The fragrance of lemon has been used in dish soaps, laundry detergents and even in household cleaners. Generally lemon fragrance is thought to be an indication that the dishes or clothes have been cleansed of the dirt recently. There are a number of other citrus fruits, but amazing to notice that it has taken so long for other fragrances to catch up.

Recently we got a few lemon and orange flavored toothpaste tubes. Body Shoppe, the joint famous for their aromatic oils, have started offering Satsuma oil, lotion and shower gel and that too with oozing fresh orange fragrance.

Orange scent is equally appealing as lemon to me. Lemon in reality is sour to taste and artificial lemon tang is not at all comparable to the natural tang. As far as orange fragrance is concerned its second only to those fleshy, ripe and revitalizing fruits brought directly from Florida groves.

Given a choice, I would definitely choose to have my laundry and home emit the fragrance of orange and have no second thoughts about it.

Only if the aroma and essence of lemon improves, it would be more appealing again. But as of now the orange tang and aroma is the finest and to me it gets the better of lemon's flavor and scent. Here is a great gardening related site http://www.verygreenthumb.com.

As a child, my most wanted candy was the one called Fruitella. You could have strawberry candy or a peach candy or the juicy orange flavored candy. It felt seriously divine to have these candies.

Now as a grown up, I always am on the search for that fresh orange aroma. But I always end up buying one more lemon aroma dish soap, laundry detergent, window cleaner and even toothpaste. (Orange is hard to procure, appears to be selling like hot cakes!).

For once, we were lucky to have found an orange scented bathroom spray and I ensure that I have a good stash of orange body oil. But my laundry soap has the lemon scent, I add lemon essence to chicken and you always find a lemon kind under the sink in kitchen.

Will grapefruit or even lime ever be popular as stimulating fragrances and essence? Orange has gradually become the choice of many manufacturers and marketers, thus capturing a miniscule part of lemon market. I hope the future will definitely provide us with aroma of fruits like watermelon, grape and may be even pomegranate!!! Meanwhile I buy orange whenever available and have nothing to choose from but lemon. Its time now to oust lemon dominance as the only fresh fragrance in the market, isn't it? <bio>Melissa loves working for: http://www.sdmdirectory.com http://www.massreleases.com </bio>

We have always been accustomed though of using air fresheners that we purchase from the department stores. However, there are natural products that you can use that can give the same fresh smelling effect. To make your home naturally smelling fresh, you can use an equally naturally made substance.

Follow the simple recipes below to see how effective natural products can be. They can give your home a sweet smell while keeping your budget on the sweet side too.

You can add water to a potpourri burner and place two drops of fragrance oil (such as chamomile) on the water. After that, you can light your warming candle. With the water evaporating, your home will smell sweet as the scent is sent to the air. You can also add fragrance to your home without a special set-up. You've always had that silk floral arrangement of those plastic flowers in vases, so why not use them? You can hide the scent there by putting a few drops of oil. Now your flowers will be as if it really smells nice.

This can give your room a wonderful smell for quite a long time. You can also do it straw wreaths and other dried arrangements. You can always refresh them when you feel you need to. In other places where you have decorative arrangements, aside from making your room look beautiful, maximize it and make your home smelling fresh too.

Another trick is by using a cotton ball; you can put a few drops of fragrance or essential oil and place it at the back of your radiator. When the radiator (or also your heater) operates, it will emit the vapor with the scent. However, if you will be using this, you must be prepared to replenish the scent every so often.

A popular alternative, and a very cost efficient way to replace your chemical based air freshener in your home is by using a few slices of select citrus fruits like orange or grapefruit, or lemon and putting them on a pot of water over a stove. Upon simmering, this will gently release a citrusy scent around your home.

You can also have a home-made air freshener, just exactly like the one you purchase expensively and regularly. You can mix together baking soda and lemon juice 9at one tablespoon each) and two cups of hot water, shaken well together in a spray bottle. You can spray it liberally around your home as an alternative.

For sweet smelling laundry, you can put three drops of essential or fragrance oil to a clean damp washcloth and when you are drying your laundry in your automatic dryer, you can include the washcloth there and your clothes will absorb the scent. A common and preferred scent is lavender. This scent also has a disinfecting effect on clothes. There are a lot of alternatives that you can use to make your home smell clean. Nature has a lot of products that you can use, inexpensively, and safely.<bio>A breath of fresh air can boost your spirits. Comfort yourself with organic air fresheners.</bio>

It seems that in today's show biz world, it's not enough just to sing, or act, or dance, you have to be an entrepreneur and become a brand all your own. One place where this is apparent is in the fragrance industry. It seems like everyone who's anyone has their own fragrance these days, and usually more than one. Some bonds between the names and fragrances of celebrity perfumes are pretty clear, while others are a bit more tenuous. Here's a breakdown of some scents to help you smell like your favorite celeb.

In the celebrity fragrance market, Jennifer Lopez is a prolific perfume designer, with several scents, each theoretically connected to an aspect of J Lo's lifestyle and passions. Still was introduced in 2003. It is a floral scent of freesia, honeysuckle, orange flower, rose, and jasmine. The floral fragrances are complemented by an eclectic mix of scents like sake, earl grey, and white pepper. Miami Glow is more of a fruity scent, with coconut, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, and black currant, that also has some floral scents of orange flower and heliotrope. Finally, the sweetness is tempered a bit by amber, musk and wood. Her newest scent, Live Luxe, is meant to embody the feelings Lopez has about dancing, as well as her passion for all things luxurious. It has peach, pear, apple, and melon scents, along with freesia and honeysuckle, as well as sandalwood, vanilla, and musk.

