An enlarged prostrate is very common in men over the age of 50. With that being said, younger men may suffer but it is not quite as common. If you are a man it is very important that you are familiar with enlarged prostrate treatment and symptoms. This way if you begin to suffer from any problems you will be able to immediately get it checked out by a doctor. If you do not get checked out you may end up in a worse position. Many of the symptoms of an enlarged prostrate are the same as the ones associated with prostrate cancer.

An enlarged prostrate is also known in the medical world as benign prostatic hyperplasia. They are the same condition, and come with the same treatment options and symptoms.

There are a few common symptoms that go along with having an enlarged prostrate. Like mentioned above, many of them are the same as prostrate cancer so it is very important to keep a close eye on them with the assistance of a doctor. Symptoms include:

1. The inability to star the urination flow.

2. A weak stream of urine with difficulty maintaining it for the appropriate amount of time.

3. Stopping and starting during urination.

4. Not being able to urinate, or having to strain to do so.

5. Pain during urination.

6. Frequent urination during the night time hours.

Of course these are only a few of the symptoms that go along with an enlarged prostrate. There are several more, but these are the ones that are most common, and come up in the majority of men that are suffering.

There are several treatments that you can look into if you have an enlarged prostrate. The first thing that you will want to do is speak with your doctor. He or she will be able to tell you what the best option is, and how you should move forward.

In most cases, an enlarged prostrate can be treated with medication. There are several medications that your doctor can prescribe, with each one offering its own level of benefits as well as side effects.

In addition to medication, the removal of the prostrate gland via surgery is also an option. This is something that most doctors and patients want to avoid if possible due to the complications that could occur.

If you know about enlarged prostrate treatment and symptoms you will be able to catch the problem in its early stages. The most important thing to remember is that an enlarged prostrate often times has the same symptoms as cancer. So the first time symptoms arise, it is advised to see a doctor right away to get a proper diagnosis.

Disclaimer: All content within this articles is provided for general information only, and should not be treated as a substitute for the medical advice of your own doctor or any other health care professional.
Recent scientific studies have demonstrated that nutrition plays an essential role in preventing prostrate cancer in men. So what men eat and drink or don't eat and drink can significantly lower their risk of developing this disease.

For beverages, green tea contains powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols that fight against a group of cancers including prostrate.
Two to four cups of this beverage a day has been recommended and men at high risk should consider an extract.

The International Journal for Cancer Research in January 2005 reported that a study of 1,456 middle aged men concluded that those who were drinking four or more glasses of red wine a week reduced their risk of prostrate cancer by 48%.

Another study demonstrated that drinking two glasses of pomegranate juice daily was beneficial. However, this was a small study but additional studies are in progress. Like green tea, pomegranate juice is also high in polyphenols.

The recommended foods are, first of all tomatoes. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant that combats malignancy.

What is nice about lycopene is that cooking improves the concentration so one does not have to be concerned about finding fresh tomatoes, as is the case with other beneficial fruits and vegetables. You get the maximum benefit from tomato sauce, ketchup and cooked tomatoes.

Lycopene is better absorbed if accompanied by a little fat. So one should add some monosaturated fat such as olive oil to tomato sauce. Mixed with spaghetti it makes for a healthful and tasty meal.

It is recommended that cruciferous vegetables, which are high in such cancer fighting agents as indoles and sulforaphane, be consumed frequently. Cruciferous vegetables include cabbage, broccoli, Chinese cabbage, brussel sprouts, collards and kale. And men who eat six servings of vegetables a day are less likely to develop an enlarged prostrate.

Soy foods are also important in the diet, as they are a rich food source of isoflavones, which are supposed to help balance hormone levels.

And oily fish have been found to reduce inflammation and protect against metastases.

Men who do not care for wild Alaskan salmon, sardines, herring or black cod can take a fish oil supplement amounting to 1 to 2 grams a day. It is important to choose wild salmon has farmed fish do not offer the same protection.

People who love chili peppers will be pleased to learn that the capsaicin which is responsible for the hot taste is believed to destroy cancer cells. However, the research study for the benefits of capsaicin was performed with mice, not with humans.

Flaxseed, which contains lignans, is believed to protect against all hormone driven cancers including breast, ovarian and prostrate. A study conducted with prostrate cancer patients concluded that daily ingestion of flaxseed together with a low fat diet actually slowed malignant growth between diagnosis and surgery.

There may also be an age connection between prostrate cancer and diet. A Harvard study suggests that prostrate cancer in younger men is hormone driven while inflammation is the main culprit with older men. Thus the foods that help normalize hormone levels such as soy products and flaxseed may be more helpful to younger men and those that combat inflammation such as lycopene may be more useful in the diets of older men.

Admittedly more research needs to be done, however none of these foods and beverages are harmful to the body, and the fact that they could be helpful certainly make them smart nutritional choices.<bio>Raleigh Comprehensive Dentistry Contact Raleigh Dentist</bio>

To reach the age of fifty is a milestone, but unfortunately this is also the age when men start developing prostrate problems. Four in every five men are known to suffer from prostrate disorders. It is a gland present in all males with the shape and size of a chestnut. This gland is situated at the base of the urinary bladder encircling the urethra. It is believed that 80% men over 60 suffer from some sort of prostrate disorder.

