Oprah Winfrey has universal marketing power. Her power over the products she recommends and endorses is priceless. If there is a way that you could use the power of Oprah's show and tremendous mass market exposure, to build a business from home would you be interested? Oprah is known by every American and most everyone in the world You just need to say her first name and everyone knows who it is. She has the ability to launch any product and bring it to the masses of consumer hungry North Americans. She has the ability to influence anyone to buy a product or service period. Oprah media and magazine coverage and distribution is absolutely amazing. That is why she is a self made billionaire that's right billionaire So how can you use the power of Oprah to help you start a home based business?

When any product, person or company is featured on Oprah's show or her widely distributed and read magazine the brand receives massive exposure overnight. People will be literally throwing there money at whatever she recommends. When Oprah has a passion for keeping the environment clean and toxic free she has a show on green products. She only recommends products that are designed for good. Products that are safe for you the environment and people all around you. So if you are looking to get behind something to increase your brand awareness and market exposure wouldn't you have Oprah help you market your business? You can do this in one simple way. Find a home based business that Oprah either endorses the company the products or both. What this will do is give your and I mean your business universal appeal to anyone looking for the Products online at home or from talking to there friends and co-workers.

Here is the secret to getting Oprah to advertise your business. Just find a company that she endorses and features on her show. All you have to do is get your business established and set up out and Oprah will do all the advertising and presenting of your products and business. I would rather partner with one great marketer to help market my business than 100 average people that do not have the massive appeal that Oprah has, wouldn't you?. So when you are looking for a way to get your business out there why not partner with a nationally recognized name and brand? When looking for a business to start or products to buy that are quality first and price second look to see what Oprah is recommending. She knows what is good in the market-place, she knows what will sell what will provide a useful service and what will make a positive impact on the environment. She also knows a good business model and company, that is why she is so influential. To find out what Oprah is talking about and how to get your business on her show and let her advertise for you start searching for companies and products she has endorsed that you can start your own business having here advertise for you.<bio>Erik Jacobson is an Entrepreneur that teaches the power of using technology to promote Earth Friendly Business.
Recently, Oprah Winfrey undertook what some would call a difficult challenge. She embarked on a 21-day cleanse as a result of Kathy Freston's book Quantum Wellness. During the three week period, she couldn't have many of the things that we consume on a daily basis. Alcohol, caffeine, sugar, gluten, or animal products were strictly forbidden in order to cleanse the body completely.

So why exactly would she get involved in such a cleanse? In Kathy Freston's book, Quantum Wellness, she claims that this 21-day cleanse will jumpstart you physically and spiritually. It changes you from the inside out. Oprah says that during the three week period, you are to become a "conscious eater". You need to think about what you eat before you just start eating it. A quote from her blog says "How can you say you're trying to spiritually evolve, without even a thought about what happens to the animals whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony?" She claimed that the three week period gave her a chance to think about her attachments to certain foods and why she eats what she eats.

On Oprah's final day of the diet she nearly broke down and had something that she wasn't supposed to have. Quoting from her blog, "yes, I want some wine. Bordeaux 82. Just one glass at sunset, almost broke down and had a glass. I didn't, mostly because of my commitment to fellow VCTers. Tomorrow, Scarlet...tomorrow is another day. That's my mantra for now."

After a full 21 days of this diet, what exactly did Oprah Winfrey take away from it? Let's look at a direct quote from Oprah herself to see what she got out of it. "What I know for sure is I've reached a new level of awareness about food, eating and how the whole process of how it gets to my table. I used to say thanks before a meal out of perfunctory habit. Now I consider it true grace to be able to eat anything in a world of increasing food shortages and starving people."

Should just anyone embark on this diet? The answer is no. If you don't realize what your reason for doing it is, then don't do it. Just doing something because a famous celebrity also did it is a terrible idea. However, if you see the reasons for doing it, then go for it. Anytime you can grow into a more conscious being, it is for the better.

It sounds as if Oprah is now a more grateful person when it comes to what she eats. Anytime we can create more gratitude in our lives it is going to help us in every way. Gratitude is a phenomenal state to live in. The more you can be grateful for, the more you will receive.

In addition to the mental benefits you will receive, the physical benefits will be obvious. All of the things that are forbidden by this diet have been proven to be negative influences on our body in some way. If you can cleanse out the bad things in your body, it will undoubtedly help you in one way or another. Use your own judgment in order to determine if this is the right thing for you.<bio>Quantum Wellness is a new book written by Kathy Freston.
We can always count on Oprah. If we need a good book, or a good chocolate, she's there with a recommendation and, if you happen to be in the audience, a sample. Perhaps Oprah is at her best, however, when you need a swift kick in the bottom - when you need someone telling it like it is, pulling no punches.

We turn to Oprah for weight loss advice and inspiration, tips on jeans that don't make our butts look big, and "girl, no you didn't" comments on our hair and makeup. So it's no surprise that Oprah, queen of the TV talk show and the best friend we've never met, has turned the makeover show on its head by offering us a series called "Have you let yourself go"?

Featuring the stories of real women who feel they've let a part of themselves go and wonder how to retrieve it, the series examines the plight of women who say they've lost a piece of themselves somewhere along the path. One woman featured on the first episode of the series was Cheryl, who became a mom 4 years ago and feels she's lost a part of herself to motherhood.

"I chose to stay at home", she said in her confessional cam. She pointed to her clothes and hair and noted that she cares little about either and then plaintively said, "I feel I've lost a lot of myself."

According to http://oprah.com, 90% of respondents in a recent survey at the website admitted they have let themselves go. The women featured on the series of shows have a variety of life stories to tell, from abuse and weight gain to broken relationships and significant life changes that brought them to a point, they say, of losing themselves and letting themselves go.

The Oprah message boards have been buzzing since the first shows aired. Women confess they know exactly how the show guests feel, and share similar stories of putting others first, feeling depressed, gaining weight and feeling hopeless and helpless to put things right.

One woman said she lost her job 4 years ago, moved into a contracted job for two years and is now out of work. She identifies, she says, with the issues presented on these Oprah shows. "I feel like I have let knowing who I am go", she wrote. "I have been settling and I don't want to settle for just anything. I want to get back on track. I need help and I want to make a comeback - Why am I scared to look at myself? I need to bring that to the surface."

Oprah doesn't dwell on people's problems without offering experts and solutions, and for this series, she offers us Dr. Robin Smith who has suggested a vast reading list to help us in our bid to pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and get our new life.

