Make sure you buy the right one!

Shopping for a music stand is easy. Deciding which music stand will fit your needs might not be as easy.

To shop for a music stand all you have to do is go to a music store or do an online search. If you walk into a music store you'll see the music stands the prices for each. If you do an online search, you can see pictures of the music stands that are out there and again find out how much each one is. That is the easy part.

The hard part is figuring out which music stand you need. There are several different music stands that are designed very differently.

The opera stand is an illuminated music stand for the opera singer. The stem on it is designed so that it does not interfere with the opera singer's feet if they sit down. The opera stands can be nested together for easy storage.

The wooden stand is made to match a modern or historic concert hall. These stands are made of polished metal stems and natural wood trays. These stands nest together for compact storage also. The jazz stand is a music stand that folds. It will fold down to the size of the tray. It is an adjustable stand for sitting or standing to play or sing. To store them, they will stand right next to each other or you can store them folded. If they are folded, they store one right on top of another.

The school music stand is designed for students. It is unbreakable. It does not have knobs, but rather raises and lowers easily. It has an extra lip on the tray for pencils and erasers. These also nest together for easy storage.

The studio stand is a modern looking stand for all types of musicians. It is like the opera stand, except it does not have the light attached to it. It is designed so that if the musician swings their legs, they will not knock the stand over. Like many of the other music stands, they are designed to be nested together for storage.

The scherzo stand is a foldable stand. It is made of aluminum. The aluminum makes it very lightweight for easy transportation. Now that you know how each music stand is designed, you can decide which music stand will work best for your music needs. <bio>http://www.musicstandworld.com is filled with music stand articles and wooden music stand resources </bio>

The Encarta Encyclopedia defines the word diva as a spoilt brat, attention-seeker, show-off or bragger. Derived from the Italian, the word diva used to mean "goddess" or "exceptional female singer" but over the years the word has become known in popular culture to describe a very difficult, hard to handle woman or man. Wikipedia calls a diva "manipulative, highly strung, privileged and demanding. He or she does not believe the law and accepted rules of courtesy apply to him or her." Another designation I would add is prima donna.

Just for fun, I decided to see what my computer search engine would come up with when I typed in the word diva. Not surprisingly, the first names to pop up in the MSN Search were Celine Dion, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey, Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti!

The people listed are all definitely known for being fussy and perhaps even fiendish. I've worked in the entertainment business for a long time, both in front of the footlights and behind them, and encountered my share of divas, to be sure. However, even if you don't work in the theatre or the diva populated worlds of film, television, or opera, I'm sure you have a diva or two you've run across. Sitting at my hairdresser's one morning, the lady next to me found out that I was writing about divas, and remarked: "I could use some advice about my teenage daughters. They're both divas and impossible to handle!" People talk to me about their kids, mother-in-laws, ex-wives, and bosses. But are all divas demons?

I think it's a mistake to lump all the divas of the world into one category. I agree that the great soprano Maria Callas was known to be a very demanding lady, but what a glorious voice she had! I personally knew the lovely opera diva Beverly Sills. Did you know that her nickname was Bubbles? Does that sound like a name for a fiendish diva? She was one of the kindest ladies I've ever met.

Divas get a bad rap because many strive for perfection. That's where the line between nice gal and conceited maniac get blurry. The following story about tenor Luciano Pavarotti is a perfect example: A number of years ago Luciano took a limousine to an opera house where he arrived to sing that night. He instructed the driver to return at a designated spot and time after his performance. The driver complied. Because the singer had to greet his fans after the opera was over, he didn't reach the limousine until late into the night. When Luciano finally arrived, walking in the crisp, icy evening air to the limousine, he immediately chastised the driver for not having the car warmed up. The driver was shocked at the prima donna's outrage, but the singer quickly explained: "I expect to ride in a warmed up car as my voice is my career and without it I am nothing."

What seemed like a tantrum, and indeed, it was a tantrum, was justified.

I'm not saying that those divas we love to read about in the magazines aren't sometimes over the top with their demands. Jennifer Lopez use to demand that her dressing room only be decorated in all white. That included the walls and any rugs, chairs, and flowers. Rock musicians ask that all brown MandMs be removed from their candy dishes or they won't go on stage. The list goes on and on. But I do understand the demands on many divas to perform as close to perfection as possible. We the public have put celebrities on a pedestal, making it almost impossible for them not to eventually fall. No wonder they are picky and grumpy. You would be too if your every move was

I say give the divas of our lives a break. At least until the next tantrum which we will then be psychoanalyzing on national television until the cows come home. I love the freedom of the press!<bio>Shelley G.
The Paris Opera House is thought to be one of the greatest pieces of architecture of its period. Located on the northern part of Avenue De L'Opera in the 9e arrondisement , it was founded in 1669 by King Louis XIV.

The idea of the Opera house was first proposed in the 1858 during the Second Empire by Baron Haussmann who was granted authorization for the project by Napoleon III. About 12000 square meters of land was cleared and a thirty five year old architect by the name of Charles Garnier was chosen to design the Opera House.

