Nothing can seem quite so intimidating as the stock exchange; a hotbed of wealth and commerce all converging in one place; fortunes won and lost; businesses built; and the economic viability of a nation awaiting the results.

The stock exchange can mean a variety of things for a variety of people. To understand the stock exchange you must understand its role in today's economy.

To begin with, the stock exchange offers corporations the opportunity to fund their operations and grow their business. The money made from investors who believe in the products and services offered by the business is used to finance growth; profits are passed onto the stock holders in the form of increased stock prices which they can use to realize a profit upon the sale of the stock. This opportunity -- to be traded on the public stock market - is only offered to businesses of a certain size. It can mean the difference between viability and failure for a business.

Of course, the bigger picture of all this buying, selling, and growth of corporations is the impact it has on the greater economy. A strong economy is dependent upon a viable and thriving stock exchange and the same can be said for the other way around.

It can be enormously exciting to be involved in a process of this magnitude; to witness first-hand a nation's financial axis. The stock exchange does not have to be a place of intimidation; rather it should be what it was intended to be -- a place of opportunity.

To learn all you need to know about the stock exchange, go online. You'll find tremendous resources at your disposal that will explain the complexities of the stock exchange while laying the groundwork for your possible participation.

If you decide to become a part of trading on the stock exchange you can either begin with online trading -- a safe and minimally risky venture for novices -- or see a professional stock broker who can guide you through the stock exchange with ease.

Either way, the stock exchange offers a bevy of opportunities for those looking to do something else with their money than having it sit in a bank account. Explore all your options and you're sure to find that you'll be comfortable in no time. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about stocks visit our ezGuide 2 http://stocks.ezguide2.com </bio>

The New York Stock Exchange is the largest stock exchange in the world by dollar volume, and the second largest by the way of number of companies listed for trading. The global capitalization of the New York Stock Exchange was twenty five trillion dollars at the end of the year 2006. The trading floor for the New York Stock Exchange is located at 11 Wall Street, and this location has become famous in movies about stock trading and the stock market. There are five rooms here where the trading occurs every day, and they are frantic with activity while the market is open to trading. 18 Wall Street was the main building that was used for trading stocks, but this building is now designated as a Natural Historical Landmark.

The New York Stock Exchange utilizes an efficient method for sellers and buyers to trade shares of stock in companies that are traded on the public market. This stock exchange allows for efficient price discovery by using an auction method which is designed to guarantee a fair price to both parties involved in the trade. Beginning January 24, 2007, all stocks on the New York Stock Exchange can be electronically traded. This means that there are two ways to trade on the stock exchange, by electronic ticket or on the floor in an auction enviroment.

Each stock that is traded on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange has a specific location on the trading floor. Any exchange members that are interested in a trade concerning that stock will congregate in the location for that stock. Trading shares directly on the exchange market is only allowed by owners of the seats on the exchange. There are 1366 seats on the exchange, and they are extremely desireable. The price of these seats can be quite expensive, sometimes going for two or three million dollars in times of rising stock prices. The most expensive price ever paid for a seat was in 1929, with an amount of $625,000, which today would be over six million dollars. There are now one year trading licenses also available from the New York Stock Exchange, which allows the owner of the certificate the right to trade directly on the exchange for a period of one year. The start of the New York Stock Exchange happened on May 17, 1792 when twenty four stockbrokers signed the Buttonwood agreement. Since these humble beginnings, the New York Stock Exchange has become one of the biggest stock exchanges in the world.

Copyright =A9 2007 Joel Teo.
With online stock trading the latest in Internet technology, why do I need a broker to trade stocks online? A stock market is made up of at least one stock exchange, and usually more than one. A person who is not a member of a stock exchange can not just trade stocks on the exchange or the market. A stockbroker is a member of the exchange that they trade on, and this is how you have access to buying and selling stocks on the stock market. Only by using a stockbroker is it possible for normal individuals to trade on the stock exchange and the stock market.

All stockbrokers for a specific exchange must be licensed and registered by that exchange, and this insures that the stockbroker acts ethically and legally at all times. If a stockbroker is caught violating ethics or the law their trading priveleges on the exchange can be taken away. A stockbroker buys and sells stock for their own benefit, and they also trade stock shares for individuals that are not stockbrokers. This practice earns them a commission on trades that they execute for you.

Brokers that specialize in online stock trading use computer terminals to communicate and execute these trades for their clients. Just because trades are executed electronically online does not mean you do not require a broker. Even trades that are executed electronically are only accepted if they are executed by a registered stockbroker on that exchange. Without a broker, you will not get any farther electronically trading stocks than you would if you waded onto the trading floor on Wall Street and tried to trade. Not matter which method you use to trade your stocks, whether you use an electronic execution or an execution on the trading floor of the exchange. A stockbroker is a member of the stock exchange, and only members can trade on the exchange. These brokers trade stocks for themselves, and they trade stocks for a commission for individuals who are not a member of the stock exchange. In this way normal people can invest in the stock market and buy and sell stocks. Online brokers generally work from computer terminals that are linked to other computers creating a network. A broker is needed to trade stocks no matter which trading method you choose, and finding the right online broker is the most important decision you will make concerning stock trading.

