Here again is another example of the Cable TV advantage! Cable TV provides your Digital Cable TV, High Speed Cable Internet, and also Cable Telephone Service! Some call these three services bundled together the {Triple Play}. This saves the consumer much money purchasing these three great services together as a bundle. And also think of the convenience, One Wire One Bill!

With Cable telephone service, you get a lot more bang for your buck. Included with most Cable telephone services are call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, call waiting with caller ID, three-way calling, call forwarding, and many other service options at no extra charge. Just try getting those options from your land line service such as Verizon at no extra charge?? Good luck! Verizon would nickel and dime you and make that monthly phone bill far more expensive than Cable telephone.

A big advantage to digital cable phone service is it's similar to your digital cable TV. The data is compressed, which results in much less bandwidth being used than your old analog service.

Cable TV telephone service has the advantage of better voice quality, dependable service, much cheaper monthly bills than a land line, and still One Wire One Bill for all your cable services!

Something to note is in many cases, your cable digital phone service is separate from the High-speed internet service being offered by many cable companies and does not rely on TCP/IP traffic or the Internet.

With cable phone service you can always reach the people you care about most, family, friends, or business and hear them in a very crisp and crystal-clear sound, whether they're in your neighborhood or around the world. With cable telephone everyone is much closer.

Plus the typical cable telephone calling plans gives you unlimited nationwide calling in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Many people can keep their current phone number they now use, so everyone can still stay in contact and always know where to reach you.

Simplify your life, why have so many separate bills? While Vonage, SunRocket, and Packet8 are more desirable and affordable than your old land line from Verizon, it can't get any easier or more affordable than subscribing to a bundled service package such as Triple Play.

Contact your Cable TV provider today, for Cable Telephone, High-Speed Cable Internet, and of course your Cable TV needs.

Keep things simple, One Wire One Bill!

Will Rogers-"Always drink upstream from the herd." <bio>Learn all the services one small Cable can provide! http://www.cableplease.com/cable-telephone-service.html </bio>

Occasionally, a time will arise in our lives in which we need to find out who is the owner of a certain telephone number. For example, someone may keep calling you without leaving a message and you want to find out who it is.

Or maybe someone is prank calling you and you want them to stop. Perhaps a telemarketer won't stop calling despite your pleas to be left alone. Or maybe you suspect your husband and wife is cheating and you see a strange number on his or her cell phone.

Whatever your reason may be, you will most likely end up using a reverse phone number lookup service. These paid services can research any telephone number and provide you with a full phone report including the owner's name, address, connection status, type of phone line, and other details.

But before you spend money on these services let me tell you about a free method for looking up phone numbers. Just go to Google, Yahoo, or MSN, enter the telephone number, and click "search".

You may have to experiment a bit to get the right results. Try entering the number both in quotes and out of quotes, and try different number formats including:

777-777-7777

7777777777

(777)777-7777

While this method is free, it is not the most reliable. You have to hope that the owner posted his or her number somewhere on a website, forum, or blog such as MySpace. Also, keep in mind that the results are not guaranteed and could be outdated or outright incorrect.

Of course, it can't hurt to try since it's not costing you anything.

But if you strike out with the search engine method, your best bet is a reverse phone number lookup service. While they aren't free, the cost is pretty fair for the amount of information provided and the time saved. It would cost hundreds of dollars to pay a private investigator to collect all of the information in a typical phone report, but online services can offer you the same detailed information for around $14 per number. Also, some services will let you pay a one-time fee (usually around $39-59) for the right to run as many phone number searches as you want.

Why do they charge for the lookup service? Well first of all that's their business. If you were able to provide such a valuable service would you just give it away?

Also, the lookup services themselves are charged for each search they run. This is because their searches involve submitting a query to the databases of various telephone companies and cell phone carriers. The carriers charge the lookup service a fee each time the need to access the database for a search, so the lookup service has to pass along the cost to you. If they didn't they'd quickly find themselves out of business.

For this reason, there is no such thing as a free reverse phone number lookup service. They just don't exist. And if you see a lookup service promising "free" results, use caution. They are either using deceptive marketing to lure you in or they are teasing you with a free search in hopes that you'll pay for another of their services. <bio>Written by Mike Collins for http://Reverse-Telephone-Lookup.com </bio>

VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol and it is the technology which makes it possible to make telephone calls over your broadband internet connection instead of through the traditional telephone network. There are a variety of telecommunications companies now providing VOIP phone services which allow you to make cheap or sometimes free telephone calls through your internet connection.

So how does a VOIP phone service work?

VOIP internet telephone services convert normal speech into small data packets which can then be transmitted through your internet connection and then when the data packets are received at the other end, they are converted back into normal speech for the end receiver to hear.

