Although it sounds trite, decision-making is something we all have to go through at least once every single day. The decision can be as simple as choosing what color of shoes to wear, to as complex as deciding how to tell your boss that you would like to move on and find another job. From clothing to ethics, decision-making is a major task we have to face, and we cannot afford to do it poorly.

So how does one make a good decision?

There are five main points to bear in mind when you are about to make a decision:

• You are not alone -- Consider those who may be affected by your decision. If you can, get these people aside and increase their commitment to the decision's outcome.

Remember as well that there are decisions that are not yours to make, so think twice before making a decision on your own.

• You are not judging people -- Making a decision is not necessarily choosing between right and wrong, or choosing the lesser evil. If you take this weight off your shoulders, you will feel a lot less stressed, and be much more ready and lucid to make the decision.

What you do have to remember is that making a decision means that you are choosing among alternatives, so make sure that you make a choice based on principle, not on people or appearances.

• You should not be in a hurry -- Avoid making decisions on the spot. Don't hurry yourself. Remember that making the right decision at the wrong time is as bad as choosing the wrong alternative at the right time.

Take time in making your decision. Involve those who will be directly affected by it, and brainstorm alternative solutions. This is your chance to gather fresh ideas and opinions, which can allow you to make a better decision.

• You cannot map everything out in your head -- As you take your time in making your decision, grab a piece of paper, get a pen, and take down notes. Write down all your ideas so you can see what information and data are involved in the making of your decision.

For each alternative to be considered, make two columns, one listing down the pros or advantages of choosing that alternative, and another assigned to the cons or disadvantages of making that choice. This way, you can clear your mind and remove any distractions that may keep you from concentrating on the decision you have to make.

• You should not hang on to unnecessary baggage -- Accept that you are not a perfect person, and that you cannot perfectly predict, with full certainty, that your decision is correct. If you thought your decision through, took your time, and discarded all other alternatives, then regret nothing and stop worrying.

Remember that decisions are made at a certain time because they were the right ones to be made during that time. This timeliness of the decision and the decision-making process also means that you cannot dwell on what you have done, and you must move on and focus on what you should do next. Set aside the speculation and tackle other problems.

Decision-making involves the people around you, and your immediate environment. If you take your time, map out your ideas, and write everything down, you won't end up regretting your decision -- and your colleagues will be glad that they gave you the decision-making task. <bio>Leaders are often made not born.
It can be stressful when you have to make important decisions regarding your family, career, and other areas of your life. We all want to make the right decisions and this can create a lot of anxiety. As a result, here are some suggestions on how to manage the stresses of making the right decisions.

First, get all of the facts and necessary information to make the right decision. Find out the necessary facts of the situation and study all relevant information. This is important because you do not want to miss critical information that could make a difference in your decision.

Think about what you want and consider the possible outcomes of your decision. Each decision will lead to new opportunities. Consider the possible opportunities and go from there. Spend some time just thinking about what is it that you want.

Get advice from your friends. It is important to consider other viewpoints other than your own. Ask your friends and relatives on what they think that you should do. These people know you and they can give you additional insights that you may be overlooking.

Take a deep breath to help relax in making your decisions. If you still feel stressed, then get some fresh air or do something fun to help relax. You will feel better and gain a fresh perspective on your current situation. This will make it easier to make the right decision.

Remember that you make decisions all the time. It would not be the end of the world if you made the wrong decision. You can always re-evaluate your situation and do something different. Do not put a lot of pressure on just one decision. You will have other opportunities to correct the situation.

The decision making process does not have to be stressful. Consider all of the facts and your interest when making a decision. This should help reduce your anxieties in making those important choices. <bio>Stan Popovich is the author of "A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear" an easy to read book that presents a overview of techniques that are effective in managing persistent fears and anxieties.
In order to make a woman see you as a confident man, you need to develop fast, authoritative decision making ability.

Here's a great example of a conversation that demonstrates a complete lack of decision making power (does any of this look familiar?):

Her: "What do you want to do tonight?" Him: "I don't know. What do you want to do tonight?" Her: "I don't really care, it's up to you" Him: "I'm up for whatever" Her: "You want to go out to eat?" Him: "Yeah I guess. I ate something before but we could go eat if you want" Her: "Well it's stupid to go eat if you're not hungry" Him "Yeah, I guess your right." Her: "Well, were you in the mood to go to the movies?" Him: Okay, what's playing? Her: "Not sure"

Now what she's really trying to say is, "Be a man damnit!!!! Make a decision - ANY decision. Just make one!" You need to make decisions quickly and stick to them. Even if you make the WRONG decision it's better than making NO decision. The great thing about decisions is that they get easier to make, the more you make them. If you have a hard time making decisions, it's because you have wimpy decision making muscles. The more you make decisions, the bigger and stronger these muscles get.

Go out and practice making decisions. Start with small ones. You'll see what an empowering feeling it is to make decisions with authority and stick to them. We live in a free country. You have the right to make decisions about everything. This is a beautiful thing! Women search for guys who can make decisions quickly and easily. They love it. They love to be guided. I don't care if it's not politically correct to say - it's the truth. Women love when a man makes decisions for them. <bio>Get free dating tips from Spencer Michaels at http://www.datingwar.com You can also check out Spencer Michaels' latest course: Mind Control Her: Pick Up Women Using Mind Reading Techniques at http://www.mindcontrolher.com </bio>

Over the years, as the needs of customers have grown, so has Decision Finance by offering ever increasing services to those in the small and medium business size brackets. Finding financial services on smaller scales can be difficult or worse, highly expensive, making them virtually impossible to afford for companies without a large profit margin. Decision Finance offers just about every type of financial service and insurance a growing business needs. This article provides an overview of the services they offer.

