Today's wedding planning invariably includes picking out and sending wedding invitations. While most are familiar with formal invitations, other couples are opting for casual, colorful, and unique ways to ask people to celebrate their special day with them. However, the wedding invitations we see today have not always been a part of the wedding celebration, and they have gone through a rather long evolution.

It is believed that the tradition of sending wedding invitations began in the 12th century with the use of a town crier. People did not send pretty paper invitations through the post. Instead, the town crier would walk through the city streets doing what he was hired to do=85announce the news to the citizens. Thus, word of mouth was the key way to invite friends and family to the wedding.

The use of a town crier or word of mouth was a necessity in a time where people were fairly illiterate. It was mainly families of nobility that would hire calligraphers, mostly monks, to hand-letter wedding announcements. Often the wedding announcements would include the wording along with a family crest or coat-of-arms. The crest was a way for people to distinguish which family was hosting the celebration. This tradition is often a part of modern wedding invitations today, though not as common as it was during the Middle Ages.

Over time, though, people became more literate and printing large numbers of documents became commonplace. Thus, by the 16th century it was more commonplace for wedding announcements to be placed in a newspaper. The process of engraving became much less expensive with new technology, so even middle class citizens of the time could afford to have wedding invitations printed and sent to family and friends. Some modern wedding invitations are still engraved using this same method.

By the 18th century lithographing became more commonplace, and thus engraving was no longer necessary. The second envelope became more popular at this time, as invitations were still delivered by hand. The extra envelope provided greater protection to the invitation, and it is still a common tradition today.

After World War II, thermographic printing methods were developed and allowed more versatility in design and printing of invitations. The raised print became popular for most brides and grooms. All of these options, over time, have set the tone of creating the unique and modern wedding invitations we see today. <bio>Chris Morton ran hotels and restaurants for 10 years, organising many successful weddings in the process.
The Hermanus Whale Festival, the only Enviro-Arts festival in South Africa is held annually in September to celebrate the return of the Southern Right Whales to the waters of Walker Bay, Hermanus which is the best land based whale watching destination in the world. This is a fantastic addition to a South African travel itinerary (especially for those visiting Cape Town) and is a popular attraction for families.

From early June until November, the whales come so close to the Hermanus shoreline (within 200 meters) that they can be viewed from the strategically positioned boutique hotels situated along the coastline. The town even employs a whale crier who walks through the town announcing the places where the whales have been spotted.

The Southern Right Whale is a baleen whale, one of the three species classified as the Right Whale belonging to the genus Eubalaena. There are around 7,500 Southern Right Whales spread throughout the southern part of the Southern Hemisphere.

There has been historical disagreement on whether to classify the populations of Eubalaena whales as one, two or three species. Morphological factors indicate that there were at least two species. One in the Northern Hemisphere and one in the Southern Ocean. No group of Right Whales has been known to swim through the warm equatorial waters to make contact with and breed with the other sub species. Recent studies have proved this to be correct.

Southern Right Whales are distinguished from other whales by the callosities on their heads, a broad back, absent dorsal fins and a long, arching mouth that begins above the eye. The body is dark grey or black with with some white patches on the belly. The length of the Right Back Whale is between 11-18 metres (36-59ft) and they can weigh up to 100 tonnes. The females have a gestational period of 1 year.

One behaviour that is unique to this whales is called 'sailing', where the whales use their elevated flukes to catch the wind. It is interpreted as a form of play and is seen on the coast of South Africa and Argentina. Another interesting behavioural pattern is the fidelity of a mother to its feeding and calving habitats. This instinct is very strong and is passed down to the calves.

The Southern Right Whales are listed as endangered species and have been protected since 1946 in the territorial waters of the countries where they breed.

Hermanus boasts some world class hotels. It is a cosmopolitan town that has retained some of its historical fishermans village heritage. The harbour has been restored and gives visitors a glimpse of times past. For those looking for an adrenalin filled activity, shark cage diving gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent sea predators.

A visit to Hermanus can easily be combined with a malaria free safari in the Eastern Cape. Some excellent family lodges/hotels include the Grootbos Nature Reserve, Long Lee Manor, the beautiful Cape Grace and the Waterfront Apartments.<bio>Jane Harmsen is a specialist in luxury safari travel to africa.</bio>

Oriental is a small town along the North Carolina coastline. With a population under 900 people it provides a very small town atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. This is great to bring friends and neighbors together.