There are various types of prostrate problems or disorders such as hypertrophy or enlargement of prostrate gland also known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), and prostatitis or inflammation in the prostate gland. This condition is painless but causes trouble at the start of urination. This is because prostrate surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder) and when this enlarges urine flow is restricted resulting in frequent need for urination. It also leads to dribbling as the prostrate is not as strong as before. You can also experience dull aching pain in the lower back and pain in the hips, legs and feet.

Some of the causes for inflammation of the prostrate gland and related problems are

Sitting for longer periods in one position. Acute prostatitis can also be caused due to over exposure to cold and chilly climate. Infectious diseases. With the increasing age the body gets heavier and looses its flexibility thus increasing pressure on the pelvis making the prostrate vulnerable. Constipation could also be a reason.

Home Remedies for Prostate disorders

Avoid caffeine in any form like aerated beverages, chocolates and of course coffee and tea as it tightens the bladder neck creating problems for urination.

Avoid consumption of alcohol as this too tightens the bladder neck which could hamper urination. Alcohol is a diuretic and increases urine in the bladder thus creating more problems.

Avoid antihistamines and decongestants as it is more harmful than beneficial.

Stay away from spicy and acidic foods as it affects men drastically with enlarged prostrates.

Be stress-free as it impacts the prostrate gland. Stress can increase adrenal hormones which causes difficulty in urination. One of the best ways to alleviate urination problem is to have more sex. Ejaculation empties the prostrate secretion that hinders urination.

Try to empty your bladder before going to bed.

Saw Palmetto, herb widely used in Germany is very useful in treating Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH). It reduces inflammation, pain, nocturnal urination, retention, trouble in starting urination and dribbling. This should be used for 6 to 12 months and is very effective.

Goldenseal, an antibiotic is very useful for treating prostatitis. It also heals the urinary tract which winces the swollen prostrate.

Lycopene a bioflavonoid extract from tomato reduces dribbling. With strong antioxidant properties it prevents prostrate cancer too.

Pollen (bee pollen) is another method to treat prostrate disorders. It shrinks the enlarged prostrate glands within 6 months.

Although an embarrassing treatment, prostrate massage can provide relief from inflammation and swelling. This is done by the doctor or nurse who inserts a finger into the rectum and massages the prostate for ten to twenty minutes.

Practice Kegel exercises to improve circulation of the tissues. Kegel exercise is done by pulling up all the muscles around the scrotum and anus. Repeat it 10 times and do this at least 5-6 times a day.

You can do Vajrasana and Forward Bend Asana (Paschimothana Asana) to treat prostrate disorders.

Warning: The reader of this article should exercise all precautionary measures while following instructions on the home remedies from this article. Avoid using any of these products if you are allergic to it.
Bladder cancer symptoms are often not apparent until the disease has progressed to an advanced and sometimes fatal stage. This means that if you're genetically susceptible to bladder cancer, you must be diligent about testing and early detection. To learn more about the risks of bladder cancer, its causes and its symptoms, keep reading.

Signs Associated With Bladder Cancer

The common bladder cancer symptoms that are visible to the naked eye include blood in the urine (which gives the urine a rusty-to-red appearance), painful urination or possibly frequent urination.

These symptoms, though almost always present in bladder cancer, are also always present in other urinary and bladder problems like urinary tract infections, prostate issues, prostrate infections, gall stones, cysts and more.

How Bladder Cancer is Diagnosed

The patient at the highest risk for developing bladder cancer is the one with a genetic predisposition for the disease, meaning one or more immediate family members or two or more extended family members have been previously diagnosed with the disease. If a person is at risk, he or she should consult a urologist regularly for cytology, a method used to detect the presence of the malignancy.

Another method used to detect bladder cancer is called cytoscopy. A cytoscopy is basically a small camera that's inserted through the urethra and into the bladder. Once inserted, a urologist can view the interior of the bladder to check for lesions or tumors.

How Bladder Cancer is Treated

The method used to treat bladder cancer will often depend on the stage of the disease and what form it has taken. For example, a superficial tumor may be easily removed in surgery simply by shaving it off. In other cases, immunotherapy is used to treat tumors, while chemotherapy may be used with others.

However, tumors or lesions that are not considered superficial must be removed by removing all or part of the bladder. Some skilled surgeons can even construct a new bladder out of the remaining skin. This is done either in conjunction with or as an alternative to radiation and chemotherapy - often used to finish off any remnants of the cancer.

Are You At Risk for Developing Bladder Cancer?

Though genetic disposition is the most common factor in determining a patient's risk for developing the disease, most urologists agree that environmental factors can play a huge part. For example, holding excessive amounts of toxins and carcinogens in the bladder can become a major cause of bladder cancer.

Born out of concern for these results, recent studies have shown that drinking more than 8 glasses of water in a day can dramatically reduce an individual's risk for developing bladder cancer.

