Disability insurance is one of the most cost effective ways to cover your expenses if you become unable to work. Although it's also known as disability income protection or disability income insurance by the companies that issue these policies, it is still the same type of policy.

Your Disability Life Insurance Premiums

When you apply for disability life insurance, there are several factors that will influence your premium;

Occupation: The more dangerous your job is, the higher the premium will be. A construction worker will face higher premiums than dental hygienists or beauticians.

Health: If you have a medical history with sickness and operations, the disability insurance carriers will charge more for your policy. They see this as a greater risk that they will have to pay out on the policy.

Benefit Period: How long do you want your recuperation time to be? Although a longer period will be better for your healing, the longer a company has to pay out, the higher the premiums will be.

Elimination Period: This is the amount of time you are injured before a company commences to pay you. Policies have different elimination periods with retroactive periods that will reimburse you to the first day. The longer the period, the cheaper the premium.

Policy Provisions: A policy that pays total and partial disability will cost more than one that pays just for total disability.

Other Disability Life Insurance Riders

There are several more provisions that will affect the cost of your disability life insurance policy. These policies are rated on a person by person status, and explain why two people of the same age and occupation can have varying premiums. Consult your local broker to discuss your options for your disability life insurance.

How Important Is Disability Life Insurance?

How important is it for your monthly income to continue? If you cannot work and do not have disability life insurance, you will have no income from employment after any benefits expire.

Perhaps you have income from investments to cover the shortfall? If so, well and good, so long as do not start eating into the capital.

So Why Not Try To Get Disability Life Insurance?

Great question; why not try and see if you can qualify for disability life insurance? <bio>Ivon T.
Nobody likes to think about being disabled. Unfortunately when accidents strike they will quickly change your financial outlook. What disability income insurance options do you have if you find yourself disabled, temporarily or otherwise? In other words do you have a plan of action if you don't have, or plan to take, disability income insurance?

There Are 2 Types Of Disability Income Insurance Contracts:

* Non-cancellable: premiums are guaranteed level for the life of the contract unless the benefits are increased.

* Guaranteed renewable: Company reserves the right to increase the disability income insurance premiums for everybody, should the number of claims in a particular class begin to rise.

Your Disability Income Insurance Concerns:

* Occupation: The dangers of your job are a factor companies weigh to see the chances of you getting injured.

* Compensation: How much are you looking for to cover your expenses, and is it less than 70% of your present gross salary? * Medical History: Your current health and what medical history your family has, will also affect how the life disability income insurance carriers will see you.

Other factors that go into assessing your situation are your gender, age and province or state of residence.

You also have the option of riders. Residual and partial riders are available to you if your situation changes and you are returning to work in a different job and experience a loss of income. Or if you return to work as a part time employee, but in the same job.

Plan Disability Income Insurance For Potential Accidents Or Sickness

Although no one likes to talk about getting hurt or such, the benefits of a disability insurance policy greatly help during times of crisis. Investing in a policy helps strengthen your overall financial plan or at least puts a floor underneath it. Get together soon with an insurance broker and discuss how your personal situation can benefit from disability income insurance. <bio>Ivon T.
Unfortunately accidents happen. Some of these may unfortunately put you in the hospital for weeks, followed by months of rehabilitation. Or you are not able to work or leave the hospital because of a permanent injury.

Health insurance might pay for your medical expenses, but you need something like disability insurance to make your mortgage payments and pay your household expenses?

Disability Insurance Is The Answer

For most of us the answer is disability insurance, which provides income when an illness or injury makes it impossible to earn a living. Disability insurance is the policy to have, whatever your age, to continue the income you need.

What Does Disability Insurance Do For Me?

While employers often provide short term disability, few companies offer long term disability insurance unless there is a union contract. If you don't recover, or have your own disability insurance contract, you will have to use your savings to survive.

Accordingly, it is in your best interests to protect your income and earnings with a personal disability insurance policy.

How Much Disability Insurance Do You Need?

No insurance company will insure you for your full income as generally the payments are not taxable. Another consideration is: if you have group disability insurance from your employer, there may be a cap on how much you can get.

Some Additional Disability Insurance Benefits: Escalator Rider - an benefit that annually increases the amount of your income . Return-To-Work-Provision - a benefit of your disability insurance policy that pays you a portion of your disability income if you can work part time.

