In this marketing article I would like to discuss the importance of presenting your business in a professional manner when customers and sales prospects contact you.

The first thing I want you to do is think to yourself, "If I were a customer contacting my business, what would I think of this business? Would I think this is a friendly and professional business with great service or would I think it was unprofessional and a bit of a joke?"

I ask you to go through this exercise because from my experience of working with clients on improving their sales and marketing programs, many businesses are presenting themselves in a very unprofessional manner and they are losing sales because of it.

Here are some guidelines for providing your customers and sales prospects with a professional experience when they contact you:

1. Answer your phone in a friendly and professional manner and say the name of your company. Don't answer your phone by saying, "This is Mike." Instead, say, "Hello, this is Mike with XYZ Corp. How may I help you today?"

2. Do everything possible to make sure your phone is answered by a live person. In today's fast-paced world, people want instant gratification. If a prospect is ready to buy and calls your business and nobody answers the phone, your prospect will probably go to your competition and buy from them. How many times have you gone through the phone book to purchase a product or service and kept calling different companies until you got a live person on the phone? I do it all the time. If you are not answering your phone, you are losing sales.

3. If you are unable to answer your telephone, you better have voice mail. Nothing is more unprofessional and irritating than calling a business and the phone just rings and rings and there is no voice mail. If you do not have voice mail, shame on you! Immediately stop reading this article and call your phone company and get voice mail.

4. Check your voice mail often and return phone calls quickly. If you want to make more sales, do everything you can to return phone calls quickly. And by quickly I mean in under 2-hours. If you wait a day or two to return a prospect's call, you have probably lost that sale and the only one to blame is YOU.

5. Have a fax machine. It makes your business look very unprofessional when a customer wants to send you a fax and you have to tell them to send it to your local copy shop (or not to send it at all) because you don't have a fax machine.

6. If you have a website, use your website's domain name for all employee email addresses. Businesses that are using hotmail, yahoo or aol email addresses look unprofessional. If you do not have a website and you are forced to use a yahoo, hotmail or aol email address, at least use something that looks professional. Using "hotgirl28" at http://email.com is horribly unprofessional. You may laugh and say nobody would do that but I see it all the time. <bio>Peter Geisheker is CEO of http://www.marketing-consulting-company.com.
Many users of MySpace tout the potential for advertising to be one of the most useful features of this online community. However, there are quite a few pitfalls to advertising on MySpace. Most importantly those who advertise on MySpace run the risk of finding themselves in violation of MySpace's terms of service and facing the consequences of these infractions. In addition advertising on MySpace can appear very unprofessional to potential customers. Finally, those who advertise on MySpace may become guilty of spamming. This article will take a look at these three advertising pitfalls and provide advice for avoiding these potential problems.

Violating the Terms of Service on MySpace

One of the most serious potential problems with advertising on MySpace is violating the terms of service outlined by the administrators of MySpace. This is significant because members who are found to be in violation of these terms of service can have their websites deleted and may be banned from the community. The terms of service should be reviewed carefully to determine which types of activities, in relation to advertising, are permitted and which activities are prohibited. Special attention should be paid to the section of the terms of services which specifies member websites are not to be commercial in nature. It might be necessary to contact MySpace directly for ask for clarification of this section and additional information on what constitutes a commercial website.

Appearing Unprofessional

Another potential pitfall to advertising on MySpace is appearing unprofessional. MySpace websites can be created very quickly and easily through available templates. This may result in some members becoming overly anxious to start advertising immediately. When this happens the members may be sloppy in their design and may create a website with many errors which does not present a professional appearance.

Additionally, MySpace is a rather relaxed community where members often use slang or abbreviations haphazard. This practice can also create an unprofessional appearance which may alienate some potential clients. Also, MySpace members must consider the comments left for them by other members of the community. The individual who maintains the website should understand the comments left for them are considered by others to be a reflection of them. Therefore those who do not think highly of the comments left on your website are not likely to think highly of you or your business either. For this reason care should be taken to maintain a lee of control over the comments left for you. This can be done either by not allowing comments at all or by only allowing comments that receive your approval to appear on your website.

Engaging in Spamming techniques

One of the most dangerous pitfalls those who advertise on MySpace might encounter is spamming. Before advertising care should be taken to review MySpace's policy on spam to ensure the advertising techniques you are using are not considered to be spam by MySpace. This is important because those who are found guilty of spamming may have their account and website deleted. They may even be banned from creating a new account in the future.

Also, potential customers are not likely to think highly of a business that they view as engaging in spamming techniques. These customers are likely to purchase products and services from other providers who they believe run a more honest marketing campaign. Spamming can therefore be a very costly mistake for business owners. <bio>David Riewe is the webmaster of http://www.daves-inforama.com and http://www.daves-inforama.com/myspace </bio>

There are a lot of Search Engine myths in existence today. This is because there are a lot of self appointed experts in the Search Engine optimization field. Some of the myths that you should be aware of include:

• There is no way to perfectly optimize for every site. • There are 10,000 different Search Engines in existence. • Page Rank is dead. • Make sure that you repeat your keywords 100 times per page. • The Search Engines do not have time to ban you for poor optimization. • Make sure that you submit your site to every Search Engine in existence. • Your site does not have to have content in order to be ranked high. • Meta tags are extremely important. • You just need to get more links to your site. • You do not have to have patience in order to do Search Engine optimization. • If you have a new site it cannot get listed in the Search Engines. • You need to have multiple domain names. • You should resubmit your site to the Search Engines every week or at least every month.

