No matter how much you enjoy your pool or spa safety has to remain the top priority and as the old saying goes their no better defense against pool accidents than a good offense. We will go over some of the best ways to ensure your pool or spa is safe. The best way to start is to think of your pool or hot tub area with circles of defense. The most important area of defense is in supervision we can not watch or kids like we do in the house otherwise known as passive supervision we go about our daily chores while the kids play in their room or watch TV this type of supervision is not acceptable in the pool area we must maintain direct constant supervision and riley on alarms or bells to watch or pool or hot tub areas.

You must remember that you need to protect not only your kids but maybe a new puppy or the neighbor kids from entering your pool area. In the circle of defense you should start with a god quality fence that has an automatically locking gate, the next circle of defense is a pool alarm this will sound off if the pool is disturbed, follow this up with a security pool cover these three circles should ensure that no children or animals enter your pool with out adult supervision.

Your first pool party what are the dos and don'ts. You would think that in a party atmosphere with many people around to help watch the kids that the would be safe the problem is everyone thinks everyone else is watching the kids so in fact no one is watching the kids except in a passive manner. The remedy for this hire a life guard for the party or assign a qualified adult you may check with your local YMCA or youth camps you may be able to hire one of theirs. Another big rule no alcohol consumption when using the pool. The use of floaties small inflated arm bands or floating rings should not be allowed if a child can not stand up or is unable to swim at an acceptable level they should be in a coast guard approved life jacket.

Another area of pool safety is in the general operation of the pool you should have your pool inspected periodically to ensure that the pool drains and covers are in good shape and of the type that will not allow hair or body parts to become entangled. The electrical portion of the pool should be inspected to make sure that GFCI circuits re working properly also check and maintain the proper levels of chemicals to keep harmful bacteria out of the water. <bio>Jake plumer writes for http://www.a1hottub.com </bio>

CB radio offers a short-range communication system that can be used for business as well as hobby purposes. One need not have any technical qualifications to use it. CB radio service generally doesn't interfere with other radio signals. This is normally accomplished through frequency regulations adopted by the government. Considering the safety aspects, many governments have made it mandatory to have a license for operating a CB radio.

The signals sent into the air do not stop at the borders; therefore, every country should have the proper rules set up for planning and managing the radio signals so that one does not interfere with another. If this fails, the CB radio service is useless. Therefore, the installation and use of CB radios should by done with someone with a valid license, preferably one issued by a government agency. The agency manages the radio signal spectrum in such a manner that they are available to those who need them.

In the UK, the agency that regulates the use of CB radio is a subdivision of the department of trade and industry. They manage the CB radio spectrum of the UK both nationally and internationally. CB radios can be used only with a valid license or under the supervision of a license holder. OAP networks, Girls Guides and Scouts are exempted from having a license. The license is issued by the radio-licensing center in the UK. Other countries have other agencies that issue CB radio licenses.

As noted above, the user either should have a valid license to operate or be under the supervision of a license holder. Supervision by a licensee stipulates that both the licensee and the non-license holder should be in close proximity. However, genuine cases of group operations are exempt from direct supervision. Normally, the license is issued in the name of the CB radio license holder. Individuals under the age of 14 are not issued a license.

A license is still required for the reception of CB signals, even without transmission. Walkie-talkies are exempted from licensing, but they do need to conform to the agency directives on equipment. Taxi drivers should be licensed individually and the taxi company must comply with all the rules of CB radio service. Normally the license is valid for one year, after which it must be renewed for further use. If caught using the license for illegal activity, the agency may cancel the license. <bio>http://www.information-finers.com http://www.auto-tips-tools.com </bio>

Will it not be harmless and well protected if any distasteful and erratic incident to take place in our business or home environment and then in that case we actually come to know who the real criminal is? Well it is as easy as it means. After the installation of the spy cam all we have to do is immediately switch the camera on and gather the information to know what precisely went on in our absence. These cameras are the ultimate solutions to all our problems whether at home and big or small business premises too. Earlier we could think to hire a security guard to take care of our homes or the business surroundings. But today it is getting too expensive to hire and pay them due to labor-intensive problem. It is always a wise decision to pay once for the hidden camera or the spy camera and get it installed at the work place and at home always.

The foundation of individual inspiration has entirely transformed with the assistance of latest apparatus. Earlier as our ancestors were upset because they could not afford to buy the familiar requirements of existence for which they living and working hard, while today we have all the easy ways to buy, possess and make use of all the ultra modern appliances which are formed for our ease. The hidden cameras, the spy cams and many more these types of cameras are some of them. Many are deciding and changing on for healthier and superior form of life style. People can effortlessly monitor the activities and misdemeanors of the employees or the staff at the work place along with the mechanism of the hidden cameras. Supervision with the help of the spy cams or the hidden cameras is a beginning and a nonstop procedure for us who in the due course can endow with enhanced eminence and adequate features. Nonstop supervision prospects can get hold of the interruptions at bay by making use of these cameras at our work place.

It is a blame that leads to an unreasonable effect that any individual cannot be able to handle solely without the aid of the proper equipments and he/she is singled out to bear all the responsibilities alone. The right way to fulfill the responsibilities with competence is to make use of the hidden cameras and experience the difference and see how far they can help us in many ways. Everyone has the right to privacy, supervision and security of the home and business environments. It is a simple reflection towards the human's needs. Like a life without privacy is unthinkable like that only supervision without proper equipments is unthinkable. Today many people need privacy and everyone needs some time to be accountable only to one self, time to think, to reconsider the things one believes and the reasons for the installation of the hidden cameras. Ultimately they are the one's who will feel on top of the world after the installation of the same.<bio>for cheap wireless spy cam and for more information on wireless spy cams Please visit:http://www.my-spycam.com/wireless-spy-cams/</bio>

There are many children that do have certain allergies and as most of you already know, they also have very sensitive skin most of the times, so you have to be real careful as to what products you use on them. In this article I want to provide you with more information about aromatherapy products, so that you can find out if they are safe for your children and how important it is that you never allow your children to use these types of products without your supervision. If used properly, after first finding out if your child is going to be sensitive to the products, your child can truly benefit tremendously from these types of amazing products. Aromatherapy products can be very beneficial to your children and as long as they are used under your supervision, they can enjoy the wonderful products just as much as you do.

