eBay has become the hotspot for people to sell strange items. Over the past few years, where eBay has grown from a virtually unknown web site to the leading online auction marketplace in the world, some very odd items and services have been offered up for auction on the site. Strangely enough, many of these strange items have sold for thousands even tens of thousands dollars. A few of these items have sold for six or seven figures as well. eBay does have a policy that it takes down any auctions that it sees as not legitimate, but still, it allows many of these strange auctions to take place. In fact, these strange auctions have become part of the culture in America as they appear in Late Night Television shows, comedic sketches, and in thousands of websites and Internet blogs.

The most recent strange auction that was covered on a National scale and fetched a very high price was when a mother found an old lunch box with a cheese sandwich more than a decade old on which mold had formed in the shape of the face of Virgin Mary. The item was put on eBay and sold for $28,000. That's right, an old moldy sandwich with the shape of a religious figure fetched $28,000 on eBay. Many people have offered other strange services like becoming a fan of a certain team, while others have sold themselves for a week or attempted to sell their families (I am not making any of this up. Some people really do go to far lengths to make some money.)

I always find it very interesting when some item that many would disregard as worthless fetches thousands of dollars. It is truly mind boggling. Each day, tens of thousands of items are placed on eBay and as of late, it is a growing trend to try and sell all the worthless junk you can imagine on the web site, buy spinning the sales pitch to make the item sound one of a kind or very rare and valuable.

Some of the more recent items that were placed on the web site include a x-ray of the stomach of a duck which seems to have an alien inside (sold for the whopping price of $9,600), a French fry in the shape of the Nike logo, and a guy willing to bang his head on a door until he was unconscious for a certain sum of money.

Just note, if you are planning on selling a strange item on eBay, it will not automatically make you thousands, the market is now becoming saturated and many auctions do not sell. The more strange and shocking your auction is, the better chance it has of being sold on eBay.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are thousands of other very, very strange eBay auctions going on right now and hundreds more are added daily. Use our eBay product search engine to find some of the strangest items ever sold on eBay. Just type in the term for an item you wouldn't expect to be sold over the Internet, like "hot dog", and see what you get. <bio>Mikel Beck is the owner of http://www.ListedWrong.com, which is a search engine that allows you to search eBay for listings that have misspellings.
Many people believe that cats have their own agenda and don't pay much mind to their owners =96 as long as you give them plenty of food, water, toys and clean litter, that is. The truth is that while cats can surely behave in odd manners at times, making people laugh =96 and scratch heads at times, even. However, even though cat behavior may be somewhat confusing at times, here are some tips to help you learn more.

1. Cats enjoy playing. They like people to play with them, and they like to play with toys, especially string. They will pounce when playing, this is normal, so if you try to stop this behavior, your cat may turn negative and break things.

2. Cats like to push their heads into objects when possible, like couch and table legs, television stands, etc., sometimes people =96 like your house guests.

And when the cat rubs his head against this person, he or she (the cat) may put a touch of saliva on the person, too, because in a cat's mind, he owns what he puts his saliva on.

3. Indoor cats enjoy spending a lot of time lying near a sunny window. While lying in this comfortable spot, the cat may make some very strange noises or incur some strange movements. But don't worry. The cat is basically acting out some natural hunting instincts. You see, regardless of whether another cat or some other animal, person or object outside of the window is moving around, the cat may see it and choose to go right into his natural hunting instinct mode.

The longer you are around cats or even own your cat, the more odd behaviors you will most probably spot or see him or her exhibit. Even though cats may behave in strange ways, they almost always have a reason for behaving the way they do. So if you take the time to learn more and to understand why your cat behaves like he does, you should hopefully have less or no problems in helping keep him or her happy and healthy.

Tip

If you just pay a little more attention to your cat and the way he or she behaves at times =96 you should be able to understand the behaviors better than ever before.
Every market goes through trading cycles. There is no exception to this. Be it the Stock Market, The Futures or the Forex market. They all go through different phases. In this brief article, I wish to point out the different phases in the Forex market, identifying which, will help the trader know when to stay in the market and when to stay out.

Range Days: Historically, it has been seen that nearly 80% of the time, the market stays in a range. Range days are when the currency stays at a certain price limit and trades within it. For example, on a typical range day, the GBPUSD will stay within a low of 1.9600 to a high of 1.9675. This maybe the case for a day or, at times continue the whole week before a breakout appears. This is also called as and#8220;Calm before a Stormand#8221;.

Rally Days: Again, historical studies have proved that the market rallies only about 20% of the time and when it does, it creates new trends and levels. Rally days usually happen when price breaks out of the range and establishes a new high or low.

Strange Days: Strange days are those days when the market hardly moves at all. It is as if the financial world is on a vacation and simply not interested in trading. This is a rare phenomenon, yet is one of the phases of the market. Usually, when a market is well below the usual daily range, it is classified as Strange Days.

Here is a bit of statistics to help understand the market phases better. I have listed below, the 4 major pairs and their daily average range.

GBPUSD - 122 pips Daily Range

EURUSD and#8211; 84 pips Daily Range

USDCHF and#8211; 96 pips Daily Range

USDJPY and#8211; 78 pips Daily Range

In the above examples, when a pair falls below the daily movement, it is considered to be ranging and when it is way below it, it is considered to have entered the unknown land. If analyzed over a week, Range days occur at least 3 times a week. Generally 70-80% of the Mondays are ranging days.