If you are at risk for developing bladder cancer, then you should take action before you see evidence of bladder cancer symptoms. Often, these outward signs are not present until the disease has advanced to a sometimes untreatable stage. So, if you have a strong family medical history that includes multiple instances of this malignancy, you should talk to your doctor and get tested.<bio>For great information on recognizing disease symptoms, please visit diseasesymptomtips.com, a popular site to assist you in spotting early warning signs of diseases, such as a alcoholism symptoms, teenage depression, and many more!</bio>

(For the record, the information for this article came from a periodical I subscribe to on page 9, dated July 15, 2007, Bottom Line Personal, article written by Michael F.Holick of Boston University School of Medicine. You can subscribe to Bottom Line Personal by dialing 800-274-5611. I highly recommend it for sources you can not find elsewhere This is not the complete article and will include my own observations.)

Breakthroughs in studies of vitamin D show it can help prevent cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and more.

People in the southeast have fewer incidences of more than a dozen cancers compared to the northeasterner because they have a lot more sunshine, which is our greatest source of vitamin D.

Active vitamin D fights cancer by (1) slowing or stopping unregulated cell growth, (2) increasing the death rate of cancer cells and (3) reducing blood supply to tumors.

Colon cancer =96 Studies have shown people with the highest form of vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitaminD) had a 50% lower risk of colon cancer.

Breast cancer - The same researchers at the University of California found a similar incidence in a study of 1,760 women in tests for breast cancer.

Prostrate cancer =96 Researchers at Harvard Medical School observed data from an 18 year study of nearly 15,000 men and found those with low levels of vitamin D had twice the risk of developing aggressive prostrate cancer

Statistical analysis shows that increasing blood levels of vitamin D among Americans could result in 185,000 fewer cancers every year and 30,000 fewer deaths.

Vitamin D may help keep blood pressure low by regulating the kidney's production of rennin, an enzyme that controls the relaxation and constriction of arteries.

Low levels of vitamin D can cause and worsen osteoporosis, the bone-eroding disease that often leads to hip fracture. Approximately one in three elderly men and one in five women with hip fractures die within a year, and more than half the women being treated for this disease were found to have low levels of vitamin D.

Those people over 65 with the lowest level of vitamin D had the worst balance and least strength according to the April 2007 Journal of Gerontology. Elderly residents of a nursing home were given either 800 international units (IU) of vitamin D or a placebo and those taking the vitamin D had 72% fewer falls.

The Journal of the American Medical Association reported in December 20, 2006 that veterans with the highest level of vitamin D had a 62% lower risk of developing MS.

Vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to type 2 (adult onset) diabetes. There is evidence that active vitamin D increases insulin production.

Taking a daily vitamin D supplement of 1,000 IU is the easiest way to main healthy blood levels of vitamin D.

You can increase your vitamin D by eating foods fortified with vitamin D but I must insert a warning that the author included in the text.

Beware: A study shows that many cartons of milk contain less than 50% of the vitamin D listed on the label. Vitamin D-fortified orange juice, breakfast cereals and bread are more likely to contain the labeled amount.

I hope that you received as much information from this article as I did.

Reprinted with permission:

This article will be reprinted, without compensation, in several ezines on the Internet.
Whatever your reason for wanting to learn more about testicular cancer, there are many different places you can go to get the information you desire. The most obvious place would be the library, as there have been countless books published on the subject. Over the course of a man's lifetime, he has a 1 in 250 chance of being diagnosed with the condition. This makes testicular cancer one of the more common types of cancer. Fortunately for those who have already been diagnosed, there is a 90 percent survival rate overall associated with testicular cancer. If a guy catches it in the earliest stage, it is estimated that the survival rate is around 95 percent.

Still, just because fewer people die from testicular cancer doesn't mean it should be taken lightly. If you know anything about testicular cancer, you know that it doesn't discriminate. No matter how healthy you think you are, it can still wreak havoc on your body. Take, for example, Lance Armstrong. He was arguably one of the world's best athletes, definitely in shape and taking care of himself, when his world got rocked by a testicular cancer diagnosis. While he battled his way through it, testicular cancer almost killed him. Another popular example is Canadian comedian Tom Green, who lost a testicle to the cancer and made a documentary about his experience.

While testicular cancer affects more Caucasian men than any other race, people of all ethnic backgrounds should know as much about testicular cancer as possible. You are most likely to be diagnosed when you're between the ages of 15-40, but it is also found in infants and men over 60. It's very important to know the symptoms of testicular cancer, so you're aware of what is normal and what you need to see your doctor to discuss.
The prostate is a small, walnut-shaped sex gland in men that produces the seminal fluid, which nourishes and transports sperm. The growth of the cells in the prostate gland is stimulated by the male sex hormone called testosterone. Though its causes are unknown, prostate cancer is a frightening prospect for men. This cancer threatens not just their lives, but also their sexuality. Possible consequences of treatment (even if the treatment has been successful in saving a person's life) include erectile dysfunction and bladder control problems. Prostate cancer progresses very slowly and the early stages show little or no symptoms. If detected early, effective treatment with minimum side effects is possible. Once the cancer spreads (metastizes) treatment becomes more difficult.

