True competence is an accurate reputation that is based on your intelligence, your expertise and your knowledge. People create perceived confidence in themselves by using certain tactics, like dressing in the appropriate uniform: a white lab coat or a suit and tie.

Perceived competence is tricky. Hence, you have to be careful in how you explain your competence. If you launch into a laundry list of your accomplishments or of your education and titles, you might be perceived as a braggart. Take advantage of less direct or less self-proclaiming ways to show your prospects your competence. For example, you can hang your degrees on the wall, have someone else give a brief bio in her/his book's introduction or have someone else offer her/his recommendation.

We consider others to be competent when we see them continually learning and advancing their training and education, being successful in what they do or having a strong track record with all the people they have worked with. Ultimately, genuine competency comes down to "either you know it or you don't." Can you deliver what people are looking for? The dictionary definition of competence is "the quality of being adequately or well qualified physically and intellectually." Competence is being qualified to teach about, to persuade on or to perform in regards to your particular topic.

In influential situations, people will watch and judge you to see if you pass as competent. Two studies clearly illustrate this point. In the first study, a group of elementary school children watched a video of two boys taking a math test. The teacher walked between the boys and looked at each of their papers. To one boy she said nothing while to the other boy she said, "Don't forget to carry your tens." The children observing the videotape were told that the boys scored the same on the test. They were then asked whom they wanted as a future math partner. Most of the children chose the boy who did not receive any help from the teacher. Clearly, the simple need for assistance influences how others perceive your competence.

The second study showed that competence can increase sales. An experimenter in a mall approached unsuspecting patrons and asked them to buy raffle tickets. In the first situation, the experimenter dazzled the shoppers with his incredible calculating ability when in actuality he was using a concealed communication device. In the next situation, the experimenter showed poor calculating skills and made a fool of himself. In the third and final situation, the experimenter did not have any incredible skills. The study found that the shoppers bought considerably more raffle tickets from the supposed calculating genius. In other words, the situation in which the experimenter showed extreme competence increased sales. <bio>Everyone persuades for a living.
Whenever you learn a new skill, you go through four stages of learning. Some people berate themselves if they don't immediately master a new skill. They forget that there's a normal progression involved. Keeping these stages in mind will help you avoid frustration as you progress along the path to mastery.

The four stages are:

=95 Unconscious incompetence =95 Conscious incompetence =95 Conscious competence =95 Unconscious competence

The time it takes to progress through these stages may vary, but this progression is unavoidable.

Here's what each stage is about.

Unconscious Incompetence

At this stage, a person is incompetent at a skill but isn't aware that they lack it because they don't know it exists. They're incompetent and unaware of it. This stage lasts as long as the person remains in the dark about other possibilities.

As an example, imagine a child who had only seen shoes with Velcro closures. They are incompetent at <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/tying+shoelaces" rel="tag">tying shoelaces, but aren't aware of it because they're never seen them.

When a person becomes aware of knowledge they lack, they enter the next phase.

Conscious Incompetence

Once the person knows they lack a skill, they are still incompetent at it. The difference is now they know. This creates the possibility of learning.

The child has seen shoes with laces and realizes that they don't know how to tie them. It's at this stage that learning begins.

Someone shows the child how to tie a shoelace and they begin practicing. At first they won't be very good at it. They're still incompetent =96 consciously incompetent.

This phase lasts for a variable amount of time depending on the difficulty of the skill as well the abilities and diligence of the person learning it. More difficult skills take longer to acquire. A person with more talent finds progress easier. More practice results in more progress.

The next stage slowly emerges.

Conscious Competence

Gradually, the student improves and eventually becomes competent at the task. However, at first performing competently requires their full attention. This is the stage of conscious competence.

The child can tie their shoe quite well, but they need to focus to do it. Slowly, gradually the skill becomes easier to perform. It requires less intense focus. It flows more smoothly and automatically.

Eventually, they arrive at the last stage=85

Unconscious Competence

This is the phase of most adults with regards to tying shoelaces =96 they do it quite well without ever having to think about it. In this phase a person performs competently automatically.

There are many skills we pick up and become unconsciously competent at. Anyone who's learned to drive a standard transmission remembers their first lurching starts. Over time, that complex skill became automatic.

Skills you work on now may be the same way. At first they'll seem difficult. They'll require your full attention. You won't be very good at them. You'll feel awkward.

Remember that this phase is normal. Gradually and steadily you'll improve. Before long what was a foreign skill will be second nature. Just like tying a shoe. <bio>Joseph McCaffrey believes in living life as a work of art in progress, and writes on all aspects of living life fully at: http://www.masteringlifespuzzle.com/ </bio>

Let's cut to the chase=85

The biggest and most critical danger of technical analysis is that, after a while, it starts to show you exactly what YOU WANT to see!

