In addition, because education has been regarded very important today, many educational institutions offer educational programs.

Sometimes parents are more pressured on what and where school can they send their children to get the best education. With the different educational institutions that have different curriculum choices and external influences affects the decision on what school to choose.

Many public school systems nowadays have not met the needs of parents for their children in terms of academic educational system. This is the reason why sometimes, home schooling is better than sending your kids to an incapable educational school institution.

Home schoolings have become popular today because of the many benefits that it offers and the advantages it brings over the traditional educational classroom method system being offered through public schools.

Home schooling provides the parents the advantage of providing the curriculum they want and they think is best for their kids. Home schooling provides a control over the education that the students would learn. It is found effective for students that would want to develop and learn within their learning capability and skills.

Another advantage of home schooling is that parents can remove in the academic curriculum the things the kids does not need or irrelevant. Home schooling is very flexible in terms of educational process.

Home schooling provides assistance on the things a student needs to improve in terms of his strength and parents can remove the things that are not necessary basing from the skills being develop.

Home schooling focuses on developing the skills found on a student and drop in part of the curriculum that is not necessary from the child's skills that could sometimes cause stress or disappointment because they are limited on learning them.

Parents can literally choose the things their child wants to develop or the natural skills their child have. <bio>Check more about career opportunities and training schools articles http://www.educationcenteronline.org/ It is your education center online. </bio>

What is the difference between a class room course or a similar course by studying and taking long distance examination online? Are online degree, diploma or certification courses recognized? Well, both have got its merits as well as its warts.

Characteristics of classroom courses are:-

When attending classroom educational courses and programs, you will have the peace of mind that you are actually attending a traditional teaching course although it is just psychological.

You are able to interact and ask questions with your course instructors and teachers.

You will have classmates to discuss issues pertaining to your lessons.

The downsides of classroom educational courses are:-

Classroom courses are much more expensive than online courses because to conduct the courses, the institution you are attending have much higher over costs such as offering its facilities and staff maintaining them.

There is also traveling time to be taken into consideration which is unproductive time loss.

Characteristics of online educational courses are:-

You have the comfort of studying and taking exams from home. Certainly very beneficial for busy people like you.

You save money because online educational courses are much less expensive. This in turn can give you an opportunity to take up a course which you may not be able to afford if the course is offered only on attending classroom lessons.

You will be able to enroll for courses not available near where you live. That is online educational courses are also know as long distance learning.

You have the liberty to decide when to take online examinations since exams can be taken as and when you are ready. However, there is a risk that you may not take the exam because there is no pressure to do so.

You save traveling time from having to travel to classrooms for lessons.

The downsides of taking online courses are:-

The perception that online courses are inferior although many top educational institutions are offering top quality online courses.

Those online education examinations are of a lower quality. Again this may be another misconception because many quality institutions offering both online and classroom education programs set the same examination questions for both their classroom and online students. Even the markers of the examinations are the academics.

My opinion is that enrolling for online educational courses is much more sensible. Many people doubt the effectiveness of the online courses because of the mindset that traditional courses are better. This mindset was created when we were young and attending schools was the way we were brought up. Today, many educational lessons are now conducted online because of advance technologies which were then unavailable.

Critics cited that online courses had no teachers to guide the students. Now, let me ask the critics a question. Since all instructions are on the course materials, why should there be a need for someone to guide you and you pay good money for that? The course study materials are for you to study and most of the time you can email your educators should you have any questions. Therefore, the critic's argument is only for psychological peace of mind.

However, you must be prudent in choosing your long distance learning online educators. This is because since many people have the perception that long distance online education is inferior, then choosing reputable educators and institutions will help to dispel such discrimination. <bio>Chris Chew is giving away free ebooks on wealth creation and personal development by famous authors on his blog at http://create-attract-wealth.blogspot.com.
Here's the question -- is it better to have a secondary plot or sub-plots? Here's another question, which as a reader, and then as a writer do you prefer?

I think you have to have both.

Subplot = A subordinate plot in fiction or drama. In our terms (A relating plot) Basically a hidden plot that some readers miss and writers don't know they have written, which helps bring the romance to the surface. Also known as twist and turns through out the romance.

A secondary plot is second story happening in the process of the romance. Such as a Mystery Romance, solving the murders.

