Antelope Canyon is the most popular and the most visited place in the LeChee district of the Navajo Nation, near Page, Arizona. Although the LeChee district hosts a number of slot canyons, the Antelope Canyon slots=97Upper Antelope and Lower Antelope=97is by far the most popular. People from around the globe love to visit this beautiful place, and capture amazing scenes in their cameras!

Upper Antelope, also known as The Corkscrew, isn't as long and deep as many other slot canyons, but it is amazingly beautiful. It is also one of the easiest slot canyons to visit, because you can drive right up to the entrance and the ground is even and leveled. During summer=97tourist season in the slot canyon=97you are need to be cooperative and patient and helpful to others in order to enjoy the time, because it is overcrowded and is sometimes frustrating.

On the other hand, Lower Antelope is a long, deep, and more challenging slot canyon=97entry is through a slit in the rocks, uneven and rocky ground. Only the first third of the slot canyon is open for tourists, and is the easiest to travel. Other two sections, i.e., the middle and the last sections, are more rugged with sharp drop offs, and require serious rope work. You must take care while in the slot canyon, and never go in if there are predictions for rain in the region, as it will be very risky.

Hiking and camping is allowed only through a valid permit, as the Antelope Canyon lies under the Navajo lands. A separate permit is required for entry into Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon; this permit has to be purchased from the Antelope Canyon Unit Office. You will need to keep copy to keep alongwith you during the visit.

You will have to pay a nominal fee to get a permit for hiking=97$5 per person per day. An additional amount of $2.50 per person per night will be charged for permitted camping; however, it is restricted to some specified areas. Sometimes, during a particular period of the year, you are required to be accompanied by a licensed tour guide, which is an additional cost.

While planning a trip to Antelope Canyon, you must be aware of the weather conditions, because if the weather is stormy you will not be permitted to enter due to the danger of flood. <bio>Paula Radmall is an outdoor enthusiast as well as an author and editor for http://www.slotcanyonexploring.com .
Shahtoosh is an illegal fiber that comes from the Tibetan Chiru antelope. Some manufacturers of pashmina use this fiber and pass it off as genuine pashmina wool. The genuine pashmina comes from the Chyangra goat, or the Capra Hircus, which lives in the mountainous regions of Mongolia and the Himalayas.

The Tibetan Chiru is a natural magnet for the botfly. This botfly burrows deep into the antelope's skin and lays eggs during the early months of summer. At almost the same time, the chiru begins to shed its thick winter coat. In order to rid itself of the fly, the chiru rubs up against briar patches. The weavers then collect the wool from the bushes. However, in the process of making shahtoosh, Tibetan Chiru antelope has to be killed. In contrast, no harm comes to the goat used to produce pashmina wool. Because the antelope is slaughtered, the population of this species is slowly dwindling. Today it is already part of the endangered species list. In 1977, Tibet passed Schedule 1 of the Wildlife (Preservation) Act of 1972, which prohibits hunting or trading this animal and other listed animals.

The Chiru antelope is found in the high regions of Tibet, in China, and in the northern parts of Kashmir. The trade of this particular shawl is mainly the domain the Kashmiris. Some Kashmiris consider Shahtoosh a precious commodity. One antelope produces about 150 grams of wool and from one kg of shahtoosh, only three shawls can be woven. After being poached, the wool is smuggled via Nepal to the Indian regions of Jammu and Kashmir. There, weavers fashion the wool into shawls, scarves and shawls that are later smuggled in other parts of the world.

In some parts of India, before the shahtoosh became completely illegal, grandmothers would pass on the shahtoosh to their grandmothers as a traditional gift. It's also part of the wedding ceremonial gifts of many Punjabi brides.

A genuine shahtoosh is considered to be the real deal if it can be pulled through a wedding ring. Despite the unglamorous method of procuring shahtoosh and despite it illegal status, shahtoosh is still being sold in the market albeit through underground means. Eager customers are usually made of fashion cognoscenti, or women from the upper echelons of society. These shawls are priced from $3,000 to $15,000. One high-end fashion magazine even featured celebrities and fashion mavens Claudia Schiffer and Uma Thurman donning what can only be shathoosh wraps. Under the picture reads the caption, "Does she or doesn't she? Are these wraps shahtoosh or legal look-alikes?" Neither celebrity fully confronted the issue and nobody knows until today.

