If you are dealing with a situation in which you are trying to get you finances in order, you may be wondering what options are available to you, what steps you can take to bring a better sense of order to your finances. In this regard, you might want to consider obtaining a debt consolidation loan online.

There are, in fact, a number of significant benefits that can be realized through a debt consolidation loan online. For example, by obtaining a debt consolidation loan online you will be able to protect your privacy to a great deal. Many people avoid trying to obtain a debt consolidation loan in the brick and mortar world out of fear that their friends and neighbors will hear that they had to (or wanted to) obtain that type of financing. There are some misperceptions associated with a debt consolidation loan and not all of them are positive.

As mentioned a moment ago, protecting your privacy is one of the true benefits of seeking and applying for a debt consolidation loan online. When all is said and done, you actually can apply for a debt consolidation loan online from the privacy, comfort and security of your own home. You don't have to go anywhere to obtain a debt consolidation loan online.

Indeed, not a single person has to know that you even made application for a debt consolidation loan when you seek out and apply for a debt consolidation loan online.

Beyond the basics of not "being seen" making an application for a much needed loan to bring order to your finances, a reliable and reputable debt consolidation loan online lender has many structures in place to further protect your privacy when you are dealing with these lenders on the Net. This includes protecting you privacy from online predators that attempt to glom onto a person's personal and financial information.

Moreover, these debt consolidation loan online lenders have protocols that they do follow fairly rigidly when it comes to sharing information that they obtain from you with other business enterprises. In fact, these debt consolidation loan online lenders simply cannot provide your information to other business enterprises without your express permission.

In this day and age, you do not have to worry excessively about privacy issues when it comes to obtaining a debt consolidation loan online from a debt consolidation loan online lender. You really do have as much privacy protection from a debt consolidation loan online lender as you would with a lender doing business in the brick and mortar world. <bio>Find out how getting a debt consolidation loan online can get your finances under control.
One of the essential steps to protecting your privacy is understanding how to read a privacy policy.

Privacy policies should be made available in some form anytime you are asked to provide personal information. Financial institutions, health facilities or other businesses that collect your information can be asked to show you their privacy policy before you give them your information.

If the company does not have privacy policy consider doing business elsewhere. It is a show of respect to customers to tell them how their information will be used.

Online you will find privacy policies posted on websites. The privacy policy is an indication of the steps they will take to protect your identity or to inform you of how they will treat the information you provide. Simply having a privacy policy does not guarantee you any level of protection. To understand what is protected and what is shared you must read the policy.

Each site has its own criteria for a privacy policy. Some give full protection including encryption of passwords and not providing your information to any third party while others tell you that your information will be shared with affiliated companies or businesses they feel you would be interested in hearing from. You must read the policy to be aware of the steps being taken to protect you.

Here are some of the items to look for on a privacy policy:

What Information is Collected and Why?

When a business is requesting personal information it is reasonable to ask what information is collected and why it is needed. If they request information that doesn't seem relevant they should state why they need it. How serious is identity theft? Protect yourself, get free adware download and protect your online security.

If there is no explanation for the request try to avoid giving the additional information or ask them why they need it. Asking for your income or the name of your spouse is the kind of information you might question providing without reasonable cause. What can you do to prevent identity theft?
Protecting your privacy is important no matter whether you are using a free dating site or purchasing goods or services on the internet. No site is perfectly safe, but with a combination of common sense safeguards, you will stand less chance of having your privacy compromised.

Look for Security markers

A free dating site should have a clear statement on the site about what measures the web site owner has taken to protect users of the site from unwanted invasion of their personal privacy. The available technology today makes it possible for web site owners to provide comprehensive security and privacy measures to all the users. However, the members of the dating site must take responsibility for determining that the security exists on the site they are considering. Further, the security and privacy safeguards must be in place at all times and at all levels of the site.

Use Common Sense

Use your common sense to protect your privacy always. Don't give away your social security number, credit card numbers or other types of sensitive information. When you choose a free dating site, you don't need to worry about the wrong person getting the information about money and accounts you hold. You should never need to provide information of this sort with a free site. If you are asked to do so, the site is not free or is asking for unneeded information. Dating site members should never provide information of this site online.