If you find that someone is telling you all of this stuff then you should run away from him or her. You should never pay any attention to Search Engine myths. All you should concern yourself with are the techniques that have been proven to increase a web site's ranking.

Unfortunately a lot of unethical, unprofessional business practices occur in the Search Engine optimization industry. A lot of this is happening because of inexperienced and unprofessional people working in the industry. This is unfortunate because then everyone in the Search Engine optimization business gets a bad name.

It is important that you get the facts. If you want to have a good Search Engine optimization campaign then you do not want to become a victim of these bad business practices. Make sure that you do not throw your money away on these practices when investing in good marketing, advertising and content could better spend it.

Now that you are aware of some of the Search Engine myths that exist today you should be able to spend your time and money wisely. This will truly pay off in the end when you look at how you rank in the Search Engines. <bio>New to SEO?
Having a store on eBay is an exciting venture, at least at the outset. You have visions of millions of eBay buyers who will be visiting your store, buy from you, and the money will just pour in.

Anyone who has had an eBay store knows better. Competition is very tough. It takes hard work and a lot of marketing to drive traffic to your eBay store.

Then, when people do arrive at your eBay store, what do they see? Do they see the run of the mill, the andquot;me tooandquot; look, the amateurish storefront that many, if not most, eBay stores present to the world?

You have only one opportunity to make a first impression. In a second or two, the eBay buyer is going to categorize you into professional or amateur, into trustworthy or dodgy.

Here are five basic things you must do right to give you the best chance of survival.

Number One: Treat Your eBay Store as a Serious Business

So many eBay stores appear to have been hastily bolted together, almost as if it were something that the eBay seller did late one Sunday evening. Nobody wants to buy from somebody who appears to be in it just for the money. An unprofessional eBay storefront gives the impression of an unprofessional eBay seller who simply wants to take people's money and run.

Number Two: Portray Yourself as a Knowledgeable Professional

It is astounding how few eBay sellers make use of the About Me page. That one page has the ability to either establish or destroy your credibility. The page gives the eBay seller the opportunity to tell the eBay buyer why she should buy from him. Look at it from an eBay buyer's perspective. You would much rather buy an item from somebody who clearly knows something about the item, than from someone who doesn't. More importantly, you would much rather repeatedly buy from someone who is knowledgeable about the particular item or category of item.

You might be a guru. Nobody will know it if you do not tell them.

Number Three: Give all the Necessary Information to Facilitate Buyer Decision

Remember, the eBay buyer is forking out hard-earned cash for your item. You need to give them the required business information to ensure them that: a) they are paying a fair or better price, b) they are getting value for money, c) they won't get any nasty surprises of hidden costs, and d) they can get their money back if they are not satisfied with the purchase.

That's the purpose of eBay Store Policies.

Number Four: Give Special Attention to your eBay Storefront Above the Fold

It's that first impression issue again. What do eBay buyers see when they land on your main storefront page? Do they see a tacky image? andquot;Unprofessional, see ya,andquot; hit the back button! Do they see the most expensive items at the top of the list? andquot;Expensive, andquot; hit the back button! Of course, YOU would want an eBay buyer to see your most expensive item first. However, is that what the eBay buyer wants to see? Probably not.

Number Five: Make It Easy for the eBay Buyer to Find Items

You are one amongst thousands. Unless you are selling something completely unique, nobody is going to take an hour, or half an hour, or ten minutes, or even one minute, to try and find an item in your eBay store that they could also find somewhere else.

Wisely use the categories and promotion boxes of your eBay store. The categories are like aisles in your eBay store. You do not want to force people to rummage through the entire store if they came for a specific item. Why not? Won't they see other things they might want to buy? The answer is, because they won't. They will just leave and look somewhere else until they easily find what they are looking for.

Conclusion

It might sound very tough, but if your eBay store is failing or is struggling to get off the ground, the reason is probably you. Are you treating your eBay store as a serious business? Are you portraying yourself as a professional and knowledgeable business person? Are you presenting the best image possible and are you making it as easy as possible for the eBay buyer to buy from your eBay store? Think about it. <bio>Jason Griffith writes eBay Store reviews for http://BestAuctionStores.com at http://www.bestauctionstores.com/, a site dedicated to providing eBay Store Owners with reviews and feedback about their stores. </bio>

If you are in the process of writing your resume, you should be aware of some caveats in creating your own resume. Remember that your resume is the first impression you will make on your prospective employer. This could be the one shot you have to land the job of your dreams. An unprofessional resume may dash those hopes despite the fact that you may be the most qualified candidate for the job.

