The Commonwealth of Virginia and Governor Timothy M. Kaine have for some time been encouraging Virginia Schools high school students to take more rigorous coursework. The Governor recently announced the pilot Commonwealth Scholars Program and promotional campaign to underscore this commitment to excellence in Virginia's youth.

Eleven divisions within the Virginia schools initially will participate in the new program. The required rigorous coursework goes beyond the minimum graduation requirements for a Standard Diploma, but falls below the college preparation coursework requirements for an Advanced Studies Diploma. Students who complete the core coursework under the Virginia schools program will be recognized as Commonwealth Scholars at graduation and eligible to receive a special diploma seal that recognizes their achievement. Instructional support will be provided to all students who participate.

A two-year, $300,000 State Scholars Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Education funds the Commonwealth Scholars Program. Virginia schools were one of eight states selected in a national competition to participate in the federal grant program.

The Virginia schools divisions were chosen based on their interest in the program and their ability to meet the requirements of the grant. The eleven Virginia schools' divisions are:

•Albemarle County •Alexandria •Bristol •Carroll County •Chesterfield County •Henry County •Lancaster County •Nottoway County •Richmond •Roanoke County •Scott County

The Virginia Career Education Foundation, a statewide business and education partnership, will lead the Virginia schools initiative. They will work with participating school divisions to develop partnerships with local businesses and to promote the program. Private sector volunteers will be trained to make presentations to the students, focusing on how the rigorous high school courses will improve their post-high school career opportunities.

The Commonwealth Scholars Program is based on a core course of study that includes:

•Four years of English; •Three years of mathematics -- Algebra I and II, and geometry; •Three years of science -- biology, chemistry and physics; •Three and half years of social studies -- selected from United States and Virginia history, world history, geography, economics and financial literacy, United States and Virginia government; •Two years of health and physical education; and •Two years of language other than English.

Research has shown that there is a strong correlation between the academic rigor of high school coursework taken and postsecondary degree completion. One example is mathematics -- 40 percent of students who took Algebra II in high school earned a bachelor's degree, as compared to only 23 percent of graduates who stopped taking high school mathematics at geometry.

Governor Kaine has confidence that the new Commonwealth Scholars Program will encourage many Virginia schools students to continue onto college after graduation. He has thrown down the gauntlet and issued a challenge to those Virginia schools students who are not on track for an Advanced Studies Diploma. His hope is that they will reach higher and strive to move from competence to excellence. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
The rigorous coursework in the Advanced Placement (AP) program has proven to build a good foundation for high school students, who plan to attend college after graduation. Most college and universities give course credit for AP exam scores of three or higher -- students score from one to five on the exam. Even students who score one or two on the exam have proven to be better prepared for college-level work, than students who do not participate in the program.

A report by the national College Board, which oversees the AP program across the nation, was recently released. It showed the number of students taking the exams and the diversity representation, though it concentrates only on Hispanic, African American, and Native American student groups.

For the Texas schools, participation in the AP exams has increased by 61 percent since the year 2001. Hispanics and African American students, however, were underrepresented in the AP exams.

Texas schools African Americans students had the biggest gap between total student population in the state and the percentage taking the AP exams. The African American students make up 13.5 percent of the total population, but only 6.8 percent took the exams -- a disparity of almost half of the African American students opting not to participate in the AP program.

The Hispanic gap is closing in the Texas schools with 35 percent Hispanic students in the total population and 32.2 percent taking the exams.

The Texas schools have totally eliminated any gap for its Native American students with 0.3 percent of the population and 0.5 percent taking the AP exams.

Texas schools' Commissioner of Education Shirley J. Neeley stated that they need to do a better job encouraging its minority students in middle school, so that they elect to take the AP classes and exams in high school.

The Texas schools students taking AP exams last year were 54,706 Caucasians, 34,976 Hispanics, 10,007 Asian Americans, 6,826 African Americans, 514 Native Americans, and 5,234 who marked "other" or gave no response for ethnicity. Minorities and "other" made up about 49 percent of the Texas schools testing population, as compared to the national average of 33.5 percent.

There were 204,403 AP exams taken by Texas schools students last year, many taking multiple exams. They scored three or higher on 99,428 of them. The Texas schools designated:

•8,861 students as AP Scholars for scoring three or higher on three or more exams; •3,152 as AP Scholars with Honors for: 1)An average score of at least 3.25 on all exams, and 2)Scores of three or higher on four or more exams; •4,447 as AP Scholars with Distinction for: 1)An average score of at least 3.5 on all exams, and 2)Scores of three or higher on five or more exams;

The national College Board named 752 Texas schools students as National Scholars for earning an average score of at least four on all exams, with scores of four or higher on eight or more AP exams.

