The first step in voice training is awareness. I have heard some colleagues say that unless one has a specific speech problem, voice training is something solely for singers and perhaps actors. In summary, voice training is, most importantly, getting the performer to think outside the box. I learned how important breath control acquired through voice training is in music. So, how do you know if one on one voice training is for you, and how do you find a coach suited for your voice. In some cases formal voice training is valuable. Voice training is tedious. Proper voice training is essential so that you can learn to utilize this natural instrument without damaging it. Classical voice training is a plus factor.

The goal of this study is to define the long-term influence of vocal hygiene education and the effectiveness of voice training. This network provides a variety of high-quality vocal coaching and voice training tools. Vocal coaching for all levels and styles - pop, rock, urban, dance, music theatre and opera. Focus on breath control and expanding vocal range. Look for "vocal stress-busters" sprinkled throughout the internet. These are short songs to sing. Respect your vocal limits. So what makes you think that you do not need vocal lessons? Everyone can sing, but it is difficult to sing well without vocal training. Voice care is important for vocal health. Even a slight change in your vocal cords can render your voice unrecognizable.

With a music tutor, the performer may see whether he/she is singing at the correct pitch and how high the musical quality of his/her voice is. You will need to train to release the full potential of your voice. You can try books on singing, speech training and voice training. If you want to try it alone then I recommend the singing programs: 'Singing Success' or 'The Ultimate Voice Training for Singers'. If you are already singing professionally, then it is vital that you take up voice training to separate you from the crowd. You will need excellent, safe techniques for singing, speaking, and acting. The skill of directing the sound and holding it there during singing creates the artistry of proper voice training. Learn the same technique used by popular singing stars. A song based method for developing the singing voice. Performance training, group singing can help you project your singing voice. Start training and singing today.

Voice training is complex. To reach your full potential it takes a lot of practice. You will need to be dedicated to the art of singing. Make sure you take care of your voice and don't over do it. <bio>David Marc Fishman is the owner of http://www.bornasuperstar.com . http://www.bornasuperstar.com in the following categories, dancers, singers, magicians and comedians. </bio>

The Paris Opera House is thought to be one of the greatest pieces of architecture of its period. Located on the northern part of Avenue De L'Opera in the 9e arrondisement , it was founded in 1669 by King Louis XIV.

The idea of the Opera house was first proposed in the 1858 during the Second Empire by Baron Haussmann who was granted authorization for the project by Napoleon III. About 12000 square meters of land was cleared and a thirty five year old architect by the name of Charles Garnier was chosen to design the Opera House.

In 1861, construction began and 14 years later the building was complete. There were a number of significant delays however, first there were issues such as the Paris Commune, and the Franco Prussian War and then, there was a problem with the location. The ground was marshy and full of underground water.

For eight months, the site had to undergo constant pumping before the base could be put down and it was said to have formed an underground reservoir. This reservoir became the idea behind the setting of "The Phantom of the Opera"

On January 15, 1875 marked the opening of the Palais Granier (Paris Opera House). There was a performance of La Juive with Fromental Halevy and excerpts of Les Hugentos with Gaicomo Meyrebeer.

The editor John Norwich of Great Architecture of the World reports that a contemporary critic thought the Opera House looked like "an overloaded sideboard" The place is ornate and decorated with marble friezes of various colors.

The interior is filled with gold leaf and velvet. There are cherubs and nymphs everywhere. The chandelier is over six tons in weight. The ceiling itself was painted by Marc Chagall in 1964. The Opera House is 11000 square meters (11844 square feet) with a platform that can fit more than 400 artists and there are over 2000 seats for the audience.

The Opera House is now thought to be a masterpiece because Garnier had made wonderful use of the difficult and cramp site. The carriage ramps, the steps, the foyers and staircases were both planned and sectioned with skill and confidence.

Garnier was accused of being overly ornate, just like Napoleon and Haussman were criticized of having old and imperialist ideas but the critics forget to keep in mind that cities need their grand monuments and without Napoleon, Garnier, and Haussman, Paris could not have been thought of as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. <bio>Anne Morris writes articles about travel.
Some singers catapulted to stardom rather quickly, some sparkled, flickered a little and then faded into obscurity while most singers stayed the same for years if not forever at mediocrity level?

Why is it that most singers never make it big in their singing career, not to say becoming superstars? Well, for starters, most singers begin their career as a lounge singer, singing in small clubs and belting out cover versions of established and popular singers. They selection of songs will be dictated by their audiences and so they must cover a wide genre of songs.

At one moment, you can enjoy a Barbara Streisand ballad and then the next song will be a fast Chaka Khan number followed by latin inspired Michael Buble's 'Sway'. Yes, it is good to be versatile and able to sing songs of various styles and genre. In fact it is even admirable if you can sing a Celine Dione number and sounded like Celine and then a Frank Sinatra swing sounding like ol' blue eyes himself.

However, as a famous vocal coach, Brett Manning once said, 'I have coached dozens of young women who can now sing almost exactly like Celine Dion. But then again, who wants a counterfeit when the real Celine Dione is already available?' This quote is taken from Brett's article 'How to build a successful singing voice'.

In other words, most singers just take it as part of their job to sound like the original cover versions of songs and never try to create a distinctive sound and style of their own. Now, if all singers sounded alike, how would you get noticed and recognized for who you are? How to make it big as a singer when you can only sing other people's song and imitate other singer's style of singing?

