There are many Christmas traditions that are gradually being lost in today's high-tech, always-on-the-go world. But Christmas is the perfect time to slow things down and get back to basics to really enjoy the season. The following are three ways to have a traditional, old-fashioned Christmas.

1. Decorations

For many people, decorations are what make Christmas time special. The right decorations can set the mood for a traditional Christmas and let the whole family get involved in creating the Christmas spirit.

Start with an old-fashioned Christmas tree. Traditional decorations were all hand-made. Take a day early in December to get the whole family together to create the decorations such as stringed popcorn and chains made from colorful paper. Play Christmas music, serve eggnog and get everyone into the spirit.

Check your local thrift or antique shop for some old-fashioned decorations. Wax or blown-glass ornaments were commonplace in years past, and there are often some great examples to be found in thrift stores for next to nothing.

You can also look for antique tins with Christmas themes. These make great candy or fruit dishes.

2. Baking and Cooking

Baking and cooking come a close second to the Christmas tree for setting the mood for Christmas. Cookies, pies, and hot cider are all staples of an old-fashioned Christmas celebration.

The entire family can take part - even the non-bakers. They can help to decorate the sugar cookies or gingerbread men. Kids can help cut the cookie shapes before they're baked.

3. Christmas Day

There are plenty of Christmas day traditions that can help create old-fashioned fun. Find someone to play Santa Claus and deliver the presents for everyone in the family.

Make the gift exchange time special. Don't just tear into them en mass, give everyone a chance to open them separately. This gives everyone a better chance to show their appreciation, and people get to watch their reactions.

If you're lucky enough to have a white Christmas, take some time out of the day to go sledding or have a snowball fight. Top it off by serving hot cider or hot chocolate.

These family traditions can be passed on from generation to generation, with each one adding their own extras. <bio>Get more creative ideas for your Christmas celebrations, including fun costumes for Christmas on the Get In Costume website.
Christmas lights; we have all seen them and most of us have used them before. When it comes to Christmas lights, we often associate those lights with Christmas trees. While Christmas lights are most commonly used to decorate Christmas trees, did you know that they can also be used for much more? If you are planning on decorating your home for Christmas this year, you are advised to examine what else Christmas lights can be used for. After a close examination, you will likely see that they can be used for a lot more than you may have originally thought.

As previously mentioned, when it comes to Christmas lights, we often associate Christmas lights with Christmas trees. This is because a large number of individuals decorate their Christmas trees with Christmas lights. What is nice about using Christmas lights on a Christmas tree is that the lights come in a number of different sizes and styles. It is possible to purchase Christmas lights with small light bulbs, as well as large ones. Traditional Christmas lights come white in color or with a combination of all different colors. In recent years, the popularity of different colored lights has skyrocketed. You can now purchase single colored Christmas lights or lights with a specific color combination. These types of lights are ideal for those who are looking to theme their Christmas tree.

Although many individuals choose to use Christmas lights for their Christmas tree, as stated above, there are other uses for them as well. One of those uses is for decorating the outside of your home. Online and in many retail stores across America, you can easily find Christmas lights that are designed for outside use, particular around a home. These type of lights are often referred to as icicle Christmas lights. Icicle Christmas lights allow the lights to hang off the side of a house. While it is possible to find multicolored outdoor Christmas lights, you will find that they are most commonly sold in the traditional white color.

In addition to decorating the outside of the outside of your home with Christmas lights, you can also decorate the trees outside of your home. A number of homeowners, each year, decorate the trees outside their home, often exactly like their indoor Christmas tress. Many times, these trees are relatively small in size; therefore, the same types of Christmas lights that can be used on a regular tree can also, sometimes, be used on an outdoor tree. Decorating the small trees in your yard is a great way to bring a touch of Christmas to your neighborhood.

You can also use Christmas lights to decorate any one of the rooms that can be found inside your home. There are many individuals who hang Christmas lights along the top of their walls. This is a great way to bring extra Christmas spirit into the room that your Christmas tree is in, as well as other rooms. In fact, you can even use Christmas lights to decorate one of your home's bedrooms. This idea is often loved by teenagers and other children; many enjoy the bright lights and colors. Decorating your home's bedrooms is a great way to bring the Christmas spirit into a room that you may have otherwise not decorated.

As nice as it is to decorate your home for Christmas, you may also want to decorate your office or your workspace. Unfortunately, not everyone celebrates Christmas. This may pose a problem, when it comes to decorating your office workspace. However, you can still, in many cases, use Christmas lights to decorate your office. In most cases, you will find that it is the decorations that scream Christmas that cause the problems, not the lights themselves. Therefore, if you supervisors approve, you could easily hang Christmas lights around your office walls or along the sides of your work desk.

