If you are looking for a job, chances are, you are probably looking out also for ways to amplify your cover letter and resume. One of the popular ways of doing this is by looking for a resume and cover letter sample to guide you with it. There are many types of resume and cover letter samples in the Internet, but there are certain characteristics that make it a real winner. You will have to be the only judge to determine which resume and cover letter sample is the best for you.

The resume and cover letter sample you should obtain should be free of grammar errors, sophisticated in its layout, formal and at the same time, engaging to the eye. The sample must be catchy, unique and tailored to suit your specific needs. It would also be preferable if you are able to land yourself a cover letter and resume sample that will really help you.

Certain resume and cover letter samples are targeted to fit your needs. If for example, you are applying for a writing job, you will need a sample of a writer's resume and not a spin off from an unrelated field. Different jobs have different needs. If at all possible, you can also do research on the company you are applying for and detect what type of resume and cover letters clicks with them. This may be some information that is difficult to obtain but well worth all the sacrifice and hassles.

Your chosen resume and cover letter sample must be flexible and something that you can easily customize to suit your needs. This is one of the best ways to ensure that your final submission will not just be the usual resume that do not get past the screening and shortlisting of applicants. You have to make sure that you will not copy that resume and cover letter sample word for word. You cannot expect your application details to stand out if you are just a chip off the familiar block. You still have to mull it over, strive and make use of the resume and cover letter sample as a guide and not an ultimate means to your end.

Ultimately, the resume and cover letter samples should be synchronized and not appear as if it were disjointed from each other. Coherence in the cover letter and resume sample is very vital since the cover letter somewhat acts like an usher to your resume. Your cover letter should not be too flashy or it will overshadow the details of your resume. On the other hand, you must not deprive your cover letter of vital information that will give you the good attention that you deserve.

If at all possible, you must try your best not to rely on resume and cover letter samples no matter how good they are. You will have to express yourself individually when it comes to these things. Even if a cover letter and resume sample claims to be competent enough in itself, a little bit of brain work to make sure you maximize the opportunity to express and introduce yourself in the most creative ways is also something that can spell the difference between getting a job and not getting past the screening processes. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Your cover letter should not just be seen as an introduction to your resume. You mustn't rely too much on the content of your resume to get you the job you need. Sure you have all the qualifications that the job requires, but so does tens or maybe hundreds of others.

What you need is a good cover letter that attracts the attention of the reader right away and guides his or her attention properly to your resume. Before even having the chance to read your resume, your cover letter should already create a mindset. The reader or the hiring manager should already be thinking about you as a good candidate.

But basically a cover letter should accomplish a lot of things, here are some of them:

=95Your cover letter should explain the reason why you are sending them your resume. It should specify the position that you are applying for. Sending a resume without a cover letter is a big no-no. Your cover letter will specify what it is that you indeed want, what you look forward to and what your intentions are. And also, it will show why you are the best person for the position.

=95Your cover letter should be able to communicate well with the reader. It should be well organized, well written and error free. This will show that you are a professional and you have the goods that they need and want.

=95Your cover letter should inform them where you learned about the vacant position or where you have learned about them. If someone recommended the job to you, then it is appropriate that you mention the name. Companies spend money on marketing and advertising, they want to know which reached you.

=95Your cover letter should entice its reader to move on to your resume after reading your cover letter. Since your cover letter will come first, it will shape the impression of the reader about you. If you seem interesting and you have what they need, they would be more serious in looking and reading at your resume.

=95Your cover letter should showcase your personality. It should show what kind of a person you are. Of course you will want to put your best foot forward. So tell them about your strengths and your weaknesses, and how they will be able to help the company.

=95Your cover letter should highlight your abilities and skills. This will give the reader the chance to weigh you. If you indeed is the right person that the position needs. Be specific, showcase your background that fits the bill of the position.

=95Most importantly, your cover letter should indicate how serious you are about the job. It should show that you want the job and you are willing to take it.

Making a cover letter that connotes professionalism and the ability to do what is needed is your edge among the others. You may all be qualified but writing a cover letter that will make you shine will make you rise above the rest.

Take the time to write and rewrite your cover letter until perfection. Evaluate yourself and see what needs to be included. Remember to keep your cover letter short and specific, your resume should just be able to explain the rest. <bio>Mario Churchill is the President of CareerJimmy and author of "Amazing Cover Letter Creator."
You've seen them before =96 free resume cover letters that promise to make your job a lot easier and faster. They're readily available, they offer you what you need and they don't cost a dime, so what's the harm?

The trouble with free resume cover letters Well, for starters, free resume cover letters do not maintain the same quality as other resume cover letters. If you're a job hunter who's been in the job market for too long, you know the kind of pressure you face everyday. Not only are the number of potential employers shrinking, the number of potential rivals for a job position also increases. As more and more people discover the very same job you're applying for, your chances of getting the job you want gets smaller and smaller.

That only makes using a resume cover letter extremely important. When you're too stressed out and worried about the competition, there is a possibility that you'll slip and produce a less than perfect resume cover letter, prime feed for the trash can or the paper shredding machine. That is not the kind of scenario you want. So why can't you not use free resume cover letters?

They're not all that bad, these free resume cover letters. Problem is, they're also not that good. They will do, but only for jobs that you're really not interested in or for those who have no other applicant other than you. Free cover letter samples are often not as excellently written and not as good as professionally prepared cover letter samples. In a job market where you'll need all the help you could get, free resume cover letters are simply not good news at all.