Let me ask you a question, how many times have you heard a song being sung and immediately able to identify the singer although you have never heard that particular song performed by the singer? Many times isn't it? Why? Because every prolific singer's voice and style are like their thumbprint. It is distinguishable from the rest of the pack. That is why they stand out and get noticed.

If you want your singing voice to get noticed and make it big as a singer, develop a distinctive style and voice of your own. After all, you have sung so many singer's style that you can use these influences to develop your own and stand out from the crowd.

Till next time, happy singing. <bio>Chris Chew is a personal development trainer and is still jamming and singing with bands at his leisure.
Make sure you buy the right one!

Shopping for a music stand is easy. Deciding which music stand will fit your needs might not be as easy.

To shop for a music stand all you have to do is go to a music store or do an online search. If you walk into a music store you'll see the music stands the prices for each. If you do an online search, you can see pictures of the music stands that are out there and again find out how much each one is. That is the easy part.

The hard part is figuring out which music stand you need. There are several different music stands that are designed very differently.

The opera stand is an illuminated music stand for the opera singer. The stem on it is designed so that it does not interfere with the opera singer's feet if they sit down. The opera stands can be nested together for easy storage.

The wooden stand is made to match a modern or historic concert hall. These stands are made of polished metal stems and natural wood trays. These stands nest together for compact storage also. The jazz stand is a music stand that folds. It will fold down to the size of the tray. It is an adjustable stand for sitting or standing to play or sing. To store them, they will stand right next to each other or you can store them folded. If they are folded, they store one right on top of another.

The school music stand is designed for students. It is unbreakable. It does not have knobs, but rather raises and lowers easily. It has an extra lip on the tray for pencils and erasers. These also nest together for easy storage.

The studio stand is a modern looking stand for all types of musicians. It is like the opera stand, except it does not have the light attached to it. It is designed so that if the musician swings their legs, they will not knock the stand over. Like many of the other music stands, they are designed to be nested together for storage.

The scherzo stand is a foldable stand. It is made of aluminum. The aluminum makes it very lightweight for easy transportation. Now that you know how each music stand is designed, you can decide which music stand will work best for your music needs. <bio>http://www.musicstandworld.com is filled with music stand articles and wooden music stand resources </bio>

So you want to be a good lead singer and front a popular band or even an orchestra? If your answer is yes, then do you have a distinctive singing style or are you singing songs with the style of other singers?

What I mean is that how are you going to be different and stand out from thousands of other bands and singers doing just cover versions and imitating the singing styles of their favorite bands and lead singers?

Here are some tips on how to develop your own distinctive singing style. Firstly, go view the performances of famous singers fronting their bands from various musical genres. Notice how distinctive they are as each singer deliver the songs with their own natural distinctive style.

Let us take a look at some of the more distinctive singers starting off with Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones. Take note of how he pouts his lips and strut cockily on stage exuding sex appeal and confidence at the same time. The style has become his distinctive trademark. It is Mick Jagger's personal branding and only imitators of Mick Jagger do what he does and imitators will remain just that, imitators.

Fronting your band and get noticed allboils down to personal branding so that you are perceived to be different from others and thus attract attention and notice.

I am sure that if I name you some more popular lead singers, you will immediately associate with that singer mentally having a clear mental picture of that singer during a performance.

Take Elvis Presley, Earth Wind and Fire, Bono of U2, Madonna, Kate Bush, Cindy Lauper, Michael Jackson and even The Village People for example. I believe that with each of these names, you will conjure up a mental images of the singers and how they perform. Why is that so? It is because of their distinctive singing style ie personal branding.

Next, take notice of how these singers keep time and rhythm when they move on stage? Watch which action, vocal range and style during the delivery of their songs appeal to the crowd and how they whip their audience into frenzy. Take note of their facial expressions and body language at each stage of the song and how they tell an emotional story with the lyrics of the songs that can get people teary eyed.

Then learn and borrow some of these traits from them, and develop them with your own unique style blended in.

Once you have developed your personal singing style, the next step is to rehearse with your band thoroughly. Your band must know what you want such as when do you want to bring the song to a climax or when to bring it down to tug at heartstrings, when to pause in order to create an impact and other technicalities of the songs you will be performing.

Go buy some good music sheets so that the band can play together with the same music sheets and scores. If you leave them to play by ear, the band members will interpret the songs in their own way and you will also waste time and energy to get the band to play tightly together. You don't want your band to listen too often to the original version either because by doing that, they will also be playing in the style of the original song and again, will not be distinctive. Do the musical arrangements yourself!

Once this is done, rehearse until the band and you are inseparable components of the song and when that is done, you are now ready to front a good band as its lead singer and get noticed as a singer in your own right! <bio>Chris Chew owns a learn music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>

If you are planning to get into the retail market and want to purchase wholesale opera gloves in bulk, at the cheapest prices, there is no better place to look than the Internet. As most people are aware, the retail business depends on having the best prices, the very best products, and supplying the right market at just the right time. Obviously, the world of opera is not just for the well to do or people with money, but something that all levels of society can enjoy. Not everyone can afford the cost of a designer dress and matching gloves, or the cost of balcony seats. However, it is now possible for those of us who want to enjoy the pleasure of operas to arrive looking equally as elegant as everyone else at a much more reasonable price.