Copyright =A9 2007 Joel Teo.
A stock is a legal symbol of ownership in a business. When you buy stock, you are actually buying part-ownership of the business. In other words, you become a shareholder. A business will typically spread ownership to hundreds or even thousands of shareholders. Shares are sold when the company wishes to get cash. In a small business, it may be said that the owner has 100% of all shares. However, when a business grows beyond a certain size, it may require capital for expansion and selling shares is the easiest way to do that.

Most stock holders do not really have much say in how the business is run because their ownership proportion is negligible. In order to make a difference, you must own lots of shares or you must work with several smaller shareholders. Now days, buying stock has become more of an investment rather than trying to run the business. You simply buy stock and wait for the company to grow. This will appreciate the stock value and you make money by selling it. Or you could simply make do with the percentage of profits the company gives you based on your shares.

The stock exchange is the place where people trade stocks. The three important share markets in the United States are the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq. Stocks are bought and sold through stock brokers or Direct Investment and Dividend Reinvestment Plans. The plans allow you to purchase the stock directly from the companies instead of the market.

Wall Street is a famous and important place when it comes to the American stock market. The street is named after the high fence built by the Dutch settlers in New York during the 17th century. Though the fence lasted till 1685, the street next to it was permanently named Wall Street. The history of the American stock exchange begins in Philadelphia. The first stock exchange was built here in 1770. Two years later, the first New York stock exchange was opened, though it was less successful. In 1817, New York stock exchange representatives traveled to Philadelphia to understand why it was more active.

This created a more disciplined and formal New York Stock and Exchange Board. Another important point in this history is the crash of 1929. This crash triggered the Great Depression. <bio>Get Stock Market information at http://www.thebulltrader.com/ </bio>

Stock photography is simply photos taken "on spec". This means the photographer takes pictures of various objects, people, or situations, and sells them after the pictures have been taken. They are not on a specific photography assignment, instead they are taking photos of subjects they'd like to take pictures of.

Stock photography is primarily used in printed advertisements, brochures, magazines, and websites, though there are many other ways stock photography can be used.

Stock photography is licensed in several different ways. The two most popular are Rights Managed Stock Photography, and Royalty Free Stock Photography.

Rights Managed photography is the use of stock photos that are licensed for a specific, limited time and purpose. If an advertiser for instance, needed a stock photo for one specific ad campaign, they could license a photo for that specific use. And they'd be limited to using the photo only for that campaign. They'd also be charged based on the size of the ad campaign they intended to use the stock photo for.

If they wanted to use the same photo again, they'd have to pay another fee. And that fee might be different, if the campaign use and sizes are different. These recurring fees are called royalties, and with rights managed stock photography they can be quite hefty. Ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars for the limited use of one photograph.

Royalty free stock photography allows you to pay a license fee once, then use the photo multiple times. There are usually limitations on this form of stock photography, however the restrictions are not nearly as narrow as rights managed photography is. A designer or advertiser could license one photo for instance, and use it in hundreds of different ad campaigns, without incurring additional fees. In other words: No royalty fees need to be paid.

Generally royalty free stock photography can be licensed for as little as $50 up to several hundred dollars depending on the licensing source and rights given.

One of the most popular forms of stock photography for small and web based businesses, is royalty free micro stock photography. This is a variation on the royalty free model, but it's referred to as "micro stock" because designers and advertisers pay just a dollar or two per image license.

This type of stock photography has become quite popular with website owners particularly, because it's a very inexpensive way to get top quality photos for use on their websites. Quality stock photos can be licensed for as little as $1 in smaller, web friendly sizes. And prices go up to about $3 or $5 for larger, print quality photo sizes.

Since these photos are royalty free, designers can use them multiple times for that one time low cost. Be sure to check the licensing restrictions though. Royalty free does not automatically mean "public domain" or "copyright free", and each micro stock photography site has their own particular use restrictions on the photos you license. <bio>© 2006, Kathy Burns-Millyard.
There are three main stock exchanges, or markets, globally. These are the NASDAQ stock market, the American stock exchange, and the New York stock exchange. The NASDAQ has the highest number of daily trades, followed by the New York stock exchange, and then the American stock exchange.