Using free resume cover letters Resume cover letters will say a great deal about you =96 they will inform your potential employer about your professional capabilities and give them a glimpse of what your personality is like.

Now let's take a look at how you'll use a free resume cover letter and see why it has 'cheap' written all over it. When you find a free resume cover letter, you'll usually find one that is written with a general feel of what a resume cover letter should read like. You get the usual greetings, introductions, body of the letter and your closing statements.

Since this cover letter was published to help everyone from a nanny to a chief financial officer, you'll have to change several elements in order to come up with a resume cover letter that seems tailored for your own particular qualifications. Now all you have to do is to mail it and hope for the best.

Problem is, once the hiring manager reads this so-called cover letter of yours, what will he see? A cover letter that looks so familiar he probably has read it before. In fact, he must have, considering that it must have been written using a free resume cover letter that has been available on the internet for the past five years.

Worse, it's probably been seen and used by thousands of other job hunters before you, some of which may have sent their applications using the very same free resume cover letter that you yourself used! Imagine how badly that will reflect on you.

Avoid this type of pitfall that is so common among job hunters that it should have been outlawed by now. It's hard enough to compete in a cutthroat job market. Actually ruining your chances with a badly written free resume cover letter is not just a mistake, it's a crime. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
How many people do you think apply for each of the jobs that you see listed online or in the newspaper? Every single one of those jobs is going to get at least a few hundred applicants, I am serious! That is why you need to make sure that your resume is one of a kind, that your resume is so fantastic that the employer is going to be driven to read it all the way through. It is your responsibility to make sure that every application and resume you send out is unique and that it will stand out. To do this, you first need to know what kinds of skills you have to put to use. Then, when you know what you have going for you, you can start listing them on your resume to get employers interested in you.

Internet job search sites are a great way to find a new and exciting job. No matter what industry you come from you can use these sites to find better jobs any day of the week. Hundreds and thousands of jobs are listed new each and every day all over the world

Start your online job search by checking out the jobs that you have direct experience doing. Then move onto some that you would like to try out. You can exaggerate your skill a bit, everyone does, but do not get carried away because you will get found out and that can get you into trouble down the line. Go with what you know and you will be that much better off in the long run.

You need to always have a good and engaging cover letter to go along with your resume. This cover letter is going to be your first impression so make it count. You also need to write a new cover letter for each and every job that you apply for. This is important because employers can spot canned cover letters at a glance, yours needs to be original and specific to the position that you are applying for.

Many people assume that when you are applying for the job online a cover letter is not something that needs to be attached. Your cover letter is the one place where you can outshine every single other applicant, so go for it. You want the employer to see you as the only one for the job and that is what your cover letter is going to do. In other words, if they liked your cover letter you have a much greater chance of getting the job, regardless of the talents listed on your resume.

You also need to make sure that the cover letter of your resume is showing all of your personality. Don't be afraid to be excited and show it. This can help you to sell yourself in a big way and that is what you want to do at all times. Employers want to see a little spark in these cover letters and resumes About The Author: Dana Goldberg is the editor of Resume Information Center.
One spends hours perfecting their resume when job hunting. They ensure that all their skills are well defined, and their job duties and titles sounds more professional than they really are. However, when it comes time to really sell themselves, they fall prey to a resume cover letter template. Why would they pair a well-written resume with a resume cover letter template which does nothing to compliment their job skills? I don't know either. A resume cover letter template's intention is to ease the stress of job-seekers. Yet it only makes it worse by ensuring an applicant does not get the desired position. One who uses a resume cover letter template does nothing to assist one from standing out to the hiring manager, which is the only way to earn an interview amongst hundreds, if not thoughts, of other job hunters.

A resume cover letter template does not contain the most important elements of any cover letter. The whole point behind a resume cover letter is to get an interview. In order to do this, a resume cover letter must be convincing and demonstrate all the skills one so painstakingly perfected on their resume. After committing so much time on creating a resume that looks professional, it makes little sense to leave the job underdone by using a resume cover letter template.

What is a resume cover letter template? A resume cover letter template is a pre-generated cover letter where one only has to "fill in the blanks". Resume cover letter templates can be found included in most word processing software (which I will never understand) or by doing a search on the internet. With resume cover letters so readily available, it goes to show that most people use this method when applying for jobs. It is also an assumption that the way to land an interview is by being one of the first applicants for the job. This is not necessarily the case. A hiring manager is looking for the best candidate for the job and is not simply going to choose the first person to come along. They want to find the best applicant. If a resume cover letter does not grab their attention, which is what a resume cover letter achieves, then they are not going to waste time reviewing the applicant further.

Using a resume cover letter template is the quickest way for one's resume to end in the trash pile. A resume cover letter template gives the impression that one is a nameless, faceless, and mindless individual who just wants to get a job, any job. This is not a promising characteristic of a potential employee. A company is looking for an individual which has passion and enthusiasm. They also want an employee who is dedicates to the company and wants to see the company excel. How is one going to convey this to a hiring manager when they are just blanks filled into a resume cover letter template?

The answer is simple. They aren't. It is important to move away from using resume cover letter templates and begin using a personalized resume cover letter that makes the hiring manager convinced that one is the right person for the position. It is definitely more work, at least a first, but the process of a personalized cover letter reaps greater benefits. The percentage of positive responses to a personalized cover letter, versus a resume cover letter template, is greater. Thus the amount of resumes a job-seeker has to send out is lessened. This makes the initial work of writing a resume cover letter even out against the traditional job-seeker which uses a resume cover letter template.

