Nothing adds as much to a room as paint does. There isn't a design element out there that gives you as much value and return on investment as a simple can of paint. The first step in decorating any space should be painting. Your room can go from blank canvas to evoked emotion in the few hours it takes to paint the walls. And that is before you even bring the furniture in.

Before you paint your room, you want to consider what emotion it is you would like to evoke. An overview of the colorwheel and its colors will give you some guidelines to follow, though these certainly are not hard and fast rules. In your home, anything goes.

Warm colors. Red, Orange, Yellow. This part of the color spectrum suggests warmth, passion, coziness, hearth and home.

Cool colors. Blue, Green, Purple. This portion of the wheel gives feelings of cool calmness and serenity.

Where the warm colors are loud and energetic, the cool colors are quiet and introspective. But, because most colors, particularly the ones you might find at the paint store, are a blend of colors, you can have warmer or cooler versions of hues. So there are cool purples that are more blue than red, and warm purples that are more red than blue.

Taking into account the room you are working with and its primary function, you can choose a warmer or cooler color. A cozy study could use a warm color like a warm rust; a home office might work well with a cool, crisp green. It all depends on the desired effect you are looking for.

One additional thing to keep in mind is that no room exists in a vacuum. You can have each room in your home with a completely different feeling, but you may have to consider the flow so that the transition from room to room is not jarring. <bio>http://1stcarpeting.com home furnishings and decor for the modern home http://www.1stcarpeting.com </bio>

If you've thought about doing oil paintings, here are some basics to get you started.

The first step in your production of oil paintings is to make sure that the area in which you are going to paint is well ventilated. You need a window or door that can be opened as you work, a good fan and a space that is fairly open so air is able to circulate.

If you are going to work on your oil paintings outside you'll have to be able to secure everything so the wind doesn't end up blowing things all over. Keep in mind that bees, and various other insects will flock to your citrus thinner. The first thing to do is put down your drop cloth, your tarp, your plastic bag and so forth. Secure the edges of each by using masking tape. This will keep it from getting bunched up. You're going to set up your oil paintings work area on the drop cloth so make sure the area is roomy enough for your comfort. If you are going to work on your oil paintings with a table easel set up on a table, you'll want to cover the floor below the table top and the place where you will stand or sit.

Before you start painting your oils, don your paint attire - gloves included. You'll need one container that has paint thinner and one container that holds a combination of two parts paint thinner and one part walnut oil. These containers should be about three inches high and two inches around. Each should be filled to the half way mark. You'll need a comfortable set up with an easy reach for your paint palette and knife, your brushes, the two containers, as well as paint rags and tubes.

Now set up the paints you'll use for your oil paintings. If you have a variety of colors, you don't need all of them squeezed out onto your paint palette. Start with just two or three colors. If your choices are only primary colors, then squeeze out onto your palette a dime size spot of cadmium red, yellow and blue. Space them as far from each other on the palette as possible, as if you are putting dots on the three points of a triangle. In the center of this paint triangle squeeze a nickel-size spot of Titanium white oil paint. Next use your knife to mix these colors.

Now you're ready to really start creating your oil paintings. <bio>http://oilpaintinghq.com All the information you need to know about oil paintings from reproductions to originals. </bio>

Choosing a paint color for your automobile is much more then personal preference. There are some other things that should be taken into account. Some of these things include the type of car that you have, the cost, how a paint color affects your resale value and functionality. We will talk a little bit about each of these things below.

It is important to note that just because you like a color doesn't mean that it will look good on your type of car. Some colors just don't look good on certain types of cars. Now, of course, a lot of this is personal opinion, but it would you hard to imagine a BMW in a bright yellow color, it just wouldn't look good. Another thing to consider is cost. You may be able to secure a certain brand of base coat for around between $200 and $400 a gallon. Some colors are going to be a lot more expensive, and this includes custom and not custom colors. What you will want to do it is choose a color and then visit either an auto shop or paint store and see what your options are in terms of cost, color, partners and sealers.

Resale value is also a very important part of choosing a paint color for your car. If you want to have the best chance of being able to sell your car down the line, it is very important that you don't go with loud or odd colors that most people won't appreciate. So if you're considering re-selling your car down the line, be sure that you don't get trendy with car colors. This will increase your chances that your car will be easy to sell. Go with colors that are timeless.

There are also functional reasons to decide on a certain color. For example, you may want to hide or soften body lines on the car. You may also want a car that doesn't show dirt easily. Wanting your car to look larger or smaller may also determine what color of car you will choose. And while individuals who are car enthusiasts, may consider function more than simply liking a particular color, it should be important to everyone.

So when they are considering purchasing paint for their car, don't simply go with "well, I like this color." You should consider the cost of a particular color, the function of car, the type of car that you have, which may include make, model and body type. You also want to think carefully about how choosing a certain color will affect the resale value of your car. Remember to stay away from trendy colors because they will make it more difficult to resale your car later on. You will not want to have to pay for a new paint job on a car that you are looking to sale and no longer want. Therefore, take some time and put a little thought into the color you want your car painted. What may seem cool and trendy today could be a source of stress when you need to sale it or trade it in, a few years down the line.<bio>NC Azalea Festival Triangle Rental Car </bio>

A simple coat of paint can revitalize your home in one simple step. You can take your house from boring drab to a beauty of color. Paint is also the cheapest way to remodel any room of your home, or even the exterior of your house. There are now dozens of manufacturers with numerous sheens and colors to choose from. The color choice can often be the hardest decision of all. Many people make multiple trips back and forth from the home improvement or paint store because they cannot decide on a paint choice.