A man's vulnerability to prostate cancer increases with age. Most often, prostate cancer is detected very late and people who lose their lives do not die from prostate cancer, but die WITH prostate cancer. As the cancer develops, it eventually squeezes the urethra, which surrounds the prostate. This is when signs and symptoms begin to appear:

-Urgency in urination -Difficulty in starting urination -Dull, persistent ache in the lower pelvic area -Painful urination, a very slow flow (almost like a dribble) -Intermittent urine flow, and a sensation that the bladder is not empty -Frequent urination, sometimes including blood -Painful ejaculation -Persistent pain in the bones, lower back, hip and thighs -General ill health, loss of appetite, and decline in weight

If the cells from the cancerous prostrate break away, the cancer will spread. Most commonly, prostate cancer spreads to the lymph nodes, bones in the hips or the lower back, lungs, and sometimes even the brain.

Risk factors: The risk of prostate cancer increases with age. As with almost any other cancer, heredity also plays a key role. For reasons unknown, African-American men seem to have a higher risk of prostate cancer. A fat-rich diet and sedentary lifestyle also contributes to the risk. Fat causes an increased production of testosterone, which may in turn lead to the development of cancer cells. High levels of testosterone mean higher chances of developing prostate cancer. Therefore men who suffer from hypogonadism, or have been undergoing long-term testosterone treatments are at risk. A vasectomy may also result in prostate cancer, though there is no conclusive proof of this.

A routine screening test may reveal the beginnings of prostate cancer. A DRE (Digital Rectal Examination), which involves inserting a gloved finger into the rectum, helps the doctor to examine the prostate. Any change in shape or size of the gland may mean trouble. A prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test analyzes a blood sample for the levels of PSA. If a higher than normal level is detected, a prostate infection or cancer may be suspected. A transrectal ultrasound helps to further evaluate the prostate using sound waves. If initial tests produce positive results, a prostate biopsy may be done to verify the presence of cancer. If cancer is confirmed, the next step is to investigate the spread of the cancer. A bone scan, CT scan, and Ultrasound scan may be used for this.

The mode of treatment directly depends on how aggressive the cancer is. For most men, a combination of treatments (surgery, radiation paired with hormone therapy, chemotherapy) may prove effective.

The best way to reduce the risk from prostate cancer is to eat a diet rich in fiber and low in fat. Regular exercise also helps. <bio>Gray Rollins is a featured writer for ProstateCares.
Prostatic cancer is the most common cancer in men over the age of fifty.

Adenocarcinoma is the most common form.

Prostate cancers seldom produce symptoms until the cancer is in the advanced stage so early diagnosis is essential as in the early stages the disease is curable.

Location and Function

The Prostate is an organ forming part of the male reproductive system. It is located immediately below the bladder and just in front of the bowel. Its main function is to produce fluid which protects and enriches sperm.

In younger men the prostate is about the size of a walnut. It is doughnut shaped as it surrounds the beginning of the urethra, the tube that conveys urine from the bladder to the penis. The nerves that control erections surround the prostate.

Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

• Waking frequently at night to urinate

• Sudden or urgent need to urinate

• Difficulty in starting to urinate

• Slow flow of urine and difficulty in stopping

• Discomfort when urinating

• Painful ejaculation

• Blood in the urine or semen

• Decrease in libido (sex urge)

• Reduced ability to get an erection

Most men tend to accept the onset of one or more of these symptoms as being a natural consequence of ageing. However, anyone experiencing any of the above symptoms is advised to consult a doctor without delay. Early expert diagnosis and treatment of tumors is important and may avert potentially serious health consequences.

Prostate carcinoma is usually one of the slower growing cancers. In the past, it was most frequently encountered in men over 70, and many of those men died of other causes before their prostate tumour could kill them. This led to the old saying "most men die with, not of, prostrate cancer".

However, that is certainly is not true today. Three developments have changed things considerably:

• Men are living longer, giving the cancer more time to spread beyond the prostate, with potentially fatal consequences.

• More men in their early sixties, fifties and even forties are being detected with prostate cancer. Earlier on-set, combined with the greater male life expectancy, means those cancers have more time to spread and become life-threatening unless diagnosed and treated.

• Prostate cancer in younger men often tends to be more aggressive and hence more life-threatening within a shorter time.

Risk Factors and PSA Testing

Risk factors for prostate cancer include diets high in fat and low in vegetables. Risk factors include; age, 75% of cases are in men over 65 years and familial sufferers. Prostate cancer is most often discovered by physical examination or by screening blood tests, such as the PSA (prostate specific antigen) test.

The PSA test measures the blood level of prostate-specific antigen, an enzyme produced by the prostate. The risk of prostate cancer increases with increasing PSA levels.

The majority of men who reach age 85, in fact, have cancerous prostate cells, but the disease is developing so gradually that it never threatens their quality of life.

Genetic factors play a role, particularly for families in whom the diagnosis is made in men under 60 years of age, and the risk of prostate cancer rises with the number of close relatives who have the disease.

Preventative measures

Researchers at Harvard University found that men who ate cooked tomatoes or foods made with them (tomato sauce or ketchup, for instance) more than twice a week were less likely to develop prostate cancer.

Daily use of anti-inflammatory medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen may decrease prostate cancer risk.
Frequent ejaculations also seem to have a definite protective effect against Prostrate cancer.