One important resume writing tip is to never put down anything negative about past employment experiences. This not only goes during the resume writing process, but also during your interview. Everyone has negative experiences during employment and, we may as well face it, if our current position was a paradise, chances are we would not be looking for a new job. Leave the negativity out of both your resume and your interview. This is perhaps the most important resume writing tip you can learn.

Another important resume writing tip is to leave out any insignificant details about your life that do not matter to the present job. It is not important that you are the president of the Knitting Club if you are applying for a position at a bank. The only way this would be relevant is if you were applying for a job at a knitting shop. Hobbies and personal information such as how many children you have, your marital status and age have no place on your resume.

Do not put anything about salary or wages in your resume. This is highly unprofessional and an important resume writing tip. Salary is often discussed during the interview process and is never acceptable to be presented on a resume. Past salary is also included. If you fill out a job application, you will often be asked your salary that you earned on previous jobs, but a resume is different than a job application. It is a professional introduction to a prospective employer. It is a faux pas to put a salary requirement on a resume and you should not be the first person to bring up salary during the interview process. Allow the employer to bring the matter up.

Another important resume writing tip is to not make your resume to flamboyant. There are many different templates out there for creating resumes and many different types of colored paper. While printing your resume on pink paper may certainly make it stand out among the others, it will also make your prospective employer think that you are unprofessional. Use traditional fonts and classic designs when printing your resume. If you are applying for a job in a creative field, you can get a bit creative with your resume, but not too much so. Remember, there is plenty of time to express your creativity after you have attained the job.

Do not list references on your resume. This is yet another important resume writing tip. You can either list references on a separate sheet of paper or you can put down that they are available upon request. And references should be people who can vouch for both your professionalism, abilities and character.

While you want to be certain that you list all of your skills and abilities on your resume, be careful not to embellish. Saying that you know certain computer programs when you have no idea about how to use Excel is not a good way to get a job. One very important resume writing tip is not to embellish your skills or accomplishments on your resume. This includes your grade point average or college degrees. It is relatively easy for an employer to check these things and it can prove embarrassing to be found out to be a liar. Also, if you get the job and do not know how to do the work, you may end up getting fired for being incompetent. This will not only be humiliating, but may destroy some chances of getting a job in the future as you will be hesitant to use the employer who fired you as a reference.

The last important resume writing tip is to be certain to include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address on your resume as well as your employment objective. Employers get hundreds of responses to ads all of the time and many people feel that if they put certain information in their cover letter, they do not have to reiterate on their resume. Oftentimes, the resume and cover letter are separated. Be sure to include all of your personal contact information as well as the job for which you are applying on your resume. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
You've just finished playing the piano for family members or some friends. If you've truly played poorly, the instinctive thing to do is to delve into a repertoire of excuses, some of which might include:

"Who can play at this time of day?"

"Of course that wasn't good. You try playing when someone in your audience has a whistling nose."

"I just started his piece last week. What do you expect, Liberachi?"

"Okay, so you try playing it. It's difficult, man!"

Although there may be truth peppered in these thoughts, the last thing that a pianist wants to do is to get into the habit of jumping into an excuse. It is unprofessional and, although beginners are by no means professionals, they must aspire towards the habit of behaving professionally for a smoother road in the future.

Almost worse than the `excuse for poor playing' statements, are excuses given when a performance is actually good. Not being able to take a compliment is one of the worst habits that you can acquire. Here's why.

If an audience member throws a compliment your way, they may actually be sincere, rather than just attempting to be nice. If you deny them their opinion, then you lesson yourself and them. Here's an example.

Audience member: "That was so great. I loved your playing."

Here are three atrocious responses:

"Oh, come on. I stunk! I can't believe anyone really liked that garbage performance."

"Ya, but did you hear all of those mistakes that I made? I'm so embarrassed."

"You're just saying that to be nice. You don't have to be nice, you know. Just tell me the truth for a change. My playing was terrible."

In the first response, you've destroyed your audience member's credibility. If they really liked your performance, then they've just told that person that their opinion is uninformed and blatantly incorrect.

In the second response, you've just told an unsuspecting admirer that you made a lot of mistakes. Perhaps they really didn't hear or focus on that aspect of your playing. You've now downgraded your performance. Your admirer may possibly be convinced that you did not play that well, after all.

The third response is downright offensive. Just because you've hit rock bottom in an emotional roller-coaster ride, doesn't mean that you have to take a passenger along with you on that ride.

So how can you rid yourself of excuses, and ineffective and unprofessional responses? That's easy. Practice stating the correct responses. For example, if someone asks you to play the piano and you don't play well, then try:

1. smiling at the end of the performance,

2. taking a bow even if you don't feel like it,

3. saying "there you go" or "thanks for letting me play for you".