In quantitative studies, there is a phenomenon where your research starts showing you what you want to see instead of what is really happening and that is known as "Data Mining". Data Mining occurs most frequently when there is a huge benefit to you if the results are showing one way instead of another. This is the exact same phenomenon in technical analysis.

In technical analysis, charts start showing you what you want to see especially when you have made a mistake and needs the stock to go one way instead of another! Suddenly, the deeper you dig into the myriad of technical indicators, the more "evidence" you seem to find supporting your mistake, giving you the eerie confidence that your mistake is going to turn out just fine.

We all remember how that turned out, don't we?

Technical analysis is essentially a study of the various ways to interpret historical price and volume action in order to form an opinion of future direction. Because technical analysis methods have become so complex over the years with literally THOUSANDS of technical indicators that have been developed, the average amateur investor can always find ways to make a chart look the way they want it to and point towards a non-existent future direction!

Before anyone here thinks that I am against technical analysis, I am not. In fact, my main trading system, the Star Trading System is a technical analysis based option trading system that has made me money over and over again, year after year. So, what really is the problem? The problem is the misuse of technical analysis and the misuse of incompatible technical indicators! Until you really understand the formula and logic behind every technical indicator, the purpose for which each indicator has been developed for and what other confirming indicators works with each other, you will never be able to use technical analysis to form an educated opinion! You will continue to see only whatever you want to see. Some call it "Analysis Paralysis", I call it pure ignorance.

Sadly, it takes years of research and heaps of lost money to get technical analysis right and it will only become harder and harder to get right with ever more complex and new indicators being developed everyday. A lack of knowledge and lack of time to attain that knowledge has always been the bane of all amateur traders. That is why following a developed and proven trading system with a proven, proprietary mix of indicators is the best thing an amateur trader can do.

So, the next time you look at a technical analysis chart, remember, are you merely looking to prove what you already have in mind? Because if you are, then you are very likely to find all the evidences you need to support your own views. <bio>Jason Ng is the Founder and Chief Option Strategist of Masters 'O' Equity Asset Management ( http://MastersoEquity.com ) and author of http://OptionTradingPedia.com .
For the protection of consumers and UK residents, the United Kingdom has instigated a system of certified energy assessor professionals to measure the efficiency of the energy use in each of its residences. The focus and the mission behind the legislation is to encourage both residential and commercial installation and use of green energy and renewable energy resources.

Each certificate for each energy assessor has to be produced by those with the federal government has determined qualified and competent to do so. The UK government is still evaluating additional measures to verify the competence of each energy assessor.

At this point in time, the legislation in the UK for evaluating an energy assessor says that she or he must be suitably competent or qualified to produce an energy assessment. By suitably qualified the legislature means someone who has experience and or learning and training equal to the requirements of the National Occupational Standard regulations for that occupation.

An energy assessor of the UK government is going to have the responsibility of completing primary tasks that relate to the newest of the United Kingdom measures for energy efficiency. While energy assessment is now offered by various organizations, only a portion of these energy assessors are actually trained and have earned an Energy Performance Display Certificate. This certificate is what gives them the authority to call themselves an accredited energy assessor. Each energy assessor must know and follow the newest version of the UK governments National Calculation Methodology. There are several different methodologies, dependent on whether a structure is residential and or about to be sold or rented, under construction, or of mixed use.

An energy assessor needs to meet two criteria in order to practice. The first is the energy assessor qualification, a document of energy inspection that shows technical competence. In the process of being updated by the National Occupational Standard, the qualification will be approved by the national Qualifications and Curriculum Agency.

An energy assessor also needs accreditation. Accreditation may be possible in several specializations such as construction, commercial and residential. The scope of qualification will cover many energy inspection areas. An energy assessor will be evaluated in his or her assessment of energy performance, perhaps in buildings under construction, in rental properties or in single family homes, for example. Each energy assessor is only allowed to conduct energy inspections in the area or areas covered by her or his current accreditation and qualification.

Additional limitations may be placed on an energy assessor beyond the types of dwellings or circumstances. An energy assessor might, for example, be determined certified for a specified number of years, after which he or she might have to retrain, upgrade his or her skills and or retest for a new certification.

