A speed limit is the fastest speed that one is allowed to travel on roadways in a motor vehicle. Speed limits are usually set by legislative bodies and enforced by law enforcement. The speed limits that are set are usually what is appropriate for the driving conditions on a particular road. If the road is narrow or very curvy, it may have a lower speed limit than a road similar to it that is a little wider and has less curves. Highways, however, are quite unique in their speed limits for several reasons. One of those reasons is that they are usually straight and quite wide. This means their speed limits are higher than 2 lane roads that can be narrow or the streets in town.

The speed limits that are set on a highway are not higher than what is reasonable, so they do not endanger a person's safety. However, it is important that an individual adjusts their speed for such conditions as fog, rain, or snow despite what the speed limit says. There are areas that actually post minimum speed limit signs to keep the flow of traffic in check, but in hazardous conditions, it is not necessary to obey these minimum speed limit signs and not recommended to travel at the maximum speed.

This is common in the U.S., but what about speed limits in other areas around the world? Montana used to have a highway with no speed limit. Are there any more highways anywhere in the world that has no speed limit?

And there is.

The Auto Bond highway in Germany has no speed limit. It doesn't matter how fast a person drives, they will not get pulled over for speeding. This is where the "rule of thumb" regarding not driving faster than what is reasonable comes in. Only about 30% of the motorways in Germany actually have speed limits, but there is no universal speed limit put in place.

As for other speed limits around the world:

=95 The United States: Anywhere between 55 and 80 mph =95 The United Kingdom: 70 mph =95 France: 68 mph when it is raining and 80 mph when it is not =95 Italy: 80 mph, but is reduced to 70 mph in rainy conditions and on curvy roads. The speed limit can go as high as 95 mph on roads that are straight with three lanes going each direction. =95 Netherlands: 75 mph on most motorways, but there are some places in which the limits are 62 mph. =95 Switzerland: 75 mph =95 Canada: 55 to 70 mph =95 China: 75 mph =95 Australia: 80 mph

With the exception of Germany, most speed limits are enforced on highways. Usually, if the traveler is traveling within 10 mph over the speed limit, law enforcement may not issue a ticket. In fact, only about 1% of speeding tickets are for violations 10 mph below the speed limit. However, every country has their own guidelines regarding how they enforce speed limits. The United Kingdom, for instance, considers it an offense if a person is exceeding the speed limit by what is considered tolerable plus 10% plus 2 miles. This is an example of a formula used rather than simply ticketing someone for going a certain number of miles per hour over the speed limit.

Nevertheless, it is fair to say that if you are going to visit a country, it is good to obey the speed limits because you can receive a speeding ticket if you're not complying with the posted speeds. If there is a highway and a sign posting the speed limit, then that means there is a law enforcement officer to pull you over if you don't obey. <bio>Personal, business or holiday car hire.
Traffic signs can be found all over the roads, helping drivers get from one destination to another. Traffic signs are used to incur speed limits, give directions and warn drivers of dangers in their immediate driving vicinity. Traffic signs vary not only from country to country but even from state to state within the United States. Traffic signs help the flow of traffic by making it easier for drivers to figure out where to turn for certain streets and other major highways. Traffic signs also aid in getting drivers to rest stops, gas stations, hotels and restaurants.

Traffic signs differ in size, color and design from state to state and from category to category. The most important signs used throughout the United States are stop signs, speed limit signs and road danger signs. Road danger signs include areas with deer, moose, falling rock, steep hills, road closures and severe curves in the roadway. Across the country various departments of transportation are implementing lit roadway signs to make them more visible during night hours and during inclement weather. These lit signs include no left turn, no u-turn and no turn on red. They are placed on the pole that holds the traffic light, which makes them more visible right off the bat.

Other important traffic signs are ones for handicap parking, no parking, no idling and no trucks over two tons. Traffic signs are the backbone of the automotive industry and without them driving would be dangerous and tedious because there would be chaos on the roads. Traffic signs range from yellow, to red, to green, to white in the United States. The majority of green traffic signs can be found on national highways such as I-95 on the East coast and I-80 from Teaneck, NJ to San Francisco, CA.

One sign that has been left out so far but can't be forgotten is the all-important railroad crossing sign. A circular, yellow sign, the railroad crossing sign has an X on it with an R on either side of the X to warn drivers of railroad tracks crossing through the roadway. At the crossing there is a light stand with a gate that blocks the roadway and a massive sign in the shape of an X with two red lights attached to it to warn motorists of an impending train.