Paint is becoming very expensive, but it is possible to get samples to take home before you make a large purchase. Some stores have swatches; however, the color is never as dark as it actually is. There are stores that are now sending home a small bottle of your paint choice for free so that you can test various colors on your walls. Many people have a basic idea of the colors that they want in their home, while others have no idea where to start.

The best place to begin is with the colors that you are naturally attracted to. View each color during different times of the day. You should also pay attention to how a particular color makes you feel. If the paint is for your bedroom, then you would obviously need a color that makes you feel at ease. You should also use this method in a room that you go in the most frequently.

While copying another person's color scheme might not be your idea of an original room, looking in books and magazines are great places for inspiration. If there are any show rooms near your home then you can also gain inspiration from those as well. Seeing color combinations used by other home owners can help you choose the correct colors. However, if you use a magazine for inspiration, do not try to copy the complete theme that is used. A magazine will almost never produce the same results that you expected.

While a color swatch on a piece of paper is not always the best way to choose a color, the manufacturers fan deck of colors can help you choose color combinations. A color deck is basically an extended version of a color wheel. The manufacturer will usually have one for interior walls and another deck for exterior projects. Take into consideration the fact that brighter colors will lose their hue after they are exposed to sunlight or certain weather conditions. Also, lighter colors will take several coats in order to achieve the perfect shade.

For exterior colors, a neutral tone with a value in the middle is the best choice. Light and medium beige or brown colors cover exterior walls the best and have a larger resistance to UV light. The worst colors to use on exterior walls are reds and yellows. Dark green is also difficult because it takes multiple coats to achieve the darkest shade. If you live in a gated community or an exclusive neighborhood, you might need to check with the association to make sure that a specific color is acceptable for the community. The color that you choose can have a negative effect on the value of your home, which is another option to take into consideration.<bio>Learn more about choosing interior and exterior paint colors at http://www.house-painting-info.com</bio>

Many artists enjoy decorating dollhouses as much as they do building them. Doll house paint schemes have no limits, and the license to be creative is free. Painted dollhouses give the artist an opportunity to express their own personal tastes and styles. Here are several suggestions to keep in mind when you are trying to plan and design the colors for you doll house paint scheme.

Remember, the interior and exterior colors should complement each other. Being able to see the interior and the exterior at the same time is one feature that makes dollhouses unique. You wouldn't want one to take away from the other because the paint schemes clash. The paint chips at your local paint store will often show innovative and creative complementary color schemes. Use these for ideas. Additionally, many tools online will help you choose complimentary colors. You may be surprised to see the wide range of creative possibilities that are available to you.

If you are trying to re-create a historical building, then you will need to make sure that the doll house paint that you select is realistic. Do a little research to find out what colors may have been popular on period pieces. For exact replicas, you may want to head to the library to see if you can find photos or painting of the building that you are replicating. Either way, painted dollhouses are a great way to re-create the past. Not only are they fun to build, but they can be great teaching tools in an educational setting.

If you are creating an original structure, then feel free to be creative in choosing the doll house paint that you want to use. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Original pieces provide a template for you to utilize your full creative ability. Use whatever scheme you think looks good. Remember, painted dollhouses say as much about the creator as they do about the art form.

Giving away painted dollhouses as a gift requires a little consideration when creating the color scheme. Ask yourself several questions when you are trying to decide which colors of doll house paint to use. Where will the dollhouse live? Will it be a nice addition to that room? Will it stick out like a sore thumb? How will the dollhouse be used? You will want to be careful about the kind of doll house paint that you are using if you think the doll house will be played with. Durability becomes an important feature. If the house is strictly going to be a showpiece, then you can feel free to use more delicate colors and finishes without worrying about the paint scheme showing wear. <bio>Learn more about the fascinating world of miniatures.
I love paint. There are so many kinds of paint and there are so many fun and important uses of paint. Our lives and most especially our homes would be very different without it.

Can you imagine a world, or even just your bedroom, without any paint on the walls? Imagine that all our walls were plain cement or wood. No colors and nothing to make them unique or standout from the rest. Having paint for walls and to decorate has made life easier and more beautiful. People are able to be creative and to use paint to make their homes reflect their personalities. Look around your house and see if there is a room or two that might benefit from a fresh coat of paint. You will be surprised at how different your living area can become when you simply add a little new paint.

Or think of all of the beautiful artwork that you see in homes, offices, galleries, and churches. The world would be a lot plainer without the paintings of talented artists, and we all know it takes paint to make a great painting. Have you ever wanted to try your hand at learning to paint? Now is the time. Go to your local craft store and pick out a small canvas and a few paints and go to town. Recreate an image you have seen before or imagine your own scene and paint it. Allow trying to paint to be a relaxing and fun way to spend time.

Have you ever noticed a refrigerator filled with the artwork of children? Parents love to display the creativity of their kids. Often these masterpieces took shape with paint. Allowing your children to play around with paint can be a great way to instill in your kids the value of creativity and of enjoying learning how to do something new. So grab some kid friendly paint and see what your kids come up with. Invite their friends over and making learning to paint a fun group activity. Incorporate artistic activities at birthday parties or other social events you hold for your children. They can have fun and learn at the same time.

