Each year the instances of children suffering from colds, soar throat as well as high fevers grow. At times these germs and viruses can be life threatening specially for children under the age of 5. Ordinary soap just does not cut it, if you use ordinary soap germs begin to regenerate within half an hour. This is because ordinary soap does not completely eliminate the germs on your skin.

Why do many families of school aged children get colds and sicknesses within the first couple months of going back to school after summer vacation ends? It's not the change in weather, as many people like to believe, but rather it is the contact with more germs as your children are spending the majority of each day with a large group of students. Think about everything your child comes into contact with in a day at school- and how many other kids have touched those same objects! Germs are your and your kid's worst enemy. Not to mention that dirty hands will mean that whatever your child eats with his or her hands will all be contaminated with germs that will go into your stomach. So clean hands play an imperative role in your child's health. Fortunately there are measures that you can take in order to reduce and eliminate germs on your and your child's hands.

Germs are easily spread from contact, and many germs will live for hours or even days on an object. So if little Johnny is carrying germs for the common cold and uses the pencil sharpener, any child who uses the pencil sharpener after him is going to pick up some of those germs on their own hands. They are likely to get sick if their immune system isn't able to ward off those germs- or at the very least, they bring those germs back home and deposit them on anything they touch at home and it continues to spread the germs around! This is one reason why the instances of colds increase each year.

Clean hands are very important for stopping the spread of germs. Hand soap and cleansers need to not only wash away dirt and grime, but kill the germs and prevent them from spreading from one person to another.

Hand Sanitizers

Hand sanitizers contain alcohol and other agents that are known to kill certain germs that are easily transmitted. Studies have shown that families who use hand sanitizer containing 40% ethanol are 59% less likely to spread sickness to other members of their family who also use hand sanitizers than they are to spread it to people outside of the family who do not use hand sanitizer.

Keep a portable size hand sanitizer in your purse, diaper bag and car to make sure you have it whenever you may need it and soap and water is not available to use. How many times have you used a public restroom to find there is no soap to wash your hands with? Squirt a small amount of your hand sanitizer into the palm of your hand and spread all over both hands to effectively kill most germs you may have on your hands. You do not need to rinse off the sanitizer- it dries quickly and as it does, gets rid of the germs.

Antibacterial Hand Wash

While many studies have indicated that antibacterial hand wash is not as effective in killing germs as hand sanitizers, it's more likely a problem with the way we wash our hands rather than the product itself. It is important that you wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and that you lather for 30 to 50 seconds before rinsing off the hand wash. A good rule of thumb is to sing the ABC song in your head while soaping and lathering up; and finish it before rinsing. Using the right cleanser takes the guesswork out of cleaning.<bio>Debrah Dragon is a writer for Beauty Items, a website about everything beauty-related - beauty tips, beauty salons in Seattle, beauty supplies, etc. Debrah is also a featured author at www.ArticleKing.com</bio>

We all enjoy soaking or swimming in a warm crystal clear pool or hot tub yet at times keeping that sparkle can be a trying experience. Keeping your pools chemicals in the proper range is not only necessary to maintain that sparkle but also to keep your pool or hot tub safe for swimmers.

There are three basic ways to keep your pool clean and safe for swimming the traditional chlorine system, biguanide and mineral systems each are safe and effective for use in outdoor pools and hot tubs. Each system needs to be used independently of the other so which ever system you start using you must continue to use that system. You will also need to purchase the proper testing equipment for your system.

The old standard chlorine is available almost every place from your local pool supply store to Wal-Mart it is relatively cheap and easy to monitor and use. The big drawbacks of chlorine are it is harsh on your skin and can cause bathing suits and hair color to fade. Stabilized chlorine should be used in a pool or hot tub that is exposed to sunlight if your spa is inside or is not in direct sunlight non stabilized chlorine can be used.

The next type of pool sanitizers are the mineral systems these release minerals such as copper, zinc and silver into the water to keep the pool or hot tub algae and bacteria free. Generally the mineral system does use a small amount of chlorine to make sure the system is efficacious.

The third type of pool sanitizer is the "Bio" type of sanitizers such as Bioguard and BioDex. These all liquid sanitizers are very easy to use but they do require a specific testing unit and can not be used with chlorine. These sanitizers do not have the same harsh effects of chlorine and do not bleach out hair and swim suits.

Every type of pool sanitizers requires an oxidizer, the oxidizer or shock treatment removes the oils, lotions and other unwanted contaminations form the pool. Not all shock treatments are the same although monopersulfate which is an oxygen based oxidizer. Chlorine based shock treatments are also oxygen based. Chlorine shock should never be used with the Biguanide sanitizing system uses hydrogen peroxide as the main oxidizer.

No matter what type of sanitizer you use in your pool or hot tub you need to start with the basics. Make sure your Ph is between 7.4 and 7.6 this prevents corrosion and scale build up and reduces the irritation to swimmers skin and eyes. <bio>Jake Plumer is a writer for http://www.a1hottub.com. </bio>

Air contamination control has become increasingly significant in our day-to-day lives. Polluted air is a major cause of concern for families whose members have different allergies and asthma. Hence, we should be very concerned about the quality of air that we breathe. It is difficult to eliminate all the air pollutants but air purifiers can clean the air to some extent. This can be achieved by using the best air purifiers in our offices and in our homes.

Surround Air Purifiers Surround Air Purifiers manufactured by Indoor Purification Systems Inc, are based on ionic air purifying technology. The Indoor Purification Systems Inc has been in business since 1988 and is one of the pioneers in the field of air purification.