In 1861, construction began and 14 years later the building was complete. There were a number of significant delays however, first there were issues such as the Paris Commune, and the Franco Prussian War and then, there was a problem with the location. The ground was marshy and full of underground water.

For eight months, the site had to undergo constant pumping before the base could be put down and it was said to have formed an underground reservoir. This reservoir became the idea behind the setting of "The Phantom of the Opera"

On January 15, 1875 marked the opening of the Palais Granier (Paris Opera House). There was a performance of La Juive with Fromental Halevy and excerpts of Les Hugentos with Gaicomo Meyrebeer.

The editor John Norwich of Great Architecture of the World reports that a contemporary critic thought the Opera House looked like "an overloaded sideboard" The place is ornate and decorated with marble friezes of various colors.

The interior is filled with gold leaf and velvet. There are cherubs and nymphs everywhere. The chandelier is over six tons in weight. The ceiling itself was painted by Marc Chagall in 1964. The Opera House is 11000 square meters (11844 square feet) with a platform that can fit more than 400 artists and there are over 2000 seats for the audience.

The Opera House is now thought to be a masterpiece because Garnier had made wonderful use of the difficult and cramp site. The carriage ramps, the steps, the foyers and staircases were both planned and sectioned with skill and confidence.

Garnier was accused of being overly ornate, just like Napoleon and Haussman were criticized of having old and imperialist ideas but the critics forget to keep in mind that cities need their grand monuments and without Napoleon, Garnier, and Haussman, Paris could not have been thought of as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. <bio>Anne Morris writes articles about travel.
Perhaps the most overlooked but a very effective way to jumpstart your singing career is to join singing contests such as the American Idol show and participating in singing talent search contests. This is because by joining popular singing contests, you will able to develop stage confidence and poise. If you are a good singer, you may even get the notice of singing talent scouts and club owners who may be able to offer you a career as a singer.

However, does participating in singing talent contests or even winning these contests guarantee you a sensational career as a professional singer? Well, the answer is no. Joining and winning contests is just the beginning. It is the catalyst of getting you known. Now, be careful here. It could get you a reputation of either a great singer or a hopeless one.

To have an excellent singing career, it will take time and hard work. Hoping to win singing contests will not guarantee that you will be the next singing star. However it does give you a jumpstart to get noticed as a singing talent.

Every professional and established singer knows that training and practice are vital to have a successful singing career. However, on top of that, abilities like having an ear for music, a natural flair in performing are also necessary ingredients to be a successful singer.

Many struggling career singers have good musical abilities, wonderful singing voices and even great stage presence and yet these professional singers are still not popular and are not making it big as a singer. Do you know why?

This is because a good professional singer also has to be business savvy and must know how to market themselves. That is why so many professional singers hire managers to do this for them so that they can just concentrate on their singing.

However, all the marketing in the world to brand you as a singing talent will not work if no one ever hears sing. This is where joining singing contests comes into the picture. Even when there are people hearing you sing, you still need to know whether they are enjoying your performance. In addition to your singing skills, you further need to have the X-factor that make people want to hear you sing and perform. The X-factor can be cultivated. Just look at how Clay Atkins was transformed from looking nerdy to becoming a confident superstar.

By joining singing contests, it gets your music to the public and people get to hear you sing. It is also a means of getting feedback from your audience on your singing skills and can assist you to mold and modify your singing style until the audience wants to hear more of you. When this happens, your singing career could very well take off exponentially.

Do you want to jumpstart your singing career? Then practice hard and join singing contests to showcase your singing talent to the world. <bio>Chris Chew teaches music.
If you are planning to get into the retail market and want to purchase wholesale opera gloves in bulk, at the cheapest prices, there is no better place to look than the Internet. As most people are aware, the retail business depends on having the best prices, the very best products, and supplying the right market at just the right time. Obviously, the world of opera is not just for the well to do or people with money, but something that all levels of society can enjoy. Not everyone can afford the cost of a designer dress and matching gloves, or the cost of balcony seats. However, it is now possible for those of us who want to enjoy the pleasure of operas to arrive looking equally as elegant as everyone else at a much more reasonable price.

Having the perfect opera gloves is essential, but finding them through a retailer who can offer them at a good price is hard at best. Being that there is a huge market for this, you may be considering retailing these yourself, but there are some things that you absolutely need to know before investing in opera gloves from a wholesaler, like the history of the gloves, sizes, measurements, and who the other people are that want to buy them.

According to historians, it is believed that ladies' opera gloves began their life around the 1800's, at the time of Napoleonic/Regency period, but did not become truly fashionable until the last part of the 1800's, carrying on with its increased popularity well into the 1960's. However, the mousqetaire opera gloves, the most famous ones of all, are believed to have originated from the gauntlets worn by French musketeers in the early 16th century. Commonly, these elegant formal gloves are worn either up to the mid-bicep or shoulder, and have three buttons at the wrist so that the hands can be removed, the hand section tucked inside neatly, without having to remove the glove. Though not all gloves have buttons, and these lengths are also traditional for opera gloves (measured in buttons), which are generally worn for semi or formal occasions, and made of stretchy satin. The most expensive ones are made from kid leather.

