One of the first hings you do with a new puppy is get your new puppy potty trained. Thankfully, potty training your puppy doesn't have to be that hard. This article will show you some tips on potty training your puppy.

First, you need to understand that puppies are like babies and they simply make mistakes because they don't know better and can't understand their urges. Your puppy doesn't mean to ruin your good carpet; he simply doesn't know that he has to go potty.

A puppy's ability to feel the urge to go potty develops as they age, much like children. You can help your puppy potty train faster by developing a schedule for your puppy to follow. Take the puppy out to go potty at the same times every day to allow the puppy to become accustomed to a schedule.

Especially if you are not always home during the day, you can expect there to be accidents while you puppy is potty training.

You can help minimize the mess by putting down newspapers for the puppy to relieve himself on, but it will take additional training for the puppy to know this is for emergencies. When accidents happen, don't get angry - just clean up and disinfect the area.

You can learn to notice some of the signs that your puppy needs to be taken out for a potty trip. When you see your puppy acting up in a certain way, it may be time to take them out to relieve themselves.

Here are some signs that a puppy needs to go potty:

* Showing Restlessness * Sniffing at a spot they had previously soiled * Puppy is Whimpering and wining * Puppy is distracted from play

As each puppy is different, you will soon learn to recognize the signs in your dog. When your puppy starts to show this potty signal it is time to take them out for a walk and direct them to go in the place you want them to use.

When your puppy does good, remember to praise him. Praise displays to the puppy that they have done the right thing and will make them happy to do it again to seek more praise.

Although potty training your puppy can be dificult, it is just a matter of being consistent and patient with your new puppy long enough for their minds and bladders to mature and train. With patience and time, your puppy will potty train and accidents will be a problem of the past. <bio>For more information on potty training your puppy or other puppy care and training tips, visit: http://www.freedogtrainingtips.net/Puppy_Potty_Training.html http://www.freedogtrainingtips.net </bio>

Did you just buy a new puppy? Are you thinking about doing so sometime in the near future? If so, you will also want to become familiar with puppy training. The fact of the matter is that if you do not train your puppy you may end up with a problem on your hands. Luckily, with a bit of puppy training you can get past all of this and be well on your way to living a happy life with your new pooch.

Most people who do not look into puppy training fail to do so because they are not aware of what it entails. Although each obedience school has a different way of doing things, most of them touch on the same basics. For instance, your puppy will learn the basic commands. This includes sit, stay, lie down, heel, and come among others. When you teach these commands to your puppy at an early age they will remember them for the rest of their life.

Additionally, training will help to get your puppy used to being around other people as well as other dogs. And as you can imagine, this is quite important. When your puppy is trained to socialize with anybody that they are around, you will have a much easier time keeping it under control.

As you can see, puppy training is well worth the time and money. Many people do not move forward with the puppy training process and end up regretting it in the end. Remember, when you train your dog at an early age you have a much better chance of getting through to it.

So before your puppy gets too old, find a training class in your area. For a minimal amount of money you can teach your puppy the basics of behaving and socializing before they are too old. <bio>Ruth is actively involved with the internet and she finds it very exciting.
Have you ever passed by a pet store only to turn around and walk back to stare at the antics of an adorable bundle of fluff. When this happens you may find yourself in the pet store looking into the idea of how to adopt a puppy. Once you have finished with the various procedures that are necessary for the adoption of your new pet you are ready to go home with this little bundle of fluff.

Now if you are prepared for the realities of having a puppy then adopting a puppy will not cause much havoc in your lifestyle. On the other hand you may have thought to adopt a puppy as a spur of the moment decision. The result of an action like this is that both you and your new puppy are in somewhat of a mess.

The best way to avoid falling into a mess like this is to think carefully about the various facts that are present when you adopt a puppy. You can ask your various friends about matters like good puppy food, a place for your puppy to sleep, training your puppy not to make a mess in your home and what should you do if the puppy does have an accident indoors.

Once you have found the answer to the matter of your pet's health and well being you will need to see which type of puppy you want to adopt. It is best if you see what kind of puppy you want before you go to adopt a puppy. There are many adorable puppies that you will see. You have the pure bred puppies like golden retrievers, Labradors, English Collies, great Danes, Dalmatians and many others.

Having looked at the many puppies you should remember that while you want to adopt a puppy eventually this puppy will grow into a full size dog. Therefore you must be prepared for the necessary care of your puppy with the knowledge that most its behavior patterns will be set once your pet has become a full size dog.

These facts and the other requirements that are needed for the health and happiness of a puppy will need to be considered. Therefore when you desire to have a puppy in your life and home these factors will need to be found out and kept ready for all of the mischievous antics that your new puppy will engage in.

Even though you can easily adopt a puppy you should remember that one day this little puppy will become a dog. So you should adopt a puppy only if you are prepared to have the adult dog as a life long companion. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

There is nothing more fun than bringing home a new puppy -- for everyone except the person who has to clean up after it! While there is no fool-proof method for house training a puppy, crate training has proven quite successful. Crate training effectively teaches the puppy to andquot;hold itandquot; until given the opportunity to relieve himself somewhere more suitable. However, this is not an excuse to crate your new puppy for long periods of time.