Traffic signs have become objects of theft over the years, especially street signs. Stealing street signs has been a popular dare among teenagers, especially if the sign has the name of a friend or family member on it. The signs are taken off their pole and taken home for display. Traffic signs cost anywhere from $100-$500 to replace and theft of traffic signs are treated like all other theft crimes. If the culprit is found they are either fined and/or jailed and it goes on their record. Street sign theft can be extremely dangerous because that missing street sign could be vitally important to an intersection or section of roadway. Street sign theft could also prove to be deadly if the signs are taken from a highly congested area.<bio>Car Transport QuoteCar Shipping Quote</bio>

Some people get nervous when they drive a car. Driving can be a safe experience if you follow some simple rules. Here are a few suggestions on how to drive safely without getting stressed out.

The first step is to obey the speed limit. The faster you go over the speed limit, the more chances you will get into an accident. The speed limit is there for a reason so try to follow it. If you go too fast, you will increase your chances of getting into an accident. Also reduce how fast you go when driving in bad weather.

Drive defensively will help prevent you from getting into an accident. If somebody near you is driving recklessly, give him additional space on the road and let him or her pass you by. Do not engage people who drive fast and dangerously. Just let these dangerous drivers drive by and stay away from them.

Play it safe when you drive. Avoid trying to take shortcuts that could increase your chances of getting into an accident. For instance, people tend take risks to avoid sitting in traffic for a couple of minutes. They will change lanes into the line of traffic or do something that might be risky. This may save you a few minutes but you could get into an accident. Be patient when you are driving. Take your time when you drive and be a little patient.

You can drive safely but it is up to God if you will get into an accident. If God wants you to get into some kind of accident, it will happen regardless of what you do. You need to trust in God that he will watch over you.

Driving can be fun and safe if you obey the traffic laws and speed limit. Be a safe driver and get there in one piece. If you have to wait in traffic for an extra few minutes, then wait. There is no hurry. Be a safe driver and this should help reduce your anxieties of driving. <bio>Stan Popovich is the author of "A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear" an easy to read book that presents a overview of techniques that are effective in managing persistent fears and anxieties.
Outside of the United States, there has been a widespread ban on car radar detectors. However, this is not a new motion. In Canada and in many European countries, radar detectors have been illegal for some time now because of the fact that they would normally allow motorists to break the law until the mildly annoying beeping noise notified them of police presence.

In that case, the motorist would quickly slow down to the proper speed and nobody ever had to know that they had been driving 50 Kmph over the speed limit.

The radar detector would notify the motorist in plenty of time before the police caught them on their radar. It seemed like the perfect crime. However, radar detectors were soon outlawed. Some police organizations also fitted their radar with a detector that would detect... well... radar detectors.

In other words, they developed a radar-detector detector. For the most part, this made it nearly impossible to use one and get away with it. Now the word on the street is, why are radar detectors banned? What is so bad about them?

The counter-argument to those who advocate use of the radar detector is simple. The anti-radar detector group believed that motorists who use radar detectors pose a greater risk on the road than those who do not use them. At first glance, you may be inclined to agree with the anti-radar detector group simply because those using radar detectors would be more likely to drive faster, therefore increasing the risk of accident.

However, the 2001 Mori Report tells us that those drivers using a radar detector actually pose 28% less risk than those who do not use them. Interestingly, this may point to the fact that those drivers who drive at or under the speed limit pose as great of a risk of accident, if not more, than those who drive over the speed limit.

In Canada, the car radar detector is illegal in all provinces and territories except Alberta and Saskatchewan. It was legal in most provinces until the late 1980's and early 1990's. <bio>Robert Coram writes for http://radarfinder.com is a website filled with resources on car radar detectors and wireless radar detectors </bio>

Also, try not to volunteer too much information. Obviously you have to answer his questions, but don't add to much...just answer the question.

The first question the police officer will most likely ask you is if you know why you have been stopped. At this point, you have three options to choose from.

Firstly, you can completely admit that you were speeding. The officer would appreciate this, as this is what he wants. The police officer will be taking notes on everything you say to him, so if you feel that you will definitely get a speeding ticket then you should avoid directly admit to the police officer that you were speeding.

