Are we guilty? Have we done this? Of course. Does everyone who does the business abuse their friends? Of course NOT.??

So you might ask, why am I even bringing this up? Why not just call the guy ignorant, or opinionated, or wrong, and be done with it? As in "That's his world view and we have ours." (Think Lakoff's seminal "Don't Think of An Elephant" book - a treatise on how people with strong views about an issue seek whatever it is that amplifies their existing world view, the facts notwithstanding.) But I think that for us to shrug off this attitude which Jason expresses so well is a mistake.??

The perception out there of the and those in it is not good. And while I don't expect to change the minds of those who've already made them up, perhaps we can at least slow down the numbers of new people who come to share this negative view of our business. After all, even the massage industry has gone up a few notches in the world of public opinion.??

Step one in making any kind of change is to recognize there is a problem. And this perception of folks in our business - of being low rent and generally not of quality is a very very big one. How often have you lost a good customer or potential sales rep after they found out it was mlm? How often do we see ads for home based businesses that trumpet "Not mlm!"??

(Interesting how many commenters seem to be in denial about this perception. Accept it. People have it. Many people would buy from us if they didn't. Easy to blame the people. The more challenging question is: how do we stop fostering that perception?)

I promised some suggestions to help minimize this perception...here are three.

1. Be transparent. Before you say one word, ever, to anyone you know, about the wonders of your product let them know you are selling it. First. So your comments can be taken with the right grains of salt by the other person.

2. Be out there about andquot;whyandquot; you are selling it. Everyone wants to buy stuff. We all like to buy what we want from someone we can relate to - someone who seems and cares about what they're selling.

Everyone also needs to make a living, and we all know that.

So if you market earth-friendly cleaning products because you have long been an environmentally concerned person, let people know that about you. So the connection between what you do for a living and your is clear.

Plus your recommendations will mean more to someone who's not quite as conscious about the environment as you, but is becoming more so. You can assume a person will figure that you could have sold ANY earth-friendly product line. So if you chose this one, it must be pretty good.

3. Limit your gushing or crowing about the products. Other than your personal story about it, and why you are now selling it, limit the andquot;It's just the best, life altering, one-of-a-kind, proprietary, patented, amazing, new and exciting, etc.andquot; . The more you say about its wonders, the more uncomfortable you make everyone else, because they know you are selling it. You start looking like the pushy sales type most women try to get away from quick.

Just tell your before and after story - that first date script. Then, you can ask, andquot;Uhh, do you know anyone who might like to know about a product like that? Or who might want to help me find more customers? Let me know, ok?andquot;

Let's suppose you came to see me, in my capacity as a therapist, because you were looking to quit smoking. If after a few sessions you find you are down to one or two each day, technically, you haven't achieved what you set out to do, quit smoking. Would you see this as a failure? Would you conclude that the therapy isn't working? Would you choose to perceive it positively? Would you conclude that the therapy is working very well and only requires a of . We quite literally forget sometimes that reality is simply what we make it, and that we can dictate reality for ourselves, by how we choose to see things. It's how you perceive something that makes it reality.

Many of us don't even realize that we have the choice. We simply accept our perception as reality.

Attitude as it relates to success works in the very same way. Self-talk dictates how you see things. If you choose to tell yourself that you have too much work to do and you'll never get it done, that is your reality. On the other hand, if you choose to tell yourself that you have a full day of work and a plan for getting it done, and you are looking forward to a well deserved evening with friends, then that will be your reality. Mostly by the terminology that is used when people are showing their business plans. Also, by the illustrations that have been shown for years like the drawing of circles one underneath the other underneath the other and so on.

For this particular prospect, it is his perception that he is "under" someone, as if he is a subordinate to the person above him. Nothing could be further from the truth! It's interesting to note that he has no problem being a subordinate to his boss at his job. Those of us that understand the brilliance of the Network Marketing compensation plan know that in reality, MLMs are truly the most level playing field available for anyone who gets involved compared to any other out there.

The reality, as we know it, is that EVERY person that gets involved in an MLM program has an equal chance of success in terms of promotion status and compensation than anyone else in that program. No matter where that person may be in the "system". When one person sponsors another, they are on equal ground in terms of the success each one can achieve. The new associate can actually out promote and can far out earn his sponsor if he so chooses. He who does the work gets paid the most. Isn't this the most sought after thing in the work world? That is equal opportunity for everyone no matter who they are or where they come from? Isn't this what traditional business has been trying to accomplish for years? So in this case, who actually is below or under who?