Though these results are impressive, the Texas schools know they must continue to expand the overall enrollment, as well as increase the diversity levels in the AP program. State incentives make the AP program more accessible to students by lowering the per exam fee by $30, so that no student pays more than $52 for an AP exam. Further, combined funding from federal, state and local subsidies reduces the per exam fee to only $5 for low-income students.

Additionally, the Texas schools have expanded its course offerings to entice more students to participate and used state incentives to train more teachers for the AP program.

With post-graduation success depending so much on a college degree, the AP coursework and exams are essential for all students to succeed in college. Minorities must be equally represented in Advanced Placement classes. The Texas schools still have work to do. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
The Philadelphia Education Fund has been in operation for 20 years. A nonprofit organization, the Fund partners with school districts (including the Philadelphia schools), other nonprofit organizations, businesses and individuals to provide scholarships for students in the Philadelphia schools system. Its purpose is to initiate and implement innovative educational programs, of which they have several. They work to improve the quality of teachers in the Philadelphia schools, conduct educational research, and engage the community in school reform. The Fund is one of the largest of 86 education funds that are affiliated with the national Public Education Network.

One of the programs that are sponsored by the Fund is the Philadelphia Scholars Program that awards Last Dollar Scholarships to Philadelphia schools students. In June 2006, they awarded $800,000 in scholarships to 285 schools students.

Over the last 16 years, the Fund has awarded more than $5 million to students, who attend 15 high schools of the Philadelphia schools system -- many of these youth were the first in their families to attend college. Scholarships range from $200 to $4,000, helping to fill the gap between a student's financial aid package and actual college costs. Scholarships cover tuition, fees, books and transportation. They are renewable for a maximum of six years for students attending accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities across the nation.

Scholarship funding is from Philadelphia donors (many of which are the city's most prominent philanthropists in the financial industry), but includes hundreds of individuals, businesses, and organizations. The most active donor is John C. Bogle, chairman of the National Constitution Center and former chairman and founder of the Vanguard Group. Besides wanting to make college a reality for Philadelphia schools students, Bogle hopes that these same children will one day invest in Philadelphia's next generation.

Once such group, which raises funds for the Last Dollar Scholarship program, is the Scholars Advisory Committee. To date, they have raised $16 million. A. Morris Williams, Jr. chairs the committee, is the president of Williams and Company, and was formerly an executive of Morgan Stanley. He and John Neff, a committee member and former managing partner of Wellington Management Company, are the two driving forces behind the Philadelphia Scholars Program. Together, they provided the seed money for the program's launch.

Williams wants to help the Philadelphia schools students reach their goals, hoping to inspire others to support higher education in Philadelphia. Neff wants to give something back to the community that has been so good to him, and sees supporting education as a way to give students an opportunity for a better life.

Most investors in the scholarship program for Philadelphia schools students recognize the something must be done to help the city's youth succeed. Without the opportunity of a higher education for today's students, Philadelphia will be left wanting for an educated workforce in the future. The donors' generosity helps the Philadelphia schools students have a better future, as well as helping the city succeed tomorrow. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
With the increasing cost of college education, you surely would want to know the different possibilities wherein you can study and earn a degree without paying so much or without paying at all. Sounds familiar?

What about scholarship for college students?

Now that's more familiar.

But getting familiar with the phrase would not give you any result and would not even let you finish college for free. You still have to know the types of scholarship for college student so that you can choose which one is right for you.

You see, not all scholarships are created equal. Some have certain criteria and others have certain requirements. Each has its own sets of rules for qualification set by the sponsor. But for the basic knowledge about the different college scholarships offered, here are the things you should know:

Academic scholarship for college students

This is probably the most famous type of college scholarship. Here, students are awarded with free education provided that they pass an entrance examination for scholarship or finished high school with honors or, passed whatever requirements the sponsor have set. Most colleges and universities offer this type of scholarship. Academic scholars would have to maintain certain grade to keep their education free.

For private organizations that offer academic scholarship, rules on maintaining certain grade are less strict than colleges and universities. This though does not mean that private organizations are more lenient to their scholars. This only means that colleges and universities can watch the status of their academic scholars closely since they have the access to the school records.

Athletic scholarship for college students

Finishing college through athletic scholarship is another way to study for less or even for free. It is a given fact that many students dream of becoming an athlete on their school mainly because athletes are awarded with free education. The thing is: since it may be easier to play sports than to become excellent in academics, competition among students is fierce.

Meanwhile, there are private institutions that award athletic scholarships to students. And their system works the same as colleges and university grants.

Departmental scholarship for college students

Many college and university departments offer scholarships for two reasons: to attract more students to study in their department, and to maintain students who wish to move to another department.