Jessica Simpson appears to be cashing in on her reputation as a sweetie with her Dessert Treats beauty line, which includes fragrances that smell like your favorite sugary treats. Her two perfumes are Candy and Cupcake, while her other beauty products come in scents such as banana split, bubble gum, and creamsicle. They are apparently all edible as well and taste just like their names.

Britney Spears has used her provocative image to market her fragrances, Curious and Fantasy. Curious was Britney's first perfume, and it is a floral featuring the magnolia from Spears' home state of Louisiana, along with vanilla and musk. Curious In Control is a darker and more complex fragrance, with essences of orchid, crème brulee, and black vanilla bean. Fantasy, marketed as a sort of love potion, is a fruitier scent, with lychee fruit, quince, and kiwi. The heart scents are sweet, with flavor of cupcake, and chocolate orchid. The scent is rounded out with musk and woods. <bio>Cathy Peterson writes about http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/Perfumania.com.html, http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/FragranceNet.com.html and http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com </bio>

Love summer? Why not dress like it? Only use this option if you like to get a lot of attention because this little number will get people talking.

For one of the greatest fancy dress ideas, you can dress like one of the seasons. Summer is a hot and beautiful one.

It's bright, sparkly and you will be the sunshine of the party! Here's how you do create this little dress idea.

Start with a beautiful yellow or orange dress. The brighter the better. It can be knee length to ankle length or whatever you prefer. However, if it is hot outside, you will probably want it to be a bit shorter.

If the weather is permitting, a great sleeveless dress would be a good idea. You can then add some accessories to your dress in order to make it look hot and steamy! You can be as sexy as you want with this one.

Red, yellow or orange sequin designs are great for your Summer fancy dress ideas. You can stitch them on yourself for a nice touch. Try doing them around the bottom hem of the dress in a sunburst design for the added effects.

Next, get an orange headband and twist some orange pipe cleaners around it and have them stick up like the sun's rays. Yes, you will literally be the sunshine of that party.

You can do your hair any way you want and then add the head band. This is really cute if you get the shiny and metallic orange pipe cleaners.

Then you can add some dangling earrings in the brightest summer colors you can find. Try red or yellow to offset the color of your dress. Any warm color should do fine.

Add chunky bangle bracelets and string beaded necklaces. This truly is one of the most beautiful fancy dress ideas when you add some orange or brown eye shadow, and some shimmering body and face lotion.

Another great tip is to wear a citrus smelling perfume or some other summer scent. It won't add anything to the look, but the effect is great when you're speaking to someone. You might as well smell the part as well right?

This one is guaranteed to be hot and steamy! Have some fun with it. People are sure to remember this for a very long time. If you find yourself in need of some more great ideas, http://www.fancydressideas.net/ has fantastic choices. <bio>Love to look fantastic?
It's Just a Feeling - Brainstorming and Selection of Essential Oils

In part one of this series we discussed the importance of getting to know the individual essential oils, both in practical terms... properties and safety for example and by nuance... the fragrance and individual "stamp" that an oil will leave in our subconscious emotional memory.

This is of tremendous help when brainstorming possibilities for a new essential oil blend.

In my experience, working within the synergy of an essential oil blend is a feel more than anything... a feel for the essential oils that you are using as well as for the finished effect that you are looking for.

It always amazes me how even the slightest adjustment can make a huge difference in the outcome.

The very first thing I always do is visualize how I want it to come out... I imagine the finished blend in a bath oil or lotion, and decide on what effect I'm looking for.

Uplifting? Deep and sensual? Fruity and fun?

The possibilities are endless, if there are any drawbacks to blending essential oils, it's not that we are limited, it's that there are so many choices!

Surprisingly enough, I find the bathtub the best place to do this (I love this job!) Or my other favourite is going for a walk in the peace and quiet and fresh air, contemplating scents, often pulling ideas from the scent and temperament of the air around me.

Ever tried a full moon blend? I haven't but it is next on my list... let me see now, my mind is already turning over ideas. What oils are bright and phosphorescent but full and mellow at the same time? That's the way to get inspired, take your cues from nature and the essence that is already around you.

As I type, it's on the tip of my brain. A light floral and maybe a mint, something fresh and tingly. With a wee hint of seduction, maybe an amber or touch of oak moss.

You may flounder for awhile with it, but suddenly it will come to you, just the scent that you are looking for. If you get stuck, now is the time to go and sample your assortment of oils to see if anything jumps out at you. Sometimes you will be amazed at how the blend will almost pull itself together.

Next step... a piece of paper and a pen! Write down all of your thoughts and ideas, you may use them all or just some.

Make a list of the essential oils you'd like to try, anything that pops into your mind. Many times I seem to do this by colour, often grouping dark essential oils together, or clear essential oils etc. But it doesn't always have to be that way either.

Then add a rough outline as to how many parts of each oil you think would go nicely. Don't write it in ink, because it will likely change!

