As CD sales sour, the music industry is evolving in a peculiar way. Music lovers' are turning their attention to the past, reverting back to vinyl records.

For some it is an enjoyable hobby, recapturing a part of their youth. Yet for others, collecting vinyl records is a passion, as they scour the online web sites, record conventions, garage and rummage sales and small resale shops to secure their favorite records and add to their collecting collage of vinyl.

However, if you were to ask them why records are so appealing most will tell you it is the sound of vinyl that is the most enjoyable. They may be tired of the sterile music reproduction of a cd or digitized download. You will hear the term, "vinyl just has a warmer sound" or that they love the experience, an almost ritualistic pattern that is involved in playing a vinyl record.

But I think the best way to describe the sound that vinyl exudes is an analogy I like to use. A vinyl record is like a "fingerprint" of the recorded music. There is a clearness and clarity to the music, and the sound is actually captured and etched into the grooves of the records. Conversely, digital sound is like a copy of that "fingerprint" and something is lost when the music is compressed into 1's and 0's, or what I refer to as "binary sound."

Now, this phenomenon may be satisfactory to some and the CD certainly has its place as a musical format. In our throw away society, CD's offer convenience and a method to play music that the vinyl record cannot offer. But "binary sound," to me, is just too clear- you are missing important elements of the recorded sound, sounds that the artist who recorded the music wanted you to hear.

In our digitized world there are compelling arguments for whatever sound reproduction format a person chooses. But you will never take the vinyl lover out of me. <bio>Copyright 2007-Robert Benson Author Robert Benson writes about rock/pop music and operates http://www.collectingvinylrecords.com, where you can secure your copy of his ebook called "The Fascinating Hobby Of Vinyl Record Collecting."
Many musicians confuse copyrighting music with registering music; these are two different things. According to the law in the United States, once you have written or recorded your music in a permanent form, it is automatically copyrighted.

Of course, it might help to first understand what it means to copyright music in the first place. A copyright is a certain legal protection that is offered to those who compose creative works, whether those works are art, music, or the written word. The U. S. Constitution states there are limits one can place on the amount of time the work is exclusively protected.

If you copyright music, this means you (and you alone) have the right to use your work or allow others to use your work. You also have the right to distribute copies of your work. Whether those copies are in the form of written or sheet music or recorded music to the public as well as the right to perform your music for the public.

There is something called Fair Use (more commonly known as the Fair Use Doctrine) that allows anyone to use your written or recorded music for the purpose of research, news reporting, commentary, or criticism. In other words, there are times when the use of copyrighted material is deemed appropriate without the consent of the one holding the copyright.

In some cases, copyrighting music alone is not enough to protect your music, at least not without going through a lot of hoops to do so. One of the things you can do to protect your copyright is provide notice of copyright. This involves writing a simple statement such as using the word "copyright," the date, and your name at the bottom of your sheet music or on the case for the recording or the actual recording itself. CDs are the most common means for recording devices today and a notice of copyright can easily be added to the exterior of your CD or on your label if you have one printed.

Why copyright music? The answer is simple: so others cannot take credit for your hard work and creative genius. For extra protection you may want to register your copyright as well. Registering your copyright will provide you with formal legal documentation of your ownership of your music should anyone attempt to claim rights to your music or dispute the true ownership/authorship of your music.

You must have your copyright registered if you wish to file a copyright infringement suit; it is, in my opinion, better to not only copyright music during the creation process, but also to register your copyright before it could possibly become an issue. Registering a copyright is not a difficult a process. Basically it involves filling out an application, paying a filing fee (check with the U. S. Copyright Office for the current amount), and a copy of the work you want to protect.

Your music doesn't have to be published to obtain a copyright. Music should be copyrighted and registered long before the publication process to protect your rights as the creator of the music. Whether you are dabbling with cute little limericks or writing masterpieces and concertos, you want to make sure to copyright music earlier rather than later for the best possible outcome should any problems arise. <bio>Brian Scott is a freelance journalist who covers copyright law for http://www.ResearchCopyright.com.
The expiration date on your copyrighted music isn't something you have to worry about, at least not in your lifetime. The music that you've written is copyrighted the moment you've put it onto paper or recorded it. The reason you don't have to worry about expiration is because the music is protected until 70 years after the death of the author. In the case of your music, that author would be you.

This rule about copyright music expiration was first put into place so that the families and heirs of an author could still earn royalties even after his or her death. Ultimately this means that if you've taken the steps to copyright your music and have registered the copyright, then your music will be protected throughout your lifetime until 70 years after you or the last surviving author (assuming a collaboration) is deceased.