How Surround Air Purifiers Work Most pollutants found in the air are positively charged. Surround air purifiers use ionic technology to produce negative ions. These negatively charged ions magnetically attract the positively charged ions that are present in air as pollutants. The positively charged ions are too heavy to remain in air, and stick in to the charged plate, leaving the air free from pollutants.

Surround Air Purifiers: Air Purification in 6 Steps Surround Air Purifiers are available in different sizes and shapes. The Surround air purifiers use six technologies in a single unit. High Efficiency Particulate Air filters are fitted to remove dust and allergens. The ultraviolet lamp kills all the microbial organisms. An activated carbon filter prevents the spread of chemicals and smoke and a programmable sanitizer checks the spread of bad odor. This sanitizer can be kept at "on" or "off" position as desired. There is also an anti-bacterial pre-filter that takes care of larger particles. The amount of ions produced by the ionizer is equal enough to neutralize the particles that float in the air.

Surround air purifiers are highly efficient. A vehicle air purifier variety of Surround air purifier clears the air inside a car. HEPA air purifier and Multi-Tech Ionic are at the most popular models of this air purifier series. Use surround air purifiers to breathe refreshing, invigorating air at home. <bio>Barney Garcia writes about many different air purifier and HEPA air filter topics. http://www.allair-purifiers.info and http://www.air-purity-forall.info and http://www.air-purifiers-stop.info </bio>

If you have a hot tub, one thing that you will have to consider is hot tub care. While it is possible in some areas to bring in a professional to service it, this is hardly necessary as the care for a hot tub is very simple and straightforward. With a little bit of effort, hot tub care can easily become of your routine.

Ideally, on a daily basis, you will check the sanitizer level and dose and clean the water line. Cleaning the water line is not even something that you necessarily need to do every day; it is an aesthetic concern mostly, but letting the water line go untreated can cause unsightly buildup. On a daily basis, make sure you check your hot tub for anything like cracks or structural damage. Problems like that can be solved much more easily if you catch them early.

Another thing that you should do is check the pH level on a daily basis. This is simply done through the use of pH Test Strips. For a hot tub, the pH should be around 7.4 to 7.6, just a little more basic than a neutral 7. At this pH, you are ensuring that the most comfortable conditions for yourself as well as a slightly alkaline state that will prevent the corrosion of your equipment as well as protect your hot tub. To change the pH, you can use pH Plus and pH Minus to help bring the level back to where you need it to be.

Sanitizing your hot tub will kill bacteria and prevent algae growth, providing you and your guests with a more cleanly environment. The two substances most often used to sanitize hot tubs are Bromine and chlorine. Bromine does not have to be dosed every day and comes in a tablet format for ease of administration, while chlorine comes in a granule form and will dissolve quickly in water. Either of these are ideal for sanitizing hot tubs.

If you are in an area with high calcium hardness, you should find a solution to dissolve calcium scale deposits. On a monthly basis, make sure you clean the filter cartridge to ensure decent water flow and at the same time, you can test the water balance using test strips.

Your hot tub should be something you enjoy for years, so make sure that you take care of. With a very small amount of regular maintenance, you can make sure that your hot tub stays in tip-top shape! <bio>Thomas Oak creates articles for http://www.a1hottub.com </bio>

The very first paperweight was manufactured in the 1800s. While they weren't promotional paperweights, they were items of necessity. Necessity because before there was air conditioning people would use fans to cool their offices or homes, or they would have windows open. As the breeze blew through to help decrease the room temperature, everything that was held down would blow away.

It took a visionary of an entrepreneur to see this annoyance and cash in on it. While rocks were useful in holding papers down, they were not very attractive. So he created promotional paperweights that were not only functional, but pleasing to the eye. Not to long after the creation of the paperweight, they started to become collectibles as well as necessities. With everyone wanting or needing one, a second clever entrepreneur saw to it that these decorative little items were also used to advertise, and the promotional paperweight was born.

When your company is looking for a product that will help get their name out to the masses, be useful and remind people of whom you are. You need to think promotional paperweights. Keeping in mind that today a promotional paperweight is less an item of necessity and more a piece of office décor, giving them to potential customers will leave them with a very lasting impression.

Think about what your competition is handing out to your potential customers. Pens, paper, notepads, hand sanitizer or Kleenex. How many pens do they get and loose? Paper, unless it has incredible art work on it, does anyone really pay attention to paper or notepads. Why would you want your company associated with items that are used to clean up dirty messes and get rid of germs like Kleenex and hand sanitizer? When you are choosing a promotional item you have to think about the message you are sending based on what they promotional item is.

What does a promotional paperweight say about your business? Promotional paperweights tell your current and potential customers that you are someone that they can turn to in a time of need. That you are dependable and that you take the time to think about your customer. What better message could you send out?

Promotional paperweights can be given as awards to your customers for their loyalty. The variety of styles, designs and shapes that are available nowadays really allows you to create a piece of art to give as an appreciation, while at the same time you are advertising your business. Promotional paperweights can also be given as a collectible to customer or an employee.

If you are looking for an item that will not only advertise your business but make people smile when they think of your business then you need to invest in promotional paperweights. They are still functional and they are beautiful. Don't give another customer something they will lose or throw away. Promotional paperweights are pieces of art that they will gladly display, and they can advertise your products and services.<bio>Miles Lovegrove is director of Fluid Branding, the UK's largest supplier of promotional paperweights and other Promotional Products at www.fluidbranding.com.
Keeping a spa or hot tub well maintained is essential to the health of everyone who uses it as well as to the proper running of the spa itself. Spa maintenance isn't difficult if you monitor the water, maintain water balance, sanitize, oxidize and clean the water filter.

