Asphalt paving refers to the laying out of asphalt concrete in thin, smooth layers on the Portland concrete of old roadways, driveways, and airport fields. The process of asphalt paving is for the purpose of correcting, improving, and/or protecting damaged or worn concrete surfaces, much like applying a "band-aid" to a sore.

Asphalt paving uses asphalt concrete, which is essentially the mixture of asphalt with a binder (or adhesive) and mineral aggregates to ensure solidity and strength. Asphalt concrete can be prepared in a number of different ways:

Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HMAC): Asphalt is heated to reduce stickiness and moisture in the mineral aggregates.

** Think: coagulating blood through heat to seal the wound.

Warm Mix Asphalt Concrete (WMA or WAM): Zeolites, waxes, or asphalt emulsions are added to allow lower laying that results in less fossil-fuel consumption.

** Think: applying sunscreen lotion to keep out the bad elements.

Cold Mix Asphalt Concrete: emulsifying water and soap into the asphalt concrete. This reduces stickiness and makes the material easier to manipulate and compact.

** Think: adding cool water to clay to easily mold works of art.

Cut-back Asphalt Concrete: binder is dissolved in kerosene or other forms of lighter petroleum. This reduces stickiness and makes the material easier to manipulate and compact.

** Think: pouring water into paint to make it more easily spreadable.

Asphalt paving, just like anything else, has its good points and its bad points, depending on how and where it's used.

Pros of Asphalt Paving:

No cracking in winter Easy snow removal Coloring and pattern-stamping, which is harder with concrete Can be re-laid, whereas concrete cannot Less expensive than concrete, which explains why asphalt concrete is usually used as the great fixer-upper.

Cons of Asphalt Paving:

The main concern with asphalt paving is that it requires constant resealing for long-lasting effectiveness, so maintenance is strongly advised and expected.

In the end, asphalt paving is more economical and provides wider flexibility in use than concrete. This resolution to surface wear-and-tear provides greater allowances and is therefore preferable in the long-run. <bio>Find more Asphalt resources at http://www.Asphalt-Paving.info, and other great topics here http://www.information-checkstop.info. </bio>

Want a beautiful back yard patio without spending too much? Well here are some tips that will let you build a patio while staying within your budget.

1. Patios can be beautiful no matter what you use to build them. If you really like the look of stone, there are a couple of things you can do. It's fairly easy to learn how to build a patio that looks like stone, but much easier on the wallet.

Use broken pieces of paving stones. Place them together like a mosaic on your patio area. You can then spray paint them different colors that are neutral and natural like stone. This works really well.

2. To save even more money, check your local garden supply stores for paving stones after summer. Spring and Summer are usually the busiest garden supply buying times of the year. After Summer, everything gets marked down. So, this is your chance to sneak in and get paving stones and other garden supply items at a discounted price.

3. If you're going to have a patio poured, look for times when cement companies are not as busy as normal. Again, after Summer and Spring, business dies down so you can pick up better deals.

Winter may not be when you think of building your patio, but it's a great time to get discounts from cement companies. Or, learn how to build a patio yourself using bagged concrete.

4. Learn how to build a patio using low grade concrete. This is much cheaper than some of the higher grades, and can be every bit as beautiful. This will be even cheaper if you do it yourself.

There are other ways to build a patio and make it look great you can check them out at http://www.buildapatio.net for easy instructions and advice. <bio>Jessica S shares more tips and advice on patios at http://www.buildapatio.net Want a garden?
There is no denying the fact that pavers can definitely enhance the beauty of any building, be it a home or an office building. Pavers really are a good way to make any drab building or house more interesting.

Good Placement for Your Pavers

Pavers can be placed in a lot of strategic places to make an edifice more enchanting. For one, there are pavers that look like stones, which can be placed in gardens. This will definitely add spice to the plants and flowers planted in your garden. You can arrange them on the edges of your walkway to keep the plants in check, or you can place them in one area (under a big tree, for example) and place quaint chairs on it for a good relaxing space. These stone pavers will definitely give any garden a natural feel.

Concrete pavers, on the other hand, can be your driveway. This will give your driveway a smoother surface. Also, it will be easier to clean up.

There are also landscape pavers that are a very good idea if you want to make a little walkway to your door or to your pool area. You can plant little flowers along the edges, and when they all bloom, you walkway will surely be a delight to see.

Benefits of Pavers

Having pavers will give you a lot of benefits. For one, it minimizes soil erosion, thereby, help in preserving your landscape. When we experience heavy rains, it is natural that we see the soil erode. With good pavers, it will control that. Another benefit is the most obvious one of all. As stated above, your choice of pavers can enhance your surroundings.

Choosing Your Pavers

There are a lot to take into consideration when you choose your pavers. The most important of all is the price. There are different prices for different kinds of pavers, of course. Cement pavers are cheaper because they are more commonly used. Bricks as well as stone pavers are more expensive, with stone pavers the costlier of the two.

You also have to take into consideration the installation costs of your pavers. If you are a very meticulous person, then you can do it yourself. But if you are sloppy in things like this, then get professional help.

Do-It-Yourself Paving

It really is not difficult to lay your pavers yourself. With the aid of the Internet, you can research about the many pavers out there as well as techniques on how to lay them down properly.