Copyright music expiration is not something you should make a primary concern unless you are having issues of someone respecting and/or honoring your copyright at the moment. You should take comfort in the fact that as long as you are alive you are the only one who can assign your copyright to another person; and as long as you haven't given up your ownership of the music it still belongs to you.

This is different, however, if your copyrighted music was work "made for hire." If that is the case then you cannot have ownership of the music, as it never legally belonged to you, but the person or entity who hired you to produce the music. Works made for hire have different copyright music expiration than those owned by the creator. With works made for hire, the copyrights are in effect for 95 years from the original publication date or for 120 years from the creation of the work, whichever of the two is shorter. <bio>Brian Scott is a freelance journalist who covers copyright law for http://www.ResearchCopyright.com. </bio>

So you've exchanged vows, and have said your 'I do's, now it's time to head out to the reception and party like you've never partied before. If you want live music playing in your reception, then you would want to hire a live band. But first, you must check with people that rent the venue where you're going to hold your reception, to see what type of live music they allow. Some venues have stringent restrictions when it comes to live music.

The type of music that you choose to play in your wedding should be an expression of both the bride and groom's personality, personal taste, and the overall theme of the wedding.

It's very important to select the right music, because the music will become a pervading presence all through out the wedding, and right down to the reception. Music creates an atmosphere. It will set the mood of your wedding.

During the wedding itself, the choice of music usually depends on the wedding. Most church ceremonies don't allow secular music. They stick to more traditional, or religious music. A man and a woman duet is usually sung during the ceremony. A church organist usually provides the majority of the music.

For the reception, the bride and groom has a choice of recorded music, or live music. If you opt for recorded music, it would be best to hire the services of a DJ. The best thing about this, is you can request to have all of your favorite songs in the playlist. Ask your friends if they know any good DJs that are willing to play for wedding receptions. If they don't know any, you could always just search the yellow pages, internet, or even contact your local radio station.

Once you've settled on a DJ, have a one-on-one discussion with the DJ. Just to explain what type of entertainment and mood you want to have during the reception. Also discuss, the selection of music that you have in mind. Ask if the DJ's familiar with wedding protocol. If not, you might want to brief the DJ first about the sensibility of the event.

On the other hand, choosing live music offers you a choice of hiring a band, soloist, instrumentalists, jazz group, etc. It all depends on what kind of theme you have in mind for you wedding.

For more formal weddings, classical groups, piano soloists, and instrumentalists are more appropriate. It would not be a bad idea, to also consider the sensibilities of your guests, to ensure that everyone has a good time!

If you want to have a rocking good time for the reception of your wedding, then hiring a band is the way to go! The energy of a live band gets people going. There's nothing else that spells a rocking good time better, than a rock and roll band.

Before hiring a band, ask them if you could listen to their music first. This will help you decide if that particular band is just right for you. Also discuss, if the band will do emcee duties, as well as provide the music.

It's best to hire a band that has had previous experience with wedding receptions. This way, they'd know what to expect, and will be able to provide the proper entertainment that's fitting for the occasion.

You always want to keep the music going, so include some background music even when the meals are being served, or when the bride and groom are doing their rounds of greeting, having their pictures taken, etc. This will also maintenance the atmosphere of the wedding all through out the reception. So choose wisely, because your choice of music can make or break this occasion! <bio>Download our excellent discount wedding planning mini-course absolutely FREE at http://www.discountweddingguide.com/ </bio>

There will be music played throughout the day at your wedding. Some areas you will want to remember to arrange music for include the period of time as the guests begin arriving at the ceremony venue, special music for the recessional and processional, special music as the wedding party signs the marriage license, some music for after the recessional is complete, music while guests arrive and begin mingling at the reception venue, background music during the reception dinner, any music for the formal reception presentations, and finally the music you will be dancing to.

For each of these choices, you will have to decide if you want to go with a live band, a DJ, a mix of your own music, or a combination. Most people decide on a combination, with each area getting a different treatment.

As guests enter the ceremony venue, music is best handled by having an organist or a pianist playing songs as they enter the main auditorium. This is by no means concrete, and you may also choose to just have a CD playing in the background.

For the processional, you may again choose between live music and recorded music. The processional should be mainly instrumental, and there are many songs to choose from. Most processional songs are ones that are originally recorded using instruments only, and are often classics such as the popular Canon in D.

