There is very little in the world of dating that has been the butt of more jokes, and the source of more fear than the blind date.

There are really two major types of blind dates. The first type is when the parties have not only never actually seen each other, but have never talked, nor have they as much as shared an email. This is really going in blind. There is concern not only over the obvious physical appearance issue, but also about the character and intelligence level of the potential date. Quite obviously, the chance that the date might turn out to be a total disaster is very high.

In the other type of blind date, it is only physical appearance that is in question. It is surprising how much one can learn with a simple phone call, or an evening in chat or instant messenger with a potential date. The idea is that the more you learn of a person's heart, soul, and mind, the less important his physical appearance becomes. In a sense, you have really met the person, but now you are going to see the package in which they are wrapped.

Most likely, the odds of a successful blind date are going to be in proportion to the degree that physical appearance is of importance. The success of the date is going to depend very much on the first impression.

It is an adverse reaction to one's appearance that could make that first impression negative. It may be that people who obsess on appearance would do better in dates where a little less "blind" was involved.

However, if you have a bit more depth to your evaluation process, and are willing to find out what is inside a person before you decide if you like them, then blind dates should hold little terror. The trick is to let your expectations stay a bit low, and then you have a chance of hitting the jackpot, without taking too much risk. It might be a good idea to pay a bit more attention to your own appearance prior to the date. You can't really be all that sure the other party is going to be as open minded as you. <bio>Ron Zvagelsky has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Just because a blind date went wrong there is no need to give up on them all together. Here are four useful tips to follow if you want to stop your blind dates from ending up as disasters.

1. Do some checking before you see each other.

Don't meet up with your date without knowing a little about the person. Take time to speak on the phone or exchange emails with each other in advance. This way you will get a general idea of the person you will meet and you will be less anxious on the actual day.

2. Plan on a casual setting rather than a formal affair. It is not a good idea to see each other for the first time at a formal restaurant. That would make it even more awkward. A park or a café will allow you to relax a little more and encourage conversation.

3. First impressions are hard to overcome so although you want to be comfortable, don't be too informal. Don't meet a person in gym clothing, for example. You shouldn't be overdressed either. Men, it would be better if you didn't turn up in a suit and bow tie and women any suggestive clothing can wait for the sixth date when you know things are going well. You can show your personality through your attire but don't go too far.

4. Mind your manners.

Bad blind dates happen. Sometimes, you can see it just won't work off the bat. But keep an open mind. It may just be a bad day or maybe its the weather. If you have an open mind who knows what will happen and at the end of the day, you won't make the situation worse for the both of you. Relax and enjoy the day as it comes. <bio>Jennifer Flanders is a staff writer at http://matchmaking-guide.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites, including http://www.wedding-digest.com. </bio>

Hold'em Poker has, in a few short years, exploded into the most popular poker variation of the game and Texas Hold'em is a game that started some time in the early twentieth century. However, it is only in the last five or six years that Texas Hold'em has mesmerized poker players and taken over poker rooms just about everywhere poker is played.

No-Limit Texas Hold'em is the mainstay of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) which is the highest profile event in the history of the game and is televised around the world. Texas Hold'em is the main game played in the World Poker Tour (WPT) that promotes worldwide poker tournaments. Celebrity tournaments particularly as held in Las Vegas, feature Texas Hold'em and are extremely popular with spectators. In fact, Texas Hold'em tournaments have become highly popular spectator sports and are televised to enthusiastic audiences.

Assuming you are acquainted with traditional poker, here is the basic Texas Hold'em play:

You are dealt two personal cards face down and five cards are placed face up in the center of the table for use by all the players. These are the community cards.

You make the best five card hand using your two personal cards and any combination of the five community cards.

There are four betting rounds. Unless you are in a no-limit game, the first two bets will have a set limit -- for example, two dollars. The next two bets have a limit of four dollars. Betting or raising for each round cannot exceed the pre-set limits.

The first two bets are called "blind" or "posted" bets. The first player to the left of the dealer places a "small blind" or minimum bet which is half the maximum -- or $2. The next player to the left of the minimum blind poster places the "big blind". The maximum allowed in this case is four dollars. No other bets are made. Once play begins, the deal rotates around the table and each player, in turn, will act as the small blind, big blind and eventually as dealer.