The NASDAQ stock market has three trading session, a pre-market session, a market session, and an after-market hours trading session. Quotes and order entries are from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., and quotes are firm and open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Pre-market trading hours run from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Then market hours run from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. After-market tradings hours kick in from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Nasdaq stock market is also closed for holidays on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

The New York Stock Exchange only has one set of market hours, and this is from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m Eastern Standard Time. It is also only open Monday through Friday, no weekends. There are several holidays which shut down this stock market. These are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence and Labor Day, ad Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

The American Stock Exchange also has trading hours from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and it follows the same holiday schedule as the New York Stock Exchange. This is a typical holiday schedule in the United States because of federally mandated holidays.

No matter which stock exchange you plan on trading on, knowing the market hours and when the trading occurs is an enormous benefit. The markets all keep close to the same hours and holiday closing schedules, however the NASDAQ market has three specific trading sessions, while the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange only have one trading session.

By being aware of the stock market trading hours, you can figure out which markets provide the best trading opportunities and when. By knowing ahead of time when the markets open and when the quotes are given and accepted, it will help to maximize the profit potential. The stock market may only be open for less than half of each day, but the impact that these markets have on economies all over the world are enormous.

Copyright =A9 2007 Joel Teo.
The term stock market, as the name connotes, is a place where you can market or trade a company's stock, which the corporation issues through shares in order to raise capital. Of course, capital is the cost that a company incurs in relation to producing its products and services.

The people who buy these shares are the shareholders, and the term can refer to an individual or an organization.

The term stock market can also apply to all the stocks available for trading (as well as other securities), for example, when used in terms like andquot;the stock market performed well today.andquot;

The stock market involves the trading of bonds, which is a debt security that stipulates that the issuer of the bonds holds the holders a debt. It is exactly like a loan, only that it is in the form of a security. These bonds are traded over-the-counter, which means they are traded directly between two parties. Thisis opposed to exchange trading or the trading that occurs on stock exchanges or future exchanges.

The stock market also involves the trading of commodities, which refer to raw commodities such as agricultural products (coffee, sugar, wheat, maize, barley, cocoa, milk products) and other raw materials (pork bellies, oil, metals).

The stock market is different from the stock exchange, which is primarily concerned with bringing togehter buyers and sellers of stock and securities.

You can participate in the stock exchange as an individual stock investor or as major player (large hedge fund trader). Orders at a stock exchange are usually made through a broker.

There are two types of exchanges where stocks can be traded. There is the exchange that has a physical location where verbal trading takes place. This is the more famous type of exchange because it is often depicted on TV showing animated trader shouting at each other, waving and running around frantically. That's exactly how the stock exchange works. What happens is traders enter into verbal agreements on the prices of stocks. The other type of exhcnage is the virtual kind where traders deal electronically through computer terminals. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://4investing.net/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://1stconsumerinfo.com/ and http://universeofjobs.com/ </bio>

The New York Stock Exchange is also known as the andquot;Big Boardandquot; or the andquot;Wall Streetandquot; because it is located at 11 Wall Street, New York. The New York Stock Exchange is the largest stock exchange in the United States by dollar volume and total market capitalization of companies listed. The biggest stock exchange by share volume is the NASDAQ, a fully electronic stock exchange.

The New York Stock Exchange is operated by the NYSE Group. The NYSE Group also operates a second stock exchange, the NYSE Arca, formerly known as the Archipelago Exchange. The NYSE acquired Archipelago just recently in December 2005 and went public and began trading under the NYSE Group in March 2006. The symbol is NYX.

There are more than 2600 companies with a market value of about $21 trillion listed on the NYSE. Non-US companies play a major role with a value of over $7 trillion. The listing requirements are high to maintain listing quality. Companies must maintain minimum standards in number of shareholders, trading volume, market capitalization, earnings, cash flow and other criteria.

The New York Stock Exchange trades in the so-called open outcry system. Each stock is traded by a so called specialist on a specific location on the trading floor. A specialist is an employee of a NYSE member firm who works as an auctioneer to meet buyers and sellers in a particular stock. This is what makes the NYSE different to the other exchanges like the NASDAQ where the orders are matched fully electronically.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (symbol DJI) is the oldest, most important and best known index of the New York Stock Exchange. It was created by Charles Dow, founder of the Dow Jones andamp; Company. It was first calculated in October 1, 1928. The index is also known as the andquot;Dow Jonesandquot; or simply the andquot;Dowandquot;. The index calculates the average value of thirty of the most important stocks like Microsoft, Pfizer, ATandamp;T, IBM. Since the Down Jones is a price-weighted index of only 30 stocks, many recommend watching the Sandamp;P 500 index instead as a better indicator.

There have been several big Dow Jones index declines which became famous. In October 12, 1914 the Dow Jones had its biggest percentage drop in history with 24.39% in one single day. In October 19, 1987 the drop was 22.6% (Black Monday). The largest point drop was September 17, 2001 with 684.81 points or 7.1%. Today trading is halted at the New York Stock Exchange when the market declines 10, 20 or 30% to give investors time to rethink their decisions (circuit breaker rule). <bio>David A.
The stock market is actually an avenue from which the stock of companies is purchased and sold.

