While some are commercially made, other rubber stamping units can be customized specifically for the owner. An example would be an address stamper, which features a name and mailing address and is used on mailing envelopes.

There are many uses for rubber stamping and below are just a few of the examples that these handy products are designed for:

Mailing. Rubber stamping is commonly used by business owners and individuals who wish to stamp a package as fragile. If insurance is purchased on a package, the postmaster will usually stamp the package as 'insured'

Bank Deposits. Individuals or businesses who wish to stamp the signature line of their check often use rubber stamping. Many businesses stamp 'For Deposit Only' and follow it with the account number.

Return Address. Many individuals and/or businesses enjoy the convenience of rubber stamping on the outside of a mailing envelope. When most people have to write their name and address in the top left hand corner, others use the rubber stamping technique to save time when mailing one or 1,000 letters.

Billing. Companies who are in the business of billing and/or collections often use rubber stamping to indicate when a bill has been paid by stamping 'Paid' on the account.

Organization. Some companies and entrepreneurs find that the use of rubber stamping helps them to better organize their files

Scrapbooking. One of the world's most popular hobbies, scrapbooking often involves rubber stamping for fun and added color to each page.

Rubber stamping products are commonly found at office supply stores, but are also readily available online. There are a growing number of companies who provide customized rubber stamping products, including everything from the basic models to the self-inking stamper. With so many choices ranging from sizes, customization and ink color, rubber stamping products are available to fit almost any budget. With personalized products, most companies ask that individuals and/or businesses allow additional time for their stamps to be created and shipped. <bio>Want to learn more about rubber stamping?
Hot stamping foil adhesion is measured in a number of different ways, and there is a lot of misconception about what each test really measures. Take the simple scratch test for example. Is that a definitive adhesion test or simply a measure of the hardness of one's fingernail?

In fact, most adhesion tests carried out are comparative rather than a true measure. If you have two foils on the same substrate, both blocked at the same time, then you can test their comparative resistance to your fingernail, assuming that you do not subconsciously scratch harder on that you want to fail. This is more common than you might think, which is why a true scientific measure of adhesion is preferred.

However, such measurements are rare, and there is nothing that could realistically be routinely carried out by a trade blocker or printer. Even a rub or abrasion tester is not testing adhesion as much as the hardness of the foil surface. The so-called `Scotch tape' test is generally the most widely used, but there are so many variables involved, that again this is normally not definitive unless exactly the same tape is used each time.

Apart from the adhesion of the foil itself, the amount of wax release applied can significantly affect the adhesion and abrasion resistance of a hot stamping foil as it is tested. Hot foil can be made using a wide variety of waxes, and is not present in the form of a coherent separate layer. The wax layer is generally applied by direct gravure, and is only around 0.005 gsm (grams per square metre) when dry.

The solvents used in the subsequent lacquer or top coat are generally fairly aggressive, and even though tend not to dissolve the wax when cold, will invariable strike through the wax layer immediately on coating, and also in the drying tunnel. The result is a wax rich resin layer at the carrier film interface (usually polyester) that becomes progressively more wax deficient the deeper into the lacquer layer =96 i.e. the further the distance from the polyester where the wax layer was originally applied, the less wax will be intermixed with the resin.

After blocking, the wax in the resin tends to rise to the surface. Although some wax will be at the surface of the foil immediately on hot stamping, this will increase with time as it migrates through the lacquer layer to the surface. Hence, abrasion resistance improves with time and your test results will therefore vary according to how long after blocking you test the foil.

The same could be true of the Scotch tape test: the surface will become increasing less receptive to the tape as the wax concentration increases. What you are measuring, then, is the adhesion of the tape to the wax-rich surface relative to the adhesion of the hot foil to the substrate it is blocked to.

There is in fact a lot more to it than just that, but it indicates that what you might have thought was a simple test is, in fact, not so straightforward. There are several other properties of a hot stamping that affect its perceived adhesion, too many to discuss in this article. However the principles involved are interesting and worth finding out because they can shed light on some of the problems you might have encountered on your press.

Sometimes understanding why a problem occurs can give you an idea of the solution. However, I will finish of with a few questions that have little to do with solutions but more to do with the testing itself. How many people go around testing their greetings cards or wine labels with a piece of sticky tape? Is your testing related to the end use of the foiled article, or carried out only because it is in the testing specification?

Good hot stamping foil adhesion is frequently needed, but would you sacrifice performance and speed in order to use a hot foil that stands up well to a piece of sticky tape after foil blocking? <bio>For more information on hot stamping foil adhesion and other problems associated with their use, check out Paul's website on http://www.hot-stamping-foil.com/adhesion.html that is designed to provide information the foil user, not sell products. </bio>

The development of modern cold stamping foils originated with the simple cold foils devised as a dieless technique for applying a metallic finish to self adhesive labels produced on reel to reel printing presses. There are many benefits of this process, and some disadvantages, although cold foiling has progressed a lot since then.