Similarly, Rally days occur when price is above the normal daily range and happens only about 20% of the time in a week. The best day in the week is Tuesday, followed by Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday, historically has had the best rally days.

Again, strange days occur less than often, and when price stays well below the range and when there is little movement. They happen, once or twice a month and are times when one should stay out of the market.

Lastly, I should add that the best days to trade are Tuesday and Wednesday followed by Thursday and the days to avoid trading are Monday and Friday. <bio>Althaf Ahmed has been trading the forex market for 2 years.
You've heard of people who have pet dogs, pet cats and people who also have pet birds. If you go out on a limb you might even find that you've either heard of, or know of, people who have pet spiders, iguanas, and pet snakes. But have you heard of people who have pet turtles?

You might have, and be wondering what's so strange in that, after all your college roommate had a pet cockroach. Then there was that guy who had a pet frog. Really none of these are strange in and of themselves because different people are drawn to different things, but I still found it strange when I heard that some people had pet turtles.

I was intrigued and went down to my pet store to find out what about these little creatures was so fascinating. Absolutely nothing. The one that I saw did absolutely nothing for the half hour that I spent staring at it. A pet store clerk wandering over to me asked me if there was anything that I needed. I smiled and shook my head. I certainly didn't want one of those!

The clerk sidled closer and asked again if I didn't need anything. Probably he was wondering what I had been doing for half an hour in the pet store staring at a turtle if I didn't want anything. The light finally dawned on me and I lifted my head from my intense contemplation of the pet turtles in their display cabinets and gave the clerk a sheepish smile.

Telling him the reason that had led me here in the first place I waited for him to give a look of superiority which would firmly put me in my place, but I was to be pleasantly surprised. The clerk gave me a grin and told me quite frankly that at first he hadn't been able to understand either why people took for their pet turtles.

Then he took me over to a side case that wasn't as visible to the whole room and indicated that I should bend down, which I obligingly did. Imagine my astonishment when I was confronted by a large confined area in which there was a big turtle. This chap, as the clerk told me, had been abandoned after its owner had passed away a short while ago. The family had brought it over here because they knew the owner and knew that he could be trusted to look after it.

This then was why people bought pet turtles. The sheer majesty of the creature awed me, and I was struck speechless. This fellow had been around for a lot longer than even I had been. I now understood the compelling pull that made people to get pet turtles. There was nothing in a dog or cat, to beat the turtle. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://myaroma.blogspot.com </bio>

Mention the word shoes and you automatically think of women. Over the past decade or so, shoes have become a major obsession for many women. For some reasons unknown to most men, women simply cannot walk past a shoe shop without stopping to have a 'look'. That look usually escalates into a purchase and this phase can continue until the woman simply has no money left. So what is it that makes women obsess so much about shoes?

Why 80 Pairs of Shoes Will Never Be Enough!

The reason women buy so many different shoes, is because there are so many different shoes to choose from! How can you possible tell which pair of shoes will go with which outfit? Our wardrobes change all the time and whilst one pair of shoes may go with one outfit, they may not necessarily go with another one. So, by buying different types of shoes, we are simply making sure that we have at least one pair of shoes to match each and every outfit that we own.

Should We Worry About This Never Ending Addiction?

As strange as it may seem to some people, collecting shoes is fun for many women. If it makes them happy who is anyone else to judge? Every single person is different. Some people collect handbags, others collect cuddly teddy bears, and some people collect shoes. That is just the way it is! It is not like the people who collect shoes are going out and beating someone with them, they are simply spending their own money on something which they adore, so as strange as it may be, it is a harmless addiction.

Overall, some women are never going to get over their shoe addiction. As long as there are millions of pairs to choose from, there will always be someone willing to buy them all. <bio>http://www.shoescomplete.com a website packed with information on wide shoes for women and womens dress shoes </bio>

Every puppy must, eventually, be taught to depend upon something besides milk for his dog food. This process is called weaning and constitutes the changing of a pup's diet from liquid to solid. Most dog owners consider weaning to be that instant in time when one takes a pup from his mother. But the fact is that weaning actually takes place both before and after a pup is separated from his mother.

During that time his digestive system is learning to digest the dog foods he will be eating for the rest of his life. Just like all learning experiences, the steps of weaning must be taken slowly or the pup's digestive system will rebel, and "hurry diarrhea" or dysentery will be the result.

An improperly weaned puppy often finds himself with nothing but strange dog food to eat, strange people pawing over it, and a strange environment surrounding it. As a result of this physical and psychological trauma, he will likely develop dog anorexia. As the puppy adjusts emotionally to his new environment, dog anorexia is followed by an enormous hunger. The hunger becomes so great that he will even eat the strange dog food that he has not learned to digest yet. If he is allowed to eat such a diet, the pup begins to suffer from alternating bouts of diarrhea and constipation. These constant bouts with diarrhea and constipation lead to poor dog food absorption and injury to the lining of the intestines.

Finally, the degenerative changes progress through the entire wall of the intestines. The intestines become sluggish and may stop their movement altogether. Ultimately, there is a disappearance of the intestinal lining. The intestinal wall may become as thin as tissue paper. The pup then rapidly becomes emaciated and dehydrated. He will eventually die unless proper remedial actions are taken immediately.