Some people still believe that the stock market and Wall Street are one and the same. However, Wall Street in New York is just a single example of a stock market.

When you review the history of the stock market, Wall Street is quite significant. The concept of the stock market was actually born and developed on Wall Street.

In 1653, an establishment was formally built where Wall Street currently exists. The purpose of this establishment was for defense rather than commerce. Dutch settlers built a 12 foot stockade fence to keep out the British and Native Americans.

By 1685, this defensive establishment was torn down and replaced. The new street was named Wall Street by the British.

What About The Stock Exchange?

Two powerful stock exchanges emerged from Wall Street, which is why it is so famous. As a result of these historical developments, chaotic trading developed and turned into the hectic financial markets we all know today.

In 1790, the first United States stock exchange was founded in Philadelphia. A group of New York traders got together two years later to consider setting up a security business. This group of 24 men ultimately founded what is known as the New York Stock Exchange.

By 1817, New York merchants were upset by the poor state of their stock exchange. One member went to Philadelphia to check out their trading and discovered they were doing quite well in their exchange. The merchant came back to New York and shared how things were done in Philadelphia to improve operations. Within a short period of time, the New York Stock and Exchange Board was formally organized.

This exchange center was inaugurated on world famous World Street and the rest was history. Despite its difficult start, the New York Stock Exchange turned into the place where billions of dollars in stocks and bonds are bought and sold everyday.

The Wall Street success story did not occur overnight, much like any other major enterprise. During the early 1900s, the New York Stock Exchange was on the rise. However, this incredible financial boom could not be sustained because the stock market crashed in 1929. The world was absolutely shocked and the unexpected stock market crash was the cause of the Great Depression.

Slowly the economy recovered over time. Despite this fact, the mistakes of the Great Depression came back to haunt the exchange. The stock market crashed again in 1987. It was such a crippling crash that the Dow Jones actually suffered the biggest loss in a single day in the history of the stock market.

Over the past two decades, the stock market industry and the government have been trying to set up measures to prevent another major crash. Today the stock market is an essential part of the world economy. Thus, it is of the utmost importance to reduce or prevent another stock market crash to protect international economic interests.<bio>For more wall street history including stock investing tips and advice, please visit: http://stockinvesting101.net</bio>

Online marketers often talk about just how important it is to find what the market wants, then sell them what they want. In other words, find out what people really want, and then provide the solution. Do you think this approach would work just as well with selling stock photography?

Let's say you've created photos that, although they make great visual eye candy and tell a unique photo story, no stock agency wants. (A simple reason might be that they may have too many of these type of images already). You can choose to see this as a learning experience and 'try a new approach,' or continue creating similar stock photography that you hope will be accepted, one day.

However, I'm sure you'd agree that it's better to work smarter than harder. This means that with stock photography you'll need to be flexible and 'bend your creativity' a little, perhaps shaping it towards a more profitable approach. The good news is that this is very do-able. After all, you are in charge of what the camera sees and you decide on what pictures you want to take.

So, maybe it's obvious, but if you want to sell more stock photos, find out what the stock agencies want (and need). Believe me, if you ask, they'll tell you.

Most, if not all, of the stock agencies or micro stock agencies out there will have a 'needs list or wants list' at their website. Make that your first destination. Be diligent in your research and you will be on the road to success with selling stock photography.

Then you can create a theme of photographic work that's tailored exactly to the stock photo agencies needs and wants and then submit these specific images to them. Obviously there'll be themes that you won't be able to shoot, but there will be some that will fit well with your own lifestyle, environment, location and photo style.

This should rapidly increase your chances of making photo sales.

A search on a few stock photo agencies web sites revealed that they are keen for their photographers to "...provide something more unusual, or sought after... and it might make the most downloaded page."

In other words, don't create photographs 'the same' as every other photographer. Make sure your unique, individual style lets your images stand out, and at the same time be conscious of what the stock agency really needs.

Another simple way to realize selling stock photography success is by going to photo agency or stock libraries web sites and looking at what types of images they have, promote, use and sell... on a regular basis.

Look for the type and styles of images that they prefer. Is there certain image themes that get downloaded (sold) often? What styles seem to sell regularly?

Check to see if there are images similar to what you create, or check the downloads section... the micro stock sites will usually show you how many times an image has been downloaded... of course, the more the better, that means it's more popular (more money for the photographer). Just ask yourself this: "Could I create images similar to this..?"

Being honest with yourself and your abilities as a photographer is important... It's a big time decision to submit images to stock photo web sites... you really do need to ask yourself how likely will it be that I can make sales through this? And, is it the best use of my images and time?