The game starts with the first small blind player receiving the first card face down and the deal revolving around the table with the last card taken by the dealer. The deal revolves around the table again with each player receiving the second card face down.

The first round of betting begins with the player to the left of the big blind either calling or raising within the pre-set game limits. Betting, calling or folding goes around the table until the small blind poster is reached. The small blind poster can call the bet since a blind was already posted. The big blind then has the option to raise or to "check".

Three community cards are then dealt face up in the center of the table. In Texas Hold'em terminology, this is known as "the flop". Bets are placed.

Next comes "the turn" or "fourth street", which means the dealer places the fourth community card among the first three cards. Again, bets are placed.

The fifth and final community card dealt is called "the river" or "fifth street".

To play Texas Hold'em well, basic strategies should be learned and practiced and for the serious player, extensive study of advanced game strategies is a must. <bio>Kenneth Bateman writes numerous articles on the subject of poker.
One of the most important parts of your house is your window. This connects you to the outside world when you are inside your house. It allows you to visualize what is outside your house without having to leave your home. This is why you need to decorate your window with designs that suits your taste.

However, during summer or sunny days, too much light might enter your house and sometimes, it can be irritating to both eyes and skin. You also need some privacy especially if you are with your family. This is why you need to cover your window with blinds.

Blinds are more popular than curtains. You will notice if you go out your house and visit some other house, most of the houses are using blinds instead of curtains. Public buildings and offices use blinds for privacy, protection and over all coverage. It comes with variety of styles, colors, shape and designs. These are called the window blind skin. You can always personalize the look of your window with window blind skin.

Blinds are longer lasting compared to any material made up of fabric. Blinds are easier to maintain, clean and it protects your furniture, carpets, figurines and many other materials found in your living room from the harmful and destructive bright ultraviolet rays from the sun.

Aside from this protection, it can give your home a sophisticated look according to the window blind skin you choose. There are plenty of window blind skins for you. You only have to be creative and have a distinctive taste in choosing which window blind skin is best for your home.

Of course, window blind skin must complement the color of your house. If your walls and ceilings are light colored, choose a dark colored window blind skin. If your house have light painted ceiling, furnishings and walls, choose a bright colored window blind skin.

It also depends on the theme of your room. For example, if your room's motif is color blue, choose a shade that will blend to the color you choose. Like if you have dark blue walls, bed and carpet, you can choose color like light blue to blend with its motif. This is great for offices, kitchen, comfort rooms and bed rooms.

The window blind skin depends on your artistic side. If you choose well, your blinds will not only serve as a cover to your window but a trendy design to your house. So choose the best design of window blind skin and add more life to your house. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. It may be used only in its entirety with all links included.
Many people enjoy the excitement that blind dating can offer. You're not sure who you'll meet, whether the two of you will "click," or how the date will end, but some find this unknown exciting. At the same time, many people avoid the world of blind dating specifically because of those same unsure feelings and unknown outcomes.

In many ways, purchasing insurance online is very much like blind dating. Sure, you've seen the insurance company's Web site or, at the very least, online advertisement. Sure, a friend or two has told you the insurance company is worth a try. And sure, what you see may look pretty good on the outside. However, purchasing insurance online poses the same unsure feelings and unknown outcomes as blind dating. The difference is that those unsure feelings and unknown outcomes can end in a disaster to which even a blind date with a polyester-wearing, chest hair-bearing guy who's old enough to be your dad can't compare. Blind dating with an insurance company can cost you much more ill-spent time and money. Luckily, you can avoid the disappointments of blind dating when shopping for insurance online.

Your decision to give a particular insurance company a try must be based on more than just the insurance company's Web site or advertisement, what your peers have described it, and how attractive it may seem at the time. If an insurance company you see online catches your eye, give them a call.

