Many guitarists don't have enough time to practice for long periods of time. But if you want to progress fast, you need the guitar in your hands as regularly as possible.

It's better to practice for 10-20 minutes every day, than 4 hours on just one day of the week.Getting into a rhythm of regularly picking up your guitar for a quick practice session is a great habit to get into.

So if you don't have enough time for a full practice session, and you have 10-15 minutes to spare, here's some ideas for what you should practice:

Practice a chord change. Perhaps switching from an F barre chord to a D open is causing you difficulty? If you spend just ten minutes going over and over the change, you will increase your ability to do it at the level you require.

The key is to focus, and hone in on one skill that you can improve in a short period of time.

Work on a song you want to memorize. This will give you a chance to actually play some music! You need to have fun in your practice to keep you fresh and focused.

Listen to a song on a CD and jam along. This is a great way to improve your playing, and it's particularly suitable for short practice sessions.

An important part of learning guitar is to train your ear, and jamming along to a CD is the perfect way to do it.

Work on a lick you want to learn. You'd be surprised how many times you can work through a lick in just a few short minutes. You can also combine this practice technique with practicing chord changes.

This will improve your skills in a short period of time.

Work on picking skills - do drills up and down the neck. You can use your metronome to work on speed picking skills, or you can slow everything right down and work on keeping your body in a relaxed so that you develop an ease to your playing.

Work up and down a scale. In ten minutes you can play through a scale around 50-100 times. This will improve your stamina and also help you build speed.

Remember to use a metronome when you're trying to build speed though. Because you want a smooth rhythmic sound to your speed picking, not a struggling, hurried sound.

So build up gradually.

Be Creative! Play some chords in combinations that sound good to you, or play some single note melodies. Again, this improves your ear and you could maybe work out some parts to a song of your own.

Okay, that's all the ideas I'm going to give you for now. Use your imagination to come up with more things you could try, and mix it up so it doesn't get boring.

Also, keep your guitar ready and set-up. Sure, it's protected all hidden away in your case, but if it's ready for you to have a short practice session, then you're more likely to pick it up and practice, even if it is just for a short time.

So keep that guitar out and ready to practice!

You may not think these short practice sessions help much, but doing this builds up your skills fast -- and you'll surprise yourself by how much you improve just be having the guitar in your hands regularly.

However, you don't want to solely rely on these quick practice sessions. Like most things, you need to strike a balance. A good way of finding that balance is to set a routine.

When you have a routine, you will find it gets easier to find the time for practice. Once you're in a habit of practicing regularly, you'll find it harder to break out of, and that's a good habit to have! <bio>Find more free guitar lessons at: http://www.guitar-secrets.net </bio>

Are you planning a big night singing karaoke songs at your local karaoke bar? Maybe you would like to enter the karaoke contest? Or perhaps you already tried some karaoke, and decided your show would be more spectacular if you could improve your singing a bit?

Good news! Anyone can learn to sing karaoke songs like a pro! All it takes is patience, practice, and a few basic singing tips to bring out the karaoke star in you.

First of all, you need to practice, practice, and practice some more. Remember the old adage: "Practice makes perfect!" Sing everywhere. Sing all kinds of songs. Nothing beats singing in the shower! You get that nice echo, and all that moisture in the air really hydrates your vocal chords for a great sound. Turn on the radio and sing along every time you drive anywhere. Need to clean the house or the garage? Sing your karaoke songs while you clean. Sing while you mow the lawn or cook dinner. You will be surprised at all the practice you can get while doing other things. The more you practice, the more your singing will improve.

Once of the very best things you can do to improve your karaoke songs is to get a home karaoke machine, and practice doing the real thing. You can work out your entire show to perfection.

Your karaoke songs will also benefit from some professional tips. Basically, you need to create space in your body that lets the songs just flow out effortlessly to the world. What? How do you do that? There are 3 main techniques. Using these techniques will make your voice sound stronger without straining your vocal chords; they will allow you a wider range of notes; and you won't run out of breath so quickly. They are:

1. Breathe with your diaphragm. Fill up your lungs as much as you possibly can. Feel the space under your ribs filling up with extra air? This is your diaphragm, and you need to expand this to bring in enough air to sing properly. Practice freeing your voice with this air. Breathe in to a count of four. Hold it for four counts. Let it out for eight counts. Warm up like this. Then sing, letting your diaphragm control bringing in the air and letting it out.

2. Let your soft palate, the fleshy part on top of your mouth right in front of your throat, rise to open up the throat. You can feel it if you try to stifle a yawn. This creates more space for the sound to flow out full and melodiously. Think of yawning, then practice singing with your throat more open.

3. This one is much easier. Keep your mouth open when you sing.

If you feel you need personal coaching, take some voice lessons, or join a choir.

Another way to make your karaoke songs sound better is to record yourself singing. You can hear for yourself what you really sound like. Then decide which areas you would like to improve. Also, you can hear your singing by pressing a finger against one ear and closing it up while you sing.

Two of the most important ways you can improve your karaoke songs are to choose songs which go well with your own voice, and choose songs which you are passionate about. When a song is close to your heart, your passion comes through in your singing. You can make the song yours. Karaoke songs are not just about how well you can sing, or how perfectly you can hit the notes. You can bring the house down, and be the best show of the night by making a song totally yours. The audience will feel your emotions and your passion, and experience it the way you do.