This method of house training a puppy is based on the premise that a puppy would rather not mess up its living area if it doesn't have to. Puppies should NOT be left in a crate for too long. If your puppy goes to the bathroom in the crate because it could no longer andquot;hold it,andquot; the training process will be drastically compromised.

How does one handle house training a puppy in this manner?

If no one is in your home during the day, you should put the puppy in a bathroom or another small, uncarpeted area in your home that can be blocked off. House training a puppy should only take place when you are at home. When you arrive home, take your pup out on a leash. After you play with it for a while put it in the crate. Wait an hour or so and then take it out again. If it relieves himself, shower it with praise. If it doesn't, put it back in the crate and try again about 45 minutes later. This process should be repeated until the puppy is successful.

After it goes to the bathroom it should be allowed to play free in the house. Some people find it helpful to keep a diary of the times their puppy eliminates. While this seems bizarre, it helps you to determine your puppy's habits, thus enabling you to decrease the time it has to spend in the crate.

The most important thing to remember with house training a puppy is to be consistent and offer it an enormous amount of praise. The process may take a while and it is important to understand that if the puppy has an accident during the training, it is okay. You should just increase the frequency of trips outside. If the puppy has an accident after its training has stopped, don't punish it, just revert back to the training process temporarily and you will be back on track in no time. <bio>Dorothy Brown writes for several web sites, including http://mowek.com and http://foraw.com </bio>

While many of us have heard of large dogs needing to be rescued we may not realize that this fact holds true for puppies as well. The different breeds of puppies may look adorable to us when we first see them but some owners abandon these little cuties once the novelty of having a pet wears off. This is where puppy rescue steps in.

Here the various breeds of puppies are found from the various places that they have been left in. These places can be large cardboard boxes, garbage bags, puppies left on the sides of the roads, in puppy mills and other types of places. Once the puppy rescue centers are informed about the different types of puppies who need a place to stay, they move into action.

The puppy is found and carefully brought into the rescue center. At the rescue center while the puppy's trust is being gained the center's vet will examine the puppy. All of the wounds that are found on the puppies will be treated and any parasites that are on the puppies' body or inside of the puppy will be destroyed with the medication that is given by the vet.

Once this medical examination has been completed the puppy rescue team will see that the puppy is carefully washed and cleaned so that the puppy is not frightened or hurt. When the grooming process is finished the puppy will be placed in a cozy kennel. This is where the puppy will live until the puppy rescue centers find good families to place these puppies with.

Before the puppy rescue will allow potential owners to take their pets' home these owners will need to fill out forms stating that they are willing to give these puppies a loving home and the care that is required. To make sure that there is no problems for the puppies or their potential owners the puppy rescue will have a trial period where the puppy is taken home by the adoptee parent.

Once the adoption is considered to be a success, the adoption papers are filled out and the puppy is taken to its new home. With a family who is willing to care for these puppies the puppy rescue can be sure that this puppy will have a good life.

Puppy rescue centers have been developed to make sure that puppies have a safe and loving environment. The work that puppy rescue teams perform saves many puppies from being euthanized. The next time that you are looking to adopt a puppy you should see the different puppies that are available from your local puppy rescue facility. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

Few things can make one's heart melt like a new puppy, and few breeds of puppies have the enduring charm and warmth like a Labrador puppy. It should come as no surprise that the Labrador puppy is the most popular breed of dog in the United States and United Kingdom. The Labrador puppy is more than cute though, they are also good natured, energetic, and one of the fastest learning breeds. However, despite all of their positive attributes, prospective Labrador puppy owners need to know that it takes some work and research to help them select the Labrador puppy that is best suited for them.

The first thing to remember when considering a Labrador puppy is that it is a pure bred dog, therefore it is incumbent on the potential owner to find a competent, responsible, and knowledgeable breeder. A good breeder of Labrador puppies will conduct health tests on the male and female adult Labradors before breeding. This will help ensure that your puppy is healthy and free of disease. Competent Labrador puppy breeders also consider genetics when breeding dogs, and they will only breed dogs that have excellent temperaments. Good breeding will help give you a Labrador puppy that possesses all the great traits that they are known for.

When it comes time to select a puppy from a litter, be careful and cautious in order to avoid the pitfalls that trap many Labrador puppy owners. It seems natural for someone to see the puppy that approaches them first, or the one that seems the most affectionate and friendly, to be the "pick of the litter." However, this selection technique can often lead owners astray, and when they select a Labrador puppy with those traits they are often selecting the most forceful and domineering puppy in the litter. Remember that the calmer and gentler Labrador puppy that approaches you cautiously, or watches you from the background, is often the puppy that is most likely to be an obedient, enjoyable pet.