The town was founded in the 1960's and was built around fishing, farming, and harvesting trees. The town had a good advantage because the railroad had stopped in the town and they could bring in and ship out supplies using it.

The town still has a lot to do with the fishing industry. The fishermen will end up bringing in tons of shrimp and fish to be processed and sold. This helps support the town and give it a minor economy.

Even being such a small town there is still a lot to do in Oriental. The town revolves around its harbor and boats. There are currently around 2,700 boats in the town. This makes this one of the many small harbor towns along the east coast.

There is also a lot of art and galleries in oriental. There is an old theatre in town which holds plays put on by the Pamlico Music Society. It is also the main nesting ground of the Pelican Players. The "Old Theatre" is really the center for arts and culture for Oriental.

Several businesses in the town also offer bike rentals. Because of the sights and sounds of the ocean and the old town it can be very relaxing to take a peaceful ride around town and get some fresh air.

For the competitive person who wishes to move to Oriental you can get involved in the local sailing races. These races have been a part of the town for years and are more of a tradition than a sport.

Every guy enjoys fishing and that is a big thing in Oriental. Considering the town was built around fishing in its early days it should come as no surprise that people still enjoy it today. There are even guides who can be hired to show you the marshes around Oriental.

With everything said and done Oriental is a peaceful fishing village. It keeps a quiet lifestyle and would be great for anyone seeking for a place to live in and eventually retire to. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ocean view in Oriental North Carolina. <bio>Want to move to Oriental?
The Old Town San Diego Park serves as a way to recreate life in both the early American and early Mexican era of 1821 - 1872. Perfectly situated in San Diego, the park helps to recreate what was once San Diego. No matter how you look at it, a trip to California isn't complete without a visit to the Old Town.

Around the five adobes of the main complex, there are shops, a museum, and several restaurants. Around the garden courtyard, the La Casa mansion helps to bring back a taste of the Old Town. Just a short hop from there, the museum is full of artifacts that help to reflect on the life that was once the Old Town.

The Old Town also has a blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, and several other historic buildings, including the first newspaper office in San Diego. This is truly a place to visit, especially for those who are wanting to learn more about the history of San Diego.

The city of San Diego was the first Spanish settlement in California. This occurred when a fort and mission were established in 1769. Back in 1769, California was just beginning to get established, therefore it wasn't near the state nor the size that it is today.

When visiting the Old Town Park, you should make sure to visit the Robinson-Rose House Visitor Center. This center is reconstructed now and displays a model of Old Town and the way it looked back in 1872. The model that is on display was created by Joseph Toigo.

The Old Town Park also offers exhibits of the way things used to be, programs, and even guided tours. You can get a personal tour of the park, with a guide who will show you around and even explain things to you.

During your visit to the park, you can also enjoy a picnic at one of the picnic areas or get something to eat from one of many vendors. There are supplies here as well, including restrooms.

Those living in San Diego can find the Old Town Park on San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. Being close to the main city, visiting the Park is easier than you may think. If you live in the city but have never been to the park, you should stop by and take a look.

On a vacation or a visit from town, the Old Town San Diego helps to bring back a taste of the past. There is a lot to see here and a lot of historical value. All you need to do is stop by the park and see what you think about the way things used to be. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.about-san-diego.com </bio>

Town homes also go by the name of row houses. Single storied town homes and double storied or multi storied town homes are seen in a row. It is because of this the term row houses have been coined.

Typically a town home is attached with other dwellings in the row, with common walls. The open space in the front and back is also shared. This of course means that privacy is somewhat hampered, but the pros of town homes outnumber the cons. It is now easy to under stand what exactly is a town home: it is a house which is attached to the neighbouring houses of similar nature.

Town homes offer a sense of freedom. With highly populated cities in the world small condominiums and smaller apartments have become the norm for people to live in. Bigger apartments have prohibitive cost without the benefits of town homes. This does not mean that town homes are cheaper. These houses can be double and multiple storied in a small unit, or be a part of a huge town house complex.

The owners have to contribute to the maintenance of the common spaces, but it ensures the usage of those spaces by all. Town homes are very secure, at least, more secure than individual apartments. Being in close proximity with one's neighbour is the key to such security.