Learn every word of the karaoke songs you have chosen to perform. Be familiar with every nuance of the song. Practice some movements for the instrumental breaks when you are not singing. In other words, practice your show, not just the singing of the song. Because your show IS the karaoke song. Your show is what people will remember.<bio>Christine Durham is the founder of The SongStation Studios. - http://www.TheSongStation.comImagine having 53,000 karaoke songs inbuilt into one machine...The SongStation is the #1 home karaoke machine with 53,000 karaoke tracks. It is not just a karaoke player.
In this world with all kinds of styles of music and bands, finding someone to teach you what you really dream of playing is kind of tough. The problem is finding a teacher who'll give you a good guitar lesson that doesn't include all the stuff that really doesn't matter when it comes down to just playing a song.

You can practice for many hours to replicate your favorite guitar player playing style, but when you have the proper instruction you have the path to get to the point of playing fluently you will be able to copy the style and get it down.

Some play fast and narrow and others play wide and slow, this is how you learn how to use different vibrato techniques, practice and more practice. Once you've achieved a basic understanding of the correct notes and sounds you are ready to start learning how to tune by ear. The traditional way of learning guitar is by taking private lessons from a guitar teacher. The number of choices is overwhelming, ranging from distance instruction learning or online lessons. Today there are many options to learn how to play instruments whether you like rock, jazz, rock or classical music, these are just a few of the many types of music.

The key to mastering the guitar successfully is in making the chord changes which will help in playing the instrument. They are the C major chord, G major chord, and the D major chord. You should spend hours practicing chords and scales forms and all the while making sure that each note sounds perfect.

But you will find that if you use these simple scale forms in conjunction with an appropriate chord progression this will sound good more often. A chord progression based on the A minor chord will sound good with A minor pentatonic and a C major chord will sound good with C major scale.

When learning how to play the guitar, often many people form and create bad habits which does not help with the playing of the guitar, they need to work twice as hard to switch to good habits and get back on track.. These bad habits are easy to overcome once the person realizes that he has them and becomes familiar with the proper way to play the guitar.

You know the saying, practice makes perfect. But it is something you should try to incorporate into your practice as regularly as possible if you want to see a real improvement in the solos and melodies you make on guitar. <bio>David Marc Fishman is the owner of http://www.tispquad.com Ask an expert how to do things via video. </bio>

If you've been to a small rehearsal studio or a friend's rehearsal basement, you've probably noticed a portion of the room (most probably the ceiling) is covered with egg cartons. Unsure whether or not you've entered a practice space or a shady egg-packing operation, you ask the owner what that's all about, wherein he says that the egg cartons serve as soundproofing by absorbing the sound because of its unique shape. Somehow, you find yourself having a hard time believing him as you walk out of the studio after practice with a really bad case of tinnitus.

Egg cartons for soundproofing is perhaps one of the most popular myths about acoustics. Whether or not this belief was founded by experts or DIY enthusiasts let me break this myth by telling you that egg cartons do absolutely nothing for soundproofing. This should be obvious to you when you have a friend scream directly at your ear with only an egg tray in between the two of you.

In the realm of acoustics, there are different frequencies of sound that interact in a variety of ways with the environment around them. High frequency sound waves, like the sound of a high pitched shriek or your irritating Epson LX-300 dot matrix printer, are easily absorbed by layers of porous material such as cloth, fiberglass and carpets.

Low frequency sound, such as those heard at hip-hop/dance clubs, bass guitars and kick drums aren't easily as absorbed (an explanation why you hear only the bass when you're in the vicinity of a club or a car with subwoofers passes by with their windows up).

These types of frequencies can be absorbed by structures that have a higher density and mass, such as concrete walls and increasingly thick layers of fiberglass. While an egg carton may absorb some high frequencies, it won't stop any low frequencies from passing through it, and is therefore a poor choice for sound proofing. Egg cartons can be used for sound treatment, though, as a poor-man's diffuser.

By its very definition, sound proofing is the inhibition of sound from escaping a given space in which it is allowed to propagate. If even the slightest measure of sound is heard out of a "sound proofed" area, that area is no longer considered sound proof.

Sound treatment, on the other hand, is the manipulation of a room's response to frequencies to create a sonically balanced and favorable listening/performance area. Sound treatment can be achieved through absorption, reflection and diffusion (egg cartons may fall into this category).

If you're helping someone setup a rehearsal studio or are making one at your own home, skip the egg carton myth and look for more effective means of treating your space. Creating a sound proof room may be beyond most budgetary capability of hobbyists (it's essentially creating a room within a room), but acoustic sound treatment can be had at a reasonable cost.

You have the option to buy ready made absorbers and diffusers online or at acoustic expert shops, or you can simply make your own by following the many plans available on the internet: all it takes is a printer, some handyman work and a trip to the nearest Home Depot.<bio>Emics is a leading laboratory providing calibration and Inspection services</bio>

If you're like most people who take piano lessons, you do! ?Whether you're young or old or somewhere in between, you aspire to make beautiful music and... right away!

?You've probably heard the old joke: ? "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" asks the inquisitive tourist. ?"Practice, practice, practice!" replies the wise old responder.? ?But wouldn't you much prefer to learn the secret to sounding good just for your own satisfaction and enjoyment? ??That's probably why you take piano lessons=85 However, most piano students forget to pay attention to the very areas that would enable them to sound great!

