There are millions of Americans that are in debt and a lot of them are doing nothing about it. Instead, they sit back and whine to others on why they can't rebuild credit or make any progress on their debt? Why is this? It's simple; these are the unmotivated, lazy people of America. They aren't taking any steps to make progress on their bills and instead of doing something, they would rather complain until your ear falls. Guess what America!? No one cares if you're in debt, join the crowd.

Now, if that isn't enough to bring you into reality, I don't know what is. I'm going to show you a few tips on how you can rebuild your credit and what you should look out when you do decide to rebuild it. I'm going to talk to you a little bit about secured credit cards. If you don't know what a secured card is, it's a credit card designed for people with bad credit who are looking to rebuild or reestablish their credit. Just like a credit card, the only difference is that this card will require that you have a deposit on your account so that if you don't pay your bills, the credit card company will have money to take from you without have to worry about trying to get it out of you.

Here are a few things you should look out for when you do decide that you want to apply for a secured credit card --

The annual fee -- The annual fee is one the biggest fees on a secured credit card. While it's rare to find a card with no annual fee, it's possible but make sure that when you do apply that you're aware of the annual fee. This is the fee you're going to have to pay regardless of what you do with your card. As long as the card is active, you'll have to pay it.

Deposit - As mentioned above, you're going to have to give the credit card company a deposit in order to open the card. Since your credit will be fairly bad, this is the reason they will ask for it. Make sure that you're aware of how much you're going to have to deposit in order to open the card. This will range anywhere from a few dollars to as much as a few hundred dollars.

Do they report? -- One of the reasons you'll be getting a secured credit card is because you'll want to rebuild your credit. You're going to want to make sure that these cards report to all of the three credit bureaus. When you apply, make sure that you check out to see if they do. This will always be in the terms. If the card doesn't, you'll want to look elsewhere.

When it comes to rebuilding your credit, this is one option in doing so. Make sure that you follow these tips above and do your research. If you can accomplish this, you'll be able to rebuild and reestablish your credit in no time!<bio>Find secured credit card applications and more of Tom's work at FINDsecuredcards.</bio>

Having no credit doesn't have to keep consumers from getting a credit card. There are several options for consumers with no credit to get a credit card.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to function in today's society without having credit. However, when you don't have credit it can also be complicated to obtain a credit card. Credit card companies need to check your credit history to determine whether they should extend credit to you. When you do not have a credit history, the credit card companies have no way of knowing if you are a credit risk. Even when you don't have a credit history, there are some ways you can obtain a credit card.

The bank or credit union where you have your savings or checking account is a good place to go to apply for a credit card when you do not have established credit. If you have income and have not bounced any checks, you have an excellent chance at getting a credit card from your bank. Since you do not have credit history, you will most likely start out with a low credit limit. Once you begin to make purchases with your credit card and make timely monthly payments, you can negotiate a credit limit increase if your card issuer does not give you one automatically.

If you are not able to get a credit card from your bank, you have other options. Store credit cards and gas credit cards are much easier to obtain than some other credit cards. Again, you will not start out with a very high credit limit, but if you make your payments on time, card issuers will increase your credit limit.

A secured credit card is another option for consumers that do not have credit established. When you have a secured credit card (http://www.securedcardsmall.com/), you make a deposit into a savings account. The amount of your deposit will dictate your credit limit. Since you have made a deposit against the credit card, the creditor does not have any reason to deem you as a risk. In the event that you do not pay your credit card bill, the creditor uses the amount of your deposit to pay the credit card balance.

Many credit card issuers offer the option to upgrade a secured credit card to an unsecured one after a certain period of time. If you go the route of a secured credit card, one that can be upgraded is a better choice than one that cannot. You should also find out how the credit card is reported to credit bureaus. Some secured credit card issuers report the credit card as being a secured credit card which can raise a red flag in the eyes of future credit. When you choose a secured credit card make sure it is one that reports as if it were an unsecured credit card. <bio>Fruzsina Csery is a freelance copy writer.
Secured or Unsecured?

When looking for a credit card after bankruptcy, you may receive piles of credit card offers from different companies, and choosing the right card can be a daunting task. The most important question that comes to mind is whether to go for a secured credit card or an unsecured credit card.

Financially, secured credit cards offer after bankruptcy provides you with a better deal than unsecured cards. This is because unsecured credit card offers after bankruptcy are often designed to place you right back into debt again, by using misleading techniques such as attractive low interest rates, high up-front fees etc. For example, a bank may offer you an unsecured credit line of $150, while you pay a $98 processing fee and a $39 annual fee. Many companies may also issue unsecured credit card offers with a credit line of several thousand dollars, but after you send in your application fee, the credit limit will come down to only a few hundred dollars.

