An easy way of filing your income tax return this year is electronic filing. Filing online is an easy and hassle-free way of filing IRS tax forms. Even if you have no prior experience with filing your income tax return you can do it with tax cut software. Tax software will help you to complete the income tax process in a quick and affordable method.

For many people the tax season is a very stressful period. Understanding the IRS tax forms can be a very difficult and frustrating thing to do with all the complex codes and deductions on the IRS tax forms. However, you can still file you taxes with an easy process by going with online taxes. Electronic filing is a way to file your taxes yourself with very little stress and there are quite a few advantages to filing online.

The first thing you must decide is whether you are going to go with an accountant or file online taxes. If you plan on filing online yourself then you should decide if you are going to use an e-file program or tax software. E-filing programs is quickly becoming one of the more common ways for individuals to file their taxes. Even many tax professionals are starting to use electronic filing since it is a quicker method for them. By choosing to file online you will also receive your refund quicker. If you are using tax software you will even have the choice of saving your information from previous tax seasons so you can easily gain access to it for future tax seasons.

However, when filing online there are some things you should always remember. The most important of these is to always read your W-2 form. Before you start electronic filing you should read the back of the W-2 form and make sure you know what each of the boxes means and what they are for. Even when doing online taxes you should always print a copy of the taxes for your personal records. You should also print out the confirmation that the tax software gives you showing that your tax forms have been received by the IRS.

If you are unsure about doing your own taxes because you don't know about the income tax laws then you don't have anything to worry about with online taxes. Many of the tax software programs will provide you with additional advice if you need it. Even if you have done taxes before or believe you know how the income tax system works, it is still a good idea to read over all the information that the software gives you to be safe. The information may contain valuable tips including additional deductions that you may not have thought of before. This is just one of the many benefits you can get by filing your taxes online. <bio>Mark Jackson is a freelance editor for Tax Software Direct.
You're probably asking yourself why in the world would anybody in their right minds want to pay more in taxes? The answer is actually really simple. You get to pay more in taxes if your making more money!

It's true that having your own network marketing business or any home based business for that matter will allow you to itemize your tax return. That will give you the opportunity to take full advantage of all the tax incentives available to the small business/home based business owner. The reason you're trying to pay more in taxes though isn't for all the tax breaks and perks you get for having your own network marketing business. The reason you're trying to pay more in taxes is because it means you're making more money!

Here are just three reasons why your network marketing business will cause you to pay more in taxes and why that's a good thing. 1.) Your network marketing business allows you to start out part time and increase your income at your own pace. Unlike a normal part time job though you determine when you get your next promotion and your next raise. Your future is not determined by the needs of your boss. You are the boss.

2.) Your network marketing business allows you to increase your earnings by not just depending on your own efforts. You can still increase your income by selling more of your products or services yourself, but the beauty of network marketing is the fact that you can build a huge network of people to duplicate your efforts. It's not just you anymore. You can literally have thousands of people working with you to realize your dream. The great thing is you're helping them build their dreams at the same time their helping you build yours. Your income and the taxes paid are only determined by the size of your dreams.

3.) The third way that your multilevel marketing business allows your income to grow is passive income also known as residual income. This is money that will grow over the life of your business. It's money that you work for one time but keep getting paid for over and over and over again. Like clockwork. Over time as your organization grows your income grows with it, as well as your taxes. You are making more money even though you're not doing the work, you can't beat that!

Taxes aren't fun... ever. They are the result of earning money though, and hopefully you see how starting and growing your own network marketing business will drastically increase your income and thankfully you'll be paying more in taxes in no time! <bio>Bill Hunley is a leader in the fastest growing team of successful home business entrepreneurs on the net.
No one likes them, and yet everyone (who wants to stay out of prison) pays them. They help CPAs make a living, and they force everyone else to work harder. Taxes affect everyone. Without them we would have roads like those in most third world countries. Thus we can all recognize the value of tax dollars, and yet we complain when we must pay them. Home business owners have a unique position regarding taxes in that they must actually budget for them. They do not have a business account manager automatically withdrawing their taxes before sending them a paycheck. They do, however, have several options and avenues to take when figuring their taxes.

First and foremost, home business owners can run the Certified Public Accountant route. They may opt to try to save money ultimately by paying someone else to do figure and file their taxes. When a home business opts to do this, they have a third party to send the IRS to if they are ever audited, and they have a professional that understands the newest tax laws. Ultimately, a good CPA will save a home business owner more money than he costs. He will review the taxes and itemizations with the business owner before filing, and he will explain the forms clearly. When a home business owner leaves his CPAs office, he should never feel confused or leave with questions. If he does, then he either needs to speak up more or consider finding a new CPA, one that teaches more than dictates.

Secondly, a great home business owner understands the need to set aside money for taxes. He should maintain a separate checking account just for his business, and whenever he withdraws money for personal use, such as feeding his family or paying the electric bill at home, he should deduct 25 percent from that amount and set it aside for taxes. When he does this, he creates a tax cushion so that when the CPA informs him of what he owes, he will have that money at hand and not have to do something stupid, like charge the taxes on a credit card.