Several companies in the United Kingdom have the approval of the Secretary of State to oversee the accreditation for energy assessors who wish to evaluate the energy efficiency of existing structures. These companies are RICS, Northgate, NES, Elmhurst and BRE. Many labour unions offer classes and certification and recertification training for energy assessors as well. <bio>James Copper is a writer for http://www.propertycareerskills.co.uk </bio>

HOW TO predict the Future ?

by studying the Past (Technical Analysis):

1) The best traders don't discount one or the other but understand that having an understanding how the fundamentals influence market sentiment gives him/her an edge over those traders who don't.

2) In my opinion, TECHNICAL analysis is the easiest and most accurate way of trading the FOREX market.

3) "The number's don't lie" - all available information and its impact on the market, are already reflected in a currency's price.

4) Prices move in trends - the foreign exchange market is mostly composed of trends and therefore a place where technical analysis can be very effective.

5) History repeats itself - over time, certain chart patterns become consistent, predictable and very reliable. The question is SEEING them.

PRICES MOVE IN TRENDS

The traders who don't believe this obviously have no need to implement a trading methodology on technical analysis. But, research has shown that those who trade "with the trend", greatly improve their changes of making a profitable trade.

Finding the prevailing trend will help you become aware of the overall market direction and offer you better visibility, especially when shorter-term movements tend to clutter the picture.

HOW does technical analysis help to determine what the trend is and HOW to trade with then trend versus against it?

Even though, you learn you how to use and read various technical indicators to identify a long- term trend, spot predictable chart patters and use certain rules to enter and exit a high-probability trade, and even though a ll this involves sound logic, parameters, methods, formulas, data, and research, these technical indicators, by themselves, are not the Holy Grail of FOREX trading.

It takes discipline and emotional control to stick with trading following through the inevitable market ups and downs. Keep in mind, good technical traders expect ups and downs.

Which technical indicators are the BEST?

NONE - technical indicators should simply be components of your overall customized, personalized trading system, and not a stand alone system. The objectives as a FOREX Technical Trader are:

1) To figure out the price action of the currency pair. Price is the main concern. If the EUR/USD is at 1.2224 and goes to 1.2020, 1.1980, 1.1940- the market is in a down trend.

Despite what every technical indicator might predict, if the trend is down, stay with the trend. Indicators showing where price will go next or what it should be doing are useless.

A trader should only be concerned with what the market is doing, not what the market might do. The price tells you what the market is doing.

2) Always remember that technical indicators are only giving you confirmations based on what the market is telling you. So listen to the market and let it tell you which method, strategy or techniques you should use. <bio>Veteran Trader Martin Maier is the Founder of http://www.fenixcapitalmanagement.com .He is the developer of various futures and commodities trading programs and has received many Trading Awards. </bio>

Financial Technical Analysis Using Volume

I wonder if you have realized this...

All the data you get daily from the stock exchange in financial technical analysis charts are nothing more than:

1.	Price 2.	Volume

That's right. Only the price and the number of transactions are known daily and captured as charts for financial technical analysis. Even though volume is such an important element, very few technical traders make full use of it in helping them with their trade entries and exit. This is because most technical traders simply do not know how to make sense of the daily volume bars in relation to the price action. I present here a simple chart explaining what the price versus volume behavior stand for and hope it helps you in making more sense in your financial technical analysis.

Financial Technical Analysis Using Volume Defined

Rising Price + Rising Volume = Healthy Bull trend

Rising Price + Declinging volume = Bull trend drying up, hitting ceiling soon

Declining Price + Rising Volume = Healthy Bear Trend

Declining Price + Declining Volume = Bear tredn drying up, bottoming soon.

Declining Price + Sudden Volume surge = Selling Climax, short term support level reached

Price at Peak + Sudden volume surge = Buying Climax, resistance level reached

Financial Technical Analysis of Head and Shoulder Formation Using Volume

The volume pattern for a head and shoulders top formation is very distinctive. On the left shoulder volume reaches a peak. As prices move up to the head, volume increases, but this second volume peak should be lower than that of the left shoulder. This higher peak in price, yet lower peak in volume, is an important signal to the trader that buying interest is far less ardent. Finally, as prices rally and form the right shoulder, volume further diminishes.

Financial Technical Analysis Using Volume, Conclusion

I hope this simple explanation of what each movement of price versus volume means in financial technical analysis can help you, as a technical trader, attain a higher level of accuracy when reading your charts and therefore a higher level of trading consistency.

Read More About How To Use Technical Analysis Systematically at http://www.mastersoequity.com/MOE_startradingsystem.htm <bio>Jason Ng is the Founder and Chief Option Strategist of Masters 'O' Equity Asset Management ( http://www.MastersoEquity.com ). For every skill that development need has been identified the development plan is created with main elements: Competence to be developed, Skill to be Developed, Activities to be conducted, and Example of activities.

