Before you buy another 24-pack of bottled water, consider this statement about how many barrels of oil it takes to make plastic water bottles: "It takes 1.5 million barrels a year just to make the plastic water bottles Americans use, according to the Earth Policy Institute in Washington, plus countless barrels to transport it from as far as Fiji and refrigerate it."

This appeared in the article, "Water, Water Everywhere, but Guilt by the Bottleful," in The New York Times, on Aug. 13 2007, by Alex Williams.

Resisting buying bottled water may be difficult for many people. Bottled water is cold, easy to store in a refrigerator and simple to transport. When people neglect to recycle bottled water, however, the bottles become a liability rather than a luxury.

According to the Container Recycling Institute as stated on refillnotlandfill.org, "8 out of 10 plastic water bottles used in the United States become garbage or end up in a landfill."

There are alternatives, however, for bottled water. One such alternative are Nalgene bottles.

Polycarbonate Nalgene bottles are perfect for storing water at the office, gym, outdoors or home. The water drinker may carry the burden of re-filling the Nalgene bottle on his or her own, but a Nalgene bottle is practical, and at this point, an almost necessary alternative to bottled water.

According to Nalgene-Outdoor.com's about page, Nalgene bottles have been around since 1949. Originally, however, Nalgene bottles only came in the form of scientific lab equipment.

Over the years, the Nalge Company began to create larger Nalgene bottles. Now, Nalgene bottles can be seen almost anywhere.

Nalgene bottles are beneficial for more than their reusability. According to Absorbent, Ink.'s Nalgene bottle product page, Nalgene bottles are virtually indestructible, lightweight and are constructed from high-grade polycarbonate to insure no strange odors or flavors spoil the taste of the Nalgene bottle's contents. This smell or taste transfer often occurs with traditional plastic water bottles.

Nalgene bottles may contain and protect your beverage more efficiently, but the company who produces the bottles has added an extra incentive with using the Nalgene bottle.

Nalgene has started a program called Refill not Landfill: A campaign to reduce disposable water bottle waste. The program states that if you purchase the limited edition Refill Not Landfill Nalgene bottle, your "proceeds will go to Native Energy, supporting their mission to help build Native American, farmer-owned, community based renewable energy projects that create social, economic, and environmental benefits."

A Nalgene bottle is a great way to make sure you are never without water. Nalgene bottle's strong construction allows them to be transported easily. Nalgene bottles and the Nalge Company have also done its part in helping reduce the waste produced through throwing away plastic water bottles. Perhaps it is time to purchase Nalgene bottles for your company to help reduce the waste bottled water creates daily. <bio>Abbie Stutzer is a graduate student in the School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. She is currently working in the marketing department at Absorbent, Ink. (http://www.AbsorbentPrinting.com) </bio>

Drinking water bottles are ubiquitous in the U.S. =96 and in many other developed countries as well. Children carry drinking water bottles to school. Parents carry drinking water bottles as they commute to work, children's soccer games, etc. Some people have begun carrying drinking water bottles to church with them. Athletes always seem to have a drinking water bottle with them.

Convenience

A major reason for using drinking water bottles is the convenience they offer. Water can be taken almost anywhere. Drinking water bottles involve little cost, and their loss is not a problem. When they are empty, they need not be carried home. They can simply be placed in a recycle bin or other waste disposal.

What happens, though, when drinking water bottles are not recycled?

The Danger

Disposing of drinking water bottles is the best idea, but many people refill them. If they empty the bottle while jogging, they stop and refill it at a water fountain. If they have a filter at home, they refill drinking water bottles from the filter. At work, they may refill a drinking water bottle from the water cooler. Each time, they may be putting healthy drinking water into the bottle, but is this a safe practice? Or is there danger in refilling disposable drinking water bottles?

The danger is not, as claimed by an old internet urban legend, that the bottles will break down into carcinogenic compounds. That plastic scare originated with the master's thesis of an undergraduate student who did not conduct sufficient scientific study before publishing his thesis. USFDA standards control the type of plastic used for bottled water.

Can plastic drinking water bottles break down? Can plastic leach into the water when you refill them? Possibly. It is said that some bottles, even those approved by the USFDA, do indeed leach into water =96 even before you open the bottle.

Bacteria

Although your plastic drinking water bottles may not break down into cancer-causing compounds, and may not leach plastic into your water, they do contain bacteria. Bacteria can grow and reproduce rapidly in an empty plastic drinking water bottle.

Consider this. Each time you take a drink from that drinking water bottle, you deposit bacteria from your mouth on the rim of the bottle. If you refill the bottle without washing it, you simply flush the bacteria into your water. The problem is compounded if the bottle is empty for a while, and allowed to get warm. Bacteria then have an ideal environment for reproduction.

But They Are MY Bugs

Many (not all) of the bacteria are indeed from your mouth. However, in your system, your body regulates them at reasonable levels. Bacteria in the drinking water bottle are no longer regulated. They can reproduce rapidly. In addition, other germs will enter the bottle from the air, mingling with those from your mouth.

Washing Helps

Washing the bottle thoroughly will destroy most of the bacteria. The bottle must be washed after each use, before refilling. You must wash the neck of the bottle and the entire inside. This means you cannot stop for a refill at the drinking fountain in the park. You cannot refill it at the water cooler and take it back to your desk. The only way to have healthy drinking water is to use drinking water bottles only once, or wash them thoroughly before refilling.