Small complexes of town homes do not have luxury items, like swimming pool or indoor play ground, bigger complexes offer these facilities. As mentioned earlier town homes may not offer complete privacy to the owner. There can be restrictions on decorating the exteriors or the garden.

The architecture of town homes vary from having a very modern look, or traditional. These homes can be rented. Ideal for small families or just couples, one can rent a town home in suitable locations. Details about available homes can be had from agencies. It is better to see a couple of town homes before deciding to rent one. The amenities are the same for both the owners and persons renting a home.

It is generally noticed that this type of dwellings are situated away from the heart of a city. Pure and sylvan surroundings make the stay in a town home very pleasurable. Open spaces in and around the house add to the general feeling of wellbeing and being one with nature. This is a privilege city dwellers always miss. <bio>Keith George always writes about valuable news and reviews. You can still own the home, but the community's association fees will take care of various maintenance requirements. You will also not have to worry about loud neighbors above or below you, since town houses only have common side walls.

Simple to Luxury Designs are Available for Town Homes

No matter what type of town home you can afford, there is a designer that will work closely with you to decide on what type of house you need. Today, town houses are available with different amenities and views. Inner city townhouses allow people to live closer to where they work, without having to rent a smaller apartment. Some neighborhoods are constructing town houses along natural or manmade lakes for a glistening water view to give owners a relaxing atmosphere.

Custom town home designers allow you to create a home to match your personal style. The interior of a town house can often look small and dark when not designed properly. Since every wall doesn't connect to the outside, making use of what you have is vital for those that want a home with natural sunlight. An architect will need to efficiently use the floor plan to create an easy flow from room to room. Different residential house styles can be used to design a town house to create the look you want.

One and two story town homes are available to give you more design options. Families within any age group can take advantage of living in a town house. No matter what type of town home you're looking for, a custom designer can listen to what you want from your house and make it happen. Town homes can be made for families of different sizes. Whether you're single, married, or going into retirement, a town house will have its benefits for you.

Town Homes Provide Homeowners with Less Work

Town houses are often found in communities that offer different amenities to property holders. Pools, tennis courts, and fitness centers are popular choices for town home communities. Since you're going to be paying for the upkeep of these facilities, finding a community that offers amenities you will use is important. Of course, the fees you pay will also go toward the maintenance of the yards and exterior of each home. You won't have to spend your Saturday mornings mowing the grass. Instead, you could go for a swim in the neighborhood's pool or spa. Most town home communities are gated, which provides a secure area from the outside. Parents may be more comfortable letting their children play in the community playground.

Each town home community will attract certain types of buyers. If you want to live in an area where people share your interests, do some research to see what type of people are buying a town house. The amenities that are offered can usually tell you who will be more attracted to living there. Swimming pools and playgrounds may attract families with children, while fitness centers, sporting courts, and spas could interest more singles or those that enjoy healthy activities.<bio>Home Plans for more information on Town Home Plans Or Town House Plans</bio>

Election fever (or malaise) is in the air, and with that comes the usual assortment of moronic emails. The latest grammatical atrocity begins:

"Very interesting and something that should be considered in your choice. If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scarey to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it. We checked this out on "snopes". It is factual. Check for yourself."

The message concludes with the usual, "Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!!"

Observe the less-traditional "e-y" spelling of "scary," courtesy of the braintrusts behind this dim-witted nonsense.

Any time you receive a message of this type that includes a request to forward it to everybody you know, just reach for your DELete key and dispose of it. Chain email is never a reliable source for news or information. And let's face it, you're not the town crier, nor am I. If we forward things like this, we're part of the problem.

Note that the preface to the message states, "We checked this out on snopes. It is factual. Check it for yourself."

Pulleeeze! The knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathers who send this stuff out know that most uninformed recipients will react in knee-jerk fashion and never investigate it themselves. So the senders include a phony-baloney corroboration and unfortunately, that's good enough for some people. If any recipient did invest 20 seconds to check out "Who is Barack Obama?" on http://www.snopes.com, they would find that, of course, it's just a dopey hoax.

It doesn't matter what the body of this type of message says because there are all kinds of hoaxes, framed in a variety of ways, all designed to trick you into perpetuating the hoax by forwarding it to others.