Finally, the tax-savvy home business owner is a saver. He will save receipts whenever he purchases items. While no one wants a messy office or to have the closet of a pack rat, the successful home business owner still keeps these little slips of paper. He creates a filing system that both works for him and makes sense to the general populace that may ever need to find a receipt.

Ultimately, taxes should not be the headache that they have become for home business owners. Sure, we all have to pay them. But in the process, if the home business owner plans for taxes and uses a professional to help him file, he will end up far better off than he could ever imagine in his post-tax world. <bio>Jim Biscardi is owner of Dynamic Wealth Systems, LLC and writes on a variety of subjects.
No good deed goes unrewarded. This is even true as far as the tax man is concerned.

As human beings we are compelled to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. It makes us feel good inside when we are able to help a family in trouble, donate money to the church, or donate our old clothes to the Good Will. But did you know that these acts of kindness can actual lower the amount of taxes that you pay?

Tax credits are given by our government to encourage and reward acts of kindness and donations to charitable organizations.

Tax credits in many ways are better than tax deductions. You see... a tax deduction is a method that lowers your taxable earned income. For instance, a tax deduction could be the interest you pay on your house, or the contributions you make to your employers 401(k) plan. With lower earned income, you pay less tax.

A Tax Credit on the other hand, does not require you to lower your earned income to receive a reduction in the taxes you pay. You simply calculate how much you owe for taxes and then subtract the tax credit from the total.

For tax year 2006 , taxpayers filing as single and unmarried head of household have a maximum credit amount of $200. Taxpayers that are filing as married filing joint have a maximum credit of $400. Taxpayers filing married filing separate have a maximum credit of $200. What this means is that if you contribute to a charitable organization you can take anywhere from $200 to $400 off the amount of taxes you owe to the government. Where else can you get a deal like that?

As always check with your accountant or tax professional for advice on making charitable donations and tax credits. However, tax credits are available to everyone and are fairly straight-forward.

Charitable organizations help thousands of people every year have a better life. Who knew that in helping them do their job, you too could benefit. I pays to help others. <bio>Get great information on how to reduce your Income Taxes and Capital Gains Taxes by signing up for our free newsletter at http://www.taxes-rule.com </bio>

The best part about filing your taxes is getting the tax refund check! Chances are, you have been paying your taxes directly, or your employer has been withholding tax dollars from your paychecks. Many individuals overpay on their taxes, so they quickly file their taxes to get their tax refunds and soon as possible.

How do tax refunds work?

Your employer withholds some of money from your paycheck, based on a formula and the information you provided on your W4 when you got hired. This withheld amount is applied towards your tax payment to the IRS.

Because the formula is only based on the allowances you showed on your W4 and of your paycheck, it doesn't take other factors of your life into consideration. For example, hospital expenses, tuition payments, and childcare expenses aren't considered.

When you file your taxes, you have the opportunity to claim these expenses as deductions. A deduction reduces your overall income. Therefore, you owe less in taxes and are qualified for tax refunds.

Because you pay taxes to both the federal government and to the state, you might receive two tax refunds. The amount will depend on how much you have overpaid throughout the year. To make sure you receive both tax refunds, you will have to file your taxes with both the federal government and the state government.

How do I get my tax refunds?

To get your tax refunds, you have to file your tax returns. You can do this on your own or by hiring a tax accountant or specialist. You must also make the deadline, which is usually in April, or file for an extension. You can find more information on these topics at the IRS website.

Most individuals opt to file taxes on their own to save from having to pay professional fees to tax specialists. Thanks to the Internet, almost anyone can easily file their taxes online! There are many software and program choices available online.

You will need your W2's or 1099's, and other documents to file your taxes. Once you have these documents, you can use online tax filing programs to plug in your information. Tax filing programs are easy to use, with clear instructions and instant help. The program will guide you through each step, and will even help you find deductions to maximize your deductions and refund checks!

Where do I get my tax refunds?

You will usually receive your tax refund checks in the mail within three weeks. When you file your taxes online, you can also choose to have your tax refunds directly deposited into your bank account. All you need is your bank account and routing numbers, which you can easily locate at the bottom of your personal check. When you choose the direct deposit option, you'll receive your check in half the time.

The most important thing to remember about tax refunds is that you have to file to receive them. So save all your receipts and documents for deductions, and get your tax returns in by April --your money is waiting! <bio>Get the latest in tax refunds know how from the only true source at http://www.taxplus2.com.
There is an adage that claims that the only things certain in life are taxes and deaths. One could presume that tax laws are as easily determined and understood as one identifies death. When a person stops breathing and his brain stops functioning, he's dead. However, this is not the case with taxes. There is nothing easily understood, clear, and simple when it comes to tax laws. Thus, more tax troubles ensue not because of disregard for the tax laws but because of misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the laws. Tax collectors, indeed, have very taxing jobs. Aside from collecting taxes from people who do not want to part with their hard-earned money, they also have to ensure that these people pay their fair share. Fortunately, Texas taxes, Texas tax laws, and policies are one of the lowest and manageable among the states. There is no magic in this; Texas simply does not charge income tax for state purpose. As a result, Texas taxes are not managed by the CPA of the state but the IRS.