As a reader I prefer and expect both. As a writer I love the secondary plot and fear the subplot. Not only do you have to worry about coming up with ways for the romance to move foreword and the secondary plot to come to an end but you have to add this hidden tale of the romance. Man what a pain in the ole writers wrist.

What makes a good secondary plot? And what makes a good sub-plot? Can you give an example? And tell us how you would use those tools to your benefit?

A good Secondary plot has to be strong enough to hold up to the tension of the romance plot, without taking away from it. Basically in my book La Roe's Finding the murderer and bringing him to justice is the secondary plot.

The subplot was Max teaching Emerald how to love and trust again. This had to happen for Emerald and the real hero Stephan to end up together.

By weaving a good subplot and secondary plot you end up with a gripping romance even if it's a comedy since all parts play off the main plot, ROMANCE. <bio>Dee Owens writes articles for http://www.articles3000.com.
If you recognize the value of having a post secondary education but are having a hard time coming up with the funds to get yourself through. A financial grant is one way that you can get yourself up to several thousand dollars in aid money. Grants, unlike other forms of financial aid, come with the added stipulation that you do not have to pay them back!

Grants are funds given to tax-exempt nonprofit organizations or local governments by foundations, corporations, governments, small business and individuals. Most grants are made to fund a specific project and require some level of reporting. The process involves an applicant submitting a proposal to a potential funder, either on the applicant's own initiative or in response to a Request for Proposals from the funder. Other grants can be given to individuals, such as victims of natural disasters or individuals who seek to open a small business.

1. Educational Grants

There are conditions that apply to grants, of course. You didn't think you were going to get something for nothing did you? First of all, you must prove that you are in financial need. Grants are awarded only to those students that have demonstrated their family income level is below a certain level. There are also grants offered by corporations to benefit certain minorities and disadvantaged groups of individuals.

2. Apply Early Also, Apply Often

It never hurts to apply for an educational grant. Who knows, you just might get it! Of coruse, you can't just phone a school up and apply, you will be required to fill out several complex application forms. Some grant applications also require a written essay.

3. Grant Application Forms

Most of the time, you can find application forms posted online so there is no need for you to visit the institutions yourself in person. This form is more commonly known as FAFSA form or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. You just have to fill up the FAFSA form and this form is consequently evaluated by the government. With education becoming more and more expensive, it makes the most sense for you to try and lower the costs as much as possible. <bio>For more great education grant related articles and resources check out http://123grants.info </bio>

Home schooling is an attractive option to consider for many parents. The program offers many advantages over learning in traditional schools. Home schooling also provides more one on one teaching time where the teacher can focus on the student as opposed to handling numerous students at the same time. This will allow children to obtain quality instruction.

Students of home schooling also benefit from having a very comfortable and familiar environment for a classroom. Home-schooled students no longer have to adapt to new surroundings, which can also sometimes affect a child's ability to learn. This system can also provide a way for parents to be closer with their children and can also help parents have a more active role in educating their children in the manner that they want.

Home schooling can effectively be used by employing a variety of methods available. There are classical home schooling methods that follow traditional education in conventional educational institutions. Classical home schooling comprises of primary, secondary and tertiary phases which is most accepted in most educational institutions today. Other educational philosophies can also be adopted through the home schooling method.

But the main difference that home schooling can provide is that it can allow a more varied approach into teaching and learning. You can choose from a variety of accepted techniques available that you can use to effectively help your child learn and absorb new knowledge. There are unit studies that make use of a central theme, implemented in context on all the subjects that are tackled.

Home schooling can also follow a student-paced learning approach which depends on a student's learning speed. This approach helps students understand fully or master a concept before proceeding to the next subject or topic. Another approach is the andquot;unschoolingandquot; method that encourages students to depend not on direct instruction but learning through an exploration of interests. This enables a child to learn by doing. This approach aims to provide learning opportunities through games and real life circumstances and problems which will enable a child to learn without coercion.

Home schooling is a credible alternative to traditional education. It can provide parents with a choice on how to effectively educate their children. As home schooling is fast getting the approval of more and more people, it becomes a very attractive option made available for you and your children. With your children's future in mind, having different options can be a good thing. And home schooling is an option that you must consider in trying to provide the best education for your child. <bio>For more information on home schooling andamp; other information, please visit http://home-schooling.articlekeep.com.This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
About 10 years ago a new wave of information was about to hit the world, and it would be called the World Wide Web, which would prove to change the educational world forever. After just a few months of the internet forming, educational institutions started to offer courses via the internet. As technology matured, so did the educational course offerings. After just a few short years the internet has become the place for online degrees. First it was the online associate's degree, and now it has become the online bachelor degree that has taken over as the online educational standard for those wanting to take college level courses online.