The benefits in reel to reel printing are obvious. If hot foiling is carried out in-line at the end of the printing process, then the press speed is limited by the foiling speed which is relatively slow. If the printing was maintained and the foil applied as a separate pass, there is a corresponding cost impact. Furthermore, the cost of hot foil dies is relatively high compared to a printing plate or sleeve and energy is needed to heat the die.

Reel to reel cold foiling involves printing a UV curable adhesive in the foil design needed, laminating the foil to the adhesive through a nip, curing the adhesive with UV lamps and separating the foil from the printed web. The foil that is removed from its carrier film is in the design of the printed adhesive, since that has been UV cured and so adheres to the foil.

By using a cold foil, the speed is limited only by the strength of the UV lamps or the optical density of the foil. The aluminum layer in the foil has to be thinner than that normally used in a hot stamping foil to allow sufficient transparency to the UV light. True, this is irrelevant when the foiling is carried out directly to transparent films since the light can be directed through the back of the film onto the adhesive, but this is frequently not the case. The foiling is often carried out over an opaque white ink which can be silk screened onto to the label prior to the adhesive and then the foil applied. This places an opaque layer between the film and the foil, so that the beam has to pass through the lacquer layer or top coat of the cold foil.

The UV beam passes through the lacquer and aluminum layers to reach the adhesive, so the aluminum must be as transparent as possible. The more opaque it is, the more lamps are needed or the slower the running speed. Since printers want the lamps set in a fixed position, and not changed around for each type of job, all curing is generally carried out through the foil than through the film being printed.

Given that this can be done, then cold foiling is much faster than hot foiling, and of course there is no need for a die, thus saving not only on die-cutting costs but also on energy. A very appropriate saving these days. So why are all reel to reel jobs not blocked using cold stamping foils? Mainly due to the quality. Cold foiling is generally not as brilliant as hot foiling, and also most stamping foil manufacturers offer a very limited range.

They have also tended not be very print receptive. If the overprint is small enough, it can adhere, though the cold foil surface tends to be fairly low in surface energy (low dyne level). Larger printed areas tend to have poor scratch resistance and tape adhesion, though many customers accept this in return for the lower costs. Modern developments, however, are tending to overcome these problems though truly over printable cold foils are very difficult to find and depend very much on the type of ink being used.

Modern cold foil developments include sheet fed offset litho applications, whereby the adhesive is applied by traditional oxidation drying offset, and then the silver foil overprinted with oxidation drying offset transparent inks to produce an attractive colored metallic effect. This process is currently patented. Further developments involve offset UV adhesives and inks, though the adhesion of the UV ink to the foil surface is still an issue here.

The volumes of cold foil being used world wide are increasing at a rapid rate, and much of this is in the offset field, where the major European printing machine suppliers are offering purpose build equipment, and add-ons that can be retrofitted to a printer's existing equipment. The printing quality is improving as more development work is carried by the hot stamping foil producers, and the quality modern cold stamping foils is rapidly approaching that of hot foiling. <bio>If you are interested in cold stamping foils or in hot foiling, Paul's website http://www.hot-stamping-foil.com helps with many problems that foil blockers can face.
Baseball bats are a childhood staple that most of us take for granted. Have you ever thought about what it takes to make a baseball bat? Have you ever considered the pressures a baseball bat has to face? It's a humble but powerful piece of equipment that most kids, and many adults, just couldn't do without.

It takes an astounding 42,000 pounds of pressure to emblazon an engraving onto the side of a baseball bat. As ball players, we take don't give it a second thought as we grab our trusty sluggers and head to the plate. Who ever would have thought that the grand slam you're about to deliver has already undergone that kind of pressure?

The evolution of baseball bats is actually quite fascinating.

The old fashioned way of getting a logo onto a bat entailed "brand stamping" or "foil stamping". This method can induce an undue amount of pressure on the wood fibers that make up the ultimate composition of the carved baseball bat. The potential danger that lies in putting that much pressure on the wood is that it may result in internal fissures and damage. It would be impossible to see this internal damage, so you could be using a faulty bat without even knowing it.

These days, the stamping process of customizing a baseball bat has become almost passé. Most modern baseball bat manufacturers have taken a technological leap into the future by using laser methods to engrave their logos and signatures into bats.

Today's baseball bats are experienced in full force as a hitting device, with no prior events to test its density, or affect the solidity of its mass. When shopping for a new baseball bat, look for one with a laser emblazoned logo. It may be the jump on having a more durable and reliable slugger.

There is nothing worse than strutting to home plate, getting all points in line, swinging with grand slam force and having the ball meet bat in a cracking, splintering mess. Don't risk the heartbreak of a broken bat. Choose your weapon wisely and be a homerun hero. <bio>Nancy Anderson contributes to several online magazines, including http://recreation-site.com and http://jebog.com </bio>

The cold foiling process, as the name implies, involves foil blocking without the use of heat. Traditional hot stamping foils require heat and pressure to transfer the foil from the carrier film to the substrate being printed, whereas cold foiling does not.