This instance does not mean that Texas tax laws are lax and lenient. There are still several key events that tax collectors and auditors regularly deal with regarding Texas taxes. For one, there is the matter of tax evasion. Though used interchangeably with tax avoidance, there is an essential difference between the two that makes evasion a crime. Tax avoidance simply merits finding loopholes in Texas taxes, Texas tax laws, and policies, and using these to lower tax burdens by legal means. This ensures that the individual pays the least amount of tax as legally possible. Though this may cause tension between the collector and the taxpayer, this is something that can be easily settled with an audit. If the audit confirms that all tax deductions are valid, the taxpayer can get away with his minimum tax. However, if the audit proves otherwise, and the taxpayer was found out to have employed unlawful means to evade paying taxes such as under-declaring income, he could be charged with tax evasion. The legality of the methods used to lower taxes is the difference between the two.

Even if they lack state tax, Texas taxes, Texas tax laws, and policies require that the IRS conduct regular audits. These audits ensure that the taxpayers honestly meet their obligations. These are done in three ways, and the most employed is randomization. In this method, the IRS randomly selects income tax files from the submitted returns. Since there is a probability and a chance that they would be evaluated, taxpayers are driven to be honest with their tax information, thereby, limiting tax evasion cases. The second method employs a computer program used to spot evasion patterns which are prevalent among tax evaders. Evasion patterns such as unusually large allowances for entertainment are red-flagged. Individuals who are repeatedly tagged for the same pattern are investigated.

Thus, even if Texas does not have state income taxes, stringent Texas taxes, Texas tax laws, and policies, ensure efficient tax collection. Texans do not suffer from burdensome state taxes since the tax collection system employed in the state more than suffice for needs of Texas. Texas proves that added taxes are not guarantees for increasing state income. <bio>For more valuable information on texas taxes, please visit http://www.taxtexas.com </bio>

When it comes to owning a home business, there are lots of things that you are probably thinking about. First of all, the idea of staying at home for work is something that a lot of people dream of. The idea of being at ease with what you are doing, and feeling free to do as you please is also something that a lot of people want to do, so you aren't alone. However, there are some things that you should keep in mind.

First of all, as you begin a home business one of the first things you should do is go and talk to an accountant. Remember that when you are employed by someone, your taxes are taken out of your pay, and all you have to do is to file them at the end of the year. However, with a home business you are the one who has to be in charge of doing taxes, and so it isn't going to get done for you.

That said, it can be something that is tricky to do. If you wait until the last minute, or if you do something that you aren't sure about, you might find that someone is able to rip you off, and if you are trying to file taxes on your own without knowing what you are doing, you might end up spending much more money than you think you'll be spending.

So, the best thing that you can do is to visit someone who does this for a living. But make sure that it is someone who deals with home business owners on a regular basis, so that you can be sure you know what is going on and they do to. Another good option would be to find an accountant that comes well recommended. However, no matter what you find for an accountant, there is still a chance that they might rip you off as well.

The best thing that you can do is to find someone you trust to help you with your taxes, but never go into the situation without knowing what you are doing. Take a look at some tax courses and make sure that you are aware of what kinds of taxes you should be filing, and when you should be filing them. This is something that is very important for you to do because you want to be sure that you are able to get as much money back as you can and that you aren't paying too much. Many times owners of home businesses overpay because they simply don't know what they are doing, and you have to be sure that this isn't going to happen to you at all.

Copyright =A9 Yan Fortin http://yanbiz.payitforward4profits.com/ <bio>To find the best home based business ideas and opportunities so you can work at home visit: http://yanbiz.payitforward4profits.com </bio>

1.Contribute to your employer's 401(k)

The easiest way to reduce the amount of your taxable income is to contribute the maximum to your 401(k) or there tax deferred savings plan. This process is simple to do, just visit you Human Resources Department to obtain the proper forms. From there, money will be withdrawn from each paycheck and deposited in an account under your name, which will be invested in the instrument of your choice.

2.Use a Flex Spending account for your medical expenses

A flex spending account is a fund that you can use to pay your planned medical expenses. And the best part, the money is tax-free. That is right, simply fill out the forms at your HR department and money will be withdrawn from your check before the taxes are taken out. Where else can you pay for your doctor's services using tax free money? Please be sure to read all the details of your plan, as plans can vary.

3.Use a business entity to deduct "business related expenses"

If you are in business, make sure to form an "official" company using the structure that makes the most sense for your situation. As a business owner, you will be able to deduct certain expenses from your taxable business income. Examples of things you can deduct: Your office space in your home (% of rent), vehicle usage and depreciation, computers, printers, meals, etc. If you are in the right type of business, you may be able to deduct nearly every expense through your business. Please check with your accountant for clarification .. 4.Buy a Home

Are you a renter? If so, you are paying a lot more taxes than you would if you had purchased a home. Interest on a Mortgage Loan is tax deductible. The bottom line is buy... don't rent. Buying is also a good way to build equity... that is you are treating your home as a piggy bank, because a portion of your mortgage payment goes to equity in your house.
Owning a property abroad brings financial responsibilities that can include meeting local and UK tax requirements.

Every country has a different taxation system, and it's worth knowing a little more about the tax system in the country where you're purchasing your new property abroad. The last thing you want after you've moved into your dream property is to discover you have a huge tax bill to pay.