Take your time

Don't be in a hurry to give information to those you meet at a dating site. They may be perfectly innocent questions, but if you are not pressured about giving information to the web site master or by the members you will be protected from much of the risk. Take time to get to know other web site members gradually without rushing into the release of any information that is personal or sensitive. If you only provide the same type of information that you would give a casual acquaintance, you will protect yourself.

Watch for inconsistencies

When you are getting to know others at a free dating site, you should be extra cautious about the stories that you learn about other members. Don't allow yourself to be drawn into a dangerous situation because someone is lying to you about their background and personality. It may be your intuition kicking into place or you may catch other inconsistencies from the conversation with the members, but don't ignore the information your gut gives you about another person or member. You can learn to be very selective about who you choose to further the relationship you start online.

Don't reveal personal information too soon

When you meet someone on a free dating site that you think may be a person of interest, you don't need to be in a hurry to give out telephone numbers or home addresses. Don't tell everything about where you work or where you go to school. In fact, don't tell any of your personal information if you don't know who will be reading it or learning about it on the internet.
You can protect your privacy best by only releasing information that is needed and only to those who have reason to know the information.<bio>If you are looking for tips about protecting your privacy on a Free Dating Site, visit the website at Dating Site now.
Have you heard about the new standard for domain name whois privacy that the Canadian Internet Registration Authority or the CIRA has recently announced? If not yet, then here it is.

Recently, numerous reports have noted that the Canadian Internet Registration Authority has proposes a new standard for the domain name whois privacy. In their proposal, it is considered that the new policy for domain name whois privacy will provide all the dot-ca domain name owners with an enhanced domain name whois privacy safeguards, bringing the domain name whois privacy policy in line with the currently enacted Canadian privacy laws.

Today, the new proposed domain name whois standard becomes the hottest subject of a general public consultation. And this domain name whois policy will see the CIRA to pursue in collecting complete information from dot-ca domain name owners, however, it will create only a little amount of the details that are available to the general public in its web-based domain name whois lookup directory.

Along with such introduction, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority itself have assumed that this new domain name whois standard will ensure greater privacy protection barriers under the dot-ca regime than are recently accessible with so many other internet domains just like the dot-com. In some reports about this matter proposed by the CIRA, it is noted that the president of the CEO of CIRA had mentioned that this new standard for the domain name and whois privacy is all about protecting the people's fundamental right to privacy in the virtual reality. Along with that statement, the president of the CEO of CIRA also mentioned that since the internet is a wonderful and transformative force, it is then right to take some great care to ensure that such dimension serves the people, and not the other way around.

With such main reason for introducing this new standard for the domain name whois privacy, the group further maintains that this policy then sets a new standard among the internet domains. And in particular, the new standard for domain name whois privacy states that for those who register a dot-ca domain name, it is only the domain name, registrar's name, registration date, "last change" date, notice about adjustments in status of the domain name and server IP numbers/names will be accessible through whois. It further holds that the policy for organizations with dot-ca designations will not be changed, so the same date will continue to be accessible through whois. And lastly, the new policy holds that CIRA will pursue to ensure that all registration data is available to law enforcement agencies. <bio>The 12 Month Millionaire Will Show You Everything you did and didn't want to know about making One Million Dollars by this time next year... revealed LIVE!
There are many reasons someone would want to surf the internet anonymously. Many people think that internet privacy is only for those trying to hide something, but that simply is not the case. Internet privacy is essential for normal people like you who value their identity and rights. As governments, search engines, and marketers use increasingly more aggressive methods for tracking what you do online, the need for internet privacy has increased. Government agencies continue to push the boundaries of what they collect and demand from internet service providers, search engines, and individual website owners.

How They're Tracking You

Every time you get online, you run the risk of identify theft. Even seemingly harmless tasks like checking email and the news open you up to vulnerabilities. Website owners and statistics tracking systems can pinpoint the sites you've visited last, your geographic location, and details about your browser and operating system. Worse, spyware and malevolent data tracking systems called cookies can track even more information about your surfing habits. For example, most web browsers today can save passwords for the sites that you visit. While this feature is convenient for us, criminals can often find and use this information to access your email accounts, online banking, and credit card accounts.x

Why They're Tracking You

A large number of people are interested in your surfing habits, from marketing agencies to government agencies. Marketers want to know your buying habits in order to serve you more targeted offers. Governments may be interested in censoring the information you access. While not everyone tracking you may have evil intent, it is dangerous to leave your safety in the hands of others.

