As a symbol of longevity, amber may have been the first gemlike material used for personal adornment. Beads and pendants of this intriguing substance, the production of fossilized tree sap, have been found in prehistoric burials from as early as 15,000 years before Christ. Amber comes in different colors and is often opaque due to impurities that maxed naturally with the ancient sap. By the Bronze Age, amber was in such demand that it was traded with tin and copper along the major trade routes in the Middle East. The earliest written references to amber are in Homer's Odyssey, from about 700 BC. The Greek word for amber was lektron, from which we get our word electricity, where amber was said to be the "solidified tears of the Helipads mourning the death of their brother".

The tree species that produced amber are now extinct. They included cedars and other conifers and broadleaved trees. The most famous source of the world's amber is the Baltic coast of Russia. In the western hemisphere, there are rich deposits in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the state of New Jersey.

Amber is of interest both for its decorative value and for the ancient, once living inclusions that it preserves. Capable of being highly polished, it is the oldest decorative substance known. It was familiar to Paleolithic peoples and to the Greeks and Romans, who used it extensively in jewelry. Pliny recounts several instances of its artistic uses. Baltic amber also contains succinct acid and is often called succinct. An essential oil, amber oil, is obtained from amber.

Leaves, flowers, insects, and small animals are frequently found in amber. Older fossils trapped in this way often represent the sole specimen of an extinct species. An especially rich bed of amber in New Jersey has yielded over 100 previously unknown extinct cretaceous species dating back as much as 94 million years. Because of ambers preservative qualities, the DNA of the specimens trapped inside is intact, affording scientists a unique opportunity to study the DNA of extinct species. <bio>Large selection of amber pendants with insects at our online antiquities shop.
The resume is something that everyone has heard of, but few people actually know what it is supposed to do.

First off, let me say that it is a part of the job-hunting process that is much misunderstood. Many people think that a resume is nothing more than a list of a job-seeker's qualifications and experience. And a full list at that.

Many job-hunters just write down everything and anything they know or have completed a course in, hoping that the employer will find something appealing in the mass of facts presented. This is a common misunderstanding, and nothing could be further from the truth.

The first rule to remember in any communication to do with business, and especially job-hunting, is to be brief. Take it as read that anyone with a job is busy. Very busy. Especially people working in the personnel department. In the bigger companies they often have hundreds of resumes to plough through. And the last thing they want is to come in the office on Monday morning and be faced with a resume that is half way to being a novel.

So to repeat: be brief. Or as brief as possible.

The whole point of the resume is not to get a job, but to get a foot in the door. In other words: to land an interview. Nothing more.

A resume which gives a succinct taste of the candidate's experience and qualifications is much more likely to succeed in landing the all-important interview than is a resume consisting of pages and pages of irrelevant facts.

And this is where a professional resume writer really comes into his or her own. A professionally written resume will stand a candidate in much better stead than one hastily written by the candidate himself.

A professionally-written resume will take the candidate's experience and put it in the best light for the type of job being applied for. This makes the employer's job much easier, and gives the candidate a sense of focus.

A good resume gives a definite advantage in the ever-competitive job market.

Once the resume is written, of course, there's the interview to cope with. But with a great resume in front of them, that part of the candidate selection process becomes all that much easier, for prospective employer and prospective job candidate alike. <bio>Earl Bestman writes for http://bigsuccessworkshop.com, a resource for those seeking to write a better resume and improve their job hunting skills </bio>

So, you've finally landed that exciting new job that you've always wanted. Your juices are flowing and you're eager to start. Of course, your first priority is to make a good impression with the people that count. Here are a few tips to get you started.

1. Dependability matters The most important impression you want to make is that you are a dependable employee. This can be achieved in a number of ways. Arrive early to work. Deliver what the boss wants.

2. Show the right attitude Don't be one of those people who avoid doing work because 'it's not my job.' It would be better if you took the alternate route and asked your immediate supervisor for more work to do. You should always go the extra mile.

3. Agree on goals with your boss You and your supervisor should agree on the goals that you should achieve in this job. If this is not clear, ask for more guidance. Don't worry about asking because it will tell your boss that you really care about meeting expectations. Of course, this includes setting clear-cut deadlines for your requirements.

4. Update your boss regularly Even if your boss does not follow up on some requirements, tell him or her about developments in advance. Once you've completed something, ask him what he thinks and how he evaluates your performance.

5. Have a good reading of the corporate culture This is tricky for first-time employees, especially if they are fresh graduates. The fact is that each company has its own particular culture and it is up to the new guy or girl on the block to fit in. There is such a thing as political etiquette in the office place so tread carefully.

6. Communicate effectively Whether you're it's oral or written communication, make yourself clear and succinct. Don't try to say too much and keep your comments related to the topic at hand. Take the initiative and look for opportunities to make your own presentations or reports and execute them to the best of your abilities. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://universeofjobs.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://businessworldnow.net/ and http://yourealestatesource.com/ </bio>

If you want to get a LOT more Internet traffic than you are now, without having to do a lot of complicated key word and SEO tricks, then this article will show you how.

Listen to this:

The key to getting a lot of traffic to your website...is audio.

Why?

Because search engines are now starting to pick up what is called ID3 tags.

What are ID3 tags?

Well, you know how when you put a CD in your CD Rom, or if you have a car CD player, and you put it in there and you see the little title of what you're putting in there flash across?

That's an ID3 tag. There's code embedded in the actual mp3 file, and also when people download digital files onto an iPod.