Paint is great whether you are picking out a new color to update a room in need of remodeling or you are attempting to keep the kids entertained for a few afternoon hours. People of all ages will love to decorate and redecorate the finest homes and the oldest refrigerators using nothing but a little paint. <bio>Matthias Reightman is proud to be an advisor to anyone struggling to add color to their life.
When you are producing flower landscape oil paintings, keep in mind the short canvas blend life of oil paints. If you are producing an oil painting of a flower landscape and you need to make a change that isn't immediately effective, the best thing to do is wipe it off with your paint rag and start over. This will work for the first 24 hours after your painting, as oil paintings take this long to dry. In fact, it's important not to make too thick a first coat or you'll never get your oil paints to dry.

One important piece of oil painting advice is to clean your paint brushes each time you change colors. You do this by first wiping as much paint off the brush with a rag as you possibly can and then inserting the brush into the paint thinner. Not only will this get more oil paints off your brush, but will extend the life of your thinner as well. Swish your paint brush around in the container of paint thinner, then dry it with your clean paint rag.

When the first layer of your flower landscape oil painting creation is finished, wait 48 hours before you start on your second paint application or you're going to end up smearing the work you already did. In the meantime don't leave your oil painting somewhere hot or humid. Make sure that its location will protect it from getting accidently scraped, smooshed, smeared, or touched at all.

Should you have a lot of paint left on the palette and you want to use it when you start your flower landscape oil paintings again, scrape the paint together with your knife. Next put a small amount of paint thinner on a cleam paint rage and use it to clean the rest of your paint palette. Plastic wrap is great for covering the paint that is leftover. Make sure you wrap it tightly though.

It's important as well, that until you start again with your flower landscape oil paintings, that you replace the lid on the container of paint thinner and set it aside, no matter how cloudy it looks. The paint thinner will settle and the pigment that is part of the paint will drop to the bottom of the container.

Clean thinner will settle at the top. The next time you go back to your flower landscape oil paintings you'll only need to pour that top layer of clean paint thinner into a new and clean thinner container, and wipe the pigment off the bottom. You then pour the good paint thinner back into its original thinner container and you're ready to start your flower landscape oil painting project once again. <bio>http://oilpaintinghq.com All the information you need to know about oil paintings from reproductions to originals. </bio>

Many home owners report that their concrete does not look as good as it first did, and indeed some concrete looses its looks and become cracked and dimples and rust stains. This look damages the house look and many find it to be plain ugly, the solutions that people apply to this problem is usually covering the whole concrete surface with different thing, mattress and clothes from all materials, but covering the concrete does not solve the problem just provides a temporary solution you need to remove once it starts raining.

The real solution for this problem is using concrete paint. You can use concrete paint to cover the whole surface and make it look completely different, the paint will help you change the look and you can also add some sand to the paint to help prevent problems like slipping or falling on the concrete because of water or cracks, the paint will make these problems disappear.

Whenever talking about changing or replacing concrete we are talking about an expensive work that will almost surely take some time and effort that might disturb the family living in the house for some time, this is why the concrete problems should first try to be solved by a quicker and simpler solutions, the concrete paint solution is much shorter and easier than redoing the whole area of the concrete. The only thing you need to do is visit a shop and decide on the color that you want, buy the other necessary things for this project, find some free time and paint your concrete.

There is also place for creativity when painting your concrete, you can buy a few different colors, make a plan of how you want to paint it and paint geometric shapes, different patterns, words and letters, colors that correspond to the house colors, swirls and circle shapes and check board shapes. You can also use templates for these shapes, you will need to make or get durable templates and use them to give your concrete a unique look.

The only important thing you should bare in mind is that before painting the concrete you will need to examine all the concrete surface to make sure that it is clean and dry, in any case you should clean the whole surface to make sure that no oil stains or water is not present on the surface because concrete can hold a lot water. You can clean the surface by using a broom on the dry surface and then using a broom and some strong cleaning produce, washing like you do at home, and then using water to wash away the soap. Once the concrete is clean and dry the painting can start.

Once you will complete the painting you will understand how easy and simple it is to reinvent your concrete surface look, and also understand that once you are bored with the colors you could change again and again, good luck with your new concrete paint and new concrete surface. <bio>Daniel Roshard is an interior designer fascinated by outdoor architecture, he is currently studying public parks and outdoor design.
<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/paint+swatches" rel="tag">Paint swatches are your best friend when it comes to choosing paint colors to decorate the walls, furniture and other items within your home. A paint swatch has been designed to show you the many shade possibilities you have if your focus is on one particular color.

For instance, if you wish to paint your room blue possible shades that await you include: azure, cerulean, periwinkle, denim, navy blue, cobalt blue, sapphire, ultramarine, light blue, indigo and hundreds of other hues.

Something else you will notice when looking at blue paint swatches, for example, is that you can choose blue hues that feature tones of green, purple and gray. Therefore, you have plenty to consider when you go color hunting.

The only problem is, with so much to choose from, finding the right shade can be both a difficult and tedious task.

To help you narrow down your decision making when it comes time to stare at the wall of paint swatches at your local paint or home improvement store, the following are some helpful interior painting tips you can keep in mind:

Warm or Cool =96 Think of the room you will be painting. Is it an area where you do most of your relaxing, entertaining or eating? For instance, if you are painting your bedroom it's a good idea to choose a cool color such as blue or green that encourages relaxation.