Having the perfect opera gloves is essential, but finding them through a retailer who can offer them at a good price is hard at best. Being that there is a huge market for this, you may be considering retailing these yourself, but there are some things that you absolutely need to know before investing in opera gloves from a wholesaler, like the history of the gloves, sizes, measurements, and who the other people are that want to buy them.

According to historians, it is believed that ladies' opera gloves began their life around the 1800's, at the time of Napoleonic/Regency period, but did not become truly fashionable until the last part of the 1800's, carrying on with its increased popularity well into the 1960's. However, the mousqetaire opera gloves, the most famous ones of all, are believed to have originated from the gauntlets worn by French musketeers in the early 16th century. Commonly, these elegant formal gloves are worn either up to the mid-bicep or shoulder, and have three buttons at the wrist so that the hands can be removed, the hand section tucked inside neatly, without having to remove the glove. Though not all gloves have buttons, and these lengths are also traditional for opera gloves (measured in buttons), which are generally worn for semi or formal occasions, and made of stretchy satin. The most expensive ones are made from kid leather.

Opera gloves' popularity nowadays is as accessories for debutante and bridal dresses, but entertainers, like can-can and burlesque girls, have also adopted them. However, no matter who wishes to buy them, or whatever purpose they will be used for, in order to sell them as a retail item, understanding how to measure them is important. Very simply, you measure around the widest part of the hand, by the knuckle area, but ignoring the thumb. People with larger arms may need the next size up.

To buy wholesale opera gloves in bulk at cheaper prices can be done from the many online distributors. It is of course very important to note all the brands available, which products are best sellers, and to negotiate deals with distributors for the lowest prices possible. Another good way of surveying what is on the market is to attend buying groups, research at libraries, go to buyer's markets, and have a look at trade shows.

The other option for information about opera gloves or any type of retail industry is to have a source of good information that can easily guide you through the maze associated with how to buy wholesale products at cheap prices, who the main wholesale distributors are for each type of product, how to approach them and other vital details.

Just know the fact that if it is sold in stores offline, then someone can sell it to you at a "Below Wholesale" price somewhere on the net, you just have to know a few basics and exercise a bit of common sense. <bio>If You Want To Know Where You Can Buy "High-Quality" Opera Gloves and Designer Clothing At Prices Not Found Anywhere Else On The Planet and Secret Sources Revealed Where Liquidators Supply Dirt Cheap Prices On Tons Of Products then goto the http://www.wholesalesecretsource.com </bio>

Good professional singers not only have to be fit and healthy to look good for stage performances, they must also know how to maintain and preserve a good singing voice.

You have only one voice and when your voice is damaged permanently, it will probably spell the end of a singer's. Many singers who have not been through professional singing coaching by good singing coaches or attend any singing schools may not even know that they may be damaging their voice.

Many singers also forget that when their singing voice does not feel right and they are not singing effortlessly as they should be, they will have a tendency to compensate with bad and un-healthy singing habits. These newly created or old bad habits may become stuck unconsciously and will have to be unlearned with the right vocal exercises. That is if the singer is aware that such habits are already in existence in the first place.

There are many things you can do to damage your singing voice and sometimes the damage will lead to permanent damage to your vocal chords. Here are some examples of what can harm your voice and there are many more.

a) Constant screaming or talking forcefully all the time. This happens very often if you are singing in a night club environment where you have to speak above the din to be heard.

Making funny voices maybe cute, but you may be doing terrible damages to your vocal folds.

b) Dry air and/or not enough water consumption will dry up your larynx and thus placing too much friction on them.

c) Poor diet, lack of sleep, stress will place more toll on your body and your singing mechanism.

d) Caffeine consumption, alcohol consumption, smoking will also damage your voice.

e) Talking, singing or whispering when you have laryngitis or sore throat. You need to rest your voice when you have a sore throat.

True professional singers must spend a lifetime working to minimize the stresses on their voices. Why should they want to destroy their singing career by being ignorant about what these bad habits can do to their singing?

What is more, if the voice is damaged because of frequent abuse and polyps grow on the larynx, they may even need to go for a surgery to remove the polyps. That will mean a of income and avoidable medical expenses. So you must preserve and maintain a healthy singing voice if you want to have a successful singing career. <bio>Chris Chew jam with musicians regularly.More articles at http://www.playmusicsing.com and http://www.learnsingplaymusic.blogspot.com </bio>

"How can I develop a vibrato singing voice?" This is a question often asked by aspiring singers. But firstly, what is actually singing in vibrato?

A vibrato is a slight variation of pitch tone caused by the free oscillation of the vocal foldss from an open pharynx (open throat) along with the healthy closure of the vocal cords with the use of good singing muscle support system.

However, there are many singers singing with wrong vibratos resulting in awful pitching and tones. This are usually the results of the oscillations being too slow, which is called a wobble and when it is too fast, called a tremolo.

We often hear singers who have a wide and slow vibrato which is actually a wobble. This phenomenon is usually caused by a lack of correct resistance of the breath pressure or a lack of focus in the singing tone. A wobble can also be caused by a lack of proper adduction of the vocal folds.

On the other hand, some singers developed an overly fast vibrato that sound just as awful as the wobble. This overly fast vibrato is called a tremolo and neither the wobble nor the tremolo is the desired vocal tone for good singing.

A tremolo can be caused by a pressure built up at the root of the tongue. This pressure can have its origin at inhalation or onset of sound production. It can also be the result of a lack of vocal cord approximation.