Water balance is important for maintaining an ideal level of chemicals and alkalinity for everyone. Checking for calcium hardness, pH levels and total alkalinity are all aspects of maintaining a healthy water balance. Calcium hardness needs to be maintained between 100 to 200, total alkalinity should be between 125 to 150 and pH levels should be between 7.4 and 7.6.

The most important aspect of maintaining your spa is to make sure the water is clean and free of contaminants and prevent algae growth. To do this, you need to use a spa chemical called a `sanitizer'. There are two main sanitizers; sodium dichlor (simply called dichlor) and bromine. Dichlor is chlorine-based, relatively inexpensive, does not leave residue in the spa and dissolves easily. Bromine is purchased as tablets, is odorless and stabilizes at a higher pH level than dichlor. You should monitor the sanitization level of your spa regularly by using test strips for either the bromine or chlorine sanitizers. Sensitization and pH levels should be checked daily.

Once a week you will need to give the water an oxidation shock. This will help to balance the water and give it a crystal clear appearance. Potassium monopersulfate is an oxidizing agent which is commonly used to re-establish water balance.

The water in some areas naturally has a high concentration of minerals and metals which can affect the spa itself and corrode equipment. It is necessary to use a sequestrian agent when this happens to clean your spa shell regularly. If a stain already exists then you can use the agent along with scrubbing to clean the spa shell.

Cloudy water can also be problem. It occurs when the pH level of the water is too high. This is easy to fix, however. You can simply add sodium bisulfate to lower the pH and reduce cloudiness. Alternatively, if your pH is too low, using sodium carbonate in your spa water will increase it.

If you maintain your spa regularly and still get foamy water, it is probably because the chemicals in your spa water combine with make-up, soap, perfumes, and deodorants from bodies. This is easy to overcome by simply using a no-foam agent to dissolve and remove foam.

Once a month, you will need to clean the filter cartridge using a cartridge cleaner. The water balance should also be checked every month by taking a water sample.

General spa maintenance isn't difficult if you follow these steps and pay attention to the condition of your spa water. If you monitor your water and sanitize it regularly, your spa will remain clean and safe for you and your family to enjoy. <bio>Jake Plumer writes for http://www.a1hottub.com. </bio>

They are ugly, they stink and they are unhealthy -- I am talking about molds. Numerous houses all over the world have mold problem.

Once molds grow inside your house, you have to kill mold. Otherwise mold would make all the members of family sick.

What kills mold?

Bleach? A lot of people prefer using bleach over any other mold cleaning product; however, if you search the web or ask the experts, you would get mixed feedback about the success of using bleach to kill molds and mildews.

One group of people believes that bleach does not kill mold whereas other believes that it does. Then which one is correct? Most reasonable answer is, perhaps, it partially cleans mold; hence both the answers are correct.

Bleach as a mold cleaner:

Bleach is inexpensive and easily available in the market. It is a popular sanitizer, however it has certain limitations.

Bleach works well on non-metallic, non-porous and hard surface. Bleach can kill mold when molds grow on non-porous and hard surface, otherwise not. Now, that's something not possible. Molds can grow anywhere -- on carpets, upholstery, curtains, leather goods, and wood etc.

If you stick to bleach, you won't be able to remove mold from carpet, upholstery or any other fibrous and porous substrate.

Secondly, bleach cannot remove mold from dirty surface. When the moldy surface contains lots of dust particles, bleach goes on oxidizing the organic dust particles leaving molds and mildews untouched.

Hence, before you start cleaning mold with bleach, you need to clean the surface essentially. However, you can avoid this double-cleaning episode if you use natural mold cleaning products. Natural mold cleaners are effective cleaning agents and remove molds from infected substrate efficiently; it does not matter whether the surface is clean or dirty. If you use spray based black mold cleaner, you can remove molds almost effortlessly -- no scrubbing, no washing.

Thirdly, you have to prepare a strong solution of bleach to get positive result. 1 cup of bleach should be mixed with 1 gallon of water. Then you need to spray it over the infested surface and let it remain there for half an hour.

Exposure to such high density bleaching solution can be health hazardous. Nascent chlorine that evolves from bleaching agent is not good for health and can lead to respiratory trouble.
Pool Supplies

Taking care of your pool is vital, not just to keep it looking good, but also to make sure it's safe to swim in. To do that, you'll need a variety of pool supplies. You can choose from sticking with the absolute bare minimum for pool maintenance, right through a high-level maintenance system. Either way, there are a wide variety of products to suit. You can even add in some extras such as a pool cover, ladder or slide.

The main priority is to keep the pool clean. The first step is to focus on the pool water. Generally, something like chlorine, which acts as an oxidizer and sanitizer, is more than sufficient. It keeps the water clean by burning up any organic material that's present, and this also helps to reduce the load for the pool filters. You also need to keep an eye on the pH balance of the water, as well as a level of alkalinity. A basic water testing kits can do this for you. It's also worth looking for calcium hardness and stability. If you find a problem using a testing kit, you can fix it immediately.

Swimming pools have interior walls and floors, and over time these will get dirty and slimy if you don't keep them clean. It's possible to buy a manual swimming pool vacuum system, which will do a perfectly good job as long as you're willing to put in the time to clean the pool. Nowadays, however, it makes sense to invest in an automatic pool cleaner, as they've become a great deal more affordable. Plus it means you can spend your leisure hours enjoying the pool, rather than vacuuming it!