Opera gloves' popularity nowadays is as accessories for debutante and bridal dresses, but entertainers, like can-can and burlesque girls, have also adopted them. However, no matter who wishes to buy them, or whatever purpose they will be used for, in order to sell them as a retail item, understanding how to measure them is important. Very simply, you measure around the widest part of the hand, by the knuckle area, but ignoring the thumb. People with larger arms may need the next size up.

To buy wholesale opera gloves in bulk at cheaper prices can be done from the many online distributors. It is of course very important to note all the brands available, which products are best sellers, and to negotiate deals with distributors for the lowest prices possible. Another good way of surveying what is on the market is to attend buying groups, research at libraries, go to buyer's markets, and have a look at trade shows.

The other option for information about opera gloves or any type of retail industry is to have a source of good information that can easily guide you through the maze associated with how to buy wholesale products at cheap prices, who the main wholesale distributors are for each type of product, how to approach them and other vital details.

Just know the fact that if it is sold in stores offline, then someone can sell it to you at a "Below Wholesale" price somewhere on the net, you just have to know a few basics and exercise a bit of common sense. <bio>If You Want To Know Where You Can Buy "High-Quality" Opera Gloves and Designer Clothing At Prices Not Found Anywhere Else On The Planet and Secret Sources Revealed Where Liquidators Supply Dirt Cheap Prices On Tons Of Products then goto the http://www.wholesalesecretsource.com </bio>

The music scene these days is overcrowded with many musicians that do not have very much singing talent at all. The days of pure singers are over, and they are now replaced with many different kinds of sounds that are enhanced and created with sophisticated recording equipment.

Even when you go to see a musical act in concert, chances are the singer's voice and/or music in general is prerecorded. Then the singer just lip syncs the words and many people never know the difference. What ever happened to singers like Elton John, Sting, and Celine Dion? Now we have to listen to Kevin Federline, Kelly Osborne, and man-made bands like 98 degrees. However there are a few musicians that are still putting out very good music, and are still quite popular. Josh Groban is a wonderful singer and he has a different sound.

Josh Groban is probably most remembered for his performance on the 2001 season finale of Ally McBeal. However he has also performed on many soundtracks for movies and some special events as well. Josh Groban has a different sound, because he does not depend on any special effects to make his voice sound as good as it does. He just uses his strong and pure baritone voice to belt out the notes and produce wonderful music.

Josh has put out two records that have gone multi-platinum already, because his sound is very different from the other options currently available. I believe the number one reason that Josh Groban is so successful is his music can be loved and appreciated by almost anyone. There are people all over the world that love his music and would do almost anything to see him in concert. Josh Groban is also very popular with millions of young women, because of his wholesome good looks.

I know that the landscape of popular music is destined to continue changing, but I believe that musical acts like Josh Groban will be able to stay popular no matter what trend pops up next. <bio>Visit http://www.joshgrobanlive.com/ for free Josh Groban Videos and Josh's new album - Awake. </bio>

The Wedding Singer tickets are a chance to see a play that's based on a highly successful movie, and early reviews are overwhelmingly positive. If you've seen the movie, you know the story, but even if you haven't, you need to see this on-stage production for several reasons. The show has been nominated for several awards, and the acting, the story and the music all add significantly to the show's overall quality.

About the Story

The Wedding Singer is the story if Robbie Hart, who sings at weddings for a living. He is planning his own wedding to his long-time girlfriend, and he is about to sing at his last gig before he takes his own vows. While getting ready to perform at this event, Robbie meets a waitress named Julia, who is also engaged.

Robbie's big day arrives, and instead of his girlfriend, he notices his sister coming down the aisle during the ceremony with a note. It seems that Robbie's girlfriend has decided not to marry him, and Robbie is devastated. It turns out that Linda, Robbie's girlfriend, is not in love with him anymore based in large part on the fact that he's no longer in a "legitimate" band but instead sings cover songs at weddings.

Robbie attempts to return to his work, but he's crushed, and his next set of gigs do not go well at all. Julia sees Robbie and is concerned, so she sets him up with her sister for a double date. During the date, it turns out that Glenn, Julia's fiancée, is a womanizer and not at all fit to be a good husband.

It's at this point in the plot that The Wedding Singer tickets begin to show their worth, as the story takes several twists and turns, most of which are completely unexpected. Overall, Robbie and Julia begin to spend a lot of time together and grow close, but a last-minute conflict arises that leads Julia to attempt to rush off to marry Glenn.

As for how the story ends, well, we're not going to spoil it for you. All we'll say is that you won't be able to predict exactly how things turn out, and this is why the movie was so successful and the play has been met with rave reviews.