Some of the suggested reading includes:

- The Woman's Comfort Book, by Jennifer Louden

- The Road Less Traveled: A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values, and Spiritual Growth, by M. Scott Peck, MD.

- Getting the Love You Want, by Harville Hendrix, PhD.

- Necessary Losses, by Judith Viorst

- The Language of Letting Go, by Melody Beattie

- The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, by Don Miguel Ruiz

- Family Secrets: The Path to Self-Acceptance and Reunion, by John Bradshaw

In this quest to help women renew themselves, Oprah has also brought a personal trainer on board. Jeanette Jenkins offers up daily exercise and eating plans. Visit http://oprah.com for the plan, or you can download a printable version of it there as well.

Finally, the http://Oprah.com website is also offering an online journaling tool called a "discovery journal". The "Who am I?" journal is designed to help you discover yourself, says Dr. Robin. That, she suggests, might be the first step toward retrieving the part of yourself you thought you lost. <bio>Shelly Lowery is a successful writer with an interest in celebrities like Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah...if not the most visible and famous boomer is pretty darn close! Did she have lots of good luck or was it just plain hard work and being at the right place at the right time? The reality is that you can have the best opportunities, and even be great, but if you do not connect with your audience you will never reach the great pinnacles of success. For example, there are a gazillion great singers out there, and only a handful make it to the top... and even fewer remain there!! That is another issue today...the fifteen minutes of fame can be cut off at any given time. Movie stars, celebrities, and musicians are only as good as their last movie or last song...They can be forgotten very fast. Making headlines today for doing negative things is very much in fashion, and brings a wave of attention. But like everything else it does become yesterday's news.

What has kept this famous baby boomer on top for so long? It is quite possible that her reign of fabulous could go on indefinitely...Where there is an exciting topic she has the most interesting and popular guest. In my humble opinion her interviewing skills far surpass any of the other talk show hosts. Her generosity has been unapproachable.

She has brought fame and fortune to many with just a mention of their name or book. I have sweet dreams at night thinking of getting my book mentioned on the Oprah Winfrey show. Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz have fame that many physicians and psychologists could only dream about.

So what is the downside...She has the perfect life as we gaze through the looking glass. Her only issue seems to be her weight, which has fluctuated more than her rising ratings from her show. She has a trainer, special chef and yet we all have seen her go up and down the size ladder for many years. Food issues can be more serious in some ways than alcohol addiction. It is mainly because we have to eat to stay alive. Nothing stimulates the taste buds like eating...You can give up alcoholic beverages and never even have to deal with them, but food is all around and avoiding it is impossible. Just walking down the street and passing a bakery can ruin any well planned diet. So you have a poached egg on dry toast, and not only are you hungry and not satisfied, but you may crave something intensely sweet. And Oprah goes to many functions and parties, and having to dissect healthy food choices from gourmet dinners has got to take more will power than one can have. All food served in restaurants and at parties is made to taste good, and you know what that means in terms of calories and fat content.

Every author or person with their special cause would sell their first born to be on her show...And when her book club choices come out...we are all waiting with baited breath....It is hard to fathom how many books could be sold by this one inclusion.

She certainly has enough money to retire... and perhaps just play, but she goes on. She has done so much good in her life by helping people with her angel network, her special giveaways, her voice and more.

So I raise my glass with diet soda to her to go on for a long time!<bio>Author of For Kids 59.99 and Over...Speaker. http://www.carolstanley1.com Life is about staying healthy, taking care of ourselves and enjoying life each day.</bio>

You have probably heard of the two satellite radio companies, Sirius Radio and XM Satellite Radio, but you may not know a lot about them such as how much each costs or what radio talent is available on each. Many people are tired of listening to regular AM and FM radio stations for several reasons. It may be that they are tired of being bombarded with commercials. It may be that they do not like the programming available to them. On the other hand, it may simply be that they are in a rural area and tired of losing their radio signal all the time. Regardless of the reason, many consumers are turning to satellite radio as a viable alternative to regular radio stations.

Both companies are able to offer you static free radio due to satellites. XM (based in Washington D.C.) has two and Sirius (based in New York) has three satellites across the United States. Both companies offer users commercial free radio. Sirius offers over 125 channels and XM offers 160 different channels. There are dedicated channels for genres of music such as jazz, folk, country and pop for diehard fans. One cool feature of satellite radio is you can see the name of the artist playing as well as the song title. So never again do you have to spend time wondering just who sang that song you just heard! There are also channels for local weather and traffic, sports, comedy, women's issues, talk shows, even old time radio shows. Soon, you may be able to see video as well as hear audio on your satellite radios.

There are also celebrity shows for both satellite radio companies. Martha Stewart recently signed a deal to launch a 24-hour radio channel on Sirius Satellite Radio. And most everyone has heard that Howard Stern is on Sirius as well - uncensored. Having gotten in trouble with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for his radio talk show, he decided to jump to the uncensored airways of satellite radio. Since his show started, the Sirius subscriber base has increased by at least 2.7 million. If have satellite radio and want to hear National Public Radio (NPR), you will have to subscribe to Sirius as they are the only one offering NPR. But XM is not to be left behind by Sirius. XM signed Snoop Doggy Dog, but the big coop is Oprah. In September of 2006, XM users will be able to tune in to Oprah andamp; Friends. The new channel will offer broadcasts of The Oprah Winfrey Show, O, the Oprah Magazine and programming on fitness, health and self improvement.

All this sounds great, but what do you actually need to be able to receive satellite radio? You will need either a Sirius or an XM radio. This does not necessarily have to be a radio only for use in your car either. There are also home radios available today and there are even radios you can use both at home and in your car. The price for a basic radio offered by both Sirius and XM is as low as $49.99. You will also need to subscribe to a service. Both Sirius and XM charge $12.95 a month for you to receive satellite signals on your radio. However, if you have several cars with satellite radios, you can save by choosing the family plan available from both companies.

Just how popular is satellite radio becoming? In March of 2005, Hyundai announced that it would be the first automaker to put satellite radios in all of its models sold in the United States. Each Hyundai, including the popular Sonata, Santa Fe, and Elantra models, will come equipped with an XM satellite radio. When this was announced, shares in XM's parent company rose by more than 8 percent. Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz also announced in March 2005 that Sirius radios would be a dealer-installed option on some of their models.

