Some parrots learn to talk well, while others never talk at all.

There are certain things, though, that all parrots have in common. They all like to live in warm places, for one thing. In addition, consider the following four similarities.

1. Beak: Every parrot has a curved, hooked beak. The beak is very strong, and able to inflict a deep wound. Its primary purpose, though, is to crack open strong nut shells or tear apart other food. A parrot uses its bill for "transportation" at times, too, pulling itself to a higher branch or perch with the strong bill. 2. Body: Every parrot has an upright body. Most birds, by comparison, have a horizontal body. Parrots' bodies are upright like humans.

3. Legs: Parrots have 2 short legs.

4. Toes: How many toes does a parrot have? All parrots have 4 toes on each foot. Parrot toes are zygodactyl. That means the first and fourth toes are turned backward. The second and third toes turn forward. Song birds also have 4 toes, but they have 3 toes forward and 1 toe backward.

Useful Parrot Toes

Parrot toes make for awkward walking, but they are very useful tools. Parrots can use the 2-forward, 2-backward combination as humans use a thumb and finger, grasping objects tightly between back and front toes.

The 4 parrot toes produce a foot pattern that lets them grasp branches and move along a branch. Progress is always sideways in slow, deliberate steps.

The 4 parrot toes also enable a parrot to grasp food in its foot. Using its 2 front toes and 1 of the back toes, it holds the food tightly as it bites off pieces with its beak. A parrot usually holds the perch with its right foot, and lifts food to its mouth with the left foot.

Parrot toes are useful for tricks, too. Many parrots delight in showing off for your praise by dangling upside down from a perch or the ceiling of their cage, often by only 1 toe! In the wild, this trick helps them reach food.

Parrot Toes in Training

The first step in training a parrot is to acquaint the parrot with your touch. Its 8 parrot toes can be your bridge to success in this. Gently touch those parrot toes for a moment, and then withdraw your hand. Wait a few second, and then reach into the cage to touch the toes again. Let your parrot see that nothing bad happens when you touch its toes. When it accepts this touch, move on to touch its legs, and work your way up the parrot. Be sure other family members also touch the bird frequently so it does not become a one-person parrot.

When you are ready to finger train your bird, those parrot toes will again be important. Choose the evening, when your parrot has eaten and is less lively. In a quiet room, open the cage door slowly, and put your index finger into the cage. Slowly touch the parrots' abdomen and it will hop onto your finger, clinging with its toes to maintain balance. Do not remove it from the cage the first few days. Simply repeat your finger training. When it is at ease with the action, slowly pull your finger with the parrot on it toward the cage door where you have placed a treat. With patience, your parrot will soon respond to a "Step Up" command and get on your finger when asked.

Always remember that a parrot will never step down -- only up. Always hold your finger or a perch above the parrot's toes.

A clever trick that is quickly learned by a parrot is a cute wave of those 4 parrot toes. You can also teach it to put its foot to its beak on command.

Parrot Toes and Toys

It is important to keep parrot toes busy and exercised. Parrot foot toys are an answer that provides entertainment as well as exercise. Parrot foot toys are small enough for a parrot to hold with its foot. The parrot will then chew the toy, getting great enjoyment out of its destruction!

How Many Toes Does a Parrot Have? Exactly the right number to walk, climb trees, move along branches, eat food, learn tricks, and play. <bio>©2007, Anna Hart.
I am pretty sure that many of you have had a hard ridge of skin on your toes especially your little toe. This hardness if skin can be a corn. Foot corns grow on our toes in response to our body's demand for protection against the pressure and friction that is being applied on that area. This is a normal body condition and it is not very serious unless it becomes an ulcer.

There are different medical names that foot corns are known by. They are hyperkeratosis, clavus, heloma and tyloma. A foot corn will grow where there is pressure applied onto the skin. The friction of a foreign object against that tender area will cause the body to develop a layer of hard skin in that place. As time passes and the pressure and friction has not been removed the hard skin has formed into a cone shape with a hard center.

After a certain amount of time the corn will be treated by your body as a foreign object and the body will begin to reject the corn. There are two types of foot corns, these are hard corns which grow on your toes and soft corns which grow between your toes. Soft foot corns are given the title soft due to the fact that the moisture that is between the toes contributes toward the softness of the corn.

There are a few ways that foot corns can develop on your feet. They are wearing shoes that are too tight and constricting, biomechanical or gait abnormalities, and hammer toes or other foot deformities. Hammer toes can cause the growth of foot corns because there is an area where increased pressure is applied to the toe, this will cause the foot corns. Biomechanical or gait abnormalities can cause corns to form due to the pressure that is being applied when an individual with those problems walks.