Included in the article are also several New York socialites who have been served subpoenas due to the illegal importation of the shahtoosh. Many fashionistas are still unfazed by the ban and still continue to wear the fabric in public.

A very good alternative is the pashmina shawl, which is also as soft, as warm and as comfortable as the illegal shahtoosh. In fact, many people cannot even distinguish between the original Shahtoosh and the alternative pashmina, which are made without endangering the animals. <bio>I'm not talented at anything that most people would call art. I do, however, feel very artistic when I can devise an elegant solution to a tough problem.
Oh the beautiful South Africa. Endowed with rich tapestry of culture, vast lands, unequalled safaris...South Africa is truly a place for one who wants to reconnect with nature.

South African safaris are home to wide spectrum of animal species including the celebrated group of five: the buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant and leopard.

They were not named so because they have gained great popularity but because they mainly offer the experience of witnessing the dance of life happening in sight of travelers. They are the hunters that give fright to their preys. Thus, excitement for their viewers.

Game viewing, as this activity is called, is typically done with walking safari. However, due to the increase in popularity of canoeing, horseback riding and camel safaris walking becomes only one of a tourist' option. It is designed specifically for the hardy souls though and for the physically fit.

A standard walking safari is composed of 8 to 12 persons aged 12 to 60. This lasts for 3 days and 2 nights. With other modes of game viewing however, one should be in company of a guide.

The flagship of all South African safaris is the Kruger National Park creation of Paul Kruger, the president of Transvaal Republic in 1898. His advanced vision sparked the idea of creating wildlife sanctuaries and preservation areas to let nature continue growing at her own rate.

With the Kruger National Park, South Africa is truly unrivalled in its immense resources. The big five aside, South African harbors some of animal world's most interesting games such as the wild dogs, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, warthog, an array of antelope species and jackals, hippos, and zebras. Kruger Park is also home for some 500 species of birds and 140 species of mammals.

With its 20, 000 sq. km land area of unspoilt land, Kruger offers visitors not only its animal resources but also its wide spectrum of plant species.

South Africa safaris are not only made famous by the Kruger National Park, they also placed their names in top African destination through the fame of The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park- one of the biggest wildlife conservation areas in the world.

It is not for the fainthearted though. This is the sight for the distinguished black-maned Kalahari lions along with other animal species like bat-eared foxes, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, and the likes.

While on South African safaris, never forget to take some images of wildlife with you. Capture them in photos if you can. Animals such as those that thrive in nature pass only once. It would be wise if you can have a token of remembrance from them. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. It may be used only in its entirety with all links included.
You may have found yourself asking, Are there different varieties of pecans?

Yes, there are at least 500 different varieties of pecans that are available for consumption. Each one can be distinguished by name and the size of the nut. They are also grown in different places in the United States, which is the largest producer of this kid of nut. Each one will vary in size and shape, but all of these are nuts, just the same. Some of these species are native, but some are improved species of the native type. Some of these species are cold hardy, and others are not. This is really dependent upon where in the US that they are grown.

What are the different types of pecans?

Here is a short list of different varieties of pecans. There is the Apache, Cheyenne, Cape Fear, Success, Choctaw, Kiowa, Pawnee, Mohawk, Western 54, Colby, Busseron, Major, Indiana, Jackson, Stuart, Desirable, Barton, Comanche, Wichita, Select, Posednik, and Western just to name a few of the many different types that are available. These names described are from different parts of the United States. Some of the southern names are reminiscent of Native American tribes. Overall these names just represent different species available in the United States. There are also species that are grown elsewhere in the world, but for this article, we will be discussing the varieties only grown in the United States.

What is the difference between these pecans?

The main difference in these pecans is that the different varieties vary in what size they produce and what the taste is like. These are the main differences in the species. Now be aware that some of these species are cold hardy and others are temperate. Bear in mind that some of these varieties can be grown in different areas of the same state, or the same region. Some of the names listed above are grown in different areas depending upon soil and climate. This can also produce small changes in nut size and color. Overall these nuts vary only by size and color.

What is the difference in cold hardy pecan species versus temperate species?