The musical selection should change with the entrance of the bride, and though "Here Comes the Bride" remains the most popular choice for the bride's walk, many brides are beginning to select their songs as an illustration of their individual tastes. Again, the song choice should be one that does not include words in the original writing.

As the bride and groom and others sign the marriage license, most weddings will include a special number by a live singer or group and some accompanying instruments. The song choice should reflect the emotion of the moment, as two lives are joined together in harmony by free will.

The recessional offers a great opportunity to choose a fun song that reflects a festive mood as well as the tastes of the couple. The recessional represents the moment that the couple is first introduced as being married to the public, and there will often be clapping and cheering. Have some fun with the moment- some songs that I have known couples to choose include "Winnie the Pooh", a punk version of "Earth Angel", "Rock the Kasbah" and "Oh, Boy!" by both Buddy Holly and MXPX.

At the reception, you will want to make sure you have a sound system set up that is suitable for your chosen music. There should be music played as guests come in and during dinner, as well as any planned performances during the formal program. After the program, it is time for the music to be turned up and the dancing to begin.

The bride and groom should pick the music for both their first dance together and the second dance, which will be with the parents. These song choices are totally up to the discretion of the couple. <bio>Porche Reingold managed to pull off her dream wedding for just $3000.
Free copyright music is often mistaken with free public domain music or music in which the copyright has expired. A copyright is in place for the lifetime of the author plus 70 years. If more than one songwriter has authored the music, then the copyright will be in effect for 70 years after the death of the last surviving contributor.

This copyright law was created to ensure that the heirs of the songwriter would also benefit from the royalties after the music's writer or composer was no longer living. It is important to remember that these laws are the current laws; music written at different points in time are most likely subject to different copyright laws. When searching for free copyright music it is always a good idea to search through music that is very old rather than focusing your search on more recent musical selections, as they will most likely still be protected under copyright.

When using free copyright music or public domain music, you must be certain the copy you are using is within the copyright period. Any music published before 1922 is public domain music. This does not, however, include derivatives or new versions of that music which may still be under copyright protection. Finding a copy of the music with the copyright date included, if that date is prior to 1922, is the best route to ensure you are complying with current copyright laws and you not infringing on someone else's copyright.

Written music is protected differently than recorded music. Almost every sound recording copyrighted in the United States is protected until 2067. If you need a sound recording you should either purchase one or make one of your own. You can find many free copyright music by searching on Google; which allows free use of the music and free of any royalty payments.

Copyright laws in the United States are different than they are in other countries. If you wish to use music that is or was under copyright in another country, then you must follow the laws that apply to the particular piece of music. Free copyright music is available in almost every country and many genres; the trick is finding great sources where you can easily find this music.

There is a project called Mutopia, which operates like project Gutenberg. Mutopia provides free copyright music. The Gutenberg project also has a section devoted to free sheet music, in addition to its wonderful resources for books. Each of these projects provides excellent resources to find free copyright music for whatever reason.

Whether you are a musician seeking inspiration from the music of old or hoping to find a composition -- which you can rearrange and make your own -- there are many ways you can achieve your goals that will not violate current copyright laws. The key is learning the copyright laws both where you live and countries in which the music you seek to modify. <bio>Brian Scott is a freelance journalist who covers copyright law for http://www.ResearchCopyright.com. Different people like different music to meditate by. Some like to have music playing in the background while they meditate while others like the form of meditation that involves making music to meditate by.

Meditation is a simple and easy art and even children can easily practice it. With music to meditate by meditation can be made even more interesting for children. You get a choice of meditation music that is especially meant for children.

Whatever form of meditation you choose, it is important to remember that music to meditate by should be simple, calm, soothing and peaceful. It should induce feelings of inner peace and help you to focus. Loud music to meditate by is destructive and unproductive. It is distracting and creates feelings of chaos. The most popular musical instruments associated with meditation include the sitar, flute, Tibetan singing bow and the tambora.

While some people use music to meditate by, there are many musicians who use meditation to calm themselves and to stay focused before any major performance. It also helps you to enjoy the music more.

If you are looking for music to meditate by, there are plenty on online websites that offer different kinds of meditation music that you can buy.
The question: andquot;What features should I look for when choosing audio recording software?andquot; The answer: andquot;It depends on what you want to record.andquot;

There are many low cost recording programs available that can be used to record from existing media (tape, cd's, vinyl lp's) or from radio and internet broadcasts. Even these low priced software programs have editing features and native effects that can be applied to the recording.

Live recording is best accomplished by using multitrack recording/editing software that incorporates tools and effects suitable for application to live voices and instruments, one of the most important being compression. Compression is essential to level the extremes in volume that inevitably occur in live recording.