?Do you do one or more of the following?

1. Ignore the timing by not counting or tapping your foot.

2. Play everything at the same volume.

3. Disregard the key signature and just start playing the piece.

4. Use too much pedal.

5. "Type" or bang the keys and disconnect one note from another.

6. Allow the accompaniment (usually the left hand part) to overpower or drown out the melody.

7. Listen to talk radio instead of spending some of your time listening to music.

If you recognized any of the above habits as things you do, congratulations! ?Now you know why you aren't sounding like a pro yet.

(Parents: Have you noticed these traits in your children who take lessons?)

Obviously, you want to sound good! (And you parents want your kids to sound good, don't you?) ??So instead of treating piano practice like a chore, here are seven ways to start you on the way to Carnegie Hall:

1. Pay attention to the timing: count or tap your foot.

2. Notice the dynamics (indications for differences in volume) and follow them.

3. Look at the key signature before you start to play and mark all of the sharps or flats if you need to.

4. Use the pedal with care. (Pedal changes are often marked in classical pieces, and should be made in songs with each chord change.)

5. Employ correct fingering as you work towards playing smoothly and connected (unless the music asks for staccato: detached playing).

6. Listen for the melody. Can you always hear it while you are playing?

7. Focus on spending some time listening to music every week. (With wonderful tools like iPods, MP3 players and the internet, it's easy to find recorded versions of the pieces that you play as well as music that motivates and inspires you.) Give these suggestions a try. ?Start today. ?You'll be surprised at how much better you sound!

Copyright =A9 2007 by Ed Mascari http://www.edmascaripianostudio.com <bio>Ed Mascari has been teaching piano privately to children and adults for nearly three decades.
There are many times in life where you are going to want to make more money. Think about what you are doing now, and think about ways that you could make that just a little bit better for yourself. For instance, if you are able to, you might be just the right kind of person to find a great deal for a job that allows you to make lots of money, and that allows you to be the boss, as well. Many times they'll be a make money business opportunity that comes out of nowhere, and if you are to take it and if you can do well, you might just find that you are able to make more money than you have ever dreamed of making.

This might sound too good to be true, and in many ways you have to be careful. But if you are able to, you are going to find that in reality there are many make money business opportunity sites you could go to, and at some of these sites, you'll actually be able to make the money that you want to make, without having to worry about a thing.

Of course, there are some sites at which you are going to have to be careful. For instance, when you go to a make money business opportunity site, it might be tempting to go with the first offer that you see. It might sound like something that you could really sink your teeth in to, an offer that would just be too good to pass up. A make money business opportunity that you would feel bad about not taking. However, you have to do your part and do your research because make money business opportunities are going to not be as common as you might think. You have to really search to find the ones that are worth doing, and to keep those separate from the ones that are going to rip you off.

In order to find make money business opportunities that you know are going to be worth your while, there are several things that you should do, first. You need to make sure that you can get information on the business and what is going on. It needs to sound viable to you =96 which means that it has to sound like it makes sense. If the idea tells you you don't have to spend any time or spend any money on the business, that you will simply start to get checks in the mail, this is probably going to be a scam.

</bio>

Music is an important tool to calm the mind. Its healing effects have to been to humans for hundreds of years. People practice music for different purposes. While some pursue it as a mere hobby or a means to pass their free time, others are more serious and practice it in a professional manner. Music does not have any kind of barriers. It can be leaded by people of all regions or ages. The only important thing here is that the person must show curiosity to learn all the nuances of music.

After the decision to learn music has been made, next comes the task of selecting the right musical instrument. If we think as far as a decade ago, the number of musical instruments available was less. But this is not the case today. The range of musical instruments available has been increasing day after day. Before setting off to buy musical instruments there are some basic factors which you need to consider.

a) Firstly, you must observe the type of sound that each instrument gives out. The main point here is that the type of sound given by the instrument should be satisfying to you when you hear it. Instruments producing cacophonic sounds should not be selected. There are a number of ways to go about this task. There are a number of websites on the internet which have sound clips of sounds produced by different musical instruments. Some CDs of music composed by many great performers playing different instruments can also be found in the local CD stores.

b) Trying out each instrument -- some music store owners are very harsh and don't let you touch the music instrument unless and until you buy it. However, there are some other music stores which let you the instruments to observe the sound they produce. Pick the instrument which produces the sound that pleases your soul.

c) The sound produced by the instrument should also match with the personality of the individual. Shy and silent persons should do well with instruments producing soft sounds and the same type of reasoning holds well with tough persons.

d) You will also need to consider the money that you will have to spend on purchase and subsequent maintenance of the musical instrument.

e) Instruments should also be selected depending on the surrounding in which they will be played so as to prevent inconvenience to the people around you. <bio>Linda Polansky writes about http://www.guitarsampsetc.com, http://www.guitarsampsetc.com/Coupons/Guitar%20Trader.html and http://www.guitarsampsetc.com/Categories/Recording.html </bio>

There are few people in the world that can pick up a skill immediately and become a master without taking the time to practice. We generally consider these people to be geniuses or prodigies. For the rest of us, mastering a new skill takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. It also takes a lot of dedication because sometimes the time lag between starting and becoming proficient can seem entirely too long.