The secret to preventing hurry diarrhea is a full understanding of what it is. The "hurry" is used because the dog owner tried to push the puppy too fast with a dog food his intestinal tract was not yet ready for. Dog Food which might be perfectly suitable for an adult dog was fed too soon to a puppy that has just been weaned.

When you have gotten in too big a hurry and hurry diarrhea occurs, you need to back up and start all over again. Return to the bland, simply digested dog foods that should be fed to a pup just learning to eat solid dog food, and then train his intestine to handle each new dog food in succession. At the same time, you must contend with an irritated, perhaps diseased intestine, which complicates your efforts considerably. There is no fast cure for hurry diarrhea. What your puppy needs is a little slow and easy treatment as well as a patient owner. <bio>John Mailer has written many articles about dogs and puppies and how to train them. His main business is as an internet marketer. http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/dognutritionfood.html http://www.howtostartonlinehomebusiness.com </bio>

Yes, it's a new technology. If you are of average intelligence and have average memory remembering the technology is easy. T E G A T O.

T is for Thinking. Before you start any project, or any thing you want to accomplish, you have to think about it, but what I'm asking is to think from it, and do the equation backwards, of how you are going to accomplish your desire.

E is for Energy. Everything you do requires energy and you can have it by sleeping well, eating healthy balanced meals, drink lots of water, and have an exercise routine you do everyday. All of this will help you deal with stress and give you the energy needed to do what you needs to be done.

G is for Goals. If you don't know where your going how will you get there. It's very important to have and set goals. Goals keep you motivated and on track. Have your goals written and review them at least twice a day.

A is for Action. If you don't take action and do what has to be done, than you are still a dreamer. You must take action even if you don't feel like it, even if you are afraid, you must do the action.

T is for Time. Time is the most important asset you posses, believe it or not. It's best to manage your time into 30 minute increments if you need more time to do an activity than add another 30 minutes. Here's a question to be asking your self all the time "What is the highest and best use of my time right now?". When you are about to set out on your project all ways to how much time it will take, at least guess how much time each activity will take and stick to it, if possible. Time is so important, that you should be able to keep track of time without a watch, it should be in your head.

O is for Obstacles. You must do whatever it takes to get your goal accomplished. If you have to jump over, go under, go through, go around, climb over, or blast though your obstacle or obstacles, and no matter how many times you've accomplished a goal you will always be faced with obstacles, if you can do this than you are an unstoppable force. <bio>Creator of Secrets of Tycoon Millionaires, and now The Five Minute Billionaire.
There is a strange children's illness with an equally strange name -- Fifth Disease. It is so named because there are five common children's diseases which have rashes and are contagious. This disease is listed by the medical profession as the fifth because it is the least serious and least bothersome.

The medical name is erythema infectiosum but it is hardly ever used. Erythema infectiosum is caused by a parvovirus. The incubation time is from four to fourteen days after exposure to the virus.

Although it is not serious, it is very contagious. It tends to resurge in epidemic proportions in various communities from time to time and entire schools have been closed due to an outbreak of this disease.

The one and only symptom is a rash. This appears first on the cheeks and children just look as though they have been slapped across the face. The rash is fine and has a lacy appearance. The color is pink to red. It starts on the face and then spreads to the backs of arms and legs and finally to the rest of the body. Unlike other rashes, there is no itching or discomfort other than not being happy with one's appearance.

Since it tends to come and go, you may see it one moment and then not see it the next. It can keep recurring for days or weeks. For example, it may go away and then return after exposure to a hot bath or shower. However the facial rash usually disappears in four days and the rash on the arms and legs fades away within three to seven days. There is nothing one can do to accelerate the process. Topical applications of creams or ointments have no effect.

The Fifth Disease has no complications. As there is no itching, pain or discomfort, no treatment is required. You do not need to place any restrictions on your child's activities.

What is important however, is to make sure that the rash is the Fifth Disease and not something else. The only symptom should be the 'slapped cheek' appearance. Your child should not feel tired or lethargic and there should be no fever at all. The rash should not appear on the palms or soles of the feet.

If your child has a fever or if the rash does not follow the pattern described above, then there could be another problem. The doctor will not prescribe any medication nor make any laboratory tests unless another problem is suspected. The doctor will advise you to watch carefully for other signs such as fever.

In spite of the fact that Fifth Disease is not serious, it is not wise for a pregnant woman to be exposed to this disease. If your child does have it, and you, or anyone your child is near happens to be pregnant, you or they need to consult a doctor.

You also need to continue to watch your child closely and to take a temperature reading daily to be sure that the diagnosis is correct. Many doctors have problems distinguishing this rash from others.<bio>Drug and Alcohol Treatment with Right Step Alcohol and Drug Treatment Rehab Centers</bio>

Dogs and kids can live together harmoniously, if the situation is properly understood and carefully handled.Friendships between dogs and kids are both wonderful and character building for the children.

Most dog bites inflicted on kids are by the family pet, or a neighbours dog. It is not that the dog is aggressive, it is just that Mums and Dads do not understand that children, and particularly babies, act very differently to adults, and it is this unusual behaviour that upsets the dogs.