The second option you have is to deny that you were speeding. Keep in mind that this approach is going to create some tension between you and the police officer. If you don't have a good argument to prove to the police officer that you weren't speeding, he will still give you a ticket.

The upside to this, however, is if you deny speeding, you have a better chance of beating the ticket when it goes to court, because you denied speeding from the outset.

The third option you have is to neither admit nor deny the fact you were speeding. Often this approach will work best. When you are stopped and asked if you know why you were stopped act as if you don't know why.
It you have been driving for any length of time, you most certainly have come across one or more occasions where you were caught speeding. It is always an unpleasant experience to be pulled over by a police officer and to be handed a speeding ticket.

However, there are ways you could be savvier and avoid getting caught speeding:

* On a road with more than two lanes, drive in the middle lane. When you drive in the middle lane, nestled in the middle a bunch of speeding cars, you are less likely to be picked up by the radar detector and by the police officers. Instead, vehicles in front of or on the side of this speeding pack will more likely be caught for speeding. Driving in the middle lane also allows you to spot police officers easier than driving in the outside lanes

* Avoid changing lanes frequently as it tends to draw attention from the police who are on the lookout for vehicles weaving in and out of the lanes. It is best to stay in one lane and drive at around the same speed as those cars around you. It will make you less noticeable to the police and less likely to be picked up by the radar detectors.

* Drive up behind or beside another motorist who is driving over the speed limit and then take note of his speed, After having done so, slow down and pull back a bit so that your speed is slightly slower than his. So in case the car in front suddenly brakes to avoid a speed trap, you will have enough time to slow down before the cops can record your speed, while the car in front will be more likely to be fined a speeding ticket.

However, if you still get pulled over despite the above precautions, you could still possibly wiggle your way out of a speeding ticket with just a warning from the police officer:

* Having a good attitude helps. Addressing the officer respectfully, referring to him or her as andquot;Officerandquot; and paying close attention to what the officer is saying will help. Furthermore, if this is your first infraction and you did not go too much over the speed limit, the police officer may be inclined to just give you a warning.

* Having a bad attitude and cursing at the police officer will only result in a hefty fine. If the officer sees that you are not taking the situation seriously, the officer is more likely to go ahead with the citation in order to teach you a lesson.

* Do not admit to the police officer that you did actually break the speed limit. Doing so would limit your option in court and leave you no room to plead not guilty in court. If you take full responsibility while the officer is writing up the speeding ticket, the officer will testify to that in court. You would have lost the case on the spot, and you would have to pay the full penalty.

If you still get a speeding ticket though, it might then be a good idea to consult with attorneys who specialize in traffic violations, or with retired police officers who provide speeding ticket consultations, as their expertise may help you take advantage of lesser known loopholes. <bio>For more tips on how to beat a Speeding Ticket, visit Susan's site at http://www.beating-a-speeding-ticket.info.
Love them or hate them, there is no getting around it the fact that speed cameras are here to stay. Some love the fact that they cut speeding down while others say they are nothing but a way of invading your privacy.

Regardless of the fact, if you are caught speeding then the simple answer is there isn't much you can do about it. You could of course go to Court and argue the fact, but if they caught you on film, then generally the camera doesn't lie. This of course means that in addition to the fine you originally got, you now have to pay Court costs too.

While speed cameras are undoubtedly put there to safeguard the driver and the public by cutting down and clamping down on those who habitually speed, we all speed at sometime or another even if this is as little as going just a few miles over the limit. These are the people who generally get the letter through their letterbox, the one timers, not that there is an excuse for any speeding no matter how small.

However the average person can receive between 3 and 6 points on their licence from speeding and when it comes to renewing their car insurance, this can make a huge difference to the amount they have to pay. Whether speeding is on the increase or not, one fact remains, that by April this year it was estimated that around 1.3 million drivers had on average around 9 points on their licence.

Points on your licence do make a difference to the premium that you pay and in order to get the cheapest insurance your licence should be clean.

In order to get the best possible deal on car insurance, drive safely, keep within the speed limits and shop around for the right deal. <bio>David Thomson is Chief Executive of BestDealInsurance (http://www.bestdealinsurance.co.uk) an independent specialist broker dedicated to providing their clients with the best deal on their home, motor and life insurance. </bio>

If you are anything like me, then your life is really busy and there is not enough time in the day to get everything accomplished. Busyness may be reflected in many ways in your life, such as choosing fast food over a home cooked meal or not getting enough sleep. One thing that my busy lifestyle has meant for me is fast driving. I know, it isn't safe, and I've really been working on my schedule to allow enough time for safe driving, but in the meantime I've discovered the best thing of all: a radar detector.