Isn't it amazing all of the different ways that you can use Christmas lights to decorate your home or even your office? What is even more amazing is the above mentioned examples are just a few of the many ways that you can use Christmas lights to bring the holiday spirit into your home or office. <bio>Published by http://www.daves-inforama.com, http://www.daves-inforama.com/christmas_shopping and http://www.daves-inforama.com/christmas-shopping/ </bio>

If you want a brighter, cheerier holiday home display, try LED Christmas lights. It's a fact that LED lights are brighter.

Rust is another factor in your choosing non-replaceable LED Christmas lights rather than the standard string of Christmas bulb lights. Copper wiring in standard cords can rust. If any moisture gets into the bulb environment whether actual water or just condensation it will begin to rust. This rusting takes place very quickly. In a few months, you'll have a Christmas light bulb that falls right out of its light socket. A non-replaceable led Christmas light, however, is totally watertight. You just can't get any moisture into it. The result is that it never rusts.

LED Christmas lights use only a fraction of the lighting energy as standard bulbs. Rather than 350 watts for a standard set of 70 Christmas lights at five watts each, LED Christmas lights use less than four watts total for all 70. This represents at least a 90 percent savings in electricity. If, for example, you were to use five strings of LED Christmas lights each with 70 lights and you left the lights on 8 hours a day for 7 days a week, and the rate you pay for your electricity is the national average of 8 cents, you'll save $33 a month by using LED Christmas lights.

While you may pay more for LED Christmas lights than the standard holiday bulbs, they'll more than pay for themselves the first holiday season.

They come in such pretty holiday colors and styles, too. One vendor offers three choices of each. The styles are strawberry, razzberry and mini-ice, while the color choices are multi-colored, winter white, blue sapphire, ruby, green, orange and gold.

LED Christmas lights are made of epoxy plastic which is solid, flameproof and unbreakable. They don't get hot like traditional Christmas bulbs, so they're safe indoors or outdoors, and you won't have to worry about your dry tree branches. The patent on these LED Christmas lights has prepared them for your standard electric outlet. You can even exchange them or interchange them with your traditional Christmas lights.

LED Christmas lights are made from miniscule sized chips that are solid state and like those in computers. The chips convert electricity into light but don't need any filament or bulb to accomplish this. The lack of filament is what keeps them burning and keeps them cool.

The unusual shape of LED Christmas lights makes them beautiful, giving off a shimmer when lighted. If you view your LED Christmas lights from two different angles you'll get two different decorative views. <bio>http://ledshq.com The site that helps you choose your LED lighting. </bio>

Simpler is better when it comes to decorating outdoors. Outdoor Christmas decorations should be centered around your theme, rather than picking and choosing among several themes.

Decorating outdoors can be done many different ways. The choices in outdoor Christmas decorations are overwhelming and you can see this in many people's outdoor displays. When it comes to decorating outside, sometimes you need to remember that less is more.

Fo example, you will be overdressed if you wear your formal gown along with seven diamond bracelets and four diamond necklaces. In much the same way, you want to refrain from overdoing your yard during Christmas. Showing your Christmas spirit is great, but too many Christmas decorations can possibly detract from your outdoor decoration.

It begins to be a problem when you start picking and choosing among all of the different choices available. It is best to have a few related outdoor Christmas decorations than many unrelated items, because it makes the whole yard look uncluttered and too busy.

I have seen yards with revolving reindeer, Santa, his sleigh, lighted palm trees, icicle lighting, and even several of those blow-up decorations. This yard was overshadowed by all of these outdoor decorations and ended up looking busy and disturbing, rather than giving you that Christmas spirit.

You may want to jump into your decorating with both feet, but with outdoor Christmas decorations it is best to refrain. You can use restraint in your outdoor Christmas decorations choices and help to make your yard festive, without turning it into the brightest spot in the neighborhood.

To help yourself stay on track it is best to choose a theme and then stay with it. You don't want to put the Grinch on top of a manger scene. If you choose the nativity as your theme then choose traditional decorations over the characters. It will make the yard more cohesive and more interesting to your friends and family.

Another thing to remember is that just because you have a certain decoration does not mean that you have to use it every year. You may love the Nutcracker fiber optic Christmas decoration that you have, but you want to do your yard in a more traditional nativity theme. You can just not use the Nutcracker set this year and save it for another Christmas.

It is very exciting to decorate for the Christmas season. It can be difficult to tone it down because all of the decorations are so fun and interesting to look at, but you need to keep it simple. Keep in mind that the people passing your home only have a couple of seconds to see your entire yard. Simpler is better, especially when we are discussing outdoor Christmas decorations. <bio>Adam Peters is an online entrepreneur and writes for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
What is the Christmas all about? Many would have us believe that Christmas is about getting gifts and giving them out. You go out spend gobs of money to the point that you worry about being able to pay off bills and you get excited about what people are going to get for you. Wow! That doesn't sound like such a great thing. With so much focus on buying and receiving, it's a wonder that so many people take part in the chaos. Perhaps there should be more to getting someone a Christmas gift.