Many prostate cancers are not destined to be lethal, and most men will ultimately die from causes other than of the disease. Because many prostate tumors are slow growing, survival rates are excellent when the disease is detected in its early stages.

Treatment Options for Prostate Cancer

The most appropriate treatment is primarily determined by the stage and aggressiveness (how quickly it is growing and spreading) of the disease when it is discovered. Detecting prostate cancer early is the key to beating the disease.

Many factors affect the decision whether or not to treat the disease: the patient's age, whether the cancer has spread, the presence of other medical conditions, and the patient's overall health.

Treatment for prostate cancer may involve watchful waiting, surgery, radiation therapy including brachytherapy and external beam radiation, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), chemotherapy, cryosurgery, hormonal therapy, or some combination.

Because all treatments can have significant side effects, such as erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence, treatment discussions often focus on balancing the goals of therapy with the risks of lifestyle alterations. Natural treatments for prostate cancer symptoms are also worth looking at.<bio>Dick Aronson has been involved in the healthcare industry for 35 years.
Cancer is one of the worst things to hear from your doctor. Cancer, it sounds like a death sentence but it just doesn't have to be so. Consider these facts about cancer.

There is no form of cancer that someone hasn't beaten and recovered from.

Statistics tell us that more than 50% of all serious types of cancer can be cured.

The fact is that cancer is a unique and deadly condition that you can over come if in fact you understand the condition and use every resources that you have to fight it, you can overcome it.

Understanding The Disease

There are several things to consider about this disease. First, it is unlike any other condition because of the way that it mutates. It doesn't go from being one cell to being two, then three, and then four. Instead, it goes from being one cell to two cells, to four cells, to eight cells and so on. This is what allows it to grow so fiercely in the body. Because of this factor, promptly fighting it is a must.

Another thing to consider about cancer is how it can easily move through the body. Since it takes a billion cancer cells to be as large as a small pea, you can see just how easy it is for cancer to get into your blood stream and travel to virtually any area of your body. To complicate this even further, every type of cancer, from lung cancer to breast cancer and so on is a different condition. Each cancer is unique. Each needs their own treatment protocol then.

What It Takes To Overcome

Here are three things that are necessary when it comes to overcoming cancer. Believe it or not, you need to be in control of each of these phases as no one can fight it harder or better than you.

1.Prompt treatment. The smaller the amount of cancer cells in your body, the more likely you are to have a treatment that works successfully for you. Pre-screenings and testing is a must for everyone. There is no limited population that is immune to cancer.

2.Thorough treatment. In many cases, the type of treatment that you have will get rid of your condition in one case. If not, it may not be possible to continue with the same treatment. For example, if you have radiation, your body can only have a certain amount. If the cancer is not gone after that point, you can't have more. That's why it is important to have a thorough treatment and follow every single step in the process to a T.

3.Mentality. Probably the most important condition that is required when it comes to fighting cancer is having the right attitude about recovering. A positive attitude is a must and without it, you may just not survive.

Understanding cancer and giving your body what it needs to recover from it is a must. When you do this, you will improve your life and chances considerably. <bio>Michael Lewis is part of the writing team at http://www.mightylife.com where you can find more articles about cancer and survival. </bio>

There are many tomato lovers all over the world and they would be more than happy to know the importance of tomato. The number of qualities tomato possesses is impeccable making it one of the finest fighting machines for cancer. Ketchup is one of the favorite thing kids like to have. If not anything the children would easily lick all the ketchup from the plate. It is one of the best ways to provide the needed anti-oxidants, though having it in excess may not be good for you. These anti-oxidants remove the free radicals which are implicated in causing diseases like cancer.

Other than preventing cancer it also prevents heart attack due to abundance of vitamin C and E. Tomato also contains lycopene - a fabulous anti-oxidant, which prevents bad cholesterol in the blood. This anti-oxidant gives tremendous boost in the fight for cancer. Lycopene happens to prevent cancer of the mouth pharynx, esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum. It also reduces risk of prostrate and cervical cancer.

The presence of vitamin C in tomatoes helps it to fight diseases like asthma. It is a useful anti-oxidant which prevents asthma and curbs its development which causes further problems. Children suffering from asthma and problems like constant wheezing can find relief if they have rich vitamin C diet. Vitamin C deficiency causes easy bruising as well as a disease called scurvy. By having fruits and vegetables which are rich in vitamin C can cure many of your health problems.

Home Remedies From Tomato

Tomato is known to treat the skin disease known as eczema. By drinking tomato juice everyday you can see the difference.

If you want to loose weight, have a raw tomato early morning. It would help to remove those extra pounds you been carrying around.

Having raw tomatoes can provide relief from mouth ulcers. Gargling tomato juice 3 to 4 times a day would also help.

If you love having a farm but are not sure how to kill those worms here is an easy solution. Use 10 -15 tomato leaves for 1 liter water. Immerse these leaves in the required water for 24 hours. Strain it and use the water as an insecticide especially for cabbage worms.

To remove dark circles under your eyes make a paste by using 1 tsp tomato juice, 1/2 tsp lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of gram flour. Apply this paste under your eyes and keep it for 10 minutes. You will notice the difference with regular use.