The essential oils that are part of the aromatherapy kits will include products that can help your child rest better at night, improvement in their mood throughout the day and their overall health and mental wellness. Usually if a baby cries a great deal, it is because they can not express their thoughts or concerns through speaking and they are usually trying to tell you something. Sometimes they are hungry, other times they might have a bit of a tummy ache, no matter what it is, if you begin using aromatherapy products with your child, you will notice quite a big difference in their mood and overall attitude fairly quickly. It is so important to pamper your children and make them feel good as often as possible and they normally will respond in a very positive manner, just wait, you will see! By using aromatherapy with your children, you will have the opportunity to see just how much better it makes them feel and even sometimes behave. There are ingredients in these types of products that are very soothing to a child, as well as to adults and often times we all need to be soothed one way or another, it really tends to make all that stress just disappear.

There are some ingredients in aromatherapy products such as lavender, which can help to ease your child's pain from a terrible earache and we all know just how terrible earaches can be for the children. Using some of the essential oil products in the children's bath will really be beneficial as well because often times some of these products can really relax the heck out of the, helping them to rest better once they do go down for the night. Always talk with your family doctor before you ever use any aromatherapy products on your children, just to make sure that they see it to be suitable as well and to make sure that they do not have any concerns regarding aromatherapy products. Everyone that has experimented with such products are generally very much pleased and can not wait until more new and improved products are available on the market. <bio>http://www.BestAromatherapyInfo.com brings you real information on the latest in aromatherapy info.
Puppies are going to naturally go through a developmental phase that includes chewing almost everything in sight. They do this to help with the pain of their teeth cutting through their gums. This is very similar to what infant babies go through. Usually puppies will stop this chewing behavior at about nine months old when all of their teeth have come through. If your dog has reached one year of age and is still chewing everything in sight, it may be a sign that you need to look at the behavior further.

Chewing can be a habit that your dog acquires because of boredom, anxiety, or even frustration. It doesn't matter why your dog chews, the behavior can be dangerous to your dog and can very expensive for you. The first step in stopping your dog's chewing problem is to catch him in the process of chewing something. You can limit the amount of items your dog has available to chew by offering them constant supervision and eliminating some of their favorite chew items such as shoes.

Once you catch your dog in the process of chewing and item, make it known that this is not the correct behavior for your puppy. Continue to offer your puppy very limited time to roam the house and always supervise. With this constant supervision, it offers you the opportunity to catch your dog in the act of chewing. When you are not able to offer the constant supervision necessary to keep your dog from chewing items, it is important to combine them in a small area or crate. In their crate, offer them appropriate chew toys so they begin to learn which type of toys they can chew and which items they should not be chewing.

Give your dog a special spot in the house where they can keep their favorite chew toys. Always keep these safe dog toys in this area alone; that way the dog will always know where to go when they feel like they need to chew on something. Some of the most popular chew toys for dogs are old socks, rawhide, safe toys, and knucklebones. Many people say that Rawhide should only be given to dogs while you are there to supervise because sometimes pieces can break off and cause your puppy to choke.

Anytime you are trying to teach your puppy to behave in a certain manner, it is important to provide stability in the training. Be consistent in your commands and provide only appropriate toys to chew on. If you do not want your dog to chew on shoes, don't offer them an old shoe as a chew toy. If you want your dog to stay away from the children's squeaky toys, don't offer them squeaky dog toys to chew on. <bio>If you want to be more successful with your training, read more dog training articles by Kelly Marshall: http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/news/cat/5/dog-training-tips.html </bio>

Jerry Pounds, writing on the Management-Issues web site recently put out an interesting piece called: "Litigation awaits for insensitive employers." Here's a key passage.

"Judges and juries are linking musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular disease, psychological disorders, suicide, cancer, ulcers, impaired immune function and workplace injuries to a wide spectrum of emotional workplace stressors."

Ultimately, in our litigious society, there's no way to assure that you won't get sued or that you'll win if you do. The good news, though, is that there are some basic things you can do to improve your odds.

The best defense against a claim that you were an unfair boss is to be a fair one. Sounds simple, huh? But lots of companies spend lots of time worrying about legal strategies when they should be paying attention to the quality of supervision in their company.

Bottom line: it's the immediate boss that matters. If you doubt that, try this test.

Find someone who works outside the home and who has kids. Ask the kids if they know their parent's boss's name. They almost certainly will.

Ask them if their parent's boss ever makes a difference in their mom or dad's mood. They'll almost certainly say, "Yes."

Or, don't try that experiment. Just read this quote from GE's CEO, Jeff Immelt. Immelt's father worked on the line at GE for more than twenty years.

"I always tell our leaders that they're GE to the people in this company. When I would sit around the kitchen table with my dad, I never knew who the CEO of GE was. I knew my dad's boss. ... when he had a good boss, he was pumped. The frontline folks are critical to how the company does."

The immediate boss, not the one at the top of the organizational chart is the one that makes the most difference. When a work team is productive and morale is high, it's usually tied to the behavior of the boss. When a worker claims to have been abused, or ridiculed, or treated unfairly, those charges are usually tied to the behavior of their immediate supervisor, too.

So, the problem for your company is to improve the quality of supervision at every level. The solution has three parts.

First, promote folks who will do a good job of supervision. Not every good worker will make a good supervisor. Not everyone who wants to be a supervisor will be good at it. When in doubt, try a person in short-term leadership assignments to see what happens.