There are numerous other disability insurance riders which can be added, but which increase the overall cost of the insurance policy. Employer group disability insurance policies are not portable, which is the best, most simple reason to own personal disability insurance. <bio>Ivon T.
Many of us choose our jobs based on the health insurance offered by the employers; or, we at least let the health insurance play a role in whether or not we apply for and accept certain jobs. However, how many of us go beyond just asking about health insurance and asking about disability insurance, too? Probably not many of us, if any of us, ask whether or not the jobs we are considering, or even the jobs we already have, offer disability insurance.

Just like all types of insurance, disability insurance is designed to protect us. If we become sick or injured and aren't able to go to our jobs for a certain period of time, our disability insurance acts as a substitute paycheck. We can't get a paycheck for jobs we aren't working; however, when we are sick or injured, we have no other choice but to take some time off from our jobs. That's when disability insurance kicks in and provides us with some financial relief. How much disability insurance we receive =96 what percentage of our normal income =96 depends on the employer.

While disability insurance isn't something everyone is going to need at some point in their lives, it is something that the people who end up needing it wish they had. If you're job hunting, ask about disability insurance. If you already have a job, but aren't sure whether or not your employer offers disability insurance, find out.

If your employer does offer disability insurance, find out if you have been working there long enough to be eligible for it. Ask how long the disability insurance will last (some employers will cover you for a few weeks to a few months, while Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, and Hawaii are required by law to provide disability insurance for 26 weeks), and how much income you'll be eligible for should you find yourself needing the disability insurance. <bio> http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Coverage.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ Ohio Car Insurance </bio>

Although disability life insurance covers ourselves and our loved ones during good and bad times, it can be a very dry subject. We have therefore compiled a quick list to make understanding disability life insurance easier.

Disability Life Insurance Tip #1

Buy Only What You Need: Make sure you have enough coverage if you ever have to make a claim. And be sure to keep policies up to date with any salary increases you get.

Disability Life Insurance Tip #2

Increase your waiting period: The waiting period is the time you have to wait to make a claim. The longer you wait, the lower the cost of your premium.

Disability Life Insurance Tip #3

Work With The Same Company: If you need to change the company you are with, do so before your policy expires but beware of the cost. Your disability life insurance policy is a contract between the carrier and you for a specified period of time. Changes in the policy may come with penalties.

Disability Life Insurance Tip #4

Shop For Policies: With all the disability life insurance companies online, it is reasonably simple to compare premiums. Disability Life Insurance Tip #5

Compare Apples With Apples: When comparing disability life insurance policies, be careful as they have different definitions of disability for each illness. Make sure you specify the same amount of coverage for both so you can make a level comparison.

Disability Life Insurance Tip # 6

Different disability life insurance companies have different classifications for the same occupation. For example company A might rate someone who works with electricity as a higher risk than company B. So this is something you need to know.

Disability Life Insurance Tip #7

It is better to go to the well known disability life companies as they have a deeper knowledge of risk and should therefore be able to give you the best rate.

Buying Disability Life Insurance Makes Sense

Financial planning is necessary to make sure you have enough life insurance and disability life insurance to protect your income. It may not be a topic that everyone finds interesting, but if an emergency arises, you will be glad you took the time to get some good disability life insurance. <bio>Ivon T.
Pregnancy is the most crucial time period in the life of a woman. A woman's body sees several changes during this phase of her life. It is thus important for her to take utmost care of herself. Besides, chances of disabling pregnancy can never be ruled out.

Therefore care and precautions should be more sincere, especially for a working woman during pregnancy. A professional woman spends most of her day at workplace. It thus becomes more important for her to be observant about her body and also about her regular and timely check ups.

Disabling pregnancy for a working woman means that she would not be able to carry on her usual routine work in the office. So as a working person, it becomes important for you to keep a regular tab on your health and consult a good physician who can guide you through the problems.

Generally, disabilities related to pregnancy can be classified into three broad categories. The most common form of disability that is found in pregnant women is due to pregnancy itself. With pregnancy, there comes a lot of side effects. These side effects can range from nausea, indigestion, dizziness, regular vomiting to swollen legs and ankles. All these problems can be causes of temporary or what you can call as a partial disability.

The magnitude of disability affliction in this category is very less. But if you see any of these symptoms in your body, you should know what to do. You should immediately report about it to your doctor. Besides this, at the time of labor pains some form of disability might occur, if no proper medical attention is provided to the condition.