What sort of taxes can you expect to pay? Well, that depends on what you're planning to do with your property. If you're moving there permanently, or using it exclusively to holiday during the year, you may only be liable for local taxes. However, because they vary widely, both at the time of purchase and whilst you are an owner or occupier, you should get some professional advice. Taxes can include:

• Stamp duty • Land tax • Registration tax • Property transfer tax • VAT equivalents

To avoid paying too much tax, or getting in difficulty for not paying the right taxes, consult a tax expert; either in your country of purchase, or a UK tax accountant who specialises in tax issues for owners of property abroad. They should be able to advise you properly; so that you only pay the taxes you are liable for.

UK tax on your property abroad

If you are renting out your property abroad, thereby earning an income, you could be liable for tax in the UK. To check this, you need to talk to your local tax office. Explain your plans and they should be able to give you some advice. Remember that the UK has an agreement with certain countries that ensures that British citizens don't get taxed in both countries for the same thing. Check if the country where you're buying your property abroad has signed up to this agreement. <bio>HolidayHomeNow has been set up to provide useful, practical information for those people researching and looking into buying a second property or holiday home abroad.
The exact definition of a tax lien is a charge against a property by operation of law. Tax liens and assessments take priority over all other types of liens.

In simple terms, if a property owner doesn't pay their property taxes, a lien is levied by the county to collect the taxes, which they then sell to investors.

Basically, unpaid taxes become a lien filed with the county the property is located on until the taxes are paid. If the taxes aren't paid for a predetermined amount of time, the owner will lose his or her property. While this is happening, a penalty is added to the lien ranging from 8% to 50% per year. THAT is where you're looking for a guaranteed return on your investment.

Let me back up a minute -- when there is a lien on a property, it basically means that no one can buy or get a loan on this property until the lien is satisfied (paid in full.) This is why government-issued tax liens are such a safe investment; because you are guaranteed to receive either your money or the property. The concept is that you are stepping in the government's shoes for a while and paying them for a lien they placed on the property (because the property owner didn't pay their property taxes) which entitles you to the state mandated interest rate on the amount you purchase the lien for (again, this rate is anywhere from 8% to 50%.)

The reason the government offers this tremendous opportunity boils down to that age-old, simple concept -- money. Without money, the county government cannot exist. Think of just a few minor things that money will cover:

** Road repairs/street signs ** Police salaries ** School funding

Did you know that in some counties over 60% of their revenue comes from property taxes? I'm sure you can see why the government can be more than happy to place a lien on a property and sell it to you for the interest.

Think about it; they collect their money from you buying the tax lien--they're happy. They are charging sometimes ten times the interest of a CD and guess what? They aren't paying the interest; the homeowner is. The government will always get their tax dollars, while the smart investors are making fortunes buying these liens. Remember, you are not buying the lien itself; you are buying the tax lien certificate offered by the county.

The counties really don't want these liens; they'd rather have the money! This way they're not stuck holding the lien until the property owner finally pays--which sometimes never happens anyway. <bio>To Learn More, please visit http://www.taxliensdirect.com </bio>

The last thing most people think about when starting a business is doing taxes. But proper planning will make doing your taxes much easier - and keep the IRS happy!

Here are 3 simple tips for keeping proper records:

1. Whenever you buy anything for your business, keep the receipt!

Not only will this make record keeping a lot simpler, but if you are ever audited (having your tax return reviewed in detail by the IRS), you can prove your expenses, and save yourself money.

2. Write down all your expenses and income as they happen.

As your business grows, you'll have more and more activities to keep you busy. The last thing you'll want to do each April 15 is to organize your records for the year. So, it's a good idea to write down all your financial activities as they happen. You'll find preparing your taxes will take much less time if you are organized.

3. Learn how to save money on your taxes.

As you learn about taxes, you'll find that there are many deductions (expenses that reduce your income, and therefore your taxes) you can take that are not obvious. When using your home office, you may be able to deduct (at least partially) repairs you make around the house, utilities, your home's value at the time you start your business, and more.

The more you know about taxes, and the more organized you are in keeping records, the more time and money you'll save at the end of every year!

What happens if you don't keep proper records?

Individuals with small businesses are the most likely to have their tax returns audited by the IRS. If you don't have a receipt, you will likely lose the deduction and owe the IRS money.

And while an audit does not have to be feared, you should be prepared - the more organized your records, the easier it will be to prove your case.

If you don't have one, get a file box and some folders at your local office supply store (these supplies are deductible, so keep your receipts!) and create a filing system for your business. Put all your receipts in the proper folders, and put them in a safe place.

Another way to save yourself time is to record all of your business transactions - expenses and income - on a spreadsheet on your computer. Keep a column for income, advertising, supplies, etc. You don't need to be a computer expert. But keeping accurate, organized records will help you save time when you fill out your taxes at the end of the year.

And it can help you plan, by giving you a snapshot or your financial progress whenever you need it.

Which may come in handy when you need to place ads, borrow money - or take a much needed and well-deserved vacation! <bio>Kris Bickell is the owner of www.Debt-Tips.com, a helpful site for consumers needing financial help.
EMBRACE TAX

I know you hate tax. Everyone hates tax. You work every week, do a few extra hours and see a chunk of it taken away in taxes.