A hot foil generally consists of a polyester carrier, or, more rarely, polypropylene or cellulose film, a release layer, a lacquered layer, the colour which determines the shade of gold or coloured metallic effect, a layer of vacuum deposited aluminium and finally a sized layer to give adhesion to the printed stock. A cold foil has basically the same structure, though cold foiling usually requires a thinner aluminium layer, and the adhesive layer is not always necessary.

The hot stamping foil is applied to the stock by means of a heated die, set at a temperature of between around 100 Celsius to over 200C, depending on the type of stamping press being used and the area being blocked. The heat activates both the adhesive layer and the release layer, and allows transfer of the foil from the carrier film according to the design of the die.

A cold foil, on the other hand, requires no heat and adhesion is achieved by means of a completely different mechanism. In cold foiling the design is not applied by means of a heated die, but is printed in the form a UV activated adhesive. Any printing technique can theoretically be used in cold foiling, though offset litho and flexo are the most common. The run is started, the design applied using UV adhesive from printing plate or blanket, web and cold foil are brought together through a nip then the sandwich passed under UV lamps which cure the adhesive. The cold foil and print webs are separated and rewound. Since the UV has to penetrated the aluminium layer, this is thinner in cold foiling than with hot foiling. A cold foil must have an optical density low enough for it to sufficiently transparent to UV light to allow it to cure the adhesive in the short time available.

So, in a nutshell, cold foiling involves printing an adhesive, nipping the cold foil sandwich to it, curing, then separation, leaving the foil adhered to the stock according the printed design of the adhesive.

Traditional cold foiling is normally reel-to-reel and used in the self-adhesive labelling industry, but recent developments have allowed a viable sheet-fed process to be used.

Whatever method is used, cold foiling has yet to give the high shine of traditional hot foil stamping. The nip, composed of a metal roller and a rubber impression roller, has to spotlessly clean or pinholes will be seen in the finished result. Cold foil is prone to pin-holing and other visual defects. The separation in cold foiling is crucial, as is flatness of the web. Cold foiling is particularly prone to creasing if the webs are not completely flat when brought together,

ADVANTAGES

The advantages of cold foiling are:

1. In-line foiling. The cold foiling unit can be placed in-inline after the printing processes, and if required, between printing processes. In cold foiling, the process has been converted from a slow hot stamping process to a fast printing process using a cold foil. The printer therefore bypasses an additional relatively slow process through using a cold foil rather than a hot foil.

2. Fast set-up. The use of conventional printing methods such as offset allows fast set up of cold foil as against hot foil. There is no packing required in cold foiling to ensure even pressure to the substrate since the cold foil is applied to a wet adhesive.

3. The expense of having metal dies cut is eliminated with cold foil. The cold foiling process becomes more attractive for short runs, where previously dies costs could prohibit this.

4. Since we are using a printing process, there are fewer registration problems with cold foiling. The hot foil process frequently present problems in registration which require time to put right.

DISADVANTAGES

1. Cold foil print quality is not as good as that from hot foil. The brightness is generally lacking and pinholes are frequently a problem.

2. Cold foiling requires complete cleanliness if surface defects are to be kept to a minimum, and the hardness, cleanliness, alignment and pressure of the nip roller is extremely important.

3. The energy provided by the UV lamps must be properly maintained or the cold foil will not adhere to the partially cured adhesive. In cold foiling, the transmission of the UV energy through the foil is critical. Problems can be experienced with deep cold foil colours which act as UV absorbers, and foiling to black and deep blue substrates can be difficult in cold foiling since these colours contain pigments which act as UV absorbers and thus leaves less energy to cure the adhesive. For these reasons many suppliers do not offer cold foil in deep shades.

All in all, though, cold foiling is growing in popularity due to the increased profitability it gives, especially in areas where the very highest quality of foiling is not necessary. The newer offset cold foiling techniques are rapidly gaining ground on the quality of traditional hot foils, which is why most hot stamping foil manufacturers now include cold foil in their portfolio. <bio>Peter has been involved in the development and manufacture of both hot and cold foil systems for many years, and currently offers a range of foils on his website http://www.hot-stamping-foil.com where he gives tips and hints on foil stamping in general. </bio>

Although the home use printers can produce high quality printouts. Couples can certainly print their wedding cards at home. However, many of them will still opt to hire a wedding invitation printer to do the work. This is because it is virtually no way to do some of the printing processes at home. The followings are some of the common process that will be involved in invitation card printing.

Full Color Printing

In fact, it should be called four color printing. With the four colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK in short), you can nearly get all the colors printed. Indeed it is possible to have color printing at home and some of the home use printers are also using CMYK colors. However, it is still suggested to hire a printer to print the invitations.