Other Information

One of the reasons that the show is so highly-entertaining is that the music that Robbie plays is a classic blast from the past genre. Robbie specializes in love and dance songs from the 1980's, and these cult classics always liven up the theater in which the story is being told. The play is also hilarious, as the comedic twists manage to not only generate laughs but also add to the plot, which is a rare achievement.

All in all, The Wedding Singer tickets will treat you to a night of romance, deep plot development, belly laughs and music that will have you dancing in your seat. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Some singers catapulted to stardom rather quickly, some sparkled, flickered a little and then faded into obscurity while most singers stayed the same for years if not forever at mediocrity level?

Why is it that most singers never make it big in their singing career, not to say becoming superstars? Well, for starters, most singers begin their career as a lounge singer, singing in small clubs and belting out cover versions of established and popular singers. They selection of songs will be dictated by their audiences and so they must cover a wide genre of songs.

At one moment, you can enjoy a Barbara Streisand ballad and then the next song will be a fast Chaka Khan number followed by latin inspired Michael Buble's 'Sway'. Yes, it is good to be versatile and able to sing songs of various styles and genre. In fact it is even admirable if you can sing a Celine Dione number and sounded like Celine and then a Frank Sinatra swing sounding like ol' blue eyes himself.

However, as a famous vocal coach, Brett Manning once said, 'I have coached dozens of young women who can now sing almost exactly like Celine Dion. But then again, who wants a counterfeit when the real Celine Dione is already available?' This quote is taken from Brett's article 'How to build a successful singing voice'.

In other words, most singers just take it as part of their job to sound like the original cover versions of songs and never try to create a distinctive sound and style of their own. Now, if all singers sounded alike, how would you get noticed and recognized for who you are? How to make it big as a singer when you can only sing other people's song and imitate other singer's style of singing?

Let me ask you a question, how many times have you heard a song being sung and immediately able to identify the singer although you have never heard that particular song performed by the singer? Many times isn't it? Why? Because every prolific singer's voice and style are like their thumbprint. It is distinguishable from the rest of the pack. That is why they stand out and get noticed.

If you want your singing voice to get noticed and make it big as a singer, develop a distinctive style and voice of your own. After all, you have sung so many singer's style that you can use these influences to develop your own and stand out from the crowd.

Till next time, happy singing. <bio>Chris Chew is a personal development trainer and is still jamming and singing with bands at his leisure.
The most popular music today either has someone rapping about the hood, or someone rocking out without much singing talent. It seems that lately the art of singing has been lost in making music. I know that this sounds impossible, but more and more popular songs are being put out on the radio by people that can not sing very well at all. What happened to the Stings, the Celine Dions and the Stevie Wonders of the world? Now we are left with Jay Z, Britney Spears, and Korn. Even though many poor singers are getting most of the playing time on the radio, there is a singer out there that can sing very well and has become very popular over the last five years. The singer's name is Josh Groban.

Josh Groban has always loved music since he was a small child, and he started singing while in the seventh grade. Groban was very happy singing and acting when he was in middle school and then high school, but his grades began to slip, so he took some time off to get his grades back up. When he graduated from high school he was accepted into the Carnegie Mellon Theater department where he studied music and theater. He only stayed in college for one year, because he was signed to a recording contract by a friend of his vocal coach, David Foster.

Josh Groban learned from his classical music teachings when he was young, and he also looked up to and learned from many musicians as well. Some of these other musicians were Radiohead, Paul Simon, Sting, Peter Gabriel, and Bjork. As you can see from his wide variety of influences, Josh Groban brings a perfect blend of smooth popular and classical music.
This week we mourn the passing of Luciano Pavarotti.

As happens, I had just finished reading the book his manager wrote about their years together -- Herbert Breslin's The King and I.

Coming to mind particularly at this time was the reason Breslin was hired. Someone told Pavarotti that he was such a nice guy, he needed a mean manager.

Breslin, like most publicists at that time (he was publicist first, later manager), asked for a retainer. He said no one ever paid it. How surprised he was when the checks from Pavarotti arrived every month, like clockwork.

Breslin also admits, somewhat begrudgingly, what all of us in public relations know - that even if you're the best poromoter on earth, you can only promote what is promotable.

Surely there will not be another Pavarotti in our lifetimes.

The cartoons register the pulse of the world as we mourn the death of Pavarotti. One of them shows St. Peter welcoming Pavarotti to the Pearly Gates, phoning in, "Tell Caruso to take the night off."

Was he the greatest of all tenors? If he was to you, that is what matters.

Another shows the King of the High Cs, then mainstream, then beyond. He thrilled the crowd early on with 9 high Cs in one aria (Mes Amis), and went on from there.

Not only did Pavarotti have the voice of the century, he was eminently promotable as a person - charming, willing to meet the public that supported him, gracious about critics, generous regarding other artists. You can read some quotes about him, and from him at www.susandunn.cc/pavarottiquotes.htm.