First of all, before you lay your pavers, you have to have a good layout. It is not just about laying them on whatever surface that needs to have pavers because you have to have a plan. Make a drawing of what you want it to look like and incorporate in it the pattern you want.

Secondly, you have to dig up the area where you will lay down your pavers and fill them up with gravel or crushed stones. This will serves as the base for your pavers. Make sure though that it is slightly sloped so as to allow water to drain. Then, you have to secure this by utilizing restraints like plastic or aluminum restraints. This will hold everything in place to minimize erosion.

After you have put in your restraints, then it is time to pour the sand to even out the space before you lay your pavers down. Then, following your pattern, lay your pavers down gently so as to avoid cracking them. Make sure that you have laid them evenly onto the surface of the sand. You can use plate compactor for such activity.

Finally, make use of a sealer to keep everything in place. This will also help preserve the integrity of your pavers. <bio>Robert Winster is a respected paving contractor.
The other day I was riding and found myself in a road paving project area. This was a project on a 4-lane road with 1/2 of the two lanes on my side paved... and the other 1/2 getting prepared for paving to continue. The problem is that the 1/2 that was paved was the left lane and this caused a height difference andquot;ridgeandquot; of approximately 1 - 2 inches of asphalt between the two lanes (of course I was in the right andquot;low-sideandquot; lane).

This wouldn't have been a problem if I could have stayed in the lane I was in... but once into the paving area all cars had to merge from the right to the left lane. Speeds on this road were about 40 miles per hour and on a normal motorcycle this would have been scary enough! On a chopper (let alone a wide rear tire) it was one of the scariest things I have had to do. In the moment before the transition I tried to slow down as much as I could in the andquot;bumper to bumperandquot; traffic, gripped the handlebars firmly, and then once there was an opening in the traffic to move over I tried to make the andquot;cutandquot; at as sharp of an angle as was possible.

Let me just say that andquot;I made itandquot; but it was really an unstable situation for a few seconds. It made me remember why Driver Education schools teach you that andquot;if your tire goes off the road... stay off the road and slow way down... and then sharply turn back on when there is a safe margin to do soandquot; and that is in a 4-wheel CAR!

I think that was the closest I have come to andquot;going downandquot; on a bike in over 20 years... so, I am writing this down so I don't forget. When you have to cross over and onto a ridge that is running parallel to your path of travel:

Slow down as much as possible (I didn't do this enough). Get a large safety margin between other traffic (Wait for a large opening). Get a firm grip on the handlebars. Try to cross-over the ridge at a strong angle (don't try to ease up on the ridge). I didn't do any of these things very well and it almost ended in a crash. For me, my biggest mistake was #1... so next time I am faced with this I will be sure to slow down much more and get a better angle on the ridge.

Ride safe!
Building an outdoor area onto your home can be an expensive proposition. Whether you are thinking about putting in a patio or an outdoor kitchen, the material will usually be quite expensive and the labor it takes to build it even more so. Wood decks and the like are also permanent structures, so those who decide that they do not like how the project turned out are simply stuck with the results. In addition, those who are renting are not allowed to add these structures to the property.

One way in which more and more people are skirting the problems posed by traditional outdoor extensions is by creating them using what are called paving stones or pavers. When you are creating and building your deck, any type of mistake will lead to considerable added expense. A missed cut in the wood, or a misjudged joint, will result not only in more time taken to correct the problem, but also in the added cost of the wasted materials. With pavers, the cost of mistakes is greatly reduced. In addition, the mistakes themselves are reduced as they are easier to work with that wood is.

Many people who add additions to their homes do so without first considering their neighbors. In many modern neighborhoods, there are strict rules governing what can be added to the home. These regulations include the size of the addition, the foundation requirements, and in some cases even the material to be used are regulated. Ignorance of these rules might mean that the entire project is a waste in the case of a neighbor complaint and the resulting investigation finding that you did not build according to code. So make sure to check your local bylaws for just what you are allowed to do. The good news for those who use pavers is that they are permitted by most building codes. If you are building a wood deck, make sure that there is no possibility of runoff or standing water that will rot the material or cause disfigurment. Again, pavers negate this risk as they are not biodegradable.

A lot of the time upon completion of a project, the owner of the house realizes that something just does not fit right. The deck is not showing off the landscaping to the best effect, or worse is in the way of the natural expansion of the outside decor. A deck that is built and feels cramped is very counter productive, as decks are added to give a little bit of extra space to a home. Pavers address both of these issues. Paving stones can be moved around in order to expand or contract the deck area, and to increase th eview ofa lawn and garden.

For those who rent, check with the landlord before attempting any improvements. You might want to keep in mind that any additions you make will in the end only benefit the owner, so expansion should be minimal. Most landlords are okay with the use of paving stones, though, as they can be easily moved when a current tenant vacates. Also, if the tenant wishes, he can take the material with him to the new residence! <bio>Peter J.
A patio can be a wonderful place to relax during the warm days of spring, summer and autumn; or all year if you live in warmer climes. At times when the lawn may be too wet or even muddy, the solid floor of a patio means you can sit outside even after heavy rain and make the most of the fresh air, and visual pleasure of your garden. You can even turn your patio into a patio garden to make it more interesting.

You can turn the plainest of patios into a patio garden with the good use of containers or outdoor planters. If you are starting from nothing, and designing and building (or having designed and built) a completely new patio, then it is worth giving the garden aspect of the patio some forethought.

