Get ready for a golden idea that will accelerate your personal success beyond your imagination.

Are you like most of people who may sit with themselves and define their strengths and weaknesses?

And after that you start developing a plan to improve your weaknesses to become a better person.

And while applying your plan, you face a lot of difficulties and you might surrender with the excuse that it is a habit that can't be changed.

If you are like those people, then accept my apology: you are limiting your chances of success and putting yourself in a great struggle.

By following that method you are wasting time and effort and you are far beyond the fast track to ultimate personal success.

Now forget about that method and let me give you the golden idea to accelerate your personal success:

"Focus 80% of your time and energy building and improving your strengths and focus the remaining 20% on improving you weaknesses".

Don't say it is strange because your strengths will become weaknesses if you left them without continuous improvement.

Your strength will decrease fast while your weakness may improve slowly and you will end up being a "middle" person with no unique talent or value.

To be a person of value you have to focus on your uniqueness and special talent. Develop it, improve it, and the most important thing is: use it, use it and use it.

Forget about your weaknesses; no body is perfect. And focus on your strengths. Focus on the unique value you have more than anyone else.

If you do that you will accelerate your personal success and become a person of great value.

Build on your talents and strengths and don't give much attention to your weaknesses. No body is perfect.

Again, here is the golden idea for accelerating personal success:

"Focus 80% of your time and energy building and improving your strengths and focus the remaining 20% on improving you weaknesses".

My friend, you can make a difference.

I believe in you. <bio>(c) Copyright 2006 by Mohamed Tohami: Author, speaker, and mentor helps you live on purpose and achieve your goals.
Why do you settle for less? Why do you accept living an average life?

What a good start!

Here is a fact of life that you must know:

"Most people are living a mediocre life because they are ignorant of who they are."

You've a huge power inside, but your greatest problem has been ignorance of who you are and who you were meant to be. You're limiting your unlimited potential.

There is too much space out there. Don't stay in your cage, living a life of despair and dissatisfaction.

You are so unique and you're here for a purpose. The world needs you. You're crafted for everlasting success. You're magnificent.

You have to know that the foundation of everlasting success is realizing, believing and unleashing your true potential and expressing your uniqueness.

Bring your uniqueness to the world and you will be of tremendous value. Also, don't worry, money will follow!!

Set aside some time today and think of your strengths. Forget about your weaknesses now, because it is the easiest and first thing most people see in themselves.

Be different, look for your strengths and don't tell me that you don't have any strengths. I will not believe you. You were born great and fabulous. If you don't believe me, look at the face of a smiling baby and feel the sheer amount of happiness and hope expressed on his face.

Therefore, look for your strengths and start building upon those. Expand your strengths and work on them. Do things that utilize most of your strengths, and avoid doing things that highlight your weaknesses. Your strengths will take care of your weaknesses as time goes by.

My friend, it is time to learn how powerful you are. It is time to get rid of your ignorance about yourself and your capabilities. Unleash your giant and live a great life that you deserve.

Don't accept mediocrity, conversely, strive for everlasting success.

YOU can make a difference.
Interviews are about putting our best foot forward. Yet, why do interviewers come up with questions like that? (1) Because we are all humans and all have weaknesses; (2) because they want to put us to the test and see how we respond; and (3) because they want to know how we overcome difficulties.

A big part of the job application process is about "reading between the lines" and putting the emphasis at the right place. When a recruiter asks you what your weaknesses are, you can answer by stating your weaknesses or you can answer by "qualifying" your weaknesses. In other words, it's all a matter of perspective.

Following are some suggestions:

1. Choose a weakness that does not go to the core competencies required for the position to which you are applying to (e.g. (1) If you are applying to become an analyst, don't say that you are "disorganized." (2) If you are applying to become a lawyer, don't hint that you have ethical issues or that you are a bad writer.).

2. Focus on how you have improved and mention the steps you have taken to change. This will show that you are pro-active.

3. Discuss how the job to which you are applying to will help you in building your skills set. Be careful here. Don't state it in a way that implies that you may become a burden. Instead, look forward to it as a "challenge."

4. Mention a valuable advice you received that is related to your weakness and elaborate on it.

5. See if there are "good sides" to your weakness (e.g. some strengths drawn to their extremes can become weaknesses, like being "too" perfectionist or "too" demanding -- toned down, however, they are real strengths).

The basic idea is to make your weakness look like a "past" weakness or a "minor" weakness. By the way, the capacity to move forward and improve is actually a good thing. <bio>John Stronack is a writer for WorkBloom ( http://workbloom.com ), an online career resources website (Resume Tips, Cover Letter Tips, and Interview Tips). </bio>

Have you ever lost the sale because the prospect decided to go with your competitor? In the world of business, there will always be other businesses competing with you for your customers.

Is there a way to decrease losing business to the competitor and increase the chances of them choosing you? Absolutely! It starts with knowing, understanding, researching, and learning from your competitors.

Here are 8 steps to help you learn more about your competitors:

1. Identify the company name 2. Names of top executives and sales people 3. What services they do and do not provide 4. How much they charge 5. Who they target their marketing to 6. How they find clients 7. How they position themselves in the marketplace 8. Their strengths and weaknesses.

Invest some time in studying and learning from your top competitors, especially the successful ones. After completing Steps 1-8, you can now identify, create, and offer new ways to present your product that your competitor isn't doing.

This can include offering services they don't offer, creatively packaging your fees and services, providing benefits they don't, ways to better market your services, and positioning your services against their strengths and weaknesses.

Let me say a little bit more about "strengths and weaknesses." The most effective way to learn about your competition in depth, and position yourself against them, is to do what is called a `SWOT" analysis. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

There are many ways to uncover information about your competition for their SWOT analysis. Here are a just a few:

* Search the company website. You'll be surprised how much you can learn about them.