Speak with a live insurance agent about the different kinds of insurance policies available. Ask questions about everything from the cost to the coverage; you may want to jot the questions down before you call the insurance company in order to ensure you cover all grounds. Ask the insurance agent to send you written material about the insurance company and the different kinds of policies they offer, especially if you're interested in a particular insurance policy. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Student-Health.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ </bio>

When you know what you will do next, you can use these to indicate your next action prior to the bet reaching you. These advance action options will always present the correct options for the context of the play. Using Advance Action buttons will help keep the pace of the game exciting.

All-in: When you run out of chips during a hand, but don't wish to fold, you are all-in. This means you have the potential to win a share of the pot up to and including your last contribution to that pot. You cannot share in any bets added beyond that point. These bets form a side-pot. The all-in is also used for situations where a player in a hand loses connection to the server.

Ante: The small stake required from each player to participate before a hand is dealt. The ante is used in 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud High/Low on our site. In Hold'em and Omaha, a blind is used as opposed to an ante. The ante is not part of a player's bet whereas a blind is.

Avatar: A term from computer gaming for an image or figure used to represent a person.

Away-from-table: In tournaments, you may not "sit out". Rather, you may be "away-from-table" which means your are dealt into every hand, posting blinds when your turn, and then folded when there is a raise before the flop, or a bet after the flop. When you are in a tournament and need to leave, time-out, or lose your connection, you are automatically marked as "away-from-table".

Bad Beat: to be a heavy favorite in a hand and lose to an opponent who was a severe underdog statistically speaking

Bet the Pot: This term is used in pot limit games. It means your bet matches the current amount in the pot. If, when your turn to bet, the pot was at $217, and you bet the pot, your bet is $217.

Big Blind: In games using a blind to put money in play, the big blind is generally equal to the lower amount of the stakes for that game. In a $5/$10 game, the big blind is $5. The big blind follows the small blind, which is put up by the first player to the left of the dealer.

Blind: This term refers to the required bets, called the small blind and the big blind used to put money into play. The blinds are mandatory bets and rotate around the table.

Board: The community cards in Hold'em are collectively known as the board.

Bring-in: In ante games, the bring-in is a mandatory bet, normally half the lower stake value. The player with the lowest face-up card must either bet the lower stake, or the bring-in to start the hand.

Buddy List: A feature of our poker room allowing players to identify other players, with permission, as buddies. Buddies will be marked to reflect which table they are playing at, making it easier for you to find the people you enjoy playing poker with.

Burn: In physical poker rooms, the top card of the deck is discarded prior to each round of dealing. The intent is to minimize the risk of cheating by knowing the next card. There is no possibility of this happening in our poker room, therefore we do not burn cards.

Button: A marker, usually disk-shaped, to indicate which player is the virtual dealer. The button is used in games where position relative to the dealer is important.

Buy-in: There is a minimum chip value required to sit at any given table. Normally the minimum is 10 times the higher stake for that game. For some special games, that value may be higher. The minimum value required to be seated is called the buy-in. The amount of money you sit down in a game with. All games have a minimum buy-in, typically 10 times the big blind. <bio>For more poker information go to http://www.kasinoonlinepooker.com </bio>

Venetian blinds are very ideal alterative for curtains made up of cloth. Venetian blinds have easy open and close mechanism to let and to bar light to pass through the windows.

Venetian blinds are thin sheets of any material that are connected together by a string. Mostly of the Venetian blinds are made up of hard plastics. There are also versions of Venetian blinds that are made up of aluminum or any plastic combinations. Since blinds have very thin blades that shut and open, the strength and durability of the blades is a top priority of the manufacturers. Because of that, they do not simply use materials that do not pass their quality check.

There are two parts in the Venetian blinds that are used to open and close it. One is the hanging stick that is being turned to open and close the blades of the blinds and the other one is the excess hanging string that is used to raise or pull the blinds up together. These two have special mechanisms that are placed on the upper portion of the blinds set. Basically, the one that lets the blind close, open and raise is the string that joins it together.

When blinds are always used everyday, the mechanism embodied in it may lower its function. This may be caused by the dust that can form on the small portion where the mechanism is located. When things like this occur you do not repair your Venetian blind rather what you are going to do is to simply clean it.

