<content:encoded><![CDATA[Was your latest bout of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+flu" rel="tag">stomach flu</a> really the stomach flu? Or was it some other virus that found its way into your intestines? Kid get sick and throw up all the time -- is it always the stomach flu? Actually, it is probably not. It turns out that what most of us think of as the stomach flu is really something else, a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastrointestinal+virus" rel="tag">gastrointestinal virus</a>. The flu is actually a respiratory illness, everyone just thinks that the stomach flu is that horrible sickly <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/diarrhea" rel="tag">diarrhea</a>. Even some <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/doctors" rel="tag">doctors</a> have started calling it the flu, just so people know what they are talking about. <br /><br /> If you have children, then you probably know how much the stomach flu can affect them. In most cases the name of the virus that they actually have is the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rotavirus" rel="tag">Rotavirus</a>. This is especially common in small children. This is not the only thing that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Your child could be sick due to some <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/nasty+bacteria" rel="tag">nasty bacteria</a> that found its way in, or even parasites. If your child is ill for more than a couple of days or is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/running+a+fever" rel="tag">running a fever</a>, it is always better to be safe than sorry, and take your child to the doctor. <br /><br /> A lot of times parents don't want to call the doctor about the stomach flu, but it is okay to if you are worried. That is what doctors are for, to support you and let you know what is going on, so that you don't have to worry about it any more. <br /><br /> The notion that the stomach flu is only supposed to last a day or so is completely off the mark. Most people stay sick with the stomach flu for days -- even a week. It all depends on which kind of stomach flu you or your child gets, because some are just stronger and nastier than others. <br /><br /> Whatever you do when your child has the stomach flu, you need to keep him or her well-hydrated. Lots and lots of water is going to make the stomach flu go away that much sooner, and it is going to keep your child feeling better than they would without the fluids. This is even more important if your child has diarrhea. In this case, it can be downright dangerous if your son or daughter is not getting enough water. You may want to look into getting some Pediasure, as it has the electrolytes your child's body needs when it is dehydrated. <bio>Dorothy Brown writes articles for several web sites, including <a href="http://foraw.com" >http://foraw.com</a> and <a href="http://mowek.com" >http://mowek.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Our <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a> is one of the parts of the body that receives the harshest treatment and the least appreciation. Think about it. When is the last time you were really thankful that your stomach was working properly? Perhaps it takes seeing a friend or family member who has a rough stomach for us to really be grateful for our stomach health. But it shouldn't. We should be consistently treating our stomach with care so that it can do it's job well without causing us pain. <br /><br /> Being good to your stomach can be simple. Maybe you are already making <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/wise+choices" rel="tag">wise choices</a> for your stomach or perhaps you will have to make some severe <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lifestyle+changes" rel="tag">lifestyle changes</a> in order to really be good to your stomach. Whatever it requires, you should commit to being good to your stomach from this point forward. <br /><br /> What does it mean to be good to your stomach? Basically, to be good to your stomach means watching the things you put into it and the things you do. Surely everyone has experienced the pain of eating a meal that is too spicy or too greasy or too full of acid. Our <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomachs" rel="tag">stomachs</a> do so much in the process of breaking down our <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/food+choices" rel="tag">food choices</a>. Many times our stomachs are able to cover up some of our eating "sins," but other times they let us know that we have made a poor choice. I'm convinced that we owe it to our stomachs (not to mention to the rest of our bodies) to make <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/healthy+eating" rel="tag">healthy eating</a> choices that are easy on our bodies and good for our health. <br /><br /> Take some time to evaluate the things you are putting into your stomach each day. Are you being kind or harsh? Do you notice any patterns that could perhaps be harmful to your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/digestive+system" rel="tag">digestive system</a>? If so, consider changing them. You only have one stomach, and therefore it requires your upmost attention and care. Different stomachs have different levels of tolerance for spices, acids, and foods. You may not be able to eat everything your neighbor or even your spouse can eat. It is important that you learn, if you haven't already, what is good for you and stick to it. <br /><br /> The great thing about learning to eat based on the reaction of your stomach is that you will end up making good choices not only for your stomach but also for the rest of your body. The chances are high that what is good for your stomach will also benefit your body and your overall health. So be intentional about what you eat and drink and don't hesitate to pass up things that aren't good for you or your stomach. <bio>Rachael Cleipher has learned some stomach lessons the hard way. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Even after having a stomach stapling only about thirty percent of patients will achieve their <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ideal+weight" rel="tag">ideal weight</a> as categorized by the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/body+mass+index" rel="tag">body mass index</a>. This goes to show that stomach stapling is a last resort measure intended to save your life, not make you look superstar thin. Althought there are some patients who achieve this after they have their stomach stapling. If you work out and stick to your new diet you have every chance of being one of that thirty percent. <br /><br /> On the up side eighty percent of those that undergoe <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+stapling+surgery" rel="tag">stomach stapling surgery</a> lose weight. This is the reason stomach stapling is widely used and considered effective. People that couldn't lose weight for years prior to the surgery finally begin to see results after having their stomach stapling. On average the patients who have surgery lose about sixty percent of their overall previous body weight. For many this is the lifesaver. They are still considered overweight according to their <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bmi" rel="tag">BMI</a> but they are healthy, able to move around and often find that they lose previous medical problems. These problems can be, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/high+cholesterol" rel="tag">high cholesterol</a>, and muscle and joint pain. <br /><br /> Though you should remember that a portion of those that underwent a stomach stapling and lost excess weight regained that weight in three to five years of their surgery. This is likely due to falling back on old dietary habits, such as eating high calorie foods, and returning to a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/sedentary+lifestyle" rel="tag">sedentary lifestyle</a>. Stomach stapling may not always work and give the patient good results. If a patient doesn't continue to follow or use their dietary guidelines that their doctor or nutritionist provides they will regain weight. The stomach stapling is a tool that's part of what you need in order to change your life. This is an important <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/thing+to+remember" rel="tag">thing to remember</a> when considering stomach stapling surgery. <bio>Read more <a href="<a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.info">http://www.stomach-stapling.info.