When it comes to learning how to play a musical instrument, practice is unbelievably vital. There is very little chance that the first time you pick up a cello or sit at a piano that you will be able to make a sound that even resembles music. But with a little time and effort, and the right instruction, you soon find that your practicing has paid off. This is true whether you play a classical instrument or want to learn guitar.

There is an old adage in the music community that you play the way that you practice. Essentially, this truism means that if you are lazy and sloppy when you practice then you will look lazy and sloppy when you perform. Regardless of what instrument you are trying to master, you need to practice effectively and actively. That is why practicing while you try to learn guitar is vital to your progress.

Of course there is much more to successful practicing than just sitting with your instrument and playing. In order to practice effectively you must sit down with a plan and have a structure to your session. Practicing should be goal oriented and lesson specific. Without a solid practice structure you will not be able to efficiently make progress. In fact, the benefits of practicing have nothing to do with the quantity of time and everything to do with the quality of planning.

Another key component to effective practicing is having the desire to play. If you are dreading your practice time, then it would be a good idea to re-evaluate your strategy. You will likely find that the program from which you are learning is not capturing your attention well enough, or that your practice strategy is lacking the excitement you need. Instead of allowing your motivation to lag, you should reevaluate and try to learn guitar through a new and more dynamic program.

If you are looking for more information on how to practice smarter rather than harder then check out the book The Art of Practicing. This instructional manual provides in-depth information and a step by step guide to the ultimate practice strategy. There is simply no better way to learn guitar. This learning system, as well as a selection of great essential tools, are available at http://www.guitarcoaching.com. <bio>http://www.guitarcoaching.com located in Queensland, Australia, Hayes is passionate about his work and dedicated to helping students learn guitar. </bio>

There are many different Christian sex beliefs which people will claim to be right and wrong. The problem is, there are some who believe one particular practice is wrong, while another group will find the practice perfectly acceptable. So how do you discern who is right and who is wrong? Here's how to get to the bottom of Christian sex beliefs, and what is right and wrong for Christian intimacy.

1. Listen to the different views.

Don't automatically accept one view that may say that a particular position is absolutely sinful and should not be practiced. Many Christians have done this, only to find years later that there are other views that point directly to scripture, showing that the position is an actual sound practice within Christian intimacy.

Research the different points of view on Christian intimacy. Then and only then, as a couple, make a sound decision on what you feel should be allowed in your relationship. Below you will find an excellent starting point when it comes to the rules.

But for now just remember, if you have already heard one point of view that sounds extremely limiting, rest assured there will be other opinions which will argue for a much more non limiting intimacy practice. In the end it will be between the two of you to make a sound decision. This decision should be arrived at by not only discussing it with one another, but also praying on the subject with one another.

2. The two main rules:

There are two main rules that you and your partner can agree on right away and begin to adhere to. These two rules have to do with: Safety and enjoyment.

Your intimacy practice should be safe. That's a fairly straight forward, common sense rule that any Christian can agree with and adhere to. Any practice that places obvious harm, should not be allowed. Below you will learn how to find out what practices are safe and allowed. You likely will be pleasantly surprised at what practices are safe and acceptable within Christian intimacy.

Next, enjoyment should be paramount. You should focus your sex life on the enjoyable nature in which it is meant to be. Focus on techniques and practices that will make for a joyous, exciting and intimately pleasing experience.

3. The Christian sex manual:

Getting a Christian sex manual is a must. A good manual will outline what is said to be allowable and what is not, as well as provide amazing and exciting tips and techniques for Christian sex. You can gain a wealth of knowledge just overnight by reading up on acceptable ways to greatly increase your intimate Christian experience.

You will also learn tips, techniques and even intimacy tricks to become more pleasurable and pleasing during intimacy. And of course everything is considered Christian safe. There are even Christian sex toys which are allowable. Christian intimacy manuals will describe the best and most safe forms of intimacy toys which can add excitement, pleasure and variety to your relationship.<bio>Here's an excellent Christian Sex Manual which outlines rules as well as intimate tips and techniques - Christian Sex Manual This was written by an average Christian who made it his life's work to bring Christian couples closer to one another -Christian Sex Manual</bio>

Being asked to be your friends best man is a pretty big job. I mean sure you get to plan the bachelor party, stand with him as he says his vows, and walk down the isle with a bridesmaid, it's really after the wedding that the pressure starts to build. During the reception when you give your best man's speech is your chance to shine, touch your best friends heart and be remembered from the wedding for all the right reasons.

There are some things you can focus on to help your best man speech be a success.

Plan your speech in advance, don't think you can just stand up at the front of the reception and have the words ready to roll off your tongue. Trust me, I'm one of those people that is never short for something to say but when I found myself standing in front of all those people I didn't have the touching heart felt speech ready to roll that I thought I would. Lesson learned I guess, so take the time to review some sample speeches before the big day and at a minimum write out some points you want to touch on.

Practice, Practice, Practice. I know normally you practice for a sport or musical instrument but practicing your speech in front of a mirror so you know when to show more emotion is important. No one enjoys a speech that is read off of a piece of paper, practicing will give you the edge you need to be able to give a flawless speech.