This allows people to sort their music by title, artist and other criteria.

The ID3 Name tag allows you to enter a more descriptive name for your audio file. For example, an audio file that has a name like "myaudio.mp3" can be renamed "How I Made My First Million in Advertising." That's certainly more descriptive than the file name!

You are also able to enter the Artist's Name and Composer. Both of these will probably contain your name as well as the name of your web site, email address, and/or telephone number. Mix up the content between these two fields. In my audios, the Artist's Name field has my name and web site address and the Composer field has my name and my telephone number.

Although its length is limited to a few sentences, get creative and come up with a succinct summary of the audio that includes key words that will get your audio listed higher in Search Engines when someone is looking for content that may be just what your audio contains.

And, when you have an mp3 file up on your website, the search engines start picking it up that information like they do HTML text.

So, imagine if you have twenty or thirty audio recordings on your site, and you've got millions of people searching for whatever it is you sell.

By using audio, in addition to your regular web page content you have now, you have an extra "layer" of content being picked up by the search engines at the same time.

And by having those ID3 tags, and the keywords within, it's going to be easier to dominate your market because the websites can't search the actual audio portion.

All they can go by is what's on the ID3 tags on your files. This is the strategy I do with my own websites with phenomenal results. And it will work for you, too.

The whole key to this is to simply get that audio content up there on your site with the ID3 tags and then let the search engines do the rest.

Copyright 2006 Michael Senoff <bio>For more information go to http://www.hardtofindseminars.com/Audio_Marketing_Secrets.htm </bio>

A successful marketing plan relies heavily on the pulling-power of advertising copy. Writing result-oriented ad copy is difficult, as it must appeal to, entice, and convince consumers to take action. There is no magic formula to write perfect ad copy; it is based on a number of factors, including ad placement, demographic, even the consumer's mood when they see your ad. So how is any writer supposed to pen a stunning piece of advertising copy -- copy that sizzles and sells? The following tips will jumpstart your creative thinking and help you write a better ad.

KNOW THE BASICS

All good advertising copy is comprised of the same basic elements. Good advertising copy always:

Grabs Attention: Consumers are inundated with ads, so it's vital that your ad catches the eye and immediately grabs interest. You could do this with a headline or slogan (such as VW's "Drivers Wanted" campaign), color or layout (Target's new colorful, simple ads are a testimony to this) or illustration (such as the Red Bull characters or Zoloft's depressed ball and his ladybug friend).

Promises Credible Benefit: To feel compelled by an ad, the consumer must stand to gain something; the product is often not enough. What would the consumer gain by using your product or service? This could be tangible, like a free gift; prestige, power or fame. But remember: you must be able to make good on that promise, so don't offer anything unreasonable.

Keeps Interest: Grabbing the consumer's attention isn't enough; you have to keep that attention for at least a few seconds. This is where your benefits come into play or a product description that sets your offer apart from the others.

Generates Action: This is the ultimate point of advertising copy -- it must make the reader react in some way. This doesn't necessarily translate to buying the product immediately or using the service. Your ad could be a positioning tool to enable the reader to think about you in a certain light. Speak to your audience, or the audience you'd like to reach, and you'll be surprised how frequently they come to you in the future.

KNOW THE MEDIUM

How you write your advertising copy will be based on where you will place your ad. If it's a billboard ad, you'll need a super catchy headline and simple design due to the speed at which people will pass. Online ads are similar; consumers are so inundated with Internet advertising that your ad must be quick and catchy. Magazine advertising is the most versatile, but this is solely dependent on the size of your ad and how many other ads compete with yours. If you have a full page ad, feel free to experiment; more page space gives you more creative space. If the ad is tiny, you'll need to keep things as simple as possible.

KNOW THE STYLE

Advertising copy is a unique type of writing. Its point is to balance creativity and readability into something persuasive and entertaining. Keep the following points in mind when you write your copy:

Be Succinct: There are few things more damaging to an ad campaign than messy wordiness. Use short sentences with as many familiar words as possible; save the thesaurus for a thesis or dissertation. Always make sure to use precise phrasing (why use five adjectives when one good action verb would do?); and eliminate any redundancies, such as "little tiny" or "annual payments of $XXX per year."

Talk To Your Audience, Not At Them: Though you are announcing the availability of a product or service, avoid being clinical or overly formal. Write as if you're talking to your ideal customer; use a style they'd use, words they'd be familiar with, slang they'd probably know. But be absolutely certain that you're using these terms and phrases correctly. A recent McDonald's campaign attempted to reach a certain audience by using the phrase "I'd hit it" in reference to a cheeseburger, unaware that the phrase is almost always used as a sexual reference.

Avoid Clichés: It's easy for writers new to advertising copy to fall into this trap, but it's a trap that can severely damage the writing. Clichés fail to ignite the imagination; and consumers so numb to the phrases will often skip right past them, effectively ruining the succinct element of your ad. If you find yourself tempted to use a cliché, think about the message you want to convey with that cliché and try to rephrase it in a more imaginative, personal way.

Always Proofread: It's an obvious point, but you'd be surprised how many ads run in a magazine or on a billboard with an error of some sort. Go through your advertising copy carefully to make sure that every word is spelled correctly, the grammar is impeccable and the punctuation is dead on. Even the best ads can be ruined by a misplaced comma or dangling modifier. Use a program like WhiteSmoke ( http://www.WhiteSmokeSoftware.com ) or StyleWriter ( http://www.StyleWriter-USA.com ) to help you write better. <bio>Brian Konradt has been a professional freelance writer for over ten years.
Despite how great CDs are, many people still prefer audiocassettes to them, especially when it comes to listening to audio books.

