Some pieces of outdoor camping equipment can be quite expensive, but they will last you a long time if you look after them properly. Whether you go camping once in blue moon or whether you want to be out in the open every chance you get, you do much better if you have the right camping gear. Nobody wants to sleep in a tent that lets water, or where there is not room to move once you have got everything in it. If you are taking the family camping then think about buying a six berth rather than a four berth tent if you don't like feeling cramped. Buy the best tent that you can afford and then look after it.

On your return from a camping trip, make sure that you check all your equipment thoroughly before putting it away. You want your outdoor camping equipment to last so get into the habit of maintaining it. There is nothing worse for a tent than an accumulation of damp and mold. Never put away your tent if it is still damp. Let it dry out thoroughly =96 if you don't then the fabric will start to smell and rot. Clean the ground sheet and check that the guy ropes are ok and the pegs aren't broken =96 replace any that are before you want to use them again.

If you look after your outdoor camping equipment then it will serve you well. Make sure that you air your sleeping bags after washing them. Check that the zips are working properly and then pack them away carefully in a dry place.

When you get home at the end of a camping trip you should check over all of your outdoor camping equipment. Whether you have a portable stove or a grill make sure that they are cleaned and oiled before putting them away. Clean and pack up all of your cutlery and crockery. If you have air beds than then make sure that they are clean and that all the air is out of them if you want them to be of service next time.

Wash and put away whatever survival clothing you have as part of your outdoor camping equipment. If wilderness hiking is part of your camping trips then make sure that you have the right kind of hiking boots. Always clean them thoroughly after a trip and stuff them with newspaper before you put them away.

The only way to get the best from your outdoor camping equipment is to keep it clean and serviced. Then the next time that you want to take off in the wilds it will be fit for service again. <bio>How to have a safe, fun and inexpensive vacation, please visit: http://www.yourcampingonline.com and unlock your free report `Camping with the Family' </bio>

Camping offers an easy and affordable escape from the rat race of everyday city life; an escape from people, cars, electronics, work, responsibilities, etc. However, camping today is nothing like the camping your grandfather did when he was young. The collection of outdoor camping equipment you can buy today gives a whole new meaning to the term "roughing it."

There are new camping items pouring into shops every season that allow individuals and families the convenience and efficiency of almost feeling as if they are still at home, of course, minus the lengthy list above. Almost any type of equipment you can think of some manufacturer has already created, and all of the camping items you will ever need can be found in catalogs, camping outlets and online.

You will find more stuff than you thought ever existed. In fact, you may find that you never thought you would need some items until you come across them while shopping. A word of caution though: use your common sense when shopping. It is easy to go overboard and by items you don't need and will never use.

The type of equipment needed for camping varies from one individual or family to the next, but in general, you will find that the first thing you need is a tent; though some choose to forgo this method and seek the extreme extravagance of a pop-up camper or recreational vehicle. The majority though, prefer to keep it simple and a little more wild and earthy. Nothing lets you commune with nature better than taking technology out of the equation. You will also need items such as a cooking stove, sleeping bags, ice chest, and you may even consider a nice air mattress. Camping should be about simplicity, but not at the expense of your back.

In addition to the normal camping necessities you will need, you'll also want to consider what activities you plan on doing while on your outdoor adventure. If you intend to hike, bike, backpack, kayak, climb or fish, which tend to be the most popular recreational activities, then make sure you get everything you need in order to have a good time doing them. Any sports recreation store should easily be able to outfit you and prepare you for your outdoor expedition.

By being well prepared you will be better able to relax and enjoy yourself, rather than struggling with old antiquated camping gear. Make sure you update any old camping equipment in addition to buying any extra items. Some stores are great places to do this, and even allow you to shop online. So what are you waiting for? Gather up the pets and the rest of the family, get stocked up on the gear you need (and don't forget the S'mores) and get out of the city. Go be one with nature--go camping! <bio>More from this author at: http://www.outdoors-mag.com </bio>

Whether you are sitting by the campfire, lounging at the beach, or enjoying an afternoon fishing by the lake, selecting the right camping chair is vital to your comfort and your enjoyment.

You want a chair that is comfortable to sit in for whatever activities you plan to do the most, something that is durable and suits your tastes, and you want our camping chair to have all the accessories and features you need for total relaxation.

There are a wide variety of camping chairs available from an assortment of manufacturers, including several leading outdoor equipment brands. Coleman camping chairs are popular for their well-made designs and added features. Traditional chairs used for camping and outdoor activities are lightweight and sturdy and typically fold for convenience. Camping chairs can also be found in cushiony inflatable designs, rocking models, and many other variations. There are table and chair combinations as well that store easily and open to provide the perfect outdoor dining area.