Breslin quotes him as saying, "We are all eating off the same pig," quite often. Yes, he loved his food -- a fitting analogy -- but he also had that sense that we are all in this together. He said the critics had a right to criticize, he praised other artists, and he moved willingly in to the "mainstream." What this has meant to the world of opera, we have only begun to see.

It should be noted that no opera singer can make a good living doing operas alone, and Breslin enumerates the reasons. The lifetime of the voice, at its prime, is limited. They are not paid for weeks of rehearsal time (which, admittedly, Pavarotti didn't always bother with). There is transportation (in his case of a whole retinue, and also his favorite foods and wine - Lambrusco!). There are limited engagements. The money must come from concerts and other things.

One of the things that made Pavarotti great, besides the voice itself -- Breslin said that even after all the years, when he heard the voice, it gave him chills - was his willingness to please his audience. Well, not just please but to thrill.

Before every opera or concert, Pavarotti would say, "I will bring them to their feet." That was his goal. Every time. (He was always very nervous before a performance.) He also said, "I know what the people want. They want Nessun Dorma," and so he sang it for us, over and over.

There is no question that he did more for bringing opera to the masses than any artist, with his late-in- life concerts with artists as varied as James Brown, Mariah Carey and Bono. Criticized for this by some, it remains that he brought the consideration of opera into many minds where it had not been before.

The tributarial videos are pouring onto www.youtube.com, and there you can also find videos of him singing all your favorites. The comments are poignant. "I was raised on his music," writes one viewer. "He is in my very soul." "The voice of god," writes another. Many mention the time they got to see the master in person, clearly highlights of their lives.

Breslin points out that while Carreras, for instance, had planned what he would do "after," Pavarotti never was able to. Carreras has done some conducting, some teaching. Pavarotti just wanted to keep on singing.

Somewhere I'm sure he is.

For us here on earth, the silence is defeaning.

My favorite cartoon shows him mouth wide open, arms extended and it says beneath it, "Leaving a huge hole in our world." But perhaps the most eloquent ones are silent -- a single note on a sheet of music... his tux hanging on a hook forming the O in Opera ... and the one that shows an empty score entitled "Finis."

I also like the one that shows him ascending on wings. He said in one interview that he dreamed of waking up 60 lbs. lighter and being able to fly.

You can view the cartoons here: http://cagle.com/news/Pavarotti. <bio>Susan Dunn, http://www.susandunn.cc .
Most of us love to sing.

Our voice is one of life's little gifts; the gift that keeps on giving - in the shower, in the bath, whilst driving alone!

One evening last summer Sally, my fiancée, gave me a call on the way home from work. She left a voicemail, however, not quite being used to using a hands free kit, failed to hang up. She then proceeded to leave me with a very dramatic rendition of 'I will survive' by Gloria Gaynor. It made for a highly entertaining and embarrassing CD which I play from time to time in my car and at family gatherings.

Sally won't sing in public unless plied with alcohol, but when alone she clearly lets rip and turns her car in the Albert Hall.

I think this is true for most of us, but not many people would consider standing in front of an audience on a regular basis, singing their hearts out and taking money for it...Or would they?!

• Who are the professional singers and who are the money minded impostors? • How can you spot a true professional? • What is the role of the Wedding singer?

Sally and I are currently organising our own wedding (surprisingly enough Sally didn't throw me out after the whole Gloria Gaynor CD thing!) As we both work in the business, we know exactly what we want and how to spend from our music budget. We are both very particular about singers, bands and DJ's because we know how many clowns there are out there (And not the funny kind!). For our reception we have decided to completely eliminate the DJ and hire an old style Juke box.

This just leaves the singer. Having seen a few we find that our discussions on the subject seem to throw out the same conclusive truths. You'll probably find that you too do the same thing, for example when watching programs like X-Factor. After seeing so many acts you literally become an expert (or at least an expert on what you like).

The following should help you in determining what the role of a professional singer is (Particularly for weddings) and what qualities you should look out for before making your choice.

THE VOICE:

This is completely up to you. Everyone's voice is different and therefore it is sometimes difficult to compare one persons singing voice to another. Although I believe that a singer should have a great voice, there are many different sounds and styles to choose from. One thing I cannot stand though on a personal level is the singer who has no style or sound of their own and so imitates the sounds and styles of others (unless they are purposefully doing so for a tribute show). Watch out for this.

A singer should have good demo tracks no matter what. If they sound flat on the demo (After possibly numerous takes in the studio) then God help them when they are live! Try to suss out what type of singer YOU like, and then focus on that when continuing your research.

DRESS STYLE:

The professional wedding singer should always look smart. Jeans are for pub singers or very rich and famous celebrities who don't have to make an effort any more. Really, the singer should be slightly overdressed in comparison to the guests, but not so much so that they look like a cabaret reject.

EQUIPMENT:

Although they say "A bad workman always blames his tools" If they have bad sound equipment they WILL sound bad even if they are a great singer! A professional singer should keep up to date with the latest technologies; after all it is their job to sound pleasing.

FEES:

Wow, this is a tough one! Sometimes you get people who are great but charge insanely low fees, then you can also get the ones who charge a fortune but who are awful.