How to Stop Them From Tracking You

The best, and perhaps only, way for you to prevent this data collection is to surf the web anonymously. Anonymous surfing can be accomplished by using proxy servers that randomize your IP address as you surf the internet Proxy servers act as a middleman between you and the web sites you visit, preventing anyone from personally identifying you and your surfing habits. Protecting your internet privacy is essential for protecting you and your family from those who wish to harm you. Using proxy servers is an effective way to do this. <bio>TIP Tunnel protects you from security and privacy threats, and allows you to surf the web completely anonymously.
The right to privacy is a serious issue for all online. No formal law exists within cyberspace, and Internet users can find recourse only through the applicable laws of their own government. It is your responsibility to ensure the privacy of your web site visitors. You have to create a transactional or interactive environment that protects the privacy of your customers.

Many people fail to become online consumers because they fear their personal information could be misused or compromised. Identity theft, credit card fraud, breach of personal information are among the more common consumer concerns. According to Marc Rotenberg, Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington, DC, "The absence of consumer privacy protection may in fact be the number one obstacle to the growth of e-commerce."

Privacy is one of the leading issues facing the future success of e-commerce. One of your most important tasks as an online business is to establish trusting relationships with your web site visitors. Be sure to prominently display a privacy policy on your site that details how customer information is collected, used, and protected.

Learn from the pros, if you are unsure about what your privacy statement should look like. There are many highly successful online businesses you can learn from. Don't copy their privacy statements, but use them as learning tools. If there is an industry leader in your field, study their web site. There is nothing wrong with a little bit of competitive intelligence.

As you study privacy policies look for common trends. Take notes, and make an outline. Ask questions as you are writing your outline. What does their privacy statement include? Where is the privacy statement located? Is it easy to find? Using the intelligence you have gathered during your research process, write your own privacy statement.

The body of your privacy policy should have several components such as, how common the collected user information is protected, the security measures you take to protect the information, if you share that information with a third party. Also include privacy information specific to your field. For example, if you're collecting customer e-mail addresses be specific about how you plan to use them.

Always include the company contact information in your privacy policy so that customers can contact you in case they have any questions. Make sure that a link to your privacy policy is clearly visible on your website. At the very least, you should have a link to the privacy policy from your homepage but it doesn't hurt to have a link to it from all web pages. <bio>George Meszaros with Webene http://www.webene.com </bio>

Is there security and privacy on MySpace? This can be a difficult question to answer because there are many possible answers. There can be a certain degree of security and privacy available on MySpace but as with any online community there is also the potential for unsafe situations and violations of privacy. However, there are a couple of ways MySpace members can ensure they are receiving the highest levels of security and privacy possible. This includes being familiar with the terms of service, taking active measures to protect yourself and making use of the privacy features included in the software.

Read the Terms of Service Carefully

Reading the terms of service carefully can give users an understanding of the amount of security and privacy available on MySpace. These terms of service provide members with useful information for the types of activities or content which are prohibited on MySpace. Understanding these regulations will help members to understand whether their actions or the actions of other members are in violation of the terms of service. While the MySpace administrators do not have a policy of policing the community for content violations, they will respond to allegations by other members of violations and will take appropriate actions if the members are in fact found to be in violation of the terms of service. These actions may include deleting the members account and taking appropriate legal actions.

The MySpace privacy policy is referenced within the terms of service and this reference incorporates the entirety of the privacy policy into the terms of service. As a result members who join the MySpace community and agree to the terms of services are also, by default, agreeing to the privacy policy. Therefore, members should carefully review the privacy policy and familiarize themselves with the terms of this policy.

Protect Yourself on MySpace

Members of MySpace do have a small degree of protection afforded by the administrators of MySpace but they can provide themselves with a great deal of additional protection by being aware of how the Internet works and using common sense. Generic safety tips for protecting oneself on the Internet also apply to the MySpace community. Just like it is not wise to give out sensitive information such as your address or social security number on online discussion boards, it is not wise to list this type of information on a MySpace profile either.