When considering which camping chair is right for you, it is important to think about what you will be using it for. If you will spend most of your time around the campsite, a simple deck chair will probably suffice. If you plan to spend your days reading by the lake or catching some sun at the beach, a comfortably designed high back sling chair may be what you need.

Lounger camping chairs are also available for even more comfort. These are perfect by the pool.

If your outdoor activities will take you away from your campsite but still leave you needing a camping chair, look into some of the more versatile designs that include cup holders, tables, and other functional features. The Coleman oversize quad chair with cooler is ideal for fishing, concerts, and more.

This durable camping chair provides plenty of comfort for long periods of sitting and features an integrated cooler that can chill 3 or 4 of your favorite drinks.

Before you select a camping chair, consider its weight and think about how far you will typically need to carry the chair. If your favorite fishing destination is half a mile through the woods, you don't want to lug a 10 pound chair with you. If you are camping at the beach but your campsite is a walk from the ocean, you should choose lightweight chairs that are easy to carry.

You should also consider the elements and climate of the location where you will most often use your camping chair. If you will be spending a lot of time near saltwater or in the edge of a lake or stream, you should select a chair designed to withstand the elements. Look for waterproof materials and frames that resist rust.

Whatever type of camping chair you choose, it will be a very important piece of camping equipment that is used for much more than just camping. The portability and comfort of today's camping chairs make them favorites for all sorts of outdoor activities, like concerts, tailgate parties, reunions, or just lounging in the backyard. There are several camping chairs designed specifically for kids so the entire family is included. <bio>For more tips and information about Camping Gear, check out http: http://www.summitcampinggear.com. </bio>

As a novice to camping in the great outdoors you may be tempted to buy no-name brand camping equipment, which is OK in the beginning. However, you will learn fast, that cheap camping equipment does not make a Happy Camper. As in all things cheap, it usually breaks, or wears out far to soon. Once you've been camping a few times and have decided that camping is right for your lifestyle, then you will want to buy quality camping equipment built for the long term. There is no substitute for quality camping equipment folks!

I will share with you, in this article, how to buy high quality name brand camping gear at half price, or less. As an avid Outdoorsman I have purchased a lot of Outdoor Gear in my life. I use to buy all my camping gear from Mail Order Magazines, and many times I paid full price for the camping equipment that I bought. One day while researching outdoor survival techniques on the Internet, I stumbled across and Ebay Auction where they were selling water purification equipment for Backpackers. I decided to search on Ebay for camping equipment, and my life changed from that day on. On that day I registered with Ebay Auctions, and since then I have bought many outdoor related items, and have save an absolute bundle on all my Outdoor Gear.

When buying Ebay Camping Gear you will want to do a few searches to find the exact camping gear that you want to buy or bid on. You can also use the Category List to go direct to the Camping Equipment Category. You must be cautious and read each auction carefully to find out if there are any defects with the Camping Equipment you want to bid on. Ebay Camping Gear is a great way to buy used camping gear as well as outdoor gear in general. Since I do lots of camping, I spend most of my time reading through the Ebay Camping Gear auctions a few times each week. There are also some great deals on new Camping Gear that are either close outs or maybe scratched, or may even have a dent, which does not affect the function, but only the looks. Simply put, there are many reasons for sellers to sell their used gear, which gives you and I an excellent opportunity to buy camping gear cheap!

I have won several Ebay Auctions for things such as a name brand propane camping stove with three burners, and it was only used by the previous owner one time, and was still in the original box. You can find great deals for less than half the retail price in the Department Stores, simply because the camping gear was lightly used.

The best deal I bid on and won at Ebay Auctions, was an expensive three room, name brand, camping tent, and I bought it for only pennies on the dollar because the seller had bought a popup camper, and no longer needed the tent, he simply needed the money to help pay for the new camper. You just never know what kind of great deals you will find on Ebay Camping Gear.

Since I have been buying my Outdoor Gear on Ebay Auctions I like to check out the retail prices in the stores such as Wal-Mart and K-Mart, so I will have a better idea of what camping equipment prices are running at the local stores. I also check on the Internet for camping equipment at the Online Camping Gear Stores, in order to see what prices they offer on their name brand items. After all a deal is not a deal if you pay to much, right!

If you do not have an Ebay Membership you should sign up today, and begin to experience the great bargains offered by the Ebay Sellers. It was totally free to join when I signed up, and I think it's still free to become a member of Ebay Auctions. <bio>This article was written by Jack Spencer who is a Seasoned Camper, and Avid Outdoorsman.
Camping is perhaps one of the most exciting outdoor activities in the world. Adventurous people go on camps into the wilderness and some even hidden forests and the outback to get close to nature. Even if going camping means having to come out of ones comfort zone even just for awhile, camping enthusiasts still get excited to try another outdoor adventure.