When it comes to business, having insurance is a necessary business expense. There are a number of options available for business owners. These insurances include public liability, landlord, professional indemnity, employer liability and wehicle insurance.

Decision finance loans are also available in both business and personal. There is a Decision finance loan for buy to let, and commercial options. If you are looking for a secured or unsecured personal loan, then Decision finance loans are also available. DF also offers lines of credit in the forms of credit cards if you need less than the Decision finance loan options available. Many business or personal loans have a set minimum limit: anything below that amount they will usually offer a credit card to provide the necessary loan.

Secured loans offered by Decision finance are loans where some form of collateral is required to be attached to the loan. This means that your property could be secured against the loan amount so that the lender would be able to reclaim any money owed if you default on your repayments. Decision Finance also offer unsecured loans which do not require collateral as security... however they will usually have higher interest rates and stricter guidelines.

If you are looking into options for a business rather than personal loan, Decision Finance loan options are open as well with commercial mortgages and buy to let options. Speaking with a representative of Decision Finance directly will provide you with more information on the details of these types of loans. If you are running a small business, it is usually more cost effective to try to get a buy to let mortgage which allows renting with the eventual purchase of a particluar property while a medium sized business may look into full-blown commercial mortgages in order to purchase space.

Which ever option you choose and whatever you are looking for Decision finance has options that can help you with your business needs. Remember though that Decision Finance also offers insurance as well as loans for both business and personal use as well as credit card services for those in need access to lower credit amounts. <bio>Don Whiting writes for a number of finance websites such as http://www.loan-seeker.co.uk. </bio>

For people who find themselves in financial trouble, there are some options to be aware of before any action is pursued. In order to get the answers that you might seek about issues such as bankruptcy, an attorney that specializes in that sort of thing would be the best choice to answer any questions. Bankruptcy questions are a great way to find out what the law says and how you can use it to protect yourself. There are probably as many answers as there are questions when it comes to bankruptcy, as long as you know who to ask. In order to make educated decisions about life's financial challenges, bankruptcy questions are the perfect way to collect all of the necessary information.

A bankruptcy will stay on your credit history for ten years, which is a long time to try to put your financial health back in order. There are some good bankruptcy questions that will help you to decide if you are making the right decision, and the best methods for following that decision through. There can be nothing worse than to file bankruptcy and then find out that it wasn't the best or only decision you could have made. That is why it is so important to seek out professional guidance when it comes time to have all of your bankruptcy questions answered.

Thinking about Bankruptcy Questions

When people are put into a situation where they need to consider bankruptcy, it is advisable make a list of questions that come up during the decision making process. Carry a pencil and pad around to write down questions as soon as you think of them. This way, you won't forget any of the information you want to learn when you are in the midst of a meeting with your lawyer or financial expert that is helping through this difficult and confusing process. Make sure that you also document the answers that you receive to your bankruptcy questions, so that you have a thorough log of the process that you are working through.

If you enter into the bankruptcy process without a good understanding of what the steps are, you are doing a disservice to yourself that you will have to carry with you for the next ten years. Bankruptcy questions should have answers early on in the process and long before everything is completed. Keep in mind that this is a decision that will affect your financial health for the next ten years of your life. Consider your decision carefully, and make sure that you have all of your bankruptcy questions answered by a qualified professional before you enter into the process. <bio>Andrew Manifield is the owner of http://on-bankruptcy.com, the best source for free advice on all aspects of bankruptcy, whichever stage you might be at. </bio>

Decision-making seems like it should be a simple process, but sometimes we can find ourselves vacillating back and forth between one or more choices, truly unable to make a solid decision.

One of the things that makes decision-making so unnerving is the fear of making a wrong move. We may hesitate about making any kind of decision because we're not sure of what the outcome will be. We get mired in andquot;what ifs, andquot; paralyzed by fears of what could go wrong. We worry that choosing wrong will cause an avalanche of bad luck to tumble onto our heads, or even worse, our decision will be wrong AND irreversible.

However, even worse than making the wrong decision is letting our fear prevent us from making any decision at all. This, in itself, is a choice, and not always one that serves our highest good. Rather than allowing ourselves to feel confused and paralyzed with fear, it can be useful to have a simple decision-making process to fall back on when we just can't seem to make up our minds.

Following are techniques that can help you gain the clarity to make wiser decisions for yourself:

1) Clear your mind. First take a few minutes to get into a relaxed state of mind and release all fears and worries. This will help you to think more logically, rather than getting stuck on emotional responses.

2) Listen for signals. Bring each choice to mind individually, and pay attention to the responses from your body. Does one choice make your gut tighten up in apprehension? Does another choice make you feel a bit giddy or hopeful? Do you get a sense of dread from any options? Your intuition is a powerful tool that is always speaking to you. You just need to get quiet, tune in, and listen to what it says.

3) Consider the pros and cons. This is an old trick that is still quite effective. Rather than relying on your emotional impulses, you can look logically at the benefits and downfalls of each choice. Writing them down on paper is even better, because it can help you to see clearly which choice seems most beneficial. Sometimes this technique alone is enough to help you decide one way or another.

4) Consider the consequences. Though few of us have the ability to see the future in great detail, we can imagine a likely outcome to any choice we make. By thinking about these potential consequences, we stand a better chance of understanding which choice would be better for us in the long run. Two good questions to ask during this process are: andquot; What could possibly happen if I make this decision?andquot; and andquot; Is it likely to happen?andquot; Sometimes you'll discover that your fears are out of proportion to the likely consequences, and once you realize the likelihood is small, you will be more confident in finally making a decision.

