Shelves are a great thing, the best way to save space in your house and increase your chances of keeping an orderly and clean place is having shelves, in most cases shelves are better than closets just because they present you with a better way to organize things and the accessibility to the things on the shelves is easy.

Setting up selves in a room is not a complicated thing, but you will need to think things over before you actually set the shelves up, the main purpose of the shelves is an important issue, if the shelves should hold light things or if these are shelves that will have to hold many books and heavy items. Some people like to set up shelves in garages and workshops meaning that the shelves should be made of a strong and sturdy material, in these cases steel shelves are the best solution, you can not go with a stronger option to steel, and you can place almost anything on steel shelves.

In most cases people use shelves in rooms, this means that on average the shelves are used to keep personal items that need to be accessible to the person who is living in the room, in this case you should consider wood shelves that are great for because you can change their looks and paint them, or decorate them as you like, but the durability of regular wood shelves is not very strong and you should also bare in mind that if you want to keep a lot of things out and accessible you should consider a few shelves and not only one. In the case you want to install a few shelves you should think carefully about how you are going to set them up, on one hand you do not want all four walls to be covered with shelves, on the other you should not have only one wall dedicated to shelves and items to prevent you from having a museum feeling in your room.

The one room you should think very carefully about when considering shelving is your living room, although shelves are extremely practical they sometime do not go with the overall feeling of a living room, this is dependent of a few factors, the first crucial factor is the size of your living room, a large living room have a better chance of not being effected by shelves because of its space, a smaller living room will not look good if you place shelves on more than one wall, but sometimes a small living room can use shelving to create a larger space on the other sides of the room, thus solving the space problem.

Shelves can help in putting order and making a house look better, it is all a question of how you use them and where do you locate your shelves, the action of shelving itself is not very complicated but does require some experience and knowledge so be sure you know what you are doing before you start shelving. <bio>Daniel Roshard is an interior designer fascinated by outdoor architecture, currently studying public parks and outdoor design.
A stereo system is now an essential part of home entertainment in any modern home. They come in a variety of sizes and brands with many features. You have to pay attention to their quality of sound and their ability to blend in with your home when buying a stereo system. Wall mounted stereos answer these requirements perfectly.

One of the main advantages of having wall mounted stereos is their space saving ability. They are compact in size and won't take up any floor space. Some people also believe that they provide better sound due to the fact that they are mounted on the wall. This may be because the sound cones are situated against an immovable wall and since the stereo moves less it is subject to fewer distortions. Another reason for better sound may be because there are fewer obstacles between the listener and the stereo. Sound quality goes up when the stereo is placed against a wall since sound waves reflect off the wall.

Also keep in mind that even if your stereo isn't mountable, you can make use of wall mountable stereo shelves to achieve the same space saving results and sound quality. And don't forget, you can make use of the corners in your rooms, where the space is usually wasted and that will give you an additional advantage.

Placement

While you can save space by mounting the stereo on the wall, you should also pay attention to the correct placement to get the best out of the stereo system. You shouldn't forget that your primary goal is to obtain the best sound quality. However, since most audio experts agree that placing the stereo in corner of a room gives you optimum sound quality, you can kill two birds with one stone. When the stereo is in a corner, the sound waves reflect against the walls, the floor, and the ceiling of the corner it is in. So you can see how this can work in your favor.

Also, when you're mounting your stereo against the wall, keep in mind that you should place it at a convenient height. You'll want make sure that you can access it easily with your remote control. Before you find a location for it, you should also take into account that curtains, carpets, and other items, can absorb sound and thus create a muffling effect.

Buying Wall Mountable Stereo Shelves

When buying wall mountable stereo shelves, you can buy shelves made specifically for stereos or simply choose to focus on your basic wall mountable shelf. These can come in variety of styles, ranging from classical to modern. They also come in a variety of materials, ranging from plastic to wood.

You'll want to be certain to select the shelves that will blend in with your room's décor, as well as fit within the means of your budget size. Also, you'll want to be sure that the shelves are able to hold the weight of your stereo. You should also consider the shelves' ease of installation. Some wall stereo shelves do not require power tools, or studs to mount.

And remember, you can also save more space by having wall mountable CD racks and other storage compartments nearby so you can store your audio collections and other accessories out of the way.

