As far as I understand, being a true Christ follower involves 4 things.....belief, trust, faith, love..... These four things toward Jesus and toward others make us . So easy right?

It actually is. We make it so much more complicated because we like to earn our way into God's , so many times we set up rules for us to gage ourselves by. But believing, trusting, having faith, loving, are not easily measured. These 4 things are also very intertwined if you think about it. You cannot truly love if you do not trust, you should not believe someone who you don't trust, you do not love someone without some amount of faith because loving involves taking a chance. In some form or fashion these four words are connected, especially when considering Christianity and the Bible. Jesus seems to use them interchangeably in the Gospels as do the other New .

Simply put these things are relational. Being a true Christ follower means being in a healthy growing relationship with Jesus Christ and learning to be in healthy growing relationships with the people God has brought into your life. As far as I'm concerned this is the basic foundation of being an authentic Christian. So maybe we should all take a look at ourselves...Are we in a healthy growing relationship with Jesus Christ? Are we growing healthier each day in the relationships and interaction with our friends, families,enemies? If so, than we can rest assured that we are genuine in our faith.

Now some of you may wish to argue the essential Christian doctrine, that to know whether or not you are a Christian is determined by whether or not you have repented of your sins, trusted in the work of Jesus on the cross and been filled by His Holy Spirit. This would be many peoples answer as to whether or not they are true Christ follower or not. I agree. The only problem is that to a person who is not churched or does not know any religious jargon then these things are impossible because they do not know the meaning. On the other hand a simple statement of the fact that one must have a intimate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ cuts right to the root of what repentance, the cross, and the infilling are all about, relationship. A right relationship.

What To Do When We are Criticized?

Listen to the criticism and before you react to it, think about your strengths. That will give you positive input and make you ready to face the criticism squarely. Even if it is true that will give you the strength to face and do something about it other than an angry . Otherwise we may begin feeling angry and sometimes worthless.

Content of criticism-

Is the criticism true? Or it is of the facts? You may at times set aside your fears and emotions and look at the situation clearly. If need be ask the other person more details and their beliefs. Probably they believe something different than you. Once you talk to them and ask them about what can be done you will be on path to recovery rather than destruction.

The truth-

We criticize others. We believe that to be true. Similarly somebody criticizing us may feel that they are right and the criticism may well be true. What would you do then? What should we logically do when we know that we are weak in something? We should strengthen, right? So rather than worrying about the weakness, make that point strong in your life. Think of ways to improve and do it slowly.

Are you focusing on the person who criticizes you or on the content of the criticism? If you focus on the person your focus will shift to other person's weaknesses and you will strike back with your list of criticisms. Instead focus on the criticism itself. Leave that person aside.

How to Handle ?

There is a between self criticism and criticism by others. Most of us are too happy to agree with whatever we bash ourselves with but when some body else tells us the same thing we attack right back. If I tell myself that I walk slowly that is Ok, but if my friend tells me the same thing, I take umbrage and tell them that that is not true at all. Why do we look at criticism so differently?

The trouble with this-

The trouble comes in two ways. If some body tells us something that is true we tend not to agree but if we criticise our selves wrongly we are too ready to accept that and go into a bout of depression. Expressions such as - I am no good, I am of no use, I always fail, no body appreciates me and so on are readily heard when some body criticizes oneself. The person believes them all and all efforts of self-help go to waste.

What to do-

If we treat both criticisms differently we will surely be in trouble. What should we do then? Let us look at this in another way to solve the problem. Remove the person who is making criticism from picture and only look at the criticism. Remove yourself or anybody else. That way you will only be paying attention to the criticism and will have no biased view. After this look at the criticism for truth. Is there any truth in this statement? Think logically and let no emotion enter the thoughts. With logic you will be able to analyze the situation clearly. While cleaning is on my priority list, it always falls below my child and when he is old and gray I am confident he will remember that as well as I do. Too often we spend a lot of time and energy focused on things that do not matter in the long run. Letting the sit in the sink one night while you play a game with your child or pursue a hobby you love will contribute more to your happiness than making sure you do those dishes and then missing out on the life you love.

The final critical element that blocks true happiness for many people is not giving the things that make us happy enough weight in our life. Too often we dwell on the things we do not have--the bigger house, the newer car, the better job--rather than what we already have that makes us happy--the significant relationships, the happy home, the rewarding career. The next time you feel unhappy make a list of all that is going right in your life. Chances are that list is a lot longer than you thought and simply reviewing it will make you feel better.

With true self worth you do not need to compare yourself to others, tear them apart or feel superior. Instead, you are able to value who they are and share you both of your gifts. Exercise

Step 1: Recognizing The Many Faces Of Pride

Make a list of those you feel better than. Who are they? Why are you better than them?

A)Make a list of those you feel are better than you. Who are they? How does this make you feel? How do you behave with them?

This exercise will surprise you. Be honest with yourself. You may also be astonished to see how many people you've written out of your life.

Step 2: Stop Comparing

A) Pick someone on your list that you feel better than. Write down all their positive qualities. Now, stop comparing yourself to this person. Let them be who they are. Let you be who you are, as well. Enjoy the differences between you.

B)Do the same with someone you think is better than you. Can you allow both of you to have positive qualities though they may be different? Can you stop comparing in this case as well?

Step 3: A New Meeting

A)Contact the person you feel better than and go out with them to lunch. Make the meeting all about them. Don't talk much. Really find out about them. Give them a chance to be the star.

Do the same with someone who feels they are better than you. You'll be amazed to discover how much others crave being heard and known, how shaky they are about who they are. As you do this you'll see that you don't have to tear others down to feel good about yourself.

Step 4: Each One Is The Best One

As soon as you notice yourself feeling better than another, let it go and let them be the star. Realize that both of you can be wonderful.