So which satellite radio should you choose? That depends on you. You should check out the stations available by visiting each company on the web before making a decision. Both offer radios at comparable prices, so it really comes down to what you want to hear. Are you a Stern fan? Then you have to go with Sirius. But if you love Oprah, you can only hear her on XM. Regardless of which one you choose, you will no doubt be very pleased with the services and reception of satellite radio. <bio>Matt Barstow offers valuable tips and information about satellite radio, players, and services.
In February 2006, Oprah Winfrey challenged her television viewers and all other Americans to get out of debt. If you are currently suffering from debt than you know that it is difficult to overcome. That is why Oprah and a number of financial experts developed the Oprah Debt Diet.

Oprah's Debt Diet includes a step-by-step guide on overcoming debt. It is important to note that getting out of debt will not happen over night. That is why Oprah's step-by-step guide is important because it helps debt ridden individuals change their daily habits over time. If you are currently searching for a way out of debt you are encouraged to read on and learn a few of the steps in Oprah's Debt Diet.

Step # 1 - Determine Exactly How Much Debt You Have

This first step is extremely important because it is impossible to get completely out of debt if you are unaware of all of your debt. The easiest way to determine how much debt you owe is by collecting all of your current and overdue bills or by requesting a copy of your credit report. Your credit report can easily be obtained from one of the three main credit bureaus, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax.

Step #2 - Eliminate Unnecessary Expenses

Like many other Americans, it is likely that you grab a soda or coffee while at work. Those items are expensive and they quickly add up. Did you know that simply by eliminating unnecessary purchases you could get out of debt a lot quicker than you may have originally thought? Tracking all of your purchases for one week is a great way to know what items you can live without purchasing.

Step #3 - Learn About the Credit Cards You Have

Many Americans are falling victim to late fees, annual fees, and high interest rates without even knowing it. The best way to prevent credit card debt is by knowing how your credit card works. It is also important to know that minimum payments may sound great, but in reality they are a financial death trap because they only keep you in debt longer. If you successfully follow step 2, you could use your extra money to make more than the minimum payments each month.

Step #4 - Learn to Cut Back on Your Spending Habits

Step 2 mentioned eliminating unnecessary purchases. Eliminating unnecessary purchases is a great way to get out of debt, but it can be difficult to do. Individuals who are unable to control their spending habits are encouraged to not carry credit or debit cards with them. If a credit card is used, it is important to make the payments on time and pay as much of it as you can. It is also important not to obtain new credit cards during this time or accept offers of increased spending limits.

Step # 5 - Develop a Monthly Spending Plan

A monthly spending plan, also commonly referred to as budget, is a great way to allocate money to necessary expenses. A monthly budget is the best because it can include holidays, birthdays, and other special events that only occur during certain months. Your budget should include all housing costs and expenses, transportation expenses, other miscellaneous expenses, and the debt that you owe.

Step #6 - Develop Ways to Increase Your Income

When developing a budget, there are many Americans who realize that they do not make enough money to pay for all of their expenses and debt. If you are one of those individuals then you may want to consider finding ways to obtain extra income. Extra income does not necessarily mean having to get a second job. It can also mean altering your lifestyle. The Debt Diet recommends going without a vehicle if possible and relocating if your current home expenses are too high.

Step #7 - Develop a Customized Plan to Get Rid of Your Debt

A customized plan can be developed simply by prioritizing your debt. This means that you will examine all of your debt and determine which debt you need to pay off first. The date of the debt, how much it is, and what can happen if you don't pay it should be examined when deciding what or who to payoff first.

Step #8 - Determine Why You Spend Money and Try to Change It

Many unnecessary purchases are made when individuals are feeling angry or depressed. It is also possible that you are an impulse buyer or that you may have a shopping addiction. Whatever the reason for your unnecessary purchases, there are ways to change it. Sometimes this process may require professional help, but other times it can simply be cured with other activities.

Oprah's Debt Diet worked for the guests on her show and there is no reason why it cannot work for you. As previously mentioned, getting out of debt is difficult and it will not happen over night. If you sway away from any of the above mentioned steps do not give up. Try as many times as it may take. Once you make the steps of the Oprah Debt Diet a part of your daily routine you will be on your way to being debt free. <bio>Shelly Lowery is a successful writer with an interest in celebrities like Oprah Winfrey.
I had reached a stage where my credit card was approaching my limit and the monthly charges were crippling. I was going nowhere fast as the charges each month on top of trying to pay some off the total were getting too much! I found inspiration on the Oprah Winfrey Show of all places. I was so impressed by a strategy that helped viewers ask for a better deal from their credit card providers that I decided to give it a go myself.

I used my credit card for occasional travel and other business-related expenses as well as personal ones. I was careful to save money where I could. It's hard to find someone to help you on that. My keenness to find new ideas and tips on money is why the Oprah Winfrey Show recently caught my attention. They talked about how Americans could approach their credit card providers and pressure them to cut their rates. They even had a script you could use, so I downloaded it.

If Americans could use this approach why not Australians. I went on to my favourite ebook superstore cbdeluxe and there was a wealth of information there also. I then rang by credit provided and asked the question. They wrote back saying they were glad that I'd asked and would give me a rate reduction. This was a great result and I was delighted it was so easy!

After that experience, I urged my partner to contact his card provider, remind them what a good customer he's been and ask for a rate review on a rolling balance on his card. Initially they resisted, but we asked to speak to the supervisor.

They responded by saying that if we transferred the amount on my card balance to their card, they'd cut the rate for the life of the debt. We were staggered...it really pays to try this out. <bio>Sharon has spent more than 20 years in sales and marketing positions and now does marketing for online ventures.Sharon can be contacted at her website http://www.cbdeluxe.com/?mall=18847 More information on this subject can be found at my blog at http://gr8riches.com/gr8blog </bio>

Success in business is a rare thing. Most businesses fail today, not because they were built upon bad ideas, but because most business owners do not focus on what truly makes the difference between success and failure.

There is one skill, above and beyond any other skill, that is critical to your success in business. If you do not learn to adapt this skill, your business idea will probably either fail or not reach your intended level of success like ninety-eight percent of all start up businesses in the world today.

It does not matter whether you are running a restaurant, a retail store, an Internet business, or a home-based business; the necessity is still the same. This one skill is the biggest reason for success and failure in business.

Oprah knows the secret; so does Time Warner, Ted Tuner, McDonald's, Google, and Bill Gates. I could go on and on. They know the secret. Do you?

What is the secret?

It is the art and science of "Media Placement." This one skill reaps more rewards than any other aspect of business. You want to become a "Media Placement Specialist."