Next, help newly promoted supervisors make the transition. That starts with basic training.

Next, provide training and support in key areas that new supervisors will have to know. That includes company policies and procedures as well as basic supervision and communications skills.

Help them identify role models and mentors. Most new managers learn the ropes more from watching and talking to others and not from classroom work.

Provide just-in-time help. That can be job aids, reference materials or a more experienced manager that the new manager can go to for advice.

Give them a way to talk to other supervisors about supervisory work. In my book Performance Talk, I tell the story of Karen, a newly promoted manager. She learns about the real world of supervision by participating in a roundtable. You can organize these locally.

Make sure that training becomes a lifetime proposition. The thing about leading others is that you will never learn all there is to know.

Finally, hold leaders at all levels accountable for their leadership. The leader, whatever the level, has two key objectives: accomplish the mission and care for the people.

Make sure your performance evaluations for bosses measure their performance as bosses. Reward good performance. Correct poor performance.

That's not easy, and in most companies it won't be quick. But doing a good job in the first place is a whole lot better than defending a bad job later. And there's a bonus. In addition to not getting sued, you'll probably be more profitable. <bio>Wally Bock is an author, speaker, consultant and coach who helps leaders improve the performance and morale of their teams.
As warmer months move in to push out the chill of winter, we begin to eye our beautiful backyard pools again. But pool safety should be considered year-round, because if you have a pool in your backyard, it is a 24-7 responsibility. Here are some pool safety rules to follow:

Pool Safety Rule #1: Always watch children when they are by or in the pool.

Pool Safety Rule #2: If throwing a pool party, make sure at least one adult is designated to keep a close eye on children at all times.

Pool Safety Rule #3: Teach children to float or swim as soon as possible. Experience, however, is by no means a replacement for supervision.

Pool Safety Rule #4: Make sure the pool is surrounded on all sides by a fence higher than 5 feet tall.

Pool Safety Rule #5: Make sure the fence as self-closing and has self-latching gates.

Pool Safety Rule #6: Make sure the latches are out of reach of young children.

Pool Safety Rule #7: Do not keep tables or chairs near the fence, this would allow children to climb over it and gain access to the pool.

Pool Safety Rule #8: Keep pool toys out of and away from the pool when you are not using them, as they might attract unsupervised children to the pool.

Pool Safety Rule #9: Remove any pool covering completely before allowing anyone to swim.

Pool Safety Rule #10: Do not use floatation devices as a substitute for supervision.

Pool Safety Rule #11: Learn CPR.

Pool Safety Rule #12: Never leave children unattended by the pool. If the phone or doorbell rings or you have to go inside for any reason, get the children out of the pool.

Pool Safety Rule #13: Keep rescue tools, like a long, light pole and a floatation ring, near the pool. You don't want them to be misplaced so let children know that these tools are not toys. Teach everyone in the family how to use the tools.

Pool Safety Rule #14: Use plasticware by the pool instead of glassware.

Pool Safety Rule #15: Provide "touch supervision" around infants and toddlers. Remain within arms length of them at all times, so they are easily grabbed in an emergency.

Pool Safety Rule #16: Don't swim alone or allow others to swim alone.

Pool Safety Rule #17: Keep CD players, radios, and other electrical devices safely away from the water. Talk to your pool dealer about a ground fault interrupter for added protection in the event of a power surge.

Pool Safety Rule #18: Get out of the pool if you hear thunder.

Move indoors for the duration of the thunderstorm.

Pool Safety Rule #19: Allow swimmers to dive only off the very end of the diving board, not off the sides of the pool. They should always enter feet-first from the side of the pool.

Pool Safety Rule #20: Do not get a false sense of security because you follow all these rules. You should always supervise any swimmers in your pool closely and constantly. <bio>Ralph Winn has over 32 years of experience in the security industry. As a matter of fact, let's not take 'fight club' in the terms of the underground, illegal contests posted so blatantly in some websites. No, actually due to its popularity, some gyms are catering to young boys and girls, forming legal fight clubs all under the supervision of trained adults and disciplining students in the art of fighting. These gyms are in fact filled with eager teens, ready to practice as well as contest in fights.

As such these gyms benefits youngsters greatly and they usually have trained coaches and masters who not only trains the pupils in the art of fighting but also make them aware of the dangers involved in unsupervised combats. It's more of a disciplined area. Some combat master are known to have opened gyms, taking over run down locations, fitting it well with training arenas, lockers and exercise equipments and allowing the young ones to have contest matches under their supervision. Usually the trainings during the weekdays, say after school hours to accommodate the school schedules.

As a matter of fact youngsters seems to be attracted to these fight club gyms; the word 'fight club' itself catching them like a magnet and are really curious and eager about the fighting techniques. Usually these fight club gyms teaches the pupils that fighting is not for fun but is in fact an art. It teaches them not to misuse their talents on ugly brawls out in the streets for no apparent reason but respect the art of fighting. The fight club gym teaches grapple and wrestle and also training in mixed martial arts like jujitsu and kickboxing. The Brazilian jujitsu is a favorite.

One fight club gym in California also has a caged arena, kids love it especially. Though yes, its hexagonal structure surrounded by a flexible chain-link fence is padded protectively. The youngsters have the freedom to punch, jab, kick at each other, grapple for five-minute intervals, and repeatedly slamming against the sides of the cage, shaking the floor. It's actually a no-holds-barred, but being under supervision, the youngsters contest never becomes an all-out brawling as its illegal. Normally the participants in this type of fights involve professionals only.