5) Choose. That's the hardest part, I know. But again, even NOT making a decision is a choice in itself. Wouldn't you rather have control of your choices, rather than letting your inaction bring about its own consequences? After using the techniques above, you should have a pretty solid idea of which choice is best for you.

Most importantly, remember that truly andquot;wrongandquot; decisions in life are rare. Rather, each choice has a corresponding consequence. Some of these consequences may seem positive, some may seem negative, but ultimately none of them are really andquot;wrongandquot; for us. (Except destructive choices that result in harm to yourself or another. Those I would consider definitely bad or wrong choices.)

But in a general sense, every decision we make simply moves us down a particular path in life. If we later decide we don't like that path, we do have the power to choose another direction. But even the paths we decide we don't like have something positive to offer us. We learn and grow in wisdom with every decision. We get to know ourselves better and better, and each decision we make later will be more in line with who we truly are, and the lives we want to create for ourselves. <bio>Wendy Betterini is a freelance writer specializing in self-improvement and personal development concepts.
Now that you are engaged it is time for you and your fiancée to sit down and discuss what kind of wedding you two envision. Just because you love each other, it doesn't mean that you agree on what kind of wedding would be your dream wedding.

If you have always dreamed of being the princess walking down the aisle treated like royalty, a traditional wedding is for you. But, if your fiancée wants to get married scuba diving instead, you two have a lot to talk about. Even though you two may not agree, you have to keep discussing your options. Many grooms don't want to be bothered with wedding planning because they are not heard. If you want your fiancée to get involve, treat him like an equal and the help and feedback you receive may surprise you.

Whatever your decision may be you two have to feel good about it. Your wedding should be personalized to your desires. You two have to communicate clearly and openly about what is your dream wedding and why. You two have a common goal that is to get married, how you get there is your decision. Make a list of ideas that are important for you and see how you can incorporate them into your wedding day. Before you start working on the details, you should individually write down the most important ideas to make sure neither one of you is pressured into omitting anything important.

Throughout history, many of the decisions about the details of the wedding were up to the parents. Today, while parents are usually part of the process, they are not decision makers. If you want your parents to pay for your wedding, you are going to have to give them a lot more decision-making power than if you and your fiancée are paying for everything.

Once you get married you will become a team, so it makes sense to work as team planning your wedding. There are good and dysfunctional teams; you have the power to become an effective team. Regardless, the size or style of your wedding, you and your fiancée has to work together. The more effective you work together, the more fun you will have planning your big day. <bio>Author: George Meszaros with http://www.americasbridalshop.com </bio>

What is your once in a life-time decision on the eve of your marriage, except the selection of your life-partner? It is your wedding gown!

Many other important items such as wedding ring, wedding jewelry make the day special for you but the wedding dress that envelops your entire body is the most important thing. It gives you the appearance of an angel from the celestial world--that will be remembered, appreciated and quoted by all those guests who were present on the occasion.

No doubt, you have a fairly good knowledge about the wedding gowns. But when you actually go to finalize the purchase for your own wedding gown, you will be amazed and taken aback by the vast number of designs, the range of styles, shapes and colors available.

Do not have any pre-notions about your wedding gown. Go to the market with an open mind. The fashion market and the textile designs and qualities are changing so fast that the one of the most surprised and confused persons to take any decision on the wedding dress would turn out to be you.

Doesn't matter! It is a life-time opportunity! You are going to be bride, the VVIP of that auspicious day. The entire stock, the designs of the wedding gowns present at the store, are your slaves today. You can see and examine anything and everything. You are the monarch of all that you survey at the departmental store. Have patience. Select carefully, very, very carefully indeed!

No shopkeeper worth his profession would persuade you to take a hurried decision as far as selection of the wedding gown is concerned. He understands your difficulty and internal feelings!

Don't underestimate yourself. Think, you are the number one model of your country. Try various combinations and do all possible experiments. Match and experiment with your hair style particularly. Make generous use of the mirror in front of you.

Before you venture upon the adventure of the bridal shopping, you need to make a detailed and emphatic study of articles and photographs of some of the bridal magazines. Of course, your friends, some of them married would give you generous doses of advice! Understand the difference between the genuine and counterfeit advice and finally take your decision. Let it be your decision- no decision under pressure from any quarter.

The dress-specialists, with the first look at your figure and personality are able to make out what would be ideal for you. Listen to their advice but let the decision be yours. This is an opportunity for you to learn from him. But this is also the special opportunity to learn from your expectations. He may be right in his measurements, but you are not wrong in your dreams. <bio>http://www.weddingleague.com/ andamp; Wedding Dress website provides detailed information on blood pressure, causes of wedding, wedding gifts, wedding ideas and more. </bio>

Hooked, trapped, desperate=97Oh these words are so heart wringing. Are those that utter these soul-searing cries being tied up by their thumbs? Or have they fallen down an old mine shaft?

Well, umm, no, they have=85 well they have made a decision to become hooked, trapped and desperate.

See the news blog tumbling out... Scottish smokers, hooked on their smoking addiction have vowed to fight the smoking bans.

Read the Press Release from the pharmaceutical company announcing=85 Smokers trapped by their smoking addiction are offered a new drug.

Hear the media babbling=85 Britney Spears' man is desperate to quit smoking for the sake of their children.

I bet if you are a smoker, you don't really use these strong words=85 more like, "I'd really like to quit, but I enjoy smoking, or, I've tried to quit but it's too hard, or, I want to quit, but I'm so addicted I don't think I can, or, I'm too scared, what if=85" and so on.