Of course, if you played poorly to the point that you couldn't even get through the intended piece, then you can most certainly have a sense of humor about the situation without putting yourself down excessively. "Oops" or "Okay, I guess I need a bit more practice" are acceptable. However, the better solution would have been not to have played in the first place. Play only if you are very prepared mentally, physically and emotionally. <bio>If you enjoyed this article, then come and learn the basics of piano playing and music theory with us, in a fun filled environment great for all ages and levels. http://www.pianolessons101.com </bio>

Once you've accepted the offer with your new employer and set the start date, obviously the next step is to let your current employer know you'll be leaving. Write a brief <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/letter+of+resignation" rel="tag">letter of resignation (the operative word there is "brief").

If you feel a need out of loyalty or guilt to write anything more than a few short sentences, curb it. The only information your letter needs to contain are the following two (possibly three) items:

-- that you are leaving your current company -- what your last date of employment will be, and -- if you feel comfortable adding a sentence or two about how you enjoyed working for your current company, and you appreciate the opportunity to have been a part of the organization, tack that on

It should NOT include:

-- why you are leaving -- where you are going -- what you will be doing in your new position -- how much you will be making when you get there -- how bad you feel about leaving (or conversely, how glad you are to be going!)

Make an appointment with your boss and hand deliver the letter. Tell him verbally the same words that your letter says, because the face-to-face is courteous and professional, while the letter is a formality for record of your employment. And be prepared for one of three things to happen.

Either your boss will professionally acknowledge your resignation, say how sorry he is to have you go, and shake your hand, or he will become very silent - just before he asks you what it would take to keep you. Or quite possibly, he'll do the former, and you'll be asked to another meeting later so that he can find out what it will take to keep you.

If your company is truly professional, you'll resign, shake hands, and that will be that. But it doesn't always go down that way, which takes us into the second way to resign, which actually is in danger of not being a resignation at all. It only starts out that way.

The first thing you need to know is that a counter offer is NOT - IS NOT - a sincere and genuine statement of their desire to keep you around for as long as you might decide to stay should you change your mind and accept their counter offer.

What you've just done by resigning is put the company at a disadvantage. You are creating an opening within the company, and you've left your company at a loss. By resigning, you've basically said, "I'm not interested in this company any more." You've caused your loyalty to be questioned. You are in control, and they are not.

If your boss invites you in for a concerned chat, you're better off sounding like a broken record - repeating your "thank you" and "my last day is..." than you are involving yourself in what appears to be a caring conversation about your ensuing future.

It doesn't matter what you want or what you ask for, because they'll give it to you - in one form or another - or possibly offer you something tasty before you even speak up. After they've lulled and flattered you into submission, and as you walk out the door smiling, they're calling the newspaper or a recruiter and ordering up a confidential replacement.

In 25 years of recruiting - my firm, and working with other firms - I have never, ever, ever seen an accepted counter offer work in favor of the individual.

Don't, for a minute, think I am being overly dramatic. A counter offer is a complete and 100% appeal to your ego and an attempt to push your guilt button. It's unprofessional of your company to attempt it, and it's unprofessional (and ill conceived) of you to take it.

It might be a month, or six months, but eventually, your next departure from the company will be on their terms.
Getting through the day is often a big challenge for internet marketers. One can easily squander a lot of time answering e-mails, fulfilling orders, and updating your customer lists. This won't make more people buy or bring in new traffic. How can you manage to get all the necessary grunt work done and still improve your product or service, increase traffic, or campaign a new idea?. Automation is the key to running your business and growing it at the same time.

There are five benefits to automating your online home business:

* Get sales on your products and/or services 24 hours per day 7 days per week that will bring in more profit.

* Have excellent credibility with your customers by having instant responses to his or her inquires for more information.

* Increase sales potential by answering questions quickly.

* Provide instant order confirmation that will keep customers coming back and telling others about you.

* Increase your sales by up-selling back end products automatically.

In automating your online home business, make sure to choose the appropriate tools. Here are six essential tools:

* A reliable and easy to use autoresponder. Your autoresponder acts much like a personal secretary operating 24/7. This helps you maintain consistent follow up with your prospects.

* An mlm lead capture page helps in automating your online home business. A good lead capture page has some attractive bullets on it, and does a thorough job of explaining what the reader will be able to access after she enters her data.

* A duplicable system for generating leads on an ongoing basis. Leads are the lifeblood of your online home business. Your lead generation system should be uncomplicated, easy to teach and allow you to not only generate leads, but to also automate the qualification process.

* Ad tracking software. A good ad tracking software program or service will show you how many clicks you get for your advertisements from which sites and sources. This will help in automating your online home business by giving you instant information about how your advertisements and advertising campaigns are doing.

* A reliable and professional voice mail service. I sometimes come across unprofessional voice mail greetings when calling prospects. You want to always get all of your messages. An unprofessional sounding greeting may cause some people to hang up without leaving you a message.

* A success-activity schedule will also help you in automating your online home business. I teach my business partners to follow a schedule that involves repeating certain activities over and over. A schedule helps you stay consistent, see what you may have missed and to plan for the maximum leverage of your time.