It doesn't seem worth it. Why should you work those extra hours just to be taxed at a higher rate and never see any benefit?

Minimising tax is a national sport. Everyone is trying to get tax deductions, salary sacrificing, retirement plans, you name it. If there's a deduction to be had chances are you are trying to find it to reduce your tax, because you HATE paying taxes.

The hatred of paying more tax keeps people in their positions of employment because they don't want to get promoted because this means they will earn more and have to pay more taxes.

For those of you familiar with quantum physics and the law of attraction this will make a lot of sense. For those of you who are not I suggest you watch What The Bleep Do We Know <a href="http://www.whatthebleep.com" >http://www.whatthebleep.com and The Secret. Either way try and apply what I say next.

Whatever you concentrate on and give your energy to, you will attract more of. If you spend your time worrying about taxes, hating taxes, you will attract more taxes and you will hate them even more.

So try this. Embrace tax. Love tax. Be glad to pay tax. I'm kidding you right? Wrong.

My goal is to have a $1 million tax bill. Do you know why?

Because that means I've made a heap of money. But it also means that my government now has an extra $1 million it didn't have before to fund programs like health and education.

Now I'm a philanthropist at heart but not in practice. What I mean by that is, I would love to help the needy but don't know how to start. Fortunately there are thousands of organizations who apply to the government for grants so they can do just that =96 help the needy.

So my tax is actually my DONATION, yes say that again, DONATION to my government so that it can care for people who need health care, education, housing, crisis assistance etc.

You see the difference? If you love tax for what it can do and send it into the world with a positive energy, positive energy will flow back to you. You will probably have to pay more taxes, do you know why? Because you'll be earning more money!

Embrace tax. Cherish it as your donation, your way of helping, your way of giving. I know that tithing is sometimes difficult when you are on a tight budget and small wage so ask the universe to accept your tax as your tithe. You will be amazed at the changes that begin to take place in your bank balance, your wallet and your end of year refund as a result.

Kathy Hassed http://www.sizzletheworld.com <bio>Kathy Hassed is a freelance writer and team leader for Sisel International http://www.sizzletheworld.com </bio>

Obama claims that he plans to pay for his spending increases by taxing corporations and the rich, while cutting taxes to the middle class. What he does not tell you is that his tax plans will essentially raise taxes on the poorest Americans. He also does not tell you that his taxes on the rich will not come even close to paying for more tax cuts for the middle class. He says that he will pay for his programs by closing corporate tax loopholes. He does not say which loop holes he will close. Many tax loopholes were created to encourage large corporations to help the poor. Closing these loopholes will hurt many of the poorest of Americans.

There are two other major ways that Obama plans on taxing the poor. One is by raising taxes on corporations and second is by making businesses pay for insurance for people who do not work for their companies. Both of these programs will significantly impact the poor and especially the poorest of all Americans.

Obama like many Democrats, is relying on the general lack of understanding of how taxes work. They want you to think that they are taxing someone else. There is only one group of Americans that pay taxes, that is the individual tax payer. Yes, you can tax companies and corporations but they are not the ones who pay the taxes. The taxes are paid by the people who buy their products or use their services. If you raise taxes on businesses they have no choice but to add the cost into the prices of their products or services. If they do not they go out of business. Below is an example of how taxing corporations affects prices. For the example I will use food because everyone including the poorest of the poor has to buy food.

The example is a can of pears. Since almost all farmers have incorporated to be able to stay in business, they will have to raise their prices. They send the pears to a packing house that is incorporated so they have to raise their price. A trucking company takes the pears to manufacturer to can the pears, they have to raise their price to pay the corporate taxes. The pears are sent to a national distributor, who has mark up their price. The distributor sends the canned pears to the local grocery store, which is also incorporated, so they have to raise their prices as well. This means that at least 5 different corporations have had to raise their prices just so you can buy a can of pears.

It works this way for every product manufactured in America. It does not matter if it is food, cars, electronics cosmetics pharmaceuticals or anything else. If you raise taxes on corporations the consumer has to pay more for every product they buy.

The second way Obama plans on taxing the poor is in his health care plan. His plan calls for all companies (incorporated or not) to pay for health care not only for their employees but they will also have to pay into a pool for people who do not work for their companies. When you make companies pay for insurance for people who are not employed by the company then you raise their costs. They have no choice but to raise their prices to be able to make ends meet. Who ends up paying or the insurance for 45 million Americans? You do! Under Obama's plan, everyone will have to pay more, even the people who cannot now afford to feed and clothe their families.

To sum up there are three ways Obama's plan will affect the poor.

1. Closing corporate loopholes designed to help the poor.
2. Forcing the poor to pay for the many levels of price increases due to corporate taxes.
3. Forcing all business to pay into a pool to cover those who do not have insurance will raise prices on the products that the poor purchase.<bio>Rusty Ford Editor http://www.my-local-news.com/</bio>

When you discuss your life insurance needs with a broker, are you sure you are asking the right questions or do you feel that you are still confused? Let's take a look at the function of life insurance and see if yours is working for you.

The Four Reasons To Have Life Insurance

It provides security in case the main breadwinner in the family dies.