I always get put off when I see that a fee is low; I think we all do it with certain products. We think "Well hang on, why is it so cheap? There must be something wrong with it". Although this isn't always the case I still find myself sticking to that old rule, but if you're curious just dig deeper and find out more about the singer (Demo's, repertoire, etc) until you are completely satisfied.

I think that with wedding singing being such a specialist service, people can literally charge whatever they want, which is why you tend to get agencies and managers piling on large commission fees.

PACKAGES/ SERVICES:

A wedding singer should be as accommodating as possible. Their packages should fit to your day and they should be flexible, committing the whole day to you.

Beware of those who say "yeah, I'll be your DJ as well if you want". Being a professional DJ is a completely different job and skill, to being a professional singer (you wouldn't hire a plumber to fix the television would you?).

>From my experience certain singers tend to do this so they can cash in on the full day. They just leave a play list running on their laptop and pray that people don't ask for many requests.

IN CONCLUSION:

If you look in the right places, in the right way and for the right qualities you will find many good professional wedding singers out there. They will look stylish, sound magnificent and treat you and your guests to a 5 star performance that will be talked about for years to come.

Now go on! Pull up your Simon Cowell pants and let the judging commence!! <bio>Luca Salamone Website: http://www.vocalshow.co.uk Biography: Luca is a professional trained vocalist performing for a variety of events including wedding receptions.
There many methods to be a good singer. Most singing teachers actually invent their own singing system and methodology to teach their singing students. Each method and singing technique will usually include vocal exercises, singing techniques, skills and concepts.

To add clutter to the confusion, there are many books and information and sometimes misinformation you can find in the libraries, music shops and on the internet. The most frustrating thing is that many of these products and books come with contradictory information.

With this abundance of information, you could be learning singing techniques that conflict with each other and this could be very detrimental to your singing support system and sometimes the damage done may be irreversible. Many exciting singing careers were destroyed because of learning wrong singing techniques.

Take a look at babies. They are breathing naturally with their diaphragm and they can throw their powerful voices across the room when they cry to get your notice. How can they project their voice so naturally?

This is because nature has provided us with the natural vocal mechanism to sing well and powerfully. It is when we adopt bad vocal habits as we grew older that the natural ability to be a good singer is lost and needs to be rekindled by good and correct vocal exercises and singing concepts.

One challenge to good singing is to combine a simple yet powerful singing technique with strong emotions. Powerful emotions can break down a voice that is not trained with solid singing skills and techniques as a foundation. Good singing technique is the foundation to build the emotional aspect of singing.

For instance, if you pour out all your emotions in a song, you will know that something does not sound right in the singing sound you produced. Pay attention to your inner feelings and you will know what sounds right or wrong.

Successful singing requires not only the will and ability to express your emotions in a song, but also the correct singing technique and skills. Since emotions are channeled through your singing support system, your system must be fully developed for the emotion to come through powerfully and convincingly.

So to be a good singer, you must build your voice and the support system that produce that voice. With a good mastery of your voice mechanism, your own singing style and interpretation of songs will be much more enhanced. You do not have to be concerned about sounding like a copy of other good singers when you perform.

Yes, there are born voices, but there are no born artists. Each and every singer must develop his/her own individual skills to be an outstanding artist. It is not just how good a singing voice you have. It is what you can do with your individual vocal resources that is the crux of a good singer.

So getting introduced to a good singing teacher to help you to hone your singing skills to perfection is necessary if you want to be a good singer. <bio>Chris Chew is a jazz pianist.
While a good singing voice can be a good start for a singing career, the voice alone doesn't make a good singer. Being comfortable with the songs you are singing will show in terms of your self confidence.

Keep in mind that even successful singers have learned some techniques that is why they were able to maintain well-modulated singing voices. Singing isn't all based on talent. Lose all your inhibitions. Karaoke singing is a wonderful way to entertain yourself and the others.

When singing songs that are up tempo you don't need the technical ability it is more entertainment like karaoke. A good choice of song can make his performance better because the singer is comfortable with the song. Doing so, he'd be able to deliver the notes better, and feel the song best. A beautiful rendition of a song is noted most of the times, not because the singer has sung it well, but he did it with the right emotions overflowing. Doing so, he'd be able to deliver the notes better, and feel the song best.

Professional singers practice all the time, if you practice you will be amazed how you're breathing and voice improves when singing and making different tones. Singers have the ability to know how to breathe correctly when singing. When singers learn how to sing they do not sing from the throat they sing from the abdomen, the reason for this is because the abdomen is a large and strong muscle compared to the throat. Do not limit yourself to teachers close to home or work. Working with a coach that can bring out the best in your voice is the goal. While a good singing voice can be a good start for a singing career, the voice alone doesn't make a good singer.

Many people believe they can sing and they don't need voice lessons, the decision to go ahead and admit that lessons are needed is a big and important step. Once you train your voice it will become strong and vibrant and your voice will improve over time because you know the basics. It will be worth the extra distance. Find an environment where you can express yourself freely and one that offers open communication so training can be modified with your changing interests.