These fight club gyms are always packed with at least 15 to 20 students every day and it's a great experience for them too. Experts teach them mental toughness and how to master the fear of failure. In fact a reputed international fight club of Saudi Arabia also teaches youngsters on similar principles of fighting. That learning comes either from winning or losing, but one learns more when we lose as we get to learn from mistakes. Also the gyms emphasize the importance of a stable training regimen, thereby encouraging a healthy lifestyle by coaching the club members in nutrition and exercise. Its one great way of disciplining and also teaching the youngsters about fighting! <bio>http://www.FightClubNews.com brings you the 4-1-1 on insider fight club news.
Puppies are just like kits in a variety of ways. They need continuous care, supervision, and a lot of love. Having both together, your kids and your dog, especially during playtime, require constant supervision and a lot of patience. Just how you have to teach your kid how to play with the puppy, its imperative for the puppy to understand that he needs to listen to the kid the same way he listens to you and the other adults in the family.

Always Use The Exact Commands

It is imperative for your kids to use the same commands that you and the rest of the family use. Doing so teaches your kid to use the commands with respect toward the dog. In addition, your puppy will recognize that he needs to be obedient to the kid's commands, thus teaches both to respect one another.

It sounds like it can be a hassle, but it is also a lot of fun. Mixing training and playtime helps to create a closer bond between your kids and your puppy. Allow them run together and then see how fast your kid can command the dog to stop and sit. The dog also has to learn to sit and wait while your kid to throw a toy for your puppy to retrieve. Your kid can also be involved in training the dog how to roll over by rolling in the grass while having the puppy mimic him.

There are a variety of ways you can add in training and fun between your kid and puppy. The following are a few helpful rules to keep in mind:

•	Set up consistency through repetition. Your kid needs to understand that commands that we teach your puppy should be firm and absolute. If your dog doesn't obey the command, the kid should repeat the command until the he does what he is told to do.

•	Never squeeze - hugging your puppy too tight can cause injury.

•	Make sure that you are always be there to supervise playtime, especially if you have a young kid and/or you have a new puppy. This will allow you to easily intercede if things get out of hand.

•	Your puppy should understand who the leader is. If your puppy has an instinct to herd, don't let him herd your kid. This will make the dog think that he is in charge and will not obey your kid's commands.

•	Never allow roughhousing at all. Always discourage violent play at all times. Never allow your kid drag, pull, wrestle, hit, or poke the puppy, even in a playful way. Your puppy may react in a different way and may jump up and bite. Also, never let your puppy jump on your kid. A five year old German Shepherd can easily knock down a six year old kid.

•	Teach your kid to respect the dog, and vice versa. Your kid should learn the right way to treat your puppy, which will actually earn him/her respect and leadership from your puppy.<bio>Written by Kelly Marshall from Oh My Dog Supplies - the largest provider of dog car seat covers online</bio>

Have you ever found yourself wondering about the safety of trampolines? The same as with most other types of exercise, if you don't do it right, or if you misuse the equipment, then you are always giving yourself the risk of an injury. Jumping on a trampoline or rebounding is just the same. If you, or any of your children are already participating in activities such as riding a bicycle, football, or roller skating, then they're already performing activities where there is a potential risk of injury if performed without caution. Riding a bicycle is relatively safe... but dodging in and out of traffic, doing wheelies, or jumping, are not the safest ways to practice it though.

Here are some of basic, but commonly overlooked rules to using trampolines:

On the trampoline, you must only have one person at a time - Certainly, the weight capacity may allow for more than one person to be on at a time, and some manufacturers might even say it is alright for more than one user, but the bottom line is that trampolines are only safe when just ONE person is using it at a time. Think about it this way; if you on the way down when someone else is on the way upwards, then the trampoline bed is coming up towards you. Hitting the bed then, is about the same impact as hitting the ground feet first. And if there are several people bouncing at once, then there is always the risk of banging heads, launching someone off by purely bouncing them, and people landing on top of one another. It should always be one at time, every time.

Always make sure that there is some sort of supervision -- There should always be supervision by an adult, who is also called a "spotter".

Take the proper precautions - Use pads for safety to cover the areas of metal frame around the edges of your trampoline. Crash mats, as they are called, can be used on the areas around the trampoline as well, which will give added security. To prevent falling off the trampoline, safety nets which are specifically designed for the purpose can be used on the outdoor versions.

Remember the various restrictions -- Always, always refer to your trampoline's manual to see what the limitations are on your trampoline. If you knowingly over-burden your trampoline, you will probably break it right away, and can cause the breakage of a bone or two of your own as well. Also, you must beware of putting your trampoline near trees and other over-hanging objects. You might find yourself rather surprised by how high you can bounce, which in turn will allow you to hit them even harder

Performing tricks on the trampoline -- Leave high risk maneuvers and tricks to the professionals who know what they are doing. Trampolines do have professionals, so please let them risk their bodies for our amusement, as they are trained to do so. <bio>You can find more trampolines information at http://www.compare-trampolines.info/ </bio>

Supervision and Safety. Saunas are safe for most people providing one follows a few simple rules. Remain inside no longer than 30 minutes at a time. Rest lying or sitting for 10 minutes afterwards. This allows time to eliminate dead cells and other debris. Drink mineralized water before and after the sauna. Make sure the bowels move regularly, as sauna therapy will increase elimination.

Use the sauna with supervision if you have a chronic condition. If debilitated or very heat-sensitive, begin with a shorter time. The presence of an attendant or friend is also most helpful. Those with multiple sclerosis, hyperthyroidism, hypertension or serious heart conditions should consult a health professional.

Slow metabolizers may use the sauna up to twice a day. Upon arising and at bedtime are excellent if time permits. Evening is probably best if you use it once a day. If ill, however, the morning is better when energy levels are higher. Less often is also acceptable if beginning or to maintain your health. If you are very debilitated, begin with once a week. Work up to daily use as you feel able. Fast metabolizers should use the sauna once or twice a week.

Increase Blood Circulation with Sauna!

Temperature elevation produces an increase in blood flow and dilation directly in capillaries, arterioles and venuies, probably through direct action on their smooth muscles. The release of bradykinin, released as a consequence of sweat-gland activity, also produces increased blood flow and vasodilatation. (see Sauna Detox)

How Often Should I Use the Sauna?