* Call, or have a friend call, as a potential client and interview their sales person.

* Walk into their place of business, or have a friend walk in, and be a potential customer. Observe how they help you and ask questions.

* Ask them to send you their marketing or media kit about their product.

* Sign up for their newsletter or ezine.

* Use Internet search engines to find out information (google.com).

* Look in local newspapers or trade magazines.

* Interview their past clients.

* Use a business website (hoovers.com) to learn about the financial state of the company.

You've now done your research and have enough information about the competitor to create their SWOT analysis.

Every company and person has strengths and weaknesses, including you. It's just as important to know your strengths and weaknesses as it is to know your competitors. You're in a better position to sell against the competition if you have a clear picture of how you compare to them.

The next step is to create your S.W.O.T analysis for your business. Now take both S.W.O.T. analyses and compare them, survey the similarities and differences, and think of new ways to market your business. For example, you may have noticed they offer lower prices. Look for creative ways to repackage your pricing. You could offer a payment plan, lower your prices by removing a service, or offer a special discount for a limited time.

With all the knowledge you've gathered, you now have all the confidence you need to powerfully differentiate yourself and win over the business.

ASSIGNMENT:

* Create a S.W.O.T. analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) for a competitor and do the same for yourself.

* What are 5 ways you could market your services that would take full advantage of your competitor's weaknesses?

(c) All Rights Reserved. <bio>Rochelle Togo-Figa is the creator of the Sales Breakthrough System(TM), a proven step-by-step sales process that helps you close more sales, sign on more clients and make more money with ease.
Men are made for women. It is the reality ever since God made Adam and Eve. But nowadays, it is not that easy to get women. Getting women for some men is an excessive task to do. However men should worry no more because this article is meant for them. Here are five tips on how to get women.

The very first tip is to know yourself. You must know both your strengths and weaknesses. Your weaknesses should be immediately changed into strengths while your strengths should be further improved. Your strengths may be your physical appearance or your personality. Being handsome is not a big issue in getting women. It is because it is undeniable that not all men were bore handsome. Thus, if you know for yourself that you are not that handsome, then at least make yourself look good. In terms of your personality, you should have good humor and communication skills. Women don't want to go out with men who are boring and nonsense.

The second tip on how to get women is to put all your strengths into use. Determining your strengths does not end there. You have to apply what you have just figured out to win the woman you like. You have to use your identified strengths as a weapon in defeating the wooden heart of most women. Ask them if what traits you have which will surely turn off women.

Next, is to know her body language. Indeed, actions speak louder than spoken words. Women are used to utilize their actions just to convey their feelings. If you are aware of women's body language, then it would be much easier for you to determine if the woman you like is already hooked by your presence.

The last tip on how to get women is to have a conversation with the woman you like. Conversation is a one good way on knowing very well the woman of your dreams. Make sure however, that your conversation is not that too serious for it might bore her.
When it comes to purchasing toys for your children, naturally you'll want to find ones that are educational. But it can sometimes take awhile to find the right toys for your child. Each child has different interests, different strengths, and different methods of learning. When purchasing toys for children, there are many factors to keep in mind.

One thing to consider is what your goals are for a particular toy. There are several different kinds of educational toys on the market. There are those that help children to learn, and there are those that help encourage a child's imagination. In addition to keeping in mind your child's strengths, weaknesses, and interests, it is also important to understand which type of toy you'll need.

Questions To Ask When Choosing Toys

So, what are the most important criteria for educational toys for children? Here are some questions to keep in mind:

=95Do you need an educational toy or one that encourages the imagination?

=95Does your child have any weaknesses that you want to correct?

=95What strengths does your child have?

=95Is the toy labeled safe for your child's age?

=95Does the toy have a good reputation? Is it getting good reviews?

=95When speaking to other people who have the toy, does it seem to be working?

A Balanced Collection

In the early years of child development, it is important to achieve a balance between finding toys for your child's strengths, weaknesses, and imagination. This means that you should also have a combination of electronic toys and simple favorites such as the tried and true favorites such as blocks, building sets, dolls and action figures.

Reading Reviews

A great way to make sure the toy you would like to buy actually delivers on its promises is to read reviews. The reviews are written by people who have tested the toys. Or, they may be parents who have observed their children as they were using the toys. You can get reviews from both parents and professional sources. You may also want to check in the forums, newsgroups, and blogs.

Most Important Criteria

So, when it comes to purchasing toys, the most important thing to remember is to buy a collection of toys that will suit a variety of purposes. Imagination and education are the two things to keep in mind. You can choose from new, electronic gadgets to the old favorites. Each of these toys has its own special purpose. It is up to you to figure out exactly what your child needs. <bio>Mastermind Toys Canadian online store features educational toys and childrens toys for learning with a huge selection to choose from for kids of all ages. http://www.mastermindtoys.com/ </bio>

The best way to start your entry to triathlon is by joining mini triathlon. In this way, you avoid over-training yourself that might end up losing your stint in the competition. Still, the mini triathlon is a real triathlon and therefore you must give yourself enough time to prepare for it.

To preparing for mini triathlon, you need to remember 4 words: strengths and weakness, goal, and caution. These 4 will take you to the finish line if not the podium.

Strengths and Weaknesses

We all have strengths and weakness. And recognizing each of them would provide you with the best tool in making it to the mini triathlon. Knowing what are your strengths would mean knowing where to begin your training. They are your blueprints. Admit it, you may be good on swimming but not in running. You might be one hell of a runner but suck on the bike. The thing is: knowing where your strong and weak points are would let you know what to improve and what to keep on improving.