Going camping entails a lot of preparation. What with the numerous camping gear and accessories, preparing for this activity can actually be a challenge. From camping tents to clothes to the food to the Coleman camping heaters, campers must be careful enough in deciding what to bring.

Since it can get a little cold once you've set up the camp base, it is important that you bring a trusted camping heater with you. Coleman heaters are said to be the best to bring during camps because they give the utmost heating comfort as alternative to traditional campfires. From the trusted name in camping gear, Coleman heaters have been serving hundreds to thousands of campers around the world because they are safe, convenient to use, and guaranteed to be more than useful.

So why are Coleman heaters the best to bring during camps? Here are some reasons:

> Coleman heaters are guaranteed to be of the highest quality. They are manufactured with the best materials and to the highest standards because Coleman only wants to give campers the best heating comfort as possible.

> Heaters from Coleman are very affordable. The Coleman heater's price is just right with all the comfort and the camping benefits it offers.

> Decide on what power you want to use. Do you want to use gas or propane? Or do you want to bring electric heaters? Probably the most convenient to bring and use is an electric heater from Coleman because you'd just be needing batteries or electricity. But your decision will still depend on your geographical location and how much you are willing to bring for the heater to work.

> To ensure safety, always buy a brand new heater. Used heaters are not reliable and might cause you danger.

> Check if you can use the camping heater while inside the tent. Coleman heaters are best to use a cabin tent because they are of the highest quality and won't bring your tent on fire. Some heaters are not designed for indoor use so make sure you take the labels on the camping heaters.

> Is the camping heater portable? Make sure that the heater you will be buying is portable enough to bring with you during camps.

> They are very durable. Since heaters from Coleman are of the highest quality, they are expected to last a long time.

> Coleman heaters vary in style, color, and size. Campers can choose from a large selection of camping heaters only from Coleman to suit everyone's needs.

> They are very portable. Coleman camping heaters are sized just right enough to carry and bring along.

So when you are going camping, make sure to buy and bring Coleman camping heaters so getting warm will never be a problem. <bio>For more tips and information about Camping Heaters, check out http://www.summitcampinggear.com </bio>

If you want to go on a camping vacation, you will be faced with the decision on where to go. Many experienced campers have their favorite spots but if you want to try something new or are a novice camper, you will need to know how to choose a great camping spot. The first thing you will want to determine is whether or not you will be renting a recreational vehicle or sleeping outside in a tent. There are different grounds available for RV owners and those who are camping in tents. There are also features that you may want to be aware of when traveling with certain age groups. Some areas are more amenable to adults only while others are family friendly. The more populated areas are generally the ones that are best for smaller children and families.

Distance is another consideration. Most people do not want to drive long distances in order to camp. Airplane travel is also not conducive to camping since all the equipment that needs to accompany the travelers will not typically fit in the allotted luggage constraints. Therefore, flying is usually cost prohibitive. There are camping spots available throughout the United States often within a decent driving distance of most major cities. When looking for a camping spot, there are a few places you can go to use as a resource.

Travel agents will have ample information on campgrounds available and will be able to coordinate sightseeing, guided tours, and adventures. Camping stores will often have recommendations on popular local camping sites. The Internet is a valuable way to find information on camping. There are numerous sites online where you can get information on all camp grounds within a specific area. You can get editor's and user reviews that will help you make a final decision on where to go. <bio>Visit Thompson Outdoor Supply for all your camping gear: http://www.thompsonoutdoors.com/index.php?cPath=22 </bio>

We all enjoy camping out under the stars and pale moon. Am I right or am I right? There's not a human being alive that doesn't adore a good bout with Mother Nature. Just lounging by the campfire, singing a tune and soaking up the peace and quiet. Alright, I admit that there may be a few folks that don't enjoy the outdoors. As for the rest of us, we need that relaxing break from the andquot;real worldandquot; chaos and stress. And with the right outdoor camping equipment, a trip up into the wilderness can be an utter blast. Everyone get your tents, sleeping bags, and flashlights ready; we're headed outdoors.

Less than a month ago I was camping in a nearby woods with my daughter. She was the only one of my family members I could get to go with me. Fortunately she loved the experience. We're lucky to have a friend that owns a large portion of land, because he lets us camp on it whenever we please. Now, you may be wondering why we ventured out into the bush during the winter season.