The reason for the pre-planning is that you have an opportunity to create something very special with little extra expense beyond the foundation work and the patio floor. Here are just a few thoughts to build in at the design stage, so your patio garden can be more than just a flat area of paving slabs.

Colour Scheme for the Patio

When planning a new patio it is best to consider the colour scheme beyond just the colour of the paving slabs. If you want a patio garden, then you will need containers to grow plants in. Try to be sure that you can obtain containers or planters which blend well with the colour of the slabs. For example, light brown paving slabs above may look very nice, but are not so easy to blend in naturally with surroundings, or find complementary planters for.

Natural grey stone, on the other hand, is much easier to find suitable planters for, and can have a much more natural appearance in the garden.

That is not to say paving slabs other than grey cannot be used, but just bear in mind the rest of the decor you will need to fit in to make your patio garden attractive.

Consider Height

As with many aspects of garden design, height is important when planning a patio garden. This can be achieved in a number of ways, which can all be used at the same time. Here are some examples:

1. Consider having a wall around the patio, on which you can put a few containers. On a patio or terrace, columns and balusters can be very attractive, and add a distinctive style.

2. Consider having a covered or partly covered patio. That gives you the opportunity to not only provide shade and cover, but allow for trellis on one side. That way you can grow climbing plants on the patio which add that all important height to the patio garden.

3. Choose some high containers that will immediately contrast with your smaller containers.

4. Choose some tall growing plants and container suitable shrubs, to contrast with the low growing and trailing plants.

Consider Your View and Adjacent Garden

It is best not to design the patio in isolation, but consider it in conjunction with the view you would most like to see. This means that the positioning is especially important, as are the garden design considerations in the surrounding garden.

For example, if you want sweet smelling plants to fill your senses on a warm evening, you can plant them next to the patio. Or, if you want a private area in which to sit, some taller shrubs outside the patio in that area may provide you with just that.

By using a combination of the above features, you can develop a patio garden that will be a pleasing and impressive feature of your garden overall, and also be a great place to relax on those balmy sunny days. Try to visualize it in full before starting work on construction, and your garden patio could end up as your dream garden patio. <bio>This patio garden http://www.gardens-and-decor.com article was written by Roy Thomsitt, owner author of the gardens and decor web site. </bio>

But there are many varieties available, and which kind you choose depends mostly on what your aesthetic goals are.

Bricklaying, or masonry, is enjoyed by many people as a relaxing hobby -- Winston Churchill was an enthusiast -- though of course it is more commonly used for its practical applications. Brick walls don't need to be painted or weatherproofed, and they provide good insulation. They look sturdy and beautiful, too.

Building bricks have holes in them to reduce weight and save on materials. andquot;Face bricksandquot; are the more familiar bricks, the solid ones that are used when the entire brick will be visible. There are also paving stones, or andquot;pavers, andquot; which are used for decorative purposes such as patios and sidewalks. Firebricks are specially made heat-resistant items to be used in fireplaces and other heat-intensive places.

Another style of brick is the cinderblock. It's not nearly as nice to look at as the standard red brick, but being larger, it's useful for building particularly large walls, as not as many bricks are required. Cinderblocks can be glazed or burnished, too, in order to make the wall look more appealing.

If you're planning a brick-laying project with the standard red bricks, plan on about five bricks per square foot if it's a paving project, or seven per square foot for walls. A pallet of bricks has 516 of them. Buy a few extra bricks to allow for mistakes, particularly if you'll be cutting any in half and are not experienced at it. Cutting bricks is tricky business -- always wear protective goggles! -- and even pros ruin one now and then. <bio>http://www.brickchoice.com is packed with information on facing bricks and faux bricks </bio>

A slip, trip or a fall is a very common accident and can happen to anyone anywhere. Whether it occurs from falling down the stairs at home or tripping over some uneven pavement slabs you may be entitled to claim for compensation.

When involved in a slip, trip or fall our natural reaction is to get up as quickly as possible from this highly embarrassing situation and keep walking with our heads down deeply hoping that no one else witnessed what just happened, sound familiar? We've all most likely done this at some point in our lives but what we never do is stop and assess the situation; why did you fall? This is the one question that you should be thinking as in most slip, trip or fall scenarios you are often not to blame. Some of the main reasons that people end up slipping, tripping or falling in a public place is due to aspects such as uneven paving, wet floor surfaces without the appropriate warning signs and obstructions left on the floor. In all of these situations you will be unaware that there is a potential problem so if you slip, trip or fall in a public place due to aspects such as those previously mentioned the fault of your accident lies with the person responsible for the flooring.

If it happened due to uneven paving then your local council is responsible. If it happened due to an obstruction left in an aisle of a shop then the shop owner is responsible. If your accident happened due to a wet floor with no warning sign in a public building then again the owner of said building is responsible.

The fact that in most cases you are not at fault for a slip, trip or fall accident in a public place means that however embarrassed you are about the situation you should stay at the scene and examine why the accident happened. Speak to witnesses who may have seen what happened and if possible take pictures of the scene; all of these will be vital if you are hoping to make a claim for compensation.

It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure that the flooring of a building or paving area is in a safe condition. Any uneven slabs should be aligned correctly and replaced if necessary. If any spills occur they should be cleaned up immediately and the correct warning signs should be put in place.