The best way to treat foot corns is to remove the pressure that is being applied to them and let your foot slowly begin to heal itself. Once the foot corn is completely gone the most sensible way to prevent foot corns from reforming on your toes is to wear correct shoes that do not rub against your skin and ones that aren't too tight.

As many of us have had problems with foot corns it is best to deal with the problem as soon as possible. While there are a number of medications and topical lotions that you can try, the best way to see about completely removing any stubborn foot corns is to let your podiatrist see what can be done safely and properly. By consulting a podiatrist you will be able to eliminate the problems of foot corns once and for all. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

Well, if you want to learn yoga from an expert then Yoga Toes is the place for you. The expert in question is Amanda Giacomini who has more than a decade's experience with yoga and is a qualified teacher. Along with her husband, Giacomini has formed Yoga Toes with the aim of conducting workshops and providing training to students interested in yoga.

Having traveled to India more than once, the couple has obtained yoga training from the leading teachers of yoga in India and they believe that gentle as well as intelligent adjustments to the art taught to them will help others to learn the practice of yoga more easily. As yoga is believed to have originated in India, they felt going to the roots for the training was the best course of action.

A Group of Three Accomplished Yoga Teachers

Another notable person associated with Yoga Toes, besides the Giacominis, is Wendy McLaughlin who also has many years of teaching experience of yoga. She can teach the physical, emotional as well as psychological aspects of yoga and is the person providing focus on Restorative Yoga which essentially is gentle poses that help to open the body and release tension as well as permit energy that heals the nervous and immune system.

At Yoga Toes, you will find that it is also possible to get personalized attention. This is especially useful for beginners who need to understand the basics before joining group classes. It is also useful for those that are injured, but who still wish to learn how to practice yoga in a safe manner. The costs to you would be around $75 for an hour and $100 for 90 minutes.

Beyond Asanas

At Yoga Toes, it is also possible to come together on a birthday, or to celebrate a wedding, or enjoy a family reunion for a reasonable fee. You can also bring your children to Yoga Toes for them to learn yoga as both the Giacominis are trained to teach yoga to kids. Besides learning yoga, you can get life coaching, massages; have acupuncture performed as well as avail of facial rejuvenation. It is kind of a spa where you can begin the session with meditation and exercise and then relax with a facial or massage.

And, if you want to learn different forms of yoga, then Yoga Toes will teach you ashtanga yoga, vinyasa yoga, gentle yoga, restorative yoga, and meditation as well as offer lessons in groups, or in private. <bio>Ann Marier writes informative articles about family life and general health issues, Her latest are about losing weight with yoga.
While many of us have experienced having our bodies and necks massaged and soothingly rubbed there are very few of us who think that our feet might need this pampering too. A foot massage is the best type of pampering that we can give our tired and aching feet.

You can give your feet a soothing foot massage or ask a friend to help you have a foot massage. To start your foot massage you will need to have your feet cleaned. You can soak your feet in Epsom salts, lavender or peppermint oil for 10 minutes in a warm water foot bath.

Dry the feet thoroughly and make sure that even the area between your toes is dry. Once the feet are beginning to dry you will need to rub some soothing oil on your feet. Hold one foot in your lap and use one hand to support this foot.

With the other hand you should begin to massage the top of the foot. For this part of the foot massage you will need to use your thumbs. Slow, firm, stroking motions that start at your toes and move upwards to the ankles are the best way to start this foot massage.

When you are near the ankles the foot massage will follow the same path back down to your toes. The return journey should be accompanied by slow stroking with the thumbs providing the required massage. The pressure that is applied at the toes should be lighter than at the ankle. You will need to repeat this foot massage 5 times.

Next in a cupping motion you will need to gently hold the heel of your foot. With your free hand hold the top of the foot and gently rotate the foot. The first rotation should be done clockwise and next anticlockwise.

Repeat this step about 4 times to relax, calm and de-stress your aching foot and ankle joints. This foot massage must be done gently so that you don't end up hurting your foot as a result of the foot massage.

When you have completed rotating the foot you will need to give your soles a really soothing foot massage. This part of the foot massage begins at the base of your big toe. The foot massage for the toes starts with the big toe.

Once your big toe has been given a de-stressing massage, the foot massage will then move towards the other toes. Gentle rolling motions can provide the ball of your foot a relaxing foot massage.

By the time your foot massage will have been carried out on both of your feet, you will have calmed down and your day's stresses will have vanished as well. The added bonus is that your feet are all ready for walking around your home with no aches or pains to be felt. <bio>Author's sites: http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://myshabi.blogspot.com , http://myaroma.blogspot.com </bio>

A ballet dancers best friend are her ballet shoes. The wrong shoes can result in disater. Ballet shoes that are not well fitted can cause a dancer to improperly execute ballet techniques. Injury and improper balance can also occur when ballet shoes are not properly fitted. Any ballet dancer with a little experience knows that properly fitted ballet shoes are critical to good performance.