Choosing the right pump for your pool is important, because if it's the wrong size, you'll either waste a lot of energy or it won't work properly. Generally, you should choose a pump capable of pumping the entire capacity of your swimming pool in about eight hours. You also need to choose a filtration system. The three main types are sand, cartridge and D.E. Talk to a swimming pool expert to find out more about the pros and cons of each one, or else get online and do your research there so that you can decide which one is right for you.

Most people want to heat their pool, so some extra pool supplies will be needed for that to happen. Pool heaters have become a lot more energy efficient, dependable and durable over the years. They've even become more high-tech, with some including advanced features like a freeze protector or an integrated timer.

A pool cover isn't an essential, but it's still a good idea. Even if you only use it in winter, it can be worthwhile. That's particularly the case if small children can gain access to the pool. If that's likely to happen, you should probably choose a pool cover that's quick and easy to put in place at any time.

When you first install a pool, it can feel you're spending a lot of money on pool supplies to get started. The good news is that things get much cheaper once you settle into a pattern of ongoing maintenance. If you choose wisely, however, your pool supplies will last a long time and give you a clean pool to enjoy for many years to come. <bio>Steve Dolan is a pool owner who does all of his own maintenance.
You know how you always wipe down a thermometer with rubbing alcohol? That's to kill germs. Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or isopropanol) and ethyl alcohol (which is the alcohol in liquor, wine, or beer) both do this well.

It was this property of alcohol that household soap manufacturers had in mind when they brought alcohol-based gel "sanitizers" onto the market a few years ago after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended them as "a suitable alternative to hand washing for health-care personnel in health-care settings." Note the "health-care setting" emphasis; that's important, because the kinds of bacteria found in hospitals are typically different from those found in your home. Hospitals are concerned about passing along infectious diseases to patients who are already sick. At home, the bacteria you're worried about are those associated with food preparation or the bathroom. What you need at home is different from what they need in hospitals. And then there's one more issue you need to think about: Some of these gels smell really good, even appetizing, to small children, and they're seriously dangerous if ingested. So unless you have someone who is very sick or old or suffers from immune limitations, alcohol-based antiseptic gels can be a problem waiting to happen.

Since the active ingredient in these gels is the alcohol, you could achieve the same effect just by splashing rubbing alcohol on your hands. But alcohol can be a serious skin irritant, so the gel makers throw in a little moisturizer to counteract the irritation. The rest of the contents are just water and fragrance.

So, do you need sanitizing gels at home? Probably not. In home and food preparation situations, research has shown that scrubbing with soap and hot water is a perfectly effective and safe alternative, and may even be better. In fact, some of the ethyl alcohol-based gels have been proven to be completely ineffective unless the level of that chemical is at least 62 percent and some don't reach that level.

Lately, though, I've become more cautious. A while back, my daughter came down with salmonella poisoning. We never figured out where it came from, but since then I've been more concerned than ever about cleaning the surfaces where we prepare food. Shaklee doesn't carry an antibacterial gel, but most surfaces can be effectively cleaned with Get Clean Basic H2. And if you feel the need for extra protection, I suggest Shaklee's Get Clean Germ Off Disinfecting Wipes. They're bleach and alcohol free, yet they kill 99.9 percent of household germs like Salmonella and E. coli. You can use them to disinfect most places where bacteria and other harmful microbes hang out: countertops, sinks, trash cans, diaper changing tables, doorknobs, faucet handles, handrails, and exterior toilet-bowl surfaces. Next time you've been playing patty-cake with a raw chicken, try them. Sure beats salmonella poisoning, I promise you.

Did you know? When we overuse antibacterial and antimicrobial soap, the germs get smart and become resistant to the chemicals we use against them.<bio>Sloan Barnett is a regular contributor to NBC's Today Show and the Green Editor for KNTV, the NBC affiliate in San Francisco.
Traveling with your kids can be a cherished experience or a horrifying nightmare. Children must always be entertained; you cannot expect them to remain quiet at all times without planning and having something resourceful to keep their minds occupied. The minds of children need to be nurtured and molded.

Always remember to bring the bare essentials when traveling. You will encounter a plethora of public restrooms that may not live up to your hygiene requirements while on the road or in the air. There is nothing like the feeling of using a public restroom and thinking of picking up a million germs upon exiting; or even settling down at a restaurant table that does not appear to be as clean as it should.

1. Portable hand sanitizers are a definite godsend! Children sometimes forget to wash their hands, especially if they are really hungry and ready for that quick snack. Packing sanitizer will eliminate a few of your worries for that eight hour drive or sixteen hour flight.

2. Baby Wipes are another blessing to the family of travelers. Be sure to bring regular and antibacterial baby wipes. Upon entering a restaurant; you may find the table may not be as clean as you would like it to be. Time to break out the hand sanitizer and baby wipes and thoroughly clean; so you can obtain some peace of mind while eating a family meal on the road. Baby wipes are great for cleaning hands, toilet seats, bathroom faucets and hand dryers, any place you know that harbor deadly germs and viruses.

3. If you are flying to your destination; be sure to choose an airline that has a children's menu. Children will love the fact that they are able to eat their favorite foods such as pizza, chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese and Chef Boyardee ravioli or lasagna! They even include stickers and coloring books to keep your child's mind occupied; making their traveling experience even more enjoyable.

4. Bringing your child's favorite toys along is a most valuable asset you can possibly think of when traveling. Be sure to pack items that will hold your child's attention such as portable art supply kits with paper, crayons, colored pencils or magic markers. Experiment with brand new toys in case they happen to become bored with the current toys they have at home. This little trick will surprise and charm them; adding many more hours of capturing and holding their attention.