Not every woman has a normal pregnancy. If a woman tends to be negligent, chances of certain complications at the time of delivery are more. The magnitude of a complication may vary from a minor one to some aggravated serious problems. The serious problems can range from infection and bleeding in the uterus to the onset of early labor pains or even rupturing of the amniotic sac (which is the protective shell of the fetus). All these can cause short-term or long-term disability in a pregnant woman and even the offspring.

Besides this, there can be several medical conditions like diabetes, extreme fluctuations in the blood pressure with other cardiovascular disorders that might act as a disabling factor during pregnancy.

There are certain disabilities that might occur due to exposure to the various toxic substances. This will usually happen when a pregnant woman is out to her workplace. These toxic substances will not only affect you but can also harm the health of the fetus. If your doctor confirms any of these symptoms then your pregnancy can be termed as disabling.

Thus, always follow the list of do's and don'ts set by your doctor and report him every little change that you notice in this most crucial phase of your life. For a little negligence can pay very hard to you and your baby. Pregnancy is the origin of new life and perhaps the most beautiful thing on this planet.
Sometimes getting one's right is not as easy as it seems or as simple as the statute books say it is. One might face a number of roadblocks at the hands of those who for some reason find one unfit for the benefit one claims.

In such cases, the only option you have is to challenge the denial of your right. How do you do that? You can go ahead yourself and do everything yourself. There are no problems with that except one- that you don't know what all is to be done, how and exactly when. The reason is that the only case you have seen in great detail is yours and so far as the law involved is concerned, you know close to nothing. Procedural nitty-gritty, of course, is rocket science to you. Thus, everything boils down to that though you have every right to stand up yourself before the authorities, it may be like shooting one's own case right in the head. And I am sure that's the last thing you have thought of doing.

Now the question that most of the people who have to go through the ordeal of hiring a lawyer ask- can I afford? Yes, you can. I may not be in a position to say it for all those who need a lawyer, but for those with disability, lawyers are quite affordable. This is primarily because a disability lawyer is not paid when you hire him, but gets one fourth of the back payment that the Social Security Administration pays. So, if he loses your case, he loses his fee as well, which is why he would try is level best to get the decision in your favor. What you must remember is that you must hire a lawyer early in the day so that he gets enough time to prepare the case and get himself conversant with the basic facts and points of law involved. The better prepared he is, the greater your chances of winning. Moreover, if the case drags on, the money accumulates with the SSA, which means if you get it late you get a larger sum and the attorney gets a bigger bite. So, supply him with all the time and information he needs to win your case in the first instance itself. That is way you get your money early, he gets his and everyone is happy with a possible exception of the SSA. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
The idea of being sick, out of work, and inmobile real stinks, but hey, stuff happens. And that's precisely why you may want to consider purchasing disability insurance. What if an ordinary spin down the strip on a sunny day leaves you twisted up like a pretezel and being cut from the wreckage of a mangled VW Beetle? How will you support yourself and family? Do you have enough money saved to cover three or four months worth of rent, ultilities, and credit card bills? What if you are unable to work for a whole nine months, or even a year? Would you still be able to foot the bill of your monthly cost of living then?

Disability insurance is designed to replace a portion of your income should you become unable to work do to sickness or injury. Disability insurance benefits have historcially covered approximately 45% to 65% of your gross income. Although this varies depending upon the insurance carrier and the benefits that you are entitled to, as stipulated by your policy. Disability insurance companies and the policies that they draw up in representation of the clients can be as different as night and day.

There are several options and terms to evaluate in an effort to settle on the most important factor of determining the insurance carrier to purchase the disability insurance coverage from. Take this seriously-you'll want to select a disability insurance company that will be there when/if you need them. And be sure that each company give you a fresh earful on just what they define as "disabled."

Upon researching and finally settling on a disability insurance carrier, ask for disability insurance quotes of the various options available. Disability insurance generally falls into one of two categories: short term disability and long tern disability. Short term disability is generally defined as an illness or injury that keeps you from work for up to six months. Long term disability is coverage for injury or illness related income loss that commences at one year of disability.

Here are a few questions to ask your disability insurance carrier:

• Is the insurance short term or long term? • When does the disability insurance coverage begin? • What is the amount of the benefits? • How long does the insurance coverage lasts? • How are claims paid? • and Can the disability insurance coverage been renewed once it has been used once already?