Look for any of the following five "red flags" and you'll be able to identify a hoax just as quickly as it arrives in your inbox.

1. A request to forward it to others. You will never encounter a hoax message that requests that you keep the information to yourself.

2. A message that's alarmist in tone. Look for lots of exclamation marks or wording that suggests a great sense of urgency.

3. Gratuitous corroboration or authentication in order to make the message sound legitimate. References to having checked it with Snopes, or "My brother-in-law's wife's sister knows somebody who works at Microsoft, and Bill Gates said=85" Puleeeze!

4. An assertion that something "bad" or untoward will happen if you don't act immediately. That's right, it's YOUR fault if something unfortunate happens. (Guilt is always such a lovely touch.)

5. Lots of "forwarding" marks >>>> indicating that many other individuals have been similarly blessed as recipients. Lucky you.

If you remember nothing else, keep in mind that a hoax will ALWAYS include a request that you forward it to others, so whatever you do, be a good Internet citizen and don't forward it to anybody <bio>Mr. Modem (http://www.MrModem.com) is an author, syndicated columnist, radio host, and publisher of the wildly popular, always entertaining, Pulitzer-lacking, weekly "Ask Mr. Modem" computer-help newsletter.
Hi, my name is James Warren and i would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of my experiences with my latest project.

I am building a website which is targeted to the local people of the town that i live in. The town is called Sudbury. It is in the county of Suffolk in the UK.

The purpose of the site isn't to attract people to the area or to inform people about any of the features that the town has to offer. It is all about communicating within the local community. It is my aim for the people of Sudbury to become regular users of the website. I want them to find information about local events and read reviews about the restaurants in the town and to keep visiting the website on a regular basis.

Why do you want people to keep visiting?

It is my aim to sell advertising space to local businesses and traders. This along with Google Adsence and a few Affilliate links should generate a half decent income. So with the people of Sudbury coming back time and time again, i will be in a good position to put premiums on advertising space.

The website is progressing well and i hope to launch it very soon. I will have to do a lot of marketing in the town to really promote it and get people to actually visit the site and hopefully through word of mouth and some decent press releases, i should be able to establish a good following. What do you think? Is i something that could work in your opinion? Why not have a look at the site and give some feedback. <bio>http://www.sudbury-suffolk.co.uk and http://www.warrendirectpublishing.com </bio>

Whale watching in South Africa: Every year, these beautiful gentle giants congregate to our shores to mate and calve. South Africa has got to be one of the most incredible destinations in the world for watching marine mammals. In early June, southern right whales leave their Antarctic feeding ground to frolic in the warmer waters of the Western Cape coast. Here they mate, calve and generally hang out, occasionally flopping a tail up, or sticking their heads out of the water, much to the delight of onlookers. They are a true marvel to behold.

Whale watching in South Africa is done from June to November, although it's not uncommon for whales to be spotted outside this period. They pick some of the most beautiful stretches of our coast for their activities. Some of the best viewing spots include Lamberts Bay on the Cape West Coast, the Cape Peninsula, False Bay, Hermanus, Arniston, Mossel Bay, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Some 37 species of whales and dolphins are found in South African waters, but the most common are the humpback whales and southern right whales (in spring), which are frequently encrusted with white barnacles. Humpback whales are similar in size to southern right whales (around 15m), and are often seen off the South African coast between July and November as they move to Mozambique to calve and breed, and to Antarctica, where they feed.

The absolute best way to enjoy whale watching in South Africa, is to go on a whale-watching boat trip. The boats are big, comfortable and moderately dry. Boarding is easy and people in wheelchairs can be accommodated. In some cases, the prices of these whale watching boat trips can be quite high, but the chance to get within metres of whales at water-level is simply unforgettable.

Hermanus is one of the finest places for South African whale watching. It is home of the Southern Right Whale which is named as such because it was considered to be the 'right' whale to catch. Whether it is the calm waters or their well-documented curiosity that brings them closer in, whales often come within a few meters of the shore. Hermanus as a town, is very much geared towards whale watching and many vantage points have been set up to accommodate the hundreds of people who flock here for the Hermanus Whale Festival every year in late September. The festival consists of nine days filled with music, theatre, sport and parties. The famous Whale Crier will be around to give everyone the latest whale watching news.