Competency model can be different, so it is up to each company to decide which model to adopt. But the common thing for all models is that they should have Core Competency Model ( Leadership, Judgment, Teamwork, ... ) as well as Functional ( e.g. for Sales those are Negotiation Skills, Communication Skills, Planning Skills, ... ).

After setting objectives it is recommended to have periodical reviews, e.g. quarterly, in order the follow up the process, to be able to correct development in case that is not satisfactory. At the end of year, all scores and activities are assembled in the official form, and mutually reviewed both, by subordinate and his supervisor. First, employee review himself, grading his own success, the way he see it. After that, his superior is putting grades on results and activities, and giving feedback to his subordinate. Basically the outcome of the whole process is a good basis for next year Appraisal process. This is logical, because objectives of companies do not change that drastically. On the other hand, the competence development is not something that requires a few days or months or even a few trainings. It is rather tough task for somebody to develop his weak spots, and it usually takes several years for ambition person to obtain a visible progress in his areas identified as gaps, or to put it in more polite way - "areas for improvement".

Appraisal should be created on annual level, both Objectives and Competence Development. Generally Appraisal process should be incentivized through annual bonus system. ( More under Rewarding Article, within HR section. )

Appraisal process should be cascaded down top-down, until certain level, normally first supervision level. To go below it is management decision, and can have sense in some organizations, but not in all. To go to the bottom would not create real effect, but bureaucratic confusion.

The most important thing in this process is commitment of all leaders of the process, and that goes top down. If is not conducted in a valid way, it turns to be happy sheet filled formally to satisfy the procedure or to justify a giveaway bonus at the end of period.

Appraisal process is a powerful managerial tool and it should be treated as such.<bio>Laurus Nobilis has 11 years of experience in FMCG business.
Many webmasters face an important decision -- whether to find a new web host or stay with the current one. In my view, there are several good reasons to change web hosting company: price, technical support and software issues.

I)Price

How do you know if you overpay for web hosting? You can compare your web hosting package to web hosting deals from Web Host Checklist at www.webhostchecklist.com/tophosts.html . These are some of the best web hosting packages available. If your web host is similar in terms of price and features, then you are fine. Otherwise, you are paying too much.

II)Technical support

Sometimes all of us experience web site problems: pages that are slow to open, can't log in into ftp site, certain software package doesn't work... Once a problem occurs, we need competent technical support that can resolve the issue as fast as possible. In my opinion, a good technical support should fix a problem within 48 hours.

III)Software issues

Software related problems are some of the most frustrating. For example, you want to create web pages using certain programming language, but your web hosting service doesn't support software. May be your web site pages aren't displayed correctly because of problems with your web host. You have only two choices when faced with software problems. You can either use programs supported by your web host or change web hosting company.

There is no exact formula on whether to switch web hosting company. Each situation is unique. For example, your web hosting cost is higher than average but customer service and software support are excellent. Or let's say that technical support is quiet slow but problems are very rare.

What would you do in above situations? Should you stay or go?

I believe your decision depends on a total picture. If you are satisfied with an overall combination of the price, technical and software support, you should stay. Otherwise, it is time to find a new web hosting company. <bio>By Archie Lubman http://www.webhostchecklist.com </bio>

If you are considering currency trading in the Forex market, or you are already involved in Forex currency trading, here's a money-making lesson that we can borrow from investors who use technical analysis to help them make investment decisions in the stock market.

The goal of performing technical analysis when currency trading is to predict profitable currency pair movements by analyzing price trends. The principles of technical analysis in the equity markets are the same as those in the Forex currency trading markets. In fact, the only real difference between the two is that the Forex market is open 24 hours a day while the equity markets are not.

This means that certain analytics that take time periods in consideration will need to be adjusted for Forex currency trading. Other than that, any of these common forms of equity technical analysis methodologies can be used when currency trading:

Elliott Waves -- Developed by Ralph Nelson Elliott, this methodology is based upon the theory that market performance can be predicted by studying wave patterns that develop over a period of time.

Fibonacci Studies -- Developed by 12th century mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci, this methodology is based upon the theory that changes in trends can be predicted based upon prices interacting with lines based upon certain sequences of numbers. Parabolic SAR -- Developed by J. Wells Wilder, this methodology is based upon the examination of prices in comparison to andquot;stop and reversalandquot; (SAR) numbers that indicate entry and exit points for a trade.

Pivot Points -- A mathematical formula used to determine when to exit a trade based upon the numerical average of the high, low and closing prices.

As I mentioned earlier in this article, the key difference between technical analysis in the equities market, and technical analysis in the Forex currency trading market, is the fact that it is possible to participate in Forex trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That key difference is also the primary reason that technical analysis works so well in currency trading.