One may use a sauna twice a week to twice a day. If one is very debilitated, begin with once a week. Work up to daily use as one is able. When beginning, many people do not easily sweat. Instead, their bodies overheat and tolerate less time in the sauna. In a few weeks to a few months, as the body acclimates and is more able to regulate its temperature, sweating becomes easier. Also, the more one relaxes, the more one will sweat.

So what are you waiting for? We urge you to find out more about how you too can detox and burn up those stored calories as fast as ever! <bio>The http://www.saunadetox.info is electric, wood or gas fired.
Depending on where you live, a dog fence may be mandatory, and it is always a great idea. You may feel at first with a puppy that you are restricting their movements and making them unhappy, but in reality, you are keeping them safe. You will see as a dog owner that your first responsibility is going to be keeping your dog safe. Dogs that do not have proper fencing or that are not on a leash can get into trouble.

A car or animal that is going by may harm your dog and cause you more pain in the end. Therefore, you should construct the proper fencing for your dog. You should also be aware of the weather. Your dog will need some form of shelter for rain, cold weather or even hot weather so keep this in mind when you are forming the fenced in backyard or tying them to a runner.

Building an Enclosure

In order to build an enclosure you have to understand your dog. Some dogs have the ability to escape by digging or jumping over the fence. If you have a large dog, you will need plenty of backyard and a higher fence. You should also make sure to bury the fencing into the earth to make it more difficult to dig through when you have a smaller dog. You also need to know how you plan to use the fence.

If you are just going to use the fence for when you are home, then you probably do not need something to extravagant. On the other hand, if you are using it for a daily basis rather than keeping your dog cooped up while you are at work you should have something that will really keep them secure while providing them with plenty of space to play.

You might feel horrible for keeping your dog inside a fence all day, but remember it is for their safety. Training your dog to stay can be extremely helpful and should be done, but you have to realize instinct can over come the training you have provided your dog in some instances.

Your dog is an important part of the family so offering the best in safety should be your first priority. You would not set your baby outside without a fence and leave them without supervision whether they understand your command to stay in the yard or not. So do not make the mistake with your puppy or dog.

You do not always have to restrict you dog to the fenced in yard when you are home. You can take your dog for walks or let them play in dog parks, but again this is when you are providing supervision for them and allowing them the exercise they need.

Sometimes, indoor fencing is also a good idea for active dogs. You can purchase gates or barriers that can prevent dogs from entering areas of the house that they should not have access to. This can help keep them out of dangerous areas, especially if your dog is a chewer! <bio>Kelly Marshall is the head writer for Oh My Dog Supplies, which sells upscale dog beds, feeders, and carriers: http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/dog-supplies/dog-beds/ http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/dog-supplies/elevated-dog-feeders/ http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/dog-supplies/dog-carriers/ </bio>

It can happen to you today, over a year or somewhere in the next 10 years but to most of us it will happen at least ones in our lives. We are talking about lower back pain in this article and when you are one of many who already have experienced it one time ore even more times, you know you will do anything to prevent it from happening again. You can divide lower back pain in two types, there is the acute form that will usually last for a few days to a few weeks and there is the chronic lower back pain and this can last months and in some cases even years. The intensity can vary from day to day, with some days the pain can be bearable and some days where the pain is excruciating.

Lower back pain exercises can help you in three ways:

- prevent acute lower back pain from returning

- prevent acute lower back pain from become chronic

- reduce chronic lower back pain

When you want to do some exercises for prevention there are some things you should know first, acute lower back pain is usually caused by muscle strain and overuse, for example doing yard work for a couple of hours can cause this kind of back pain most of the time the day after is the wurst day. The only way to treat this is to take a little rest but not longer than a day or two, avoid positions that exacerbate the pain, use heat or ice, and take a pain killer if you absolutely need to. After that first day of rest you need to start doing some exercises.

With acute lower back pain you can do the exercises on your own but when you have chronic back pain it is wise to learn the exercises under supervision of a physical therapist. Most of the time you can do them on your own after you have the hang of it and even when there is a waiting list for the physical therapist there is a lot you can do without supervision.

When the extreme pain is over and you are able to stand up on your own, it is time to start with some strengthening exercises and gentle stretches, these will not only address your back but also your stomach and legs. All exercise you do should be about strengthening the muscles in the back stomach and legs because when you have strong muscles they are much less sensitive to be strained. And when you have strong leg and stomach muscles these can help your back muscles from overuse and straining. Strong muscles help to keep less strong muscles in place, our body just works better when it has strong muscles. This way the exercises will prevent the back pain from returning and become chronic, it also helps you recover much faster.

You should not let any residual pain keep you from doing exercises, lying in bed will make your muscles only stiffer and you will lose strength and flexibility. In the long run it will make you feel better, if you are a little bit hard for yourself remember the pain will be much greater if you rest to long.

Keep on doing these lower back pain exercises for a couple of weeks or even months after the pain has gone away to prevent it from returning.<bio>Richard Collins knows about back pain first hand. He has seen all kinds of doctors and done all kinds of therapies. On his blog he talks about this subject in more detail ranging from exercises for lower back pain to back pain kidney.</bio>

We can work out to perfect our golf putts by practicing more often. And where else is a more suitable place than in the comforts of home--or the backyard, to be precise. How about converting it into a nice backyard putting green?

Sure, its ever golf enthusiasts dream to have their own putting green and to tell the truth, it's not as hard as it would seem. Simply make that plan for your very own putting green and then do it! Having your own putting green is a simple project that anyone can do and before you know it you will be putting away in the comfort of your very own home. Who knows, you might even take a few strokes off your game and that's worth a little effort, right?