Hey, no one ever said camping was forbidden in February. You simply have to go prepared with the right outdoor camping equipment. Pay attention and I'll tell you what these consist of. First you need to dress for the occasion. Wear what you feel comfortable outdoors in. Heavy coats, stocking caps, and gloves are generally essential this time of the year. And be certain you wear shoes that function well over outdoor terrain. Insulated hiking boots are perfect. Then there's the tent.

There are plenty of outstanding tents on the market now days that withstand strong winds and harsh weather. Choose one suitable to your number of campers. Down sleeping bags are great. These babies will definitely keep you warm and cozy all night long. A must when it comes to winter outdoor camping equipment. Don't forget to pack plenty of suitable cuisine. And finally there are the flashlights and matches.

Personally, I believe Surefire flashlights are the best in the business. Refer to their website for more information. And while andquot;strike anywhereandquot; matches are great and convenient, I do recommend a weather-proof lighter such as one from Brunton or Windmill. These are phenomenal.

So there you have it. All the outdoor camping equipment you'll need to survive the winter weather. A few other places you can search for these products are R.E.I. and the net.
When going on a camping trip, it is essential that you have enough supplies to last the duration of your trip. If you want your camping trip to run smoothly, like clockwork, then it is almost essential that you learn how to make a camping checklist.

Camping is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the campers get away from civilization and enjoy nature by spending one or more nights at a campsite. They may use a tent, a primitive structure, a travel trailer or recreational vehicle, or no shelter at all. Camping is often restricted by law to designated sites in order to prevent campers from damaging the environment.

Camping as a recreational activity became popular in the early 20th century. It continues to be a response to the increasing urbanization and isolation of Western society. Camping is often associated with a sense of nostalgia or of romanticism for 'the times of our fathers'. It simultaneously evokes images of 'oneness with nature' and 'man against nature' - independence and self-sufficiency. Campers frequent national parks and other publicly owned natural areas. Camping divides those who enjoy it from those who do not more distinctly than most other common leisure activities.

1. Make The Master List

Chances are, if your troop or family needs to go on a camping trip, you will need a camping checklist. This is a pice of paper that children can take home with them and show their parents so they will have everything they will need for the trip.

2. Double Check Everything

It's not good enough to use the list once - go over it again and make sure you have everything in the car before you leave.

3. Sample Items

- Flashlight - Soap - Extra batteries - Food - Monday Breakfast - Oatmeal

4. Survival Items

Only one person needs to bring a first aid kit. Similarly, at least one of you should have a cellular phone in case of an emergency. Just because you are camping in rustic style doesn't mean that you can disregard the added levels of safety that technology can provide. Accidents can and will happen and when you are far away from a hospital every minute matters. <bio>For more great camping related articles and resources check out http://hikingadvisor.info </bio>

An outdoor recreational activity, camping involves people spending the night in tents at a campsite. They do it in an attempt to temporarily avoid the din and bustle of city life, and to get close to nature. If you are looking to spend a comfortable time in camping, you can opt for the recreational vehicles.

The recreational vehicles are luxurious and have all types of modern facilities like air conditioning, bathrooms, kitchens, showers, satellite TV and internet connection. Some feel that the real experience of outdoor camping comes from tent camping. Various touring bicycles, boats, and bush planes are used. For camping, you need to carry with you some basic camping equipment. Tent, sleeping bag, portable stove, flashlight, axe for cutting wood, and a rope.

A tent consists of sheets of fabric that are attached to different poles to produce a shelter. Tents can be of different types like the flysheet, gazebo, fishermen's tent, or a beach tent. Sleeping bags are warm and well insulated. They provide protection from wind, perspiration and exposure to view. A portable stove is a lightweight stove used for camping. They are usually single burner stoves using solid or liquid fuel for ignition. A flashlight is useful in the dark to illuminate the surrounding.

It is important to plan your camping well in advance. Always expect the unexpected. Consider the worst possible cases that you may have to face and think of ways how you can deal with the problem. Send copies of your route to your family members. Register yourself before going out for a hike and similarly sign in after coming back. Use a two-way radio to communicate with your partner.

Always be prepared to face weather change while you are camping. Make sure that you are carrying the necessary camping gears like waterproof backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and other such things. Carry a waterproof jacket and pants with you. Carry layer clothes so that you can remove or add a layer according to the weather condition. Carry along with you a topographical map of the area so that you don't easily get lost while camping. A whistle may come handy.

Beware of insect bites and stings. Always use a DEET-based insect repellent and check for bites behind your ears, under the arm, and in the groin area. Camping provides the best way of engaging in adventures and getting close to Nature. <bio>Sharon Albright is the owner of http://www.the-best-camping-gear.info..
Camping is a great outdoor activity that can be enjoyed both by couples, a group of friends or by the entire family. The following are some tips for beginners about how to prepare for their camping trip.