In order for technical analysis techniques to deliver maximum results, there needs to be extended periods of time available for patterns to develop and repeat. Because the Forex market never closes, and currency pairs are traded around the clock, definable patterns develop more quickly and the technical analyst has a plethora of Forex currency trading data available to work with.

Because more data means more accurate forecasting results, technical analysts can see better results, in quicker time, when combining technical analysis and Forex currency trading. <bio>Dusty Blackwell is a retail Forex trader.
Technical writers are earning big bucks while enjoying the luxury of working at home. If you're put off by the word 'technical', don't slam the door to a lucrative opportunity. As long as you can string your grammar correctly, you can start a new writing adventure.

What is Technical Writing?

When you buy technical gizmo, you always have to read the manual that explains how to operate or set-up a system. It is specifically written for end-users so they can understand how the details work together. If you can't make heads or tails of the instructional manual, then you're reading poorly written or highly technical stuff. Technical writers come to the rescue, inspired by a bottomless pit of vocabulary suited to the material.

The word 'technical' does not always refer to technology; rather, it refers to a skill. This type of writing is putting together information in a logical and coherent discussion. The aim is to inform, not amuse. Instead, you have to observe processes and operations to be able to provide accurate information. You have to show how it is done.

Engineering, surveying, medical, architectural, and software firms require technical writing experts to help them explain away their products. What used to be the domain of technical geeks is now the realm of writers who can fuse creativity and technology into one dynamic package. And the pay is way beyond the ordinary paycheck you get every payday.

How to create a niche in this elite circle? Well, for starters, you have to love gizmos. If you're not a techno fan, you still have hope by learning the basics. If you want to write about software or computers, you can sign up at the nearest computer school and learn the basics about software and computers. Technical writing has its own vocabulary and there is no excuse for sloppy writing if you want to earn a fat paycheck.

Tools of the Trade

Before hopping into an assignment, make sure you have the tools of the trade. Get a copy of 'Strunk and White Elements of Style' to help make your writing crisp, clear, and tight. The usual jargon cannot be used. Instead, get to know the technical jargon involved in different requirements. Brush up on your active voice to make the manual easier to understand.

You may be working with a graphic artist, or if you know how to do it, the better for you. You can rely on software to help you with your technical writing when working for a small company.

If you want to get into technical writing, you have to be a keen observer to explain logical problems. It takes awhile before you can finish your paper because you will have to be repeating the processes to have more angles in explaining things to the reader.

Technical writing courses are available online. With a certification to back your qualification, companies will be willing to hire you. You can always request to do your work online, miles away from the company, if they can send over the gadget you will write about. But for sensitive projects, you have to go to the site.

Technical writing is the new wave of writing. More writers are seeing the glimmer at the end of the tunnel and hopes are high that writing skills can pay far better than the 8 hours you put in as an employee. Interested? <bio>Embark on your technical writing career with a Cross pen (http://www.executivegiftshoppe.com/cross-pens.html).
Forex traders often look at technical indicators such as Bollinger Bands, Pivot Points, MACD, Moving Averages and the such to help them determine where to enter or exit trades. Using technical indicators is fine, however many traders overemphasize their importance or just plain misunderstand them.

Many forex traders think that they can simply download an indicator and then mechanically apply it into their trading and do so profitably. This is just a plain illusion. Successful traders realize that there is a lot more to using indicators than just asking them to generate buy/sell signals or pin-point exact entry points. Technical indicators for them represent just one part of their trading strategy.

Let's take a look at some of the reasons why you should not put all your faith into those sometimes confusing little indicators.

Take Moving Averages (MA's) for example. They are "supposed" to show the direction of the trend. The most common and often used are the simple 200day MA, 100day MA, 50day MA, 35day MA and the 21day MA but they are only valid on daily graphs. Some forex day traders say that a good signal is when the 50day MA is crossed by the 13day MA and that when this occurs you should trade in the direction of the cross.

The problem with this (apart from the fact that it only works on daily graphs) is that these types of "crosses" do not occur often enough for traders to exploit them. This can often lead to a situation where traders are seeing what they thought was a cross now reverse and uncross. Even worse, it can lead to a situation where day traders are "chasing" and trying to anticipate a cross. If you are doing this, you are distancing yourself from the market which you are trying to trade. Not only are you trying to guess what the price is going to do next but you are guessing what the indicator, based on the prices, is going to do next.