MySpace members may think the information they post on their profile is only being viewed by their friends and the members of their extended network but this is not true. There can be many individuals on MySpace who are lurking and viewing members' websites all the time. Some of these lurkers may be completely innocent but others may be harvesting information.

Making Profiles Private

MySpace does have some features which can give members an increased amount of protection. The ability to make a profile private is one of these features. Most MySpace profiles are public and are viewable by both members of the community and nonmembers. However, those who wish to keep their website private can make it only available to those on their friends list.

Members of MySpace also have the ability to remove members from their friends list or block other members from sending them emails or instant messages. Only members in your friends list can post comments on your website so if there are members who are leaving malicious comments, you can remove them from your friends list to avoid future problems. Also, if you are receiving harassing emails or messages you can block users to prevent them from contacting you in the future. <bio>David Riewe is the webmaster of http://www.daves-inforama.com </bio>

We all know the story. The date was April 14, 1865. Four people were in the presidential box of Ford's theater, enjoying "Our American Cousin," a comedy play about a rugged American and his noble English relatives. They included Major Henry Rathbone, Civil War veteran; and his fianc=E9 Clara Harris, daughter of a U.S. Senator. Also seated in the box were President Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Marry Todd Lincoln. Lincoln was shot while watching the performance. He died the next day. His assassin was John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate supporter. But how did Booth access the location of the President of the United States? Booth had performed several times at Ford's theater, so he was very familiar with the building's design. He arrived at the theater's back door, at around 9:00 in the evening. Then, Booth walked down a tight hallway between the theater's balcony, and Lincoln's box. Booth entered the box's door, secured it, and then murdered one of America's most popular presidents ever. Could Lincoln's assassination have been prevented if a closed circuit TV, or CCTV, had been available in 1865?

Protecting Presidents Abraham Lincoln was the first American President to be assassinated. Others who were killed while in office include James Garfield (1881), William McKinley (1901), and John F. Kennedy (1963). Today, security for the American President has improved dramatically. A small army of bodyguards constantly protects him. The U.S. Secret Service guards the lives of the President and his family, as well as other executive officials. It includes over 3,000 agents and 1,000 uniformed officers. Closed circuit TV is one of the tools that assist in the protection of the president and other government officials.

Protecting Politicians Today, closed circuit TV has become useful in protecting government officials in local, state, and federal government buildings. Due to their being high profile areas, government buildings require additional security. This is especially true in political surroundings and those that could become hostile. Local governments must also provide security for numerous areas in town. These include town halls, administration buildings, galleries, zoos, libraries, swimming polls, gardens, and parks. In fact, cities are putting closed circuit TV cameras to monitor several public areas. The goal is to reduce crime, harm to government property, and burglary. Installing closed circuit TV creates "virtual" patrols that are very cost effective. Also, the recording can be used as proof against wrongdoers. Today, the White House is one of numerous governmental buildings monitored by closed circuit TV.

Protecting Privacy While closed circuit TV has become a useful tool for protecting a government's officials and its jurisdiction, would closed circuit TV be lawful to watch Lincoln's presidential box at Ford's Theater today? A place where one expects to be safe from surveillance that is not authorized is a private place. In fact, the majority of U.S. video recordings are legal, whether or not consent has been secured. Nonetheless, many laws addressing the idea of expected privacy involve "Invasion of Privacy." This concept includes areas such as bedrooms, changing rooms, dressing rooms, locker rooms, and restrooms. In all of these locations, one would demand a particular degree of personal privacy. Therefore, it is always wise to consult with an attorney or a law enforcement official prior to installing closed circuit TV.

Today, one can only speculate whether closed circuit TV could have prevented Lincoln's assassination. However, it can certainly help to safeguard the nation's officials and citizens. <bio>Security has a name - closed circuit TV ( http://www.video-surveillance-guide.com ).
There's a host of reasons that you might consider exterior shutters on your home. For instance for adding a distinguished look to your home; filtering out the light; insulating cool or hot air; or protecting you from strong storms.