It provides money for charitable causes

It could pay future estate taxes

It could also provide a pension

If your life insurance isn't capable of replacing your main breadwinners' income, then you need to have more. The situation is even more important if you have children at home. There are many people who fail to protect their loved ones in this way. Also being able to pass on life insurance money to the next generation, can significantly lighten the financial load for your loved ones.

The second reason is giving to future generations. By specifying donations, you can provide relief to your favourite charitable organization.

Life Insurance Can Help With Taxes

If you've accumulated a lot of worldly goods, your life insurance can help to pay for the estate taxes. If you are unprepared, your heirs may face thousands of dollars in taxes after your death. Life insurance is a great way to pay those death taxes without eating into the estate itself.

Reassess Your Life Insurance After Your Working Years

Once you retire you may not need life insurance. If you have sufficient financial assets and your mortgage and children's education are paid, then you can reassess your life insurance at that time and perhaps drop it entirely. But it is always advisable to consult a broker before making any major changes in your portfolio of life insurance.

How To Calculate How Much Life Insurance You Need

If you have a growing family, the life insurance coverage has to generate enough income to support that family.

When you die the life insurance coverage becomes the life insurance capital and that capital has to be invested conservatively to generate the needed income.

Let's say you leave $1 million to a spouse and three children which, invested at 5%, will generate $50,000 before taxes. Is that sufficient? If so, that's what you need.

But What Happens To This Life Insurance Capital?

Here's one scenario. Your children grow up and leave. Your spouse their converts the $1,000,000 into an annuity or just continues the income as a pension. And that is one way you can be helped by life insurance. <bio>Ivon T.
It is the obligation of the government to collect taxes while it is the duty of the good citizens of the land to pay up. The International Revenue service is the United States government agency that is tasked to go about the collection.

In the United Kingdom, where tax has a rich history dating back into the ancient times, the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are the ones responsible of tax collection. In fairness, it is not an easy job for government units to go after the people to remind, sometimes force them, to file their income tax more so to pay for them.

To protect these government agencies, there are civil penalties that can be imposed ranging from fines to forfeiture for those who fail to pay their taxes or even for those who are late in filing and paying their taxes.

For those who persist in their delaying tactics or cheating data despite warnings and civil penalties, there could be criminal implications and penalties are harsher like imprisonment that are carried out by government units so capable in doing such jobs =96 the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice in the United States. There should be no excuse then for any individual or company not to pay taxes or else they will suffer.

There are filing income tax softwares available for use of whoever needs it. However it should be noted that different states have different tax laws. In Alaska and Florida for instance, there are no tax on individuals but there is a state corporation income tax. In New Hampshire, they have tax on interest and dividends, wages earned in other states and wages earned by non-residents while Tennessee has only tax on interest and dividends.

Washington has a corporate tax called the Business and Operations tax. There is a need then to be full aware of these laws because as an individual you might be paying taxes in a different state but you also have properties in other states that have different tax rules.

For starters, download or get hold of the filing income tax software for your use and reference. This software will help you in organizing your tax payables and supposedly will make it easier for you even when you have so many different kinds of taxes to deal with. You can actually hire someone to do these things for you but make sure that you are informed of the figures so that you can keep track. <bio>Low Jeremy maintains http://tax-software.articlesforreprint.com.
Phoenix, the capital of Arizona, is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. As for 2007, we don't know exactly what future brings, but interest rates remain low for sure, which is good.

Phoenix Real Estate property is in high demand. It is a perfect place to buy a property on more scores than one. Phoenix market is a good choice now and will be a strong market for a long time to come. This is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Low cost of living, no end of jobs, warm climate, blue skies...it is also a perfect place to live. Phoenix is a destination of choice or the second-landing city for immigrants from all over the world. They build thousands more new homes every year.

Owning a home is a good investment -- stereotyped phrase nowadays. It's also a place to live, place to be with our family. It gives freedom, stability and security to our life. There are some financial expenses -- like upkeep, insurance, real estate taxes - which must be paid. If someone plans to move to Arizona, it is indispensable to look after Arizona taxes. Some taxes are lower, some taxes are higher, compared to other states. For example Arizona charges a property tax for automobiles. It is paid along with the vehicle registration. But real estate taxes might be lower.

Owner-occupied residential properties are checked by local assessors in Arizona. They use computerized systems to value residential property for property tax purposes. Besides they use replacement cost new less depreciation or sales analysis method. They choose one of these methods, it depends on technical considerations such as the accuracy of each method for that area and the number of sales available for analysis. Owner-occupied residential properties and residential rental property are assessed at 10% of full cash value. The average tax rate on homes in Arizona before exemptions and rebates is approximately 1.3% of market value or 13% of assessed value. It is important to note that Arizona property taxes on owner-occupied residences are levied based on the Assessed Value, not current market value, because people usually get confused about that. The assessed value is always lower than market price, and it is important to use this number when we calculate taxes. <bio>Fruzsina Csery wrote this article to http://www.arizonaatoz.com </bio>

If you are self-employed, your income is subject to a 15.3% self-employment FICA tax. Added to a 28% Federal income tax and a 5% state income tax, this could leave you paying nearly 50% of your income to the government. Fortunately, most self-employed people qualify to set up an HRA or Health Reimbursement Arrangement. An HRA can enable your business to reimburse you for health insurance and out-of-pocket medical expenses, and will save you an extra $3,000 each year.