We begin with the site and layout. Analyze our place. Is there heavy traffic outside? Do we need to raise the fence up a bit using mesh wire? Often, all it takes is putt control to remedy the possibility of the golf ball going too far elsewhere. After all, we won't be doing full swings on our backyard putting green. Putt is merely making the ball roll into the hole.

Then we start to clean up. Get rid of poor soil, rocks, lumps, etc. that would hinder the making of a flat and level backyard putting green and growing quality grass. Use a pick and a shovel.

Start laying good soil about an inch thick. Rake it evenly across the ground. We may opt for a bed of sand first before putting the clean soil. Also seriously consider a good drainage. Then, the top soil should be perfectly fine textured and clean soil--not even a speck of dirt found. Contour the backyard putting green to our preference, remembering also that soil settles over time.

Then we come to the irrigation system. This is a sensitive matter that needs expert advice. Get an expert on the matter for supervision or else make sure that we understand backyard putting green maintenance. A tip here is to water the grass at the same hour daily. Quality grass is sensitive.

Remember, also that care for grass on a backyard putting green and care for grass on our front lawn are two very different things. They have different mowing cycles and use different mowers, too. The same with their chemical treatments. It's best to get help from a backyard putting green expert.

Supervision of the putting green is important. We have to know the peculiar needs of the grass type we have placed in our backyard putting green. We have to know its mowing cycles and the kind of tools appropriate for handling the putting green. We should have all the needed equipments for putting green maintenance.

But when we have our backyard putting green already functional its enjoyment will more than outweigh the necessary maintenance work. Just the sight and feel of a backyard putting green are enough for total satisfaction--not to mention the convenient putting practice it affords.<bio>John Grant is a the author for a how to site where he is writing articles about how to build a putting green.</bio>

Sometimes as parents we need to be extremely creative in our discipline. I managed to have a stroke of creative genius when my son was 16 that I want to share with you that helps illustrate a facet of Empowerment Parenting: "The only person whose behavior you can control is your own."

When Kyle turned 16, he wanted to have a birthday party. As an Empowered Parent, I knew my job was to ensure this was a safe party as best I could so I began to ask him my preliminary questions. How many kids was he inviting? Who were they? What activities was he planning? Where did he want to have the party? Was he thinking he'd have any alcohol or drugs at this party? What was his picture of adult supervision?

His answers basically satisfied me. He wanted 16 friends, male and female. (Every birthday, he had a party with the same number of friends as he had candles on the cake--sixteen years-old, sixteen friends. He wanted this to be a camping party and he planned to play paintball and flashlight tag in the woods behind our house. He assured me there would be no drugs or alcohol at this party but when we got to the adult supervision question, he was adamant he didn't need or want any.

I let him know that adult supervision was a non-negotiable. If he wanted a party, then he had to agree to adult supervision. After all, I was going to be responsible for 16 underage teens who were not my own. There was a pond in the woods, bear and other dangerous things. I told him I didn't need to be there the entire time but I would need to check on them periodically to ensure everything was all right.

After complaining and whining that he didn't need supervision and accusing me of being an overprotective mother, he reluctantly agreed to my supervision. He recognized there would be no party without it. I thought all was well until the day of the party.

The sixteen friends I knew turned into over 70 kids. There were caravans of cars coming from town with young people, some of whom I had never seen before. Some of them had already graduated. It didn't take long to find out there was alcohol there when Kyle's best friend from grade school vomited at my feet!

I went around to all the kids I could find and collected their car keys. I confiscated all the alcohol I could find and dumped it out. I never found evidence of drugs. I hid all pain relievers and acid reducers I had in the house so they could experience the natural consequences of their drinking the next day.

After everyone left and it was time to deal with Kyle, I wasn't sure what to do. My first thought was to KILL him but I didn't think that was a very smart idea. I didn't want to spend the rest of my natural born days in prison orange. (Not my color.) So, I went to my fall back position which was grounding. I believed I needed to ground Kyle for allowing his party to get so out of control. He never came to me to ask for help. I knew I couldn't trust him so I thought I should ground him until I could trust him again.

There were several problems with this approach. First of all, grounding your child is often a punishment to yourself because children will make it their mission to make their parents' lives miserable until the grounding is lifted. I didn't want that. The other problem I saw was that it was at least possible that even though I grounded Kyle, he may decide to go out anyway. Then I had to ask myself how far was I prepared to take that? If he went out, would I lock him out? Would I contact the police? Would I simply let him in with no consequence? I really didn't want to have to answer those questions. Another problem is that when a child is grounded for lack of trust, how can he earn that trust back? He isn't placed in any situation to test how trustworthy he actually is. He isn't learning anything. He is only being punished.

My creativity began to kick in. I was able to recognize the main problem. I was attempting to control Kyle's behavior. I can't make anyone do anything he or she doesn't want to do and here I was trying to coerce my 16 year-old child to stay in the house for an indefinite period of time. Knowing the tenants of Inside Out Empowerment, I know the only person whose behavior I can control is my own. Trying to control Kyle at his age in his rebellious state of mind was a recipe for disaster!

In a moment of supreme creativity, I knew what I had to do. I was going to control my behavior instead of his. I still told Kyle I didn't trust him. He stuck to his story that he hadn't invited all those people. I told him I believed him, knowing how news can spread in a small town. However, I didn't trust him because he hadn't come to me when things got out of hand.

Since I didn't trust him, I told him my first thought was to ground him. (No sense telling him I actually wanted to KILL him first!) But I told him I had decided against the grounding. Instead, I wanted him to do anything he wanted to do but since I didn't trust him, I would go along until I believed I could trust him again. If he went to the school dance the next weekend, I would be a chaperone. If he went to the movies with his friends, I would sit in the theater until he was ready to go. If he went out to eat with his friends, I would go along. . .I was even willing to buy! Wherever he went, I would also go.