Today's Christmas Story

Well, let's see. Last year I got a Christmas gift from Clint, Michael, and Judy for Christmas. Oh and Abby gave me a gift for my birthday. So, I guess I better get her something. Oh no. I forgot Nadia got me a little Christmas gift too. I wish she hadn't bought me anything, because I suppose I'll have to find her something now. Oh yeah, and I think I overheard Laura saying she was getting everyone something. That's one more Christmas gift to the list.

Many people find themselves caught in situations like this. Where they may have wanted to buy a Christmas gift for one or two people, they suddenly feel obligated to get a Christmas gift for everyone that has given them something or that they think might get them something. Sounds fair, but if that's the only reason you are giving Christmas gifts, than it can't be out of love. When a gift isn't given out of love, it loses all meaning. Unfortunately, so many people now buy Christmas gifts in this way and it makes Christmas seem a little fake.

If you find yourself hating the idea of getting stuck in the crowds at the mall and fighting over silly Christmas gifts, you're not alone. Christmas gift buying doesn't have to be so miserable, though. Perhaps you can decide to buy gifts for people because you want to show them love, rather than to show them that you are fair.

Try not to feel obligated this Christmas when it comes to Christmas gift buying. Think of who you want to show love to and find things that will express that love.

It always feels good to give a Christmas gift to someone who wasn't expecting it.

When there is no obligation involved, you don't hate gift buying process as much. So before you run out to get a Christmas gift for each of the people on your long list, think about each of the people on that list.

Think about why you are getting them a Christmas gift and let love guide you rather than obligation. <bio>Mike Walker is web master of http://christmasvally.com/index.html, which goal is give you Christmas information, from Christmas Decorating to Unique Christmas Gift.
Christmas is a festive time of year. There are parties and celebrations lasting from the day after Thanksgiving right up until New Year's. We shop for presents, attend parties, and host our own celebrations. Christmas costumes are an important part of the season. What would a mall visit be without seeing the occasional Santa Claus or Christmas elf walking around or posing for photos?

A party that involves children really wouldn't be complete without certain festive costumes. A visit from Santa Claus is always welcome, especially if he has presents.

If Santa needs a helper, elves can also be fun. You can even find costumes for reindeer, Mrs. Claus, and other familiar Christmas characters such as Frosty the Snowman or The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

And, a list of Christmas characters wouldn't be complete without considering the scenes from the nativity. Churches throughout the world reenact the event of Christ's birth and all the characters involved including the angels, baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the Wise Men need to be represented. Christmas costumes for the various barnyard animals that may have been present are also a must.

Most of the Biblical Christmas costumes seem to be homemade. Some Sunday school classes turn this into a project. But, Santa Claus costumes and other Christmas costumes are usually rented. The fabrics are often difficult to find and the costumes are only used for a short time. Of course, if you are a department store Santa, chances are the store will provide your costume for you.

While you might not think of Christmas as being a traditional "costume time of year", Christmas costumes are actually quite common. There are even Christmas-themed costume parties that happen around this time of year. It's fun to dress up at any time of the year, not just Halloween. And dressing up isn't just for kids.

Remember that Christmas time is festive and there are costumes present all the time. If you are interested in finding Christmas costumes, you can either make them or rent them. Costume shops have plenty of choices.

You may need to reserve that Santa suit in advance, though. They're popular. <bio>Phil Sikes writes about how to create fun and unique Christmas costumes, as well as costumes for other events, on the Get In Costume website at http://www.getincostume.com </bio>

The Christmas decorations you place on your tree is the most common place to find Christmas ornaments; usually bought, but with a modicum of craft skills and imagination you can make countless new Christmas ornaments. Christmas ornaments are usually made of glass, china, wood or resin.

Christmas ornaments are viewed by manufacturers as the entry into whole ranges of themed Christmas decorations, not just the decorations for your tree; they hope that the purchase of Christmas ornaments will lead to further purchases in the same range.

The original idea that Christmas ornaments were hung on the trees to mollify the goods and to ask for favour from them was swamped by the marketing industry; prior to the introduction of Christianity, Christmas ornaments primarily consisted of fruits, flowers and other colorful items hung on the tree.

Familiar Christmas Ornaments

In Germanic countries the Christmas tree has been decorated with ornaments for hundreds of years. This practice was popularized in Britain by Prince Albert , Queen Victoria 's husband during the middle part of the nineteenth century. During the 19th century Christmas ornaments would consist of hand carved Christian icons, such as angels. Before the introduction of the now ever present twinkling fairy lights, Christmas trees were decorated with a special and now rarely seen Christmas ornament =96 the candle, now pushed into Christmas ornament history as a health and safety hazard! These beautiful carvings and candles have been replaced by fairly lights and brightly colored baubles; just as fruits and biscuits have become chocolates and sugared candies.