Basically, a radar detector is something you can buy and install in your vehicle that allows you to be made aware of when their is a police car near you. Why is this helpful, you ask? Well, for those of us who drive even a little bit over the legal speed limit, a radar detector allows us to be warned whenever there is a cop that could potentially pull us over for our bad behavior.

I know, it sounds horrible to use a radar detector because it basically allows you to break the law without getting caught for it. I have learned, however, that inspite all of my efforts to just slow down, that life is going to continue at a fast pace and hence that I need to rely on a tool like a radar detector if I have any hope of keeping my driving record clear. There have been probably fifteen instances in the past year alone where I have been speeding along from one activity to the next and my radar detector has suddenly alarmed me that their is a cop near me. I can immediately slow down to the speed limit and remove the risk that I might get caught.

Obviously, if having a radar detector were legal than every driver would have one and no one would ever get caught speeding on the roads. Not everyone has learned the secret of the radar detector yet, so that is why I am trying to enlighten other fast drivers and make it possible for a few more of us to get by without tickets. Yes, radar detectors cost money, and so not everyone will be able to purchase one. The way I look at it is that a one time purchase of a radar detector is much more reasonable than paying for an endless number of speeding tickets. So here are your options: either slow down and drive the speed limit or purchase a radar detector to protect you from getting caught in your bad habit. <bio>Julee Mitchelsin is an author and mother that is just trying to make it through life without getting pulled over. A radar detector has done the trick for her. See http://www.coolradardetector.info for more on putting this trick to work for you. </bio>

How do speed traps work and why do I have an arrest warrant?

Isn't technology wonderful. Until recently, if the police wanted to catch you driving your car too fast then they would have to follow you in a police car for a while to match your speed then stop you and write you out a ticket. You knew what was happening back then. There was no mistaking that you had just picked up a speed violation and you had to do something about it because a cop has just told you to.

Those were the days but it's all different now. You can pick up speeding tickets and other violations while you are driving without even being aware that you were doing anything wrong let alone getting caught doing it. You only have to drive past a police radar speed trap a little too fast and that's enough to trigger a citation. You will get it in the mail a few days or even weeks later. If you ignore the letter or it gets lost in the mail then it's likely that you'll end up with a warrant for your arrest.

Police radar speed traps can be detected

Have you ever stood at the side of a rail track when a train is approaching and noticed that the sound the train makes changes in pitch as it gets closer to you then further away again. This is called the "doppler effect" and the technique is used in radar speed traps to catch you exceeding the speed limit. The difference is that radar uses radio waves instead of sound but the principle is the same.

Radar speed guns send out beams of radio waves that tend to go in all directions not just directed at your vehicle. The radio waves can be detected by installing a simple device in your car which can alert you to the fact that there is a radar speed trap in the area and give you time to slow down and avoid getting a ticket.

Police Laser speed traps are harder to detect

Your radar detector won't be any help to you against the new breed of laser speed guns which are fast replacing the old radar gun trap. Laser speed detector guns send out a narrow beam of light which shines on your car and the equipment actually measures the time that it takes the light beam to hit your car and return to the gun. This is a very accurate way of measuring speed and it's also very difficult to detect one in operation because there is only one beam of light to detect.

There are no electronic counter measures that I know of that can effectively give you an early warning of a laser speed trap. This means that you could get a letter in the mail unexpectedly at almost any time. Don't ignore it when it comes because it could turn into an arrest warrant if you do.

What can you do about this new technology?

Well you could try obeying the law and keeping your speed under the limit at all times. This is easier said than done of course. First you have to make sure that you know what the speed limit is at all times then you have to keep your speed under it all the time. It only takes one small mistake on your part and you've just picked up a ticket.

If you can't avoid getting caught in a police speed trap then you must make sure that you pay the fine or protest your innocence as soon as possible. Yes the police do make mistakes so it's worth making sure that you were actually there when they say you were. If for some reason the fine turns into a warrant then you can takes steps to find out about it as soon as possible and deal with it before you get arrested.

