<content:encoded><![CDATA[The non-surgical medical attempts to cure <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/obesity" rel="tag">obesity</a> are many, but the results aren't that great and generally tend to be discouraging. Doctor recommended diets are numerous and for some they work well, but for others, the long-term sustained weight loss doesn't occur. Behavior modification tends to be more effective, but then again, weight-regain is common when the patient doesn't abide by the learnt behavior. So, what is the answer? Well truthfully, there isn't any simple one answer to help cure obesity. <br /><br /> There is a more natural and less invasive surgical option to help cure obesity and to help those attain optimal health. For those patients who are severely obese, there is the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+lap+band" rel="tag">gastric lap band</a> procedure. This surgical procedure calls for a gastric band to be placed around the stomach, creating a smaller pouch. <br /><br /> Gastric Bypass vs. The Lap Band <br /><br /> The Gastric Bypass, sometimes referred to as the Roux en-Y Gastric Bypass, is the only <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bariatric" rel="tag">bariatric</a> procedure that appears to combine both volume restriction and malabsorption. In the procedure, the stomach is transected and separated from the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a>. Generally, a stomach pouch the size of a grape is created, and the rest of the stomach is divided and separated. A portion of the small intestine, or bowel, is then attached to the pouch which allows the food to "bypass" the separated, larger portion of the stomach. This surgery typically requires 2--4 days in the hospital and 1--6 weeks of recovery. It is important to note that this a potentially dangerous surgery and can cost between $25,000 and $40,000, or more. <br /><br /> The Gastric Lap Band procedure is a simple laparoscopic surgery that is far less invasive than other bariatric procedures such as the Gastric Bypass and is fully reversible. Because it has no malabsorptive components, the Gastric Lap Band system induces weight loss solely through restriction of food intake. Lap Band patients generally experience a healthy, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gradual+weight+loss" rel="tag">gradual weight loss</a> of approximately 1-2 pounds per week over the first year, and up to 40-60% of their total excess body weight within the first few years. <bio>Sanoviv provides alternative and complementary health care, obesity surgery, lap band surgery, bariatric surgery and more with advanced diagnostics and holistic procedures. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lap+band+surgery" rel="tag">Lap band surgery</a> is a procedure aimed to promote weight loss for people struggling to cope with obesity. Overall, the lap band surgery is a simple procedure where, in short, a small implant is placed around the top portion of the stomach to form a '<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+pouch" rel="tag">gastric pouch</a>'. Here's how it works:<br><br>A '<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+band" rel="tag">gastric band</a>' with a small balloon inside is attached around the top portion of your stomach, forming a smaller 'gastric pouch'. The placement of the band creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach that holds up to approximately 30 ml, which works out to about 1/8 cup. You are inclined to eat less because the pouch holds less food than the whole stomach. As the upper part of the stomach registers itself as being full, it sends a message to the brain saying that the entire stomach is full. This is the main principle behind the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lap+band+procedure" rel="tag">lap band procedure</a>; this tightening of the stomach feeling or sensation helps the person to:<br><br>1. be hungry less often<br>2. to eat smaller portions<br>3. and lose weight over time.<br><br>This pouch is filled with a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/saline+solution" rel="tag">saline solution</a> or a Radiopaque <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/isotonic+solution" rel="tag">isotonic solution</a> which is injected into the band via a port. Via the port, the surgeon has control over the amount of saline solution that is inserted into the band. When fluid is injected, the lap band expands and places pressure around the outside of the stomach. This causes a decrease in the size of the passage between the pouch and the lower stomach; restricting the movement of food.<br><br>The gastric band is adjusted or inflated via a small port inserted just under the surface of the skin. When adjusting the lap band (same as gastric band) a specialized needle must be used as to avoid causing any damage to the port or the port membrane. These ports come is many different styles and designs and may be placed based on the surgeon's recommendations.<br><br>Once the procedure is done, (usually takes about 45 minutes) the next stage is the post operative follow-up adjustments, support, and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lifestyle+changes" rel="tag">lifestyle changes</a>. The patient will need to visit their doctor every few weeks in order to receive their saline injections. Over this time the band is filled to the point where the patient feels they've hit a 'sweet spot' where optimal restriction has been achieved. This is just based on personal preference and each person will be different.<br><br>Interestingly enough, the entire lap band operation is fully reversible! The lap band surgery is the ONLY weight loss surgery that is reversible. That's because gastric band placement, unlike other procedures like malabsorptive weight loss surgery (an example would be Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery), doesn't cut or remove any part of the stomach or the digestive system. It's usually easy to remove the band and reverse the surgery, requiring only a laparoscopic procedure, after which point the stomach should return back to its normal pre-banded state.<br><br>So that's how the entire lap-band procedure works, but we still haven't touched upon post-surgery support, diet plans, proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle, the list goes on and on, so be sure to keep coming back to Lap Band Blog as we continue to examine the new weight loss surgery craze that is the the lap band surgery.<bio>Looking for information about <a href="http://www.lapband-blog.com">lap band</a> and lap band surgeries? <content:encoded><![CDATA[ With the popularity today's media has placed on physical fitness and the beauty of those who are physically fit, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">gastric bypass surgery</a> has <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gained+popularity" rel="tag">gained popularity</a> as a solution for obesity, especially <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/morbid+obesity" rel="tag">morbid obesity</a>.<br /><br /><br /><br /> While there are two primary methodologies within the world of gastric bypass surgery, the original method, called the "loop" method. Having been practiced in the 1960s, this method is now commonly avoided because of better advances in research and medicine. Right now, the most common gastric bypass method is known as the Proximal, or Roux en-Y system. <br /><br /> As with any gastric bypass method, with Proximal, or Roux en-Y gastric bypass surgery, food intake is significantly restricted due to the mechanical limitations of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a>.<br /><br /><br /><br /> With this surgery, a small pouch of a stomach is created and essentially closed off from the rest of the stomach. As you take in food, it moves into this tiny pouch and then on to the `Roux limb' of the small bowel which is created during surgery. This allows the food to bypass the rest of the stomach and the first part of the small intestine. With this re-routing of the intestinal tract, the body is unable to absorb as many calories as previously done. This allows the body to lose weight at a rapid pace.