Since very hot water is the best way to get the bottle clean, a dishwasher is recommended. You will have to place the bottle on the top rack, since the plastic is not designed for high temperature. When the wash cycle ends, remove your drinking water bottle immediately before the dry cycle can begin.

FREEZE OUT

Finally, when you take the clean drinking water bottle from your dishwasher, place it into the freezer immediately. This will keep germs from getting into the bottle. It will also keep mold from forming. When you are ready to use it, take the clean drinking water bottle from the freezer, fill, and cap.

Disposable plastic drinking water bottles are convenient, but don't sacrifice your health. <bio>=A92007, Anna Hart.
Since gradeschool, we have been drilled that using plastic is bad for our health and the environment. Every major environmental group has condemned the use of plastics, plastic bags, plastic containers, plastic bottles, and other plastic materials at least once. Despite their warnings, plastics are still used and manufactured up to this day. Isn't it interesting that despite their bad-for-the-environment reputation, the plastic industry is still flourishing? There must be something that those environmentalists aren't telling us.

Anna Peterson, an environmental ethics professor at Florida's state university insists that plastics end up disposed in landfills, lakes, streams, and on roadsides where some curious critter might wander. A racoon, for instance, overwhelmed by the scent of nacho chips inside a plastic bag, might not be able to resist eating even the bag. Wildlife could choke and be poisoned by these, plus, these plastic bags can clog water systems, which can cause pollution. Another hazard posed by environmentalists is the potentially dangerous nature of plastic medical equipment. These can caused epidemics and the spread of diseases if not disposed of properly. Contact with these medical hazards could prove fatal especially if these are used on patients with contagious diseases.

But plastic manufacturers beg to differ, saying that "proper disposal" is the operative term. Otherwise, if disposed properly, these plastic bags, plastic containers, plastic bottles, and plastic materials are not a danger to the environment as much as papers are. They even asserted that over time, plastic materials are more beneficial to the environment than papers. Though paper materials are easily recyclable, they weigh ten times more than plastic and that make them heavier. Robert Bateman, a plastic manufacturer, affirms that papers use up and waste more energy during processing than plastic. In addition, plastic processing leave less waste than paper manufacturing. Profit-wise, it is cheaper to manufacture plastic than paper. Overall, plastic is the more practical choice because it cost less to make with plastic injection molds, leaves less waste, and uses less power. This is a fact usually obscured by the environmentalists.

>From this vantage point, it seems to be tie between paper and plastic, but which is truly better for the environment? Garbage expert, Bill Rathje provides the answer to this dilemma. According to him, paper does not break down faster any more than plastic can in an average well-operated landfill even if they reach forty years. Since paper is bulkier, it takes more landfill area. Paper can aggravate the lack of landfill space. He says that taking the same amount and weight of both plastic and paper, plastic can fit comfortably in one truckload while it will take seven trucks to fit in the same amount of paper. What's more, wildlife-eating plastics are very rare, and in most cases, are purely anecdotal. In these perspectives, it's better to use plastics, plastic bags, plastic containers, plastic bottles, and other plastic materials rather than paper. Just remember to dispose of them properly so no poor animal will have to deal with a plastic stuck in its throat. <bio>For more valuable information on plastics, please visit http://www.plastic-supplies.com </bio>

Normally a wedding invitation is regarded as an invitation card, which is a printed material. And designers are usually working at the graphics on the card. However, there is a possibility that we treat the wedding invitation as a three dimensional product so that it will no longer be a flat sheet of paper.

On of the ideas of this kind of three dimensional wedding invitation is a glass bottle invitation. This notion of glass bottle in fact perfectly fits a beach wedding theme. You can put some sand from the beach you are going to hold your wedding into the bottle. Other ingredients such as small shells can also be used to decorate your glass bottle invitation. In this case you will only need to print a simple piece of paper containing the details of your wedding. This piece of information paper should not be a fancy one otherwise it may overwhelm the power of the glass bottle, in terms of design.

Another interesting application of the idea of glass bottle invitation is that you can express every detail in your lives using the bottle. For example, if you are going to invite 300 guests. You can start collecting bottles 300 days before you send the wedding invitation. In a morning you keep the glass bottle of milk for your breakfast. The other day you may keep another bottle when you finish a bottle of red wine.

After you have collected all these bottles, you can print the information of your wedding on pieces of elegant paper and put them in the bottles. Every guest will be receiving a different bottle. And each bottle signifies your lives within these 300 days before your wedding.

If you are going to adapt this idea of glass bottle wedding invitation, you have to think of some practical issues. Firstly a glass bottle can be a lot heavier than a normal invitation card, this may make the postage cost higher than you expect. You should ask for the rates of postage well before you make the decision.

Besides, there is no doubt that glass products are something that can be easily broken. You will need to pay extra attention to the package of the invitation before mailing them out. It will be a pity if any of your guests receive some broken bottles. Of course there will be less problematic if you are going to send the invitations to most of your guests personally but that will certainly take you some time and money to do that.

If you would like to ease the problem of broken glass bottles, you may also consider using plastic bottle as substitutes. Some companies offer such bottles with a lower price than glass bottles. You can certainly save some money by using plastic bottles. It is on one hand cheaper than glass bottles and on the other hand lighter so that the cost of postage will be lower. However, if budget is not a problem to you, I will still suggest you to use glass bottles since the texture of a glass bottle is a lot different from a plastic one. <bio>TM Lung is a wedding invitation designer.
The average American uses 170 plastic water bottles in one year totaling 50 billion plastic bottles a year. In fact, Americans spend more than $15 billion on bottles water every year and most of these bottles never get recycled. Our responsibility to make a positive difference in our environment is evident as our population and demand on natural resources grow.