My own children were brought up with German Shepherds, supposedly well know as aggressive dogs. The dogs were fairly anti-social to strangers but to the family they were totally trust worthy. I like to think that it was because I taught the kids to behave properly around and towards the dogs.

When dogs and kids are living together it is the kids that need to be taught to treat all dogs with the greatest respect, and to understand that dogs are not toys. As soon as babies are crawling they need to be told to be kind to the family dog. Puppies are never too young to learn, neither are babies. If you have just acquired a new puppy do not let it chew you or play nip, good training for when it is a fully grown dog.

Dogs protect all things that they care about, whether that be the house, their diner, the car, their bed, kids have to understand to leave dogs alone at certain times or certain places. Some dogs are, by nature, herding dogs, so these may chase a child if it runs away. This could excite the dog to attack.

Some dogs would get defensive if they are cornered or have some one standing over them. Kids should be taught to not scream, cuddle the dog tightly or pinch them. It should be remembered that as a dog gets older it could become less tolerant, so the family dog that has always been so good with the kids suddenly nips a child. Old dog get deaf so cannot hear a child approaching, so may nip out of surprise. It is not the dog's fault!

Kids need to be told to never approach a strange dog, without asking permission. If the dog is out without it's owner leave it alone.

To always approach in a steady quiet manor.

No teasing, yelling, hugging, pinching, pulling or chasing.

Always leave mothers with young alone.

Never try to stop a dogfight!

If you are approached by a strange dog, stand still; let the dog sniff you, no wriggling fingers, put them in your pocket if you have one.

Do not stare at the dog, and never run away.

If the dog is barking or growling, slowly walk away, keeping the dog in view.

Be sure your kids understand the difference between your own dog and a strange dog.

It is wise to never leave a baby or very young children alone together, no matter how well you think you know the dog.

This all sounds a little forbidding but dogs and kids really can have lots of fun together. <bio>I have owned dogs for 42 years. Learning to train from my mother who trained to county level. Over the years I have found that the old ways of training are not always the best, that praise is the best form of training, and the younger the dog, the easier it is to train. http://www.dogtrainingproblems.biz </bio>

Looking for a new and exciting way to spice up the bathroom? Why not have a stylish bath screen installed? Unlike shower curtains, bath screens transform the everyday ho-hum bath and shower into an high-tech and open-spaced experience.

Anyone who owns shower curtains can certainly attest to their inconvenience. In fact, there's almost nothing more awkward. Sure, they do their job in keeping water inside the shower, but they have the uncanny ability to gravitate toward the pour soul who's taking a shower, and literally stick to the very skin that's being washed! It's strange but true... Shower curtains - especially the thinner ones - can be attracted to the heat source generated within the bath and seemingly attack whoever is inside. As funny as that may seem - it's no joke when the shower curtain isn't as clean as it should be. No one wants to fight with a dirty shower curtain while trying to get clean.

But the shower curtain nightmare doesn't end with this physical attraction. For some strange reason, kittens and young cats like to play in the shower and one of the items that they like to pounce and shred is the shower curtain! Thicker shower curtains seem to last through several of these playful fights, but it's really just a matter of time before your cat turns your shower curtains into ragged Venetian blinds.

Bath screens, as you can guess, can withstand even the most aggressive cat, and they aren't inclined to gravitate toward you while you're covered in suds! Made of sturdy, glass or glass-like material (such as plexiglass for example), bath screens come in a variety of styles and sizes while adding a touch of beauty.

If this comfort and ease of mind appeals to you, say, andquot;Bye-bye shower curtains - a new shower add-on is moving in!andquot; <bio>Check out our selection of bath screens at http://www.wdbathrooms.co.uk/acatalog/Bath___Shower_Screens.html </bio>

Isn't it strange how there are some things from childhood that you don't miss and that you'll probably never do again and then how there are things that you loved so much you would still do them everyday as an adult if you could? Well, I've been missing the strangest things from childhood lately, I'll admit it. For example, I've been missing some of the games that my siblings and I used to entertain ourselves with as young children. We used to play darts for hours on end, and lately I've been playing darts nearly every day.

I'm not sure when I remembered my love for darts, but I can tell you with honesty that from the moment I heard mention of darts a few months ago I have been like a mad man. I immediately went out and bought the nicest set of darts and a dart board that I could find and I have played at least a game or two of darts most every day since then. It is a sort of strange obsession, I know, and many people in my family and friends are making fun of me for it, but I just cannot help it. I love throwing the darts and trying to perfect my throws just so.

I guess I love darts so much because of the memories I have from childhood. I loved being with my siblings and enjoying afternoons filled with game after game. Darts was a game that wasn't introduced to us until later in our childhood, so we learned it late but picked it up fast and were hooked. We would rush home from school, drop our bags and rush into the gameroom where the darts was. We would play for as many hours as we could before being called to dinner or to homework. Now that my siblings are far apart we cannot play darts anymore, but I have taught my children and my close friends how to play.

If you are looking for an easy and fun hobby to pick up, then try getting a dart board and some darts. I love it because it is cheaper than many games and because it lasts for a longtime. No game of darts is quite the same so it can provide endless hours of entertainment and laughter. It really becomes a challenge to do things better and better the more darts you play. So get to a local store and buy yourself a set of darts today. You'll have guarenteed fun for months and years on end. <bio>Martin Stoleman is a grown up kid who still loves to do things like play darts. During the day he goes to work as a businessman. See http://www.learndarts.info for more on this great game. </bio>

Fashion and decorating trends come and go. There are some trends that we're really happy to see go. and as far as I am concerned. the lava lamp is one of them. But now. that famous sixties trend has now reappeared on the scene.