Several features/capabilities should be considered when choosing software for live music recording (listed below).

Required features:

1. Recording - record multiple stereo tracks

2. Editing - edit a track's waveform

3. Mixing - mix multiple tracks into one stereo track

4. Effects - native (built-in) effects such as delay, reverb, fade in, fade out, flanger, compressor and various high/low filters

5. File conversion - convert to/from the most popular music formats such as wav, wma, mp3

Additional useful features:

6. Plug-ins - accepts 3rd party software plug-in effects and tools

7. Ripping - pull individual tracks from music cd's

8. Burning - copy recorded tracks to cd audio

Optional features (depending on need):

9. Midi - record midi instruments (midi keyboards, synthesizers, guitars)

10. Video - synchronize audio with video files

So, in conclusion, if you are recording music to computer from pre-recorded media, you can certainly get by with software on the low end of the price spectrum. But, if you want to create professional sounding mixes from live music, you'll need the higher level of sophistication available in a quality multitrack recording program.

Cost shouldn't be an issue in the choice as the difference in price between the low end software package and a quality multitrack program can be as little as $10 - $20. <bio>Steve Leedy is the owner/webmaster of http://www.pcmusicstuff.com, an audio recording information and software site. </bio>

Music is a masterpiece of art created out of deep passion of rendering an emotion of love, fear, happiness and joy. It could also be inspirational or encouraging type. Most musicians create music based on their experience and environment. It can also be created out of every day's life experience that they observed. Music can touch the heart and give a soothing and calming effect. It can also give strength and power. For this reason music has been the appreciated by people of all ages.

When the created music is recorded and mixed it is normal that the musician indulge in giving the best in its rendition. They are eager to accomplished and have the album release. But during the process of productions few will notice any irregularities on the created piece. Most are sensitive on critic reviews because the musician usually put all their heart and souls to create the music.

To ensure good recording quality of song the musicians must have the assistance of mastering engineer. This engineer works as a quality controller to check the quality of the song produced. They usually possess expertise and independent ears suited to give professional opinion on the freshness or impression on the song created. They focus on the final rendition of the song. Afterwards they evaluate it and explain to the musician the irregularities or error in the music. Then they recommend suggestions on how to give the music or song a fresh appeal to achieve the objective of giving finest music.

Communication with mastering engineer must be open which means musician must make consultation to them. They trained to give an honest opinion and generally they do not encourage emotional aspect or effort exerted in producing the music. Outside factors or internal factors do not to interfere in their judgment because their main focus is to make the created piece a masterpiece on its own. Trust and confidence are essential factors that must be established between the musician and the mastering engineer. The feedback and the objective vision of the mastering engineer give the direction of positive success of the music. <bio>Marry Jazz is a successful author of http://www.ipods-and-mp3-players-guide.com </bio>

The word `karaoke` has a Japanese origin from the words `kara` meaning empty or void and okesutora, meaning orchestra. It is a kind of entertainment in which singers sing with music pre-recorded played on a music system. The song used is usually a popular song, but the original recorded voice is removed or the volume is reduced low enough so that it does not interfere with the current singer.

Karaoke DVDs are discs that are specially formatted to have only music of songs and their lyrics displayed when the song is played from the DVD. The earlier formats used for Karaoke were VCD and CD+G. Another format which is used for karaoke discs is laser discs.

The CD+G discs were mainly normal audio CDs but also having lyrics data written on them. The discs can be played on a general CD player but the images for lyrics are of low quality. On the other hand VCD used for karaoke can store high quality MPEG videos for lyrics display.

In the karaoke DVD format, video is supported. Hence, the songs on the DVD can be accompanied by high quality video clips which are specially made for karaoke.

The karaoke discs (karaoke DVDs) are available in two formats - multiplex and non-multiplex.

The multiplex format contains vocal demos for the songs on the DVD which gives the user an option to listen to the song with vocals also. This is present to help the user to practice and compare his/her song with the original song. The vocals can be eliminated from the song by using the vocal remove button or the multiplex function present on the player used to play the DVD.

The non-multiplex format comes without vocals and is more appropriate for experienced users.

An important thing to note is that the tracks on karaoke DVD are not made from the original songs. Rather, the music is recreated. The karaoke songs are recorded again separately and care is taken that the music sounds very similar to the track which was recorded originally. In the multiplex DVD formats, it may be possible that the original artist (singer) is not the one singing the song.