Venetian blinds usually have warranties. The warranty may include miscarriage if delivered or mechanism failure before a certain date covered by the warranty. The very common wreck that may occur in a Venetian blind is on the blades. Most of the time, plastic when over-exposed to sun becomes brittle and later on will corrode. That is too difficult to repair since you cannot find any spare to change for several affected blades.

The next common trouble in the Venetian blinds is the string failure. Most of the time, because of the tension on the string during lifting, the string after some time might break. You can easily repair this by connecting the broken string together by tying it up or by using a strong adhesive. When the hanging rod does no longer turn smoothly, the problem maybe on the gear on the upper portion of the blinds set. Just simply apply a little of lubricant in it so it will again turn smoothly.

Always make sure that your blind is free of dust. It protects from sunlight. It is called a blind as it blocks the view from outside. It also gives privacy.

Wood vertical blinds have parallel slits that coincide when it's shut. Different materials like wood, metal or fabric that's solidified are used for making such slits. These slits are adjusted in different ways. E.g. sometimes they are rolled up while sometimes they are spiraled at 90 degrees.

Classifications

Different classes of wood vertical blinds can be found. E.g. a particular class of wood blind that was made in 1770 in Venice, Italy is called by the name of Venetian blind. It has been named in recognition to its place of birth.

A specific form of this Venetian blind is the mini blind. It consists of slits that taper-off and is a smaller sized version of the Venetian blind. You can also find solid blinds which block outside light from entering. These are kept rolled or folded up. Such categories are named as window shade.

Constituents

Sometimes wood from linden tree which is generally found in North America, Asia, Europe and Mexico is used to prepare wood blinds. Brass wood is given by this tree's lumbar. Though brass wood is weightless and soft-grained, it has the unique characteristic of being sturdy and having great strength. This special characteristic helps it to bear the wear-and-tear of daily routine.

Resonant arrangement of brass wood elicits slight trace of coloring and obscurity. Aspen gives a homogenous shade along with brightness and natural tarnish. A balanced and resilient image is created by poplar.

In which way does it function?

A connector fixed to a string rotates the blind. Previously, using a cord, it was pulled up and down. But thanks to advanced technology, at present, motorized connectors do the job.

A room gets a complete new definition owing to wood vertical blinds. These blinds not only enhance the room-décor manifolds but also provide protection from heat and sunlight. Till date, they are recognized as the supplest way of managing sliding windows and doors. <bio>Haneef Sidique is involved with an online wood blinds project that informs and educates the wood blinds enthusiast through well-written articles.
Posting blinds is a very important aspect of the betting structure of Texas Hold'em poker. It keeps the action in a poker game moving and influences the way people play the game, including whether or not they will fold, check or increase their bets. As the blinds increase, they can also make the game more exciting.

In Texas Hold'em there are two types of blind bets: the small blind and the big blind. These blinds are forced bets, which must be made by players who are participating in a hand. In Texas Hold'em, the dealer button indicates the position of the dealer and the dealing schedule; the button moves around the table to keep track of the dealer position. The small blind is always posted by the person to the left of the dealer. The big blind is always posted by the person to the left of the small blind. So, the onus for posting these bets is rotated as the dealer button moves around the table.

The small and big blinds are posted before the pocket hands are dealt, before the community cards are dealt and before the players have a clue as to the outcome of the dealing or the hand. Because they have made an initial investment in the hand, these players are then motivated to stay in the hand, even if they don't like their cards, in order to get a return. This becomes especially risky as the game progresses, others are eliminated and the blinds increase incrementally. At some point, the blinds will be so high, that paying them can break a player.

Normally, the small blind is half of the big blind and the big blind is the same amount as the minimum bet. In a Texas Hold'em tournament, these amounts are pre-determined. At the beginning of the tournament, the blinds will be a lower amount and will begin to increase as the tournament moves forward. The blinds are either increased after a pre-determined set period of time or after a pre-determined set number of hands. This increases the action of the game and eliminates any low-ranking players from the game.

Another forced bet that can be applied is called an ante. This can be used in addition to bets in a Texas Hold'em tournament. The ante is a pre-determined amount that each player must post before the cards are dealt. This can increase the action of the game and considerably increases the winnings in the pot before a hand has even begun. For instance, if the small blind is $20 and the big blind is $40 and the ante is $10 in a five player game, the pot already contains $110 before the cards are even dealt.