With some knowledge and foresight you can have a great sounding stereo system that doesn't take up a lot of space and has the look and feel you desire.<bio>Tameka Norris has been living in small spaces since she was 10 years old.
Not every bathroom has the room for elaborate cabinetry, especially guest bathrooms. However that doesn't mean all hope is lost for your bathroom redesign. If you're looking for bathroom shelves that fit perfectly in your bathroom without taking up too much space, you need to start looking at free-standing, wall-mounted, and corner bathroom shelf units.

Bathroom shelf units are the perfect alternative to installing built-in shelving. These bathroom shelving units are smaller in size, often rest on the floor or can be mounted on the wall, and often have multiple layers and drawers built into them. Bathroom shelf units come in many different styles and designs. If you're looking for bathroom shelves that will accent your bathroom's look, a glass unit will do the trick. If you're looking for something with a bit more character, a wood unit will give your bathroom the solid foundation it needs.

Selecting Your Bathroom Shelves Bathroom shelving units come in different sizes, shapes, makes, and colors. So you want to make sure you pick one that matches your bathroom's décor and fits in the space you have available. The reason you're opting for a shelving unit instead of built-in shelves is because of space constraints. So measure the space you have and find a unit that fits within those dimensions. If you're opting for a wall-mounted unit, make sure the wall area can handle the weight of the shelf unit. Make sure there are studs in the wall area to properly secure the unit. If there aren't, try and find a different, more appropriate location for the wall unit or see if a free-standing unit would be more appropriate.

Combining Bathroom Shelves with Your Vanity For larger bathrooms, it may be feasible to incorporate a bathroom shelving unit along with your bathroom vanity. Depending on the available space and amount of storage you need, a separate shelving unit is a perfect way to display bathroom knick-knacks such as candles, clocks, pictures, etc. Bathroom vanities tend to be more utilitarian and not the safest place for delicate items such as pictures, music boxes, and other fragile items often found in bathrooms. Placing such items on a vanity top can expose these items to water splashing from the sink. Bathroom shelving units also create added space for additional storage. You'll be surprised how quickly you can run out of room in a bathroom.

Bathroom shelves add space and usability to your bathroom. A simple shelving unit can create spaces for bric-a-brac, added storage, and give your bathroom the look of elegance it needs to perk up its drab appearance. So if you're looking for a quick solution to changing up your bathroom's design without spending thousands on a renovation, bathroom shelves are your solution. <bio>For more information on http://www.modernbathroom.com/cabinets-shelf-units_39.html and other modern bathroom furnishings, visit http://www.modernbathroom.com </bio>

Shelves are the perfect solution for both storage and display. Shelves can be small and intricate for displaying diamonds in a jewelery shop window, medium sized for items in a house or garage, or massive structures in the center of a huge warehouse for storing machinery like car parts.

Depending on the situation, shelves can be free-standing units, or mounted on a wall as a single shelf, or positioned against a wall or in a corner. For storage and maximizing space, shelves are the perfect solution. You can see what's on the shelf, even if the item is high up. Small items can be placed in boxes, which need to be labeled clearly, either with a code or an actual description of what's in the box. The safety of shelves is vital, they need to be built properly and ideally attached to a wall. If this is not done, there is a risk of a single shelf or the whole shelf unit collapsing, causing damage to what's on the shelf and possibly injuring or even killing people. Proper attention must be paid to the attachment system. The shelf must be securely attached to a wall of possible. For free-standing units, it should be braced against something to keep it steady. These considerations are important, because with shelves there is the possibility of a 'domino effect' where a high shelf collapses and brings down shelves beneath it. Or a shelf unit in a warehouse is hit by a fork-lift truck and crashes against other shelf units which then fall and bring others down in the process. Larger, heavier items should always be stored on the lower shelves and lighter items on the upper shelves. This is the right thing to do for a number of reasons. Visually this looks better balanced in a display, say in a jewelery shop window, where large, chunky watches are lower down and delicate items like earrings are on upper shelves.

Also, getting a bulky item of a lower shelf is safer than getting it from a high level. If you slip and drop an item, both you and the item have less distance to fall. And the stability of the shelf unit is improved if the heavier items are lower down on the structure. The heavier items actually keep the shelf unit more securely anchored, whereas they would have the opposite effect if stored on high shelves. Some shelf units have a mechanical element to save space.