Most karaoke players use a technology that changes the pitch of the song electronically to suit the singer`s voice and at the same time maintaining the tempo of the original song.

Also, the karaoke discs come with the background singer, normally the chorus and it is not possible to remove these background singers.

A very popular form of karaoke venue is a Karaoke Box. It is a medium sized room which contains the equipments required for karaoke. This helps the singer to avail a more private and intimate atmosphere to sing for fun or practice for some performance. The room can be rented for as long as the user wants. Some karaoke bars also charge on a per song basis, typically $1 or S2 for a song.

Another option is to buy a karaoke DVD player which can be used at home. The player generally costs less than 100 dollars and the karaoke DVDs will cost around 15 dollars a piece.

A popular game known as `Karaoke Roulette` or `Kamikaze Karaoke` is played in karaoke bars. In this game, random songs are played on the karaoke player and the participants have to identify and sing along.

A large number of software applications are also available now which makes it possible to host karaoke shows on the computer. Various websites dedicated to karaoke makes it possible even for amateur singers to share and participate in a global karaoke community. <bio>This article can be accessed in Portuguese language from the Article section of page: http://www.polomercantil.com.br/karaoke.php Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for http://www.PoloMercantil.com.br </bio>

One of the most wonderful forms of self-expression parents can foster within their children is the ability to play music. Happily, it is possible to get started doing so while baby is still in the womb. Raising a musical child has many advantages --- more so than can be accurately calculated. But just for starters, children who retain music into adulthood say it helps them to be happier, more thoughtful and compassionate individuals, and the world certainly needs more of those, I'm sure you will agree.

You can start your baby off right by doing four simple things before birth.

• Sing or hum to yourself and your unborn child. It doesn't matter whether you do so loudly or quietly just as long as you do it often.

• Listen to a wide variety of recorded music. Play the radio or a CD when you are in the car and fill your home with sound. Go ahead and play the music you love best but spend some time reaching for other types of music that you don't normally listen to.

• As Professor Harold Hill said in The Music Man, "Think music." Listen for music when you are walking and listening to other people talking. You'll soon realize that there is rhythm in the way we walk, cut a loaf of bread or knock on a door and in the sing-song quality of speech.

• If you don't already know how to do so, learn to play an instrument. If you've been playing for years, make it a point to play every day. Playing music is a powerful source of prenatal communication. What better way is there to "talk" to your unborn child than with the music that you love?

Once your baby is born, you'll want to continue the four basic steps already outlined and add a few more.

• When you play music, place your baby or toddler close to the instrument. Depending on what you play you might place the child under the instrument or on it so he or she can feel the vibrations as you play.

• Dance to the music with your baby or toddler in your arms. Let the child feel the music in his body and associate listening to music with the freedom of movement.

• As soon as you are willing, enroll your toddler into a music and movement program such as Kindermusik or something similar.

You'll want to avoid a formal music instruction at all costs. It is a little-known truth that our traditional approach does more to stifle natural music abilities than to foster them. After decades in the music business I can safely say that forcing children to read music before they know how to play an instrument is insanity. It's like expecting children to read before they can talk.

Your child may be ready for music lessons when he has reached the age of five or six. At that point, you should be looking for a music instructor who allows your child to play a great deal, long before he learns to read. To find the best instructor, interview several. Select someone you connect with on a personal level. Be certain that this individual plays all sorts of music without needing sheet music and that they are willing to teach a variety of musical styles from the very beginning. A helpful question to ask during your interview is: How large a repertoire will my child be playing in ten lessons?"

Best of luck to you and your lucky baby!<bio>Neil Moore, is an Australian music-educator.
Entertainment is a vital part of any Toronto wedding ceremony. In fact, all cities in Canada have realized the importance that entertainment plays in setting a good tempo in wedding ceremonies. At such, wedding DJ's are setting up businesses in most Canadian cities to provide good nuptial music that forms the bulk of the ceremony music. It is advisable for couples or event planners organizing a Toronto wedding to discuss with the Wedding DJ what type of music will be played at both the venue and the reception.

Wedding DJs have a wide experience of playing music in Toronto wedding ceremonies and their advice is valuable. However, because the special day is primarily the couple's day to make merry, their preferences should always override those of the DJ. Couples should therefore pick their favorite songs prior to the big day. In most Toronto weddings, Couples will allow the DJ to queue the music in whichever order, as long as he plays all the selected songs. Other couples will insist that the DJ slots the music in a particular order.