Singing is one practical way of expressing one's feelings. Possessing a skill in singing is also a good technique of overcoming shyness and gaining self-confidence. Singing is, indeed, one of the most profitable passions in the industry today.

Each day, a singer is born to the music industry. It isn't enough that you have been trained by the best music school or that you can shift from one musical genre to another.

Knowing the vocal quality of a singer will enable him to choose songs that are appropriate for his singing voice. Once an appropriate song has been chosen, the singer should take time to develop his own style. He shouldn't try to choose a difficult song which will just showcase his lack of singing prowess. A good choice of song can make his performance better because the singer is comfortable with the song. The voice produces sound; the technical explanation is that the chords called vocal chords vibrate which in turn produces sound. Singers use these vibrations to make different sounds at different frequencies which allow them to make variation of notes.

With all the talents available for the taking, making it big in the recording industry can be attributed more to a very good manager rather than on pure talent alone. Thus, singers should never question the importance of getting professional help to further their singing careers.

Taking into consideration the popularity of singing talent searches, good singers can actually make a successful career in the entertainment industry. <bio>David Marc Fishman helps performers get discovered at the online talent show.
Have you ever play or sing with a jam band? A jam band is a makeshift band and the musicians probably played together for the first time unrehearsed either in an impromptu performance or in a Jam music bar. Jam bands usually play jazz or blues both these genre of music have fixed music chord progressions and free form personal interpretation can be weaved into the chord sequence.

Since most jam bands play to a small audience, there is usually no sound technician to balance the sound produced by the bands and thus the musicians have to be 'sound sensitive' and able to detect unbalanced sounds and adjust their volumes and timbre themselves.

So how to play good and balanced music when you play with a jam band? Here are some pointers.

a) Listen to the lead singer If you cannot hear the singer's voice and the lyrics, then the musicians should turn down the volume of their instruments immediately so that the singer can be heard clearly by the audience. If a fellow musician is unaware, do not be afraid to remind him to play softer. Even if the singer is too soft and shy, it is always the duty of all musicians to play softer so that the singer can be heard.

b) Be attentive to the song Certain parts of a song are sung softly and sweetly, perhaps the introduction, or the first verse, or at the emotional part. The singer will usually take the lead. If these parts of the song are supposed to be quieter, then play softly. If the chorus is more energetic, then play louder during the chorus. But once the next verse arrives, we tone down for the softer verse.

Whenever we have such alternating dynamics of loud and soft, the listener will be captivated, moved and thus sing with more emotions and feelings. There will thus be 'expression' in the music, as opposed to having just one full volume all the way. If you listen and pay attention to the whole performance, you will automatically know when to go softer and when to let down your hair and rock away.

c) Bass player should listen to the volume of the kick drum There is always a tendency for bassist to play too loud. The volume of the bass guitar should be at the same volume as the kick drum. If you cannot hear the kick drum, then bring down the volume of the bass.

d) Pianist must take the lead role in controlling musical dynamics The pianist should listen attentively to the singer and know what kind of style and emotion the singer wants to portray in the songs. When the pianist softens, then the drummer, guitarist and bassist should follow suit. When the pianist starts to crescendo, then the rest of the band can rock and roll along.

e) Singer should feel free to guide the band and tell them to play softer, louder, faster or slower. The musicians must remember that your main job is to back the singer, to help make the singer sound good. So please oblige the singer while on stage and let him have it his way. Do not oppose the singer no matter how bad he or she is. If a musician wants to take the limelight and be a star, then wait for your turn to do your solo.

f) Listen to the soloist If a soloist is playing, all other instruments should not be louder such that the soloist is drowned. When the soloist is soloing, do not compete with him by playing all sorts of fancy stuff on your instrument that is totally unrelated to his solo.

Just play some back up chords will do.

g) Give everyone a chance to solo One of the reasons why many musicians do not play dynamically in a jam band is because they are eager to show off and be heard. We as musicians all want to be heard and noticed, so there is a tendency for us to make sure that we are loud so that the whole world can hear us. I believe one reason is because the musicians are not given ample opportunity to solo and be a star of the moment.

Perhaps this is the reason why jazz musicians seldom have problems with dynamics. Jazz musicians always seem to know when to play soft, when to play simple, when to play harder etc. This is because they have already been given ample opportunity showcase their talents during their solos so there is no more need to fight to be heard and noticed.

Keep these pointers in mind when you play or sing with a jam band the next time and have a rollicking good time. <bio>Chris Chew plays with impromptu jam bands regularly. There are thousands of Wedding DJ's, Bands, magicians and Singer's alike out there, waiting, eagerly to take your money for a service that could be either fantastic, or not so good. The key is this: THOROUGH RESEARCH!

With this particular product, you can't always see what you are buying until you have actually bought it. You can't easily see the full product range as there are so many types out there. And when you've finally found something you like, can you have it? And will it be reliable enough to show for the biggest day of your life?