The shelf units can be opened up so you can walk between the shelf units, then closed again so that the units have no space between them. Such systems are commonly installed in libraries as a space-saving measure. Many more documents can be stored this way. However users do need to be aware of safety and check the aisles before closing them to avoid trapping people. In terms of materials, shelves are usually made from a fairly limited range of materials. Display shelves in shops are often made of perspex, plastic or felt-covered board. Domestic shelves tend to be made of wood or metal. Industrial shelves are occasionally made of wood, but are predominately metal. <bio>Big Dug are a leading industrial supplier of racking and other industrial related products.
One of the best aspects of Moroccan home decor is that you can combine it easily with any other home decor style and create an eclectic interior design in your home. If you are seeking color, texture and innovative design, you will find it when it comes to Moroccan style.

As time has moved, this colorful and dramatic style has captivated the inspiration of many interior designers and evolved to the point where it can be mixed to make an eclectic blend in any home. If you are seeking dramatic effect in your home decorating, consider using Moroccan home decor on your walls.

5 Ways of Using Moroccan Home decor on Walls

1. Take a look at the Moroccan wall shelves that are available in the market today and use them to add instant decor to your walls. You can place clay vases and other Moroccan art on the shelves that can be attached to the wall or even put in the corner. If you want to add both culture and beauty to your home, consider Moroccan wall shelves.

2. Do not ignore Moroccan lighting. You can use wall sconces that not only reflect light but are also pieces of art by themselves. Whether large or small, Moroccan wall sconces are both practical as well as artistic. They can be a focal point of any wall or corner in your home. They also make for a great way to fill up an empty space on any wall.

3. You can find patterned Moroccan rugs that will look great on the floor as well as up on the wall. Do not think that rugs have to be placed only on the floor. Some of the Moroccan rugs look great on the wall and are an excellent idea when you have a large wall space that may be difficult to cover. You can choose a tapestry or any patterned rug and give any wall instant culture.

4. Mirrors are often used to give a room more depth and Moroccan mirrors are no different. They can add more dramatic flair to your home because they are made of metal frames with intricate details. You can place the wall sconces next to the mirrors and get the maximum reflection of the light. A mirror can be used in place of a painting on any wall and broadens the appearance of the room as well as adds beauty.

5. Do not forget paint when you are considering Moroccan decorating. If you want the best effect when you are painting, use warm earth tones on the walls. This will give your home a feeling of warmth as well as beauty. Paint your walls a warm, earthy tone and then decorate the walls using Moroccan artwork and decor. You will have a fun when you are implementing Moroccan decorating and your guests will always feel welcome.

One of the reasons why Mediterranean design is popular is because it is both comfortable, welcoming and will combine with any other home decor style. In addition to that, the designs are timeless and will not "go out of style" any time soon as they have been used for ages. You can pick a wall or a room and just begin adding pieces bit by bit to fill your home with Moroccan home decor.<bio>Seomul Evans is a Search Engine Marketing for leading Moroccan Decor retailer and publishers of Moroccan Cuisine.</bio>

Like most things building a coat rack or a modular book shelf that covers an entire wall is not that hard if you have the proper tools and a little know how. Using the modular technique you simple build the book shelf in sections and assemble them together on the wall. The first step is to do some measuring if your wall happens to be 12 feet long it is very simple you can either make 3 sections 4 feet wide or 4 sections 3 feet wide. It is probable best to go with the 4 sections this will require more material and work but a book shelf that is four feet long may not be so good at holding up books.

At the bottom of your new bookcase most people have the baseboard trim extend on the bookcase this gives the built in look so you will need to build up the base which is simple enough build a base out of MDF medium density fiberboard that is the correct height to set you new bookcase on. At the ceiling it is a good idea to either finish or top out the book case with a crown molding or with a final trim piece that is somewhat adjustable. I have never found a ceiling that is 100 percent straight or flat. The other reason you need some additional room is that you would not be able to get your new bookcases in with out a little gap at the top so plan on this from the beginning and you should be al right.

He actual book cases and shelves can be made from MDF with a solid wood front edge if you plan on painting the bookcase if you want a stain then you may want to consider using plywood Birch, and Oak plywood is readily available at most home centers. The cases themselves are simple long boxes you can use a but joint on the corners and cut a rabbit joint in the back to accept a piece of =BC inch plywood to add strength and stability. You will need to decide if you want adjustable shelving or fixed. With some proper planning most people can get away with fixed shelves as once the shelves are placed it is rare that they are ever moved again. Adjustable shelves can be done in one of two ways you can drill a series of holes that will accept a pin to support the shelve or you can install metal strips that allow for special clips to be inserted every =BD inch or so to act as shelve supports.