Now this might go without saying but weddings tend to have a variety of family, friends, and children there so take care when planning jokes to use in your speech, and particular one liners. Anything offensive can really ruin everything else wonderful you'll say about your best friends most important day.

So remember, plan, practice, and execute. Might sound like a business plan but it will yield the best result for your best man speech. Taking the time to write out what you want to say ahead of time, make it feel natural by practicing and saying it with confidence will have you remembered for the right reasons after the wedding. <bio>For best man speech examples take a moment to visit our best man speech website. http://helpplanningyourwedding.com/Weddings/Wedding_Speeches/Best_man_speech_examples/ </bio>

It's a good idea to practice your oral board answers, but what tools can you use to do that--and what tools give you an edge?

A video camera is a great tool. You need to see how you look to other people. What better way is there to get a good look at yourself? How about standing in front of a mirror? Both of these tools help you check out how you appear to others, but both miss the most important aspect of your oral board answers: what you say and how you sound when you say it.

Only one tool can give you what you need when you practice: a hand-held tape recorder.

Think about it. The Oral board, you talking, and the officers on the board listening. That spotless police badge you want to wear hinges on you picking up a tape recorder and hearing what's going to come out of your mouth in that unbelievably important situation!

I was contacted by a coaching candidate recently. He had made it to some oral boards and one Chief's Oral, but had not been successful. Now, an invitation to the LAPD oral board had been offered, so he wanted to set up a private coaching session.

After a few moments of talking with him, I was aware of something critical that was probably missing in his previous preparations. I asked him if he used a tape recorder to practice. He hemmed and hawed and finally, like 99% of the candidates I interview, said, "Well, no. But, I'm thinking about it."

I told him to use a tape recorder to hear how he sounded. After trying this, he got the message: his answers were garbage.

Applicants want a badge so bad they will do nearly anything ethically and morally to get it; except to use the most effective preparation tool around.

For some reason, they don't get how valuable using a tape recorder is for practicing your answers. You can get your timing, inflection, and volume down pat; see where to cut material and how many uh's and duh's fill the pauses; and last, but not least, to see if you sound like Donald Duck's cousin.

To be successful at the Oral boards, you need to get married to your hand-held tape recorder. You need to hear what the Oral board members are going to hear. That little tape recorder will narrow the distance between you and the badge you want so badly!

The first thing a candidate says when he hears his voice on a tape recorder is always: 'That's not me!' Well, yessir, it is you. And if you want it to sound different, glue that hand held tape recorder to your palm and practice, practice, practice!

It's a guy thing.

Guys prepare for the Orals by thinking about their answers and then writing them down. For some reason, they think that because they wrote them down, their answers will magically come rolling out of their mouths in the Oral. But, trust me, they won't! Your brain and mouth just don't work that way.

If you want to prepare by writing something down, try this:

Write down your oral board questions on some 3x5 cards. You can use the Top 20 Asked Oral Board Questions found at PoliceExam911.com.

Practice your answers with the tape recorder.

Play back your recorded answers. If you hear something you don't like, write it down on the back of the 3x5 card with that question.

The next time you're ready to answer that question, turn the card over first to remind yourself what you don't want to say.

Let me tell you how critical this is. If you're not using a tape recorder to practice, practice, practice--rehearse, rehearse, rehearse--learning your material until it becomes second nature to you; you may as well not show up for your oral board.

If you do not spend serious time burning your presentation and your answers into your brain, you are wasting the oral board's time and your time! Stop the madness and seek out another career. One problem though, you have to interview for other jobs too.

The candidate above has already lost some great opportunities. Had he faithfully used a tape recorder to prepare for his oral boards, he might have already begun his police career.

Some candidates think that if they practice too much their answers will sound 'canned'. But, NO, it won't! Practice will make sure your answers are planned, complete, and as perfect as possible.

Practice makes permanent.

"Luck is preparation meeting opportunity." One practice session with a tape recorder is worth speaking something out loud 10 times. Practice gets you to a point where your answers sink into your subconscious, and that's where the magic begins. Practice won't let you be fooled.

I believe practicing with a tape recorder is so important that I will not coach a candidate if they aren't using one. It is a waste of my time and their money.

Believe me, your competition knows the value of using a tape recorder and they will fly past you, if you're not using one too.

After 22 years of police experience, here's what I know: to properly prepare to audition for the position of police officer, you must use a tape recorder.

Practice, practice, practice and you will have the power to catapult yourself into the Olympic Camp of law enforcement. You will have a great shot at the badge -- and the chance to be one of the true American heroes.

So, instead of posting on bulletin boards to find out where others stand in the testing process for this city, or that county; ask yourself this question:

What am I doing to prepare for the most important part of the hiring process: the Oral board?

If your answer isn't the right answer, you may never pass the oral board, or score high enough on the list, to wear a badge. The truth is, you don't have to practice all the time to be a good guitarist.

(I'm not saying you shouldn't have time to goof off and play around. But if you want to improve quickly, you must keep playing guitar and practicing guitar separate.)

Let me tell you now...

It isn't how much time you put into practice, it's the quality of the practice that matters.

When I play guitar, I play to have fun, I play to perform for people, and I play for the fun of playing! That's why I started learning guitar in the first place.

But when I practice guitar, I focus and concentrate on what I'm trying to achieve, and I work on the goals that I want to complete.