A personalized resume cover letter should, first and foremost, have a beginning sentence which makes the hiring manager interested enough to continue reading. If one can learn this value skill in writing a resume cover letter, then half the word is already done! A resume cover letter template will never be able to do this, no matter how special it or, or how much a website promises positive results. A resume cover letter template is just too general to be able to reach this accomplishment. So spend a little time learning what it is that makes a resume cover letter special, and then do it. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
On a daily basis, there are thousands of resume cover letters landing the desks of office recruiters. Just take note of the number of your competitors for the job. Therefore, this only calls for one thing-and that is you've got to work hard to set your own resume cover letter as uniquely as possible from the rest of the jobseekers out there. Mind you, you should always work on an interesting resume cover letter and a design that will only be associated with yourself. In their long stay in the business, the employers or recruiters have been faced with alike resume cover letters. This proves that if they happen to take a glimpse of very stereotyped resume cover letters, there will be a very minimal effect to them. Chances are you risk losing the supposed to be opportunity that will be your passport to a good future.

Jobseekers like you must bear in mind the fact to break free from the typical resume box. You have to start doing and writing your personalized resume cover letter. If the rest of your acquaintances prefer keeping their old resume cover letter styles, let them be. Do not risk your own opportunity and lose it with them. Remember that your resume cover letter must not only be effective but powerful as well. What should you include in your resume cover letter? Your resume cover letter must briefly discuss the plus points regarding your qualifications, expertise, and credentials. Include also pertinent organizations which you are a member of and come to a statement that will let the recruiter or employer remember you of. Your efficiency is a must. And that is a fact. A very lengthy resume cover letter will seem to have lesser impact to the employer or company recruiter. If you are already telling tales in your resume cover letter, then expect that not a single minute will be wasted on it.

If you cannot help but mention a detailed account of your credentials, you may opt to include a portfolio of yours in your resume cover letter. A portfolio includes all the relevant information regarding your very own credentials. It will function as a basis of you getting the job or not. The portfolio contains the projects which you have had handled and most of the times, this is passed on to the head of the company for scrutiny. The advantage of including a portfolio alongside your resume cover letter is that there is a higher chance of you grabbing a job opportunity.

Times have changed and the changes have also taken their toll on the resume cover letters. If it had been years ago since you had created your cover letter, take time to read and research on the ropes of today's trade on resume cover letters. Do not let your resume cover letters appear outdated. Be prepared to scout for a job as you arm yourself with an interesting resume cover letter.

Be sure to emphasize your experiences and skills in your resume cover letter.
When you apply for a professional job, you will need both a resume and a cover letter. While both of these are important in the job application process, it is the cover letter that your employer will see first. If your cover letter is not compelling, they will not want to turn to your resume. This is even the case if your resume was itself outstanding. For this reason you will want to do everything you can to make sure your cover letter is well-written. If you do not know how to properly write a cover letter read on as this article will explain what you need to do.

First, you will need to include your address then your employer's address if you are creating a printed cover letter. If your cover letter is simply an email, you can go straight towards the salutation. Pay close attention to the job ad to see if there are any names mentioned as contacts. If a name is not directly given, sometimes it can be deduced based on whatever email address is provided. If you find a first and last name, include it in your salutation followed by a colon. On the other hand, if you cannot find a name, you can say To whom it may concern or Dear Sir or Madam each followed by a colon.

The first paragraph of your cover letter needs to introduce yourself. You need to provide your full name and let the employer know you are interested in applying for their position. Make sure you also state where you found their ad from, so the employer will have a point of reference. This is especially helpful, since it is not uncommon that employers may have to send out dozens of ads for different positions.

The second and third paragraphs of your cover letter need to talk about why you are a qualified candidate for the job. You will want to showcase some of the strongest points of your resume, including your best-performing and highest-paying job, your academic achievements and all of your pertinent skills. However, try to use a lot of synonyms when talking about these points. You do not want a replica of your resume in these sections of the cover letter.

The last paragraph of your cover letter needs to let the employer know how to access your resume and any other documents you may have provided. If you are sending your resume through postal mail, you can simply say these things are enclosed. Yet, if you are sending your documents through email, you can say they are provided as an attachment. After this sentence thank the employer for their consideration. Conclude the cover letter by saying how you would look forward to working for the company if offered the chance.

So, all in all, writing a cover letter doesn't have too be extremely difficult. If you follow this formula and keep your letter brief, (since employers do not have time to be reading lengthy cover letters), you should be able to at least get your resume looked at. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Your free cover letter could be the kiss of death for your resume for many reasons. Cover letters are designed to get you an interview. There are many things wrong with free cover letters that instead of getting you an interview, they end up getting your resume sent to the trash can by a prospective employer. Once a prospective employer sends your resume to the trash can that is it with that company. There are seldom times when you will get a second chance with that company.

Free cover letters usually address the letter to sir/madam. Some of these free cover letters also address the cover letter 'to whom it may concern'. Both of these versions are wrong. A cover letter should be addressed to an actual person. This person is usually the contact person listed with the job advertisement. Prospective employers like to see that you care enough to find out the name of the person for whom the cover letter and resume are going to. Most junk mail that people receive ends up in the trash never even looked at. When you do not address your cover letter to an actual person you have made your cover letter look like the same junk mail everyone throws out. The former types of addressing is why your free cover letter could be the kiss of death for your resume.