The selves can be made again from MDF or plywood it is a good idea to add a piece of solid wood across the front this hides the edge of the plywood or MDF and adds some strength to the shelve. <bio>Megan Cherry composes articles for http://www.pegandrail.com </bio>

If you have a passion for scrapbooking, but lack space, it can be very difficult. You might be forced to keep all of your scrapbook storage in a cabinet, closet or even possibly on to of your refrigerator.

Having an actual space designated just for your scrapbook storage can really help when your supplies start to accumulate.

That way you can easily find all the items you need to make your scrapbook projects easier and more efficient. It can get pretty time consuming having to sort through a mountain of materials to find the things you need.

Here are some easy ideas that will help you with your scrapbook storage when you are lacking on space.

Install some shelves:

Find a wall that you can dedicate for scrapbook storage. Even in cramped spaces, you should be able to find a wall that you can use for your scrapbook storage.

When you have found a great wall, install shelving from the floor to the ceiling. If you can't build out, you can always build up.

You can place doors on the shelves if you don't want all of your supplies showing. Another great idea is to use bins that fit well on the shelves to organize and store your supplies.

You can write on the outside of the bins with markers, or take a Polaroid of what's inside the bin and hot glue it to the outside of the bin.

This makes for quick access to all of your supplies. You can purchase office supply paper holder to place in your shelves and separate your papers as well.

Maximize your space:

The key to scrapbook storage for small spaces is to maximize your space. You want to be able to get as much as you can in as small an area as you can. If you don't have enough room for shelving, try an `under the bed' container to keep your scrapbook supplies in.

You can purchase these from any home supply store. Place your small items such as stickers, markers, or small embellishments in labeled Ziploc bags and place them in your under the bed organizer. You can also keep things like paper and other supplies in here.

A fun resource for really simple scrapbooking organizers is http://www.discountscrapbooking.net/organizers-carriers.html

This is great for people with very limited space who need scrapbook storage. You can pull out the organizer any time you need to, and your items are still organized and you can get to them quickly.

If you have to, you can always dedicate one of the kitchen cabinets for your scrapbook storage. Just take all of the food out of it and put them in the other cabinets. This should only be done if you have absolutely not space at all to work with otherwise.

No matter who you are or what your space is like, you can create scrapbook storage if you use your imagination and work with what you have. Use these great ideas to help you come up with a scrapbook storage plan today. <bio>Amy C is a scrapbooking addict and mother of four.
It's becoming a joke these days that a garage is used for almost anything except storing a car. Most people store their sports equipment and other large items and also use their garage as a workshop. Some have even put a home office or a gym in the garage space. If it has reached the point where you cannot fit your car in your garage, maybe you should think about putting in some shelves for additional storage.

Garage shelves can be obtained either site built or prefab. If they are site built, you will have to fit them into your existing space but you can adapt them to your needs with equipment you can find at your local home center, lumber yard or hardware store.

Basic garage shelves can be built out of 3/4 inch plywood of 1x or 2x lumber, simply set on heavy duty shelf brackets. The brackets should be attached to the studs with long screws and the shelves should be attached to the brackets. This is necessary because of at he weight. For additional strength, a brace can be added at each stud.

Floor supported shelves are very stable and are made by running vertical 2X4s every 50 inches and placing them on the floor, then attaching them to rafters or ceiling joints at the top., Then, 2X4s are run horizontally between the uprights and particleboard is used for the shelves. Usually 19-25 inch deep shelves are used and the 2X4s are placed on 25 inch spacing. The advantage of this is you can change the spacing to accommodate larger items.

If you are storing small items, it is better to attach a series of 1X2 strips to the inside edges of 2 adjacent studs. Then, cut some 1X4 and 1X6 lumber and fit them between Th studs and slip them on top of the 1X2s. This creates some small shelves that can be adjusted for small items such as cans, jars, bottles; you may want to organize your screws and nails in these jars and bottles.

For really durable, heavy shelving, choose steel shelving. Plastic shelving may be alright if you are storing things that are light weight, but if you have heavy items, you should choose steel. The disadvantage of steel is that you cannot cut it to size to suit your needs, but have to pick from the standard shelves. These do come in different widths, depths and heights, so you can find the ones most closely suited to your needs.

You should make sure that the prefabricated shelves you choose can be adjusted. AT least two different levels of adjustment between the framework is desirable. Make sure the pins are heavy duty and have a bar in place to prevent them from working loose.