First of all no all paper can be used with your printer at home. You printer probably cannot handle paper over certain thickness. Besides, some of the paper cannot be used with the ink of toner of your printer. On the other hand, if you would like to have some special colors such as fluorescent colors or metallic colors, there is no way to print these colors at home. In this case the only choice is to hire a professional wedding invitation printer.

You may plan to make your own wedding invitation design using your PC and give the computer files to the printer to have the print job done. In this case you have to communicate with your printer for all the necessary requirements. Some examples will be the resolution of the images required (usually 350dpi) and the format of the file (CMYK instead of RGB format).

Die-cutting

Die-cutting is not a printing process but a post printing process. In fact, all the techniques that are going to be discussed below will be post printing processes. With the technique of die-cutting, you can make beautiful "cutting-out" on your wedding invitation. However, if you are thinking of very fine and delicate patterns, die-cutting cannot be used. In this case you will need to go for the option of laser cutting. With laser cutting you can make very fine "cutting-out" but that will probably increase the cost of production.

Besides laser cutting, any technique related to laser is laser marking. With laser marking, patterns can be "marked" on the paper. The effect of laser marking varies from material to material. For some paper you can see the marks on the paper and for some out kind of paper, you can only use you hand to feel the marks.

Hot Stamping and Emboss

On your wedding invitation, you can also have some patterns embossed such that people can feel the patterns with their hands. One of the common application of emboss on invitation card design is embossing the logo or monogram of the couple. Apart from emboss, hot stamping is also a common technique that will be used in producing wedding invitations. You can choose the color of the hot stamping foil and some of the common colors are gold, silver and purple. Couples will usually choose foils with shiny effect since the invitation will look more elegant this way. The most common application of hot stamping the contents of the wedding invitations, normally couples will have the words on the cards hot stamped instead of printing. <bio>TM Lung is a wedding invitation designer.
Seasonal redecorating isn't a new concept by any means, so it is really no surprise that many families choose to do things like repaint and redecorate at the commencement of a new season. Sometimes this is done out of necessity like making the redecorating transition from winter to spring since the weather is significantly different and people may want to soften up the warm cozy winter d=E9cor to match the light airy feel of the new season or to let some of the indoor warmth out and some of the outdoor coolness in. Perhaps one of the easiest ways to change the d=E9cor in your home is with a fresh coat of paint and a few different accessories and furnishings. So here are some cool tips that you may find useful when decorating and painting your home for the transition to warmer seasons.

A great way to add a bit of spring and summer in your home is with decorative painting. Decorative painting is a technique used in painting in which sponging, stenciling/stamping, and ragging patterns are created on walls, under your base coat. These different techniques really allow you to brighten up a plain or dull room, and the best part is that it is extraordinarily cheap and easy to do.

Sponging works particularly well with a base coat of paint since the distribution of paint on your wall surface is very sporadic and a tad rough looking which serves to give your walls texture or the appearance of texture, and a base coat between the sponge marks enhances the idea of texture and depth to the surface. This is a great idea if you have a dark base coat since all you will need to do is dab a lighter shade of your existing colour on the walls, and of course, you do it to your heart's content and until you are satisfied with the effect.

For a more patterned and creative design many people opt for the stamping or stenciling technique. Stenciling and stamping give a regulated design that looks like wallpaper over the base coat. The great thing about this technique is that your pattern or design can match the d=E9cor you are going for simply by choosing a pattern that is along the lines of your desired season. You don't have to be Picasso or some artistic genius since the stamps and the stencils already carry the pattern, you just have to apply them to your walls in a manner that you like!

Whenever you think of making that painting and redecorating seasonal transition, especially when the transition is from winter to spring and summer transition you automatically think about bright, vivid, lively colors. So it really goes without saying that when rerecording and repainting, think bright and airy and choose your colours as such. Colours like pastel blues, greens and yellows are great summery colours and they do wonders to brighten up your room and invite that natural freshness into your home! <bio>One Final Tip: Do get many ideas before starting any home project, visit http://www.allaboutthehome.info a site offering tips on matters like creative home furnishings, kitchen appliances and much more. </bio>

I started out as a stamper. I remember being amazed at how a line art drawing could produce such beautiful results. I started out simply stamping and coloring in and progressed to more advanced techniques. And then I was introduced to Scrapbooking via a home party. But I was a stamper! How could I combine the two?

I began incorporating my rubberstamps into my scrapbooks and you can too. You can use rubberstamps as backgrounds, titles, decorative accents, decorative borders and any way you can think of. For me using rubberstamps in my scrapbooks provided an additional creative expression to pass down to my children. Of course, rubberstamp styles and techniques have changed over the years and even some stamps are available specifically for Scrapbooking. Here are a few ideas for incorporating rubberstamps into your scrapbooks:

* Stamps as backgrounds-Randomly stamp all over a sheet of 12x12 cardstock to create your own custom background combining color combinations to coordinate with your photos. Idea: stamp various leaves in beautiful fall colors randomly on a sheet of 12x12 cardstock. A perfect background for photos of your kids playing in the leaves!