When I was a kid. a lot of my friends had lava lamps. At that time. I thought they were just the coolest item to own. My older sister had lava lamps in her apartment so I thought it was a really mature thing to have. I begged my parents for one. first for my birthday and then for Christmas. but I never got one. My mother was way too practical; the reason I could not have one was because there was no extra outlet in my room. I was willling to give up my regular lamp. but that idea didn't fly. Neither did the idea that we could put the lava lamps all over the house. My ill-informed mother thought they were ugly.

I had to live by my parents decision. but the appeal of a lava lamp was all consuming. I finally saved enough money of my own from babysitting and dragged a girlfriend to go shopping with me for one. I found a store with a lava lamp on a clearance rack and became the proud owner of one. I figured I could keep it in the closet and it would add an interesting glow to my room. but my mother would not know about it. Since I did not have another outlet. I had to drag an extension cord and plug it into another outlet. I was thrilled with excitement as I put the lava lamp in the closet. using the box it came in as a table. I turned it on. and it was one of the ugliest colors I have ever seen. Maybe that is why it was on the clearance rack?

Still. watching the brownish orange blobs float around inside the glass was a thrill. Just them. I was called down to dinner. and while we were eating. wer heard a load crash and then the cat came flying downstairs with a strange looking tail. She was so scared she fled beneath the sofa and wouldn't come out. Of course. the crash was my precious lava lamp hitting the floor when the cat stepped through the extension cord. It didn't take long for my mother to figure out what the strange liquid on the floor of my bedroom was. A terse andquot;Clean it upandquot; said it all. Well. a lava lamp does not have lava in it. but it sure has some strange liquid in it. It was very greasy and smelly and every time I tried to pick up the blobs. they escaped through my fingers. Two hours later the result was passable. but I could not sleep in my room due to the putrid odor. I had to 'fess up to my mom. who said she was very dissapointed in me. Honestly. I was a good kid. and my mom had never said that to me before.

Today when I see a lava lamp I cannot understand what the appeal of that ugly thing was. especially since it caused me so much trouble and only led me to the sadness of my mom's disappointment. <bio>Andrew Caxton contributes adding content to http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
Do you remember your first car?

Remember how proud you were of it? It might not have been the newest car on the block, but it was going to be the best.

You took it home and washed it, polished it and took the vacuum cleaner outside to make sure it was totally spotless, every week!

As a teenager, living at home, with brothers and sisters, the car is your space. Your friends judge you by your car and how smart it looks. Your car gives you the chance of privacy that you never get at home. The opportunity to take your girlfriend somewhere quiet, maybe, or just the chance to go off on your own and enjoy the sea view, maybe do a bit of fishing.

That was just the outside. Remember tweaking the engine, changing the brake fluid, and fitting a spoiler? Did you fit a nitrous oxide nitro kit to improve the performance of your automobile? Did you tell the insurance company that you had modified the engine? Of course you did.

Was your first car in the days before catalysts? When you could smell the nitric oxide emissions coming out of the exhaust when the engine was hot? Do you remember the chlorine like smell as you backed your car into the garage? That was nitric oxide.

Remember when gasoline smelled different. Nowadays, with all the benzene compounds added to it, gas smells totally different. Some peole say that modern, benzene rich, gas in a car with no exhaust catalyst gives out more harmful emissions than the good old type, complete with nitric oxide and hyrdrocarbons.

Remember the leaks in the trunk? Oh, you had forgotten that. Remember how the heater leaked coolant all over the carpet? No? Did you forget that, too? Remember the strange noise that came from the front wheels at 75mph, but that went away once you were up to 85mph?

Strange isn't it, how memory works? Reminiscing is one thing, but would you really ever go back? <bio>Sebastian Romero works in the security industry and drives 30,000 miles a year.
Now, more than ever, we travel. We pack our suitcases, make sure we haven't forgotten the sunscreen, stick our passport in our back pocket and head for the door. But so often we take our own little world with us. Working all year round for those precious couple of weeks in the sun, we barely leave the poolside at the hotel where a scrambled egg breakfast is a must and all the other guests speak with the same "normal" accent as we do. What, I ask you, is the point of crossing continents to live life exactly as we do at home?

So what does it mean to really travel? What is the difference between going on holiday and traveling? More than anything it comes down to your state of mind and the reasons you are going in the first place. To travel is to experience, and to have new experiences you must be open to them, invite them. Sometimes this can be difficult, frightening even, as it means stepping out of your comfort zone. It means awkward moments, strange places, strange food and customs and ways of life that seem odd, and often the complete opposite of your own belief system. But isn't that what makes the world interesting?

So why do it? What is the reward for making all this effort? Why do people go out of their way to travel to strange, hot, dusty, freezing or rainy places to taste odd delicacies made from parts of animals they've never heard of, put themselves in uncomfortable, sometimes even dangerous, situations, dealing with the jet lag and the culture shock? The reward is education. The reward is life itself. You might decide you like some of those odd delicacies. You might make some new friends. You will no doubt have some stories to tell, and you will definitely learn something. Your reward will be self discovery, growth, and knowledge. It will be the fact that you braved the world and found out it isn't so scary after all.