Finally, make sure your prefabricated shelves can be attached to the wall for security against tipping. If you are going to use the shelves for heavy items, this is really an important feature. <bio>Greg Hansward pens essentially for http://www.insidewoodworking.com , an internet site with information about garage organizer and garage storage ideas.
Mirror, Mirror On The Wall!

When it comes to catching and reflecting light in your home, nothing does it better than mirrors. Long used to make public places look bigger, these same tricks can be used in the smaller confines of your home. Mirrors can be used to solve decorating challenges and enhance every room of your home because of their reflective qualities.

Try the following andquot;decorating with mirrorsandquot; tips:

*If you have a wall just in front of the entrance then placing a unique mirror on that wall opens it up.

*If you want a hallway/stairway to appear wider: stagger mirrors on either side.

*If you want a hallway/stairway to appear longer: a mirror at the end will double its length.

*Wrought iron mirrors are popular and can be used as a home decor accent with most decorating styles.

*Collections of unusual mirrors can be used instead of traditional art behind a sofa or in a hallway. Start with a large mirror and hang smaller size mirrors around it for an informal, eclectic feel.

*You can multiply candles, flowers, etc. by joining together several mirrors with butt hinges and placing them behind the objects on a mantle or table.

*For a home full of antiques, you can choose decorative mirrors with similar antique style frames, such as gold leaf.

*Whitewashed frames will compliment the shabby chic look, and identical small-framed mirrors hung in rows will contribute to the look of a modern interior.

*Instead of the traditional wall-to-wall mirrors used to make a room seem larger, the trend now is to use a row of long, tall mirrors spaced across the wall.

*Make sure mirrors reflect only things you want to see more of.

Do not place a mirror directly across from a laundry basket, or any generally cluttered area. Instead, you might want to place it across from a source of light, a favorite painting, or a window.

*For people who live in apartments or condominiums, window light can be limited. By adding a mirror or group of mirrors to those windowless walls, you can create the illusion of windows and reflect light into the space. Mirrors mounted inside old window frames with curtains hung over them can further enhance the illusion.

*Mirrors can also be found in unexpected places such as sewn into the trim of throw pillows and curtains. Placed in the back of display shelves they help show off your collections and figurines.

*Put a mirror on the ceiling of kitchen cabinets or the pantry, that way, you can see what's on the top shelf. Also, if placed in the back of pantry shelves, mirrors can reflect light and help locate items on deep shelves.

*Mirrors can also be used in the dining room to enhance your table decor. Instead of placemats, consider using mirrors for each place setting. They will light and draw attention to your table and by using bright and decorative dishes you will create a stunning display. <bio>You will find a variety of best price home decor and decorating tips at http://www.lynnshomedecor.com. </bio>

Today when space is at a premium, the area available for your laundry may be very limited. By using clever space saving techniques and multi-purpose utility products you can organize your laundry room to look clutter-free and impressive.

Getting wall-cabinets to efficiently use the space available is a clever idea since it will not take up any of your floor space. You can store all of your cleaning material like soap, bleach, softener and stain removers in it and they'll be within easy reach, yet conveniently out of the way.

Putting up a few hooks in or below the cabinets will help create more space for storing things that can be hung. This way they will not take up shelf space. If you think wall cabinets are too expensive, wall shelves are also an attractive, yet affordable, alternative.

Use boxes to keep your shelves organized and clean. Remember to clear away empty bottles and products that have gone unused and have been sitting on the shelves too long. That way you free up more space and reduce the clutter.

It is also a good idea to organize your dirty clothes by using a laundry sorter, that way your clothes will already be in their proper place when you need to do them. You won't have to waste extra time sorting them yourself. You'll find it will save you time on your laundry day and keep all the dirty clothes neatly into sets that can go straight into the washer.

An iron is also a necessity. But you may not be lucky enough to have space for an ironing board. Using a collapsible, foldable ironing board can help save space. There are units available where the ironing board folds into a box or a drawer. Or consider a wall-mounted unit which will save you additional floor space.

Also, remember that the ironing board could be used for folding clothes once they are washed and dried. Foldable table tops are available which can be used for your folding and ironing purposes. In which case, it will fold up against the wall when not in use.

The space above the washer and dryer can be used to access a rod that maintains hung-clothing once it comes out of the dryer. It will provide you with a simple yet effective way to keep your clothing wrinkle-free. It could also be useful for clothes that can't go in the dryer and need to drip-dry.