On the other hand, if you are painting a kitchen or dining room you may want to use a warm red or orange to help increase appetite and conversation. Warm colored paint swatches include red, yellow and orange, while cool colors are blue, green and purple.

Light - Medium -Dark =96 Once you select the main color, you need to decide if you would rather a light, medium or dark shade. Light shades are a good choice for rooms that are small such as bathrooms, or for rooms that have few or no windows. Light colors also create a more subdued look.

Medium tones provide a more dramatic look and are a better choice for kitchens and large open spaces such as the family room.

Dark tones are not typically used for walls and are more commonly used for painting room accents such as furniture, trim or cabinets.

However, dark walls may be desirable in bedrooms or to compliment a theme.

When looking at paint swatches you will notice that the colors featured on each swatch move from dark to light. Notice how different the darkest shade is to the lightest. Depending on if you use the dark or light shade will create an entirely different affect on the room you are painting.

Theme =96 Do you have a theme that requires certain colors? For instance, if you are doing a country theme, light yellow and blue are ideal choices. On the other hand, a Mexican theme would require spicier colors such as cinnamon and terracotta. This is something else you need to keep in mind when looking at paint swatches.

Neutrals =96 One of the biggest problems with adding color to walls is the color you choose may limit your ability to keep a space versatile. In other words, it is more likely for you to grow tired of a room that has a defined color on the walls than one with a neutral shade. There are plenty of neutral swatches you can consider.

The more specific you are with your color preference the easier time you will have selecting helpful paint swatches. <bio>Micheal is the creator of http://www.home-decorating-made-easy.com/interior-paint-colors.html.
Are you dealing with a small room and wondering what the best paint colors are to make it look larger? If so, we're going to go over a few options you can choose from that will give you the look you want.

Consider the following choices to open your space up...

Option 1) Use a (Light) Cool Color. If it's not yet obvious (light) cool colors are said to be the best colors to go with because they trick the eyes into thinking they are further away than they really are. If you're wondering what colors classify as cool colors, cool colors are considered to be...

* blue * green * purple

Putting an example to them, you can think of the colors of the ocean or sea, sky and trees.

Option 2) Use a Gloss Finish. If you want to go a step further consider using a gloss finish. Paint experts at Behr.com have said that using a gloss finish can also contribute to making a small room appear larger. The best ones to use are said to be an eggshell finish, satin finish and semi-gloss finish. You'll want to stick witch using a semi-gloss finish for the kitchen and bathroom. For bedrooms, living rooms and other rooms of the house a more subtle approach is best--the satin and eggshell finish being great choices for those rooms.

Option 3) Use Monochromatic Colors. A monochromatic color scheme is simply using colors that are close in tone so that when the eye moves around the room it is uninterrupted and tricks you into believing there's more space than there really is. A simple way to go about using a monochromatic color scheme is to use colors from the same palette, such as light blue, medium blue and so forth.

Lastly, after discovering that cool colors are the best colors in principal, you still might want to consider another choice.

Option 4) Compromise with a Light Warm Color. If you're wondering what warm colors are, they are yellow, orange and red. Putting them into an example, warm colors are the colors of heat. You can think of the sun and fire as good examples.

Generally, warm colors get the opposite results that cool colors get. That is, they make a room feel smaller because they appear as though they are coming toward you. However, they also make a space feel cozy, which means it's sometimes worth the sacrifice to pick a warm color, especially if you love it.

Remember, you'll be the one living in your home day in and day out. You want to be certain that the colors you pick are colors you can enjoy. If you can't enjoy the selection of cool colors then it might be best to you to pull from both worlds...

That way you'll still be getting something light but warm at the same time. Choosing a light warm color will then ensure that your room will feel fairly bright to you, but also offer you that intimate feeling that you couldn't deny yourself.

So keep in mind not to only choose what's best for your rooms but also what's best for you...

After all these are choices you'll have to live with every single day. <bio>Tameka Norris offers space saving tips and small scale furniture recommendations for small rooms, homes, apartments, dorms, and small condos at her website http://www.furniture-for-small-spaces.com. </bio>

Have you ever wondered why colors look different in your home? Simple.

Lighting in the paint store is not the same as in your home. Your windows bring in light and your light bulbs are different. Even against other colors; color can change. Take a paint sample home and see the difference.

Lighting effects colors in the way that they absorb; or reflect light. Some colors will appear warmer in natural light, brighter in florescent light and toned down in incandescent lighting.

Light colors reflect; while dark colors absorb the lighting. Of course, everyone has a different opinion on whether light or dark colors make a room look smaller or larger. What's your thought? Think about this. If you look at a black ceiling can you really tell where it ends?

Keep this in mind when planning the lighting in your home. Yeah; another thing to think about.

* Incandescent (bulbs) - This light enhances yellow and orange. While it dulls blue and violets. Red takes on an orange tint.

* Florescent (tube) - Invigorates green, blue and violet hues; but it washes out red, yellow and orange shades.

* Natural (outside or man-made lights) - This is the best, but not always practical light for the home. Reds warm and yellows tone down; while blues brighten and greens darken.

Lighting is not the only thing affecting colors. Ever wonder why colors look different when placed next to each other? It has to do with light wavelengths, but that is more scientific so, we will stay clear of that and make it easier to understand.

In plain language, colors can change radically when they are viewed next to another color. Try it at home to see the effect. Or try it with some paint swatches by putting them together.