Disability insurance protection will remove the inability of being ill and put the ability back into paying the bills. Look at it as insurance to protect your way of life; the way of life you are accustom to. <bio>http://www.assure-all.com/insurance/disability-insurance.html </bio>

"I don't believe anybody thinks about not being able to meet expenses," said John Henry, a 38 year old office worker who was unable to work for two months due to a back surgery. "I was in great health before the operation."

Henry spent two weeks in hospital and, unable to walk without assistance, had to go to a rehabilitation hospital. Even after all this care, he was unable to return to work.

But He Had Disability Insurance

Fortunately, he had decided to buy disability insurance a couple of years earlier. "I sent them a letter about my disability and said I needed to make a claim on my disability insurance policy."

The reality is that Canadians have a one in three chance of needing disability insurance for at least 90 days, if not more, some time before they retire. You need to plan like John Henry to avoid financial death.

Some Disability Insurance Tips:

Assess your risk: One in three can become disabled during their work career. Some disabilities last a lifetime.

Assess your finances: Work out how long you can survive financially without disability insurance.

Call your broker: Sometimes you can purchase disability insurance at work. The rate is cheaper but if you change jobs, you lose the coverage.

Have personal disability insurance coverage: If you have personal disability insurance coverage, you can take it from job to job. And as a bonus, the payments are tax free!

How To Choose Your Disability Insurance Coverage

Talk to a broker who handles several companies and compare their offerings. You are under no pressure to buy and the premiums may not differ that much, in which case, you should choose the strongest company. You want your insurer to still be in the business if you ever need to rely on your disability insurance. <bio>Ivon T.
Worried about the revved up medical bills on your recent sickness- temporary disability? It has made a big whole in your monthly budget. And now you are having sleepless nights on any possibility of recurrence of the situation in future.

Well, with the changing lifestyles, diseases among the generations have increased. Sometimes these diseases take the from of disabilities, costing you more on your pockets. But buying an insurance policy can give you some amount of respite. When you are unable to work, disability insurance coverage replaces some portion of your earned income. You get two major types of disability coverage:

Short-Term Disability Coverage: This type of insurance coverage gives you cover for the early days of your disability. This policy can pay you benefits for two weeks to two years. Usually short-term disability is included in the employee's benefit package.

Long-Term Disability Coverage: As the name suggests, long term disability helps you replace your income for an extended period of time. This time period generally ends after five years or when the age of the disabled person is 65. This long term disability is either provided by your employer or you can also have it individually. Under this, there are two types of individual insurance. One is non cancelable and the other is the guaranteed renewable.

In this type of insurance scheme, the renewal of the policy cannot be refused by the insurer. The insurer is also required to pay the premiums on time. The major difference between the two is that, you have an extra security in a non-cancelable contract, that the premiums will never be raised above that shown in the policy.

But a guaranteed renewable insurance policy can raise the premiums, if the change made affects all the policyholders. Due to this, the initial premiums are less expensive for the guaranteed renewable policy as compared to the non-cancelable one.

Insurance on individual disability is a basic concept. It considerably replaces your total income and that too on a tax free basis. The disability policy provided by every company is different from the other. But it is not a product that you can shop for on the basis of competitive rates. Buying a cheap disability insurance policy is just like throwing away money.

So before going in for a particular insurance policy, it is advisable for you to do a little market survey and put your hands on the one that is the most suitable to you. <bio>To get more information visit http://www.about-disability.com/disability-insurance/, http://www.about-disability.com/disability-insurance/ and http://www.about-disability.com/disability-and-civil-rights/ </bio>

It is the duty of a welfare state to take care of its citizens and provide all possible support and relief that they may require from time to time. It applies specifically to those who are socially, culturally, linguistically or physically in disadvantageous position. That's the reason why a special allowance is provided to the disabled in many countries across the globe.

Disability Allowance or Disability Living Allowance is a governmental aid provided to those who fall within the category of the disabled as defined under the relevant law. Broadly speaking, one is entitled to a disability allowance if one suffers from any such disability that makes one incapable of taking proper care of oneself. You may also get the benefit if you have serious difficulty in walking.