Waste management has become a large problem in the world with landfills growing to immense sizes while recycling rates remain low. Add to that the energy that is required to manufacture and transport the sheer number of plastic bottles produced each year to market severely drains limited fossil fuels and presents a significant strain on the environment. The production of plastic bottles produces many byproducts that are extremely harmful to the environment. The most common plastic used in water bottle manufacturing is PET (polyethylene terephthalate), a substance that is environmentally unfriendly. Producing bottled water also requires 17.5 kilograms of water to produce only 1 kilogram of PET thus more water is used making a PET bottle than is actually put into it. The bottled water trade group reported that 11.7 billion water bottles were sold in the U.S. in 2007 and only 10 percent were recycled making 90 percent of bottles ending up in the trash. That is an extra 12.6 billion plastic bottles ending up in the landfills with water that is not healthier than the average tap water.

Bottled water is much less regulated than tapped water. In fact, bottled water companies, because they are not under the same accountability standards as municipal water systems, may provide a significantly lower quality of water than the water from a tap. Bottled water is one of the least regulated industries and is usually held to less-stringent standards than ordinary tap water. Since tap water is a public resource the quality and content must be made public to the consumer. Bottled water has no such regulations and is regulated more like a soft drink than a public resource. The truth is that often bottled water is little more than tap water in a bottle. The Federal regulations that govern the quality of bottled water only apply if it is transported across state lines, and then they only require it to be as good as tap water. Most bottled water is bottled and sold within the same state to avoid Federal purity standards therefore there are no assurances or requirements that bottled water is any safer or better than tap water.

Not only is there a high price to pay on the environment those cost impact the public as well. In the year 2007, Americans alone spent more than $8 billion on bottled water at an average cost of more than $1 a bottle-representing $11 billion in sales. For some people who do not like the taste of tap water the most recent and innovative solution to the problem of bottled water is the purchase of water filters.
One of the most popular items in the country is a simple bottle of water. There are two kinds of water bottles: the kind that people pick up in convenience stores and later throw away, or the kind that people carry with them, perhaps for walking, jogging, or biking, and continue to wash and refill. Both of these kinds of water bottles continue to grow in popularity as medical and weight loss studies continue to show that drinking large amounts of water is necessary for good health and maintaining a healthy weight. In addition, water is free; if you have a bottle to fill, you can stop at any water fountain and fill it up, without having to spend the money on a soda or other beverage.

This popularity makes water bottles a great promotional item. There are two kinds of bottles that your company can put in people's hands: the disposable kind and the reusable kind.

Disposable Water Bottles

There are two qualities that set apart the disposable water bottle: one is that it is filled with spring water, not tap water or water from any other source. That is a big selling point for people who are concerned with the quality of their water, and indeed one of the major reasons people buy water in stores or gas stations. The other quality is that these water bottles are disposable. It is true that many people save their disposable water bottles and fill them again and again--all the better for your business since your logo will go with them wherever the bottle goes--but the disposability of these bottles adds to their convenience for travel, picnics, and other events where people don't want to carry trash or supplies with them when they're done.

These disposable water bottles can be bought by the case for very little money and distributed in almost any situation. Bottles with your label on them, rather than some other brand, can be in the hands of hundreds of people at parades, open houses, trade shows, fairs, sporting events, or other events where people gather. People need water, especially during outdoor events, and even if they throw them away, they will remember whose bottle they held in their hands.

Reusable Water Bottles

Reusable water bottles are made of durable plastic with a squirt top or a plastic straw at the top. Because they are plastic, they can come in almost any color imaginable, which makes it easy to print your company's logo in your company's colors on the bottle. They are also extremely inexpensive, and can be handed out by the hundreds at fairs, trade shows, or other occasions when your representatives will meet many people. They make excellent prizes in contests or items in gift bags for new or potential customers. The best thing about them is that people will take your bottles everywhere--walking, driving, biking, at home or at work. As they get a drink and take care of their health, your brand will be in their hands.<bio>Miles Lovegrove is director of Fluid Branding, the UK's largest supplier of Promotional Water and other Promotional Products at www.fluidbranding.com.
Renegade Water Secrets with Mike Adams, founder of naturalnews.com.

Kevin: Well, Mike, I want to welcome you to this call.

Mike: Hey, Kevin.. It's great to be here. Thanks for having me join this program.

Kevin: It's an absolute honor and there are probably a few people who don't know who you are, or maybe haven't heard of some of the stuff that you've done before. So why don't we give everyone just a brief introduction and then we'll move right into the water aspect. We have a lot of stuff to cover today.

Mike: Okay, sure. Well, I'm the founder and editor of naturalnews.com. It's a website to reaches now well over a million readers a month with news, headlines, alerts, warnings about everything to do with natural health and the benefits of natural medicine and the potential dangers of pharmaceuticals and conventional medicine. It's just a great informational resource. I love doing that.

Kevin: If anyone hasn't gone over there to naturalnews.com you'll find a whole bunch of great stuff and it's nice to read some of it, because it's very refreshing. That's what I found.

Mike: We can pull our punches. We tell it like it is and I try to maintain a lot of informed skepticism about what I'm writing about, so I'm always doing independent product reviews and things like that to the readers.