Other problems with technical indicators involve issues with the quotes and prices given to you by your broker. Forex brokers are market makers and as such different brokers will give you different quotes and prices at a specific point in time. Naturally, a different price could lead to a situation where different traders, trading the same market have the same indicators giving them different responses. That's how arbitrary technical indicators can be.

Finally, a lot of these technical indicators were developed by people trading the stock market. With the growth of computers and software packages that incorporate these indicators, technical analysis has become very popular and spread to other markets such as the forex market. What currency traders should be aware of however, is that as these indicators were developed in a time where real time information did not exist. As such, the limitations of technical analysis becomes even more exaggerated in forex trading =96 not only is technical analysis an interpretation of historical events but it becomes even more so in the forex market, a market moved by real time events.

Conclusion

Successful forex traders understand the limitations of technical indicators and realize that technical analysis should incorporate just one part of their trading strategy. In a recent international Forex market event visited by the major banks and institutions - the main players that influence the foreign currency market =96 a survey was done to better understand what analysis they use. The results might be surprising to some tarders. The survey showed that a mere 26% use technical analysis and indicators compared to 41% who said they use fundamental analysis. <bio>Jovan Vucetic - Margin Strategies http://www.margin-strategies.info/ </bio>

Technical writing, sometimes called business writing, is writing for a specific purpose and with a specific goal. Usually its goal is to inform/instruct or persuade/argue. Technical writing can really be considered transactional writing because there are two people or groups involved in the communication. One party has a clear goal to inform or persuade the other party. This is real-world writing in every sense. You may not be aware of how much it already impacts your world through textbooks, instructions, web sites, and communications from many businesses and service organizations. There are professional technical communicators but only large organizations have them and even then they are not there to do your daily work for you and that is why it is so helpful for many to take at least an introductory technical writing class.

Why is technical communication important and what will you use it for? Actually, technical writing will be used by most college graduates as a regular part of their work. It is much more likely that you will use technical writing than either academic or creative writing unless you specifically enter those fields. A few examples of why you will likely need these skills include: getting a job -- preparing a resume or curriculum vitae, cover letter, application, and portfolio; doing your job -- preparing memos, letters, reports, instructions, case reports, reviews, assignments, descriptions, etc.; and keeping your job -- communicating with management, co-workers, peers, patients/students/public.

What separates technical communication from other forms of writing, such as academic writing? Technical communication has a specific audience and is purposeful, usually intended to solve a problem for that audience. One area that really sets technical communication apart is that it is quite often collaborative. Technical communication is also focused on readability issues, not only the use of clear writing, but also page design and graphics. The excellence of technical writing is judged by clarity, accuracy, comprehensiveness, accessibility, conciseness, professional appearance, and correctness.

There are seven principles to guide technical writing: remember your purpose (to inform or persuade), remember your audience (their concerns, background, attitude toward your purpose), make your content specific to its purpose and audience, write clearly and precisely (active voice, appropriate language to audience), make good use of visuals (good page design and graphics), and be ethical (truthful, full disclosure, no plagiarizing).

Technical communication serves both explicit, or clear, and implicit, or implied, purposes. Explicit purposes include to provide information, to provide instructions, to persuade the reader to act upon the information, or to enact or prohibit something. Implicit purposes include establishing a relationship, creating trust, establishing credibility, and documenting actions. Most technical communications are based on a problem statement which gives your document a clearly stated objective for your benefit as well as your reader's. The problem statement defines the problem, by doing more than simply stating your topic, it goes on to explain what about that topic is at issue. For example, if your topic is career guidance then your problem could be the fact that many adults need help identifying a career that suits their strengths and abilities and the solution that your document will present is to create a comprehensive clearing house that helps people identify career paths through military, vocational training, and higher education.<bio>You can learn writing style and find more writing advice at http://answersaboutwriting.com</bio>

Insurance business has developed and prospered by leaps and bounds in the last few decades. This has not only made their transactions big but have also made them a little more complicated with new insurance policies being launched every day. There are specific business requirement for insurance companies. So, software engineers have produced a number of software for insurance companies.

Any good accounting software in this category packs some startling features that are almost always needed by the companies. These features are easy to use and work much like the manual of a healthcare practitioner's manual accounting system.

The accounting programs include open item accounting, which is helpful in matching payments made to individual charges. This way one is always aware about what has been paid to whom and what still remains to be paid and to whom.

With these software one thing that always needs to be kept in mind is the customer service and support because most of the experts in this area are of the opinion that if the technical support is not at hand to deal with the question that arise when it is put to process large amounts of data, it is likely to create quite a bit of confusion. So, when you are going for an accounting software for insurance business, lay emphasis on the post-sale technical support available.