What is the call sound quality of VOIP services generally?

VOIP phone call sound quality is usually better than mobile phone call sound quality, but not as good as the sound quality of a standard landline telephone call.

What are the main benefits of having a VOIP internet phone service?

The main benefit of having a VOIP phone service is the much lower cost of national and international telephone calls that you can make through the VOIP service. It is also possible to get free phone calls through some VOIP internet phone services .. A VOIP phone service can save you a good deal of money, especially if you make lots of international telephone calls. Another way you can save money with a VOIP service is that you can have a virtual phone number which you can take with you which in effect gives you a local call number which you can move from place to place, so you could live in Seattle and use your local number for Seattle when you are in San Francisco saving you the cost of long distance calls.

What do I need to have to get a VOIP phone service?

You need to have a broadband internet connection and an account with a VOIP telephone service provider.

What are the disadvantages of a VOIP service?

Well the phone call sound quality is not guaranteed by your VOIP broadband phone service provider and it is usually not as good as landline telephone call sound quality. The other major drawback of a VOIP service is that it will not work if your broadband connection goes down so in effect your VOIP service is only as good as your broadband connection. Also if you have a power failure, then your broadband phone service will not work, so it is highly recommended that you keep your landline and have a landline phone plugged into it so you always have a phone available for emergencies. <bio>Miguel Poza runs a website about broadband andamp; broadband service providers with many reviews of UK and US broadband services, a guide to broadband technology and links to cool broadband content.
When a person chooses their UK broadband access service they usually make their choice based upon a couple different factors. The biggest of which is what is available in their area.

Some types of UK broadband access is not available in all areas. Once a person figures out what their options are they can then begin to look into the different types of broadband service available.

One of the most popular types is ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. It is available to most of the UK and usually the broadband type of choice. ADSL is delivered through telephone lines and uses a modem or router.

ADSL can use the telephone without interfering with the telephone service, so unlike dial up with ADSL a person can be online an on the phone at the same time. Micro filters are used on the telephone sockets to allow for no telephone service interruption. To get ADSL a person must have a BT telephone line.

Another popular option is cable. This is often a good choice for a person that already has cable television. Cable internet uses a special modem and runs through the cable lines. It does not interfere with the telephone lines, as it does not use them at all.

For areas that can not get ADSL or cable broadband, the choice is often wireless internet. Wireless internet runs off radio signals. As the name suggests, there are no wires involved. Instead, antennas pick up and transmit the signals to provide internet connection.

Satellite is another option that is usually not as popular due to unreliability and cost. However, it is a good choice for those who can not get other types of broadband. It works through a satellite dish much like satellite television.

There is another satellite broadband that works much like ADSL, called SDSL. It runs through the telephone lines, but it does not work off a current telephone line and needs a special dedicated line of its own.

When a person goes to choose their broadband internet service they will usually have more than one option.

Most areas can get two or three different types of service. Once a person figures out the basics of each type of service they can then begin looking at the details to see which is best for them. Usually factors like cost, reliability and speed factor into the decision.

ADSL and cable are the most popular choices because they offer the best reliability, cost and speed. Satellite is the least chosen because it is the most expensive, but does not offer the top speeds of ADSL or cable and can sometimes be unreliable due to weather or other interference with the satellite. <bio>Robert Michael is a writer for http://www.ukispreview.co.uk which is an excellent place to find broadband links, For more information go to:broadband internet access </bio>

How do those beeping things work that people carry around on their belts? There are several types of pagers but, basically, it's all done by good, old- fashioned radio waves. Someone sends you a text message with a touch-tone phone -- or it can also be sent by email -- and the message is forwarded to the thing on your belt, which then emits a beep or vibration to tell you you've got a message. This is achieved through a cooperation of communication technologies -- basically, messages are broadcast on a certain radio frequency through a group of radio base stations, and the pager receives that message.

The pager has a LCD screen which displays the phone number or text message you are receiving. The simplicity or complexity of the kind of message the pager can receive depends, in part, on whether it is a numeric pager or an alphanumeric pager. If it is numeric, the caller's numeric message is what you receive (usually their phone number for you to call them back). If you have an alphanumeric pager, a text message is transmitted to you by a carrier operator's transcription of a telephonic message. Or text can be sent to you through an alpha entry terminal or a modem. Other options are two-way pagers which function through a PCS band, and interactive pagers which are like tiny computers, allowing telephone-free communications.

You can store a number of messages in your pager -- which include the time and date the message was sent -- and some have expanded memory to allow you to store even more. This way you can keep phone numbers and information you will need again.