If you have suffered a slip, trip or fall accident in the last three years that was caused through no fault of your own then you could be entitled to make a claim for compensation. As previously mentioned if you are hoping to make a claim for compensation you should collect as much evidence from the scene as you can and also go and see your doctor. This may sound a bit excessive but having a record of any treatment that you may receive is another way of securing your compensation claim.

For more information about making a claim for compensation following a slip, trip or fall accident then contact a team of solicitors today who will be able to handle your claim from start to finish.<bio>Helen is the web master of Accident Consult, who are specialists in all aspects of making a claim for Compensation following a Slip, Trip or Fall accident.</bio>

Having a garden shed can be a nice addition to your backyard and garden. It can act as a storage area and perhaps even a working area for the garden. You are probably riled up about getting your shed in place so you can begin to take advantage of it. But before you can worry about the shed, it is vital you focus your attention on building a solid garden shed base.

It is absolutely vital you construct a firm and stable base for the shed. Every shed requires a level base of some sort. While you can pay someone to construct one for you, you can also get the job done yourself with a little bit of knowledge and detailed instructions of how to complete the job.

Prior to building your shed base, there are a few things you want to take into consideration. First, do not place the base too close to walls or fences in case the shed has an overhanging roof. Next, cut any branches that may be in the way if you are to purchase a large shed. Lastly, allow for sufficient access to the outside walls for regular treatments.

Once you have taken these precautions, it is time to determine which method you will use to construct your garden shed base. There really are three methods you have to choose from; concrete, paving slab and timber bearers. While each is different in its own way, there are benefits and downsides to each.

Regardless of the method, the first step is to always mark your area. This allows you to clear any crops you may have. You can mark the area with string and pegs so you know exactly where it is going. It can also allow you to visually picture where and how the garden shed will look in the place you have it.

The first method we will go into detail about is the concrete base method. This is typically recommended for large sheds and log cabins. After you have marked your area, you will excavate the ground approximately 6 inches deep. From there, you will lay 3 inches of scalping or brick rubble that will act as sound foundation. Once laying this, you can remove the pegs and string.

The next step is to cut and fit four timber rails to act as a frame for the concrete that will set on top of the foundation. Finally, it is time to lay the concrete. As with the foundation, you will lay approximately 3 inches of concrete to fill the entire 6 inches you dug up. You have your option of either purchasing bags of dry mixed concrete and adding water gradually or making a mixture of ballast, cement and water yourself.

It is important you lay the concrete evenly, spreading it to all areas of the outline. Then, cover the concrete with sheets or a tarp to allow it to dry naturally. If the weather is dry and warm, spray it with water lightly so it does not dry too quickly.

The next method you can use to build a garden shed base is a paving slab. For this method you will excavate the ground 2.5 inches deep and lay a mixture of one part cement and eight parts building sand 1.5 inches deep.

After leveling this mixture, you can then begin to lay paving slabs starting from a corner. You will want to tap the slabs down with a rubber mallet to ensure the top of the slabs is higher than the surrounding ground.

The last method you can use to construct a base for your garden shed is the timber bearers method. For this method, you will excavate the ground 2 inches deep and lay 1.5 inches of gravel or soil. You will equally space concrete or timber bearers approximately 16 to 24 inches apart. If it is necessary, you can use a rubber mallet to tap the timber bearers down.

How much supplies you need for each method will all depend on the size of your shed. It is vital you have a plan drawn up for how you will construct the garden shed base, how big the base will be, and what kind of shed you are going to purchase. From there, simply follow the instructions for one of these three methods and you will be on your way.<bio>Sara Lungley wrote the Article 'Methods for Building a Garden Shed Base' and recommends you visit http://www.a1articles.com/article_153049_27.html for more information on garden sheds.</bio>

If you are thinking of creating a patio, courtyard or path within your garden, then I have some helpful information for you.

Where to place a path

Have a good look at your garden, even if you are just viewing from the comfort of your kitchen, this may give you an idea of where paths should be placed. Viewing a curved pathway, particularly one that wraps behind a border will entice the viewer to exit the house and follow the path to discover what lies at its end. You may not end up with a crock of gold at the end of the path but a restful seating area will be a good consolation, and quite a nice focal point. Hardwearing continuous paths can be created from gravel, paving brick, pavers or setts (concrete or natural stone, with granite setts being particularly strong in texture and colour). Gravel paths are the most economical to install. However, I would never recommend laying them within lawns as disturbed gravel may enter the lawn and end up breaking windows or worse, if hit by lawn mower blades.

Design tips and hints

I often recommend paving brick for creating both straight and curving garden paths, provided you lay it with clear design rules in mind. Do you have a short garden, which you wish would appear longer? This can be achieved by creating a path running right down the garden laid in a "running bond" pattern. Brick laid in this style runs lengthways in the direction the path runs whilst its joints are staggered for strength. Maybe you have a garden that is narrow causing you to wish it would appear wider; again an optical illusion design trick can be called into play. This time lay the brick in a style known a "stretcher bond", which has a widening effect. To produce this effect the brick must be laid lengthways across the width of the path in staggered rows.

Both of the optical illusions created by the use of "running bond" or "stretcher bond", follow a similar rule to one used in fashion, where vertical lines appear to lengthen or slim whereas horizontal lines appear to widen or expand (who says you learn nothing by reading the fashion magazines).