Here are a few simple measures you must take when researching and booking your wedding entertainment:

Use the Internet: You will find some of the largest directories for entertainers this way. Browse various websites for Bands and Singers. Use various search methods and phrases such as "London Wedding Singer" or "Wedding entertainment in Liverpool", paying attention to sponsored ads that highlight your chosen phrases.

Take your pick! Once you've found something you like the look of you'll want to find as much information on this service as you can, even before the contact stage. For example if it's a band, do they have online demos? Images? Testimonials? You want to be at least semi-sure before you hand over an email address. Narrow it down to say, your favourite 5 bands, before you start any contact.

Obtain a quote and Availability: Money is always an option for most of us! I wouldn't want to spend half of my wedding budget on a band or singer, no matter how good they are, so I'd be on the look out for realistic pricing. You don't want to book someone who is overly expensive, but you also don't want to pay £200 for a singer who will tell you "yeah, I'll sing for you and I'm also a DJ!" When you first contact the entertainer(s), you would first enquire about availability for the date in question, then a price. Also how long will your entertainer perform for? Performance times can vary, though most singers and bands perform for 1 or 2 x 45 minute sets, depending on their pricing structure.

More information: If you can, get more information about their service. Can you visit them live? Do they have more demos? A repertoire? It is always good to meet up and discuss things in person, this way you'll get a feel for who they are and what they do.

Book and Secure This of course is the most crucial part. Most Bands/ Singers will take a deposit/ booking fee (anything up to 50% is normal), so you must be completely sure of your choice at this stage. It is always wise to obtain an invoice, receipt and most importantly a contract of agreement.

This way you can be 99% sure that they WILL be turning up on the day and if they don't, you have the necessary means to be compensated in full.

By this stage you are well on your way to having an unforgettable evening. You can then use the remaining time before your wedding day to liaise with the DJ/ singer(s)/ Band etc. giving them your first dance, requests, schedule and any other information they may require.

Organising wedding entertainment can be very stressful, even on the day, but if you make the right choices early and are prepared to research and book in advance, you will save yourself and your partner at least one set of Wedding worries.

This Article may be freely copied as long as it is not modified and this resource box accompanies the article, together with working hyperlinks. <bio>Biography: Author: Luca Salamone Website: http://www.vocalshow.co.uk Biography: Luca is a professional trained vocalist performing for a variety of events including wedding receptions and corporate events.
So you want to be a good lead singer and front a popular band or even an orchestra? If your answer is yes, then do you have a distinctive singing style or are you singing songs with the style of other singers?

What I mean is that how are you going to be different and stand out from thousands of other bands and singers doing just cover versions and imitating the singing styles of their favorite bands and lead singers?

Here are some tips on how to develop your own distinctive singing style. Firstly, go view the performances of famous singers fronting their bands from various musical genres. Notice how distinctive they are as each singer deliver the songs with their own natural distinctive style.

Let us take a look at some of the more distinctive singers starting off with Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones. Take note of how he pouts his lips and strut cockily on stage exuding sex appeal and confidence at the same time. The style has become his distinctive trademark. It is Mick Jagger's personal branding and only imitators of Mick Jagger do what he does and imitators will remain just that, imitators.

Fronting your band and get noticed allboils down to personal branding so that you are perceived to be different from others and thus attract attention and notice.

I am sure that if I name you some more popular lead singers, you will immediately associate with that singer mentally having a clear mental picture of that singer during a performance.

Take Elvis Presley, Earth Wind and Fire, Bono of U2, Madonna, Kate Bush, Cindy Lauper, Michael Jackson and even The Village People for example. I believe that with each of these names, you will conjure up a mental images of the singers and how they perform. Why is that so? It is because of their distinctive singing style ie personal branding.

Next, take notice of how these singers keep time and rhythm when they move on stage? Watch which action, vocal range and style during the delivery of their songs appeal to the crowd and how they whip their audience into frenzy. Take note of their facial expressions and body language at each stage of the song and how they tell an emotional story with the lyrics of the songs that can get people teary eyed.

Then learn and borrow some of these traits from them, and develop them with your own unique style blended in.

Once you have developed your personal singing style, the next step is to rehearse with your band thoroughly. Your band must know what you want such as when do you want to bring the song to a climax or when to bring it down to tug at heartstrings, when to pause in order to create an impact and other technicalities of the songs you will be performing.

Go buy some good music sheets so that the band can play together with the same music sheets and scores. If you leave them to play by ear, the band members will interpret the songs in their own way and you will also waste time and energy to get the band to play tightly together. You don't want your band to listen too often to the original version either because by doing that, they will also be playing in the style of the original song and again, will not be distinctive. Do the musical arrangements yourself!

Once this is done, rehearse until the band and you are inseparable components of the song and when that is done, you are now ready to front a good band as its lead singer and get noticed as a singer in your own right! <bio>Chris Chew owns a learn music website at http://www.playmusicsing.com </bio>