Many times I seem inclined to choose my oils as much by colour as by scent, often grouping dark essential oils together, or clear essential oils etc. But it doesn't always have to be that way and often I will compliment the blend with a touch of a completely different essential oil.

A popular but simple example is the addition of vanilla to orange. It mellows the sharper citrus creating a scent that is much like creamsicle. On the other hand, the addition of a mint to an orange essential oil (there are many varieties available) will give a surprisingly beautiful fruity and fresh aroma, perfect for many things, especially potpourri in the kitchen and soap.

Got your ideas together? It's time to go to get to work! <bio>Learn more about making your own natural skin care and essential oil blends by subscribing to SKN News - http://www/skincarenaturals.com/isnare.html Receive a PDF printable monthly and a free bonus download of Aromapedia.
In 1999 I was living in a shared house in Oslo, and there was a couple there who introduced me to a new concept.

One day, I found orange peel in the shower. I asked my house mates about it - I didn't really enjoy picking up orange peels after other people (especially in the shower).

Why ... WHY? was there orange peel in our common shower?

They went all weird. The guy looked down. The girl looked away.

I got very curious.

And then the girl said, in a husky sort of voice: Have you ever tried eating an orange in the shower?

It was my turn to look down. No, I said, I hadn't. Well, you should try it, she said.

Why?

She didn't want to tell me why. I pushed on. Why? I insisted.

You just have to try it, she told me. See what it's like.

What it's like?

Yeah, well, see what happens.

What happens? I was feeling somewhat stupid, but also mysteriously aroused by now.

She looked at me, like meaningfully, and said, Sten, in the shower you can make us much mess as you want with an orange.

That's nine years ago now. But I still haven't taken an orange to the shower. Why?

You could say: well, why would you want to... and that's a valid point, of course.

But a small part of me want to. It sounds a bit naughty, doesn't it? Eating the orange in the shower, really making a mess. Showing it into your face, squashing it, letting the juices flow down your body.

On the other hand, it is an action ever so slightly on the other side of ... I don't know exactly... sanity? ... the socially condoned?

It is just one step to the left of my everyday view of reality - what life is like, what "people" do.

I guess, in a sense, I don't dare. Even when alone.

To get it done, there is planning involved. Premeditation. We never have oranges at our house, so first, I would have to go get one.

Then, I would have to find a time to do it. Maybe not in the mornings, even though that's when I usually shower, because I don't have a lot of time before I need to go to work. And I don't think I'll get up extra early to shower with an orange.

And not while my wife is in the house. I'd have to sneak an orange into the shower. That feels weird. If not, I'd have to tell her about my - experiment - and that feels even weirder.

There is something about this that makes me very uncomfortable. What is that? Why is that? It is not dangerous. It is not frowned upon by society (maybe because society never thought about it).

Still, it's the fear, isn't it? "What would other people think?"

Wow, I have to face that fear. I have to buy that orange.

And so do you. <bio>Sten Andersen is the author of "The Three Ways of Conquering Your Fears". Many people show off their unique personality through dress, hairstyle, or shoe selection. For something a little more understated, but just as powerful, consider selecting a scent that will immediately identify you to the people you come in contact with everyday. At first, they won't quite know why they're having these powerful, memorable feelings. After all, scent is supposedly the sense most strongly linked to memory. With time, however, they'll come to associate that certain wonderful fragrance with you. Once that connection is made, it won't easily be forgotten.

How can you figure out which scent best matches your style and personality? A large part of the equation is a simple "smell test". Go into any local department store, and try on a number of different perfumes. Pick the one that you like the most, and give it a trial period. Wear it to work, out to the bar, and in other social situations where you'll be in close contact with others. It's wise not to mention that you're trying a new perfume. Let their opinions come to you. That way, you'll know that you're getting honest feedback instead of superfluous compliments.

This first perfume doesn't have to be the signature scent that you're wedded to for eternity. Now it's time to think about the other aspects of the scent. What does it represent? You would be surprised by the subconscious thoughts and ideas that perfumes can trigger in others. A strong perfume will immediately take another person aback, demanding their attention. This could have a mixed result; do you really want to create such a strong impression before you've even had the chance to introduce yourself? Perhaps you'd be better served by something a little less powerful, a scent that flies under the radar until the prey is within reach. Likewise, are you after a more fruity scent, or something that is a bit more masculine?

The scent alone shouldn't be the only consideration for deciding on your signature scent. Perhaps equally important, what is the price tag attached to the bottle? You don't want to get addicted to a perfume that you'll only be able to use sparingly. Consider that your signature perfume is just that: a statement that will make people think of you, and you exclusively. That's why picking something out of your price range is shortsighted. Instead, consider a slightly less expensive option that won't break the bank each month.

Choosing your signature perfume should be a fun process, and an expression of exactly what makes you an individual. Remember that you don't have to settle on the first scent that you come across. Take your time, and experiment with different options that best express your personality. As months turn into years, this scent will become a lasting part of your image to the world, and one that people will look to for evidence that you've graced the room with your presence.<bio>How you smell is just as important as how you look. In fact sometimes it can be more important. Smell has a way of effecting people in ways looks never could. Start effecting people with designer perfumes at: http://www.uniqueperfumes.com/</bio>

Many natural and organic skincare products use essential oils as an ingredients, whilst other products are based on combinations of essential oils as their primary, or indeed only, ingredients.