Or if you have enough space you could use a clothes rack by the dryer as an alternative.

A small, compact dustbin near the dyer will be useful to collect the used dryer sheets and lint. A plastic container could be kept handy to store away any bills, coins, keys, paper and other items that get left behind in pockets.

And last but not the least, remember to keep your floor clean and make sure you have enough light so the room always looks warm and welcoming when you walk in.<bio>Tameka Norris has been living in small spaces since she was 10 years old. She now runs a website titled Furniture for Small Spaces which offers nifty tips and tactics, a Q and A section for people in need of answers, projects for the DIYer, photos of small spaces and more.</bio>

If you have a guest room in your home, why not make it a place that people will feel welcome and comfortable? There are easy ways to turn your guest room into a space that lets your guests know that you care about them, and that you're glad they are visiting! Here are some tips to help you create an inviting guest room.

1. Storage

When a guest comes to stay, one thing that can make for an uncomfortable visit is not having any place to store the items they brought with them. In addition to closet space, your guest room should include a dresser that is empty. Even if your guest is only staying a day or two, and needs only one or two drawers, if you have items in some of the drawers in the guest room, he may feel uncomfortable storing his things there. Also, hang some wall shelves, so that guests will have a handy spot to place their keys, wallet, books and other items.

2. Books

Have a large variety of books and magazines available for your guest to enjoy once he has retired to his room. Have wall shelves full of books in several genres as well as a magazine rack with several current issues. This will add to the homey feel of the room, and help your guest relax before going to sleep.

3. Mirrors

Even if your guest will have his own bathroom during his stay, the guest room should still have at least one mirror. Hang a beautiful decorative mirror and you'll have style and function. Also, if the room is on the small side, hanging a mirror will help the room feel larger.

4. Cozy Bedding

Nothing will help your guest feel more at home than finding soft, fluffy, cozy bedding when he retires for the night. Choose cotton sheets with a high thread count and plump pillows. Add a luxurious comforter, and your guest may never want to leave!

5. D=E9cor

Some people neglect the task of decorating their guest room. Instead, they simply place a bed and a dresser in the room and consider it complete. But, when your guests come to stay don't you want them to have a room that is as lovely as the other rooms in your home? The d=E9cor should be simple, so that the room can maintain an open feel, but simple can also be beautiful. Paint the walls in soft, neutral tones and hang curtains that can block the light in case your guest needs a nap during the day. Hang wall shelves for storage, mirrors and a clock in case your guest forgot his watch. If there is room, consider adding a television and/or stereo, so that your guest will feel free to watch or listen to what they please during their stay.

If you like to entertain overnight guests, the guest room may be one of the most important rooms in your house. With just a little extra attention, this room can go from "blah" to "wow"! <bio>Jessica Ackerman is the head author at http://www.walldecorandhomeaccents.com </bio>

Some brackets are specially designed so to fold back so that your screen sits completely flush to the wall. This creates an amazing look when you are watching your screen, but means it's much less visually obstrusive when it's switched off.

3. Many TV wall brackets are easy to adjust, meaning they are suitable for a wide range of screens. So while you still have the option of getting one produced by your screen's manufacturer -- and often these look best -- you aren't always forced to buy their product, whatever the price.

4. Whatever size your screen, there's sure to be a bracket to match. Many TV wall brackets can cope with a wide range of sizes so you'll be sure of a good fit, plus there's one less thing to worry about if you later upgrade to a bigger screen.

5. If you've spent a lot of money on a great-looking TV, you may well have co-ordinated the colour with your other audio-visual equipment. The good news is that many TV wall brackets now come in a range of colours so you are sure to get one that matches your set-up.

6. Many TV wall brackets have built-in cable management, and even if your choice doesn't, you can get specially designed solutions relatively cheaply. This means you can hide away the cables which run from your wall-mounted TV in a discreet way. Some cable covers are even paintable so you can match them to your wall colours to make them even less noticeable.

7. A decent TV wall bracket may be cheaper than you think. While you can spend a lot of money on a top-notch model, there's a wide variety of prices and some offer excellent value with skimping on quality or performance.

8. Most screens allow you to tilt or swivel your screen without much effort. That's ideal if you've got large windows and get shadows at certain times of the day. It's also very handy if you've got an open-plan kitchen and want to be able to see the screen perfectly while cooking dinner.

