways. There is no reason why you should do the same.

However, to do that, you must learn how to optimize each of the pages on your website. Stop regarding the site as an entity. It is the collection of pages that is important, each of those of which has to be treated as a separate entity. Every page will be listed separately in the search engines, and you need to know how to treat each differently, and how to optimize each so that every one will be listed in the search results when somebody uses your keyword to find the information they are seeking.

Good search engine optimization is very important, and without a good understanding of SEO, your internet business will have less a chance of success. <bio>Peter has made a study of SEO, which is now a passion, and if you want more information check out his website http://www.improved-search-engine-rank.com where he will show you how he does it with his own web pages. </bio>

Are you a movie dunce? Do you not know your Corleone from your Kurosawa? Would you recognise a lightsaber if it hit you in the face? Well, don't panic. To help you catch up on your movie knowledge here's the first instalment in your 2-part crash course in the top 10 movies of all time, as voted by the readers of the Internet Movie Database. Careful, though... here be spoilers.

10. Star Wars IV: A New Hope

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away . . .

Luke Skywalker, farmhand and son of Darth Vader, is torn from his home when his aunt and uncle are murdered by Imperial Storm Troopers searching for the stolen plans to the Death Star, a space station with weaponry capable of destroying planets. Luke escapes with his two droids, Jedi Knight Obi Wan Kenobi, smuggler Han Solo and first mate Chewbacca.

After escaping Tatooine, the ragtag crew stumble upon the Death Star shortly after it has destroyed the planet Alderaan. Caught by its tractor beam, their ship is dragged in. While attempting to escape the Death Star the team rescue Princess Leia, held prisoner in the ships bowels. During the rescue Obi Wan sacrifices himself to allow the others to escape.

In a grand finale, Luke destroys the Death Star by firing a missile into a weak spot in the structure of the ship and Darth Vader, is cannoned off into the depths of space.

Quote: I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Trivia: Al Pacino, Burt Reynolds and James Caan reportedly turned down the role of Han Solo.

9. Pulp Fiction

A movie whose various plotlines are far too intertwined to summarise in a paragraph or two, Pulp Fiction simply tells the story of a day in the life of a group of unusual people -- two hitmen, the wife of a gangster, and a boxer who killed in the ring among others.

Edited to tie each story together, the movie often plays out of sequence -- to the point where the final scene and the opening scene take place at the same time. Full of pop culture references and quotable lines, Pulp Fiction stays true to form as a Tarantino movie.

Quote: Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead.

Trivia: Vincent Vega (John Travolta) is the brother of Vic Vega, also known as Mr Blonde, in Reservoir Dogs.

8. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Set during the US Civil War, the movie follows the three protagonists Blondie (The Good), Snake Eyes (The Bad) and Tuco (The Ugly) in their search for a hoard of gold stolen by bank robber Bill Carson. All three want 50% of the gold -- resulting in a good old-fashioned standoff. Snake Eyes is shot dead, and the honorable Blondie allows Tuco his share of the booty.

Quote: You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Trivia: Clint Eastwood wore the same poncho for all three 'Man With No Name' movies -- without washing it once.

7. Schindler's List

Schindler's List tells the true story of Oscar Schindler, a Nazi industrialist who becomes so moved by the plight of the Jewish people during World War II that he devotes himself to saving as many as he can. Even after rescuing over 1,100 Jews from the gas chamber, Schindler bemoans the fact that he could have saved more had he sacrificed everything he had.

Quote: I could have got more out. I could have got more. I don't know. If I'd just... I could have got more.

Trivia: Steven Spielberg refused to take any pay for the film, claiming that it would feel like he was taking 'blood money'.

6. The Seven Samurai

Regarded as Akira Kurosawa's greatest film, the Seven Samurai tells the story of a terrorised village in war-torn 16th Century Japan. Constantly attacked by gangs of bandits, the residents enlist the services of seven ronin, or samurai without masters, to protect them.

Despite initial tensions between the villagers and the samurai, they together successfully defend the village against the bandits. However, their success comes at the cost of the lives of four samurai.

Quote: What's the use of worrying about your beard when your head's about to be taken?

Trivia: The three samurai whose characters survived the film were the first three to die in real life.

So, you're up to date on five of the top ten most popular movies of all time -- but that's not good enough! To complete your movie knowledge, why not read up on the top five movies in the final instalment of your crash course? <bio>James Shenton is a freelance writer and cinema buff whose work can often be found gracing the pages of industry journals and entertainment portals.
They say that money can't buy you happiness but a ton of KinzCash will definitely buy you some pretty cool things. Want some Webkinz Clothes or a fancy room? You'll need some KinzCash. KinzCash is the official money of Webkinz World. You can earn it by playing games and doing some other things too. Here are some tips and tricks on how to Earn More KinzCash.