But are smokers totally at the mercy of their habit and spinelessly despairing of escaping its bonds? Would they describe their smoking addiction like that? Trapped? Trapped by a chemical and emotional fix? They're not trapped by their decision, that's for sure, because we all have the ability to make our own decisions, yes or no as we wish.

A person makes a decision to try smoking. For some that leads to more decisions to reach out and take more cigarettes maybe a week or so later. Then some more, then pretty soon as the nicotine gets its grips into the brain's receptors, the person finds it becomes harder and harder not to go out of his or her way to acquire cigarettes to smoke=85 and hey presto, because of their decisions, they are now supposedly a hooked, trapped smoker, and if they want to quit, they are desperate.

But it still comes down to a decision to smoke. Every time a smoker lights up it is a decision they have made. A simple, personal decision, along with 1000's of other decisions each day that make up that person's character, lifestyle, mood, health and future.

A daily decision to get out of bed is made.

A decision not to have another helping of food is made.

You decide to clean the house, take the dog out in the rain, stack the dishes, and sort out your accounts for tax.

You don't dwell on how you'll miss lingering in your warm bed, or how you'll suffer without more food, or how unpleasant it will be to walk the dog in the rain, do the dishes, tax etc.

No, with unpleasant decisions you simply do what needs to be done because the consequences not to would be worse.

Some people make daily major decisions, sacrificing a lot because of a goal worth aiming for, such as a champion swimmer rising at 5am to practice 2 hrs before breakfast. Thus it is with smoking, or exercise, or getting out of bed in the morning. It's a matter of making the decision and focusing on the outcome.

You know it's absolutely pointless to try to worm your way out of getting out of bed. Who would you worm to anyway! But the point is it's automatic, although for some people an effort, to get up in the morning=97but it has to be done. Has to... and your decision is made, because the day beckons and there's a whole lot of living to do today.

You're in charge of your decisions. You are not trapped; your brain and body are resisting, but no-one is tying you to your bed, so up you get=85 no-one is forcing you to have your smoking addiction, although your brain and body crave a smoke, so decide to get help to control it and focus on something better.

It's your decision and the consequences are not that crash hot if you don't make the right decisions. <bio>Megan Carter's website, http://www.quitguide.com is a complete resource for smokers wanting to quit. The step-by-step http://www.quitguide.com/stop-smoking-program is for serious quitters who want a smoke-free life now. </bio>

Selling goods through affiliate programs is the first thing most of us do when we get into this game (same here).

This post will help you actually make money as an affiliate right away. If you will avoid this #1 mistake and discover this one technique, then you'll cut your learning curve like with a chain saw.

If you're new to making money on the internet, then this is the most important message you will ever read.

Here's the thing.

This might have worked at the beginning of the internet, but it doesn't now:

Don't try to be like <a href="http://Amazon.com" >http://Amazon.com and hustle tons of products on one page.

This makes you sales:

You want the focus to be on only one affiliate product on one page.

Here are the reason's why=85

The Russian Net Gun

Imagine the Russian military crafted you a special gun that shoots only a really large net. The net can capture up to 10,000 people at one time. When you're targeting the people who are going to buy from your page, which 10,000 people will you shoot your net at?

The answer is: You shoot the net at 10,000 people who would be interested in one affiliate product. So you promote that one product.

You don't promote 30 products on one page and target a hodge podge of 10,000 people who would be interested in different products. You won't get any sales this way and you'll waste your efforts and money driving traffic.

The Psychological Trigger that Makes Sales

Believe it or not, there's something psychological going on here.

* If you give a visitor one option (to buy or not to buy), then they will more likely make the decision to buy than the other situation.

* If you give a visitor several options (to buy or not to buy 30 items), then they will more likely not make a decision to buy.

This is because you're forcing them to make a yes or no decision. Do I buy this product or not? And people don't like to be in a situation where they have to make a decision (but that's where you want them).

Promoting 30 items gets too complex. Your visitor's psyche shuts down and he leaves your page. When he finds something else to click on, he doesn't have to face the pressure of making a decision.

"Greasing the Shoot"

Famous copywriter John Carlton calls this "greasing the shoot." It's where you write a sales message in a way that has no distractions for your prospect. You want to grease your sales message so that your prospect slides smoothly to the order button.

Internet people are click crazy. As soon as there's something for your prospect to click on, he'll click it. He wants to click things right away and he doesn't want to be pressured into buying anything (and that's not good for business). Let's apply this concept to hustling affiliate products.

Not only do you want to promote one item at a time=85 Let's say that you have a review site where you review affiliate products.

On a single item's page, you don't even want a navigation bar, no other links, no other products, nothing else that could divert the visitor away from making a yes or no decision for buying your product. Only a copywriter would tell you to do such a thing. But do it and find out it works.

Lay on the pressure. "You either buy this or not. You HAVE to make a yes or no decision. You can't take the easy way out and click something else." Don't say this, but this is what your page says to your prospect.

This is the way the psyche works. Your prospect doesn't want to think. He would much rather say, "Nah, I'll click here before I have to think about and consider what this guy is asking me to do. I'll click here and take the easy way out."

Your prospect doesn't want the pressure of having to decide, but you want your prospect to have a lot of pressure and have to decide yes or no.

This is What You Do

* Promote one product at a time on one page. (You want your prospect to be pressured into making a yes or no decision with no other options.)

* With no distractions, not even a navigation bar or any links. (You want your prospect to be pressured into making a yes or no decision with no other options.)

* Drive a targeted audience to that page like with your Russian net gun. (You want to drive qualified prospects to that page.) <bio>A gift for you...
Developing people, helping them grow as contributors, and helping them feel pride in their work produces great benefits to your company. Among other things it:

=BB Improves productivity, =BB Improves the morale, =BB Reduces turnover, and =BB Deepens and broadens your hiring pool.