Pagers run a long time on a small battery. One reason is that pagers function through the use of data blocks called codewords. There is a decoder that can determine whether the incoming codewords are for your pager or not and shut off if they are not. Thus, the battery's life is extended.

How far can you travel with your pager? The distance between your pager and the transmitter for which it has been programmed can vary. When you purchase your pager package, you can ask for local, regional or national coverage -- at, of course, increasing costs for your paging service and pager. It all depends on what you need -- the beauty of it is you can purchase a pager that will exactly fit your personal, professional and geographic requirements. <bio>http://pagershq.com Pagers, how they work and where to buy them from! </bio>

The "Voice Over Internet Protocol" telephone system is one of the modes of telecommunication via internet. The abbreviated form of "Voice Over Internet Protocol" is VOIP. It is a form of advanced computer technology that has affected the telephone systems.

Voice Over Internet Protocol

Actually, there are three different types of VOIP services. The most commonly used service for business purposes is the VOIP service processed by using an "Analog Telephone Adapter" which is also known as ATA. It is the simplest type of VOIP service as ATA permits the use of a standard phone and it does not require any specifically designed IP phones that are generally used in other types of VOIP services.

ATA functions by transforming the analog signals into a set of digital packets. These packets are forwarded to the broadband internet connection and are apportioned to the apt and appropriate telephone exchange for the call to get completed.

How The Use Of VOIP Phones Is Advantageous In Business

The VOIP telephone service has been gaining popularity tremendously, especially, in the field of businesses. The VOIP service providers permit the utilization of standard telephones which enables to make phone calls through a telephone connected to a landline telephone system.

The VOIP system is inexpensive as the making of calls by using this system does not require any setting of phone lines and even the charges of calls are very cheap. This feature of cheap call rates is very much beneficial for the business people who are managing their businesses at international levels. It is the most efficient method of telephone system.

Difference Between VOIP Telephone System And Regular Telephone System

There are many people those who are bit confused between a VOIP telephone system and a regular telephone system. No doubt, the purpose of both the telephone systems is to make phone calls but the main difference lies in the manner they both work.

In a regular phone system, the analog audio signals are forwarded through fiber optics in the form of telephone lines to the traditional telephone companies and get converted into the voices. But in case of VOIP telephone system, the analog signals get converted into digital packets and are then forwarded to the broadband internet connection, which are then distributed to telephone exchange for the completion of a call.

How To Select Perfect VOIP system

There are numerous VOIP service providers in the competitive market but you should choose the best among them. The following tips can really assist you in finding the best service provider.

1 - Before planning to opt for a VOIP service provider, you should always survey the market thoroughly by going through the reviews and testimonials of the existing or old users. This will help in getting a comparative scenario in front of you and will help in taking a decision.

2 - You should always choose the VOIP service that provides all the services required by you. For example, a method to upgrade VOIP network without any additional equipment, cheap local and international call rates, etc.

3 - Enquire from the service providers about the features that they proffer if the phones and the analog adapters have to be taken along on business trips that is whether they provide wireless phones or handsets in such a case or not.

The Voice Over Internet Protocol telephone system has proved to be a great model in the telecommunication industry because of its unique features. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.voiptransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
There has been a lot of discussion lately about VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) telephone service. VoIP is, indeed, becoming the alternative to traditional telephone service. But like any consumer product, it pays to shop around for the best price and service on VoIP internet phone service before you buy.

Virtually all VoIP service packages will surpass the minimal call waiting and voice mail bundles of traditional phone services. If you have commercials for a phone service provider that is advertising that their unlimited local and long distance call packages can be had for as low as $20 a month, then they are selling a VoIP phone system. And some of the packages include free long distance to other countries. No matter which internet phone service provider you choose, as long as you stick with a highly rated VoIP association that has a reputation for good voice quality of calls, you can't go wrong.

One of the accomplished things about any internet phone service is all the free calling features that comes with it. Free local and long distance is just the start. Another is that some of the features of the normal telephone line are free of charge in the VOIP phone service. But what are you getting for your hard-earned cash? If you pick out the hardware solution you'll be using a converter box called an ATA that will be attached to your high-speed internet connection. And you can expect to spend some time on the phone with customer support in order to get your system up and running correctly The good news is that from then on you'll most likely be able to experience uninterrupted service.

There are some familiar issues that you need to be aware of before making the switch to VoIP internet phone service. Because VOIP is new, your will see smaller and crucial differences between the broadband phone service providers. But internet telephony is the future technology, and even some traditional telephone service providers have conceded this by initiating VoIP packages of their own. Several telephone companies are realizing the potential for VoIP services and so companies like Sprint, Verizon, AOL and others are now offering VoIP plans to consumers. While the new VoIP can save you money, it does have its limitations. For the most part, VoIP telephone service is still only practical for home use and small commercial users, since the stability that is required by enormous commercial ventures isn't there. But it will be. After all, were you aware that most of the primary telephone companies use the Internet to route their long distance calls already and have been for years?