You could also visit one of the many coastal nature reserves to enjoy more South African whale watching. For example the De Hoop Nature Reserve near Bredasdorp which offers numerous spectacular trails and hikes varying in distance to get the most out of your whale watching experience.

Plettenberg Bay justly lays claim to the title of the South African Whale Watching Capital. The southern right whales can be seen for the whole season and when they are getting ready to leave in early November, the humpback whales arrive with their calves, and stay until the end of December or early January. A truly memorable sight! Plettenberg Bay is where the South African dolphin and whale watching industry is said to be the most organized. There are whale watching boat trips, dolphin-watching kayak trips and a number of aircraft from which you can check out the whales from the air. The town has made a vast effort to promote a responsible boat-based whale and dolphin watching program. Viewing, distances and time spent with each animal are strictly monitored so that there is minimal interference.

Which ever way you choose to watch these magnificent creatures, it is an absolute must. South African whale watching is truly an unforgettable experience! <bio>SA-Venues.com is a comprehensive travel guide for South Africa with essential travellers information including visas, safaris, hotels, accommodation, maps, attractions and more. The cathedrals of San Michele and San Martino are two of the best examples of the Romanesque architecture to be seen in Lucca, or all of Northern Italy for that.

Lucca sits near the Serchio River, about 30 kilometers from Pisa and 80 kilometers from Florence. The town itself rests on a plateau under the watchful gaze of the Apuane Alps. The medieval walls, thick and strong, built in the sixteenth century still surround the town and the walkways present on the top of the walls offer an enjoyable opportunity for biking or walking to nearby sights.

The town is full of charming shops and antique markets that offer a variety of unique and interesting items. In fact, the town is sufficiently insulated from the hectic pace of city life, that it provides a restful and peaceful vacation spot.

The superb aromas wafting from the restaurants in Lucca tempt tourists and residents alike. Superb dining is at the end of their search for the perfect cuisine or culinary delight to feed their hunger. One of the best restaurants in Lucca is Ristorante Buca di Sant'Antonio. Make sure to try the faro soup. This is known to be one of the oldest dishes in Italy.

Large villas, nestled in the surrounding hillsides in all of their finery, and impressive gardens beckon too many tourists who visit the area. Some of Italy's finest beaches are less than a half an hour distance away. Nearby is the town of Barga. It is north of Lucca and is a wonderful medieval walled city that is not on the tourist path. Pietrasanta is another small town nearby that is known as the place which Michelangelo came for stone. Today, it remains a place where many artists reside and a continue to craft items from the stone. <bio>For more information about Tuscany and Lucca, please visit Lucca - A Tuscan Town ( http://www.oldandsold.com/articles08/tuscany-12.shtml ). </bio>

The business center of the Western Cape of South Africa, Cape Town, has invested a lot of time and money to renew its commitment to keep Cape Town as a prominent member of the global business community. After overcoming a lot of political strife, Cape Town is better than ever, and ready to do business on a global scale. As a symbol of the dedication to developing business in the Southern Hemisphere, Cape Town opened the Cape Town International Convention Center in order to make doing business on the Western Cape of South Africa far more attractive.

Cape Town didn't stop there. They have also extensively renovated the entire downtown to provide businesses with new office spaces, eateries, shopping, and other venues to make conducting business here more convenient. As a result, many major corporations have decided to move their headquarters to the four business modules located downtown, the center of business for the Western Cape of South Africa.

Public transportation need not be a concern for any business in the Western Cape of South Africa. Cape Town has met this challenge by providing two different long distance rails that take business travelers into the business district from as far away as Johannesburg. Once in the city, commuters can enjoy an extensive metro rail system to take to them to meetings or anywhere else they need to go in Cape Town.

The Cape Town International airport is being continually updated to handle more flights daily, including both direct international and domestic. The airport is located close to Cape Town in the Western Cape of South Africa, so it is quick and easy for travelers to get to the business district for meetings.

The Port of Cape Town is also located here in the Western Cape of South Africa. This is the largest port in the area, and handles all of the exports of the region. The Western Cape is the hub for manufacturing and agriculture, so the port is an integral part of getting goods and produce moved out of the country. There are also large ship building companies here, who have headquarters in the business district of Cape Town.