5. In our wonderful age of technology, we are indeed blessed with mp3 players; Nintendo Gameboys and portable Playstations. It is wise to bring a few of their games and a possibly add a few new ones to occupy them while on the plane or in the car on that long road trip. Mp3 players hold a plethora of different tunes to occupy and break up the monotony of traveling.

6. If you have planned a road trip; it is a wise choice indeed to make a few enjoyable pit stops along the way. This allows the whole family to get out and stretch their legs for a bit; plus enjoying a new and exciting sight or activity. You may know of a nice antique store or even a children's restaurant such as Chuck E Cheese; be sure to thoroughly plan and work it into your schedule; you may find you will spend a few hours in this place.

7. Perhaps you have a long plane trip have a young infant or toddler; definitely bring a car seat; as the airlines do not supply them. You will find your trip overwhelming and tiring if you have to travel for two to sixteen hours holding an infant or toddler with little or no sleep. Also, think of the safety factor involved. Unfortunately current U.S. laws do not require children in airplanes to be placed in car seats. You do not travel in a car while holding your infant or toddler, so why would you do this on a plane?

8. Once you have landed; jetlag will most definitely set in; which is twice as bad for children as it is for adults. Be sure to supply your children with plenty of bottled water and fruit juices. Everyone may possibly be ready for a small meal and a nap. Once everyone has taken their time and rested up; it is now time to venture out and enjoy the sights.<bio>Nick Nikolis is working in Atlantica Hotels and Resorts as It manager and operates Olive Garden Houses in Rhodos Greece.
Diaper Cakes are becoming more popular for baby showers and newborn gift ideas. These cakes, which offer everything a new mom needs for her new bundle of joy, can make any baby shower unforgettable. Not only do they leave a lasting impression, but the new mother can use every item in the cake, from the blankets to the diapers, thus providing a fun and useful gift for the proud mom-to-be. You can make them a three layer to just a one layer depending on the size gift you want to send.

Here are top five tips to making a diaper cake.

Fill your cakes with items you know the mother will be using. Diapers and blankets we all know, but items like baby lotions, powder, hand sanitizer, nail clippers, bottom balm, or Vaseline. You may also include a bottlebrush, baby bottle, scratch mittens and so on.

Choose quality products when you can. I use Luvs diapers as they are bigger and make your cake more stable. Blanket size does matter. Keep that in mind when deciding on the size of your cake. For example, 7, 8, 10, or 12 29x29 will give you an 8" cake and 30 x 40 will give you an 12" cake, a burp cloth will give you an 7" (they have really cute and colorful burp clothes out now) for a 10" this size is in between so you can use a 30 x 40 and just bring in one end a little more to make it a 10".

Make sure you wrap cake as this will deter others form touching or moving items around. Use cellophane wrap or cellophane bags, or tulle. Use lots of curly ribbon makes your cakes look so pretty.

Have fun and create your own style everyone has their own. Themed cakes are very popular (Disney). Also if the sex of baby is unknown don't fear...mix it up a bit go with neutral colors. If you know the babies room color that is even better.

If your choosing this as a business-congrats. Making diaper cakes for a living is so much fun and very rewarding. A few starter tips are: Have professional pictures taken of your cakes. Use these as a portfolio and put them in a book for show and tell. Have business cards made up and brochures. Set your pricing. Tell everyone about your cakes. It is the best time start as many people in your city have more then likely not even heard of a diaper cake. <bio>Barb Ireland is the founder of Make A Diapercake biz, http://www.makeadiapercake.biz.
Traveling even if just for a weekend trip can be very exciting even for children. However, we have to understand that when we travel with children whether via the plane, ship, train, bus, or drive our own vehicle, kids can become restless especially when the travel time is quite long. Here are several tips to keep your children entertained and well-behaved during the entire travel trip.

People, especially children can get impatient when they are hungry. When going for a weekend getaway, bring loads of snacks for your kids to chomp on when their stomachs start to growl. You don't need to be bringing along meals in packed containers. You can pack in a bag snacks like sandwiches, cookies, crackers, juices, fruits and bottled water for ease and convenience.

Have some stopovers to enable your kids and the family to take toilet breaks as well as stretch their legs. Take your meals as well during these stopovers. You can always find many gasoline stations along the way that could serve as stopovers, where food establishments are also located.

Always bring extra clothes irregardless of how old your kids are. You will never know when a change is needed especially for accidents like food or juice spills or they could be sweating from a hot weather. A portable potty would also be useful especially when you have toddlers or very young kids who cannot hold their call of nature for the next stopover. Baby wipes and a hand sanitizer would always come in handy.

To prevent boredom from settling in as well as to keep your children preoccupied, play games with them or engage them in conversation about their favorite toys, their most watched movie, their week at school, their friends, etc. Keep them busy with books, puzzles, toys and other stuff that they could enjoy and have fun with. An activity tote bag can contain comic books, books, games, stuffed toys, cards and things that your kid enjoys doing or would want to take along.

Of course, letting your kids sleep during your travel will enable them to rest to have the extra energy needed when you will reach your destination. Let them sleep to avoid them from being cranky for lacking sleep. It is important though to wake them up properly to avoid irritable behavior. Give them some time to be able to wake up fully and not be feeling groggy. <bio>Leon Groom writes about http://www.traveldealsdiscounts.com </bio>

A toddler spends most of its waking hours playing. When your baby hits the first year a whole new range of abilities opens to him to explore his surroundings. Toys being a permanent fixture in his daily confines, keeping them safe for play is a crucial element of a childproofed play area. Consider this; the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that in the US alone, an estimated 210,300 toy-related injuries were treated; 35% of which involved children below 5 years of age.