Kevin: We're going to talk a little bit about skepticism, because we've already prepped for this call, but what I want to start with is, since we're talking about water I want about talk about something is so prevalent in our media now and probably will be for a while and it's the use of plastic as applied to water. So water bottles, even in cooking or microwaving plastic containers and all that, let's talk about some of the things that we should be concerned about when we're dealing with plastic bottles.

Mike: Well, I think people are very well aware of the Bisphenol A danger, BPA as it's called. There has been a lot of press recently about this chemical in plastic bottles and baby bottles. Did you hear that, I think it was Toys "R" Us is going to stop selling baby bottles made with that chemical now?

Kevin: Wow.

Mike: That was an interesting development, but like a lot of stories in the press it's very hard to put into context. I think people need to be aware of the proper context for this potential risk. Yes, these plastic bottles contain BPA. Yes, if you drink water that's vigorously shaken in these bottles, which it all is done during shipping, by the way and you do that for 10 or 20 years, then sure, it probably increases your risk for cancer, but I want to make people aware that drinking a can of soda is far more toxic, probably orders of magnitude more toxic to your body than drinking a bottle of water from a plastic bottle. Eating food that was cooked in Teflon, in my view, is orders of magnitude more toxic than drinking something of a plastic bottle or eating hydrogenated oils or fried foods or things like that or smoking a cigarette. You could probably drink a thousand bottles of water that were from plastic bottles and it would be less toxic to you than smoking one cigarette. So you've got to put this into perspective. I drink out of plastic bottles from time to time. It's not my first choice, but I do it when I'm traveling and I don't freak out about it.

Kevin: Yeah. I know that the number seven bottle has come under fire recently. Is that the only one to be somewhat concerned about, or is it across the board?

Mike: No. It's across the board.

Kevin: Okay..

Mike: As I understand it, the lower the number the more toxic the bottles can be. You don't want to drink of the really cheap bottles, which are often number two or number three. The seven is better than the lower numbers and you certainly don't want to be feeding your baby -- really, if there's one area to be legitimately concerned, it's with infants and children, but as an adult if you are taking a lot of anticancer nutrients and you're eating sprouts and you're taking some super foods, you're exercising and getting vitamin D, then the occasional drink out of a plastic bottle is nothing to be alarmed about.

Kevin: What about alternatives, like the stainless steel water bottles, or say, something like a glass lined thermos?

Mike: I think glass is great to drink out of. That's what I usually do. I even take that to the gym, even though they don't like the fact that I'm carrying around a glass bottle.

Kevin: Right.

Mike: For obvious reasons, but some people are drinking out of aluminum bottles, which I think is crazy. How is aluminum better than plastic? Stainless steel is definitely the better way to go in all of this. When you get stainless steel you want steel that has low nickel content, because there are different types of stainless steel. They're made with chromium and nickel and whatever and they're all alloys. So you want low nickel content, because everything that's in that steel, eventually some of it gets in your body and nickel is not a great nutrient to have in large quantities for sure.

Kevin: Right. Do you know how you would know if it's got low nickel? I guess a hip company would put that out there.

Mike: You can go online and search for the stainless steel number. For example, a lot of stainless steel is number 420 or something. The 420 means that it has a certain percentage, I think like 5% nickel and 13% chromium or something like that. I don't know the exact numbers, but I know you can find it. So find out the stainless steel number. Like stainless steel number 380 or 420 or something like that.<bio>Kevin Gianni the host of "Renegade Health Show" a fun and informative daily health show that is changing the perception of health across the world.
Have you ever known anyone that collects wine bottles? While there are many beautifully shaped and colorful wine bottles, there does not seem to be many uses for them once the alcohol is consumed. People have been known to use the wine bottles as candle holders; the candle wax melting down the sides of the bottles make for a very unique indoor decoration. Often people just collect the bottles and add them to their shelves. In this case the bottles are more like dust collectors.

One great idea for empty wine bottles is to use them to create an outdoor garden fountain. Not only will you be creating an uplifting and almost spiritual design, but also you will be helping Mother Earth by recycling what otherwise would be a dumpster contribution. For more information on garden fountains visit http://www.garden-fountains.com/garden-info/water-and-fountains-1.html.

The Basics

In order to create a wine bottle garden fountain you must first decide on where you want to dig the hole that will accommodate a minimum of 18 bottles, a spray fountainhead, water pump, a sump, rocks, bricks and some pavers. All of your materials are going to be submerged.

The wine bottles will be turned upside down so that the bottoms are at the top. You want to find traditional wine bottles in a variety of colors, as their bottoms are concave. The dipped bottoms catch the water as it sprays from the fountainhead and create magical, tiny, colorful pools. The reflection from the tiny pools that this creates in the sunlight is spectacular and inspiring.

Your water fountain will be circular as the bottles dictate an automatic circle design when put together. Start with a six-bottle core and then each ring after that will double your need for wine bottles (i.e.: six for the core, 12 for the second ring and if you desire a larger garden fountain you will need 24 bottles for the third ring). The first six bottles will be strapped around the rainwater pipe held together with waterproof tape. Be careful when handling the bottles, as the sheer weight of them will make them difficult to carry. Use goggles or protective eyewear when working with glass. For other water fountain ideas and inspirations go to http://www.garden-fountains.com/fountain-selection-guide-visual.html.