Remember, too that if your ISP suffers an outage in your home or place of business, you not only have no internet service, but you will have no phone service either.

Both types of phone service, VoIP and Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), rely on switching the telephone call through the fastest connection. Like all new technical skills, VoIP continues to improve and the result is better call quality and service levels. For years standard telephone lines have used a circuit switching network to transfer telephone calls, but VoIP technical knowledge uses something called packet switching instead where audio is converted into packets of data that are sent over the internet and reassembled on the other end by the character's computer or telephone. Since there are still some bugs in the system, switching without researching may not be the best idea. As we discussed above, do your homework before making the switch. <bio>Yvonne Volante, the author, is a big fan of technology and VoIP and writes for fxphone.com, which is the premier phone resource on the internet.
So what do you need in the way of VOIP equipment? The answer is not too much. An essential part of VOIP system is a broadband connection, which we call a high speed internet connection. This is required for anyone who is using or wanting to use a VOIP system in their home or office. The connection can be found through a cable modem, or a high speed service such as DSL.

You can either hook a phone up to your personal computer or you can connect a phone through the telephone adaptor. The telephone adapter is about the size of a wallet and is the go between connecting the telephone and the computer. It can turn the analog signal from the telephone into digital data that can be sent over the Internet.

One of the advantages is that digital phone offers many additional features that a traditional phone is not equipped to offer. If you have a broadband internet connection, there is no need to pay the additional cost for another telephone line just to make phone calls.

A second advantage is that you can talk to people around the world for as long as you want if they have an Internet connection. Also you can talk with multiple people at the same time without any additional cost. Lastly, a third advantage to switching to a VOIP provider is it may significantly decrease the cost of your monthly telephone bill.

The overall quality and reliability of your VOIP equipment and telephone communications are completely reliant upon the quality, reliability and speed of the Internet connection that it uses. If your Internet service or electricity goes down for any reason, so does your telephone service. A major shortcoming with this system-you will be unable to communicate with anyone if this happens.

There is a way to avoid this problem by having a battery back up similar to an uninterruptible power supply, or you can set up your VOIP system in advance to automatically send all telephone calls to your cell phone in the event of a power failure. It may be necessary to keep your traditional analog voice line (your old fashion telephone that you currently have) or a cell phone just in case you need to make a telephone call during an emergency.

The VOIP equipment is basically the telephone, telephone adapter, phone jack, DSL or cable modem and your computer. You probably have most of these items in your home already and it will not take too much effort or cost on your part to make the switch to VOIP.

The bottom line is whether or not you want this new technology in your home and whether or not you need it. If you are a real computer person and want to have the latest and greatest technology at your fingertips, the VOIP equipment will get your started. All you have to do is find a service provider and to get the extra equipment needed to connect yourself and to start talking over the internet. <bio>For more VOIP information please visit http://www.voiptransmission.com - a popular VOIP website that provides tips, advice and VOIP resources.
Ever wondered what could be the best way to stay in touch with your family and friends when e-mails and chat is no longer the exciting method and not a possible way when your friends are offline. Welcome to online texting, the surest way to reach your friends anytime (whether they are offline or online), and that to without wasting time in keying in your message on the small keypad of your mobile.

The online texting or sending SMS online is a new and exciting way of being in touch. Fast catching up as a need rather than a leisure activity online texting is the easiest way of getting connected. Sending SMS online is very easy and can be used by a layman effectively. To send online message saves time and compared to your mobile plan is absolutely free of cost.

What you need to do is to visit the service provider and follow some really simple steps. First step is to enter the receiver's cell phone number in the mentioned field. While doing so remember not to use dashes or other characters other than the number and to enter the area code as well. The second step is to enter the subject of the message you want to send. It helps the receiver in identifying the content of the message.

The third step is to enter your message you intend to send to the receiver and here you need to remember that the limit o the message is 140 words. So enter the precise message and continue to the final step. The fourth step is to choose the receivers cellular service provider from the given list. And the final step is to click on the send text message button to send the message. Using these simple steps your message is delivered to the person you want to send it to.

Isn't it a simple way of sending your message across without you or the receiver paying anything for using the service.

