When buying snowboarding equipment the first item on most minds is the snowboard. So what are the basic 'need to knows' of the snowboard types?

Types of Snowboard:

There are three types of snowboard to consider: Freestyle, Freeride(all mountain) and Alpine (carving boards).

Freestyle Snowboards

These are wide, stable snowboards that are forgiving to ride. They are very responsive which makes them good equipment used for snowboarding for novices. The snowboard characteristics make them good for pulling tricks but less responsive in high speed carving due to flexibility and edge grip. They are often twin tipped and multi directional making them good for tricks and half pipes but ideal for beginners.

Freeride(all mountain)Snowboards

Generally the most popular snowboard on the slopes. Good for all mountain use, park or half pipe. Freeride snowboards tend to float reasonably well on powder, can carve and can be used to catch air, this make them popular boards. Freeride snowboards tend to be directional, meaning one end (the tip) is wider than the tail. They tend to be soft and manouveurable for beginners but offer enough stiffness for fast carves in harder snow, these boards offer a mix of characteristics between freestyle and alpine snowboards.

Alpine Snowboards

definitely not for the novice, these snowboards are stiff, narrow, long and built for speed. Built for speed carving and stability at speed with good edge holding powers they tend to be either symmetrical or asymmetrical but always built for one way travel.

Length and Width of Snowboard

Once you have chosen the type of snowboard that best suits your level of competence and ride style there are then several other factors to be considered in your choice of snowboard before buying.

Your height and foot size play an important part in your choice of snowboard.

The length of snowboard that will suit will be down to the riders height and ridestyle. Snowboards are usually 100cms to 180cms long.

A freestyle snowboard should stand tall enough to reach between the riders shoulders and chin when stood on end.

A freeride snowboard should reach between chin and eyebrows.

An alpine or carving snowboard should stand tall enough to reach a point between the forehead and a few inches above the head.

Foot size is important for determining the width of the snowboard. If your feet overhang the board there is a danger of catching an edge and tumbling. If your feet are too small then it is difficult to apply pressure to the edges to initiate turns. If you are an advanced rider using a carving board with big feet it may be necessary to alter your stance to avoid overhanging the edges.

Of course before you buy equipment used for snowboarding you should rent a few snowboards first to see what style, brand best suit you. <bio>John Rodgers writes for http://www.snowboarding-picture.com </bio>

Snowboarding is a sport growing in popularity and as a result the variety of snowboards available is becoming quite large and can make it hard to choose which one is right for you. There are currently hundreds of different brands of snowboards and equipment to choose from.

Many ski resorts and ski shops will allow you to rent snowboarding equipment so it could be a good idea to rent some different snowboards to get a feel for the boards and find out which one would best suit you. It is important to get a snowboard based on your weight and height. Men's boards will be different in length than women's boards and are likely to have different designs, but really there is nothing major to stop you from using either board. Children will of course have boards based on their size.

You can get snowboards that are made specifically to allow you to do certain skills like you all rounder boards will allow you to free ride up and down mountains and will be fine for someone just starting out and learning the sport. The all rounders will also allow you to tackle jumps and moguls. Other boards are made more for speed and may be longer and have less of a curved edge.

Some of the common brands of snowboards are as follows:

=95Burton =96 Burton is one of the most popular brands and has been in business for 30 years. Burton is the `big name' in snowboarding. Many of the `big' professional snowboarders endorse the Burton brand.

=95Forum =96 The Forum company has a very dedicated team, the results of which shows in the quality and craftsmanship of their products. Burton was very impressed with the Forum Company and as a result acquired the company in 2004.

=95Gnu =96 This is a very long standing brand and they are a very innovative company. All Gnu snowboards are handmade and are of very good quality.

=95Ride =96 Ride are a very popular company that offer great quality in their boards as well as very stylish outerwear. They are always improving their gear and have uniqueness about their products.

=95Rome =96 This is a company formed by some experienced snowboarders that have such a passion for their sports that they decided to share their passion by offering people their innovative and unique products. If you want to have some fun with your snowboarding products then Rome is a good choice.

Some other snowboard brands are Flow, K2, Arbor, Elan, Nidecker, Rossignol and Salomon.

For some of the top brands you will be paying $500 or even up to $1000. These are quite specialized boards that will allow you to do skills like tight turns and speed riding.

There is a big selection of snowboards available online but you have the disadvantage of not being able to physically touch or look at the board before you buy it. This is where renting can be very useful if you rent some boards and find which one is right for you then you can go shopping online and find the board that you want. <bio>Lucas Bradford.
There is possibly nothing more that the snowboarding enthusiast on your Christmas list would like for Christmas than snowboard equipment or accessories. It may surprise you to know that you can purchase some great snowboarding-related gifts for under $500.

Because snowboarding is susceptible to trends and styles fading quickly, it is always best to aim for quality rather what looks cool today.

When considering the purchase of a snowboard, don't be fooled into thinking that you have to pay high prices to get quality. For many seasons, riders have chosen the kink ride because of its durability.

In addition, the kink ride snowboard is mellow enough to let its riders learn a new trick or two while at the same time packing sufficient experience to keep up with many of the advanced snowboard happy riders.

Gnu High Beam Carbon

This snowboard Christmas gift idea comes from the Mike Olsen Company. The people from this company manufacture high-end snowboards.