Red next to blue - Red takes on a yellowish tint.
Red next to green - Red appears brighter and stronger.
Red next to yellow - Red seems bluer.
Red next to black - Red appears duller.
Red next to white - Red seems brighter and lighter.

Also, opposite (on the color chart/wheel) colors attract such as:

Red is redder when it's with green.
Yellow is sharper when it's with purple.
Blues becomes bluer when it's with orange.

Keep this in mind if you have two or more colors that will be next to
each other. Always put the two colors together and view in the lighting
that you have in your home - during the day and at night.

Here is a list of the warm and cool colors:

* Warm Colors - Red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange and yellow-greens.

* Cool Colors - Green, blue-green, blue, blue-purple and red-purples.

Always remember...view the color samples at home in the room they will be used. You will be surprised. View during the day and evening. Leave the swatches on the walls for a few days or longer if you are not sure. Oh, yes...use removable tape (blue or purple) if you are leaving them on for some time. You don't want to mar the wall when removing the tape.

Then, before buying gallons of paint; purchase a quart or if they sell the small paint samples and paint a 6' x 6' square are and feather out the edges so you don't have a hard line. Why? Because those small swatches don't give a wide viewing area and to be absolutely sure you love the color before spending lots of money on gallons of paint.<bio>H.
Kids of all ages love to have their faces painted (especially the younger ones!), so it's the perfect thing to learn how to do if you have young kids... or you're planning to have a birthday party for your children.

With this in mind, I've prepared a few tips for people just starting out in face painting. Here they are:

1) If you're painting a design that needs a large area to be covered with paint, use a sponge instead of a brush. Why? Because applying the paint with a sponge means it will dry quicker. It's a good idea to have a few sponges set aside if you need to use different colors, because this means you won't have to try and clean the sponge for each color...which would take time.

2) Always let the first color dry before you start painting on a second! If you forget to wait for it to dry, they colors will most likely mix and you're going to have to start from scratch again.

3) Make sure you know what you want the finished face to look like. Don't mak it up as you go along. You need to be able to paint faces rather quickly, as if you have children, you already know that kids aren't always very patient...and they may get bored or restless if you're thinking on what to paint next.

4) If you're not good at painting freehand yet, don't be afraid to use a stencil. You can get stencils of stars, hearts, flowers, and all sorts of things. These are perfect for stencilling onto a cheek. You'll need stencils of different sizes to accommodate different face sizes.

5) If you want something faster than stencilling, why not try temporary tattoos? Make sure the person's skin doesn't react badly to it first, by asking them (or their parents)...or testing it on a small area first.

6) If you have a line of kids ready to have their faces painted, ask them to be thinking about what they would like a few minutes before its actually their turn. You don't want to be delayed while each kid thinks of what he or she would like painted on their face.

7) Remember to have a mirror with you at all times so you can show the person what you have painted, and to make sure they're happy with your work.

8) Professional face paint and stage makeup can be quite expensive, especially if you're planning to paint a lot of faces. You can make your own simple face paint with cheaper ingredients. A quick search on Google will find you plenty of ideas that you can use to make your own face paint with. Bear in mind this won't be as good as the professional face paint, so if you can afford it... I would advice you to get the professional stuff.

They you go, that's my 8 tips a for professional face painting! I hope you found them useful. <bio>For my info on how to do face painting, visit: http://my-face-painting.blogspot.com </bio>

Paint your own Rims? Who would have thought something previously done by professionals could be done in your own home.

While, the concept of painting your own rims has been around a few years now, many questions pop up of how to do it and I thought I would share my own experiences with painting my Integra stock rims. I have read up many examples of how to do this, but my first time trying was this year when I chose to refinish my winter rims. I was quite please with the outcome.

First, what the hell do you need to paint your rims? Paint of course :) This is where Duplicolor comes in with their wheel paint. They offer paint colors to match your style coming in white, gunmetal, classic silver and bronze as well. I chose to do mine in gunmetal leaving my lip the stock polished style look. So here are your options:

So you chose your color, bought your paint and are semi-ready. First, you need to sand down your rims. Why? This gives the surface a rough texture so the paint has something to adhere to. Reference the article to polish your rims on how sanding of the rims works. The only difference with this is how far you want to go. In my case, being winter rims painted I chose not to go through the process of stripping the paint on the rims completely. I simply sanded down the surface with 300 grit sandpaper ensuring to make everything sanded equally. This gives the rough surface required for the paint to adhere, and as long as your rims had no damage it should be good enough.

Your rims are sanded; you have your paint and now are ready. First, make sure you clean all sanding dust off the rims and ensure a totally clean surface so the paint will stick and not flake off after your first drive out with your newly painted rims!!! Here are my rims washed and ready to completely dry before painting:

My rims are masked off with newspaper and masking tape. Of course you want to do this so you don't turn your tires into the color you are painting. I don't want gunmetal painted tires. Also if you look close enough, you will know that the lip has been masked off as well. So I carefully applied the masking tape on the lip to protect it from being painted as well. Also, you know the little thing you pump your air into, mask that off as well unless you want that to have a color change as well :)

The rims are dry, you have masked off what you don't want painted and now you are ready. Put some newspaper on the ground and place the rim on top of the newspaper. You don't want to paint the concrete underneath the rim so keep it clean with the newspaper.