Automating your online home business is essential for achieving maximum leverage, focusing on the core money making activities and keeping on track.
If you own and operate a professional carpet cleaning company and do not clean upholstery you should seriously consider adding it to your services. It is a great revenue source that will dramatically help your profits. If you think you might want to add it you should read this short article which will give you some tips to help make it easier.

The number one tip is to take an upholstery cleaning class. This is the single most important thing you can do because upholstery cleaning is much more complicated than carpet cleaning. You could easily find yourself buying an expensive couch if you do not watch yourself. An upholstery course is a cheap investment in your companies future so call your supplier and find out when the next available course will be.

The next tip is to not skimp on upholstery cleaning supplies. If you already have a portable or truck mounted carpet cleaning machine you could get started with a simple and cheap upholstery tool. This might be a bad idea for several reasons. First off you want a tool that is user friendly. You will be using it at times for hours on end and you want something that is ergonomic so that your hand will not fatigue. Trust me on this one. Also you will find that cheap tools have rougher edges that could snag furniture and do not have things like vac reliefs which can be helpful.

My last tip is to invest in a good tarp. I have seen many cleaners either not use one or use a blanket. Blankets can soak though and even bleed dye on the carpet while tarps do not. And do not even think of not using a tarp. It looks unprofessional and you could end up damaging some flooring.

That is all I have for you. Take a good course and you will learn many more tips from your instructor that will help you. Good luck. <bio>Go to http://www.thecarpetcleanerlist.com/rochester.htm for more tips on carpet and upholstery. </bio>

If you will not be hiring a professional Shih Tzu handler for the show ring, there are a few things you should know about how to protect yourself and your Shih Tzu so that neither of you are too discouraged right at the start.

Try to remember a judge's first and lasting impression of your Shih Tzu's temperament will be made the moment it walks into the ring. Do not carry your Shih Tzu into the ring to avoid getting its hair messed up. Let the judge see the Shih Tzu's gait as it walks into the ring. Do not drag the Shih Tzu behind you. It invariably will be a stressful 48 hour period for your Shih Tzu before the show. This time period will either be too hot, too cold or too rainy. A few hours before the show will involve your Shih Tzu having to stand rigidly on a crate, having its face and body sprayed with grooming substance that does not smell or taste very good. Your Shih Tzu may have to endure a session of sneezing while you brush their hair out to perfection. Then remember all the hours your Shih Tzu was in the bathtub and the grooming session the day before the show. What about the ride to the show? Was it over bumpy, uncomfortable roads? The 48 hours just before the show can be a drooling, torturous time for your precious Shih Tzu, soon to become a Show Dog Shih Tzu. Experienced judges know just what a Shih Tzu has to endure the 48 hours before show time. If your Shih Tzu can still strut into the ring after all this, the judge will have to know your Shih Tzu has an excellent disposition. This will be the judge's first impression. It will also be a very lasting impression.

Do not try to be first to enter the ring if you are a novice. It will be much more educational for you to get behind a more experienced exhibitor or professional handler where you can observe and learn ring behavior and procedures. When you do enter the ring with your Shih Tzu, do so quickly and calmly. Have your Shih Tzu on a loose lead. Watch for the first opportunity to show your arm band to the judge for check in purposes. Then get in the line-up already forming in the ring. This is usually at the opposite side of the judge's table. This move will give the judge a good opportunity to the second look at your Shih Tzu. Now, set your Shih Tzu up in a show pose.

As the judge goes up and down the line of Shih Tzu, maintain your Shih Tzu in a show stance. Do not brush the Shih Tzu's hair at this time. Do not be adjusting the Shih Tzu's feet, or tilting the head, or positioning the Shih Tzu's tail. By the time the judge reaches your Shih Tzu, the Shih Tzu should be standing as still as a statue with your hands off of it. If you show a lot of fussing over the Shih Tzu at this time it only calls attention to the fact that you are probably an amateur at this and you will be seen as nervously mishandling the Shih Tzu. A free, natural stance will be more appealing to the judge.

People play games in anything that is competitive to try and discourage a newcomer especially if the newcomer really has a good dog. This poses a threat to others who are competing with you and people do play games to try and make you or your Shih Tzu look bad.

These same kind of games are played in other arenas of the purebred dog sport such as what we have today on the internet with so many Shih Tzu dog websites springing up. People get jealous and feel threatened by what they see their competitors doing that may take away "something" from them. So they try and set up little games to make their competitors look bad or seem unworthy in the hopes that "the consumer" will pass up their competitors when it comes time to purchase Shih Tzu puppies.

I suppose if it works in the world of politics to bad-mouth your competitor and opponents, it should work in all other situations is the thinking of individuals who stoop to this type of a tactic. And you definitely will meet up with this type in the show ring as well.

Simply label these behaviors for what they truly are, which is "unprofessional." Don't be "unprofessional." Hold your head up high and always work as a true professional in anything you attempt to do in life. Do not join in with any kind of childish game playing. How you play your game is what will be remembered most.