In Sweden the traditional Christmas ornaments are made from wood, this is still the most common tree decorations. The Swedish have created an industry around their Christmas ornaments and now export them throughout the world. There is also a flourishing industry in the hand blown Christmas ornaments, the shimmer and shine of these ornaments make these very special and quite charming.

Just as there are traditional Christmas ornaments there are also traditional colors that are used on the decorations, these are gold, silver, green and red.

Personalized Christmas ornaments have become more in demand as people search for new and innovative ideas to impress. The best way to ensure that you have something unique is to create something yourself. This makes for a great family activity and will be much appreciated by the younger children.

When to put up the Christmas Tree

Traditionally the Christmas tree is put up in the USA after Thanksgiving. But in modern times it has got earlier and it is fairly common to see them within the first two weeks of December. This is probably due to the shops stocking decorations earlier each year in order to maximize profits. Some believe the first Sunday of Advent is the time to start putting up your tree, while others start decorating the tree as late as Christmas Eve.

Old Christmas ornaments have become collectors' items and are in much demand. This market is fuelled by people who are trying to recreate the perceived Christmas spirit of yesteryear. However you decorate your Christmas tree it is important that you personalize it in some way so that it can be something that is pleasing to look at and right for creating the festive spirit.

Christmas ornaments have become iconic in representing the coming of the festive season. Once you see the first decorations you know that the Christmas cheer is well underway. <bio>Jon Kelly is a published author who specializes in Christmas.
Do you celebrate Christmas? If you do, chances are you will celebrate the holidays with a Christmas tree. Each year, the majority of Americans purchase a Christmas tree for their homes. Whether that tree is real or an artificial one, it is often decorated with Christmas decorations. Different individuals decorate their Christmas trees in different ways. Many choose to theme their Christmas trees. If you are planning on decorating your Christmas tree this year, you may be wondering whether or not it is really worth it to decorate your Christmas tree with a theme. In all honesty, it depends.

Before you can start to determine whether or not it would be worth it for you to decorate your Christmas tree with a theme, it is important to note that different individuals have different views on themes. There are many Christmas tree owners that choose to theme their Christmas trees by having everything a particular color. For instance, there are some who choose to have a white Christmas tree with gold and red decorations. All of the decorations typically match. While many take this simple approach, there are others who take it a step further. There are some parents who tend to focus their Christmas tree theme around a cartoon character or something else that their kids enjoy. The decorations used are all typically associated in one way or another.

The type of theme that you would like to use, if you choose to use one, will help to determine whether or not you should go through the hassle of decorating your Christmas tree with a particular theme. For example, it was mentioned above that many just theme their Christmas trees with a particular set of colors. While this can still be difficult to do, it is one of the easier ways to have a Christmas tree theme, especially if the colors are traditional holiday colors. Anything different and you may spend days or even weeks searching for Christmas tree decorations; Christmas tree decorations that may be more than you are willing to pay for. So, if you are interested in decorating your Christmas tree with a theme, but without having to go through all of the hassle, you are advised to take the simplest approach.

If you do decide to decorate your Christmas tree with a particular theme, you may want to think about shopping for your Christmas tree decorations early. Around the months of October and November, the majority of individuals start shopping for Christmas decorations. When this occurs, the selection of decorations available drastically decreases. When you want to theme your Christmas tree, there is a good chance that you will want certain types of Christmas tree decorations, such as lights and ornaments. If you want to make sure that you get exactly the Christmas tree decorations that you were looking for, you are advised to start purchasing Christmas decorations as soon as they become available or as soon as you make the decision do decorate your Christmas tree a certain way.

If you are unable to find the Christmas tree decorations that you were looking for in one of your local retail stores, you are advised to give online shopping some thought. In fact, if you are planning on having a somewhat unique Christmas tree theme, you will find it easier to find what you are looking for online. When searching for themed Christmas tree decorations online, you will want to perform a standard internet search. For instance, if you were planning on having the theme of your Christmas tree be a popular cartoon character or a well-known Christmas symbol, such as an angel, you will want to tailor your search to exactly what you are looking for.

In addition to everything that was mentioned above, it is also important to examine the time that it will take to theme a Christmas tree. When it comes to themed Christmas trees, most tree owners want to get their Christmas trees exactly as they envisioned it in their minds. Unfortunately, that can take a lot of time and experimenting. It does not mean that you shouldn't theme your Christmas tree this year, it just means that you many want to examine whether or not you really have the time to do so. <bio>Published by http://www.daves-inforama.com, http://www.daves-inforama.com/christmas_shopping and A Guide To Christmas Shopping </bio>

It's about that time of year again, Christmas party season is fast approaching and you are inundated with invites to various parties over the holiday period. But you may want to host a Christmas party yourself. Read on for some tips on hosting the perfect Christmas party and thinking of the creative activities for all to take part in.