You see, if you completely focus on one thing you are more likely to do it well.

This may sound simple too to some. Some of you may be thinking "this is great, I only need to practice 20 minutes a day and ill improve more than I would if I practicing 2 hours a day".

Well that's not exactly true.

Its how focused your practice is that counts, not how long you practice. Can you really focus for 2 hours?

Let me give you this small example to illustrate my point.

Picture a red triangle inside a black box.

Close your eyes, and keep that image in your mind for 5 seconds without letting a single thing distract you -- no other thought must enter your mind for that 5 seconds...

How well did you do? Be honest with yourself.

This isn't an easy thing to do. Most people find this difficult at first. Its difficult to keep a focused mind like this.

I hope this example has shown you that it's not that easy to keep focused attention and concentration for look periods of time.

But still, you must always remember that its quality and not quantity of practice that makes the difference between a great player and an average player.

This is a perfect time to tell you that you shouldn't be spending hours and hours 'practicing', because you simply can't focus for that amount of time.

If you are practicing for a solid 2 hours or more you are probably not helping your development as a guitarist that much.

A much better way of using this time is to practice in bursts.

A good idea would be to practice in bursts of 20 minutes or so. You can vary it depending on what you feel like doing, but try not to practice for long periods of time in one go. It's not helping as much as you think it might be.

Also, it's important to take breaks from what you're practicing. You can do something else for awhile, go for a walk, watch TV, or maybe just play around and have fun with your guitar and loosen up a bit before you start focusing on practice again.

It is important for you to have a definition in your own mind of 'practicing guitar' and 'playing guitar'.

This will keep you more focused and allow you to reach your goals as a guitarist much easier.

An exercise for you to try to help you further develop concentration is to sit silently and count slowly from one to ten in your mind.

If anything should interrupt your counting, whether it is a noise, a stray thought, or the awareness of your own breathing, you must start over from one.

Again, it's unlikely you will be able to achieve this straight-away. It's a hard thing to do. However how out and 'Zen' this exercise may seem, it will re-focus your mind on the task in hand, and it'll help you learn faster if you can stay focused on what you're practicing.

You should try this exercise whenever you start to feel like you're loosing your focus. <bio>Find more free guitar lessons here: http://www.guitar-secrets.net </bio>

If you want to play the guitar like a pro, to what the great professional guitarists do. Great guitarists treat their guitar as if the musical instrument is their lover. They are passionately in love with their guitars and that is one of the main reasons why they are such good guitarists.

If you want to learn how to play the guitar like them, you will need to understand that your guitar and you must form a very important and special "relationship". Just as like any loving relationship, your relationship with your guitar nurture and mature with time.

If you don't give your guitar enough time and have a deep passion for it, you will never develop a relationship with it. Therefore in order to play the guitar well, you must feel passionately about your guitar and the music you create with it. For without passion, you can never be a good guitarist.

The first thing to remember is "PDR!". Practice, drill and rehearse is the only way of ever learning how to play the guitar well. You need not practice for hours everyday, but it is absolutely crucial that you practice your guitar regularly and if possible, every day.

There is no point in practicing for 5 hours on Friday and then picking up your guitar again next Thursday. Just practice for about 30 minutes a day would be sufficient for you to become a proficient guitarist in a relatively short time.

What if you do not have the time to practice on your guitar everyday? Well, here are a few tricks to learn how to play the guitar like a pro.

a) Practice guitar chord changes over and over again until you have perfected the changes and are able to change chords fast and smoothly. If you have problem switching from F chord to a D open chord, you could keep practicing this every day until the switch is effortless.

When you have mastered that, then move on to another chord change exercise.

This may sound like a no brainer, but is very crucial because in time to come, you will be able to change chords very smoothly and comfortably, just like a pro.

b) Focus. Find a skill that you can improve on and work on perfecting that. You know that you cannot devote a lot of time to practicing on your guitar, so concentrating on one guitar skill set at a time, and progressively over time, you will have so many skill sets that even the professionals may be awed.

c) Play your favorite song. Everybody has a favorite song. Wouldn't you love to be able to play your favorite song and sing along as well? So play your favorite song.

At some point, you are bound to get tired of playing only guitar chords and riffs. So choose a song you like and work on it and then perfect it.

In this way you will actually have fun even while you are actually 'working' on your guitar and at the same time, gets you motivated.

d) Practice guitar licks. Working on a lick is a good way to learn how to play the guitar well. You can work through the licks many times in just a few minutes. This is a good technique to use while practicing chord changes as well.

e) String picking skills. Doing drills up and down the neck of the guitar can improve your guitar picking skills tremendously, which in turn contribute to you making immense progress with your guitar. Use a metronome to help you build speed so that you can play the licks fast and with good dexterity.

f) Practice guitar scaling. You can actually play a single scale about 70-100 times in ten minutes or so. Practicing by playing scales not only help you build your stamina but also helps you increase your playing speed.

g) Be creative. Play a few different chords that sound good together or even some melodies if you can. This way you can even come up with an entire song of your own!

Yes, play your own compositions and be passionate about your guitar playing. Most importantly, be disciplined and create a routine for yourself and stick to the routines.

These practice sessions may be small, but a few minutes a day and with the accumulation of time, your guitar playing skills will improve so much that very soon you will be playing the guitar like a pro. <bio>Chris Chew owns a learn music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>

A core aspect of guitar practice is goal setting.