On the other hand, a secured credit card requires a cash collateral deposit to become the credit line for the deposit account owned by the cardholder, your credit limit being either the amount of your deposit or some percentage above that amount. Secured credit card offers after bankruptcy are especially intended for people with a poor credit history or no credit history, and those who have failed to get an unsecured credit card in the past. They may charge higher fees, but in certain circumstances, they can be less expensive in total cost and security deposit.

Many secured credit offers after bankruptcy also feature incentives, and rewards for good payment which adds up to your current credit line without requiring any additional deposits.

Secured Credit Card Offer after Bankruptcy: what you need to know

1. Check the fees involved with the credit card offer after a bankruptcy, because regular payments such as annual fees or processing fees may have to be made. Also remember, annual fees differ significantly between various banks.

2. Go for a secured credit card offer that doesn't charge an application fee.

3. You do not have to pay a high interest for a secured credit card you get after bankruptcy because the card is secured by a deposit.

4. The company that offer secured credit card after your bankruptcy should be able to report your payment history to the three credit bureaus, in order to reestablish your credit history.

5. The company should not report that you are holding a secured card to the bureaus, which can adversely affect your credit score.

6. Watch out for companies credit card offers after bankruptcy that use deceptive practices <bio>http://www.onlinecreditcardapprovalsites.com/discover-credit-card with good and bad credit ratings.
If you have bad credit, you may be under the impression that you are not able to apply for a credit card. While it is true that you may be rejected from getting certain credit cards or loans, there are options available for those who have bad credit. Since a sizeable percentage of the population has bad credit, this has created a market which many banks and credit card companies have tapped into.

Your credit report is a reflection of your credit history, and it is very important when you need to apply for a car or mortgage. There may be situations where you will need a credit card to complete a certain transaction, and if you have bad credit you will run into problems. There are a number of options available for those with bad credit who want cards. Secured credit cards are one good option. A secured credit card allows you to deposit money into the account which you can then use.

Instead of borrowing money from the credit card company, you use your own money. You will not be allowed to go over the amount you place on the card. Despite this, you may have to pay the credit card company a fee in order to use their cards, and this is how their money is made. A secured credit card can be used to make any of the purchases you can make with a unsecured credit card. A prepaid debit card is another option that is used by people who have less than perfect credit.

If you are a student in college, an option may be available for you called a secured student credit card. These cards will allow students to begin building their credit while they're still in school. Students who use these cards are prevented from going over their limit because they can only spend money which they've placed on the cards. It is important to remember that you won't get the best deals or rates if your credit is poor. However, we live in an electronic age, and it is difficult to conduct many transactions without having either a debit or credit card.

Secured credit cards are a great way to allow you to make transactions while you continue to rebuild your credit. If you work hard to repair your credit, you won't be in debt forever, and using these cards will allow you to easily make electronic transactions. <bio>Joe Kenny writes the credit card comparison sites http://www.creditcards121.com http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

Many people who have never had a card before or who have a poor credit history can find it hard to get themselves a credit card. Even if you have a good job and a mortgage, if you have had problems in the past or no card previously, you might be turned down. If this is the case then there are alternatives open to you, such as getting a secured credit card. If you want to know more about getting a secured credit card, then here is some advice about secured cards and how they can benefit you.

What is a secured card?

A secured card is a card whereby you tie up a monetary deposit in a bank in order to get a credit card. Your credit limit is then 100-150% of this amount. There are no credit checks necessary for secured cards, and the more money you can tie up then the higher your limit will be. The amount that you tie up will earn interest, but you cannot use the amount at all whilst you are using the card.

Why get a secured card?

Of course, the main reason why people get a secured card is because they cannot get hold of a regular credit card. Secured cards give people with poor or no credit history the chance to build up a good credit record by spending on a credit card. If you spend wisely on the card and pay back your bill each month then you will quickly build up a better credit history and be able to get an unsecured credit card.

Advantages of a secured card

Apart from the fact that a secured card allows you to get hold of a credit card with the features of an unsecured card, it also allows you to earn interest on a lump sum of money. The money that you use to secure the card will most likely earn more interest than it would in a regular bank account, meaning that after you have finished using the card you will have made some money.

Drawbacks of a secured card

Of course, secured cards aren't for free, and they generally have higher interest rates than unsecured cards. This is not a problem if you pay your bill back in full each month. However, if you spend more than you can afford you will be subject to high rates, and you may find yourself unable to pay the amount back. This will hurt your credit history even further and make it even harder to get a regular card in the future.

Beware of scams

As with any other product that targets those with poor credit, there are a number of bad cards and scams around that you should avoid. Although many secured cards are reasonably priced, some charge extremely high annual fees, or make you sign up to an insurance policy that costs you as much as you can afford to spend on your card each month. Before signing up to any secured card, read all the fine print and shop around to find a deal that is fair and you can afford. <bio>Peter Kenny is a writer for creditcards-gb Please visit us at http://www.creditcards-gb.co.uk and http://www.thriftyscot.co.uk/Credit-Cards/ </bio>

Credit cards are considered as one of the necessities in today's life. Besides, with a credit card, you can literally purchase any product or services without having money in your pocket at all. No longer will you run the risk of getting your money stolen by simply having a credit card.