Ballet shoes have five components: The binding, quarters, drawstrings, side seams, and pleats. Each of these parts must be adjusted to fit the dancer's foot exactly. Properly fitted ballet shoes will ensure the dancer can feel the floor beneath them. In other words, ballet shoes should fit like a glove.

Grace, poise, and technique is the essence of ballet. To accomplish this a ballet dancer must have excellent fitting ballet shoes. For the best fitting ballet shoes, there are necessary steps that must be taken. Here are four tips to help a ballet dancer achieve this.

Number One - Realize your feet can be different sizes, meaning your ballet shoes may not be exactly the same. It is sometimes necessary for ballet dancers to have two different sized ballet shoes. Try on various ballet shoes to see what fits best.

Number Two - Make sure to wear tights when fitting your ballet shoes, just as you would when wearing your ballet shoes to dance. This will ensure a better fit. Never try on ballet shoes without wearing tights.

Number Three - When you first put on your ballet shoes, pay close attention to your toes. Stand flat on the floor. If your toes curl, you need to change your size, as your ballet shoes are not fitting correctly. If your toes curl you cannot achieve proper technique while dancing and you will have a poor performance. Injury may also occur if you cannot perform the proper dance techniques because of your toes curling. If your ballet shoes are too large you will curl your toes in an effort to keep the ballet shoes on. This can also result in a poor performance, bad technique, and possible injury.

Number Four - The last step is to criss-cross your drawstrings, then "pointe" your foot. There should be no gap in the width of your ballet shoes. Simply put, this means there should be no extra space at any part of your ballet shoes. There should also be absolutely no toe room. If there is toe room you will not be able to properly "pointe" your foot. You will also not be able to feel the floor beneath you. Hence you cannot perform any dance techniques properly.

Properly fitted ballet shoes are crucial for a ballet dancer. With these tips in mind you will be able to properly fit your ballet shoes, and be on your way to a beautiful dance performance. <bio>Did you know that 95% of people who start ballet classes will fail miserably... Here's how you can succeed: http://www.squidoo.com/learnballetonline </bio>

There are times we will feel a sudden pain in one of our feet. The pain will be between the 3rd and 4th toes. This pain is Foot Neuroma or as it is also known Morton's Neuroma. This is a common foot problem. When you have Foot Neuroma there will be swelling. Sometimes there will be an inflammation of a nerve ending.

The symptoms that you will experience if you do have Foot Neuroma can be sharp pain, burning, numbness, tingling, cramping in the front part of the foot and sometimes there will be a lack of feeling in that part of the foot.

When we experience Foot Neuroma it is because the bones of the 3rd and 4th toes are squeezing a nerve that is located between them. You will get the symptoms of Foot Neuroma after there has been significant pressure on the front of the foot. The activities that cause this type of pressure are walking, standing, jumping or even sprinting. These are high impact activities that have been known to put a high amount of pressure and stress on your feet.

The other way that you can get Foot Neuroma is by wearing shoes with pointed toes and high heels. The high heels put pressure on the foot as the weight of the body is supported by the front part of your feet. As there is no other balance for the foot your body is forced to rely on the ball of the foot to balance the body while you are walking, standing or any other activity.

By wearing narrow pointed toe shoes you can cause Foot Neuroma as the cramped area in the shoe forces your foot bones to clamp together. This cramped position besides being uncomfortable for you also causes Foot Neuroma as the constricted bones pinch the nerve between the 3rd and 4th toes.

Foot Neuroma is a treatable foot ailment that can also be prevented from occurring altogether. The first step to curing your Foot Neuroma is to select and wear the right shoes. The shoes that you should choose must have a wide area for the toes and the top of the shoes must not press down onto your feet.

You should then consider wearing an orthotic that has been designed with a metatarsal pad. The pad will be placed behind the ball of the foot. By having the metatarsal pad placed in this spot the pressure on the foot is relieved as the weight on the foot is evenly distributed throughout the foot. This position will relieve the pain of Foot Neuroma.

As you can see Foot Neuroma is a foot condition that can be cured with very simple steps. The main thing that is needed for your Foot Neuroma to go away is for the pressure to be removed. Any shoes that will cause the pain of Foot Neuroma must be avoided. By following these simple conditions you can be free of Foot Neuroma forever. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

After a tiring day whether it is at work or simply shopping when you return home the first thing that you notice is that your feet are killing you. The simplest thing that you can do to relieve this pain is to sit down and take your shoes off. This takes away the immediate pains. Then you wriggle your feet and toes to restore the blood circulation in your feet. This helps a little more but to give your entire foot total relief having a foot massage is sheer bliss.