Goal

If you want to cross the finish line in one piece, you need to have a goal. And this would mean drawing up a plan (a realistic plan) that would take you to your goal.

First: Set your goal. In this case your goal is to finish the race in one piece (you may also consider other goals, it's up to you).

Second: Make sure you have identified your strengths and weaknesses. In this way, you know how to keep on track with your plan.

Third: Devise your training schedule. Set schedules when, where, and how you should do it. Give yourself enough time to rest. A good rest will keep your body in tacked at the same time, improving as your training progresses. You may want to consult some expert on this.

And finally: Stick to your plan. Self-explanatory.

Caution

While improving your running, swimming, and biking is a good thing, there is nothing better than making a preventive measure every time you train. You will never know when injuries come but you can prevent them from happening. Take the necessary precaution to avoid ending up injured. Do some stretching before you begin the training. Wear appropriate gears. These include swimwear and shoes. Remember that running shoes are different from cycling shoes so you may want to consider buying at least one pair for each of them.

You should also take gradual training a good rest to keep injuries away. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
Owning a thriving business is a dream for many people. Many small business owners work diligently to create a business that appears clean and well put together. Outward appearances can certainly help a business to thrive, but one thing that is often over looked by many business owners is their own self improvement and how that can affect the business they choose to own.

Your business should be one that you love and is a clear reflection of you and your personality. Finding your strengths and creating a business that runs well on those strengths will help that business to be a success. If you lack in certain areas your business is liable to flounder in those areas as well. There is always an opportunity to improve yourself and in turn improve your business as well.

Areas of your life that can always use improvement and will help your business to be a successful one are the areas of goal setting, and your organizational skills. If you lack either of these two skills your business will suffer greatly and turning it into a thriving business can be a real problem. Thankfully these are both skills that you can easily be learned and you can overcome a deficiency in these areas. When running your own business you need to be able to be well organized so that you can handle all of the last minute details that inevitably come up. Honing these skills will allow you to clean the clutter from your life as well as create a work environment that allows you easy access to all your important information.

Setting goals is an equally important task that a lot of people can have a hard time with. Personal goals are just as important as goals you set for your business. If you have personal goals in place that are attainable you will reach your goals in a time frame that is best for you. If you lack goals in your personal life your business goals may suffer as well.

The business that will thrive the best is one that fits your personality. Finding that business can be tricky, and you will have to be willing to take a look at your strengths and weaknesses. Improving yourself should start by taking a good look at your weaknesses and strengths determining which of those weaknesses can be overcome through learning better how to do them and start working towards that goal. For example if you lack organizational skills, can never seem to pay the bills on time or easily loose things then learning to be more organized would benefit you both personally and in your business. Having a clear cut set of goals, and striving to improve yourself will ultimately make your personal life better and help you create a successful and thriving business. <bio>Jim Biscardi is owner of Dynamic Wealth Systems, LLC and writes on a variety of subjects.
Change is inevitable but that doesn't mean one cannot learn to make something worthwhile of the necessary changes that life presents us with. Careers are great; they keep you on a steady part. When you choose a career, it helps you narrow down your options and helps you build yourself better. But there comes a time in life when you just have to own up to yourself that things are not going right in your chosen career and you may have to consider changing your career path.

Here are the top 5 things to consider when thinking of changing your career path

Fulfillment

No matter how much you are earning in your chosen career, fulfillment must never be undervalued. You need fulfillment in your job to really enjoy the benefits that come with it. A lot of people have changed jobs and careers because of lack of fulfillment and are having the time of their lives today. When you are thinking of a career change, fulfillment must be top on your list of considerations.

Your career is what takes up a lot of your time. You invest in your education and basically guide your life by it. You can't afford not to enjoy it because not enjoying your career is simply not enjoying your life. So when changing your career path you must make sure that what you are opting for gives you more fulfillment than what you presently have.

Required Skills

What are the required skills in the career you are thinking of changing to? It is very important you know you know these. You need to know what you need to get to get what you want. Do you have to go back to school? Will your present skills or education be useful in the new career? You need to really take your time to know whether you will be able to acquire the skills easily or not.

Strengths and Weaknesses

When thinking of changing careers, you must take a critical look at yourself and consider your strengths and weaknesses. Choose a career that accommodates your strengths and weaknesses. One in which you can enjoy being yourself and make money doing it.

Money

While it is important to get fulfillment from your job and career, it is also important you review the financial implications of changing careers. You need to be realistic about your pending career change. Know how much you have to spend to get yourself ready for the change. Know how much money you will need to acquire the necessary skills and or education to enjoy the best of the new career.

Do you have the financial capability to change careers now? Will it be worth it financially, changing careers now? You really need to answer these questions to make the right decision.

Help

In making in a great decision in changing your career path, you may need help. Never hesitate to ask for it. There are specialists in the field, like career counselors, who can help you put everything in perspective and guide you in making the right decision. They also can help you in putting all the above factors to use. <bio>If you are looking for a career change, Trios offers career training and development to fit your lifestyle and help you fulfill your dreams for the future. http://www.trios.com/career/ </bio>

Blissful relationships are a combination of loving expressions and compatibility. If you are going to give your heart to someone then they should, in turn, treat you with love and respect; both in action and word. Of course, relationships are also a matter of compatibility. A relationship is only promising if your companion is loving and your personalities are well matched. He must always be uplifting and constructive towards you and together, you strengthen one another. In essence a blissful romance is full of compliments and complements.