Many singers do not know that the vocal folds must close after inhalation. This lack of proper adduction of the cords can result in a faster vibrato speed and therefore, the creation of a tremolo. The improper use of the singing muscle support system is another cause for producing a tremolo voice.

A good vibrato is when the singing voice is vibrating at an even rate. An uneven vibrato may be the result of sudden changes in the sub-glottis breath pressure. These sudden changes in the air pressure is result of even "body resistance" from the singing support system. The vocal cords then begin to separate and vibrate unhealthily.

Most singers started off having a straight singing tone (no vibrato) before developing the vibrato through good vocal exercises. Some straight tone singers have even sung in choirs where their choir masters insisted that they sing in a straight tone.

Singing this way can be damaging to the singing voice as it put too much stress on the vocal cords and nodules can develop from singing in a straight tone over a period of time.

Good choral vocal blend can be developed through vowel and acoustical alignment but not squeezing the singing voice into straight tone. Most straight tone singers have problems with vocal cord closure because too much pressure has been held at the vocal folds over a period of time.

A good vibrato gets woven into the voice when the singer achieves proper balance in the support muscles and when the feeling of the "oo" vowel is sustained in the pharynx. The feeling of the "oo" vowel allows a healthy adduction of the vocal cords without too much pressure at the glottis.

A diaphragmatic vibrato is the when the diaphragm pulsates during a sustained tone to create a false vibrato. Many theatre singers develop this bad vocal habit so as to have some sort of vibrato when no vibrato is actually present. A diaphragmatic vibrato is difficult to reverse because the abdominal muscles memorize the pulsating sensation and develop a muscle memory. However, it can be corrected through time with proper vocal exercises.

A healthy vibrato can be developed in a rather short period of time with the right vocal exercises. How long does it take for a singer to develop a good and healthy vibrato voice is usually dependent on the singer's mind/body coordination.

So if you want to develop a good vibrato singing voice, then go look for a good singing teacher or get the right vocal exercises and start practicing. <bio>Chris Chew runs a music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>

A singer is a singer, and one cannot argue that women or men are better. So women in music are no different from men in music. But since society likes to look at achievers from the gender point of view, one can say that when it comes to making music, women caught up pretty fast with their male counterparts than in other professions.

Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and many other singers of the 50's and 40's are well remembered although the same cannot be said for women singers during this period. In fact inclusion of women in mainstream music came about only in the 70's. This period also saw the Women's Music movement gain popularity. This movement was to promote music made by women, for women and about women. It helped create a positive image about women musicians as well as create opportunities for them in a male-dominated stream. Of course then on we have seen amazing women in music. From Dolly Parton to Jessica Simpson, Whitney Houston to Rihanna, Celine Dion to Christina Aguilera - they have captured people's hearts and fuelled their imagination with their voices and their looks.

Many listeners are of the opinion that women singers are more versatile and their voices are much richer than those of their male counterparts. Singers like Beyonce, Christina or Alicia Keys, Shakira are known for their strong vocals. Countering this, many others are of the opinion that women in music tend to become popular more because of their looks than talent. But popularity based on looks cannot last long, so there has to be something more about singers like Whitney Houston or Celine Dion who remain popular even after spending years in this profession.

Women singers come from every genre - Classical, Pop, Country even Rock. Although there are very few women rockers, they have still made their presence felt. Female rockers like Amy Lee and Gwen Stefani have a huge fan following today. The same, however, cannot be said of girl bands. When it comes to bands, there seem to be very few. The most popular girl band would have to be the spice girls. After them, it is hands down Destiny's Child. Bands like Pussycat Dolls or Sugababes are also quite popular but listeners are always very skeptical about how long girl bands last. Many are of the opinion that girl bands tend to have a shorter life span than boy bands due to the intensely competitive nature of women in music. This often comes in the way of a girl bands success.

It remains debatable however, whether women have it easier than men in this industry. Feminists are bound to scream 'yes', but the general populace is of the opinion that women are prone to harassment in almost all fields not just music. What might make them more vulnerable in the music industry is that its behavior is largely not accounted for or governed by anybody. However, existence of quite a few organizations in this field has helped women a great deal. In fact 'Women in Music' is a UK based membership organization that promotes women musicians and provides them with guidance, resources and opportunities to further their talent. A similar organization exists in the USA called International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM) that spread awareness about women's contribution to music and promotes new talent among women musicians. Yes, some of them may have gotten popular without any formal singing lessons but all these popular singers, without exception realized that they have to engage a vocal coach at one time or another take their spectacular singing career to superstardom and to stay up there.

So what makes you think that you do not need vocal lessons? If you are already singing professionally, then it is vital that you take up voice training to separate you from the mediocre singers. This is how you can get noticed when you are above the pack and above your singing competitors.

If others do not believe in vocal training and you do, then you would already have won because you will be singing much better and control higher fees for your performances.

You need to take care and respect for your voice. That is your musical instrument and your voice determines whether you succeed or fail in your singing career.

Finding a good singing teacher can be a little tricky. There are many so called vocal coaches out there proclaiming themselves to be singing teachers after merely reading up a few books. As this industry is not regulated, there are many charlatans out there.

The best way to determine a good singing teacher is to ask good singers. After all, they are already good singers themselves and their recommendation won't be all that bad isn't it?

However, since singing teachers are human beings, it is thus important that the teacher student relationship is good and you can get along your vocal coach. The chemistry between you and your coach must be good, otherwise when you are singing under stress, your voice will come out as very strained and that voice is awful to the ears. If you can't along with your singing teacher, then you may need to change your vocal coach.