Below are some of the reasons why:

One, Audio books in a CD format cannot contain more than 75 minutes of content but audiocassettes can hold as much as 90 whole minutes (and, in many cases much more) of narration.

I agree you can have the entire audio book spread out in several CDs, but not many people like to carry around too many CDs.

So, while you might need just a few audiocassettes for a particular audio book, you will probably need many more CDs for that same audio book.

Two, most people don't like to spend extra cash buying CD audio books when they can get the same audio book cheaper in audiocassettes.

For example, while an unabridged version of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" on 12 audiotapes can be bought for just $31.96 on the Barnes and Noble website, the CD format from Barnes and Noble costs almost double that amount - exactly $55.96 for 17 sets of CDs!

Of course, its not that they want to rip you off - it's simply because it costs much more to produce CDs than it does to produce audiocassettes.

Three, when you turn off your CD player while listening to an audio book, you won't be able to resume from the particular spot you left off. With a cassette, you can begin from the exact same spot you left off.

With CDs it can be frustrating when driving because each time you turn off your car, it would mean restarting the audio book or trying to locate exactly where you stopped.

Of course there are modern and more advanced CD players that can now save your location when you turn off your car, thereby allowing you to resume at the exact same spot you left off.

This won't work when you turn off the car AND take out the CD. But it will work with an audiocassette!

Four, because audio books are mainly just narration, many users don't see why they should spend the extra money to buy CDs because of issues of recording quality when they can get near enough the same quality with audiocassettes.

Their argument is that if it was sound "quality" they wanted, they would go for audio books in CD formats, but sound quality is the same with audiocassettes and CDs when it comes to audio books.

In more succinct terms - "the voice of humans (without drums and other musical paraphernalia) has very little to gain from the depth and clarity that comes with digital recordings in CD format! <bio>Janet Rusky is an upcoming author who runs one of the best audio book stores on the internet where 7000 titles divided in hundreds of categories are available for immediate download. http://best-audiobook-store.com </bio>

Many companies do not have any strategy or they are just in the head of a few people within the company. So if that is the case, does a Home Business owner really need a strategy? To answer this question let=A1=AFs first define what strategy is.

When thinking about strategy think about terms like long term plans and goals. A strategy guides you to a certain aspiration. These do not need to be defined in monetary values. Actually, the mission of a company is rather a short and inspiring description of what it should aim for. When a company knows in which direction it is headed for, the goals are formulated and the strategy turns long term measurable goals into short term goals.

A strategy has many functions. It is used as a form of communication and it gives the company a direction. Without it decisions are made ad hoc and without any purpose in mind other than short term goals.

Having defined what a strategy is does a one-man Home Business really need a strategy? Definitely it has no real value to have a thick book describing the whole strategy of the company. But parts of it could help the Home Business owner. Decisions are made on a daily bases, so a strategy could help taking the right decisions and see if the dream the owner has comes true. Without a strategy a company operates ad hoc, from day to day, without knowing what it wants to achieve in the long term.

A succinct strategy would include at least the following:

1) What should your company be in 5 years =A8C give a short description. 2) Translate the description in a few measurable long term goals. 3) Break down those long term goals into a few steps =A8C these short term goals should also be measurable. 4) Decide a time table what to do and when to reach what goal.

Now that you have a summarized version of a strategy you have a good guideline. But always revisit your plans every year and see if you need to update it. When you notice that you are not reaching your goals, examine why and take corrective action.

With the strategy in place you are more on top of your business and are likely to make better decisions and reach the thing you aimed for. <bio>Robin Zweedijk is the owner of http://eBusiness-Advice.com and writes on a variety of subjects.
Freelance journalism is one of the more hectic forms of freelance writing. If you want to become a successful freelance journalist, you'll need to be comfortable with spending much time hunting down stories, traveling from place to place, and writing under short deadlines. If you enjoy all of that, and if you're interested in some of the best opportunities for personal creativity, then freelance journalism may be for you.

When we talk about freelance journalism, we need to distinguish between two types: newspaper journalism and magazine journalism. As a rule, newspaper journalism involves a much narrower range of subject matter than magazine journalism, significantly shorter articles, and a greater focus on form. Typical newspaper articles follow a hierarchical format: the most pertinent information first, the least pertinent last. For example, an article about a local parade would start with "The X Parade will travel down Main Street at 10:00 Saturday in support of Y," while it might end with "Onlookers are advised to bring umbrellas."

Additionally, writing as a newspaper journalist means that you need the ability to find out about the news. Often, a journalist's day looks like this: the editor assigns the journalist an article topic at 6 AM. By 8 AM, the journalist is making phone calls to various parties related to the topic. For a story on rising gas prices, this may include CEOs of oil companies, local gas station owners, car owners (interviewed on the street or at gas stations), car manufacturers, and local policymakers. Journalists usually interview anyone with a meaningful connection to the topic, and who can provide some good, succinct quotes and information.

Information-gathering goes on for most of the day, usually ending around evening. The journalist then works on the article, fact-checking where appropriate, before submitting it for publication sometime that night, with the deadline depending on the individual paper. Then the journalist is able to go to sleep--until 6 AM rolls around again, and the next article topic comes in.