Now apply your first coat of paint. Let the paint dry well and next day admire your handiwork and results. <bio>Steamboat L.
Don't get caught trying to touch up a scratch or scrape on your car's paint job with nail polish. There are some great nail polish colors that look great our toes and fingers however they don't go so well on cars. Even if you think the color is close enough it is almost guaranteed that someone else will notice the blemish. It is always better to get the job done right the first time. So if you shouldn't use nail polish, how should you fix those scratches and scrapes?

The answer to your problem is to get the paint touched up from an auto body repair shop. Don't worry; you are not alone with this dilemma since about 80% of cars on the road today need some form of touch up work done to the paint. The reason you should chose an auto body repair shop instead of nail polish is because the shop can match the touch up paint almost identical to the paint on your car. So you may be thinking you can save money by buying paint from an auto parts store. Well, that is not a good idea because it is also hard to match the color directly. Seriously, how close can you get with a one color matches all? We all know that one size does fit all so why would one color match all?

Paint touch up can be effective on paint chips, nicks, scratches, rust spots and bumper scrapes. Keep in mind that it is a touch up job and that it will not be perfect. The importance of getting the paint touched up is more for the protection of your vehicle. It protects the metal from rust and other further damage. Since the area of repair is kept to a minimum you will not spend a great deal of time waiting to get the touch up done. Also there will be a lot less out of your pocket than getting the whole area repainted.

So, if you bring your car to an auto body shop for the touch up, this is what you might expect to happen. At the auto body shop they will prepare your car for the repair by washing the area(s) thoroughly and letting it air dry very well. Then the area will be lightly sanded with the correct type of sander for automobile paint. Then a clear layer will be applied to act as a base coat. They will use their computerized system to get the color code for your car's paint color. They will most likely do a test of the color on a part of your car that is not visible. This is done as a precaution to make sure the match is correct. Then they will begin work on the problem area(s) in a straight, even, back and forth motion. After the paint is dry in all areas they will complete the repair. The last step to touching up the paint is to apply a layer of wax and buff the area. This usually does not take much time at all.

So, keep the nail polish away from your car and let the pros touch up your cars paint.<bio>If your car has some scratches and scrapes get San Diego Paint Touch Up and all of your paint touch up concerns will be a thing of the past!</bio>

If you want to learn how to do face painting you will find it is quite simple to do, but ideally you should be reasonably good at drawing pictures.

The best way to learn how to do face painting is just to have a go. Obtain a book about how to do face painting from your local library and go out and purchase a few face paint packs, sponges and brushes. The books will tell you all you need to know on how to get you started. If you find yourself beginning to enjoy face painting, and let's face it, it's great fun for both you and the children, and you want to learn more, look out for your local adult education classes where more often than not a face painting course is included amongst some kind of theatrical or media make-up course and can further instruct you on how to do face painting .

Making Your Own Face Paint

You can make your own face paint by using the following simple ingredients.

1 tsp corn starch 1/2 tsp water 1/2 tsp cold cream Food coloring

Mix together the starch and cold cream until well blended. Add water and stir, and finally add the food coloring.

Use a small paint brush to paint the designs onto the face. The paint is easily removed using soap and water and can be stored in an airtight container when not in use. It is advisable not to face paint people who have sensitive skin or any allergies to the above ingredients.

Mix different food colors to make your own special colors if possible. Never let paint get into the eyes and when you are working near or around the eyes the person should close them when you paint above them and look up when you are working below the eyes.

When Is It Not Safe To Face Paint Someone?

Face painting is fun and easy, but there are several occasions when you should not carry out face painting on an individual, these are:-

If the person is under three years old. If the person has any food allergies or allergic reactions to soaps, skin creams. If the person has any open cuts wounds or sores or spots on their face. If they have any known infectious skin condition.

Face Painting is easy, fun and rewarding. Within a few days, you could learn an art that could:-

Give you a unique skill and a way to express your creativity, even if you thought you never have a creative bone in your body.

Give you a talent that you can offer as a way to raise money for your favorite charities, schools or other organizations.

With additional training and experience you can provide a part time income to you and your family. <bio>Did you find those tips on Face Painting useful?
Why do we choose particular colors for our home? It is because we either like them or have seen them in a magazine or someone's home. Most times it is because we have a favorite color deep in our mind and may not even be aware of it. But, some of us have trouble deciding on which colors we really want to use in our own home. So, what do you do?

Let's take it step-by-step:

1. Look around the room and see if there is a color you like in the items present.

2. Take the item (or a sample) to the paint store and choose some color samples that work with your item.

3. Tape the samples to the wall in the room you want to paint.

4. If you are happy with the sample you should only purchase a quart at this time. Why? It is hard to make a decision from a small paint sample. Or, ask the paint store if they can provide larger paint samples.

5. Paint a 5' x 5' square and live with it for a few days or more. Now you can place other items and fabrics near the color to see how they coordinate. Also, you can view the color during the day and at night when colors change due to the lighting.

6. If you're satisfied you can purchase the paint, pick the sheen and paint the walls!

Also, paint sheen is another decision, but easy one to make. The sheens are as follows and are usually dictated by the room's use:

• Flat has no shine and it hides imperfections on the walls. But, it is harder to clean than satin or semi-gloss.

• Satin or eggshell have a very soft sheen. But can be cleaned easier than flat.

• Semi-gloss has a shiner finish and can be cleaned much easier. So, it is good for high traffic areas such as kitchen and bathrooms. But, also emphasizes imperfections.