More luxurious Toronto weddings will use live bands to provide the ceremony music, though more expensive than hiring a wedding DJ, the live bands engage the audience more especially at the reception. Some couples choose to mix different music genres to give each stage of the ceremony a different tone. The biggest consideration when settling for such music mix is relevance. Couples mostly go for music that will have meaning even in future especially if their ceremony is video recorded.

When choosing music for Toronto weddings, it is important to consider the people who will attend the special ceremony and the point at which the music is played. Having done this professionally, experienced wedding DJs are able to advice the couple the best suitable music to play during the procession and recession. Ideally, this should be smooth music with a slow tempo. Most Toronto DJ's prefer Jazz music for these parts. During the first dance, which is usually reserved for the marital couple, music with a faster beat can be queued. The couples should however practice the dance before hand to ensure that they are comfortable with the music.

As is custom in most Toronto weddings, the father-daughter dance is an important part of the reception party. Many people will be observing. The two should dance to music with comfortable beats, especially considering that the father to the bride may be elderly. The DJ should also know what music to play during the cake cutting ceremony and the last dance. In case couples based in Toronto cannot get a good DJ to carry out instructions, they can seek services of Mississauga DJs.

It is the responsibility of the wedding DJs to edit music for brevity. At such, they should be very careful to retain the relevant parts of the song. Toronto Wedding ceremonies especially those held in church take fixed times, the DJ should be aware of this and thus prepare his music to fit specified time slots.<bio>Wedding Ceremony Music Our professional DJ's cater to a broad spectrum of musical styles, genres and events. for more info visit: http://www.videobabylon.ca/DiscJockey-S.html Disc Jockey</bio>

How were ring tones developed? We should get curious to know the initial stage of the ring tone development, which was through RTTTL (Ring Tone Text Transfer Language) format. This is a simple text based format used to create music. It can be downloaded into your mobile via infrared or Bluetooth or even SMS.

Based on the initial stage of RTTTL, the Monophonic ring tones were developed. This is a very simple ring tones which are commonly found in older mobiles Nokia 3210 is an example. Monophonic ring tones are capable of making one sound at a time. As the name suggests, each tune was created note by note, and the sound was also developed at various frequency, thereby sounding a simple melodic tune. From the creation of Monophonic ring tone, another format of music was created called MIDI (Musical Instrumental Digital Interface).

The ring tone industry witnessed the emergence of a superior format through the introduction of polyphonic ring tones. In this type of ring tone, more than 16 separate notes can be played at the same time, thereby creating a better result than in the Monophonic ring tone. The tunes are almost similar to the real music. Most of the modern phones can play the polyphonic ring tone.

After a lot of technology advancement, Real tone finally came into the ring tone picture. Real tone or Music Tone is the actual real sound of the original music. They are not in the MIDI format, but only recorded tunes such as actual singer songs and even voice recorded sound: music which the phone can play but cannot produce as in the case of MIDI format. Mobiles which are capable of playing the real tone can also play MIDI format music but not vise versa. Other names for real tone are MP3, and true tones. The sound quality output is crisp clear as that heard from a CD. Depending on the model of the mobile, full track music albums can be downloaded into the hand-set to be used for various purposes, such as MP3 player, or using any of the MP3 music as a ring tone. Also assigning different ring tone to different identities within the address book of the hand-set is a feature which many users prefer to have.

Another step in the technology came through the creation of Video Ring tones. When a caller receives an incoming call, a small video clip along with a MP3 file is played. Even though this form of ring tone has been developed, it never became so popular and in demand amongst the people. It could be a new source of marketing for the mobile ring tone websites.

Now we have another truly amazing development through a ring tone called Name tone. As the name implies, it's a real tone but having your name in it. For example, when there is an incoming call, one can hear their own names in the ring tone "Jane you have a call, please pick it up", " Jane you have a message, please answer it". This all depends on the model of the mobile brand. It allows the owner to input his/her name and choose the type of ringtone music you would like to hear your name been called. It supports the real tone format only. Name tones are the latest in fashion, cool and fun to have in your hand-set. <bio>To find out more and download free ringtones please visit http://www.free-ringtones-tonight.com and http://www.milesringtones.com </bio>

When I first started studying the history of music, I did not know what I was getting into. I had a notion that music history was somewhat of a trivial pursuit...

Honestly, I only followed my history of classical music course because I needed the credits. I am sure some of you out there can relate to that. I did not know how fully interesting music history could be. You see, in our culture many of us do not really study to comprehend music. For much of the world, music is a language, but for us it is a thing that we consumed passively.

When I started to study about the history of Western music, however, it changed all that for me. I have had some experience using musical instruments, but I have never mastered one enough to really comprehend what music is all about. This class showed me.