However, with all the advantages that a credit card can give you, you will find that it is quite difficult to apply for a credit card and getting approved. There are a lot of things you have to consider before a credit card issuer or a bank can get you approved for a credit card.

The first thing you need to know and need to have when applying for a credit card is a good credit rating. Your credit rating is one of the essentials that a credit card issuer or a bank will look at in order to get you approved for a credit card. By having a good credit rating, you will be sure that you can get yourself approved.

However, if you don't have any credit history or a bad credit rating it will relatively be hard or even impossible for you to get approved for a credit card. In order to obtain a credit history or repair your credit rating, you can always apply for a secured credit card.

Unlike an unsecured credit card, it will require you to deposit money on an account. The amount you deposit will be the credit limit for a secured credit card. You will also receive a monthly billing statement like an unsecured credit card.

You have to remember that a prepaid credit card and a debit card are different from a secured credit card. Debit card and prepaid credit cards will never repair or build your credit rating.

One main disadvantage of a secured credit card is that it will usually have a high interest rate than most unsecured credit cards. However, it is also a great way to control your credit card purchases. It is also a great way for you to become a responsible credit card holder and help you prepare to own an unsecured credit card.

Not only that, it will also help you build a good credit rating or help you repair a bad credit rating. With this kind of feature, you will definitely get yourself prepared to own an unsecured credit card.

Owning a credit card will also mean being more responsible for your purchases. With a secured credit card, you can train yourself to be a more responsible credit card holder. This is because, aside from the advantages that an unsecured credit card can give you, there are some people that buy irresponsibly. The feature that a credit card offers will usually tempt people to buy things that they don't really need and will often result in getting into huge amounts of credit card debt.

By first getting an unsecured credit card, you will be sure that you can be a more responsible credit card holder.

So, if you want to apply for an unsecured credit card, getting a secured credit card first is recommended if you don't know what you are getting into or if you want to build a credit history or repair your credit rating. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects. Rate of 5 or 6 % is dancing on your head, you would think twice. Interest rates of the secured cards are equal to the unsecured cards, and how much you will pay will depend on the damaged of your credit.

In reality, a few secured credit cards compel processing charges and annual fees besides high interest rates. Prior to applying for secured card, you need to compare the rates cautiously and understand exactly what you will be charged. Something in the excess of 20 % interest or $100 yearly fee is usually too much.

Behavior Does Pay

Imagine secured credit card is only an means to end? You make use of it for 6 to 12 months and after that get rid? Some cards are intended to be in that way, however a few secured credit cards will grow with you.

If you want secured card, then look for one, which offers increasing credit limit and good payment history, better yet, one, which transitions in unsecured card after some time. Since length of the creditor relations has impact on the credit rating, it is good to look for credit cards that you will keep for long haul.

Secured cards are not like the Prepaid Cards

If you considered foregoing secured card and selecting for prepaid credit card, as initial asset is less, then you have to think again. The secured credit cards account to credit bureaus and work to get better your credit card rating. The prepaid credit cards will not. In actual fact, few places that accept the secured cards might not accept the prepaid cards, like car rental facilities and hotels.

World of cards can be very confusing, there are a few fixed notions about different kinds of credit cards. Do not let rumors that you have heard or misinformation that you have got about the secured cards lead you off track from making sound choice to which credit card is good for you.

Advantages of Secured Credit Card

Besides saving money by getting secured credit card, you can as well get back the money, in form of the deposit. Just make sure you follow your payment contract with company, as well as evade defaulting on account. In addition, by establishing the credit with top credit corporation, you will improve your chance of getting offered unsecured credit card afterwards. You can see, if you are paying off the dues dutifully, you are building very good credit history. The credit score will improve each time when positive payment is reported to all major credit card bureaus.

A secured credit card isn't made for everyone. This can influence your personal score when you look for a bank loan. Unsecured business financing may be really hard to come by, but it's much easier if you know the right places to look for it.

There is no need for you to experience the negativity associated with being turned down for a business loan.

For your business to do well, you must strike a good rapport with your vendor. Being given a line of credit with a supplier is a blessing. You should value it and stick to the terms. Having this line or credit can make a world of difference. If you have a bad credit history, no vendor will want to work with you and give you a line of credit. You can well imagine how difficult it is to keep your business running when no vendor will give you credit. Chances are you are not in the right place at the right time. There are loads of unsecured business loans that are yours for the taking, if you just know where to look.