These 3 are not the only scholarship grants that could bet. But basically, these 3 are given most of the time. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. It may be used only in its entirety with all links included.
Before the emergence of television and radio, print media dominated the majority of known societies. However, the technological innovations that were introduced during from the 19th till the 21st Century have created a new global marketplace, transcending national borders and culture barriers. This proliferation of news and their homogenous nature is evident in almost all media mediums used and it is far more forceful and dynamic than the print press news initiators could have ever imagined. Nevertheless, although the technological changes that have occurred have increased the speed and the amount of the exchanged information, especially though the use of the Internet, it has been almost impossible for scholars to accept a universal definition of what constitutes today the news, or how this vast increase in outlets and media will influence news production, distribution, or consumption in the future.

Regardless of how well-designed and targeted a message may be, or what it may desire to transmit, it will not succeed its original purpose unless it is disseminated to the selected targets through the most appropriate medium. What is the appropriate medium? One that complements the message, one that addresses individuals consistently, and most importantly, one that delivers the message at the right time, when the target is most receptive. By selecting the most appropriate medium, the message can generate a positive reaction from the target, transform it to a prospective audience, and finally mature it to a friendly receiver.

According to media scholars, one valuable lesson from the early ages of news release has been the effective selection and combination of the appropriate media vehicles, known in contemporary marketing studies as the media mix. This process has proven to be complex, while it required careful identification of the target segment. Vested upon this fact, lies another important realization. The media environment has been changing almost cyclically in reaction to technological, economic, market, cultural, and political forces. Contemporary media scholars, if they wish to acquire an important lesson from the past communication practices, have to take under consideration that the latest forms of news gathering, have turned their current focus on entertainment and andquot;soft news.andquot; This shift is not a recent outcome. It has happened in the past and it's based on the notion of complying with the existing consumer beliefs, the social norms that prevail, the economic models that emerge, and of course the competitive trends in the media industry.

This news quest resulted in an important shift in the contemporary journalists' work. Today, in comparison to the past, the desired audiences tend to have an active and not passive role during the news consumption process. This shift is strengthened by the fact that citizens globally are aware the news hidden purpose. News nowadays are not disseminated, as indented originally, to educate, unite and inform the societies they penetrate, but rather to entertain, mislead and hide the important essence of the messages from public attention. News has ceased to be news compared with its past definition. Media scholars, along with today's consumers, must research and understand the underlying principles of this noticeable change before attempting to alter the scenery and claim back the news' utility. It's not only another public interest topic. It's a practice that will alter consumers' present role and the future course of media practices. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://letstalkaboutbusiness.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://letstalkaboutfinance.com/ and http://thegemstonecenter.com/ </bio>

There are more articles than you can count on the internet that all you need to know these days is a mode to search for the right kind of information. That being said, there is a scramble among the different website owners to check for the data being searched by the users so that they can direct these gullible users into visiting their websites and thereby generating revenue for them. The scholarly articles are the ones published by academic publishers or professional organizations.

The targeted audience for these kinds of scholarly articles is usually consistent of specialists in professions and academic disciplines. These scholarly articles are usually subscribed by the individual scholars or university libraries. These articles are taken to be the ones with validation by the academics. Scholarly articles in publications receive what is called in the academic world as peer review and they are authentic.

Before the scholarly articles are in for publication, it is reviewed and accepted by the scholars in the respective field to judge for the scholarly merit, the research value and accuracy. Scholarly articles are normally indicative of the credentials of the particular author and also explain in detail the methodology of research and list the respective footnotes or references used to write the article.

There is the difficulty in order to get to the articles. This is because people write their own articles these days and there have been changes all along the way. There are not a lot of people who have the talent for placing the keywords carefully in the text. There are however more than just writing articles but also placing them on the internet so that they require optimization to get the right keywords in the right places to cater to the search results in the searches initiated by the users.

To find scholarly articles can be quite daunting if you are not aware of what to look for. There are a few for starters as given here. They are written with more scholarly jargon that is understood mostly by the academic fraternity. The scholarly articles are more structured which are likely to include sections like abstract, literature review and conclusion. This is one of the ways to weed out the normal articles that do not follow any specific structure. These articles are also supported by graphs, statistics and photographs. The articles also provide a bibliography that documents the research and possibility for further research. <bio>Roel Sundiam writes articles for http://www.articles3000.com.
If you've taken a first-year college history course - or read through a basic history textbook - you may have noticed a small gap. It's only a thousand years or so.

For a long time, the history of Western culture was told like this: around the fifth century BCE, math, philosophy and science developed, thanks to the hard work of some very smart Greeks such as Thales, Plato, Archimedes and Aristotle. Then Rome took over Greece, and Rome fell, and things went dark for a thousand years or so. Then the Renaissance came along, and thinkers like Galilei and Johannes Kepler took up where the Greeks had, in effect, left off.