It is equally important to look for the Labrador puppy that seems very shy or even scared. While one should steer clear of the most outgoing and aggressive Labrador puppies, they should be equally concerned with Labrador puppies that are timid, nervous, or shy. The shy Labrador puppy often grows up to be a shy, scared dog that is quick to bark or snap at anything that scares it.

Once you have eliminated the most bold, and the most bashful, your best bet is to focus your attention on the Labrador puppy that possesses traits that are more "in the middle." A well suited Labrador puppy should be curious, friendly, and cautiously interested in you and what you are doing. Move the puppy away from his littermates and see how he reacts to you. Once you find that puppy that acts well in a crowd, or alone, likes to wag his tail, and likes to be in your company, you may have found that special Labrador puppy that will become part of your family. <bio>For easy to understand, in depth information about labrador puppy visit our ezGuide 2 http://labradors.ezguide2.com </bio>

Do you have a new puppy in your home that needs to be house trained? House training may be a daunting task, and like potty training 2-year-olds, it does take time and effort to be successful. However, the more dedicated you are to effectively house training your puppy, the sooner you will get positive working results. Here are a few tips to successfully and thoroughly house train your new puppy.

First, there are a few things to be mindful of before you embark on this training traverse. First, if you don't see your dog doing the deed on your floor, don't punish them for it. If you tell them "no" and show them their mess, they most likely won't understand why you're displeased with them. Second, be sure to praise them profusely (and maybe even give them a treat) when they do things right. This encourages your puppy to do things for incentives, and not out of confused fear.

Many people prefer to begin their puppy "potty" training inside the home. A good way to start is by laying down old newspaper on the floor, and placing a disposable puppy pad on top. These pads are filled with chemicals that encourage your puppy to relieve himself on the pad. To start, once you spot your puppy doing their pre-piddling routine (i.e. sniffing the ground and walking around like they are searching for something), simply pick them up and place them on the pad, remembering to praise them when they are done.

Once your puppy has consistently begun to use the puppy pads, you will want to place a puppy pad outdoors as well as indoors. This way, the puppy will recognize the pad outside and use it as a bathroom as well as the pads indoors. Once your puppy becomes familiar with relieving himself or herself indoors and outdoors, begin moving your indoor puppy pad closer and closer to the front or back door of your home. Once you get to the door, go ahead and do away with the indoor puppy pad. This way, your puppy will have gotten used to going to the door when he or she needs to relieve themselves. Be sure to notice when your puppy goes to the door, otherwise this could make your puppy confused. Once your dog starts heading in the proper direction, open the door and usher them to the outdoor puppy pad.

Finally, once your dog has become accustomed to going to the door when he or she needs relief and wants to go outside, take the final outdoor puppy pad away. Now your dog has been successfully trained to head toward the door and outside when they need to do their business.

One final thing to remember, however, is that your puppy will have accidents every once in a while. Be sure to not punish them unless you catch them in the act, because they will not understand your frustration because they simply don't remember doing it. Also, praise when your puppy initiates going outside is always helpful. Dogs understand when they do something right. Good luck puppy house training! <bio> http://www.discount-pet-mall.com/pet-supplies/dog-beds/ http://www.discount-pet-mall.com/pet-supplies/elevated-dog-feeders/ </bio>

Getting a puppy is a wonderful decision for just about everyone. However getting a puppy also means that you will soon be taking on the task of having to potty train it. While potty training a puppy can seem like a rather rotten chore to take on. It really does not have to be as difficult as it often seems.

One of the most popular methods of house breaking a puppy is the crate training method. Like most all animals dogs will most like avoid soiling their homes or "dens". By giving them a dog crate to stay in when it is not possible to supervise them you are creating an artificial den for them. As this particular instinct is very strong in most all dogs, crate training is a hugely successful method to utilize when you are going to be potty training your puppy. Keep in mind that a puppy needs to be taken outside several times a day to be able to defecate and urinate for crate training to be truly effective.

If you catch your puppy trying to eliminate anywhere in your home you need to make a loud noise that will be enough to get their attention and make them stop what they are doing. Take them outside immediately and give them plenty of praise anytime that they successfully use the bathroom outside.

Generally puppies can control their bowels one hour for how old they are currently. For example if your puppy is six months old it should be able to hold its bowel movements for at least six hours before needing to eliminate. You should take your dog to the vet immediately if they cannot manage to hold their bowel movements for proper periods of time. For instance say your dog has reached one year of age and is only able to control its bowel movements for about an hour then it's likely that your dog is having some type of medical problem.

Please remember that potty training your puppy can often be a long process. Try very hard to become discouraged should your puppy not take to your potty training methods right away. Negative training methods such as yelling at your puppy are rarely an effective manner in which to potty train your puppy. Positive reinforcements such as plenty of praise and petting when your puppy is doing well with it's potty training is the best way to have a successfully house trained puppy. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for DogTeachers - a site dedicated to helping you train you dog.
Most people who own a puppy know how troublesome the biting stage is. Most puppies face the stage where they bite everything, and everyone. Your puppy has to be taught not to bite, or else it may become a danger, to itself, to you, and to everyone else around you. Biting gets to be less of a problem when the dog is at a older age but to stop it at a young age, you have to take the right steps. Just like babies, puppies go through a teething stage as well.