* Stamps as titles-Many stamps would make great titles all by themselves. A stamp that says "Happy Easter" would make a perfect title for an Easter layout.

* Alpha stamps as titles-There are plenty of alphabet stamp sets in various fonts. Pick your favorite or two and stamp a title. Or simply stamp the first letter in a journaling block. Stamp the letters a little staggered for a fun look and then you don't have to worry about stamping a straight line. Another idea is to stamp out the letters to compose the word or phrase you want and then punch out with decorative punches. Circles, squares, tags, flowers and other decorative punches for a whimsical touch to your pages.

* Stamps as decorative accents-stamps of children in Halloween costumes make a cute accent to your Halloween pages. Or how about a stamped snowman for the "playing in the snow" pages?

* Stamps as decorative borders-stamp around the page, along one side, as a border on a photo matt or journaling box. For example, on a baby page stamp baby theme images like a bottle, pacifier, teddy bear, etc. as your border.

If you have rubberstamps and have been wanting to incorporate them into your scrapbooks, I hope the above ideas will help get the creative juices flowing! You can even use the same ink brushed, sponged or stippled to add a distressed or shabby chic look. So what are you waiting for? Try stamping in your scrapbooks today! <bio>Dawn Stegall is the owner of http://www.FaithfullyYours.net a Christian scrapbook resource site. She is also a regular contributor at http://www.ThatScrapbookSite.com where you can find more ideas and sample layouts for http://www.thatscrapbooksite.com/Scrapbooking-rubberstamps.html </bio>

The Stampin Up! Company was originally founded by two sisters, LaVonne Crosby and Shelli Gardner in 1988.

Both sisters were interested in finding a home based business opportunity that involved their passion of rubber stamping.

The sisters searched and searched for such a business and quickly discovered nothing like it existed. Therefore, they decided to begin their own home based business, Stampin Up!

In the beginning stamp orders were filled in Shelli's living room. They quickly outgrew the home and moved in to several different facilities. After outgrowing each one, they finally found a place they could call home, in Kanab, Utah, where the manufacturing side of the company is still located. However, in order to provide additional growth opportunities, the business's home office was moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2004, a new facility was opened in Riverton, Utah. The company has now expanded its doors to include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, France and Germany.

The company's first catalog was published in 1997. The catalog simply featured artwork that could only be found through Stampin Up! What began with only a small number of demonstrators have now grown to consist of tens of thousands of demonstrators.

The company credits its success to eight key principles: Relationships, Integrity, Personal Development, Balance, Efficiency, Growth, Change and Positive Environment.

The Stampin Up! Company is a proud member of the DSA or Direct Selling Association. The job of the DSA is to provide and enforce a code of ethics that all members must strictly follow.

Stampin Up! sells their products through in home demonstrators. The demonstrators are able to set their own hours, work as many or as little hours as they choose, make some extra cash, all while having fun working with stamps. The demonstrators attend various different training sessions. As well, they are offered a variety of different incentives to help motivate their sales.

As a host of a Stampin Up! Workshop, you invite family and friends over to your home to learn about exciting techniques and products offered by a demonstrator. Stampin Up! Hostesses not only learn a variety of different stamping techniques, they also get to view new project ideas and have a great time with people they enjoy being with.

When you purchase the rubber stamps, they come unassembled. However, they are quite easy to assemble. You will need to trim the rubber part of the stamp as close to the image as possible. Then you will need to match the rubber stamps with their correct blocks and peel off the sticky label and apply. You will also need to apply the correct label to each stamp.

Before long, you will be on your way to creating unlimited projects with your new stamps.

What began as a way for two sisters to make some extra money, all while working from their home, has turned into a company spread throughout many countries. The company allows demonstrators to not only make extra money, but allows them to set their own hours. The demonstrators are able to sell products they enjoy working with, while being able to make lifelong friendships.<bio>You can read our Unbiased, expert review of Stampin Up from Brian Garvin and Jeff West at MLM Review Kings.
Are you interested in making homemade jewelry? Love scrap booking, stamping, or other crafts? Are you a skilled and passionate writer? Have you always had a degree of mechanical or technical aptitude that you love to apply to any task and enjoy the outcome? There is great news for you! Having a passion or hobby in the twenty-first century does not mean that you have to toil away at a mundane nine-to-five job in order to support your practice. You may want to consider starting your own business that operates out of your home and supplies your expertise or products to people in your city, state, and beyond!

The first step in identifying your strengths and the potential of starting your own business is in an accurate and honest assessment of what it is you can do, and how well you can do it. Even the tasks that seem easy to you may be difficult for others, and the fact that you can do it with such ease will help you to establish clients that will come back for more. Any kind of hobby involving crafts has the potential to become a home business. You can generate ideas on how to carry out the hobby cheaply for others, getting the best results for their money. You can even combine your craft abilities with other areas in order to provide clients with a much better alternative than more traditional means- for example, a person who loves stamping could consider starting her own stamp store, or branch out and advertise her ability to create personalized invitations for weddings or other event for a much more affordable price than a printer would charge.