The main difference in these species of pecan is simply what the climate is where the trees are planted. Some of these trees are planted in cold temperatures up in the Northeast. The temperate species are planted in climates that are usually warm and dry. This is the main difference between the species, and this makes no assumption about quality as each nut tree develops the same nut, no matter what the species name is or where it is located. Now bear in mind that soil and temperature are the deciding factors in nut productions.

So the pecans are just different by name?

Yes, this is the main idea. The only difference in pecans usually is the size of the nut and the nut's flavor. These trees produce nuts no matter what location or climate that they are in or where they are from.<bio>Tanner's Pecan is proud to offer a variety of holiday gift baskets, peanut butter fudge, chocolate pecan pie, pecans, roasted pecans, and chocolate fudge. Majesties don't do well too near the ocean. There is too much salt in the air.

Royal Palms are moderately fast growing. They will grow twenty feet in ten years with good care. This species needs soil rich in nutrients, water and plenty of sun. They grow a fat trunk base and then grow tall. This species does not do well in temperatures below twenty six degrees Fahrenheit.

Fishtail Palms are a common and fast growing species. They reach thirty feet tall in about seven years. At maturity, they can reach over sixty feet tall. The trunk diameter of this species is about twenty four inches. Fishtails need rich soil and plenty of water.

King Kong or Black Trunk Palms are fast growing trees. They get wide before they get tall. They can reach up to eighty feet tall and grow large, horizontal leaves. This is one of the wider species in terms of trunk diameter.

Growing Palm Trees

Consider the needs of the species before you plant it. The temperature range needed varies by species. Some do better in consistently warm climates. Others do well in slightly cooler areas. A few can survive frost, while others will die. Make sure the species you choose is hardy in the climate where you live.

Ask about the day length of each species. This need varies by species, so ask at the nursery. The tree will need enough to promote growth and prepare for changes with the seasons. Some need a lot of sun, while others do better in partial sun. The heat needs vary according to species as well. Find out the heat and sun tolerances of the species when shopping for trees.

How much water does the species need? Some need a lot more water than others. If you choose a species with a high water requirement, make sure you can meet those needs. If you don't get much rain, you will need to be sure to water it frequently.

The pH range needed varies by species as well. Find out the proper pH for your species to take up water and nutrients. You may be able to add nutrients to balance this range as needed. The nursery will be able to help you with this. <bio>Robert Carlton very often creates informative papers on things dealing with plants and palms.
The word bonsai is usually associated with those dwarf trees that are placed in ceramic or other attractive containers. People usually relate bonsai growing to the Japanese but this method of dwarfing trees actually started in China. The Japanese however developed the art of bonsai growing.

A person who wants to start growing bonsai as a hobby should first have a love for plants and a lot of patience because bonsai-growing is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to choose a suitable tree species to grow and prune regularly before a person can see the product of his efforts. This usually takes a year or more.

A person who has no knowledge of bonsai growing can join workshops and trainings. However, he can learn how to grow bonsai just by observing how bonsais are grown and by researching on the methods of growing bonsai.

Some people believe there are specific tree species that are suitable for bonsai growing. Among the favorites species are maple, elm trees and pine trees. However, junipers, cherry trees with flowers and azaleas can also be very good species for bonsai growing.

There are people who just love plants and who discover bonsai growing on their own. They start by experimenting on plants that are common in the area. However, the plans species that should be chosen should have all the requisites so it will turn out an attractive bonsai later on.

Experts suggest choosing stocks or plant species that have been grown in the nursery as they have already become used to restricted conditions. A plant that has already rooted and which has intricate branches will be a good selection for bonsai- growing.

Other bonsai growers intentionally go to forested areas or the wilds just to collect their species. Just make sure that the gatherer should be prepared with all the necessary equipment for keeping the plant species fresh and healthy. Do not forget to bring along plastic bags and moss to wrap around the plants and to keep them moistened.

A plant that has just been uprooted from its source should be planted firmly on the ground first before it should be transferred on a bonsai container. The plant specie should first be given and opportunity to grow and to hold its roots before it is subjected to transplanting again and pruning for bonsai.

A grower can also collect cuttings from suitable plant sources and then plant them and wait for them to root and become stronger before preparing them for the rigors of bonsai growing.