If you can stay open minded about what themes you shoot (especially with the great flexibility of shooting digital photography), and focus on tapping into 'what the market wants' then you might find that your unique little approach to selling stock photography keeps photo buyers happy and you in profit. Go for it.

Copyright Martin Hurley 2007 <bio>Martin Hurley, (http://www.martinhurley.com) the "Sell Photos Online" dude is a photographer who helps people uncover their genius, talents, and sell more photos!
Stock trading can be a very profitable business, but there is also a lot of risk that is involved in this venture. By knowing exactly what happens during a stock trade, you will be a better trader and make it possible to minimize your losses. To trade a stock is to buy or sell shares of it. The stock markets trade over a billion shares daily, and it does it very efficiently. A trade for ten or a hundred shares of stock is handled with the same professional care that a trade for ten thousand shares is.

There are two basic methods of executing a trade on the stock. These are trades that are executed electronically and trades that are executed on the exchange floor. The exchange floor trading is the chaotic image that everyone knows from television and the movies. You notify your broker that you want X number of shares in company Y. The order department for your broker sends out your order to their floor clerk, who is on the floor of the exchange. The floor clerk notifies the floor trader of the order, and the floor trader finds another floor trader who is willing to sell X shares of Y company to fill your order. This is not as complicated as it looks, because floor traders know which markets other floor traders trade in. A price is agreed upon between the two floor traders, and the deal is finished. The floor trader notifies the floor clerk that the deal is done, and the floor clerk notifies your broker, who notifies you.

Electronic stock trading uses vast numbers of computers to match up sellers and buyers of specific stocks. This system takes the place of the human brokers on the floor of the stock exchange. Trading stocks electronically is very quick and very efficient. This method is good for individual investors because you get a confirmation of your trade almost instantly. This method of trading may not have the raw adrenaline of the stock exchange floor, but it is much more efficient.

Whether you chose to trade with a broker who uses the exchange floor or you choose to trade electronically, finding great stocks to trade in is very important for successful stock trades. It does not matter which trade execution method you use if the stocks you pick to trade in are losers that cost you money. Research the market and find good reliable stocks to trade in. Sometimes it is better to make small gains and come out ahead then it is to make one big lump and then lose it in minutes. No matter how you choose stocks to trade in, stock trading is always a risk and this should be taken into consideration before you start trading stocks.

Copyright =A9 2007 Joel Teo.
Early in our country's history and stock market history, Boston was the original financial center of America. In Boston bonds for projects that included roads, canals, bridges and commodities such as hides and molasses, were sold and bought by dealers in Boston. Even though business was conducted in Boston, it was not considered an official place to conduct such financial business which is part of the stock market history.

It wasn't until 1792 that the United States of America would official organize a formal stock and bond trading in the stock market history which was located in New York. The new banks that were forming attracted wealthy businessmen, who would sell lottery tickets, bonds and shares of stocks along with their ordinary trade. During this time, treasury bonds issued by the new Bank of the United States were the hottest commodity for trading and speculating.

According to stock market history, the first organized stock exchange was created in 1792. Benjamin Jay, John Sutton and 22 additional financial leaders met and agreed to sign an agreement that outlined the rules, regulations and fees for the stock exchange. The original Wall Street was built in 1644 on the lower end of Manhattan by the Dutch to protect themselves against attacks from the British. The wall was later destroyed but the road that ran along side it remained. This is how the term Wall Street was first conceived.

Stock market history includes the establishment of the Stock Exchange Office. The Stock Exchange Office was used to auction securities every day to be sold to the highest bidder. The seller of the securities paid the exchange a commission on each stock or bond sold. Stock market history shows that the Stock Exchange was an exclusive organization that only the elite of New York's financial community could join.

It wasn't until 1817 that the name of the Stock Exchange was officially changed to the New York Stock and Exchange Board. Then in 1863, the New York Stock and Exchange Board decided to change its name to the New York Stock Exchange. In stock market history, it was during 1863 that the New York Stock Exchange moved into the building at the corner of Wall and Broad streets to conduct business. This is the location that the New York Stock Exchange still conducts business today.

During the early years of the stock market history, there were a few smaller exchanges that competed with the New York Stock Exchange. One of these smaller exchanges was known as the Curbstone Brokers because they would conduct business outside on the curb come rain or shine. The Curbstone Brokers would deal in smaller companies that couldn't meet the requirements that had been set by the New York Stock Exchange. It wasn't until after the Curbstone Brokers had been in business for over 100 years that they purchased a lot at the west end of Wall Street known as Trinity Place. In 1919, the Curbstone Brokers built a tall modern building at 86 Trinity Place. Ten years later the Curbstone Brokers renamed themselves the New York Curb Exchange and moved into their brand new building. Stock market history shows that in 1953 the New York Curb Exchange changed its name to the American Stock Exchange.