Most of the websites ensure that by using this service you can cut on the fee you pay your cellular service provider for sending those important as well as cheeky messages to your friends. Not only it's 100% free but they also ensure that you get the service to every corner of the United States and that is why almost every cellular service provider is listed. With the quality service it is also ensured that your receiver never receives a spam message or advertisement on his number. The websites respect complete privacy of our users and keep the data secured.

So the next time you use online texting services be assured that your message will be delivered in no time and as said absolutely free. You can even prank your friends because of the anonymous text messaging, which means that your friends will never know who sent them the text message! So enjoy sending those texts online using free online SMS service and bring a smile on many faces. <bio>For more information visit our website http://www.textforfree.net </bio>

VoIP technology is a one way of sending a voice signal also known as an analog signal in a medium which is digital, i.e, the internet. In practice, the process works like this when you have a standard analog telephone attached to your high speed internet connection with VoIP service. There will be an analog telephone adapter or ATA between the phone and the computer.

In order to place what would normally be a long distance call to a person who doesn't have VoIP service you key in the number you want. The analog telephone adapter converts the touch tones into a digital format. The digital phone number is sent by the analog telephone adapter to the VoIP routing system at the service provider's location. The VoIP service provider is located on the internet as well.

The VoIP service provider's routing system identifies the recipient's location and sends the call to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PTSN) at that location. The phone rings at the other end and the conversation can begin. Each time you speak, the analog to digital converter in the analog telephone adapter changes the voice tones into packets of digital information that can be transmitted across the internet. When the VoIP service meshes with the Public Switched Telephone Network at the recipient's end, the digital packets which are the voice tones from you get turned back into an analog signal so that you recipient of your call can understand what you are saying.

The reverse process, i.e. the transmission of what the other person says to you is a mirror image of the first process. Their voice is transformed from analog to digital when it gets to the PSTN/internet connection. The digital packets are sent to the analog telephone adapter at your location where they are converted back into an audible or analog signal to be able to perceive the voice as that of your caller.

The technology to do the conversion from analog to digital and back again has been around as long as digital electronics. For example, your PC sound card converts digital CD information to analog signal needed by the speakers on your computer. The difficult part of the VoIP technology is the necessity to smoothly transmit the digital data over the internet and reassemble it in a continuous stream. This is know as the protocol.

When listening to voice transmission, there can be no gaps in the stream of digital packets or the voices will not be understandable. This part of the technology has only recently been available, but is actually equal or better in quality than you get with standard telephone networks.

The equipment available today that uses VoIP technology can be an analog telephone adapter for your head set through the computer. There are a few VoIP phones that act like a regular analog telephone but have the ATA incorporated into the phone. It's actually a small dedicated personal computer in your telephone. These VoIP phones can be plugged into the computer with high speed internet connection or into the router. <bio>Bramatelecom (http://bramatelecom.com) - Canada's internet phone service provider (http://bramatelecom.com/home.php) offers low long distance rates (http://bramatelecom.com/rates.php) </bio>

VOIP is a technology that allows us to place telephone calls without a telephone. Instead, with VOIP, you can call anyone anywhere in the world with simply your broadband internet connection.

Essentially, with VOIP, analog signals like those of the voice are converted into digital signals that are then sent over the internet and converted back.

Not all VOIP services are built alike. Some allow you to call anyone with a phone, while others restrict your calls to only other clients using the same VOIP service. You can choose between three different ways to set up a VOIP system on your computer.

You can use an ATA (analog voice adaptor) which performs the analog-to-digital conversion, and is plugged in to your computer at one end and your telephone at the other.

You can use an IP phone, a phone specifically made for use with VOIP. While the IP phone looks exactly like a normal phone, it's got special Ethernet connectors that allow it to be plugged into your router. They're even working on WIFI phones for VOIP that you can take with you to the various internet hotspots popping up all over the world.

Finally, you can make VOIP contact with your computer alone. Simply install the VOIP software, make sure you've got a microphone, speakers, an internet connection (high-speed is best, of course), and a sound card, and chat away.

One thing many VOIP-users love about it is the cost, or more accurately, the savings. By using VOIP you save yourself one unnecessary bill per month - your phone bill. VOIP charges, much cheaper usually than most people's phone bills, appear on your regular broadband bill.

Just like cell-phones, VOIP service is portable, at least as portable as your laptop. You no longer have to worry about shoddy cell phone coverage when you go away. As long as you can get internet access, you'll be able to use your VOIP.

A few disadvantages of VOIP to consider, however: VOIP may not respond well during power outages and problems with your server. If your internet connection for any reason goes out, so does your ability to place VOIP-facilitated phone calls.

When researching possible VOIP providers, keep in mind that not all of them let you make 9-1-1 or directory assistance calls. If you depend on services like these for simple peace of mind, make sure you find a VOIP provider that can accommodate.