People who have started their own business of late may want a secured business credit card. Most new businesses, however, don't qualify for unsecured business credit cards. With a secured business credit card account, you put some money in a savings account, and that account is held by the credit card issuer. After this, you get your secured business credit card.

The credit limit of your secured business credit card will be the amount you have kept in your savings account connected with the card. All business credit cards are not the same, though.

You should apply for a secured business credit card that has annual fees of less than about $59, and a rate of interest less than around 12%. Since you pay a deposit, the bank's risks are few, which should be reflected in the low interest rates.

You can also earn interest on the security deposit at the bank. It is better that you earn this instead of your bank.

Building your credit

You must be careful to make payments on time when you have started using your secured business credit card.
If you're like me, a teenager or young adult, just getting started in the big wide world, getting credit can be tough. Most creditors want to see a solid credit history before they give you a loan. They seem to be as clueless as I am as to how to get a credit history. After all, how do you get a credit history when you have to have one to get credit? Duh!

As frustrating as it can be for a young person, there are a few ways to get some credit history, to at least give you a little something to show the bank.

Co-signer The easiest way to get started with credit is to get a parent, grandparent, etc. to co-sign a loan for you, usually a car loan. However, for some of us, that is not an option for one reason or another. Another option you can consider is a co-signed credit card. Just be sure that you pay your bills on time, or you'll just get yourself a bad credit history and be in worse shape than when you started!

Secured Credit Card You can also get a secured credit card. You would make a deposit of perhaps $500 to the issuing bank. They would then issue you a credit card with a $500 limit. That protects them, and will give you a credit history. A word of warning -- the leading bank that issues secured credit cards has a very bad record with the Better Business Bureau, so check out the bank first!

Secured Loan You can also get a small secured loan. You deposit $1,000 with the bank as collateral, and they loan you $1,000. This is really pointless, except it does give you a credit history.

Lastly, once you get some credit history, keep in mind that you may be able to get a fuel card or department store card before you can get a credit card. Check and see if the fuel / dept store card will report to the credit agencies and help improve your credit history.

One final tip -- if you're buying a car and need a car loan, a good salesman will help you get a loan. That's actually how I got mine -- along with a large down payment and a co-signature. <bio>For more great resources on credit and financing, visit the Money Forum: http://www.gotalkmoney.com </bio>

When deciding upon what credit card is the best for you, don't rule out secured credit cards. In fact, many people are finding secured credit cards to be the best option. Some people choose a secured credit card when they have had credit problems in the past, and obtaining a traditional credit card would be difficult if not impossible. Secured credit cards are great options for teaching your teenagers and college students about responsible financial spending. Secured credit cards help control your spending, since you must have the money before you can make a purchase, unlike a traditional credit card that you don't have to have the money to back up your purchases.

So, you may be asking why bother with a credit card at all, if you have to have the cash available to fund your secured credit card. In our modern times, it is becoming increasingly difficult to do certain things without having access to a credit card. Have you ever tried renting a car or purchasing an airplane ticket without a credit card? Ever tried booking a hotel room without a credit card?

Secured credit cards work in the same manner as a checking account debit card, however, there is no actual checking or savings account associated with the card. You make a deposit to the company that issues the secured credit card, and that becomes your spending limit. When you have made purchases that reach the amount of money you deposited, you have to deposit more money in order to continue using the card.

Advantages of using a secured credit card, other than the obvious advantage of not spending more money than you actually have, include the fact that almost anyone is eligible to obtain a secured credit card. Regardless of your personal financial history and credit score, you can make a deposit with a secured card distributor and obtain a credit card. The only actual requirement to be approved for a secured card is you must be of legal age and have money to deposit on the card.

Other advantages of a secured credit card versus a traditional credit card are that you are not charged an annual percentage rate on the amount that you deposit, and you can have your paycheck deposited directly onto a secured credit card in many instances. A traditional credit card will smother you with interest rates, late fees and finance charges over time, and you'll end up paying two to three times what you've actually charged to the card! With a secured card, you know exactly how much you're paying for an item. Secured cards allow you to make purchases online when you would not be able to if you didn't have a traditional credit card.

The main disadvantage to using a secured credit card in place of a traditional credit card is the fact that you have to have the money in advance for any purchase you want to make. While this is an advantage when considering your credit score and the perfect way to avoid getting into debt too deep for you to handle, it is also a disadvantage in the event of an emergency situation. If your car breaks, or your home's furnace dies and you don't have the cash available, a traditional credit card would come in handy. Perhaps without ever using traditional credit cards however, you will be able to save enough money to cover emergency instances and not need to rely on credit to bail yourself out of the emergency situation.