Many people had believed that earning an online bachelor degree was something that would never happen. The skeptics would say that the quality of the education, or the coveted campus experience would evaporate with online bachelor degree programs in place. This however did not turn out to be true. In fact there are many ways that the online colleges have exceeded expectations when it comes to quality. The online programs have continued to be a powerful and popular degree to earn.

Educational institutions are constantly seeking new sources of revenue to maintain what is often a very expensive educational cycle, and the online bachelor degree provides just the right financial boost these institutions so desperately need. The online bachelor degree allows universities to obtain more qualified students, for less cost than the school would pay for the same student to attend classes on campus. The program provides a unique source of revenue for the schools to take advantage, through a high rate of interest, and a low overhead cost associated with developing, and implementing the courses.

Most online bachelor degree programs are based around a self paced structure that allows the student to shoulder most of the burden of gaining an education, which in turn allows the school to profit from a program in ways never before seen. Online degree programs currently are in high demand, and thus the numbers of enrolled students goes up. Along with this the students are given a simple piece of software, typically on the internet that they use to access the class. Besides paying the instructor, whom acts more as a moderator in this format than an instructor, there are little other costs for an institution when it comes to the online bachelor degree. It is a very attractive circumstance for all that are involved.

With the overwhelming interest in online bachelor degree programs across the nation there is surely a feeling of growth when it comes to online courses, and the schools associated with them. There is simply too much profit to cut them, especially in an educational world where budget cuts seem to never end, and the cost of good faculty is consistently on the rise. For all of the above reasons it is the online bachelor degree that should guide the best schools financially into the next decade of online instruction. With the large amount of computer literate high school students, it is no wonder that many online bachelor degree programs are gearing up for their highest enrollment yet. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer for Virginia College. Virginia College Online offers many online bachelor degree programs.
When we talk about the domain name, we cannot escape the presence of top level domain names or commonly called as domain name extensions. It is for the reason that the domain name extensions are a great part of a domain name.

Given such idea, it is no doubt that many companies or the domain name owners in particular have their own domain name extensions for a much better identification. It is in fact a general view that all of the domain name extensions, whether it is a dot com, dot net, dot org, or dot edu domain names, really play a great part for identifying a domain name.

If the dot com, dot net, and dot org is the most common types of domain name extensions and has contributed a great part in the field of domain name, the dot edu domain name is also of great importance. Many domain name holders today cater to dot edu domain names for certain purposes and for certain functions.

Generally, the dot edu domain name is a descriptive domain name extensions that is designed to imply an educational institution or a degree granting university. To better show a concrete idea about the dot edu domain name, take for example the University of Portland's domain name at up. edu which is the official site of Oregon's Catholic University, the University of Portland.

Just like some of the top level domains such as the dot gov, dot net, and dot int, the dot edu domain name is also known as part of the generic domain names that is one that would not immediately be related with a company. Given such fact about the generic domain name to which the dot edu domain name belongs, it is therefore understandable that the dot edu domain name is such that defines an entire category of business and with the dot edu domain name, that business would be the "educational" business.

And speaking of the generic domain names to which the dot edu belongs, it is considered that as many of the domain name extensions have been approved today, many companies have gone on to create successful brands based on a generic domain name, and these domain names tend to be very important.

Furthermore, the dot edu domain name is such of great importance for identifying the educational institution since many of the people today are looking for some resources or information about certain educational institutions or degree granting universities maybe for some purposes. And by knowing that the dot edu domain name exists in the real world, they will be able to locate a certain educational institution through the dot edu domain name extension.

The dot edu domain name, finally, as it is one of the noted important domain name extensions therefore exists for the dot edu domain name generally affects how easily the visitors of the degree granting universities will find them. For many, games and toys are simply what they seem to appear: implements of recreational activities for children. But when properly understood, and used effectively, educational toys and games can result in more emotionally stable and intelligent children.

In terms of education, the absorption of knowledge in children usually takes in the form of formal and informal learning. Formal learning constitutes enrolling in school or entry to any similar educational institutions.

Informal education on the other hand takes place outside schools and is mediated by resources and people outside the classroom. Also the individual personality of children should be considered, before deciding on the appropriate educational toys and games for learning or simply, playing purposes.