Most first-time campers usually being their foray into camping as tent campers or car campers since all their camping equipment is loaded into their car (instead of an RV). Uppermost on their list of things needed would obviously have to be a tent. They don't have to choose and expensive tent as long as it provides adequate weather protection and shields the campers from natural elements such as the wind, sun, and rain. You also need a secure tent that can keep you away from flies, mosquitoes and other pests. Your tent will also be, in all likelihood, your best place for privacy and where you will store your clothes and camping gear to keep them safe from the weather

Sleeping under the stars can be great sometimes, but sooner or later you will want a tent. The same can be said of sleeping bags. It should have enough padding to cushion you comfortably against the hard ground. Make sure that all the inflatable pads and closed-cell pads are working properly. If you plan to do most of your camping during summer, a lightweight and inexpensive rectangular sleeping bag will do. And don't forget to bring a pillow.

Plan what you will be eating. Experienced campers or backyards chefs will likely have lots of recipes for outdoor cooking. It's also possible to get on simply a cooler of drinks, sandwiches, and snacks.

Thankfully, you can find a grill and picnic table at most public campsites. If grilling is your thing, you will be best-served by bringing a bag of charcoal and a spatula and you'll be ready to cook your steaks, hot dogs, and hamburgers on the grill. For prolonged period of camping or for your next camping trip, you might like to try bringing a propane stove, a skillet and a few pots so that you can expand your cooking choices.

Before you embark on any camping trip, it is best to have a checklist of things to do so that you don't forget anything. Another useful thing to bring along is an experienced camper. You can easily learn everything you need to know from them. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://theoutdoorslifestyle.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://recreationandmore.com/ and http://thetravelinglifestyle.com/ </bio>

We made the decision that we needed to make some adjustments to our backyard. The backyard is secluded so we enjoy spending time in it. We looked through many landscaping magazines, how ever we weren't able to find a landscaping idea that we wanted to add to our yard. The thought of having to keep up the maintenance with a water piece wasn't appealing. Not to mention mosquitoes and bugs are a plenty in our area, so a pond wasn't a great idea. We went to a home improvement store and started looking through the lawn and garden department. While we were browsing around I noticed that they had a section for outdoor fireplacesincluding a simple ring to create an outdoor fire pit. My husband and i knew that we had found the new addition for our backyard.

In past years we had done a lot of camping. Since moving into a rural neighborhood we no longer go camping. One of the things that both of us loved to do was to gaze at the campfire and just talk for hours. We agreed that an outdoor fire pit would re-create those old camping evenings in our own backyard. We are able to get a ton of firewood from the huge woods on the edge of our property, so we wouldn't need to spend any money on firewood.

Multiple options for designs were available at the hardware store to select from. There was an outdoor fire pit twhich offered the ability to bbq with the grill on top. Just recently we had bought a bbq gas grill so the fire pit frill option wasn't a need for us. We just wanted to keep it simple. We bought a big fire ring as well as fireproof bricks. our backyard area has a small depression close to the wooded area. We figured this would be a wonderful place to have our outdoor fire pit. The firebricks were positioned in a sqaure shape around the lowered area. Then the fire ring was sat on top of the bircks. By placing the ring on the bricks we were protecting from grass fires and also makes the outdoor fire pit easy to mow around. We also gota couple of park benches to put on either side of the fire ring.

We spend a lot of our evenings circled around our outdoor fire pit. The interesting thing is that we assumed the area would provide us a spot to to spending evenings talking. Now don't get me wrong there is lots of talkingthat happens around the fire pit, the majority of it takes place with our neighbors. There is something about the smell of a wood fire which brings neighbors out of their yards and into oursto relax around the fire pit. We are still glad that we decided to purchase the outdoor fire pit it's allowed us to get to know our neighbors much better then if we hadn't. <bio>For more articles and information about outdoor recreation, camping and more take a moment to visit our website http://www.outdoorpastime.com/ </bio>

If you are trying to find a perfect bonding activity with your kids, you ought to take them camping. Spending the night outdoors with your children can be a great way to renew your closeness with them while making sure that they learn something. Camping outdoors can be a great way to increase your children's awareness about nature and their surroundings. You can also make use of camping as a special activity that will harness your child's life skills.