When a lot of us think about the history of music, it means the history of rock music. We presume that the history is plain because the music is plain. In fact, neither is the case. The history of music, whether you're talking about classical music, rock music, jazz music, or any other kind, is always complex. New chord structures are set up carrying with them new forms of understanding humanity. New rhythmic patterns are established, carrying with them new methods of understanding history. And music shows all of it.

History of music nowadays is even more interesting. Even when the class was ended, I could not stop learning about the history of music. It had stimulated my appetite, and I wanted more. I acquired all the music history volumes that I could discover. I even started to examine forms of music that had not interested me before in the hopes of improving my musical knowledge further. When I was in school studying toward a very different subject - a degree in engineering - I had thought about giving it up and going back to obtain a degree in musicology. That is how much I am fascinated by the subject.

If you have never taken a course in the history of music, you don't know what you are missing out on. You do not miss what you don't know about in a way but then again... Believe me the CDs will never sound the same to you again. Actually not only the Cds but any type of media you are or will be using to play your favorite music. The whole thing will seem much more rich, much more luminous, and much more important.
Officially, MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, and it was invented in 1982. These days, it refers to three components:

1. A physical connector =96 between electronic instruments and between electronic instruments and a MIDI controller, usually a keyboard. The connector takes the form of MIDI IN and MIDI OUT jacks form which MIDI cables can bet plugged into any electronic instruments (and you'd be surprised at how much music hardware out there today is MIDI-capable =96 almost every detachable keyboard is!)

2. A message format =96 this message format is the heart of MIDI. This format is made up not of the sounds themselves, but simply the commands that are issued by the MIDI keyboard to the electronic instruments telling them how to play a given song ("play the violin" "turn down the volume to XX", "adjust the pitch to YY", etc.)

With the above two components, a musician was able to control a string of musical instruments from a single keyboard, giving him a "one-man band" effect.

3. A storage format =96 in other words, MIDI files. This latecomer of the MIDI trinity was what really did the trick because it allowed musicians to record their creations and tweak them on many different parameters until they got it sounding just they way they wanted it. Without this, MIDI songs could not be played back, because since MIDI commands include only the instructions to the instrument on how to play the song and not the actual music itself, they cannot be recorded in audio format. Now MIDI files can be recorded, emailed, or even downloaded from the Internet.

A MIDI studio can now be produced in two ways =96 via hardware or software. The hardware version involves connecting a keyboard (using MIDI cables) to the MIDI jack of an electronic instrument and then stringing together up to 16 of these instruments in a "daisy chain" by way of their MIDI IN and MIDI OUT jacks. The software version keeps the MIDI keyboard (or other MIDI controller such as a MIDI guitar, etc.), while the instruments appear in virtual form on a computer screen (various software programs such as Reason, Logic, and Cubase can do this). <bio>"MIDI Music Guide" at http://midisoftwareguide.blogspot.com offers readers comprehensive information about MIDI based home recording software.
Recording audio started towards the end of the 19th century with Thomas Edison's phonograph. This was a machine (that consisted of a tinfoil cylinder and a speaker that resembled the megaphone) that he invented and used to make a recording of Mary Had a Little Lamb, the first song recorded.

This moment was crucial in the history of recorded sound. Wax, metal and other materials are shaped into cylinders and disks were used for at least 50 years. In 1929 the vinyl records were made and dominated the scene for the next forty years. Amazingly enough magnetic tape was developed at the same time but it only gained popularity in the 1960s.

In 1985, the Compact Disc was developed by Sony and Philips and instantly became a huge success and, 13 years later, the portable MP3 player then made its debut. It was a breakthrough that would change everything; we can now store and listen to a massive amount of music, not just a few songs that use up all the memory of the player.

So, in order to be able to store much, we must get the file compressed. This is where the codec software enters the stage; it can convert analogue music to a smaller digital file which is then stored in the memory of the MP3 (the air pressure waves that we hear as sounds bear the name of 'analogue audio' when they are recorded).

MP3 files can be constructed at higher or lower bit rates, with higher or lower resulting quality. A mid-range bit rate setting of 128 Kbit/s results in a file of about 1/10th the size of the file created from the original source.

When we listen to our music, the software that has been embedded in the player reads the file which then decompresses it, converts it to analogue, amplifies the signal and transfers it to the headphones. This, in a nutshell, is how it works. As for the hardware, there is a laser device that reads the CD's, just as the stylus works for the records and a magnetic head for cassette tapes.