You might ask, "What is a 'Media Placement Specialist?'" Well, first of all, this is not about getting a certification to put on your resume to get a job. It is how to specialize in the skill of placing media to promote your business. It is also bigger than "traditional marketing."

When someone masters the art and science of placing media, they start to control the game. If they master many areas, they are what many experts call a "media mogul." A "media mogul" controls different forms of media and, ultimately, marketing.

Oprah Winfrey is a great example. She is self-made. She is a self-made billionaire media mogul. Oprah is now the owner of Harpo Productions, has her own TV show, had a radio show, and does print media and Internet marketing.

When you master the art and science of media placement, the idea is simple. Start small, and find one or two methods of media placement that work for you. You could start by trying Internet media placement, direct mail, pay-per-click, co-registration, or articles. The idea is to find a couple of means, start them working for you, and then you can grow your business and expand the types and amounts of media you use.

Today, Internet marketing is one of many media placement strategies you could use. It could be the single fastest, least expensive, low-risk type of media available today if you take the time to learn some of the secrets. Once you do your testing on the Internet, it makes it easy to expand into other types of media quickly.

There are many resources you can find that are available to learn the art of marketing, but there are very resources that teach the mastery of media placement. Take the time to learn it. It could become the best investment you have ever made. <bio>Mary Gersten is the V.P. of Operations for Global Cashflow Network, Inc., a continuing education and business development company best known for their industry changing 'Certified Media Placement Specialist (CMPs)' program.
Self Help has come a long way in the past several decades. It used to be that "women's issues" weren't even thought of let alone specialized in Universities, counseling centers and books all over the world. In just a few short decades, self help for women has burgeoned into a major industry and a worldwide movement. Entire countries that used to promote traditional cultures where women were expected to be submissive to their husbands are now taking up new values and becoming part of a globalization of equality.

Women's issues were traditionally overlooked in the past largely because of the fact that the jobs were simply held by men and the economy and industry of publications and counseling were exclusively male driven. Today, things have changed and there is plenty of self help available for specific women's issues as well. Women have issues that they still face concerning self esteem, sexuality and even "the perfect body image" but they can now face these issues out in the open and learn to grow and change just like men are doing. As human beings, we all have issues to contend with and none of us are perfect. It is a great step that we can now recognize this together and learn to grow spiritually regardless of our genders.

Some of the women's issues which are constantly challenged by the media and by product advertising today concern objectification and marginalization. These are issues that concern women individually and often require a person who has already "been there" who can help. One great program which has pioneered the movement against the marginalization of women is the Oprah Winfrey Show. Setting herself apart from many other self help guru's, Oprah avoids much of the negative language aimed against men and instead focuses on the solutions that women can use to overcome in society. The Oprah Winfrey Show also raises awareness of many other issues outside of just women's self help and thereby makes itself accessible to an even wider audience. This places the struggle for women's self esteem and self empowerment into a larger context of world issues rather than cutting it off from its connection to all issues that face humanity. Greater self esteem for women means greater self esteem for everyone and the Oprah Winfrey Show has been a great benefit to humanity because of this fact.

Self help books for women are widespread but some of the earlier works are especially notable for those who wish to get a foundational understanding of the issues. Interestingly, Anna Freud, the daughter of Dr. Sigmund Freud actually contributed to the work of psychoanalysis in a very profound way when she wrote the famous work The Ego and Mechanisms of Defense. This is one of the classic works of psychoanalysis which actually brought together many of her father's ideas in a more succinct and clear fashion thus making them more easily identifiable for all people. Another great book which is part of the classic works on women's issues comes from Nancy Friday and is entitled My Mother Myself. Here, Nancy Friday investigates the core issues which involve women in relationship with their mother's and uncovers the common reasons for self esteem issues in women. She leads the reader to a deeper understanding of herself so that she may identify her issues more readily and find a way to move ahead in her life. Although a third book has been largely left behind in terms of the women's movement, Carol Gilligan's book In a Different Voice was a groundbreaking work decades ago in terms of the women's movement and is still offered in many University courses today.

Wherever you choose to start, there is a wellspring of information on women's self help today. Women have taken the lead in terms of personal growth in many areas and have caused men to stand up and take notice as they lead the way into a better future for all of us. <bio>Gary Miller was the World's Leading expert on Negative Thinking until he lost approximately $3 Million Dollars because of a lifetime of negative thinking.
I've been inundated recently by emails saying `You've received a greeting card from a school mate' and `You've received a postcard from a worshipper!' or similar.

Being of a suspicious mind I didn't click on any of these. A brief search would show you that these links take you to sites that attempt to drive malware on to your computer or tempt you to click on virus laden downloads. Quite simply =96 don't click on anything you don't trust!

But it put me in mind of other famous email scams that are becoming more prevalent now that the harvesting of email addresses seems to be reaching epidemic proportions.

One of the other common scams I see in my Junk Email folder each day is the variations on the `Nigerian Scam'. These prey on the reader's willingness to help and the innate greed that attracts the unwary. They usually start with `Please help me' and go on to request your help in `freeing' funds from an overseas organization. Before you know it you will have divulged your bank account information and sent a small `token' amount to cover transfer fees or legal fees or similar requests.

What about the `Prizewinner's Scam'? Seen that one? Tempting isn't it? Here's an email claiming that you've won millions in a prize winning draw or lottery and all you have to do is email back, with personal details, to claim it! Well it might seem a bit strange that you haven't entered the draw or lottery concerned but then, wow, you must have struck lucky. But don't, please don't reply. They'll hook you in just like a fish on a line.

There again Oprah must be disgusted that her name's been stolen by the `Oprah Paypal Scam'. This one's a clever turn on the mail-link-letter system that used to clog up the mail systems except that here you send a small sum to the name on the top of the list in the hope of receiving thousands back. Wave bye-bye to your cash!

But these are just the more obvious ones. Ever been seduced by the `Data Entry Scam', the `$1.67 a Day Scam' or the `Western Union Scam', amongst others? Forewarned is forearmed. I'll explain all about them and exactly what to watch out for at wealth-providers(dot)com. <bio>Jonathan Paston views and reviews Internet Marketing books and courses at http://www.wealth-providers.com . The first step to building a powerful network is to ask yourself, "Who do I want to meet?"