A loved one or even you can provide the benefits of a foot massage. The main things that you need will be a comfortable place to keep your foot on, creams, oils, essential oils that are used for massages and your favorite soft mood music or even a meditation CD.

To give yourself a foot massage you will first need to get your feet clean and dry including between the toes. You can if you want to soak them in a foot bath with Epsom salts. This foot bath will de-stress you so that you feel even more relaxed. Next rub your massage oil onto your foot.

Holding your foot that is in your lap gently in one hand to support it, with the other hand begin to massage the top part of your foot. Use your thumbs for this massage. Use slow, firm stroking motions that start at the toes and move upward towards the ankles. Once you come to the ankles following the same path massage your way down to your toes. The pressure of the massage must be lighter than at the ankle. Repeat this foot massage 5 times.

Next gently hold the heel of your foot in a cupping motion. With your other hand hold the top of the foot and gently rotate the foot first clockwise and after anticlockwise. Do this 3 to 4 times to relax, calm and de-stress the foot, ankle joints and your senses. Do this foot massage gently so that you don't hurt yourself.

Now still holding your foot in one hand, with the other hand, massage the sole of your foot with the thumb. Begin at the base of your big toe and slowly move towards the other toes. Use gentle rolling motions to give the ball of your foot a relaxing foot massage.

You can then knead your foot. Here you will use your thumb or the finger tips to give the massage. Knead the sole of the foot in a back and forth motion. With your knuckles "Knead" the second joints of your foot. Use large pressing and rotating motions but be gentle.

By the time you will have ended your foot massage not only will your feet feel good but you will have calmed down and your day's stresses will have vanished as well. Instant bliss. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

Our lives are quite hectic and we are constantly moving. This continual movement can put an enormous amount of pressure on our feet. Generally we can find relief from standing by taking the weight off a foot that is more hurtful than the other. Sitting down can also provide instant relief. What happens when the pain moves to the ball of the foot? How do you find relief from ball foot pain?

Ball foot pain is the painful foot condition that can occur in the area just before the toes. It is also a common foot disorder. Ball foot pain affects the bones and joints of the foot. The area that is affected is called the metatarsal region therefore ball foot pain is also called Metatarsalgia. We can find that the most pain occurs just near the 2nd, 3rd and 4th toes. Sometimes however ball foot pain is isolated near the big toe.

The main reason for ball foot pain occurring is due to our wearing the wrong types of shoes. Shoes that have a narrow toe area, especially women's shoes, forces the ball foot area to become restricted. This tiny amount of toe space can inhibit the walking process and it can also lead to extreme discomfort in the front of our feet.

Ball foot pain is very painful and sometimes one of the metatarsal heads (the cushion just before the toes) becomes inflamed. The inflammation occurs due to excessive pressure placed on that region over a long period of time. With ball foot pain it is common to experience acute pain as well as chronic and recurring ball foot pain.

Other reasons for ball foot pain are very high heels, high impact activities that are done without wearing any supporting footwear and orthotics as well. Also aging is another factor in ball foot pain. In this case the cushion in our feet that is near the toes become thin. This thinning out of the fat pad in the metatarsal area can also cause ball foot pain.

In order to cure ball foot pain you need to know what is causing the pain. Any shoes with pointy toes should not be worn any longer. Also wearing footwear with high, wide toe spaces and a low wedge heel reduces the pressure on the foot and stops ball foot pain.

Other ways of relieving pressure to ball foot pain can be done in a variety of ways. There are many foot care products that can be used to help relieve ball foot pain. Orthotics which is designed to relieve ball foot pain will usually feature a metatarsal pad.

The orthotic is made so that the metatarsal pad is placed just behind the area of the metatarsal to relieve the pressure in the foot. Other items that you can use are gel metatarsal cushions and metatarsal bandages. When you wear these products with proper footwear you will experience an immediate relief. And when your feet stop hurting you immediately feel better. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

High heels have been around for a very long time. Though they are not the epitome of sophistication and womanly sexiness, they have been serving similar purposed for men and for women for a long time. High heeled shoes are depicted in ancient Egyptian art in murals but the first history of heels goes back even further. The Egyptian depictions took place around 4000 BC and showed images of people wearing high heels in murals on the walls of ancient tombs and temples. The shoes depicted were flexible pieces of leather held on the foot with leather lacings. The next incarnation was a sort of platform sandal in 200 BC. These platform sandals were called kothorni. They had high wood soles and were used predominantly by tragic Roman actors. The kothorni were utilized mostly to give the advantage of height. Next, in 1000 CE the tradition came into play that the father of the bride in a Saxon wedding would give one of the bride's shoes to the groom in order to symbolize the passing of authority from one man to another.