Basically, you want to cover the hole with plastic sheeting to ensure proper drainage. You will then fill the plastic lined hole with bricks to hold the bottles in place, the submersible water pump, armored piping to channel the wiring under the lawn or pavers and small cobblestones and gravel to arrange around the bottles, serving as more support. The spray nozzle fountainhead will obviously rise above in the center. After you arrange some larger, decorative rocks atop the fountain to hide all the hardware, you will finally add the pavers to hold everything in place and hide the plastic sheeting.

You will want to consult with a home and garden center expert if you have any questions about the specifics on setting up your wine bottle garden fountain. You may also do some research online for specific instructions as well as thumb through any fountain project literature.

Delightful Sight

Indeed, the combination of colorful wine bottles, decorative, smooth, river rock and cement pavers is a magical sight. Wine bottle garden water fountains lend themselves well to many different themed gardens. It is a definitely conversational piece as you can talk about how you were able to collect each wine bottle and how you are proud of your recycling efforts. Wine bottle spray water fountains are beautiful and eco-friendly.
For a very long time, cork was the preferred method to seal a bottle of wine. There has been much debate over the past few years as to what the best method is for sealing off a bottle, cork, plastic cork or screw caps.

Current estimates predict that roughly 6 percent of all wine bottled with a traditional cork will fall victim to TCA (2,4,6-Trichloroanisole), a bacteria that thrives in cork. Some of you might have even had a spoilt bottle of wine and not really noticed it. Even a very small amount of TCA in a bottle of wine can ruin it. Most become aware of TCA in quantities as small as 5 parts per trillion. When TCA is present in quantities high enough to be evident to a person, it comes across as 'musty' aromas and flavors. TCA in wine is not toxic, but the taste and aromas can be quite unsettling.

Another issue that seems to have people leaning away from traditional cork is the fact that cork can dry out and allow air to oxidize a bottle of wine. This can happen if a bottle is not stored correctly. Storing a bottle of wine on its side helps a cork remain moist and a moist cork expands better to seal the inside of the bottle. A dry cork shrinks allowing air to enter spoiling the wine.

Plastic corks have been created to help combat the problems being seen with real cork. Plastic does eliminate the problem of TCA, but plastic corks can have leaky seals which cause oxidation. Personally I have never had a problem with a leaky plastic cork, but it does happen. Another problem with plastic is that they can be very difficult to remove from a bottle compared to cork. Though this is not as detrimental as having a bottle of wine ruined with TCA, it can be very frustrating if you were looking forward to a lovely glass of Chardonnay and the plastic cork won't budge.

In an almost last ditch attempt at preventing wine from spoiling, some wine makers have resorted to screw caps for their bottles of wine. Not nearly as romantic as the popping sound a corked bottle makes, screw caps nonetheless are very effective in preventing wine from spoiling. Most Australian wines are no longer made with cork and have opted for this screw cap method because it's better at maintaining the taste of wine in the way the wine maker intended.

Screw cap bottles of wine are becoming more and more popular, and yes, while they are not as aesthetically pleasing and continue to hold the connotation of a cheap bottle of wine, a greater number of higher quality wines are opting for the screw cap to prevent spoilage. So the next time you are served a bottle of wine with a screw cap, think twice before brushing it off as a cheap wine. <bio>Ken Finnigan is the CEO of http://www.finestwineracks.com a website specializing in quality decorative wine racks and durable wine storage systems. </bio>

If you have a new business then more than likely you have a product that you are selling. If this is the case then you will need plastic bags to put the product in for the customer to take with them. What better way to get a little advertisement than with customized plastic bags? These plastic bags can go places you might never have even thought to advertize in.

Who will see my customized plastic bags?

When your customer leaves your store or business anywhere the customer goes with your customized plastic bags people will see it. So think about the possibilities of the amount of advertisement you could get from just one customized plastic bags. Say your customer leaves your store and heads to another store down the street. They will pass a few people just on the way to the next store, they will also see a few people in the store who will in turn see your customized plastic bags. Then the customer gets on a public bus or subway where there will be anywhere from a few people to several people. Just from this little bit of time, you have likely reached at least 20 people if not a lot more just from one sale that left your business in customized plastic bags. That is a lot of advertisement for a very minimal investment.

How much will these customized plastic bags cost?

Depending on where you order your customized plastic bags and the amount you order you can usually get them at a very low cost. For larger orders of customized plastic bags you can expect to pay about .18-.20 per bag. For smaller orders of customized plastic bags you will likely pay about .22-.28 per bag. The cost of your customized plastic bags will of course depend on the amount of customization you desire, the color of the customized plastic bags, the size of the bag and how quickly you want them shipped.

Will customized plastic bags be good for my small business?

Customized plastic bags are a great way to reach many people for a very small investment. Many small businesses start out with a very minimal amount of funds that are available to use for advertisement. Plastic bags are something that a small business is going to need anyways if they have products they are selling. So that makes customized plastic bags the most sensible form of advertisement since they will only cost slightly more than plain plastic bags and give you a better return on your investment.

Any business no matter the size will benefit from customized plastic bags as one of their forms of advertisement. You can reach many people for such a small investment that any business would be crazy to waste their money on plain bags when for just a few cents more they can have customized plastic bags that will help their business to get notices and grow. Your new business deserves the best and with customized plastic bags you will become the best!<bio>Matt Franks is director of Fluid Branding, the UK's largest supplier of Promotional Plastic Bags and other Promotional Products at www.fluidbranding.com.
Bottled water delivery service is an important part of the bottled water industry. For homes and offices it is a convenient way to receive cost effective, high quality drinking water on a regular basis.

Studies have shown that use of purified water in the workplace increases productivity and improves the overall health of the workforce.