Ready technical support should be available online or on phone so that not much time is lost troubleshooting. You might have to shell out a little more for guarantee and technical support. Do not flinch from doing that because it will prove well worth it in due course of time. Getting software with lousy technical support would harm your business instead of smoothening the operations. So, be cautious.

Always keep in mind that insurance business is a data intensive business, which means that you need a software that is very accurate and does not lose on speed when processing heavy data. There are various software that can achieve both speed and accuracy. So, if you could not find one soon enough, look around some more. You need not settle for anything less than what you want. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
Have you become frustrated at one time or another when trying to achieve a new goal? It can sometimes seem as if you are struggling to reach your destination. And the last thing you want to do is become discouraged or self-deprecating. Yet, this does tend to happen to the best of us.

While a proficient achiever knows how to set and pursue a goal, there are other factors that enter into the process toward developing excellence. Knowing about this process can help alleviate getting stuck and also bring greater clarity and value toward achieving a goal.

When learning something new, most of us go through a 4-stage process. Think in terms of a baby who does not get around on its own, but then learns to crawl, eventually walks and finally knows how to run. If you see the big picture, then you are more likely to work through the rough spots.

Setting and working toward a goal is very similar to the four stages of learning. So let us take a look at these stages and consider how this process applies to the journey of goal achievement.

The learning or achievement process can become difficult when bad feelings surface because one makes a mistake or hits a roadblock. These feelings are reflected in self-judgments such as, 'I am not doing this right,' 'I am not good enough,' 'I can never learn this,' and so on.

Ironically, not getting it right early on and making mistakes are vital steps in the learning process. Yet too often our attention goes to trying to avoid the bad feelings, rather than to the learning or task at hand. Understanding and working through the four stages of learning a skill or achieving a goal can help keep the process focused, and not about feeling frustrated or discouraged.

Here are the four stages of the learning process:

1. Unconscious Incompetence: 'I do not know that I do not know how to do this.' This is the stage of blissful ignorance before learning begins.

2. Conscious Incompetence: 'I know that I do not know how to do this, yet.' This is the most difficult stage, where learning begins and where the most self-judgments are formed.

3. Conscious Competence: 'I know that I know how to do this.' This stage of learning is easier than the second stage, but it is still uncomfortable and self-conscious.

4. Unconscious Competence: 'What, you say I did something well?' The final stage of learning a skill is when it has become a natural part of us; we do not have to think about it.

Do you see how these four stages apply when setting and pursuing a goal? Remember, while you may know all the steps for properly setting a goal and going after it, there are still other factors that you must process along the way. Keeping the four stages of learning in mind can definitely help in making the goal achievement journey more effective.<bio>PROFIT NOW from the highly acclaimed FREE AUDIO CD on Breakthrough Success at http://DiscoverMillionDollarDesire.com Also go to http://DiscoverMillionDollarDesire.com/blog for more articles to advance personal and career success.</bio>

What do you when your PC is out of its warranty period? Where do you resort when you have no technicians around to help you fix your computer?

There are a lot of solutions to that but the most popular is the Remote Tech Support Services. These are people who fix your computer problems off-site. It means that instead of them repairing your computer, it is actually you. All you need to do is call their technical support contact number and relay all the issues concerning your computer to them. Some remote tech support services are through email and chat as well.

Some people would ask if this kind of procedure is useful and not serve as a hassle to the computer user. In my opinion it is not. I myself have worked in the past as a technical support representative and later on promoted as a helpdesk support. There are times that people would call at midnight or the wee hours in the morning where one could not avail the services of a technician personally. You might be in the middle of something important when your internet connection got cut. It is not enough to use the Windows Help to assist you in troubleshooting your computer on your own.

On the technical support's side, they have tools such as a simulator to be able to see exactly what is happening when you do the instructions given to you. They also have softwares that can access your computer remotely and be able to see what you are doing on your own screens. This is very useful since as you are doing your own troubleshooting with the guide of the technician, you will be as well learning how to repair your PC on your own in case the same problem happens again.

On the other hand, in case the problem is out of the technical support's scope of work, you will still be opted to consult the manufacturer side to be able to know and dig deeper into the PC's problem. This is normal for internet connectivity issues. At first, you call your internet service provider and later on, you will find out that the root of the problem is with the PC itself. Some people find this frustrating since it is very difficult to reach a support representative right away. But it is not the case at all times, there are tech support companies like VTechCare who provide high touch customer experience where you can speak to a live person in less than 60 seconds every time you call them.