Shoes were not always simply for the purpose off beauty nor were they always simply functional. In 1154 King Henry II of England began to wear a shoe with narrow and pointed toes. This started a trend among the courtiers even though it was rumored that Henry wore these shoes in order to hide a deformation of his toes. In the 12th century CE, knights began to wear shoes with downward curving toes in order to keep their feet in the stirrups of their horses. Shoe toes were a big point of contention. It came to a point in the early thirteenth century where the length and pointed extremes of one's shoes were directly indicative of rank and prowess within a community. Kings and princes would wear shoes with toes up to 30 inches long!

The women's' obsession with shoes doesn't begin in any modern form until the mid 18th century with Madame de Pompadour and Marie Antoinette who start trends in their courts regarding footwear. Madame de Pompadour made popular shoes that were named after her "Pompadour". Unfortunately these shoes were very high and very narrow and too many ladies fainted at court because they tried to reduce the apparent size of their feet. Marie Antoinette went to her death in two inch heels less than 50 years later. <bio>Dana Bradley writes about http://www.onlineshoesdepot.com/Coupons/Payless%20Shoes.html, Men Foot Wear and http://www.onlineshoesdepot.com </bio>

In spite of the fact that our feet carry our entire weight and constantly keep our balance, our feet are delicate structures. They are made from 26 bones and 33 joints. There is also a layer of 126 intertwining foot muscles, ligaments and nerves in that region. Sometimes an injury that is caused to that area will bring on top of foot pain.

Top of foot pain is a general term that is used to describe a pain in the top surface of the foot. Top of foot pain is a sharp pain that can be found on the top surface of the foot near the second toe. There are times when the pain can be found around the 3rd and 4th metatarsal.

There are 2 ways that you can get top of foot pain. Top of foot pain can be caused by a stress fracture or tendentious of a metatarsal tendon. When a high impact activity like running is carried out with injuries like heel pain, shin pain and other injuries, this combination can lead to top of the foot pain. There are times when top of the foot pain is so severe that standing for brief moments is agony.

The reason for this severe agony is a condition called over pronation. You can control the pain by wearing insoles. There are other factors that can lead to top of foot pain. Ganglions which are sacs of jelly-like fluid develop following a tear in the joint capsules. The Ganglions form on the top of the foot and are also reasons for top of foot pain.

The other causes are Morton's Neuroma. This is an inflammation of a nerve that is between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal bones. Here the bones get cramped together and pinch a nerve that is between them. The pain from this can sometimes cause top of foot pain.

Also hammer toes can cause top of foot pain. In this problem one of the toes is bent sideways. This bent appearance causes your toes to appear misshapen. As a result of the toe being bent sideways it is difficult to wear shoes and sometimes it's painful to walk. For this reason hammer toes can give rise to top of foot pain.

There are many other foot injuries that can lead to top of foot pain. The best way to help control this condition is to wear insoles which give some support and relief to your foot. The insoles treat the cause of the foot pain which in turn causes top of foot pain. The insoles prevent the pain from reoccurring.

The other way that you can help ease the effects of top of foot pain is by wearing foot wraps. These have been designed to provide relief to the top of foot pain. This foot wrap will allow you to move about without feeling a great amount of pain. By wearing a foot wrap you are not restricted to one place, and your pain is light. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

On a longer board, you will have better balance. Therefore, you have greater ability to change positions while riding a wave. Long boarders can really show off on a wave by doing pirouettes, 180-degree turns, or by hanging 10. Hanging 10 is a phrase that means dangling your 10 toes off the front of your board, something that is possible only on a long board. Another phrase you might hear that refers to this maneuver is having your "toes on the nose," which literally means that you have 10 toes on the nose of your board. In either case, hanging 10 or having your toes on the nose is one of the most fun tricks you can do on a long board. It is one of the coolest maneuvers in the sport and one that simply cannot be performed on a short board in the same way.

Whatever trick you intend to perform on your long board, take the first few seconds on the wave to situate yourself on the board. Know where the front of your board is as well as what direction you are going. It might also help to determine how much longer you can ride the wave. You should also determine your "happy place" on the board. That is where you feel most comfortable while standing and riding on your board. Once you figure out where that is, remember it or mark it with a permanent marker. That will be your eternal reference point as your center of balance on the board.

Before you try to hang 10, you should practice moving forward and back on your board, using your permanent marker as your reference point. The best and quickest method of moving forward and backward on your board is to crisscross one foot in front of the other in a sideways fashion. Imagine you are walking on a tightrope sideways and you are walking in front of your marker and then in back of it. This movement is called cross stepping and is a crucial movement to master, should you like to perform other maneuvers on the long board.