Secured credit cards may be the best option for your credit card needs. They allow you to travel conveniently, make purchases by phone or the internet, and without the dangers of falling into financial desperation! <bio>This article has been provided courtesy of creditor web, http://www.creditorweb.com . </bio>

Credit cards are used by a lot of people today. Besides, with a credit card, you can purchase the items you need in your everyday life without the need to carry any money at all. The bank will be the one to pay for your purchases but you will also be required to pay it back in a monthly basis. The bank will send you the billing statement that will contain all the billing information, such as the items or services you purchased and also the interest.

However, most banks will require you to have a good credit rating first. A credit rating is important. It will determine if you can get a mortgage or in this case, a credit card. Without a credit rating, you will find it hard to apply for a credit card.

A credit rating will contain all the necessary information that the bank will need whether they can issue you a credit card or not. It will contain information, such as if you recently applied for credit, how long you had the credit, what type of credit you have (loans, mortgage, credit cards), how much you owe, and also your payment history.

A good credit rating will get you the exact credit card you need.

However, if you don't have a credit rating, you will really find it hard to apply for a regular credit card but it doesn't mean that you can't apply for one. There is one way that can help you establish a credit rating and at the same time, get a credit card. This is called a secured credit card. This particular credit card is great for people who are looking for a way to establish a credit history or to repair their credit rating.

Getting a secured credit card is one of the best ways to establish a credit history. So, you may now ask what the difference between a regular credit card and a secured credit card. A secured credit card uses the money you deposit in the account. This card will also have a balance limit that will not be more than the amount you deposited in the account.

Once you deposited an amount on the credit card, you can now use the credit card at once. With this kind of feature, it can be both beneficial to the lender and the borrower. Not only that this will establish a good credit history for the borrower, but it will also minimize the risk of overusing the credit card because he or she is only limited to spend the amount they deposit.

For the lender, a secured credit card will minimize the risk of not being paid back by the borrower. The secured credit cards also doesn't have an annual fee that you have to pay for.

Establishing a good credit history will start once you start using your secured credit card. Also, you can use the secured credit card for as long as you want. In time, as you build your credit rating, you can now apply for regular or unsecured credit cards.

The main drawback on secured credit cards is that it will usually have a higher interest rate than most unsecured credit cards.

Secured credit cards are great for people who are just starting out on establishing a good credit history. However, you should always make sure that you can afford to pay for the monthly bill in order to establish a good credit rating. Unsecured credit cards require you to be responsible, if you think that you are not responsible enough in terms of spending, you shouldn't apply for an unsecured credit card yet. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
It's hard to get away from using a credit card these days. If you want to travel, you must have a credit card to reserve a hotel room. Renting a car? It takes a credit card. Want to get a membership at the new video rental store? Present your credit card, please.

For those with bad or challenged credit, life can be tough without a credit card. Secured credit cards can help to bridge this gap for those without credit or with damaged credit.

A secured credit card works like this: you deposit a set amount into an account (usually between $300 and $500) and that becomes your credit limit. Your deposit, in essence, "secures" the credit card. If you don't pay, your money becomes the issuing credit card company's security against default.

After you have established good credit, you can increase the credit line by depositing more money, or the credit card company might extend you more credit without an additional deposit.

Secured credit cards can be an excellent choice for many people, but there are a few things to know:

* Almost all secured credit cards have an annual fee. But these fees can vary greatly from one issuing company to another. Shop around.

* Many banks no longer offer secured credit cards, but often credit unions do. If you want to go this route, you can open an account at many credit unions for as little as $5 and then look into the secured credit card there.

* Most issuing companies will require that you pay the balance in full each month. They don't take your payment due from the money you have deposited =96 you must send a payment just as you would for a traditional credit card. These are usually not revolving credit accounts.

If you think a secured credit card is the right thing for you, there are some dos and don'ts to consider. First, the dos:

* DO shop around. Not all offers are the same. Don't take the first offer that appears in your mailbox. Do your own research.

* DO look into getting a secured credit card with a higher balance if that's what you need. In other words, if you have $3,000 to deposit, find an issuing company that will allow you to deposit that much to start so your limit will be higher.

* DO make sure this is the best option for you. If you have never had credit before, or you have severely damaged credit, this might be the only option. But if you think you can get a traditional card, that's a better option.

* DO read all the fine print. Every single word. Some companies charge so many fees, your small $300 deposit might be eaten up in fees before you can ever use the card. Some require you to purchase insurance, for $50 or more a month. But many companies don't do these things and those are the companies you're looking for. Do your research and get the best deal for you.

Although secured credit cards are a good option for many people, there are some don't considerations. These include:

* DON'T be casual about this credit card. If you have damaged credit, using a secured credit card is an excellent way to re-establish your good credit rating. If you have never had credit, this is a way to establish credit so you can acquire traditional credit later.