Lonely Planet estimates that by the year 2020 1.5 billion people will be on the move each year. That is over a 6th of the world's population. The world has shrunk to the point of being a single global suburb. For the more adventurous, this can make travel more difficult, in that cultures are blending at a rapid rate. Countries import not only goods and services, but customs and beliefs. Therefore the human race might eventually become just that: a single race. Great for tolerance, but it would be a less interesting world. So before this happens explore, learn, experience. As the late author James Michener once said: "If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home". <bio>Mark Eden is a freelance travel photographer and writer, and the founder and director of Expanse Photography, a photographic services company offering fine art, limited edition prints as well as stock and assignment photography and publishing services.
One of the most popular television sitcoms ever, Cheers is the perfect series for anyone who's ever been to a regular getaway "where everyone knows your name". The show revolves around a friendly neighborhood Boston bar on Beacon Street named Cheers. Owned by former Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson), the bar is frequented by a host of regular customers and has three employees: bartender Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson), waitress Carla Tortelli (Rhea Pearlman), and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Celebrated psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar) is a common fixture at the bar (and later stars in his own award-winning series, Frasier). Barflies Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) Norm Peterson (George Wendt) finish off a strong supporting cast of zany characters.

The Cheers (Season 4) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes, including the first episode of the season which features the gang at Cheers and their remembrance of the late Ernie Pantusso (Coach). In this first episode, Indiana farm boy Woody Boyd arrives to meet his pen-pal (who happens to be Coach), but upon learning of Coach's death, Woody is hired by Sam to be a bartender. We also learn in the initial episode that Diane left Frasier at the altar during the couple's trek across Europe. The season ends with an improbable romance between Sam and the beautiful and intelligent city councilwoman Janet Eldridge (Kate Mulgrew). Diane is insanely jealous of Sam and Janet's romance, and the season ends with Sam's over-the-phone marriage proposal to a mysterious woman...

Below is a list of episodes included on the Cheers (Season 4) DVD:

Episode 70 (Birth, Death, Love and Rice) Air Date: 09-26-1985 Episode 71 (Woody Goes Belly Up) Air Date: 10-03-1985 Episode 72 (Someday My Prince Will Come) Air Date: 10-17-1985 Episode 73 (The Groom Wore Clearasil) Air Date: 10-24-1985 Episode 74 (Diane's Nightmare) Air Date: 10-31-1985 Episode 75 (I Will Gladly Pay You Tuesday) Air Date: 11-07-1985 Episode 76 (2 Good 2 Be 4 Real) Air Date: 11-14-1985 Episode 77 (Love Thy Neighbor) Air Date: 11-21-1985 Episode 78 (From Beer to Eternity) Air Date: 11-28-1985 Episode 79 (The Barstoolie) Air Date: 12-05-1985 Episode 80 (Don Juan is Hell) Air Date: 12-12-1985 Episode 81 (Fools and Their Money) Air Date: 12-19-1985 Episode 82 (Take My Shirt, Please) Air Date: 01-09-1986 Episode 83 (Suspicion) Air Date: 01-16-1986 Episode 84 (The Triangle) Air Date: 01-23-1986 Episode 85 (Cliffie's Big Score) Air Date: 01-30-1986 Episode 86 (Second Time Around) Air Date: 02-06-1986 Episode 87 (The Peterson Principle) Air Date: 02-13-1986 Episode 88 (Dark Imaginings) Air Date: 02-20-1986 Episode 89 (Save the Last Dance For Me) Air Date: 02-27-1986 Episode 90 (Fear is My Co-Pilot) Air Date: 03-13-1986 Episode 91 (Diane Chambers Day) Air Date: 03-20-1986 Episode 92 (Relief Bartender) Air Date: 03-27-1986 Episode 93 (Strange Bedfellows: Part 1) Air Date: 05-01-1986 Episode 94 (Strange Bedfellows: Part 2) Air Date: 05-08-1986 Episode 95 (Strange Bedfellows: Part 3) Air Date: 05-15-1986 <bio>Britt Gillette is author of The DVD Report (http://thedvdreport.blogspot.com), a blog where you can find more reviews like this one. </bio>

It is important to many individuals to have a gentle dentist, especially when a sensitive mouth is involved. Then there is that strange fear of the dentist because the mouth is a sensitive place. The mouth is so sensitive that sometimes activities such as flossing can make the gums bleed or inflict pain. We are more comfortable with having control over our toothbrushes rather than having someone else place strange objects into our mouths. However, the key to good oral hygiene is seeing a dentist twice per year.

But is it possible to have a gentle dentist? Of course it is. It is important for you to set aside past experiences and be proactive in finding a dentist who is going to have your best interest at heart. That isn't saying that past dentists haven't had your best interest at heart. That's just saying that some dentists are gentler than others and you are one of those seeking out the more gentle ones.

What to do

The first thing you want to do is ask around. You have friends who go to the dentist regularly and you want to see what they have to say about their own dentists. Chances are they have been to a dentist in the past that was not so gentle, so they're going to tell you about it. If they like their current dentist, then they're going to tell you about that too. So be sure to listen to what others have to say about dentists they have visited. If you have to, make notes about which ones to stay away from and which ones are considered gentle. You can then compare what everyone has to say and make a decision after that.