As previously mentioned, It is very common to host a party for the Christmas holiday. This gives you a chance to gather with your friends and family and enjoy various activities together. You will be able to offer delicious foods and bake wonderful looking desserts for everyone to enjoy. In order to keep everyone happy at your party though you will need to plan some Christmas party activities. It is important that they are appropriate for everyone in attendance. You may want to offer separate Christmas activities for adults and children though to get the most out of the gathering.

Planning Christmas Party Activities for Children

If there will be several children attending your Christmas party you need to find activities they will be very excited about. There are plenty of different ones you can choose from so take your time looking to see what is out there. Children love games that allow them to be active so look to your inner creativity as well. These games don't have to be expensive either as many of them require the use of common items you already have.

They will also love being able to help you decorate your Christmas tree. To give it some added fun have each child wear a blindfold before they place anything on the Christmas tree. Musical chairs always goes over well as does being able to pin the tail on the reindeer or the hat on Santa Claus.

Offer some great prizes for the children that participate in your Christmas party activities. You should have party favor bags on hand to give out at the end so that every child leaves with something. Instead of traditional party bags you can place the items into a small stocking with their name on it.

Christmas Party Activities for the Adults

Many of the adults at your Christmas party may not know each other. Get everyone involved with some fabulous activities. This can be anything from singing Christmas carols together to playing charades. Adult scavenger hunts are a great hit and you can divide the adults into teams. Try to mix everyone up so they will meet new people during the process.

How about organising a Secret Santa before the actual party. Get you guests to buy a gift for a stranger. Everyone gets a gift but no one knows who from!

It will take some planning to come up with fun Christmas party activities but it will be well worth it when you see how much fun everyone is having. You don't want to have a party where the same people gather to talk with those they normally do. Adding Christmas party activities will ensure your house is one place everyone wants to gather again next year. <bio>Christmas Season is fast approaching so visit http://www.christmasgiftzone.com for Christmas Gifts for Men and Christmas Gifts for Women plus many more Christmas Gift Ideas </bio>

Christmas is coming around again and it's never too early to start thinking about what present you are going to buy for your nearest and dearest. When considering what to buy him or her why not consider private number plates?

The starting cost of private number plates has come down over the years and now you can buy for just a few hundred pounds including vat and transfer fee. Most can be supplied on either a retention document or certificate of entitlement which will last for up to 12 months.Numbers supplied in this way already have the transfer fee pre-paid so when the recipient uses the certificate to assign the number to his or her car there is nothing extra to pay.The certificate can also be used as proof of entitlement and with some proof of I.D. you can purchase the physical plates , although they cannot be fixed to car until the tax disc has been changed to suit. This can be done when the DVLA re-open after the holidays.

Should you not want to present the recipient with a certificate or certificate plus plates on Christmas day it should be possible to transfer the number onto the car a few days before christmas and have the tax disc to hand over so they can fit the plates at christmas. This would entail you having access to the V5C registration document , M.O.T. certificate and a photocopy of the tax disc for the vehicle concerned. This is not always possible without letting the cat out of the bag.

Unlike many other Christmas presents, a set of private number plates can last for years, the recipient will always think of the giver every time they walk towards their car and many such registration numbers increase in value over the years. It is well worthwhile considering private number plates as an alternative to traditional Christmas gift ideas. <bio>visit us at http://www.northumbrianumbers.com </bio>

Gone are the days when boxes full of traditional cookies used to be the Christmas presents.

Today, your Christmas gift could be anything, from an aesthetically painted scene to a home prepared gourmet cookie. The gift chosen by you would reflect your true emotions towards the person. Thus personalized gifts are quite popular these days. For example, you can make a personalized Christmas card by putting lovely quotations on it.

A home made cake is another good option. The cake could be adorned with unique toppers. Just pour out your creativity while decorating the cake and add to the charisma of the day.

Christmas brings an opportunity to let your family and friends know the feelings that you carry for them. There couldn't be a better day to express your special feelings for the people who are close to you. Anything made by you will add to it.

If you are good at crafting, you can make use of this art also. Knitting, for example, could be an easy choice for women. You can knit some colorful stuff for your close friends.

For those of you who love to collect things, scrapbook with collection of some of the memorable photographs or letters is a hot choice for Christmas gift. To present a scrapbook to your spouse would be a great idea. You can incorporate some wonderful memoirs and mementos of all the years of togetherness that you have shared. It is likely to become one of the most treasured possessions for him/ her.

So, now that you have enough ideas to prepare gifts for your loved ones just set the mood right and let the Christmas bells go ringing for them. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
To be merry at Christmas is one thing, but to be married at Christmas is truly romantic and magical. What could be a better time to get married and start a new life than when families come together to celebrate the festive season?

I'm sure there are many ideas that you and your partner can come up with on your own, however, here is a brief outline of some of them that may help you on your way.

VOWS:

• Your vows should come directly from the heart; however, the wording could be played with in order to create a magical feeling for you both.