</a>/sitemap.html"><a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.info">http://www.stomach-stapling.info.</a>/sitemap.html</a> and <a href="<a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.info">http://www.stomach-stapling.info.</a>/stomach-stapling-info-index.htm"><a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.info">http://www.stomach-stapling.info.</a>/stomach-stapling-info-index.htm</a> or visit our <a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.info">http://www.stomach-stapling.info.</a>. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[After you have your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+stapling+surgery" rel="tag">stomach stapling surgery</a> your surgeon or doctor may have told you that you will lose weight at a fairly rapid pace. Many find that they lose their weight within the first year. The years after this may find them losing some weight, but it will mainly be their job to simply maintain the new body weight that they've achieved. <br /><br /> The stomach stapling surgery does come with many risks and complications. You could develop an infection. You could actually die. About one half to one percent of all stomach stapling patients die during or after the surgery. Plus there is the chance that you may need to have surgery at a later date in order to fix a complication that has come up. Sometimes the bands around the stomach slip or wear through the stomach lining. Sometimes the patients <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/staples" rel="tag">staples</a> tear lose and need to be replaced. <br /><br /> Also due to your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/rapid+weight+loss" rel="tag">rapid weight loss</a> after years of being obese you may find that your skin begins to hang down on your body. There may be a lot or a little bit of sagging skin depending of a variety of factors. Your speed of weight loss. Whether or not you are being very active. Your age can even affect this. If you are younger your skin will have an easier time shrinking and will thus shrink faster than if you are older. <br /><br /> Most people with loose skin will find that their skin shrinks back eventually though it may take up to a year. Sometimes it becomes very inconvinent and uncomfortable for people and they look into skin removal surgery. <br /><br /> Skin removal surgery is sometimes referred to as '<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/body+contouring" rel="tag">body contouring</a>' or 'body lift' surgery and involves the removal of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/excess+skin" rel="tag">excess skin</a> hanging down from your body, which can leave scars but this is othen considered an easy trade. <bio>Read more <a href="<a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/org" rel="tag">org</a>">http://www.stomach-stapling.org.</a>/sitemap.html"><a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.org">http://www.stomach-stapling.org.</a>/sitemap.html</a> and v or visit our <a href="http://www.stomach-stapling.org">http://www.stomach-stapling.org.</a>. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Heartburn on overdrive! <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+disease" rel="tag">Acid reflux disease</a> is a result of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+acid" rel="tag">stomach acid</a> that simply doesn't stay where it is supposed to... in the stomach. Instead of staying in the stomach the wayward gastric acid decides to back flow up the esophagus and back into the mouth. <br /><br /> Yuck! <br /><br /> Leaving a wickedly bitter taste, this stomach acid on a reverse course can actually leaves pockets of erosive destruction in its wake. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/erosive+esophagitis" rel="tag">Erosive esophagitis</a> is a result of the destruction of the lining of the esophagus. <br /><br /> At least three months of painful, persistent and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/frequent+heartburn" rel="tag">frequent heartburn</a>, can earn you a diagnosis of acid reflux disease. <br /><br /> Heartburn is the quiet gentle cousin of its more aggressive and destructive family member acid reflux disease. Bubbling stomach acid regurgitates from the stomach sending the gastric juices back into the throat via the esophagus. It is the bubbling stomach acid that backs up into the esophagus that causes the characteristic burn of acid reflux disease. <br /><br /> The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lower+esophageal+sphincter" rel="tag">lower esophageal sphincter</a>, LES, is the valve separating the esophagus and the stomach, is designed to be the gatekeeper of the stomach and is meant to keep the stomach acids in the stomach where they belong. <br /><br /> However, when the LES fails at its ever so well designed job, the stomach acids back flow. <br /><br /> The LES can fail through a couple of different ways, such as through relaxation of the sphincter, often associated with a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hiatal+hernia" rel="tag">hiatal hernia</a>, and through incomplete closing of the sphincter. <br /><br /> The body is so perfectly designed that the LES is a working valve that opens to let food into the stomach and is meant to close to keep the acids out of the esophagus. <br /><br /> It just happens that when it fails, acid reflux disease or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastroesophageal+reflux+disease" rel="tag">gastroesophageal reflux disease</a>, GERD, can be the result. So basically if the LES would do its job and keep the valve open when it's supposed to be open and closed when it's supposed to be closed then acid reflux disease would really be a thing of the past! <br /><br /> The good news is that you don't have to put up with heartburn on overdrive. There are many treatment options available for the relief of this pestering and chronic disease. <br /><br /> Acid reflux disease doesn't have to control your life! Talk with your healthcare provider today and get started on the road to better health. <br /><br /> Show that heartburn just who's the boss! <bio>For more important information on <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a> visit a-stomach-pain.com where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/flx/acid-reflux.html" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/flx/acid-reflux.html</a>, ulcers, and other articles. </bio>]]></content:encoded>