If you wish to create a path that will not appear prominent and dominate a smaller garden, I would suggest you install a stepping stone path. This will look quite at home on the compacted lawn beneath the washing line. Stepping stones are laid flush with, or just below lawn level to allow the mower to pass over unimpeded.

A site for your patio

The patio is an extension you can add to your home without planning permission; it is your roofless dining area or room outside. We use patios primarily as sitting, sunning and entertaining zones. Your patio should be used as our own personal courtyard linked to our house. With these uses in mind, seek out an area that receives direct sun from the south, the west or a combination of both. Southerly facing patios offer warmth from twelve o'clock onwards, ideal for those of you who wish to tan au-natural. A paved area with a westerly aspect will allow you to enjoy evening sun whilst reflecting on the day, with or without a glass of wine. Sun alone is not enough to make your patio experience a pleasant one; you must also seek out an area that is a refuge from winds or else provide artificial shelter. I come across many fine-looking patios in full sun that I find hard to spend more than a few minutes on, due mostly to the wind chill factor.

Selection of materials and laying patterns

The selection of a paving material comes down to your personal taste and what your budget will allow. However be guided by the following pointers, firstly you must realise that the patio often eases the transition from house to garden. So if you select economical concrete or cement patio slabs, ensure they have an appealing colour and texture similar to natural stone. The addition of bands / borders of natural granite setts or cobble stones, whilst linking with the surrounding environment can be used to enrich concrete flags. Indian sandstone flags whilst slightly more expensive than their concrete counterparts offer a natural stone surface which is full of visual and tactile charm. The laying style of paving materials will dictate how you feel whilst seated on your patio. If paving is laid in a diagonal pattern, the sense of movement is minimised which ensures a more restful spell in the room outside. To increase the sense of restfulness on a patio created from brick I suggest using a laying style known as "Basketweave" or alternatively the older "Flemish pattern" style, these styles minimise movement that is normally reserved for paths.

Children, the elderly and the non slip patio

The selection of a non-slip material is vitally important especially where young children or the elderly are concerned, as a painful fall can really affect these patio users. Superior non-slip paving materials are those with an exposed aggregate or a sandstone finish. Finally, when deciding on the size of a paved area to create, sit back and ask yourself how many occupants are in your house. Use this rule of thumb; create a minimum of four metres squared of paved surface per patio user. Do not forget to allow for the friends factor, unless you are a "Billy-no-mates". If you are without friends, you will not remain that way for long once you create your sun-drenched patio or room outside. <bio>James Kilkelly runs a professional garden design service in Galway, Ireland.
Property owners, landlords and councils have a responsibility to ensure that their premises are safe. This means they have to ensure paving isn't loose, spills are cleaned up and adequate lighting is in place as well as using reasonable care to keep their property safe. Sadly responsible parties don't always take the responsibility that they should.

Pretty much all of us have slipped or tripped while we have been out at the shops, in work or walking on the pavement etc. In some cases these slip or trip accidents are caused by not looking where you are going but if you have been injured in a slip/trip accident through the fault of someone else's negligence then you could have a chance to make a claim for compensation.

It is the duty of property owners to make sure that their building is free from obstructions or spillages that could lead to you having a slip, trip or fall accident. Due to this the floor in a workplace must be suitable for the type of work activity that will be taking place on it. Where a floor can't be kept dry people should be able to walk on it without the fear of a slip; so how can this happen? Simple you need to ensure that the flooring that is present in your property has a certain degree of roughness to it, this is important as it will provide a grip so that even if the floor is wet you will still have an aspect of safety to protect you.

The flooring in a public building should also be cleaned correctly to ensure that it does not become slippery and that it keeps its slip resistance properties. Your flooring should also be fitted correctly and any potential hazards should be removed.

It doesn't matter how old or new your flooring is, whatever its age all flooring should be maintained so that it is keep in a good condition. Maintenance of flooring includes making sure that any trip hazards, such as holes, uneven surfaces and curled up carpet edges are taken care of. If you do have uneven flooring that can't be avoided, such as ramps and raised platforms then these should be clearly highlighted and signposted.

Floors are just one aspect that can cause you to have a slip, trip or fall accident. Another common cause of slip, trips and falls are uneven pavements. If a pavement slab comes loose and is sticking up, causing the possibility of tripping then it is up to the local council to make sure that this paving slab is fixed in a timely manner before any injury is caused.

One last cause of slip, trip and fall accidents are stair cases. Stair cases, both internal and external ones should have high visibility and non-slip square nosing on the step edges. They should also be provided with a suitable handrail and the steps should be correctly proportioned, meaning they are equal in height and width.

If you have suffered a slip, trip or fall accident in the last three years due to the negligence of another person then you could be entitled to make a claim for compensation.
Premiering in April 1987, Married With Children became a staple of the growing Fox Network's original prime time programming, paving the way for further original creations such as The Simpsons. The total opposite of what a TV family should be, the original working title for the show was Not The Cosbys (a reference to the perfect family atmosphere of the popular 80's sitcom The Cosby Show). Paving the way for ABC's Roseanne, Married With Children more than lived up to its working title, chronicling the pathetic life of a Chicago shoe salesman and his equally dysfunctional family...