This article is FREE to publish with resource box. <bio>Connie Limon is a Shih Tzu breeder.
So, you are in the process of creating your resume so you can acquire your dream job. Congratulations! Creating a resume can seem daunting, but has been made easier with the advent of the internet, word processing programs that have different resume format samples and resume software. Anyone with a computer can easily create their own resume, but must be sure to follow the different rules for creating a resume.

One resume tip that is very important is to make sure that you include all of your contact information at the top of your resume. Many people feel that because they are sending along a cover letter, they do not need to include their name, address, phone number and e-mail address at the top of their resume. What many people do not realize is that cover letters often get separated from resumes and there is nothing more frustrating to an employer than receiving a good resume that has all of the qualifications that he or she is looking for in an employee without a name or any contact information.

Another important resume tip is clearly state your objective. The prospective employee may have dozens of ads for employees advertised. How will he or she know what job you are applying for unless you state this in your resume? Under your name and contact information should be a heading about your career objective. You can actually separate this into two categories. One should be for the position which you are seeking. The other can be what you hope to attain in the future. If, for example, you are seeking the position of a newspaper reporter but aspire to be an editor or a features writer, this can be outlined in your resume as employment sought and career objective.

Still another resume tip is to make sure that you do not understate your past experience, including all of the tasks that you performed at your old job, or know how to perform, that pertain to the position which you are seeking. Many people include all of their tasks in a short paragraph, which does not impress many perspective employers. It is better to list all of the tasks and knowledge in bullet point format so that it makes it easier for the employer to see just what you can do. This is not the time to be shy or modest. Highlighting your accomplishments, knowledge and past experience can not be too underestimated when it comes to your resume.

Writing why you left your past job is not necessary to put on your resume. Use this as a tip as this is not necessary at all and considered unprofessional. You will most likely be asked why you left your prior employment during your interview. Do not badmouth your last place of employment, even if your boss was a reincarnation of Attila The Hun. Just say that you are seeking an opportunity for new growth.

Another important resume tip is not to discuss salary on your resume. Do not put down how much you are making at your current job or how much money you expect to earn at the new job. While some employers will ask that you state your salary qualifications in your cover letter, this is never acceptable on a resume. Many employees who ask that prospective employees state their salary requirements in their cover letter tend to pay low wages and do not want to waste their time with anyone who expects to be paid enough money to make a living. Never put salary information on your resume.

Still yet another important resume tip is to make your resume easy to read. Using colored paper, fancy fonts and photos may look really nice, but might seem overwhelming for an employer and they may consider you unprofessional. Use classic formats and traditional fonts to play it safe.

A resume tip that can not be too underestimated is to make sure that you put down your educational experience from the last college or university that you attended to the first. If you have a post graduate degree, that should come first under the Education heading, along with the degree and any awards. Your undergraduate university or college should come second along with degrees and accomplishments. Those with post graduate degrees do not have to put down their high school information.

While you do not want to give your prospective employer a book about your life in the form of a resume, nor do you want to cheat yourself out of outlining your skills and accomplishments. Do not hesitate to make your resume more than one page if your accomplishments, experience and education warrants this. It is better not to underestimate yourself than to keep your resume short and sweet. This is a very important resume tip.

When creating your resume, pay heed of the above resume tips and create a resume that will reflect all of the reasons why you are the correct person for the job as well as a resume that reflects your personality. One valuable resume tip is to be sure that you present your best qualities and allow them to shine through when you are eventually called for an interview. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Business is all about networking, right? Plus, you likely know that you need to get some links to your website to build traffic. Since you're a pro blogger, of course the first place you look for those much needed links is the blogosphere.

However, some manners are in order when it comes to posting comments and linking to your blog from other blogs.

It comes down to common courtesy. We've all heard the 'golden rule', right? Do unto others and all that jazz? The goal is for us to get a much needed backlink to our website, that's true. But that's not all we want. Spammy backlinks can be obtained pretty easily. There's even software out there that will blast your links to a million different blog posts comment areas. But it's not really what we want or need.

I'll tell you one reason why.

Before even thinking about the other guy's blog, and common courtesy, let's consider your overall professional appearance. Think of your backlink campaign as one big press release for a minute. If you were blasting a press release to the major news networks today, you would want to present a super professional appearance right? You would want the world to see you as the undisputed expert in your field, professional, classy, the very best. Right?

Then why would you use a different approach and spam your link across the blogosphere? Making you and your website (translate: your company) look cheesy and unprofessional? If you knew that was the way the world perceived you and your business, you probably would have thought twice about it before you used a link blaster and posted your link to a million spam blogs. The problem is that many businesses and many bloggers don't think the internet is part of 'the real world'. They don't stop and think about the fact that their actions on the web can have the same negative impact that they would have in the real world when it comes to cheesy and sleezy promotion tactics.

Nope, the internet is different in their eyes. They only know they need a bunch of links. It's not important to them to build an overall web persona. PR is not a concern. But it should be. Because the web is no different than any other advertising medium. People are people, and if they read crappy comments that make you and your company look bad, they are not going to do business with you.