The second step here is to face your fear. All of us feel that our venture may not succeed, and if so we could be crushed. It may be that your foray into business will not be successful, but then again, it may be a lot easier than you think! Until you try, you will never know.

Once you have determined the direction you would like to take your passion, it is crucial that you form a business plan. Have goals in mind as to what you would like to bring in per week, especially as it applies to quitting any day job you may currently hold. As you start your business, you will begin to establish valuable connections with both similar businesses and clients. You will want to keep your clients coming back, and do not miss any opportunity to advertise your services to suppliers or even competitors- if you have a god rapport with other businesses, odds are that they will refer people to you when they have as many cases as they can handle.

Finally, remember that clients are the backbone to every business. You will have to deal with some unpleasant customers no matter what business you are in, and if you are just starting out then it is crucial that you swallow your pride and eat what they have to dish out. In a like manner, you will probably find that you will initially be paid less than what your services are truly worth. This is part of establishing a business. Odds are that the people who are using your services know the deal that they are getting by using you, so there may come a time when they will offer you a better deal. If not, don't be afraid to ask (politely) for a fairer price on the next job, and remember that when you are really established you can trade your low-paying clients for ones that pay better. Always keep in mind that referrals are the keystone of any business, even in the cyber age. If basic human understanding is not enough to motivate you to deal with some difficulties, then your bottom line certainly should be! <bio>Jeff Jackson maitains a website dedicated to helping people succeed in home based businesses.
According to a survey reported by CNNmoney, the average spending on a wedding is USD27,000 in 2006. This is not really a small amount of money. Indeed some couples may find that weddings are something quite expensive, if not extremely expensive. To this end, a couple will probably like to seek for different ways to save money for their wedding.

Although the cost for producing wedding invitation may not be too much compared to other items for wedding such as the cost of taking wedding photos, it is still worth lowering the cost for making the wedding cards. The cost can be controlled by different ways. Money can be saved by choosing the right material, controlling the printing processes adopted, using a ready made envelop and pay as much as attention to the proof reading of the wedding card.

Choose the right material

The material contributes to about 50% of the cost for a wedding invitation. There is no doubt that the cost of using a glass bottle will be a lot higher than using a printing card. Assuming that a couple will choose a printing card, different kinds of paper will still play a significant role for the cost of the wedding invitation.

Some people are eager to get a thicker card. However, the cost of a card, of 300gsm, say, is more expensive that a card of 200gsm. A balance should be taken for the thickness and cost. Normally, a card of 210gsm to 250gsm will be good enough since the "total thickness" will be doubled when it is folded.

Besides the thickness, the type of paper chosen also affects the cost. Usually paper with recycle contents is more expensive. A couple may still go for that even if it is more expensive since we should try our best to protect our Earth. Paper with texture and sparkling effects will also cost more. You can always ask your printer for different kind of paper in order to get the cheapest and most acceptable one.

Control the printing and post printing processes adopted

It is a common sense that things involve more processes will cost more. This is also true for printing your wedding invitation. A card with one color printing will be a lot cheaper than a card with four color printing. Of course it will be more flexible with a four color printing, but a card with only one color can also be excellent. A black and white wedding photo delivers a quality of romance which is beloved by many professional photographers.

Embossing and hot stamping are also post printing processes that will make the cost of wedding invitation higher. In fact the costs of embossing and hot stamping are usually determined by the area of getting embossed and hot stamped. A larger area will lead to a higher cost. If you really like the effects of these processes, you can lower the cost by controlling the area of embossing and hot stamping.

Choose ready made envelopes

You will certainly need envelopes for your wedding invitation. Choosing a ready made envelop will make the cost a lot lower. Tailor made envelopes can cost as much as USD3.00 each. It is sure that a tailor made envelope will be a bit more elegant and interesting since you can control not only the material used to make the envelope but also the way of folding.

However, ready made envelopes are usually good enough for your wedding card in most cases. In fact wedding invitation providers usually have different collections of ready made envelopes for you to choose from. You can try to choose the one you like most from these collections and take the idea of tailor made envelopes as the last resort.

Read the contents of the invitation carefully

You should always read the contents about the details of the wedding ceremony and reception on the wedding invitation carefully. You may need to print the whole thing again if you find that there are mistakes after all the invitation cards are printed.

As a result you should never think the proof reading is something unimportant. You will need to take extra care on the spelling of the words, and also the date and time of the wedding reception. <bio>Jerry Leung is a wedding invitation designer based in Hong Kong.
Believe it or not, you can start a successful home business without any expertise or special gifts in an area like writing or creating. It is very possible to make a comfortable living from home simply by selling everyday items to every day people. All that is required is hard work and identifying the needs of others.