Nearly anybody could add these shutters to your home rather easily. If you are thinking of doing so, you'll want to first learn about some of the different kinds of shutters that are available to you.

One type of exterior shutters for you to consider is Bahama shutters (these are also known as Colonial shutters). These shutters are very popular because they're quite decorative to look at, plus they provide protection from storms. They're easy to install in any home, and furthermore provide a bit of sound control from outdoor noises.

Bahama shutters also provide extra insulation for your homes temperature control. One more great reason to choose Bahama shutters is for their indoor controls, which let you adjust the shutters for extra privacy (keeping people from peering into your home), yet to allow light to come in if you want.

Another type of exterior shutters are roll shutters. These provide sufficient light control and even greater sound control than the Bahama shutters. As well, Roll shutters are easy to operate with indoor operating functionality. Furthermore, they're very difficult to open from the outside, therefore protecting your home from any outside intruders. They're quite easy to install, though they are not as visually appealing as the Bahama shutters.

Last but not least to add for storm protection are the storm shutters. Storm shutters are specially made for you if you live in hurricane prone zones. These shutters are made with aluminum and galvanized steel to protect your windows from any flying debris from storm damage outside. These are different because they operate from the outside the home. For your home improvement needs these are also easy to install, though they are very unattractive.

However, if you're looking for storm protection for your home and family (which is by far of the up most importance), then this type of exterior shutter is the one that you'll want to go with. Storm shutters are not expensive and can be removed easily when not in use.

By now you have a good idea of how each different type of shutter can affect your home rather your looking for attractiveness or protection in your home improvement needs. They each serve a different purpose.

If you're looking for an attractive window covering, insulation from weather, privacy, or protection from a storm; one of these shutters will surely do the job for you. Now you can decide which one is best for your needs. <bio>Greg Hansward writes mainly for http://www.shades-blinds-shutters-guide.com , an internet site with topics around storm protection and home improvement.
Nanny jobs are demanding. But if you love children, the job should not be taxing, but rewarding. If you are a stay-in nanny, you will have a place to stay. You get free meals and a chance to travel abroad in some instances. But if there is a nannycam, how should you deal with it and what questions should you ask to protect yourself from unwanted surveillance?

Nannies Have the Right to Ask Question Too

When the nanny scare hit the headlines, parents took up arms to defend their rights to install a nannycam in every room purportedly to monitor the nanny's activities. But the law is stern in protecting nannies and other workers. Hence, some states make it illegal not to tell nannies that there are home surveillance cameras around.

As a nanny, you understand this concern. But how about your right to privacy? Here the questions you should ask before you're hired as a nanny:

* Ask about the presence of cameras. Do not wait for the prospective employers or the nanny agency to tell you if a nannycam is installed in the home. It is not that you have something to hide, but it is a measure of protecting yourself from abusive surveillance. Be guided by the existing local laws on home surveillance; you will know your and your prospective employer's limitations on the subject of home surveillance. As in any job, it is always smart to start on the right footing.

* Ask if a nannycam is installed in your assigned quarters. The law definitely prohibits positioning hidden cameras in areas where privacy can be violated. There should also be no spy cameras in the bathroom or dressing room.

* Ask if the nannycam is hooked up to the Internet. You are not trying to be too nosey, but knowing it is makes you confident that the parents are aware of anything suspicious while you're bathing the baby or preparing his food, and they can alert you immediately.

Asking these questions shows you are aware of the issues related to home surveillance. But assure them you do not mind the presence of nanny cameras, as long as you are guaranteed your privacy.

Don't view the nannycam as an enemy tool. It can prevent parents from accusing you of any wrong-doing - the video camera will provide the proof that you've followed their instructions to the letter.

You've Found a Hidden Camera, Now What?

If you have heard of rogue nannies, then there are also rogue couples. It is still in your best interest to act as if there is a hidden camera in your room and in the bath. You will never know unless you discover a hidden camera by chance.

If you have found a nannycam in your room, leave it as it is and do not confront your employers about the discovery. A confrontation may lead to violence. You have two options - stay and keep quiet, or look for another job.

If you quit the job, report the matter to the police, but you need evidences to back up your claim that a pinhole camera was installed in your room. Your employers can deny this and with no back-up proof, think where it will lead you.