Thanks to new historical research - and broader awareness of non-Western countries and of the very rich intellectual cultures being developed east of the Urals - this picture of the history of math, philosophy and science is changing, slowly. But still, teachers tend all too often to skip over one of the most interesting stories in intellectual history - the way that math and logic, including the best insights of Greek logicians, became the property of Muslim countries during the long twilight period, from Rome's fall to the Renaissance, when most Europeans could no longer read Greek. Without the work of these great Muslim scholars, math today might be a very different animal. The Islamic Arab Empire, beginning in the eighth century, was a world intellectual capital, and Arabic became a language of learning to rival Latin. Some of the best mathematical reasoning in the world was done here.

We may as well start with Muhammad ibn Musa al-Hwarizmi (9th century), a Persian astronomer deeply learned in the mathematical lore of ancient India. From his name (in its Latin form) we get the word algorithm, and from one of his book titles we derive algebra. It's appropriate that he should be associated with the history of algebra - after all, his books preserved most of what the ancient world knew about algebra (as well as his own brilliant innovations), and his works helped to spread the use of Arabic numerals (the numbers we know and use today) to the West, thus making algebra a good deal more feasible. (To understand why this is important, imagine trying to do algebra problems while using Roman numerals: XIIa times XXVb equals c? No, thanks.)

Then there's Al-Karaji, who around 1000AD invented the proof by mathematical induction - one of the most basic logical maneuvers in math. Poet Omar Khayyam, writing in the twelfth century, laid the groundwork for non-Euclidean geometry. During this period, Muslim mathematicians invented spherical trigonometry, figured out how to use decimal points with Arabic numerals (though the decimal itself had long been invented by Hindu mathematicians), and developed cryptography, algebraic calculus, analytic geometry, among other things.

As important as any of these contributions, though, was the rescue of Aristotle's texts from obscurity by Arab scholars. For long periods during the middle ages, Aristotle was considered by Western intellectuals as one of the world's great thinkers - but most of them hadn't read him. The few of his works that had survived the twin falls of Greece and Rome were available in sometimes poor, or rather freehanded and inaccurate, Latin translations, and many of his most important works weren't available at all. Here and there a Greek manuscript survived, but almost nobody, at this point, could read Greek. (Widespread teaching of Greek had to wait for the Renaissance - even famously learned scholars such as the poet Petrarch struggled over it.)

The same went for such seminal works as Euclid's Elements, the greatest known treatise on geometry. During this long period, when it was thought that these brilliantly logical works were gone forever, Islamic scholars kept their own copies and translations. When European scholars began traveling to Spain and Sicily (then under Muslim rule) during the 12th century, these works and others were rediscovered in the West, leading to great intellectual ferment, including the theology of Thomas Aquinas - and to an understanding of logic that helped the discipline of mathematics to survive and, slowly, thrive again in the Western countries.<bio>Math Made Easy provides Math help for Algebra help, Geometry help, math homework help using math online tutorial services and math tutorial cd so you can watch your math scores soar.</bio>

While there are a number of fine energy courses and certified or degreed programs in the various universities and colleges for those who want to make energy efficiency their career in some form or other, there are also free energy courses for those who simply want to make some energy-efficient improvements in their own homes. Here are some ideas on where to find these credit or non-credit energy courses.

The University of Oregon, for example, offers online energy courses as part of its degreed program for graduates as well as undergraduates. Its commitment to a healthy and energy efficient environment is spelled out on its Web site. Pointing out that the way in which we are exponential using a finite amount of fossil fuel and other non-renewable resources is dooming our successors, the University offers energy courses for those who want to stop this harmful tide.

Included in these energy courses are a basic physics course that teaches the ins and outs of how energy and the environment work in concert with each other. The next course teaches students about renewable energy resources and the other green energy resources that can be put into place. An environment studies course follows these prerequisites, teaching quantitative methods of improving the environment. The study of our population growth and its impact on finite resources is the topic of another of the energy courses. One course is dedicated to the study of the depletion of our ozone. One of the basic energy courses offered on the Web or in Oregon classrooms is a brief look at the basics of fossil fuel =96 how it works, how much we have of it, and how it harms the environment. The University also teaches a laboratory class on solar radiation and its use as a renewable energy.

The University actually offers a complete program of environmental studies. Building on a tradition several decades long of research and activism in the area of energy efficiency and environment improvements, the Oregon campuses have packaged their energy courses into a complete environmental program. Its mission is to train energy-efficiency leaders who can creatively solve program, think critically, and, after empowering and instructional energy courses, become responsible and productive citizens.

The University of Oregon energy courses and environmental program are actually interdisciplinary, promoting dialogue that crosses borders and promotes collaboration. More than 100 faculty members participate in these energy courses and activities. They are scattered over thirty campuses and dozens of departments. This degree program enables students to not only take energy courses from scholars of world class renown but also work and learn along side noted researchers. They can develop concrete energy efficiency skills and analytic capabilities as well as gain valuable and relevant hands on skills. These energy courses and this program can then lead to government careers, or work in various non-profit organizations, teaching institutions or private industries.