This particular snowboard carves much like a snowboard racer and is easy to control in any terrain. The tail and smooth shape of the Gnu high beam carbon actually float thru rips and powder.

Mendenhall option This snowboard Christmas gift idea rocks because it is ready to take on park hits, long handrails, urban terrain without it being too expensive.

Plus, this particular snowboard rides better than some of the expensive snowboards on the market, making them affordable for the average weekend snowboarder.

Team Endeavor

This snowboard company is best known for top of the line snowboards with great graphics. Usually, such a combination mean one thing: very expensive.

However, Team endeavor has created a completely handcrafted board with great graphics at an affordable price. It allows anyone to ride with the maximum style.

Overall, there are many snowboard Christmas gift ideas that fit your budget and preference as long as you know where and what to look for. <bio>For more information on the sport of snowboarding, visit http://Snowboarding.GettingOutdoors.com.
Before you head out on the slopes, you should take the time to check all of your equipment to make sure that it is working properly. This includes checking your snowboard to make sure that the bindings are secure and that there are many ridges on the bottom of the board that could get caught on rough patches. Oiling the board before you take it out will help reduce friction and allow you to have a safe ride on most snow conditions. If you will be snowboarding with a group of people, you should make sure that their snowboards are in good working condition as well.

When snowboarding with others, you should agree on a meeting place and time. This is important when snowboarding in a new place. Safety in cold weather does save lives. Meeting a few hours after you begin will ensure that everyone is safe. You should snowboard in teams if possible. While you should not snowboard when there are many people skiing and snowboarding, you should try to find slopes that have other people on them. They will be able to help in case you are injured and need medical assistance.

Make sure your snowboard boots are functioning properly before you go outside. Make sure all the buckles are working and that they are not too tight or too loose. If your boots do not fit properly, then you may fall while on your board. You can twist your ankle or break your leg if it gets turned the wrong way. Checking all equipment is important, but you should pay particular attention to your boots. If you don't think your boots are suitable, you can rent some for the day.

Snowboard bindings are used to keep your feet planted on your board. If they are loose, you could injure yourself. Replace any bindings before you go on your trip. This will help reduce the risk of injury. Snowboarding requires you to jump, slide, and turn quickly. You will not be able to do any of these things if your bindings do not work.

When packing for your snowboarding trip, you will have to remember to bring enough warm clothing, hats, gloves, and snowboard goggles so that you will be warm. Goggles will help you see where you are going and will prevent you from injuring your eyes. When snowboarding, it is important to always know where you are going. Being able to see will reduce your risk of being injured.

When you have checked all of your snowboarding equipment, you will be ready to go on your trip. Checking your equipment right before you head out will help to keep you even safer so that you will be able to have a fun trip. <bio>Carl Deveraux is a freelance editor for Snowboard Cabin Snowboards.
Each years tens of millions of people set off for fun on the slopes. The allure of racing down the slopes, or relaxing next to a fire in the lodge, has made the ski vacation an ever popular destination for winter getaways. A ski vacation can be both exhilarating and relaxing, and with proper planning a ski vacation can be a time you will never forget.

Before setting off on your ski vacation be sure to thoroughly inspect your equipment. Make sure your boots are snug and comfortable and your bindings are sound and functioning. Be sure to pack clothes that can be worn in layers that will keep you warm and dry. Nothing will ruin a ski vacation like malfunctioning equipment or improper clothing and outerwear.

Planning can also let you find a ski vacation that will fit both your schedule and your budget. Booking a ski vacation early can often give you the best discounts. Make sure to purchase your lift tickets early so you have more time to ski on your ski vacation, and be sure to purchase multiple day tickets in order to get the best discounts.

It is also important to remember that there is more to a great ski vacation than skiing alone. Many resorts have fabulous restaurants and other activities to enjoy when you aren't on the slopes. Dining, ice skating, swimming, hiking, or simply relaxing in the hot tub; a great ski vacation is when you enjoy all the amenities that the resort has to offer. Take the time before your ski vacation to investigate all the available activities so you will be prepared to take advantage of all the fun to be had.

Once you arrive on your ski vacation it is time to put your plans into action. If you are renting skis or snowboards make sure to pick them up the night before you start skiing. The lines are much shorter in the evenings and having your equipment ready will let you be among the first to enjoy the fresh snow! <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about ski vacation visit our ezGuide 2 http://skivacations.ezguide2.com </bio>

Action Sports are very popular these days and there are many types. They include sports such as Motocross racing, Surfing, Waterskiing, Parasailing, Rock Climbing and the list goes on. Here is a brief history of the beginnings of a few of the more popular Action Sports.

History of Skateboarding.

Skateboarding began in Southern California sometime in the late 40s or early 50s. Southern California has some of the most popular surfing spots in the state which attract surfers from all over the world. Even when the waves were not right the surfers wanted to be able to surf so somehow skateboarding evolved, no one really knows who built the very first skateboard, but the idea caught on and spread like wild fire. Today there are skateparks, ramp skating, trick skating and the Skateboard itself has evolved to allow skaters the ability to perform very complicated tricks and maneuvers.

History of Snowboarding.