It takes a lot of creativity and passion to become a bonsai grower. It also takes a lot of common sense to be able to choose the plant species that would prove a suitable plant for bonsai growing. <bio>Owner of http://www.mishobonsai.com , has been practicing bonsai for over 8 years.
Now you have your saltwater aquarium tank all set up. All you need are some finny friends to keep you company. But which fish are the right ones, and how many should you acquire? The answer to the second question is simple math. You can acquire three inches of fish for every ten gallons of water. So the species of fish and factoring in how fast they grow are calculations you should make before you go to the pet store and make acquisitions.

The second factor is time in between acquisitions. You don't want to throw five new fish into your tank because it will destroy the equilibrium of your tank's current bio system. Even in the beginning, you only want to put one or two new fish in your tank at a time, adding new ones at two to three week intervals until you are satisfied.

The third factor is mood. You don't want anti-social or territorial fish in your tank because they will take over that cute little castle at the bottom of your tank and forge swords in it. That is to say, they will kill your other fish! Also important is that fish species grow at different intervals. Large fish usually eat small fish, so if you have species that grow very large and are predatory and others that don't, expect your small ones to become food. Also, just because a fish species is not generally aggressive, keep in mind that some fish are mavericks and are either territorial or aggressive despite normal species tendencies. Make sure you ask your dealer before acquiring a fish what its disposition is or you may be adding an evil fish that will make your nice friendly fish lives a nightmare experience.

Diet is another factor that you should take into consideration. If you are not going to have coral in your saltwater aquarium, then you shouldn't get coral eating fish. There are some species that are naturally hungrier than others, and providing for their special dietary needs may cause a disruption in the balance of food you need to add to the tank, leading to the early demise of other fish in your tank, or to that species if its food is taken by others. This can also lead to fish becoming defensive towards one another, which leads to war!

Set-up Type compatibility is also a key factor in deciding on your fish and other tank livestock. There are some fish suited for fish only tanks, some for fish only with live rock, or reef tank system and you are going to want to ensure that you acquire the right species to survive with your setup, or your fish will either not survive or become defensive, and go to war!

The bottom line here is organization. Working with your local pet dealer and doing your research to understand what fish go together and what fish don't, along with understanding the correct progression for increasing the amount of fish in your saltwater tank will all go a long way towards providing both you and the fish a peaceful habitat for you to enjoy and for the fish to live in. <bio>Salty Supply offers the most premium aquarium supplies on the net.
What are pheromones? That is a question asked by many people. So if you have asked this question and want an answer, you have plenty of company. A considerable amount of research has been accumulated on this subject because scientists also want to know what they are, how they work and why.

To learn just what pheromones are, research has been developed with human pheromones as well as animal pheromones. This is being done to finally get the question answered of, what are pheromones, relating to the human world and the animal world.

What it comes to is that the question "what are pheromones?" is easily answered. To communicate and attract, chemicals called pheromones are produced by the body. Though often used to attract members of the opposite sex, pheromones have other purposes, too, such as informing all kinds of insects what to do and where to go.

Attraction And Insects - Yes, That's Right

The primary question can simply be answered as being a means to discover a mate. When it is time to mate, the body secretes pheromones of the right kind and amount to attract the opposite sex. The female will only attract a male from the same exact same species in this way. It works the same way with males when they want attraction from the females. This happens with all living creatures whether they are insects, animals or even humans. Since all living things have the desire to procreate, pheromones are used to help ensure a mate is attracted for the purpose. Though the idea of humans attracting a mate with pheromones seems a bit silly, it does actually happen. The answer to "what are pheromones?" explains a lot about why people are attracted to one another.

To learn more about pheromones, it is a good idea to research the various amounts of chemicals that different species secrete. You will find that each species has its own chemicals to secrete because it only wants to arouse another from their own species. So the pheromones secreted by cats do not attract humans or dogs. This is the way nature makes sure that each species only mates with its own kind. This ensures the survival of each species because cross breeding is less likely to happen while breeding within the species is virtually assured. It also makes sure that animals have the desire to breed when the timing is right for them to mate. Pheromones are behind the instinct to breed. <bio>Christopher Jay has much more information available at http://www.whatarepheromones.com .
Every species has a daily pattern of sleep and activity. Most humans operate on a cycle of nightly sleep, followed by waking with the daylight, a dip in the energy in the afternoon, alertness in the early evening, then a return to sleep in the late night.