One way of eliminating this human problem in learning how to sing is to get VCDs, DVD and video singing lessons of famous and proven vocal coaches. Not only is it much less expensive than hiring a vocal teacher, you can work at your own time and own pace. Since the teaching tools are yours, you can practice your vocal training anytime and anywhere. Better yet, you are learning from the best!

Most good singing coaches will have a vocal workout lessons plan for you. Learning how to breathe and use your diaphragm properly are the basics of a singer's inventory. You will find out how remarkable your voice can get when you mastered only these two singing exercises. Once you are using correct breathing and diaphragm control techniques, your singing voice and confidence will soar.

So, if want to bring your singing career to greater heights then go and get a vocal coach now and start practicing singing skills now. <bio>Visit Chris Chew's websites for more articles on singing and music. http://www.playmusicsing.com and http://learnsingplaymusic.blogspot.com </bio>

Fronting their own band is a dream of every beginner singer. So how can you front a band and develop your own band's own distinctive style of music and performance? How to at the same time developing your own individually unique singing style? How are you going to be distinguished and get noticed from those thousands of bands playing only cover versions of popular music and imitating their favourite bands and lead singers?

First thing to do is to view as many DVD performances of famous singers fronting their bands from the musical genre you have chosen as the forte of your band's music. Examine how distinctive and different they are from each other. Notice each band playing with their own style and song delivery. Take note of everyone's body language and what signals and vibes the famous bands and singers are sending out.

Let us take a look at some of these singers and bands. Take Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones for example. See how he pouts his lips and struts on stage cockily exuding sensual visuals and confident charisma at the same time. Those body language became his characteristics and singing charisma. In the advertisement world,it is called image branding.

If someone were to name you some popular singers, you will immediately associate a clear mental picture of that singer during a performance. That is how powerful your body language and distinctive branding can be. In otherwords, be different from the crowd by developing your own style of singing and performance.

Just try it. Close your eyes and when someone mentions to you these names, what do you see in your mental picture? Elvis Presley, Boy George, Bono of U2, Kate Bush, Cindy Lauper, Michael Jackson and even The Village People. Get the picture? (pun not intended, grin)

So, you must develop your own distinctive style of singing and stage performance to get noticed and create a brand for your band.

Learn from those excellent singers fronting their own bands. Learn from them how they keep time and rythym when they move on stage? Which action and movement during their performances that drew audience reactions? How do these singers whip their fans into a frenzy? What are the facial expressions at every stage of a song? How do they tell an emotional story from the lyrics of the songs that get people moved?

Learn and borrow some traits from these singers, and then develop them further with your own unique singing style blended in.

Once you have developed your personal distinctive singing style, the next step is to rehearse with your band. Your band must know what you want and this must be communicated before every rehearsal and reinforced. Things like when you want to bring the song into a climax, when to bring it down to tug at audience heartstrings, when to pause to create a dramatic impact...etc

Invest a little moeny in your band by buying some good music sheets so that the band can play together as a team with the same music sheets and scores. If you leave your band members to play by ear, all the band members will interpret the songs in their own way and you would have lost alot of time and energy to get the band to play tightly together.

Therefore you need to work closely with your band members since as a lead singer, you are probably the band leader as well. You then must insist that the band play the keys that you are comfortable to sing in, stick to the musical arrangements and follow the effects of the songs you want to portray.

Once this is done, rehearse until the band and you are inseparable components of the song, then you are there! You are now ready to front a good band as a lead singer, get recognized as a singer and band leader of distinction. <bio>Chris Chew is the owner of music websites http://www.playmusicsing.com and http://learnsingplaymusic.blogspot.com </bio>

While a good singing voice can be a good start for a singing career, the voice alone doesn't make a good singer. Being comfortable with the songs you are singing will show in terms of your self confidence.

Keep in mind that even successful singers have learned some techniques that is why they were able to maintain well-modulated singing voices. Singing isn't all based on talent. Lose all your inhibitions. Karaoke singing is a wonderful way to entertain yourself and the others.

When singing songs that are up tempo you don't need the technical ability it is more entertainment like karaoke. A good choice of song can make his performance better because the singer is comfortable with the song. Doing so, he'd be able to deliver the notes better, and feel the song best. A beautiful rendition of a song is noted most of the times, not because the singer has sung it well, but he did it with the right emotions overflowing. Doing so, he'd be able to deliver the notes better, and feel the song best.

Professional singers practice all the time, if you practice you will be amazed how you're breathing and voice improves when singing and making different tones. Singers have the ability to know how to breathe correctly when singing. When singers learn how to sing they do not sing from the throat they sing from the abdomen, the reason for this is because the abdomen is a large and strong muscle compared to the throat. Do not limit yourself to teachers close to home or work. Working with a coach that can bring out the best in your voice is the goal. While a good singing voice can be a good start for a singing career, the voice alone doesn't make a good singer.

Many people believe they can sing and they don't need voice lessons, the decision to go ahead and admit that lessons are needed is a big and important step. Once you train your voice it will become strong and vibrant and your voice will improve over time because you know the basics. It will be worth the extra distance. Find an environment where you can express yourself freely and one that offers open communication so training can be modified with your changing interests.