The idea no longer looks puzzling now that several types of MP3 players have been created and the future of the system is likely to store even more revolutionary devices of the kind. We will certainly see an increase in a wide range of products but, for the time being, there are only three types of MP3 players available.

The smallest, cheapest and probably the most reliable of all are the Flash Players. Their batteries are long lasting due to the fact that they have no moving parts. The capacity of these players has already reached 4GB and will surely increase in the near future. The newest models are about the size of a credit card.

Hard Drive Players can have a memory of 80GB so they can hold thousands of tunes, photos and videos. All this on a device that is about the size of a deck of cards.

Last but not least, the latest generation of portable CD-players, the CD MP3 players, employ MP3, ATRAC and WMA formats; some of them can even burn CDs, and will hold 10 to 45 hours of music per disc. There are also Minidisk models, a little more expensive than the standard ones<bio>Find discount MP3 Players online now.
There's nothing like a music box; those haunting melodies that can instantly take us back in time. The song of a music box sounds like history; maybe because they have always been a fixture in homes throughout the centuries. Perhaps that is why the antique music box seems so fitting. It is though the music box has been restored to its original form; and in taking its place in our homes, tells the story of a life steeped in history.

The first music box was made by Swiss watchmaker, Antoine Favre in 1796, and acted as a rudimentary record player of sorts, allowing owners to enjoy and entertain with music in their homes. Music boxes continue to evolve under the guidance of their native country. Even as other regions began to design their own music boxes, the Swiss still enjoyed the credit for this miraculous invention. Even today, many an antique music box is referred to simply as a Swiss music box.

Depending on the time period in which the antique music box was made, you will surely enjoy a variety of period music. In this way, the antique music box acts as a time capsule of sorts, capturing the specific nuances - both in design and melody - of that very particular time in history.

While it can be a valuable and treasured item, the antique music box does not come without its challenges - mainly in the area of repair. Repairing an antique music box - because of its intricate and long outdated parts - can be difficult. It's important to find a reputable and skilled professional to repair or service your antique music box. You may look to those stores that sell contemporary music boxes; many times the owners and operators of these stores are music box enthusiasts and have knowledge of the complexities of the antique music box.

Keeping your antique music box in proper working condition will allow you to enjoy it for a lifetime and even pass it down to future generations who can then have the opportunity to hold history in their hand. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about music box visit our ezGuide 2 http://musicbox.ezguide2.com </bio>

Know more about pop music

The following article presents the very latest information on pop music. Some music professionals say that pop music can be played of sung or even can be mixed with all kind of music, which is really true in my personal perspective. No matter which kind of music such as rock, hip hop, reggae, dance, RandB, jazz, electronic, and sometimes folk music and various other styles, these kind of music usually been create in pop sound and rhythms. The most distinct characteristics of pop music is probably that it has very simple pattern of melody as well as using not many musical instruments to play. Apart from that, if pop music is composed together with lyrics, it should matched to all types of lyrics to represent the feeling as emotion of the compose, and this is the reason that make it become popular very quickly. Apart from that, pop music can respond to all kind of music need from everyone who want any style of music, just unlike any other kind of music that has very limited group of people favorite. For example, for Jazz music, it can be said that there are millions of fans who love Jazz music, but I could say that they are still ten up to twenty per cent of pop music fans throughout the world. This is because Jazz or any other kind of specific type of music such as rock, hip hop, rap etc. that they have limitations in terms of developing characteristics to includes all style of lyrics.

So far, we've uncovered some interesting facts about pop music. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting. Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. Music adds a special touch to any wedding ceremony and you will want to make sure that you pick out great music and have it performed by great performers as well. When you are choosing and organizing music for your wedding, you will want to choose your songs first, and then you can work on finding the musicians and DJs to perform or play the music that you have selected for your wedding.

Music Selection

Before you start worrying about musicians and DJs, you will need to decide on the songs and styles of music that you want to be in your wedding. You should consider both wedding selections for your ceremony and for your wedding reception. When choosing music for your ceremony, you will want to consider what type of wedding ceremony you are having. If you have decided to have a traditional church wedding, you may want to keep your music more conservative and in line with a formal religious wedding. On the other hand, if you are having a wedding that is not held in a religious type of setting, you will be more free to choose music that is not as conservative. Perhaps you and your fiance have a special song that is "your song." If so, you may want to include that song in your wedding. If you feel that the song is a bit too wild or contemporary for your wedding ceremony, then consider having it played or sung at the wedding reception, or you may even want to have it as the song for your very first dance.