Compliments are a necessity in a healthy relationship. If the relationship is not healthy then you will be unhappy. It is human nature to need compliments. They are uplifting, reassuring, gratifying -- they make us feel good! At the very least, the one person who should help you to feel all these things is the one you share your heart with. He should be someone who is considerate and thoughtful, not hurtful and mindless. If he cannot be respectful and sensitive in words, then he is likely to be inconsiderate in his actions too. The lack of both would leave us feeling miserable and lonely. A blissful relationship does not come from being unappreciated. It comes from being treated with high regard. This is one dynamic of a blissful relationship.

Another critical dynamic of a happy relationship is one that is complementary. A complementary relationship relates to the compatibility of your personalities. Two complementary personalities balance one another. If a relationship is going to be lasting, then you both need to strengthen one another's strengths but also strengthen each other against your weaknesses.

To strengthen each other in your strengths means you should share those characteristics that are the major role players in your life: attributes that define who you are. Why are these strengths? Anything that defines who you are is your life's backbone and motivation. If qualities that define you are not shared by your significant other, then who will be there to support you in those strengths/qualities? You do not want to clash in matters that are the cornerstone of who you are. Thus, a complementary relationship is partly defined by the strengthening of each other's strengths.

The other half of a complementary relationship is strengthening each other against your weaknesses. No one is perfect. But, you also do not share the same weaknesses. If so, the result is one in which you both could succumb to the same pitfalls together. A healthy relationship is not one in which you share the same vulnerabilities or bad habits. Rather, it is having someone by your side, and he vice versa, that is supportive, encouraging, and helpful in overcoming those weaknesses. Ideally, someone who is able to provide such support is one who counteracts any such weakness because that is their strength.

Think of a complementary relationship in this way... compare a relationship to a team, group, or partnership that is successful. It begins with a strong base -- each member of the successful partnership excels at what they individually do. But what also contributes to their success is that each member also excels at what the other(s) do not. What each member brings to the table is their individual strength both to complete it and support it. If all the members only shared the same strengths, there would still leave vulnerabilities. On the other hand, if they only shared the same vulnerabilities then where would the strengths stem from?

Strong romantic relationships are structured in the same manner. Your strong base begins with sharing your strengths (the critical aspects of your character) completed by bringing to the relationship what the other lacks (minor, less critical traits of one's character) that are not defining. This is what constitutes a complementary relationship.

Remember, your blissful romance includes two major components; expressions of love and the compatibility of your personalities. One without the other would leave the relationship void of a critical piece. Bliss is created through feeling loved and appreciated, complete and strengthened. It is a matter of both external expressions and fulfillment within. A blissful romance is full of compliments and complements.<bio>Kim Wiederholt is the author of "Dating a Liar, a Cheater, and a Jerk."
I have ADHD, and if you're a person who has ADD or ADHD, you know that life can be frustrating and hard at times. I mean, we can zone out at very important times or we might have clutter stacked to the ceiling or we forget something really important. Those things happen. But whether you're ADD or not, you're going to have issues and problems, and that's just how life works.

ADD just adds a layer of issues to the ones that linear-thinking people already have. But you can't let those irritations trap you. You need to figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are and make adjustments so that you're working with your strengths and not against them. For instance, I work online and have been very successful. I can hyperfocus on this because I love it and I know that it's making me successful. It's working with my ADD strengths.

I'm a creative person. I can come up with ideas very quickly, but I know I'm not a great finisher. So, I hired a staff of people who coordinate and finish these things for me, and it works! My business is growing and ADD doesn't get in the way at all. In fact, my company has made more than $1 million for a couple of years in a row now and we're growing. The system works out great. I'm the idea person, and though I do some of the work, when I'm bored with it, I move onto something else and the job still gets done.

If you know yourself, you can find a situation like this in which you'll thrive. Decide what it is you love to do and then, concentrate on it. If you're creative, you might want to try being an actor or singer or artist. If you're analytical and like to solve problems, you might want to be a detective or private investigator or even a systems analyst. You might make a great writer, too. The whole thing is to try and find out what you enjoy doing and concentrating on that.

You may be wondering how you figure that out. Well, try keeping a diary. Write down everything you do for two weeks. Highlight the events or activities that you enjoyed most every day, and in a couple of weeks, you should see a pattern begin to appear. If you need a bit longer, just keep writing in your diary until you do figure it all out, but you will. See what your strengths are and avoid the weaknesses.

Here's the thing... ADD doesn't have to slow you down. You can be successful and happy, but you have to figure out what you enjoy the most. You have special talents because of your ADD. You're creative, probably very intelligent, and you think at the speed of light. You just need to figure out what you like and where you abilities shine and then, set to work on them. You'll be amazed at how much this will transform your life. <bio>Tellman Knudson is a certified hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, who has helped many of his clients to cope with the symptoms of ADD.
Life is full of ups and downs and sometimes has a few sideways thrown in too. When things go wrong or don't go as planned, or when something happens to throw us off balance and doubt ourselves it can be tough to deal with. After all, we all want things to go well and to end up as 'winners'. But life will always throw challenges at us, and we can't control everything. Nor should we try. It's not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you that makes the difference. Here are three easy ways that you can always come out on top.

1. Focus on Your Strengths

We're a bunch of contradictions -- sorry to break it to you. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad; sometimes hopeful, sometimes pessimistic; sometimes childish and sometimes mature. We also have a whole load of strengths and weaknesses that affect what we do and how we do it, but tend to put more focus on our weaknesses and not our strengths.

A strength is something that you do consistently well or at a near-perfect level of performance -- it's something you're just able to do, you're hard-wired to do it well and you get an inherent satisfaction from doing it. It could be tackling and solving complex problems, empathising with people, having a lively imagination or being able to make the perfect omelette.