Take a piece of paper and write at the words, "My dream team" at the top and then jot down the names of these individuals. By writing it down, it becomes more than an intention, it becomes a personal goal. You may even want to post pictures of these people by your desk. Have fun with this. You could even draw a picture of you and your dream network all standing arm and arm like pals at a party. The key here is that if you can picture it, you can make it happen!

=> Step 2. Where can I go to meet my Dream Network people?

If you are creative, there are lots of ways to meet people. First, check if they have a web site. If they do, look to see if their contact information is listed. Another way to check is to see whom the individual is affiliated with. Do they partner with any other companies? Is their contact information on a recent press release or news article? Is their information listed in the Who Is database for their domain? Now, write down their contact info.

Step 3. What will I say to when I approach someone in my Dream Network?

If you were having dinner with Oprah, what would you talk about? Ask yourself, "Why should they care?" Remember that these people don't know you from Adam. You need to give Oprah a reason to be interested and care about what you have to say. The more you know about the your dream network individuals, the more it will allow you to have a genuine conversation with them.

Tell Oprah how much you liked her recent show on "Work at Home Success". Tell her home much you loved the latest book in her book club. Tell her how she has inspired you in your life. People love to talk about themselves. So be interested and ASK!

For example, if you read their newsletter or use their product, tell them what you like about it and why. After you engage with them, them ask, what you can offer them, how you can help them, why you like them, who you know that could help them. If you end the conversation with this, you are establishing a connection and a way that you can work together.

If you don't know much about the person, then you need to learn what they do, why they do it and what makes them tick. Below are some key questions you could ask.

KEY QUESTIONS TO ASK

A) Connect with them, learn more about them

If you say, "Tell me about yourself", people freeze up. For better results, ask them a specific question.

- How'd you hear about this event? - How do you know the host? - What type of work do you do? - How did you get in this line of work? - What projects are you working on? - What do you hope to accomplish?

B) Ask out how they can help you

- Could I ask your advice about a particular situation you are facing? - Who do you know that I should talk to?

C) How can you help them?

- Ask them how you could help them. If you have listened to them, you should be a to tailor an answer that offers a true way to assist them. - Invite them to participate a project or event with you. - Invite them to attend a seminar - Tell them who YOU know that could help them.

=> Step 4: Make the connection.

Ready to take the plunge and make the connection? You could start by making an initial contact by email or phone. Another way is to learn if there are any bulletin boards that they frequent. What business events are they attending? It may be well worth the price of attending a seminar, if you get a chance to meet the right people. Are they a member of any groups or associations that you can join? Do they support any charity causes that you could get involved in? Why not send them a surprise? No one can resist a thoughtful gesture such as sending flowers, a book, or other small gift. Even a hand written card will make a nice first impression. If you can't seem to contact them directly, then find out who the gatekeeper is.

SUMMARY

I encourage you to start dreaming about who you'd like to meet, and how they could help you. What type of people would you like to add to your mastermind group? Who Could you add to your list of advisors? Who could you partner with? The Internet makes the world a smaller place. Now we can reach out and connect with neighbors, friends, and potential partners anywhere with the click of a mouse. Dare to start connecting today and you'll be on your way to making your dream network come true! <bio>Article by Kristie Tamsevicius - Kristie Tamsevicius turns entrepreneurs into the lavishly paid in-demand experts in their field.
Oprahbama, the big O's, Oprah and the Obamas =96 sounds like a rock band on a road trip. As Oprah hit the campaign trail recently, her candidate played the celebrity card and the female fan base responded. When you need it, the value of support simply cannot be overestimated.

Oprah is a driving force, with her message of empowering women and her success at moving product. So, for now, the contest for the democratic nomination is more up in the air. Hillary pulled out all the stops, spending her time drumming up support with her mom and daughter close by her side. Are you in the same boat, as Sandwiched Boomers in the midst of dealing with aging parents and growing children? Do you need some help in finding support for yourself? Learn how to go about it from the following ideas:

1. Educate yourself about what to expect and the various organizations or resources available to you. Talk to friends and family whose opinions you respect. Collaboration is essential during such a critical period of time. Reach out and create a network =96 you don't have to do it alone.

2. Be frank with your family. Engage your siblings in the problems and the solutions. Put emotional and logistical support systems in place as you ask for practical help and delegate responsibilities. Have them set aside personal agendas and work together toward collective goals.

3. Find a class or workshop that addresses your specific concerns. Local university extension programs or mental health centers provide training seminars about a variety of concerns and problems that are common to Sandwiched Boomers.

4. Join an ongoing group or attend a weekend retreat to share concerns, problem-solve and gain new perspective. A therapist or a coach can be a sounding board, validate your perceptions, support your ideas and help you follow through with your plans.

5. As knowledge is power, try to better understand the difficult transitions your family in flux is going through. Gather information about how to manage change from the Internet's search engines or the self-help section of bookstores. Talk to others who have gone through similar experiences in order to get realistic feedback and some concrete advice.

6. Dig deep and find your own inner voice =96 listen to what it has to say about caring for your family relationships and nurturing yourself personally. Set some specific goals about what you need from your family and for you. Step by step, work toward achieving them.

Perhaps the marriage of show business and politics is a little too Hollywood for your taste. Obama and Hillary are focused on the best way to achieve maximum political advantage. For you, it's more about building a support system, not star power. How to get the vote of confidence, from those whose reinforcement you need, may be the crux of your struggle right now. Pitch for the demographic that will buoy you up in times of need. And save the best seats in the house for those who will continue to work on your behalf.

=A9 2007, Her Mentor Center <bio>Phyllis Goldberg, Ph.D. and Rosemary Lichtman, Ph.D. are co-founders of http://www.HerMentorCenter.com, a website for midlife women and http://www.NourishingRelationships.Blogspot.com, a Blog for the Sandwich Generation.
This whole thing about writing resumes has totally gone insane. Crafting a resume is quite simple. Simply be yourself, do not use funky colors, and sell your qualifications. Here are the top 10 resume writing tips to ending your job search and landing you a job.

1. To begin, top off everything with your name. Be proud of your name since that's what you're actually selling to the interviewers.

2. In some cases, but not always, employment professionals recommend listing the type of position sought. Meanwhile, others say this is limiting, and that you should keep the options open.

3. Some employment experts recommend your qualifications be placed high and above. List your job qualifications concisely, careful not to be too obvious by exaggerating your qualifications.

4. Sell the real you and your actual qualifications. Providing misleading information about yourself could lead to potential jobs that would be wrong for you and the employer.

5. When the appropriate time comes, use action verbs. Avoid putting your reader or interviewer to sleep. Don't overdue it.