However, disability allowance is available only for those who are below the age of 65. Those who are above 65, are only entitled to an Attendance Allowance. The allowance is independent of whether or not you work or have any savings or not.

In case one is terminally ill with little expectation of living any longer than six months, there are special rules to ensure that the allowance is processed quickly and without hassles.

Not every one who is disabled gets the same kind of allowance, as it depends on which of the 'components' you are entitled to. There are two components and some may be entitled to one while some for both. If you cannot take due care of yourself and need assistance in it, you are entitled to the 'care component', and if you are unable to walk without help, you are entitled to the 'mobility component'. It is possible, as mentioned earlier, for one to be entitled to both the components, in which case the amount paid is higher. The amount also depends upon the extent to which the disability affects one.

The amount is deposited into any account you wish to use and which provides for it. One may also have it collected by someone else on one's behalf.

The associated benefits of disability allowance is that it increases the amount of money one gets from other schemes like Pension Credit, Income Support, Working Tax Credit and others. <bio>To get more information about disability, disabilty and health and disability aids visit http://www.about-disability.com/ </bio>

Disability Insurance is a simple insurance cover that makes sure that when you are unable to work due to disability you are not affected by huge financial losses. There are a number of companies offering these insurance cover. It is, thus, pertinent that you shop around a little and find if you are getting the best deal, which means best coverage for as little as possible.

Broadly, there are two kinds of disabilty insurance- short term and long term. In case of short term disability insurance the benefit does not stretch beyond a term of two year while a long term policy can be extended up to one's entire lifetime.

Taking insurance policy is a serious decision because in the time of hardship it can be a dependable helping hand, but if you chose the wrong one it may indeed add to your miseries. Hence, take every possible care and ensure that when you sign the papers you are very well aware of its implications to last detail. Do not consider one or a few benefits, but the whole of it in totality.

Remember, your policy can be canceled only by you and not by the insurance provider except when you default on premiums. Not only that, the insurance providers cannot even increase your premium unless you have specifically agreed to it.

How much it costs you depends upon a number of factors including age, employment and hobbies. The premiums vary in accordance with the risk of disability involved. The higher the risk, the heftier the premium.

What is quite interesting is that the risks of dying are much lower than the risk of disability, but people still go for life insurance instead of a disability insurance without giving much thought to it.

Agreed that the burden of the cost of living when you have a number of insurance premiums to fill is quite heavy, but if you have a family to support it is really worthwhile to contemplate a disability insurance for unforeseeable mishaps. After all, who can claim to have seen tomorrow, and if no one has, the best option is to weave a security net around your loved ones so that in case you fall, at least they manage to weather the storm. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
Disability makes one feel equally miserable about oneself irrespective of his social stature, earnings and age. But as the time passes by one gets accustomed to things, adjusts to the surrounding and starts living. Enjoying more and more, and complaining less and less one goes about the curious business of living. That's, loosely speaking, the 'philosophical' part of the story though I don't claim to be philosopher of any sort whatsoever.

Now the harder part. The philosophical distinction between childhood disability and adult disability is also reflected in the disability benefits one is entitled to, albeit in a slightly different fashion. To put it straight, the law makes a distinction between the disabled below and above 18 years of age.

Supplemental Security Income or SSI is a social benefit program instituted by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The SSA pays a monthly sum to those whose income is lower on account of old age, blindness or disability. Most of those under 18 years of age are considered children and the ones above as adults by the SSA. To be eligible for the SSI the rules are much the same for children and adults, but 'disability' in case of children is by definition more accommodating than the one employed for the adults.

The amount one gets as SSI is meant to meet one's very basic needs because it is assumed that a disabled person may not be able to earn enough. The need of one person living in a certain condition may be different from another in another set of circumstances. Therefore, the amount payable also differs. For instance, it is estimated that the disabled children living with their parents in the State of California need a sum of $722 per month. For those who are blind the amount is higher at $ 901, as their expenses are higher.

If, in the opinion of the authorities, you have money to spend on your basic needs in view of your sources of income, the amount is deducted from the payable sum and what remains is what you get for the SSI. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
Unfortunate it is, but disability makes one feel a little low about oneself unless one happens to be very high on self confidence, which many are but most aren't. Starting out from school is one such time when one want to go out and live one's dreams to the fullest. That's one time when we need to be bubbling with self confidence.