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Finally, the remaining gastric bypass method is known as the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/biliopancreatic+diversion" rel="tag">biliopancreatic diversion</a>. This method is used less frequently and is rather complicated. With the biliopancreatic diversion , portions of the stomach are literally removed from the GI tract.<br /><br />A tiny pouch of remaining stomach is then directly connected to the end section of the small bowel. Since this method bypasses the remaining intestine there are less calories absorbed and weight loss occurs.<br /><br /><br /><br /> The gastric bypass methods used today are important advances in the field of surgical medicine and have helped thousands of people who previously suffered with obesity to lose the weight with which they struggled for years. No, it is not a quick fix, but in some cases, the gastric bypass methods are life-saving alternatives to continuing to haul around the excess pounds. <bio>For more important information on health topics sure to visit <a href="http://www.the-health-hub.com" >http://www.the-health-hub.com</a> where you will find information and resources on personal health such as aches and pains, hair restoration, diet and nutrition, fitness and many other articles that you can view at <a href="http://the-health-hub.com" >http://the-health-hub.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ There is more to gastric bypass than merely controlling stomach size. During <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">gastric bypass surgery</a>, a large portion of the patients stomach is stapled together, leaving a tiny pouch. <br /><br /> When you get your gastric bypass surgery you will have a new stomach that only holds about three tablespoons of food at a time. With your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> reduced to the size of a walnut, you'll need to follow a gastric bypass diet. <br /><br /> The surgeon does not remove any part of the stomach or other tissue while doing the gastric bypass operation. This operation is the most common gastric bypass procedure performed. In another more complicated gastric bypass operation, portions of the stomach are removed. In this more complicated gastric bypass operation, portions of the stomach are removed. This is a relatively complex operation. It is recommended against having it reversed. <br /><br /> Results from long-term follow-up data of gastric bypass surgery show that over a five-year period, patients lost 58% of their excess weight. <br /><br /> Eating sweet or sugary foods promotes "dumping," a reaction which can occur after the gastric bypass operation. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dumping+syndrome" rel="tag">Dumping syndrome</a> occurs when the small intestine fills too quickly with undigested food from the stomach, as can happen following gastric bypass surgery. <br /><br /> Other commonly seen complications of gastric bypass surgery include intolerance to some foods, vitamin and mineral deficiency, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gallstones" rel="tag">gallstones</a>, bleeding <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcers" rel="tag">stomach ulcers</a>, hernia and dehydration. The most important of all, given that gastric bypass patients have a new, tiny stomach to fill is diet. <br /><br /> Another recent problem which is fairly common, especially in menstruating women, after gastric bypass, is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/anemia" rel="tag">anemia</a>. Because many nutrients are not absorbed by the body after gastric bypass, anemia can be a long-term effect. Due to the changes in digestion after gastric bypass surgery, patients may develop such nutritional deficiencies as anemia, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/osteoporosis" rel="tag">osteoporosis</a>, and metabolic bone disease. <br /><br /> The gastric bypass operation reduces the progression and mortality of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. However, this complication only occurs to a very small degree in the gastric bypass operation. One of biggest advancements in the gastric bypass operation has been the technique used to enter into the abdomen through the laparoscopic approach. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery creates dramatic changes in the size and shape of the stomach. Barely 16 months after gastric bypass surgery, which reduced your stomach to the size of a hard-boiled egg, a patient is able to shed 185 pounds. <bio>The most common surgery for obesity is Gastric Bypass. <content:encoded><![CDATA[There are several types of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/obesity+surgery" rel="tag">obesity surgery</a> available to those wishing to undergo the procedure. All of which have some level of permanence, meaning that you won't be able to fully reverse the obesity surgery once you go through with it. <br /><br /> The most commonly known form of obesity surgery is gastric bypass, also known as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+stapling" rel="tag">stomach stapling</a>. This procedure involves removing a large portion of the stomach from itself via a stapling device. The remains of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> are attached to a portion of the lower intestine. <br /><br /> Another well known procedure is the lap band. This is a less invasive form. The doctor places a ring with an inflatable section around the upper portion of the stomach. The ring has a tube attached to it that ends with a port that the doctor can easily access to inflate the ring and gradually reduce the stomachs capacity. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/biliopancreatic+diversion" rel="tag">Biliopancreatic Diversion</a>, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/duodenal+switch" rel="tag">Duodenal Switch</a> is a more involved surgery which consists of removing two thirds of the stomach and attaching the end of the stomach to a lower portion of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/small+intestine" rel="tag">small intestine</a>. The part of the intestine which was bypassed is still attached to the duodenum and its end attached to the small intestine where food is now routed to carry <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/digestive+juices" rel="tag">digestive juices</a> to the area. <br /><br /> The Long Limb Gastric Bypass is similar to the above except that doctors will attach the portion of small intestine containing digestive juices further down in the intestinal tract so that the food and digestive juices have even less time to mix. <br /><br /> There is a form of Gastric Bypass known as the Fobi modification. A normal gastric bypass procedure is modified by the placement of a firm ring of material around the new stomach pouch. <br /><br /> Other types of obesity surgery are vertical banded arthroplasty (rarely used anymore), Jejuno-Ileal Bypass, and Gastric Pacing. <bio>Read more <a href="<a href="http://www.obesity-surgery.biz">http://www.obesity-surgery.biz.</a>/sitemap.html"><a href="http://www.obesity-surgery.biz">http://www.obesity-surgery.biz.</a>/sitemap.html</a> and <a href="<a href="http://www.obesity-surgery.biz">http://www.obesity-surgery.biz.</a>/obesity-surgery-biz-index.htm"><a href="http://www.obesity-surgery.biz">http://www.obesity-surgery.biz.</a>/obesity-surgery-biz-index.htm</a> or visit our <a href="http://www.obesity-surgery.biz">http://www.obesity-surgery.biz.</a>. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">Gastric bypass surgery</a> is a common form of weight loss surgery that results in outstanding weight loss with minimal side effects. But once you undergo the gastric bypass surgery procedure you have to accept lifelong changes in your diet. The post-diet of gastric bypass surgery includes an adequate intake of protein, taking vitamin and mineral supplements including multivitamin, iron and calcium, B12 and avoiding sweets and fatty foods. <br /><br /> Types of gastric bypass surgery <br /><br /> In gastric bypass surgery, the surgeon takes off a large portion of the stomach leaving behind a tiny pouch. It is this small pouch that prevents overdose of eating as it can take very less amount of food. Moreover, with large parts of your stomach and small intestine bypassed, most of the nutrients and calories in the food do not get absorbed at all. This helps the person from gaining excess weight. <br /><br /> There are several types of bypass surgery operations. They are: <br /><br /> §Roux-en-Y gastric bypass [RGB] -- this is a common surgery where a small <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> is created by stapling part of the stomach together or by vertical banding. This reduces the amount of food to be taken. Then a Y-shaped section of the small intestine is attached to the pouch to allow food to bypass the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/duodenum" rel="tag">duodenum</a> as well as the first portion of jejunum. This causes reduced calorie and rapid nutrient absorption. <br /><br /> §Extensive gastric bypass [<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/biliopancreatic+diversion" rel="tag">biliopancreatic diversion</a>] -- in this complicated surgery, the lower portion of the stomach is removed. The small pouch that remains connected to the final segment of the small intestine completely bypasses both duodenum and jejunum. <br /><br /> People who undergo gastric bypass surgery always lose two-thirds of their excess weight within two years. <br /><br /> Risks of gastric bypass surgery <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery causes "dumping syndromes" where the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+contents" rel="tag">stomach contents</a> move too rapidly through the small intestine. The usual symptoms of gastric bypass surgeries include weakness, sweating, fainting, nausea, diarrhea, as well as inability to eat sweets. <br /><br /> People who undergo this procedure are at risk of: <br /><br /> §Band erosion -- the band closing off part of the stomach disintegrates <br /><br /> §Pouch stretching -- stomach gets bigger overtime, stretching back to its normal size before surgery <br /><br /> §Leakage of stomach contents into the abdomen [acid can eat away other organs] <br /><br /> §Nutritional deficiencies causing health problems <br /><br /> §Breakdown of staple lines -- band and staple fall apart, reversing procedure <br /><br /> Gastric bypass diet <br /><br /> Gastric bypass diet helps the patients to drop 50% to 90% of their overall excess fats. The diet is designed to bring about significant weight loss. It basically includes foods that are high in protein and low in fat, fiber, calories, and sugar. You should have lots of vitamins and minerals. Iron, vitamin, folate and calcium are the best nutrients for patients undergoing gastric bypass surgery. <br /><br /> You can undergo gastric bypass surgery only if you have been obese for at least 5 years, do not have a history of alcohol abuse, and do not possess untreated depression and range between the ages 18 to 65. <bio>Author Barney Garcia is a proud contributing author and enjoys writing about many different topics. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ You've been through endless diet regimes, exercised regularly, and sometimes even gone overboard in the hope of losing weight=85and you are still 100 pounds overweight! Maybe it's time to consider <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">Gastric Bypass Surgery</a>, which is a surgery that limits the amount of food you can take in. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery is a surgical procedure to treat extreme obesity, caused by severe accumulation of excess weight as fatty tissue, which causes other health problems too. As part of the surgery, the stomach is divided into a small upper pouch and a much larger, lower remaining pouch. Furthermore, the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/small+intestine" rel="tag">small intestine</a>s are also re-arranged to allow both pouches to remain connected to the intestines. In this way, the food intake decreases and the amount of food you can digest is also restricted. <br /><br /> There are two types of surgery. One is called Roux-en-Y gastric bypass which is the most common bypass procedure performed. By this, a small <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> is created by stapling part of the stomach together; limiting the amount of food you can eat. Next, a section of the small intestine is attached to the pouch to allow the food to bypass into the duodenum. This causes reduced calorie and nutrient absorption. <br /><br /> The second type is called Extensive Gastric Bypass, which is more complicated, as the lower portion of the stomach is removed. The remaining small pouch is connected directly to the segment of the small intestine. While this procedure is very effective in promoting weight loss, it is less used because of the high risk for nutritional deficiencies. <br /><br /> People who have gastric bypass operations have been known to lose around two thirds of their excess weight within two years. However, there are several risks such as having the stomach getting bigger over time and then reverting to its original size before surgery. Sometimes the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/staples" rel="tag">staples</a> that are used to tighten the stomach can break and reverse the procedure. Additionally, there can also be a leakage of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+contents" rel="tag">stomach contents</a> into the abdomen. This is dangerous because the acid can eat away at other organs. Nutritional deficiencies can also cause further health problems such as anemia, osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases; a result of limited absorption of vitamin B12, calcium and iron, and people then have to take nutritional supplements to prevent these deficiencies. <br /><br /> The risk of complications and nutritional deficiencies depends on how extensive the bypass operation is, and requires close monitoring and lifelong use of special foods and medications. <br /><br /> In some cases, post-operative symptoms could include nausea, fainting, weakness, sweating and sometimes diarrhea. Gallstones can also occur as a result of rapid weight loss, although they can be treated with medication. <br /><br /> While weight reduction surgery doesn't guarantee that you will lose all your excess weight or keep it off long-term, a lot depends on your commitment to making life long changes to your eating and exercise habits. However, your weight loss accomplishment and improved overall health are significant benefits, and will definitely be worth the effort. <bio>Further information about Gastric Bypass Surgery can be found at: <a href="http://www.gastric-bypass-notes.info/" >http://www.gastric-bypass-notes.info/</a> and <a href="http://www.ultimate-gastric-bypass.info/" >http://www.ultimate-gastric-bypass.info/</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[You may find it hard to believe that the doctor actually reduces the size of your stomach to about the size of a whiskey <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/shot+glass" rel="tag">shot glass</a>, but this is true. Of course it seems abnormally small and you won't be able to hold more that three tablespoons of food at a time. This can make it extremely easy to get sick from overeating or drinking too much water. <br /><br /> Over time your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> will expand and you'll be able to hold up to a cup and a half of food. That's an increase of about six times the size of a shot glass. This is dramatically more food, but its still a little bit less than the average <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dinner+meal" rel="tag">dinner meal</a> for a person. The stomach has amazing stretching abilities, which is part of what allows some people to become obese. Due to increased <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/food+intake" rel="tag">food intake</a> over time their stomachs become larger and they can hold even more food. <br /><br /> Even with a larger stomach pouch over time you'll still need to take vitamin and mineral supplements for the rest of your life after <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/obesity+surgery" rel="tag">obesity surgery</a>. The surgery will have reduced the length of time food spends in your intestinal tract, which reduces the amount of nutrients that