6. There's no substitute for honest. At all cost, never ever lie on your resume. A single deception could get you booted from the list of candidates for the job and in extreme cases; you can get fired when the truth is discovered long after you were hired.

7. Simply be honest but don't over brag. Lightly brag about true accomplishments without sounding line an egomaniac. Remember, employers undoubtedly are reviewing other resumes in which your competitors are unafraid to applaud themselves. Don't give the competitors the edge because of dishonesty and too much bragging.

8. When it comes to education, list major schooling first and avoid far-away basics, such as elementary schools. Very few employers, unless they're relatives, care about those early years in school. Some experts recommend education be listed toward the end, especially if you haven't had much schooling or training for the job your applying for.

9. If you've earned a few awards or recognitions, be sure to include their details. In some cases, this could prove the difference in getting an interview.

10. Finally, when adding references to your resume, only add those references that may help you get the job. Do not include your old friend Tommy whom you haven't seen in many years and have no clue about the job you're applying for. Before you add someone as a reference, call them and acknowledge them ahead or after. <bio>Fenick Jean is a Radiologic Technologist and runs a personal web site at http://www.superhaitian.com .
If you are a baby boomer then you'll remember the good old days when you played outside all day and complained vehemently when you were told to go inside for the night.

If you take a look outside these days the streets are fairly empty with few people even walking on the sidewalk or playing in the grass. We've become somewhat paranoid and the game has changed.

It seems like the children have lost their freedom to play safely outside by themselves and with their friends. Instead we now have very controlled environments of driving your child to a friend's house or taking them to various extra curricular activities. While this is still valid I find it a shame that we are victims of fear in this society. We also have more children becoming couch potatoes watching TV or playing video games. You've probably noticed obesity on the rise in America and this is true for our children as well.

But we can have some of the good old days back and here are some things you can do to make it safer to let your kids play outside;

1)If several kids on your street that play together, you can get together as adults and assign on a rotating basis who will keep an eye on all the kids while the others are getting important things done. But do this job with great care. You have precious little future adults that still look to you for safety.

2)Better still, play games with them. Someone who is looking to annoy, tease or do harm, is less likely to do so if active adults are on the scene.

3)Prepare for possible emergency. A family plan firmly in place and understood by all and *drilled*, may be more successful then not having a plan at all. An example of something you can do, is hang a whistle on a string. Every time the kids go out they put the whistle around their necks. They are taught that they blow the whistle hard in an emergency situation only! Tell them the cry wolf story and let them know what the consequences are for blowing the whistle in a non emergency situation. Can you imagine if all parents in your area are grooved in on this and you hear a whistle go off, you may have half a dozen people or more flying out the door instantly to investigate.

4)Last year on the Oprah Winfrey show there was a family that had an emergency plan in place that was quite ingenious. In a prior family meeting they developed a code and I believe it was a number code, but any simple code would suffice. They were told never ever reveal the code to anyone for any reason. It paid off because a man approached their younger daughter and told her, that her parents wanted him to bring her home. She asked him for the code. He could not produce one and instantly she ran and averted a potential disaster. On the show, Oprah tried to get the girl to reveal the code but the little girl remained true and would not reveal it. She was highly praised by Oprah and I thought this was a fantastic plan the parents had come up with. It worked for them and could possibly work for you.

5)Adults are obviously much stronger than children but that doesn't mean that a child cannot hurt an adult. Karate or Tae Kwan Do classes can be of benefit to boys and girls. It can not only build character and strength, but it can also teach them how to get out of certain grips and holds and where to hit in an emergency situation. It may be enough to get away. Also, it's a great way to keep them fit and healthy.

6)I think that the best thing you can do is teach your child to be aware. If children learn early on basic safety precautions, it becomes a life long habit. Do you remember as a kid walking down the street, staring at the sidewalk as you were walking? Teach your children not to do that. Have them scan ahead and all around. This will do two things; a) they can spot potential trouble ahead of time and b) it gets you out of your head and seeing the world around you. This is good for you to do as well.

Kids need to play and be social and it's ok to get dirty sometimes. I see it all the time with my grandchildren that they are the most happy and energetic when they are outside. They actually fight less and work more as a team with each other and their friends when they can safely play outside. Make yourself and your children more aware and for peat sake, have some fun! <bio>Willie is a freelance writer and researcher and is dedicated in bringing information on health related issues and other topics. http://www.babysnkids.com </bio>

These days, everyone wants the red carpet look without the million dollar price tag. If this sounds too good to be true, think again. Thanks to celebrity inspired jewelry, it's now possible for anyone to own the best on a budget.

The craze with celebrity inspired jewelry first began with the diamond engagement ring given by Ben Affleck to Jennifer Lopez. A large emerald-cut pink diamond takes center stage as the main focal point of this beauty. One each side, white baguette diamonds proudly accentuate the enormous center stone. Fans fell in love with this ring around the world, which lead to the demand for designers to recreate the ring in a look that anyone could afford. The result was a sterling silver creation featuring a large emerald-cut pink cubic zirconia center stone, which is accented by white baguette cubic zirconia on each side.

It wasn't long before the trend of wearing celebrity inspired engagement rings became the next big thing in fashion jewelry. When Nick Lachey proposed to Jessica Simpson, a beautiful pear-cut diamond ring came into style in a big way. This bold beauty dazzled the media and fans alike. With one diamond located on each side of the stunning pear-cut center stone, Simpson's new ring was as bright as the spotlight itself. Once again, designers came through with a creation that everyone could afford. A bold sterling silver band with a large white cubic zirconia pear-cut center stone, which is accented by white cubic zirconia on each side, began showing up on jewelry lovers around the globe.

When it came to trends, Lachey and Simpson weren't the only musical duo making their way into the line of celebrity inspired jewelry. Kevin Federline gave Britney Spears a stunning ring featuring a cushion-cut center diamond sitting atop a double row of connected diamond-encrusted bands. The inspired design was recreated in sterling silver and glistening white cubic zirconia. The cushion-cut center stone, which replicates a flawless diamond, sits boldly above a double band of cubic zirconia accents.