Most puppies will learn to their biting reflexes from their mothers and from their siblings. When your puppy gets overenthusiastic, whether it is during nursing or playing, the mother dog, or any of the other puppies, will be fast to find a way to solve it.

Disappointingly, this does not always naturally occur for puppies. This is partially because many puppies are taken away from their mothers while they are still young. Due to this, it makes the new dog owner have to do something about it.

Letting your dog spend time with other dogs is one of the better ways and more effective ways to teach your puppy the appropriate behavior. One way of letting your puppy socialize with other pups is to take him or her to a puppy kindergarten class if you are financially able or you could always let your puppy play with a friends dog as well.

The reason why putting your puppy with other pups is a great way to solve the biting problems is that the other dogs will correct the issue right away if it happens. Keep in mind that puppies will bite one and another while playing but it is only when it becomes too rough that the other dog will take action. Many experts recommend that you let your puppy socialize with other dogs before the age of 12 weeks (3 months).

Besides introducing your puppy to other pets, you should also introduce your puppy to a wide range of different people too. This includes young children, seniors, men, women, and people of various ethnic backgrounds. This will help your dog be a people-person and should tend to be less aggressive to other people.

Socializing your puppy with other people and animals is not the only way to prevent any unwanted aggression from your pup though. Give your puppy toys that he can play with so he can control his biting. Provide chew toys, ropes, and other toys that your puppy can chew on because this allows him or her to take out any anger or just bite on something else. As well, keep his teeth polished and do not let him chew on things that he shouldn't, even if it means punishing him.

Make sure that no one in your family or that visits your household encourages your puppy to bite because training your puppy not to bite is a consistent process. Even if only one person lets him or her chew on something that everyone else does not, this will send the puppy mixed singles and he or she will think that it is something that is okay to do or at least when the people who are against it are not around. However you plan on helping your puppy stop the biting habits, you have to remember that it takes patience. You can either go about this by socializing your pet with other puppies or by making sure chew toys and that such are available but whatever method you use, be patient!

Best of luck while teaching your puppy not to bite! <bio>http://www.dogtrainingtip.co.uk provides free dog training tips </bio>

If you want a puppy adopt one of the many abandoned puppies that can be found in pounds or animal shelters. For the most part you should be able to get the puppy of your dreams and if not you can always be sure that you'll find one or two beckoning puppy brown eyes calling to you.

The problem with this is that you might end up with a Saint Bernard where you wanted a smaller sized, more manageable dog. Or you might end up with a Bassett Hound where you wanted a Retriever.

This is where you need to make sure that when you're looking at those big puppy brown eyes that you don't forget to look at the rest of it too. That's why, even if you want to adopt a puppy adopt options and details should be looked at carefully beforehand. This way you know what you're getting yourself into.

Determine as far as possible what breed of dog the puppy is and always be sure that there are no underlying health issues which could pose problems for you in the future. Ask the staff at the shelter or the pound whether any necessary injections or medical work is up to date and what else you need to do.

Don't just fall for a pair of big brown eyes. Make sure that you're going to be fully equipped to handle everything that goes along with having a puppy adopt details and medical work aren't the only things you need to look at.

You also need to make sure that you're going to be able to look after it, and that it will have adequate room to run around in. You'll also have to make sure that it gets the proper foods, enough exercise, and you should also be willing to foot any veterinary bills that are bound to come your way.

Another thing that you should also remember when you're looking at getting a puppy adopt details and medical bills aside, is that dogs and puppies especially are very loving creatures.

They need a lot of nurturing to keep them happy and contented. If you need to be constantly away from your home and have to leave your puppy alone for long stretches of time, you might want to think twice about looking at getting a puppy.

Remember, adopting a puppy is one thing. Looking after it and caring for it through its lifetime is another. There's a lot more at stake here than just going out and getting a puppy, there's also the fact that you will be responsible for the puppy and care for its emotional, physical and mental health. So if you want a puppy adopt one by all means, but also be prepared to make a life long commitment to it. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

Adopting a new puppy can be one of the most exciting things that can happen to a person or a family, but that cute little fur ball can also cause a lot of stress, especially in the first few days of coming to his new home. If you have just adopted a puppy, there are a few things you need to keep in mind to make sure that this new addition to your family grows up healthy and happy. Below are 6 things you should do for your newly-arrived puppy:

1. Give your new puppy plenty of love and attention, particularly when he does something "right." Start communicating with your puppy the moment you bring him home. Don't wait for your puppy to make a mistake or do something wrong before starting communicating with him. If you start communicating with your puppy this way, you are essentially training your puppy that you are nice some times and not nice at other times.

2. Puppies love to chew so give your puppy lots of chew toys. You can make chew toys for your puppy or you can buy a few from your local pet shop. This way your puppy learns early one to chew on his toys instead of your shoes!