It's a little known fact that many of the major telephone companies use VOIP technology already to be more efficient. So, unbeknownst to you, you may very well have already been making VOIP-enabled phone calls.

VOIP providers now compete to offer subscribers many of the same services we're used to getting from our telephone companies, such as call waiting, repeat dialing, return dialing, and three-way calling. You can also find VOIP providers that offer to filter your calls, giving you a range of options of what to do with calls sent from numbers you select.

Maybe you send the call to your voice mail, maybe the caller hears a message informing them that your phone number is no longer in service. You can even use VOIP to check your voicemail and send voice message as attachments to emails.

VOIP is only just revving up it's engines. It may not be long before every household in your neighborhood is VOIP-enabled. <bio>Robert Michael is a writer for Mico Voip which is an excellent place to find Voip links, resources and articles.
We are all subjected to the tyranny of the urgent =96 those quick questions, phone calls, email, and other interruptions that have to handled. Several days may pass, and then we look back and wonder what happened to that time. We've been pumped up and running on adrenaline, yet we still haven't accomplished the projects on our To Do list - those items that are "important" for developing our business rather than just the "urgent" immediate requests. Interruptions caused by this tyranny of the urgent can be the biggest time-waster in our day.

Studies show that we can be four times more efficient when we work on one type of activity at a time than when we switch back and forth from one thing to another. To take advantage of this method of efficiency, schedule blocks of time each day so that the primary causes of interruptions are grouped together.

What activities are effective when grouped?

- Telephone: Plan for a block of time in your daily schedule when you will make and return phone calls. This doesn't mean that you don't accept an urgent, unexpected call, but work toward keeping the routine calls in your time block. If you have an assistant, train that person to take a message and let the caller know what time you will be returning the call.

- Voice Mail: Many of us don't like voice mail, but it can be a powerful tool, especially if you work alone. Let the voice mail take the messages that don't fall into your telephone time block. The voice mail message can state that you will return calls between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., and then between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., or however your schedule is set up for that day. Your telephone block can vary from day to day. Just be sure your voice mail message reflects the changes. Resist the temptation to check your voice mail after the phone has picked up the message. Again, use a time block for checking your messages just before your telephone calling starts. Otherwise you're still letting the telephone interrupt you.

- Email: It is very easy to allow email to dominate our time, especially if we are working close to our computer. That "You've Got Mail" message, whether verbal or just sound, is hard to ignore. Even stopping to take a quick look to see who it is from becomes an interruption. You've lost time working on the project you were involved in because it takes more minutes to get back into focus and regain your train of thought. Turn off the sound that alerts you to every message coming in. Just as with telephone calls, set blocks of time each day where you will deal with all the email messages together.

- Bill Paying: Whether dealing with personal bills at home, or with office matters, it is not efficient to stop and write checks every day or two. I've even seen people write them as they come in because they are afraid that otherwise the bills will get lost, or they will forget. Those are situations where other assistance is needing in setting up a system to manage papers. Again, group your bill paying and other accounting activities together for once a week or for every other week, depending on volume.

- More: Consider the other tasks that occur frequently throughout your week. Which similar activities can you group?

It will take time to get used to controlling interruptions rather than allowing those constant interruptions throughout your day to control you. However the payback in time gained is well worth the effort it takes to develop a new habit. <bio>Denise Landers shows companies, institutions, and individuals how to increase productivity, achieve goals, and balance work and life through professional time management training: http://www.keyorganization.com/time-management-skills.asp </bio>

VoIP, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, is a service that allows people to make telephone calls over the Internet. In order to use VoIP, a person will need a VoIP service along with some type of input device to record their voice. This can be a microphone or something more sophisticated such as a VoIP-designed telephone. Indeed, VoIP is quite an impressive technology, but how does it compare specifically against the traditional telephone? This article will examine that question by evaluating the three main differences between VoIP and traditional phones. These differences are: cost, voice quality and the ability to make emergency phone calls.

One of the biggest differences between VoIP and traditional telephone service is in the area of cost, as VoIP tends to be cheaper. However, this will largely depend on the type of VoIP service a person decides to use. For example, there are quite a few VoIP services that are free, but the quality is awful. Then there are those like Skype where users can have access to VoIP for a nominal yearly subscription fee. Alternatively, there are VoIP services like Yahoo Phone, which work on a prepaid basis. However, in all of these scenarios, the issue of long distance is the same=85 it is either free or significantly cheaper than what would get with a traditional telephone. This is the case whether the calls are done nationwide or internationally.