Other animal species have rather different patterns. Some are nocturnal, waking mainly at night and sleeping in the day (many rodents operate on such a cycle). Others naturally spend much more time asleep than we do (cats and dogs, for example), taking a series of quick naps over the day.

Your pet is not being lazy when it seems to spend all its time asleep. It is only following the internal clock it has inherited from its ancestors, who took naps whenever possible if they were in a safe place, conserving energy for the daily hunt for food. Other species originated in hot climates, where they had to sleep the day away in a cool spot, then hunt for prey by evening or night.

It can be normal for some animals to spend as many as 18 hours out of every 24 in a nap and sleep mode, against humans' average of eight hours per day. Very young and very old animals also need much more sleep than healthy adults of their own species.

A wealth of information about the normal sleep behavior of your particular species of pet is available from the internet, books and veterinarians. Learn what kind of sleep your pet requires, so you will know when to leave it alone, when to play with it, and when it seems to be sleeping much more or less than usual, which may indicate health problems. So remember, do not be too quick to judge your pet the next time you catch it yawning...It could be that your pet is moving into its natural sleeping cycle - inherited from their ancestors. <bio>Tangopang loves animal.
If you have ever wondered "what are <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/pheromones" rel="tag">pheromones" you are probably not alone. In fact, there have been many people who have wondered what pheromones are, and a lot of research has been done on the topic.

In the quest to find out what pheromones are, people have done research in the human world as well as the animal kingdom. This is because pheromones occur and do their work in both animal kingdom and human world.

Basically, when it comes down to it, "What are pheromones?" is answered very easily. Pheromones are the chemicals that your body produces to attract other people. These are usually used to attract a mate, but pheromones have also been found to have an effect in social and business circles.

The main question of what pheromones are is answered by the idea that a pheromone is used to attract one sex to another. A pheromone is a substance that is secreted by the body primarily for the purpose of mating. The female attracts the male of the same species by putting out just the right pheromones to bring him to her.

The same thing happens with males, in order to attract females. This can happen in any kind of living creature -- people, animals and insects -- because all living things need a mate in order to reproduce. The way to attract a mate is to put out pheromones.

In the human world, the idea of our bodies chemically attracting another body might seem silly, but it actually isn't. A lot of the attraction that we have for others comes from pheromones.

It is important to understand that the pheromones of one species consist of different chemicals than the pheromones of another species. Each species only wants to attract its own kind. Therefore, humans aren't secreting pheromones that attract cats, and so on. It would have been too confusing and way too funny had this been not the case.

This is nature's way of making sure that the right kind of animal mates with another of its own species and that the line of that animal can continue to reproduce. It also is a way of making sure that nothing has to force certain animals to breed; they simply will when the time is right. <bio>Tisha Diaz recommends scented and unscented pheromones for men and women. http://www.pheromonespro.com/ </bio>

The whole park is within the Great Rift valley, and is the idea destination for a luxury african safari. Most of the wildlife is to be found in the swampy western border of the Masai Mara, and because this area is the furthest away from Nairobi, it is the open grasslands of the east that sees the greatest concentration of in Kenya safari tourists.

The Masai Mara is well known for lions, but all the othe members of the 'big five' are to be found here. The dominant inhabitant however is the wildebeest, and in July they migrate north to the Masai from Serengeti, and then go back outh again in October.

No Maai Mara Kenya Safari is complete without seeing this amazing migration of over a million wildebeest, and hundreds of thousands of Thmson's Gazelle and Zebra.
When you are deciding which fish to place in an aquarium, you may not realise it but you cannot always place two different types of fish together. Some species need to be kept separately and some need specific requirements that might conflict with another fish species. There are many things that you need to consider and here you will find out more about the types of fish that you shouldn't place together.

The Different Types of Fish

The most obvious difference that you need to familiarise yourself with is which fish are cold water fish and which are tropical fish. You cannot keep the two types of fish together as they need entirely different temperatures and environments. Goldfish, sturgeons and Koi are all coldwater fish. There are many different types of goldfish to choose from and they all need to be kept in cold water.

Tropical fish are the most popular types of fish available but they do require a lot more care. They need specific heating and lighting requirements. There are literally hundreds of different types of tropical fish to choose from and they are the ones that you will have a problem knowing which will fight and which will get along!