Network Marketing is truly the most equal and level playing field for anyone who makes the decision to get involved despite of their background. The traditional business structure is far from being this fair. The true "pyramids" are traditional businesses and governmental structures where the guy at the top always makes the biggest money while those UNDER him are compensated far less. Additionally, those in the "downline"(better term for these business structures) of the traditional business can NEVER promote past the guy at the top. They may be able to promote past others in their "upline"(better term for this structure), but usually at the expense of someone else. When someone is promoted in the traditional business structure, many times it is at someone else's expense fostering resentment and bitterness by those demoted or passed over.

In Network Marketing, on the other hand, a sponsor would love for anyone in his "downline"(can we get rid of this term?) to promote to any level they desire. In fact, the sponsor encourages it and begs for it=85 Please promote!... Everyone! Any associate's income in Multi-Level Marketing is NOT at the expense of anyone else's in the organization.

I've made several references to terminology and whether I believe it's good or bad depending on which business structure you are referring to. Network Marketing's references to those in one's organization giving the perception of subordination really need to be done away with. "He's in my downline." "She's in my upline." It is my belief that the perceptions of many prospects like the one I referred to earlier might have had a different opinion if certain references and illustrations changed in Network Marketing.

So what should you call your business partners in your Networking business? Well, just that, "Business Partners" is a start. I don't think anyone should refer to their business partners as part of their "downline". That would seem to indicate that they are somehow lesser than you or a subordinate to you in some way and we know that this is NOT the case.

I don't believe when circles are being drawn for a prospect that you should put yourself ABOVE them. On the contrary, you should draw YOUR circle at the BOTTOM of the page and put your partner circles above you. Or draw them out to the side. After all, they are equal partners with an equal chance to succeed.

We all know that the true pyramids are the traditional business structures. Let's separate and distance ourselves from them. Can we please?!? MLMs are equal opportunity and traditional business is not. We need to clearly distinguish Network Marketing businesses as the equal opportunity structure that traditional businesses are not.

These insights are occurring in an accelerated way, now, due to the presence of greater light on the earth. This light, absorbed by both body and , advances the state of spiritual knowing and understanding, producing a wealth of new experiences depending upon what a soul is open to.

In the face of these greater openings, can also arise concerning the validity of the new, and especially in the beginning, a of taking them seriously or of being wrong about them can occur. All doubt arises from an absence of light of sufficient strength to create and a sureness about what one is feeling and sensing. In the presence of light and while immersed in it, doubt is replaced by clear-thinking and clear-seeing and at least for the moment, it becomes possible to know what is true and what is not true. Yet for many, the experience of clarity is not constant, and so when the moment of greater clarity passes, the self returns to lower level personality concerns and starts worrying again that its perceptions and intuitions are not real.

Stabilizing light in one's body and consciousness is of great importance when one is beset by doubt, since the constancy and continuity of a vibrational atmosphere in which one lives, breathes, and conducts all the activities of the day, seals out the forces creating doubt and allows the vibration of the mental and emotional bodies to remain relatively constant. While all doubt will only be removed when a sufficiently high vibration of light enters the picture, lower levels of doubt can be eliminated even now, and the psyche can become significantly less troubled by concerns of being wrong or misguided.

The problem of learning to see clearly applies not only to the phenomenon of developing extraordinary or intuitive perception, but also to the phenomenon of seeing oneself clearly and others clearly. Here, too, perception has often been governed by personality factors that have created emotional filtering and a skewed view of others. When insight occurs, this generally takes the form of seeing one's own motivations and attitudes more clearly as well as seeing the other more clearly, and so there are greater opportunities now, in the presence of increased light, for the healing of relationships to take place.

Another area in which illuminated insight can have a healing effect is in the area of intuiting things about the future. One can have an inner perception of what is to come based entirely on an inner knowing, because the soul can communicate such knowledge to the conscious mind which may carry it with varying degrees of confidence. Though the future cannot be fully known because it is in a continual process of unfoldment, there are many primary currents related to planetary transformation which remain stable and can be seen, felt, and sensed, based on the increased infusion of soul-knowledge into the personal self.



Such soul-knowledge is always positive, because the outlook for the future that is transmitted from the soul does not contain fear but only hope, and because God's plan for the earth is one of great promise and of the fulfillment of promises made in the beginning. However, where fearful elements are added to this perception, it is generally because the personal or smaller self is viewing the original intuitive perception from its own standpoint of observation, and is feeling unready to meet the future portrayed, or afraid of the changes that lie ahead.

The capacity for increased insight, today, occurs because of the accelerated movement between dimensions of consciousness. This brings knowings of the higher self or soul into the sphere of conscious mental activity in increasing amounts. This phenomenon, a gift of the time we are in, asks of those who are experiencing intuitive openings to seek an inner way of validating and becoming comfortable with these through stabilizing one's awareness in the higher vibrations of light. In this way the higher elements of knowledge and intuition will continue to have clear access to the conscious self, and the conscious self will gain a greater measure of certainty about its new perceptions and insights.