Energy courses can help one homeowner save her or his own money and energy. They can help a green-energy enthusiast start a satisfying and lucrative career in energy efficiency and assessment. They can also help save the environment for us all. <bio>James Copper is a writer for http://www.propertycareerskills.co.uk </bio>

For generations, the favorite type of recreation in my family has been golf. I remember being a small child and trailing my great-grandfather, my grandfather and my own father around the golf course near my mother's place of work. Come to think of it, my only memory of my great grandfather is that of him with a golf club in his hands. Actually, the same goes for my grandfather as well. I remember that as a young boy, the first time I ever received applause in the classroom was when I talked about the history of golf. I guess everyone was surprised to see an eight year old knowing so much about an adult's game. Actually, I can still remember it vividly now.

The Chinese, French, Dutch and Scottish all have solid claims to the origin of golf. As early as the year 1297, on February 26 of that year to be exact, golf was already mentioned in Holland in a city known as Loenen aan de Vecht. In that place, the Dutch played the game with a stick and a leather ball. The person who hit the ball at a target several hundred meters away the most number of times won the game.

Generally, golf is considered to be an invention of the Scots and the game was also mentioned sometime in the 15th century, particularly as part of a listing of laws that prohibited the playing of the game, then known as andquot;gowf.andquot; There is some belief among historical scholars that gowf may actually refer to shinty or hurling or even to modern field hockey. These scholars believe a game that consisted of putting a small ball in a hole in the ground using golf clubs had its origins in the Netherlands in the 17th century. The term golf is believed to have originated from the Germanic word for club.

Meanwhile, historians point out that the oldest playing golf course in the history of the world is located at Musselburgh. It was called the Old Links and evidence points to the fact that golf was played on this course way back in 1672 although some reporst say that Mary, Queen of Scots, actually played in that gold course as early as 1567. <bio>Kadence Buchanan writes articles for http://recreationsource.net/ - In addition, Kadence also writes articles for http://tipsforgardening.net/ and http://esportssource.net/ </bio>

If we are going to categorize the kinds of college scholarship programs available today, we can only sum they up into 2: college scholarship programs that are given by colleges and universities and college scholarship programs that are given by institutions or groups.

College Scholarship Programs from Colleges and Universities

There are 3 common types of college scholarship programs given by colleges and universities:

Academic scholarship

Athletic scholarship

Departmental scholarship

Academic scholarship is probably the most popular type of scholarship given by schools. This type of scholarship are given to students who either have performed well during their high school or have applied and passed for academic scholarship.

Athletic scholarship, another popular type of scholarship is given to those with exceptional talents in sports. But, this type of scholarship is not limited to athletes. There are students who are artists and stage performers. They can acquire this type of scholarship as well. Some schools have other names given to this.

Departmental scholarship is another type of college scholarship given by colleges and universities. This has two purposes: to attract students to enroll at the department and to keep good students from transferring to another department

College Scholarship Programs from institutions or groups.

Meanwhile, there are other scholarships given by institutions and other cause oriented groups. These are:

Corporations Religious groups Unions Associations Individuals Employers

Some corporations provide free college education to those who pass their requirements. Usually, corporations that offer scholarship programs are those who are willing to employ their scholars to work with them after they finish their degree.

Religious groups have been very active in giving their underprivileged members the chance to study and finish college education. These religious groups have funds allocated to their scholars.

Unions can provide college scholarships to the children of their members.

If you browse the internet and look for scholarship providers, you can find that there are sites that focus on giving students their chance to study for free. They are associations that exist to do this purpose.

Many individuals are opening their doors to those students who want to study and finish a degree. These individuals could be found online or offline. They could be one of your neighbors. They could be persons that could be found on the internet that solicit money from other individuals and then give the donations to students in need. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy. Yet homeschooling has been alive since the birth 20th century, it is not until now that it has spread in favor, with greater and greater families selecting to be more in charge of their kids' education. In the United States, it has been estimated that within reach there are about 3 million little kids that are entered in homeschooling schedules.

There are very many causes why dads pick out to have their youngster's instructed at home. A world of parents are worried with their children's safeness, precisely because of the unceasing up rise of evil in the junior high school surroundings. Interest about righteous ethics, principles, and irritation with the junior high school organization, are in addition some of the conditions that are associated in making this election. Scholars who are homeschooled are counted on to understand an assortment of categories. Scholars who are being taught at home sweet home are provided with the elements that they need for their learning.

There are a number of textbooks that are particularly aimed to conform to the needs of homeschoolers. Those students who are engaging in unit studies are armed with core curriculum publications or guides for each particular subject. This is a methodology of course of study that is centered around one issue at a time. This will cover all the information that they will need while they are studying a specific apt or topic.