If you are planning to have a night out with your children this weekend, you should first orient yourself with the following tips that can help you make the most out of camping with your kids:

a. Plan your trip with your kids. Make sure that your kids are highly involved with the activity. When deciding where you will set your camp, consider their interests. However, do not forget your children's actual outdoor experiences along with their corresponding ages. When plannng your itinerary, make sure that you will allow your children to pick the activities that they want to engage in. When shopping for your equipment, tools, food and beverages, bring your children and let them make their choices. Encourage them to prepare and pack their things but make sure that you provide proper guidance so you can be certain that they will not forget anything.

b. When going camping for the first time, try a backyard camp-out first. This will help you gauge if your children are ready for a real outdoor night out. Such will also help them prepare themselves for a night out of their usual bedroom scenery. When having a backyard camp-out, better teach your kids the basics of camping such as how to set up their very own tent. Show them how they should use other camping equipment as well and let them sleep in their actual sleeping bags. Try cooking outdoors as well and try a few camp activities.

c. When you campout, make sure that your children fully understand the essence of an outdoor experience. When taking them out, make sure that each experience will make them familiar with the outdoors so they will be at ease during the night. Try to help them get rid of their fears related to camping out. Teach them well about respecting and preserving nature. Make sure that they are also fully equipped with the necessary outdoor skills and ethics needed in adapting to wildlife and interacting with other campers. Never forget to teach them first aid practices.

d. Plan activities and chores that are suitable for children. When you camp out, make sure that you assign actual camp chores for each of your children. Match their responsibilities with their age and their physical capabilities. Among the most common chores that you can assign are collecting firewood, helping your prepare the food and snacks, helping you set up the tent by hammering tent stacks, filling the water containers, picking fruits, and others.

However, whenever you assign tasks, make the chores fun and engaging. Turn the simple activities into contests and give corresponding awards. As for the camping activities, you can include day hikes in the woods or low mountains, fishing, picnics, and scavenger hunts.<bio>Springfields Army Surplus store is a leading online store for camping equipment.
Planning on going camping? Great! One of the first things you need to do is choose a spot. Here are several factors you should consider when choosing a camping spot, as well as a few tips for finding a good one.

Accessibility How are you going to get to your camping spot? Is it a "drive up camping spot" or is access via a foot trail. If access is via a foot trail, I would suggest finding a spot with a half mile or less hike for your first trip.

Views / Attractions What's at the camping spot? Does it have good views? No sense going and camping in a boring place when there are many beautiful camping spots available.

Water Does your camping spot have access to clean water? If not, you'll have to pack in all of the water you need, including plenty to put out the fire with.

Firewood Is there access to firewood at the camping spot. If you want a campfire, you don't want to have to carry in the wood you'll need! Be sure that you are allowed to harvest firewood for the area you are going. In most areas, you are allowed to pick up dead wood, but not cut down live trees. Live trees do not burn well, anyway.

Campability If you're going into "uncharted areas" or plan on camping where there is no established camping spot, be sure that the terrain is such that you can pitch your tent without rolling down a hillside or sleeping on the rocks all night.

Tips for finding a spot Here are a few places you can start looking for camping spots: Local state parks Local national forests Your local city/county water supply lake Ask friends who camp Search online for "camping your state here" etc.

Be safe...and have fun! <bio>Visit Outdoors And In for all your camping gear: http://www.outdoorsandin.com/camping.html </bio>

Recreational Vehicle (RV) Camping is like car camping except in most RV's you can sleep. RV camping is a very popular kind of camping probably because you can bring along some of the bigger luxury items like comfortable chairs and bicycles. And some of the fancier RV's have luxuries as you will never find in a tent, like a bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen. You can leaf your supplies, kitchen tools, towels and other personal stuff in the RV, you don't have to pack everything when you decide to mover to another campsite.

RV camping is a great way for families to go camping without all of the putting up tents and sleeping on the ground kind of stuff. It is comfortable for parents with small children and for their grandparents and everyone in between. It is also an enjoyable way of camping for people who have disabilities, they will be able to keep on camping without all of the restrictions tent camping can invoke, like the physical burden of putting up the tent.

One of the main advantages of RV camping is that families can use their RV for other purposes when they aren't being used for camping. You can use your RV as a guest room on your property or as a spare room for one of your older children, you can stay in your RV when your house is being painted, or when you have to stay with family who do not have a guest room. An RV gives you the freedom to stay in your own home on wheels and park any where you want.

An RV is so practical, you can pack up your RV with all of your supplies and travel from place to place. There are several types of RV's. The more expensive RV's (motor homes) are motorized and you can drive them from camp to camp. Other RV's can be towed behind the car or truck. This is very convenient because you can park the unit and then leave it, and use the truck to go shopping and explore. Some RV models fold open to create a tent. All different types come in many forms, sizes and additions.