3. Have comfortable, warm bed for your puppy. If you intend for your puppy to live outside the house, make sure to provide him with weatherproof doghouse. The doghouse should be spacious too. If you decide to let your puppy sleep inside the house, you can use a rectangular wooden box for his bed. You can also check out crates and kennels sold at local pet stores..

4. Keep an eye on your puppy when small children are present. Puppies are practically no match for rambunctious small kids. Puppies can easily get injured and even killed when they are left alone with small children. Small kids generally don't realize that puppies are very fragile animals and that they should be handle with extra care and gentleness.

5. Start your puppy on a regular feeding schedule the first day it arrives in your home. If your puppy is six months old or less, provide him 3 to 4 solid meals each day. During each feeding, give your new puppy all the food he can consume within 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take away any leftovers. It is very important that you provide your puppy plenty of fresh drinking water in between meals.

6. Start training your puppy to go on regular bathroom breaks. Take your puppy to the same bathroom spot at the same times every day, if at all possible. It is recommended that you take your puppy on bathroom breaks after every meal and two to three hours in between his meals, and after he has taken a nap. At night, take your new puppy on late-night bathroom trips. This will train your puppy early on to go to his bathroom spot if he needs to urinate in the middle of night instead of doing it right in his crate. <bio>Increase the happy years of your dog by checking out my free e-book.
Training puppies too early can be difficult. But, if you do not train him early, he will very quickly have the run of the house.

Training puppies is necessary because it saves you trouble later. Most dog owners skip this because we all know that dog training takes some effort. If you could teach a puppy in a month, you would be happy. But training a dog well is a longer task. Just because your dog looks cute as a puppy do not let this deter you from training him early.

In training puppies, there are some do's and don'ts.

Do

Provide the puppy with consistent access to the toilet area. If you are training your puppy at home take him to his toilet area every 45 minutes or so. If you are not at home make sure you help your puppy make as few 'mistakes' as possible, by giving him a puppy friendly environment.

Every time your puppy does something 'good', give him a reward. If he eliminates his waste in the toilet area, praise him and give him a treat. He will then recognize that his actions were right and aim for more because of the reward he will get. Make sure your rewards immediately follow the good action.

Feed your puppy just like you feed yourself. If you eat regularly, set aside food for him. It is important to train your puppy the right time to eat. This will prevent him from begging for food from your plates.

Be patient in training your puppies. Relapses will take place, but patience and perseverance are key. Remember your dog wants nothing more than to please you. After he is fully trained and it will be worth the while.

Don't

Shout at your puppy when he makes mistakes. Especially when dogs are young as this can cause frights that can stay with the dog as it gets older.

When house training your dog, don't leave water and food out all the time. If he drinks a lot, he will urinate more frequently. You will have to allow for more mistakes to be made.

Always watch the actions of your puppy and reinforce the good behavior many times throughout the day. It is not proper to let him run around as if he owns the house. If he does so, he will carry that attitude until he grows up.

Remembering some of these simple tips can make your puppy a better trained dog and a more enjoyable pet. <bio>Simon Oliver has an interest in Recreational Activities and Hobbies.
Raising a puppy is very tough. You need to have the determination to deal with problems when things don't go your way. That can be a tough thing to do when you are dealing with this very situation for the first time in your life. When raising a puppy you need to already have thought out what you want to teach him or her and how you want to raise them. It's a tough thing to do especially if you have never done it before but when you think about it, it's actually quite simple and logical. It is actually pretty easy to associate a puppy to one of your children either present or future. When you have kids this same process more than likely occurs to you. You want the best for them and you want to be able to teach them everything you know. I'm sure the same applies for puppies. In this article we are going to explore just that, giving your new puppy the right tools and know-how to lead a great adult life.

When you first bring home a puppy it can be a little confusing as to what you should do first. There are many people that think that you need to be prepared even before you bring him home. You can't take anything for granted with your new puppy because you never know just what to expect from them as they are all very different and unpredictable. It is generally accepted that you should be prepared way before you even bring a new puppy home. There are many things that a new puppy can do that can be very dangerous for him. For example, anything that is small and loose will more than likely look very interesting to him. He will probably want to taste it and eat it which can cause a lot of problems for you. Many people run into this problem because it is almost impossible to prevent him from eating everything. He has all day to search out new and interesting things and you can't always be there with him.

It's a good idea to take some time everyday and clean up either with a vacuum or if you have hardwood floors, a broom in order to try and sweep up as much of that loose clutter as you can. Don't feel bad if you miss something because that is simply inevitable but do be diligent because that's the only way to prevent any mishaps. Another thing to do before bring the puppy home is to puppy proof areas where you don't want him having access. That can mean putting barriers in his way such as in front of stairs or certain doorways to prevent him from going into areas where he can get hurt. This step is mandatory for all puppy owners because it will go a long way to safeguard your new cute and cuddly little puppy. Safety is the name of the game and you must work extra hard in order to safeguard his.<bio>This author lives in Flemington, NJ with her husband and 5 month old daughter and is an expert contributing author for a luxury dog feeders boutique offering variety of dog beds and personalized dog beds.</bio>

Dogs are some of the most popular choices for pets all across the world. Puppies are so much fun to watch as they are learning new things and adult dogs are an excellent choice for those that lead busy lives and may not have the appropriate time available to devote to taking proper care of a puppy. Now when trying to decide on whether to get a puppy or an adult dog there is a debate as to which one would be easier to train.