Free cover letters also address a company in general with a position in which the job seeker will be applying for. Free cover letters never address a specific company with a specific need. You cover letter needs to address the specific company in which you are applying for and it also needs to address their hiring needs. When a prospective employer posts an ad for a position they will list qualifications they are looking for. When you don't address the specific hiring needs that the company has you are showing that you did not pay attention to their job advertisement. Prospective employers look closely at this and when they don't see that you have taken the time to address their needs and how you can fill their needs then they move on to the next applicant. Again this is another reason why your free cover letter is the kiss of death for your resume.

Free cover letters are used by almost anyone who has access to the same place where you got your free cover letter. This means that your prospective employer is seeing the same old cover letter over and over again. Your cover letter needs to be original and unique enough to capture your prospective employers attention thus landing you an interview. Free cover letters also do not show you how to make your cover letter look unique and fresh to prospective employers. While a cover letter does show a generalized idea of how to write a cover letter it does not show you have to make one look unique and fresh to your prospective employer. If your cover letter is not fresh and unique and the prospective employer is seeing it over and over again only with a different name attached then more than likely it will wind up in the trash can along with all the other applicants that tried to use the same free cover letter.

Another reason your free cover letter could be the kiss of death for your resume is that you are using the same free cover letter for each company you are applying for. Not only have you landed your resume in the trash with one company by submitting a cover letter such as the free one you obtained but you landed your resume in the trash with each place you have applied at. Your cover letter should not only be fresh and unique it must be a fresh and unique cover letter for each place in which you are applying. Never submit the same cover letter to more than one prospective employer. Make sure that you have written a new cover letter that is personalized for each and every prospective employer. This way you can avoid all the reasons why free cover letters could be the kiss of death for your resume. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Resume cover letter writing can be a chore for most people. There are a lot of misconceptions that most people have when they are doing their resume cover letter. While there are some who put too little information out of fear, some people get confused with what to write and end up writing too many details about themselves that are not really needed in their cover letter.

Writing a cover letter can be quite tricky for beginners. But once a potential applicant gets used to doing it, job offers will just come pouring in left and right. There are a few things to remember, encapsulated in three easy steps for the cover letter layman.

Step One: Mind Your Mindset

Your mindset in making your resume cover letter will affect its ultimated outcome. One of the best ways to really make sure you get it right is by relaxing and not stressing yourself to get it right. Sure, we all have this pressure to write our best in order to get hired, but the cover letter is not the be all and end all of life. You need to realize that the cover letter is just part of the elements which can help you land that job. In making that cover letter, you do not really need to interweave a concoction of intricate stories or a long account of your qualifications. Just a simple letter containing your intentions of applying and willingness to be interviewed for the position is more than enough. The shorter your letter, the better. Save the specific details for your resume and make your cover letter as light and brief as possible. While there are some things which are worth highlighting, you will do well if you do away with things that make it unnecessarily lengthy and overbearing for your reader.

Step Two: Do your research

You cannot expect to be able to relax in doing your cover letter if you are not knowledgeable on what your are doing. The research does not only include templates on cover letters that you can pattern your intended cover letter from. It also includes your knowledge on the company, the position you are applying for and the person who will be handling your application papers. You just have to know beforehand what happens to your cover letter, how to write it, who will receive it and how it will be processed. This way, you will save up much time and you will worry less.

Step Three: Do your draft

Finally, after doing all that research and mind-setting for yourself, you go ahead and do the draft. It does not need to be perfect. Remember, this is just a draft and it is something you can modify in case you want to add up or remove some details. This draft is also something you can modify over time. You can customize it in one way or another so that you will be able to meet and cater specific needs of the various jobs you may be applying for.

These three things are fairly simple but useful in making your resume cover letter. More importantly, it do know that the cover letter is just icing to the cake. You need to have an equally meaty resume to be coherent enough for your cover letter, as well as the ability to carry yourself once you land that coveted interview slot. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
In a world of technology the internet has made it possible for people who are not very good at writing a cover letter for their resume to obtain a free cover letter off the internet. Now this may allow for someone who is not knowledgeable in writing a cover letter to now have one for his/her resume but it also can make the employer kick the resume to the curb without ever giving the prospective employee a chance. The trash can is not where you want your resume to end up just because of some free cover letter you grabbed off the internet.

There are ways that you can use a free cover letter and still land an interview. First off you want to take the cover letter that you have and just use it as a starting point. Think about what it is that the employer is looking for in an employee. What are the needs of the company that you feel that you can fill for the company? Then add this into the cover letter that you have obtained to make the cover letter more personal. This will keep the free cover letter you are using from looking like the same run of the mill cover letters from other prospective employees that the employer is having come across their desk.

When obtaining a free cover letter that you will now be using as a template to create your own personal cover letter, make sure to remove the `To whom it may concern' and replace it with the employers name. If you do not know who the employer is that your resume is going to then make sure to call and find out. This part of your free cover letter will hurt your resume and your chances of getting an interview. By not using a name you will seem like you do not care enough about the person hiring you for them to care enough about you to give you a chance. So remove that part and replace it with the proper name.