• Gloss is the shiniest and best to clean, but it emphasizes the imperfections the best.

OK, now that we got past that, you want to know "Do colors really reflect our personalities?" Why don't you decide for yourself? Below is a list of colors and their respective personality traits.

Yellow = Idealist, Self-fulfillment, Lofty dreams.
Green = Moral, Balance, Caring companion.
Blue-Green = Sensitive, Exacting and sensitive.
Blue = Secure, Conservative, Trusting and loyal friend.
Purple = Polite, Vain and non-impressionable.
Lavender = Social, Civilized and neat.
Brown = Dependable, Conservative by nature.
Red = Aggressive, Vigorous, Impulsive in your mood and actions.
Burgundy = Ambition, Conscience and strength.
Pink = Romantic, Charm, Softness and warmth.
Orange = Adventuress, Good-natured and charming.
White = Simplicity, Neat and immaculate.
Gray = Cautious and non-committal.
Black = Dignified, Sophisticated and mysterious.

However, don't run out and buy the color that matches your personality if you already have colors in your home. These personalities are just a non-scientific way to look at colors and how and why people choose them. But, keep in mind that some colors don't work in all rooms; so be careful how you choose them.<bio>H.
When building a house perhaps the most personal decision a home owner has to make is the selection of interior and exterior colors. Usually most home owners tend to follow their own instincts when selecting paint color. Additionally with regards to color selection one has to be particular as interior color shades are distinct from exteriors. Decorating a house with personally preferred hues lends a home its own unique personality. While it is true that there are no stringent rules about paint color selection, certain color systems naturally appeal to the average eye. Thus understanding them can assist in making the best decisions regarding color choice.

Durability -- It is important to note that for colors that are more intense the probability to fade is much higher. After a few years of weathering, vivid blues and deep reds will seem more subdued. Additionally, dark colors also create more maintenance problems as they tend to absorb heat and suffer more moisture problems than lighter shades. And because dark paint fades, it's difficult to touch up.

Sheen -- Choosing a color isn't that simple. In addition, a home owner needs to also decide on the sheen of paint, whether it is glossy, semi-gloss or flat. Note that the glossier the surface area is, the more likely it is to show faults, brush strokes and touch up marks. On the other hand, glossy surfaces are easier to clean. The trend with many homeowners is that they generally opt to use flat paint for walls and semi-gloss or glossy paint for columns, railings and window sashes.

Color Deceptions -- When actually brought out of the store and viewed in natural sunlight color swatches usually look very different. Many times the colors appear lighter on large surfaces than they do on small samples. It is advisable that before purchasing paint a home owner tests a selected area. Try to examine the selected color samples outdoors, at various angles and different times of the day. Additionally consider purchasing small quantities of desired colors and paint a section of the house where body, trim and accent colors can be viewed together. Also try to pay close attention to geography, specifically the intensity of the sun. Intense sun washes out colors, so brighter colors are suitable in Sunbelt areas but might stand out like a sore thumb in northern locations.

Towering Heights -- For a tall house a home owner can scale down the height of a house by painting the upper portion of a tall house a deeper tone than the bottom portion. This is also effective on a small lot or when landscaping is immature. Conversely, darker colors on the lower portion tend to ground the house to the earth. Ideally stick to light or white colors for windowsills in order for reflection of the sun's heat and light.

Neighborhood tour -- As a home owner, before you choose your color take a look at homes in your neighborhood or in decorating magazines. This is a great way to find paint colors. If find a house in the neighborhood that suits the selection in mind, ask the homeowner to share the color name and brand of paint they have used. <bio>Discover more great tips at http://www.allaboutthehome.info/ a website offering tips and resources on matters like bedroom decorating ideas, color schemes and selecting kitchen remodeling costs to fit any budget. </bio>

When one is home decorating on a budget, one of the easiest and cheapest ways to change the look of any home is to add color. Choosing the right colors for your home decorating can seem like such a daunting task however, that some people are frozen in indecision. Here are some great, easy guidelines to help teach you how to choose colors for your home.

*Identify a feeling that you want to convey in the home. This will go a long way towards helping you choose the right color scheme. If you are looking for a warm color scheme that wraps you in comfort, try deeper colors in warmer shades such as reds, gold, browns and some greens. Want a light, uplifting feeling? Sunny yellows might be just the ticket. Looking for a calming, serene atmosphere? Pale sky blues, spring greens and lilacs are what you are looking for.

*Find a perfect color scheme by borrowing the colors from a major fabric pattern, rug or wallpaper in the room. Use one of the colors in the pattern for the walls, another for the curtains and pillows, and a third for accessories. Make sure each color is used in at least three places in the room, and is evenly distributed. If you use a bright red as an accent color, you don't want it all on one side of the room, or it will seem unbalanced.

*Don't feel you have to paint every wall in a room. To save time and money, especially if you are unsure of your color choice, paint just the focal wall in the room. It will give you the impact without all the time and expense of an entire room redo.

*To expand space in a small home, keep all walls that can be seen at the same time the same pale, cool color. This works great for open plan homes. If you want to use a more vibrant color in the rooms, paint the outside walls the pale, cool color to visually expand the space, then paint the interior decorative walls the deeper color, or use that color on cabinets and furniture.

*Keep in mind colors in a room offer a psychological effect as well. Here is a quick run down of the most common colors, and how they affect those in the same environment.