Use new technology to find out about warrants before the cops come to arrest you

It's now possible to search the entire country to find out if you've got an arrest warrant. Only recently has new Internet technology been available to enable you to do this. It's so simple that you can do a comprehensive search in much less than 10 minutes. This means that you can do it regularly to find out if you've picked up any warrants because you never got the letter or you've forgotten to pay the fine.

It's becoming increasingly more difficult to avoid getting arrest warrants so make sure that you find out about them fast when they do pop up. Once you've found out that you have one, deal with it as soon as you can. Speak to a lawyer to make sure that you do things the right way. Trust me, this is a whole lot better than waiting until the cops come to arrest you.<bio>Check for arrest warrants now. You can do it in less than 10 minutes online any time and as many times as you want. How do I check for Arrest Warrants Did you know that there is more than one kind of arrest warrant? http://www.howdo-i.com/backgroundcheck/whatisanarrestwarrant.php</bio>

If you are concerned about how fast your teen is driving, or if your spouse is being unfaithful, a gps vehicle tracking device can assist you in keeping tabs on them.

A gps vehicle tracker is a usually a small device that you can attach to the bottom of the vehicle by a magnet, or you could secretly stash it inside the car somewhere. They come with a software program, where you can login from your favorite web browser and keep a real time track on exactly where the vehicle is.

Here are some of the really cool features. Monitor the vehicles speed. If you are worried about your precious automobile being abused, you can set the gps vehicle tracking device to a certain speed you designate. If the car exceeds this speed limit, you will be notified immediately. So if your child swears they aren't speeding, you will have the proof!

Keep track of your vehicle's whereabouts. From your computer you can track in real time exactly where your car is . Did your wife tell you she was going to the gym? Then why is her vehicle miles away from the establishment? You will be able to tell. What about your teen? Did she go to the library or is she over that guy's house that you absolutely cannot stand?

Alerts when out of the designated area. As well as speeding alerts, you can set on your computer, remotely a certain area of where you believe the vehicle should be. For instance, you can input an address and a certain radius within that address. So, if your vehicle goes out of that radius, you will be alerted as well.

Since the gps vehicle tracking device is browser based to track activity, you can access your vehicle 24/7 from any computer, even while your at work. You will simply go to a web page, enter your login info, and bam, there are the stats are your car.

Some of the better devices even store up to 90 days of activity. So, you can see exactly how many times the driver went over your designated speed limit, or how many times they stopped at a certain address which you are suspicious of.

These gps vehicle tracking devices are a cool gadget, and a tech lover's dream. You can now have all the information on your vehicle at your fingertips! <bio>Tim Chirillo is an internet developer and part time private investigator.
For those who are waiting to become pregnant, any and all signs suddenly become pregnancy related. As we watch our bodies with a vigilance never previously experienced, we become unofficial experts on the early signs of pregnancy =96 each somewhat abnormal behavior we exhibit suddenly telling the story of a pregnancy.

There are many early signs of pregnancy; unfortunately many of these signs can also be attributed to other things. The only way to know for sure if you are pregnant is to see a doctor. Early home pregnancy tests are also incredibly accurate and can be purchased over-the-counter at most retail drug outlets. If you are experiencing any early signs of pregnancy, take an early pregnancy test as soon as possible.

One of the early signs of pregnancy is fatigue. Most pregnant women will tell you that a "pregnant" tired is like a tired they have never experienced before or after. But if you are trying to become pregnant or have never been pregnant before then exhaustion caused by stress, sickness, or lack of sleep can seem like one of the early signs of pregnancy.

Breast tenderness is also one of the early signs of pregnancy. A newly pregnant body will begin to ready itself for motherhood almost immediately. The breasts will begin to change and grow as they prepare for milk production. However, breast tenderness can also be a sign of impending menstruation as well as a number of other conditions.

Additionally, nausea and vomiting are also early signs of pregnancy that women experience in the first trimester. While these signs can also be contributed to stomach illness, if they are persistent and timely then they are often early signs of pregnancy. Some women may also experience strange food cravings =96 even early on in pregnancy. Foods that they never would have thought of eating are suddenly irresistible.