However, when stomach and back pain are combined, never ignore the symptoms. When stomach and back pain occur together, it could mean a number of things. It may be due to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/digestion+problems" rel="tag">digestion problems</a>, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux" rel="tag">acid reflux</a>, or nerve damage. If you do encounter both together, don't <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hesitate" rel="tag">hesitate</a> to see a doctor immediately. <br /><br /> When you see your doctor, he or she will want to know about the pain you're experiencing. Explain the pain exactly as you feel it. Is it a sharp pain, as if someone were jabbing you with a sharp stick, or is it a dull, recurring pain? Does the pain get worse when you sneeze or cough, does it keep you from sleeping, or does your stomach and back pain go away and come back with any kind of regularity? These are just a few of the questions your doctor will ask before examining you. The doctor will determine if the problem is minor, such as digestion problems or more serious, such as nerve damage, which could require surgery. <br /><br /> Stomach and back pain, especially when they occur together, should not be ignored. When you feel pain such as this, it usually means there's something going on inside and the pain is the only way to alert you about the problem. Your doctor is the one who should make the diagnosis, however, so it's important not to try any alternate treatment.Let your doctor examine your stomach and back pain as soon as it occurs, for you don't want to <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/exacerbate" rel="tag">exacerbate</a> it by waiting too long. <br /><br /> For more Information check <a href="http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info" >http://www.arthritisreliefhelp.info</a> <bio>Roger Thompson writes articles on arthritis and pain relief for <a href="http://arthritisrelief.info" >http://arthritisrelief.info</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Affecting millions of Americans each year, a stomach ulcer is a raw, open area in the normal lining of the stomach. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcers" rel="tag">Stomach ulcers</a> get their particular name depending on the exact location of the ulcer. For example, a duodenal or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peptic+ulcer" rel="tag">peptic ulcer</a> is a stomach ulcer found in the first foot of small intestines past the stomach. A <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+ulcer" rel="tag">gastric ulcer</a> in located inside the stomach itself. Although duodenal or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peptic+ulcers" rel="tag">peptic ulcers</a> are almost always benign, it is important to remember that gastric or stomach ulcers can be malignant. Close medical management is critical. <br /><br /> A protective layer of mucus producing cells prevent the stomach from being destroyed by normal digestive juices and stomach acids. However, when there is a break in that protective layer trouble can occur. A stomach ulcer occurs when the gastric or intestinal mucosal lining of the stomach is destroyed by hydrochloric acid, an acid which is normally present in the digestive juices of the stomach. <br /><br /> Another cause of ulcers, particularly gastric and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/duodenal+ulcers" rel="tag">duodenal ulcers</a>, can be a bacterial infection known as Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori. The helicobacter pylori bacterium may be transmitted from person to person through contaminated food and water and is treated with antibiotics. <br /><br /> One of the major <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/symptoms+of+a+stomach+ulcer" rel="tag">symptoms of a stomach ulcer</a> is pain, more specifically pain that feels much like a gnawing or burning pain in the middle upper abdomen often occurring some two to three hours after a meal. Often this pain is mistaken for heartburn or even hunger. Pain from a stomach ulcer may awaken you at night and may be relieved with food or milk. <br /><br /> Stomach ulcers are treated with prescription strength medications designed to reduce stomach acid, to protect the stomach lining and to treat the H. pylori bacteria, if it is present. <br /><br /> There are several medications that are commonly used to treat stomach ulcers. If the intent is to reduce stomach acid, then your physician may prescribe medications such as H2-Receptor antagonists like Nizatidine (Axid®), Cimetidine (Tagamet®), Ranitidine (Zantac®), or Famotidine (Pepcid®). Also used to reduce stomach acids are medications called Proton pump inhibitors. These types of medications include Omeprazole (Prilosec®), Esomeprazole (Nexium®), Lansoprazole (Prevacid®), or Pantoprazole (Pantoloc®). Medications used to protect the lining of the stomach include over-the-counter medications such as Rolaids or Tums or medications such as sucralfate, which forms a protective barrier over the site of the ulcer to help it to heal. <br /><br /> Stomach ulcers are certainly painful and can lead to additional complications such as bleeding. They require aggressive treatment directed by your healthcare provider in order to resolve the current ulcer and attempt to prevent future recurrences. <bio>For more important information on stomach pain be sure to visit <a href="http://a-stomach-pain.com" >http://a-stomach-pain.com</a> where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as acid stomach ulcer, Crohn's disease, and other articles that you can view at <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ While there are a variety of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcer+symptoms" rel="tag">stomach ulcer symptoms</a> experienced by many, this common disease attacks millions of Americans each and every year. <br /><br /> The stomach ulcer often presents itself in folks that take anti-inflammatory medications, smoke or drink alcohol. There is still some controversy as to whether stress causes <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcers" rel="tag">stomach ulcers</a> or not. <br /><br /> The wicked stomach ulcer often presents as a burning, gnawing sensation in the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pit+of+the+stomach" rel="tag">pit of the stomach</a> that can last for up to three hours. <br /><br /> Many of those who experience this phenomenon mistakenly think it is nothing more than hunger pains, heartburn or even basic indigestion. Unfortunately this can often cause patients to delay seeking treatment since they brush it off as basic health issues and nothing more. <br /><br /> Stomach <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ulcer+pain" rel="tag">ulcer pain</a> often occurs after a meal, is located in the upper abdomen and is often relieved by resting, taking antacids or having a small drink of milk. Weight loss may even be seen in those suffering extensively from a stomach ulcer since they actually avoid eating in hopes of avoiding pain. <br /><br /> Nausea and vomiting may also be seen for <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/those+suffering+from" rel="tag">those suffering from</a> stomach ulcers. You might also see black, tarry stools or stools containing dark red blood. This is an indication that your stomach ulcer is bleeding and this is a serious health complication and may require abdominal surgery. <br /><br /> Stomach ulcer symptoms may be treated with basic antacids or an even stronger medication, which requires a prescription. Stomach ulcer medications such as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/protonix" rel="tag">Protonix</a> can