9. If you really want to splash the cash, there are even motorized TV wall brackets. You can use a remote control to move your screen about and even rotate it as much as 180 degrees. That may sound like a flashy gimmick -- and it's certainly flashy -- but it can be very handy if the most convenient place to mount the TV is somewhere other than the ideal viewing location.

10. Some brackets even have shelves built underneath which can safely hold your other equipment while still looking attractive. Just imagine never having to get down on your hands and knees to change DVDs again!<bio>To explore our range of tv wall brackets, please visit our website at http://www.avnow.co.uk</bio>

Then when we're at our craft table, in need of a certain something, it is no where to be found! Here are some helpful ways to keep the clutter down and find the craft table that is right for you.

Some are lucky enough to have a craft room with a permanent craft table in it. For those of us that aren't so lucky, the kitchen table usually does the trick. It is not wise to use the kitchen table, however, because of the risk of damage.

When you are using glues, paints, or sharp objects like knives or scissors, your kitchen table can pay the price.

As an alternative, consider using a folding table. I have even seen a very creative suggestion including sawhorses and a flat-surface door. Use adjustable sawhorses as the legs of your table. Use the door as the top. For added protection, you can seal the door. Take advantage of empty wall space by hanging shelves or peg board. If you hang hooks on the wall in front of your craft table, you can have the tools you need most often within your reach.
With more and more people moving to the city, apartments and condos are getting smaller and smaller to accommodate all the people migrating in. It's not uncommon to find bedrooms a quarter of the size they used to be. Living rooms blend into dining rooms and there just isn't as much space in the kitchen as there once was. This can be a major problem for people who have a lot of stuff and are used to having the space to store it.

But never fear, there are ways to make the most of a small space. You just have to be a little creative with the space you have. Here a few tips to help you make the most of a small space:

1. Buy storage-friendly furniture. There are many items you can buy that have hidden storage in them. Coffee tables that open up into a trunk, beds with drawers underneath, end-tables with drawers and shelves, TV consoles with DVD storage underneath. These types of furniture will provide a home for your things while keeping them hidden from view so you don't have to look at a lot of clutter.

2. Make use of the space under your bed. If you don't have built in drawers under your bed, you can pick up some cheap plastic containers that are made to fit under beds. You can store out of season clothing here to make room in your closets, or store other things that you don't use every day.

3. Use your closet space. Closet space may seem limited, but you can optimize your closets. Make good use of the space above and below your clothes by adding a shelf for your shoes. Fold your sweaters and put them on the top shelf or simply use it as storage. The floor of your closet can also be used to store boxes.

4. Think small. Many stores sell storage units that are made to go in small spaces. You can buy narrow shelves that are meant to go in tight spaces in kitchens. These are good for storing canned or dried foods.

5. Use the walls. One place that many people don't think of to use as storage is the wall space. You can easily mount a spice rack to the wall in the kitchen. You can also mount shelves to the wall to store books or family photos.

6. Feng Shui. It might sound cheesy, but this ancient Chinese practice can really make a huge difference in the way a small space feels. By using feng shui principles to arrange the furniture in each room, you can make a small space seem larger and more homey.

Keep in mind that in order to make your new home feel spacious and clean, it's important not to have a lot of clutter around. Using these ideas will help improve the amount of storage space you have and help make your new home be a pleasant place to live. With a little creativity you can easily make your new home a clutter-free place and organized place to be.<bio>Lorne MacInnes is a managing partner of Ferguson Moving and Storage, one of the oldest Vancouver moving companies, and an industry expert in the moving and relocation sector in North America.</bio>

Most people are naturally born very handy--they can look at a space on the wall and perfectly align shelves, hang up a picture, or locate a wall stud.

Most of us are not that fortunate. Even so, if one buys a flat screen they will have to know the right way to install TV wall brackets.

Although the idea of trying to affix your rather costly television set to the wall can produce paranoid fantasies of said item falling and breaking into a million pieces, the likelihood of something like that actually occurring is slim. Even if the thing did manage to fall, most of the TV's, while very fragile looking, can be made to withstand a certain degree of shake up.

That said, it doesn't hurt to make sure your TV is well situated.

TV wall brackets are your ace in the whole in this regard. Not only are they specially made for the purpose of mounting the TV, they give you the freedom to place the set where it would be most advantageous to you and TV viewing guests. You generally don't get that option with a floor model or larger television set, because the placement depends on where the set can fit best in the room.