Focusing on what you do well rather than what you're not so good at makes all kinds of sense. When you look at what you're not good at you feel bad about yourself and your ability, but when you focus on and play to your strengths you're guaranteed to get results, and can even eliminate any negative effect your weaknesses might have.

There was a guy I worked with who hated public speaking and recognised that it was one of his weaknesses. He worked as an advertising executive and as he climbed the ladder he found he had to do more and more presentations -- he'd stutter, freeze, forget his point and not perform at his best at all. But when we focused on his strengths we found that he had amazing social skills, an ability to establish great rapport with people in no time at all and had a fantastic sense of humour. Using those strengths he was able to connect easily with each person in his audience, enjoy himself a whole lot more and to deliver presentations that had fun, humour and warmth in them. He used his strengths to overwhelm his weaknesses and went from strength to strength himself.

2. Set Things Up Ahead Of Time

Sure, there will be times when you can just head into something, do brilliantly at it and get the result you were hoping for (normally if you're playing to your strengths), but other times you might blunder forwards, wing it and not get the result you wanted. Whatever challenges or opportunities you're facing you'll stand a much better chance of getting a great result if you set things up to succeed ahead of time.

So what exactly do you want to happen? What solution, outcome or result would be great? Get really clear on the outcome you want from what's facing you and how it would feel to get the outcome you're looking for. Then start breaking it down -- what can you do to set things up so that your desired outcome happens? What needs to be put in place? What will help to make what you want to happen, happen? And to ensure the best outcome, what are you willing to do?

Whatever faces you, it's possible to get the result you want by being crystal clear about the kind of result you want and by putting effort into setting things up so that it happens. Look at this way -- you're infinitely more likely to get your most wanted result by putting time or effort into setting things up ahead of time than if you don't. Your choice.

3. There's No Such Thing as Losing Anyway

What's life all about, really? Getting a good job, getting married, feeling valued, having fun? It's about different things to different people, but to boil it down I think it's about doing the best we can to have, do and be the best for ourselves and those we care about. Sometimes it's a struggle and sometimes it's a joy, but what is constant through it all is our capacity to learn, develop and grow. Humans have an unparalleled ability to learn and adapt, which is exactly why we're able to do the best we can and find ways to have, do and be more.

That's why everything you do takes you one step forwards and it's only by doing one thing, then another and another that the most astounding things in our world came about. As Thomas Edison said while he was on his 207th prototype for the electric light bulb - 'I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.' He's absolutely right -- everything you do that doesn't work out is another tick in another box and another step forwards, because you know one more way not to do something and what not to do next time. You'll never get to 100% without going from 1% to 99% first.

In all that you do, whether it turns out how you wanted it to or not, there's the capacity for learning. That means that it's all part of the process and everything that you do and learn is an important step forwards.

There's no such thing as losing, only learning and growing. So here's to your continued success!" <bio>Steve Errey is one of the UK's most in-demand coaches and specialises in personal growth for thirtysomethings.
You won't win every piece of work you pitch for; it's just not possible...and very time you lose a contract it's going to a competitor. However, you can help prevent this from happening by analysing the competition.

Why analyse competition? How does this help? It allows you to understand why your competitor looked like a more appropriate fit for your perspective clients needs as well as what they are doing that you aren't. To get contracts, you need to understand how you lose them.

You need to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. How are they better than you? Do they have more experience? Do they have existing relationships with the client? Figure exactly out their strengths and then do two things.

Firstly, figure out how to turn their strength into a weakness - find a way to twist a positive aspect into a negative one. For example, are they an older company with more experience? Then emphasize that you are more creative, free-thinking and adaptive.

How are they planning to beat you and other competitors? Ghost their strengths in your proposal and try and downplay their importance to the client, instead emphasising the importance of your unique selling points. Where your competitor is weak emphasise what you can do in those areas. Make sure you explain how you excel above what is normally expected.

The internet makes doing competitor research remarkably easy. You can browse a corporate website or, if using an outsourcing site, you may be able to view previous contract history. If they do any type of advertising, weather offline or on, you can review and research the marketing information they use. It's not hard to find out something about how they position themselves, any legitimate business will do some sort of self promotion that you can find. This knowledge is invaluable to helping you grow and achieve better contracts.

With the Learn to Write Proposals (www.learntowriteproposals.co.uk) Bid Management Toolkit you will find the Competitor Evaluation Matrix to help perform and document your competitive analysis as part of your bid preparation.

Another great idea is to get feedback from previous opportunities you have lost. Quite often, companies will be more than happy to discuss why you ultimately lost out. These opportunities are one of the best ways to understand what the bidder liked in the winners bid and the weaknesses in yours. <bio>James England is a proposal specialist with years of experience in the creation of proposals, proposal strategy as well as bid management and production tools and software.
So, you want to start a home business, but after reading all the statistics about the number of home businesses that fail have you frightened about the prospect of failure. It has often been noted that a failure to plan is a plan to fail and when starting a home business, this is especially true. Understanding the product or service, understanding the available market and understanding your own strengths and weaknesses can take some of the fear out of starting your own home business.

Before starting your own home business, you will need to have a thorough understanding of the product or service you will be offering. Consider if it will be a business based out of your home or one that will be conducted in the home. Many professional services are prime opportunities for home businesses, such as accounting, financial planning and billing, with customers and clients visiting your home business or with you traveling to meet with clients.

Other professional services offer at home business opportunities such as transcription services or billing operations, in which information is emailed to the home and the completed work is electronically returned. There is very little personal contact involved and all transactions are performed through the Internet. Being able to perform the functions without the need for help and advice from others is the most important aspect of taking some of the fear out of starting your own home business.