The first Snowboard was called the Snurfer and was manufactured as a toy in 1966. I was basically a Skateboard with no wheels that you would steer with a rope. It had no bindings but would allow your boots to adhere to the board. In the early 70s a surfer developed a Snowboard called the Winterstick based on the feel of a surfboard but with the same function as skis. Through the years Snowboards and Snowboarding have increased greatly in popularity with the boards now being designed to enable Snowboards to race and perform freestyle tricks.

History of Skiing.

Skiing began as a means of travel and transportation. Sondre Norheim of Norway helped develop Skiing as Recreation and a Sport. In the mid to late 1800s lighter, thinner, cambered skis and a new stiff binding were developed which made it possible for skiers to swing, jump and maneuver turns while skiing down hill.

Some types of skiing are;

Alpine Skiing is what you do when you go to a ski resort, ride the lift and let gravity propel you down the run.

Alpine Freestyle or Jib skiing is where skiers use jumps or kicks to do aerial tricks.

Back Country Skiing or Nordic touring uses Nordic style equipment which allows skiers to ski up hill in areas where there are no chairlifts.

Cross Country Racing is one third up hill, one third downhill and one third flat.

Adaptive Skiing is done by people with physical disabilities and allows for adaptations to standard ski equipment.

Military Skiing is recreational and a means of transportation for the military, many armies train for ski warfare.

Nordic Jumping or ski flying is where skiers slide down a ramp and fly to see who can to the furthest before landing on the ground.

Nordic Skiing is the most popular style and does not require a special ski area and was developed in Scandinavia as a means of travel in winter.

Telemark skiing uses flexible ski boots that do not lock the heels into the skis which allow the skier to travel at higher speeds.

History of Cycling.

Cycling has grown in popularity over the years and throughout the world. In some countries it is a means of transportation through very narrow streets that will not allow cars to travel or countries where cars are too expensive. Cycling as a sport has increased in popularity throughout the world as well and uses bikes that are specially designed for the terrain and speeds.

Action Sports Gifts.

Action Sports are becoming more popular everyday and there are many types. They can include other sports such as Motocross racing, Surfing, Waterskiing, Parasailing, Rock Climbing, 4 Wheeling, Snowmobiling, Drag Racing, Mountain Biking and more.

Some interesting gift ideas for an Action Sports enthusiast might be to decorate a small tree with Action Sports Ornaments. There are Skateboarding Ornaments, Bike Racer Ornaments, Gifts for Snowboarders, Snowboarding Ornaments and Skiing Ornaments. These are just a few of the different types of Action Sports Gifts that are available.
The family that bikes together, stays together.

Whether you're going on a trip by yourself or with your family, there's no reason why you shouldn't bring your bicycles along with you, and every reason why you should.

Why should I bring my bike when I could probably rent one wherever I go, you'll be asking yourself.

Because bicycles that are offered for rent are often not of the best quality. They're usually 'beaters' - just something on two wheels for people to get around. And if you're used to your own bike you won't enjoy tooling around on something of lesser quality.

There's no room for a bike in my car with all my luggage, you'll say next.

This is not a problem either. Invest in a roof bike rack. No need to worry that there's no room for your bikes - just put them on top of your car in the rack. It may look odd to drive around with bikes standing on top of your car, but it's aerodynamic, and the bikes are safer than they would be if they were in a rack at the back of your car, where a careless motorist could bump into them.

Another reason to bring your bikes with you on any trip is you'll save the cost of renting bikes at your destination. Not only will these rental bikes not be very good, but they'll cost everyone a daily fee, which you could better use to spend on food or souvenirs.

Roof Bike Racks Are Suitable for Near Trips as Well as Far

Even if you don't plan on taking trips to distant places, a roof bike rack is still the way to go. No more having to take off the wheels to get the bike to fit in your trunk. No more worrying whether grease or dirt will stain the car's interior. Just put the bike on the roof and away you go.

There are several brands of roof bike racks. Each one does require the installation of a multi-purpose roof rack andquot;base systemandquot; which remains on top of your car even when you take the bikes off. However, since the rack base system is multi-purpose, you'll also be able to carry not only bikes but skis, snowboards, canoes, and even cargo boxes.

Every bike rack system has issues that you need to be aware of. For the roof rack, the important thing to remember that you actually have something tall strapped to the top of your car. You'll have no problem going through tunnels, but if you have access to a garage, make sure the garage door is fully open before you try to drive in! <bio>Alastair Hamilton loves writing for http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com .
No matter how organized we are in other areas of our lives, our garages seem to be the one place where disorganization rules. But this is really valuable space, and if you can organize it you will get a lot of use out to it. But it is a task that no one likes to do. Just remember that organizing your garage simply means finding a place for everything in it so you can find each thing easier and get a job done faster. That should inspire you to get started, if you know you will save time over the long run.

The first step to take is to sort all of the items in the garage and categorize them. Empty the garage out and put everything in different piles according to category. Tools separate from sporting equipment, electric tools separate from garden tools, etc. You will be amazed at how much stuff you have once you get everything out. But once you know how much you have, you will be better able to start the organization process. You will probably end up with extra space, since you may find that some things really belong in the attic, or the basement or perhaps, the garbage! tones you have everything in the right place, and keep putting them back in the right place, you will be amazed at how easy things will be.