To put it bluntly -- you must set goals!

Let me explain why this is so important. Hopefully my explanation will show you just how important, and incredibly powerful, this technique is if you want to be constantly improving as a guitar player.

If you set goals you give your sub-conscious mind something clear to focus on.

When you write down your goal, and commit to doing it, you have set something in motion. By writing it down, you're making it much more likely to happen.

So, you must set some goals and write them down.

I know this may sound unimportant to you at the moment, especially if you have never used this technique before.

But trust me on this...Before I set goals to work on in my practice I was highly frustrated with the lack of results I was getting.

Goal setting keeps you focused and makes you get what you want from your practice.

Also, if you don't set goals, you don't have anything clear to measure how well you've progressed. This can mean that you don't progress much at all, or you don't notice your progress.

This can lead to lack of desire to play guitar and lack of desire is a 100% guaranteed route to failure.

That's not what you want, is it?

So, in summary:

You must cover each of these points:

• Your must set long-term and short-term goals. • You must read and review your goals before you practice. • You must focus on completing these goals while you're practicing. • When you finish practicing, review your goals and tick off the goals you have completed. • If you miss a goal, don't worry! Review the goal and decide if it was realistic enough. If it wasn't realistic, change it until it is. If you still feel it is realistic, leave it there and work on it next time. • It helps to make your goal time limited. (E.g. Within 30 days) This will help keep you focused and accountable. <bio>Find more guitar lessons here: http://www.guitar-secrets.net </bio>

Are You Looking for a Magical Solution?

Are you struggling with trying to figure out how to play well? Are you feeling overwhelmed by so much to practice, so little time? Are you looking for a way to know what to practice so that you will improve quickly?

An adult student named Liz told me that she finds that she can't decide what to practice because there are too many choices.

Sue often complains that although she's learned many songs, she can no longer play them. She's frustrated because she loves practicing her new pieces every day, and wishes she could pick up something from the past and just play it. Has this happened to you?

It's Not Rocket Science

When the young man asks, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" the elderly New Yorker responds, "Practice, practice, practice." Notice that the word practice is stated three times.

It takes 3 weeks to establish a good habit, but only 3 days to lose it. Every time you focus on one specific musical goal for 21 straight days, you will establish a new keyboard success habit.

Establishing Your Keyboard Success Habit

Here are the three things you need to do to establish your keyboard success habit.

1.Make a choice

Success does not come from practicing all of your songs, exercises and/or classical pieces all the time. There simply aren't enough hours in the day for this. In order to get great results, you need to pick one piece that you really like and want to learn to play well. You will still practice your other music, but now you have selected one special piece that you want to master, memorize or both.

2.Focus on your number one priority

You need to practice your selected special piece every single day. Sometimes this will be the only thing you practice. Other days, when more time is available, you can give attention to your other musical material. The most important thing is that you concentrate single-mindedly on your number one priority: to practice your special piece daily.

3.Make a commitment and stick to it

Promise yourself that you will keep your commitment to practicing this one special piece for 21 consecutive days, just three weeks. You will amaze yourself when you hear how much better you sound. Your confidence will improve too!

Action Exercises

Here are three steps you can take immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, select one special piece, practice it every single day for three weeks. All of your other music can receive your attention after you focus on your number one priority.

Second, remember that once you see the great results of your efforts, you'll be so excited that you'll repeat this process with another one of your favorite pieces.

Third, take this method up one more notch by practicing your special selected piece every day for three months. Your musical success is guaranteed! <bio>Ed Mascari has been teaching piano privately to children and adults for nearly three decades.
Noise Pollution of RC Helicopters! Forget about the noise because gas RC Helicopters comes with the engine the sound cannot escape your ear. But here lies the answer to the question. Gas RC Helicopter is powered by an engine that is ran by fuel. This is much complicated to maintain and requires a higher level of mechanical understanding to operate (compared to electric RC Helicopter). then you should settle for kinds that are easy to fly. What you should be looking for is an electric radio-controlled helicopter. In this way you eliminate the risk of crashing down your newly purchased helicopter to the ground.

Build Your Own RC Helicopters If you prefer building model helicopter for your personal gallery. If you don't fly on an AMA sanctioned field AMA insurance ($60 / yr) still has many benefits theft insurance to name one. ...and so long as you follow all the AMA guidelines when flying at a park or school you are covered there too incase the unimaginable happens and someone gets hurt. If you want instant RC Helicopter parts homebuilt helicopters are sold in kit.

RC Helicopter are Simple RC Helicopters become more complicated because of the fact that there are more ways to fly them and thus. Do not fly with the sun near the horizon. It gets hard to see the attitude. Practice hovering a little bit higher say 10 - 20 feet. Practice subtle 180 stalls and figure-8's. Practice going faster and slowing down. Practice transitioning your RC Helicopter from fast forward flight to landing. All about RC Helicopters at http://www.rchelicopterguide.info. Brands: There is nothing really to say about this if you know what your looking for then we stock some of the best brands including Century JR Futaba Hirobo etc...