actually help to reduce the acid production in your stomach and many find it useful in the treatment of stomach ulcers. <br /><br /> This is not a health issue which you can ignore since the stomach ulcer can literally erode the protective lining of the stomach. Some times your physician may prescribe a medication which forms a protective barrier over the lining of your stomach and gives your stomach ulcer a chance to heal. <br /><br /> When trying to recover your health, it is important that you take the time to eat balanced nutritious meals, limit your alcohol, tobacco usage and caffeine intake, as well as anti-inflammatory medications if at all possible. <br /><br /> There are several medical tests that your physician may utilize in order to definitively diagnose your stomach ulcer. It is important to have a diagnosis that is based on solid evidence so that you can get the treatment you need. <br /><br /> Your health depends on it and it is ridiculous to ignore the stomach ulcer symptoms you are enduring. Talk with your physician to see what help is available to you. Here's to better healthy days and stomach ulcers that heal. <bio>For more important information on health topics sure to visit <a href="http://www.the-health-hub.com" >http://www.the-health-hub.com</a> where you will find information and resources on personal health such as aches and pains, conditions and diseases, diet and nutrition, fitness and many other articles that you can view at <a href="http://the-health-hub.com" >http://the-health-hub.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Signs of a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcer" rel="tag">stomach ulcer</a> can include nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain just beneath the ribcage, indigestion, vomiting, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/symptoms+of+anemia" rel="tag">symptoms of anemia</a>, weight loss, and blood present in vomit or bowel movements. <br /><br /> If you experience these symptoms for any length of time, it is important to seek medical attention. These are not symptoms to be ignored. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcers" rel="tag">Stomach ulcers</a> occur when there is a break in the tissue lining of the stomach. These ulcers normally occur in the stomach or the first part of the small intestine that leads out of the stomach, called the duodenum. <br /><br /> Commonly stomach ulcers are related to extreme stress, smoking and diet. Any of which are factors over which we have control, making it possible to heal a ulcer; if you work to eliminate some of the contributing factors that can lead to the development. <br /><br /> If you begin noticing the signs of a stomach ulcer, these signs should not be ignored. In fact, an appointment with your doctor should be your course of action if these symptoms persist. <br /><br /> In order for your doctor to make a specific diagnosis, several tests may be ordered to help determine the exact cause of your stomach pain. <br /><br /> One of the first tests your physician may order is the barium swallow or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/upper+gi+series" rel="tag">upper GI series</a> of X-rays. This test allows your doctor to identify and locate any ulcers and determine its type and severity. <br /><br /> The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/barium+swallow+test" rel="tag">barium swallow test</a> requires you to drink a "<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/barium+milkshake" rel="tag">barium milkshake</a>." This thick "shake" contains a liquid that will light up on an x-ray. The barium will light up on the x-ray making it easier for your physician to see exactly what is going on and causing your pain. <br /><br /> You are normally asked to eat only bland, easily digestible foods for two or three days before the test. After drinking the chalky liquid, you will be asked to lie down on a tilting examining table, which as it tilts, evenly distributes the barium around your upper digestive tract and allows the x-ray to capture images at different angles. <br /><br /> Treatment options for stomach ulcers can consist of over the counter medications, prescription medications, modifying your diet, perhaps a lifestyle change that includes the addition of exercise and reduction of stress, and as a last result, surgery. <br /><br /> In summary, any signs of stomach ulcers should not be ignored as the delay in diagnosis and treatment could lead to further complications. It is important to understand, however, that in many cases you have control over the factors that contribute to stomach ulcers. <bio>For more important information on <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[You can't get great abs just by exercising your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+muscles" rel="tag">stomach muscles</a>. There is a lot of misinformation about what you need to do to get that <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/flat+stomach" rel="tag">flat stomach</a> that you want. First, you have to know what it takes to get the results you want. You also need to know why you might be more likely to collect those rolls of flab around your belly than your friends are. Once you understand these things, you can choose and use a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+exercise" rel="tag">stomach exercise</a> that will really work for you. <br /><br /> There are several benefits associated with <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+exercises" rel="tag">stomach exercises</a> beyond getting a flat belly or a six-pack of abs. For example, doing <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/regular+stomach" rel="tag">regular stomach</a> exercises helps your body to attain a better posture because your muscles will be stronger. Also, you'll probably notice that your lower back will be more flexible, and your digestion will improve through regular stomach exercise as well. <br /><br /> By performing a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/regular+exercise+routine" rel="tag">regular exercise routine</a>, you'll enjoy life more because you'll be more active and able to participate. Your body will feel better, and your mental abilities will also be stimulated, and your thinking abilities will improve. You need to be dedicated to a regular exercise routine to get these benefits, however. If you're trying to lose weight, for example, you won't see any improvement if you don't take the time to tone up your stomach muscles. <br /><br /> It's important to stay motivated. Don't get discouraged. It takes time and patience to firm up a flabby belly. And consider that there might be other factors that impact your efforts. If you're a woman in menopause, your body will collect fat along your waistline due to the lack of estrogen. Even with regular stomach exercise, it will be a struggle to rid yourself of this fat. Your specific genetic makeup also has an influence on your ability to have a flat stomach. If you are under a lot of stress, the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hormone+cortisol" rel="tag">hormone cortisol</a> makes your body produce more sugar, and it makes you eat more too. Additionally, diseases such as diabetes can cause weight gain, and doing stomach exercises alone won't get rid of the fat around your mid-section. <br /><br /> If you're starting an exercise routine to decrease your excess fat, it's important to focus on the lower abs first because this area is the most difficult to strengthen and tone. The upper abs will tone and tighten naturally as the lower abs become stronger. You should also recognize that your weight didn't increase overnight. You can lose excess weight and fat, but only if you perform stomach exercises as part of a total lifestyle change. <br /><br /> Go ahead and take the challenge! Try for the body you've always wanted. You'll feel good about yourself for making the effort. <bio>Discover more articles about fitness and exercise by visiting <a href="http://www.speediefitness.com" >http://www.speediefitness.