Red- The color of love and passion, red tends to cause a lively feeling to any room. It can enhance appetite and feel energetic.

Yellow- The color of optimism. You can't help but to feel good in a sunny yellow room!

Blue- Seen as trustworthy, loyal. Blue is a claming color that feels like sky and water.

Green- The color of nature and peace. Soothing color that is easiest on the eye. Some greens are now used as neutrals in a room.

Purples- The color of royalty and luxury. It can be both uplifting and calming at the same time, depending on whether there is more blue or red in the undertone.

Remember that paint is relatively cheap, and if you don't end up liking the final result, you can always repaint, or use a glaze over the paint job to tone it down. Don't let fear keep you from adding color to your life, and to your home decorating, on a budget!<bio>Kathy Wilson is an author, columnist, and editor of The Budget Decorator.
You're tired of the drab color of your home, and would like to make a change. You need only go to your local home improvement center to see the rainbow of colors that are available at your disposal. In fact, with technology being as advanced as it is today, some stores even allow you to mix and match colors on a virtual color-selecting software application.

Just knowing the above information should be enough to start your journey into finding out more about exterior house painting. If you're especially handy, there is the chance that you might want to do your own exterior home painting. However, if you have a fear of heights, or have a balancing problem (you need to be able to actually keep yourself on the ladder while you paint!) you should probably hire a professional contractor.

Of course, as a home owner interested in having exterior house painting done, the first question you're probably asking yourself is, "How Much will this cost me?" The answer to that important question has to do with several factors, the first of which being the size of your house. The smaller your house, the less you'll have to pay -- makes sense, right?

Paint, like everything else nowadays, is very expensive. Whether you're a professional paint contractor, or a novice looking to paint a room, paint is priced by the gallon. If you get only so-so paint, paint that will last only a couple of years, then the cost will be relatively doable. However, if you want paint that will last in excess of twenty years, and has a high concentration of latex, then you'll obviously be paying an amount that is significantly more.

If you really have no clue as to what brand of paint to choose, you can always leave it to the professionals. That's right -- in addition to paying what might be an exorbitant amount of money for the paint itself, you're also going to need to find a contracted painter that costs even more! Hopefully, you've saved up enough money for this endeavor. Either that, or you have excellent credit, which will enable you to take out a home loan.

Shop around for a reputable painter. Of course, the Internet is a valuable resource for finding local painters, but you can also get information through being nosy. For example, if one of your neighbors just had some exterior house painting done, and you really like how it looks, the contractor probably put up a nice big sign next to their work with their contact information. See how easy it can be to find a painter?

Or, if you have a son or daughter in that happens to be quite good at painting, you might actually end up saving some money by having them enroll in the College Works Painting internship. There, your child can gain valuable skills necessary to embark upon a career in this field. Whichever method you choose, the important thing is to be pleased with the end results.<bio>More information on exterior house painting, home improvement and College Works Painting in your area is just a click away.</bio>

Broken colored horses are associated in the popular imagination with the old American west. In particular, they are associated with Native Americans, with whom they were a popular choice, as the pattern of broken colors made the horses hard to see, either during a hunt or during war.

Broken colored horses - also known as pintos - continue to be popular today, both in the American west and around the world. However, even though "pinto" is the Spanish word for "paint", pinto horses are not quite the same thing as paint horses.

To be registered with the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), a horse must not only have the classic broken-colored coat, it must also have either the sire or the dam registered as an American Paint Horse and have Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred blood somewhere in its background, Quarter Horse for preference.

Thus, while all paint horses are pintos, not every pinto is a paint horse - for example, a chestnut-and-white Shetland pony, while it certainly fits the description of a pinto, is not a paint horse. The same is also true, for obvious reasons, for parti-colored donkeys and mules.

Appaloosa horses, while they were also developed by Native American tribes for a similar purpose, are not classified as pintos, even though an Appaloosa can do much of the work that a paint can. The Appaloosa spots and "blanket pattern" are unique to that breed alone. The same applies to other spotted breeds.

Those not familiar with the term "paint horse" or "pinto" may be uncertain as to what the terms actually mean and what all the fuss is about. In general, paint horses are bi-colored horses, having a coat that is a mixture of white patches and patches of another colour. This should not be confused with the color known as roan, where individual white hairs are interspersed with either chestnut (red roan) or black/grey (blue roan).

A horse with black and white patches is often referred to as a "piebald" and a horse with patches of white and another color is known as a "skewbald." The most common patch colors in skewbalds are brown and chestnut, but patches of palomino (gold) and buckskin are also possible.

Among paint horses, further distinctions are made, tobiano and overo being the main ones. A horse classified has a tobiano is predominantly dark on the belly and neck with the white markings being smaller, while an overo is the reverse. Paint horses are often bred for the beauty of their markings.

Why choose a paint horse? As they have Quarter Horse ancestry, paint horses can take on a number of working roles with ease. They make excellent mounts for stock work, combining beauty with practicality, and perform well on the rodeo circuit in cutting competitions and barrel racing.

Paint horses also make good trail horses or general hacks. They also do well in the show ring, their distinctive coats making them particularly eye-catching. And, of course, many are kept as companion animals by those who admire the beauty and history of the breed. <bio>For more information on horses, try visiting http://www.interestinghorses.com - a website that specializes in providing horse related tips, advice and resources including information on the paint horse. </bio>