After you have made a decision regarding which dentist to see, schedule an appointment for a simple cleaning. You can tell if a dentist is a gentle dentist just by how the cleaning is done. If they seem in a hurry and you're feeling pain, then you know that the dentist is not gentle and that you never want to embark on that particular journey again. You then you know that you need to try another dentist in six months. You can keep doing this until you find one to be your regular dentists. If you find that you have cavities that need filled or need another dental procedure, it may be a good idea to seek out another dentist if the one you tried was not so gentle. This may cost you a little more money, but you need to make an appointment with another dentist and consult with them. They will look at your teeth to see what is going on. This is also a way in which you can tell how gentle they are. You can also ask questions such as:

- Do you do the procedure yourself or does someone do it for you?

- Do you apply a numbing gel to the area in which Novocain shots will be administered?

If someone other than the dentist is doing the procedure, then that is a red flag because you don't know that person. The second question is also important because a gentle dentist will ensure that you will feel as little as possible.

It pays off

Embarking on a search for a gentle dentist is going to pay off because you're going to be able to have dental work done with minimal pain. No one wants to have a procedure done and then feel it for two weeks. A gentle dentist is going to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible, which is what a dentist should do.<bio>5000 Yonge Dental is owned and operated by Dr. Eric Rouah, a Toronto dentist who specializes in both general and cosmetic dentistry.
Almost everyone has heartburn at least once in his or her life. The strange GERD symptoms are the ones that get to us. Heartburn is a normal rite of passage. East too much, drink too much, load up on spicy food and you've got it in spades. Thankfully, it's gone by the next day and you are ready for the next round.

On the other hand, for a large chunk of the population, heartburn is a chronic problem invading their lifestyle every day and making them miserable because of the pain and discomfort. In chronic cases like this the medical term for this malady is gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. In a normal gastrointestinal tract, food is eaten, slides down the food tube (esophagus) and shows up before the muscle guarding the stomach. It is a sphincter muscle and it is supposed to open in only one direction - into the stomach, but for some people this guard is weak or relaxed and food particles dripping with gastric acid and powerful enzymes, reflux or back up into the food tube producing a 5-alarm food tube fire. The guard was asleep at his post. The barrier failed and acid reflux GERD wins again, sad to say.

Common GERD Symptoms

The more common shared GERD symptoms include but are not limited to:

* Heartburn - food tube on fire * Chest pain * Problems swallowing * Chronic dry cough * Hoarseness in the throat * Feeling there is food still stuck in the throat * Bad breath

Heartburn is one of the very uncomfortable GERD symptoms that one usually feels when suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease. If you have no idea what heartburn feels like, the name can give you an inkling of the feeling. It feels like there is a 5-alarm fire raging in the middle part of your chest and it can range from a weak discomfort to feeling like you're having a heart attack.

Antacid

The other GERD symptoms are normally linked to heartburn while a few like nausea and bad breath are not. In most cases, an antacid can allay the GERD symptoms that stem from heartburn. Take note that the antacid can alleviate the discomfort of the GERD symptoms but it can't actually figure out the full trouble or the cause of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Reasons For GERD Symptoms

Most of the GERD symptoms are induced by the lower esophageal sphincter not doing it task of tightening itself after a meal. In a few cases, some foods can really keep the lower esophageal sphincter from doing so while in other times, it is our posture and the slant of the body that causes GERD and GERD symptoms.

Listen. If you are obese, you probably have GERD. Some people with GERD try milk at bedtime. This just makes matters worse because it just increases the gastric acid production - Yikes!

Quite frankly, if none of the over-the-counter medications work, it is time to consult a physician who can run some tests and ascertain what strange GERD symptoms vs Trenchant GERD Treatments or medications are required to lick your GERD. <bio>Walt Brown is a researcher/writer who has been involved with acid reflux and studied its effects for many years.
I love venturing around the world and learning about other cultures. I huge part of me comes alive when I'm in another culture. Ever since I was a little girl I have always been fascinated with the faces of people from other parts of the world and I've been intrigued by the way other people live life. Photography seemed to be the right profession for me because it allows me to travel the world and get paid, literally, to see people and cultures and things. I love it. I also love collecting special things from other continents and nations that I visit. My latest fascination has been growing my collection of African art.

I'll admit that at first, African art seemed a little too strange for my liking. It wasn't typically in my color scheme and I couldn't see it fitting into the home I had created back in Vermont. So on many of my first journies to Africa I came home without any African art. If you're thinking that it is strange for an artist to pass up any chance to collect art, I agree with you now, but I haven't always.

I learned to love and collect African art when I took my two daughters with me to Africa on my latest photoshoot project there. It was a busy three week trip during which we would be making our way through six different countries. I didn't expect to find much time for shopping, but my daughters kept insisting upon it and so I frequently found myself in the most quaint markets meeting stall owners and finding more shots for my photography project than I ever imagined to.

I had given each of my daughters a set amount of spending money before we ever arrived in Africa, and they had that amount gone within the first two markets we enjoyed. I learned to love African art through the eyes of my daughters. They were intrigued and captivated by the art more than I had expected they would be. Watching them pick up new items and love their look I too began to love looking at African art. I decided that I wanted to forego my need to have everything matching in my home in order that I could collect important art work from Africa, the continent that I had grown to love.