Tropical Fish that you Should Not Place Together

The main species of fish that you need to be aware of is Betta fish. It is ok to have around five-six females in an aquarium but if you have more than one male then it will cause problems as they do tend to fight and be quite aggressive towards other fish! Also you should not keep Betta males and females together either as this can cause a large number of problems. You can only keep a male and female Betta fish together if it is just one single breeding pair.

Barb fish should be kept in species only tanks. So if you want more than one type of fish in your aquarium then you should not include any type of barb fish. It is fine to keep barb fish together, just not with any other species.

Generally the above are the main types of fish that cannot live together. However you will have to do as much research as possible on the types of fish that you are interested in to see if you can place them together. It would be a good idea to ask a member of staff at the place where you will be purchasing your fish from. They will be able to give you a better idea of which fish to choose depending upon the tank that you opt for and your own specific requirements.

Overall choosing the right fish is important if you would like to have a happy, healthy aquarium. It is not always easy knowing which two species of fish will not fight if placed together and so it is always a good idea to get expert advice. After all, you do not want to purchase a tank full of fish only to have them all die from fighting less than a week after you have brought them home!<bio>Derek Rogers is a freelance writer who represents a number of UK businesses.
Ernest Race the textile and furniture designer was recognized as one amongst the most creative and challenging personality of mid-century design. His furniture designs included for dining, lounge and furniture for case, which was completely, constructed using metals and other improvised materials. His famous works included B.A 3 chair, Antelope chair, Heron chair, Purple chair and so on. His designs were contemporary and liked by all and were in constant production.

The metal furniture designed by Race was enthusiastically bought by the private firms as well as the contractors of the market. He has his best orders for chairs and tables of 1500 in number for troop-ships. Gradually his orders increased day by day, mostly placed by the private sector. Later Race opened his own showroom which was stylish, decorated with plain walls on which coconut mats were hung. Race with his outstanding abilities, demonstrated the essentials of assessing the market needs against the restriction of materials.

The famous B.A3 chairs were preferred for the interiors of a ship. These were constructed out of five interchangeable materials which consisted of sand cast and polished aluminium. He used ingenious paneling which is provided with highly polished laminated plastic and with scratch resistant wooden finish. He covered the honeycomb shaped edges of the table, using aluminium in the form of ribbon. This B.A 3 stood on four raised tapering legs which seem to appear light and contrasting.

The Great Britain festival gained more fame for the works of Race. His works like the Springbok, the Antelope chair were on the display in the exhibition. The Antelope chairs had high aesthetical appearance.

Race continued to design the furniture using steel rod which had an appreciable demand in market. He developed the rocking chair in the year 1948, after being inspired from a 1850s Winfield rocking chair made of metal. A special feature of the rocking chair was pretty interesting; it had a seat with a back made of undulating steel wire.

In the year 1955, Race introduced the Heron armchair, which was a very creative internal work, constructed with welded steel rod. He replaced the use of wooden frames with the steel rod and also latex foam which was of light weight. This furniture provided at most comfort.

Race Rockers, was a metal rocking chair designed by Race in the year 1948. The chair is a linen union, and was manufactured in three colours. The race rocker was recently auctioned for a sum of £464.12.

Isokon Penguin Donkey 2 was one of the best utility furniture. It was basically a desk like thing, an ideal place for books, CDs, magazines, newspapers, remote control and so on. This furniture was the second design in the Penguin Donkey series of furniture.

The Neptune chair, renowned furniture was designed by Race in the year 1953. This was made of Beachwood and webbing. This had a large scale sales world wide.

Race's contribution to the world of furniture design was a significant one, which led to the evolution of modern furniture designing.<bio>Find international design at furniture design.
As the rain forests are slowly cut down and urbanization takes effect all over the world some animal species are beginning to die off. As the last animal dies off the species becomes extinct and won't ever be able to walk this earth again. Humans need to learn how to protect these animals so that they can thrive on this world too.

Our first step in protecting endangered species needs to be to understand their habitats and how they survive best in the wild. You can always try to put these animals in zoos but it isn't where they will do best.