There are many people that are under then assumption that a young puppy cannot be trained. This is not true at all as a young puppy can actually be quite easily trained if the training it is receiving is done properly. Purchasing things that your puppy is going to need such as food and water dishes, a collar and leash and a dog crate is the first step in the right direction for being able to properly train your puppy. In addition before you begin training your puppy you and your family all need to agree on the puppy's routine as all dogs no matter what their age need this in order for training to be successful.

Puppies are very eager to learn and it is best that training involve nothing but positive reinforcements. You never want to hit a puppy of yell at them in a truly harsh tone of voice. The damage either act can do can be very hard to repair. You should reward your puppy with things like puppy treats and praises when they are doing something right. Getting your puppy out for socialization is also integral in being successful in training your puppy.

Training an adult dog can be another adventure all together. The statement "You can' t teach and old dog new tricks" can often have a thread of truth in this situation. There is no need to be discouraged though. As many older dogs have already had some degree of training with their old owner it can be hard to train them to get them to learn the rules of your home. That is not to say that it is an impossible task to accomplish. In some ways training an adult dog can be easier then a puppy just because it already has some basic knowledge of things like being housebroken so really all you would need to work on is changing some behavioral patterns. As with puppies offering plenty of positive reinforcements will be the easiest way to train a dog as all dogs crave positive attention.

There are positives and negatives about training both puppies as well as adult dogs. You really need to pay attention to your lifestyle and how much time you have available to devote to the training of a dog and that will give you the best idea of what will be easier for you. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for DogTeachers.
Everyone loves puppies mainly because they are almost always extremely cute when they are young. Many people decide to get one simply on this fact alone and don't really think about what the future holds for both you and this puppy. Not too many people think about what it actually takes to raise a puppy the right way and in doing so because a lot of hardship for themselves as well as the dog. This can be simply attributed to the rising animal homelessness. It is a bit of a sad note but if you are reading this article, then you are one of the many people who care to raise their new puppy the right way and want to invest time in order to have a healthy future with their dog for years to come.

There are many people that ask how should they start with their puppy? What is it that I need to do in order to raise a puppy? The answer is actually very simple and is something that most people can apply to a situation that occurs in their lives, having children. Raising children and raising a puppy are not that different from one another. They both require a lot of attention and a lot of dedication to get them to be what you want them to be and act they way there are supposed to act. I know it's a tough thing to do but it is quite easy if you devote sometime to it every day in order to strengthen that relationship. It might seem a bit silly to say this but the best way to raise a puppy is to provide something that everyone yearns for and needs in their lives and that something is love and support. To show your new puppy that you love him reward him when he does something good or does something that you taught him. Show him that his efforts for doing whatever it is that he did didn't go unnoticed and that you care about what he did. This sort of reinforcement is key when you want to teach your new puppy more complicated things further on down the line. He will know that anything that you try to teach him is something that is worth learning because it will garner your love and respect especially when some sort of treat is involved. Showing your puppy support is easy and it shows when you try to teach him something new after you successfully reward him for whatever he did earlier. It's a process that goes a long way in reinforcing your relationship with him and shows him that you are his leader and that he knows his place with you.

Raising a puppy is very hard to do and it isn't something that should be entered into lightly because it requires a lot of attention and a lot of dedication. When raising a puppy make sure that you are thinking about the long run and his future.<bio>This author lives in Flemington, NJ with her husband and 5 month old daughter and is an expert contributing author for a luxury dog feeders boutique offering variety of dog beds and personalized dog beds.</bio>

Everyone agrees that training a puppy is imperative for him to learn how to behave and to teach him his boundaries, but there are some basic tips you need to know before starting your dog training. Magazines, books and online articles addressing the basics of acquiring a new puppy abound. They may all sound repetitive, and a lot of the tips and advice are actually simple and requires common sense, but they are vital nonetheless.

When you bring home a new puppy, keep in mind these 6 things you should avoid doing:

1. Never hit your puppy, whether with your hand or with a rolled up newspaper or any other object, regardless of what he does. Keep in mind that your puppy is like a baby -- it is very delicate and is easily injured. Hitting your puppy will only frighten him and be a traumatic experience for him that can possibly lead to behavioral issues when he is fully grown. Remember that being taken away from his mother and litter mates is a traumatic and scary enough experience for him so be a little patient with this new addition to your family. Your puppy will probably whine for a few days, but he will soon get used to his new family, and will give you all his love and loyalty.

2. If you have objects in your house that you cherish or have sentimental value, keep them out of your puppy's reach. Your puppy, and all puppies for that matter, will eat everything it can get its mouth on. If you want to keep your socks free from holes, don't leave them laying on the floor or in places where your puppy can easily reach them. If you smoke, don't throw the cigarette butts on the floor; your puppy won't think twice about chewing on those. The same goes for any gadgets you have that can be easily scratched and damaged.