No matter what you experience or do not experience as your early signs of pregnancy, it is imperative that you see a doctor if you suspect that you are pregnant. Early prenatal care will go a long way towards protecting the health of you and your baby. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about pregnancy visit our ezGuide 2 http://pregnancy.ezguide2.com </bio>

Who wouldn't like a higher credit limit on their credit card? This is because almost everyone I know loves shopping, and a higher credit limit means you can do more shopping. This especially true for those higher priced items you can't normally afford on your own.

However a higher credit limit also calls for a higher sense of responsibility, because you can bring bigger debt on yourself. It doesn't mean just because you have a higher credit limit you should spend your credit on everything you see. If you are the type of person who can handle the responsibility of a higher credit limit there are some steps you can take to get one.

A good way to increase the credit limit of your credit card is to ensure that you always follow the terms and conditions of the institution which issued your credit card. This will ensure that you have a good credit rating and will come in handy when you want to raise your limit.

If you can show the issuer of your credit card that you are a responsible person when it comes to money they will find it hard to refuse you. They also know that if they treat you well you may bring other potential clients their way. And as we all know, birds of a feather flock together. So when you are responsible, your friends are likely to be responsible too. This in turn means that your credit card company would be eager to please you, if you do your part.

Here is one other thing to remember. It is a great thing to have a higher credit limit, but the higher limit may come with higher interest rate payments as well as other fees that may be added.

So although your credit card limit may have been raised, you may now have to pay more, which may mean that you may be left with a little less. But that's a choice you'll have to make for yourself. If you think a higher limit is what you need and you can be responsible with this higher spending power, then, by all means go for it. <bio>For more information on credit cards, including how to find the best deals please visit http://www.credit-card-centre.com now. </bio>

One of the most important tips anyone can offer a teen driver about obtaining, and keeping, cheap car insurance, is the tip of driving safely and responsibly. This advice does not mean just buckling up and driving the speed limit. Driving safely and responsibly goes beyond those basics -- especially for teen drivers.

Below are some tips and advice for teens to drive safely and responsibly.

Obey the law. Obeying the law means buckling your safety belt (wearing a safety belt is a legal requirement in most states); driving the speed limit (speed limits change in different parts of town, especially in school and work zones); knowing, and respecting, what the colors of traffic lights mean; not driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or any other controlled substance; placing at least the length of one vehicle between you and the car in front of you; always signaling your next move to the vehicles surrounding you; and driving only during the times drivers your age are legally allowed to drive.

Respect your surroundings. Respecting your surroundings means driving in accordance with everything around you. Drive slower than the speed limit when weather elements such as rain and snow require it. Keep watch of pedestrians, especially children who may be playing close to the road. Pay attention to all vehicles around you, especially in high traffic areas.

Avoid unnecessary distractions. Unnecessary distractions include things such as putting on make up, eating, chatting on your cell phone, blasting the radio, and cramming too many friends into your vehicle. Many states have laws regulating how many passengers teen drivers are allowed to have. Know, and follow, those laws. When in doubt, never allow more passengers than your vehicle has safety belts.

Car insurance companies already view teen drivers as high risk. By driving safely and responsibly, teen drivers can keep traffic violations and accidents to a minimum, thus helping them maintain cheap car insurance. <bio>http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/health/ </bio>

Almost all drivers experience that cold moment when you realize you have driven for a while over the speed limit and you think you spot a police car on the side of the road well ahead of you. The fear of getting caught speeding is common to all drivers, even the ones that drive extremely slow have reported that they fear to be seen speeding by the police. It is no wonder that most people are afraid to get caught, getting caught usually means that you will have to pay the price, sometimes money and sometimes it is much, much worst.

First we must examine the reason for speeding, although this is an article about radar detectors there is some sense to keeping a speed limit, maybe you are young at this moment, but one day you will have a family, and you wouldn't want your kids to play outside and get hit by a speeding car, maybe you love racing but do not yet understand that racing requires skill and more importantly -- a track. So there is a sense in keeping a limit to the speed in which people drive.

But, as all things some people want their freedom, some don't even care about getting caught -- they just love to drive fast, other claim that they will not speed but want to be aware of who is watching them. For all these people there is one very clear and fast solution and that is the radar detector.

Car detection radar will assist you in avoiding speeding tickets and will let you know if a radar is in sight, they do not guarantee that they will spot a radar but all claim to have a high chance of success in informing the driver a radar is close. There are three basic types of radars that are used in trying to locate something that is moving at any speed, the X kind of radar, the K and the third -- the Ka- Band radar detector, all are working on the frequencies, which is the important thing about the car radar, any product that you will want to look at will need to scan the frequencies for the beam that is trying to spot it, that is why many of the radar detectors are loaded on the windshield or the dashboard of the car, for maximal visibility.