Put a special rack in the garage for your lawn maintenance tools. This will keep them out of the way, but accessible. YOU can also store your winter maintenance items such as snow blowers, ice scrapers and shovels as well as winter sports items such as skis, snowboards and sleds. Keep the winter items separate from the summer items, and when seasons change, you can just shift things around to make it more convenient to get the things you will use more frequently. Put the rest of the sporting equipment on racks like this so you are ready for each season.

If you add shelves and cabinets while you are organizing, you will add additional storage space and it will also help the organization process.

If you use your garage as a workshop, put in a workbench. If you hang shelves and a pegboard along with a tool box to keep the tools locked away, your work area will be easier to keep clean.

While you are cleaning and organizing, put garbage and recycling bins right near you and throw things away that you know you do not need. If you have to pick them up again to bring them to the garbage, you may have second thoughts.

You may want to consider hiring someone to install shelves, cabinets and closets ino the garage. Investing in the installation of this kind of equipment will make it easier in the long run to keep your items organized and put away. <bio>Focusing on informating about woodworking workbench, Linden Walhard is publishing largely for http://www.insidewoodworking.com . With his detailed writings such as http://www.insidewoodworking.com/workclam/garageworkbench.html ,the reviewer confirmed his skill on topics like garage workbench. </bio>

When I was young, I couldn't wait for winter! It never really mattered how cold it was outside, I just wanted to play in the snow. Whether it was sledding, tobogganing, building a snowman or having a snowball fight with the other kids, I just wanted to be outside!

If you have fond memories like I do of playing in the snow when you were younger, you want your children to experience this same fun. You also want to be sure your child is playing with a fun, but safe winter toy. Since winter is only a few months long, let's take a look at a few inexpensive but fun toy options available today.

Snow Tubes are an awesome winter snow toy and they cost less than $8! Light enough for kids to carry, but durable enough to hold up to plenty of down hill slides, snow tubes are definitely a toy to take a look at for winter fun.

Love to toboggan? Do you remember trying to drag that heavy toboggan up the hill? Boy I do! It was almost too much work to try to get up that hill for a 30 second ride =96 but what a ride it was. Today, there is a lightweight toboggan that your kids (and you) are sure to love. The lightweight Blizzard inflatable toboggan is easy for kids to carry, but manufactured of thick, heavy vinyl for durability. Winter fun for 1 or 2 people or kids with a price less than $20.

Snow sleds are another fun winter toy =96 but they can also be costly. If you're not looking to spend $100 or more on a snow sled, the Summit snow sled may be just what you're looking for. Heavy duty with hand grips, this inflatable snow sled will have you and your children flying down the hills. Cost is less than $20.

How about a winter toy that does double duty as a summer toy also? Almost two toys for the price of one =96 now that's smart shopping. The Ski Storm inflatable Jet Ski is a great ride-on sled for a kid that does double duty as a pool toy in the summer. This toy is made quite well of durable vinyl and patented Weathertek for year-round fun and priced less than $25.

Are your kids ready to try a snow board, but you're not ready for them to do so? The inflatable rocket ranger snow board is a great way for them to learn how to snow board. This snow board is made of sturdy vinyl with 2 built on boot straps, can hold up to 120 pounds and is recommended for kids 6 =96 12 years old. With a price tag less than $10, this is a great way to determine if snow boarding is really what your children want to do.

Don't forget the accessories that make your life easier =96 and safer. Snowboarders should wear protective gear such as helmets and today's air pumps are affordable and won't leave you gasping for air. Outdoor toys that are affordable but fun are the way to go this winter season. <bio>Denise Sanger owns and operates http://NewCoolToysOnline.com which carries a diverse catalog of toys to play outdoors. Our winter toys like snow tubes, snowboards, and snow sleds are inexpensive as well as fun. </bio>

Interested in snowboarding but haven't got a clue where to start or what gear you need? Have no fear, here are the essential items you need to begin your snowboarding adventure.

Snowboard

There are three basic types of snowboards, with each one varying in width and the shape of their tip and tail. Each type is geared for a different type of snowboarding. For most beginners, a freestyle board will be what you want to choose. A freestyle board offers an ease of use, handling and is generally easier to turn, all essential requirements for beginners.

Boots and Bindings

When trying on boots for snowboarding, make sure you select a pair that fits your feet as well as possible. Choose boots that are too loose and you won't get the control you need, choose boots that are too tight and you won't be comfortable. Don't skip this consideration. Also, your boots should keep your feet warm, so the cheapest option might not be the best option. Check the boots for a good amount of lining and cushioning. Next, you'll want to check the flexibility and control the boots will give you. Your boots need to flex properly to allow you to control the board speed and direction. If the boots are too stiff, you may not get the amount of control you need. According to the boot you choose, there will be a type of binding that goes with it. Be sure to try on and test the boots and bindings in the store before you make a purchase. Making your purchase at a store that has a generous return policy is also a good idea. That way you can return or exchange the boots if you find they aren't working for you.

Apparel

Obviously, it's going to be freezing out there in the snow. You'll want to choose apparel that keeps your body warm and dry but also allows you enough freedom of movement to enjoy yourself. In general, you'll want several layers including some long underwear or undershirt, then a cotton shirt above that, then a fleece pullover, then a thicker jacket over that for warmth and finally a waterproof jacket over that. Layering allows you to adjust for your own comfort and warmth as needed. You'll also want to choose some headwear, such as a helmet or beanie to prevent heat loss through your head.