Now, let's also consider the other blogs out there and some basic manners. In the real world, that is the one that doesn't have a keyboard attached to it, you need to have some etiquette when it comes to business networking, right?

For example, if you are a member of the local rotary club, you don't walk into the meeting each week shouting, "Make $5,000 every day using my secret methods"!

Do you?

No. You network. You shake everyone's hand and say hello. You get into conversations and have intelligent discussions. You add something to the group as a whole. When asked, you give your expert advice and opinions and you build new relationships that turn into new client relationships.

So why would you do it any differently online?

When working on links from other blogs and other business communities, have the same manners you would if you were in that rotary club meeting. Be a contributing part of the conversation. Get involved and work on your professional appearance at the same time. Post relevant comments to the current discussion. Don't interrupt like a thirty second commercial break, changing the topic so that you can promote your new product or service. Stay on topic and contribute something useful.

It's o.k. if you don't agree with someone. Good debate can be good for business. Some people will agree with you and visit your site based on your professional opinions. But only if your argument is written professionally and with some class. Stay out of name calling sessions and stay away from labels. Don't call anyone an idiot or a moron. In the end, you end up looking like one.

Your comments are mini press releases. They are little road signs showing how professional you are. Or how unprofessional you are. Your public appearance is up to you. So have some courtesy when posting your comments. It will make the difference when it comes to how successful your linking campaigns are.<bio>Chuck Crawford is an established expert in web design, traffic development and website financial analysis.
When running a business you have to worry about many different aspects of your business to make it successful. You have to worry about payroll, rent, product development, and following governmental guidelines. However the most important part of your business is actually selling your product to your customers. Without sales your business will fail in a very short period of time.

The hardest part of selling your product is getting the attention of your customer. The world is full of many different stimuli, so somehow you need to make sure that your product stands out and grabs the attention of your prospective customers. The easiest and most efficient way of doing this is to have eye-catching pictures in your advertising and on your web site. To do this you will need to hire a professional photographer to help you decide what pictures are needed and how to take the pictures that you need.

A professional photographer has a lot of experience in setting up and choosing pictures that will give you the exposure that your product needs. Professional photographers go to school to learn their craft, and then after they are part of the workforce, they continue to learn new techniques so they can stay on top of all of the current trends.

You might have a great idea for a picture for your business, but a professional photographer can take your idea and actually bring it to fruition. They will also usually tweak your idea a little bit to try to take advantage of some of the current trends in the advertising world.

If you try to take the pictures yourself, you will quickly see that the quality of your advertising and your web site will turn out very unprofessional looking. Professional photographers have a knack for making their pictures "pop", so that your prospective customers will be drawn towards your web site and your product, and might actually buy something. <bio>Find a creative commercial photographer to help your business at http://www.mandarichphotography.com/ </bio>

The answer is yes, but of course this does bring up some concerns. The dilemma of course has to do with whether or not those keywords will look unprofessional on your site on your not. Of course there are some kinds of sites that need to stay completely away from this including ones that sell dictionaries or books on English grammar.

The fact is that most people misspell things when they enter words into a search engine. A good example is a word such as housewife. People might spell it as house wife or even house-wife. The thing about this type of work that can have three or four variances in the way it is spelled is that sometimes it is the misspelled version that has more visitors. In other words it may not pay to be the Queen of the Spelling Bee so you just might want to check your search term popularity on the overture keyword inventory tool or with another tool to see which version of the spelling of housewife is the most searched for.

Let's use the example of the word housewife. To be on the safe side you should make sure that you optimize all three spellings of the word house wife and sprinkle them through your copy, metatags and captions as appropriate. The idea is not to put a big spelling mistake somewhere really obvious on your website such as in a title that is headed in a supersize font. In fact it might be a good idea to minimize the misspelt keywords in a smaller font or bury it somewhere in the site where the commonly applied typo is not so obvious to the critical human eye that you don't want judging you for not being able to spell. <bio>Christopher Angus is a SEO and Website Marketer.
The goal of article marketing, as with any marketing effort, is to get traffic to your site and converts, meaning making sales. Article marketing is able to accomplish this objective quite effectively. In fact, article marketing is one of the most effective means of marketing strategy in existence, and this has been so since the emergence of Internet Marketing.

We use article marketing to build trust and credibility with our readers by providing them with quality information that they can use. The key is to provide good quality information, but not to provide a mixture of everything there is on the topic in one article, or in any articles that you submit.

By doing this, you are not doing your readers a disservice. You are leading them to get the rest of the information from your website, for which you will provide a link in your author's resource box at the end of the article.

A typical article that is submitted is between 300 and 500 words in length. From there, the reader should be directed to a link to your sales page as in your website for an additional 300 to 500 words.

You may also promote products directly in your article content, but the information must remain informative and does not come off as a sales letter. Making use of an article to disguise as a sales letter article will not help you at all. If anything, it will make you look unprofessional, damaging your credibility in the process.

The same applies to your resource box. There should not be a sales pitch in your resource box. It should be actual information about you, not more than a paragraph long in length, with a link to your website at the end informing the reader that they can learn more about the topic in question from your website.