Warning: The reader of this article should exercise all precautionary measures while following instructions on the home remedies from this article.
If you're a guy, particularly if you're in the 15 to 40 age range, you should know what the symptoms of testicular cancer are. Over the course of your lifetime, you've got a 1 in 250 chance of getting diagnosed with testicular cancer. While that may not sound like terrible odds, when you take into consideration how the cancer will progress if left undiagnosed and untreated, you've got too much to lose not to be aware of what to look for. Nobody is immune from testicular cancer, as Lance Armstrong showed the world. Tom Green made a documentary to raise awareness, as he ended up losing a testicle to the potentially deadly condition.

There are several symptoms of testicular cancer that you may have if you've got it, including loss of sexual appetite, blood in semen and a significant increase or decrease in the size of one of the testis. If you notice any of these symptoms, it's absolutely imperative that you see your doctor as soon as possible. Testicular cancer is one of the least deadly, killing roughly 10 percent of those diagnosed. If caught in stage 1, only 5 percent of people diagnosed will die. The earlier that testicular cancer is caught, the better for the person affected.

Other symptoms of testicular cancer include pain and tenderness in the testicles, a dull ache in the groin or abdomen and a lump or hardening of one of the testicles. Treating the cancer can be a difficult thing for the patient to go through, sometimes chemotherapy or removal of the testicle is the only way to rid the body of the cancer. Also, if you've already had and beaten testicular cancer, you aren't out of the woods. It has been known to come back, even if one of the testicles has been amputated. <bio>Want more tips on spotting the symptoms of Testicular Cancer?
If you've recently been diagnosed, or are worried you might have it, you might be asking yourself what is testicular cancer? As you may have guessed by the name of the disease, testicular cancer is a form of cancer that is found in men's testicles. Over the course of a man's lifetime, the odds of him getting testicular cancer are roughly 1 in 250. Surprisingly enough, the age group most affected by it is relatively young. It is most commonly found in males aged 15 to 40, and men are most frequently diagnosed in their mid twenties. Fortunately, the survival rate for those who have been diagnosed with testicular cancer is extremely high, approximately 90 percent. In fact, stage 1 testicular cancer has a survival rate of up to 95 percent.

Now that the question of 'what is testicular cancer' has been answered, let's talk about the symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms are blood in the semen, loss of sexual appetite, tenderness or pain in the testicles, a lump or hardening in one of the testicles or an increase (or drastic decrease) in size of one of the testes. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is imperative that you see your doctor as soon as possible. While testicular cancer is rare in African American males, the incidence of it has doubled in that particular demographic from 1988 to 2001. It is also possible for infants to get testicular cancer, and incidence actually peaks in that age group as well as in men age 60 plus.

Between 7,000 to 8,000 men are diagnosed in the United States each year, and if you've overcome testicular cancer in the past it can come back. Recently, testicular cancer has been in the media quite a bit. Former Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong was diagnosed and almost died of testicular cancer, as did Tom Green and Richard Belzer. So what is testicular cancer? It turns out, it's something that no man is immune from. <bio>Learn more about what is testicular cancer at the Mens Health Forum. When you think about it, the statistics are staggering. Not only is testicular cancer fairly common, but it can affect any age group. While you're most likely to be diagnosed with testicular cancer while you're in the 15 to 40 age bracket, everyone from infants to the elderly are at risk. On the bright side, testicular cancer is one of the less deadly forms of the ailment. The mortality rate for testicular cancer as a whole is only around 10 percent, and when it is caught in the earliest stage that number drops to approximately 5 percent.

Still, many people have died from it and it doesn't matter how healthy you are. Take, for instance, Lance Armstrong. The man was a living legend and had won the Tour De France several times when he was diagnosed at the peak of his career. While he ended up living through it, testicular cancer was almost the end of this American Hero. As a result, a huge movement started with people buying and wearing yellow rubber LiveStrong wrist bands. Aimed at raising awareness, the little yellow bands did their job. All that, and many people still don't know many of the testicular cancer symptoms.

If you're unfamiliar with testicular cancer symptoms, please hop online and look them up. There are several of them, many of which are relatively obvious. Others, however, might not send up as many red flags. For example, did you know that dull pain in your lower abdomen is a symptom of testicular cancer? I certainly didn't, until I did my homework. I suggest you do some of your own, it could just save your life one day. <bio>Learn more about Testicular Cancer symptoms at the Mens Health Forum.
When a doctor wants to evaluate the progress of colon cancer of one of his patients he or she uses a method called Staging. This method is about finding out to what extent the tumor (colon cancer) has spread to the other regions of the patients body. Once the doctors figured out in what stage the colon cancer is, they will develop the best course of action or treatment.

At this point in time the system that is most commonly used for the staging process of colon cancer is called the American Joint Committee on Cancer's (AJCC) TNM staging system. Simply put this system used for staging places the patients into one of four stages.

Stage 0

Stage 0 also known as carcinoma in situ or colorectal cancer. In this stage the colon cancer has been detected in the innermost lining of the colon.