Health Reimbursement Arrangements for the Self-Employed

An HRA is simply an agreement which enables your business to cover employee's medical expenses, including individual health insurance premiums, as a tax-free fringe benefit. This tax benefit was established in Section 105 of the IRS tax code in 1955, when General Electric lobbied for a business reimbursement rule to give it more flexibility in creating employee benefits.

Anyone set up as an S-corp or C-corp qualifies to set up an HRA. If you are a Schedule C or Schedule F sole proprietor, an HRA is allowed if your spouse can work at least part time in the business. You will be setting up an employee benefits package that covers health insurance premiums, disability insurance premiums, long-term care premiums, and even out-of-pocket medical expenses such as dental coverage.

An HRA makes your taxes go down because when you get to write off medical expenses on your Schedule C, you avoid paying Federal income taxes, state income taxes, and the 15.3% FICA self-employment tax. Not only can the business reimburse you for the cost of health insurance premiums, but you can also set up the HRA to reimburse for dental coverage, preventive care, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, and other out-of-pocket medical expenses.

If you are self-employed but do not have an HRA, you can write off your health insurance premiums on your 1040, saving you Federal income taxes. But, you are still subject to FICA and state income taxes for these expenses. You are not able to write off any of the other expenses listed above.

Using an HRA with a Health Savings Account

Some financial advisors do not realize that you can have an HRA along with a Health Savings Account (HSA). You can of course. The only caveat is that the HRA cannot reimburse for expenses that could apply toward the deductible of the HSA, such as doctor visits or prescription drugs. But, it can cover any insurance premiums and preventive care.

The potential savings are substantial. Let's assume a business owner is in a 28% tax bracket, has an HSA plan, and is incurring the following expenses.

=95Health insurance premiums - $7,000 =95Preventive expenses - $1,000 =95Other insurance - $2,000

The self-employed business owner can write off the $7,000 premium on Federal income taxes, saving 28% of that or $1,960. If the HSA is fully funded, an additional $1,582 will be saved off of Federal income taxes and $282.50 from state income taxes. So, in total, the business owner's taxes will go down by $3,824.50.

Once an HRA is set up, the entire $10,000 in expenses listed above can be reimbursed by the business. So, the business owner would be saving a total of $2,800 from Federal income taxes, $500 from state income taxes, and $1,530 in self-employment taxes. The business owner will also get to take advantage of the same $1,960 in HSA tax savings, for a total tax reduction of $6,790.

Smart business owners take advantage of all the tax deductions for which they qualify. You can reimburse health insurance expenses from the beginning of the year, but out-of-pocket expenses only from the date your HRA begins. <bio>By Wiley Long - President, HSA for America (http://www.health--savings--accounts.com) - The nation's leading independent health insurance firm specializing in individual and family health insurance coverage that works with a Health Savings Account. </bio>

It is often said in life that two things are for certain =96 "Death and Taxes". Next in line is that "You Have to Live Somewhere"

Both are true. Both lead to property taxes. Are your property taxes too high? Are they properly assessed?

You may think that property taxes and their valuations are of little concern to you if you are a renter. Whether you rent a house, condo, apartment or commercial office, retail, hotel or warehouse space the taxes paid by the landlord are a component of your rent. Nothing is for nothing and unless the landlord is your uncle you are probably not getting away scot free of property taxes.

Over the last while property values have increased greatly. As property values increase you can be sure that your property taxes. You can be sure that few governments miss a chance to increase their take of taxes. Not only is that but realty taxes not a one shot deal. They are paid on a regular ongoing basis =96 year in, year out.

Yet often the means by which realty taxes are assessed are often a clouded issue. It makes sense if you realize that if the means by which your property taxes are assessed is not understood or explained easily =96 then the less the chances of home or business owners to realize that they are overpaying their realty taxes and dispute the amount of taxes charged =96 the taxes being charged are wrong. Of course almost all appeals of property tax charges are for overcharged property taxes, few appeals are done by homeowner for undercharged realty taxes. If you cannot understand the system, then you cannot complain and take action. It's like going to a mechanic and paying for a major car bill, on a yearly basis, without getting a full explanation on the bill or invoice of the work done to your car or vehicle.

In essence and summary realty taxes are supposed to be based on the assessed value of the property =96 whether it be vacant land or a building.

How can you determine the current and fair value of your property? First look at the sale price of similar properties in your neighborhood in the recent past.

This can be determined by direct question, the newspaper or local real estate publications, posting sites on the internet. As well your local real estate professional agent can be of great help. At the worst you can pay a professional home assessor a fee of several hundred dollars to assess the value of your house or commercial property.

Better to spend a couple of dollars now than spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars year in and out. Many local real estate publications are given away freely at local banks, businesses, malls and supermarkets. It's all promotion for the real estate industry and the Realtors to promote their sales. Why not use this especially collected, information that is available to you at little work as well as little or no cost as a proof source to your advantage.