I knew he would either ground himself because he didn't want to be seen with me or we would spend some great quality time together. Had he chosen the latter, he wouldn't have been mad at me. He wouldn't be grounded because I said so. He was choosing it because he didn't want to be seen with me. The opposite occurred. He and I went everywhere together for the next two weeks. He pretended to hate it but I believe he secretly enjoyed the quality time we were able to spend together.

After two weeks of shadowing him, I told Kyle I was feeling able to trust him again. I reinstated the trust and never had another problem with him. He's almost 23 years-old now.

When you are disciplining your child, are you attempting to control his or her behavior or your own? Is your goal to punish or to teach? If it is to teach, do you think fear and control are good teachers? Did you learn best when afraid or did you simply learn better ways of not getting caught?

If you take the time to be creative enough to think of ways to change your own behavior instead of your child's and you find methods of motivation and inspiration, you will be rewarded with a stronger, healthier relationship with your child and consequently a greater influence over their future growth and development. Isn't that what you ultimately want anyway?<bio>Kim Olver is a life coach and public speaker who has a graduate degree in counseling, is a National Certified Counselor and a licensed professional counselor in two states.
The term leap experience was first coined back in the early 1990s to describe the rapid learning curve that can be achieved by placing a high talent individual into a targeted work assignment. Such a work assignment would be designed to take them out of their comfort zone and beyond their current level of competence. If they succeed in this stretched and challenging environment the learning is rapid and powerful.

The essence of a leap experience is that of throwing the learner in at the deep end which in itself must be regarded as a high risk learning strategy. Would you be comfortable expecting a new driver to learn simply by getting behind the wheel and working out how to drive by trial and error? The risk of course is that they will fail by crashing the vehicle. However, it is also true that a new driver will only become competent by practicing the art of driving.

The compromise solution in the case of learning to drive a car is to have a theory test, a hazard perception test and then to allow the learner to practice under the supervision of an experienced driver and/or a qualified driving instructor. Once they have had sufficient practice and guidance, the new driver will be ready to take and hopefully pass a driving test. Will they be a competent driver as soon as they have passed their driving test? Unlikely!

A new driver will need to practice for many more hours before they would be regarded as competent. In fact, many people would claim that one only learns how to drive after passing one's driving test. Consider driving on motorways, driving in poor weather conditions, anticipating the misdemeanors of other drivers, using a multi-storey car park and so on. These are all mini forms of leap experiences. If the driver has a basic talent for driving, exposure to the relevant driving scenario is likely to give rise to a rapid learning experience.

And so it is with just about any form of learning, although practice makes perfect is somewhat inaccurate. Conveniently, the word LEAP can be broken down into an acronym to pinpoint the process that encompasses experiential learning =96 Learn, Experience, Apply, Perform.

The LEARN element involves providing the individual with the underpinning knowledge and developing or transferring the relevant skills. It is here where one ensures the individual has the appropriate level of talent before exposing them to a leap experience.

During the EXPERIENCE stage we are concerned with providing opportunities for practice. This can either be in safe, supervised or simulated situations or the higher risk option of live and unsupervised practice.

The APPLY stage is an extension of this practice into a wider variety of practical situations, ideally unsupervised. While the lack of supervision at this stage represents a risk, it is likely to be less of an issue if there were a degree of coaching involved at the previous stage.

PERFORM is the end result of a successful learning experience. The individual is able to perform at a competent level, without supervision.

There are of course variations on the theme but essentially LEAP is how people learn best. This provides the foundation and the inspiration behind how we operate at the Experiential Learning Centre. We look to address the knowledge component either in advance of a training course or during the early stages of the programme. The majority of the time is spent on exposing delegates to carefully designed simulations and activities, often with the additional benefit of expert coaching interventions. Towards the end of each training course we then focus their minds on opportunities to apply what has been learned back in the workplace. On returning to work they are able to practice with minimal supervision in order to become a competent performer.

Intuitively, most people would accept that leap experiences and the underpinning LEAP methodology is the right way for people to learn. The problem is for managers to have the time and skill to be able to create the right leap experiences for their staff without risking current performance. Sending a staff member on a training course is often the preferred option but this presents the challenge of transferring what has been learned in the classroom into the workplace. If the manager has the time and the skills to do so, coaching the staff member upon their return to work is an excellent option.

Where time and/or coaching skill is lacking, an experiential training programme provides an excellent alternative. I would go so far as to suggest that a well designed and run experiential training course provides a safe leap experience. That is, the reward of rapid, applied learning without the risks attached to learning in a live work environment. <bio>Simon Cooper is Managing Director of the UK based Experiential Learning Centre http://www.experiential-learning-centre.com </bio>

Are you interested in taking a cruise? If so, you are not alone. Each year a large number of individuals consider vacationing aboard a cruise ship. If you have never been on a cruise ship before, you may be wondering what activities, facilities, and services can be found onboard. The activities found onboard a cruise ship will vary from ship to ship, but many cruise ships have a number of activities and services in common.

Some of the most well-known facilities found on cruise ships are dining halls, restaurants, and cafeterias. Large cruise ships may offer a number of onboard dining facilities. It is important to note that many of these dining facilities are considered upscale restaurants. In addition to a sit-down restaurant, there area usually a number of small eateries located onboard. Elegant dining restaurants are popular among cruisers. To ensure that you are able to enjoy an elegant meal, you are encouraged to schedule a reservation as soon as you board the ship.

Aside from dining facilities, bars and dancehalls are also found on most cruise ships. As with most of the bars and dancehalls found on land, there may be age restrictions in place. If you are traveling with your family, they may have to complete other activities while you enjoy the nightlight over the seas. If this should occur, you are in luck because most cruise ships have daycare centers and other activities geared towards children of all ages.

When it comes to placing your child in the care of a ship's daycare center, you are urged to quickly familiarize yourself with the staff. This familiarization may help to calm your nerves. It is also important to note that cruise ship employees are often closely monitored, highly educated, and properly trained. While it may be difficult at first, you should feel comfortable leaving your child in the care of a cruise ship childcare worker.