Dealing with the world of profession is by itself not an easy job because the protected environment of home makes us feel that fairness prevails everywhere, whereas the reality is a little different. And a disabled is likely to feel even more confused, as he or she might find that there is an additional difficulty for him or her to overcome.

Bad news- one is partly right. The good news- one is only partly right. So when you are about to leave school; want to work and are not sure of what to do, here are a few things you might consider:

1. You may start by talking around to those who are in the know of things before you walk out of school. They might be a valuable help.

2. Your class teacher may be the first person for you to approach.

3. There is counseling staff available in various governmental intuitions, whose primary function is to advise in such cases. They are mostly forthcoming when you approach them and are quite knowledgeable in this regard.

4. Then there are private education consultants who may also be approached.

So, there are many people out there who can help you and are quite willing. Make up your mind and walk down to them. There are plenty of opportunities specifically for the disables that one is generally unaware about. The first and the foremost, believe in yourself because in no way you are inferior to the rest of the world. Your greatest gift, as that of any human being, is your mind. And human mind is capable of being conditioned and has the capacity to hold unimaginable lot of information.

So, you are as good as anyone else, if not better than the most. Once you are fully conscious of the truth, understand it and believe in it, all hurdles are automatically removed. Life is a matter of belief. What you believe it is, it is. <bio>The author writes about a number of different topics.
The worst sufferers from the evil hands of disability are perhaps those who were once dedicated and hardworking professionals but are now helpless and dependent people. For, they have been thrown out of their job due to undue disability.

To help such people, governments of various countries have come up with the concept of social security benefits. To safeguard their rights and the rights of their families there has been formulated the Social Security Benefits Act. This act is a comprehensive law enactment that includes stern clauses and provisions for disability rights and benefits. The act is basically a set of guidelines for the disabled people and the privileges that they can avail on the onset of any form of disability.

But the benefits under this act cannot be availed by each and every disabled person. If a person is disabled for a minimum period of one year, it is only then that he can be benefited. For this purpose, the medical records of the patient are scrutinized, prior giving a clean chit for availing benefits under the social security scheme.

Social security benefits are generally divided into five major forms. It covers benefits for retirement, disability, family benefits, survivors and medicare. The best part about these benefits is that they can not only be availed by the disabled person but also by his family members. A provision has been made that gives powers to avail special benefit by the disabled widows or widowers of a person who had been a working professional for a considerable period of time, before dieing.

A same provision is valid for the disabled children whose parents died in a mis-happening. But for that to happen, the child should have been afflicted from disability before 22 years of age. You can easily file your social security benefits papers in person, by dropping in to the nearest social security office. Or, make a phone call to file the claim by having a telephonic interview with them.

Just secure your future and your family and protect yourself from falling prey to the ill hands of disability. <bio>To get more information visit http://www.about-disability.com/social-security-disability-benefits/, http://www.about-disability.com/americans-with-disabilities-act/ and http://www.about-disability.com/disability-insurance/ </bio>

Everybody enjoys being out on the holidays. It is a merry making time and people want to enjoy it to the fullest. They want to have all the fun that has allayed due to their busy lifestyles. They want it to remain in their memory forever. They want nothing to come in the way of their enjoyment, be it their sorrows or any form of disability.

Yes, you read it right. People with disability can also go out on a comfortable holiday. They can also relax and have a good time sitting on some serene beach or beautiful valleys. They have some special needs that should be addressed to, to make this happen though. All in all, a lot of efficient planning is involved if you want to enjoy holiday with disability. But that is not a task if you follow some simple thumb rules.

The most important thing that goes while planning a holiday is planning in advance. This mean that you should not end up doing that last minute packing that might miss carrying important medications. Because, any negligence from can make your holiday a disaster.

The next thing that follows is the search for a good travel agency. Nowadays there are many travel agencies that specially cater to the needs of the disabled people. Such agencies offer a wide range of services that will definitely make your travel easier and enjoyable, without you worrying much about your disability. The best part about them is that they are so much equipped that you might not even find the need of carrying your disability gadgets like wheelchair, walking stand and support stand. These agencies will arrange everything for you. Thus you can lessen your luggage in this manner.

A good travel agency, who specializes in catering to the needs of disabled persons, will do almost everything for you. It will plan out the best possible holiday destination for you- from booking your comfortable mode of transportation to a tranquilizing resort site. A good travel agency will also make sure that you do not step out without travel insurance for yourself.