Adopt Another Webkinz

Everytime you adopt a Webkinz, you'll get $2500. That's makes the US Dollar to KinzCash exchange rate about 250:1 assuming you buy a Webkinz for $10. Not a bad rate but there's much better ways to earn KinzCash that are free.

Wheel of Wow

Spinning the Wheel of Wow is something that you should do everyday. It only takes about a minute to do and every spin is a winner. You may not always win KinzCash but along with money there's food, clothing and furniture that you can win. And you could always sell anything that you don't want.

Wishing Well 2

Here's another daily activity that only takes a minute but if you do it everyday, you'll accumulate some decent KinzCash. Wishing Well 2 is just like The Wheel of Wow in that all you have to do is click a button and wait and see how much you won. What's different is that instead of spinning a wheel, you're filling in spots in a three by three grid and trying to get 2 or 3 in a horizontal row. Match 2 fruit (they must be next to each other in the same row) and you get $5, 3 fruits is $35. Match 2 pets and you get $10, 3 pets is $100. 1 Wishing Well is worth $5, 2 is $50 and 3 is $1000. Plus you get 3x those amounts if your matches are in the middle row. Do this everyday and by the end of the week you could have a nice chunk of change.

Get A Job

Click yourself over to the Employment Office and get a job. You can get a job once every 8 hours and the more jobs you complete, the more KinzCash you'll get. Don't worry, it's not like you have to dig a ditch or anything, jobs are very much like games at the arcade.

KinzCare Award

Give your pet the KinzCare Award everyday. Not only do you win money but food as well. And there's a bonus if you do it everyday of the week.

Gem Hunt

Something else to do everyday that will start to add up nicely by the end of the week. Go to the Curio Shop and do a Gem Hunt. If you aren't trying for that legendary Crown of Wonder, then sell any gems that you find. Some are worth a couple of hundred dollars.

Quizzy's Corner

Answering trivia questions at Quizzy's Corner is the most efficient way to earn KinzCash. You could earn a few hundred dollars each day just by spending 10-15 minutes doing trivia. And you might learn something while you're doing it.

Bingo

Play everyday (do you sense a pattern with these activities?) and there's a chance to win lots of KinzCash. It only takes a minute, so give it a shot.

Sell Unwanted Stuff

Let's say you spin the Wheel of Wow and win a Flat Screen TV. But what if you already have a TV in one of your Webkinz Rooms. Head right over to the W. Shop and sell it. In fact go through your rooms and remove anything that you don't want anymore and sell them too.

The key to earning more KinzCash is patience. Most of these activities can be done everyday and your KinzCash will add up over time. They don't take long to complete and they're fun too. Why with a little effort, you could be earning a couple of thousand dollars in KinzCash every week. <bio>If you want to earn more KinzCash or learn more ways to get the most out of Webkinz World, visit http://www.webkinztoday.com </bio>

What is marginal economy?

Think it this way, which do you need more, gold or water?

Of course you need water more.

Which one will you pay more money for? One kilogram of gold or one kilogram of water? Of course, gold.

Why?

That's because in economy, only the marginal matters. What does that mean?

Water is precious.

However, the value of water is the value of that least useful water that you still use anyway.

You use water to drink, you use water to take a shower, you use water to water your plants, then you use water to wash your car.

Obviously, the water that you drink is much more useful than the water that you use to wash your car. However, the value of water is the value of that least useful water.

Why is it so?

That's because you're trying to maximize your profit. Of course, you use your water for what's the most useful first.

Yes, but why is the value of water so low?

Say the value of water is higher than that. Say it is $5 per gallon. The satisfaction you'll get from washing your car is $1 per gallon. Then you simply don't wash your car.

Say the value is lower than that. The satisfaction of washing your car is $1 per gallon. However, water is so abundant that its cost is only $0.50. Then you'll use water for stuffs that give even less satisfaction, such as washing your house.

In fact, water can be so abundant that the price is negative. A negative price means that you're willing to spend money to get rid that water. Such is the case during a flood.

In which case, you'll actually spend money to get rid of water, such as buying water pumps. That's what happened to one of my grandmas because her house is often flooded.

What's the moral of the story? Be rare. When you're rare, you're valuable. When you're not rare, you're worthless. <bio>Jim Thio is a silver medalist in International Physics Olympiad.