After we have figured out how they like to live then comes the next step, setting aside land for them. A lot of these creatures live in areas that will be able to sustain life to them and other animals that live there. The objective is to set aside land that is already covered by this mini ecosystem for the animals.

Our next objective is to set aside laws that prohibit people from hunting these animals or disturbing their homes. Enforcement of these laws should include jail time and fines so that people will think twice about hurting this habitat.

After this is done the animals should be transferred to this environment. Once transferred the animals need to be closely monitored to make sure that they are able to live in their new homes. If anything needs fixing the best time to do it is early while they are still adjusting to the move.

Taking these steps will help ensure that we keep animals from becoming endangered or extinct. However, the real battle is making the general public aware of how important it is to keep the animals alive. The best battles are fought one step at a time, help take a step for humanity today. <bio>Learn more about the Endangered Species crisis at http://endangeredspecies1.blogspot.com/ </bio>

A Kenyan Safari to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve should be on your list of options when planning a safari if only because of its height, being the second highest mountain in Africa. Mount Kenya is 17,058 feet high and the National Park and Reserve has 1300 square kilometres of forest reserve with 715 square kilometres above the 10,500 ft tree line, where the entire mountain is National Park

This height means that what you are going to see a huge variety of spectacular scenery which makes the Park very special. There are lakes, tarns, glaciers, peaks, natural mineral springs, and the vegetation changes quite dramatically with the height from sea level. Add to this high altitude adapted plains game, and unique alpine vegetation with eleven species of endemic plants. The surroundings in the Mount Kenya Safari Park are truly breathtaking

You will find dry upland forest in the lower slopes, then after about 7000 ft this changes to montane forest of cedar and podo which then changes to thick bamboo at a little over 8000 ft, and then these die out as you climb higher, and you find smaller trees and high altitude mosses. After 10000ft you come onto high altitude heath and shrubs , and then finally above 11000 feet there is open moorland.

A Kenya safari is mostly about wildlife, and Mount Kenya national park has its fair share, again changing with altitude, and the season of the year. During the rains it is the dispersal area for Meru National Park especially elephant and buffalo. In fact electrified fencing has been put up near populated areas to keep the elephants off farmland.

The wildlife in the forest below the Park Boundary includes the aforementioned elephant and buffalo. To which can be added lion, several different species of antelope including the very rare bongo. If you are incredibly lucky you might see up to eleven species unique to this area above 2500 metres. There are the black leopard, black and white Colobus and Sykes monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, elephant. Then lower down Olive baboon, waterbuck, black rhino, black fronted duikers, leopard, giant forest hog, genet cat, bushpig and hyena.. The very privileged few might even see albino zebra. Above the treeline you'll find high altitude zebra and eland.

The accommodation in the Mount Kenya National Park consists of one lodge, seven climber huts, and three self help banda sites , and three lodges and a self help banda site just outside the park.

To summarise the attractions of the Mount Kenya National Park and reserve.

There is excellent game viewing, fantastic scenery, with the lakes, tarns, glaciers, and high peaks. A number of rare birds and animals, and the high altitude plains game and the mountain forest. Added to this the natural mineral springs, and for a few intrepid souls mountain climbing itself, but this is not for the hill walker but more the skilled mountaineer.

If you are planning a memorable Kenyan Safari then a trip to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve promises to be a wonderful experience.

For more information on In Kenya safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

By the name itself, fly fishing is one of the many ways of catching a fish; specifically trout, salmon and other types of marine species such as tarpon, bonefish, striped bass and among others; with the use of just a hook attached to a line by a fishing rod. Fly fishing is gaining fame among fishing buffs and there are ongoing interests of catching as many different types of fish as possible.

The method originated from an ancient fishing form called angling; the very reason why it's called angling is because of the hook hanging at the end of the line of a fishing rod. Fly fishing has innovations of its own and the noticeable tool for this method is the use of artificial flies or the fly lures. Usually, artificial flies are tied with thread, feathers or fur but there are other options too which include ribbon, tinsel or beads and for extra weight, lead is used.

The reason why the artificial flies are "accessorized" is because specified species needs to be attracted. By using the right combination of the fly; which includes the size, weight and color, to the line, rod and reel, the chances of catching a desired species is high.