More leeway is available with the larger "feature" articles. These appear in film sections, lifestyle sections, health sections or other less breaking-news-focused parts of the daily paper. Often newspapers publish these sections weekly, rather than daily, to save on printing costs.

For example, the film section may only appear on Fridays, the food section on Tuesdays, etc. The upshot of this is the freelance journalist has more time to research and to work on an excellent, well-rounded article. Using the same research methods (calling everyone connected to the topic, scheduling interviews, synthesizing succinct points from a large information pool), a feature writer constructs a more in-depth look at a given topic than a news writer can achieve in a short column of text.

Additionally, there's occasionally more freedom in the choice of subject matter. Perhaps you know about an excellent local band in need of a profile? Maybe you volunteer in a community organization that does interesting work and deserves a write-up? How about writing an article on the health benefits of soybeans? A newspaper's "features" section can be an excellent venue and a personal one, which can be rare in freelance writing. Additionally, feature articles don't depend heavily on the hierarchical "news" format, making your job much easier (or harder, if you find it difficult to structure an article without set guidelines.)

Magazine journalism is similar to the "feature" style of newspaper journalism, albeit with much more generous word limits (and often more generous pay rates.) The downside is that a magazine may not have as many opportunities for publishing your work. The broader subject matter of a magazine may also result in topics that require more legwork and potential travel expenses (hopefully paid for by the magazine) than just a profile of a local policymaker. To be an effective magazine writer, you'll need to look much harder for article ideas, but the payoff can be well worth it.

How do you scout out freelance journalism jobs? For newspapers, have some sample articles written, a good working knowledge of style guides (especially Associated Press style), and a willingness to work on whatever is available until the editor or publisher promotes you to working on more enjoyable assignments. For magazines, it's best to research your articles and write them in advance; afterwards you can send query letters to the appropriate editors in hopes of becoming published. In either case, submission information is printed on the staff page of magazines and newspapers. You can also find submission information online at the publications' web sites.

The career of a journalist isn't for everyone. Whereas many freelance writing projects are about a predictable routine of research and writing, the variety and novelty of writing news and feature articles eschews all routine in favor of a constant flurry of ad hoc interviews, phone calls and general information-gathering. But to some people, this is far from a drawback. If you're one of those people, start developing your portfolio now, get in touch with some editors (either by appointment or by query), and prepare yourself for a successful career in freelance journalism. <bio>Brian Konradt is the author of the book, "Freelance Poker Writing: How to Make Money Writing for the Gaming Industry," available at http://www.FreelancePokerWriting.com.
In a succinct piece, the guy who helped build Google's current Blogger program (which I'm using here) and which Google bought from his previous company, offers up andquot;Ten Rules for Web Startups.andquot;

While many of you don't consider yourself a andquot;webandquot; start up, you ARE a business start up, regardless of where you do your business, including one-on-one, on the phone, etc.

The FIRST Rule:

andquot;#1. Be narrow Focus on the smallest possible problem you could solve that would potentially be useful. Most companies start out trying to do too many things, which makes life difficult and turns you into a me-too. Focusing on a small niche has so many advantages: with much less work, you can be the best at what you so. Small things, like a microscopic world, almost always turn out to be bigger than you think when you zoom in. You can much more easily position and market yourself when more focused...This is all so logical and, yet, there's a resistance to focusing. I think it comes from a fear of being trivial. Just remember, if you get to be #1 in your category, but your category is too small, then you can broaden you scope - and you can do it with leverage.andquot; - Evan Williams, founder Odeoandquot;

How does this apply to you?

Say your company has a broad product line, it means FOCUS on ONE FIX you got, that you love madly.

E.g. andquot;I market a product for someone who has achy knees going up and down the stairs, and they don't want to do surgery or drugs, like the way I used to be. Do you know anyone who might like to know about a product like that?andquot;

That's right from the book, andquot; If My Product's So Great, How Come I Can't Sell It?andquot; If you were to focus on this ONE niche - someone who has achy knees going up and down the stairs, and they don't want to do surgery or drugs, like the way I used to be, you could become the king or queen of that niche. YOU could be like the cardiologist - who does only heart work, versus a general practitioner.

Who makes more money - the specialist or the GP? And who would you rather pay the extra money to, if you or a loved one had a heart problem? The specialist or the GP?

Isn't this the same?

And it's like that in regular business, also.

Everyone tries to go after andquot;everyoneandquot; and it has never worked. Focus is hard. You are excluding people. Just like the cardiologist excludes everyone who doesn't have a heart problem to fix.

If people out there come to see you as the andquot;achy knee lady (or guy) for people who don't want surgery or drugs, andquot; you could be queen or king of the niche. And yes, you'd exclude people who have some other problem to fix or other job they need done, that your product helped YOU with.

But at least you get the ones who are like you, where before, you didn't get those either. Just like a cardiologist, who doesn't even look for anyone outside his specialty, to help.

Think? <bio>Kim Klaver is Harvard andamp; Stanford educated.
You may think you know what a unique selling proposition is but how closely have you examined the concept? It is more than the point of difference that your business, product or company may have. It has sometimes been expressed as a unique buying advantage, a unique value proposition or several other ways. But essentially it is an expression of your business or product or service in a single short statement. No matter how it is used, a USP differentiates the business, product or service dramatically from the competition.