What line of celebrity inspired jewelry would be complete without a dazzling pair of earrings? As far as trend setters go, Oprah Winfrey is one of the best. Not only has she made a name for herself in the media, but also for her fantastic fashion sense. Oprah's famous pear drop diamond earrings won her fans over in a flash. The design features a round white diamond stud and a large pear-cut diamond dangling below. In an effort to recreate this stunning design, jewelry manufacturers released their own version done in affordable sterling silver. Like Oprah's authentic diamonds, the inspired earring features a round white cubic zirconia stud and a dramatic pear shaped cubic zirconia dangling below. Because the earring is available in cubic zirconia and sterling silver, fans can have the look of the real diamond earring for a lot less cash.

When it comes to red carpet wear, the styles are both dramatic and unique. Any woman who watches the annual award shows will probably agree that seeing the glamorous jewelry is one of the most interesting aspects of the red carpet arrivals. Not many can afford a million dollar ring or necklace, but most could afford that look if it were created in sterling silver and cubic zirconia. Thanks to celebrity designers, including Nolan Miller and Charles Winston, many of today's most expensive looks can be worn by those who only watch the red carpet from afar as opposed to actually walking on it. <bio>For more information on celebrity inspired jewelry and cubic zirconia rings, visit Almost Diamonds at http://www.almostdiamonds.com </bio>

As you surf the television stations during the daytime, you may encounter an assortment of reality TV, as well as talk shows. One of the more popular installments to the entertainment lineup in the afternoon is called the Dr. Phil Show, which is hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw, who gained a following from his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2002, McGraw was given his own show that debuted on September 16th, which took the same format as his "Tuesdays With Dr. Phil" segment on Oprah.

McGraw utilized his life strategies approach to solving problems, which he based on his experiences as a clinical psychologist. Through his own show, McGraw covered a wide range of human interest and real-life experiences that tackled weight loss, unruly children, kids with disabilities, unhappy marriages, financial planning, and promoting good causes. Decorated with serious banter with fleeting humorous moments, the Dr. Phil Show also used therapy sessions to bring families together and solve major problems.

In 2006, the occasionally presented Dr. Phil House series was created. In this program, McGraw and the production staff cater to an assortment of guests who gather at a specialized house wired with cameras and microphones. As the staff monitors the conversations of guests, better advice and counseling can be tailored to help solve individual and group problems. In cases where physical violence is present, the constant monitoring helps staff to intervene and keep guests on task.

Throughout the seasons, the Dr Phil Show has experienced its fair share of incidents that most talk shows go through. For instance, lie detector tests revealed flaws in the testimony of twin sisters who appeared on the show who were portrayed as holding differing opinions regarding the adult entertainment industry. While one sister admitted being part of the industry, the other twin claimed to resent the idea. It was later revealed that the two sisters had already appeared in many adult movies together.

Today, the show is in syndication throughout Canada and the United States, as well as other countries. As for future plans, the show has been renewed to last at least until the 2012 --2013 season. <bio>Opinions in this article do not necessarily reflect the view of http://www.markhoustonrecovery.com/dr_phil.php / http://www.markhoustonrecovery.com/sitemap.php which the author would like for you to visit. </bio>

How celebrities look like is a never-ending fantasy for almost everyone. They look gorgeous in TV, in films and everywhere they go. They brighten up award nights of almost every kind and photographers compete to catch a shot of their marvelous walk down a red carpet. An aura of invincibility surrounds their beautiful appearance and one just worries how anyone can remain there with the features in tact. The appearance of celebrities buys them food (clothes, cars and mansions) and they have to pay extra attention to retain the features that fans love. Just as the clothes, hairstyle and makeup they wear, they are also disciplined to keep their body in shape.

The diet, rest and workout of sexy celebrities give a clue to their secret of staying fit and rosy. Here are the diet secrets of seven women celebrities.

1. Jennifer Aniston

This phenomenal TV star has a large fan following. Thanks to her witty comments, much imitated hairstyle and a sexy slender body. She adores the covers of countless magazines. Staying trim and fit is the result of discipline at personal diet. Her diet follows a 40:30:30 rule.

40% Low sugar carbohydrates -Beans, legumes, fruits and vegetables give the necessary carbohydrates

30% lean proteins -Low fat dairy products, chicken, turkey, beef, Tofu and fish

30% essential fats -nuts and seeds, fish and olive oils

It is essential to have a well balanced diet to ensure essential nutrients, hormonal balance and weight loss.

2. Kate Hudson

Do you wonder how this gorgeous daughter of Goldie Hawn shed the extra 60 pounds she gained during her pregnancy? Kate Hudson quickly switched to a high protein diet and got herself into a systematic workout plan. Silencing the last voice of criticism on the figures she had after her pregnancy, she shed all the extra pounds and gained some abs to the envy of many. Her high protein diet coupled with aerobics and weight training surely is beneficial for female bodies.

3. Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey, the celebrated talk show host has to retain her appearance for the sake of millions of her audience around the world. With a body that quickly attracts body mass, Oprah has to fight that extra fat on a regular basis. Oprah Winfrey works out five days a week, spending 30 minutes at treadmill and doing free-weight. She eats fruits, nuts, legumes, vegetables, fish, chicken, and low fat dairy products. Avoids sugar and white flour and she is proud that she doesn't eat anything after seven in the evening.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow

Does Gwyneth Paltrow diet? Normal question from many fans, Gwyneth follows an eating regime that abhors dairy products, sugar and white flour. Vegetables, brown rice and lean meat are regular in her plate. Yoga is another secret to her perfect figures.

5. Madonna

The pop star that is the dream of men around the world, Madonna the Material Girl has the body to die for. She made her name synonymous to fitness and keeping sexy figures for so long. Her love to Ashtanga yoga and dislike to junk food ensure her body remains in shape. Her organic diet is rich in lean protein and junk food is out of question.

6. Claudia Schiffer

This super model from Germany has one the simplest diet plan among all celebrities. She takes fruits, tea and honey for breakfast, salads or soups for lunch and chicken or tuna salad or a piece of regular chicken for supper. For supper it can also be vegetables only. While on locations, you can see her eating black grapes and drinking tomato juice or herbal tea.

7. Christie Brinkley

This vegetarian supermodel with all-American looks shuns junk food of all kinds and even doesn't give junk food items access to her refrigerator. Occasionally snacks on sweet potatoes, but avoids candy bars, Christie Brinkley shifts to a juice diet whenever she feels the need of slimming down fast.

Constantly on the eyes of public and more importantly closer to lens, celebrities cannot adopt a lax attitude on their appearance. Maybe ordinary people too can appear trimmed and healthy just like the celebrities do. After all celebrities too are ordinary people that happen to be more on focus. <bio>George Knight is a health-lover and the owner of several information sites, including "101 Health Matters" at http://www.101healthmatters.com.
Green tea is now being touted as a natural remedy for losing weight. It was bound to happen sooner or later, because this herb from Asia has been admired for over 5,000 years as kind of a wonder cure for many ailments.