Color and size of the fly is mentioned because it adds to the fly's camouflage effect, which is meant to imitate local insects, a main course for the fish (but this is done specifically to catch attention of aggressive, spawning species).

The size of the fly ranges from the largest (#2 ) to the smallest (very small at #22). The line to which the fly is hooked also plays an important relationship with the fly because primarily, it's what casts the fly. It really depends on the purpose of the angler. There are heavy lines for sinking purposes and light ones as well to keep the fly afloat. In fact, a fly line can plainly be cast without a fly which makes it different from the basic fishing rod and reel method.

The significance of the fly is high in fly fishing since its main purpose is to act as a "food" for the species. <bio>Get more information for free about fly fishing at http://fly-fishing-tips.com. </bio>

If you love animals, then you might want to think about starting a job working with animals. However many people just think of veterinarians when they think about working with animals. Veterinarians are not the only way that you can get a job working with animals. Many other different kinds of jobs are out there to work with animals. Some of the other job categories working with animals are care and conservation of wildlife, zoos, and animal training.

Care and conservation of wildlife is a very important job category, and is a rewarding job if you like to work with animals in their natural habitat. Some of the different jobs that appear in this category are park ranger, game warden, and a wildlife rehabilitator. These jobs are very important to the animals in the wild, because they ensure that these animals will continue to have the habitat that they need to survive. These jobs also help to stop the needless poaching of wild animals, which has lead to some species landing on the endangered species list.

Zoos are another very important job category that allows you to work with animals. Zoos are very important because they allow people to enjoy them in a habitat that is very similar to their natural habitat. Zoos are also great places to help endangered species live and grow in a controlled environment. Many species of animals have been removed from the endangered species list due to the diligent work of zoo employees. Some of the jobs that appear in this job category are zoo keeper, zoo director, and zoo supervisor.

Animal training is one of the most demanding and rewarding job categories that allow you to work with animals. This category is also very exciting because many of the animals that are trained by animal trainers can kill them at any time if the trainer is not careful. However with much hard work and perseverance these animals can be trained to work in shows, on television, or maybe even win the Kentucky Derby. Some of the jobs that appear in this category are large animal trainer, obedience trainer, and horse trainer. <bio>For farm workers jobs and jobs working with animals, visit http://www.land-force.com/ </bio>

Most experts expected the bald eagle to become extinct during the 20th century, but this American symbol has since reversed its decline and begun to recover. Experts realized in 1940 that the species had become endangered, and a law was passed to offer it protection from hunters- the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Even after the hunting stopped, there was still a decline in numbers due to the rampant use of DDT. The bald eagle was included on the endangered species list in 1973, and the species hit a low point in 1963 with only 417 breeding pairs.

Instead of the expected extinction of the species, the bald eagle has executed a miraculous rise in the number of breeding pairs. The more than 9,000 breeding pairs that exist today have made experts drop the species from the list of endangered species. Wildlife experts, however, will not be abandoning the bald eagle. For another five years, or more, the bald eagle will continue to be tracked and watched for any decline. The monitoring will enable the research community to be aware of any changes in numbers, and for inclusion into the endangered species list if necessary.

Even without being reclassified as endangered, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act is still there to keep the animal from being hunted. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 has offers still more protection to the bald eagle. The act was passed to protect migratory birds, such as the bald eagle, in other countries that share birds with the U.S. due to migration. For eagles that make their way into Canada or Mexico, the treaty is in effect in those countries to stop the trade of eagle feathers, eggs and other parts that could make the hunting of eagles lucrative.

The 1972 ban on the use of DDT has also done much to protect bald eagles. DDT traveled up the food chain to the bald eagle, and other animals, causing a steep decline in the number of breeding pairs. DDT caused a serious decline in bald eagle numbers, becoming a major contributor to the species' near extinction. This chemical eventually made its way from the waterways and into the eagles. Eagles then caught the contaminated fish living in these waters. The affected eagles were unable to produce eggshells that were hard enough to keep from cracking before the incubation period was over. DDT devastated the bald eagle population, as mother eagles were unable to incubate the thin eggs, often cracking them in the nest. Today the threat of DDT is largely over and bald eagles can catch fish, roam the skies and keep increasing their numbers. <bio>Ryan J Orlancia writes for many internet sites including http://www.OodlesOnBaldEagles.com. </bio>