In the area where you are to tell them about yourself this is where you need to make yourself shine. There are countless free cover letter samples on the internet that will show you one or two lines that you need to just change a few things around to fit you and then that is it. This is a bad idea and should be avoided at all cost. Make sure that when telling the company about you that you really make sure this area shines. You want the company to see who you are and why you would be an asset to them. Tell the company why they should be hiring you. All of this can not be done in two sentences, so stretch out what your free cover letter is showing you.

After you have told them why they should hire you there is an area below that to tell them why you are choosing them. If your free cover letter that you obtained does not have an area for this then add it in there. A company wants to know why you are choosing them and what it is about them that appeals to you. If you do not know off hand anything real personal about the company that you can tell them appeals to you then you need to do some look closer into the company. Be honest in your cover letter about what appeals to you. By adding this part to your free cover letter you will be not only personalizing your cover letter so it sticks out but also you will be complimenting the prospective employer. We all know that compliments can go along way.

At the end of your cover letter add your signature using what all business correspondence calls for which is blue or black ink. Make sure that your signature is neat and readable. Sloppy signatures will give the wrong impression about you and this is what you want to avoid doing. A neat and readable signature added to the free cover letter says a lot to your prospective employer and this is what you want when trying to get an interview. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
When hunting for a new job, the primary key tools that you need are an excellent resume and a back up resume cover letter. These two masterpieces are your ways of introducing yourself to the employer. The resume cover letter is a separate page which is tailored according to specific companies. This will point out the skills and qualities that you can offer for the company.

The resume cover letter generally features your interest for the position, it sums up the most significant aspects of your job history, education and relevant trainings and the contact details by which the employer can reach you if you are already to be called in for an interview.

Since the resume cover letter serves as the front liner of your resume, it must be able to hook the interest of the potential employer to continue reading through to your resume. It is only then that he could look closely at your qualifications. Admit it or not, a lousy resume cover letter drives the employer to read the next file instead. And sadly, your qualification details are ignored. After all, there are a lot more applicants who are equally competitive but can compose effective and interesting resume cover letters.

So what will make your resume cover letter a masterpiece? There are some points to ponder on, these will guide you to a captivating resume cover letter.

First and foremost, address the resume cover letter to the right person responsible for deciding on hiring matters. Spell his name correctly because it's a big turn off if he finds his name misspelled. You cannot blame him if he dumps your resume because of this carelessness. In parallel to this, same importance should be considered in stating his position. Use general titles such as andquot;Missandquot;, andquot;Mr.andquot;, andquot;Madameandquot; or andquot;Sirandquot; instead if you are not sure of his specific title.

A resume cover letter should be personalized for every company recipient. And it must be an original work since a plagiarized one may not be able to represent you at all. Besides, this will also test your uniqueness and style. The resume cover letter gives you the chance to stand out from the pack by proving your skills in writing and in advertising yourself to the company.

As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, the resume cover letter is personalized for every company. Therefore, you will need to do a comprehensive research about the company, its goals and its works. If you know these things, you can as well justify why you qualify to be employed in the company and the possible contributions that you can share to its development.

Meaningful words and phrases in the cover letter will give you plus points. These are the technical and essential words which are found in the ad posted by the company. If you can use them intelligently, you can make an impression that the job is for you.

Proofread your resume cover letter so as to avoid even one misspelled word or typing error. If you are not yet satisfied with the resume cover letter that you have done, continue revising it until you can be confident about it. You must take note that if it will not pass your own standards, it will hardly pass the standards of others.

A masterpiece resume cover letter is one which can speak in behalf of you, do it sloppily and you are sloppy, do it efficiently and you will be viewed as a probable asset to the company. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Whenever you send a resume to a company in the hopes of attaining a job, you should always include a cover letter. Many people have more of a difficult time writing the cover letter than the actual resume. A cover letter is not difficult to write and if you would like to see a sample resume cover letter, go online and take a look at some of the letters exhibited on some of the employment websites. They are pretty much form letters.

A sample of a resume cover letter should look something like this:

Dear,

My name is xxxxx and I am a file clerk. I am enclosing my resume in response to your ad in the Chicago Sun Times for a file clerk. I have been working as a file clerk for the previous three years at the XYZ Law Firm and feel I have all of the qualifications you seek.

I can be reached during the day at xxxxx or by e-mail at xxxxxx. I would very much like an opportunity to sit down with you and discuss the opportunity offered in the Chicago Sun Times.

Thank you for your time and attention. I hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Name

This is a typical sample resume cover letter. Short and to the point. The first thing you want to do is introduce yourself and your profession. After you do this, you should mention the fact that you have enclosed your resume in response to their ad. You should be certain to mention where you read their ad, whether it was online or in the newspaper. Make sure that you also reference the job that was advertised.

You will want to tell a little bit about yourself in your resume cover letter, but you do not have to elaborate too much. Remember that you are enclosing a resume that will tell your perspective employer all about you. The cover letter is a mere formality. A polite touch to the resume. Many employers do not even read them and they often get tossed away. There is no need to write the great American Novel in your cover letter. But the letter is still necessary.

As you may have noticed in the sample resume cover letter, there is information where the person applying for the job can be reached. And telling the employer that you want to discuss the opportunity is a nice touch in a cover letter. It indicates that you want to learn more about the company. It is just as important for an employee to want to work for the company as it is for the employer to want the employee. An employee should never sound desperate in a cover letter.

Another point in the sample resume cover letter is the prerequisite thank you for your time and a hope to hear from them. This is a very simple sample resume cover letter. It is very to the point and is ideal for someone seeking a mid level job.