Cape Town also contributes a lot to make sure that they have a higher educational system to provide management level professionals for the major corporations that do business here. The University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University are two of the top rated universities in the country and are located in the Western Cape of South Africa.

Cape Town provides international businesses a way to advertise through their major sporting events. The Western Cape of South Africa is home to international events including rugby, soccer, surfing, hockey, and sailing. Many large corporations sponsor these events in return for global publicity and commercial time on their satellite broadcasts.

Any way you look at it, the Western Cape of South Africa has all of the tools that any business, large or small, needs to succeed. Cape Town has the new office space, transportation, shipping, advertising venues, and educated business professionals that any business must have to excel. With all of this available, the Western Cape of South Africa is one of the smartest places in the world to do business.<bio>We are your source for Cape Town Accommodation, Cape Town Hotels, Knysna Accommodation, and more for your next vacation to the Western Cape.</bio>

Cape Town, usually referred to by locals as 'the mother city' is the largest city in the Western Cape of South Africa. With a population of 3,500,000, this bustling metropolis is also the center for business, a major port, and headquarters for some of the largest corporations in the region. Its beauty and landscape make it one of the most renowned tourist destinations in the world and its diverse population gives it a unique culture. Situated at the base of the majestic Table Mountain, Cape Town is truly the premiere city of the Western Cape of South Africa.

The landscape of Cape Town is unforgettable. The most outstanding feature of Cape Town is the constant and unavoidable presence of Table Mountain. Rising over 3,300 feet above the city bowl of Cape Town, it dominates the city and much of the Western Cape of South Africa. Riding the cable cars through the clouds to the top affords both a view of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans as well as the cliffs and coastline of the Cape. The weather of the Western Cape is generally mild year round, which makes Cape Town a pleasant place to live and work.

There are many suburbs of Cape Town, each with its own personality. This is the result of the diverse heritage of the Western Cape of South Africa, which includes Indonesian, French, Dutch, British, and German settlers as well as the native Afrikaners who inhabit the region. This makes for an eclectic collection of shops, restaurants, and the largest collection of Cape Dutch style architecture in the world.

There are an endless amount of attractions in Cape Town including whale watching, diamond emporiums, and the beaches of the Western Cape 'Riviera,' but perhaps the most important sites to see are the historical ones. The Western Cape of South Africa is home to news-making places like Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for his protests of apartheid.

These landmarks are important reminders of a time when Cape Town was forcefully segregated into restricted districts. In 1948, when apartheid was introduced, the Western Cape of South Africa experienced extreme unrest, with little economic growth. As the popularity of apartheid declined and prisoners were released, Cape Town was finally able to take its place as a world class venue.

Cape Town industries include tourism, manufacturing, mining, drilling for oil, and the importing and exporting of goods. Many major companies have headquarters in Cape Town and the real estate market in the Western Cape of South Africa is booming.

The educational system of the Western Cape of South Africa is also centered in Cape Town. This is thanks to the generous local donations that help fund both the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, which are the leading universities in South Africa.

Cape Town has survived an incredible amount of adversity to become a city that the Western Cape of South Africa can be proud to call its most well-known city. In fact, this extremely diverse city on the Western Cape of South Africa is a model for all world class destinations to take a look at for their own inspiration.<bio>We are your source for Cape Town Accommodation, Cape Town Hotels, and more for your next vacation to the Western Cape.</bio>

The port and town of Falmouth is found on the River Fal and is located on Cornwall's south coast. The actual harbour in the town is the third deepest natural one in the world and holds the title of being the deepest in Western Europe. Certainly when it comes to Falmouth vacations, there is plenty for one to do and see not just in the town but the surrounding area as well.

Certainly when it comes to finding accommodation in this town, you are not limited. A number of the beautiful Georgian town houses located in it have been converted either into hotels or into guesthouses. Many of these have the most amazing views of one of the five beaches that it boasts. The first of these being next to the Pendennis Castle, then you have Castle Tunnel, Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and finally Maenporth.

As well as the beaches on which you can spend summer days soaking up the sun as this part of the UK gets more sunshine than many other parts. You can if you want learn more about this part of England's maritime history through a visit to the National Maritime Museum. The building that the museum is housed in was designed by M J Long and has only been open since February 2003.