Married With Children follows the exploits of the Bundy family, a dysfunctional trailer-park trash family living in American suburbia. The family is headed by Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill), a shoe salesman who's lewd, crude, sarcastic, and completely dissatisfied with his life as a loser. Al's wife Peg (Katey Sagal) spends her days watching Oprah and spending what little money Al brings home (she's also Al's greatest source of annoyance). Al and Peg's lives are complicated by their children, Kelly (Christina Applegate), a beautiful yet stupid teenager, and Bud (David Faustino), a sex-starved adolescent. With neighbors Steve (David Garrison), Marcy (Amanda Bearse), and Jefferson (Ted McGinley) dropping in on a regular basis, Al's dreams of a normal family life or a spare moment to relax are continually interrupted by the tortuous reality of his mediocre existence...

The Married With Children DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the series pilot in which Peg and Al, worried because they have no friends of their own, meet the new neighbors, Steve and Marcy Rhoades. Steve and Marcy have the perfect marriage, but the bad influences of the Bundys conspire to turn them against each other... Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Whose Room is It Anyway?" in which Steve and Marcy decide to add a new room onto their house while Peg and Al pit the couple against each other in order to serve their own selfish interests, and "Peggy Sue Got Work" in which Al's refusal to buy Peg the VCR she wants prompts her to get a job in a local department store...

Below is a list of episodes included on the Married With Children (Season 1) DVD:

Episode 1 (Pilot) Air Date: 04-05-1987 Episode 2 (Thinnergy) Air Date: 04-12-1987 Episode 3 (But I Didn't Shoot the Deputy) Air Date: 04-19-1987 Episode 4 (Whose Room is it Anyway?)
If you have a look around your yard, you'll definitely notice, something need to be changed there. Maybe you don't know where and how to start but you don't feel good about it. Changing yard view is not like making sky rocket or something, only with few landscape supplies, we can make a big difference. Sometimes we don't need to purchase anything by make supplies out of your yard or garage junks creatively.

One of the most popular and wide useful landscape supplies is edging beside rocks and lawn. Edging plays frame role in backyard or garden (fence). In fact you can frame (fence) your whole yard border around or just frame small part of it (garden beds). Even you can enclose your big tree with short wooden edging. Isn't sound eye catching?
Also there is lot of different types of landscape edging materials which create alternatives and lot of choices for your tact and taste. For instance, you can make a garden bed of short beautiful outdoor Boonsai and edge it with short 20 inch bamboo, if you are a Zen style fan.

Different Types Of Edging:

• Bricks

• Wrought Iron

• Rock and Stone

• Precast Concrete

• Timbers

• Plastic

• Bamboo

• Steel

• Aluminium

One of the most commonly used landscape supplies are pavers. Pavers significantly can change yard view by surrounding the backyard or Patio. Pavers commonly used for patios. Patio is a Spanish style that is outdoor balcony or verandah or paved area between residence and garden. There different type of Pavers, concrete, stones, sand, asphalt, textures. But popular and commercial one is concrete in random colors. The fancy one is stone type which is expensive for installing. Concrete paving can use for patio, pool deck and walkways. Sand paving is a stone paved sub-base with layer of sand.

What do you think about raised garden bed? With a raised garden bed you need to enhance more soil to raise the bed and is good to improve water drainage for your plants. You won't have to put up with back pain and sore knees as you will no longer have to bend down. Landscape supplies edging which we earlier talked about it, can be used to surround raised garden bed and make it look eye catching. Beds can be built in any shape, size and color you desire. Rectangle, triangle, square, chaotic or whatever you want it be. Bed color actually is the edging material color. So by shaping and edging, you will be able to create an amazing, unique design.

You may want to create pathways to joint two parts of your garden. The best thing to use is stepping stones. Stepping stones can be found in different shapes as square and round in solid color or with a design on them. You may want to order mold shaped like cobblestones and bricks that you can fill with concrete to make your own steppers. You can try many shape and styles to make suit of your needs and you can access these supplies in any retail landscape supplies store or purchase online.

Search through landscape design ideas websites to help you getting an idea for your own yard. Stop by your local hardware store and browse around. Have a look at landscape supplies for inspiration. Take a walk around your neighborhood and look for ideas for your own yard. But remember creativity makes huge difference.<bio>If you need more tips and information about landscape supplies, you may want to have a look at my landscaping website.</bio>

There's nothing quite as versatile as a deck. You can add out door living space adjacent to any floor of your house, over slopes and ravines, nestled in the trees, or right at ground level. A deck can make the most of views, summer breezes and winter sunshine. Like paving decks and boardwalks form the floors of outdoor rooms and passageways. But unlike paving, decks give you the option of building above ground and grading is rarely necessary.

Finding Location

Access, comfort and privacy are all important factors in deck design. If you have trouble getting to your deck, you'll rarely use it. Your decks destination, study the best ways to access it. A deck can be a natural extension of the house. sliding glass doors left open to the deck will extend the indoor space to the outside. If you use a grill on your deck, and entry close to the kitchen makes the whole process easier. In addition to having good access, you should feel comfortable on your deck.

If you feel that you are on display to the neighbourhood of the location of the deck is too hot or cold, you won't enjoy it much. If another space in the landscape isn't optimal for easy deck access, you may need new planting for increase privacy or shade. A wall of latticework or a deck umbrella can make all the difference and shield you both from view and the hot sun. Double check your concept diagram for the optimum location and make any planting or other adjustments necessary to make your deck a comfortable place.