The next difference between VoIP and the traditional telephone line is in regards to voice quality. Most land line telephone services will always have excellent quality. This is not the case with VoIP, which has good quality sometimes. In fact even premium VoIP services tend to not do as well as a regular telephone. Of course, there are ways to try to improve VoIP quality. For instance, having a DSL connection significantly helps with VoIP reception. Also, it helps to try to not overload one's Internet connection with a lot of downloads, since this frees up more bandwidth for a VoIP service. Yet, doing these things will only make the voice quality so good with VoIP.

The last difference between VoIP and traditional telephones is when it comes to emergency phone calling. Most VoIP services whether free or paid do not have the capacity to allow for 911 calls. Conversely, the regular phone line does. It is for this reason that even if VoIP works perfectly most of the time, a person will still need a regular phone line.

In conclusion, the three main differences between VoIP and normal telephones are cost, voice quality and whether or not a person can make emergency calls. Both obviously have their advantages and disadvantages, though VoIP is not enough by itself to meet a person's complete telephone needs. Yet, if a person wants to make a lot of long distance calls, especially international ones, the regular telephone bill would just be too expensive. So, all in all, while VoIP cannot currently replace a traditional phone line, it does make for a nice complement to it. <bio>Brama Telecom, Internet Phone Service (http://bramatelecom.com/home.php) - Offers Unlimited Long Distance Calling (http://bramatelecom.com/unlimited_long_distance.php) and Long Distance Phone Service (http://bramatelecom.com/home.php) </bio>

In the earlier days of the Internet communication was limited to typing text on a screen. Then with the advent of Instant Messaging and chat rooms, communication became more real-time, though still only text was the main venue used. Now the Internet has become so advanced that people can actually use their voices to communicate with individuals online. This technology is known as VoIP, (which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol). It can allow people to communicate using voice either through the computer or on a telephone. But the best part of VoIP is that it is significantly cheaper than traditional phone lines. This is due to: the technology involved and the quality it offers.

The first reason why VoIP is cheaper than regular telephones is because of the technology it takes advantage of. Unlike the telephone VoIP simply takes advantage of the service that a person is already taking advantage of, which is the Internet. No new connections need to be made to use VoIP. Yet, with a traditional telephone service, a person must have their house wired with telephone lines. This in itself is expensive for telephone companies, who must help cover their costs through people's phone bill.

The second reason why VoIP is less expensive than regular phones is because unfortunately, the quality is not as good. When a person uses a VoIP phone, the connection can often contain a lot of static, making the conversation hard to hear. Granted, the quality of one's VoIP service will better depending on what company they use. For instance, free VoIP companies tend to have much worse quality than paid ones. Yet, neither can compare to the quality offered by the telephone, which is good 100 percent of the time. The only time there is ever an issue with telephone quality is if something is wrong with the phone lines. When this happens a person simply won't be able to make a phone call until the problem is fixed. However, how often does this happen? Compare this to VoIP services which have worse quality and, (during the times when a lot of people are using the service), an inability to make calls quite often.

So, if the quality is so poor, why are people still raving about VoIP? It's because even though the quality is definitely not as good as regular telephones, it's good enough to allow for decent enough communication most of the time. In fact, sometimes the quality can be just as good as a telephone. So, while the technology won't replace the telephone, it's a good supplement when people want to save on their long distance bills and/or they want to have the advantages possible with a second telephone line without actually having one.

In conclusion, VoIP is a cheaper alternative to land lines because they do not require a separate technology to implement and quality-wise they do not offer as much as telephones. Perhaps as VoIP technology progresses, the quality element can be fixed enough so that people can use VoIP completely by itself. <bio>Brama Telecom Provides broadband phone service (http://bramatelecom.com) and cheap long distance plans (http://bramatelecom.com/unlimited_long_distance.php) in Toronto and Canada </bio>

Quick! Grab The TV Remote; The Phone's Ringing

In the business world they call it data convergence, homeowners call it amazing. The buzz is all about the merging of voice, data and video into one service that streams down your broadband internet connection. Now you can watch TV on your PC, and answer your phone using your remote control.

Here's what data convergence means to consumers

In the "old days", you needed a different service provider for your cable TV, telephone and Internet service. Then telephone companies began providing high-speed Internet access followed by the Cable TV providers who couldn't resist jumping into a hot market.

Today, most people can get all three technologies delivered by one vendor, but that's not always the best choice. It makes both economic and technological sense to get your television and Internet service from the same provider but, so far at least, cable TV companies are falling short when it comes to providing top-notch technology for their Voice Over IP (VoIP) or Internet telephone service offerings.

Essentially, the VoIP services offered by cable providers replaces POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), at a lower cost, but most of the features that they offer mimic those of the teleco.