Besides this there are other small, important things that you should take care of, like making a note of the local health care institute near your resort as in time of grave emergency you might need it. Also carry important contact details such as of your physician, a friend and a close family member.

There is nothing impossible in this world. All you need to do is to suffice a will power and you can easily over come your disability. <bio>To get more information visit http://www.about-disability.com/what-is-disability/, http://www.about-disability.com/disability-insurance/ and http://www.about-disability.com/disability-and-civil-rights/ </bio>

This article is made available for educational purposes only, to give you general information and a general understanding of the law, not to provide specific legal advice. This should not be used as a substitute for competent legal advice from a licensed professional attorney in your state.

An injured employee covered by workers' compensation is entitled to medical treatment at the employer's expense. If the employee misses any work due to the injury or is permanently injured the employee is likely due one or more of three types of cash benefits. These cash benefits are:

Total Temporary Disability (TTD) Total Partial Disability (TPD) Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)

How are Workers' Compensation cash benefits calculated?

Your Workers' Compensation benefits are first based on a term called your "average weekly wage." That wage figure is then applied to the type of disability benefits you are entitled to. You're average weekly wage is computed by averaging your wages from the 13 weeks prior to the injury. This figure includes salary, hourly pay, tips, meal allowances, lodging allowances, clothing allowances, and even year-end bonuses.

Depending on how much you worked/made in the 13 weeks before the injury, this calculation could end up benefiting you or unfairly setting your wage lower than you think it should be. If you did not work for the 13 weeks preceding the injury (maybe you were hurt on your first day) your wage is usually set by the wage of a similar employee for the 13 weeks prior to your injury.

Temporary Total Disability (TTD) Benefits

You are entitled to what is known as TTD benefits if your work injury results in your total disability from work. TTD benefits are two-thirds of your of your average weekly wage, but no more than $500 per week for injuries occurring on or after July 1, 2007. For injuries occurring prior to July 1, 2007, please use our TTD benefits calculator (link). Unless your injury is determined to be "catastrophic," you are only entitled to TTD benefits for a maximum period of 400 weeks from the date of injury.

"Catastrophic" injuries are not subject to the 400 week cap and include such injuries as paralysis, brain injury, severe neurological disorders, total blindness, and amputations of an arm, hand, foot or leg. An attorney can advise you if your injury may be "catastrophic" under Georgia law.

You do not necessarily have to be 100% physically disabled to be disabled from work. It does mean that you have a 100% impairment of earning capacity. If you are able to return to light duty work and your employer cannot or will not accept you back at work, you may still be entitled to TTD benefits.

Temporary Partial Disability (TPD) Benefits

You are entitled to TPD benefits when your earning capacity is impaired but you are not totally disabled from work. This means if you are injured and are unable to earn a weekly wage equal to the wage you were earning, you are entitled to two-thirds the difference between your wage before and after the accident, but no more than $334 per week. Your employer is responsible for paying this benefit whether you are earning a lower wage with the same or a different employer. You are eligible for these benefits for up to 350 weeks after you are injured.

Permanent Partial Disability (PPD) Benefits

Unlike TTD and TPD, this benefit relates entirely to your level of physical disability, not your earning capacity. An employee may be entitled to this benefit even if they never missed a day of work or lost any wages due to an injury. PPD is based entirely on a formula that takes into account your percentage of impairment (as determined by your doctor, not your employer), the part of the body impaired, and your compensation rate. However, PPD benefits will not begin until after an employee stops receiving weekly TTD or TPD payments. See our Compensation calculators (link) to learn more about how PPD benefits are computed.

Penalties for late payments

If you are not paid your TTD, TPD, or PPD benefits on-time, your employer may owe you a 15% penalty in addition to the amounts they already owe you. This is true if your employer incorrectly denied you your benefits for a period of time, or if they are already paying you your weekly benefits and miss a payment or mail it to you late.

Waiting period for receiving benefits

An injured employee is NOT entitled to any cash benefits for the first 7 days they are hurt unless the injury period lasts for at least 21 consecutive days. In other words, if you are out of work due to injury, your employer does not need to pay you any cash benefits until the 8th day of disability. If you are still disabled after 21 days, your employer must then go back and compensate you for the first week of your disability. <bio>Aaron Walter is an attorney in Marietta, Georgia.