3. Don't let other people, family members included, handle your new puppy -- at least for the first couple of weeks or so. It is better that you and another family member handle the new puppy first. If too many people are handling the puppy, he may become nervous and have problems socializing.

4. Avoid picking up the new puppy by his forelegs. Children tend to pick puppies up this way so if you have kids in your house, tell them they should not pick up the new puppy this way. Your puppy's legs are not strong yet and if he can get injured if he is picked up by the forelegs.

5. Don't leave holes inside your house uncovered. Puppies are incredibly curious and they will literally try to get into everything. It can be fatal if your puppy gets stuck in a hole.

6. Don't leave electrical wires uncovered or accessible to your puppy. Cover any exposed wires in your house because your puppy won't spare those. Many puppies have died from electrocution because the house they were living in were not puppy-proof. <bio>Increase the happy years of your dog by checking out my free e-book.
When people think of purchasing a full-bred puppy, many of them automatically think of their local pet shop. But this may not be the best choice at all and there are many reasons behind it. A pet store does not generally see where their puppies come from, what type of living conditions they had, or if they were being treated properly not only in the physical sense but emotionally too. Often times, these puppies end up coming from what is known as puppy mills.

A puppy that comes from a puppy mill is not one you want as they may end up with problems that are not visible right now. And when selecting a puppy from a pet store, you are not likely to get a salesperson that has extensive knowledge about your puppy. They generally just read over a small description of the dog when it comes in, unlike a Havanese breeder who has studied these dogs for years. Pet store employees cannot provide you with the detailed information you need in order to properly make the judgment call if that puppy is the right one for you.

A knowledgeable Havanese breeder should have not only a passion for their furry friends but also a lot of experience in breeding not just any dog, but the Havanese in particular. It is vital that you do not go with a breeder that cannot give you a lot of Havanese information. If you have never owned a Havanese puppy before, it cannot be stressed enough that you must talk with and buy from an experienced and professional Havanese Breeders instead of purchasing your puppy from a pet store.

You will want to have a list of concerns and questions to address with the Havanese breeders that you meet with. Just as it is important to go with a breeder over a pet store, it is just as important to make sure you are going with the right breeder. Havanese breeders who run puppy mills are ones that you want to run from, and then report. Your breeder must be one that has not only a lot of knowledge for the puppies and a lot of love for them too.

All in all, when it comes time to start looking for your new Havanese puppy, make sure that you are first selecting the right place to shop and look around. If something doesn't feel right, then it probably isn't. Educate yourself as much as possible before going and have that list of questions ready to ask. A Havanese breeder should have no problem in answering your questions as a pet store employee would.

Making the right decisions in the purchasing process can save you years of grief and thousands of dollars. The last thing you want is to have a puppy who is smaller then you wanted or noisier then you wanted. You also do not want stuck with vet bills that you weren't expecting because no one informed you of any possible genetic issues that may arise with a certain breed. Basically, do not make this decision based on emotions. Take your time and think it all over before jumping in to buy a new Havanese puppy. <bio>Fiona Kelly's love and commitment to all animals shows in the deep understanding of what Havanese breeders and pet stores have and don't have to offer those in search of the perfect puppy. This author shares with others that deciding to go with a Havanese breeder instead of a pet store is crucial. http://www.havanese-puppy-guide.com/Havanese_Breeders/ have knowledge that store employees just are not equipped with. Selecting the right Havanese breeder is critical. The article explains why going with someone who is well versed in http://www.havanese-puppy-guide.com/Havanese.html is best. </bio>

Are you looking for a new addition to your family but you're not sure what to get? Why not look up a Havanese breeder in your area? Havanese puppies make the best pets. They're smart, easily trainable, they make great additions to your household and they're great around children. If you want to see for yourself just how cute they are, look up a Havanese breeder in your area. Some of them post listings in the local phone book so you can probably find some there, or you can look in your local newspaper to see if any are listed in the classified section. Havanese breeders are also posting listings on social networking sites so you might also have some luck there. The price for new purebred Havanese puppies can be quite expensive, but the price is well worth it. Especially when you consider that you're getting a new best friend. So hurry on over to your local Havanese breeder and see what they have waiting for you.

Once you get your new Havanese puppy home, you'll want to make sure it is completely comfortable. If you have other pets in the home, such as another dog, your best bet is to put the dog in the bathroom so that it can sniff the new puppy under the door. This is a great way to get them used to each other. If you have small children, make sure you keep a close eye to make sure they are not rough with the new puppy. Havanese puppies make great pets and they make even better additions to families. As long as you provide the love and support they need, they'll continue to love you right back in every way possible. Ask your Havanese breeder for any tips on training your new puppy as well as how to house train it, as you'll want to begin this almost immediately. You've just brought home your new best friend so make sure you play with your new puppy as much as possible as they will love all the attention they can get.