An essential part of any bottled water delivery service is the actual bottle itself. The bottle is the water vessel that sits atop the water cooler and most bottles are the 5 gallon variety often with the name of the water service provider on the side.

But not all 5 gallon bottles are the same. The world of 5 gallon bottles can be divided into two categories: old style and new style.

Old style bottles are basic bottles used by many of the larger, older bottled water delivery service providers. They tend to be cumbersome and hard to handle and often result in messy and dangerous water spills when they are installed on the water cooler. Some service providers put paper labels on the side which are very unsightly.

New style 5 gallon bottles on the other hand are designed to be ergonomically and user friendly. They have carrying handles that make installation safe and easy and many use spill proof caps that are neat and clean thereby avoiding the messy spills that are found with old style bottles. Spill proof caps also allow bottles to be easily transferred from one cooler to another and are popular in large office environments.

Many of the new style bottles are silk screened with the name and logo of the service provider and are attractive as well as unobtrusive. They work equally well in both home and office environments. Silk screening avoids the shabby Impression that paper labels often show.

One problem that older, larger bottled water delivery companies have is that it is difficult to transition from the old style bottles to the new style bottle. This is because older companies have a significant investment in the installed base of old style bottles and it would be very costly to adopt new style bottles.

Finally, new style bottles cost no more to the consumer than old style bottles but are easier to use, safer and more attractive than old style bottles.

When choosing a bottled water delivery service provide determine whether they use old style or new style bottles. New style will deliver more value to you, the customer. <bio>Marcus Stout is President of Element H2O.
Ginger beer has a completely different recipe than regular beer, its completely non alcoholic and easy to make, the confusion that people have probably lays in the term beer, its just a common mistake. Ginger beer may be mixed with beer (usually a British ale of some sort) to make one type of shandy. Anyone can make this ginger beer recipe and everyone can drink it, even children.

The process involved of making home made ginger beer is quite simple and quick, it is a lot of fun to make even with your (grand)children. really anyone can make this refreshing recipe. There are a lot of ginger beer recipes you can find online but the one we will give you is especially popular

What do you need for your own Home Made Ginger Beer

Ingredients and Tools:

When you plan to make your own home made ginger beer you need the proper tools and ingredients. For our ginger beer recipe you will need eight pint (plastic) bottles or four quart (plastic) bottles, and bowls where you can make the mixture in.

Basic Ginger Beer Recipe

For this most basic home made ginger beer recipe, the required ingredients are as follows:

- 2 oz. fresh ginger - 1 tsp. cream of tartar - 2 lemons - 1 lb. sugar - 1 oz. yeast. - 1 gallon boiling water

The preparation is easy, You need to wash the lemons and slice them in thick rings, after that the ginger root should be roughly crushed. Mix the ginger, lemon, sugar and cream of tartar in a large bowl.

Pour the boiling water over the top, stir the mixture and let it cool to lukewarm temperature. After that you need to stir in the yeast. You'll need to leave it for 24-48 hours to let the yeast go to work. Once the plastic bottle is very hard, and can't be squeezed, the ginger beer is done. At that time you need to skim off the yeast and the mixture strained. After that your ginger beer can be bottled. Place the bottle in the fridge overnight. This halts the yeast and stops the bottle exploding. Once the ginger beer is chilled, pour it into a glass and enjoy. When you just follow this simple ginger beer recipe you can't go wrong.

Exploding bottles

Because of the yeast, ginger beer can be a very aggressive fermenter, it produces high pressure very rapidly. So it is better not to bottle ginger beer in glass bottles. You also should not leave the finished ginger beer in a closed up warm place, because this can result in generating enough pressure to explode the lid of.

This is just one, although very popular, recipe for ginger beer. On the internet or at your favorite brewing supply store you can find many more.

Have fun in making this delicious Ginger Beer recipe, and enjoy making it together with your children or grandchildren. Together you can make little changes to make it your personal Ginger Beer recipe. <bio>Drew Brown has one hobby and he loves to share it with the world.
Wine racks come in all sizes. If you do an internet search for wine rack you'll find sites that have custom designed wine cellars to hold hundreds of bottles under perfect climactic conditions to sites that have decorative countertop wrought iron wine racks that hold 4 to 6 bottles, the choices are endless.

Those who teach about wine storage teach about the importance of temperature, humidity, ventilation, and the angle of storage. Some even preach that care should be taken to make sure there is no vibration to work up the sediment from the bottom of the bottle. A little too much for me.

If you're like me, you only have a handful of wine bottles at any time, maybe 4 or 5. In keeping with the fundamental basic of never letting a cork dry out, I've got the bottles rolling around on their sides in a cabinet in the kitchen. This has been OK for my 4 or 5 bottles, not one of which cost me over $25.00. But now it's time for me to step up and find a wine rack.

Most true wine connoisseur's, those who spend their time researching the best year for a particular grape, who know the best growing regions and grape varietals, those who know how the wine is aged, those who spend anywhere from $50.00 and up for a bottle, who may buy a case of wine at a time, those people require more sophisticated wine storage.

All I want a wine rack that will hold a few bottles, out of the way that will look nice and enhance the style of my kitchen. There are many styles to choose from. There are some shelving wine rack units that come in a variety of finishes that will hold up to 150 bottles, too big. There is the 12 bottle wine rack with a very industrial look of wire and wood, not my style. There are some lovely wrought iron wine racks. A lovely set that are actually bookends that each hold three bottles, great to use if I had a library. How about a wrought iron cabinet with a lovely leaf design that holds up to 33 bottles? Or, a wrought iron hanging rack that holds up to eight bottles and eight wine glasses.... now we're getting close.