It presents a point of view, a promise or a deal that no one else make. Or it can be a benefit applying to just your business, product or service. For instance pay only for parts not for labor. Or free interior design services, pay only discounted prices for home decorating items purchased through us. Or 24 hour auto servicing conducted at your home whenever it suits you. You will not in the preceding examples that your USP has to be succinct and terribly attractive. It must immediately make the prospective customer think of making deal with your business.

There is a bit of reverse psychology at work here. In all three instances above the implication is that the competition is frightfully limited. The implication is that other businesses your competitors charge for labor as well as parts and this makes them really expensive. It implies that interior design services are really expensive and here you get it free and you would have had to pay retail prices for interior design items anyway. It implies that no other auto servicing firm will do this, certainly not on a 24 hour basis. The USP is therefore startlingly different, definitely unique.

Think about it. Why should people buy from you and no one else? More saliently, why should they move from another supplier to you? They are going to need a good reason and the USP gives them just that. Jumping around and shouting Buy from me will achieve nothing. Yet most people do just this. They have no USP to offer. Maybe this is why so many businesses go under before they reach their fifth year of existence. So let your USP spell out your major benefit to the prospect if he or she buys. A good USP could mean your business survival.

So whatever you are selling, think of the greatest benefit it offers. Turn this into a phrase and you will have a USP. Then work on that, test it on friends and family and see which version of your USP gets the most positive response. Just keep on focusing on the unique appeal of your business, services and products and very soon you will have a strong USP. That benefit or promise is going to become the marketing mantra of your product or service. It is an important marketing device.

To sum up, your USP should set you apart by filling an obvious and void in the marketplace of which the buyer may not have thought. Your USP positioning should set you apart from the competition very definitely. It must be strong enough to excite buyers. The USP must convey to prospective buyers what is in it for them if they do business with you. <bio>James Copper is a writer for http://www.marketinglinx.com </bio>

First things first, remember that a cover letter is similar to a tool marketers use to be able to get customers to buy something. Remember that a lot of customers are not into features but actually only consider to buy because of the benefits. It is important therefore for you to make your customer buy into you.

Also, a cover letter is one way for employers to see just how good or bad your communication skills are. Take note that though resumes are proof read and written by other people, the cover letter is seldom not. Make sure that prior to sending out a cover letter, you have been able to check its spelling, grammar, etc.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of sample cover letters available on the internet. Though there are those who take the time out to write their own cover letters, a lot of people still lift a sample cover letter from the internet and use it as their own, word per word. If you are lucky and the prospective employer you sent your resume to do not know the plagiarism you have done then hooray for you.

However, it is always highly advisable to take the serious time and effort to do something right. The fact of the matter is that a cover letter must answer the question of why it is you are applying in the first place and what are the benefits a company would have if they do hire you.

Also, write down the job position you are aiming for. Also, try to briefly explain just why it is you are distinctly interested in such a position. A cover letter must also be able to discuss how well you know the company you are applying for. As much as possible, always keep it brief and succinct.

A cover letter must also be able to cite the reasons of your qualifications for the job you are aiming for. Always highlight job experiences which you think will be relevant to the prospective job you are trying to apply for.

Always cite specific situations as well as examples which showcase your good job-related qualities. Be reminded that no cover letter is ever the same especially if you are planning to send them out to various companies and employers.

It is therefore unnecessary to write a generic, uniform cover letter, much less copy a sample cover letter from the web, and use it with the hopes of getting a positive response. A good cover letter needs to be taken seriously in order that employers will take you seriously.

Basically, a cover letter's purpose is to offer valid evidence that would be able to back up any claims you may have on your skills and abilities.

As a further tip, avoid as much as possible sentences that begin with you or more specifically "I." Always write in the active voice and to avoid telling your credentials using passive voice.

It is a must that you make you as the subject of every sentence. Using active descriptions is necessary as it helps you draw in the attention of your readers, or in this case your prospective employers.

All in all, a good cover letter is one that is made and written by you. It should not be something copied or lifted from a sample cover letter that litters the internet. Though it is not bad to use sample cover letters as an inspiration, it should never be an exact copy of it. It keeps your cover letter from being original and unique. Good luck! <bio>Mario Churchill is the President of CareerJimmy and author of "Amazing Cover Letter Creator." Outfitted below are some of the most dominant and favored homeschooling strategies.

The Charlotte Mason methodology: Charlotte Mason is known as the patriarch of the homeschooling fad. A homeschooler herself, she was passionate in her zeal to create the building blocks for an effective homeschooling manner that is fun and educational at every second of the day. This program concentrates on quite the fundamental topics with emphasis fixed on classical literature, ballads, fine arts, classical music and workmanship. Mason used a range of textbooks from classical literature, which she called 'Matters Books'. Since this manner spurs on the child to have awareness of material, the daughter is read to frequently from the 'Life Books'. Afterward, the kid is commanded to recite what she has heard. This development kick offs at the age of six, and by ten the offspring is expected to write her narrations in her workbook. Following each succinct and interesting task, the daughter is urged to go to identify and etch observations from her self-identity. Thus the juvenile further expands a sense of understanding for her environment. Mason thought that evolvement of good personality and behavior was central to the intact evolvement of the daughter's identity.