As you can see, forced bets are an important part of the betting schedule in Texas Hold'em style poker, needed to keep the game moving, eliminate straggling opponents and motivate betting. <bio>Cyman Harrison writes for several Texas Holdem websites including http://www.PokerTipsandStrategies.com which provides resources to help poker players improve their skills.
In no-limit Texas Hold'em there are many ways you can play pocket aces. Your positioning will of course affect how you bet them but in general most people raise pre-flop. Sometimes you might push all in if you're short stacked and try to entice some callers who think you're just trying to push them around. If you''re lucky they'll call and things will work out in your favor, but it doesn't always work out that way. When you push all in and someone calls you it's simply up to the gods. You can't do anything anymore. There's no chances for psychological warfare. The other person's KQ off suit could easily bring them two pair and your only hope is that the rest of the board pairs. You never know.

Statistically, your chances are best when you raise pre-flop. The question then remains, how much. Three times the blind is a standard raise. So, if the table is a tight table and no one really seems to be pushing anyone around then three times the blind is probably sufficient enough to push out the junk cards that you eliminate. If the table seems loose however you'll want to bump it up even more. Say five or six times the blinds. This will make people thoroughly examine their hands and decide whether or not they're willing to push it all in. Why I say this is because if you're willing to call something blind for five or six times the blind you have to be willing to also take it to the end which may or may not mean pushing all your chips. If you're not willing to do this from the start you shouldn't be calling. But none of that matters to you, heck, you want them to call because before the flop, you have the best hand.

Now a less conventional manner of playing is the "slow play". When you''re slow playing your cards you might just call the blind or raise the blinds one time, a "baby bump". This is my preferred method of playing when I have a sizable stack of chips or have just been seated at a new table because it makes me come across as less threatening. No one suspects you then. If you raised a hand like A 10 three times the blind earlier in the game and then you just call or do a baby bump with your aces, no one will ever know. The risk in slow playing is that you'll let someone else catch something. If you just call then the blinds might have a 3 4 and the flop gives them a straight. Again, you never know. It's a risk. But on the upside, say you do a baby bump and there are four callers, including the blinds, and the flop comes J 2 7. There are no flush draws possible and obviously no straight possibilities except for a runner, runner pull which is highly unlikely. You have the perfect set up to pull a lot of cash out of this hand. Small bets, enough to keep the majority of the players in but enough to make your efforts worth it. Or maybe you in the action seat of the dealer and can watch what everyone does. You might just call someone else''s bet, then on the turn raise their bet slightly. Slow playing pocket aces is risky but it can definitely be worth it. I've had hands that I walked away with five hundred dollars from a low limit table (a $50 buy-in table) because I slowly pulled it out of the other players. But the best part, was after that hand they had no idea how to read me. I never play a hand the exact same way so there's no sign as to what I have. Why raise pocket aces when you can raise pocket twos then hit a set on the flop and really screw their minds? Psychological warfare. <bio>More info at BodogLife Review, http://www.squidoo.com/us-online-poker and http://www.mmabettingblog.com/2007/07/15/how-to-bet-on-ufc-fights/ </bio>

It is a way to have fun or make a little or a lot of money.

Here's how:

The game is most commonly played with 2 to 10 players, although it can be played with as many as 22. Like with most poker games, the object is to win the pots, the amount of chips and/or money the players have bet in a hand. This can be accomplished in two ways. Either a player beats the others by having the best five-card poker hand at the end of a showdown, or a player causes the other plays to fold and abandon the pot through aggressive betting and bluffing techniques.

At the beginning of a hand, the two players to the left of the dealer are required to the pay the blinds -- two forced bets made in games that have a flop. In Texas Hold'em, there is normally a small blind and a big blind with pre-determined amounts. These blinds increase as the game moves forward, typically after set periods of time or after a certain number of hands.

In Texas Hold'em, a dealer button -- a certain designated chip -- is placed in front of the dealer to keep track of the blinds and the dealing schedule. This button rotates clockwise around the table, moving after each hand and changing who has to pay the small and big blinds.