Knowing that a natural or organic skincare product uses a certain essential oil is all well and good, but how can you be certain as to what properties that oil is giving the product in question? Is the fact that a cream contains bergamot oil good if you're suffering from a touch of stress, or will it simply serve to make you smell a little bit like a cup of Earl Grey tea?

Well, in fact, bergamot oil might do both. Its familiar smell helps to relax and ease tension, but the oil is actually extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, which is what Earl Grey is flavoured with. Another oil that helps to lift the emotions is Geranium, which is sometimes used in natural and organic skincare products as a substitute for the more costly ingredient rose. As well as being useful in relaxing us when we are stressed out, Geranium essential oil is a brilliant cosmetic product; it is an excellent antiseptic that is extremely good for skin inflammations such as eczema and acne. It also helps with oil and sebum regulation, so if you're stressed about any of these conditions Geranium Essential Oil's duel properties might just work some wonders.

Lavender Essential Oil is a familiar scent that is often found in those microwavable relaxation bags and other such products. Just because it is familiar does not mean that it should be disregarded as a useful ingredient in natural and organic skincare products. As a matter of fact, Lavender Oil is one of the strongest natural antiseptics that has long since been used on burns and wounds. It is also anti-bacterial and effectively regulates sebum production.

Whilst Lavender Essential Oil is a familiar scent in perfumes and organic cosmetics products, one oil that is not is Neroli Essential Oil. Neroili has a very distinctive, citrus smell and, because it is expensive, is not found in many everyday products (in fact, finding its presence on an ingredients list is one way of knowing if a product can justify its high price tag, or better yet, whether it is a bargain). The oil is extracted from the flowers of the bitter orange tree and is excellent for mature skin due its regenerating properties. It is also extremely adept at treating stretch marks and helping to soothe skin inflammations.

Rosemary Essential Oil is often found in shampoos that help to maintain thin hair and help to prevent hair loss. Like Lavender oil, it is a scent that most of us are familiar with, but which has some perhaps unknown benefits when used in natural and organic skincare products. It is antiseptic and astringent, and therefore excellent in skincare products designed for helping to treat acne and eczema. When inhaled, the oil by itself helps to lift the mood, so all round its not a bad thing to have in a product.<bio>Matt Gammie is a writer for Scin Boutique</bio>

The first ever Victoria's Secret Garden scent I smelled was Endless Love. Since that first time, I have fallen in love with this line of body lotions. I have always had problems when it came to choosing a scent that would suit me and that would last for at least an hour. When I first tried Victoria's Secret, I knew that I had found a keeper.

You can use the body lotion any time you wish but I think the most effective way is to use it right after you take a bath or a shower. That way, your skin is clean and no dirt or grit will ruin the feel of your skin. The body lotion really smoothens your skin. With continuous use you will see the effect even more.

The scents add another dimension to the body lotions. If you really like the particular scent, you will appreciate the fact that they stay on for a long long time. My original criterion was that the scent last for at least an hour. I got at least 5 times as much as that. Even if you engage in physical activities and sweat a bit, the scent is not totally lost.

The Silkening Body Lotions come in different bottle sizes. You can also find them in tubes. The packaging is quite appealing to eyes. Personally, I prefer the tubes. If you use it often -- as you most probably would -- an 8.0 ounce bottle will probably last for a month or so.

My problem is that out of the whole line, there are only a couple of scents that I like. These are Endless Love and Vanilla Lace. All the other scents are either too fruity or too sweet for my taste.

Another thing is that for everyday use, these products do not come cheaply. However, Victoria's Secret stores usually have promos wherein you can get a several bottles for a low price. Online stores also offer a wide array of scents with reasonable prices. The smart thing to do is to grab several bottles of your favorite scent and stock up on them when you chance upon a sale.

If you are looking for a body lotion that markedly improves your skin's texture, then try one of the many Victoria's Secret Garden Silkening Body Lotions. In addition to supple skin, you will end up smelling lovely throughout most of the day. <bio>For more information please visit http://www.444.net </bio>

People worldwide are using perfume for a variety of reasons. We may use it to smell nice, attract people of the opposite sex or just make ourselves feel good and more confident. But before you go on spraying that favorite scent of yours, have you ever wondered how the perfume originated and what goes on into making a signature scent?

The art of making fragrances originated from the Egyptians when they burned plants and woods for their pleasant odors. But it was the French who turned it into a science and into a multi-million industry. Making scents and fragrances is very big business. Long gone were the days when perfume used to be for the affluent or rich. Now, more and more people can afford to purchase perfumes and colognes as scent manufacturers are producing fragrances suited for every age, gender and purchasing power.

One of the problems in producing perfumes would be how to make it last long. It was the French who discovered the solution to overcoming this problem by layering the scents into three layers which is known in the industry as notes.

The top note is the initial smell that we whiff when a perfume is applied or sprayed on. It has an intense smell but usually lasts for only a short while. Spice or Citrus based scents are commonly used as a top note.

The middle note otherwise known as the heart note is the main component of the scent. The smell of the middle note surfaces when the top note starts to weaken. Usually floral scents in nature are used as middle notes since it is softer in smell. The middle note would last most of the day.

The base note is the scent that would last until the night. It serves as the foundation of every scent and it will blend with the middle note. Musky scents are commonly used as a base note.