Getting a RC Helicopter Sim Pack I think RC Helicopter simulator teaches you coordination very well. It teaches some bad habits maybe. If your helicopter banks yaws or pitches by itself you need to compensate with trim. Practice hovering from 6 inches to 1 foot. Be prepared for gusts: wind will increase the effectiveness of your rotor blades and make your helicopter climb fast. Ok. <bio>Full details on RC Helicopters at http://www.rchelicopterguide.info </bio>

The Internet has an abundance of online resources of free and pay practice exam questions about information technology computer certification. There are many companies with high visibility websites that offer free practice exam and test questions to show that they are concerned about giving you some certification training. The practice exam questions that are more relevant to the actual certification exam will require a purchase. These websites are hoping that you will like the free practice test questions so you will want to purchase the detail ones that give you an explanation of the answer.

What are the advantages of purchasing computer certification practice test questions over the free practice exam questions that are available? Free practice exam questions can be helpful for those want to save on your expenses. Free practice exam questions are usually the basics of information technology. The real in-depth material of computer technology will have to be purchased. The best practice exam questions usually come at a moderate price.

Where does a student who is preparing for an IT certification exam find practice exam questions that are similar or practically identical to the real certification exam? Can there possibly be a place for a person to find practice test question on computer certification that would be just like the ones on the actual exam? What would you look for in finding the best and most applicable practice exam questions about the actual certification exam? I would look for a place that had up to date practice exam question. Microsoft and others are constantly changing the test questions on the certification exam. All software companies have updates to there system, so the test questions should change also.

A student who had practice exam questions pertaining to the field of technology that they were studying that were almost identical to the original certification exam, wouldn't they be better prepared for the final certification exam? Knowing what is on the final certification exam can build your confidence and ability to pass it. I would say that there are very few places where you could find practice exam questions that would be the same as the actual certification exam and have the price be reasonable.

Is it possible to find a Website or book that tells you how to pass your information technology certification exam? Who would have information on the best practice exam questions that would be closest to the actual certification exam? Knowing what a certification test looks like and how to prepare for it would be very beneficial. Practice exam questions can tell you what material you should be studying for the final certification exam. No one can memorize all of the material related to a field of IT certification. Practice exam questions are very important to use in preparing for your certification exam.

Getting some advice from someone who has gone through the whole experience of receiving his or her information technology certification would greatly help. Someone who has not only a success story to tell you about when passing a certification exam but also can tell of a failure in order for you to better learn from their mistake. They probably could tell you where you could get the best computer training and find the best practice exam questions that would be the closest to the actual certification exam at a good price.

Does anybody really know how to use practice exam questions to prepare for a computer certification exam? How do you study practice questions for an IT certification exam? Most practice exam questions purchased will be 300 or more and there are only about 60 questions on the actual certification exam. Is it possible to memorize all 300 questions to be completely prepared to take your certification exam? Some certification practice questions come in a package of about 700 questions and only 100 actual questions on the exam. Do you really need to memorize the practice test questions or is there another way? I bet someone on the Internet has the information that you are looking for. <bio>Bill Naugle has been writing articles, press releases and ebooks to help webmasters achieve success with information technology certification, Internet business and search engine rankings.
Join us as we take a look into several different methods of how to improve your guitar tone during a live performance. You can also learn the benefits of using guitar backing tracks to help perfect your skills in practice and for help developing tone live.

One of the key aspects of putting on a great live performance is having a great sounding guitar tone that cuts through the mix. There are a lot of different ways that you can improve your guitar tone during a live performance to help you achieve a professional sounding tone that will leave your audience's ears pleased.

One of the ways you can improve your tone during a live performance is to cut back on the distortion. Too much distortion can make your notes sound thinner and cause a lot of buzzing that will take away from the rest of your performance. It's recommended that if you need a little extra crunch on your guitar that you use an effects pedal rather than the amp settings. Do not cut all the mids out in your settings. Try not to go for the modern "Scooped" mid sound in Mesa Boogie ampilfiers unless you really require that tone. Marshalls are great for their strong midrange and that is the reason why they record so well and are great live amps. Mid range is what makes your tone sound BIG!

Do also ensure that the drums are not over powering and the microphones are properly placed. The noise from the drum will drown the volume of the guitarists if the microphones are not placed strategically in the setup.

Another great tip for improving guitar tone in your live performances is to use a tube amplifier. These provide a warm sounding tone and can really help to bring out the sweetness of your guitar sound. You will also need a great deal of wattage on the speakers too if you have playing in a large hall. Those small amps will not cut it.

The best way to improve your guitar tone when playing live is to remember that great tone lies in your fingertips. Developing good tone means you have to develop your techniques and skills. The best guitarist in the world could play through the worst equipment around and still make it sound good, because of his playing abilities. If you gave an amateur the best equipment and guitars money could buy, they would still sound like an amateur.

One of the best ways to perfect your techniques and skills is to practice and perform live with guitar backing tracks. Guitar backing tracks can be very beneficial for learning good improvisation techniques. Playing with backing tracks for guitar can help you to be prepared for playing live and help you to develop the natural tone from your own playing style.

These backing tracks for guitarists can also be used to get better guitar tone by using them to play your live shows. Using guitar backing tracks for live shows are like being backed by a professional sounding band, which can help you to find a great quality tone.

Guitar backing tracks are professionally recorded by seasoned musicians and can help you develop your ear along with your skills. <bio>Eugene is the founder of Planet of Rock Music Studios.