If your Havanese breeder wants you to take your new puppy to a specific vet, you should take your new pet there right away. If you have your own vet and the Havanese breeders have no preference, you should make it a priority to set an appointment. Havanese puppies are very susceptible to infections and various diseases so you want to be proactive and get them the shots and the care they need so that they can enjoy a long and healthy life. You should also consider training your new puppy. Training your puppy to stay off the furniture or to use the bathroom outside is going to take time and patience. Most of all have fun with it. As long as you and your new puppy are having fun, your new best friend will pick up on every lesson you teach it and your relationship will inevitably be a great and loving one. <bio>Fiona Kelly has a love for Havanese that goes back many years, and she has owned many of these adorable dogs herself. Check to see if your Havanese breeder http://www.havanese-puppy-guide.com/Havanese_Breeders/ has given your new puppy its required shots. Study up on Havanese information so that you can learn how to help your new puppy adjust to living in your home. </bio>

Last time we covered a bit of everything in a way. We covered many reasons as to why the walk is important to a puppies training as well as to his overall development. We said what a walk does for him. It's important to know this because when go to on a walk with your puppy you need to know exactly what you are doing for him. This is important because when you raise and train a puppy you need to give him the tools to become a stable and happy dog when he grows up. You don't want him to be unstable with regards to his behavior and his attitude. This important time in his life plays such a crucial role that it should almost be enforced when you first get the puppy. Another part of raising a puppy that we discussed was the aspect of roles between you and your dog. Roles are important because they simply establish what role you play with regards to him and what role he should play when it comes to you.

As much as the walk is important, both you and your puppy knowing your roles with respect to each other are just as important. The reason for this the walk is vitally important. Knowing each other's roles is the first step to having a healthy and beneficial relationship. The walk only strengthens that but to have these kinds of effects between you and your puppy, you need to be consistent and you need to determined. The reason I say this is because there have been quite a few people who have started this with this same intent but as the time went by, their determination began to fade and they lost all their hard work.

When you go on the walk you need to go with the intent of teaching your puppy what you think he needs to know with regards to the rules you want to set down. The purpose of the walk is not only for your puppy to go to the bathroom but for you to strengthen the bond between you as well as introduce him to the outside world. Even though that may be you need to make sure you maintain the pace. When you walk you puppy always make sure he walks next to you and not in front of you. This instills the fact that you are the leader of this walk and not him. If he pulls you make sure you stop him and let him know that you don't want to be pulled. This is also where the consistence comes in. Every time he does something that you don't approve of you need to make sure you reprimand him every time he does it. This shows him that his actions are not good and you don't want him to keep doing this. This is just a basic walk though of what should happen during your walk but as you go along it will evolve based on your needs and his actions.<bio>This author lives in Flemington, NJ with her husband and 5 month old daughter and is an expert contributing author for a luxury dog feeders boutique offering variety of dog beds and personalized dog beds.</bio>

One of the most common causes of newborn puppy deaths is what has been named as the "fading puppy syndrome." Many of the unexplained puppy deaths that fall into this category would undoubtedly go elsewhere if only an accurate diagnosis could be made. Unfortunately, many of these poor little pets die so rapidly that no diagnosis can be made other than to say lack of dog nutrition was the key missing element.

The fact is that whether or not the fading puppy syndrome is actually a distinct disease is still questionable. Many believe that it is what happens to any puppy that is unprepared, for whatever the reason, to face the stress of living in the world outside of his mother's womb. Whether or not the failure in preparation occurs before or after the pup is born depends on the reason for the puppy's fading,

Successfully treating the fading puppy syndrome so that it can be saved depends on recognizing the condition early enough and implementing proper remedial action. As a dog owner, you have to be very perceptive in order to recognize early enough the signs of a potential syndrome puppy. Below are some of the things to look out for:

1. An absence of the flight reaction: When normal puppies are taken from their mother and released, they will usually make every effort to scurry back to her. On the other hand, the syndrome puppy will not attempt to go anywhere.

2. Abandonment by the mother: A healthy, normal puppy is licked and protected by his mother. The syndrome puppy is left out of the litter and left in the corner to die.

3. "Slow-motion" activity: A healthy, normal pup is always busy and does not move slowly to do anything while a fading puppy makes slow, deliberate movements, almost like in a slow-motion picture.

4. Hypothermia: Most puppies can survive considerable hypothermia, and normal puppies in a litter usually feel warm and have ample supply of energy to keep their bodies from getting cold. The syndrome puppy does not like to eat and feels cold to the touch.

When you have recognized a puppy that is in the early stages of the fading puppy syndrome, you need to take him away from his mother and littermates and handle him just as if he were an orphan. In order for him to survive, you will have to raise him yourself by supplying his dog food supplementthrough either bottle or stomach tube. <bio>John Mailer has written many articles about dogs and puppies and how to train them. His main business is as an internet marketer. http://www.basicsdogtraining.com/dognutritionfood.html http://www.howtostartonlinehomebusiness.com </bio>