If you are seeking a professional level job, such as an attorney, you may want to elaborate a bit more in your over cover letter. Short and sweet is nice for most jobs, but for a professional position, you may want to talk about some of your accomplishments and how you heard about the opening. You can also talk about what you wish to accomplish in your career goals.

One thing you should never put in a cover letter is anything about salary, although more and more employers, particularly those online, are asking for salary requirements to be mentioned in the cover letter. This is usually done to weed out the people who will want too much money as the employers who ask for this information up front normally do not offer high pay. If you are interested in applying for such a position, be sure to add this information as directed.

To find a good sample resume cover letter, you can seek some of the information online at the employment websites. There are also various books on this subject. However, it is not really a difficult task to write a cover letter to accompany a resume.

Prior to writing your cover letter, check out a sample resume cover letter online and study the wording. Be certain to follow the rules as indicated above and make sure you check your spelling and grammar prior to sending the letter to the employer along with your resume. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
There are two main types of cover letters - document transmittal cover letters and resume cover letters. Document details the documents attached to the cover letter. This cover letter normally accompanies legal papers, booklets, reports, travel documents, product samples, manuscripts, and the like.

Resume cover letter accompanies your resume to prospective employers. The main purpose of such a cover letter is to generate sufficient interest in the reader to consider your resume favorably. The following ten tips can help you write an effective resume cover letter:

1. An ideal cover letter should not exceed a page in length. It should set a professional tone and the language should be free of all unnecessary jargon and similar high-sounding words. A simple expression through easy and common words can create an impressive cover letter.

2. Your cover letter should project your unique qualities and qualifications that give you an edge over other candidates. All the time maintain a concise description of your abilities.

3. Use quality stationery. Your stationery should match your qualities as expressed in your cover letter. Also, maintain same stationery for both your cover letter and resume. Follow the same font and leave large white spaces in between albeit adhering to normal letter and resume specifications.

4. Address your cover letter to a specific person. Do not address it vaguely. Instead, collect relevant information from the company in question and address it to the particular person concerned with hiring of personnel.

5. Your cover letter need not be a long description of your abilities. Rather proceed into the details right from the start as the reader spends just a few seconds going through your letter. You have to create your impression within that time.

6. An effective resume cover letter is essentially a sales letter of your qualifications and abilities. Therefore, you need to sell yourself through your letter.

7. Your selling should be according to the needs of the company. You have to show how you can make a difference to the company.

8. State all facts in clear terms without any ambiguity or exaggeration. You should be ready with all answers at the interview table. Therefore, do not paint any wrong pictures of yourself.

9. Ideally, you should request for an interview in your cover letter. You cannot be waiting for the employer to give you a call. Therefore, it is essential to have a follow-up plan detailed in your cover letter itself.

10. The last but not the least is to adhere to your follow-up plan. You can give a call to your employer to inquire about your application after giving sufficient time. <bio>Michael Murray publishes a site filled with helpful articles about how to write great cover letters: http://www.coverlettersreport.com </bio>

There are countless workshops out there on how to write a great resume. Even colleges offer a service to have your resume reviewed and if needed rewritten. You can buy software to help you write your resume. You can even hire someone to either help you write your resume or write it completely themselves. It's amazing how much help is given just to write a resume but yet there is no one to help you write a cover letter. In fact, most people don't even know what a cover letter is, why it's needed, let alone how to write it.

First let's address what a cover letter is. Those who have heard of cover letters might tell you it's a letter that accompanies your resume. Ok, but what does the letter entail? Is it a letter just saying "hi, please read my resume"? Is is a letter where you beg to be hired? Not exactly. You know how on the awards show like the Oscars, or the Golden Globes whenever an actor/actress receives a lifetime achievement award, they have someone come out and quickly recap their career before presenting them? Well a cover letter works somewhat along those lines. A cover letter presents you and your resume. A cover letter is going to tell an employer why, out of all the other applicants they have, they should interview you.

To begin, a good cover letter is short, and to the point. No cover letter should be more than 2-3 paragraphs long and it should NEVER be more than a page long. If you cover letter is more than a page long, then it is too long and will more than likely be tossed aside. Keep in mind the sole purpose of your cover letter is to sell yourself and land an interview. A cover letter that rambles on and on is not going to sell you. Keep it short and stay focused and stay to the point.

Your first paragraph is your introduction. This is the paragraph that tells the employer why you are applying for the job. This is also a good paragraph to show off your knowledge of the company and why you would be an ideal match for the position. You don't need to mention how you came across the position especially if it was something you saw in the paper or online. Unless it is from a mutual contact, the employer really doesn't care how you heard about them. They would much rather know what you heard about them and what you can bring to the table for them.

Your second paragraph is almost a recap of your resume. There is no need to recap your whole resume, only the highlights. Make sure though that those highlights pertain to the position you are applying for. There is no need to mention how you coordinate appointments for the VP of company XYZ if you are applying for a sales job. On the other hand, it would be good to point out how you helped increase sales in one quarter in your cover letter. This is where you show that your experience and your skills make you an ideal candidate for the position. It's where you really get to present your resume. This is the paragraph that is usually tailored to the company. It's where your research of the position will come into play. Remember you are only going to highlight those points of your resume that pertain to the position.