The small blind is posted by the person directly to the left of the dealer and is usually equal to half of the big blind. The big blind is posted by the person to the left of the small blind and is normally equal to the minimum bet at first and then increases along with the minimum bet over the course of play.

Play begins when each player is dealt two cards face down. The cards are called pocket cards and are only revealed in some cases by the players in the showdown. The hand begins with blinds, as well as a pre-flop betting round, beginning with the player to the left of the big blind and continuing clockwise.

Then, assuming not all players have folded and at least two remain in the hand, the dealer places the flop on the table. The flop is made up of three face-up community cards that allow each player to form a five-card poker hand and is followed by a second betting round that begins with the player to the left of the dealer. A single community card, called the turn, is then placed on the table by the dealer and another betting round ensues.

Then, the final community card, called the river, is dealt, followed by another betting round and a showdown, if necessary. If at any time during the hand only one player remains, they collect the pot. However, if two or more players remain when betting ends, the players must compare hands to see who wins. <bio>Cyman Harrison - Stop Losing to Bad Beats and Win Every Time at Texas Holdem...Get Your FREE Copy of "Online Texas Holdem Secrets Revealed!" and Learn Secret Poker Strategies You Can Use to Dominate Your Poker Competitors Every Single Time! http://www.HoldemAdvancedStrategy.com/texas-holdem-secrets.html </bio>

A look at the history and development of blinds and how they are fitted.

As window coverings go blinds are some of the most widely used today. They vary in design immensely from fabric sheets to materials such as metal and wood as well as rollers, track blinds and even the Venetian variety. Their name is derived from their purpose as they actively blind the vision of anyone looking through the window. Typically they come in two varieties these are solid and slat, normally slat blinds can be aligned along the vertical and horizontal while solid blinds are normally along the vertical axis in the form of rollers. Both act to block light in room whilst creating privacy for the occupants.

Blinds have been prevalent throughout history in some of the largest and most widely known civilisations. Their first recorded use was by nomad tribes in the desert who used to cover their windows with sheets to keep the fierce desert sun out; additionally they would wet the blind to increase its cooling properties. The Egyptians also used blinds; this civilisation however instead of using sheets used reeds to block out the light whilst allowing cool air to pass through the building. The ancient Chinese used blinds but instead of constructing them from reeds used bamboo; additionally the Persians were also masters of blind construction.

The blind spread to Europe from Persia, traders bringing blinds from the east to Venice. This is where the name Venetian blind arises as they soon became fashionable in this city on water. These early varieties were made from strips of cloth and were raised by a string connection to each slat. The classic styling of the Venetian blind has remained although modern varieties tend to use metals such as aluminium and wood instead of fabric. This form of blind spread throughout Europe to cities such as Pairs where they became a highly fashionable window covering; it did however take the introduction to Britain to achieve the first truly modern blind, being produced and patented in London during the year 1769.

Modern blinds are normally fitted so they fit into the window recess, up against the wall for a snug fit that will block the largest amount of light. Not all windows will have recesses however but in this instance it is possible for a frame to be constructed for the blind, much like a curtain rail. While curtains and drapes are considered a more thermally efficient window covering modern blind variants are surprisingly adept at keeping the heat in. depending upon the materials some blinds have excellent thermal properties, keeping heat in during the winter months whilst keeping a house cool during the summer.

The latest development in blinds has been automation. While this has been in existence for some time it has only been through the development of more advanced, quieter motors that they have become a viable window covering option in the domestic sphere. In terms of controlling the blind this is normally carried out with a remote control, allowing the user to control the amount of light being let into the room from the comfort of a sofa. In addition, with those who have an understanding of computers and such, there is the opportunity to plug the blinds straight into a computer system, allowing the user to control their window coverings from their wireless laptop.

It is hoped this information has given an idea of exactly how the blind has evolved through the centuries. Today it is the window covering of choice for many designers offering chic lines and a modern, contemporary look.<bio>Interior design expert, Donald Donaldson, takes a look at the history and development of hilarys window blinds and how they are fitted.</bio>

Bamboo blinds are blinds made up of stems of bamboos. They come in a variety of sizes, colors or stains, patterns and folding styles. Bamboo blinds are very much effective in covering your window but letting a little light to pass through. This type of blind is very ideal if you want to have a brighter room without people pacing outside seeing you in the inside. Not to mention the great tropical feeling bamboo blinds can give.