Along with the port still fully functioning as a cargo one where the transfer of goods takes place. The port is also a popular stopping point with many cruise ship operators as well. In 2007, the port was expecting 64 cruise ships to actually stop in at Falmouth port before continuing on their journeys. The port is still a vital part of the town as it is still a major contributor towards the town's economy.

However, over the years because of its location and the surrounding area this town has been popular with film and television crews. During 1935, the actor Will Hay was to be found staying in the town whilst the comedy film "Windbag the Sailor" was being produced. Then in 1948, it was used as a backdrop for some of the scenes featuring Sir John Mills when Scott of the Antarctic was being filmed. In addition, the town has been used as a backdrop for the Disney film Treasure Island that was made in 1950.

Certainly, if you are old enough or if you have seen these films you will soon be able to recognise some of the places in the town as you wander around that featured in it. Although this is a very popular place with tourists from around the world, the town has tried to retain as much of its original character as it possibly can.

For those who are looking for somewhere to go that offers peace and tranquility then Falmouth vacations may be the ideal choice.
If a man retires from the world to worship God, he must not think that those who live in the world and work for the good of the world are not worshipping God: neither must those who live in the world, for wife and children, think that those who give up the world are low vagabonds. Each is great in his own place. This thought I will illustrate by a story.

A certain king used to inquire of all the Sannyasins that came to his country, "Which is the greater man -- he who gives up the world and becomes a Sannyasin, or he who lives in the world and performs his duties as a householder?" Many wise men sought to solve the problem. Some asserted that the Sannyasin was the greater, upon which the king demanded that they should prove their assertion. When they could not, he ordered them to marry and become householders. Then others came and said, "The householder who performs his duties is the greater man." Of them, too the king demanded proofs. When they could not give them, he made them also settle down as householders.

At last there came a young Sannyasin, and the king similarly inquired of him also. He answered, "Each, O king, is equally great in his place." "Prove this to me,"asked the king. "I will prove it to you," said the Sannyasin, "but you must first come and live as I do for a few days, that I may be able to prove to you what I say." The king consented and followed the Sannyasin out of his own territory and passed through many other countries until they came to a great kingdom. In the capital of that kingdom a great ceremony was going on. The king and the Sannyasin heard the noise of drums and music, and heard also the criers; the people were assembled in the streets in gala dress, and a great proclamation was being made. The king and the Sannyasin stood there to see what was going on. The crier was proclaiming loudly that the princess, daughter of the king of that country, was about to choose a husband from among those assembled before her.

To read the rest of the story visit http://www.spiritual-simplicity.com <bio>Swami Vivekananda was a prolific speaker, a life changing catalyst and a real master of spirituality.
While Cape Town certainly has plenty of activities and sights to offer on its own, there are also numerous sights to see around Cape Town as well. Located just a short distance from Cape Town is the town of Greyton. A drive from Cape Town to Greyton will take you approximately ninety minutes when the weather is good and traffic is minimal.

Greyton Lodge is well known in the area for offering warm and charming accommodations. Whether you want to enjoy the in-house Jazz pianist or simply curl up by a warm fire on cool evenings, there are plenty of opportunities to relax at this lodge. Two dining rooms offer ample space for dining and complete an environment that is nothing short of homey and charming.

If you happen to time your trip so that it coincides with a weekend, you will most certainly want to make a stop by the market that takes place on the village green on Saturday mornings. Whether you just want to wander around and browse or a pick up a jar of lemon curd, this is certainly an enjoyable way to spend a morning.

There are also plenty of fine restaurants and cafes located in the local area where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch. From trendy and artsy to cozy and welcoming, there are plenty of different options here to suit your tastes.

Hermanus is another lovely town situated not far from Cape Town. On a good day's drive, Hermanus is about an hour's drive from Greyton and it is certainly a gorgeous drive.

Among the sights that you will want to enjoy once you arrive in Hermanus is the seafront. Even on days when the weather is not at its best, a walk along the seafront is well worth it. The old harbor here is quite interesting and offers views that are spectacular.

Dining in Hermanus is also superb as there are numerous restaurants which serve fine meals. If you're looking for a way to work off all of those calories, you can head over to the Hermanus Golf course for a day on the green practicing your swing.