Before you sell any product or service, you will need an understanding who your customers will be, as well as how to reach them. Leaving your family and friends out of the equation, you should ask to whom you will make the first sale. This may start as a theory about who will need your product or service, but narrowing it down and putting a name to the first customer will take a lot of the apprehension out of starting your home business.

You should then be able to consider where the following customers will come from and this should be part of information you gathered in determining there is a market for your business. When you start to draw up your list of future customers, as the list grows longer the amount of fear you may be feeling about starting your own business will begin to fade.

Simply stating, "I can do this," is not the same as identifying your weaknesses and strengths. Before starting a home business you have to objectively assess your abilities and where the lack of any ability will become a liability to the success of your business. Sometimes it hurts, but being brutally honest with you can save a lot of aggravation in the future. Recognizing weaknesses can help them be overcome and add to the chance of success.

If one of the strengths you list states you are a 'people person' write down what that means. You may surprised that your best efforts are executed when you work alone. Once you have identified your good points and those that need improvement, there should be little terror is starting your own home business. <bio>David Hayes, of http://DrHayes4U.com can help you build residual income with your very own website of a Proven Internet Business featuring automated income streams, to cure your financial woes.... guaranteed!
Since the Sex Discrimination Act came into force in 1976, the gap between the pay of men and women has narrowed marginally. But the rate of progress toward equal opportunities in the workplace which happened in the 70s and 80s has slowed in recent years and, at the current rate, equal pay will take another 50 years.

The wage gap

The figures speak for themselves - women in full-time work typically take home 17 per cent less than their male counterparts, whilst the gap between male and female part-timers is 38.4 per cent.

Women make up just 11 per cent of directors at FTSE 100 companies, 9 per cent of the senior judiciary and 10 per cent of senior police officers, and the lack of equal pay is most obvious amongst the highest earners.

Why don't women have equal pay?

Many equal opportunities campaigners say statistics such as those above prove that the `glass ceiling' remains as real as ever and that sexual discrimination is rife.

Sexual discrimination, though, is only one part of the equation. One major reason for the lack of equal pay is an employment structure designed for and by men. Women tend to have more responsibilities at home and generally are less inclined to commit to the culture of long hours present in many British firms.

But there are strategies women can use to turn the tables and get equal opportunities in the workplace. Having the confidence to ask for what you deserve is crucial =96 If you are a woman in the workplace, here are some ways you can improve your situation and move towards equal pay.

How to get what you deserve:

When it comes to equal opportunities in the workplace, it seems that some women are doing themselves no favours by over-playing their weaknesses, whilst underestimating their strengths, and failing to ask for the pay rises they deserve.

Whilst sexual discrimination is certainly still in existence in some workplaces, in order to get equal pay there are strategies women need to learn from their male counterparts in order to get what they deserve.

1) Aim high

First of all, a psychological barrier exists for women, resulting in a failure to apply for jobs with higher salaries. One study showed that when a firm advertised a senior management role at =A355,000 a year, they did not get one female applicant. When they re-advertised it at =A335,000, they were inundated by women.

In order to gain equal pay and equal opportunities in the workplace, women need to have faith in their own abilities. Women, it seems, are liable to impose a kind of sexual discrimination upon themselves by not aiming highly enough. When you are applying for jobs, make sure you don't rule out positions just because they have a higher salary.

2) Focus on your strengths

Women tend to talk about their weaknesses and worry about being over-promoted, while men trumpet their abilities and ignore their own weaknesses. In order to increase your chances for equal pay, try to develop a healthy confidence in your strengths and make sure to keep others aware of them. Be aware of your weaknesses but don't dwell on them =96 concentrate on your strengths.

3) Ask for what you want

Psychologists say that women in general are offered lower starting salaries, are less likely to negotiate than men and, once in a job, are not as adept at asking for pay rises. If you feel you are being underpaid then you really need to face your fears and have the confidence to ask for what you want. <bio>Iain Mackintosh is the managing director of Simply-Docs (http://www.simply-docs.co.uk/Document.aspx?documentID=1353).
Along with "tell me about yourself," "describe your strengths" is one of the questions that you know you'll be asked in a job interview. At first blush, it sounds like an easy question. But because it's such a broad topic, it can actually be quite difficult to answer well. Below are a few guidelines to help you prepare for and deliver a great response.

• Identify your strengths. You should think very carefully about your personal strengths well before you step foot into your interview. It's not unusual for even the most ambitious professional to be at a loss as to her own strengths. Try viewing resume samples and notice some of the strengths that come across. Do any of those apply to you? Another good source of "strength identification" is to ask your friends and family what they see as your positive attributes. Are you organized? Decisive? Detail-oriented? It's a good bet that these qualities come through at work as well.

• Limit your strengths. Of course you want to impress the hiring manager with your many and varied strengths, but it's a good idea to put a lot of thought into just three or four, rather than make a catch-all list to regurgitate. If you try to sell the fact that your strengths cover every single thing that could possibly arise--ever!--two negative things are likely to happen: your interviewer probably won't believe you, and you won't have enough time to expound upon anything (and, hence, miss the opportunity to lend credibility to your claims).

• Avoid over-used catch phrases. It's tempting to say things like, "I'm a people person" because it sounds like it should be the right answer. But it's far too vague to convey anything other than the fact that you don't know how to interview well.

• Make sure your strengths are transferable. If you're interviewing for a similar position as the one you have now--or with your current company--it'll be fairly easy to describe how your strengths relate to your potential new job. But if you're changing careers or re-entering the work force after an absence, you'll need to be more creative. If you're switching from graphic design to sales, for instance, you can relate how your dedication to on-time delivery and creative customer presentations would be a huge plus in your new job.