Virtually all research into employee turnover reveals that opportunity for development is a key component to reducing turnover and increasing employee satisfaction. You should already be aware those two items greatly affect your costs and productivity.

The term Employee Development covers much ground these days, but today I'd like to focus on a piece of the ground that I rarely hear anyone talk about despite its direct affect on an employee's ability to work effectively.

That issue: Decision Making

Think about it.

Wouldn't you love to have a staff who made their decisions exactly the way you would if you were in their place? Wouldn't you love to have a staff who used their time exactly like you would (after all, time management is a decision)?

The greatest gift you can give your employees is teaching them how to make sound decisions. To do that, you will need to focus on something that may seem foreign to you: the process of decision making.

You see, most people focus on decision outcomes. They pass judgment on someone's decision making ability based on the outcome they witness. Outcomes are very deceiving.

Most people forget that all decisions involve risky trade-offs. Even the slimmest odds occasionally come through. When they do, that doesn't mean the person made a poor decision. It means the person got unlucky.

Let's look at a little example. Assume you are walking down the street and a car is approach from behind. Where should you be walking? On the sidewalk or in the street?

You've probably heard of the saying "Right place, wrong time." There are four possible combinations of that phrase.

RIGHT PLACE - RIGHT TIME

You are walking on the sidewalk and the car stays on the road. The sidewalk is the Right Place because the car stayed on the road and passed you safely.

RIGHT PLACE - WRONG TIME

You are walking on the sidewalk and the car veers onto the sidewalk and hits you. You were in the right place because the car should not have been up on the sidewalk. But, it was the wrong time to be on the sidewalk.

WRONG PLACE - RIGHT TIME

You are walking in the street and the car veers onto the sidewalk. You are actually walking in the wrong place but picked the right time to do it.

WRONG PLACE - WRONG TIME

You are walking in the street and the car stays on the street and runs you over.

Do you see how this simulates decision making?

The proper decision is the one that will most likely lead to the desired outcome. In this case that would be staying on the sidewalk. Just because you got ran over while on the sidewalk doesn't mean you made a bad decision. You just got unlucky. Good decision (process), bad outcome. It happens.

Let's switch back to developing your employees' decision making skills.

Step One:

Verify they understand the outcomes you want for your company and for them in their role. For example, let them know that meeting the project deadline while performing quality work safely is very important to them, you, and everyone else in your company.

Step Two:

Explain the issues they should consider when making their decision. For example, when they arrive at the end of day yet their work isn't quite finished, teach them how to evaluate the amount of overtime it will take to finish, the amount of time they would lose driving back the next day, and the work scheduled for the following day.

Step Three:

Help them understand the priorities of your company. For example, staying on schedule may be far more important to your business than the cost over-runs associated with unplanned overtime. On the other hand, your clients may be quite flexible with schedule allowing you to focus on minimizing labor costs. Different priorities, different decision.

When helping an employee develop his decision making skills, make sure you ask him about his reasoning before teeing off on a bad outcome resulting from his decision. Our egos are tied to our decision making ability. We all think we make great decisions.

When you chew someone out for a bad outcome without exploring his decision process, you disrespect him, de-motivate him, and teach him to avoid making decisions in the future. Keep this up and you will be micro-managing everybody, fighting high turnover, and dealing with upset customers.

Developing your staff's decision making skills may be the greatest you ever give yourself. You will probably sleep better at night; get a lot more done on the job; and create a loyal and hardworking team. <bio>Ron Roberts, The Contractor's Business Coach, teaches contractors how to turn their businesses into money making machines.
Most successful sales people have learned the value of starting high when prospecting a new account. They understand the importance of andquot;moving up the food chainandquot; and work hard at not only making contact but using that contact to get in to see top level decision makers.

I've been amazed, however, at how often they make the effort to reach top level people and then easily allow themselves to be passed down, back into the quagmire of low level contacts that they have worked so hard to avoid! It takes more than just calling high to be a top performer... it requires both determination and skill to stay high and maintain those important contacts.

First, I'll make the assumption (and will provide answers and suggestions in upcoming posts) that you're doing a good job of getting in to see those high level contacts. You've learned that most of the time, your contacts in purchasing are not really andquot;decision makersandquot;, but often are merely andquot;decision implementorsandquot;, implementing decisions that have been made by someone else. They get told what to buy and then go out and buy it. This does not mean that you stop calling on them but more importantly understand the limited power they really have (they'll never tell you this by the way).

Now, once you've gotten in to see Mr./Ms. Big, you need to make a decision that if you get andquot;passed downandquot; what is the best way to handle it. We need to decide if it is in our best interests to let that happen and if it is not, how can we function to increase our odds of winning?? When you hear the suggestion andquot;I like what you've talked about but you really need to see andquot;Bobandquot; in plant operationsandquot; make sure that you andquot;hear what is meantandquot;. Sadly, because all of us tend to have andquot;happy earsandquot;, we believe that we can go down to Bob with the blessing of our high contact and are sure with this referral we'll andquot;get the businessandquot;. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way and is often nothing more than a andquot;blow offandquot;..

To avoid making an incorrect assumption you might consider asking the following questions:

* I'd be happy to see Bob, If he likes the idea we've discussed what happens next?

or...

* I'd be happy to see Bob, would he make this decision without input from you?

The answer to this question will give you a good indication of whether you need to stay with your andquot;High Contactandquot; or not. If the answer is andquot;yesandquot;, than getting passed down may be o.k. However, if the answer is andquot; No, I'll still have some inputandquot; than you might want to consider the following step:

* After I talk with Bob, can I come back and meet with you to share what I learned from him?