Take note, the idea is to establish and present yourself as an expert in the field, to inform the reader, and then to direct them to your website for more information. The article is to provide only good quality information, the selling is done at the website! <bio>CW Teo established http://www.eLearningGetRich.com as his Home Based Business.
Increasing your sales lead list using myspace is a very effective method. Myspace has a huge network of people. Using myspace to create your leads is a very smart way to build your business. Many people are advertising using myspace. There is a correct way and incorrect way to advertise on myspace. We will go over the two.

Using myspace to increase your sales lead list is just like using a forum to create leads. The key is building a relationship first. So first signup for a myspace account. Make sure that you add a picture because it helps build trust if people can see you. It will also look really awkward if you do not have a picture up. Next add some information about yourself. For example, what you do for a living, what businesses you are apart of, etc. Keep your myspace page looking professional especially if you are trying to advertise your business. There is nothing worse than someone trying to sell a product with an unprofessional page.

Now it is time for you to network. First off, find your target audience. So if you are selling rims, look for people who are into cars. After you've built your network, start establishing relationships. If you build your network and send out bulletins without the relationship being in place, expect a poor response. Also people may kick you out of their network. Always try to focus your conversations towards your products. So if you are selling rims, try to talk about cars and rims.

After you have established relationships, then go ahead and send out bulletins to your network. Also have your network advertise for you. Just like an affiliate program but it is on myspace. Give them commissions or discounts for advertising for you. Lastly if you do not want to take the time to build relationships, find people with huge networks and huge page views. Offer to pay them to advertise on their page. It is a lot cheaper than advertising directly with myspace. Using myspace to increase your sales lead list can bring in many leads if used properly. <bio>To get more techniques to increase your sales lead list, visit http://www.leadgenerationworld.com.
When you run a home based business it can be very easy for you to perform your job functions and your living functions in the same room. Before you know it, youre working on the home computer out of your bedroom, using your kitchen as a warehouse, and using your livingroom floor to spread out all of your filing and paperwork to help you find that one file you are looking for.

1. Keep It Separate

If you can, keep your work and your life separate. The absolute best thing you can do is to have a two-story house, using the bottom level for your business and the top level for your home. If you can't achieve that, then you will have to set up some other boundaries. A room divider can be a great way to divide a space if you plan on dividing a room into two portions. If you can, label rooms as either work rooms or personal rooms. Not only will this help you to keep organized but you will be able to confidently prove to the government that a specific percentage of your home is being used exclusively for business. This means that you can write off that percentage of your mortgage or rent.

2. Separate Work Time Also, Play Time

Have a daily schedule of when you will work and when you will be doing personal things. For example, you can say that you will work 9 - 00-5 - 30, or if you want to get up earlier, 7 - 00-3 - 30. In this way you can keep track of your billable hours if you are providing a service from home. In any case, without a plan youre inevitably going to do far too much work or far too little.

3. Define The Lines

For those that have a family, you will definately want to separate the time you spend with your family and the time you spend working. When your children end up needing attention while you are working with customers you will undoubtedly come off as unprofessional. Your clients may think twice about doing business with someone that has other obligations to attend to. In general, make sure your family knows business rooms are off limits at all times.

4. Get A Second Phone Line Also, Answering Machine

If you don't already have both of these, you will want to pick them up right away. An answering machine will allow you to follow up on business leads that you would otherwise not recieve when you are out of the office. More importantly, a second phone line will allow you to place customers on hold so you can deal with more than one simultaneously. <bio>For more great working related articles and resources check out http://workathomeadvice.info </bio>

Part of having a cohesive blog design is to choose one or two fonts and two to four colors and stick with them on your site. The best looking sites are minimalist in design. A site that has too many different types of fonts and colors on it just looks unprofessional.

It is also helps to choose colors that suit your subject areas. Cooler colors such as blues and grays tend to suit blogs that are of a technical, political or authoritative nature. Warmer colors seem to suit more casual subjects. For instance a pink and yellow themed site is more suited to a blog about baby showers than it is to a rant about human rights abuses in Africa.

In general the smaller and more classic your font is, the more it implies authority and respect. An example is Times New Roman or Bookman. Arial, Verdana and Helvetica are middle of the road fonts that are offered with most blog templates as a standard font. The shorter, squatter and larger the font, the less professional your blog will look.

Additionally it is best to stick with fonts that most people would have on their computers. Keep in mind that if a computer cannot read a font it will put your site on a default font so it can be read. This can knock your layout out of alignment and give it an unattractive appearance on other people's computers. Fonts that any computer can read include Arial, Verdana, Times Roman, Times New Roman, Georgia, Palatino and Tahoma. Keep your layout as simple as possible to avoid distortion of it on other people's computers as well.

One warning is to stay away from the black hat SEO technique of making your keywords the same color as a web page. The search engine spiders are on to this technique and will penalize your site for it. <bio>Christopher Angus is a SEO and Website Marketer.