The Eclectic Homeschooling: This is a intermingling of various homeschooling strategies. Here, the imaginative parents trust their own good sense and pick out the categories that construct the best course of study for their adolescent. Such dads hour after hour track down the most convenient products that will satisfy the needs of their homeschoolers. Most Eclectic homeschooling core curriculums are ad-lib. This means that the manageable study is ready catered. The parents then conform changes in the general education to adapt to the personal identity needs and concerns of their kids. The boy's gifts, attitude, intellectual acquirement technique and apprehension avow the general studies. Eclectic school calendars contain visits to the museum, libraries and plants. <bio>Carol is involved in Home School Book information and Home School Supply information.
When Greenspan finishes his term as Fed chief, I am one person who surely will miss his succinct use of language to make a point. The use of the term "irrational exuberance" to explain the dotcom bubble, in hindsight, was right on the money. In discussing the current housing boom, he has used the word "froth" to discuss the "relatively exotic mortgages which are of particular concern". While there are no predictions of a dotcom era style bust in real estate, the fact that 20% of new mortgages in 2005 are "interest-only", up from 5% in 2003 is the froth of which Greenspan speaks. Consider a 10% drop in home prices for a moment. With a 10% down payment and an "interest-only" ARM, all equity in the home evaporates, and monthly payments eventually will rise with no principal reduction, because interest rates are rising. Does this sound just a bit frothy or even speculative?

The point is to always remember the cyclical nature of the economy, the stock market, the housing market and life in general. In the economic cycle, we are in the middle of the expansion phase, and within this phase, there are ups and downs. The market will rise and fall during this part of the cycle, but the trajectory should be positive if you think long-term. Housing has been in a boom, since the dotcom bust and could very well be near the top. If you need a house, because it will be your home, shop wisely. If you are looking at real estate as an investment at this juncture, perhaps you could wind up in a situation like the above mentioned scenario.

Here are some facts to consider if you are concerned about the housing market. According to Business Week, "today's housing prices are predicated on an impossible combination: the strong growth in income and asset values of a strong economy, plus the ultra low rates of a weak economy. Either the economy's long-term prospects will get worse, or rates will rise. In either scenario, housing will weaken." We're already seeing interest rates rise, so "perhaps housing is entering a more sober period when it won't be the prime generator of growth." Overall, the feeling is the housing sector will cool off, and areas with more speculative markets will see more depreciation in home values than those which had a more modest increase over the last three years. This has happened before, and it will happen again. This is no new paradigm, it is just "the cycle". <bio>John Kaighn is a Registered Investment Advisor with Jersey Benefits Advisors and writes articles on various business and investment information, ideas and opportunities.
Writing reviews for blogs and websites is a lucrative online business option if you enjoy writing. Everyday new films, books and products are launched. Most of us always wait for a review before actually trying out something new. There are many websites that are dedicated towards providing reviews and comparisons to people and prospective buyers. For example, www.mouthshut.com, www.about.com, etc provide comprehensive reviews of products starting from cameras to tour packages. In fact various websites that sell products or provide online auctions also require reviews for the products on sale.

Although many such sites use the regular visitors and website members to contribute their reviews as personal experiences and are mostly non-paid services, there are websites that actively employ freelance writers to write reviews. While writing reviews seem to be an apparently easy task, it is important to understand that for reviews to be well-received by the audience and to have a loyal follower base for your reviews, your writing must be precise. It is not about thrashing a certain product or just eulogizing it -- it is more about striking the right balance.

Here are some tips that can help you in writing online reviews:

First and foremost, remember that the media of communication that you are using is online. People mostly resort to online content when they are in a hurry and want to catch some information on go. This should dictate your content and your write-up. The key is to keep it succinct and to the point. In this jet age no one has time to read for pages.

Secondly, remember to understand your target audience and modify your language accordingly. If you are writing a review for a high-end digital SLR camera, use the vocabulary that suits the target audience -- professional and serious photographers and do not use words that you may use while writing a food review.

Review is about critically evaluating a product. Very rarely would you come across a product that is perfect or completely useless. So your review should strike the right balance. Point out the positive qualities of the product and remember to highlight the negative points as well, if an. Give the prospective buyer a work-around the negative qualities -- this is called value-addition.

Finally, it is not absolutely necessary that you must try each product before writing a review on it. But what you must do is study the features of each product thoroughly and understand the various functionalities. You must be able to conceptualize how a particular feature of a product may help the buyer and write accordingly. However when it comes it films or food reviews, the suggestion would be to try it before writing a review. Generally readers can also differentiate between a genuine feature and a fake one.

The best part about writing reviews is that if your writing is credible and your audience enjoys your features, you will soon earn a name for yourself which will help you immensely in furthering your business.<bio>Larry McCullough has been marketing and writing on the internet for over 10 years.
This short article is the first in a seven part series called Islam 101. As the name indicates, this series of articles is meant to, Insha Allah, give a brief, succinct overview of some of the basic beliefs of Islam.

So what exactly is Islam? The name itself comes from the root word "salam" which means "peace" in Arabic. "Islam" actually means "submission", which is understood as submission of the human being's will to the will of God. So, a complete definition for the word Islam would be "submission to God in order to obtain peace." And a Muslim, coming from that same root word s-l-m, is a person who submits himself to God in order to obtain peace.

How do we submit ourselves to God? The answer is that it is not easy, it is extremely difficult. To submit yourself to God means putting your own natural human desires on the back shelf when they conflict with God's desires. It means caring more about the next life than this one. It means desiring the intangible good of the hereafter more than the material things of this world. It means conquering our inner pride, loving the things that God loves and hating the things that He hates. It's a tall order for a mere human.