Next contact your local tax authority or authorities. That can be a feat in itself. When you get through the maze of telephone answering machines and telephone tags of civil servants in conference simply explain that you are interested in how property taxes in your area are assessed. You would be amazed that by asking fair and reasonable specific questions in a reasonable manner how these people love to answer questions. In doing so they may explain the process to you along with a simple explanation, rates and unknowingly provide proof sources. You can give your name and address feely. The person on the other end of the phone line may even mail out explanatory supporting information or direct you to highly relevant websites.

With this information in hand you will be in a better position to understand and evaluate whether your property tax assessment are fair and fairly assessed.

Remember that ultimately property taxes are not evaluated and assessed one single property at a time. Property taxes are genially assessed for a given area.

The fairness of your property tax assessment will be in relationship to other similar properties. If possible compare your assessed property tax to those of your neighbors with similar properties.

In the end it is all about fairness. We all expect services from our municipality or city administration. Most people are more than willing to pay their share. However no one likes to or should overpay their property tax load. <bio>Sydney Z.
Nobody likes tax time. This is particularly true for the small business owner who has to deal with business taxes in addition to personal taxes. However, there are things that you can do throughout the year to reduce the stress that is felt at tax time. One of those things is to use a business credit card for all purchases that are made throughout the year. This keeps expenses easily organized and reduces the time that you'll spend trying to sort your business expenses from your personal expenses.

The Importance of Business Credit Cards

Every good business uses business credit cards. If you're a small business owner who doesn't yet have a business credit card, it's imperative that you get one. The business credit card makes it easier for you to make purchases and to keep those purchases organized. It also lends credibility to your business even if you're just a one-man operation. Consider going to lunch with a client and using cash to pay the bill. You look a lot more professional if you take out a business credit card to cover the cost.

Using a Business Credit Card Wisely

Assuming that you understand the importance of business credit cards and already have one, you should learn to start using it wisely. Wise use of a business credit card means using it for every single purchase that you make for the business and only for those purchases made for the business. In other words, you don't ever pay cash for business expenses and you don't ever put personal purchases on your business credit card. This is a very easy way to keep all of your business credit card purchase information in one place. It also keeps your personal expenses separate so that you don't have to think about them when it comes time to do your business taxes.

How Organization Makes Tax Time Easier

The main reason that people hate tax time is because it's so time-consuming and frustrating. If all of your business expenses are made on your business credit cards, you're not going to have this problem. You can get a copy of your annual statement and easily see what money was spent. This can be compared with information from your business bank account to see how your expenses compare with your income. Having this information on just a few documents makes doing your taxes a fairly straightforward process. It's just a matter of plugging in the numbers and seeing what happens.

Paying your Taxes with a Business Credit Card

It is possible to actually use business credit cards to pay your taxes if it turns out that you owe money to the government this year. The benefit of this is that it's done easily and it keeps yet another business expense organized on the card. The drawback is that there may be a fee associated with using a business credit card to pay your taxes. Weigh the fee against the benefits and decide whether you want to use your business card or your business bank account to pay what you owe. <bio>Robert Alan is an editor for http://www.CreditCardAssist.com and frequently contributing writer on various credit card-related topics.
No one wants to pay more taxes than they are lawfully required to. But sometimes in their quest for lower taxes, many people will fall prey to many scams that promise a lower tax bill. In the end, these scams are always more trouble than they are worth. My name is Drew Miles, and I am known as the Tax Savings Attorney. My goal is to help as many people lower their taxes to the absolute legal minimum, without any risk of facing problems with the IRS. I don't want anyone going through an audit or facing IRS penalties, so I want to show you a few common tax scams to look out for. One of the most common scams comes from those who oppose any taxation by the IRS. They claim that there is no law requiring you to pay taxes, and they say that filing is voluntary. Whether or not the law is on their side, if you don't file your taxes, the IRS is going to come after you.

A similar scam is to file a "zero return" claiming no income. This raises a huge red flag with the IRS, and is going to get you in trouble.Another common scam comes from those who prepare your taxes, and claim they can greatly reduce your taxes or promise you a large refund. Dishonest return preparers can cause many headaches for taxpayers who fall victim to their schemes. Such preparers derive financial gain by skimming a portion of their clients' refunds and charging inflated fees for return preparation services.Taxpayers should choose carefully when hiring a tax preparer. As the old saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." And remember, no matter who prepares the return, the taxpayer is ultimately responsible for its accuracy. Since 2002, the courts have issued injunctions ordering dozens of individuals to cease preparing returns, and the Department of Justice has filed complaints against dozens of others. During fiscal year 2005, more than 110 tax return preparers were convicted of tax crimes.

One common scam involves offshore transactions. Individuals continue to try to avoid U.S. taxes by illegally hiding income in offshore bank and brokerage accounts or using offshore credit cards, wire transfers, foreign trusts, employee leasing schemes, private annuities or life insurance to do so. The IRS and the tax agencies of U.S. states and possessions continue to aggressively pursue taxpayers and promoters involved in such abusive transactions. If you think that an offshore account is the ticket to lower taxes, you need to think again.People always ask me "Drew Miles, with all these scams out there, how can I legally lower my taxes?" The short answer is by taking advantage of the overlooked legal tax deductions, which can drastically reduce your taxable income.