• As Christmas is a religious time you could always stick with the traditional vows, maybe embellishing upon this for the sake of the Christmas season.

INVITATIONS:

• Leave a little more time before sending your invitations as people's diaries will be very busy this time of year.

• You can highlight the Christmas theme on your invitations without making it look too much like a Christmas card, for example, simply introducing a border made of white snowflakes around your text.

WEDDING FAVOURS:

• Ice cube place card holders • Treasure ball -- filled with Christmas candy • Holiday ornament candles • Miniature wedding snow globes • Personalised Christmas crackers • Mini Christmas trees

ENTERTAINMENT:

• Ask a children's choir to sing at the ceremony. • Hire a wedding magician to give your wedding breakfast a little more....well you know -- magical! • Any singer or band that is willing to either provide part or a whole Christmas show.

DECORATIONS:

• This one is simple -- except this time you might not want to let the kids have a go. • Miniature Christmas trees with lots of presents underneath • Lots of candle light • Glitter!

THE CAKE:

• You could have a cake that looks like a stack of Christmas gifts • Decorate with Iced holly and berries • Incorporate the traditional colours and symbols

THE ARRIVAL:

• For a true Christmas look you could arrive on a Christmas sleigh with Santa at the reins. • If you'd prefer to arrive by the normal means you could work a little magic with the decorations.

FLOWERS:

• Check with your florist which flowers are in season over Christmas. • Bear in mind that flowers can be more expensive this time of year. • Use holly, pine and sprigs of Ivy. • Add mistletoe to accent corsages and boutonnieres. • Place pots of poinsettia in the centre of each table, tied with a ribbon trim.

Well that's a start anyway! Between the two of you, I'm sure you'll find many more ways in which to make the perfect Christmas wedding. <bio>Luca Salamone Website: http://www.vocalshow.co.uk Biography: Luca is a professional trained vocalist performing for a variety of events including wedding receptions. However, often the goodies in your stocking are not always of any practical use and are just your average traditional stocking filler. This is why Christmas gifts in a person's stocking offer up the best opportunity for you to both surprise and amuse someone. The more personal and generous your gift ideas will be the more pleased the person receiving your Christmas gift will be.

One really good gift that you can include in a person's stocking is some of their favourite chocolates. This is actually a very common thing to do. However, you can always feel free to be a little more unique as well. There are actually a lot of ways in which you can do this. Rather than look for the run of the mill gifts think out of the box and look for gifts such as experience day gifts that will still fit in a stocking.

Other unique gifts that you may wish to consider this year are horticultural gifts. This can be a great way in which to get everyone interested in things that are natural without them needing to exert a lot of effort. If you choose to give this type of gift, the recipient's house could soon be filled with a wide array of magical plants.

You could simply purchase them a "Grow It Chilli Plants Gift Box." Herein they will find everything that they will need in order to grow five of the world's spiciest varieties of chilli plants. This includes the pots that are needed for growing the plants, as well as the compost discs and the plant markers too. The company also makes a great gift box for the coffee lovers on your list that will allow them to grow their own coffee beans at home so that they can indulge in freshly roasted coffee.

If you have someone who is into crafts on your list this year, then why not help them to embrace their creative flair? You can give them a card-making kit so that they can make their own cards that have a much more personal touch. This will come in really handy for writing thank you notes this year as well.

Someone who enjoys cooking would surely love to receive a traditional recipe book in their stocking this Christmas Day. Plus, you probably will be the recipient of many great foods thanks to this gift.

As you can see, the various Christmas day gifts that you can come up with for in someone's stocking this year are simply endless. It really is the season to be jolly and Christmas stockings really do give a person a great excuse to give fun, interesting gifts to those people who are on their shopping list this year. Of course, many of these Christmas gifts are things that you would never have thought of spending money on during any other part of the year. However, whenever you are trying to fill Christmas stockings now is the perfect time to indulge just a bit.<bio>Red Letter Days has many Christmas day gifts options to present your loved ones with on this coming holiday.</bio>

When the stockings have been filled then emptied and after Santa has made his appointed rounds families around the globe begin the preparations (or in some instances continue them) to prepare the family feast that is most often associated with Christmas Dinner. There are many traditions around the world though sadly far too few families have the opportunity to experience some of the rich traditions and delicious foods that mark the Christmas holidays in other corners of the globe, or even across each individual nation.

In certain parts of Italy, because of the Catholic tradition of abstaining from red meat on Christmas Eve day, there is a tradition of having fish for the evening meal. This is commonly referred to as a 7 fishes dinner and is a fascinating tradition for those who enjoy seafood. It's certainly a new and refreshing dinner idea for many people if you are looking for something a little different from the ordinary. Even if fish really isn't your food of choice there is no rule that says you can't prepare a nice Italian feast for your Christmas dinner. The important thing is that you have friends and family gathered near and prepare the food with love. You do not have to have turkey or ham in order for the meal to qualify as Christmas and there is no reason that you have to stick with traditions that you really do not enjoy.