Stage I

In this stage the colon cancer has already begun to spread. But the cancer is still in the inner lining of the rectum or colon. In this stage the colon cancer has not reached the outer walls of the colon yet. Stage I is also known as Duke A or colorectal cancer.

Stage II

In this stage the colon cancer spread more deeply into or through the colon or rectum. Possibly the colon cancer may have affected other tissue as well. In this stage the colon cancer hasn't reached the Lymph nodes (bean-sized structures which can be found in the entire body that helps the body fight all kinds of infections and diseases. Stage II is also known as Duke B or colorectal cancer.

Stage III

When you are in this stage the colon cancer has now spread to the Lymph nodes although it hasn't spread to nearby parts of the body. Stage III is also known as Duke C or colorectal cancer.

Stage IV

In this stage the colon cancer has spread through the Lymph node system to other nearby tissue. This is most commonly called metastasis. The organs that most likely are affected are the lungs and liver. Stage IV is also known as Duke D or colorectal cancer.

Recurrent Colon Cancer or Cancerous Cells

When doctors talk about recurrent colon cancer they mean that cancerous cells that have already been treated have returned. These cancerous cells could possibly have returned as colorectal cancer but they might as well return in any other part of the body too. <bio>By Kyle Greatbatch http://www.colon-health-01.com </bio>

With the advancements in the technology or today more and more people who suffer from a critical illness are now living longer. Critical illness cover can be taken out to protect against the possibility of you falling ill and a policy usually contains a long list of illnesses that are classed as being critical. The cover would pay out not only if you were seriously ill because of one of the illnesses, providing you have waited a certain length of time from contracting the illness, but would also pay if you become disabled as a result.

A policy would usually take into account around 30 illnesses which could include cancer, heart attack, suffering a stroke and kidney failure or transplant. Of course you have to check out the terms and conditions of the policy before taking it on as they do differ. There are also many exclusions which have to be checked and these can apply to the various illnesses. For example while in the majority of cases critical illness cover would payout if you were diagnosed with cancer, not all forms of cancer would be covered. Skin cancers are usually exempt from the cover as is prostrate cancer unless it is advanced. There are also exclusions for such as a heart attack and different policies will have different exclusions in them. Therefore you should never skip over the small print however tempting it might be.

When you are looking into choosing critical illness online you are able to take out a policy for any number of years. As long as you pay the premiums each month then the policy can continue running. There is always a period in which you cannot claim when taking on the cover and this would normally be around three months. While the advancement in technology means that you can live longer when being diagnosed with a critical illness it also means that insurance companies are putting up the cost of the insurance and as more advancements are made, premiums will continue to rise.

There are many factors that you have to take into account when choosing critical illness and when you look around you will find that there are many different policies offered by insurance companies. Never just take the first policy you find without looking into what is covered and is not, while you might get the cover cheap it would probably not cover many illnesses.

One thing to look for when deciding which critical illness cover to go for is whether or not the premiums will be fixed. If they are not fixed then you can expect the insurance company to raise them perhaps every other year. This could mean that what once was affordable cover now becomes a burden. A large number of policies will also provide cover for any children you have as standard. Sometimes the company will include children in the policy as standard while other providers could ask for a small premium. If you allow a broker to search around on your behalf for premiums then you can compare these easily for the best cover. All insurance found this way should come with what are called the key facts and these will tell you important information about what the policy entails.<bio>David Thomson is Chief Executive of BestDealInsurance an independent specialist broker dedicated to providing their clients with the best deal on their life insurance, critical illness cover and home and motor insurance.</bio>

Ovarian cancer, as in all other forms of the disease, is graded by treating doctors according to its level of advancement. The stages of ovarian cancer are graded one to four, with four being the most serious stage.

Stage one of cancer of the ovaries is the least advanced stage. This is where the cancer has been discovered relatively early in its development and has been confined to the ovaries only. In stage one, as in all the other stages of the disease spread, there are also sub stages, and they run as follows:

Stage 1a: The cancer is contained inside one ovary

Stage 1b: The cancer has spread to both ovaries

Stage 1c: The cancer is contained to one ovary and there is some evidence of cancerous cells appearing on the ovary's surface.

Stage 1d: The cancer is contained to one ovary and there is some evidence of cancerous cells found in the abdominal fluids.

Stage 1e: The cancer is contained to one ovary and the ovary ruptures either before or during surgery.

In stage two of ovarian cancer, the cancer has spread to be outside the ovaries. The sub stages of stage two run as follows:

Stage2a: The cancer has spread into the fallopian tubes or the womb

Stage 2b: The cancer has grown into other tissues in the pelvis. These can be either the rectum or the bladder.

Stage 2c: The cancer has spread into the fallopian tubes or the womb as well as other tissues in the pelvis as well as there is some cancer on the surface of at least one ovary

Stage 2d: The cancer has spread into the fallopian tubes or the womb as well as other tissues in the pelvis as well as cancer cells are found in abdominal fluid during surgery.

Stage 2e: The cancer has spread into the fallopian tubes or the womb as well as the ovary ruptures before or during surgery

Stage three of the ovarian cancer's development means the cancer has spread outside the pelvis into the abdominal cavity. The cancer is also designated as being stage there if cancerous cells are found in the lymph nodes of the upper abdomen or groin.