Consider how you will use your deck. Make sure the shape and size shown on your master plan meets your needs. A small, cozy deck can be perfect for an intimate spot just off the master bedroom, a place for outdoor entertaining may require more room. Both the size and the location of the deck should reflect your lifestyle so you'll use the deck to its fullest.

Features and costs

Storage is a valuable feature. A deck beside a kitchen garden may include storage for garden tools and harvest baskets, a deck that doubles as a landing for the front or back door is an ideal spot for hooks and shelves. Built-in benches and planters make a deck more useful and result in a few less things to store a shed.

Think about what kind of handy features you can add to increase the use and enjoyment of your deck even further. You can plant for added features such as lighting, overhead fans, exterior outlets, and outdoor cook tops and sinks in the beginning of the process, even if they are added later. Its often a good idea to add a focal point in the yard that aligns with the main view from the deck, mark this spot on your master plan. Strategically placed decorative benches, sundials, or bird feeders enhance the view. A view of a fountain or other water feature can also be a lovely addition to a relaxing afternoon on the deck.

Generally decks are one of the most affordable hardscape options. Redwood, cedar and pressure treated pine are usual materials, check with local suppliers to see which is the best value in your region. You can build a deck yourself or hire a carpenter to do the work for you. It may pay to have a carpenter handle more elaborate decks, but if it's a straightforward design, there's a good chance you can do it your self<bio>Alexie is a experienced landscaper and would to share landscaping tips,Landscape ideas and guides on how to make your front yards and backyards beautiful and putting your ideas into plan.To Learn more about Landscaping ideas visit landscapingway.com and read our articles about landscaping.</bio>

When you find out that you need cash in a hurry, because you don't have enough in the bank to cover your checks - when you thought you did, you need it now. Payday loans are about the fastest way to get the cash you need. Here is how you can get your cash in a flash.

Payday loans are a very convenient way to get your cash quickly. The nice thing is that the money is deposited right into your checking account. This means that if you accidentally wrote one check too many, that you can have it covered when you need the cash to be there.

Payday loans can be applied for easily by going online. If this is the first time that you have ever applied, you can probably get up to $400 with some payday loan lenders. After you have proven that you will pay, the amount you can get increases, with a maximum being around $1,500.

Payday loans require that you have both a job and a checking account. One thing they will not be checking, though, is your credit score. Anyone can get a payday loan. You will need to have been at the same place of employment for at least six months, though some may require as few as two months. The same is true for your checking account.

When you apply, you will need to provide the lender with your account information so they can deposit it directly, and take it out when it is due. To do this, you will either leave them a postdated check or sign an authorization for it. You will need to pay it in full on your next paycheck for most payday loan lenders. Some are now paving the way, though, for multiple payments to be made without further penalties over several paychecks.

You will have to show some evidence of employment, and leave a name and number of someone that they can contact as verification. You also may need to provide them with some pay stubs proving that you make more than $1,500 per month. Usually, you fax this information to them - requiring you to go to a fax machine. A no fax loan simply means you do not fax them anything - which takes them longer to verify the same information.

Once you have supplied the necessary information, which usually does not take more than about 10 minutes, your loan will be put into your account. Many lenders will do this in an hour - or even less. This means it is quick enough to keep that check from bouncing.

Be sure to look at several lenders of payday loans for terms and interest rates. The interest rate can range anywhere from 15% all the way up to 30%. They also have a way to check to see if you have more than one loan out at a time, so make sure you can pay on time. You will have the option to roll it over to the next paycheck =96 but it is the same as if you took out another loan. You will have to pay the interest on the first loan on the day it is due, and then the balance plus new interest on your next payday. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

Have you seen this scene: A man is asked by someone to jump for ten times, crawl on the floor then roll over like a dog? Some have this in mind as the picture of hypnosis. Actually- it is not the truth. What is hypnosis then?

Hypnosis is, in fact, a natural state of heightened awareness, focused attention and, often, deep relaxation. This experience is called "the alpha state". In the "alpha state" our brain wave frequency is slower than when awake, but faster than when we're asleep. According to different academic studies, the old misconceptions are now eradicated and the fact that all forms of hypnosis are really self-hypnosis is now paving the way to deeper understanding.

For others, hypnosis is the exit to stress because it is a way of relaxation. According to experts, hypnosis depends on how the recipient accepts it- whether deep or shallow it depends on him or her.

Nowadays, hypnosis has brought wonders to a lot of people all over the world and it has been the source of all that could be relied on as solutions. Many who were able to accept hypnosis as a deep process were able to see for themselves the goodness behind it and the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hypnosis has solved problems involving one's inner sense like: addiction especially today's illegal substance addiction; it could also help out with one's elf-acceptance and acceptance of others too. If your fears, lack of confidence, low motivation, success orientation are really bothering you, hypnosis may let you calm the storm inside you.

The skills that may have been not that active in you because of some reasons may be polished again through this method. So, if you think that you need help with regards to your leadership, learning skills, creativity, sports performance and so forth hypnosis may just be the one you have been looking for.

Health disorders could also be addressed with the use of hypnosis. Experts have proved that the power of hypnosis reach even the solutions of various health disorders like Fibromyalgia, headaches which are common with us, insomnia, high blood pressure and others.