Stock market history shows there were only 295 corporations in 1800 in the exchange which about 20 traded publicly. By 1835, there were approximately 121 being traded publicly many of those were railroads. In 1869, there were 145 companies listed, including insurance, steel, farm equipment, tobacco, and other manufacturers. In 1900, U.S. Steel was the biggest stock being traded. Stock market history shows that ATandT, Westinghouse, Eastman Kodak, Procter and Gamble, Pillsbury, Sears, Kellogg, and Nabisco Crackers were also on the New York Stock Exchange during this time period.

The market was roaring during this time. Stock market history shows that a good Wall Street "runner" (someone who delivered paperwork and stock certificates between brokerages) could make $8.00 per day which was an incredible sum considering the prevailing wage at the time was 10 cents or less per hour.<bio>Jayme Hanson operates an information site about Learning How To Invest.
One of the most interesting types of stock photos is the night photograph. This photo is very interesting and can make for visually aesthetic, mysterious, unusual pictures. Most beginning stock photographers will usually stick with the sun. They will refuse to try out shooting at night with long exposures. Having to use a tripod sends them running back to their sun that exposes their pictures every time.

A great benefit to shooting stock photos in the night is that not many other people do it! If you could specialize temporarily in night stock photos and build a massive collection you could very well be the stock photographer that everybody runs to when they need a night photograph.

Do, however, recognize that night photographs are not in as high demand as photographs during the day. There is, however, a limited amount of night stock photographs available. Let's take the subject of going out with friends. There are dozens of stock photos showing friends having fun in parks, public gatherings, and a plethora of other places. But when it comes to showing them having a good time during the night there is a lesser selection. Fill in this gap and create a collection of night photographs based on the concept of fiends having a good time at night.

Night stock photos will require you to have a tripod. There is no changing this. Unless you have a massive array of lights at your disposal, a tripod will definitely be needed. When taking night photographs you are going to be exposing your photo for a very long time. That means that you will need the tripod definitely. A blurry stock photo because of a lack of a tripod will be worth nothing.

The professional stock photographer will probably be using many other devices when taking stock photographs. One such device is the remote release. The remote release is attached to the camera and enables the photographer to take a picture without touching the camera body. They simply push the button on the remote release and the shutter opens to expose the image. This has great benefits when taking night photographs. The biggest benefit is that you won't be touching the shutter button and don't have to worry about the photograph getting out of focus because you moved it. If you are going to be shooting a lot of night photographs you definitely need one of these shutter release devices.

An alternative would be t use the self timer on your camera. Honestly, I hate using the self timer. It's annoying and always goes faster or slower than I want it to. If you like the self timer on your camera go ahead and use it. The self timer is a better option than pushing the shutter button with your fingers.

Stock photos at night can be very profitable and valuable. It is, however, fully depended upon the work that you do. Do not try to cut corners in night stock photography or any other photography for stock. Treat it as a professional stock photographer would. <bio>http://www.photoprofitz.com Al Sanchez has a great program that teaches how to sell pictures online </bio>

When buyers and sellers meet to exchange shares of a company, then they do it at the stock exchange. Stock exchanges are virtual or physical market places which offer standardized procedures for stock trading. This is of benefit for both parties, buyers and sellers, because only an efficient and liquid stock market is a secure place to trade shares.

Stock markets play an important role in today's economy. For a company it's the best place to raise much money quickly. Companies sell shares to have more money for investments. They can achieve their business goals faster. Private investors can buy shares to become a partial owner of the company with voting rights at the shareholder meeting and the right of shared profits. For an investor it's the only way to become part of a business and enjoy the chances for high profits without founding an own company. Stocks also limit the risks and liability. In the worst case, you loose the purchase price when the shares go worthless.

There are various different stock exchanges. The most important ones in the United States are the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ. The NYSE is a physical market place while the NASDAQ is a virtual exchange. The NYSE, also known as the "Wall Street", executes the orders to buy or sell shares through so called specialists in an "open outcry" system. Each specialist is responsible for a specific company. When an order to buy or sell stocks comes in then the specialist tries to match orders to receive an execution. Since all orders for the same stock come to the same specialist, he usually has enough shares to match the orders.

The NASDAQ works different because there is no specialist. There are several market makers per stock who are obligated to provide a current bid and ask price at all times. There are also electronic communication networks (ECN) which work 100% electronically. All orders are matched that way. Since there is no physical location of the NASDAQ like the NYSE trading floor, it's a virtual stock exchange.

Today's stock markets work very efficiently and fast. Advances in technology, especially the Internet, allowed the stock exchanges to grow rapidly the last years. Today everybody with a computer and Internet can trade stocks online with low transaction costs. Years ago stock trading was expensive and made sense only when you bought a large amount of shares. Now you can trade stocks in seconds and so inexpensively that so called day traders execute hundreds of trades per day from their home computer.