If you come into my home today you can hardly walk through a room without seeing the imprint of Africa somewhere. That's because African art adorns almost every room that I spend time in. I have had a transformation: I went from being someone who practically ignored the beauty of African art to being someone that is enthralled with its beauty. <bio>Julee Mitchelsin is a photographer who gets to travel the world over for her work.
Not all cholesterol is created equal. Does this seem like a strange statement? While it may seem strange, it is true. Not all types of cholesterol are the same. Your body creates some cholesterol; you add some to your body by the foods you eat. Also, medical experts consider some cholesterol bad while they think that you also have good cholesterol. What, good cholesterol? With all the negative publicity we hear each day about cholesterol, how can you believe that any form of this substance is good?

To understand how expert can call one cholesterol good, you must first understand the role of cholesterol in the body. Since the body naturally produces this substance, it makes sense the body needs this substance to survive. Cholesterol's main role in the body is to preserve and build cell wall membranes. Cholesterol also aids in digesting fat soluble vitamins and is important in producing hormones.

So, as you see, cholesterol is a substance the body needs for it to be healthy. Cholesterol becomes bad when there is a surplus of it in our systems either because our body produces too much of the substance or when we take in too much cholesterol though the foods we eat. This excess cholesterol can build up in the blood vessels, clogging arteries and causing heart disease and heart attack.

This is the point where doctors begin to distinguish between good and bad cholesterol. Medical researchers refer to good cholesterol as high density lipoprotein or HDL cholesterol, while they term bad cholesterol as low-density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol. You can also call HDL cholesterol good cholesterol, because the medical practitioners believe that your bodily processes work to transport this cholesterol out of the body. This is good because it does not stick around to plug up your arteries. Meanwhile, it is LDL cholesterol that builds up in the arteries and causes heart disease.

Therefore, if you want to avoid heart disease, your goal should be to raise your good cholesterol levels and lower the bad cholesterol levels. What, then, is the ideal good cholesterol level? Doctors want your good cholesterol to be above 50 mg/DL. Any reading between 35 and 50 mg/DL they consider acceptable while they look at those below 35 mg/DL to be too low.

Now, what can you do if you find your good cholesterol level is too low? What are the best ways to raise it? Here are a few things to try. First, lose some weight. If you are overweight, this change can drastically help improve cholesterol levels. Join a weight loss program to help you reduce your weight. Exercise can also help to raise your HDL level. If you smoke, quitting can also help to raise levels of good cholesterol.

As you can see, all cholesterol is indeed not created equal. By increasing your good cholesterol, you can cut your risk of heart disease and stroke. Several lifestyle changes, such as losing weight and giving up smoking, can help improve your levels of this good cholesterol. <bio>Get the latest in HDL cholesterol know how from the only true source at http://www.lowercholesterollog.com.
If you were a baby, you'd cry too. After being thrust into a world full of strange people, strange sights and strange sounds, you'd want to return to the womb; a happy haven where it was warm, cozy, and the sound that lulled you to sleep was a pleasant kind of whooshing. So how do you show you are unsatisfied with your current living arrangement? You cry. And you drive your parents bonkers. What is a parent to do?

Experts believe that you can significantly decrease crying associated with colic and recreate this whooshing noise by playing white noise for your crying baby.

What is White Noise?

White noise is all around us. The humming of a fan, the road noise in the car, these are all forms of white noise. And in your baby's case, the whooshing in the womb was white noise. Quite simply, white noise is all the sound frequencies a human ear can hear all being heard at once. Almost like a crowded room of people all talking at once. That roar you hear is white noise.

Why Would My Baby Want to Hear White Noise?

Your baby needs something to soothe her and remind her of her happy haven in the womb. Playing white noise will accomplish this goal and more.

First, you can play white noise to help drown out, or mask other noises. Several people sleep with a fan running to not be disturbed by other sounds in the house. Likewise, by playing white noise while baby sleeps, most sounds will be masked. So, if the dog barks, or the phone rings, you don't have to worry about your baby being disturbed. She will sleep more soundly and be much happier.

Second, the white noise will mimic the sound your baby heard for 40 weeks or so while in the womb. That rush, whoosh, or roaring sound is easy to recreate with simple things you might have around the house. The sound that most resembles the sound baby heard is a vacuum cleaner running, but there are a few more options you could try.

How do I Recreate White Noise?

You can recreate white noise by using everyday items around the house. Below are some ideas.

- A radio set to static
- A vacuum cleaner running
- A fan running
- A dishwasher running
- A hair dryer running

The goal is to create a soothing atmosphere which reminds baby of her environment in the womb. You can take other actions to achieve this atmosphere by turning down the lights, turning on some white noise, and keep baby gently swaying (swings work great for this). Another idea for creating the womb environment is to swaddle your baby. Swaddling helps your baby feel safe and secure.

But I Don't Want to Burn Up My Appliances!

If you try running your vacuum cleaner during a crying spell and your baby calms down quickly, you might want to invest in a white noise cd, or white noise generator. You can find these readily available for purchase online.

A white noise cd is more portable. You can just throw it in your diaper bag and go.