Green tea is mainly grown in China, India and Japan. People in these cultures are well skilled in making the perfect cup of green tea. The higher quality green tea is steeped for no longer than 30 seconds. You can usually make one to three cups with the same tea bag.

Green tea drinkers have long credited its medicinal value. They claim it helps to heal wounds, regulate blood pressure and solve digestion problems. Studies by Western medical professionals have discovered that green tea contains a powerful antioxidant called Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG). You will often see this as an active ingredient in green tea diet drinks and supplements.

Green tea does have some minimal effect on the body's fat cells, however, it is not some kind of miracle weight loss cure as some marketers want you to believe. If you choose to drink green tea for weight loss, then you will still need to eat a healthy diet and do some moderate exercise in order to reach your weight loss goals.

Green tea is a great substitute for that cup of coffee in the morning (or more) that you normally drink. Green tea also has some caffeine, but it's only about one quarter the amount that coffee contains. This means you can drink several cups of green tea before you get the same amount of caffeine in one cup of java.

Green tea is simply healthier than coffee, although coffee is still okay to drink in moderation. If you are a coffee connoisseur, you know that coffee beans are grown in different regions, which gives the beans a distinctive taste when roasted. Well, green tea also has this type of variety. The tea is grown in many regions of China, Japan and India, and comes in different colors and flavor varieties.

High quality green tea will have more EGCG and antioxidant power than the lower quality variety. This doesn't mean you have to pay an arm and a leg to obtain a box of this delightful herb. Some marketers are selling good quality green tea for an outrageous price and calling it diet tea. They are taking advantage of the green tea diet fad and filling their pockets by overcharging.

Don't fall for this scam. Some of these unscrupulous marketers are even linking Oprah's name with their product, giving people the impression that she is endorsing it, when she has done no such thing. Yes, Oprah did have Dr. Perricone on her show and they discussed the benefits of Chinese tea for losing weight, but there is no specific Oprah tea brand being endorsed.

Any high quality green tea will have the same antioxidants and the same slimming effects that you are looking for, many brands can be found for half the price that the so called diet teas run. If you are going to drink green tea every day as part of a healthy diet, then you cannot afford to plop down $30 to $50 dollars every time you need another box of diet tea. That will get old real fast, and like I said, you can get good quality tea for way less.

So, does green tea help with weight loss?

Yes, it does and you should drink green tea for all of its wonderful health benefits, including losing weight and feeling great. <bio>Delicious Wuyi green tea is 100% natural and organic. The perfect tea for health and fitness. This pure, Chinese green tea is pre-brewed in individual packets, so all you have to do is mix it with water. Drink healthy and live happy. http://greenteaforweightloss.blogspot.com </bio>

When you're trying to pitch your book, the last thing you need is old, outdated or false information. PR and marketing guidelines change frequently and what worked five years ago no longer works today. For some red hot publicity that will get you to the top of the pitching file, we've unveiled some PR secrets you won't hear anywhere else but here.

Trying to get on Oprah? Here are some things we're betting you never knew about getting on her show: Sending samples and books to the Oprah Show is pretty standard fare for most publicity people, but did you know that Oprah's producers actually prefer finding products or books on their own? Instead of pitching the show, why not pitch some publications in the Chicago area instead and let a producer at the Oprah Show "stumble" on it themselves!

If you think that Oprah's producers are just in Chicago, think again. The show is known for having "scouts" all over the country; this means that if you're in Seattle publicizing your book, you might just be getting on the radar screen of one of the most powerful shows on television.

And speaking of getting on a national show, we all know this can be great PR for your book, but did you know that if you don't have proper distribution it might dissuade a producer from featuring your book? You bet. By now most producers are well aware of the avalanche of books that have inundated the industry. They don't want to look bad for picking a book or product no one can get, so be sure and add an info sheet in your media packet telling the producer that your book is available nationwide.

Trying to decide when to send out your release? Well, timing does matter! If it's business related, avoid contacting the press between the 15th and 22nd of April, July, and October. That's when publicly held companies release quarterly earnings reports. As for days of the week, Monday is the worst day to send your release. The best day? Thursday. Thursdays are notoriously slow news days.

Got an event coming up? It might make more sense listing your event on craigslist rather than pitching it to local media. Why? Well, if your event is free you can list it on craigslist at no charge and you could potentially drive crowds to your event, as opposed to the sometimes hit and miss efforts from traditional publicity. A couple of things to remember are that you can't list events in multiple cities at the same time; the folks at craigslist check this periodically. Events are kept live on the site until the event date has passed.

Despite what some folks might tell you, faxes do not work. While it might be easy to toss a press release on a fax machine and start sending it out to some media contacts, I can guarantee you 99.9% of the time they'll be ignored and tossed.

Do press kits really work? Well, yes and no. The days of the fancy press kit filled with equally fancy gifts are gone. In fact, more and more the media are paying closer attention to press kits that are more powerful in substance then they are in flash. So keep your press kit lean, mean and real -- you'll not only save yourself a lot of expense but you'll probably get your book noticed a lot quicker.

Now the second piece to this is how valid your kit is. By "valid" we mean how much of the information is verifiable. When the media gets your kit the first place they might go to verify the contents is the Web. If your Internet presence doesn't match what your kit says about you, you've probably just lost the interview.

When you're pitching a magazine, many PR folk will tell you to pitch them six to eight months out. The truth is pitching times have shrunk -- we've seen magazines accept pitches with only a three-month window. Call first to check when a particular issue will close before assuming you've missed your window.

If you want to get into publications like The Washington Post or Newsweek, don't pitch them, blog on them. Both of these sites (and many other sites with high profile publications) have added a new "Blog Round Up" box on their sites. It reports on people who have blogged on their stories. All techie- babble aside, here's what you do: blog on one of the articles on their site, link it using a trackback link and submit this to http://Technorati.com. This site will report back to these publications and they'll link to you (and your site) and voila! A feature on Newsweek or whichever publication you chose!

So you see, it's not always about creating the perfect pitch or press release. Sometimes it's about being unconventional, innovative and a tad adventurous. We hope our secrets help you unlock the powerful publicity kingdom!

Wishing you Publishing (and publicity) success! <bio>Penny C.