It should also be noted that as children grow older, does necessarily mean the end of educational toys and games. As they are approaching the adolescent stage, children experience emotional upheavals, which can be stabilize to a certain degree, by engaging into games appropriate for their age, one of which is sports.
There are thousands upon thousands of scholarships and institutions dedicated to give free education for all. The question however is: "With countless scholarships opportunities up for grab, are there enough for all?"

With is question at hand, let us look at several types of scholarship opportunities that would somehow give us the final view that there are enough scholarship opportunities for all.

Academic scholarship

The most popular type of scholarship grant is the academic scholarship. Here, applicants must be eligible to keep up with the academic requirements of the sponsor. Most applicants who take this type of scholarship can either be highly proficient in academics or an average person so long as grades can be maintained.

Athletic scholarship

Next to academic scholarship, the athletic scholarship is the second most popular type of scholarship that is up for grab. Applicants of athletic scholarship are usually chosen but it is still open for all. The opportunities here are endless since there are several types of activities you might be proficient with that would fall to athletic scholarship. However, since there are many athletes would want to finish college through athletic scholarship, there is a fierce competition between applicants.

Colleges and universities give both the academic and athletic scholarships but there are other institutions that give these types of scholarships.

Institutional scholarships

Here, the sponsors are groups or institutions who willingly devote themselves in providing students with the opportunities to finish college without worrying about the finances. Institutions can have their special groups to answer. There are institutions that grant scholarships to Hispanics, African-Americans, minorities, women, disabled, and Native Americans. There are also institutions that provide free education on a specific field such as Nursing, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Business, and Sciences among others.

Institutions would also refer to religious groups that could provide free education to their members who qualify for the grant. It would also include large corporations that stretch their services in providing students with free education. This does not stop here, after finishing a degree, the scholars will surely get an immediate job under the same company that gave then their free education.

Institutions can also include local governments. Like large corporations, becoming a local government scholarship would provide you an immediate job soon after you finish the degree.

Institutions would also include unions that provide free educational opportunities to children of their members.

All these could give each scholarship seeking every chance to get free education. The task, however, is to make sure that you get the right scholarship suited to your need. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. It may be used only in its entirety with all links included.
The US government has always been a benevolent one that appreciates that the future of the country is in the hands of its youth. Education is the best means of ensuring that the youth of the country grow to be respectful citizens who can contribute to the society in some way or other.

One of the efforts to this cause has been the free grant that the federal government provides for tertiary education to the various schools and certified education programs. These free grants are meant especially for those people who would like to avail of further education but do not have the financial capability to fund their own education.

The US federal government provides these grants to a wide variety of educational institutions. These include various schools, educational programs, universities, small arts colleges, technical schools, vocational programs, trade schools and even community colleges. The magnanimous sum of $67 billion is distributed among the institutions that have been identified each year. This is done in the form of loans, grants, campus-based aid and the like. It is the duty of the educational institutions to forward these grants to the eligible and deserving students in their programs. The dissemination of these grants could be done each semester, trimester or quarter based on the educational institution.

The federal Pell Grant is one of the many grants that form a part of this philanthropic exercise. The beneficiaries of this grant are not expected to return the aid in any manner. The specific amount of money that is doled out per student depends on the financial need of the individual but the maximum amount that can be given to one particular person is dictated by the Congress each year.

Free grants also come in the guise of campus based aid programs. The known associated for this kind of a free grant are the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Federal Perkins Loan programs. These kinds of grants are provided to the programs that are managed directly by the financial aid office.

For a student to be awarded a free grant, some eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled. The beneficiary needs to be a citizen of the United States or an eligible non-citizen and should have a valid social security number. A high school diploma or a General Education Development certificate is a must. If these are not available a special test for 'ability to benefit' can be used which the expectant student needs to pass. To avail the grant the student needs to enroll in the program as a regular student and apply for the grant later. Male students in the age group of 18 to 25 years need to register for 'selective' and be 'eligible' or 'partially eligible' on the drug conviction question. <bio>Discover more articles about school and education by visiting http://www.total-education.com </bio>

Nowadays, it is impossible to get a job without a post secondary degree. The reason being that everyone has a degree so employers view having a post secondary degree as the new bare minimum. A degree in higher education should therefore be your top priority after you graduate from highschool. Also, if you think the program of your choice doesn't have an online equivalent, think again - there are over 1,500 different types of online degrees you can choose from.