When you feel you've mastered the cross step, you should be ready to hang 10. You have to be going fast enough on the wave to let you apply your body weight to the front of the board without falling off the wave. So, you need to accelerate by evenly distributing weight around your happy place. As you begin to gain momentum, you can then move forward on your board. Moving forward on your board has to happen steadily but quickly. You don't want to move up too fast or the board will topple over nose first. Too slow and the weight in the front of your board will slow you down and the wave will continue on without you. It is perfectly acceptable to cross step forward and back until you finally make it all the way up the front of your board, but waves don't last forever, so be sure to get there as quickly as you can.

When you've made it to the front of your board, all you have to do is get your toes over the tip of your board. Use your arms to keep your balance and enjoy. You can't hang 10 for long, though, so crisscross back to your original position before you lose too much speed.<bio>Robb Bailey works for South Coast Surf Shops, San Diego's premiere surfboard distributor and surf apparel dealer for more than 30 years.
There are a number of foot problems that can affect us. While there are some good medications to get rid of some of these foot ailments there are times when these pains can not be cured by various topical lotions. For these the only remedy is that of foot surgery.

Foot surgery is done by a trained podiatrist surgeon. In many of the cases the foot problems are not that severe. Bunions for instance can be treated with inserts to control incorrect foot mechanics. However for severe bunions day surgery is recommended. Here the long metatarsal bone is cut and then realigned so that it is straight. When the bone has been fixed it is held in place with a screw. The healing process will be fully completed in about several months.

For hammer toes if the symptoms are of a mild nature then all that needs to be done is the shoe type has to be changed. This will cause the hammer toes to be less painful. A splint can be used to hold the toes together. Surgery may be required if the symptoms of hammertoes is too severe. The surgery can correct the problem by releasing the soft tissues of the foot and by removing a bone piece from the toe.

Heel pain is a condition that causes an inflammation in the muscle that connects the heel to the rest of the foot. You can control this problem by using orthotics to support the arch of the foot. Foot surgery is used only if it is absolutely needed. In this surgery the fascia muscle is partially removed from the heel bone.

Morton's Neuroma is caused by the swelling of one of the nerves in the foot. This swelling takes place between the 3rd and the 4th toe bones. Neuroma can cause the sharp pain that spreads between the 2 infected toes. There will generally be burning pains, tingling, cramping and sometimes numbness while you are walking.

Morton's Neuroma can be treated by changing your shoes to a wider shape. This will reduce the symptoms of Neuroma. You can wear orthotics to prevent the nerves from becoming irritated. In more severe cases cortisone injections will be able to relieve the pain and the swelling that is caused by the Neuroma. Surgery will only be needed to remove or to decompress the Neuroma.

As with all of these foot problems foot surgery is required only if the condition becomes too severe to be borne. When the surgery needs to be done it may require only day surgery and nothing more complicated. Before having foot surgery done it is best to try other methods of curing the pain of the various foot ailments. It is always best to avoid any type of surgery where possible. <bio> http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/free_download.html , http://www.healtharticles-lk.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/garden/family_garden_tips_index.html </bio>

Having a dog is a big responsibility. Some even compare taking care of a dog to that of a baby. The only advantage having dogs compared to having babies is that they won't grow older and turn into stressful teenagers. Because dogs are like babies they sometimes also end up in harmful situations. They would sometimes get themselves trapped in a tight place or get hit by something that will injure one of their limbs. When that happens, we should learn how to bandage our dogs to prevent further damage. Here are some basic ways of how to bandage your injured dog.

1. When your pet has a bandage, it should always be clean and dry. So it's pretty important to make sure your pet stays inside most of the time when it has a bandage. To prevent the bandage from getting wet when the pet goes to pee or poop, a trash bag or plastic covering should cover the bandaged leg. You may use empty bread bags. When your pet has wet or dirtied up the bandage, it would require changing. Make sure to check the bandage twice a day to see if it is clean and dry. Check also for foul odors or discharge and if there is any, call your veterinarian immediately.

2. After bringing home your pet from the veterinarian make sure that the bandage is still in place. Your pet might have been irritated by it and has chewed or tried to scratch it off. Look closely at the position and the location of the bandage when you do check. Look at the toes of the pet, the bandage might have slipped up making the toes stick out. Also look at the size, if the bandage has become loose. This should be taken into account when a dog has been bandaged in the abdomen or leg area. This is because one end will be bigger than the other and eventually become narrower. When the bandage telescopes down the limb of the dog it may bunch up and abrade the limb. When that happens, the bandage should be changed as well.

3. If the dog is bandaged up in the leg make sure it isn't too tight. Observe how the toes will appear at the bottom of the bandage at least twice a day. This is done to check for sweating, swelling, or pain. Check for skin chaffing, redness, discharge or swelling before and after the bandage has been applied.