There are several items that are available in wholesale that can be purchased and sold at a profit. The key is to identify these items, and where they can be purchased at good prices. Some companies may even offer a start up kit to new home business owners. After you have determined a product, the next step will be to select a distribution method. First, let's take a look at some of the items that are selling well for individuals these days.

Sunglasses: Sunglasses continue to gain in popularity. They can be marketed in several ways. Their appeal as fashionable apparel has been obvious since the advent of the silver screen, and almost everyone feels a little cooler just by donning some shades. They are also marketable as safety items, which can help protect the eyes from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Lastly, sunglasses are very easy to lose, and thus most people will purchase several pairs over one season. The downside to selling shades is that they are really only popular during the summer months, so if you choose to concentrate on this item you will have to be prepared for some slow months and a few very very busy ones. There are several wholesalers that offer start up kits and good prices on shades, including Solar Sunglasses and L.E.X. Wholesale, Inc.

Craft Items: There is no bigger hobby in North America right now than crafts. For reasons that defy the logic that most males live by, women are absolutely crazy about crafting and the direct benefits of this can be seen in the areas of stamping and scrap booking. Scrap booking is the biggest in craft fads right now, and that is great news for the potential home business operator. Scrapbooks incorporate most areas of craft, from painting to stamping and all area in between. A small operator can purchase many different types of craft supplies, from special scissors to generic stamps and ink pads, and different styles of paper. Marketed correctly, most scrap bookers will wonder how they ever did without some of the items you sell. There is also a great potential here for referrals and repeat business.

Tea: That's right, I said tea! Once the symbol of American rebellion, tea is finally taking its place in American culture. This should not be too surprising, given the popularity of the confectionery in the rest of the world. The advent of the popularity of tea in the United States is probably attributable to the many health benefits that can be derived from certain types, such as herbal and green teas. Tea is a great mark up item and the competition is not yet too stiff for people to make a good profit. <bio>Jeff Jackson is the webmaster of a site focused on helping people start their own home businesses.
In Hong Kong, couples will think that traditional wedding cards are something old fashioned, in red color with golden hot stamping. Besides, all these traditional invitation cards are all provided by a few printing companies and all of them look alike. They would like to make their wedding as unique as possible and as a result they will have a perception that it will not be a good idea to choose wedding invitations with traditional designs.

Virtually, the alternative choice for the traditional invitation cards is invitations with what people in Hong Kong called western style (in fact I will define that as Hong Kong style). They are usually white in color, which is a great contrast to the traditional red color. However, white color in China usually means death. As a result, the parents of the couples may not like this kind of wedding invitations since these cards touch the taboos of Chinese people.

In fact, the choice of wedding invitation can result in disagreement between the couple and the parents. There was a couple who wanted to order the western style wedding invitation. And as a consequence they ordered them from a print shop and after they got everything printed, they found that their parents did not like the invitation designs very much.

The couple was really in a dilemma since they did not even think about the problem of white color wedding invitations. And finally they had to order everything again. This time what they order is the red color design in order to satisfy the requirements by their parents.

In fact couples are not reluctant to use the red color wedding invitation designs. They do not find the color an obstacle. The main problem is the design of these traditional cards. The cards are not properly designed. Indeed the companies which provide such wedding cards are print shops rather than designers. We have to admit that the interest of a designer and a print shop will be very different. The help of professional designers will be needed in order to make the traditional red color wedding cards more elegant.

As a graphic designer myself, I do not see anything wrong with the red color and golden hot stamping. They are only a choice of color and printing technique at the end of the day. In fact I am an advocate of traditional elements. However, we should manipulate the design elements wisely so that we do not copy what the print shop did in the past. For example, we can introduce Chinese paper cut patterns into the wedding invitations to make the invitation cards more elegant.

From my point of view, the print shops should work hand in hand with professional designers to redefine a new generation of Chinese wedding invitations. We should try to design the wedding invitations in a way that it is on one hand in line with the Chinese tradition and on the other hand has their own merits. Modern designs today can become traditional designs tomorrow. We need to constantly define and redefine our modern designs such that unique Chinese wedding invitations can be made. <bio>TM Lung is a wedding invitation designer.
Kids room decorating are an opportunity waiting to come to life! No where else can you mix and match a variety of paint schemes along with creative stencils, stickers, sparkles and get away with it. Best of all, your kids can be involved in transforming their room into their own accomplishments while redecorating at the same time.

Some creative ideas on decorating kid's bedrooms:

Furniture - Make a whole play area from an ordinary bookcase. Choose bright colors that match your child style and add features such as cutout doors for a doll house or castle effect. Add texture materials to one or two compartments that create a window or door like feature. When your child has out-grown the design, you can easily remove the materials and doors and replace them with the original materials that you saved. Other ideas can be used with Lego or large building blocks to create more designs to match your child's age.