Of course, there is no better way to top off a trip to Hermanus than by paragliding. The local area is known for its paragliding opportunities and with the spectacular views that surround this beautiful region, it is little wonder. Sir Lowry's Pass is one of the better places for paragliding, offering expansive views that look out toward Cape Town over Somerset West. If you have never gone paragliding before, rest assured that you will receive ample instruction that should help you to set aside any case of nerves you might experience. The views that offered as you sail towards the ground and then experience a soft landing are definitely worth the experience.

If you're looking for something a bit different to do than traveling the wine routes during a visit to Cape Town, a visit to Hermanus and Greyton are definitely in order.<bio>We are your source for Cape Town Accommodation, Cape Town Hotels, Knysna Accommodation, and more for your next vacation to the Western Cape.</bio>

Located in Wake County, you will find the town of Knightdale, which holds a history involving an agricultural location that was once situated on the railroad. During the 1990s, the town experienced an increase in population due to its associations with Research Triangle Park. Some consider the town a suburb of Raleigh, which is the capital of the state. Below you will find a couple of reasons highlighting the interest attached to the town of Knightdale.

Recreational Outlets

Both the youths and the adults of the town are exposed to a variety of recreational outlets involving all of the seasons. In the spring, baseball and softball open up to the kids and adults of the town. The summer season offers league basketball, while the winter features adult basketball leagues and many other activities that take place at the Knightdale Recreation Center. The center provides a cure for boredom with self-defense, yoga, hip-hop, photography, and swim classes.

Good Communication with Residents

Knightdale is a town that is known for maintaining good communication with their citizens. Weekly updates on the progress of their hometown are conveyed through an online newsletter. The town website also keeps residents thoroughly informed on the latest news, headlines, and decisions that government officials have made. Citizen driven programs are also encouraged and offered by the town.

Great for Kids

Knightdale is a great place for kids to live because they are offered a wealth of attractions and activities that both enrich and entertain their lives. For instance, youth sports clubs provide kids an outlet with Knightdale Soccer and Knightdale Football. Boy Scout Troop 347 also holds various events for the interested.

A Wide Range of Local Businesses

The businesses situated in town allow residents to satisfy their needs as they search for the perfect dinner or seek out a place to gain rest and relaxation. Knightdale is home to the Appearance Salon and Spa; Castle Farms; CiCi's Pizza; Joy Hamilton Photography; Knightdale Academy of Gymnastics; and the Wil-Mar Golf Club.

Random Perks

While some people enjoy the busy atmosphere of a large city, others enjoy the calm of a smaller population. With these types of towns (where everyone knows your name) random perks may arise. For example, towns like Knightdale offer events, such as Spring Cleanup, where town residents receive yard waste and bulk item pickup for free on a designated week of the year. <bio>The author would like you to visit http://www.buyersadvantagegroup.net/knightdale_real_estate.php and http://www.buyersadvantagegroup.net. </bio>

You may have heard of a little town on the North Carolina coast called Oriental. In fact, this little village calls themselves the sailing capital of North Carolina.

It would seem that that is not just idle talk either - Oriental boasts a boat to resident ratio of over 3 to 1. That's 875 residents and over 2,700 boats.

But what draws people to Oriental? Here is an overview of why people, especially boaters and sailors, like Oriental so much.

1: Fine sailing. What may be rather obvious is that the number one attraction at Oriental is the fact that is offers such fine sailing. The Pamlico and Albemarle sounds and the Neuse river create a buffer that moderates the temperatures in Oriental - Winter is generally short and mild, and likewise summertime is not too harsh. Statistics in Sail Magazine indicate that Oriental has more sunny days, more water to sail in, and better winds than San Diego, California.

2: A Charming Town. Visitors to Oriental will find themselves in a cozy, friendly little seaside village. There are great places to walk, bike, or just sit and enjoy the scenery. In addition to all of the water surrounding this little town, you'll find the scenery on land to be worthwhile, too. Many visitors especially enjoy the old homes on South Avenue.

3: Fishing. With a variety of salt, fresh and brackish water to try your luck in, Oriental is a great place to fish. You can fish from the bank, launch your boat, or hire a local guide to help you find the fish. No matter which way you choose to do it, there's fishing enough for everyone in the little NC town!

As the Oriental NC website proudly advertises, you can visit their little town and sail, paddle, fish, eat...or just do nothin! It's up to you! <bio>Interested in moving to Oriental?