4. To prevent the pet from chewing the bandage because of the bothersome experience it gives, put an Elizabethan collar. If you have observed that the pet is chewing or scratching it excessively, ask the vet if there might be problems.

These are the times that you should already be taking the pet back to the veterinarian:

• Swelling above or below the bandage • Chewing the bandage • Bandage becomes wet • Bleeding or discharge above, below or through • Scheduled bandage changes About The Author: Peter Garant's pet medicine site http://www.pet-meds-101.com concentrates on pet care and dog medicine http://www.pet-meds-101.com/your-dog.php

With the changing of the seasons, there is a need to go look at shoes for women at the local department store. Each of the new outfits in the wardrobe need to be paired with a wonderful new pair of shoes that will compliment the delicate color in the roses and flowers pattern of the outfits, or need to match that gorgeous handbag that happened to find their way into your closet.

It is a very interesting time when shopping for shoes for women, because the new styles have just been arrived and are attractively arranged on the shelves. The strap lengths and heel choices are very appealing this season but leave you in a quandary to figure out which will fit best on your particular foot. You take a wide styled shoe, and these seem to be just on the slim side but they all are just simply gorgeous nonetheless.

As you pick up this pair and that, a visual picture forms in your mind as to how this particular pair of shoes for women will look on your foot. Another shoes seem to have a more rigid instep than the others, and require a sterner observation. Yes, quite bendable and padded and this pair will give your foot added comfort than any you have seen so far.

The toe area on some of the shoes for women, are close and tight and look quite unappealing to this woman who has long toes and wide feet. The mental picture expands to her viewing herself in a tightly fitting pair of colorful shoes, with pink toes to boot from the pressure they would be under. These are quickly replaced on the shelf.

So early in the season for a sale, but you find some shoes for women that are discounted to attractive prices. With further observation you note that these are not new season shoes, but some left over from last season that have been drastically reduced from the prices that they were marked the previous year.

As you stand and consider the savings you would get against being current and in style, the appealing prices win over your desire to be in fashion, and you decide to buy the shoes for women that were on display at outrageously low prices that only a fool would pass by. Then you pause and wonder, with them being last seasons shoes, would this particular store have your particular size, to fit your particularly long toes and wide feet or would you need to see if they were stocked at the downtown shop of the same name. <bio>Jena Luthovski writes about http://www.onlineshoesdepot.com </bio>

Our feet are an important part of our bodies. Even though they are smaller than the rest of the body baring the hands, our feet take our entire weight. The foot region is made up of 26 bones and 33 joints. There is a layer of 126 intertwining foot muscles, ligaments and nerves. Our feet helps to support our weight, act as a shock absorber, propel us forward and the also maintain our balance on uneven surfaces. There are however times when we get a foot pain.

Usually we will experience foot pain in one of three different places. They are the toes, the front of the foot and at the back of the foot. The foot pain that originates in the toes is caused mainly by the fact that a great many of us wear shoes that do not fit us properly or that constricts the toes painfully.

The other area of foot pain is in the front part of our feet. This area is called the forefoot. Any foot pain that comes from that area usually involves one of certain bone groups. The first groups of bones is the themetatarsal bones. These are the five long bones that extend from the front part of our foot's arch to the bones in our toes.

The next group of bones that can cause foot pain is that of the sesamoid bones. These are the two small bones that are embedded at the top of the first metatarsal bone. This bone is connected to your big toe.

The other place that we can experience foot pain is in the back area of our feet. Any foot pain that we may feel begins at the back of the foot. It then extends across from the heel area and across the sole of the foot all the way to the ball of the foot.

From these three areas of foot pain we can experience chronic and severe types of foot pain. In both of the foot pain conditions the problem is made even worse by the fact that the lower back is affected as well.

There are about 16 different types of foot pain that we can get. Each of these has different symptoms but they all require a podiatrist's advice. Sometimes to relieve the pain simple surgery may be required.

The various types of foot pain are corns, calluses, ingrown toe nails, bunions on the big toe and bunionettes on the little toe, Morton's neuroma, hammertoe, Metatarsalgia or ball of the foot pain, Metatarsal stress fracture, sesamoiditis, Plantar fasciitis, Bursitis of the heel, Haglund's deformity or pump bump, Stress fracture or heel spurs, Tarsal tunnel syndrome, Flat feet or posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, High arches or hollow feet and Achilles tendonitis.