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ You've had your baby and now you have to deal with your post <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pregnancy" rel="tag">pregnancy</a> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach" rel="tag">stomach</a>. If you feel like running from the sight of it in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/despair" rel="tag">despair</a>, not to worry, you are not the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/first+woman" rel="tag">first woman</a> to feel so, nor will you be the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/last+woman" rel="tag">last woman</a> to feel like this. <br /><br /> Many of us find it extremely hard to come to terms with the fact that we will never again look the way we did when we were sixteen, with a flat, if not firm stomach. <br /><br /> Unless we begin to do something now, we will more than likely go around with the slightly sagging pouch that is our post pregnancy stomach. This can be a truly terrifying thought. What about our jeans and our lovely skirts and things that used to fit us? <br /><br /> What about all those <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/midriff" rel="tag">midriff</a> baring, hip hugging clothes that filled our closets before pregnancy? What happens to all of these? Well, for one thing, you can probably throw those out the window as they will all more or less be out of fashion by the time that you regain your figure back, including your soft post pregnancy stomach. <br /><br /> You can get your figure back, there's no two words about that, you just need the time, and the right weight loss plan to do this. <br /><br /> If all of this seems shallow to some people, it really isn't. There is simply nothing more <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/disheartening" rel="tag">disheartening</a> to a woman's self esteem than not looking her healthy best. This doesn't mean that you need to lose enormous amounts of weight, only that you need to get yourself to a level where you are comfortable with your body. <br /><br /> If you are comfortable with the womanly swell that is your post pregnancy stomach, then think no more about it. Be proud of yourself and don't be afraid to let people know that you are proud of yourself. All that really matters is not what your post pregnancy stomach looks like, or what other people think you like, but what you think of yourself, and whether you are comfortable with it. <br /><br /> Most of us today though, would probably prefer to be somewhere in the weight range that we were before we became pregnant, and this is also fine, as long as this is what you truly want, and not what you perceive other people to expect from you. <br /><br /> You need to decide whether you want to keep your post pregnancy stomach, or whether you want washboard abs to go with those hip hugging jeans you love so much. It's really as simple as that. <bio>Author's Sites: <a href="http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pregnancy_weight_loss/index.html" >http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pregnancy_weight_loss/index.html</a> , <a href="http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/home_remedy_for_vaginal_infections.html" >http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/home_remedy_for_vaginal_infections.html</a><br /><br /> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Stomach pain that is associated with ulcers knows no boundaries. They are capable of afflicting any age, and either gender at any time. <br /><br /> Although generally not initially considered a serious health condition, ulcers certainly should not go untreated. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peptic+ulcer" rel="tag">Peptic ulcer</a>s are lesions located in the stomach, the esophagus, or the duodenum that left untreated can lead to very serious complications such as a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/perforated+ulcer" rel="tag">perforated ulcer</a> or even a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bleeding+ulcer" rel="tag">bleeding ulcer</a> that could become life threatening. <br /><br /> Essentially what happens with an ulcer is the thin protective mucus lining that protects the intestinal lining breaks down and allows bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori to attack the tissue and cause a sore to develop. So, the combination of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/helicobacter+pylori+bacteria" rel="tag">Helicobacter Pylori bacteria</a> and natural stomach acids set the stage for a peptic ulcer to develop. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcer" rel="tag">Stomach ulcer</a>s are extremely common in today's society. Each year millions of Americans are diagnosed with some form and severity of an ulcer - with research indicating that smoking, caffeine, and alcohol consumption certainly being heavy contributors to this disorder. <br /><br /> The warning signs of the onset of an ulcer are a sharp burning sensation in your stomach and even up into your esophagus. Many times the pain will surface at some time after a meal. Remember, consuming food will trigger digestive fluids (acids) that will come in contact with the sore (ulcer) and begin causing some level of discomfort and pain. <br /><br /> Over the counter relief in the form of antacids have long been the choices for temporary relief from the pain of a stomach ulcer. Although the antacids can help neutralize the acidic fluids that your body naturally produces and provide some relief, be advised that these same antacids can also affect the absorption of other medications. Because of this make sure you consult with your doctor before you consider embarking on any self treatment program. <br /><br /> Ulcers are no different from any other chronic or persistent pain you may being experiencing. If this is the case with your stomach pain, see your doctor. Certainly the passing of blood through a bowel movement is a huge red flag (that could be a symptom several health problems) that you should address immediately. <br /><br /> Regardless, of what you think may or may not be causing your stomach pain, take the time early to consult with your doctor. Today, the vast majority of ulcers does not require any type of invasive medical procedure and can be controlled or even eliminated through diet or doctor prescribed medication. But the key is early evaluation and diagnosis. <bio>For more important information on <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+symptoms" rel="tag">Acid reflux symptoms</a> include persistent heartburn and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+acid" rel="tag">stomach acid</a> regurgitation. It is possible to have acid reflux without heartburn. In this case, you would experience pain in your chest, a hoarse throat in the morning or have trouble swallowing. You may feel that there is food stuck in your throat or you feel that you are choking and your throat is tight. Acid reflux can also can bad breath and a dry cough. <br /><br /> When your stomach acid splashes up from the stomach into the esophagus, you get the burning pain associated with acid reflux. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. Stomach acid helps to digest the food you eat. The acid in your stomach is hydrochloric acid, which helps to prevent bacteria from growing in your stomach and intestines. The <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+lining" rel="tag">stomach lining</a> prevents the hydrochloric acid from damaging your stomach. <br /><br /> Various treatments for acid reflux range from medicine to non-surgical procedures. <br /><br /> Medicines include over the counter treatments such as antacids. These tablets are to be ingested 30 to 60 minutes after eating a meal and before going to bed. Liquid antacids are preferable to tablets. The best liquids include Maalox II, Mylanta II, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gelusil" rel="tag">Gelusil</a> II and Extra Strength Riopan. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gaviscon" rel="tag">Gaviscon</a> and Algicon are tablets that place a layer of foam over the stomach acid to prevent acid reflux. You should chew these tablets well and take them 30 to 60 minutes after eating and at bedtime. <br /><br /> There are other drugs available now that reduce and even eliminate the secretion of stomach acid and strengthens the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) muscle. Some of these strong drugs are <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/reglan" rel="tag">Reglan</a> and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/urecholine" rel="tag">Urecholine</a>. However, these types of acid reflux drugs have adverse side effects. A drug called Propulsid was taken off the market due to its cardiac side effects. <br /><br /> Surgery is a last resort. The type of surgery to treat acid reflux is Endoscopic Surgery. However, before it is determined that the person needs surgery, the patient must undergo a series of tests assessing nonacid and acid reflux. The surgery strengthens the LES muscle. Successful surgery relieves and corrects severe acid reflux. <br /><br /> In conclusion, these acid reflux symptoms and treatments are provided as a guide to those who feel they may have acid reflux. It is always best to consult your Doctor before trying any treatments. <bio>Thomas D. Houser <a href="http://www.acidcurereflux.com" >http://www.acidcurereflux.com</a> </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Caused by damage to the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/vagus+nerve" rel="tag">vagus nerve</a>, which regulates the digestive system, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastroparesis" rel="tag">Gastroparesis</a> is a condition in which the stomach in incapable of completely emptying food in a normal manner. <br /><br /> Because of the damage to the vagus nerve, which regulates the digestive system, the muscles in the stomach and in the intestine work improperly and with this malfunction keep the food from moving through properly the gastrointestinal system. <br /><br /><br /><br /> With this disorder there is no evidence of an obstruction or other occlusion of the stomach which could be the cause of the delayed emptying of food contents.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Gastroparesis is caused by uncontrolled diabetes, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/uncontrolled+hypertension" rel="tag">uncontrolled hypertension</a>, or gastric surgery with injury to the vagus nerve. However, in approximately 60% of the cases, there is no definite cause of Gastroparesis.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Heartburn, GERD, nausea, vomiting, vague stomach pains, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/abdominal+bloating" rel="tag">abdominal bloating</a>, weight loss, vomiting undigested food and feeling full very quickly when eating even after just a few bites are some of the primary symptoms of Gastroparesis.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Gastroparesis is a chronic condition and current treatment typically does not cure the disease. <br /><br /> However there are several options available to help better manage this condition. The treatment of Gastroparesis is dependent on the severity and life-impact of the symptoms.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Easy to implement treatment options include dietary changes of eating several small meals each day instead of three large meals which allows your stomach to empty the smaller meals more quickly.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Also, the diet of choice should be one lower in fiber, fat and roughage. Often liquid meals or softer foods are better than solid foods for those with Gastroparesis.<br /><br /><br /><br /> Certain medications may also be employed in order to help with stomach emptying. One of the more commonly used medications is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/metoclopramide" rel="tag">metoclopramide</a> or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/reglan" rel="tag">Reglan</a>®. However, medication often has dose-limiting side effects that may cause a patient to decide to stop taking it after a short while. <br /><br /> Another medication, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/erythromycin" rel="tag">Erythromycin</a>, an antibiotic, is also used to speed up stomach emptying. Anti-emetics designed to control the nausea and vomiting associated with Gastroparesis may also be used.<br /><br /><br /><br /> This chronic condition can be difficult to manage and to control the symptoms. Working closely with a healthcare provider is the key to finding the combination of treatments that will work best.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ There is more to gastric bypass than merely controlling stomach size. During <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastric+bypass+surgery" rel="tag">gastric bypass surgery</a>, a large portion of the patients stomach is stapled together, leaving a tiny pouch. <br /><br /> When you get your gastric bypass surgery you will have a new stomach that only holds about three tablespoons of food at a time. With your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+pouch" rel="tag">stomach pouch</a> reduced to the size of a walnut, you'll need to follow a gastric bypass diet. <br /><br /> The surgeon does not remove any part of the stomach or other tissue while doing the gastric bypass operation. This operation is the most common gastric bypass procedure performed. In another more complicated gastric bypass operation, portions of the stomach are removed. In this more complicated gastric bypass operation, portions of the stomach are removed. This is a relatively complex operation. It is recommended against having it reversed. <br /><br /> Results from long-term follow-up data of gastric bypass surgery show that over a five-year period, patients lost 58% of their excess weight. <br /><br /> Eating sweet or sugary foods promotes "dumping," a reaction which can occur after the gastric bypass operation. <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/dumping+syndrome" rel="tag">Dumping syndrome</a> occurs when the small intestine fills too quickly with undigested food from the stomach, as can happen following gastric bypass surgery. <br /><br /> Other commonly seen complications of gastric bypass surgery include intolerance to some foods, vitamin and mineral deficiency, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gallstones" rel="tag">gallstones</a>, bleeding <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcers" rel="tag">stomach