You may be amazed at the number of different wine racks you can find that will enhance the style of your home. <bio>To learn more about http://www.wine-rack-design.info please visit http://www.wine-rack-solution.info </bio>

In the process of manufacturing Champagne, riddling racks are a must have. Once the sparkling wine has began to age on the less, it will be time for the concluding stages. Riddling is essential to the life of Champagne as it collects the sediment in bottles and deposits it near the bottle's mouth. This sediment is what helps to bring the bubbles bursting out when you pop the cork http://www.barracudaspam.org

Champagne bottles are put on riddling racks at a 45 degree angle, comprising the two rectangular boards that have been hinged at the top of the rack. On each side of the rack, there are ten rows that contain six holes for the necks of the bottles. Due to their structure and shape, each riddling rack is capable of holding 120 bottles, although there are special models that are made to hold more.

The riddler, who places the bottles, will place a bottle neck into each one of the holes on the riddling racks. There are painted lines at the bottom of each bottle, which acts as a marker for placing the bottles. All markers point in the same direction, which makes it easy for the riddler to put the bottles on the racks.

Over the course of several weeks, the riddler will twist each bottle a few degrees. By doing this every day, the riddler will prevent the sediment from settling in one place. Once a few weeks have gone by, the riddler will slant the bottles to a 60 degree angle and ensure that each and every bottle on the riddling rack is neck down in the proper hole.

Once the riddling process is complete, the Champagne bottles will be placed in a freezer for a brief period of time. After an ice plug has formed along the necks of the bottles, they will be placed on a conveyer belt and taken down the line to a disgorging machine that will remove the crown caps from each one of the bottles. Once the crown caps are removed, the pressure is in place. The pressure that is well known with Champagne bottles is from the bottle shooting out the ice plug, or the frozen sediment that is trapped in the bottle.

For the home collector, Champagne racks are also important. There are other factors involved with riddling racks, such as temperature and location of the racks. With manufacturers however; everything simply must be perfect. Champagne is a very popular wine throughout the world, ideal for celebrations and special events. Riddling racks are essential to the process, including the infamous bursting bubbles. Champagne that doesn't feature the infamous bursting bubbles isn't really a tradition - and certainly wouldn't be worth the investment. <bio>http://www.autoinsuranceprogressivequote.org </bio>

A recent study released by the Journal of the American Medical Association raises a concern about the chemical bisphenol-A, (BPA) in plastic bottles, metal cans and various food packaging, as well as in all those eco-friendly reusable water bottles we're all carrying around.

Based on a health survey, the study found that those who had higher amounts of BPA in their urine were more likely to report having heart disease and diabetes. Of course the research presents no information that says the BPA caused these conditions, and the study authors agree that you can't rule out the possibility that people who already have heart disease or diabetes are more vulnerable to having BPA show up in their samples.

True to form, NBC's Today Show aired a report earlier this year that glossed over the facts and highlighted a fearful danger - needlessly worrying millions of us who've fed our children from clear plastic baby bottles and sippy cups, who've tried not to add to the world's pollution by switching to re-useable water bottles.

The story had us turning over our plastic containers in search of numbers (resin ID codes #3, #6 and #7) that it turns out, don't have anything to do with a product being made from BPA, the chemical bad guy of the piece.

The "Consumer Alert" (inaccurately) said:

- There is no safe level of BPA, when in fact the chemical has been studied for many years and found to be safe, especially considering that the levels we ingest are thousands of times lower than the rats that have been studied.

- Plastics containing BPA aren't safe in the microwave, yet a Dutch study that focused on BPA migration after microwaving found no evidence of any such thing.

- Codes on the bottom of a container can tell you if it's safe. Wrong! These resin ID codes are intended to aid in recycling facilities, and have nothing to do with identifying bottles that have BPA. Any item intended to be used for food must pass tough FDA guidelines before its ever allowed on the market.

All this flies in the face of 40 years of science, according to a statement released by the American Chemistry Council a few days after the Today segment aired. Another thoughtful piece by Gilbert Ross, M.D. of the American Council On Science And Health (who also appeared, very briefly in the report) came out and called the Today report what it is -- junk science.

Not only that, the in-studio guest, Dr. Leo Trasande of Mount Sinai Medical Center was given ample time during the six minute long segment to convey his message, while Dr. Ross had only 6 seconds to tell viewers that, "The toxic effects found on rats were done at thousands of times higher than we are exposed to in the environment."

Not so "fair and balanced" now is it?

The media mis-information comes as the result of a report by the National Toxicology Program that was a follow up from an expert panel review completed in 2007. Both the expert panel and the NTP reports similarly concluded a low-rate risk, or negligible concern, for adults and some concern for infants and children.

"That is the third-lowest ranking on NTP's five-level scale. Yet the media has mischaracterized the conclusions as suggesting a new direction is being given by NTP about the use of BPA. This is inaccurate," says Sharon Kneiss, vice president of the products division of the American Chemistry Council (ACC).

Until the science is sorted out, there is no way to tell if a bottle you're using is made with BPA. If you're especially concerned, you might want to avoid warming or microwaving food or beverages in plastic containers until more research on the leaking of the chemical can be completed.