The answer to this question will give you insight into whether you are just being andquot;blown offandquot; or if there is a sincere interest in what you have to offer. A willingness to meet again demonstrates interest and is a strong indication that you have a good chance at influencing this decision through this contact.

Calling high is important, but it is equally important to andquot;stay highandquot;. Make the decision to call the right people as well as the decision on what to do when you get there.

Action Step: Role play this situation with a colleague and master the questions and strategy so when you are confronted with this challenge you will be ready! Remember, planning without practice is a prescription for failure! <bio>John E.
Ben danced to his own beat. He never listened to anyone, not his parents or his instructors. Ben's motto was "I do it my own way." As a consequence, Ben's life was a series of bad decisions. He was unsuccessful in life. Nevertheless, Ben's decision making never got any better. As the county guard shut the door to Ben's cell, he ordered, "Lights out!" Ben screamed, "I'm the man! You can't make me do anything." The prison light goes out. Ben is left in the dark.

The Critical Decision

Have you ever wondered why some people continue to make bad decisions? You see million-dollar celebrities doing it. You can see this action in government officials and business leaders. There are no discriminators. From the very rich to the poorest of the poor, we see people caught in a vicious cycle of bad decision making. Sadly, we see it much closer than that. We witness relatives making those bad decisions. Despite all the wise counsel, the poor decisions continue.

Why is it important to teach people how to make better decisions? Anthony Robbins, author of Awakening the Giant Within, attributes good decision-making as a key attribute to a happy life. Bestselling author Brian Tracy argues, "The further you think into the future, the better decisions you will make in the present to assure that future becomes a reality." Making better decisions improves the quality of one's life.

Problem Identification

As a young advisor and college professor, I constantly hear students proclaim, "I'm grown." This statement implies I don't have to listen to anyone. I know best. Therefore, I can make my own decisions. Through series after series of bad decisions, the youth continues on merry ride of worsening consequences. Two things generally can stop this dead-end trap.

One lies in becoming more mature with age, and the other is experience. In going through a series of bad decisions, a wise person gains insight on the consequences of a bad decision. Every person, regardless of their background or social standing, can benefit from good decision-making techniques. Here are some key steps to use:

1. Define the problem or issues 2. Conduct research on the matter 3. Discuss with respected individuals with similar circumstances 4. Consider at least two alternatives 5. Select best decisions, based on your value system 6. Move on and accept any consequences

The Right Path

Making the right decision is a difficult process. No one will usually applaud your many good decisions; however, you will probably catch heat over the bad ones. Les Brown, author of How to Become the Person You Always Wanted to Be-No Matter What the Obstacle, explains, "Your values are not set by government or church leaders. Your values give you consistency in the way you approach life...By holding to your beliefs, you can always stay on track toward your dreams." <bio>Daryl and Estraletta Green, decision-making coaches, have been quoted in USA Today, AP, and Ebony Magazine.
Tattoo choices abound at most tattoo parlors and you will find that it is very difficult to choose the right one for you. Careful thought should be given to the tattoo that you choose, simply because this is something that you will have for the rest of your life, unless you want to go through costly and painful tattoo removal. There are some ways that you do not want to choose a tattoo, however.

Don't choose a tattoo when you are drunk. A tattoo chosen when you are drunk may not be something that you will appreciate the next morning when you are sober. Casper the Ghost may sound good when you have a little buzz going on, but it may not be the best choice for you to live with for the rest of your life. By choosing your tattoo when you are sober, you can better choose one that you will enjoy the rest of your life.

Don't be pressured by your friends. Choose a tattoo on your own terms. Don't be pressured by your friends. They are not the ones that will have to wake up with this tattoo on their body everyday. It may seem "cool" to have your girlfriend's name on your body now, but what if you break up? By choosing a tattoo that is timeless, you can better assure that you will be satisfied with it for the rest of your life.

Don't visit the first tattoo shop you see. Cheaper is not always better. You are placing quite a bit of trust in a person when you are allowing them to use a needle to create art on your body. Ask for references from people who have tattoos that you like the look of to find a trustworthy tattoo artist that you will be able to trust with your body. Visit a few tattoo shops that you are interested in and show them what tattoo you have in mind and get price quotes. In this way, you can know what to expect financially and you can see if you like the tattoo artist.

Safety first. When you are visiting the tattoo shop, be sure that you notice the cleanliness of the shop itself and the tattoo artists. You want to be sure that your tattoo is going to be given in a safe and sanitary manner and by watching them in action, you can evaluate their sanitation methods. Read up on sanitation practices, so that you know what should be done to keep you safe.

A tattoo is a decision that should be taken very seriously. Nothing is worse than choosing a tattoo on a whim and finding that it does not fit your personality later on down the road. Be sure that you put thought into your decision, so that it will not be something that you regret later. A tattoo should be an expression of what you are interested in and your personality. Be sure that you choose it carefully.<bio>Picking a tattoo is hard. The harder a decision, the more likely you won't regret it. A tough decision means you put thought into it. You likely picked a design that had some meaning to you. That's the way it should be. Click here for some tattoo ideas.</bio>

One of the most difficult decisions for a small business is whether to provide benefits to employees and which ones. This is a decision you need to consider carefully for several reasons. You want to be able to maintain employees, but at the same time you need to make a profit. For many small business owners, they must draw the line between paying for benefits and paying salaries. Certainly they can make the choice to pay benefits and lower salaries, but they will then have a problem keeping employees. On the other hand, failing to provide benefits prevents a small company from maintaining a staff of experienced workers. In most cases the end result is that the workers have to accept the position with no benefits, thus many small companies have a large turnover with the majority of workers being married women who don't require benefits or part-time help. This can be a difficult decision to make.