Your last and final paragraph should be your shortest. This is the key paragraph where you ask for that interview and give the employer options to contact you. This is also the paragraph where you can give the employer a date that you will follow up with them. While following up with them is an excellent idea, do not put it in your resume if you have no intention of calling them. It's not a necessity to do this, but it does leave a good impression on the employer. It shows them that you are not afraid to take initiative and go for what you want. Also, make sure you thank the employer for their time and consideration before you sign the letter.

Writing a cover letter can be a tad bit intimating. Follow these simple guidelines and you will sail through it and find your phone ringing sooner than you expect it for that interview. Remember your resume might get you that job, but your cover letter will get you in the door. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
A person looking for a job can now take advantage of applying for certain jobs simultaneously through the Internet. The use of online submissions of application letters has made applying for a job as easy as 123. However some job applicants have committed and are still committing a mortal sin in job applications.

Job applications should always come with a cover letter no matter if it is being sent the traditional way that is by snail mail, or by email. Some people believe that a cover letter is no longer important since they already sent their comprehensive resume.

However, job applicants should be aware that a comprehensive resume or bio-data is different from a cover letter. A resume is called comprehensive because it can take on as many pages as your qualifications and job experiences may require.

On the other hand, a cover letter should be a short letter which should not even exceed a page. A cover letter is actually the first part of the application of a person and this is the first thing that most human resources managers see and base their decisions on.

Human resources managers and even their staff do not have all the time in the world to read very long resumes. Thus a person who wants to get an interview with a company should write a very brief, concise and interesting cover letter that would get him an interview.

Most human resources staff just take a look at the cover letter and see if the applicant has all the basic requirements for the job. An application without a cover letter would not help at all and in most cases it would just be thrown or misplaced.

Writing a very good cover letter or introduction is thus a very important t part of every job application. Job applicants should learn how to write a very good cover letter because it is the only way they will be able to catch the attention of the hiring officer no matter if they have a very good resume.

A cover letter is much like a sales letter which provides a one-page summary of how the applicant meets the requirement of the vacant position being sought by the company. A person who can write a very good cover letter is assured that he will be able to go to the next phase of every job application d that is a job interview.

Once the applicant has been chosen and scheduled for an interview then this will be the time when his comprehensive resume will be of use. It is a given that almost if not all people called for an interview already meets the basic or the minimum requirements of the company. However, their resumes will show who among them has an edge over the others.

A cover letter actually gets a person through the door of the company while the comprehensive resume makes sure that he gets his foot permanently in the company concerned.

Writing a winning cover letter could not be achieved in one sitting except of course if the applicant is a very talented and convincing salesman or writer. Like most things, a person has to practice writing his cover letter until he gets it right. It may be a strenuous pursuit but if the aim is to be called for an interview then a person has no choice but to do it. <bio>Mario Churchill is the President of CareerJimmy and author of "Amazing Cover Letter Creator."
There are few professions one would consider fearless as much as those professionals who teach. They are amazingly brave and strong people that are willing to stand in front of a classroom of children, or worse yet, teens and try to share knowledge day in and out. For people like me who are in awe of their bravery it is a constant source of amazement that their kryptonite seems to be, in many cases, the blank page that should somehow become the cover letter for their resumes.

Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil for teachers and a fear that must be overcome in order to get the desirable, or quite often better paying teaching positions that exists. If you are among the many teachers out there that has difficulty facing the demon known as the resume cover letter keep reading for some excellent advice that will re-teach you the ins and outs of this important tool for getting that interview.

First of all, first impressions matter. When it comes to a resume cover letter, no one is going to read the resume if you don't have their attention with the cover letter. Make sure your cover letter gets their attention from the very start for best results and keeps that attention throughout. You do not want the reader of your cover letter skimming over the good stuff through boredom. Make your cover letter personable, interesting, and entertaining. In other words, show them who you are as much as possible in one little page.

Keep the cover letter on target. Do not get sidetracked by listing all your wonderful character traits or interests that have very little to do with the job of teaching. You have a limited amount of space to convince the hiring body that they need you stay focused on that goal and tell them why they need you and how you can help them.

You've probably heard more than once that you will never get what you are looking for unless you ask for it. Keep this in mind when it comes to cover letters. What you want from your cover letter is a job ultimately but initially an interview. With this in mind, ask for an interview in a prominent location during the writing of your cover letter and restate your desire for an interview near the end of your cover letter (this allows those who skim the middle of the cover letter the opportunity to see your request for an interview if they missed it the first time).

You should also keep your cover letter short and sweet. Don't rehash your resume in your cover letter. This is the mistake that other teachers are making, don't let it happen to you. Use your cover letter instead to tell a little about what you can bring to the table that is unique to you. Do not fill the page with the things you cover on your resume instead use this opportunity to succinctly state why they should bother to read your resume and invite you to interview over the other applicants vying for the same position. Keep your cover letter short and to the point for best results. The less detail driven it becomes and the more personable it appears the more likely it is that your resume will actually be read over the others.

Keep the language in your cover light and friendly as though you were talking to a colleague. This will create the greatest possible first impression and keep you from becoming overly dry during the course of writing your cover letter. Dry is out when it comes to cover letter these days you want something that is a little bit new and different from the others. You should also make it sound as though you are actually excited about the opportunity for which you are applying. Enthusiasm is an excellent tool for getting the interview and if it is genuine will often get you hired over those who may be `more' qualified so keep this in mind not only when creating your cover letter but also when preparing for the interview that you are sure to have after sending in your awesome cover letter. <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Believe it or not you do not need to prick your fingertips with blood and use it as ink in order to write an impressive cover letter that will complement your resume quite nicely. In fact, if you are willing to look at the cover letter writing process in a rather unconventional light you just might find that the process can be almost fun in a challenging sort of way.