Islam is more than just a religion that one should think about once a week; Islam is an entire way of life. Islam gives guidance for every aspect of a person's life, including what food to eat, what clothes to wear, and how to act as a mother, father, brother, sister and member of society in general. It's all inclusive, or at least it should be. If all people perfectly submitted their wills to God's we would have a near utopian society.

Human beings need structure in their lives, which is observable in day to day activities. There are 5 pillars of Islam which provide that crucial structure to a person's life. These 5 pillars are the foundation of an individual's religion, without them there can be no Islam, but they are only the bare minimum requirements.

The first is the shahada, or the declaration of faith. It is when a person says and believes that there is no deity worth of any type of worship except for God, and that Muhammad is His messenger. The second is the prayer which should be performed a minimum of 5 times each day. The third is zakat which can be thought of as a tax to feed the poor and purify your money. The fourth is fasting for the entire month of Ramadan from sunrise to sunset each day. Last but not least, the fifth is the hajj which is the pilgrimage to Mecca. The hajj should be performed at least once in a person's life if they are able.

There is so much more that can be said on this topic, but we will leave it here until next time. Thank you for reading and God bless! <bio>Laura Cosse' converted to Islam in 1996.
Do you and/or your family currently have a mortgage payment thats due every month or, in some cases, every two weeks Are you satisfied with every aspect of it, from the amount you shell out each month to the customer service benefits offered by your lender If not or even if youre simply curious, why not consider the benefits of taking out a remortgage on your property

As outlined here in this succinct, pertinent article, the advantages to choosing a remortgage are numerous and can be quite lucrative over a period of time:

Remortgage Advantage 1: Lower Interest Rates

This is one of the primary reasons that many individuals and families choose to remortgage their homes, businesses, and vacation properties. After all, interest rates are always fluctuating thanks to our global economies of scale; hence, they can be quite competitive depending upon the market. Consequently, when eager borrowers go to a new lender for a remortgage, they are often offered much lower interest rates, which makes a remortgage profitable in the long run.

Remortgage Advantage 2: Better Relationships with Lender

If youre at all dissatisfied with your current mortgage lender even if you just dont enjoy being treated like a number any more, a remortgage can provide you with the opportunity to get on board with a company that will value your patronage. Many people simply grumble without doing anything at all; but dont allow resentment to build within you Instead, check out a competitors remortgage option as a way of ending a toxic relationship and gaining a positive one.

Remortgage Advantage 3: Debt Consolidation Packages

Many persons and couples who have quite a bit of debt that has piled up over the years use remortgage debt consolidation packages in order to whittle down what they owe or pay off all their creditors so they only have one monthly payment. And financial institutions have become savvier about offering these types of remortgage options, especially with international consumer debt rates at an alltime high.

Remortgage Advantage 4: Receiving Equity Monies

If youve already paid quite a bit of principle on your current mortgage, you have what is known as equity in your property. Therefore, if you remortgage at an amount that is higher than what you presently owe on your mortgage payment, you can actually receive back the cash that youve already paid. Its a nice way to get fast funds for emergencies or sudden debts. You can even use it to purchase a new vehicle or put a down payment on another home.

Remortgage Advantage 5: Simplified Processes

Finally, its become easier and easier thanks to the Internet to get a remortgage that will better fit your lifestyle than your current mortgage does. And the process is so simplified that it can often be completed online=85 and so can your monthly repayments Imagine no checks to write, no stubs to find, and no stamps needed. Its a perfect way to save a little each month on top of what youll already be saving with a remortgage <bio>James Copper is a writer for http://www.anyloans.co.uk/remortgages.php </bio>

Affiliate programs are one of the best money making sources on the internet. And because of this reputation and the inherent queues that soon followed, netizens were suddenly inundated with thousands of affiliate programs, all of them offering you the Rockefeller promise of the century, putting images of rivers of cash flowing ceaselessly towards you. In all honesty, that isn't far from the truth because people are making millions on the internet. What they did was pick the best methods, the best solutions and the best ways to leverage the internet. And if you want to make your fortune using affiliate programs, you need to pick the best, and I will give you the 3 characteristics of the best affiliate programs.

Always look at the longevity of the program and the size of its portfolio. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. However, if it has been around for a long time in an ecosystem which can give life or kill any business in a moment's breath, then you know you have a winner on your hands. Try to look into testimonials and have a feel for the company managing the affiliate network. First hand testimonials are the best earmarks of an affiliate program that has a winning formula.

Now, look at the product and the services that the company has links with. Check with the merchants and have a look at their products. Ask yourself questions like, are you comfortable with the branding, or do you have any idea about the product, and what's the consumer learning curve? At the end of the day, you are an internet consumer as well, and if you yourself have any sort of doubt about the product, then most likely it will have a negative influence on a customer's purchasing decision. Try and find brands that are well known and have an established reputation, this applies to both the product and the individual(s) backing them.

Support. Everyone needs it and a if program provides succinct advice, training that isn't overly long and an infrastructure that gives you support and that little push in the right direction, then you might have struck cyberspace gold. Remember, in any affiliate program, you have a certain amount of investment put in, be it money, trust, hope or ambition. These programs should at least meet you halfway and show you the ropes. This is especially important if you are a new entrant to affiliate marketing and you don't know all its foibles and possibilities.