Another way of learning is to structure the use of an already created course of study. This essentially is the curriculum that is used in population schools. Text Publications of this kind mainly give directions that are step by step, so learners will try to understand any issues following the lessons. An opulence of kids who are homeschooled likewise borrow their textbooks from libraries. This is a very economical way of acquiring all the pieces of advice that they'll need.

School kids who don't appreciate accessibility to libraries can also use the world wide web to acquire their text publications. There are a host of home pages on the net that buy and sell contemporary and used books. Published during the rift between the East and West Roman Empire, the Bible was said to have been commissioned by Emperor Constantine when he adopted Christianity. It also included the oldest version of the New Testament. The year 2005 had been the start of an ambitious project, but no new publicity had been announced regarding the manuscript's online bible version.

The online bible version was conceptualized with four phases: conservation, digitization, transcription, and academic commentary. The online Codex project aimed to reach a wider, and even worldwide audience through the internet. Tools developed for the manuscript's internet launch include a CD Rom, free website, and digital facsimile. The project is intended to be the standard of collaborative manuscript projects. However, the team behind the Codex project was reportedly having troubles with the first phase of the project and is not quite done yet. Conservation is essential to protect the Codex from damage during the project. Since the manuscript is old and very fragile, the conservation team faced the difficulty of restoring the manuscript to readable and presentable texts. Scot McKendrick, British Library's Medieval and Earlier Manuscripts Department chair, commented that the manuscript is very distinct from other old manuscripts. Given the size of each parchment (37 cm) and the text layering (four columns of Greek texts), it is a considerable feat to finish the conservation of all 400 pages in a short time.

Probably eyeing a 2010 or 2011 launch date, the Codex still have to undergo a digitization process. This involves taking digital images of the texts and the whole manuscript. Transcription is an essential part of the process since not everyone can understand Greek symbols. Scholars contribute commentaries and discussion as an added feature of the online bible. The process necessitates long hours of study from language and the principles from the Codex, to its similarities and differences from the present Bible. The religious and academic block had expressed their interest and excitement about the manuscript's online release. Due to its sensitive nature, only four scholars -- apart from those involve in the online bible project -- have seen the document up close. McKendrick estimated the whole Codex project to be over in about four years. Incidentally named after Mt. Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments, Codex Sinaiticus studies are now considered as the peak of religious learning. <bio>For more valuable information on Online Bible, please visit http://www.confessionism.com </bio>

If your affiliate marketing program isn't generating as much cash as you expected, you may be either doing it wrong or you don't have the right affiliate marketing program. You should look for the best affiliate program that will make you earn a substantial amount of income. It is a fact that many people who have chosen the best affiliate marketing program have earned a lot of money that they even considered to leave their regular jobs and fully concentrate on the affiliate marketing program business.

You may think that the best affiliate program is not easy to come by and that they can cost too much, but the best affiliate program is not really what it seems. You will find that the best affiliate marketing program is widely available in the Internet and can only cost you a small amount of money and some are even free.

Many people don't really see that a particular affiliate marketing program is the best even if they always cross paths with it on the Internet. So, in order to recognize that an affiliate marketing program is the best kind, you should know how to look for one.

There are three features that you should look for in an affiliate marketing program in order to know that it's the best kind and will generate a good amount of income for you.

The first feature you should look for in an affiliate marketing program is that it should be easy to duplicate. Choosing an affiliate program shouldn't just be easy to implement and get results in terms of income, it should also be easy for you and others to duplicate. Obviously, the reason for this is that you can duplicate your success and with this, you can duplicate your income.

The second feature that you should look for in an affiliate program is it should have tasks that have to be repeated everyday. This feature is a sign that the affiliate marketing program is one of the best and is an income earning potential. With tasks that have to be repeated daily, you can expect that this program will get you the best results from any marketing program.

The third feature that an affiliate marketing program will have is it will take in a lot of people who will otherwise not even give it a second look. This is because many people who see affiliate programs like this tend to think that it's just another affiliate program that doesn't work. In fact, affiliate programs like these are what super affiliates use in order to profit a lot of money from and spend little for it. These are the things that people usually ignore.

So, the next time you are looking for the best affiliate marketing program, consider these three features and look for them in an affiliate marketing program. You will see that it is widely available in the Internet and all you have to do is find the one that is suited to your website.

By having a good affiliate marketing program, you will be able to earn a lot of money from it. You should also expect that it will require little maintenance and will generate a substantial amount of income for you and your family. Who knows, maybe this is the answer to all your financial needs. With the best kind of affiliate marketing program, you will be able to earn a lot of money and worry less about maintaining your website. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
For many years, scholars have recognized the link between a good breakfast and improved student behavior and academic performance. Boston schools see breakfast as their first tool of success.