Childcare is ideal for smaller children; however, if you are traveling with a teenager, daycare may not be an option. Swimming pools, libraries, video arcades, and movie theaters can often be found on cruise ships. Adult supervision is a policy that prevents children under a certain age from roaming freely around the ship.

Teenagers may be able to visit these facilities without adult supervision. Each cruise ship is likely to have different adult supervision policies. You are encouraged to review these policies before purchasing your tickets.

In addition to the above mentioned bars and dancehalls, gaming halls or casinos can be found on most cruise ships. As with gambling on land, there are age limits on those that can gamble aboard a cruise ship. Popular gambling activities include slots, blackjack, poker, and much more. Many onboard casinos are open for business twenty-four hours a day. Gambling is a popular cruise ship pastime. If you are booking a cruise just to gamble, you may want to further explore the gambling options aboard each ship.

Cruise ship operators know that many travelers take a cruise to escape their daily routines. Unfortunately for some, one routine that cannot be left behind is exercise. That is why almost all cruise ships have onsite fitness centers and fully equipped gyms. These gyms are often similar, and sometimes even better, than the gyms found in your hometown. In addition to a fitness center, a large number of cruise ships have jogging tracks.

If a particular activity or event is the only reason why you are interested in booking a cruise, you are urged to physically check for that event or activity before making your reservation. The above mentioned services, facilities, and activities are found on a number of popular cruise lines. These cruise lines are likely to include, but are not limited to, Carnival Cruise Lines, Paradise Cruises, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity Cruises. With the click of a mouse or a toll free phone call, you can easily determine if your favorite activities can be found aboard the cruise ship of your choice. <bio>Burt Cotton http://www.last-minute-cruises.net </bio>

I think back to the day when my son Keegan was only 18 months and just able to walk. I was sitting watching TV when I heard his little voice say "Ball Dadda". I looked over and there he was with my 15lb bowling ball in his arms. The weight of the ball was about 60% of his bodyweight. At first I was afraid of him hurting himself by dropping it on his foot but the more I looked at him the more I wondered how he got the strength to pick it up. Much to my wife's dismay I took the ball from him and rolled it across the floor for him to pick up again. To Keegan this was a game of rolling the ball with daddy. He would walk over to the ball, performed a squat like you would see a strongman do when picking up 300lb stone boulders and would pick it up and start walking. I knew then this was the making of a strength machine and to this date he is still as strong as a bull...

Every year for the past 4 Christmas's Keegan has asked for weightlifting equipment as a gift. For 3 of them, I like many parents and coaches in America had resisted allowing him to weight train due to his age and the concern that lifting prior to puberty was unhealthy and could cause injury to under developed muscles. Then I started Grapplers Gym and I wanted to provide information to wrestlers and athletes of all ages and this meant gaining as much information on training for all ages even our K-8 kids. What I learned was that with the proper supervision and program design young athletes as young as 7 can weight train and not damage to their bodies.

Much research has been done on this topic and the results show that boys and girls can show a strength increase as a much as 74 percent in only 2 months of training. This is possible because strength development is associated with a variety of neuromuscular factors and does not solely depend on hormone levels (1). Exercises should consist of 13-15 reps for one set and training should be conducted 2-3 times a week. If the child is in an after school sports activity then training should only be conducted twice a week. Weight training should be conducted only under strict supervision of a "trained" coach or parent with slow movements and minimal weight until proper form is demonstrated for reps of 15.

We receive emails each week on this question and we will be doing a series of articles on the topic that will cover everything from program design to proper nutrition, cardiovascular training, and exercise related games.

So to get back to the original questions "Is weight training safe for my child" well the answer is YES <bio>Mike is the owner of Grapplers Gym and http://www.grapplersgym.com. Grapplers Gym is the home for advanced fitness and conditioning for today's combat athletes. Some of the best grapplers in the world turn to Michael and Grappler's gym when looking to take their game to the next level. </bio>

The potential benefits of improved job design are unlikely to be realized, if attention is focused on the content of jobs alone. Equal, if not more important, is the process by which redesign is carried out. This has led to recognition of the importance of management style and, increasingly, of organization culture. Central to improving the quality of working life is a participative, open style of management involving employees in decisions that affect them, including the design or choice of the technology itself. Personnel policies, including those related to pay and benefits, should attempt to develop a relationship of trust among all members and sections of the organization, and a confident partnership approach to trade unions.

Supervision involves technical knowledge, human relations' skills and co-ordination of work activities. Effective supervision is necessary for job satisfaction and high levels of work performance. Kindly and thoughtful leader behavior is likely to generate high worker satisfaction. Supervisors who adopt a considerate manner towards workers tend to have the more highly satisfied work groups. Lack of job satisfaction and unhappiness at work, may also arise from problems connected with managers.

The increasing pace of technological and structural change has made it imperative to address the issues of managing change in ways that would ensure the best outcomes for organizations and for the people in them. An important issue is still the jobs which people are asked to perform. When change is being planned, particularly if new technology is to be introduced, a 'window of opportunity' exists to think about the work that people will do and the design of their jobs. The aim is to ensure that the quality of working life is enhanced rather than undermined.

Concern of the quality of working life has also been supported by government legislation, for example in the areas of employment protection, employee involvement, and health and safety at work. Such legislation directs management attention to the importance of the work environment and the context, in which work is carried out, which in turn can have a direct effect on job satisfaction. Improving job design needs to take account of how people perceive their present tasks and involving them in changes which affect them and their jobs. It involves the ways of thinking about people at work. <bio>Kadence Buchanan writes articles for http://forsocietiessake.com/ - In addition, Kadence also writes articles for http://familyinformationsource.com/ and http://theeducationstop.net/ </bio>