The perfume basically has three components: the scent, the fixative and the solvent. The scent can be made from flowers, plants, herbs, spices and wood. The fixative is the component that helps make the scent last for a longer duration. The solvent is usually alcohol and helps prevent bacteria from forming and maintains the perfume's consistency.

When you will be using any cologne or perfume, ensure that you don't put on too much of it. As much as possible to make it pleasing to other people apply only a very slight amount to let it blend with your body's natural odor. <bio>Mary Lorainne writes about http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Categories/Men's/Gift%20Sets.html and FragranceX free , http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com </bio>

Smells mean a lot to us then we may notice, good smells attract while bad smells repel. Our in many cases our nose is our most relied and trusted allay, giving us feedback about what is good and what is not good for us.

Do you wish the world could be just a little bit nicer? Well, with a fragrance and perfume set, at least your part of it can smell a lot nicer. Take the fragrance you love with you everywhere by getting it in multiple product-types, so the world can always smell just how you want it to, wherever you go.

Whether you don't normally wear a scent and you're looking to try one out, or you do, but you feel ready for a change, a fragrance set can give you the options you need. But first, you have to determine what kind of scent you're looking for. Fragrances and perfumes can have aromas ranging from flirty and fruity to flowery and fresh, so you'll want to get a sense of what suits you before you purchase your set. You may even want to go home wearing a sample of your top choice the first time you go shopping, just to see how it wears on you. The scent of a good perfume continues to develop throughout the day, so try it out to see if you like what it develops into.

Next, you should decide what you want out of your set. A fragrance and perfume set can come with anything from multiple perfumes to body splash, bar soaps, body mist, and deodorants, so decide which uses suit your lifestyle the most. If you don't like the idea of a strong smell, or have a high sensitivity to scents, you might want to go for a mild fragrance set, with a body wash or soap and a body mist. These will give you a light, fresh scent without feeling obvious or oppressive.

Of course, a scent never should be oppressive, to you, or your neighbors. If you decide on a set that contains a strong perfume, make sure to always use it in moderation. Ingredients in many perfumes can cause irritation to the skin and lungs, especially in asthmatics, when worn to heavily. You don't want to come to work thinking you smell lovely, only to end up giving your office-mate an asthma attack. If you have a sensitivity or allergy to the strong chemicals frequently used in perfumes and fragrances, you should look for a set that uses only all-natural ingredients. These can be easier on your skin, as well as your nose. Apply with care, and enjoy, all day long.

Scents have a way of customizing themselves, they do this by mixing up with your personal bodies odor to provide you with your own slightly unique scent, which is always positive. No two people that have applied the same scent will eventually end up smelling the same. This is what makes scents so unique, and this is where you will really find out if a particular scent is really for you or not. Scents are a way of scent communication, between people. It makes the impression even before you start, so choosing the right scent is always important.<bio>Debrah Dragon is a writer for Beauty Items, a website about everything beauty-related - hair salons, beauty tips, etc. Debrah is also a featured author at www.ArticleKing.com</bio>

Have you ever wondered why people wear cologne or perfume and go out of their way to always smell good? What factors influence them to wear a particular scent or brand? Well, they have their reasons and you probably could be one of them too who just can't go out without a good spray of your favorite scent.

Basically, people wear cologne or perfume to make themselves smell good. They could have some foul body odor and they use cologne or perfume to mask the bad smell. Several factors influence the choice that goes into their selection of a particular perfume to use.

The name of a perfume is an important feature to any particular fragrance. A name in itself is enough already to make a particular perfume a huge selling success. It could also help if the perfume was manufactured by a certain company that is well renowned.

A perfume endorsed by a famous celebrity also creates a significant influence on a would be buyer especially if he or she is a huge fan. But you have to think twice if the perfumes being marketed by these popular stars are worth the money that you will be paying for. If the perfume is of a distinct scent and you don't find others that are of similar smell then it may be worth every penny. On the other hand, if it just turns out to be too ordinary then you may not be getting your money's worth. You have to consider on whether you are purchasing the perfume for its scent or for the name associated with it. Bear in mind that endorsements are not cheap and most likely the cost they spend on marketing and advertising campaigns goes into every bottle of perfume they sell.

Others wear a particular cologne or perfume because of the self-image that it enables them to project. The way you smell also plays an important role in attracting others of the opposite sex. Perfumes have been used like pheromones to attract love and romance and sometimes inspire seduction. A particular perfume can also make us feel good and more confident about ourselves. Soothing scents help clear our minds and thoughts. Scents and fragrances often bring back old memories.

But for most of us, it is still the smell that matters on why we choose to wear a particular scent. In the end it is a matter of how you want yourself to smell. <bio>Mary Lorainne writes about http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com </bio>

The science behind aromatherapy is known as psychoneuroimmunology which studies the interactions between the psychological, neurological and immune systems. Research has shown that there is a very strong correlation between positive and negative experiences and our immune system as well as our psyche. This premise is recognized by the fields of science and medicine giving credence to the old adage mind over body.

Aromatherapy utilizes the strongest of our senses which is the sense of smell. The sense of smell is unique because it has a direct path to our brain and more importantly it has a direct path to our limbic system. Through this direct portal aromas are able to directly affect conscious thought and reactions as the limbic system is responsible for our memories (turning short term to long term), learned responses, emotions and feelings.