you absorb. <br /><br /> Also because you won't be eating as much food you will need to drink more water in order to get sufficient fluids. Most of us get our eight daily cups of water from both the water in food we eat and our drinks. <br /><br /> Despite the limits of your new smaller stomach there are still ways to cheat and not lose weight or even regain weight. If you don't stick to a strict meal regime of three meals a day plus snacks and instead just 'graze' all day you can take in too many <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/calories" rel="tag">calories</a>. Some people continue to eat high calorie foods or will eat 'mindlessly' while watching television or performing some other task which can also lead to too many calories. <bio>Read more <a href="<a href="http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com">http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com</a>/sitemap.html"><a href="http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com">http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com</a>/sitemap.html</a> and <a href="<a href="http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com">http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com</a>/obesity-surgery-advisor-com-index.htm"><a href="http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com">http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com</a>/obesity-surgery-advisor-com-index.htm</a> or visit our <a href="http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com">http://www.obesity-surgery-advisor.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ In the past almost every <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pouch+laminator" rel="tag">pouch laminator</a> would require the use of a pouch carrier. However, in recent years more and more manufacturers are advertising that you can use their machines without a carrier. These machines often use silicon or ceramic <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/heated+rollers" rel="tag">heated rollers</a> and Teflon coated heating plates and they are able to pass the documents through without a carrier. However, just because these <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laminators" rel="tag">laminators</a> can run documents without a carrier doesn't mean that you shouldn't use a carrier. Here are four reasons you should always use a pouch carrier with your laminator. <br /><br /> 1. When you <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laminate+documents" rel="tag">laminate documents</a> the heat from the rollers activates and melts a layer of adhesive inside the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laminating+pouch" rel="tag">laminating pouch</a>. This adhesive is what makes the pouches stick to your documents and provides the lasting laminated effect. When the adhesive is melted during the laminating process it is possible (and likely) that some adhesive will squeeze out of the edges of the pouch. If you are using a pouch carrier the adhesive will never come into contact with your laminating rollers. However, if you aren't using a carrier the adhesive will squish out onto the rollers of your laminator and will begin to build up. Over time, this buildup of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laminating+adhesive" rel="tag">laminating adhesive</a> can cause all sorts of problems. <br /><br /> 2. If you run <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laminating+pouches" rel="tag">laminating pouches</a> without a carrier you exponentially increase the chances of the pouches getting wrapped around the rollers. The buildup of adhesive mentioned in point number one can cause a pouch to stick to the rollers and to curl around the rollers instead of exiting the laminator. If you catch the problem quickly it is sometimes possible to salvage your laminator. However, many laminators end up in the garbage every year because of this problem. A pouch carrier adds additional rigidity to keep the pouches from curling and helps to ensure that even if things would start to wrap up that the adhesive won't fuse the pouch and document onto the laminating rollers. <br /><br /> 3. A laminating pouch carrier can help to ensure that the finished laminated document is smooth and free from heat marks or imperfections. The carrier helps to ensure that there is a smooth surface against the pouch and document when the laminator is feeding the materials. Small amounts of adhesive on the rollers or imperfections will not affect the laminating process as dramatically when using a pouch carrier. <br /><br /> 4. When handling laminating pouches while they are still hot it is very easy to leave marks and fingerprints on the laminated surface. With a pouch carrier it is easy to move the laminated material to the side where it can cool without ever needing to touch the actual document. This can be extremely helpful. <br /><br /> Ever pack of pouches that you buy should come with a pouch carrier and if you need extras they are extremely inexpensive. With these things in mind, it is highly advisable to use a carrier with every document that you laminate. It can save you time, money and hassle if you do. <bio>Jeff McRitchie is the designer and Director of Marketing for <a href="http://www.MyBinding.com" >http://www.MyBinding.com</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ You've had your baby and now you have to deal with your post <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pregnancy" rel="tag">pregnancy</a> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a>. If you feel like running from the sight of it in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/despair" rel="tag">despair</a>, not to worry, you are not the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/first+woman" rel="tag">first woman</a> to feel so, nor will you be the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/last+woman" rel="tag">last woman</a> to feel like this. <br /><br /> Many of us find it extremely hard to come to terms with the fact that we will never again look the way we did when we were sixteen, with a flat, if not firm stomach. <br /><br /> Unless we begin to do something now, we will more than likely go around with the slightly sagging pouch that is our post pregnancy stomach. This can be a truly terrifying thought. What about our jeans and our lovely skirts and things that used to fit us? <br /><br /> What about all those <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/midriff" rel="tag">midriff</a> baring, hip hugging clothes that filled our closets before pregnancy? What happens to all of these? Well, for one thing, you can probably throw those out the window as they will all more or less be out of fashion by the time that you regain your figure back, including your soft post pregnancy stomach. <br /><br /> You can get your figure back, there's no two words about that, you just need the time, and the right weight loss plan to do this. <br /><br /> If all of this seems shallow to some people, it really isn't. There is simply nothing more <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/disheartening" rel="tag">disheartening</a> to a woman's self esteem than not looking her healthy best. This doesn't mean that you need to lose enormous amounts of weight, only that you need to get yourself to a level where you are comfortable with your body. <br /><br /> If you are comfortable with the womanly swell that is your post pregnancy stomach, then think no more about it. Be proud of yourself and don't be afraid to let people know that you are proud of yourself. All that really matters is not what your post pregnancy stomach looks like, or what other people think you like, but what you think of yourself, and whether you are comfortable with it. <br /><br /> Most of us today though, would probably prefer to be somewhere in the weight range that we were before we became pregnant, and this is also fine, as long as this is what you truly want, and not what you perceive other people to expect from you. <br /><br /> You need to decide whether you want to keep your post pregnancy stomach, or whether you want washboard abs to go with those hip hugging jeans you love so much. It's really as simple as that. <bio>Author's Sites: <a href="http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pregnancy_weight_loss/index.html" >http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pregnancy_weight_loss/index.html</a> , <a href="http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/home_remedy_for_vaginal_infections.html" >http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/home_remedy_for_vaginal_infections.html</a><br /><br /> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/weight+loss+surgery" rel="tag">Weight loss surgery</a> can be divided into three types: <br /><br /> 1. Restrictive procedures to reduce the size of your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a>, 2. Mal-absorptive procedures alter the flow from your stomach to your intestine, and 3. Combination procedures that involve the characteristics of both of the above procedures. <br /><br /> This article will be focusing on the first option. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">Gastric bypass surgery</a> is one type of weight loss surgical procedures that can be used, and is actually commonly used, to cause significant weight loss for a patient that is exceedingly obese. Gastric bypass surgery is designed to reduce the body's intake of calories. Calorie reduction through this surgery is accomplished in two main ways: <br /><br /> 1. After the surgery, the patient's stomach is actually smaller than it was. This means that the patient will feel full faster and it will be easier for the candidate to learn to reduce the amount of food that he/she consumes. 2. Part of the patient's stomach and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/small+intestines" rel="tag">small intestines</a> are literally bypassed in the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/food+consumption" rel="tag">food consumption</a> process so that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/fewer+calories" rel="tag">fewer calories</a> are absorbed by the candidate. <br /><br /> Prior to any successful weight loss operation, the patient's doctor will give the patient a complete medical examination to evaluate the patient's state of overall health. A psychological evaluation will also be undertaken. If at the conclusion of the consultation and evaluation, the doctor does not feel the patient is ready, then the surgery will not be recommended. Should the doctor recommend the procedure, then the patient will receive extensive nutritional counseling before (and after) the surgery. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery is always performed under anesthesia. There are two basic steps to the surgery: <br /><br /> 1. The first step in the surgery makes the patient's stomach smaller. The surgeon divides the stomach into a small upper section and a larger bottom section using <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/staples" rel="tag">staples</a> that are like stitches. The top section of the stomach will hold any digested food. <br /><br /> 2. After the stomach has been divided, the surgeon connects a section of the small intestine to the pouch. This ensures that the food bypassed the lower portion of the stomach. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery can be performed using a laparoscope. This technique is actually far less invasive than traditional surgery. The incisions are much smaller and therefore are a little less painful and a lot less noticeable, which lowers the risk of large scars and hernias after the procedure. Once the small incisions are made in the abdomen, then the surgeon passes slender surgical instruments through these narrow openings, as well as, a camera so that he or she can see the maneuvering of the instruments. <br /><br /> If you have gastric bypass surgery, then you will usually need to stay in the hospital for 4 to 5 days after the doctor performs the surgery on you. Your doctor will approve your discharge to go back home once you are able to do the following: <br /><br /> 1. Move without too much discomfort, 2. Eat liquid and/or pureed food without vomiting it back up, and 3. No longer requiring pain medication to be administered by injection. <br /><br /> You will remain on liquid or pureed food for several weeks after the surgery. Even after that time, you will feel full very quickly. This is because the new stomach pouch initially only holds a tablespoonful of food. The pouch eventually expands but will generally allow you no more than one cup of food. <bio>Lana Hampton is the publisher of "177 Fast Weight Loss Tips" (<a href="http://www.177fastweightlosstips.com" >http://www.177fastweightlosstips.com</a>). <content:encoded><![CDATA[Unlike a ring sling, where the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+sling" rel="tag">baby sling</a> is created using fabric and rings, a pouch sling is a single piece of cloth sewn into a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/tubular+shape" rel="tag">tubular shape</a> creating a pouch. There are no extra pieces of hardware such as rings, although some pouches some with <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/adjustable+options" rel="tag">adjustable options</a> and include zippers, Velcro, etc to allow the parent to adjust the pouch somewhat.<br><br>Here are some facts you need to know before purchasing pouch-type <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+slings" rel="tag">baby slings</a>:<br><br>How To Wear A Pouch Sling<br><br>The pouch sling is quite easy to wear, as it is only one contiguous piece of fabric. Basically, you slip it over your head and one shoulder and wear it like a sash. Unless you have an adjustable pouch, no further adjustment is required. Unlike the ring sling, many people find they learn to use these baby slings very quickly.<br><br>When To Use The Pouch Sling<br><br>Because of the construction of this type of sling, there is a greater chance of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lower+back+pain" rel="tag">lower back pain</a> for the wearer. Therefore, these baby slings are ideal for babies that are frequently being taken into and out of the pouch, and thus carried for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/short+periods" rel="tag">short periods</a> of time. Also, these baby slings are good for heavier toddlers that want to be picked up and then put back down again. The sling takes the pressure off your hips and lower back for short-term use and still allows you to carry your toddler as much as they ask.<br><br>Drawbacks To A Pouch Sling<br><br>As mentioned earlier, because of the construction of this type of sling, there is a greater chance of lower back pain to the wearer. These baby slings are not really meant for long-term use of carrying heavy babies. However, the better the pouch fits your body, the longer you will be able to carry a heavier child with a minimum of back pain. Also, better fabric will also assist in this. A good fabric will have good tensile strength, but also have decent diagonal give. You don't want the pouch to hang too low or it will put undue strain on your back and shoulder.<br><br>Alternatives For Heavier Children<br><br>Many parents find that pouch-type baby slings are ideal for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/small+babies" rel="tag">small babies</a> or for toddlers that want to frequently be picked up and put down again. However, for heavier babies that are not yet walking or toddlers that need to be held for longer periods of time, the pouch sling really isn't that ideal. Instead, wraps or mei tai baby slings are a better way to go. The key is recognizing what stage of life you child is in and getting a sling that best suits your lifestyle and your child's stage of development.<br><br>There are many types of baby slings on the market. They range from the purely functional to the outrageously hip and cool. All of them have a place in your home, as they will bring you closer to your baby than a stroller. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Cosmetic weight loss <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/plastic+surgery" rel="tag">plastic surgery</a> or bariatric surgery is fast gaining popularity because increasing affluence and knowledge of using surgery as a form of targetted or fast weight loss. <br /><br /> Patients may opt for a weight loss plastic surgery out of reshaping their body shape or simply to improve their health and escape from severe obesity. <br /><br /> There are basically three basic types of weight loss plastic surgery :- <br /><br /> There are the restrictive surgical procedures like the lap band surgery to make the stomach smaller and thus limiting food consumption. <br /><br /> Then there are the malabsorptive surgeries to shorten the intestine that comes in contact with food so that the body absorbs less calories from the food consumed. <br /><br /> Finally, there are surgeries that combine both restrictive and malasorptive <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/plastic+surgeries" rel="tag">plastic surgeries</a>. <br /><br /> Restrictive surgeries encourage easy weight loss in two ways. First, the surgeries reduce the amount of food consumed. The stomach is shrunk by creating a small pouch at the top of where food enters and therefore less food is consumed by the patients. Restrictive surgery also make patients feel full longer because the lower outlet of the pouch is made smaller so that food empties slowly. Lap band cosmetic weight loss surgery and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/vertical+banded+gastroplasty" rel="tag">Vertical banded gastroplasty</a> are examples of restrictive surgeries. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">Gastric bypass surgery</a> is a combination both the restrictive and the malabsorptive surgery. This surgery is done by creating a small stomach pouch to restrict the amount of food intake. Then a bypass of the duodenum and other parts of the intestine is constructed to cause malabsorption. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and Distal Gastric Bypass are examples of the gastric bypass weight loss plastic surgery. <br /><br /> What are the risks of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/weight+loss+surgeries" rel="tag">weight loss surgeries</a>? <br /><br /> Health risks are almost the same for both restrictive and gastric <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bypass+surgeries" rel="tag">bypass surgeries</a> although the risk of nutritional deficiencies for calcium, Vitamin B12 and iron are higherin gastric bypass surgery patients. Intestinal leaking may also occur. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery patients may experienced the andquot;Dumping Syndrome.andquot; This is when food moves too fast through the small intestine and the patient may experience nausea, cold sweat, dizzy and fainting spells, weakness and occasionally, even diarrhea. <br /><br /> Patients can opt for the either the traditional open surgery or laparoscopic sugery the latter being that there will be smaller scars as well as less down time since the bariatric weight loss surgery patient can recover faster. <br /><br /> As with any form of surgeries, patients must ask their surgeons which for of cosmetic surgery is best suited for them. Before a patient is committed to undergo a surgery, he must have tried other healthy means to lose weight. A weight loss surgery should always be the last option when all other efforts failed to help the patient to reduce weight. <bio>Chris Chew is the author of andquot;Burn Fat Build Muscles Fastandquot;. The operation is also perceived as being less invasive than the more commonly used Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure. <br /><br /> The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/laparoscopic+adjustable+gastric+banding" rel="tag">laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding</a> procedure is often called Lap-Band™ surgery, after the inflatable silicon band that divides the stomach, creating a very small stomach pouch with an adjustable opening to the rest of the stomach. The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/diameter" rel="tag">diameter</a> of the band is usually about two inches, but the surgeon can adjust its diameter by pumping saline into it from a reservoir implanted under the patient's skin. <br /><br /> When the band is in place, the stomach takes on an uneven hour-glass shape, with the smaller portion at the top. <br /><br /> Unlike the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, the Lap Band procedure does not reroute the upper intestine. Weight loss occurs solely because the size of the stomach is restricted. The adjustable band decreases the amount of food the patient can eat at one time, but does not otherwise interfere with the digestive process. <br /><br /> Because the procedure does not bypass any portion of the intestines, patients who have the gastric banding operation don't usually experience one of the Roux-en-Y operation's more uncomfortable side effects, the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dumping+syndrome" rel="tag">dumping syndrome</a>. After a Roux-en-Y <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+operation" rel="tag">gastric bypass operation</a> the patient is unable to eat sugary foods, and some patients are also unable to eat red meats and any food with high fat contents. When patients attempt to eat these foods they become nauseous and may vomit, making the experience extremely uncomfortable. <br /><br /> Since the lap band operation does not cause this side effect, post-operative patients are still able to eat the foods that originally led them to obesity, and for this reason long-term nutritional and behavioral counseling is usually recommended. <br /><br /> Gastric banding patients do not lose weight as quickly as patients who undergo the full gastric bypass procedure. This may be the reason why many U.S. surgeons prefer to offer the Roux-en-Y operation for their obese patients. Surgeons in Europe and Australia appear to show a preference for the less invasive <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lap+band+surgery" rel="tag">Lap Band surgery</a>, because it is usually safer. <br /><br /> Although weight loss is slower with the gastric banding procedure, after 3 to 5 years both gastric banding and gastric bypass patients show comparable weight loss, according to recent studies. <br /><br /> If no complications occur, a Lap Band patient can expect to go home in a day or two after the operation. This helps to reduce the total cost of the surgery, which may run around $14,000 to $18,000 if there are no complications, as opposed to the commonly quoted $35,000 to $40,000 that gastric bypass surgery will cost in the United States. <br /><br /> The Lap Band procedure is less invasive than gastric bypass, and there are fewer reported complications and deaths from this type of surgery. However, complications do occasionally occur, and a second operation is sometimes needed. A recent study that looked at the records of 300 gastric banding patients found a 5% complication rate, while other studies have found the rate of complications to be higher. Some patients will need a second operation due to band slippage or because the stomach pouch becomes dilated. <br /><br /> As with all patients who undergo rapid weight loss, gall stones are common, and long-term nutritional and behavioral counseling is needed for the best outcomes. <bio>If you want to know more about lap band surgery, the cost of gastric bypass, or the gastric bypass diet, visit <a href="http://www.1gastricbypass.com" >http://www.1gastricbypass.