Most people fail from the start when it comes to writing a cover letter because they somehow miss the point of writing one all together. A good cover letter is not a summary of the resume at all. In fact, a good cover letter merely invites the hiring manger to read the resume rather than rehashing the bland details that are more often than not contained in the resume. Your cover letter should be anything but bland if you are hoping for results. Hiring managers sift through dozens if not hundreds of bland cover letters on a daily basis. If you want to create a resume that will stand out you need to create one that is fun to read. The best way to do that is to have some degree of fun while writing it. Yes, you did read that correctly, I said have fun with your cover letter.

Having fun while writing a cover letter shows hiring managers that you can have fun with some of the less pleasant tasks that will be required in the real working world as well and definitely sets you apart from those boring two-dimensional cover letters that are littering the wasteland known as the dead pile of cover letters. If you want a few extra brownie points you might try laughing while writing your cover letter chances are if you find it funny and entertaining so might the hiring manager that has been bored to tears for hours sifting through all the others.

The purpose of the cover letter is not to highlight your skills, education, or prowess in your field but rather to entice the hiring manger that yours is the resume he or she wants to pay attention to over the many others that have graced his or her desk. You are not likely to do this if your cover letter sounds like all the others that have come his or her way. Make it sound different, add your `voice' to your cover letter and make sure it is your voice at its best. You want your cover letter to be an interesting and entertaining read that is actually true to who you are. Your personality should fill the page if you are really interested in landing the interview. Of course you will want to make sure you bring your personality along with you when the interview occurs so that they know you are one and the same person that wrote the cover letter.

If you are still too nervous about writing the cover letter to inject it with your personality you should change your mind set about your cover letter. The cover letter isn't about getting the job. That should never be the purpose of writing a cover letter. The goal of your cover letter should be in getting the interview. This takes a little bit of the stress off and reminds you that the job search process is much more than one thing though a great cover letter can definitely open the door to an interview you will need to shine in the interview as well. Do not hinge all hopes of getting the job on the cover letter though or you will find that you come across far too bland and are held back from showing the hiring manager that true appeal of your personality through fear.

Cover letters can be stressful but if you make them fun you will find that you procrastinate less and, more importantly, land more interviews when all is said and done. Hiring managers hire people to work with their companies and not a set of skills. If you keep this in mind it is much easier to write a winning cover letter and enjoy (well almost) the process of doing so.

<bio>Mario Churchill is the President of CareerJimmy and author of andquot;Amazing Cover Letter Creator.andquot; Visit him at: http://www.amazing-cover-letters.com for your andquot;instantandquot; cover letter today. </bio>

Your resume is your invisible mouthpiece that speaks volumes about you, the job seeker. If your resume fails to impress the reader within five seconds, consider yourself doomed. Here are my tips to write a better cover letter for your resume. Remember, you only get one chance to make a good first -- and sometimes lasting -- impression.

Here is how you can increase your odds of creating a cover letter to grab the reader's attention:

TIP 1. Keep it brief. Your resume is a 1-2 page document that conveys your qualifications, therefore you don't want to include how great you are and why.

TIP 2. Remember your cover letter serves a purpose. It is announcing you -- and your enclosed information, your resume.

TIP 3. Your cover letter should state in 1-2 lines what you're doing: "I'm applying for the position of..." or "Enclosed is my resume for the position of ..."

TIP 4. Clearly state what position you're applying for. Don't assume the contact person will automatically know what job you want.

TIP 5. Highlight a few of your strong traits or skills. Although brevity is the key here, you don't want to merely say, "Here's my resume. See you later."

TIP 6. Don't repeat contact information. You resume should include that pertinent information.

TIP 7. Don't staple your cover letter to your resume; instead use a paperclip or nothing at all. Whoever reads your resume may need to photocopy it, and it will frustrate him to waste time unhinging the staple without ripping the cover letter.

TIP 8. Grammar Mistakes. That's an obvious one. It's hard to proofread your own work. Find another person to critique your cover letter and resume. You're dead in the water if your cover letter is littered with misspellings, poor grammar or typos.

Below is a cover letter you can use as a guide:

----------------------
Today's Date

Contact Person, Job Title
Department
COMPANY NAME HERE
RE: NAME OF VACANT POSITION

Enclosed please find my resume. I am interested in working with you as your POSITION TITLE. As you will see from my enclosed resume I am qualified in a many areas (or you can state, 'I am uniquely qualified for this position because of my vast experience in ...'). My college degrees are in Business Administration with a minor in Management. I have spent the last two decades performing INSERT SIMILAR RESPONSIBILITIES.

I am anxious to discuss this opportunity with you further.

Respectfully,

Your Name

-----------------------

As you as can see, the above cover letter is short and to the point. It serves its purpose by prefacing your resume. Don't waste your time rambling on. As it stands, you have a 50/50 chance the reader will fully read your cover letter. A lengthy cover letter will only cripple your chances of the reader reading your resume. Follow the above simple steps and you'll make a great first impression. Of course, it's up to you to back up what you say with your knowledge, skills and abilities; but at least you're starting off in the right direction!<bio>Brian Scott is a contributing writer for http://www.LousyWriter.com, a free website on how to write better.