Bamboo blinds are done by means of cutting bamboo stems vertically forming long sticks when mounted horizontally. After the bamboos are cut into sticks they connected together by a string. The folding patter of the bamboo blinds is very different from the usual modern Venetian blinds.

There are two major folding styles of bamboo blinds. One is the roll-up. Roll-up bamboo blinds are quite easy mechanism than the other style. Literally, a roll-up bamboo style is rolled upward to let light pass through. The second folding style is the Roman Folding Style. Roman folding style of the bamboo blinds was taken from other drapery blinds. Roman folding style in bamboo blinds has vertical folding orientation.

When buying bamboo blinds the size of your window is a big thing to consider. The bigger the size the more costly you are going to pay for the bamboo blinds. If in case you have a small window and you wish to make it look like a big one, you can do it by measuring the outside mount of the window. The outside mount of the window is the farthest limit of the window which includes the vertical window stills. If in case you have a big or wide window and you want it to look like a small one or else spend a little if you prefer using a bamboo blind, you can do it by measuring the inside mount of the window. The inside mount of the window does not include the vertical still of the window.

The inside and the outside mounts are the things you have to consider in measuring your window for a bamboo blind. When measuring your window for a bamboo blind use the standard measuring unit or if not know first the unit being used by the company you intend to buy bamboo blinds. Think about what you want your window to look like if you install a bamboo blind. Do you want it to look like a big window or the other way around?

Make sure that when measuring you only give a little allowance on the size so that you may not be charged with any extra cost due to extra lengths out of wrong measurement. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
Men living alone need not be holed in unkempt pads and live like Neanderthals. The recent metrosexual trend actually encourages men to be more stylish both in their looks and their lifestyle. However, this is not reason enough to totally give in and be regular Marthas. Interior decorators emphasize that the trick to decorating and styling men's pads is to maintain a balance of function, comfort, and masculine appeal. Speaking of masculinity, lacy curtains are definitely out for windows. Drapes may do but they require washing and at times, look heavy and dark. Most decorators' usual and common choice for window treatments for men are wood blinds because they are functional but sturdy enough to be masculine. They are the perfect alternatives to shutters. Wooden blinds are inviting and warm. They also lend natural flair with their rich stains and colors.

Wood blinds come in different makes. There are vertical, woven wood, faux wood, and even minis. They are designed in different stains, colors, and texture, depending on material and the kind of wood used. Aside from the option of having them custom-made, they can be made with other features like cord tilt motorization, fabric tapes, light and UV control, and static prevention.

Just any wood blind won't do; there are several things to consider before purchasing these shades. Basswood and ramin are the common wood blind materials. Ramin is less expensive but basswood is considered as premium quality for wood blinds because of its distinctive grain. For better stains, durability, and strength, basswood is usually preferred. Designers advise to pick blinds which come with no-holes feature. This ensures that the blinds pull together closer, leave no gaps between the slats, and make rooms darker, thereby, saving more energy. However, only basswoods come with this feature. Valance is also an important factor to consider because it provides cover for unsightly metal rails. Conventional wood valance is usually pegged at 2 inches and is common with ramin blinds. The 3-inch valance is found with basswood blinds and is considered more intricate. The shape of the blinds' tail determines how close the slats pull together when closed. Trapezoid tails provide the maximum closeness possible and comes with basswood. Rectangular tails are the signature structure of ramin blinds. A set of basswood blind is the best choice for style, function, and durability. The price matters in wood blinds. The more expensive basswood blinds are considered the best and most functional. Ramin blinds work well for a cheaper price and the right maintenance.