1. Associate Degrees

The lowest form of post secondary education is the associate degree. While you will be able to get a good paying job with such a degree you won't necessarily be able to advance beyond that position into a position of more authority. For example, an associate degree in nursing might get you the night shift as a nurse, but not the lead nurse or hospital coordinator. This is equivalent to a two year program.

2. Bachelor's Degrees

As an undergraduate you will complete a major that lasts three or four years in study. The most common Bachelors that are awarded are in the arts and sciences.

3. PHD Masters Degree

A doctorate is the highest level of education and places you at the same level of knowledge and competancy as an instructor. With minimal additional training you would be qualified to teach the subject to students of your own.

4. About E-Learning

E-learning is an all-encompassing term generally used to refer to computer-enhanced learning, although it is often extended to include the use of mobile technologies such as PDAs and MP3 players. It may include the use of web-based teaching materials and hypermedia in general, multimedia CD-ROMs or web sites, discussion boards, collaborative software, e-mail, blogs, wikis, computer aided assessment, educational animation, simulations, games, learning management software, electronic voting systems and more, with possibly a combination of different methods being used.

Along with the terms learning technology and Educational Technology, the term is generally used to refer to the use of technology in learning in a much broader sense than the computer-based training or Computer Aided Instruction of the 1980s. It is also broader than the terms Online Learning or Online Education which generally refer to purely web-based learning. In cases where mobile technologies are used, the term M-learning has become more common. <bio>For more great online education related articles and resources check out http://onlineeducationadvice.info </bio>

With the daily challenges posed by economic difficulty and other threats, governments in developing countries are working very hard to ensure that their educational institutions continue to provide a standard of education that can make its citizens at part with the educated people in more economically sound countries. To a certain extent, these Third World countries have succeeded in their crusade for quality education. The problem is that a good education comes with a price and it is often a price that many people in Third World countries are not able to pay. So, although quality education is available, it is still unreachable for a large segment of a developing country's population.

Certainly, it is impressive to see that developing countries have educational institutions that are world-class and which offer education that can rival that provided by wealthier nations around the world. There is a clear recognition of the role that education plays in overcoming hardship and poverty. However elusive it may be, a good education is still viewed as the best way to a better life.

Among the developing countries that have superb educational systems are such "emerging markets" as Mexico, India, Brazil, Turkey, the Philippines, Egypt, South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand, much of South America and several of the Persian Gulf Arab States.

Obviously, the poorest of the poor in these countries will have a hard time getting into the best schools in their vicinity. Of course, there are always scholarship programs available but these are few. Besides, people at the lowest spectrum of the economic scale are more concerned with more pressing issues related to their mere survival such as where to find food and money for clothing and shelter. After these basic needs are met, that is the only time that parents can really focus on their children's schooling. In fact, studies indicate that once their basic economic needs are met, the first priority of most poor families is how to send their children to a good school.

India recently launched EDUSAT, an educational program aimed at giving quality education to even its poorest citizens. Among the group's first initiatives is the development of a $100 laptop which the government hopes to distribute by 2007 to public schools all over the country. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://4educationinformation.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://4kidsandteens.com/ and http://iweatherworld.com/ </bio>

When you're in the UK and looking for the perfect educational toy to gift your child, or your favorite nephew, you don't have to look hard because most of the educational toys that are manufactured by the likes of LeapFrog, Hasbro, Jakks Pacific and Disney are being distributed worldwide. Access to educational toys is so open that anyone, even people from the outskirts of the UK are able to buy it if they have the resources.

Buying the right kind of toy for a child is probably as difficult as solving a major Math equation. Do you get something that he or she would appreciate for the longer term until he or she grows a little older, or do you gift something that is the "in" thing now? Given the busy times nowadays, most people would tell you to just go for the easy way and get an educational toy.

This way, you don't have to worry if the toy you're giving has sufficient value because you're sure the child will learn a lot of things from it.

First, find out if the educational toy you're thinking of buying is actually appropriate for the child you are giving it to. That is, if it's learning level coincides with the child's age range. All educational toy boxes carry this information outside, to guide you in your purchase.

Second, when in doubt, ask. Most toy stores have little information kiosks where the educational toys being sold are made accessible to the public for testing and trials. These kiosks also almost always have a representative from the toy store who will gladly explain and demonstrate what each toy can do and for what ages they are best suited.