Guidelines for Toy Selection

Even before any toy gets anywhere near your toddler, you can already ensure their safety and appropriateness to your toddler's age through a careful and thoughtful toy selection.

A good starting point would be opting for age-appropriate toys. Look for a "recommended age" sticker on the toy package. This would guide you on which toys can be handled by your child given his control ability and level of maturity.

You must also consider the size of the toy to make sure that the toy or any of its parts could not fit into your child's mouth. Weight is another matter to bear in mind. You don't want your child injured should the toy accidentally fall on him. The toy should also be free from parts that can be easily detached such as buttons or strings or chords that may pose the danger of strangulation.

Tips for Toy Sanitation

The kind and quality of toys are not the only factors that could render them unfit for use or hazardous to your little one. Dirt and harmful bacteria and pollutants that attach to toys could pose danger as well. Let us face it; you can not sanitize your child's environment nor his toys one hundred percent. But you can certainly make sure they are cleaned properly.

One thing to bear in mind is that not all toys are cleaned the same way. The trick is in knowing which toys may be tossed in the dishwasher and which ones should be washed by hand, or spray-cleaned or machine-washed.

Most toddler toys may simply be soaked in warm, soapy water. You may add in a small amount of cleaning agents such as a dish soap or liquid soap or dishwashing detergent to get them cleaned.

Large plastic toys should be regularly washed with soap and rinsed using a hose to carefully remove hard-sticking dirt. Stuff toys on the other hand may be handled by the machine unless you find a tag instruction against doing so. The dishwasher is a good cleaning agent for hard plastic toys. The toys are exposed to the dishwasher's hot temperature which thoroughly sanitizes them.

One may also find sanitizer and disinfecting sprays and use them with caution making sure the toys are wiped properly after spraying. Such products are good to use especially if the toys had been exposed to other children who may have colds and cough that your toddler could easily catch.

Think about this way, the practice of careful toy selection and regular sanitation is comparable to providing your little toddler with healthy and enjoyable friends to play with and as useful as making sure your child gets his required daily dose of vitamins. Like a proper diet which includes an apple or two a day, such practices are sure to help keep the doctor away.<bio>For more tips and information about baby toys, please check out http://www.thekidstoystore.com/baby.html</bio>

Just as everything we do in life has different levels of mastery, so it is the same for model car kits. There are a total of five skill levels. Although, two of them can somewhat fit into one snug skilled level. These levels are determined by the detail that is applied to the models that you are trying to create. Read on to find which skilled level you are at!

Defining the First Level

The first level is for beginners. Most beginners have to stay at this level for about a month or two, depending on how many models you create. With these models, they are already painted for you. So, there's no need to get yourself dirty. The basic idea of these models is learning how things go together. Most of these, you just sort of snap the pieces into place. If you were anything like how I was when I began, you just thought one piece could fit anywhere. You knew the car had a front and a back, and four wheels. They use the method of peeling the decals and placing them on, rather than the ones where you have to use water. According to most websites, these kits are for young ones, or for those who haven't done models in a while.

Level Two Models

The second level is different in a few ways. This level is recommended for those over the age of ten. Most of them come as plain white pieces; so, on this level; you do begin to start painting. Here, they tell you how many parts are in the box, and this adds more detail. This is also the level where glue will be needed. There are also what are called waterslide decals, which are more life-like.

Level Three

Level three is about as hard as levels four and five. There are more versions of the model than just the ones that the company illustrates, so don't be alarmed if there are more parts in the box than what the instructions tell you about. Another thing they add to these kits is color schemes. You mix colors and so forth beginning in this level. Don't attempt this skill if you are not familiar with the basics, because let's face it, you're only wasting your money.

The Top Levels

Levels four and five are put together. This is the level that you begin tinkering with the engine and putting details on the inside as well. The higher the level you go, the more work you'll be putting into it. All of the levels have some sort of age limit. Yet, this is just what they think is appropriate to begin using the kit. It takes into account the fumes from the glue, paint etc., the skill involved in each level, and so on. What it all boils down to though is how comfortable you feel with what you are doing. Some people get it really easily, so they fly by skill levels one and two; while some remain on level one just to be sure they have the basics down pat before they move into greater detail. Just find what level you feel you are ready to handle. Don't think too big.<bio>Come check out our entire stock of model cars and diecast cars today.</bio>

Prevention

There is no way to prevent the cold, or any infection from happening, but if you build up a strong immune system, you will fight it off much quicker. You can naturally boost your immune system by eating well (including lots of fruits and veggies), quitting smoking and staying away from second hand smoke, drinking a lot of water, and being physically active. You can also help avoid getting a cold by minimizing contact with others who are infected by not sharing food or drinks, and having your own beach towels, etc. Since the cold virus can live on materials such as door handles, money, and countertops for several hours, it is important to wash your hands regularly or have hand sanitizer with you at all times. Also remember, when you have a cold, have some curtesy for others who are trying to avoid the same misfortune, and cover your sneezes and wash your hands!