The use of aromatherapy oils to promote relaxation has become very popular by the mainstream population. For this purpose essential oils can be applied in several different ways including baths, diffusers, direct inhalation, or through a massage to name just a few. How you choose to use your aromatherapy oils is a personal preference as long as enjoy the process.

The number of different essential oils on the market is vast leaving the decision of which one to try somewhat daunting. It should be noted that each essential oil has many specific therapeutic applications and many of these are similar with other oils, which allows you to choose an oil that will give you the desired benefits as well as an aroma you enjoy. For instance their are several oils that are known for there powers to relax, so the choice becomes a personal one.

1. Ylang ylang is known for its strong, sweet exotic scent and is extracted by steam or water distillation for the fresh flowers of the tropical tree Canago odorata better known as the Ylang ylang tree.

2. Neroli has a very feminine sweet floral smell and is extracted by enfleurage or steam distillation from the orange blossom petals of the orange tree Citrus auratium. Neroli essential oil is generally sold in a cut form (with another oil) and is one of the more expensive oils on the market.

3. Jasmine is another oil that can be described as having an exotic, sweet floral scent. Jasmine essential oil is extracted from the flowers of the plant Jasminum officinale.

4. Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils as its benefits and applications are vast. This lightly floral scented oil is extracted by steam distillation from the plant Lavandula augustifolia.

5. Sandalwood is has a sensual musky or woody scent and has been used for thousands of years. This essential oil is extracted by steam or water distillation from the heartwood (nonliving central wood)
and roots of the tree Santalum album.

This is by no means a complete list of the aromatherapy oils that can be utilized for the purpose of relaxation, it is instead a sample of the vast number to choose from. When choosing an aromatherapy oil try to find one that you can use for several desired benefits and more importantly find one that you find pleasing to smell. If you do not like or enjoy the scent of your oil chances are it will not give you the results you are looking for.<bio>For uses, benefits and information on essential oils|aromatherapy|pheromones visit: http://www.essentialoiloutlets.com</bio>

For men, as well as some women, finding the perfect perfume can be a stressful, time-consuming experience. . If you familiarize yourself with the six basic fragrance groups, you will not only save time, but also make your shopping experience more enjoyable. The following paragraphs will discuss the six common fragrance groups when it comes to perfume in order to assist you in finding the right perfume with more ease.

The floral category is the largest and most popular scent for perfumes. These scents are made mainly from different varieties of flowers. These varieties include roses, orange blossoms, vanilla and jasmine. Other flowers are also used, including different varieties of lilies and orchids.

The oriental category of perfume scents represents a relatively large group of scents, as well. These scents include heavy mixtures of spices, balsams, resins, and amber helping to suggest a warm, exotic sensation. This category is very popular during wintertime, and colder months of the year because of its heavy, musky traits.

The citrus category of perfume scents are derived from different fruits. These fruits can include lime, lemon tangerine and mandarin

This often creates a tangy aroma women find refreshing, as well as uplifting. This category of perfume scent is most popular during warm months.

This category of perfume scents was given its name by the French. It tends to create a strong feeling and are made from many different wood-moss mixes. These are often earthly aromas, such as oak moss, bergamot and other types of wood and wood moss Perfumes falling in the Chypre category of sent are most generally strong, earthly scents.

Although it can be hard to describe the scent of a color, this is a real category of perfume scents. Perfumes falling into this category of scents tend to be sharp, outdoor scents. This includes the scents of pine, juniper, leaves and herbs

Lavender and cocoa are also examples of green scents.

The Fougere category of perfume scents is most common among men. These aromas are usually created from herbs and mossy ferns. Perfumes that fall into this category normally come together in a very sophisticated style. While men typically where scents that fall into this category, there are popular perfumes for women that fall into this category as well. Most every fragrance retailer will make you think their perfume is a totally new scent, all scents are likely to fall into one of these six categories. <bio>Taisha Grant writes about http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/FragranceX.com.html and http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/Perfume%20Emporium.html </bio>

How to Create Your Own Pure Essential Oil Blend - Part One

When we consider the additional benefits of using pure essential oils to create our own scented blend for skincare, emotional and physical well being, it becomes a unique and hard to resist opportunity.

In using gentle essential oils, even when your primary goal is to create a beautiful scent, you are bound to reap the healing and stress reducing benefits of the essential oil blend as well.

Scent can be an extremely powerful mood enhancer, often used to calm and relax or to uplift and invigorate, there are even some that do both.

As stress is one of the major contributors to disease in our society today, the art of creating scent through essential oil blends in our environment... aromatherapy... is a gentle and enjoyable wellness tool.

If you are looking at skin care benefits only, you should decide what exactly you want and research the best oils to use, then choose from them, being careful to follow dilution rates and safety guidelines. As a matter of fact, creating a blend according to it's beneficial properties is a whole other topic! If you are going for scent, both of these still apply, but you are free to follow your nose.

Blending is something that doesn't necessarily take experience to begin, but must be experienced to accomplish, if that makes any scents :0)

You can learn methods and get ideas from a book, but you must do it to do it.

Do It Your Self is always more rewarding, and it is fun and freeing to use our own creativity when developing unique scents for our personal care needs.

Using pure essential oils to make your own scented blends doesn't just make good scents, it makes good sense too!