Third, don't get carried away. While it may be tempting to buy the largest and hippest educational toy in the bunch, it would be best to, instead, buy something that will bring the greatest value to the child.

When buying educational toys in the UK, there really is no secret formula. Just get the toy that is appropriate to the child's age and base your choice on what you think would best interest him or her. If the child is into experiments, you can get him or her a science and discovery toy. If the child shows some adeptness at communication, you can get him or her a story reader or a speller.

There are many toy stores in the UK that carry brands that make educational toys. Finding the right gift shouldn't be too difficult. <bio>Low Jeremy maintains http://Educational-Toys.ArticlesForReprint.com. Do you get something that he or she would appreciate for the longer term until he or she grows a little older, or do you gift something that is the andquot;inandquot; thing now?

For a great number of reasons, having a post-secondary education is vital to furthering your career-- no matter your field or profession. In today's business world, your options for career advancement can be limited --or sometimes eliminated-- by not having a post-secondary education. Many types of careers actually require post-secondary education as a prerequisite for entry to that particular field. Even in those occupations where post-secondary education is not a mandatory prerequisite, it is certainly viewed in a favourable light by employers.

When employers go through the process of screening job applicants, they look to find candidates who have the skills and knowledge to effectively perform the essential functions of the job that is available. However, employers also want to select candidates who are likely to have long-term success within the company, giving them reason to remain with the company for a long period of time. In other words, employers try to reduce the potential for turnover by hiring highly qualified candidates who not only have a genuine interest in the job for which they are applying, but also an ability to grow and expand to new and higher positions.

When you have completed a post-secondary education in your chosen field, you demonstrate to employers that (a) you have formal training that has prepared you with at least entry-level skills related to that occupation and (b) you are committed to pursuing a long-term career in that particular field. The fact that you started and completed a post-secondary education program gives employers confidence in both your qualifications and your commitment. Because of this, the completion of post-secondary education in the field is often the deciding factor in the hiring process.

Even if you were able to gain employment in the field of your choice without any post-secondary education, it is certainly in your best interest to pursue continuing education if your want to advance your career. By pursuing advanced education related to your career field, you will acquire skills that help you perform better in your job. Additionally, your actions will demonstrate to your employer your continued commitment to your chosen profession.

Having a post-secondary education can also benefit you financially. Without a post-secondary education, there are a number of jobs for which you will not even be eligible for consideration. For many positions, the starting salary differs depending on the level of education that you have completed. Many times, pay raises and promotions are also tied to completion of post-secondary education programs. Therefore, while you might be able to gain entry to a particular occupation without a post-secondary education, you can't move up --or make more money-- until you complete additional studies. <bio>Enter the exciting world of travel by training at triOS College!
When doing research into your post-secondary education options, you will quickly learn that there is an almost overwhelming number of options for both career training and obtaining an advanced degree. No matter where you live, it is likely that you have access to number of both private and traditional colleges which offer programs of study related to your area of interest.

There are many differences between private colleges and traditional colleges. One major difference between these two types of institutions is the quality of education. For those focused on obtaining the high quality skills and training required for career success in the shortest and most efficient manner, private colleges tend to be the better choice. There are a number of benefits associated with private colleges.

Benefit: Smaller Classes

Classes at private colleges tend to be much smaller than those of traditional colleges. When classes are smaller, the instructor-to-student ratio is much lower, allowing for more individual attention in class. The learning environment also tends to be much more interactive in smaller classes than in larger ones.

Benefit: Emphasis on Teaching Rather than Research

In traditional colleges, faculty members are not only assigned to teach classes, but are also required to emphasize academic research. Typically, faculty members in traditional colleges are required to devote a significant amount of time and energy to conducting and publishing academic research designed to advance the body of knowledge in their particular area of expertise.

In private colleges, however, the primary role of a faculty member is to teach classes and to help students acquire the skills they need to become successful in their chosen fields. As a working adult, it can be much more beneficial to learn in an environment where teaching, not research, is the primary focus.

Benefit: Emphasis on Skills Development

Most private colleges tend to emphasize the development of practical skills that can be applied in the workplace. For working adults who are seeking post-secondary education as a means of advancing their careers, this is of the utmost importance.

Many traditional colleges focus more on preparing learners for graduate-level study. Because of this, the training is often more theoretical in nature than the training one would receive at a private college.