Dedicated VoIP providers, like industry darling Vonage, also provide low-cost VoIP telephony, but they heap on the features including some that are so compelling you can hardly resist switching.

How About Taking Your Full-Featured Phone With You?

If you're a road warrior, travel a lot on pleasure, or like to operate your home-based business from a different scenic spot every day, you're in luck. Services like those provided by Vonage let you make and receive telephone calls anywhere that you can plug your laptop into a high-speed Internet connection. Best of all, your client's family and friends don't have to worry about hunting you down. They simply dial your normal telephone number and it rings on your laptop! It doesn't get any better than that.

More Features, Lower Costs, Learn More

If you're ready to take advantage of state-of-the-art technology for pennies a day, you're ready to see the consumer side of data convergence.
Have you ever wondered how insurance companies go about marketing their insurance policies? Aside from a company Web site, advertisements in the classifieds, and commercials? Many insurance companies get leads -- prospective clients -- by telephone marketing.

Many insurance companies use what are known as call center phone systems. These systems call prospective clients in various different ways. There are five basic call center phone systems that insurance companies can use when marketing their insurance policies, but they cover two main ways of marketing to prospective clients. Insurance companies can use auto-dialing systems when an actual insurance agent is calling prospective clients but uses the phone system to dial the client's number. Insurance companies also use broadcast marketing methods, when prospective clients are called but are not addressed by an actual insurance agent; rather, they are play a prerecorded message.

While these telephone calls may sometimes feel like telemarketer harassment, they're actually great marketing tools for insurance companies. Using these marketing tools can help insurance companies gather information about people residing in a certain area, i.e., demographic information, which will help them better plan their marketing strategies for that region.

These telephone calls can be beneficial to the prospective client, as well. Prospective clients who receive these telephone calls aren't being harassed; they're being given the opportunity to find out more information about a particular insurance company, more information about how that particular insurance company can help with their insurance needs, and even schedule call backs for the times when they really are interested, but just don't have the time to talk on the telephone.

So, the next time you get a telephone call from an insurance company, don't be so quick to hang up. Remember, they are simply marketing their product -- insurance policies -- just as other businesses market their products. If you aren't interested, let the insurance agent know; or, if you're in the middle of dinner, schedule a call back. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Tips.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ Cheap Car Insurance </bio>

VoIP, or voice over internet protocol, simply put, is a way to make phone calls over the internet with the use of an analog telephone adapter. In making "phone calls" in this manner, the user can often avoid the high charges from the phone company, especially in the case of long distance calls.

How does it Happen?

A VoIP provider converts the audio message (your voice) from analog form into digital form with an ATA (analog telephone adapter) so that the media can be sent over the internet. On the other end, the digital media is then converted back into an analog form as would be heard on a regular phone call.

At first, the process may sound foreign and complex, but it's really no different than making a regular phone call. It begins when you start to dial - the tones are converted to digital, sent over the internet, and then routed from your VoIP service provider to the public switched telephone network to make the connection to the intended recipient.

Once the call is connected, even if the phone on the other end has no digital capabilities, everything will go as is customary with a call placed through a regular phone service provider. Your voice will be converted into digital packets of media that will be transmitted over the internet seamlessly before being converted back into analog form and heard on the other end of the phone call.

You use your regular telephone, plugged into an adapter, just as you would during the process of making a phone call through a regular phone service provider, there are no changes at all in terms of usage other than where your phone is plugged in.

What you need to make the Change

This can depend on the VoIP service provider that you choose to use and how you choose to make your calls. There is software available that will allow you to use your PC as your phone, but in most cases if you choose to use your regular phone, all that you'll need is the analog telephone adapter which your VoIP service provider will supply to allow you to plug your phone into the internet.

Since your entire phone call takes place having been transmitted in digital form through your internet connection, you avoid using the standard phone company's equipment and service entirely, which means that you'll also avoid incurring said phone company's outrageous charges as well - even if you are making long distance phone calls.

Voice over internet protocol may sound like some very complex technology, and there is no doubt that it is, but as soon as the average person learns that using VoIP won't change a single thing about how he or she goes about making a phone call (with the exception of drastically lowering the price) the more it will catch on.

As with adopting, or changing to any new, unfamiliar form of technology there will be some bugs or glitches and some features (or lack thereof) that people won't like or that will take some time to get used to, but technology is changing fast for the better. VoIP service providers are constantly looking for ways of improving service and making the overall experience of switching over to voice over internet protocol a smoother and easier one. It may very well only be a matter of time before VoIP is no longer just a threat to the standard phone service providers of today, but the main source of how average people connect with others.

It probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise that you can already integrate a VOIP Asterisk Phone system into your office.