* DON'T try to go over your limit (or deposit amount). Not only will the charge not go through, but it will be a mark against you. Keep careful records each month you use the card so you know you're not charging right up against the credit limit. <bio>This article has been provided courtesy of Creditor Web, http://www.creditorweb.com </bio>

One of the most important financial factors in our society is whether a person has good credit. Credit cards are not always easy to acquire when you have no credit history, many lenders will shy away from a person that has never had credit due to the fact that they don't know if you are responsible enough to pay off a credit card bill. The case is true as well for people that have had very bad credit in the past and now are finally done with their debts. Many people need credit cards to start growing their credit card rating again, but most banks don't want to take a chance. What can people do in these situations? The answer is simple- secured credit cards.

The overwhelming majority of credit cards are unsecured, this is why the banks charge lots of interest and default rates are very high. When a bank gives you a credit card for a certain amount, they do not request collateral. Unlike mortgages that keep homes as collateral or a car loan in which your car can be repossessed, credit card loans have limited recourse if you default on your debt. One of the ways to break through the barrier of getting a credit card is to secure your loan with the credit card issuer.

A secured credit card is a bank account that you set up with the credit card issuer. The bank then sends you a credit card. The bank will usually give you a credit limit amount of which you have deposited into your bank account with them. For instance, if you would like a $500 line of credit, deposit $500 in the account. This way, if you don't pay, they have your money and don't lose anything.

Secured credit cards make their money by having you pay certain fees each month or year and still collect interest from your purchases. While fees vary, remember you are paying a premium to either start off your credit history or begin a new chapter on your credit rating. <bio>Connie Barker is the owner of several financial websites including http://www.directcreditcardservices.com/secured-credit-cards.html </bio>

A credit card is one of those ubiquitous inventions of the modern age that refuses to quit. In fact, it has made itself so necessary in our lives that we need one to rent a car, book a hotel room or just to buy a comicbook online. More than that, credit cards are one of the ways creditors take a peek at our credit history with and they can actually make or break our chances for a good loan, an apartment or a job. So what do we do if we've torn our credit to pieces? We turn to secured credit cards.

Secured credit cards are a great substitute for regular credit cards. Whether you have poor credit badly needing repair, can't get a credit card or are new to the credit scene, a secured credit card can help you re-build or establish your credit.

How does it work?

A secured credit card is a cross between a credit card and a debit card. It requires collateral in the form of cash deposited in an account. That amount then functions as your credit line. So if you deposited $700 in your account, you can use your secured credit card to purchase items up to $700, nothing more. The catch is, you have to pay it back.

Some banks offer to give you more credit as a reward for being a good client (i.e., you pay your bills on time) or maybe allow you to charge up to a certain percentage more than your deposit amount. You only need to pay a small interest rate to cover for that type of usage.

What's the minimum deposit amount?

Depending on the type of card you chose or on the banking institution, most secured credit cards will require a deposit starting at $300. There is no limit to how much you want to add later on.

What to look for in a secured credit card

Compared to unsecured cards, secured credit cards require annual fees and come with higher rates. If you're shopping around for a secured card, make sure to get one that has no application fee. You will have to pay an annual fee so choose a secured card that does not ask for a prohibitively high charge.

Watch out for secured credit card agreements that hide fees or ridiculous add-ons that you don't really need. An example is one where a credit card company will approve your secured card application provided you sign up for a monthly insurance policy that costs $50.

Where can I apply for a secured credit card?

Not all banks offer secured credit cards but you can still check out your local banking institutions if it's still part of their product line. You can also check with your credit unions since many of them offer these cards to members only.

Using secured credit cards to build credit

While most banks target clients who have never had credit before as the main users for secured credit cards, many consumers use secured credit cards to help re-establish their credit. To do this, consumers need only to use their secured cards and ensure that the bill gets paid each month. By establishing their reliability, the consumer establishes positive credit.

The future of secured credit cards

Secured credit cards are still the choice of many card holders, but many are giving up their secured cards in exchange for unsecured cards. Unsecured cards don't require cash collateral, which accounts in part for their attractiveness. A secured credit card is still a great choice, especially for people who are still building credit or for those who are trying to rebuild theirs. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Bad credit certainly can change the way you look at things, and the pinch of not being able to get the credit needed can make you more than a little frustrated. There may be, however, some help for you - in the form of a secured credit card. Here are some reasons why you may want to your secured credit card quickly.

Guaranteed Issue - Almost

Secured credit cards are not a great risk to the credit card company so they will issue them to just about anyone. The only thing that you need is to deposit the cash in a savings account to be able to cover the limits on the card. Some companies will require you to provide as much as 150% of the card limit, and others may ask for as little as 50%.

Building Credit

Using a secured credit card to build your credit can be very helpful. The key here, like any other credit card, is to make sure that you make the payments on time. You will want to see if the credit card company reports to at least one of the major credit bureaus. If they do not, then it cannot help your credit rating at all.