In your next nanny job, be wiser. Do your own "bug" sweep in your room and bath with a wireless hidden cameral detector. This may cost you, but it will be worth it. As for the nannycam, let it be.<bio>Pick out your nannycam, hidden nanny cameras, and pinhole video cameras with the help of experts.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you are looking for an online dating service. The site should have a privacy section that states they will protect your information. You can also find out more about the privacy issues by reading the terms of agreement. The terms section may also include wording that tells you if they check applicants for marital status and criminal history. More and more sites are taking this route, but even if they do not, you have going to invite the person to your home after one or two conversations, therefore, you are protecting yourself.

May sure the online dating site you are about to sign with is current with copyright. If a company is older, they may not have upgraded their privacy policies or even have any current or active users. The site should have a continual update from year to year or at least when the copyright expires, they should renew the site with a current copyright. If you do find this to be an issue, you may need to find a new site to try. Once you find a site that has a current copyright with terms and privacy policies in order, look at the overall design of the site.

You want an online dating site that is easy to use and understand. Things are complicated enough when you are trying to meet new people and having a site that is difficult to navigate can frustrate even the smartest computer users. Take a tour of the site before signing up. You will find that some sites are free to join. Always read the small print before signing up. Is there a hidden fee down the line or is the site completely free to you as a user. Will you still receive messages about new callers or do you have to pay to get your messages.

If you find a site that is new and has hundreds of profiles, check some of the profiles to see if they really sound good. Is the site padded with profiles to attract newcomers or is the site made up of real people. You do not want to waste your time talking too made up people. You can always tell if the person is real or not. If someone sounds too good to be true, it might be just that. Always check the site for reviews or rating. This is one way to see how the site is trafficked and find out about the safety features.

Once you have all the answers you need, you can sign up and begin looking for profiles that interest you. It will be a slow process, but that is what you want. You do not want to be bombarded with hundreds of replies to read through. If you are looking for a possible relationship, you should always get to know the person before meeting. This is just another safety precaution to take with online dating as well as others safety tips. <bio>Do you want to stay safe while dating online? visit our online dating website at http://www.dating-online.dk .
Did you know that in the USA there are considerably more lawsuits than anywhere else? Here are afew interesting facts:

1. Nine out of ten lawsuits filed in the world are filed in the United States.

2. We have over 800,000 lawyers in the U.S. That is 4 times more than all other lawyers in the world.

3. If you own a business or are in a profession, you stand a one in three chance of being sued this year.

Is there any wonder, then, why so many lawsuits are filed? Ask yourself this question: how do many lawyers make money? Answer: by suing those of you who have something to lose.

So think about what you have to lose. Answer this question: do you have a home, stocks or bonds? How about mutual funds or an annuity? Maybe you won the state lottery or have a nice car or motor home? Or maybe grandma's nice inheritance. Whatever you may have, it's at risk if you get sued.

But lawyers aren't the only ones who can control your destiny.

Did you know that the powers of the Federal government have increased exponentially? This has resulted in the destruction and destruction of your financial privacy.

The best way to control this power grab by the attorneys and the government is to restore the privacy that was granted to you in the U.S. Bill or Rights. These rights were fought for and plenty of blood was spilled for them. Remember, use them or lose them.

So do your homework and make sure you're protected from being sued. A Nevada corporation may be just the thing for you. And with the resources of the internet, you should have no problem finding some help. But first make sure you understand what you are buying. There is also plenty of bad advice out there. Most hardware stores sell motion activated lights which are easy to install. It is also important to install lights on sides of your home that may be especially dark.

Security Tip #2

Although privacy fences are great for providing privacy for your family they are also excellent for allowing robbers with the privacy to break into your home. Once inside a criminal can take the time to find a way in your house. Install motion activated lights inside the fenced in area and lock the gate securely.

Security Tip #3

Key entry locks are not effective for providing security. Instead, install deadbolts on all entry doors.

Security Tip #4

Contrary to popular belief, criminals do not often enter through windows. This is because they make too much noise when they are broken. You are still better safe than sorry. Keep your windows locked at all times. Glazing is one of the most effective ways to secure windows against breakage.