A traditional German Christmas dinner might be a neat tradition to try in America as well if you are looking to introduce your family to various cultures or just want to do a little something extraordinary for Christmas this year. One thing to note is that many Germans have their Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day. A traditional German Christmas dinner often consists of dishes such as stuffed Christmas Goose, Potato Dumplings, Red Cabbage, and Baked Apples for dessert. Of course you do not have to choose a traditional Christmas dinner for your Christmas German cuisine there are plenty of great German dishes that can be enjoyed if you wish to bring a German theme to your Christmas table. Do whatever tastes good and it might be best to choose foods that are relatively easy to prepare rather than those that are time consuming so that you can enjoy time with friends and family rather than cooped up in the kitchen.

If a taste of the UK is what you have in mind for your Christmas Dinner table then you might find the foods bring a flavor that is a little closer to home than you may realize. Popular Christmas dinner favorites in the UK include dishes such as roasted turkey, roasted potatoes, brussel sprouts, dressing, and pudding pie. One interesting tradition that is popular in the UK is that of Christmas crackers, which hold little gifts and goodies inside.

Another interesting choice for your Christmas table may be to include your favorite Mexican dishes for dinner. Most Americans have a soft spot for Mexican cuisine and it is definitely warming to eat on a cold winter's day. The point is to make your Christmas dinner menu fun to eat, fun to prepare, and something that is likely to make your guests smile while building fond memories of your Christmas day.

The same may be said of most cuisines, even those from cultures that do not traditionally celebrate Christmas. Thai, Indian, Chinese foods make wonderful themes for a Christmas table if you are knowledgeable about the cuisine and willing to undertake the tasks of preparation as part of your Christmas dinner plans. The trick is really in finding dishes that are relatively simple to prepare, difficult to mess up, and can easily be skipped in the event that something does go wrong. There are tons of distractions on Christmas in most households and you do not want Christmas dinner ruined because one dish is proving difficult or impossible or (heaven forbid) gets burned, dropped on the floor, or eaten by the dog. <bio>For more Christmas related articles written by Frans Nieuwenhuis please visit http://www.funnyseason.com </bio>

Christmas bingo is a great way of spreading the holiday cheer and combining the festive celebrations with your favorite game.

Christmas bingo can be played as a land-based game or online. In land-based bingo games special cards are made that have Christmas symbols, or traditional numbers for players to bingo on which is a variation of the usual game. The pictures on the special Christmas game cards can be symbols of holiday related things like Christmas trees, holly berries, nativity scenes, snowflakes and such. They could also feature words relating to the holiday, such as 'Christmas', 'snow', 'jingle bells' and so on. The aim of the game is still to cross off items as they are called, and the winner of the game is the player who has marked off either all items on their card, or five items in a row (down, across and diagonally).

Another festive variation of Christmas bingo is traditional number bingo, but instead of calling "Bingo" when a player wins bingo, the winner calls "Santa" or "Merry Christmas". The games using special holiday cards can also be played with this variation.

Many people host special Christmas bingo parties every year. These are really simple to arrange, and it is a cost effective and entertaining way to celebrate the holidays. All that is needed is some cards, which can either be purchased, printed from the internet or handmade, daubers or markers, bingo balls or pictures correlating to the bingo card pictures and a sense of fun. Players can decide which type of game they wish to play, and the fun can then begin. Prizes can be wrapped presents, or candy canes and other treats.

Many online games have special Christmas bingo specials and games run over the holiday. Some sites have promotions and special games that are run over the 12 Days of Christmas. Players are given extra chances to win, and there is also a very festive atmosphere on the site and in the chat. Many sites have special Christmas related patterns on their games, and chat games are also often themed to the holiday.

Christmas bingo is a great way for bingo lovers to start the festive season on a positive note -- by playing their favorite game. Whether you are playing a game at your local hall, hosting your own Christmas bingo party, or playing at your chosen site, you will be guaranteed to have a festive, fun time. <bio>Mary Weber has been an online bingo fanatic for over 7 years.
There don't appear to be many accounts of people having ever spotted a real Christmas Elf or helper, though we know they must exist otherwise how else would everything get done at Christmas time? Well, here are just a few tips on how to organise yourself this Christmas, with or without the help of these present pixies.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Though December the 25th might be the official Christmas day, we all know that lots of preparation must be put in beforehand. Spread the season of goodwill around early this year with some Handmade Christmas Cards. They could be given as early Christmas presents for the little ones or just special Christmas Presents for those on your Christmas Card list; either way, they are sure to add a bit of festive cheer to anyone who gets one. Before you start shopping for the other Christmas presents, why not really sprinkle a bit of Santa's magic around the home with an official 'Christmas Letter to Santa Kit'? These Christmas presents are surely the best way of passing on that all important information to those hardworking Christmas Elves.