GET TO KNOW YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS INDIVIDUALLY AND ON A FIRST NAME BASIS!

Many pure essential oils are beautiful as they are. Take a sniff. Let the essence filter through the air and into your nostrils. It lingers and becomes you. Try it!

TIP: Never sniff a pure essential oil straight from the bottle, hold it away from you or put a drop onto a piece of paper or a q-tip, or put it in a bit of carrier oil).

Essential Oils are potent in their pure form - it's the lingering essence that you are after.

Sniffing essential oils straight from the bottle can damage your sense of smell and/or give you a headache. But it won't give you a true sense of the particular essential oils scent, many are much different and sometimes more pleasant when diluted.

Become familiar with your oils. It will be easier to know just the right one to use when you are looking for something to complete your new essential oil blend and will give you a good variety to choose from when you are in the planning stages of creating your blend.

It is said that scent will help you to retain memory as that particular scent will be andquot;linkedandquot; to the memory, so upon smelling it, you will remember what you where thinking at that time. We've all experienced this in one form or another as a familiar scent takes us back to a certain place and time.

I believe that we also retain the memory of each essential oil's nuance so that when we are playing with ideas, a blend of sorts will come together almost automatically if you have decided what end result you are looking for.

Much like when we remember things like phone numbers and passwords directly through our fingers, on autopilot... but if we are asked to remember what they are, we can't (been there, done that with my van security passcode, bad scene jellybean!)

So it is important to get to know your scents by enjoying them individually first. Then you will have a much better idea how to create your own essential oil blend from the oils that have become familiar.

If you are on a budget, or would like to start by focusing on one area of scent, research oils in that category and purchase a small sampling of these oils to play with.

You will need to decide what you'd like to start with.

If for example you would like to make a light floral using oils such as rose, lavender or chamomile, or a heady intoxicating blend with oils such as jasmine, sandalwood or oak moss, or an invigorating citrus blend using oils such as grapefruit, orange, lemon or lime.

That's just for starters, the possibilities are endless. That's the fun of making scents! <bio>Learn more about making your own natural skin care and essential oil blends by subscribing to http://www.skincarenaturals.com/isnare.html Subscribers receive a PDF printable monthly AND a free download of Aromapedia.
For the past few years, there has been a lot of buzz about green tea. Merchants promote all kinds of green tea products, from the logical drinks to skin care products and other items. Green tea is full of antioxidants, believed to help prevent cancer and slow aging, and has also been shown to help lower cholesterol and get rid of headaches. Now the green tea trend has hit the fragrance world as well, answering consumer demand for products that are fresh, clean, and natural. If this is a trend you've embraced also, here are a few green tea fragrances you might want to try.

Bvlgari's Green Tea Fragrance is a unisex, but flowery scent that has been around for almost ten years. With a distinctly Asian character, it combines the scent of green tea with jasmine, citrus, and rose. It also has spicier undertones of pepper, coriander, and cardamom. It is available in lotion, cologne, eau de parfum, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant.

Released in 1999, Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden is a flowery scent also, and blends the scent of green tea with lemon, rhubarb, and peppermint. Though it is recommended as a day fragrance, it also has more rounded tones of oakmoss, mush, and amber. It comes in eau de parfum spray and several different body treatments. There is a leg and foot cream, a cooling body gel, and thicker lotions. It is also available in hygiene products like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and deodorant.

TerraNova Sakura and Green Tea, as its name suggests, is a combination of green tea and the Japanese sakura cherry blossom. Its fresh, invigorating scent is good for spring, the same time the cherry blossoms bloom. If you're looking for an aromatherapy experience, try out their bath salts, which infuse the fragrance in a soothing mix with rice bran, cherry bark, and ho wood. In addition to a cologne mist, it also comes in body lotion, a thicker hand cream, massage oil, and body wash.

Demeter has a Green Tea fragrance that it recommends not only for personal use, but also for spraying on bedding and other fabrics around the house for a fresh, clean scent. Demeter specializes in unique scent sprays for the home and body, and their repertoire includes a new Play-Doh scent (to celebrate the toy's 50th anniversary), as well as watermelon, pumpkin pie, and chocolate chip cookie. <bio>Cathy Peterson writes about FragranceX Coupons, Perfume Emporium Coupons and http://www.SimplyBestCoupons.com </bio>

Understanding the various varieties of perfume can help to cut through the difficulty in selecting a fragrance. With so many variances within each category, choosing exactly the right aroma for your body or anyone else's for that matter, is no easy task.

The most popular based on sales is the floral category. Floral scents are typically a varying concoction of flower aromas blended together for a unique scent. Jasmine, gardenia, and rose bases are the most popular of the popular, often for their unique blending style and their ability to match most body chemistries. Floral scents can vary from very strong to very mild.

One of the more musky yet strong aromas falls in the leather category. Leather fragrances have almost an animal like smokiness to them that is suitable for men and some women, although it is not recommended to purchase leather fragrances as a gift for women since it matches very few female pheromones. The leather scents are reminiscent of the aroma that tanning animal hides gives off. While it is not a fragrance for everyone, those for whom it works for creates a very original scent that can be very attractive.