Fees Will Probably Be Applied

When you apply for your secured credit card, you will want to know exactly what fees are going to be applied to the account. Some people have reported fees so high that there was virtually no credit left on the card - even before they used it! There will also most likely be an annual fee, which could be a couple of hundred dollars, and a higher rate of interest.

The Main Thing To Remember

With this secured credit card you need to remember that its main purpose -- in your case, is not to load it up with purchases as soon as possible. You are getting it in order to build your credit. This means you may only want to put a few small purchases on it and pay it off in full when the bill comes.

Some Things To Watch Out For

There are a number of secured credit card scams going on so you will most likely want to stick with the major credit card companies. Their fees will also be lower and you may even get most of your initial deposit back, possibly even with interest - as long as you pay your bills on time.

Another thing to watch out for is the requirement to call some 900 number in order to apply. From this type of call, you could be charged anywhere from a couple of dollars up to $50, and some of them even require you to make a second call - scam!

Be sure to compare secured credit card offers in order to find the best for your particular situation. Also, be sure to read the fine print before you apply. Some fees may apply just from the application process. By being wise, though, you can soon start to be on your way toward a solid financial standing, again. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

Most people who have taken out a loan or use a credit card have credit rating. However, if you miss a payment or owe money to a creditor, the creditor will report this to a credit reporting agency that keeps records of your credit report. If you do not repair your credit immediately, you will have a negative credit rating and you will not be able to get any credit or loan in the future. You must take immediate steps to remedy this and repair your credit rating.

A good place to start your credit repair is by using a secured credit card. It is usually impossible to apply for a credit card once you have bad credit, which in turn does not afford you any opportunity of proving to your creditor that you are capable of paying your bills responsibly and on time.

To repair your credit with credit cards, obtaining a secured credit card is a good option. Secured credit card is targeted specifically to people with bad credit. When applying for a secured credit card, you are required to place with the secure credit card issuer an initial deposit equal to the amount of your credit limit; that is, you will have a credit limit of $1,000 if you place a deposit of $1,000. The issuer has the right to deduct from your deposit any outstanding balance on your card statement that you fail to pay on time. This plan thus benefits both you and the issuer; in other words the issuer carries no risk thanks to your initial deposit, and you will not fall into your old habit of being behind on or failing to make payment,

Once you have received your secured credit card, you must start practicing good money management habits in order to repair your credit. Use the card but use it sparingly, and also make sure you pay on time. By doing so, you are demonstrating to your creditors that you can be trusted and are responsible, and in this way you will slowly repair your credit.

If you do not take any steps towards credit repair, the credit reporting agency will negatively mark your credit report for seven years, so that you will not be able to get any credit or loan for all those years. By taking a positive step towards credit repair such as by applying for a secured credit card and using it responsibly, you will not have to wait that long to get good credit again. <bio>To apply for your Credit Card, visit Susan's site at http://www.get-your-credit-card.info and http://www.free-credit-card-offer.info.
If you are considering applying for a credit card after having gone through bankruptcy, the best advice is to apply for secured credit cards that initiate collateral usage for the credit card application other than applying for unsecured credit cards.

Have you ever wondered how secured and unsecured credit cards differ from one another? By the word itself, you know that the secure credit cards are secured while the unsecured credit cards are unsecured. The secure credit cards uses your saving accounts as collateral, usually starting from five hundred dollars or more that the credit card issuer use to determine credit limits for you, and as mentioned used for collateral purposes if there is a default in payments. For instance, in your savings accounts you have the amount of $500 dollars that can be used as collateral used for possible problems that are most likely to occur that can result in default payments. When you default, the card issuer automatically deducts the payments in your savings account to pay for the credit card.

Unsecured credit cards are also an option for those in need of a credit card but application for these credit cards may be difficult due to related bankruptcy problems. In applying for unsecured credit cards you are required to fill in an application form that is based on your income, credit report, and other necessary information stated on the application form that credit card issuers need to grant approval to your credit card application. These credit cards are approved with credit limits based on your income and credibility. Although applying for unsecured credit limit does not entirely mean that you are qualified for the unsecured credit card, instead applications are also based depending on the credit card issuer's guidelines too.

In cases like bankruptcy, applying for secured credit cards are best. Besides, unsecured credit cards depend on the history of your credit, lessening your chances for unsecured credit cards. The moment the credit card issuers learn you have a record of bankruptcy in file, the issuer will definitely be questionable and may not grant you a credit card. On the other hand applying for secured credit cards have higher chances in getting a secured credit card whereas unsecured credit cards are difficult to apply for due to credit report such as bankruptcy. Many companies offer secured credit cards that you may consider great, but the truth is all secured credit cards can be strenuous and could make troubles for you. Secured credit cards are not all the same therefore consider researching the different types of secured credit cards in limiting your choice by applying for the best credit cards. There are some criteria mostly important before applying for secured credit cards.