The misconceptions about hypnosis are now near the exit door. Recent studies are now showing how hypnosis paves the way to better living. If done with the proper purpose, this would be a great means of healing naturally inside and out. <bio>Mark Dodd is a freelance writer for the Hypnotic Times.
The car Thunderbird had been around for many years. But sadly in the year 2005, Ford decided to stop manufacturing these vehicles. Coincidentally it was also just around the time of the vehicle's fiftieth anniversary.

The 2005 model is a little different from the original Thunderbird that was manufactured fifty years ago. The 2005 Thunderbird is quite a luxurious convertible. It has three trims for all budgets, ranging from the deluxe package to the fiftieth anniversary package. The 2005 model is equipped with a 3.9 liters,V8 and 280 horsepower engine.

This last Thunderbird still holds its heritage of being a roadster with perennial style. This fact alone has appealed to many drivers over the years. However, within the last fifty years more options have been made available for the interior of the car. This appealed to many people and thus increased the market.

The 2005 model offers features such as air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls, leather wrapped steering wheel that have radio controls mounted on it, and much much more. The outside of the car consists of features like power folding soft top heated rear window or a removable hardtop with porthole windows.

Safety and security is a priority as well as luxury, just as in any of the Ford vehicles. The 2005 Thunderbird is a first for Ford; it is their first vehicle to have front, side, and a combination of head-and-chest side airbags. Protection from all sides if it will be needed. Ford is paving a new way of how we look at vehicle safety.

To keep it short, there are many new features that make the 2005 Thunderbird unique, but still have the style that everyone fell in love with fifty years ago. Go and check it out and judge for yourself, you'll be quite surprised at what it has to offer. <bio>Rich Hudson is a successful freelance author that writes regularly for http://www.kids-games-n-crafts.com/ .
It can be fun when it comes to designing and building your very own landscape garden. It can give everyone a chance to show their creativity and the results at the end are usually all worth while. There are so many different things which can be done to the landscape including decking in the garden or using great features to really give the garden that extra something special.

Landscaping Your Very Own Garden

Gardening can sometimes be a tricky experience and it needs a bit of thought put into it beforehand. When you want to transform your landscape you will need to plan everything in advance in order to get the required look that you desire. There is no use just buying a lot of features and putting them together as they may not necessarily go together properly. It is all about striking that perfect balance to make the garden look great. So, if you use a certain plant, make sure that you understand the requirements that it needs in order for it to grow properly.

Landscaping Your Garden to Make the Most Out Of Open Spaces

There are people out there with quite a bit of open lawns and they could use some of it to make some great features. You could make a nice little retreat somewhere and have a bridge or trellis to separate it. Adding extra features such as shrubs, potted plants, flowers and furniture such as a bench or a hammock could really add to the effect.

You could also make crazy paving too in order to add a bit of creativity to the garden and to make use of some of the open space available. There is so much that you could do with the space, it is all down to each individual on what they decide will look the best. However, if you do add things to the space, make sure that you get the balance just right because if you overdo it, it will affect the overall look and balance.

Adding the Extra Touches When Landscaping Your Garden

If you have decided to add a patio or decking to your landscape, it is now down to adding the extra features that makes it look complete. A great way to transform things is by the use of plants, shrubs and even trees. There are so many different extras you can add to any part of the garden to achieve the overall required look. It is just a matter of searching for the things which you feel will suit the look the best. <bio>Andrew Caxton loves writing for http://www.lawn-mowers-and-garden-tractors.com .
>From a cursory survey of websites and brochures, you'll see a myriad of different types of mortgage. The mortgages explored so far are a basic overview -- you'll find any amount of types -- some combining several features and with added incentives to tempt you.

Basically, if you can imagine a mortgage, it probably exists. So, after doing your homework and boning up on mortgage terminology, how do you finally choose? Which deal is the best on the market today?

The truth is that there is no one-size-fits-all super mortgage that will be a perfect fit for everyone's financial situation. What you need to do when choosing a mortgage is work out exactly what would suit you -- and this will depend on your individual circumstances. Once you have an idea of what you're looking for, you can let the lenders and brokers find the mortgage to fit.

Below are some examples of possible life situations, with ideas for mortgages that may be suitable:

The Student

Young, single, and likely to be forever short of cash! It's unlikely you'll be able to find a large lump sum for a mortgage, and your income probably comes from part time jobs -- hardly an enticing prospect for a lender. Your best bet is to approach family for help -- a loan for the deposit and/or a guarantor mortgage (combined with proof of your responsible attitude) could help you get an early foothold on the property ladder.

Pushing 30

You're paving the way to a successful career, and perhaps thinking of moving in with a partner. However, your salary is probably relatively modest, and you may not have much money saved. Ask lenders for their first time buyer deals, including 100% mortgages, and consider a joint mortgage with a partner to boost your buying power. Cashback may be useful for covering the costs of fees and buying furniture. Those willing to take a bit of a risk could consider an interest only mortgage combined with savings and investments.

Growing Success

Perhaps you have a family or dependents now, and your career is fairly solidly established. You may want to make the most of your money by looking at flexible mortgages, or one that can be offset against your other accounts. Keep in mind your home may have accrued equity by now, which could be released by revaluing your home, and perhaps switching mortgage. If you run your own business and have some capital to invest, you might want to try a self-cert mortgage. <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the loan comparison sites http://www.selectloans.co.uk and also http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk </bio>