Before you begin operating your business you need to decide if you want to offer a benefits package to your employees. That doesn't mean you have to do it right away, but you should research it so that you know whether the cost will be too prohibitive for you to consider even in the future. It is a good idea to know as soon as possible if this is something you will even be able to consider. You will not be out of line if you choose not to offer benefits if you are in the retail business as many stores and other retail outlets only offer benefits to those who are at the assistant manager level and above. Others offer vacation and holiday pay even to part-timers but no health or life insurance. As a business owner, you have to decide if you want to take a smaller profit in order to maintain a staff of long time workers, or if you want to face the potential of a high turnover of staff. Your decision should be based upon the type of business and how long it takes to train new staff members, keeping in mind that every time you have to hire someone else, it costs money for you and your company and takes away from your other duties or from the duties of the person who is doing the training for you.

You have to decide for yourself as a business owner whether you want to offer benefits and which ones you afford. When making a decision you have to consider how much of your profit you will forfeit to offer benefits and whether you are willing to take less of a salary for yourself to ensure security for your employees. You may want to discuss it with your accountant or financial advisor for recommendations before you make a final decision. It's an easy task to say you will pay a large percentage of health insurance for your employees, but it's another issue to have enough of a profit to support that decision. <bio>Mark Stewart frequently writes on topics in the home business and Internet marketing industry.
If you are thinking of becoming a franchisee you are starting in a good path. It can be very exciting to start your own franchise but you will also have to comply with the franchisor and make hard decisions. The franchise contract is an important factor in your franchising career. It will stipulate what you can and cannot do on certain things and what the franchisor is going to do for you or not do. That contract can sometimes be just a little tricky to read or completely bogus. You will want to make sure that you understand the contract completely before signing it. There are many legitimate franchise opportunities out there but there are also a few franchising scams. You may want to find a good franchise broker to help you through your choice of becoming a franchisee.

A good franchise broker can help you determine if the franchise contract is legitimate. They can also ensure that what was verbally agreed to you from the franchisor is the in the written contract. You should never just take someone's word. They can also help you negotiate the franchise contract if you feel that something is not in your favor or you disagree with. A good experienced franchise broker should be able to spot a bad contract for you, so you don't get roped into something you thought was something totally different.

It is essential that you choose a franchise that is something that fits for you personally and financially. Your broker should be able to help you by presenting many different franchises for you. You want a franchise broker who is able to show and explain as many as possible, not one who only offers you three and gets mad if you don't like them.

You need to find a broker who is supportive of you decision in franchising and who is willing to help you achieve your goals. If they are trying to deter you from franchising and get into a different business opportunity then you need to find a new one. A good broker will not conduct themselves that way. Usually it is a way for that broker to make money quick and sadly you won't be left with anything.

A good franchise broker will take into consideration that buying a franchise is a big decision. It is not a decision that you should be rushed or pushed into. If you want to take your time and weigh all the options, he or she should respect that. A good franchise broker will not put pressure on you to buy right away; they will allow you the time you need to make a good decision.

One of the biggest things to look for in a good franchise broker is if they know about franchising. You will want to find someone who is very knowledgeable in franchising. This franchise broker should be able to answer all the questions you have about franchising. If you know more than they do, what is the need for them in the first place? If they are not helping you, you should find a new franchise broker.

There are good ones and bad ones; you just have to find the good franchise brokers.<bio>For more information on an automotive franchise, visit BumperDoc auto body franchise and start your path to business ownership.</bio>

"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."

=

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Nightly for many years I lay in my lonely marriage bed and fantasized about what I called "running away from home." I could never quite see how I'd do it. To keep thinking about it seemed to relieve the pressure of my daily struggle but still no action for 15 years.

Now I realize that my biggest moment of power was when I made the decision to leave my husband. I made a decision. I even trusted it though I had not thought the whole idea through. This time what blossomed in my mind as a result of that decision was the awareness that I could rely on myself. And as important, the decision motivated the actions that followed.

I had heard the voice of my Real Self guiding me and it was in this way that I decided the future of my life. I heard "could" instead of "should" and "want to" instead of "have to".

The old ego-mind voice was trying to keep everything the same for itself and left a heavy feeling in my gut. The new voice left me feeling uplifted and light. It felt like angels in my heart rather than a pitchfork in my butt.

Tony Robbins is quoted as saying, "To decide is to cut off any other possibility." Making a decision means jumping from one state of mind to another. Before - I thought and felt this way; now - I think and feel this new way. Make a decision and it is not hard to follow the new way as it generates a new consciousness and therefore, ideas, knowledge and different-than-before actions follow.

Right-Brain and Left-Brain Decisions:There is right-brain decision making which is intuitive. And, there is left-brain decision-making that is systematic. Above is an example of right-brain decision-making. Intuitive decision-making hides the steps. You make a "belief-in-your-own-knowing" leap of faith when you trust and act on this kind of decision.

Recently I made the left-brain, systematic decision when I decided after seeing my cheeks and nose turn bright red from eating too many refined carbohydrates, that I would eat only what I knew was right for my body.

For several days my mind went crazy trying to get me to eat the wrong stuff. Here's what it did then and for the past 40+ years:

=95 I heard my mind use scientific information it had previously gathered to its own "advantage" to try to get me to eat refined carbohydrates.

=95 I heard my mind discount all scientific information as to how excess weight happens and how refined foods effect that - as hooey.

=95 I found my mind leaving me completely confused about what is the right thing to for me to eat. And confusion is a very rare state for me. I may not know something but I generally know that I don't know.

=95 I found my mind telling me that all this food preparation was too much work and takes too much time.