In any case, whenever you feel like you are in need of a remote support to help you, keep in mind that it is very important that you take notes of every little step that you do. Again, this will help in providing you with a crash course in fixing your computer. As the saying goes, two birds in one shot. You get to fix your computer and you acquire self-education.<bio>VTechCare offers its customers technical support services that spans across software, hardware and technical requirements.
You've heard it all before: The Internet is booming, and with it the IT industry. However, all the hype doesn't necessarily tell you what you want to know: what kind of a future you will have with an information technology degree. Here are five jobs you can get with an IT degree.

Technical Support: Technical support personnel provide assistance with confusing or complicated technical systems. The customer might need help with their personal computer, or their business's computer network. Technical support's job is to diagnose the problem, usually over the phone or the Internet via an instant messenger program, and explain to the customer how to troubleshoot the problem step-by-step.

Because technical support personnel work remotely to diagnose and fix computer and software glitches, often with frustrated or irritable customers, they need to be highly qualified for the job. An information technology degree ensures that you know computer systems well enough to correctly diagnose the problem, saving time and further frustration on the customer's part.

Keep in mind that technical support personnel also need to be good with people. You will need patience for dealing with impatient, frustrated customers, as well as the ability to translate your technical knowledge into terms the average customer will understand.

Computer Programmer: Computer programmers need more computer skills and less people skills than technical support personnel, since most of their work is done with the computer alone. A computer programmer needs an information technology degree because he or she needs to be well versed in all aspects of modern computer technology, in particular the various programming languages that are currently used.

Technical Consultant: Because companies hire technical consultants on a contract basis, this job grants you the freedom of working for yourself. As an added bonus, consultants also generally command a high hourly rate.

As a technical consultant, companies will hire you to perform specific jobs, such as setting up or performing work on the company's computer network. In this capacity, an information technology degree will be invaluable, as it gives you credibility and makes companies feel confident about contracting your services.

Database Administrator: Many companies, especially large companies, require huge databases in order to manage and store all of their data. These companies usually have one or more database administrators on staff, or work with administrators on a contract basis. As a database administrator, an IT degree ensures that you are up-to-date on modern technology such as Oracle, SQL, and other similar platforms.

Information Technology Instructor: As long as there are plenty of IT jobs to go around, there will also be a demand for instructors. Getting your information technology degree also allows you to turn around and use it to teach other students who are interested in breaking into the industry.

An information technology degree opens up many doors. The IT industry is booming and the number of jobs is always increasing. The five jobs listed above are only the tip of the iceberg. Our society's dependence on computers and the Internet means job security for anyone with an IT degree, not to mention high salary potential. Be sure to look into the possibilities. Getting your information technology degree just might be the best thing for your career that you've ever done. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College.
Obviously a copywriter has something to do with writing. Copywriters can work for themselves as individuals or they can have a variety of clients. A copywriter can work with such places as corporations, advertising agencies, magazines, and so much more.

Most of the time a copywriter will work as parting of an advertising group. Usually, the copywriter has the original responsibility for the advertisement as far as what its going to say, how it will read, and the contents that go into the advertisement itself.

It's always a good idea for the copywriter to come up with the best ideas and the most effective word content even if the copywriter has to do research on the advertisement.

Believe it or not because the copywriters that are working in advertising and different agencies, copywriters because of the similarities in words think that copywriters have something to do with copyrighting and the laws dealing with copyright.

These are two different careers and are not even in the least related. The only similarity of a copywriter would come with that of a technical writer and their careers may overlap to a certain extent. However technical writing and the technical writer's job is to inform readers rather than to persuade them.

For instance, a copywriter will write an ad so sell a house, and all its benefits, accessories and potential. While, a technical writer would do writing about the building of the house, the blueprints, the materials and those areas. So, initially there are differences in the copywriter as to the technical writer.

When a copywriter is asked to do a job, they concentrate on "selling" the product through the importance of words. The way they are arranged and the best things concerning the product. Such as why you would benefit from the product.

Internet copywriters are often called on as a team for a website, to of course do the advertising on the web site. While the others in the teams do their assigned parts making it into a great and productive web site. One that will generate traffic, show the people the benefits of the web site products and other aspects of the web site.

Internet copywriters can be expensive, however they take on the ultimate responsibility of literally turning a web site or an advertisement for a web site into a glamorous, why you need to visit web site, or buy the product on the advertisement, by the use of only the words they are writing. Sometimes this can be very difficult for various items or products and sometimes they also have to do research on certain products in order to do the very best job at which they have been assigned.

If products on a web site don't sell, it is not going to be anyone's doings but the one who has written up the description of the product or the information on the web site, which of course is in fact the copywriter.

This is why some copywriters get paid as well as they do, their jobs are important; however most copywriters are very good at what they do. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