• Relate your strengths to the new company or job. It's no secret that candidates need to research the prospective company, as well as the specific job they're after if possible. But you may not realize how valuable that information can be when you're relating your strengths. If you know that the culture of the hiring company is customer-focused, for example, you should make sure to convey that customer service is one of your strengths. The company doesn't care about your strengths in an abstract sense; they want concrete evidence that you can hit the ground running for them.

• Give concrete examples. Too many job seekers begin well with their "strengths" answer, but then stop short of an impressive response by, well, stopping short. Don't just say that you're persistent; back your assertion up with a story about the time you courted a new client for six months to secure a huge deal for your previous firm. Or demonstrate your attention to detail by showing your interviewer a company newsletter that you edited.

• Be prepared for the follow-up. A good interviewer knows that you'll expect questions about your strengths and weaknesses and that, if you're smart, you will have prepared a good answer. So to mix things up a bit, some interviewers ask questions that force you to defend your assertion. If you describe one of your strengths as being able to sell ice to an Eskimo, the hiring manager may pick up a stapler and ask you to demonstrate your no-fail sales technique. The best way to prepare for follow-up questions like this is to make sure that you actually possess the strengths you say you do.<bio>Jason Kay recommends that you learn more job search strategies at JobGoRound.com.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are India's premier management institutes. IIM, not to mention is the deity to CAT aspirants. Last year one is added to the list i.e IIM Shillong which increases the probability of getting into IIM, af course if number of aspirants remain the same; but still this number is very bleak. So what matters the most in this world of competition is how you prepare for this tough and 'smart' exam, yes, smart is the key word because the person who prepares smartly is the winner of this game as there is a famous adage: Don't work hard work smart. So overall I will be discussing about some smart techniques for killing this meow (CAT).

What you need to firstly do is to see where you stand currently i.e what are your strengths and weaknesses, and you can do this by taking one or two mock tests. Never fear if you find that you are weak nearly in every area because converting your weakness to your strength doesn't need more time, it needs smart time. After deciphering your strengths and weaknesses, it's time either to collect the reading material or to join a coaching classes. Many students ask why do we need coaching classes; well then the answer to this question is: coaching institutes will organize your study habit; off course they aren't alchemist who will turn you into gold. But if you are a working official and think that you are a good manager in organising your study time then nothing is better than that. Therefore, organized study is the first main key point to this smart journey of preparation; after all you are going to become a manager so everything should be organized and managed.

Second key point is 'Stick to the Rules'; though the irony is CAT never does but by not sticking to the rules they are checking whether you does. So; make a time table of your study plan and keep it in your pocket or paste it on your notice board of office or home. Time table of every aspirant will be different so keep in mind your weaknesses while making the itinerary. Give more time to your weaknesses and practice as much as you can. Main problem with many students is that they organize their studies for few days, and after that they procrastinate the assigned targets or don't give the required time to their studies. But perseverance and patience are the two traits which every aspirant should have as CAT will check your patience by giving you a whole together a different paper; so you should maintain your calmness and don't get flummoxed.

Third point is to keep track of your performance and your mistakes. After all you are preparing to improve and if you are not tracking your performance then how will you get to know whether you are improving in your weak areas or not. Never repeat your mistakes. Keep your mind fit by eating healthy food and by reading some good novels and newspapers. Good is a subjective term but here what I imply is read those novels or articles in newspapers which you hate reading in normal circumstances; CAT is not good in giving your favorite RC passages. After all for ESLs (English as a Second Language) reading is the strongest tool to hone its English skills.

Lastly, never think that your aim is to clear written exam. You are not preparing for getting a call, you are preparing for getting into IIMs, so participate in GD sessions and keep yourself updated with current affairs. If you haven't join any coaching institute then you can join any public forum online or offline for practicing GD and Interview sessions.

At the end I will summarize my rules:

a) Know your strengths and weaknesses.
b) Organize your studies.
c) Keep track of your performance and mistakes.
d) Read healthy.
e) Keep preparing for GD and Interview.

As it is not in my scope to give you each and every aspect of preparation but I have tried to write some of the key points which I have noticed in every IIM student. So, don't just toil, have some smart oil.<bio>Check out http://www.MBATutes.com for some tips on how to prepare for MBA and understand MBA Basics.</bio>

I hear it all the time from my students and at the seminars and workshops I lead. The writers that I work with are excited to work with a andquot;realandquot; writer. Most people define a andquot;realandquot; writer as one who is published. Therefore I, with three published novels and innumerable newspaper and magazine articles under my belt, certainly qualify.

However, the longer I am involved in the business of professional writing and the teaching of writing the more I question that definition. For me, being a andquot;realandquot; writer is much more about a state of mind rather than a state of being. I believe very strongly that you need to become a real writer before you can become a published writer for I know that while most (if not all) published writers are real writers that the reverse is not necessarily true. I have known many real writers who have not yet been published but I believe they will be some day -- if they just stick with it.

Real writers are made. No one is born to be a writer although many real writers are born with a drive or need to be a writer and this is certainly a help during the difficult times and challenges that all real writers face. A real writer requires five essential tools.

The first, and most important, is a unique writing process. In order to write well and effectively not to mention to grow as a writer, you must develop a writing process. A nonexistent, or inefficient, writing process can greatly hinder your ability to write but a writing process tailored to your unique strengths and weaknesses can make your writing stronger and easier.

The second element goes along with the development of your writing process. This is learning your strengths and weaknesses as a writer. What is the most difficult part of writing for you? What is the easiest? The more you know about your own writing then the better equipped you are to take advantage of the areas where you are strongest and to work on the areas where you are weakest.