Singing is one practical way of expressing one's feelings. Possessing a skill in singing is also a good technique of overcoming shyness and gaining self-confidence. Singing is, indeed, one of the most profitable passions in the industry today.

Each day, a singer is born to the music industry. It isn't enough that you have been trained by the best music school or that you can shift from one musical genre to another.

Knowing the vocal quality of a singer will enable him to choose songs that are appropriate for his singing voice. Once an appropriate song has been chosen, the singer should take time to develop his own style. He shouldn't try to choose a difficult song which will just showcase his lack of singing prowess. A good choice of song can make his performance better because the singer is comfortable with the song. The voice produces sound; the technical explanation is that the chords called vocal chords vibrate which in turn produces sound. Singers use these vibrations to make different sounds at different frequencies which allow them to make variation of notes.

With all the talents available for the taking, making it big in the recording industry can be attributed more to a very good manager rather than on pure talent alone. Thus, singers should never question the importance of getting professional help to further their singing careers.

Taking into consideration the popularity of singing talent searches, good singers can actually make a successful career in the entertainment industry. <bio>David Marc Fishman helps performers get discovered at the online talent show.
Warming up and cooling down before and after singing is crucial in preserving a healthy singing voice. If you don't warm up and cool down your voice, you risk damaging your vocal cords and sometimes permanently so.

All athletes know that an effective warm up is essential for optimal athletic performance. But you say, singers are not athletes, so why should singers warm up their singing voices?

Singers who are dinner guests are often asked to perform impromptu entertainment by their host after the dinner to entertain other guests. The wise singer will politely decline the request rather than singing raw which is further complicated by a bloated tummy.

A proper warming up before a singing performance lets the singer to get in touch with the singer's inner self physically and psychologically since self awareness is the foundation of good vocal techniques.

All good singers know that there is a co-ordination of many muscles parts and therefore warming up before singing should be an unhurried and a leisurely self-exploration that allows enough time for the loosening and coordination of the muscles that assist voice production. Warming up your voice should be an enjoyable experience because as you warm up, your voice begins to sound better, effortless and a sense singing freely is felt.

Unfortunately, most of the time, the singer is warming up while rushing to a rehearsal or as a last minute preparation before taking the stage. The pressure of a hurried warming up may cause physical and mental tension and as such, the warming up may prove to be ineffective or worse, counter-productive.

All well trained singers develop their own distinctive warming up routines best suited to their own personal requirements. The routines may vary with changes in physical, mental and also emotional state.

Most good singers begin by warming up their body first with light physical exercises. This is done to reduce the muscular tension so that the singing voice will not sound strained or tensed. Furthermore, light exercises helps to stimulate deep breathing which is essential for good voice support.

It is vital to start vocalizing in your comfortable vocal range so as not to strain your vocal cords when it is cold. You can then gradually move on to the higher and lower extreme notes. Some recent biomechanical research have shown that singing at the extremity of both the higher and lower notes of the vocal range can strain the laryngeal muscles, and can result harmful patterns of muscle tension. It goes on to say that thus it is good common sense to avoid the extreme pitches whether they are high or low notes until your voice is warmed up appropriately. Most singer's warm up is devoted to the goals of obtaining a beautiful voice timbre through the use of various vocal exercises.

After a singing session, the singer should cool down the voice with exercises that soothe the vocal cords such as soft descending scales on the "oo" or the "ee" vowel. If the singer does not cool down after a sing session, the vocal tension will stay and the vocal cords remain tensed and this will lead to further voice complications. So, to maintain and preserve a healthy singing voice, adequate warm up and cool down is a must in any singer's inventory. <bio>Chris Chew owns a singing and music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>

London's theatre scene is glitzy, glamorous and fun, and there are always hundreds of performances going on at once. Some of the most popular shows are the big West End musicals, many of which have been running for years and still sell out weeks in advance. Here's a brief guide to some of the all-time favourites.

Blood Brothers Theatre: Phoenix, Charing Cross Road Current Run Since: November 1991 Overview: Written in 1981, the original run of the musical starring Barbara Dickson had limited success. However, the remake 10 years later has proven very popular and has now become a cult classic. It's a captivating prince-and-pauper tale of twin boys from a poor Liverpool family who are separated at birth because their mother can't afford to keep them both. One is brought up by the mother's rich employer so both lead very different lives, only to meet again in adulthood with mixed consequences.

Chicago Theatre: Cambridge Theatre, Earlham Street Current Run Since: April 2006 Overview: This sordid tale of murder, greed and corruption focuses on main character Roxy Hart, who is accused of killing her husband and hires a sleazy lawyer to get her acquitted, only to set up a dance act with partner-in-crime Velma. With catchy tunes such as All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle, it's been a hit since its first run, which began in 1979.

Les Misérables Theatre: Queen's, Shaftesbury Avenue Current Run Since: October 1985 Overview: In 2006, Les Misérables became the longest running musical in the world. For 21 years it has been keeping audiences captivated with its dramatic and emotional tale of social, political and romantic turmoil in 19th century Paris, adapted from the classic Victor Hugo novel. The musical score is excellent, moving seamlesly from rousing marches to moving ballads.

Lion King Theatre: Lyceum, Wellington Street Current Run Since: October 1999 Overview: Written by Tim Rice and Elton John, this excellent adaptation of the popular Disney animation has won six Tony Awards and is a real stage spectacular, with a dazzling set and fantastic animal costumes. It's the story of a lion cub, heir to his father's jungle throne, whose evil uncle plots to take over.