The following criteria you should consider are low interest rates, application fees if any, and be sure that a secured card issuer informs all three credit bureaus about the application. You should consider searching for secured credit cards that has low interest rates and no application fees included. Also, the important thing to remember is all secured credit cards should be reported at all credit bureaus for approval.

Applying for the right credit cards need time and effort for researching different types of credit cards offered by companies. If you feel that you are still not satisfied with secured credit card, you can also try unsecured credit cards. However, because of a bankruptcy background, the best to apply for credit cards are secured credit cards. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Getting approved for a credit card with poor credit is difficult. Because of your low credit score, or no credit history, many credit card companies consider you a bad risk. Fortunately, there are ways around this problem. Obtaining a credit card with poor credit is doable. However, it's going to require a little effort and research. Here are a few tips for getting easily approved for a credit card with bad credit.

Apply for a Retail or Gas Credit Card

If no credit history is standing in the way of you getting a major credit card, consider applying with small retail stores or obtaining a gas card. Unless you are a student, most credit card companies do not willing approve those with no credit history. However, store accounts are easier to qualify for. After approval, use the card responsibly. This will help build or improve your credit score, which makes getting approved for a major credit card effortless.

Get a Credit Card through Your Bank or Credit Union

The majority of banking institutions offer major credit cards. If you are a customer, the credit approval department may be willing to issue you a credit card with a small limit. With this said, it is important to maintain a good relationship with your bank. For example, avoid bouncing checks or incurring overdraft fees. If poor money management skills are displayed, the bank is less willing to assist you. Furthermore, attempt to build a cash reserve. This could possibly improve your odds of approval.

Apply for a Secured Bad Credit Credit Card

Many credit card companies advertise bad credit credit cards. To get approved, this usually entails opening a savings account with the company. In this case, the credit card is secured. Although secured credit cards require upfront cash, and usually involve several start-up fees, this is the easiest method for quickly improving or building a solid credit history.

The credit limit on secured credit cards varies. For the most part, the limit is equivalent to the amount placed into the savings account. As credit score improves, the company may gradually increase your limit. <bio>Try using http://www.abcloanguide.com for a list of Recommended Poor Credit Credit Card Companies online.
A credit card can offer advantages that ready cash will usually not. With robbery rife, a credit card can keep you from carrying large and dangerous amounts of cash. You also do not have to worry about looking for an ATM if you suddenly run out of money, provided that the merchant you want to purchase products and services from has a credit card machine.

A credit card is certainly convenient, and, despite the fact that some establishments are choosing not to adopt credit cards as payment yet, plastic is growing to be ever more popular. There may come a time when credit cards will replace cash -- but can such a day, and its conveniences, come for someone in bad credit standing?

If you are in debt, or if you have a record of unpaid bills in the past, then you may be denied a credit card when you make an application. Credit card companies are now growing ever more wary of identity thieves and piling bills, so their concern is not without its merit. You need not worry, however, as there are ways to obtain a credit card even if you are in bad credit standing.

The secured credit card offers the advantages of both credit and debit cards. A secured credit card, by virtue of its name, is secured because of a deposit made by the cardholder. This deposit determines the amount of credit that the secured card will have. Generally, cardholders should deposit the amount of credit they want, or twice it. For instance, if a cardholder deposits ten thousand dollars, he or she will obtain credit in the range of five thousand to ten thousand dollars.

This money acts as security for the credit card company, as it can take the money in if the cardholder spends too much and does not pay credit card bills. In this way, people who are in bad credit standing, or people who have no credit history, can carry a credit card. A secured credit card is often marketed as a way to rebuild an otherwise unattractive credit standing.

If you are interested in procuring a secured credit card, you may want to take note of the following tips before making your application.

•	Due to the considerable leeway secured credit cards give to sometimes inveterate spenders, credit card companies will often charge high service charges or fees than they would for other credit cards.

•	A secured credit card is not the way out of debt. As the cardholder, you are still required to pay your secured credit card bills regularly. If you decide to pay less than the bill you are required to pay -- that is, if you default on your payment -- the credit card company has an option, by law, to deduct the remaining money you owe out of your initial security deposit.

•	There are different secured credit card packages available, with some of them granting clemency for late or unpaid bills. In cases of delinquency exceeding five to six months, however, the account may be closed, and the security deposit will be taken by the credit card company in its entirety. The cardholder, moreover, may be in debt, and may have to pay the unpaid portion of the bills, plus interest.

As with all your other conventional credit cards, a secured credit card will require you to manage and discipline your spending habits. As long as you spend wisely, control your buying habits, and monitor your budget to fit your lifestyle, then you will be able to rebuild your credit standing. A secured credit card can assist you in this goal. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