Another essential element to becoming a real writer is criticism. Writers need to develop the skills necessary to be critical of their own work and to edit effectively. Most real writers also have a support network in place, such as a critique group or critical reader, to assist with this process. Real writers also need to be readers. Writers must read a variety of authors and types of writing in order to learn more about the language, its structure, and its varied uses. Reading provides inspiration in terms of ideas but also language use and vocabulary. Real writers love language and words and cannot get enough of either. Real writers are readers.

The final essential ingredient for a real writer is a strong work ethic. Real writers practice their craft on a regular basis (usually daily). Some writers only write a few hours a day while others spend many hours writing. The length of time is not as important as a regular writing schedule that is only altered for major holidays or life-threatening illness. Even if you can only carve out an hour a day that is enough time to write a novel if that is your goal. The important part is making your writing a priority and giving your writing muscles a regular workout.

If you want to be a real writer then you must work on these five essential tools of the writing trade: individual writing process, knowledge of strengths and weaknesses, criticism, reading, and work ethic. Once you have mastered these five tools of the trade then you are on the way to becoming a real writer. <bio>Deanna Mascle shares more Writers Resources at http://word-craft.info and in her Writing Journal at http://wordcraftonline.com </bio>

A 360 degree feedback survey is conducted internally within a company or organization. Its purpose is to provide participants (i.e. employees) with peer and manager feedback. This feedback is delivered anonymously and describes a participant's strengths and weaknesses. Like most surveys, the usefulness of a 360 feedback system depends upon its design and execution. Done properly, it can provide valuable insight for an employee into how he is perceived by those who work around him. Done poorly, the feedback delivered can be rendered useless. Below, we'll explore the basics of a 360 degree feedback survey along with the benefits and drawbacks of implementing it.

Basics Of 360 Degree Feedback

Usually, the number of participants in a 360 feedback survey is limited. While having too few participants involved doesn't provide a clear picture into the competencies of an employee, too many can yield confusing (and often, contradictory) data. A small group of a dozen or fewer participants is typically asked to fill out an online survey about their peer. The employee who will eventually receive this feedback is asked to rate himself using the same online survey. His responses are included with those of the "peer group."

Once the survey responses are gathered, they're tabulated and delivered to the target employee. Ideally, the feedback is used by the target employee to pursue further development in areas in which weaknesses have been identified.

Benefits Of Using 360

The 360 degree feedback system is useful for the recipient (the target employee) in identifying how his peers perceive his abilities. Often, an employee's weaknesses aren't obvious to that person. By noting the perception of others, such weaknesses can be identified. Once identified, they can be resolved with further training and development. This encourages a level of perpetual improvement.

Another benefit of this survey model is that employees are often uncomfortable delivering constructive feedback to their peers. The 360 system allows them to deliver useful feedback confidentially. This provides a valuable opportunity for peers to share their insight with others without having to worry about an emotional reaction.

Potential Drawbacks Of 360

One of the main problems with a 360 feedback survey is the anonymity with which the feedback is delivered (this anonymity is also a benefit, as described above). When the target employee receives the feedback from his peers, he may want to gain further understanding or clarification. In this case, that's not possible given the confidentiality of a 360 system.

Another drawback to using the 360 survey is the possibility of office politics having an impact on the results. Peer responses may be geared to make the target employee look better or worse than is justified. Alternatively, a group of feedback recipients could conspire to make each person in the group look better by providing responses to the 360 survey that rate them highly. When either of these circumstances happen, the data is useless.

Creating A 360 Degree Feedback Survey

You should use questions on your 360 survey that blend both quantitative and qualitative data. While numeric responses are easy to analyze and can provide a quick glimpse into the strengths and weaknesses of the target employee, the qualitative questions can be valuable for isolating particular issues. Also, train those who are participating in the 360 feedback survey to provide responses that are clear, concise and unbiased.

While there are potential pitfalls to deploying a 360 degree feedback system, they can be valuable. If implemented properly, they're an effective way for feedback recipients to recognize areas in which they could improve their skills, knowledge, or attitude. Consider using the 360 system to encourage an environment of consistent improvement amongst your employees.<bio>SurveyGizmo is a leading provider of online survey software, check them out on the web for more great ways to use surveys to enhance your business.</bio>

It can happen when your body and mind get so much stress from working too hard, feeling unappreciated and concerned about job security, getting confused about expectation and priorities, etc.

In such conditions, you may get very sad, angry, lack of interest and motivation. That can lead you to unhappiness and depression, and in the end, it possibly threatens your health, your job, and jeopardizes your relationship with colleagues and family.

If you are experiencing burnout, what can you do to cope with it? Here are some ways:

1. Take care of your body - Eat right, sleep well, do exercise and see doctor if you feel burnout. If you can take care of your physical health, it will reduce your burnout.

2. Do your favorite things - Make a schedule for spoiling yourself in a day, week or month. Reading favorite books or doing your hobbies is like "recharging your batteries" after going through a difficult period.

3. Talk with others - Communicate with others who will listen and understand you, but not judge you. Talking with others like that will ease your emotion and you are practicing healthy communication. Be sure to let your emotion out in healthy and productive ways.

4. Make realistic targets - Setting targets for your life will give you a real sense of purpose. Make personal targets divided into short and long terms and set up a plan to achieve the targets. To learn and reach new targets will ease your burnout.

5. Enhance your relationship - Getting closer to your partner, children, friends and other people you can count on will help restore your energy. It can ease your burnout, as you will not feel underappreciated

6. Understand your strengths and weaknesses - Knowing your strengths and weaknesses can help you learn better ways to deal with day-to-day stress. Your can avoid stress once you recognize the cause. <bio>Riana Lance writes about health in some publications. Twice a week she informs her health tips and knowledge in a newsletter.