Mamma Mia Theatre: Prince of Wales, Coventry Street Current Run Since: June 2004 Overview: 1970s Swedish pop sensation Abba's best hits are brought together in this great musical medley, arranged around the story of a girl on the eve of her wedding day. Tuneful melodies such as Money Money Money, Dancing Queen and of course Mamma Mia are guaranteed to have audiences tapping their toes throughout.

Phantom of the Opera Theatre: Her Majesty's, Haymarket Current Run Since: October 1986 Overview: Andrew Lloyd Webber's most well known musical is a love story based on Gaston Leroux's 19th century romantic novel about the goings-on behind the scenes in a Paris Opera House, where a mystery man in a mask falls in love with one of the opera singers. It has won several awards, including seven Tonys and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and is immensely popular -- so much so that the theatre has never had an unsold seat in 20 years of daily performances. Key themes from the musical are The Music of the Night and the title piece Phantom of the Opera. <bio>Pauline Wapping Website: http://www.londoncityinformation.info Pauline Wapping is a Londoner, having lived in the city all her life.
I have judged many singing competitions and is also a regular patron of live music clubs and have observed singers making the same mistakes again and again. Some of those mistakes were so blatantly obvious and can be easily avoided or corrected such as singing out of tune.

Although singing out of tune is a certainly an awful singing mistake, it isn't the biggest singing mistake. Did I surprised you, if I did, brace yourself for more to come.

There are so many common and often repeated mistakes singers make and why they do not correct them is indeed puzzling.

Let us look at another common mistake which is simply not smiling at the audience. It is amazing that many singers, especially those in singing contests who take the stage and either frown or deadpan their way through an entire song.

By doing this, the performance and the bonding with the audience is painfully compromised. Furthermore, the voice quality is affected because the do not have the 'inner-smile' tonal quality which can be very pleasant to the ear.

Many times, I would watch a singer go on stage, grab the microphone, look up at the audience and flash a big fat smile. Then as the song begin, that smile would just disappear into thin air, even for a fast number.

As a member of the audience, I felt like I had been ripped off when they took back that bright warm smile. It is like the big smiling friendly salesman after selling you a product don't even bother to look at you thereafter. How does that feel?

Yet again, this is not biggest mistake because the worse is yet to come.

Then there is another mistake which is about as common as the no smiling mistake is the 'I'm nervous' expression imprinted on singers' faces.

How do I know that they are nervous? Well, it is simply that these singers have no eye contact with the audience. Many of them even belt out the entire song with their eyes closed. This is not only downright rude, it also tells the audience that the singer has no confidence in facing the audience and is awfully nervous.

It gets even whackier when you see the singers in churches looking at the ceiling as if they are singing to God so that they can avoid eye contact with the congregation.

Although I comprehend that when singing about God, you may look up as and when the lyric is appropriate to show some form of expression, however staring at the ceiling for the duration entire song is ridiculous.

Then there is another bunch of singers who understand the concept of eye contact, but they did it by darting their eyes in every other direction. This terrible body language made them look like a terrified caged animal.

Not establishing good eye contact with the audience is still not the biggest singing mistake though.

This next singer mistake can be absolutely hilarious. This type of singers will reach out for the microphone, lock their feet to the stage and do not move at all for the entire duration of the song as if they are riveted to the stage.

These singers are probably scared of tripping, slipping or to avoid people commenting that their moves sucks. However, singing this way makes the audience very uptight and tensed.

Hey, the audiences may not know if you missed a note but they can instinctively know if you are a bundle of nerves. They see a nervous singer and they instinctively feel nervous for that singer.

The motionless singer is a sure sign of being nervous. The audience does not require you to dance like Britney Spears, but they do know that when they see someone standing rigidly, that the person is definitely squirming uncomfortably inside.

Is being riveted on stage the biggest singing mistake? Nope!

The next singing mistake is really serious but very common. It really beats me why so many singers would often sing songs that included notes out of their vocal range.

Singing out of your vocal range will produce awful tones that make the audience cringe! These singers will get to that high note and just fizzle out into an airy falsetto or worse, force their way through by yelling, often causing them to sing flat and risking injuries to their vocal cords.

Is singing out of one's vocal range the biggest singing mistake? The answer is still a no.

So what is the biggest singer's mistake? The mother of all singing mistakes is ATTITUDE!

It is the thinking that the audience is there for your purposes! Self centeredness is the biggest mistake a singer can make. The audience will know whether you are focused on their enjoyment or for your own selfish egoistic ends.

If you think back through all those singing mistakes mentioned earlier, you can see that most of them actually stem from this one big mistake.

For example, not making eye contact comes from the desire to protect you. The singer is not opening up to the audience.

Think about when you meet someone who simply won't look you in the eye. You instinctively distrust that person isn't it?

So a good singer must think like the audience so that the singer can please the audience with his/her performance. Then, make a point to train yourself and force yourself to make eye contact while performing. When you have the confidence to make eye contact with the audience now and then, you will have the confidence to maintain a warm smile with your audience.

If you are too self-conscious, you won't be able to do this. Don't scare yourself with inner self talk like will the audience like my performance, but instead ask questions like will I love the audience.

Standing rigidly during your singing performance also comes from nervousness. Again, it is just self-consciousness.

The biggest mistake is the inner self talk in your head on the wrong questions such as "What is in it for me?" "Will I get my need for attention met?" "Will the audience meet my need for their approval?"