In the meantime the FDA is having a second scientific panel give an opinion on the safety of BPA in plastic bottles and other packaging, though the agency has confidence in its own research, more carefully designed and thorough than the human studies that seem to be causing all the concern.<bio>Over 14,000 people have joined Kirsten's popular (and sometimes controversial) Daily Health Bulletin, so why not join them and stay up to date with the latest in BPA plastic bottle safety and general health news daily. While many wonderful fragrances come in interesting and beautiful fragrance bottles, you don't have to leave your perfumes in the perfume bottles they came in. For some the scents that the bottles contain are the real prize but the bottles themselves seduce with their shapes and colors. There is something elegant about a vanity or dresser that is lined with perfume bottles. The perfume bottle appeals to our sense of sight and touch.

There are Very close to twenty-one thousand different perfumes being marketed at any one time, and that means there must be an estimated twenty-one thousand different perfume bottle designs aimed at attracting the consumer's eye. Perfume bottle making is big business, and the leader in the perfume bottle making industry dating back to the nineteenth century is a company called Pochet SA of France.

Reuse Your Favorite Perfume Bottles

Fragrance bottles are essential for keeping the scent for a longer period of time as the perfume can evaporate and needs airtight containers so that the quantity does not reduce when not in use. The best perfume bottles are those made from colored glass or some other opaque material so that the perfume does not get evaporated by sunlight. Lately, porcelain is widely used in making perfume bottles and many shapes are given to it like nuts, balls and eggshells.

Limited edition fragrance bottles are sometimes produced by manufacturers. These bottles are so gorgeous that it is hard to give them up when you have finished with the perfume inside. Don't throw them away, carefully refill them and continue using them. You can find many older novelty fragrance bottles from companies such as Avon and fill them with your favorite perfume. If you browse around an antique store, you might come across a few gorgeous or old fashioned stopper perfume bottles. Wash them out thoroughly and let them dry for a few days before you place your new perfume in these golden oldies. When you purchase an antique bottle or atomizer, always make sure that the stopper is tight so that your perfume won't evaporate from the bottle.

Make New Perfume Bottles

If you desire and you enjoy adventure, consider taking a glass blowing class and making your own perfume bottle from scratch. Working under the supervision of master artists you can make something that is indeed beautiful and unlike anything anyone else will have or have seen.

By taking a trip to your local beauty supply shop or even a glass manufacturer you can find several different looking atomizers and bottles that can be used to store perfume. If you buy a plain bottle, you can decorate it to your own taste by using colored tissue paper to the bottle to create a stained glass look. Try painting the bottle with stained glass paint or even fabric paint for a textured look. You can also glue beads or other decorations to a perfume bottle to make it truly unique.

Collectors have emerged, dedicated to finding and purchasing perfume bottles of every conceivable variety. The International Perfume Bottle Association with thousands of members dedicated to putting perfume bottle enthusiasts in contact with each other so that they can find those designs that are truly unique. <bio>Captivating articles about the products you need and must have.
Ask around and you will know that most women have a huge collection of perfumes and fragrances. They have become such an essential part of our lives that many of us will not step out of the house without first dabbing a few drops of our favorite scent. However, do not be surprised if many people buy perfume not for the contents but for the beautiful bottles themselves! While pretty perfume bottles are aplenty, it is the antique perfume bottle that is most sought after. Given the unique history, artwork and precision of each antique piece, some collectors will not hesitate to fork out several thousand dollars just for it!

Archeologists have discovered intricate perfume bottles within the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs, and it is believed that Egyptians were the first to incorporate fragrances and perfume into their cultural rituals. The most diverse materials, like gold, hard stones, glasses of colors and others had been used by the Egyptians to keep their perfumes. But the most used ones were made of alabaster that the neighbor desert of Libya provided them with.

The use of glass to create antique perfume bottles was not utilized until 1500 B.C. To possess a glass perfume bottle was quite an honor in those days as they were reserved for the wealthy. Perfume was used on a regular basis during ancient times in Rome, Greece and Venice, giving rise to various perfume bottle creations. Glass perfume bottles were created in England during the 16th century, followed by the emergence of Murano glassblowers during the 17th century. The Americas did not catch wind of the perfume bottle until the mid-1700s when the importation of these objects from England started.

It was not until the 18th century that perfume bottle designs were taken seriously. In the 1800s, designers in New England started to experiment with different colors, sizes and shapes, creating a myriad of beautiful antique perfume bottles that we see today. One designer even came up with a perfume bottle that resembled the Liberty Bell in 1876! Throughout the 1900s, collectors grouped perfume bottles by styles. As a collector, you may have come across styles and designs like the Steuban, Imperial, Victorian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau (glistening colors).

There are a wide variety of styles, cuts, and colors to select from when you are looking for the ideal antique perfume bottle to add to your collection. While lovely hand-painted scenes were prevalent on bottles in the early 1900s, gold details were used extensively on perfume bottles created during the Victorian era. Because some of the perfume bottles were small and so exquisite, they could even double up as a piece of jewelry. In fact, perfume bottles were extremely fashionable as decorations and enhancements during the 1880s.

There is a rich and interesting history behind each antique perfume bottle. Just invest a little bit of time to learn about the tips of choosing the right bottles and you will be on your way to a rewarding hobby! <bio>Complement your perfume bottles collection by wearing a Britney Spears Perfume - http://www.perfume321.com/ar/britney_spears_perfume.php Or, try a Calvin Klein Perfume - http://www.perfume321.com/ar/calvin_klein_perfume.php For even more free perfume information, visit http://www.perfume321.com </bio>