You still need a broker to get connected to the stock market. A broker is the intermediate between the investor and the stock exchange. He takes care that your orders are executed properly and timely. Discount brokers offer only order execution while full service brokers offer more services at a higher fee like research, advice and financial planning.

No matter which broker you choose, the stock market is an exciting place offering you the choice between thousands of companies. There are new opportunities every day. <bio>David A.
Silly question you may say! Of course you buy stocks via your broker or online using your brokerage account.

But ...

It's not necessarily that easy if you want to buy foreign stocks which you shouldn't really underestimate nor neglect. There's a whole batch of foreign stocks out there that make great investments but that are not available in your country, or only with difficulty.

And that's the reason for this article. Several of my subscribers emailed me saying that they were interested in a stock but couldn't purchase it in their country. Now why is that?

If you want to buy Microsoft or Wall Mart stocks for instance, you will not experience any problems at most stock exchanges let alone the USA. These two stocks alone already have a trading volume of over 10 million + every day on Wall Street. Even the regional stock exchanges like Chicago or San Francisco etc. have a high trading volume with Microsoft and Wall Mart. Buying and selling takes place within seconds.

But although most foreign stocks are also found on the trading floors of New York and other international exchanges, there are exceptions. Like the Canadian company Loblaw for example. You won't see Loblaw stocks anywhere in Frankfurt, which is the largest stock exchange in Germany. There's only a bit of volume at the regional stock exchange in Berlin. On average about 17 stocks per day. And that's nothing!

The same is true for other big exchanges too! You will not find every single stock in New York, London, Frankfurt, Sydney or Hong Kong. It simply has to do with supply and demand. If there's hardly any demand for a stock in XYZ country -- for whatever reason -- you won't have the necessary supply. So either the stock is not available in your country at all, or only at very low volumes.

The difficulty with very low trading volumes is, that if you don't only want to buy say 10 or 20 stocks, but maybe 500 or even 1000, this volume will be difficult to get and may take several hours or even days.

What can also happen then is, that your order will automatically be split up into several orders until the entire volume ordered is purchased. This is what happened to one of my orders a few years ago. And every order is charged with a commission. Considering the extra charges for each order at your local stock exchange, it might even be cheaper if you buy the stocks at a foreign stock exchange where volume is much higher.

And that's exactly what you also do if you find a good stock that you are eager to get hold of, but can't buy it in your country at all! You buy your stocks at a foreign exchange which in most cases will be the country of the stocks origin. This will also involve higher charges because you gonna have to do this via 2 brokers.

So let's take the Canadian Loblaw again. If I would like to buy this stock, I'm gonna have to see my broker here in Germany who will then buy the stocks at the stock exchange in Toronto which will involve several extra commissions and charges. Because not only my broker will charge a commission but the broker in Canada too. So I'll end up paying 2 brokers who are involved in my transaction.

So that's simply how it works. My broker will contact a broker in Canada who will then make the purchase for me. And apart from extra charges involved it will also take longer before the transaction goes through.

But these extra commissions shouldn't be overrated. If you find a great and solid stock that you really want, then go for it and because if you're an investor and not a trader, you are probably contemplating a long-term investment anyway. And in the long run, commissions and other charges are negligible anyway.

At the end of the day it's only important which stocks you buy and not the place where you buy them!

Yours in Successful Trading

Ricky Schmidt <bio>Ricky Schmidt's website http://www.stockbreakthroughs.com was created out of frustration in trying to decode books, magazines and newsletters on the subject, which are supposed to

be for beginners but are not because they're too difficult to understand. Too many "Big Words" and too much intelligent sounding grammar is used which is not very useful. </bio>

The stock market can be traced back to the late 1700s, in the infancy of the United States. Beginning in Philadelphia, the first American stock exchanged was founded in order to bolster commerce in this new world. Before long the New York Stock Exchange was born which soon gave rise to the New York Stock and Exchange Board which led the now frenetic pace that exists today on Wall Street.

In buying a stock, an investor becomes a shareholder - or part owner - in a company. The company then uses the money supplied by their investors to further their business and increase profits. These profits are reflected in the growing price of the stock - the money needed to purchase a share of the company. Investors who now own stock in the company have seen their investment grow and should they now decide to sell this particular stock they will make more money than they originally paid for it.

This is the basic premise behind the stock market. For many generations, the stock exchange was a brick and mortar world in which investors operated through their stock brokers - professionals who would "broker" a deal between the company that was selling stock and their investor who wanted to buy it. In today's world, however, finance is conducted very differently; through a vast network of worldwide computers that act as a facilitator to online stock investing.

Online stock investing offers consumers the opportunity to establish an account right on the Internet through any one of the online brokerage houses in existence today. It is of the utmost importance to choose a reputable brokerage company with which to work; some of the more popular companies such as Ameritrade and ETrade Financial have earned superior reputations in the industry.