In 2000, the Boston schools partnered with the Massachusetts General Hospital to conduct a study on the impact of the federal School Breakfast Program in 16 of their elementary schools. Researchers found that a simple breakfast of milk, juice and cereal provides a fourth of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of key nutrients needed by growing children. Breakfast reduces hunger in the classroom and improves the overall nutrition of the students. They found that student behavior and grades improved, especially in mathematics. Students were able to spend more time on tasks and were more creative. Attendance improved. Students demonstrated better concentration facilities and improved emotional functioning. Trips to the nurse's office were drastically reduced.

Breakfast is by far the least expensive program for improving academic achievement, yet less than half the children eligible for the free or reduced price meals participate nationwide. One major obstacle is perception -- breakfast programs are viewed as programs for the "poor kids", a label many students wish to avoid. The other major obstacle is timing. Most schools across the country serve breakfast before the start of school -- children who arrive late due to tight morning schedules or on buses that are late, miss breakfast.

Many of the Boston schools have implemented innovative strategies to overcome the obstacles of perception and timing:

• Nearly 80 elementary schools now offer a universal breakfast -- all children eat together for free. The "poor kid" stigma has been eliminated.

• Participating Boston schools make breakfast a normal and expected part of the morning schedule -- no different than taking attendance.

• Boston schools serve breakfast in a variety of ways, using the method that works best for each individual school's culture. Methods range from serving cold or hot food in the classroom from a cooler or thermal pack; grab and go, brown bag breakfasts; sending students to the cafeteria after attendance; or a combination of these approaches.

• Involving the children makes the program more successful. Children rotating being in charge of food delivery to the classroom, after-breakfast trash removal, and returning leftovers to the cafeteria instills pride and responsibility. They become part of the program, not just participants.

The Boston schools have been recognized for their efforts in the School Breakfast Program. Project Bread, the state's leading anti-hunger organization and Boston schools partner in the School Breakfast Program, awards Boston schools that have achieved an 80 percent or greater student participation -- the point at which the breakfast program pays for itself with federal dollars.

In 2002, Project Bread recognized 10 elementary schools with the School Breakfast Excellence Award. Each award is $1,000 that the school's principal can use for any school-related expense.

The Boston schools have found that when their educators make it a priority and part of the daily schedule, it is more acceptable to the students and has a better chance to succeed. Breakfast is such an inexpensive way for Boston schools to achieve substantial academic results -- especially in the children who need it the most. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
When it comes time to expand your business there are two ways you can hire a work force without having to pay them out of pocket. You can start an affiliate program, which is a simple way to hire a motivated sales force and pay them based on their production. But one often overlooked method of expanding the online business is with a reseller program.

The difference between a reseller program and an affiliate program is that resellers usually buy your product or service from you at the price that you set then turn around and sell the product or service to their customers for a profit. There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of programs. I prefer affiliate programs, but there are businesses that can benefit from a reseller program.

If you sell products or services below market value then you can set up a reseller program with not much risk. One industry that is rife with resellers is the web hosting business. Many large web hosts have a reseller program where they sell a huge amount of web space for a low price. Their resellers then sell the hosting services for a profit. There are literally thousands of resellers out there for the various hosting companies online.

Almost any product or service can benefit from a reseller program. But most will benefit from an affiliate program too. With a reseller program you don't have to spend as much time and energy creating helpful materials. It's almost obligatory for an affiliate program. In fact, it is recommended if you want your affiliate program to succeed. Resellers tend to be a more independent lot and many like to add their own services to the products and services they purchase from you.

When it comes to deciding between a reseller program or an affiliate program, think long term. It is easier for a reseller to get out than for an affiliate. Affiliates tend to market heavily and may have ads, newsletters, websites, and other online marketing collateral built just around your products and services. And the personalities of resellers vs. affiliates must be considered as well. A reseller may demand more service from you whereas your affiliates will follow your lead more. Something else for you to consider.

So should you have an affiliate program or a reseller program. They both benefits and drawbacks. It just depends on your goals. <bio>Nick Stamoulis and experts at Brick Marketing provide companies with Internet Marketing services.
If you are interested in a leaseback program you need to consider if this is the right choice for you. Many people think that they would get along fine with a leaseback program, just to find out in the end that this was a huge mistake. You want to make sure that you are totally aware of what a leaseback program has to offer before you actually get started. If you do not, there is a chance that you could get involved with something that does not your investing needs. And as you can imagine, this is not a situation that you want to find yourself in.

First off, you should look at both the pros and cons of a leaseback program. For instance, the nice thing about a leaseback program is that you can make approximately 5 percent each year on your investment; and this is not a bad return if you can get it. But on the other side of things, there are other ways that you can make a lot more money in the real estate industry. You really need to consider what type of return on investment you are hoping to enjoy. If you want a steady investment, and are not concerned about a smaller number, a leaseback program could be right for you.