It doesn't matter what kind of wood blind is chosen, what matters is that it should be properly maintained to preserve its stain and overall look. Wood blind shops usually offer blind maintenance services. Proper maintenance is necessary because the natural materials used in wood blinds make them more sensitive to changes in the atmosphere. Rotting blinds are not decorative. <bio>For more valuable information on wood blinds, please visit http://www.wood-blind.net </bio>

Keeping a great home does not mean having the best and contemporary fixtures, large and spacious structure, and the like. Great home may also pertain to simple style but well attended furnishings, or just by enhancing some details of your home like installing window blinds. There are different types of window blinds in the market: mini blind, vertical blind, horizontal blind, woven-wood blind, and fabric blind. Mini blind have slim slats. Vertical blinds are of upright shapes and have the capacity to rotate the blinds up to 90 degrees to welcome the sun inside your home when you want it. Horizontal blinds are horizon-like-shaped blinds. Woven-wood blinds are can be made using yarn, wood, or bamboo.

Nevertheless, the well-loved fabric blinds specially add a different touch to your bedroom style as artistically styled window blinds. First, you can pick the design, colors, texture or type of the fabric that you prefer to use, which marks a great personal touch. Then you can embellish it with ribbons or fringes the way you want it to look a standout cut above the rest.

Romance in the bedroom can be improved using festoon blinds that look puffy with many fabrics. They are elaborate-looking window blinds that suit best bedrooms that have a touch of French, Victorian, or Italian motif. If you have wide bedroom windows, festoon blinds are perfect match. It can enhance your room more aesthetic feeling.

Other home stylists also recommend using roman blinds for children's bedrooms. This kind of blind are folded up to expose windows on daytime and cover it at nighttime for your kids' enjoyment and safety.

When choosing window blinds, every homeowner should also look into other factors such as the color, budget, and the window designs. Color affects the style of your windows and home style. Learn how to innovate and explore your window's possibilities. Do not just settle for what is the traditional or common though. Trying things out of the ordinary may even pave the way for a better bedroom window appearance. What are your personality and your window design? Usually, one matches the other. Having everything around your house based on your personal style will give your house a homier feel because all you can see is who you are. Note down every little detail that you want your window to look like with window blinds attached on it.

Budget matters to most homeowners. We all know that not everyone can manage to support home improvement costs, so you should take a good consideration also on budget. Can you manage the expenses of window blinds? Having a god run down of costing should help you ease the trouble. You can also be smart enough to go into stores that provide affordable products yet good quality. Hesitation in window blinds is only a matter of time and right information. If you hesitate to undergo home improvements because of the time, effort, and costs it initially entails, you may as well think about the fun and happiness it may bring to the whole family.<bio>Richard Dinae is an architect, providing information and directories about home improvement, please visit Window Blinds</bio>

Blind children can learn to play a musical instrument just as well and often even better than, sighted children provided the desire and interest is there. Blind children often have a strong sense of rhythm and musical sensation since their hearing is more in tuned with the world. Of course the assumption should not be made that just because they are blind they should play a musical instrument. However if a child or an adult who is visually impaired decides that playing a musical instrument is something they would find beneficial, then by all means, there should be every consideration made just as you would for a sighted individual. There are instruments which are better suited for the visually impaired than others. Most string instruments are a good musical instrument for the visually impaired because the strings can be easily felt in order, especially for the violin, viola, and cello. The piano and woodwind musical instruments can also make very good choices for the visually impaired when learning to play a musical instrument. They are considered the easiest of the musical instruments to memorize tactilely and are fairly versatile in the musical arrangements they can be applied to playing. However, there is of course no restriction to the possibilities. It is usually not necessary to find the visually impaired musical student a specially trained music teacher. A teacher that is creative and patient (which we would hope all music teachers are) should be able to help the visually impaired student feel the musical instrument of their choice in order to learn to play it competently. Musical instruments often are able to be handled by the visually impaired simply because their design and structure is quite unique from a tactile standpoint. Children and adults from all walks of life should learn to play at least one musical instrument. Learning to play a musical instrument teaches so many skills at once that it can be difficult to find a downfall to learning to play a musical instrument regardless of who you are, where you come from, or what type of disability you may bring to the table. It should never be assumed that simply because an individual doesn't see the world that they can't fully participate in it. Learning to play a musical instrument is just one way of reaching out through the world and bringing the world as we know it to life. <bio>Kuersten Steizer writes about http://www.musicalinstrumentsetc.com </bio>