Walls - Turn your kid's walls in a big canvas. Paint is the perfect solution and least expensive way to create a kaleidoscope impact while offering unlimited color options. Just changing one wall or adding stripes, borders, sponge or stamping techniques can bring new life to an ordinary room. Use wavy or splat design patterns, or turn one wall into a mural effect. Choose a bright base and pick accent colors to achieve the best effects.

Ceiling - Create a magical night sky on your child's ceiling with glow in the dark decorations. These can be fun and even comforting for your child to be able to lie in bed and gaze up at the night stars

Doors - Use wooden letters that spell your child's name and glue them on the door. Painting them in the theme color of your child room will dress up the door nicely. Closet door hardware can be replaced with wiggly handles or their favorite cartoon character. By matching the door hardware with wall plates you can carry the pattern through out the room that accents their style.

Shelves - Using shelving materials can be the least expensive way to pick up the clutter and organize a room. Painting with the same colors or add design features with stencil or stamping can quickly dress up any room. Different shelve designs can also be used to border a window that eliminate the need for expensive window treatments.

Accessories - Large cork boards can quickly turn a bare wall into a busy space. Cork boards also eliminate holes in walls from nails or tacks that later need to be repaired. Wooden picture frames can be painted to help accent the room. Fans blades can be reversed and painted with designs to add cool effects when in use and then can be reversed when it comes time to re-decorate.

Decorating your kid's bedroom is a great way to give them a place they can call their own and you may just find your kid spending more time in there! <bio>2006 - Mike Boyd.
Greeting cards started out as simple slips of papyrus, that were exchanged by both the Egyptians and Chinese as messages of goodwill. As the concept of greeting cards evolved, Europeans began to send them to one another for holidays such as Valentine's Day -- and this occurred as early as the 1400's. Of course, these cards were handmade and expensive so not everyone could afford to send greeting cards for their holiday well-wishes.

Greeting cards really hit the mainstream in the 1850's, when commercial printing as well as the invention of the postage stamp started to allow people all over the world to send greeting cards to their loved ones. Now, greeting cards are a billion dollar business, with people purchasing and sending cards for holidays including religious celebrations, birthdays, and even just as a simple thank you or gesture of love. The two largest greeting card companies, Hallmark and American Greetings, offer cards that are perfect for any occasion, with themes and illustrations that are great for all tastes.

Of course, you don't need to buy your greeting cards in a store. Computers and home printers have made it easy to create and print out your own cards at home. Many people have also taken up paper crafts, and have taken to hand making their own greeting cards out of many different materials, with embellishments ranging from ribbons to beads. Some even go as far as to make their own paper, which is a time consuming process but definitely shows your recipient just how much you care. Hand painting and rubber stamping with ink can complete your homemade creation.

Greeting cards have evolved from an item used only by the rich to an everyday tradition. Whether you want to communicate with far-off relatives, or just let your sweetie know how much you love them -- greeting cards make a great (and inexpensive) way to brighten up someone's day! <bio>Get Birthday Cards and Greeting Cards. http://www.sharpcards.com/ </bio>

Concrete has long been used in building, for stairs, and so much more. The functions that concrete can have vary greatly, as it is a widely used product. However, decorative concrete brings out a whole new use for concrete.

Concrete can be used as a decoration such as in walls, lawn accessories, floors, countertops, and more.

Embedding Personal or Decorative Items =96

With decorative concrete you can have a countertop completely personalized by having your personal affects embedded in the concrete such as keepsakes that have a special sentimental value for you. You could also use your favorite items such as seashells from your favorite beach, or even from childhood, embedded in your concrete countertops.

Colorful, Decorative Concrete =96

We often think of concrete as being gray in color. However, when using concrete as a decorative material iron oxides can be mixed into the concrete to create colors such as yellow, black and red. Of course, the specific hue of those colors (yellow, black and red) can be different depending on how dark or how bright you want them to be.

Decorative Concrete Stamps =96

Hey, the stars in Hollywood do it, so why not you? When the concrete is still wet you can have certain designs stamped into the concrete to create a variety of different styles. You could also use stamping to create a stone or brick style to your concrete.

Decorative concrete can have so many different uses, and concrete is a wonderful choice for your home because it is so strong, easy to care for, and will last probably longer than your home itself. You can even change anything you want with the decorative concrete you already have in your home by making different colors, adding slabs to create something new and different. Nothing you do with decorative concrete has to stay there forever. You can change it at a later time if you decide that you want to do that.

You can change the color of your existing concrete by using acid staining, which creates a chemical reaction that changes the color of the concrete, or you can use concrete dyes. However, many people are turning to acid staining their concrete because of the fading effects concrete dyes can have. It was found that sunlight made the colors fade with concrete dyes if the concrete was left outside, or if sunlight were to hit a portion of your concrete wall or floor.

This is a versatile and semi permanent way to decorate your home. Decorative concrete walls, countertops, lawn accessories, and floors can be a great choice for you and your home. <bio>Learn more and get a free newsletter at http://myhomeimprovementtips.com and for more tips and resources, head to http://www.tipsonconcrete.com </bio>