If you do not replace those selfish attitudes with a selfless aim to please and serve your audience, they will withhold what you want from them, such as their appreciation to your song delivery.

So the main lesson here is to think of your audience. If you can think of how to please them, they will reward you by pleasing you. Just by correcting your attitude, you will be able to avoid many terrible common singing mistakes. <bio>Chris Chew is the webmaster of a learning music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>

As all the world now knows, Berlin's Deutsche Oper closed a production of Mozart's perennially harmless opera Idomeneo, because of "incalculable risk" due to a threat from a Muslim group or individual over the director's decision to include a scene in which the heads of Mohammed, Jesus, and Budda are presented without their accompanying bodies.

The heady scene is reportedly an effort on the part of the director to mix opera with his own anti-religious sentiments.

While Mozart was not above being a bit of a rabble rouser -- note the antagonism he bestirred among the nobility due to the amorous ways and eventual comeuppance of the broadly ignoble Don Giovanni -- we give him the belated accolade of Clever Monkey of the Week for not finding if necessary to present disembodied prophets in the original production.

The oper avowed that it shut down the production "with great regret," but government officials other than the security forces were not pleased.

As the mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, said, "with all understanding for the concern about the security of spectators and performers, I consider the decision of the director to be wrong. Our ideas about openness, tolerance and freedom must be lived on the offensive. Voluntary self-limitation gives those who fight against our values a confirmation in advance that we will not stand behind them."

There was a redemptive bright spot on the Islamic horizon. Kenan Kilat, who is the leader of Germany's Turkish Community, told the online newspaper Netzeitung that, while he could understand how the three-headed scene could offend Muslims, an opera is not a political forum.

He went on to say the nearly miraculous, "I would recommend Muslims learn to accept certain things. Art must remain free."

We commend his wisdom and courage.

But evidently we still have an enormous cultural chasm to deal with. Imagine how far we are from the headline "Famous Muslim Opera Closed Due To Courtesy Toward Christians." <bio>Tom Attea, humorist and creator of http://NewsLaugh.com, has had six shows produced Off-Broadway. Critics have called his writing for the theater "delightfully funny," "witty," with "great humor" and "good, genuine laughs." </bio>

Nominated for 3 Academy Awards and 3 Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, The Phantom Of The Opera is one of the most talked about movies of 2004. Taking the smash commercial success of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage production to the big screen is no easy task, but long-time Hollywood director Joel Schumacher is more than able to get the job done. He takes an otherwise poorly written screenplay (minus the awe of a live performance no less) and manages to thrill the audience with the visual aspects of a film chiefly intended to rehash a successful stage musical. The costumes and set are simply magnificent, and Art Director John Fenner (Raiders Of The Lost Ark) helps Schumacher put together a fabulous production that's well worth a movie-goer's time...

The Phantom Of The Opera centers around a mysterious character who dwells underneath the Paris Opera House, imbibing himself on the music that emanates from above. Known as The Phantom (Gerard Butler), he wears a half-mask to cover the hideous facial scars that have plagued him since birth. A musical genius, the phantom is infatuated with the opera, and when he falls in love with the voice of a young chorus girl named Christine (Emmy Rossum - The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Mystic River (2003)), this love of the opera morphs into an outright obsession. The phantom provides Christine with one-on-one voice lessons, while during his spare time, he terrorizes the opera house in an effort to land his protégé the opera's leading role. When Christine finally rises to that position, however, she is reunited with childhood friend Raul (Patrick Wilson), and the two begin a torrid love affair. Vengeful and jealous, the phantom kidnaps Christine and holds her prisoner in his underground lair, and Raul is the only one who can save her...

Onscreen, The Phantom Of The Opera is weak by the standards of a traditional film. The cast does its best to make the most of a screenplay peppered with rigid dialogue - a script designed to sell "the music of the night". The supposed magnetism between Christine and Raul is non-existent and not really believable. As such, the audience is forced into believing that the phantom (who, by contrast, is quite charismatic in this rendition) would end up playing second fiddle to a man who makes Al Gore seem animated. Overall, however, other aspects of the film make up for this flaw...

Based on Gaston Leroux's 1925 novel of the same name, The Phantom Of The Opera loses much of its original edge given the phantom's transformation from a frightening and mangled lunatic to a watered down half-scarred/half-babe-magnet figure complete with likeable characteristics. But inevitably, that's the mark of an enduring franchise - its malleability in the realm of numerous genres and the public's willingness to embrace such changes. But arguably, the small changes in the original novel's plot were necessary to achieve Lloyd Webber's goal of a melodramatic and stirring Broadway musical boasting mass commercial appeal. In a year in which the Oscar nominations were mostly dominated by lower-budget, surprise hit films (such as Sideways, Million Dollar Baby, and Finding Neverland), The Phantom Of The Opera holds its own in many aspects (given its pre-production designation as a commercial success). But those who have not seen the stage version are unlikely to be won over to the ranks of the franchise's numerous fanatics. My advice is to definitely see the film if you've ever seen the stage performance or listened regularly to the soundtrack - otherwise, you might be disappointed. After all, no matter how good The Phantom Of The Opera translates to the big screen, there's a reason musicals are not the dominate genre in Hollywood... <bio>Britt Gillette is author of The DVD Report (http://thedvdreport.blogspot.com), a blog where you can find more reviews like this one. </bio>