The woody fragrances are somewhat similar to the leathers, but with a more outdoor smell. With a scent that very closely matches that of the smell of burning wood, Sandalwood is the most popular of the woody fragrances. Sandalwood is popular for perfumes as well as fragrance oils and even incense.

The citrus family of perfumes is, as expected, a fruity scent derived from natural fruit oils. Pomello and lemon and orange and even grapefruit are among the most popular bases for citrus perfumes. Typically younger individuals prefer the citrus based over most other fragrances.

Fougere is a French fragrance that has gained huge popularity in the United States. Literally translated it means "fern," and has an interested fragrance blend of musty moss-like aroma with herbs such as lavender. Men have a particular fondness for this perfume for its subtle blended scent.

Chypre is another popular blend, typically a soft aroma of outdoor woody-leather scents mixed with citrus aromas. These blends are typically easy to spot when shopping as they are almost always encased in leather as a protective covering. The mixing of fragrances has shifted toward the fruity or "green" scents and leaves behind a gentle musk.

The Oriental aromas are more balsamic with a hint of oak moss, animal scents, or vanilla which creates a noticeable lingering in the air. Obsession is a very popular brand of an Oriental based perfume. Oriental perfumes are considered quite full if not even "heavy." <bio>Taisha Grant writes about http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/Scented%20Monkey.html and http://www.perfumefragrancecoupons.com/Coupons/FragranceX.com.html </bio>

Britney Spears is a very successful pop singer and more than once she has been the focus of the media attention. Nowadays Britney Spears has additional reasons to draw the attention of the media. "Fantasy" is the name of her second perfume brand. It was launched in september of 2005 and has since then been very popular amongst women of different age groups.

Some say it has a "sweet fruity smell to it" and others say that "it is a magic love potion of sweet temptation that leaves a tantalizing trail of embracing sensuality". Britney says it was created with all kinds of enchanting scents and flavours like lush red lychee, golden quince, sensual woods and exotic kiwi, even with a hint of cupcakes, white chocolate and jasmine.

The scent of the perfume seems quite sweet and still not too overpowering. Fans describe it as 'cotton candy'. Cotton Candy is a nice smell for young women and is not the kind of smell older women should wear.

Many women are attracted by the bottle "Fantasy" comes in. It is a decorative pink bottle that has faux crystals all over it. Due to the decorative appeal of the bottle, long after the perfume is used up, the bottle can still be great for decoration.

Sales for this perfume have been good because compared to other fragrant perfumes Britney Spears "Fantasy" is considered affordable. An additional reason might be that teenage boys can often afford to buy it as a gift for their girlfriends.

"Fantasy" was created by Jim Krivda. The new scent was released by a popular US cosmetics company, Elizabeth Arden. Since the day of launch the perfume has done extremely well as the tagline says "Everybody has one." The fragrance can be found online via a variety of websites and also in several different department stores. Britney Spears perfume is something that every ultimate Britney fan should have. <bio>Rudy Dhondt is the webmaster of the website Pleasant Scent at http://www.pleasant-scent.com and gives information about Perfume for her or him. </bio>

Orange County Schools in California released state tests scores with the announcement that scores had risen for the fifth straight year in a row. That means that 52% of students tested for English in grades 2-11 passed with a grade of proficient or above. 51% in math. Did you read that correctly? 52% and 51% passing means progress to the Orange County Schools. If you're a parent with children in the Orange County Public Schools this should concern your greatly! The scary thing is that statewide percentages are at 43% and 41%. California Schools are currently failing our children.

So what's a parent to do? Funding is an issue. Teaching the state's huge immigrant population is an issue. The needs of special needs students are an issue. And no one has a really great answer. But as a parent, there is something that you can do. It's a drastic measure that could impact the entire population of the Orange County Schools. But it's not an easy fix. In fact, a lot of the Orange County Schools' families will have serious pains from making this move. But it's that important. Parents of Orange County Schools- I challenge you to turn off your television during the school week.

Withdrawal Pains in the Orange County Schools

For the small percentage of you who are still reading, don't throw the remote at your screen quite yet. I know what I'm suggesting is a scary lifestyle change that a lot of Orange County Schools won't ever consider. But for the academic and future success of your children, hear me out.

Television drains energy. It doesn't matter if your Orange County Schools students are seniors or kindergarteners. When they're watching television they're not: interacting with friends and family, getting exercise, fully attending to homework, or using their brains. When children watch television they: get inappropriate messages from shows and commercials, get into a habit of inactivity, eat more junk food, and tend to become grumpier and fussier. All of these factors are seen in poor test scores and behavior in the Orange County Schools.

How Less Television Can Help the Orange County Schools

Now I know that Governor Schwarzenegger isn't about to pass any initiatives to help me rally Orange County Schools families to watch less television. In fact, you as the parent are the only person who can really make this significant change for your family. But why would you want to do this?

Are you busy? Really, really tired? Most Orange County Schools parents feel overwhelmed and exhausted at the end of the day. Television can be a relaxing escape. But think for a moment about how busy your family is already with homework, dinner, and activities at the end of the day. What if TV was no longer a factor? How would your family spend that time? Would Orange County Schools' children get to bed earlier and get more sleep if they weren't up so late watching television? Would you have to time to read to them more? Take a walk together? Play a card game?

If you really want to see an improvement in the Orange County Schools, I dare you to try this with your family for one month. No television on school days. Aren't your children worth it? <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