ulcers</a>, hernia and dehydration. The most important of all, given that gastric bypass patients have a new, tiny stomach to fill is diet. <br /><br /> Another recent problem which is fairly common, especially in menstruating women, after gastric bypass, is <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/anemia" rel="tag">anemia</a>. Because many nutrients are not absorbed by the body after gastric bypass, anemia can be a long-term effect. Due to the changes in digestion after gastric bypass surgery, patients may develop such nutritional deficiencies as anemia, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/osteoporosis" rel="tag">osteoporosis</a>, and metabolic bone disease. <br /><br /> The gastric bypass operation reduces the progression and mortality of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. However, this complication only occurs to a very small degree in the gastric bypass operation. One of biggest advancements in the gastric bypass operation has been the technique used to enter into the abdomen through the laparoscopic approach. <br /><br /> Gastric bypass surgery creates dramatic changes in the size and shape of the stomach. Barely 16 months after gastric bypass surgery, which reduced your stomach to the size of a hard-boiled egg, a patient is able to shed 185 pounds. <bio>The most common surgery for obesity is Gastric Bypass. <content:encoded><![CDATA[A <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peptic+ulcer" rel="tag">peptic ulcer</a> is a condition is which a lesion or open sore develops within the stomach lining because the natural protective lining of the <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/digestive+tract" rel="tag">digestive tract</a> has been broken down. <br /><br /> A <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+ulcer" rel="tag">stomach ulcer</a> is a very well know term that most of us have heard of. Contrary to popular belief it is not spicy food that actually causes the peptic ulcer, rather the condition is brought on by a particular type of bacteria. <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/peptic+ulcers" rel="tag">Peptic ulcers</a> gain momentum in you digestive tract primarily due to an insufficient supply or production of mucus. Mucus is your body's natural coating of your its tissue that offers protection. Also, your body may not be producing natural bicarbonates that are chemically the opposite of acid (in this case your natural stomach acids) that help neutralize the effects of your natural stomach acids. <br /><br /> When these natural defenses fall short, the acid that your stomach naturally uses in the digestive process will become an irritant to the tissue of your stomach and/or digestive tract and ultimately can lead to sores or small openings developing. It is the development of these sores or openings that radiate the stomach pain. <br /><br /> The physical location of the (peptic) sore itself determines the actual definition assigned (whether in the stomach, the small intestine, or the esophagus), but it is an ulcer nonetheless. <br /><br /> The leading medical cause of this ulcer is from a bacterium called <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/heliobacter+pylori" rel="tag">Heliobacter Pylori</a>. This particular bacteria works to weaken the stomach's natural defenses and as such allows the natural stomach acid to come in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/contact" rel="tag">contact</a> with the digestive walls that will eventually work to cause the damage to the soft tissue. <br /><br /> For your body, gastric acids and <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pepsin" rel="tag">pepsin</a> are necessary in the digestive process. However, as you can imagine (or have experienced) an over production of these fluids can cause the damages known better as ulcers. <br /><br /> Anyone who has experienced the pain of an ulcer is quite familiar with the 'burning' sensation associated with an ulcer. You may have initially associated the cause of the ulcer with foods that you ate, but in reality it is the food that you consume that naturally triggers your digestive acids, which in turn (not so gently) reminds you that there is an open sore in your digestive tract. <br /><br /> Research has shown that people who smoke and/or consume alcohol increase their risk of developing peptic ulcers because of the increased production of digestive acids that are associated with these lifestyle activities. <br /><br /> Remember that a peptic ulcer is a sore of wound to your digestive system and should not be left untreated or ineffectively treated, as serious complication can develop as a result. <br /><br /> If you are feeling persistent pain and burning sensations in your digestive tract particularly after eating, or perhaps you've noticed these symptoms after as a result of being on some type of medication, you should consult with your doctor for a complete examination and diagnosis that in most cases can lead to an effective treatment. <bio>For more important information on <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a>. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dangers do exist among the various forms of <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+relief" rel="tag">acid reflux relief</a>. It can be dangerous to use any health-related measure to the extreme. This is no less true of using acid reflux relief products. In order to achieve proper <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/biological+health" rel="tag">biological health</a>, you must balance the chemicals your body uses throughout your entire system. <br /><br /> It is true that acid reflux relief in the form of medication can reduce the amount of acid in your stomach, which is how acid reflux is controlled. This <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/stomach+acid" rel="tag">stomach acid</a> is vital, however, because it is an essential component in your digestive process. This acid is what dissolves food into digestible elements that your body can absorb. <br /><br /> Unless you maintain a healthy level of acid in your stomach, your entire system can become susceptible to other significant health problems. In addition, reducing too much stomach acid will confuse your digestive system into forgetting how to function without these artificial acid reflux relief remedies. <br /><br /> In this vein, your physician, like most, will likely discourage you from overusing any form of pharmaceutical acid reflux relief. Overusing any medication is dangerous to your overall health since they alter your biochemical balance. <br /><br /> Antacid is a common acid reflux relief remedy as it reduces an overabundance of acid in your stomach. These <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+neutralizers" rel="tag">acid neutralizers</a> are designed to remove <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/excess+acid" rel="tag">excess acid</a>, offering you a means of controlling your <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+disease" rel="tag">acid reflux disease</a>. <br /><br /> Unfortunately, imprecisely and routinely reducing the amount of stomach acid by using antacid medications creates a new problem. If the amount of acid in your stomach falls below the minimum your individual body needs, it can become harder for you to digest some foods or certain amounts of them. These acid reflux relief remedies can make it more difficult for your stomach to digest some <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/nutritional+components" rel="tag">nutritional components</a>, specifically