Although the way in which different radars detect the moving vehicle may differ significantly form one another, if you want to buy something that you could use for a while you should first think about where are you mainly driving and research what kind of radars are used in that area, there is no sense in going out and purchasing the most advanced product on the market if you drive around only in one area that used an old fashioned radar gun to spot speeding cars.

For maximal protection you should think about what you need and why you need it, for example you don't need it when driving in town and only when you drive long distances, you should try and find out what kind of radars is used in your area, and once you know these things research the products on the internet. Just before you purchase one ask yourself, is it not easier to simply drive by the rules?. <bio>Mario Chompass writes tips and advice on safety accessories and safety gear, you can find out more about alarm systems and car security systems at http://radar.advice-tips.com/ </bio>

With dial-up internet slowly dying and more and more homes are being connected with high speed broadband internet connection every day, Internet service providers are doing everything they can to get your hooked on. With new ISP providers entering the market every day, the prices to get a high speed connection are falling. With so many to choose from, how do you decide broadband supplier offers the right package for you?

Connection Speed - How fast?

Be a little bit weary of broadband deals advertising "up to 8mb" connection etc. It may not mean that you will get the speed they advertise. The speed you will be able to get depends on your local exchange and what your line is capable of. So always check the availability before you sign on the dotted line.

Download Limits -- The "Unlimited broadband" myth

Many ISPs advertise "Unlimited Broadband" as their unique selling point. Even these so called "Unlimited" download limits do have fair usage policies (usually not well advertised, like most small print). If you use your broadband internet connection just to browse internet, check emails and do some shopping, you may not need a huge download limit or an unlimited deal for which you have to pay more. One of the common impacts of advertising these days is to make you believe that you need something which in fact, may not be true. So know what download limit you need and do not end up paying over the odds because of seeing a flashy advertisement from an internet service provider.

Know your rights

Most of the products you buy online, including your broadband connection will be subject to some cooling off period. Even if you sign up to a one year contract, you may still be able to cancel within, say 14 days or so depending on local regulations.

Compare prices and read consumer reviews

Broadband providers keep changing their offers all the time. If you have seen an advertisement somewhere, whether it is TV or media, do not presume that you will get the same offer. Always check the latest prices when you sign up. Better still, read what other peoples experiences are with the Internet service providers using broadband provider comparison sites.

Last, but not least, consider looking for a latest deal every time you renew your contract. There is a good chance that you might find a better ISP than your current one. <bio>Compare offers from the http://www.broadbandsuppliers.co.uk/ and lean more about ISPs by reading Internet Service Provider Reviews before you buy. </bio>

One of the most tragic things that we too often hear about in almost every city in the world is car accidents. It seems like hardly a week goes by when I do not see on the news or read about a fatal or near fatal car accident that happened somewhere. I have been plagued with thinking about the tragedy of car accidents all week long. Last week a fatal car accident happened in my hometown that took the lives of three teenagers.

Most drivers know ways to avoid a car accident, but how many drivers consciously practice safe driving methods each time they are behind the wheel? I'd say very few. Very rarely are our minds actually focused on driving. We are busily running from errand to errand just trying to keep on top of the plans of our day. We are talking on cell phones and trying to do way too many things at once. It is no wonder that car accidents are happening with increasing frequency when we look at the increasing busyness and need for multi-tasking in our society today.

One of the key ways to avoid a car accident is for you, as a driver, to really pay attention to the task at hand. Commit to not multi-tasking as you drive, especially on busy roads or through crowded intersections. Keep your cell phone turned off or get one of those new headphones that allows your hands to remain on the wheel as you talk. And don't even attempt to read a book or to glance through the newspaper as you drive to work as I see too many drivers doing. Women are often driving and applying last touches to their makeup all the time. Avoid these and other distractions as you drive. The more you are focused on driving alone, the less likely it is that you will get into a car accident.

Another obvious but important way to avoid a car accident is to obey all of the road rules and traffic signals. It is far less likely that you will wind up in a car accident if you are obeying the speed limit. Yes, the speed limit. How many of us drive under or at the speed limit in every situation? Hardly any I would say. If you can slow down a few miles per hour and avoid a car accident then I'd say it is well worth it.