Security Tip #5

Consider installing a monitored home security system.
It's time to consider internet privacy and security and whether and how an internet proxy server can help.

Generally Speaking: What Do Security and Privacy Mean to Us?

What is security to you? Knowing that your home is locked? Having a car alarm? Security is a relative term and it means something different to each person. For example, some people would find having a car alarm to be over-the-top while others would find a car alarm to be a necessity.

Now let's ask what privacy means to you. Privacy, too, is totally subjective. Some people hate to use public restrooms while others enjoy nudist beaches.

Clarifying These Concepts Online and How an Internet Proxy Can Help

So if security and privacy are such vague concepts in our culture, how do you define and put them into action on the internet? How can they be regulated?

The answer is personal=97it comes down to preference. Did you know that when you surf the internet your online behavior is constantly being tracked and potentially documented? Does that make you uncomfortable?

An internet proxy, without getting into too much technical jargon, is a way to surf online with a bit more anonymity. If you're able to be at least somewhat anonymous when you surf the net, perhaps you'll feel a bit more comfortable, for starters.

Other benefits of using an internet proxy to give you privacy online are that it can help prevent identity theft and spam. That means safety and security for you and your family. Who doesn't want more of that?

The Twisted Web

The internet can seem exciting, fun, and friendly. Never before has there been such a vast library of multimedia, interactive entertainment, business communication and more! And it's all at your fingertips, right in the privacy of your home or office!

With all this zeal that the web incites in us, we forget what a dangerous place it can be. And because we are at home using the net a lot of the time, we think we are in a private, safe place. That is a grave misperception, unfortunately!

The web is neither safe nor private. Having an internet proxy is one way that you can safeguard yourself from the dangers that lie in waiting to prey on you and your loved ones.

One thing that occurs when you are online is that small text files called "cookies" are collected and stored right on your computer about the sites you visited. Sites can access these cookies and this is a potential invasion of privacy. You can configure how your internet browser handles cookies, but a proxy is another way to help.

What Else Helps for Online Safety and Privacy?

A proxy is one method of giving you increased security and privacy online, but it is not an end-all be-all solution, and is not the only solution. Some other things you should consider are using a router (instead of connecting directly to your modem), enabling the Windows Firewall, and getting anti-spyware and anti-virus programs. These programs can detect, prevent, and remove attacks and other issues that come from malicious websites online.

Keep in mind, though, that there are no secrets online, so surf accordingly. You may feel private, and you may be taking precautions, but there will always be someone who knows how to access your information if they really need to (such as the authorities, if you are up to no good!). <bio>Check out our proxy list at http://www.atproxy.net/ </bio>

Operating a business from home does not mean that your life is an open book for the world to read. You will have to set specific boundaries between your work life and your private life in order to insure that your family is not interrupted by your work. You will need to establish specific working hours for your home business and at the end of the day go home. If you let your business consume every waking moment of the day, you will quickly burn out as well as causing an interruption to your family's life.

If you can afford at the start of your business, have a separate phone line installed that is strictly for business. Use an answering machine for after hours calls and unless a client or customer leaves a message that it is an emergency, call them back the next business day. If possible, do not give out your home telephone number as a contact number. You never know if little Johnny or Susie will answer the phone leaving a bad impression on a potential customer.

There are many services that will cross boundaries between your work life and your private life and understanding where they meet will help you keep your sanity when working from home. When you first start the business, it may be easy for your spouse to ask you to get things done around the house while they are at work. You will need to remind them gently that you will be working and no, you don't have time to finish the dishes, or throw a load of laundry in the washing machine and you definitely don't have time to paint the bathroom.

Unless the business requires you to meet with clients and there is no way around it, do not entertain business associates at your home. In fact, clients probably should not even have your home address. Using email and the telephone for client contact is in the best interest for privacy, as you don't want an irate customer banging on your door while you eat supper with the family. A post office box is not overly expensive and can be used for most shipping and helps protect your family's privacy.

Remember, this is your business and you need to remember that your spouse and children are not employees. You may be working out of a home office, but it is still your family's home and you need to make sure you have definite boundaries established. Just as you do not want them crossing into your office space while you are working, you need to show the same respect to your family by not allowing work to cross into their private space. <bio>Dock J.