On the downside of things, leaseback programs are not popular all over the world. In fact, the European market is saturated with these deals, but the same thing cannot be said for what is going on in the United States. Before you get too hyped up about a leaseback program, make sure that you are aware of the way that it works in your area. You may find out that a leaseback program is not something that you will be able to easily do in the part of the world in which you live.

The bottom line is that you can make a good investment if you get involved with a leaseback program. But with that being said, it can turn out to be a nightmare if you are not aware of exactly what you are doing. Remember, a leaseback program could be your chance to make money with real estate, or your downfall and final transaction. To increase your chances of success, learn everything there is to know about leaseback programs before you get started.

For HDB Rental units in Singapore visit http://www.rentinsingapore.com/browse/all/all/all <bio>Kim Lee writes for Singapore rental portal http://www.RentInSingapore.com </bio>

Prospecting leads is hard enough but using an affiliate program makes it easier. What an affiliate program is, is where you are allowing other marketers to sell your product or program. You only have to pay when they make a sale. They have to cover all the marketing expenses out of their own pocket, which is great for you. The key is to make sure you reward your affiliates accordingly and make things as easy as possible for them.

First we need to get an affiliate program set-up. So go to your favorite search engine and look up affiliate program systems. Find the affiliate program you are most comfortable with and go with them. They will install everything you need and explain how to use their system. Your prospecting for leads will get easier because your affiliate program is in place.

Next we need to find affiliates. You can advertise wherever you please but I would suggest advertising for affiliates on <a href="http://clickbank.com" >http://clickbank.com. Remember the higher the commissions are that you pay, the better the affiliates you will get. If you only pay 10% of everything they sell you will not land the big affiliates. Try 50% and watch what happens. Here is a very good tip: Go to <a href="http://elance.com" >http://elance.com and hire people to get power affiliates for you. Only pay them 10 bucks per power affiliate they get and only once the affiliate has signed up with you.

Once you have your affiliate program in place all you have to worry about is getting new affiliates. Always reward your top affiliates with a cash bonus or a vacation to show them their work is appreciated. Contests are also a great way get more sales from your affiliates. Your affiliate program will prospect leads for you because you will have targeted interested people. <bio>This Article was written by Eric Fields.
The idea of Home school is growing incredibly, and today they begin with preschool. Amongst the many reasons are transportation, cost, effective time management, special needs, religion and a lack of confidence in the conventional schooling system. When considering home school preschool you want to ask yourself a number of select questions relating to both you and your child.

Personality Appraisal

Standing back and appraising the personality of your child is a tremendous factor in preschool home school. This can go a far way to deciphering their greatest preschool goals. Are they outgoing and integrate and communicate well in social interactions, or are they the loner? Are they constantly looking for playmates or are they content with the contact they have with neighbors and siblings? All of these are questions you will need to ask yourself.

The flip side of the coin to this is you, the parent in the roll of teacher. Do you have the patience to repeat the same thing time and time again before your student thoroughly understands the various aspects they will learn in home school preschool? Naturally, you love your child unconditionally; though evaluate yourself realistically at this level of patience. Are you home schooling for the convenience, or for another reason?

Time And Commitment

Are you prepared to spend 2-3 hours for 2-3 days a week providing home school preschool for your child? There are numerous activities you will have to be part of during this time. This is an area you will need to be extremely honest with yourself on. Will you be able to dedicate this time without exception or distraction to teach your child? Be sure you will complete this important task before you begin.

Curriculum and Materials

As with all home school there are many sources for preschool supplies, and there are as many resources from other 'home-scholars'. Upon looking them over online and offline; will you enjoy these activities on a steady basis with your child, and can you keep with them for the whole preschool year? Can you afford them? You will need at least some materials that aren't likely to be free, and potentially a well prepared professional curriculum may cost you much more.

Group Relations And Interaction

Part of preschool, home school or otherwise is getting your child started interacting with other children. When you take on the home school preschool task, you will need to bring this to your activities as well. Often 'home-schoolers' in a community can work together to have things to fill this conventional schooling gap. This is where the children learn to wait in line, and taking turns.

Child Care Needs

Home school preschool will require thorough and dedicated attention to your preschooler. Do you have the necessary arrangements for childcare for your other children during times when you need to focus on the one that is in home school preschool? While at times you may manage to accomplish both roles, there will be times where that might not be feasible.

After Everything Being Said And Done

Overall, home school preschool may be the best preschool experience you can give your child. Think carefully to be very certain of this. If after careful thought you feel it won't work out, it's wise to choose other methods. Though if you are sure of the task, do your very best and you stand to give your child a better experience since you care. <bio>You may be interested in learning more about a http://www.activitypreschool.com/preschool-program.php For info you simply have to know, be sure to visit the Preschool Activity Site.