Accessories

One of the most important accessories you'll want to have is a pair of snowboarding goggles. A good pair of goggles will protect your eyes from snow glare, the sun, snow and if you should veer off course, your eyes will be protected from that stray branch that hits you in the face. Other accessories that are also important include gloves, socks, sunblock, ear warmers, scarf and any safety accessories you may need, like wrist and knee guards.

Armed with this knowledge, you should be able to start your snowboarding adventure off with the right gear, safer and more efficiently. <bio>Lydia Quinn writes for PhatSportShades, a leading performance eyewear provider, offering snowboarding goggles.
The life of a snowboarder can be hard. While boarding is becoming much more popular in the US, boarders still don't get a lot of love from skiers. That's why it's important to be aware of the best places to snowboard. If you know the best places, you'll not only be able to find the best slopes and terrain parks for boarding, you'll also be able to find a place great atmosphere where you're not the only one who enjoys snowboarding. There are many places where you can have a great time boarding, but two of the best are in Colorado. They boast not only great runs, but great atmosphere as well.

If you're looking for a great place to snowboard, the first place you want to check out is Breckenridge. They've got 146 runs with a good mix of beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert levels. If you're less about going down the mountain and more about doing tricks, they also have three terrain parks. One of the terrain parks, Freeway Superpark, hosts several competitions every year and is widely considered the best terrain park in Colorado and even North America. If you're not quite ready for that kind of park yet, they also have a terrain park built specifically for beginners to learn their moves. And if you get bored of the mountains at Breckenridge, you can catch a free shuttle over to neighboring Keystone for some night skiing and snowboarding (and the tickets are interchangeable). If this isn't enough for you, the town has a great atmosphere as well. The resort area is the largest historic district in the state of Colorado. It boasts tons of shops, a variety of great restaurants, oxygen bars, and you can take free shuttles from town to each peak. If you're into the night-life, Breckenridge has several clubs and bars to suit all the late-night partiers. If you're with people who are into something besides going down the mountain, there is also snowmobiling, ice skating, dog sled tours, hiking trails, and a whole lot more. If you're looking for a great all-around resort, Breckenridge is the place to go.

If you're just learning to snowboard, Vail is a great resort to check out. Besides the fact that Vail is widely considered to be the best ski resort in the US (and the biggest), it's also got great accommodations for those who are just starting out; including a school with over 800 instructors (including those fluent in different languages) and tons of beginner runs. This way you won't get by doing the same thing over and over while you're learning. They also boast one of the largest terrain parks for those looking to work on their tricks. Vail is also not a bad place to go for those of you who are a little more experienced on the slopes. They have so many different runs of all levels; snowboards of all levels of experience are bound to keep busy the whole time they're there. And when you're taking a break from boarding, you can take one of the free shuttles into town where you can fine over 250 shops and 100 restaurants and bars. In a resort like Vail, you're sure to never get bored.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your board and head off to one of these great resorts! <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for http://www.goskibreckenridge.com/ and http://www.goskiaspen.com/.
When most people think of taking a luxury holiday to Dubai, they think of Dubai city itself; staying at the breathtaking Burj Al Arab (the premier luxury hotel in Dubai), viewing the crazy building projects like the Palm Islands, shopping in the prestigious Wafi Mall or haggling for jewellery in the world famous Gold Souk. But there is much more to do on a luxury holiday to Dubai than just sightseeing in the city -- there's plenty of fun to be had out in the desert as well.

While it's unlikely that you'll be staying in the desert for any length of time during a luxury holiday to Dubai, it is the perfect place to stay for a night or two, or visit as a day trip. As well as being a visually striking and fascinating place to explore, it'll also give you the chance to take part in some unique holiday activities...

Camel riding

Camel rides are an essential part of any visit to the desert, and will give you the chance to do your best Lawrence of Arabia impression as you trot across the sand dunes. There are plenty of Dubai holiday companies that run camel riding trips in the desert, ranging from half hour tasters to day long treks. They'll be able to run you through the basics of camel handling, but here's my top tip: when a camel stands up, it first raises its back legs, then its front legs. This means you need to lean back first then forwards as the camel stands up, or you could be sent flying!

Dune Bashing

If you take a trip to the desert during your luxury holiday to Dubai you'll inevitably go dune bashing, a favourite activity for travellers with stomachs that are strong enough to take it! The premise of dune bashing is simple: get into a 4x4, go to the desert, and start driving over the towering sand dunes. Tearing across, up and down these sand dunes is tremendous fun; and with the absence of roads, it is pretty much the only way to get anywhere in the desert! It is also very safe -- although it looks haphazard, any good tour company will employ good drivers and robust vehicles.

Sand Skiing

Yet another weird and wonderful activity to take part in while on holiday in Dubai, sand skiing is exactly what it sounds like. Out in the desert, many of the sand dunes have sand that is smooth enough to travel down on "snowboards". It is tremendous fun, and falling over into warm sand is much less painful than taking a tumble into ice, snow and rock!