RV camping has many advantages, for instance it is much cheaper than staying in hotels. You can take all your supplies and some luxury with you, in fact you can take your whole campsite with you from place to place. And you don't have to put up tents and make a kitchen out of nothing and sleep on the ground. There are many RV parks and they are nice places to rest and enjoy yourself. RV camping is much easier than camping with a tent and backpack. And you can enjoy it with the whole family or with your friends. The freedom that comes with having an RV is wonderful, there are many ways you can use your house on wheels. RV camping is a real family activity and when you try it ones, you wish you would have done it years ago. <bio>From childhood on Melissa Thornton has always been an outdoor person.
Here comes summer, and we all are aware what that means! Camping and great outdoor fun season. Al right! It's not quite summer as yet, but its close enough. So long as the temperature is good and the sun is shining outside, you're pretty much good to go! Are your camping supplies ready yet? As for me, I am one of those people who always have the necessities at hand. Right from large tents to sleeping bags, to campfire cooking utensils, it's all ready to go. I just like to be prepared.

Are you a big fan of the outdoors? Sure the city life can be a blast, but the continuous smog and commotion can also get on your nerves. At times you just need a break from it all. Among my favorite adventures is to get a big group of family and friends together for a weekend camping trip. This is definitely where some quality large tents and a number of sleeping bags come in handy. By the way how big is your tent? Do you own one of those compact two men deals, or did you invest in a nice 8 men tent for the entire family? I am inclined to go with the large tents. I like to keep my family together so that this helps to keep a close eye on things. A few large tents are ideal when you travel with a couple of other families as well. This allows each family to have their own living space. Not to mention, they make them so nice these days. You will be able to find heavily constructed large tents that will withstand all sorts of weather.

Do you remember the last time you updated your camping supplies? It may be high time to take a gander and see what all is out there. Stores such as Cabelas and R.E.I. both carry a plethora of large tents and camping supplies to suit any nature lover. You can browse through a wide range of outdoor accessories that will for sure improve your camping experience. Nowadays everything from outdoor showers to tent heaters is available. If you are looking for more immediate gratification, then it's time you gave the World-Wide-Web a shot. In cyberspace you will find a huge collection of large tents and camping equipment to tickle anyone's fancy. You can browse through a number of websites to pinpoint the absolute best deals. Make that trip with Mother Nature one to remember with quality camping supplies at fantastic prices. <bio>Tracie M.
Like everything else in camping, it all comes down to a good preparation. If you go camping you need to know how to set up your camping tents, you need to be absolutely sure that you have every little item that belongs to the tent (sticks, stacks, rope) and that you know exactly all the techniques on how to build your camping tents. If you do not prepare, building camping tents will be a time consuming catastrophe and it can end up with you all having a horrible experience and going home before the camping trip actually starts. So, make sure you are equipped with the right stuff and knowledge in how to use it.

Practice and preparation

Before you go anywhere you need to put your tent up at least one time, if you have a yard that would be perfect if you don't go to a park and build it there. This way you know if the tent is complete, if you have everything and it saves you an enormous amount of stress later on if you know how to build your tent. Making mistakes is not so bad if it is in your own yard and you do not have to sleep in the tent that night.

Because you leave the luxury of home behind when you go on a camping trip you need to be sure your stay will be as safe and as comfortable as possible. Especially safety is essential on a camping trip. When this is your first camping trip we advise you to choose a location not to far from your home place, this way you can return home when you stumble upon some problems.

Find the right spot

It is best when you find some plain and even land to start building your camping tents, high land especially when rain is predicted is an absolute pre, this will help you to keep your tent as well as your sleeping bags dry. So look for even, plain and high land.

A Ground Cloth is No Luxury

This is an essential piece of camping gear, it keeps the floor of the actual tent clean and dry and it protects it against rocks and pointy objects. It protects the tents from all kinds of damage. It is a cheap piece of camping gear and you can buy it at every local camping store and even most hardware stores will have it for sale.

Hammer Stacks in the Ground

Almost all of the camping tents come with stacks and you need to hammer those stacks in to the ground. But the most cheap tents also have cheap stacks and they bent and rust and eventually break. So do your self a favor and buy some extra good aluminum or steel stacks. They need to be firm because you need to hammer the stacks to the ground and fix the tent rope tightly so the tents will not blow out even in heavy windy conditions.

Do you still want to go?

All the above sounds like camping is horrible and dangerous and it really isn't you just need to be prepared. Camping is a real fun and wonderful way to spend time with your family and friends, you are in the outdoors, doing stuff together and experience all kinds of things that only camping can give you. So prepare and enjoy...<bio>From childhood on Melissa Thornton has always been an outdoor person.
I like Camping, no doubt about it; and I like it all year. Most people only go camping when the weather is warm and sunny, but not me. I like the atmosphere between people out there, where you are far from home and all the daily stuff is out of your mind for a few days. I simply love it.