The bottom line is that all driving carries a risk of a car accident. While you cannot totally prevent an accident from happening, you can take steps of caution and wisdom to lessen your chances of a car accident happening to you. <bio>Rachael Cleipher has been committing to avoiding a car accident ever since she has been driving her children around. She writes to inform other parents of the dangers of poor driving for their families.
Most visitors to Ireland either bring their own car by ferry from Britain, or they fly and hire a car.

If you are hiring a car, you need to know that an automatic will cost half as much again as the identical manual gear box model.

Petrol is currently about 1.20 euro a litre, that's about 80 pence sterling and about $1.50 a litre in USD. That's about $6 a US gallon. Diesel is a small bit cheaper. Most hire cars will give you 40 miles to the gallon or more.

Visitors are often surprised by how big Ireland is. It will take you seven hours to drive from one end to the other. The Island of Ireland is actually two countries, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of Britain. From Dublin to Belfast will take you a good two hours motorway driving. Dublin to Cork will take you between four and six hours depending on the time of day.

The only motorways in Ireland are around Dublin. The motorway speed limit is 120 Km/Hr (75mph) The speed limit on National roads, N7, N8, N25, etc is 100Km/Hr (62mph). On Local roads the limit is 80 Km/Hr (50mph). National roads go through all sorts of towns and villages where you will find shoppers double parked, so your average speed off the motorways is 40mph over any distance at all.

Speed limits are enforced by the Gardai (pronounced gardEE). The Guards do not stand silhouetted against the skyline wearing bright orange jackets, as they do in Britain. In Ireland they hide behind lamp posts, crouch behind walls and hide in the bushes. You will not see them before they catch you on camera. Believe me -- I drive 30,000 miles a year in Ireland, I know.

If you are driving a UK registered car, including Northern Ireland, the Guards will not usually stop you. If you have hired a car in Ireland they will stop you, but will probably let you go once they see you are a visitor, driving on a US or UK licence. At the moment only Irish drivers can be given penalty points, though other nationalities can be fined.

Driving in Ireland is extremely hazardous, especially between 11pm and 6am. Drink driving is common, seat belts are rarely worn and drivers are aggressive and totally discourteous. Never expect another driver to give wayif he has the right of way. Drive defensively. Expect the absolutely ridiculous to happen. <bio>Sebastian Romero works in the security industry drives 30,000 miles a year in Ireland. The dial up speed of each package, though, is only guaranteed based upon where a user lives and certain technical issues.

Many broadband providers set a download limit.
Companies have to have a way to communicate with those that have the potential for buyer their products, and short of having someone yelling up and down the street as to what these products or services are, you are going to need signs. But in this day and age, it is not enough to just have a sign; you need to have bigger and brighter signs with engaging text and providing possible solutions. So, do you know how effective your signs are?

When first analyzing your signs or window graphics, you need to look at how easily recognizable the sign is to your customers. Does the image on the sign convey what your store is about? If not, it should. The majority of signs show an image or logo that is synonymous with the store. The intent is to get across the information you need to without having to use very many words. Keeping the whole process as simple as possible is very important.

The window decals that you would want to apply to your store front windows should be engaging to the customers and provide them with reasons to walk into your store. The most effective signs are the ones that give a sense of elitism to those who purchase the items that you carry. Do your signs match well with the overall theme of your store and match in color? With vinyl graphics you can purchase just about any color imaginable and include graphics that match the main store sign's logos.

Here are a few things to think about when considering if your signs or window lettering are effective enough. How do you want to appeal to and are you actually getting that sort of person into your store? Are you portraying the proper image with the signage inside and out of your store? If you are catering to, or area wanting to cater to, a certain segment of the population, then be sure to have the proper signs and lettering. You should consider the traffic that comes into the store wanting to become or a part of that segment of clientele.

The most important thing to remember about your vinyl graphics is the image that they portray. It is essential that your signs reflect what your store is all about and that it is true to the image of your store. The best case scenario would be that your signs create such a buzz in the community that people are coming into the store just to see what it is that you actually have in there. Don't be afraid to get a little wild and creative here with your signs. Curiosity can bring in more than just cats. <bio>Stew Mayers is an expert in window graphics and vinyl graphics having spent many years learning the trade in New York City.