Deck the Halls

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a little bit of tinsel or that all important tree. Unfortunately the Christmas Elves are likely to be a bit busy arranging the Christmas presents so you'll have to enlist the help of your own little helpers on this one. You could add a few special tokens to the tree this year with the '12 Days of Christmas Decoration' or a 'Snowlace Christmas Glass Decoration' for that really Christmassy feel. They can make lovely Christmas presents for someone else or even just a little treat for your own family this year.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

If you're going to be hosting the festivities this year then why not push the sleigh out and make it a really magical experience for the whole family. They should be able to amuse themselves once all the Christmas presents have been opened, and if a vat of mulled wine or a festive 'Snowball' doesn't keep them entertained, then you may need a backup plan. 'The Christmas Game' can make wonderful Christmas presents or stocking filers for the whole family these little tins have a host of jokes and games that will keep the troops entertained whilst you peel the potatoes and season the sprouts. After dinner, why not play something that the whole family can get involved with such as a game of charades, or 'Who's in the Bag Game'? These Christmas presents offer hours of fun and are guaranteed to give the family a very merry Christmas.

Let Them Know It's Christmas Time

"Feed The World" so said the members of band Aid, but surely feeding a family at Christmas is hard enough! If it's your turn to make the Christmas dinner this year then fear not, help is hand with a number of Christmas presents. Get the kids involved by treating them to a 'Kid's Recipe File'. With a little luck, these Christmas presents might even relieve you of all cooking duties next year and let Santa's little helpers do most of the hard work! If you're after something a bit more traditional this year then how about some tradition recipes from 'Mrs Manley's Christmas Treats', or some tips from the famous 'Mrs Beeton's Everyday Cooking'? These ladies are surely the real Santa's helpers and make for some truly welcome Christmas presents. If you're going to someone else's house this Christmas then why not treat them to some special Christmas presents that might even help them out. There are a selection of personalised champagnes, wine and spirits to choose from which can be shared by everyone or make wonderful keepsake Christmas presents. Luxury Christmas hampers can do a lot of the work for you, and make lovely Christmas presents either for your own family or someone else.

Merry Christmas Everybody

When all of the festivities are drawing to a close and you finally have a few moments to yourself, why not enlist Santa's little helpers to do the washing up whilst you kick off the new slippers and enjoy your own Christmas presents. Treat yourself this year with some Christmas presents that you can really enjoy such a 'Pamper Me Bathroom Bundle' or 'The Ultimate Chocoholics Indulgence' a great way to start the countdown for next year's big day.<bio>To explore our range of Christmas Presents further, please visit our website at http://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk.</bio>

As fall heads toward winter and thoughts turn toward Christmas, of course, the Christmas tree becomes a focus of household decor. (That is, after all, where the presents go!) An after you have taken the time and spent the money to get the perfect Christmas tree, your next job is to decide what you want to do about your Christmas tree decorations.

It might seem obvious, but like any home decorating project, a well-done Christmas tree requires a theme. For example, if you want your Christmas tree to have a Victorian look, then you should consider getting antique-style glass ornaments as your Christmas tree decorations. And since Christmas in contemporary society is largely about kids, if you have children, or even if you don't and you're just a kid at heart, you might enjoy a tree with a children's toy theme. Toy Christmas tree decorations can be a lot of fun to buy, and to display. You'll probably want to start shopping far in advance, so you have time to plan your theme and get the items you really want.

For example, say that you liked to play with Barbie dolls when you were a child -- the Christmas tree decorations that you choose could have a Barbie theme! This might strike you as a bit weird, but weird can be cool, and remember, the Barbie theme is just an example -- you are limited only by your imagination. Any theme at all can be fun and unique if it fits your personality and lifestyle. If you do go with the Barbie theme, then your color scheme might well be based on the, shall we say, non-traditional color of pink. And if your theme is based on pink, and you do not actually have a tree yet, then why not go all the way, be extra unique and get a white tree (either fake or flocked), or that old contemporary of the Barbie doll, the silver (aluminum) tree --- this will pick up the pink from the rest of the decorations quite well.

Once you have your theme, you might even want to make your own decorations. You could, just for an example, go to a craft store, and get a lot different styles of pink beads, and with white thread (if you do not already have it at home). Thread the beads in interesting combinations and make your very own, personal Christmas tree decorations (guaranteed unique)!

For more ideas for your Barbie tree (or any other theme you might come up with), do a quick search on the internet. There are lots of [insert your theme here] enthusiasts that have websites full of ideas. You can also search for Christmas tree decorations based on any theme you can dream up on the Internet's many auction sites and close-out sites. With a bit of planning, and a lot of creativity, you will surely create a beautiful one-of-a-kind themed Christmas tree that you will enjoy this year, and for many years to come.<bio>If you liked this holiday decorating idea (or even if you didn't!) check out my site for lots more ideas on all kinds of Christmas decorations from the Decoration Diva!</bio>