ion and vitamin B. This, of course, can lead to an imbalance in nutrition throughout your body. <br /><br /> Another problem with using antacids to fight off acid reflux is the impact these remedies have on the walls of your stomach. Antacids reduce the ability of your stomach walls to fight infection through bacteria. Antacids make your stomach walls weaker against these attacks and increase the likelihood your stomach will be more susceptible to infection. <br /><br /> The ideal condition for good digestion is to maintain the correct balance of stomach acid. Naturally maintained levels of stomach acid are more effective than medicinal antacids on your entire digestive system. <bio>Find more Helpful Acid Reflux tips, advice Click Here: <a href="http://www.acidrefluxhelpcenter.com" >http://www.acidrefluxhelpcenter.com</a><br /><br />A Popular website that specializes in tips and resources to include Acid Reflux Drug, Acid Reflux Cure, and [<a href="http://www.acidrefluxhelpcenter.com/acid-reflux-syndrome.html" >http://www.acidrefluxhelpcenter.com/acid-reflux-syndrome.html</a>] Acid Reflux Syndrome </bio>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastro+esophageal+reflux" rel="tag">Gastro Esophageal Reflux</a> Disease (<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gerd" rel="tag">GERD</a>), is not technically a disease at all. Acid reflux is a condition brought on by poor eating habits. Not only eating the wrong foods, not chewing food properly is also a root cause of acid reflux. <br /><br /> What you eat can overcome acid reflux. If you get acid reflux during the night then the cause could very well be eating too much at dinner. Eating a large meal may cause the stomach to produce too much acid. Try eating smaller, more frequent meals during the day. A smaller amount of food puts less workload on the stomach therefore requiring less <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+secretion" rel="tag">acid secretion</a> needed for digestion. <br /><br /> Try to include foods that are high in <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/complex+carbohydrates" rel="tag">complex carbohydrates</a> in each of your meals. Foods such as breads, rice and pasta can tie up any <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/excess+stomach+acid" rel="tag">excess stomach acid</a>, making them easier on the stomach. Foods with high fat content remain in your stomach longer, which causes the need for more stomach acid to aid in digestion. Fast food is a huge contributor to this problem. <br /><br /> Over-eating any type of food can cause acid reflux because of your stomach needing more acids for digestion. Wine, beer and pop are common in causing acid reflux, especially beer, which can double your stomach acid in an hour. <br /><br /> There is the belief that drinking milk before bed with control acid reflux. However, milk can end up causing acid reflux during sleep. Milk can cause more stomach acid secretion, which of course causes acid reflux. Never lay down right after eating. You should remain in an upright position for 45 minutes or more after eating. When you do lie down, elevate the head of the bed about six to eight inches. <br /><br /> Your suggested <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+diet" rel="tag">acid reflux diet</a> plan could quite likely look different from another fellow sufferer. There may be a particular food that is sensitive for you but not be so for another person. It is therefore important that you see a doctor to help your work out your own acid reflux diet. You can experiment with different food groups to pinpoint what exactly causes your acid reflux and what does not cause it. <br /><br /> You may also wish to consult a dietician who could provide you with a list of foods that would be compatible with your acid reflux problem. Many sufferers of acid reflux are reluctant to give up their favorite foods. It is the favorite foods, which are the main cause's acid reflux. <br /><br /> In conclusion, acid reflux would not exist without a damaged esophagus. You must heal the esophagus if you are going to cure yourself of acid reflux. Change how you eat and properly chew your food. Eat mild, easy to digest foods until your esophagus has completely heeled. Once you have done that, it would be wise to maintain your better eating habits. <bio>Thomas D. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gastroesophageal+reflux+disease" rel="tag">Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease</a> or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/gerd" rel="tag">GERD</a> is thought to occur as a result of the relaxation of the LES, <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/lower+esophageal+sphincter" rel="tag">lower esophageal sphincter</a>, which allows stomach acid to regurgitate from the stomach and into the esophagus. Also known as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/acid+reflux+disease" rel="tag">acid reflux disease</a>, left untreated GERD can cause long term damage to the esophagus. <br /><br /> GERD is most often defined as persistent heartburn which occurs two or more days per week and is present for a minimum of three months. GERD may last up to two or more hours. Although it is often worse after eating, GERD is also reported by patients as a nighttime nuisance, especially increasing while lying down. <br /><br /> One of the most common symptoms of GERD is heartburn, often described as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/chest+pain" rel="tag">chest pain</a>. It is very important to seek medical attention when experiencing chest pain as the chest pain associated with acid reflux disease can often mimic the chest pain associated with a heart attack. Mid-sternal chest pain or pain radiating down the arms or into the neck or back is often similar in description in both patients experiencing a heart attack and GERD. <br /><br /> In addition to chest pain, other <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/symptoms+of+acid+reflux+disease" rel="tag">symptoms of acid reflux disease</a> may include a burning in the mid-chest behind the breast bone, difficulty or pain with swallowing, the sensation of a "lump" in the throat, sore throat or a general irritation of the throat, hoarseness, an acidic or <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/bitter+taste+in+the+mouth" rel="tag">bitter taste in the mouth</a> resulting from the back flow of the stomach contents into the esophagus, nausea, vomiting or an inflammation of the back of the throat. <br /><br /> It is important to remember that not all those suffering with GERD describe the same symptoms. While some sufferers describe the pain of acid reflux as a sharp pain others describe it more as a generalized pressure and burning sensation. <br /><br /> A physician or healthcare provider can best assess, diagnose and treat acid reflux disease. Left untreated GERD can cause long term damage such as tooth erosion from the prolonged exposure of the teeth to stomach acid or esophagitis, an erosion of the lining of the esophagus. Treatments are generally effective with careful planning and lifestyle modifications by motivated sufferers. <bio>For more important information on <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com</a> visit <a href="http://a-stomach-pain.com" >http://a-stomach-pain.com</a> where you will find advice and tips on common stomach pain causes such as <a href="http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/acid-reflux.html" >http://www.a-stomach-pain.com/acid-reflux.html</a>, ulcers, and other articles. </bio>]]></content:encoded>