Once a relationship with a reputable brokerage company is established, online stock investing first requires setting up an online account through the company. You can then build your portfolio, set financial goals, and buy and sell stocks through the site. Some of the benefits available to those who invest in this manner, include immediate access to their account profile online, up-to-the-minute stock quotes, and research and information regarding companies and the stock they offer.

Some of the other significant benefits to online stock investing include low broker's fees. While traditional brokerage fees can be on the pricey side, online stock investing generally costs the online investor $7 to $10 per trade. Online stock investing also provides the investor with greater control over their portfolio; the buying and selling of stock is completely dependent upon the investor's decision.

The online tools provided by the brokerage company allow the investor to chart the course of stocks of interest and review the most comprehensive information available. Of course, the most obvious benefit of online stock investing is its convenience; investing can be done right in the home =96 saving time and money.

The world of trading stock has changed; and stock brokers and investors alike must keep pace in this new financial world. Online stock investing is the present - and stands to be the future - of trading stock. <bio>For more online stocks information please visit http://www.aboutonlinestocks.com - a popular online stocks website that provides tips and online stock resources.
In this ever-fluctuating financial world, it is very difficult to know the best way to go about making your money work for you. For generations the stock exchange has given consumers the opportunity to invest their money into companies that they felt would perform solidly, thus increasing the worth of their stock. In essence, the stock market acts as a facilitator between buyers and sellers, as they exchange stock that they hold in companies.

These companies use the money they receive from their investors to further their business and increase profits; increased profit means a higher worth for the stock. And round and round it goes. Traditionally, those looking to invest went to a stock broker in any number of brokerage companies who would assist the investor in the buying and selling of stock and the building of their financial portfolio.

But in this age of the Internet, investors need only turn on their computer to be linked into the stock exchange. Subsequently, to keep pace with this changing economy, online stock brokers entered into this new world of finance in order to assist virtual customers in achieving their financial goals.

Online stock brokers work within investment companies that offer online resources as either their entire service or as part of their traditional brokerage service. Some of the more commonly used online stock brokers are Ameritrade, ETrade Financial, Fidelity, and Schwab. Such brokers operate much as traditional brokers - assessing the investor's financial situation, the financial plan they want to execute, and the stocks in which they are interested.

Working through these online stock brokers, investors create an account where they can access their financial information at the click of a mouse. Online brokerage houses offer an extensive amount of information in order for investors to make informed decisions regarding their trades; stock quotes are kept scrolling at all times on the website; historical performance on each stock can be accessed; and in-depth information regarding each company's history and financial status is available for investors to perform research prior to investing.

Investors turn to online trading and online stock brokers for a variety of benefits, not the least of which is low broker fees; online broker fees generally run between $7 and $10 per trade. There is also the control investors have to make decisions on behalf of their own portfolio.

Investors are able to choose what stocks they want to buy - regardless of what the stock broker prefers. Online stock brokers - unlike traditional stock brokers - do not exert much control over the stocks of the investor. Online trading offers investors a whole new level of independence.

The world of investment has changed; no longer are investors required to physically visit their stock brokers in order to examine their portfolio, set financial goals, and buy and sell commodities. Today's savvy investors work from their computers along with online stock brokers in order to be hands-on participants in their own financial future. <bio>For more online stocks information please visit http://www.aboutonlinestocks.com - a popular online stocks website that provides tips and online stock resources.
Photo Mosaics are actually a very new invention, believed to be first created in the 1990's. Photo mosaics have become widely popular around the world, though, for their unique appeal.

A Photo Mosaic is a photo made up of many smaller photos. To say it another way: A photo mosaic is a photo that has been divided up into small squares or rectangles. Each rectangle is the replaced by a separate photo that closely approximates the color the rectangle was.

A picture is worth a thousand words in explaining what a photo mosaic is like, though. Go to Google Image Search or Yahoo Image Search and search for "photomosaics".

One of the first creators of photo mosaics, Robert Silvers, patented the production of and name photomosaic. However, Mr Silvers patent does not give him the exclusive rights to make photo mosaics. There are many companies around the world using various methods and technologies to legally create photo mosaics.

There are several ways to create or obtain photo mosaics.

The first method is tedious, to say the least. Using photoshop, or any other editor, you can manually cut and paste images together to create the larger image. This technique is very time consuming, though, and there is really no need to employ this method.

The second method is to use photographic mosaic software. There are many versions of free software that can help you much more easily create photo mosaics. Of course, there will be at least a short learning curve, but most are not too difficult to use.

The third and final method to obtain a custom photo mosaic is to pay a professional photo mosaic designer to create on for you. This is obviously the most expensive option, but it will probably also give you the highest quality finished product.

Really, it's all up to and what you need and want! Happy photo mosaic-ing! <bio>Get your own custom photo mosiac created by the professionals at http://www.designamosaic.com </bio>