Whether we are suffering from a simple foot pain or a more severe foot pain the most sensible course of action that we can take is to see what our podiatrist has to say and follow the treatment. <bio> http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.herbalremedieslk.com/home_remedies.html , http://www.myanxietyguide.com </bio>

Before coming to your next concert event, before you slam your body with other bodies and before you have a nasty concert experience, here are some of the tips for you. It is important before going to a concert to fuel up and pack within before you rock without. Before rocking, you have to eat well. You have to have some energy for your mosh pit activities. You also have to hydrate yourself because we know that you'll be sweating and you woudn't want to faint. It is also important to hydrate especially if you will be taking in some alcohol, you need to get down with water.

In starting a fundraiser concert, finances are of course important. Above all, the point is raising funds, not losing them or just giving a free show. So we have to consider a bunch of do's in setting up out own concert. First is, start small by having a small concert. The artist fee should be as low as possible because you will be spending also on the other logistics. You should also check if the fee for the artists is required before the day of the concert or after the concert. This will allow you some room to make adjustments on the accounting and ticket sales.

Now, we will deal with other financial concerns. You must generate an ad revenue which is equal or approximately equal to the projected ticket sales. You must also generate an online count of tickets sold and ad generated. This way you would know if you are doing well or not. It is also a great idea to put up donations boxes. You must strategically place them in entrances, food stands, along the hall and other entry points. By doing this, additional funds and also the audience will be reminded of the cause of this concert.

One of which is the artists fee. The reason why we shouldn't have expensive artists is because we are trying to avoid lots of internal discussions and detailed planning on how to make enough profits. Keeping it low would enable us to focus on why we are raising fund. We wouldn't want a concert that has profits way less than the expenses. We won't go through the whole process of organizing a concert if this is so.

Maybe at one point in our lives we have dreamt of organizing our own concert. Usually the idea of having your own concert would be for a cause or a fundraiser concert. Don't let it remain a dream because you can achieve it only if you really want to achieve it. Don't let that dream die and I hope that this blog would help. In the next entries, we will present some tips and advices on starting your own fundraiser concert. Everything has to start somewhere and a fundraiser concert has some certain guidelines we should follow as framework.

Concerts are usually jam-packed and when you get nearer the concert stage it gets wilder. If you don't want you toes to be murdered, don't wear footwear that would expose your delicate toes. I went to a concert once and I wore sandals, and lesson learned, my toes were murdered. Also, we should wear something that wouldn't hurt us if it gets dirty or damaged due to the stomping in concerts. Or, if you still decide to wear your white sneakers, you can put it on display for proof that you went to that concert. Better, just show them concert battle scars (murdered toes).<bio>Jon Caldwell is a professional content manager.
Aches and pains in any part of your body certainly aren't any fun, but when it's your feet that hurt, your entire body seems to hurt.

Common foot pain can result from a myriad of different causes. The pain itself can range from mildly annoying all the way to debilitating. The pain can be fleeting or chronic. But no matter the reason, relief is the goal.

The vast majority of foot pain these days is caused by footwear; either improperly fitted, poorly designed or just plain worn out. The good news is that this means that the vast majority of foot pain is also easily eradicated.

With footwear, the biggest offender of feet is the shoes with pointed toes or high heels... or quite often... both. These types of shoes put your feet in a physically compromised position by cramping your toes and pushing the forward into this cramped area. If high heels and pointy toes are a fashion must for you... at the very least you should consider only wearing this type of shoe for special occasions and not for extended lengths of time.

Be mindful that your 'old' favorite pair of shoes may also be doing more damage than good and have you going down a path to sore 'footsville'. Sure, in their younger days the support they offered your foot was second to none; but today they are long in the tooth and the support for your foot is no longer there.

The shoes you wear should support and pad both your heel and your arch and have enough room for all your toes with putting a squeeze on them. If your shoes don't offer this, you may not notice any pain right away, but the effects may be just ahead.

If you have a ways to walk before you have to put on your stiffer dress shoes, consider using a comfortable pair of athletic shoes for the walk before you have to put on those stiffer more stylish shoes. This becomes even more important if you are already feeling the early stages of foot pain.

Try to wear shoes that have a good level of breath ability and offer good flexibility by avoiding shoes made of vinyl or plastic. And when it comes to trying on and purchasing shoes keep a couple points in mind. First, do your shoe shopping later in the afternoon after you have been up and around and on your feet for awhile. Your feet are actually smaller in the morning before they have had a chance to puff up a bit due to your daily activities. Secondly, measure both of your feet. It is not at all uncommon to have two different sizes of feet.

By following just a few simple guidelines you can prevent, and/or relieve many of the most common causes of foot pain.

Don't be a slave to fashion at the expense of your feet. <bio>For more important information on foot pain be sure to visit http://www.sore-foot-remedies.com where you will find advice and tips on common foot pain causes such as plantar fasciitis, foot corns, and other articles that you can view at http://www.sore-foot-remedies.com </bio>