Benefit: Responsiveness to Change

When seeking post-secondary training that can be directly applicable in the workplace, it is important to make sure that the training you receive is as up-to-date is possible.

Because private colleges function more along the lines of a business model than of an educational institution, private colleges tend to be quicker to adapt their curricula to the rapidly changing demands of the job market than do traditional colleges. <bio>Train for your future or expand your skills at triOS College.
Students who are not physically sitting in a class room to get their education are taught using technology based instructional systems designed for remote access. This system is known as distance learning or distance education. Students and teachers communicate with each other through printed materials or electronic media or using a technology that provides real-time communications.

Distance learning uses regular mail for correspondence. Real-time or offline internet resources are also used in this system. Television or radio is used to make educational broadcasts to reach the students of distance learning.

Isaac Pitman used the very first modern distance learning system in 1840 to teach shorthand through correspondence.

Since 1946, correspondence courses in the distance-learning mode were offered by the University of South Africa, which is one of the oldest distance learning universities in the world. In UK, the Open University was founded in 1969.

For-profit institutions, non-profit organizations, public and privates institutions are offering degree programs and courses in distance learning. There is varying level of accreditation for such institutions. Some of the institutions in USA have very little focus from the countries outside and some of them are mere diploma mills, which are mostly fraudulent.

The distance-learning program was greatly benefited in the twentieth century by using Internet, television and radio.

Even though the presence of a student is not compulsory in distance learning, with the advent of technology, physical presence or lack of it has become an option. In distance learning, electronic classrooms can be classified as off campus or on campus. It is known as institutions using a mode of delivery, which is flexible. Find more info at http://www.distance-learning4u.info

In many cases, students do sit in traditional classrooms and they are connected to a teacher in a distant classroom through videoconference. This technology increases the power of teaching and learning.

During its history, distance learning has passed through the experience of four to five different methods of teaching using the technology available at that time. The technology that was used were print, video/audio broadcasts, teleconference using video/audio technology, instruction aided by computers and computer based broadcasting. In developing nations, the radio is used for distance learning and considered to be a very powerful medium. In India the virtual university and distance learning centers use FM broadcasting which is very popular among the students.

Earlier models of distance learning used regular mail to dispatch written materials. Among the developing nations, this method is still used in distance learning.

In distance learning both full time and part time studies are possible but most of the students prefer part time studies. Even though distance learning is offered at various levels, it is the most popular option for university level studies.

Distance learning is also known as correspondence courses since the teacher and the student corresponded through the regular mail. For children living in remote areas secondary and primary education programs are available.

Testing material caused trouble for distance learning right from its inception. The problem occurs when the student has to complete the assignment and undergo testing. In distance learning a student is completely removed from supervision during the evaluation period. <bio>Lucy Bartlett is a proud contributing author.
Education today is more expensive than it has ever been. In order to even be able to consider taking some post-secondary education you need to have the financial backing to do so. In fact, many students plan on working part or even full time while they go to school, but this can quickly lead to disaster because the student will be so busy that they will suffer burnout and be unable to juggle their responsibilities.

1. Money From Parents

The oldest, tried and tested method of paying your way through college is by getting money from mom and dad. Of course, nowadays this is more and more uncommon. Some parents invest in educational plans to surpass the heavy burden they might encounter later on.

2. Passport To Education

As a special incentive for having a B or better grade point average (typically, 75 percent or better overall GPA) you may be rewarded by your highschool by a grant that does not have to be repayed. The good news is, it's free money but the bad news is that it is usually for very small amounts of money, $300 or so - barely enough to cover one class and the cost of one textbook. Still, something is better than nothing and you can't argue with things that are free.

3. Scholarship Grants

Scholarship grants are a great way to finance your way through your post secondary education as they can pay for up to the complete amount that you require to go to school. The downside is that you will have to adhere to strict rules or else you might lose the scholarship entirely. College scholarships may be in a form of academic scholarship, athletic scholarships and other forms. There are also college scholarships that are funded by the government.

4. Ask Your Academic Advisor

Both your highschool academic advisor and the advisors at the post secondary school you plan on attended should be consulted. They are often a wealth of information and will be able to provide more information concicely about the subject that you are interested in than you would otherwise be able to achieve by yourself, given the same amount of time. Plus, theyre always free to consult and a simple consultation might save you lots of trouble in the long run. <bio>For more great scholarship related articles and resources check out http://bestschoolloans.info </bio>