To get started with installation, you will need to have access to a drill. Whether you are all thumbs or not when it comes to operating a drill, you must be confident when handling this tool. Fear or misuse can cause problems, making the process take far longer than it should. Cordless drills would be far simpler to use as well as an electric one.

Prior to any drilling, you must also be sure the TV wall brackets are level--who wants to watch their favorite TV show while tilting their neck to the side. A laser level may help if you don't have a natural eye for that sort of thing.

Once everything looks to be in line, start drilling holes where the screws will be. Once the bracket is set up, you will be able to affix the TV--if you are real adept at it, the process should take no longer than 15 minutes.

If you really want to ensure that the kiddos or pets won't tangle themselves in the AV cables and power lines, you may be able to figure out a way to run them where they are not easy to access. Some DIY acuity may be necessary if you to place them behind the drywall. There is also the option of attaching a holder of some sort near the TV and out of harms way.

TV wall brackets won't have to be replaced and should last as long as the lifetime of the TV--even longer. This means that if for some reason your flat screen ceases to function, you can use the same brackets for the replacement, provided you are using the same model.

Unless you know what you are doing, it wouldn't be a good idea to substitute the brackets with something non TV related. Taking the time to install the TV wall brackets correctly and thinking professionally can greatly increase you and your family's enjoyment of the new flat screen television.<bio>To explore our range of TV Wall Brackets, please visit our website at http://www.avnow.co.uk</bio>

For many of us, storage space within the home seems to be at a premium most of the time. Although the majority of homes include a large number of closets, they always seem to be full. The truth is, most home owners only use about one-third to two-thirds of their closet space. Because closets are designed vertically, there remains a lot of room even in closets that seem the most crowded as there is a lot of the area that contains only air. Depending on the location of the closet, there are many ways that you can maximize the storage capacities of your household closets.

Bedroom closets are the first type of closet that comes to mind. Bedroom closets usually contain most of our clothes. Clothes are a major space taker in a closet, but they can be reduced so that your closet has more capacity. One way to add to the space for storage within your closet is to use or add additional shelves. Most bedroom closets will include a shelf at the top that can be useful for storing boxes and other smaller items such as underwear and socks. There are many accessories available that can add to your storage capacity as well. Closet organizer hang vertically but contain several vertical compartments that are useful for storing clothing items that can be folded such as pants and T-shirts. You can also buy apparatus that hangs from the main bar in your closet, and is essentially a second bar. This is used to hang more clothing on. The idea of both of these pieces of equipment is to fully utilize the vertical space in your closet.

Other closets in your house are probably used for a variety of storage purposes, for games, books, food, and seasonal clothing. All of these shelves are useful in that they are ready for additional shelving to be incorporated, giving them some extra capacity. There are several different types of shelves for this purpose. One is the bracket shelving style. This type of shelf is easily adjustable due to the many slots on the mount into which the metal bracket is placed. The flexibility offered by these shelves is great, but they tend to be unreliable in terms of stability, and you may find yourself knocking the shelves themselves over gain and again. A more complex process in terms of installation, but a much more reliable model when it comes to stability, are installed wooden shelves with ledges. These shelves have to be measured carefully on installation, or they will be useless to you. The mounts are merely ledges nailed into the wall, the shelves sized planks that fit on top of the ledges. The whole project requires some attention to detail, and you lose the flexibility offered by bracket shelves, but they are a much more stable model.

There are a few ways to maximize the closet space in your home, depending on the use of the closet and the degree of stability and effort you want to put into it.
The cabinets and cupboards have changed somewhat from the time when they were all handmade. When your grandmother was a young wife or even before she became one, cabinets were made to be more functional than decorative. That is not to say they did not add embellishments to break up the monotony however, the older the cabinet the less likely it was to be ornamental.

Some of the older cupboards from 75 to 100 years ago were the type that had the flour compartment to sift your flour when you were getting ready to bake. On most of these it was behind a smaller door on the either the left or right hand side of the cabinet. The other side had shelves.

A counter of sorts underneath the top shelves, for rolling out your flour to make biscuits or whatever you were making, and a couple of doors underneath or a door on one side and drawers on the other. This was for storing your pots and baking pans. Silverware and cooking utensils could be kept in the drawers. These types of cabinets were also called Hoosier cabinets.

Have times changed? Today the only reason someone would want a cupboard like this would be either for the value or the aesthetics it would provide.