The sub stages of stage three run as follows:

Stage 3a: Cancer can be seen under the microscope in tissue taken from the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum)

Stage 3b: Tumorous growths smaller than 2cm are discovered on the lining of the abdomen

Stage 3c: Tumorous growths smaller than 2cm are discovered on the lining of the abdomen, or the lymph nodes in the upper abdomen, or the groin or behind the womb contain cancer.

Stage four is the most advanced of all forms of ovarian cancer, where the cancer has spread into other body organs such as the liver or lungs. <bio>Fred Camaros is a medical researcher and writer.
Cancer is one of the few serious health conditions for which we can't always pinpoint a cause. We know exactly how serious health conditions such as AIDS are contracted, but cancer is trickier. Many times cancers are caused by environmental factors such as chemicals, smoking, exposure to natural sunlight and unnatural sunlight, such as tanning beds, and even x-rays. Sometimes cancers are genetic; the odds of developing them are great, or, they are simply triggered by these kinds of factors. And then there are the times when cancer shows up unexpectedly with no surface explanation.

While we don't always know what causes cancer, we do know certain steps we can take to help prevent cancer, and maintaining a healthy weight is one of those steps. Studies show that obesity can contribute to various kinds of cancers, such as ovarian, endometrial, colon, kidney, and breast cancers. Being obese can also aid in preventing a person from cancer survival, and even serve to speed up the progression of cancer.

We have treatments for cancer, and sometimes those treatments work. Whether cancer treatments work temporarily or for a lifetime is basically a case-by-case outcome. What isn't case-by-case, however, is the cost of cancer treatment. Having adequate health insurance can help cover the cost of cancer treatment, but most health insurance policies don't cover all costs, and some don't even cover the treatments at all.

Therefore, relying solely on your health insurance policy to cover the cost of cancer treatments and, hopefully, cancer survival, isn't wise. Cancer survival isn't about how much health insurance you have. Cancer survival isn't about having the best health care that money can buy. Cancer survival is about taking the necessary steps to treat yourself. And, taking the steps to prevent cancer, rather than the steps to finding a health insurance policy that will cover you once you've been diagnosed with cancer, should be the first steps you take. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Tips.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ </bio>

One of the many forms of insurance that you can take out to give you financial peace of mind in the event that something should happen to you is critical life insurance. This type of cover will pay out a lump sum should you be diagnosed with one of the illnesses outlined within the policy.

Critical illness insurance will pay out if you are diagnosed as having a pre-determined critical illness, there are a range of around serious illnesses which are now included in a policy such as this, but of course this will vary from company to company and the policy which is on offer, so you should always ensure you understand what your particular policy covers.

However the majority of policies do cover certain conditions which are classed as core or foundation conditions and these include cancer, heart attack, kidney failure, a major organ transplant, coronary heart by pass, multiple sclerosis and a stroke. However not all illnesses are covered and in fact recently, new rulings have been set out by the Association of British Insurers regarding which conditions can be claimed on.

Due to this it is imperative that you understand conditions which are excluded from critical insurance policies. For example, conditions such as non-evasive skin cancer and prostrate cancer which isn't considered to be advanced is excluded from within a policy. Of course these are just a few examples and there are many more.

Even conditions such as heart attack has to be clearly outlined, for example there has to be evidence that there are pains in the area of the chest, along with changes to an E.C.G scan for example. If the heart problem is thought to be caused by angina then in some cases this is also excluded from the policy.

Critical illness insurance benefits everyone, those who are married and have dependant children as well as those who are single. Critical illness cover can be used to pay off the mortgage or for private medical treatment which can be more beneficial than having life cover which will only pay out if you die.

Critical insurance cover can be taken out from between the ages of 17 and 70 and can be taken out for a pre-determined amount of time, such as to go alongside the term of your mortgage. From taking out the cover there will normally be a period of time in which you cannot make a claim, for the majority of policies this is usually a period of 3 months.

Choosing the right type of critical insurance can be a problem as currently there are over 200 different versions of critical insurance cover, so understanding the type of cover you need is essential. Understanding the level of cover is also essential as some policies seem to cover just about anything, when in fact there are a lot of hidden exclusions, while a high price is charged for the product. <bio>David Thomson is Chief Executive of BestDealInsurance (http://www.bestdealinsurance.co.uk) an independent specialist broker dedicated to providing their clients with the best deal on their home, motor and life insurance. </bio>

Some women don't take prostate cancer very seriously, thinking it's a mens issue and it isn't something that they need to be concerned with. Still, if you have a man in your family, it's definitely something you need to be aware of. Most guys don't look forward to the birthday that makes them old enough to need regular prostate examinations. It's not a good time, but they could save your life by catching the cancer in its early stages. Prostate cancer is the second most popular cancer in American men, second only to skin cancer. Fortunately, it doesn't need to be deadly.

Though it's a mens issue because it doesn't affect women, prostate cancer can have devastating effects on a family. About one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in his lifetime, but since nine out of ten of the time it's caught in a local or regional area it's not extremely deadly.