Back in time when I was a rookie in this lifestyle, a buddy of mine, Steven and his wife, invited me and my wife on a camping trip to the coast. I said sure, why not try it out. After a day, which I thought was great because of all these nice people around, the night was still to come. After sleeping on a hard surface, which by the way was fairly cold as well, I woke up with a painful and very sore back. I was groggy because I did not get enough rest during the worst night thinkable.

After that I did not think that this camping business was anything special, on the contrary I thought it was only for people who 'liked' to torture themselves, and it was definitely not my idea of fun and relaxation. I was sure that camping was only going to be a part of my life this one time only.

I it was not for my good buddy and friend Steven, I probably would not be going camping today. Steven that was a veteran when it came to camping, told me that if the sore back thing was my only dislike about the hole deal, then he knew exactly what I needed -- a Camp Bed. Since I was already in on this deal for three more nights anyway, I agreed on giving it a go. I admit my mind was already determined that camping was not for me, so this camp bed had better pull up some magic trick or something like that to convince me otherwise.

We got our hands on a camp bed and I slept in a full night, without waking up one single time during the night. They had to wake me up the next morning. I had a wonderful sleep and my back felt better -- they made me admit it, much against my proud will.

And here I am many years later, still going camping. I can truly say that a camp bed changed my life that day, and made a huge impact on how I chose to live a more outdoor life in the future.

So if you are bit in doubt whether you should get a camp bed or not -- don't be.

Thank you for your time. <bio>Find much more information about Camp Beds http://www.camp-bed-e.com on this website.
There are countless numbers of different models of knives available on the market. Unless you know exactly what to look for and what you need, choosing the right knife can be nearly impossible. But if you're armed with the tips in this article, you'll be able to easily choose a knife that perfectly fits your needs.

The first thing you should determine is what you'll be using the knife for - will it be for camping

survival, hunting, defense or some other activity? Once you've decided what activities you plan to use the knife for, you can determine what features you need the knife to have.

Each outdoor activity requires a specific set of features. Here are some common outdoor activities, along with suggested features that you might need.

Hunting: A hunting knife will need to have a blade shape suitable for skinning animals. The size of the knife will be largely determined by the game you are hunting.

Boating: A knife for boating will need to be stainless steel, to resist corrosion. The knife should be sharp, and you'll probably want a partially serrated blade for cutting rope.

Fishing: You will probably want two separate knives for fishing - a fillet knife and a general purpose knife. The general purpose knife should be a small to medium knife with a stainless steel blade.

Survival: A survival knife should ideally be a large, very tough knife. It should be highly resistant to rust, and tough enough to handle a lot of abuse. If you're stranded in the wilderness, you're not likely to be able to take care of your knife very well, plus you may need to do things with it that you normally wouldn't.

Camping: There is probably not one perfect camping knife. You'll have to make a choice based on the type of camping you do, as well as what other tools you have, such as a machete, saw, or axe.

You always want to be sure that the knife you pick is suitable for the activity you plan to use it for. <bio>Visit Thompson Outdoors for a wide selection of discount knives from SOG and other top quality brands: http://www.thompsonoutdoors.com/-c-21_28.html </bio>

You will find that when it comes to camping, you don't just want to sleep in an tent, but you will want to get a commercial RV and use the commercial campgrounds as an alternative camping experience. You will want to make sure that you think about the alternative camping ways to the sleeping tent. You will want to make sure that you think about some of the basic tips to camping. You will want to think about camping in a way for the traditional camping and the modern camping ways. You will find that there are many elements like the wind and the rain that could ruin a traditional camping vacation; however, it will not ruin an RV camping trip. You can go camping no matter what the weather is like.

When it comes to a tent, you will find that the windy and the rain can really put the tent to a test, however, with a newer material tent you will find that fiberglass and aluminum poles will help you to keep a good tent up, however, you will find that sometimes the tent is just not strong enough, however, you will find that the RV will hold up no matter how hard the wind and the rains come down.

Rain is something that you will find as a challenge. Even if your tent does hold up, you may find that it is not waterproof and soon leaks and such will develop. You will find that when it comes to the modern RV vacation, you won't have to worry about a thing. Even if you do end up getting a waterproof tent, you will find that it can get very stuffy. You will want to keep in mind that the tent was the wave of the future years ago; however, it is the RV or camper that is now the wave of camping trends. You will need to keep in mind that you can go camping no matter what in an RV.

It is very important that you learn about the camping options and deciding what type of camping it is that you desire for your family. You may need to go traditionally camping because of the money, however, you will want to think about modern ways of camping. <bio>Robert Carlton pens especially for http://www.alicante-spain.com , a web publication about Elche and Costa Blanca.