Desert BBQ

If you'd like to spend a night out in the desert as part of a luxury holiday to Dubai, one option is overnight camping, Bedouin style. It may not have all the mod cons of a Dubai luxury hotel, but you'll be treated to Arabic cuisine, entertained by traditional music and belly dancing, then get to sleep beneath the stars in the desert -- a truly unforgettable experience.<bio>Peter Vasilou is a Dubai expert for key2holidays, an online tour operator specialising in luxury holidays to Dubai, as well as holidays in Australia, Cuba, the Caribbean, Europe, the Far East, the Maldives, Mauritius and the Seychelles, Egypt and Southern Africa.
One of the first conditions for promotions items is that they be useful. There's no point in giving your clients or customers something they can't use--and use frequently, so that your logo and information is always in their hand and in their sight. You want the exposure repeated, so that they see your name not just once, but over and over. In time, with repeated uses, they will come to associate your business with helpfulness, convenience and usefulness.

One product that meets this standard us usefulness extremely well is promotional bottle openers. Everyone needs a bottle opener at hand sometimes, and since there are several different kinds of bottle openers chances are that very few days will go by when your customer doesn't need to have one in his or her hand for some reason. You can capitalize on this need in your promotions.

Promotional bottle openers come in a wide variety of different types and designs. One convenient way to offer promotional bottle openers to your clients is on key rings--making them not only double practical, but also ensuring that they see your logo every time they pull out their keys. For most people, that means exposure several times a day.
It's that time of the year again - how often do you find yourself dreading the bitter cold winter and for many the real prospect of piling on weight partly due to over indulgence in food during the Christmas holiday season and also because of the general lack of motivation to exercise? If you need the fun factor in exercise during winter, try snowboarding.

Snowboarding has in recent years become increasingly popular especially with the general public. Just like snow-skiing, it is a well-loved winter sport. As you will be spending a lot of time on the snow mountain, it is important that you put on the correct protective snowboard clothing and gear to ensure your safety, comfort and warmth. Your first layer of clothing should be made of materials that wick moisture away from your body such as polypropylene or synthetic polyester. Avoid cotton materials as they absorb moisture without wicking it away from your body, therefore causing your body to lose heat rather than trapping it. Your next layer, after putting on a base layer of long underwear, sleeves and woollen socks should serve as the insulation layer. Put on a wool jacket, a pullover sweater or a micro fleece sweater top that you can easily take off if you warm up too much or add to if the day is particularly cold. Then your last outer layer of snowboard clothing (jacket and pants) should have strong waterproof and windproof properties to keep you dry and your body temperature sealed in. The harsher the environment and climate, the more robust your weatherproof clothing needs to be including having features such as additional venting, extra waterproofing and having inner cuffs on your pants to seal tightly around your boots to prevent snow from accumulating in your boots.

Being exposed to the snow all day can be very detrimental to your eyes especially on a bright sunny day when the ray reflects off the white snow. You must wear goggles to protect your eyes from the harmful rays and piercing winds. Wearing a helmet will protect your head and keep it warm. In more extreme weather conditions, you will need to have a neck wrap which will shield your neck and face from the elements. To protect your hands, make sure you get a pair of stretchable gloves that fit over the cuffs of your jacket. Some people prefer using mittens as they are warmer than gloves. There is a wide selection of snowboards designed for different groups of users depending on their snowboarding skill levels, age, body build and the type of snow mountain that the snowboard will be put to use. They come in different shapes and sizes and technical specifications, do check with the experts to determine the best snowboard for you. When selecting a pair of suitable boots, make sure the boots feel snug from heel to toe. When you raise your heel, the heel of the boot should raise in tandem. You should not be able to rotate your foot or ankle in the boot. Loose boots will lead to injury and cause you to lose control of the snowboard when sliding down the slope.

It is always a good idea to choose functionality over fashion, it is not so much as looking good as paying attention to your snowboard clothing and gear to ensure maximum comfort and protection for your body. <bio>For more great articles and advice on Snow Boarding, please visit http://snowboarding.articlebee.net </bio>

The garage is probably the most disorganized part of a house. Cars are not the only things found there. Sometimes the garage can also act as a tool shed. Yes, you read that right. You can find car repair tools, which is not unusual at all, but you can also find paint, hardware items, boxes of old clothing, worn-out golf clubs, and pairs of shoes that have seen better days. In this case, the garage has suddenly been turned into a stockroom.

Don't you know that there will be around 30 to 40 percent more space in your garage that you can use if you only get it organized? I'm not kidding. An organized garage can be very useful in storing a lot of different items, but you will not able to use the space at its maximum capacity if your garage is the epitome of chaos.

Not to worry! Here are five easy ways to achieve an organized garage.

Group Similar Items Together

It is very important to sort out everything in your garage. Group together items of similar kind - sporting equipment, hardware tools, electrical equipment, old clothing, pieces of unused furniture. You will be amazed how at much stuff you have. Once you have finished sorting, only then will you be able to think of the best plan to organize them. When all the items are grouped together, you will actually see how much space you have and how you will be able to utilize such a space. You will also take into account the items that need to be moved to the attic, to the basement, or to your next garage sale.

Create A Space For Seasonal Items

You may install a special rack or cabinet to hold tools and equipment that are only used in particular seasons. Keep all snow shovels, snow blowers and ice scrapers together. You may also include winter sports and recreational equipment such as snowboards, sleds and skis. On the other hand, items used during warm seasons - such as inflatable tools, beach balls, paddles - are supposed to be grouped together in another cabinet. This will help you find the tools a lot easier no matter what the season may be.