Treatment

Just like with prevention, there is no cure for the common cold. Therefore, the main goal is to do things to make you feel better and recover faster. The first and most important thing is to get lots of rest, perhaps up to 12 hours of sleep each night. You will also want to drink lots of liquids to help clear your congested sinuses. For relief of aches and pains that are accompanied by fever, try taking an over the counter medicine such as Tylenol, and avoid giving Aspirin to children because it can cause the potentially fatal Rays Syndrome. Also, try adding lots of juice, fruits, vegetables and soups to your diet so you can fight off the infection quicker. Other home remedies that can lessen the symptoms of a cold are ginger, which can be grated and steeped in water for a tea, as well as garlic which as immune system boosting effects. Hot baths can also make you feel better because they increase your body's circulation which can help relieve a stuffy head, and congested lungs or nose. Some people also believe that taking a bit of rum or brandy in a hot drink will help treat a cold or flu because the alcohol will kill off germs in the body. However, if you do try this technique, be sure not to drink too much, as this will just result in you feeling worse the next day and a lowering of your immune system. <bio>Barney Garcia writes about many different topics.
People living in humid regions understand the pain of having molds in home. Black molds and mildews grow and develop in places that are moist, dark, untidy and moderately warm.

Molds obtain food from dead organic substances. As soon as they found a humid surface they grow and start collecting nutrition from adjacent organic materials.

It's not necessary for them to grow on organic materials only. They often grow on concrete walls and obtain nutrition by degrading organic particles present on the surface or by eating on any adjacent food source.

To prevent and control mold growth, you need to control moisture content inside your home. Here is a list of actions that help you arrest indoor mold growth.

Steps to control mildews and toxic black molds

1. Moisture is the main life factor; mold cannot grow, develop and reproduce in dry places. So keep your home adequately dry. Use dehumidifier to keep the moisture content low. Install Relative Humidity tracker that alerts you whenever moisture level tends to rise up.

2. Repair plumbing defects and water leakage as soon as possible. You have to keep your home and building dry -- no excess water anywhere. So take care of leaky roof, pipe leaks and plumbing problems as soon as possible.

3. Next important factor for black molds to live, grow and develop is food. Make sure your home is neat and clean all the time. If there is no matter to eat, molds won't stay for long.

4. If your home or building is extremely prone to mold attacks, use properly formulated mold cleaning products as an added solution for regular housekeeping. General cleaners and sanitizers won't be helpful for removing mold permanently.

5. Make sure molds have not found their way into the ducts of your air conditioning system or ventilator. Growth at such places is difficult to figure out and the spores spread all over the building easily with the air flow.

6. Take care of your bathroom, kitchen, basement and crawl spaces; actually take extra care of these places as they are very much susceptible to mold growth. Keep the places dry and clean.

7. Install air purifiers to filter airborne particles. That helps you eliminate floating mold spores and hyphal fragments from indoor air. The quality of air that you inhale controls the health of you and other members of your family.

8. Mold-proof, basically moisture-proof paints are available in the market. These emulsions prevent moisture condensation and mold formation on walls.

Kill mold -- Mold cleaning process

Once molds start spreading, you need to sketch your plan of action for mold cleaning and mold prevention.

Mold prevention and control process has been mentioned above. While following the instructions, conduct thorough mold cleaning process too.

Molds and mildews are not insects, nor are they pest. So instead of insecticide, pesticide, sanitizer or bleach, use mold cleaning products. Kill mold spray are easy to use and effectively kill black mold and mildews from your home and building.

If you feel lost, take help from professional mold removers of your city.<bio>Are you fighting an endless battle trying to defeat toxic black mold? Proper mildew and mold removal program kill molds and keeps them from coming back in the future.</bio>

When you become a parent, your first concern is the health and well being of your children. Often, this begins as soon as you discover that you are pregnant. Both mother and father are responsible for ensuring that their kid's health is protected. Children's health is a combination of a number of different factors. The most prevalent factors that contribute to children's health and well being include nutrition, exercise, sleep, hygiene, and proper medical and dental attention. By incorporating these aspects into your child's routine, you can rest assured that you are taking adequate steps to ensure your child's health and well-being.

First, nutrition is of utmost importance. You should limit junk foods, and beverages that contain empty calories. Children should eat foods that are selected from the food chart and should also take a vitamin and mineral supplement daily. Ask your pediatrician for recommendations on the best brand of vitamin and mineral for your child's specific needs.

Today's children do not get as much exercise as they need. Computers, video games, and other indoor activities encourage children to sit and be less active then ever before. Encouraging children to get daily exercise is vital to ensuring their health and well-being. Also, don't necessarily assume that they are getting as much exercise as they need in school. Today, many public schools are eliminating recess, adding to the problem of lack of exercise. Scheduling time each day for your child to have outdoor activities is a great way to make sure they are getting the exercise they need.

Children lead busy lives and hectic schedules. Setting a proper bedtime that enables them to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night is recommended. Depending upon the age of your child, they may need more or less. Ask your pediatrician how much sleep they recommend your child needs, and set limits to ensure they get that rest.

Ensure that children bathe regularly and that they use antibacterial soap. This is a great way to cut down on the amount of germs and bacteria that they are exposed to. Even little scrapes and cuts can become infected so treat scrapes regularly with a product like Neosporin to reduce the likelihood of infection. Always have children wash their hands, or use a hand sanitizer to prevent the spread of colds and flu. Finally, keep regular appointments with your child's pediatrician and dentist to ensure that they are receiving the proper medical and dental care to stay healthy and happy. <bio>Give your kids the original goji juice from FreeLife International to boost their health. http://www.justgojijuice.com/blog/p1.htm http://www.gojicapital.com </bio>

You've been potty training your little one and so far things are moving along smoothly. She has figured out how to use the potty and there are hardly any accidents. It is time to finally venture outside the home without training pants. This of course means that she will have to start using public restrooms.