=95 I heard my mind telling me that eating the same things over and over is boring.

=95 In the recent past I've found myself being evasive to people who I want to think I'm following a special program perfectly.

=95 I have also watched my mind give me permission to eat whatever I want as if I'm the parent and the child at the same time.

=95 Often at the beginning of a diet, an eating program or an exercise program I've had strong enthusiasm and watched my thoughts generate real excitement only to have that feeling of enthusiasm fade and so too my resolve. My mind was now generating "it's not so great" thoughts and so my feelings followed suit.

=95 I've also heard my mind telling me that "this hunger will be too much to bear".

=95 I found my mind telling me and making me feel that "I don't care" about anything other then the food at hand =96 I'll just eat what I want. And that's really a funny one. Every time I've listened to that voice for the umpteenth time, it is immediately followed by another voice beating me up.

Thus I made a decision - "I cut off any other possibility." So I just listen to the voices, feel the feelings, don't do what they tell me to do and they fade away.

You made a decision and read this article. Reading an article is not a big decision or a big deal. Was it an intuitive decision or a step-by-step decision? My guess is that it was an intuitive decision. If that is so, then it may follow that your intuition is guiding you toward a journey of transformation and beginning to reveal a new opening of consciousness that is forming in you. So having made the decision, though unconsciously and now having become conscious of your decision, you can look at what else you need for your transformational journey.

In the 12 Step program they say, "If you want what I have, you have to do what I do." I'm happy to share what I do; however, I'd like to tweak the 12-Step statement a bit and say,

IF YOU WANT WHAT I HAVE AND DON'T HAVE IT =96 A HAPPY MARRIAGE, GOOD FAMILY RELATIONS, WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND VERY SATISFYING, PURPOSEFUL WORK, YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN YOU ARE DOING NOW OR IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE YOU'LL ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU ALWAYS GOT!

My writing and coaching offers the ways and tools that work for me. Choose these or whatever else works for you. Simply be honest with yourself along the way.

Taking on transformation as a way of life requires certain attitudes and mindsets =96 in other words, a decision. You will want to acquire or unearth in yourself willingness, commitment, integrity, courage, compassion, accountability, responsibility and trust. <bio>I played key roles for author, John Gray. If you are considering buying a franchise then you will really need to do some considerable research and homework before you begin the franchise purchase process.

The reason for this is that you want to have as much information as possible before beginning the process, know what franchise is available to you, and have a general knowledge on franchises so you will not be taken advantage of. Also, it is important to find out as much information about the market situation as well.

First, you can do some research online or in your community to find out what franchises are for sale, especially in your area or proposed markets. There are literally thousands of different franchises you could buy, so figure out what type of franchise you would like and be happy running and then pick through the ones available.

If you are going to invest thousands of dollars in a business you want it to be one that you enjoy. Don't let the many different available franchises get you flustered and confused about which one would work best for you. Instead, methodically go through the franchise and market information to make a sound decision.

Researching the market is also incredibly important as well. The reason for this is if you buy a franchise it would be best for the success of that franchise if there was not significant competition, at least not at first.

So, evaluate the market from franchises to restaurants to interstates and any proposed changes in the area to help make the best decision possible.

Make sure you are making a list of the different franchises that would fit well in your proposed market and that are also available for sale. This is important to keep a list of because you will then need to compare all of the finer details of each individual company to help you make your final decision.

Information that you will need to compare franchise to franchise on your top five franchise list include who pays for advertising, financing options, proposed profits and loss, management training, consistency among franchises, and a whole list of other information.

When you know all of this about your top five potential franchises then you will be able to make the final decision on the franchise you want to buy or that franchising is not for you Finally, make sure you do your homework so you allow yourself the best opportunity to buy a franchise that you will enjoy and that will also be successful. If you do not do your homework, then you are taking many risks that could backfire on you. <bio>Robert Michael is a writer for Firm Franchise which is an excellent place to find franchise links, resources and articles.
I have been a pet owner nearly all of my life and a veterinarian for almost half of my life, so I have seen my fair share of animals and animal owners. One of the biggest things I hate is to see people jump into the decision of buying a dog without taking time to think through the decision. When the decision to get a dog as a pet is made without care, the owners and the dog suffer equally from it.

Before you run out and purchase a dog, take time to carefully consider your decision. Think about your current lifestyle. How would bringing a new dog into the picture affect things? Do you have enough time, energy and money to adequately support bringing a dog into your family? Sure, the idea sounds great now, but is it a wise choice?

If you are sure that you can handle bringing a dog into your home and you are sure that you have what it takes to really care for your dog, then move ahead with caution and begin to research what kind of dog might be best for you. A dog is not a dog is not a dog. I hate hearing people talk about not really caring about what kind of dog they get. Each variety of dog is different and requires vastly different care. Learn what you can about the dogs you are interested in before making a purchase.

It is great to visit people who own the kinds of dogs you are interested in. See what their lives are really like with a dog in the picture. The more research you do, the better off you will be when you finally bring a dog into your home. Learn all you can from other dog owners and get their wisdom for you. I guarentee you that having a dog as a pet is a wonderful but hard thing.

Prepare your family before bringing a dog into your home. Talk honestly about the responsibilities that bringing a dog into your home will mean. Divide up those responsibilities so that everyone feels like they have an important part to play. A family will always do better with a dog when they have a right understanding of the work and commitment it will take to keep the dog alive and well.

I love seeing families bring a dog into their homes. I am insistent, however, on seeing the process done well. Please use caution and wisdom as you seek to make a dog part of your family. <bio>Hallidae Thomason is a veterinarian and pet lover that really wants to see people take good care of their dogs.