Add Shelves And Cabinets

You may also consider mounting new shelves and cabinets onto walls. This is very helpful in maximizing your space. The key is to create a space that can be very accessible for frequently or regularly used items. This will help you access the tools a lot easier. No need to play hide-and-seek every time you are looking for a specific item.

Appoint A Particular Working Area

If you are fond of do-it-yourself projects, you may also like to create a workshop of sorts in your garage. You can install a table and a bench to be used during home improvement or craft projects. This is a great way of utilizing the space in your garage. Having a specific working area will also make frequently used tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and pliers very accessible.

Place Your Recycling Bins Near The Garage

For easier disposal of trash, keep your trash and recycling bins near the garage. This is a very good trick especially if you are the type of person who keeps things because the trash bins are far away. So every time you work on your project, or find anything that you no longer need, it will be very easy to dispose of it as the trash bins are only a few steps away.

These are five ways that will greatly help in keeping an organized garage. Once you have everything sorted out, it is time to contact a handyman to help you install the cabinets and shelves you need so you will have a place for all the stuff you have sorted out. Remember that the first step is to sort your stuff. If you have done the aforementioned steps, you will definitely notice how much junk you need to throw away and how much space you are actually not maximizing. An organized garage will keep you from playing hide-and-seek with all those items that seemed to have been lost or misplaced. <bio>Luke Cameron is owner of Homes Views. - an online magazine offering news, tips and articles on home and garden related topics.
If you're one of the lucky owners of an Isuzu SUV, you should be getting pretty excited about now. Maybe you own one of the high-performing Isuzu Ascenders. Maybe you proudly park the popular Axiom in your garage every night when you come home from work. Maybe you're hanging on to that loved Isuzu Trooper. Regardless of which model you fell in love with, chances are, if you're an Isuzu SUV owner, you're an active, sporty person who likes to have fun. Well, my friend, the time for winter fun is growing close and you'd better be prepared.

You know you want to do it. The soft snowflakes floating serenely down to earth, the sound of snow whooshing with every turn of your skis, the view from the lift on the way back up, the taste of hot coffee in the lodge after a long day=85 In the mood to go skiing or snowboarding yet? We thought so. And Isuzu's got you covered.

Isuzu offers two options for ski accessories for its newest SUV model =96 the Ascender 5-Passenger. The ButtonDown ski mount carries four pairs of skis and features a secure lock with optional SKS cores.

Mounting the ButtonDown requires Cross Bars and MightyMounts, and if you'd like it to carry your snowboards instead, you'll need to purchase the ski lift attachment for under $15. If you'd prefer to hold your skis diagonally, you'll definitely prefer the SkiSlopes mount. Both are convenient and exceptionally easy to use. Like all Isuzu vehicles, the accessories are also warranted as Isuzu stands behind every product they offer.

And getting up to the slopes is no problem in the Ascender. The Ascender 5-Passenger offers Isuzu's Stabilitrack Electronic Stability Control which greatly improves handling in adverse weather conditions.

The system's traction control =96 one of the three main components of Stabilitrak =96 activates as soon as it senses wheel spin (common on snowy roads). Once the wheel or wheels begin to spin, the traction control component will selectively apply the brakes and reduce engine torque. This helps the Ascender regain traction, or contact with the road surface. In addition to traction control, Stabilitrak also combines a stability control system and anti-lock braking system, so that all three work together seamlessly.

If you're already an Isuzu owner, you know that driving an Isuzu is worry-free. With Isuzu's comprehensive 7-year/75,000 mile roadside assistance program, even if you encounter a dead battery on your weekend getaway, Isuzu is only a toll-free number away.

So that leaves just one question. Where should you go skiing? We can help you with that, too. The number one rated skiing in the U.S . is Aspen, Colorado. Vail and Winter Park (also in Colorado) are both in the top ten. Heavenly Ski Resort (located in Lake Tahoe) offers slopes on both the California and Nevada side and has been rated the number 2 best skiing in the U.S. Utah comes in third with Deer Valley Resort (made famous in the 2002 Olympics), and Mount Snow and Killington are both located on the opposite coast in Vermont. With 22 combined Isuzu dealerships in Colorado, California, Nevada, Vermont, and Utah, finding the perfect Isuzu vehicle won't be too difficult. So grab your skis and let's head out. Winter only comes once a year. <bio>Hauling stuff? Isuzu has some great light duty trucks http://www.isuzu.com/i290.jsp coming out in 2008, make sure you check them out. With SUV Prices http://www.isuzu.com/get_a_quote.jsp skyrocketing Isuzu is truely the low priced option. </bio>

While businesses utilize self storage facilities for document archives and secure equipment and inventory storage, the first place most people want to de-clutter and organize is their home. Whether it's for ordinary household items or family heirlooms, a modern self storage facility presents many options for secure storage, letting homeowners and renters reclaim their homes, basements and garages!

Because modern self storage facilities provide a multitude of storage options--including various unit sizes and climate-controlled units--the possibilities for what you can store are abundant. Some of the more common personal uses for self storage units include:

- Transition space: As a mid-point space to store items when moving from one house to another.

- Secured environment: Many people use self storage facilities to keep special family items and/or valuable collections safe.

- Seasonal storage: Whether its holiday decorations, off-season clothing or bulky sports equipment like skis, snowboards and surfboards--seasonal items are ideal for out-of-home storage.