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Was your latest bout of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+flu" rel="tag">stomach flu</a> really the stomach flu? Or was it some other virus that found its way into your intestines? Kid get sick and throw up all the time -- is it always the stomach flu? Actually, it is probably not. It turns out that what most of us think of as the stomach flu is really something else, a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastrointestinal+virus" rel="tag">gastrointestinal virus</a>. The flu is actually a respiratory illness, everyone just thinks that the stomach flu is that horrible sickly <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/diarrhea" rel="tag">diarrhea</a>. Even some <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/doctors" rel="tag">doctors</a> have started calling it the flu, just so people know what they are talking about. <br /><br /> If you have children, then you probably know how much the stomach flu can affect them. In most cases the name of the virus that they actually have is the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rotavirus" rel="tag">Rotavirus</a>. This is especially common in small children. This is not the only thing that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Your child could be sick due to some <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/nasty+bacteria" rel="tag">nasty bacteria</a> that found its way in, or even parasites. If your child is ill for more than a couple of days or is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/running+a+fever" rel="tag">running a fever</a>, it is always better to be safe than sorry, and take your child to the doctor. <br /><br /> A lot of times parents don't want to call the doctor about the stomach flu, but it is okay to if you are worried. That is what doctors are for, to support you and let you know what is going on, so that you don't have to worry about it any more. <br /><br /> The notion that the stomach flu is only supposed to last a day or so is completely off the mark. Most people stay sick with the stomach flu for days -- even a week. It all depends on which kind of stomach flu you or your child gets, because some are just stronger and nastier than others. <br /><br /> Whatever you do when your child has the stomach flu, you need to keep him or her well-hydrated. Lots and lots of water is going to make the stomach flu go away that much sooner, and it is going to keep your child feeling better than they would without the fluids. This is even more important if your child has diarrhea. In this case, it can be downright dangerous if your son or daughter is not getting enough water. You may want to look into getting some Pediasure, as it has the electrolytes your child's body needs when it is dehydrated. <bio>Dorothy Brown writes articles for several web sites, including <a href="http://foraw.com" >http://foraw.com</a> and <a href="http://mowek.com" >http://mowek.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[How do you want to carry your baby? Many parents find using traditional <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+slings" rel="tag">baby slings</a> a little tedious because of the numerous straps, rings, or clasps associated with them. Typical hand-held <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+carriers" rel="tag">baby carriers</a> are bulky, heavier, and can be difficult to carry. If you're looking to cement parent-child bonding that continues throughout life without the challenge of rings and straps or difficulties of hand-held baby carriers, then native <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+pouches" rel="tag"><a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+pouch" rel="tag">baby pouch</a>es</a> may be your answer. Native baby pouches offer one of the most convenient and comfortable ways of bonding with your infant without the hassles of adjusting straps and rings.<br><br>Native baby pouches are extremely simplified <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+sling+carriers" rel="tag">baby sling carriers</a> because they come without any buckles, straps, or strings. If you find using slings cumbersome, then a baby pouch is the best option for you. All you have to do is put on the baby pouch, put your baby in it and you are ready to go. While this sounds exactly like a regular sling operation, it is much simpler because no strapping or adjustments are required. Putting on and placing your baby into a native baby pouch takes less than 20 seconds, which is something that can be a challenge for other types of slings and baby carriers.<br><br>Apart from being extremely easy to use, native baby pouches have a number of other advantages over other types of baby carriers. For one, these are made out of natural materials, and are available in 100% cotton variants -- denim and twill, et cetera. You can be sure that your baby's skin can breathe when you carry her in a cotton pouch. Parents will also feel more comfortable with these pouches without getting all hot and sweaty under the sling.<br><br>Another major advantage of baby pouches is that they are very compact to carry. Since these native baby pouches are made entirely out of cloth, you can fold them up and keep them in your purse or diaper bag. Because of the absence of metal and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/plastic+components" rel="tag">plastic components</a>, you can wash the baby pouch in your machine without harming either your machine or the sling. While native baby pouches often look very small when hung, do not worry whether they will be able to carry your baby or not, because they can carry children weighing up to 35 pounds.<br><br>There is one disadvantage associated with native baby pouches that you need to consider. Since native baby pouches do not come with any rings or buckles for adjustments, single baby pouch may not be suitable or comfortable for both parents to wear. Some manufacturers make native baby pouches in one size designed to comfortably support an "average" size person. If both you and your spouse are average size, then this should be not be an issue for you. However, if both parents are not average-sized individuals, then you may want to look for native baby pouches that are available in multiple sizes (often small, medium, and large) and purchase a baby pouch for each parent.<br><br>If you're looking for that close bonding that comes with baby slings and want an easy-to-use sling, take the time to research the native baby pouches that are readily available for your comfort.<bio>Learn more about <a href="http://www.bustlingbaby.com/baby-slings-carriers-native-baby-pouches.html">native baby pouches</a> available to parents at BustlingBaby.com and see why many parents prefer these sling carriers to other <a href="http://www.bustlingbaby.com/baby-slings-carriers.html">baby slings and carriers</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Patients that have a considerable amount of weight to lose often benefits from <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/weight+loss+surgery" rel="tag">weight loss surgery</a>. There are several different types of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/surgical+weight+loss" rel="tag">surgical weight loss</a> options than works for those who are morbidly obese. The biggest advantage of having weight loss surgery is that most patients are able to lose their excess weight over a couple of years and can keep most of the weight off. In addition, weight loss surgery can also help resolve a host of health problems related to obesity. <br /><br /> Before having weight loss surgery, a patient must qualify. A doctor that specializes in these types of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/surgeries" rel="tag">surgeries</a> will carefully consider each patient's case before making a decision. For the most part, those who are good candidates for these types of surgeries must be considered morbidly obese. <br /><br /> This means that they must be at least 100 pounds or more over their normal body weight or twice their recommended <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/body+mass+index" rel="tag">body mass index</a>. Patients who qualify for this surgery must be relatively healthy otherwise and not suffer from problems with the stomach, pancreas and intestines. <br /><br /> There are generally three types of weight loss surgery that are performed on overweight people. All of these surgeries either make the stomach capacity smaller by creating a new stomach pouch, or shortens the digestion tract by connecting the stomach to the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/large+intestines" rel="tag">large intestines</a> and completely bypassing the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/small+intestines" rel="tag">small intestines</a>. <br /><br /> The newer Lap-Band surgery makes a smaller stomach and is usually recommended because of the shorter recovery time and risks. In addition, the Lap-Band is often preferred because it is reversible and adjustable. Patients experience a more even paced rate of weight loss and are able to keep it off longer than with other surgical methods. <br /><br /> The Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass is a procedure that minimizes the amount of food that passes into the stomach. It also decreases the amount of food that is absorbed into the digestive system. The stomach is either stapled or sewn closed at the upper half creating a smaller stomach on top. The intestines are then connected to the smaller stomach and food passes directly from one are to another. <br /><br /> The initial advantages of this surgery are that there is rapid weight loss right after surgery. This surgery also has a higher success rate than other forms of weight loss surgery. However, the gastric bypass is often more invasive and recovery time is longer. The Vertical Banded Gastroplasty is a very similar surgery, but the stomach is stapled and the intestines are left intact. <br /><br /> The more extreme of the weight loss surgeries is called the Biliopancreatic Diversion. During this surgery, about three-fourths of the stomach is completely removed and the rest of the stomach is connected to the final segment of the small intestines. <br /><br /> There are several disadvantages to this approach including having a higher mortality rate; the dumping syndrome, more invasive and can lead to life long bone density loss and anemia. The advantages to this weight loss surgery are that it allows for larger meals and it presents patients with the greatest amount of initial weight loss. <bio>Visit <a href="http://www.Medopedia.com" >http://www.Medopedia.com</a> for information about adjustable gastric banding surgery. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[You wake up one morning and you decided that you have had enough of being obese! You have a very personal reason: a choice for change and a healthier you. <br /><br /> Whether you're considering weight-loss surgery and want to understand what's ahead, adapting to a new lifestyle following the procedure, or looking for non-surgical weight-loss tips, all the information is here. <br /><br /> Opting for weight-loss surgery is not an easy choice. To decide whether it's right for you, consider the facts of the procedure and the post-operative road you'll need to travel. <br /><br /> The challenges of dieting, exercise and even medications can seem daunting when trying to keep weight off. As a result, many have turned to weight-loss surgery as the best long-term option. But before making that difficult decision, questions need to be answered. <br /><br /> Which type of weight-loss surgery is right for you? What's involved in the procedure? Are there any risks associated with weight-loss surgery? In normal digestion, food passes through the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a> and enters the small intestine, where most of the nutrients and calories are absorbed. It then passes into the large intestine (colon), and the remaining waste is eventually excreted. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">Gastric bypass surgery</a> makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. You will feel full more quickly than when your stomach was its original size, which reduces the amount of food you eat and thus the calories consumed. Bypassing part of the intestine also results in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/fewer+calories" rel="tag">fewer calories</a> being absorbed. This leads to weight loss. <br /><br /> The most common gastric bypass surgery is a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. <br /><br /> In a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the stomach is made smaller by creating a small pouch at the top of the stomach using surgical staples or a plastic band. The smaller stomach is connected directly to the middle portion of the small intestine (jejunum), bypassing the rest of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine (duodenum). <br /><br /> This procedure can be done by making a large incision in the abdomen (an open procedure) or by making a small incision and using small instruments and a camera to guide the surgery (laparoscopic approach). <br /><br /> Male gender is a predictor of morbidity and age a predictor of mortality for patients undergoing gastric bypass surgery. Open gastric bypass surgery requires up to a 5-day stay. Laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery requires a hospital stay of 2-3 days. <bio>The most common surgery for obesity is Gastric Surgery. <content:encoded><![CDATA["Wearing" a baby has long been a tradition in many cultures. The mention of a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/native+american+mother" rel="tag">Native American mother</a> almost always conjures up an image of an industrious woman going about her work with her baby swaddled in a papoose wrapped around her back. This was then and is now a very practical way for a mother to accomplish all the many things she has to do in a day while maintaining closeness with her baby and keeping baby happy. Happy babies grow up into happy children and happy children grow into confident happy adults. Since the goal for most parents is to raise their children to become happy, confident adults, native <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+pouches" rel="tag"><a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/baby+pouch" rel="tag">baby pouch</a>es</a> are useful tools for this purpose.<br><br>Not only will wearing baby in a comfortable, easy-to-use baby carrier such as a native baby pouch make baby feel happier, mom will feel happier and less stressed as well. No longer will she be forced to choose between holding the baby and getting things done, whether those things are at home or out of the home. This is good news to the rest of the family as well since they also need time and attention from the adults in the home.<br><br>The uniqueness of native baby pouches as opposed to other types of baby carriers is that they come in different sizes rather than being adjustable with rings or other adjusting mechanisms such as loops, Velcro, drawstrings, or snaps. Native baby pouches are quite simple in their design. You just slip on the pouch, put the baby inside, and go about your business. This makes it a perfect choice for busy moms and those who prefer a no-fuss lifestyle. Native baby pouch wearers find that learning how to wear the pouch and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/place+baby" rel="tag">place baby</a> inside is a quick process, unlike some other more complicated carriers which take much time and practice to learn how to use. <br><br>While the pouches used by actual Native Americans generally were constructed using <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/animal+hides" rel="tag">animal hides</a>, the baby pouches of today come in a variety of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/soft+fabrics" rel="tag">soft fabrics</a> and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/fashionable+colors" rel="tag">fashionable colors</a>, and these fabrics are easily kept clean as well.<br><br>Another great advantage to this type of baby carrier is that it comes up high on one shoulder and drapes down under mom's other side. This makes it safe and comfortable for mom to bend over and also provides some privacy if mom needs to nurse baby while out of the home. <br><br>There are many rewards for a baby in a native baby pouch as well. Many studies have shown babies in carriers such as the native baby pouch or ring sling spend less time being fussy and more time absorbing their environment. This is because they are more able to achieve what is known as the quiet alert state while in native baby pouches. This state promotes the ability and time willing to learn. This makes for happier babies, parents and siblings!<br><br>Having babies is a natural part of life and a native baby pouch can help make taking care of baby while maintaining a busy life feel more natural as well.<bio>Learn more about <a href="http://www.bustlingbaby.com/baby-slings-carriers-native-baby-pouches.html">native baby pouches</a> and find out why a <a href="http://www.bustlingbaby.com/baby-slings-carriers-native-baby-pouches.html">native baby pouch</a> may be the best choice for your child.David Cummings is General Manager of Bustling Baby, a business devoted to providing baby mobility, comfort, and convenience to active families.</bio>]]></content:encoded>