There you have it. There are other things to look out for of course, but these three, in my eyes, are what makes the characteristics of the best affiliate programs out there. Don't let enthusiasm be your downfall and don't rush in to the first thing you see. Baby steps, especially when you are banking a lot on it. Some people quit their jobs because they believe online businesses will be their road to financial freedom. It is the superhighway to riches, of that I will not doubt. But drive slow first, watch out for the potholes and later on, everything will be on cruise control.<bio> Click Here to get Free Tips on how to make a good online income with the Best Affiliate Programs.
andquot;Day Job Killerandquot; is the macho-sounding name given by Affiliate Project X creator Chris McNeeney to his latest product. Like Affiliate Project X, or andquot;APX,andquot; Day Job Killer is the result of an experiment Chris conducted with 12 individuals handpicked by him to teach how to make money online as an affiliate marketer. As Chris said regarding the APX 12, these individuals were personally andquot;drip fedandquot; and andquot;force fedandquot; the successful marketing techniques employed by him. As in APX, Day Job Killer, or andquot;DJK,andquot; promises to reveal these andquot;secretandquot; ways to succeed as an internet marketer.

Day Job Killer is the result of McNeeney's months-long andquot;personal crusade against the industry, andquot; presumably the internet-marketing industry. Calling himself the andquot;industry party-crasher,andquot; Chris has expressed interest in teaching basic but effective ways for the andquot;little guyandquot; to make money at affiliate marketing online.

In his mailing materials of early 2007 concerning his newest methods at that time - to be taught to the Chosen 12 or andquot;dirty dozen, andquot; as he calls them - Chris stated, andquot; These methods are responsible for $9,000 a day I had recently.andquot; This income, he further remarked, is not from his mailing list but only from pay-per-click or andquot;PPCandquot; advertising.

The test cases that became Day Job Killer revolved around andquot;some very unorthodox, new techniques to generate insane figures, andquot; according to Chris. Calling DJK andquot;even biggerandquot; than APX, Chris also remarked, andquot;Nothing like this has been put out. Ever.andquot; That audacious claim certainly sounds like a bunch of hype. Affiliate Project X was big stuff, but many people thought it was just andquot;rehash, andquot; so what about Day Job Killer? Well, for one thing, whatever was rehash in APX was put in a very original, succinct, comprehensible and precise manner, such that, rehash or not, it worked. One would expect no less, therefore, than the same quality with Day Job Killer.

Providing more details about Day Job Killer, Chris also stated: andquot; The guide is very simply a series of step-by-steps methods that I have copied from six figure affiliates. Four months on the road, building up an understanding beyond Project X....

andquot;I have taken from guys who don't speak at seminars, but do pull in six figures. Expect to hear from a 34-year-old from New York City, and a 'Cali whizz kid.' Let them tell you what they do and how they do it. I met them. Your favorite guru knows some of them - but he won't discuss them....

andquot;Apart from networking with underground affiliates and moneymakers, I have also been listening to what my 14,000 strong network of customers and affiliates have been up to - what works in the trenches. What your problems are and how to solve them.andquot;

Day Job Killer has all the earmarks of a well-created product that lays out simple instructions on following a blueprint for affiliate-marketing success. <bio>Jamie Clarkson has been online since 1995.
When it comes to whether or not you can trust book club recommendations, the answer is a resounding, 'Well, maybe.'

It appears there are two primary means of finding book club recommendations online: (1) those prepared by a book club for its members and potential members and, (2) testimonials from people who've actually read the book and want to share their observations with others.

Statistics show that nearly 65% of book club members read online recommendations, particularly those in the form of testimonials. Therefore, it is only logical that they trust these reviews to be honest and accurate when it comes to actual book selection.

+ Recommendations Posted by Book Clubs

First and foremost, it is important to remember the book club's motivation. This is a business, after all, and their bottom line is to generate income. Obviously, they are not going to write or post a BAD recommendation.

A book club would never say a book is a 'slow read,' or is the author's 'worst work to date.' Instead, a book club recommendation might say that while the novel 'isn't another Moby Dick , it's a good story and a stimulating read.'

Based on these considerations, online book buyers should utilize the tremendous amount of information that is out there on the Web when deciding which review they can trust and what books to add to their libraries.

When evaluating a book club recommendation, a reader should begin with their own set of questions already in place. For example, when choosing a book about gardening, does it cover everything from trees to bulbs? Does it tell you what supplies are essential or what types of fertilizers are best for your region? In other words, is it comprehensive; a 'tool' that you will keep for years?

+ Recommendations/Testimonials from Actual Readers

Whether this type of recommendation is found within a book club site such as Amazon (amazon.com) or Book-of-the-Month Club (bomc.com), it is definitely better than those recommendations prepared simply to promote sales. There are several sites where the truth is told and those making recommendations don't hesitate to include such observations as 'poor character development,' 'strange characters,' or 'I liked his other three novels much better.'

In addition, some of the other things that are usually found in this type of recommendation are a succinct synopsis of the story or contents, a rating system related to the plot, character development, and whether it's worthy of recommendation to a friend. Finally, this type of recommendation almost always gives the book an overall rating. When an A is given in this category, you can count on the fact that this book is truly excellent and worth buying.

+ The Bottom Line

Today, one of the best features of reading online recommendations and coming to trust them is the fact that members and potential members can actually see the book's front and back jacket notes and front and back covers. They can also read actual excerpts from the book.

By evaluating the book itself -- for example, if it's non-fiction, does it have good graphics -- and by taking the time to read several testimonials it may, indeed, be possible to trust book club recommendations. <bio>Vicky Slater is a freelance writer and researcher.