Using an unfamiliar bathroom can be a bit of a challenge for both parent and child during this stage. Here are some tips to make the adjustment easier on both of you. Before you know it your little girl will be comfortable using a public restroom.

Use The Potty Before You Leave

Use the bathroom before you leave and encourage your child to do the same. Wording it as "Let's go use the bathroom before we leave" works much better than demanding your child go to the potty or she doesn't get to go. She will feel like a big girl, since she is doing what Mommy or Daddy does before they go out to run an errand.

Bring Toilet Paper Or Wipes

Since restrooms aren't always stocked with toilet paper, bring a few sheets of your own. Carrying a small container of moist wipes works as well and helps clean up all sorts of little messes. Carry a small container of hand sanitizer in case there is no soap to wash your hands.

Scout Out The Bathroom When You Get There

When you get to a store or bathroom, take a quick peek in the bathroom with your child. She'll feel more comfortable using it later if she knows where it is at and what it looks like.

Use Large Stalls

Whenever possible, use the larger handicapped stall. There's enough room in there for both you and your child. A lot of stores, malls, and even larger venues like amusement marks and museums how have family bathrooms. They are much larger than regular bathrooms, usually include a changing area and have enough room to even fit a stroller inside. Since they are usually for the exclusive use of parents with small children, they tend to be cleaner than regular restrooms.

Don't Leave Your Child Unattended In A Public Bathroom

Always accompany a small child into a public restroom. Unfortunately you just never know who might be hanging out in there. Play it save and stay with your child. For women it is usually acceptable to take a small boy into the lady's room. For a father, taking his daughter may be a little trickier. Check out the men's restroom. If there is a stall that is somewhat clean and there is no one standing at the urinals, it is perfectly fine to take your daughter in there. If the lady's room is the only option, Dad could stay at the door and walk his daughter through the process, making sure you stay in verbal contact. If the lady's room is completely empty, he can also take her inside, and let other women coming in know he's there. Just jell something along the lines of "Dad in here, just a minute".

Keeping these suggestions in mind, go ahead and venture out with your potty-trained child. After a few trips to the public restroom she will be a pro at it and you won't believe you ever had to worry about it. <bio>For more information about potty training, potty training tips and a free ecourse to help you potty train your child visit http://www.mypottytraining.com </bio>

If you have a few grapevines growing in your backyard and if you have tasted the fruits of your labor, then maybe the time has come for you to stock your own label. Actually, you do not need your own grapes to make your own wine and you normally make better wine if you do not have your own grapes.

The reason for this is that home wine brewing kits are so popular these days that you can go from chardonnay to merlot from a click of your mouse and simply order on-line whichever wine you prefer.

Home wine brewing kits also provide you with all of the basic equipment needed to make your own flavorful and unique wine at home. But then, if you decide to use your own grapes, your cost will be much less since you do not have to order the fruit. There are home wine brewing kits that specialize in home grown grapes.

There are Vintner's Reserve Wine Kits, Chianti Wine Kits, Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Kits and the list goes on. There are Wine Expert Wine Kits and the Beginners Home Wine Brewing Kits. These kits all come with instructions on how to make your wine, so even the newest wine connoisseur can venture into a kit for home wine brewing.

The Kit Contents

You kit will come with some basic equipment that will include: your recipe-this is absolutely necessary for any wine maker, a huge fermenting bucket with lid, a 6-gallon Better Bottle plastic carboy, #10 drilled rubber stopper-absolutely necessary so you don't lose a drop, 3-piece airlock, triple scale hydrometer, bottle brush-you definitely want clean bottles, siphon unit, one=96step sanitizer, Italian double lever corker-definitely needed, approximately 30 #8 X1.5" corks- you must have corks.

Your ingredients will be your fruit, yeast, additives and water. Most home wine brewing kits do not come with the bottles, but they are easily added with another click of the mouse. Usually the same company where you ordered your home wine brewing kit from will sell the bottles to you, as well.

After you have read the instructions very carefully, you may begin your pouring and measuring with your ingredients of the home wine brewing kit. When you have completed your mission and are sitting back waiting for your wine to ferment, its time to open a cookbook and learn how to bake your own bread sticks.

Go to the local gourmet store and choose their finest olive oil and a few herbs and spices. When all is ready, uncork your special reserve, taste a bread stick dipped in oil and put on your favorite CD. Brewing your own wine with your home wine brewing kit doesn't get much better than this. <bio>Ann Marier writes informative articles about the house and garden issues.
Making your own wine or brewing your own beer at home is a very interesting hobby and it can be even a profitable hobby if you are a smart investor in the right winemaking supplies. In this article we will point you in the right direction.

Free fruit

If you grow your own fruits, wine making is not an expensive hobby at all, its true you need some proper winemaking supplies but when you do some research you can get your supplies very cheap. Producing your own fruits is a good step in the right direction but there are other ways to get fruit for free. If you offer your fruit and vegetable supplier one or two bottles of wine in return of the fruit he did not sell you will probably end up with more fruits then you can use. And because fruits are the most expensive part of winemaking supplies you need, it is a great way to keep the cost of your hobby down. And belief me, when you bring those wonderful bottles of wine to your supplier, he will also be happy that he gave those left over fruits to you. You can even make a deal with him and let him sell your bottles of wines. That is a win-win situation for the both of you.

Winemaking Equipment

The other big investment you need to make in winemaking supplies is the equipment you need for the wine production. I will let you in on a secret, most wine making kits that people get for Christmas never get used, most of the time they end up at e-bay or other auction sites.