- College students: Rather than packing up and hauling a dorm room full of stuff home (especially out of state) many college students opt to store their items near campus.

- Downsizing options: For many people who downsize after retirement, there simply isn't the necessary space to store all belongings in the home.

These are only some of the many personal reasons you may choose the secure, customizable solution provided by a self-storage facility. From more traditional uses, like storing home items while away, to parents storing Christmas gifts away from the prying hands and nosy eyes of little children, renting a self storage unit can ensure a safe, worry and hassle-free storage solution.

Self-storage units can also be a business asset, allowing secure archival of sensitive business documents. Look for self storage facilities that have fire and water proof construction, thereby ensuring that all your essential papers and files will be out of harm's way. When a pipe bursts or an electrical wire sparks in a traditional office building, the results can be catastrophic, leaving business owners saying, "We lost everything." Using a self storage facility to house your most confidential and important business documents ensures that your property will be safe should a flood, fire or accident occur. Beyond file and record storage, a self storage unit can also house overstocked office furniture, supplies and/or inventory. Self storage spaces come in many sizes, from storage for one file cabinet of documents to a room of desks, chairs and cubicle walls.

Popular reasons a business may choose to use a self storage unit include:

- To store old records and archived files.
- As a place for overstock and unused office furniture.
- During a move to a new office space.
- To keep important tax records, receipts and other vital documents.
- To store confidential or sensitive files that could be compromised if not secured.
- As an alternative to an expensive and inconvenient safe, or lock-box.
- To house seasonal and promotional items.
- And many more...

As you can see, both personal and business uses of a self-storage unit are limited only by your imagination. Self storage facilities have many units of varying sizes that can accommodate your customized requests for storage space. The facility's employees can also find a space that resides within your budget. Self storage is perfect for those who don't want a one-size-fits-all solution, and would prefer a personal and enjoyable experience as they store their belongings.<bio>Mr. Kleindienst is a self storage company executive.
So, you've decided to book the trip of a lifetime: a luxury holiday to South Africa. Any idea what you're going to do out there yet? The terrain, waters and exotic climate make sports in South Africa particularly enjoyable, and there are a number of exotic activities to take part in. Here's my recommended top 5 to you luxury South Africa Holiday makers who don't mind exerting yourself a little...

5. Mountain Biking

Sure, you can go mountain biking just about anywhere, but the outstanding scenery and varied terrain of South Africa means that there are options for experienced bikers wanting a challenge and inexperienced types still getting to grips with gears! If you fall into the former camp, my personal recommendation is to head up to the Tokai Forest Arboretum. The impressive variety of tree species and outstanding views make this one a brilliant trip -- an intense ride right at the heart of South African nature. Of course, you're not limited to set routes, and mountain biking is also a great way of getting from your South African hotel to some of the breathtaking sights the country has to offer.

4. World Famous Bungee Jumping

The idea of bungee jumping will send many fleeing to their South African hotel I'm sure, but it's bound to appeal to some, and the country is home to the world's highest commercial bungee jump in the world. Bloukrans Bridge is a massive 216 metres, meaning only the serious thrill seekers need apply! Those that like the sound taking in this extreme sport in South Africa, but don't want to head straight to the deep end should consider Gouritz River Bridge or Kings Kloof Bridge as beginner's points.

3. Sensational Surfing

The sunny weather and ideal conditions make surfing one of the more popular sports in South Africa. Those who have never done it before can easily find local lessons to change them from complete beginners to surfing experts in a matter of days, and the dream environment means that you may never get a better chance than when you're taking a luxury holiday in South Africa. If you want to make this a key part of your trip, you're best served with a South African hotel near the waves at Blouberg, Long Beach, Cool Bay or Big Bay.

2. Sandboarding... Like Snowboarding, but with Sand!

This one is something that's harder to do at home! Sandboarding is a new extreme sport to hit South Africa, and is simply snowboarding, but with sand instead of snow! Indeed, the boards used are modified snowboards, meaning that if you've previously done that extreme sport, South Africa's answer will be second nature! If you are completely new to it, though the country has a number of places you can learn, and in no time you'll be hopping, jumping and falling like a pro! The thrills sandboarders can find on the higher dunes are simply second to none -- you can't beat this extreme sport in South Africa for incomparable adrenalin bursts...

1. Tandem Paragliding -- The Best Views in South Africa

But for the camaraderie, outstanding views and unforgettable experience, tandem paragliding is my recommended sport in South Africa. It's seen tremendous growth in the country since the late 80s, and now has more than 1200 flying sites and 900 registered pilots throughout the country! With two harnesses and a large glider, tandem paragliding is perfect for those who want to share the wonders of the South African skyline with others. With views you'll never forget and an unmatched sensation of the wind in your hair, tandem paragliding is something every sporty type should try on a luxury holiday in South Africa.

So if you were short of inspiration before, you should have plenty of ideas of activities for your luxury holiday in South Africa now! Start counting the days and consider which activity you want to tackle first...<bio>Sally Rushbrooke is a South Africa expert for key2holidays, an online tour operator specialising in luxury holidays in South Africa, as well as holidays in Australia, Cuba, the Caribbean, Europe, the Far East, the Maldives, Mauritius and the Seychelles, Egypt and Southern Africa.
